I’ve said this many a time, but to be absolutely clear. I think it’s ridiculous to claim that rykard and radagon had a “good” relationship, like rykard has dedicated his life to tearing down everything radagon stands for, which speaks to something deeply rotten in their relationship. however I also don’t think it’s wrong to say that rykard and radahn might still in a way seek their father’s attention; their use of red on their soldiers’ plumes to indicate their “pedigree” could be them invoking radagon’s reputation as a respected warrior so that they might be seen as strong like their father. and you could also interpret rykard’s very deliberately public acts of blasphemy as a cry for any kind of acknowledgement, even if it’s negative… as if he’s so tormented by what his father thinks that he’s determined to become the thing he’d hate the most. and then radahn’s obsession with being a heroic warrior could be interpreted as a response to him not feeling worthy in his father’s eyes after being left behind and “replaced.” I think this is a relationship with a lot of nuance… we know radahn looked up to radagon as a “champion,” and if the children viewed their father as a role model then those feelings aren’t just going to disappear even after his betrayal, they’re going to become tragic and warped. I see their relationship with radagon as full of resentment and hurt and hatred, but deep down, they wish their father could be proud of them (a feeling that could go back even further if radagon always had an air of secrecy and distance around him while they were growing up). I think it’s very likely that after radagon left, rykard and radahn both had a kind of “why wasn’t I good enough for you?” response that they both ran with in completely opposite ways. basically I think their relationship with radagon is way more complicated than simply “they loved him” or “they hated him”
yknow I love it when tdp fans are like "WOW we are getting FED recently with all these screenshots 🤯" and the food in question is a one-second clip of a monkey juggling and a blurry zoomed-in picture of someone's hands on another person's waist
i think shinei shinonome sees his younger self every time he looks at ena. i think he sees the naively innocent teenager who dared to create what made him happy, who was equal parts selfish and charming. and then he sees shinei: depressed and a shell of his former self, and he knows he has to stop her from becoming that way.
i think he believes this is breaking the cycle of hurt. he truly thinks he is doing ena a favor. either he doesn’t realize that he has become exactly what the art world was to him, or he’s just in too deep to stop.
but i for sure don’t think shinei sees how ena breaks the cycle every day. how she chooses compassion. how she kindly instructs honami in art, fighting against every instinct her dad left her with. how he was, in the end, leading her down the very same path as him, and she is the one choosing to walk away from it.
If Daisuke Ishiwatari ever drops substantial Gear biology lore you all better buckle the hell up because it's all I'm going to talk about. I've been unwell about Gear biology since translating Begin. Chomping at the bit over here. GIVE ME MORE
I don’t think Aaravos will have much use for Viren anymore (or for the time being at least!), but I believe that Viren’s not going to die.
This is due to the Discord S4 Q&As:
Mainly this, but more under the cut
From the Discord Hiatus Q&As, answered by Aaron Ehasz and Devon Giehl
The creators hint multiple times at more things in store for Viren: having a redemption arc (him using dark magic being a “bump on his inner journey”) and arc with Soren, with “their most meaningful interaction yet to come” over the last few seasons.
"The outer reaches of space remain unexplored by humankind to this day, but its greed is relentless. We grasp and yearn and hunger for knowledge— answers to questions we cry out into the endless void expecting to understand, expecting the stars to respond. The stars will not, but one day something else will— and we will not like what it has to say." — Rome Solomon, Beyond the Exosphere (1965)
This is only my second time doing a WxS teaser but I have come to despise them for never being clear as to what member it could be.
Okay so on the one hand, lots of purple and other things that suggest a Rui event. The gems are a big one, originating from the Curtain Call teaser and card set, but there's also the book, which reminds me a lot of the one from the Revival my dream teaser.
On the other hand though, you've got the stars and music notes that are more of a Tsukasa thing. Well, the music notes appear in a lot of teasers actually and don't have to denote Tsukasa, but considering he's the one with a musical background I tend to automatically associate him with them when they show up. Also the song in general makes me think more along the lines of Tsukasa, mainly because Rui tends to get songs with a sort of cool edge to them, and this is more fun and jazzy (something that was specifically turned down by staff when Karasuyasabou submitted his first draft for Showtime Ruler).
(TL from @/pjsekai_eng) The producer specifically mentioned the fact that Tsukasa was their first 4* card so they felt they had a connection to WxS, and daichan literally shouted out "Tsukasa! Banzai!" after the teaser was shown so maybe I'm leaning slightly more towards him.
There's an art deco theme to the teaser as well, but I think that could fit with either of them quite well (though maybe leaning slightly more towards Rui since Tsukasa tends to get more story-based card sets).
Anyway, enough of that. In terms of story again there's not any huge hints we can get. I'm assuming since WxS has just started freelancing that this event will be mainly working out the "what now" of it all. But then again it did seem like the Otoris worked out a lot of that offscreen in Happy Ending, and it's not like they have to really get their name out there after all the promotional shows. The Otoris set them up with a few contacts, but I'm not sure if we'll dive straight into that. Though as I said, a lot of the work for this was done offscreen, so it's not like we're gonna get an entire event dedicated to them doing organisation stuff like Re:START From Here.
The stars forming a vague moon (?) shape towards the end of the teaser caught my eye, I wonder if WxS is adapting a book (given the book + it seemingly being an rmd reference) and this somehow has relevance to that. I can't think of any specific stories though so if there is one involved they probably made it up again.
In conclusion, not sure whose event this is. Even the text is both their image colors, so... yeah. It's certainly an event for one of them alright. Either way they're probably both gonna be 4* so does it really matter at that point?
honestly wally is stronger than atlas. if i had to constantly calibrate to the nature of my reality w/ full consciousness i would simply lose my fucking mind
i need gwendolyn and (original) elias bouchard to be siblings/twins SO bad. i know it doesn’t make sense. i know it literally defies different universe logic and everything about the way that we’ve been introduced to tmagp. i also don’t care. i need it
I think in season 3 we need to have Ed visiting Izzy’s grave regularly. Like in the first episode we look at Ed and Stede’s life as innkeepers and it’s become a daily thing that Ed will go to Izzy’s grave and sit with him. Sometimes he just sits there in silence, sometimes he cries, sometimes he talks to him about his day, sometimes he rehashes old memories of the two of them from the good ol’ days. Most of the time he does it alone but some days Stede goes with him to support him when it’s too painful. No matter what he goes every day.
This also is the perfect opportunity to bring Con back to film some flashbacks from before season 1
nightbringer lesson 14 FUCKED ME UP in several ways but primarily I've spent the last 48 hours making myself sad over the solomon backstory we got. specifically I have, for no reason, latched onto that one chapter in the Kids event where baby solomon cried because he felt so guilty over being responsible for that spell. and that just feels a touch more depressing in context
