I once ordered a used copy of "Chuck Amuck" on Amazon marketplace (sorry, I am a Chuck Jones basic), but they sent me a totally different book (also, don't recall exactly but it was something dark, like a WWII book or something... 😬)(I think the barcode was damaged or something). I returned it, but never got around to trying again to get it... Nor have I read any other bios or history of LT/MM at all, I really need to. Any good starting points off the top of your head? Don't worry about it if not!
WHAAAT THAT'S CRAZY!! THAT'S... A FASCINATING EXPERIENCE LOL, what an intriguing mix-up!! so sorry about that, though!!
AND BOY DO I EVER! ...WELL, okay i don't have THAT many LT specific books. but the first book i ALWAYS recommend to people is Michael Barrier's Hollywood Cartoons book--it was one of the first of its kind and it covers a TON of the major studios, Warner's included. this thing is an extremely invaluable book that i think anyone even remotely interested in exploring the history of these cartoons should check out. especially since his blog, which has a ton of the interviews he quotes in the book, has been down for a few months... definitely required reading! pardon the quality, but here's a passage that's stuck with me for years since the very first time i read it.. fantastic book
Jaime Weinman's book Anvils and Dynamite is another exceptionally good book that's informative, but also very fun to read and maybe a bit more leisurely--i tore through it pretty quickly and often find myself referring back to it in everyday conversation. he definitely opened my eyes to a lot of trends in the history of these characters and shorts and how they're perceived by the public today! i love Weinman's authorial voice too, i was looking through screenshots i'd sent when reading it for the first time and had a hard time settling on a good one to send because they're all so funny. i like this one a lot though
i highly recommend Martha Sigall's memoir, too--she was an ink and painter who worked at WB during the '30s and '40s and relays a lot of really interesting anecdotes! like this, which might be my favorite animated anecdote ever?
Jerry Beck and Will Friedwald's WB Cartoons book is kind of more like a glossary than an in-depth book, but i'll still link it anyway since it's interesting, especially if you're wondering what every single short made is about! it's maybe of less use to me since i've seen all of these shorts, but kinda like Barrier's book, it was released during a time where this information was much harder to come by
i also just got Steve Schneider's LT Art Book a few months ago--i've been too busy to crack into it, but i was convinced by my historian friends to get it and so i can't wait to dive in!
Chuck Amuck is definitely worth reading, too, if you can get your hands on it! just be warned that Chuck has a penchant for exaggerating the truth a bit (he, Bob Clampett, and Mel Blanc lol) so i would take everything with a grain of salt. for example, that infamous "rules of the Road Runner" list or whatever that's like "the Road Runner must never talk" or "the Road Runner must never step off the road" is complete bunk. it's still a super fun read! but i'd take it more through the lens of leisure and entertainment than the pursuit of cold, hard fact
with that said, i greatly love this

Sorry about that notes spam. I gave up on Fediverse because the vibe is off (for me) and it stresses me, but I guess I was feeling more deprived of deeply technical nerding out posts than I knew
It's all good! Fun to wake up to, thanks for reading.

Scrolling through tags on a Dr Who post I saw you say you hate that your tag for Donna is now incorrect. Just thought I'd let you know, if you get Xkit Rewritten for desktop Chrome or FF, you can easily replace it with a fixed version. https://github.com/AprilSylph/XKit-Rewritten/wiki/Features#tag-replacer
of course maybe you know and it's just not worth the effort or whatever. Anyway, have a good day!
i appreciate it! i did kinda know - i know there at least USED TO BE a mass tag editor in the archive of your blog but lord knows if that’s there anymore. it’s not a super huge deal but i’ll look into it the next time i’m on my laptop
thank you!!

This is @clatterbane here. Somehow seem to have gotten locked out of my account a couple of days ago. Just sent another support request, after not hearing anything on the first one when I thought it might just be a server outage.
No idea why I haven't been able to access my account with login errors regardless of device/browser tried, but I did finally manage to set up another one. That didn't work either, the first few attempts. Still hoping to get back into my original account.
Reblogs would be appreciated, trying to locate more mutuals. More or less randomly tagging some people whose URLs I actually remember offhand.

You know what would be really great? A new NPF block type for code (or other monospaced material). Roughly like Markdown triple backquotes (```) (and as the code or pre element in HTML). Don't even need syntax highlighting (though I wouldn't say no to it), just the monospace, literal behavior is fine. Inline monospace, like single backquotes in MD would be cool to, but the block is more important IMO.
Very useful for discussing code in general, also for e..g. talking about tumblr themes and such on tumblr.
Answer: Hello, @ailurinae!
It would be cool! Very cool indeed. In fact, we actually discussed it in the @labs group, but put it fairly low on our priority list because we are not convinced that many people would use it.
In other words: it would be great, but it’s not worth the time right now when there are so many other things to work on. Never say never, however.
Love,
—Cyle

Excellent example. Though Musteloidea is the probably the clade that unites raccoons (Procyonidae) and red pandas (Ailuridae) (along with Mustelidae (weasels etc) and Mephitidae (skunks)). I don't think I've seen red pandas placed *within* Procyonidae, at least not any time recently?

Phylogeny is the study of branching evolutionary histories. Understanding phylogeny helps us paint a picture of our pals like the platypus, who their ancestors were, and why they look so... distinguished today. https://youtu.be/545PhCCpmlM

@ailurinae @hmskms @cweercrippledcrafter
Thanks for the support. I was mostly just seriously overwhelmed still when I was posting earlier.
Thankfully home now, and just about to get something in for the migraine from the anesthesia and the hours of fluorescent hospital lights in my eyes.
