Well, I got a bit carried away with this one... (つ ͡ꈍ ͜ʖ̫ ͡ꈍ )

I've heard a picture is worth a thousand words, so I wrote a short passage of the scene I had in mind while drawing this.

Although the estranged world of Demos had slowly grown on Alaris, the place that lay dormant below still induced a sense of dread. The infested tunnels, a living tomb of otherworldly creation. Damp and suffocating as the walls undulate around, leaving the sensation of spindly tendrils beneath the skin as the stagnant heat drapes over the environment. A place she rarely dared step foot herself, but with him she found herself a touch more courageous.

With Umbra she wasn't alone, the connection they shared was dissimilar from the other frames she’d piloted. For his mind lies at the surface of his being and not ensnared within the infested consciousness. Moving without aid, pulling her back from her missteps with a guiding hand. A companion in her regularly programmed solitude, there even when the fear reared its crippling head and accepting of the scars that define them. Like shattered seriglass imbued with restorative veins of gold, perfectly imperfect.

Not unlike the quirky place around them, with its ever-mutating splendor. Viborent in alarm for your impending peril, an ever-expanding labyrinth of dead ends. Where one must always remain vigilant, turn away for even a moment and the world keeps churning around. Beings manifest within the hollow walls and strike without mercy.

Something felt before it's seen.

Like an edge piercing the dulled rumbling of Umbra's restless mind, a silent cry across the rift that tethered them to one another. He turns to catch sight of the vile beast that's struck her, an overgrown tumor of meat and teeth that's emitting a sickly green glow. Alaris staggers backward as the putrid haze envelops her, a visceral cloud of living spores that's coated her lungs. Leaving her momentarily defenseless to the onslaught of infestation if not for her sentry wolf.

In an instant, the hostiles are eviscerated in a wisp of inky smoke, left in pieces scattered in every which direction; His divine blade making quick work of whatever unfortunate being dared to stand in its path. But his attention is trained elsewhere, a crumpled mass on the ground before him, and all he can see is red. Different from the writhing flesh of their surroundings, the red of Alaris’s blood, a fading warmth as life slips from the gash in her side. He kneels before her to press a guarded hand against the matted remains of her tunic, desperate to staunch the bleeding.

“I’m okay,” she tries to reassure his tilted gaze but the words come out as a distorted rasp. Coughing violently as a pained look consumes her features, composure siphoning away. Instead attempting an optimistic smile but it comes off overtly strained as her brows knit together, creases of sharp anxiety set between them. She reaches a small hand out to him but it lacks the strength to maintain grip, instead slipping down his face before going slack at her side. Looking up at him but with a dewy gaze already half empty and wishing nothing more than to be pulled back by the void’s song, but with the viral decay snarling and twisting around them, her mind's eye is clouded.

The link wavers.

Umbra’s giving her that hard stare, mutual understanding that she should retreat but she won't. Doesn't want to leave him here alone, for abandoning him in this wretched place is more than she can bear. Her fogged recollection is left pondering why they had come here in the first place. In hindsight, anything seemed minuscule to merit such a fate as this, but the thought fizzles out. Jarred back into focus by the gurgled chorus of snarls echoing down the corridor, an ominous reminder of their current plight.

Alaris turns back to him, looking for some sort of reassurance in his gaze but finds his attention also trained down the far passage, tensely awaiting the next confrontation. Her heart all but drops into the pit of her stomach as Umbra's grip leaves her to redraw his Nikana. More than certain he's about to jolt from her side to eradicate the oncoming enemies, but he doesn't. Instead sinking the blade into the fleshy ground before them. Conjuring up an ark of swords that cast forth and through the frenzied infested, lancing them into the cavernous walls.

Their wretched shrieks of agony echo down the passageway before reciprocating back with sharp refrain, a call for reinforcements. His hand returns to her side as she stiffens back a pained whine at the contact. Venting her growing frustration, Alaris grasps out with a strained hand. But without the conduit of her amp to filter the attack, it erupts from her palm untamed in shards of raw energy. Strong enough to maim but lacking enough malice to stagger the reinforced mutations slowly encroaching on them.

The appendage drops once more as her breath slows to a shallow murmur. Leaning against Umbra to feel the low rumble that's begun rapidly building in his chest. The offendingly loud howl he produces sends out a wave of pressure across the surrounding area, stunning the near-constant onslaught. Keeping the hostile beings at bay, if just for the moment, and blanketing Alaris’s nerves in unexpected solace.

His grasp wavers, glancing down at her weakened form with that sharp gaze of his. A wordless plea, a clear opening for her to leave before things take an uglier turn. Her features soften, eyes basked in familiar clarity before the air begins to crackle with charged static. The space before him shifts, warping around before she's lost to sight, here and not in the blink of an eye. And although he knows Alaris now lies in the safety of her transference chair, it never gets any less jarring. Watching powerless as she evaporates in a twinkling array of sparks, the void granting her safe passage. Melting away the pesky wounds as her corporeal timepiece rewinds, a gift and curse all at once. She would be okay, for he could still feel her caress in the back of his mind.

I mean, personally my preferred theory is that it's more like Dirthamen backseat driving the body and Quiz is still a mortal person who existed pre-Conclave and they're still in charge (has Alaris been possessed by one of his gods since childhood? Don't worry about it) because that's just very fun to me (look, I've been listening to a lot of Malevolent and the body sharing has taken over my brain), but the concept of Quiz actually being Dirthamen and he either made up a person wholesale or took over someone who died at the Conclave is good shit. And makes it even funnier that Solas didn't realize who he was. Also imagine the conversation with Solas at the end of Trespasser like.

Solas: The truth is that I am the Dread Wolf, Fen'harel. Quiz, literally Dirthamen the god of secrets: Wow what a. what a strange turn of events that someone in the Inquisition might turn out to be a Dalish god. What are the chances of that.

Larna tilted her head curiously from where she was perched in the rafters as she observed Katarina Claes, dressed in a clearly tailored gentleman's suit shut the door to Marquis Alarie's office, the sword in her hand pressed lightly against the man's throat, right against the skin covering the carotid. She had been intent on stealing some of the man's documents to find incriminating evidence, but things just got interesting...

"I could destroy you without getting a drop on my shirt, walk down to Isabelle's room, followed by Isaac's, and any relatives that are currently visiting," she noted, her tone as amiable as it had been when Suzanna Randall had heard it come from a child playing with Lady Mary, "The only survivor of that lineage, the denounced daughter, Isadora, the knight. Your holdings and your legacy would fade away outside of the ghost story of a man who went mad one night. Or, you can make things easier on yourself."

The man whimpered out a response, which caused her to smile as if she were reading in the royal library with Sophia Ascart.

"All you have to do, Jacques, is exactly what I say when I say it," she smiled again, this expression more fitting on a wolf finding a wounded sheep, "Because now you know that your guards will listen to me over you, and that I have rules I expect you to follow moving forward, for the betterment of Sorcier..."

this is my third attempt at this post. I am using the list compiled by outsports here. i highly encourage you to click through and read about each of these athletes.

below the cut is the list of the 182* out lgbtq+ athletes at the tokyo games. from the outsports list i have added some scheduling information -- if they've already competed, how they did, and if they are still competing/are yet to compete, when you can catch them. all times are US central daylight, because that's where I live.

representation in sport is SO important for lgbtq+ kids. allies, PLEASE make it a point to post about these athletes on your social media. making the olympic team is a HUGE accomplishment for anyone, and the social barriers that exist for most lgbtq+ athletes make it even MORE amazing.

Arranged by alphabetical order of sport. I have bolded the names of athletes who are still competing or will compete later in the Olympics. Athletes' names are italicized when they win a medal.

Canoe Slalom

Evy Leibfarth (USA) - Evy placed 20th in the K-1 slalom with a Run 1 score of 125.85 (lower scores are better). This put her into the semifinal where she placed 12th and missed qualifying for the final by two places. Evy placed 18th in the C-1 semifinal.

Florence Maheu (Canada) - Florence placed 13th in the K-1 slalom with a Run 1 score of 114.29. In the semifinals she placed 23rd.

Cycling

Georgia Simmerling (Canada) - Georgia competed in the women's team pursuit on the track. Team Canada placed 4th.

Valerie Demey (Belgium) - Valerie competed in the women's road race but did not finish.

Diving

Tom Daley (Britain) - This 4-time Olympian won his first gold medal in Tokyo on the 10m platform synchro with his diving partner Matty Lee. Tom won bronze in the 10m platform!

Anton Down-Jenkins (New Zealand) - Anton's event is the 3m springboard individual. Anton placed 8th in the final!

Cathrine Dufour (Denmark) - Cathrine competed in Team Dressage, in which her team placed 4th with a score of 7540.

Edward Gal (Netherlands) - Edward also competed in Team Dressage, finishing in 5th with a score of 7479.5.

Amini Fonua (Tonga) - Amini qualified for the Olympics in the men's 100m breaststroke. In the heats he was disqualified. :/ I haven't seen what it was he did to be DQ'd, but my guess (I swam breaststroke in high school and college) is that he did not finish his breakout dolphin kick before beginning his stroke off the blocks/wall. Will update if I figure it out.

Mélanie Henique (France) - Mélanie placed 11th in the women's 50m freestyle with a time of 24.63. She tied with Simone Manuel of America.

Ari-Pekka Liukkonen (Finland) - Ari-Pekka is a sprint freestyler. In the heats of the men's 100m freestyle, he placed 46th overall with a 50.48. Ari-Pekka placed 26th in the men's 50m freestyle heats.

Markus Thormeyer (Canada) - Markus is a backstroker who also competed in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, where Team Canada placed fourth. He placed 19th in the 100m backstroke and 16th in the 200m backstroke. Markus swam in the prelims and final of the men's 4x100m medley relay, placing 7th.

Jack Woolley (Ireland) - Jack, who is bisexual, competed in the men's 58kg event. He lost to Lucas Guzman of Argentina in the Round of 16.

eian é filho de um ômega e uma beta. sua mãe, porém, abandonou os dois rapazes quando eian tinha novo anos. “nos adultos, às vezes, o amor acaba” foi o que ela disse; 

ele não cresceu ressentido ou algo assim - por sorte, seu pai encontrou a outra metade da laranja:  uma alfa. ellen é coreana e foi para a europa afim de concluir o mestrado, e por lá mesmo ficou. ao contrário do pai de eian, ellen acredita nas histórias de soul mate. foi atrav��s de ellan que eian conheceu a história. 

em casa, o garoto aprendeu o coreano com ellen. a alfa é professora, e eian sofreu certas influencias, naturalmente, com a mesma. resultado: nasceu em si o desejo de seguir o caminho acadêmico. por isso, entrou no curso de história e pretendo também lecionar. 

a chance de ir para aurora foi única, e uma vez já perto de se formar, foi pegar ou largar. e ele pegou. primeiro, pois queria conhecer a cultura tão diferente de seu país. segundo, porque era a cultura de sua mãe de coração. terceiro, há três anos, havia se tornado o irmão mais velho. eian não viu forma melhor de se aprofundar em parte da cultura no sangue do irmão que não passando um tempo no país. 

a prova de proficiência o permitiu pegar matérias regulares no curso de história, mas também optou por extracurriculares. além dos estudos, ele dá aula particulares de inglês, sendo duas turmas com crianças, e francês, só com adultos. 

planos próximos que levarão à maldição:  

ele está em aurora desde setembro. o semestre acabou recentemente, mas ele conseguirá a oportunidade de escrever uns artigos... 

sendo assim, seu tempo de estadia será renovado, mas só saberá após o natal e ano novo! com mais um semestre em aurora, tentará pegar mais matérias - quem sabe o suficiente para praticamente (se não completamente) terminar o curso. resumindo: passará mais tempo em aurora!

Alaris: So at least some of the stories about the Dread Wolf are true. Solas: I did not lead a rebellion against immortal mage-kings without getting my hands bloody.

I wonder how deeply this cuts Solas. He doesn't like the Dalish stories, he doesn't like the inaccuracies, and he doesn't like that he's the villain in them. And here's his friend, possibly his closest friend in this world, saying "No, the stories were at least partially right about you". Solas doesn't want to admit that he's the villain, even knowing he's doing something terrible! He thinks he's making the hard but correct choice! It must sting to have his friend, someone who will ultimately be among his victims if he succeeds but whose life he intends to save at least for now, look at him and tell him that he is not the hero, even if he knows on some level that it's true.
