dear gosh I'm obsessed with how you draw the sillies. ingo and emmet are so perfectly characterised and i can't imagine them any other way. your dialogue is phenomenal. the Pokemon are so wonderfully realised characters too, litwick/lampent/chandelure sassy nightlight beloved (ft. lady sneasler), and the Big Eel Doggo 🤩 i love you draw the othere too, lint roller the archeops!!!! trubbish shenanigans! elesa and her menace pizza rat!
you so perfectly thread that line between goofy and genuinely heartfelt. the little scenes of emmet and his eel in the rain and other such shenanigans next to emmet's anxieties and impostor syndrome culminating in that beautiful gorgeous wonderful evolution. sassy lamp and the genuine care and devotion she has for her rice cracker bland tasting trainer. oughhhhhhh
also?? your comic composition and your expressions and your colours and all of that are so good too
they're so silly and they're also so real. literally you're one of my favourite submas creators WHERE DID YOU COME FROM (i am hit with a train and dragged further into the black hole)
fantastic. no notes. love what you're doing, and i'm thrilled to see what you do with them next!
best wishes - @doodlejoltik
Tumblr media
ah MAN thank you so much for the kind words and reblogs! The fact you catch so many little details I litter about my comics brings joy into my shriveled little human hands.
As for context, I came from the BOTW and dnd fandom from instagram! Art under cut!
Tumblr media
(I drew these guys. So much. Linktober 2021 was my first foray into comics. I am glad to say I've evolved since drawing submas in 2023.)
BOTW aside, Pokemon's always been a hyperfixation for me, but only creature design wise (except for the adventure mangas. I LOVED that pokemon manga.) Submas sorta hit me like a speeding train because it gave me the frame work for a sibling and found family dynamic, and a lot of this iteration of Ingo and Emmet's personalities are from my own experiences OR from the deep abyss where I keep my braincells. Anyways glad to ramble! Thank you so much for the kind words-- and I'm excited to see where the submas train rot takes us. Onto new tunnels! All aboard! Yippee!

Why do you like Skyward Sword? What do you love about it? (I just came back to it after a long time and am obsessed.)
AH there are SO many reasons I like Skyward Sword!
The aesthetic! This is such a cute game, and the pastels are so pleasant to the eye. It makes the world so magical too, like botw is breathtakingly beautiful but skyward sword is like going to a real fantasy land. Kind of adds to the whole idea that this game is so far in the past it's in mythology era too, which makes it extra fun!
Speaking of which, the lore! Like, I know some people might not like the Hylia addition but let's be real, Nintendo destroys their own lore with every new game, so I just really liked this one lol. The idea that this game is so far back in the past that it's the original Hero, the original Zelda, it's such a fascinating and fun thing! This isn't just another iteration of the pair, this is the pair. It makes it fitting that they're the Zelink couple that I adore too haha.
With it being so far back in the past, it makes the magic feel so much more alive! The goddess is within reach, the dragons talk, everything feels so alive. You know how in stories it's always like "time passes and people grow distant from the magic and can no longer hear it/experience it" and that kind of feels like the rest of the Zelda games - like there's obviously still magic and beauty in all the games, but it never quite feels as... idk, fantastical as Skyward Sword's world does. Part of that is probably also because it's from Link's POV and this is all new to him
Which is another fun thing! All the other Zelda games, Link lives in an established world. Here, Link's exploring one that's been untouched since the entire world was nearly destroyed in a devastating war and nearly everyone had died. Like it's kind of akin to botw (I remember reading somewhere that botw was designed to be like a really improved skyward sword, like sksw paved the way for it) in that regard, but Link's in a foreign land and knows nothing about it. Rather like OoT Link, but there's very little established here, you know? There's no kingdom, you run into one (1) settlement with the mogmas and that's it. The rest is ruins and wilderness.
The characters! My gosh, they're so fun! Link is the most expressive here, he's absolutely delightful and I adore his personality (the only Link who comes close to being my favorite aside from Sky is Twilight). Groose is fantastic and rightfully a fan favorite. Zelda's a freaking knight! And she has her own journey! And she's got a fantastic personality, and her story is so interesting! Ghirahim is hilarious and a fun recurring villain! Even Impa is fairly interesting as a character. Fi certainly isn't my favorite companion but she isn't terrible, and it's quite fun learning about her lore and watching her develop.
LOFTWINGS. That is all.
LIVING IN THE SKY. Their settlement is so different from anything else in any other game and I love it. Also a nice little thing because like so many Zelda games herald an ancient race coming from the skies, and it differs between the games but the fact that this time it was the Hylians is really neat and solidifies the whole "this takes place before literally everything else" idea.
The music! I love the music so much, they're all bangers. Fi's theme, especially Follow Fi, is absolutely magical, Groose's them is bombastic and fun, freaking Koloktos theme, the Ancient Cistern!! The Sand Sea!!!
SILENT REALMS MY BELOVED. Everybody else hates them, I freaking adore them, they're my favorite part of the game. I love the challenge of them and the music for them absolutely took my breath away.
The sword mechanics! I know with bad programming/buggy controllers it can be a pain, but it's so fun being able to swing Link's sword around with such control, whether it's motion control or joystick. Like, it's not just hitting a button, you gotta wait and watch and observe to figure out how you're going to attack, and it makes it pretty fun!

I’m not referring to rhe “he don’t cate about the timeline article” I mean the “No Comment” article when he was asked about an OoT remake. It’s on gameinformer and twitter, and I think i might be skeptical bit time
Ah! I have a several thoughts on this!
(Disclaimer: I do not work for Nintendo and this is all speculation.)
Given Aonuma’s high profile in games, “no comment” is really all he could say in that situation. If they were considering an OoT remake, HD re-release, anime series, etc. in the indeterminate future, he couldn’t hint to it in an ad hoc interview question and certainly wouldn’t announce anything outside of a larger, Nintendo-driven marketing reveal. Given the interest in the topic, anything other than a hard “no” could easily be interpreted by the fandom and game media as a “maybe yes” (hence all the speculation around the “no comment” response itself). If they are not planning on making anything OoT related at this time (or even if it’s not on any future long term release roadmap), they also wouldn’t want to commit to a hard “no” there, either.
My guess is that if they were to “remake” OoT, it’d be like all of the other Mario and Zelda HD remakes: “upres it” to significantly higher detail and frame rate, modify the controls to make sense on Switch, and don’t change the content at all (other than adding additional graphical details—like what can be found in the delta between the original N64 OoT release the later 3DS re-release).
The “upres” of an older game is a massive undertaking. The OoT 3D port came out in 2011. For the sake of accuracy and feel, they might be able to rebuild / extend the engine they used on the 3DS to run on Switch, but that would likely be extremely difficult. Or maybe they could recreate the entire game in an already Switch-compatible engine (perhaps the Skyward Sword HD or BotW tech), but then it would be difficult to capture the core gameplay experience. Perhaps they could just start from scratch, but that’s even more expensive. No matter what they run it on, they’ll have to reproduce all the assets. Because OoT is such a beloved game—and there is precedent here with WW HD, etc.—they would likely choose to closely and carefully recreate the style of the original game, vs. drastically changing the art, sound, etc.
Regarding the narrative content, as others have mentioned, the game is 25 years old and from a less inclusive era, so aspects have not aged well. If there were edits made, it would perhaps be to modify those rougher spots, but likely not be a drastic rewrite.
To quote Husband, “There are very low odds they’d go the Final Fantasy VII Remake route” and retcon / change a bunch, especially since Nintendo already has such a strong HD re-release precedent. Because it would essentially be a port at that point, it would likely be given to another company to handle as the first-party TotK team moves on (if they haven’t already) to their next big project.
I have no idea what Aonuma’s role entails at Nintendo, but at the very most he would be part of the greenlight process to have another studio work on a re-release of OoT, and would likely not have any creative nor directorial influence on the game itself (there even are several interviews in which Omega Force described having very little oversight from the BotW team as they worked on AoC). So if folks are worried about him taking the game in a different direction, if he’s even still in a creative position at Nintendo, he will undoubtedly mostly focus on the Next Big New Title. But it sounds like maybe he’s moved to the more corporate / franchise level now, in which case he will not be in the weeds on creative direction much at all.
In the end, if Nintendo did decide to tackle the heavy lift of delivering a new generation of OoT to players (including getting it running on the Switch, redoing the art and audio, and making then localizing specific string changes, etc.), the end result probably won’t be different enough to risk undermining the long-established OoT lore nor impact the game’s place in the hearts of the fandom.
If anything, it could be a great chance for returning and newer players to experience this chapter of the older lore at >20fps.

still haven't finished totk bcs i keep getting busy w uni but i kinda just wanna rant about the main plot line lol
The continuity issues of this game is frustrating if you try to mince the main plot, shit just doesn't add up. As fun the open worldness is, being able to solve the puzzles any way you want, it feels as if they had to cut corners when it came to the plot 💀 Like it's some afterthought djsbdkwnkdns Having cutscenes fully voice acted has so much emotional power, like I kinda wish they made the most out of it jdjsbkwndke
I've read here in tumblr before about how it's as if the original direction of the zonai shifted, because I do remember Rauru's hand being creepy. And then the game releases and he's apparently a good boi! But it's fine, sometimes art do be like that it just takes a whole new direction. But the way they interweave things w botw is very inconsistent. Like they could have really did more with it yanno
Personally, it would have been better if we didn't start the game exploring the ruins ? the castle depths ? idk what's it called but like, we got to experience following Zelda as she puts in the effort of "restoring Hyrule". We get to see the glimpse of their life together after the calamity.
The thing is, does Hyrule need to be restored? Most specifically, the castle. Also it makes me wonder how people reacted seeing what seems to be the princess of legend come back, the princess they've heard from their grandparents. But I guess it's easy to interpret it with Zelda being vital to their worshipping of Hylia. And Hyrule Castle seems to serve as a seal for Ganon, and for more generations to come
It would have been more meaningful to see beloved characters from the series intermingle with the new characters. Though the new characters look cool, they also feel so out of place. I get that Penn replaces Kass in terms of role but it would still have been fun to see Kass just chilling at home. It would have also been fun to see Zelda and Kass interact, after all Kass' teacher is the court poet that regularly accompanied the princess. They could reminisce the stories of the past... Kass going "Ah, my teacher used to tell me stories of (this and that)" and Zelda enthusiastically recalling these stories... It would also have been cool to see how the whole Zonai Survey Team was formed. Since Tauro was a solo explorer and his passion for field research is what made Zelda choose him to be the leader of the survey team, it would have been nice to have a neat little side quest of getting to know the guy. Same goes for Yona. It would have been less surprising if Link and Sidon were penpals and they'd regularly write to each other, Sidon would recount some childhood memories with Yona. If maybe we were there to welcome Yona as she arrived, her introduction would have felt smoother? I'm not against the idea of Sidon and Yona but their relationship feels so abrupt HABSJABDKANDK Would have been fun to see how Sidon slowly realized he loved Yona, something like that.
I'm really digging the idea that totk zelda should be playable. Totk's story is more about her dilemma. It would have been more meaningful experiencing the Dragon Tears memory as Zelda, we get to move around as her. I mean, she's apparently the strongest Zelda in the series I think it would have been so monumental.
But back to the actual story, it could have been more... Though it's fun seeing that Link isn't as alone anymore, teleporting to Lookout Landing always feels nice because I know that's where Link's friends are, I just wish Zelda had more screentime.
Thankfully the fandom has people rewriting the story to fill in the gaps so that's what I'll be busy reading once I finish the game to scratch the itch that is inconsistent storytelling sjbskdnsns that's my totk rant for today 😘

i'm not done with totk but here are some of my thoughts so far! 🌱🗡🐉
(note: i saved this post as a draft while totk was still a fresh new topic and forgot about it entirely once i stopped playing in preparation for the new school year. alas. here it is anyway, as i have not advanced further and my thoughts remain the same!)
— this is a sentiment i've seen expressed a few times, but i do love how much connected, in comparison to botw, link is to the people of hyrule, and how connected they are to each other. the change from an ambience of isolation to one of community is what sticks with me the most so far; it's lovely to see. i do think that this would have been much better executed had the game not been afraid to "leave out" new players who have not experienced botw by having botw characters (other than the champions, purah and company) remember link.
— the gameplay is very fun! it took me a minute to become accustomed to the new shrines, but they are a lot of fun. unfortunately i continue to be Terrible At Video Games so i have had to leave a couple for later, but that's on me! i can admit that! i'll get the timing for the baseball shrine right at some point so help me!!!
— THE DEPTHS. I ADORE!!! they terrify me and entice me in equal measure. i can only go there for a bit before needing to Leave Now Please Oh God but it is such an insanely cool space. i'm in love 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
— in that same vein, i love love love the new monster designs! goodness!! the gloom hands & phantom ganon, yes, my beloved! but the gibdos? BOY!!! also, not monsters but bubbulfrogs... beloved beloved bubbulfrogs 🩵🩵
— no one gets me like kilton does.
— the story is. ah. not very good. again, i haven't finished the game yet, mind you, but, from what i have been able to observe, this will probably be one of the games i think about the least once it's over. the aspects i enjoy, i enjoy with all my heart, but the story did leave me a little cold. oh well!

Self-Recs
Fic authors self-rec! ✨ When you get this, reply with your favourite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers (if you would like to)!
Thanks for the tag @drsteggy :)
Ah my top 5 favourites! This is kinda hard haha. In no particular order here they are!
1) A Hero Indeed - my beloved Anti-Hero!Link long fic. My aim in this fic was to take the memories given in BOTW and add a spicy twist with a morally grey Link. It’s a play on what it means to be a Hero, in the context of Hyrule, the Triforce and the vows Link makes :) I also like that it’s told from Zelda’s perspective so the reader grows in suspicion along with her that something is not quite right.
2) Sometimes Things Have To Get Worse Before They Get Better: My first Yiga clan fic featuring an AU of memory #7 (Blades of the Yifa) where Link and Zelda are captured, and tortured by the Yiga, before escaping. I really liked this plot of this fic, I feel it’s probably my most unique plot idea :)
3) My 2021 Whumptober fic. It’s an imagining of what could have happened during Zelda's 100 year fight with the Calamity, and the effect this would have on Zelda and Link. It’s all under the theme of "betrayal" and I particular like the parallels in this fic- there’s a lot of imagery and symbolism that I really enjoyed writing :)
4) The Perils of Swimming: spirit tracks zelink! I love ST (I mean look at my header LOL) and in this fic we explore repercussions of Link’s decision to say yes to Zelda’s request in Papauchia village to go swimming. Spoiler alert: he can’t actually swim :) Cute fluffy Zelink to balance out my angst lol and this was a collab fic so featured really lovely art too!
5) Shadows are but one side of the coin: My post twilight princess fic where I explore what happens to Link once Midna shatters the mirror, his slip into depression, and the first steps he takes towards recovery when an unexpected letter from the castle arrives. It’s a softer and slower fic, different to my other stories in its subtlety and I keep having thoughts of what to happens next so I may very well write more of this haha.

To All
What’re your favorite games (and why if you want to answer that part)
<TSF> backgammon, and mens erger je niet, are pretty fun! i used to play backgammon, as well as puzzle games, with my administrator, all the time...
<TSF> we used to go into the market, and offer people bills if they won against us. they were practically a master at everything they showed me... i was the one who usually had to pay up~
<TSF> ...for videogames, i, uh, obviously enjoy phighting. and terraria, and...splatoon....i guess...? i know i sort of, have a sort of, ~gamer persona~, but i'll admit, i don't really, play any games...
<BVQT> I greatly enjoy sudoku! And especially the "harder" variations. So far I have found Hyper Sudoku and Jigsaw Sudoku the most amusing so far.
<BVQT> I also find myself enjoying many sports games! Variations of 'football' especially.
<BVQT> Ah. Videogames also count? Well...
<BVQT> I enjoy Minecraft greatly. The slow-burn worldbuilding interests me massively and I appreciate the lengths that they go to enure that the subjects mentioned are interesting for everyone. I wish that the education edition was available on PC! I would love to play mostly unmodded Minecraft with alchemy available to me.
<BVQT> I also enjoy Terraria. The gratuitous gore is a bit of a turn-off at times especially considering the lag it causes. And there are a great deal of aspects that utterly disgust me. But it is incredibly fun otherwise! The lore is intriguing even if it is often decanonized for little to no reason. I do wish that they finished Terraria: Otherworld. Even if it was sort of a Starbound clone wasn't it?
<BVQT> Speaking of! I massively enjoy Starbound! Though sometimes the worlds feel too closed off and the universe itself too open to feel very immersive it is incredibly fun and I like it! I could spend hours upon hours simply building and browsing its many interesting mods! Even the. less appropriate ones have their own charm and interesting quirks! The community is so dedicated to making updates for a long-forgotten game I am honestly impressed.
<BVQT> I also enjoy Don't Starve though I have already mentioned that earlier here. It is fun! If a bit annoying to handle.
<GRP> OOH OHH ME NEXT
<GRP> I LOVE BALL GAME. and JELLYFISHSPEARFISHING!!!!!! ITS FUN!!! AND NOT JUST BC TABBY INVENTED IT but mostly that :} tabbys so good at gaming
<GRP> uhhhh i dont rlly like amny videogames to be honest... sorry i am not a #epic #gamer. I LOVE phighting tho!!! phunny!!!!!! me and tabby always get mvp in itits funnn
<APIS> Man, Phighting IS fun!
<APIS> You guys already know I don't like sports... Puzzle games are really fun! A digital puzzle game I've been getting into lately is Puyo Puyo. It's, like.. okay...
<APIS> I mean, the story's really funny, to be honest. Like, who even thought of this stuff??? I really like Amitie, and Ringo... they're cute. Like Goldy and I!
<WM> I do notte ofte playye videyogaymes.. Splatty is funne.
<UPSILON> I'm the same as my beloved. I just don't really see the appeal... I tried playing some online games, but they're just - why is it that no matter how long I play, everyone else is always fancier than me!? It's absurd-!
<FS> ........
<FS> i play a little of everything, i guess...
<FS> totk is... it's fine. the physics are uncomfortable, and hard to get used to, since everything's so floaty sometimes, but it's silly. i prefer botw's story... but if i had to choose a zelda game i really liked, it'd be triforce heroes, or maybe spirit tracks. all zelda games have... problems.... but they're fun.
<FS> splatoon's also pretty fun. i like th story. wish the translations weren't so terrible... shoutout to the community for fixing them, jeez.
<FS> phighting is pretty fun. i'm planning on trying out banhammer, even if i don't like his character. i can reclaim him.
<FS> starbound's fun... wish you could make yourself have a specific profession, like your crewmembers do. and wish you could bring tailors with you without mods...
<FS> ...i really like baba is you...
<FS> s fun... like baba...

2022 Year in Review Tag!
thanks so much @magic-is-something-we-create i feel like this year has been a huge jumble ngl but let’s be positive about it lol :’)
also this is just a general list not top 5 cuz i didn’t do much this year
5 movies i watched
in terms of new movies:
american psycho — i actually enjoyed this movie a lot but it’s genuinely bc this movie is much funnier than i thought it would be. all deeper meanings and commentary aside patrick bateman is a fucking specimen
kwaidan — obsessed with this movie ngl. the first three segments are top tier (kurokami, yukionna & HOICHI THE EARLESS ESPECIALLY IF YOU WATCH NO OTHER PART PLEASE WATCH THIS ONE I CANNOT PRAISE IT ENOUGH). however the last one was super lackluster in comparison to the other three. tbh i feel like if the last one was the first one it would be a really good progression from okay to the best bc you really can’t follow hoichi the earless with anything imo.
tales from crypt (1972) — watched a lot of old horror this year (bc my partner is a horror movie buff and has been getting me into them for awhile now lolol) but this movie was a lot of fun! i want more ridiculous anthologies and movies tbh. make movies fun again tm.
jeepers creepers — never seen it before and MY GOD was screaming the whole time i was watching bc no?? we do not need to investigate you KNOW it’s a creature. all of this might’ve been avoided if y’all just minded your damn business 😔
then off the top of my head i rewatched my comfort movie sherlock holmes bc fuck iron man, rdj’s sherlock is his best role to me. i definitely wanna watch more movies next year.
5 shows i watched
ah i mostly just watched anime this year
chainsaw man — stressed. everyone is sketchy and i’m stressed
rewatch of demon slayer with my friend bc demon slayer is the only thing that matters :) finally have hulu so i can fucking watch season 2 i just haven’t gotten around to it yet 😭
way of the househusband — finally got around to watching the anime this year and just as the manga, it’s perfect
jujutsu kaisen — i love it but at what cost. also i’m a simp for nanami oof
death parade / nana — i’ve only watched the first episodes of each but nana stresses me out (lovingly) and i think death parade is fascinating i just need to make more time to watch shit lol
5 songs of 2022 (*separate from spotify wrapped*)
odo — ado -> got introduced to this song recently and just absolutely obsessed with it. it’s the song that may be sparking a change in one of my wips that i mentioned lol
devil — max changmin -> came out in january and this song owns the whole fucking year idc idc idc
go back — se so neon -> UGH THIS BAND their songs slap so hard but go back is genuinely just so good
濁 (daku) — the gazette -> this whole album. but i want this song directly injected into my veins.
better — boa -> CRACK. THERES CRACK IN THIS SONG. but boa >>>>>>
5 albums or artists of 2022
i don’t have 5 but these three specifically:
devil (the 2nd mini album) — max changmin -> this album owns my ass. cannot believe he started the year like this. how fucking dare lol.
the gazette, always my beloveds
lowlife princess: noir — bibi -> she snapped with this one. every song and mv snapped. bibi vengence & animal farm especially
5 books i read
definitely didn’t read 5 books lol didn’t have time or space mentally. however i will say i started to read bram stoker’s dracula this year, got stuck on the part about paprika, thought it was hilarious and never finished chapter 1. it’s super good from the bit i read so far, i’m just easily amused and don’t have patience 😔
5 characters from media
nanami (jjk) — feral about a man a single man
like everyone in demon slayer but tanjiro komado my fucking BELOVED 😭
hanzo (ovw) — 6 years strong obsessing over this man pff
link — i am once again pointing at my botw self insert au side blog lmaoooo
gojo / rengoku share a spot only bc i love them but ow pain :)
sorry i don’t listen to podcasts lol
and finally
5 positive things that happened in 2022 no matter how small:
got conveyor belt sushi for the first time! i wish it was closer by but maybe it’s better i’d be there every day
created a new writeblr so i could start getting more confident talking about my stories. i think it’s marginally worked! i’m working on myself still but i feel like i’ve been more open and indulgent this year
5 years with my partner!
had a pretty good birthday for the first time in years
despite the struggles working from home has done a lot for my mental health and i want to try and secure another wfh job in the future.
this is an open tag! i hope everyone had a decent year to some extent 💛

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your comic making process? I find it hard to make comics that look eye-pleasing to read and yours are like candy.
Tumblr media
Ah, comics! Dig under cut to see some old wips as I attempt to explain my nightmare thought process to you.
For making a comic AESTHETIC and APPROACHABLE:
I've noticed that it's easier for people to be pulled into a comic if I set the environment first and foremost, so people have some vague context for the scene. Of COURSE that's not always necessary ( there are a lot of comics that start out without environmental story telling and it works perfectly) but I've always liked having a lil illustration before digging my rat claws into the meat of the story.
For example! “Emmet and Elesa have a clandestine meeting in the library at 4 am.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sketch was sort of the jumping point to where I wanted to go with the comic. I wanted to a. explain wtf is happening and b. draw a nice conclusion about what the f is happening.
You don't need to make the environment available in every panel too! I'd suggest making your first panel tell all the environment detail you need and then like... slowly removing irrelevant detail from there. And then hit folks with the background again at the end. (So basically, you don't see the library in this comic until the beginning and a bit towards the end. I have tricked you! aha!) So that's one tip i have. For Readability: Anyways, to make a comic easy to read, spacing is super important. Dialogue tends to cramp a shot by a WHOLE lot. For example! Remember the "Lamp is told she's beloved (and has a tsundere moment over it"? That used to be TWO panels. Man. Nightmare fuel. Lemme find it. (This is the rough. I Lined It, realized the pacing is off, and then withered. Please don't look at it too hard.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So here's the thing. This READS. But the sheer amount of dialogue in the beginning is fatiguing for me and the "you are beloved, Lampent" NEEDS that oomph of both characters realizing that over the span of years, their relationship stopped being antagonistic and started being family instead. Some folks are fine with blocks of dialogue, but I have the attention span of a patrat on candy. I will not make it. SO! To match the almost moody atmosphere, I stretched the comic out. I stretched that bad boy out a LOT. And I got this out of it.
Tumblr media
Something to keep in mind in comics is there's always going to be one or two iconic lines. Lines that make people FEEL things. Those lines deserve their own panel, their own shot, their whatever. A good story has lulls in its conversation. If you can replicate it, you're winning. Character Blocking:
So basically no, it's not all witchcraft. It's only a bit of witchcraft. Another thing that helps is differentiating characters if they're on the same panel is by solid blocks of color. I have, for the longest time when working on storyboards, blocked characters different tones in order to help differentiate them. Don't be shy! Do that if it helps your comics read! Ingo will always be darker shaded then emmet. The angry nightlight will always have some hint of purple on her (unless I forget). The first goal in a story is to convey information, hehe. Here's an example of color blocking! (This is from a VERY old botw comic I did for linktober in 2021.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's, ah, rather rustic compared to what I do. usually. I know! BUT the primary goal here is to convey where the characters are in relation to each other. And the fact they're color coded makes life easier for both reader and artist. Alright! That's all the tips I can think of off the top of my head. Time to get off that soap box, haha. Overall: Basically, my work process is-- draw a story telling image/ write a funny piece of dialogue. Build the comic around that. Pace it so the important lines stand out. Color code the characters for max visibility. And then four to twelve hours of lineart, but that's neither here or there.
Thanks for coming to my unregulated rambling!

for the wip game id love to know about gl au!! (i also read it as glue HFBXKFH)
ah. glue my beloved. anyways it technically stands for Gerudo Link au. it was this whole pre botw thing where a gerudo link get sent to hyrule castle to study and become a knight. He makes friends with his roommates and they all rely on each other to get through their training.
It has some ocs and background lore I really enjoyed making! Like for example, Geo, one of Link's roommates, has a Goron uncle who's sworn brothers with his dad. He can speak a bit of goron but he's very rusty at it.
In this au Link's mother is a jewelry maker and he has 5 sisters. they don't really appear but its fun background stuff. Anyways it ends with the botw plotline going through and when exploring the ruins of hyrule castle, he finds the room he used to share with them. because of how sudden the attack was, his friend's things are still there, rotted and aged. he gains some memories back and cries because he doesn't even know how they died and now there's nothing left of them but his memories.

I really wanna talk about this for a sec cause it’s just so beautiful and magical.
We see all the other characters still and lifeless, bathed in darkness aside from the ominous glow of the Smash logo. Then Mario takes a step forward towards a flame, does an epic yeet and --

Followed by the complete reveal of the iconic keyblade? Perfection.
AND THEN IT SHOOTS THE BEAM AND THE KEYHOLE SHOWS UP AND FREAKING HIKARI STARTS PLAYING (tears for years also my BoTW son Link lookin’ kinda nice owo) AND THEN THIS FREAKIN’ HAPPENS :

THE BOY FLOATS IN DIVE TO THE HEART STYLE LOOKIT HIM LOOKIT THE PRECIOUS LIGHT BOY PIXIE DUST FLYIN’ AROUND AND GIVING EVERYONE HOPE AND THAT LITTLE SMILE AND LAUGH HNNNNNNGGGGH --
So I went back and watched all the Smash Ultimate character reveals (holy crap the ANIMATION like dang why y’all goin’ so hard but also more pls owo) and found out that people have been wanting Sora in Smash for forever (again Rika’s out of the Smash loop lol). But for obvious legal reasons, it’s been a fight for Sakurai to get the beloved light boy in the game.
BUT YO. Glory be, looks like he finally did it! And when I was watching people react to Sora’s reveal, seeing the pure, unadulterated joy and emotion, people straight up crying seeing Sora make it into Smash, it was really beautiful to see.
This being the final reveal, and last page in this chapter of Smash, is the cherry on top heehee
Congratulations, Sora!!!

6. Most overrated and underrated game?
9. Favourite Link design?
6; Overrated? Hm...If I'm honest, the only one I can sorta think of is BOTW? Everyone acts like it's Nintendos Greatest LOZ Game when, personally, that's not correct. Underrated? TRI. FORCE. HEROES.
9; hm,,,i really like TP Link's design, but ALTTP has to be my favourite! A poc Link with pink hair??? yes please. But also I'm not sure bc,,,Link's Awakening Link,,,my squimshy beloved,,,ah.

I think this is the final rant? Thought dump?? For now
I wanted to think abt wing types😔 some ideas for what type of wings they might have
Active Soaring Wings (long narrow wings, made for soaring over water ie gulls): Easily Tetra! They're on the great sea after all, this one is simple! Wings like these only really fly well when the wind is favourable, so shed probably have to stay on her boat most of the time- but Wind controlling the wind currents with his wind waker to help Tetra fly, my beloved
Passive Soaring Wings (Long broad wings, made for soaring high in the air and have fast take off speed ie eagles): Id say Dusk, Artemis and Lullaby. These wings are pretty typical for predator bird/birds of prey, so out of all of them these wings are the most intimidating which works for Arty! Shes the princess of a war, bird of prey wings are sufficiently scary for her. Plus sometimes you see the Trope of characters using their wings as a shield, I feel like out of all the wings these are the only ones thick and big enough to actually be used like that. For Dusk I picked this because the way she sorta circles you in the puppet Zelda fight reminds me of birds of prey/Vultures. Imagine Twi being circled by puppet Zelda with her big wings, I would be veryyy intimidated. For Lullaby, I feel like passive soaring wings just feel more confident. Instead of flapping to keep up right, your just soaring! I also like the idea that she only flys really high in the air where no one really notices her so she can be free to just be herself by herself, before coming back down and having to be either Sheik (Downfall,Adult) or the perfectly well mannered Queen (child). Also one of the birds of prey are seen as good omens in the down fall era because the Goddess Hero has said kind of Wings (Like to think that Sheik is a cultural icon in the Downfall era like Time is in the Adult era)
High-Speed wings (Medium long and narrow wings, built for long sustained speed ie Falcons): Sun, Dawn, and Flora. Sun is already cannoncally super fast, always ahead of Link and Ghirahim. So she gets the Zoomy wings. She can fly faster than Ghirahim can teleport and it drives him crazy. Bonus when she shoves Sky off Skyloft, she has to go get them, but her wings arnt stong wings like Dusk/Artys/Lullaby so she just has to lay there for a while after pushing herself too far (mirroring her loftwing in game). Her wings are easier to use in the stiller wings of the surface, compared to the harsh winds of Skyloft- one of the reason she likes the surface more. For Flora, I like the idea that after Wild died, Flora flew around powerfully quickly to the Calamity after returning the Master sword. Like the botw speed run stasis launch but shes just like that. Also it would be funny for her to fly faster than Link can ride a horse. She leaves him in the dust as soon as shes out of the castle. The Rito in botw must really like Flora bc they're constantly talking about how Wild doesn't have wings. Flora who dive bombed the Calamity with all her strength means the world to me. Dawn's is more practical. If non of their wings look the same im just assuming that like Hylia picks which wings they get based on their personality/environment. Wings built for fast sustained flight would be amazing for the Downfall era, to always be too fast for anything to catch you. Too bad she still gets kidnapped tho, she must of been yanked outta the sky when trying to escape. I could see Dawn being the fastest flier before getting kidnapped and her bonding with Leggy over not having the most presentable Wings. I love Dawn so much. I feel like shes 100% embarrassed of her wings and prefers to keep them hidden, but seeing Legend struggle with his would cause a mom friend override. She will talk about them, but only to help others
Elliptical Wings (short broad wings, made for short bursts of high speed tightly controlled flight and fast take offs ie sparrows): These are the wings require a lot of flapping for normal flight. Out of all of them I feel like they have the highest skill ceiling. Like to be able to quickly dart between trees seems hard, and if you arnt darting youd be flapping constantly instead of Soaring. I feel like these would be good for Leggy and Fable! Legend needing to flap constantly to stay in the area, but when he finally figures it out he can move faster than Flora/Dawn/Sun and maneuver better than them at higher speeds too- but its hard. I feel like that fits with the Legend learing how to accept/use his wings plot line. Its hard but theyre super cool after he figures it out. For Fable, ive always seen her as high enegry and excitable. Flappy wings that allow her to maneuver easily just sorta vibe with that. Esp if shes just a natural at it. These wings are made for avoiding predators. Whats a better wing type for a Hero who gets in so many fights, and has so many enemies.
Hovering wings (humming bird wings, used for tightly controlled hovering, very small compared to body, can fly backwards): Dot. Minish cap Zelda having tiny wings is my only thought process for this I am sorry unu
For Aurora being flightless: Aurora was said to live in a golden era before she was cursed. She probably never needed to fly before, she lived in luxury and could just lounge around. A lot of flightless birds uses their wings for displays. So i like to think her wings are very very very very pretty, yet almost useless. (Dawn is a little jelly bc her wings have always been drab looking. Aurora thinks Dawn's wings look warm and comforting.)
Bonus: Hyrule has wings in his fairy form! He can also fly. Hyrule trying to teach leggy how to fly my beloved- I like to think he has little dragon fly wings.
(AH!! an Angst pass!!! Ohohohohoh Dawn and Aurora come hereeee- might draw my ideas of thoes two if it doesn't step on ur toes lol. Two princesses that cannot fly, what heartfelt conversations full of feelings will they have!!)
HYRULE TEACHING LEGEND HOW TO SLY MY BELOVED
C-can I use that? Would that be? I need that now can I put that in?
Bro Anon this is some FANTASTIC STUFF. Ease excuse me while I just....*drops pen and paper from trying to jot it all down.
Dusk with big vulture wings ooooooo.
Yo hmu if you wanna help me hash out designs because O_O
