Big Bird Deli, Part 3

Now, I know you all want me to say I got a new job and rubbed it in my store manager’s face. Sadly, reality is often disappointing. My top choices so far sent back general rejection emails and I’m looking into different industries to branch into. Now, it's not all bad news, but in order to get into the good news, I need to tell you all a story about one co-worker; our constant call off, whom I’ll refer to as CCO. Buckle up for a long story.

CCO was transferred to our store from the one about five minutes down the road a little under three years ago now. I was still in my first year when she transferred in. As I worked with her, she seemed like a good co-worker. Knowledgeable, dependable, she even taught a bunch of tricks to make the job easier. Then, some things started to bubble to the surface.

At first, the only bad thing about her is that she took a long time in the bathroom, 10-15 minutes, pretty much a break without clocking out for one. CCO’s explanation for this was biological, but she couldn’t identify her condition. Skeptical, but ok. Then, she’d also take a long time to get a drink (Non-alcoholic). Managers caught sipping a drink in the break room, and even the training room (Small room with computers for basic training/OSHA/Food Safety) and told her multiple times, she could only do that on breaks. She’d also do stuff that led to numerous signs in our back hall. She’d try store dry food there, take drinks back there, and she’d be on her cell phone on her shift way too much (Mostly showing her cats, making notes, not talking or playing games).

Then, she began to talk constantly. She’d talk with customers even after their orders were done. I constantly saw customers get that “I need to get going but I don’t see my chance to leave yet” expression, and she’d keep blabbering on for a few more minutes as the customer slowly tried to inch away. But it wasn’t just customers, CCO would do the same to co-workers. She’d blabber on while doing nothing or only very small tasks. Sometimes her conversations sucked you in, even though the topics were things from youth, church, or constant updates about her cats (she and husband got up to FIVE cats, and yes, introductions to them included pictures.) I had the highest tolerance for these stories, not sure why.

Now, I can handle those things above. But it got worse. So. Much. Worse. After our store got remodeled just before CCO came in, tasks were updated to include not only sweeping the department floor every night but also washing and squeegeeing the floor. CCO made excuses so she wouldn’t be the one doing it. She’d do anything she could to pass it off on that night’s co-worker. She made excuses that it hurt her back, but refused time and time again to get a doctor’s note to excuse her from the task. She also made excuses that it was tiring, but she stopped those excuses after only a couple weeks. This, coupled with many closers forgetting some tasks, provoked our Deli Manager to make daily task sheets starting this past summer, mostly focused on the closing staff. I, personally, am ok with the sheets, as I view it as a tool to acclimate new employees to the department tasks.

But here’s the big one. She ‘began’ to get migraines within six months of her transfer. She’d slow and become less useful during work, taking long treks to get water and basic medicine that seemed to do the trick at first. The kicker is that she began to call off once every two weeks. Now, you may think that’s not so bad and it’ll count against her. Wrong. She applied for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) for her migraines. She could spend a TON of hours towards it, and she could reapply when she ran out. I started out sympathetic, as I have family members with migraines, but they have methods to curb it so they can work. CCO started calling off once a week. Twice a week. This year, it went up to three times a week. And it was almost always on the same co-worker, Nice Coworker (NC). NC became stressed, she didn’t even want to be scheduled with CCO because of it, but sometimes had no choice. I saw NC break down in tears multiple times. She threatened management to not call her if CCO called off on Sundays, cuz she wouldn’t come in at all. Our deli manager retaliated by trying to schedule CCO less. CCO retaliated by complaining about her hours and claiming hours of other co-workers due to seniority!!! She’d just take their shifts and call-off anyway! So not only was she causing hours to drop, she was basically stealing money from people who actually show up for work.

This all caused morale and productivity to plummet. We were stressed, aggravated even. All the while management still wanted everything perfect while not addressing the problem. And since we’re union, management has to give CCO chance after chance before she’s finally fired or CCO will just run and cry to the union about ‘unfair termination’. We also got wind from people in the store down the street (Sometimes people over here have to cover over there and vice versa) that this behavior happened down there, but not to the extent it got down here, and was the reason CCO transferred. We also learned that she’s had this behavior at all the past jobs she told anyone about. This woman is ten years older than me and hasn’t learned any lessons about her behavior.

Oh, but the cherry on top of this comes in the form of gaslighting and manipulation. CCO dared to call NC her friend while she was claiming NC’s hours and calling off on her! CCO would apologize and say that she “was a shitty person,” and that we “must hate her”. Insincere apologies, self-bashing designed to make you say “No, you’re not a piece of garbage!”(even though she was). CCO also spread rumors about a friend who’s like a brother to me (from another department) when he briefly got in deep trouble. She did this because she thought she could get his full-time position once he was fired (A position that took him being there 12 years and his manager begging multiple times on his behalf to get). Needless to say, I heard through the grapevine and began to truly hate her.

Oh, and remember those call-offs? CCO’d often do those on the weekend, y’know, the busy times. Especially Sundays. Since she was a “Good Christian™”, she’d want to go to church on Sundays. Ok. Reasonable. Then, she called off on Sunday evenings, a shift that’s hell to close alone. Again, on NC mostly. She’d do this repeatedly until our Deli Manager decided to not schedule her on Sunday, two weeks in a row. CCO smirked and told NC that “Her plan had worked!” and that she won’t work Sundays (She didn’t put them off on her availability because it was discouraged, and sometimes even rejected, to not work weekends). To say that, and say that to the person she called off on constantly, is just despicable. Many of us told our deli manager as soon as possible. If she didn’t schedule CCO on Sundays, she’d work on Sundays in any department she had experience in (she’s cross-trained in the Hot foods and meat departments).

At the start of this year. Everyone in the department hated her. Some would be catty or strictly business with her. I opted to pretend to not want to rip her face off, otherwise, I risked forwarding that bile to customers, and I have cried on CCO’s shoulder in the past due to previous work-related bullshit (not the story above). But, we finally had some news from the grapevine; CCO’s doctor AND corporate had picked up on her FMLA abuse. It was flagged as abuse because during times her FMLA expired and needed to be redone her migraines had ‘mysteriously’ disappeared. No call-offs until after FMLA was reinstated. Her doctor told her that he wouldn’t approve more and even if he did, it wouldn’t be approved by the company. By our calculations, she’d run out at the end of May. She ran out mid-May. All we had to do was wait.

And this past week, the good news! Turns out CCO didn’t help NC much the Saturday of my paid vacation. NC went to Store Manager on Wednesday, on her day off, to report CCO. Store Manager told NC that CCO, and potentially all of the deli, was going to get pulled into the office soon one by one. Details couldn’t be said due to confidentiality but NC said that shit was about to go down, we all just didn’t know what. On Friday, now mid-June, our Union Steward (A worker to represents the union while not working for the union directly) came and got CCO and pulled her into the office with Store Manager. Ten minutes later, CCO was escorted out of the store by Loss Prevention. The scales finally tipped when the customer complaints stacked up, and that she got into a verbal argument with a co-worker (Not me or NC) with a manager as a witness. Said co-worker was at the store on her day off, shopping and chatting with us briefly. While CCO passed by, CCO called her a bitch, in earshot of Loss Prevention. But that was the last we’ve seen of CCO.

Slight dancing was had, and upper management reminded us that this is an opportunity to turn the deli around. We got a new person who started during my vacation. She’s absolutely amazing and gets along with everyone. It’s only been a few days, but already other departments are commenting that the deli seems happier and that a great weight has been lifted. I always joked about giving CCO this big speech in a dark, even tone and saying she needs to go on disability or welfare if her work ethic or migraines are that bad. But, I decided against doing a big Facebook drama thing. Instead, I blocked her on social media and her phone number. I’m glad to finally cut her out of my life permanently.

As for me? I’m still at Big Bird. Now that the main problem is gone, I can take my time finding a good job and not go for the first one that gives me an interview. I still want to leave because of upper management, and I haven’t received confirmation that my write up was overturned. Things are looking up, and I’m glad we now have a solid, competent team as we get ready for the 4th of July sales.

Last word: I was going to post this as is, but today, I heard something amazing. A co-worker had to work a split shift, beginning down the road then coming up to our store. Turns out, CCO didn’t tell her husband that she got fired! She told him she was on vacation! And he works down the street! I busted up laughing, imagining scenarios when he finds out she lied. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall for that confrontation. :3

Not much has happened other than a co-worker getting fired and absolutely deserving it after putting the deli under so much stress.

Hihi Cat! I've come to deliver some good news! (This is pretty long huhu ToT)

MY ERB HAS BEEN APPROVED AND I CAN PROCEED TO RECRUIT PARTICIPANTS!! Ahh it's been such a blessing to be able to proceed immediately! I've actually hit my target amount of participants in less than a day (IT'S CRAZY) but I'm gonna collect more responses cuz the more the better! (Would you wanna check the questionnaire out? I can PM you the link!! :3)

Also also I PASSED THAT FINALS! The one I took a day after my vaccination (1st dose) ToT GAHH I'm so happy I won't even ask for more, it's enough :3

I've been writing my thesis during this sem break but it's progressing pretty slowly cuz I've been so drained from last semester and the vaccine itself. Huhu but I've written a brief rundown for my proposal so there's a rough idea there, just needa rly assemble it into a clear narrative. And yes I agree! Psychology studies are a beautiful fusion of science & human essence imo, and its fascinating learning more abt ourselves and how we as the human species progress in life ya know? 😌

I got my second dose exactly a week ago and got the same side effects - headache, arm soreness, hunger, fatigue; I felt like a fusion of psyduck & snorlax HAHAHAHA 😂 - it wasn't anything serious so yay I'm fully vaccinated! (in a few weeks time keke I'll be)

HAHAHAHA my vaccination appointments were pretty eventful. The nurses and volunteers were all so warm and friendly! I'm the type of person who feels whatever's being injected into me, it's not the pain that I wanna distract myself from (it wasn't pain tbh) but that sluggish discomfort I get from the needle ejaculation >//< sooo as they showed me the vile and syringe before injecting me, I prepped my Yangyang photocard in my hand. During my second dose, the nurse thought I had some fancy way of taking a video when in actual fact I was just looking at my Yangyang photocard hehe UwU she asked me whether I wanted to see the needle going in (smtg I can't look at tbh) and I was like HELL NAH ToT

UwU my sem break is ending this week, but I've spent my time completing my academic research trainee tasks (transcribing audio clips), I've also created the content & design for my uni's newsletter, did some thesis writing, and I took a course on financial planning on Coursera to prep myself for the adulting life ToT

And idm sharing my back up / failed topics! I didn't have a lot of cards in my hands, but here are some of em!

Tbh I can't think of a fav ice cream flavor hmm 🤔 i rly didn't think it'd be so hard thinking of a fav ice cream flavor but the first that comes to mind is green tea! I like them milky flavored ice cream😍 though my fav from this ice cream place I go to is thai milk tea, it's so fragrant and milky!! 🥺💖 I just got myself a tub of milk & biscoff gelato keke UwU what's yr fav ice cream flavor? :3

For my course structure:

We have 2 long sems (Jan - Apr, & Aug - Dec, 16 weeks) & a short sem (May - July, 9 weeks)! Our sem breaks are only around a month then it's back to sleepless nights ToT AND YES those weeks were the most stressful weeks ever 🥺😭 I'm glad I'm graduating soon for that reason 😂(though idk what awaits in the working world ToT that is another fear I have :/)

Thank you for being part of this journey and being open to listening to my lil adventures! 🥺🙆🏻‍♀️💖😭 esp w the amount of responses and ppl helping me, I feel a lil more motivated to work and excel in this pregnancy (thesis, I call it pregnancy cuz it's around 9 months too HEHE) Since the pandemic, it's been pretty hard separating studies & hobbies :/ I've learnt it the hard way from my period cramps last sem (mine's the severe type where you can faint ToT), and it was also on my last paper for finals !! Very traumatizing ._. but I'll continue to manage myself better! :3

Huhu Cat since you're working now, I also wanna ask abt yr experience in job seeking! Cuz unemployment is a real deal here esp. w everything that's going on :') I don't have working experience either (only had 1 through internship) and it literally feels like I'm going into the unknown ToT I've been running over some case studies and assessments just to better prep myself for this. Do you have any advice as someone who's already working? UwU

for my 3D design class, I decided to do lightbulbs and flowers as my overarching theme for my art pieces !! I included a couple pictures below under the cut at the bottom 💓 the first one is a soft sculpture made out of newspaper, and there’s a pencil next to it for size reference, the second one is made of wires that I shaped myself, and the third one is made of foam boards that I cut and assembled myself as well 💕 and I included a picture of my final painting project! it’s a triptych and I believe the size was like 18 x 24 for each one? If you click on the picture, it should be better quality!

omg I love green tea ice cream too !!!!! 🍵🍦 I like going to somi somi for their matcha and milk swirl ice cream with red bean taiyaki 💚 I only had thai milk tea ice cream once, but it was phenomenal 🤩 I wish they sold it near me too !! milk and biscoff :o I’ve never tried that flavor! I’ll have to see if it’s sold around here :’) green tea is my favorite, but I also really like everything but the... from Ben and Jerry’s !! 💛 also alcoholic ice cream.... like there’s this one kind where it was a breakfast esque type with vanilla, corn flakes, and bourbon, and it was delicious 😋

omg what 😭😭 you’re basically going to school year round with no break bahsjdjdjdkd when I was in uni, i had a month off for winter break (usually something like dec 9 - jan 9) and then mid june to mid September off, so around three months of summer vacation? Your school schedule sounds absolutely brutal 💀💀

and omg of course !!! Thank you for letting me be a part of the journey 🥺💗 bdjdjddj pregnancy omg that’s such an interesting way of seeing it :o sending you all my love and support for a successful delivery of your thesis baby 🥰🥰 oh yeah, it’s definitely been a struggle to separate everything, especially when the lines between home and workspace blur with online school or working from home. And oh my god ???? Are you okay ?? Did you go see a doctor or take any medication? I hope you’re feeling better now !! Please take care of yourself 😭

ah, I got my job through my internship, so I’m not sure how helpful I will be 😅 but during the process of interviewing for internships, there were several rounds for each company that range from a group interview, a one on one interview, video interview where they give you random questions that you have to answer on the spot (some of mine were discuss the stock market, give a sales pitch on something you’re interested in, etc), a test, etc. I think it’s different depending on the job you’re going for, but that’s what I had to do in the business field! It’s important to study and prep for all of this!! It’s like taking an verbal exam for one of your classes. And also make sure to study the company’s website and familiarize yourself with what they do/sell.

My one piece of overall advice would be about interviews! Interviews are important in which the person interviewing you is seeing if you’ll be a good fit with the company, not in terms of skill, but personality. They already know you’re qualified and have good skills - that’s how you got the interview. With the interview, they’re essentially trying to see how personable you are and if you will work well with their team. Some people are so intent on proving their skills that they kinda just rattle off all their achievements and whatnot, and it’s like... the interviewer already knows this, it’s all on the resume they reviewed when they decided to give the interview offer. Be friendly, open, maybe make a little small talk at the beginning (“hey, how are you? any weekend plans / how was your weekend?” This is what I did for all my business interviews, and I got an offer back from every one 🤧💗), make appropriate jokes / be a little funny, just show that you’d be a fun person to have in the office whom people will want on their team, but that you will also be dedicated to the job and work hard 💘

okay so tbh i have only revealed my kpop love to select people in my life IRL...buuuut im working on being more open about it bc these boys give me so much laughter and joy and it's good to be excited about things!! yesterday my mom discovered kpop and i came running into her room to be like omg let me show you MY FAV GROUP NCT. she didnt seem to vibe with the songs i showed her but honestly i get that cuz sometimes for me, i listen to an NCT song and im like ehhh but then i keep listening and im like wait this song is actually so good (this has happened with kick it, limitless, maw, work it...to name a few)

omg also yes i am familiar with tsundere and anime terminology!! i do watch anime - not as much as i used to, but i still enjoy a good anime :)) some of my favs are hunterxhunter, toradora, fmab, my hero academia, anohana...wow how many am i gonna name, anyway if you dont watch a lot of anime pls feel free to disregard this paragraph and we can continue talking about kpop lmao

HAHA i love that yes taeil go pursue your dreams (winwin) i support you 💕wait i also love that rj just says stuff straightforwardly!! like i think on some show (was it weekly idol?) he literally said, yea the company wants me to have an innocent image (but i'm not)...and i think one time a saseang fan called jeno during a vlive and rj literally took the phone immediately and was like can you stop calling...go renjun! but yea i feel like during their awsaz ep doyoung was kinda scared cuz hes kinda soft lmao (not a bad thing) but i loved the chaos in their eps!!

i liked awsaz!! for me, some eps were definitely funnier than others lol but i really like the concept and it's something only nct can do! the jaehyun/jisung ep was prob my second favorite even tho i cringed a lot but in the best way possible. i would LOVE to see them continue doing awsaz with wayv members!! like the ep with winwin/jisung (and henderey/haechan hosts) was so great!! also lmao jisung is just awkward with everybody, they could literally make a whole awsaz show with just jisung 😂 (also a side note: i love how he is still the maknae even after sungchan/shotaro joined haha he will always be our NCT baby 🥺)

as for what i didnt like...dont hate me but some of the missions were a little...slow for me? like in some eps when they just take the selfies and decorate it in the book i kinda skimmed those parts 😅 i think it would be cool if they had more missions that require them to actually do things with each other (i guess kinda like icebreakers lmao even tho i personally hate icebreakers) - like in the winwin/js episode, they involved the hosts and had them do some drawing thing that was funny. but actually i guess it also depends who the hosts are, i feel like some host combinations are funnier (whether bc of their chemistry with the participants or each other) so maybe that can't really be controlled

oooh wait one of my close friends is also a taurus!! love that haha (i dont rly take horoscopes super seriously (even tho i do think im kinda a virgo) but theyre interesting to look at)

i have some svt songs in my kpop playlist (i love hug (it’s so calming) and also my my)!! i think i kinda looked into them back in like 2016 but i wasnt rly a kpop fan back then, i will check them out now cuz i love me a talented and chaotic kpop group :))

p.s. for my ss gift hehe do you have any specific things you'd want me to gif? otherwise i will do something based on our conversations (which i think makes it mildly obvious who i'm gonna gif)!! also pls forgive me my giffing skills could be better but i try my best and they are 100% certified made with love 💖

ohh i understand that! my irl friends judge me for loving kpop so much (not all of them) but, frankly, i couldn’t care less because there’s nothing wrong with loving kpop so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my mom, however, puts up with me and my kpop obsession very well tbh she does pay attention when i show her their stages and songs and even some funny content~ and so far she loves jaehyun, minghao(svt) and jisoo(bp) the most (all 3 for their visuals lmaoo) dhagfdshgad as far as the music goes, she reeeeeally loves from home 🥺 (tho i really love those overproduced hype songs, so for me it’s not hard to vibe with them right from the start lmao and esp kick it and maw those were love at first sight! here’s a funny story related to kick it: as you already know i’m a dancer and bc i immediately fell in love w kick it i learned the whole choreo for that song, usually i only know chorus or the dance points, and my mother watched me and she said i was really good i could fit well in 127 ghdafgds ahhh what an ego boost thanks mom everyone should have you as their mom tbh)

no way!!! you love anime!! aaa i’m excited now!!! when i was younger i watched a lot of anime and i mean a LOT; i’ve seen everything you listed here! lmao not my proudest moment... i also really love hxh!!!! i also remember loving code geass, tengen toppa gurren lagann, neon genesis evangelion and even the gundam series (i’m a simple person i see mecha and i fall in love immediately lmao even my fav cartoon of all time is the one i watched when i was like 5-7?? it was a korean manhwa, hamos the green chariot, which is also about the big robots djahsd) + all the shoujos lmao (nana best shoujo ever) i also really loved kuroko no basuke and fairy tail????? and all the popular ones (ie naruto, bleach, pokemon etc)

ohh i know that moment when he called the sasaeng out for bothering jeno hgafdagjdgah ICONIC we stan a legend 🤧✊

yeah i agree that some episodes were funnier than the others and some missions were just boring ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but it’s okay i guess majority of the ep is still interesing!! omg same!! i love jisung he is so precious and it would be amazing if he just stayed the maknae of nct until the end! (highly unlikely i guess but a girl can dream) they could definitely make a spin off awsaz - jisung and nct and it would be so funny lmaoooo and winwin is an awkward cutie as well so!! 🥰🥰

AHHH I’M SO GLAD YOU LOVE HUG it’s one of my favorite songs 🥺 do it santa you won’t regret!! their music is soooo good!!!!! and the performances are next level

p.p.s AHH I LOVE MFAL TOO (shocking) and ikr??? THEY GREW UP SO MUCH 😭 but esp jisung???? he reeeally changed omg!!! and chenle!!! now they look all grown up i’m 🤧 emotional

Heyyy! I’m not so sure I’m a fast or slow reader, it depends on my state of mind, if I take my meds and external interruptions. Usually I can read pretty fast if it’s something I’m interested in but I tend to miss things and have to read it again, with school things I’m the worst. I still have things from last year that I never got around to read and one of them was about superman (I miss studying cinema because we could have an entire class about superman and co and then write fanfiction of the world as an activity). We don’t have summer classes here, that sounds interesting, it’d be nice to get ahead, also it’s about to be winter here so after July we’ll get maybe a month off and then it’s back to being unresponsible adults. I’ve nothing against drinking and partying, I like drinking (parties are usually weird but sometimes it’s cool) but don’t freaking leave class to do it, go after the class, how disrespectful is it to leave the poor teacher there waiting 20 minutes to see if the rest of the class will show up or they’ll have to do with six or seven people? Also you pay over 1.000 bucks a month to study and you don’t give a shit about being in class? it’s throwing money away and it’s disrespectful to whoever is paying school, even if that someone is yourself. I’m not those kids that say you should only do what’s right and never skip class never drink or do anything because you have to study instead of throwing your life away. But school is expensive and respect is something you should have for everyone (unless someone is a jerk, because it’s not murder if the person is a jerk…jk)

I never liked studying in the mornings but it’s sort of better, however, my classes only exist at night, there is morning journalism classes, but it’s in another neighborhood and we have to cross the bridge and there’s no cool campus. I like my campus.

group projects are the worst. They end friendships, they end marriages, they end happiness, they lead to murder… it’s never fun. I always imagine that scene with the guy getting pizza and coming back to the place on fire and people bleeding, or that one from Mean Girls with the fighting over Aaron Samuels in animal style. I do read comics, not as much as I’d like, but I also watched all of the DC cartoons (minus Legion because it looks dumb) most of Smallville and Lois & Clark and when I want to know some more I read about the storylines and all, like even when I don’t read the comic itself, I read about the comic. I won’t say I know all about everything, but I can hold my ground, I guess, I’m also not above admitting I don’t know/haven’t read enough about one subject/character and reading about that on one of the sites I trust. Also watched a lot of Marvel cartoons and most of the movies aaaand I read a lot of Marvel comics, specially Balck Widow, Hawkeye, and Young Avengers.

Did you watch any superhero cartoons? They were a pretty big deal in the 90′s and early 2000′s.

If I Ruled The World

The world would be quite a bit different if I were its supreme dictator. Oh yes, I am in favor of a dictatorship, as long as that dictator is me! And here's how it would go.

A few disclaimers before we begin: 1) Keep your expectations low when you read this. You won’t like everything I list but you won’t hate it all either. This is due to me being neither a liberal or a conservative solely but rather bits and pieces of each. 2) I am making this rant for my own entertainment and the entertainment of the few people who enjoy it when I rant. I am not making this in hopes of starting a debate on what is right or wrong, stupid or smart. If I sound like an idiot to you, cool. Let me sound like an idiot in peace! With that said, keep your lame ass argumentative comments out of my inbox. Thanks. Ok on with the rant!

First of all, I'd have to setup a single worldwide government. The current rulers of all current nations would become representatives of their respective countries on my World Senate. Of course, being a dictator I don't really need a Senate, but it's nice to have. As long as they know that anything they decide can get shit-canned by me, then it's all good. Not Bush though. And definitely not T.rump. I would pass a law that no-one in the Bush/T.rump family is ever allowed to enter politics ever again. I'd make 0bama the President again so he could be the American Senator, cuz I liked him. It goes without saying that I'd first pass all sorts of Youth Rights laws. Every age-based law would be abolished and replaced by laws that actually make sense. For example, the driving age would get axed and be replaced by a more rigorous driving test. In fact, we have way too many stupid drivers out there as it is, so the WHOLE driving test would have to be retaken by everyone. I would bring back beheading as the favorite execution style. Lethal Injections are for pussies. What the fuck is scary about getting a shot that puts you to sleep? Fuck no, if you did something bad enough that you deserve to die, you're gonna lose your head, bitch! Murderers get the death penalty, period. No life imprisonments for assholes who kill people. You kill someone, you die, that's all. (Note: DP would however only occur with a substantial amount of concrete evidence) Rapists get the death penalty. If she said no, then it's NO, motherfucker. If you beat your kids, you get put in chains in the middle of Times Square and people can pay $1 for one punch or kick. The beatings stop when someone draws blood (cuz we don't wanna kill your ass). On the 3rd offense, an angry mob gets to beat your ass into a coma. If you come out of it, your kids can decide whether you should live or die. If you molest a kid, whatever part of your body touched them gets painted with acid. Then you go to the chopping block! If you steal from someone, you lose your rights and freedom for 1 year and become your victim's endentured servant. On the 3rd offense, you will work until you have paid for 10 times the value of the item stolen or for 5 years, whichever comes first. Marijuana is legal in Salt’s World. It will be tightly regulated and heavily taxed, because if you're gonna be a pothead, you're gonna fucking pay for it. Growing your own shit or selling it without a license will be considered stealing from the government and you get the punishment for theft (see above). Drunk drivers get no chances. First offense of drunk driving means you lose your license for life, in theory. I say "in theory" because it will work sort of like a life sentence in prison works. You can be brought up for "parole" and a committee will assess whether you deserve to get your license back. Such assessments will occur once every 10 years. If you beat your wife, I annul your marriage and place a restraining order against you. I don't care if she gives me that brainwashed crying bullshit "but he loves me, he didn't mean it, really he doesn't abuse me." You hit her, you lose her, and that's final. I will have my government scientists figure out an alternative to abortion that everyone can live with. Preferably, I'd like to see us be able to remove an embryo and continue to grow it in a lab. People who're trying to adopt always want babies and they always have to wait years for one. Not anymore. Furthermore, it seems that adoption is frowned upon due to it being so difficult to get approved and those who do get approved have a predisposition for choosing pretty, white INFANTS. Under my control, a new process will be drawn up to make it not only easier to adopt regardless of sexuality, marital status, etc but make it so that people don’t get to “select” which child they want. First come, first given, end of story. If you really want a child, you wouldn’t be that gdamn picky anyway. If you don’t want your child, that’s fine and well. We will literally take it out of your stomach (same concept as aborting) and grow it for you. Real abortions will only be allowed if a health risk to either mother or child comes up. This is how I would attempt to find middle ground, a compromise if you will. My government will fund cloning research. I want to be able to clone stem cells and body parts. If this can be done, maybe sick and dying patients won't have to wait year after year for suitable donors. In a world where everyone is part of the same government, there's not much need for massive armies. A global police force will be instituted as the next step above Federal officers. So, it would go, local cops, state cops, federal cops, global cops. Without an army to feed, clothe, etc. a shitload of money would be freed up to make people's lives better. There won't be anymore fucking hunger in my world. Every single farm worldwide will be required by law to give 5% of their yearly output to the government for distribution to the poor. They will, of course, receive a humongous tax break for doing this and any farm that voluntarily gives in excess of 15% will pay no taxes at all. Yes, I know this will make the cost of food rise globally. Too bad. You pay a dollar more for your T-bone and you can just cry about it, but at least some little Ethiopian can have some fucking potatoes that night. And in retrospect, under my administration, the percentage of poor people in the world should lower dramatically if not disappear altogether if you play your cards right. But until this global shitshow is corrected, that’s what would have to happen. Medicine will no longer be big business. All wealthy citizens under my rule will see a tax increase, which will pay for everyone's healthcare. No more private insurance companies, it's going government-issue, baby! And, by the way, under my rule the words "government issue" won't be a synonym for "piss poor." No one should be groaning about this because the minimum wage will also see an increase to an actual living wage proportional to the cost of living that will make workers and their families happy and also boost consumer sales, thus increasing the profits of businesses everywhere. The lack of insurance plans employers now have to provide for their employees will free up some of that extra cash. We're dismantling nuclear weapons and using their radioactive components as fuel. What the fuck do we need nukes for when all the world is united under one government? I will pass a law stating once and for all that all sentient life on this planet is entitled to equal treatment and protection under the law and that no law may be passed which contradicts this. Gay marriage: Legal. If you file a stupid lawsuit, we throw you in jail for 3 months. This includes suing the tobacco industry when you're the one who lit up 50 times a day for 30 years, moron. You also can't sue because you're fat. Watch what you eat and exercise if it bothers you so much! I will force Microsoft, Apple, and all those Google people to work together and create "The Uber OS." It'll run Windows programs and Mac programs (all versions) and Google programs (all flavors). All the drivers will work interchangeably. They will all be told that if the OS ever crashes, they each lose a family member! Mwahahahahaha. (kidding obvs). Every citizen will be allowed to carry a sidearm, as long as the sidearm is worn in plain view (like the old west). Every citizen carrying a gun had better remember the price they'll pay for murder. Unless it's self defense or defense of another's life, don't pull that gun! Significant resources will be diverted to build subway systems. City-wide, State-wide, Nation-wide, and World-wide systems will be built. Any system that is Interstate or beyond must be supersonic. The World-wide system must reach speeds of Mach 2 or greater (don't try standing up on the train, bitch!). The purpose of this subway network will not only be to facilitate free travel across the globe, but also to provide countless millions of new jobs that should adequately handle our planet's homelessness and unemployment problems. I should've mentioned taxes earlier, but here it is. The worldwide tax brackets will be as follows: everyone making 10k or less will owe 12% (you can omit the extra 2% with a financial hardship exemption form but it should be noted that no full-time adult worker should be making that much under my leadership so this should be doable without a person’s quality of life taking a hit), everyone making between 10,001-99,999 will owe 15%, everyone making $100k-$200k will owe 30%. Everyone over 200k will owe 50%. Surely you don't think the money for all these great improvements is just gonna fall from the sky? Recycling will become mandatory. We throw away far too much shit. Why chop down a rainforest when there's enough paper in a city dump to fill a library 10 times over?! We will also have to become far less dependent on fossil fuels. I'll work out a timetable for eventually outlawing fossil fuels in favor of electric, solar, and nuclear power. Go back to that city dump and imagine how many atoms are sitting their going to waste when we could be smashing them and reaping the benefits. Prison overcrowding? No problem! Legalizing weed and making drugs a medical issue instead of a criminal one should take care of this problem for the most part and as for the rest, well, Antarctica is just sitting there not doing a damn thing, it's time we put it to use. Remember the penal colony "Rura Penthe" from Star Trek VI? Yup, it'll be something like that. No guard towers, no fence, nothing. If you wanna escape, go ahead. You'll just freeze to death, idiot. Otherwise, you'll stay right there in prison and serve out your sentence. Imagine how many new jobs a prison that size will create? And the cost of feeding them will be negligible. They'll have giant heated greenhouses for growing everything they eat. They don't work to grow it, they don't eat. In other words, a prison sentence means you serve your time as a farmer in the middle of frozen fucking nowhere. Jon Stewart will be appointed as my press secretary. At least all my press releases will have the whole world laughing their asses off. Minimum Wage will be increased to $12.50/hr. I think Ronald McDonald can afford to buy used overhauls for a while so that his employees don't have to shop at the Salvation Army. Corruption in government would be gone. No one is allowed to spend more than $500 on their election campaigns. They can put up a fucking website and do grassroots shit. That way there's no big corporate donations and shit to deal with. Plus, politicians are gonna become like preachers: We give them a place to live and a minimal salary, that's it. No big bucks, no fancy cars, nothing. It's not gonna be about the money. All the money we cut from politicians can go to teachers, cops, firemen, etc. Y'know, the government employees who actually fucking DO something worthwhile and give back to society. Pro Athletes get capped at $90,000/yr. None of this being a rich bastard because you play a fucking game. Maybe then, only people who LOVE the sport and DON'T corrupt it will find their way in. Just like with the politicians, when it's not about the money only people who actually give a fuck will want the job. Ninety grand a year is still a damn good salary. It's not like they'll be poor. The RIAA and MPAA will be told once and for all to shut the fuck up about Peer-to-Peer. They should've jumped on the bandwagon when it got rolling, now they can just suck it up. By the way, musicians and actors are capped at $60,000/yr. They can still have the royalties on their music, movies, concerts, commercial deals, etc. Wouldn't be fair to take that away from them. However, the industry will still be encouraged to develop better copyright protection methods so that all the true geeks can still enjoy the immense thrill of breaking a copyright protection scheme only days after it's implemented. They've gotta have something to do on a dateless Saturday night. Wouldn't want to rob them of that. We'll be having a government-sponsored betting pool on how long it takes the industry to figure out that copyright protection is fucking useless (they spend years developing some new state-of-the-art system and once it's released, a 13yo breaks it in 2 days... get a clue). SPAM will be made illegal! The punishment for spamming is 5 years in the Antarctic Prison Colony! I think that just about covers the basics. Of course, I could probably go on all fucking night with this shit, but if I kept going I'd never get this rant posted. Just know that there's like a billion more cool things I'd do. I might just have to make a sequel to this rant. Until then....... Salt for president 2020.

Hi there, I am trying to put a question here for the yahoo community in a bit detail to give a clear picture of situation and try to get some useful information regarding it. What happened is my car got stopped over by police and towed away by their recovery van. Now i am getting an impounded car insurance to get it back ( Long story short , the car i was driving was without insurance as i had not received letter of my insurance cancellation and i was under the impression that i had insurance. By the way i had paid them in full for one year in advance and it was not a monthly direct debit payment ) I have searched and able to get a quote from two well know car insurance companies ( One of them is Impoundedcarinsurance.com and other is INSURENCE CHOICE ) and both companies are asking for DIRECT TRANSFER OF MONEY IN THEIR BANK ACCOUNT as they don't accept Credit Cards and Debit cards for the payment of temporary insurance. Today i and yesterday, i spent my whole days to contact these companies and get information for method of payment. I have a few points here to ask and i am sure your valuable information will guide me to make a decision to buy the insurance for my impounded car. ->First of all, I called my previous company which cancelled my insurance to persuade them for a temporary insurance to get my IMPOUNDED CAR BACK, The customer assistant simply stated that none of their policies can be used to get an impounded car back from compound. So they don't provide temporary cover for impounded cars at all. -> The second and more important thing is as i stated before, i had called a couple of companies yesterday for impounded car insurance ( In-fact i googled Impounded car insurance in Uk on google and it gave the names of main companies on FIRST PAGE OF GOOGLE ). If you would ever google Impounded Car Insurance , you would see one of them is INSURANCE CHOICE and they provide insurance for impounded car. -> And with that i called Insurance Choice today and spoke to the person who gave me the insurance quote yesterday for my impounded car and told me the method of payment as of Online Transfer to their account (Yesterday he told me that they don't take credit or debit card payment as mostly people take the insurance and get their car out of compound with the help of the insurance certificate and later on cancel the insurance giving the reason of unauthorized payment and hence claim the insurance money back, so that's why they do online transfer only). Today i was FRANK AND STRAIGHT TO HIM and told him about my question asked on different online forums and all the answers and suggestions which were discussed with me. I told him simply that it looked too suspicious to pay them by online transfer and hence i feared of losing my money and it can be a spam !!! -> Well the person there maintained and cleared his position by stating that He was going to give their company's sort code and Account number and it can be verified in the bank that what company the money is going to if i do online transfer ! Hence i had a record of payment to a CERTAIN COMPANY (Insurance Choice) for impounded car insurance and its all safe. So please advise in light of above mentioned discussion/inquiries that is it safe to deal with this company and do a payment transfer directly into their account. Chapter 23

Friend Time

“What do you want, pizza, sushi, chinese, or mexican?”

“First three all sound good. Or maybe you order some sushi, I’ll order some Chinese, and we share the meal and just eat any and everything.”

“Sushi and Chinese sound good to me.”

She grins and calls her favorite place for Chinese and started to get all the things she knew she liked. While she did that N order from a sushi restaurant just a block away. She grins. After a few minutes both of them were done ordering. She stretches out. While they waited for their food N fed the dogs. She watched. It was very nice. The puppies scurried over to eat. She grins. Half an hour later their own food arrived and N paid for it. She paid him back.

"Oh there is no need to, it didn't cost a lot," he said handing her back the money.

She smiles a little. “You’re nice.”

He chuckled a little. She sat to eat with him. The puppies soon got interested in their food rather than their own. She laughs.

“Are they always like this?”

“Pretty much.”

She snorts.

“They’re just curious.”

“That’s cute.”

He nods a little, it was at that. She continued to eat. N ate too but made sure the puppies never got any. She smiled. When he was done N put the leftovers away and cleaned up.

“You’re amazing.”

“Well I’m not like some bachelors that is true.”

She snorts.

“What?”

“You don’t have to act like anything. You are amazing and you won’t be a bachelor for long I’m sure.”

“I should hope not, my parents keep asking for grandkids.”

She laughs. He smiles a bit. N wasn’t rushing to get married though. It would happen when he found the right person. She pets the puppies more. They nuzzled her hand and licked it, it smelled like the strange food. She sighs.

“I should probably go.”

“Alright, call me if you need anything.”

“Promise.”

He smiles at her. She pet Thor. Thor didn’t want to leave but after saying goodbye to his mate and his puppies he left with her. She sighs in relief.

“Thank God.”

“Sorry,” Mumbled Thor.

“It worked okay.”

He nods a little and rubbed against her. She smiles at him. Thor was happy they’d made the visit.

“Another time.”

He nods a little. She drove back. Thor was quiet in his seat. She picked him up and set him in Victoria’s bed when they got back. Thor curled up in the bed. She curled up to him. He gave her a little lick. She smiles at that. Thor then fell asleep. She fell asleep. She was awoken by the sound of breaking glass. She jumped up in horror. A rock had been thrown through her window and had almost hit her. She stared at it, shivering and trying to not cry. Thor had woken up and growled at the window. But she couldn’t help it and did start crying. Thor rubbed against her. She hugs him. She calls Victoria. Victoria groaned but answered her phone.

“Yeah?” she mumbled.

“How are you not terrified?” she cried.

“Hu? Of what, what are you talking about?”

“I nearly got attacked with a giant rock.”

“Oh.”

“How can you live here with him defacing the place and sneaking in and all this stuff and not be terrified?”

“Cuz it’s U-Kwon, he’s not actually gonna hurt me. He’d get into big trouble.”

“How would U-Kwon get in trouble?”

“Dad has made it a rule, we are not allowed to hurt each other. If we do then we get majorly punished.”

“I see...”

“So yeah, he wouldn’t hurt ya.”

“Yeah he’ll just scare me to death.”

“You really have no balls do ya?”

She sighs a little. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine, just thought you would’ve since you’re supposed to be the heir.”

“I...” she sighs. “It’s complicated.”

“I know.”

“Thanks.”

“So don’t let U-Kwon scare you. Particularly when you’re around him. It’ll give you away.”

“Okay.”

“He just gets off on it if you’re actually scared.”

“Gross.”

“Not sexually, I just meant he enjoys making people scared.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

“Alright. I get it.”

“Good.”

“I promise to try.”

“I know ya will.”

“I’m sorry for waking you.”

“It’s okay.”

“Bye.”

“Night.”

She tried to go back to sleep. Thor nudged her a little and curled up to her. She hugs him tightly. Thor snuggled up happy. She sighs in relief. Thor fell asleep after she did. She eventually fell asleep. The following morning was wet cold and raining. She woke up freezing due to the window. Victoria was in her kitchen cooking and she had brought a new piece of glass with her. She’d put it in once Krystal was out of the room. This had happened a lot, so often that she could replace the window herself. Krystal blinks.

“Did you not go to sleep?”

“I did, I just had to get up early for something.”

“Oh of course.”

“So, have you gone back to the house yet?”

“Which house?”

“Mine, as in the one my family lives at.”

“No. Yesterday I spent it with Thor and N.”

“Oh, when are you going back?”

“I don’t really want to.”

Victoria sighed inwardly and nodded.

“You can’t tell me you wanna go back to my palace.”

“It would depend on the situation.”

She sighs a little.

“You aren’t at all curious as to what goes on in my family or what happened to the girl?”

“I actually want nothing to do with any of them. For that reason alone.”

Victoria nods a little. Well there was nothing she could do about it.

“And trying to convince anyone that for the girl or anyone else kidnapped in that way that any sort of horrible that could and probably have happened before the person ‘gives in to the forced way of life for them now’ is totally okay and actually is the best thing for this person is just trying to make an excuse to yourself and others as to why it’s okay to do that.”

“Did I say that it was okay or that I agreed with it!?” Victoria snapped a little.

She sighs.

“Sorry,” she mumbled. “I should go anyways.”

Krystal went over and hugs Victoria.

“I have to go, call if you need something,” She said and left after only giving Thor a small pat.

Krystal sighs. Thor whined a little. He knew Victoria was upset.

“I’m sorry buddy.”

“You know she doesn’t like it anymore than you do.”

“Yeah...”

Thor nods a little. She scratches Thor. He rubbed against her hand.

“I’m sorry buddy,” she said again.

“It’s okay.”

"Really?"

“She’s just mad at herself.”

“Wae? She didn’t make it up.”

“Because she put you in that position.”

Krystal looks down. “No.”

“What do you mean no?”

“She didn’t put me in it. Someone else switched us.”

“Technically she did, she could’ve said no to participate in it once she was no longer the heir.”

She sighs a little. Thor smiles a little and rubbed against her. She pet him more.

“You’ve got three days ya know.”

“Till what?”

“Till you have no say in what happens to that girl.”

“I thought I didn’t have any say anyway.”

“What gave you that idea?”

“Because of how her family is.”

“You nabbed her, along with one of her brothers. Both of you have a voice for three days as to what happens. After that the clan leader chooses what happens.”

She bit her lips and nods. Thor settled down then, settling down next to the fireplace.

“Do we go?”

“It’s up to you.”

She groans. This sucked. Thor just let her think, he didn’t want to bother her.

“This makes it awful.”

“If it helps Victoria doesn’t always do the same thing. It depends on the person and what they’ve done.”

“But what has this child done?”

“From what I’ve heard, she’s depressed at what it is to be a vamp and almost exposed herself to humans.”

“She’s not in his clan, that’s not his place to decide it’s not okay. And furthermore, everyone wants to expose themselves at some point.”

“Yes well, Victoria’s clan also isn’t on good terms with that clan so….”

“And that’s what I’m saying.”

“So he likes to show his power over clans he doesn’t like.”

“He’s an ass.”

Thor shrugged a little. She groans.

“Just forget about it, you don’t have to go back.”

“Fine. I’ll be a bitch but whatever. It’s not like he’s not been an ass before.”

Thor tried not to laugh.

“Yes that is true.”

She gave a small smile.

“What do you want to eat?”

“Steak!”

“Alright. Steak it is,” she responds and began to make steak for Thor. She still couldn’t cope with this whole situation.

He grinned. She finished after awhile and set it down for him. Thor dug into it happily.

“You a happy boy?”

"Very."

“I’m glad.”

Thor grinned. She got up to eat herself. Thor are his steak happily. She pet him. Thor rubbed against her happy.

“It’s nice you accept me.”

"You're nice so yeah, I would."

“Thanks Thor. I think I screwed up the only friendship I have right now in this position in Victoria.”

"With who?"

“With Victoria I mean.”

"Over the kidnapping thing?"

“Yes...”

“You didn’t lose her. It’s just one of those things where she wished she was in her own body.”

“Yeah...”

“Trust me.”

“Okay.”

He smiles a little.

“I trust you.”

“Good.”

She sighs. Thor curled up next to her. She finished eating and curls up to him.

“You’re not going to work?”

She sighs, “Yeah I should.”

“See you at five then.”

She got Victoria’s stuff and left. The employees at the the company smiled and waved to her as she walked in. She waved back. When she got to her desk there was already loads of messages and emails. She began to work, finding this easy. There was a lot going on that day, actually that work. But to her it wasn’t enough. She missed being herself. Although today she did have a lot of errands to run. She sighs and got to work. Leo did show up that afternoon, Victoria had sent him to pick up the outfits for the rest of the tour. Krystal beams at him.

“Who’s this?” One of her coworker asked as she eyed the VERY handsome, VERY sexy Leo.

“My friend.”

“No, really!”

“My friend Leo.”

“You two aren’t dating?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Um well maybe someday who knows?” she mumbled knowing to her it wasn’t true but she didn’t know about Victoria.

Her coworker nods. She looks back at Leo. He gave her a smile. She just hoped they wouldn’t use her body.... She winces. She wanted to save herself for her husband.

“Something wrong?”

“No. Just thought of something.”

Leo nods a little.

“Be careful.”

“I am.”

“Okay.”

Leo smiles at her.

“Yep, good luck.”

“I hope so.”

He smiles and then left after getting the outfits. She could actually see Leo and Victoria. Victoria was an hour into a meeting. She didn’t really enjoy meetings but it was part of the job. Leo came in holding up the outfits. She nods with a little smile. He sat down. The meeting went on for another hour before it was done and she stretched when it was done.

“Great job.”

“Thanks.”

He kisses her hand. Victoria smiles a little. He helped her back to Krystal’s office.

“How was the company?”

“Krystal was fine.”

She nods a little.

“You’re both doing well.”

Victoria gave a half smile.

“I just wish we knew how to change you two back.”

“Me too.”

He went to sit in his corner.

“I don’t suppose you have any ideas?”

“On what?”

“How to turn us back.”

“Sadly no.”

She nods a little.

“If I did, I’d be working on it.”

Victoria nods.

“I’d like it for you two to be normal again.”

“I think both of us would.”

“It’s odd staring at my best friend’s body and knowing it’s not her soul in there, and the person who is... I like differently,” he stopped himself from saying am attracted to.

She smiled a little.

“It is really weird being in her body.”

“Cuz it’s not you.”

She nods. He smiles a little. Victoria stretched, things were going along well now and knew that soon there would be enough people to help do Krystal’s job. Seriously, Krystal did the work of at least six people. Leo chuckles.

“Seriously, why didn’t you tell her to not take on so much?”

“Because she was happy.”

“And had no time to sleep.”

“True.”

“I’m surprised she never got sick.”

“She ate properly.”

She nods a little. Leo pat her. Victoria gave him a little smile. Whenever she did return to herself things wouldn’t be the same.

“Krystal’s not changing your workload.”

“I know.”

“But now you’ll have gotten used to lots of work.”

“True…”

Leo chuckles.

“Well it is what it is.”

"Quite true."

She gave a half smile. He kisses her hand again. Victoria tried not to blush. He went back to just his corner to watch over her. She returned to work trying to just focus on that. He watched her though. Victoria just worked away, still a lot to do for the day. He sat back, waiting for her to finish. After several long hours Victoria finally was done and she turned off the computer.

"Shall we go?"

Victoria nodded and grabbed her bag. Leo followed her out, being the gentleman that he was. She headed out and down the stairs to the lobby before she headed to the car. He let her in and then drove to a restaurant. Victoria settled in and ordered what she usually got. He nods and ordered the special of the day. The waiter nodded and then left to put their order in. He watched her.

“Yes?” Victoria asked noticing he was kind of staring at her.

"You're just nice to look at."

“It’s Krystal’s face, you’ve seen it for years.”

"And it's you inside."

“Yeah…”

"You fascinate me."

“Oh……”

He smiles at her. Victoria gave a little smile. He smiled back and winks at her. She hid a blush behind her wine as she took a sip. He drank his soda.

“So….you don’t have siblings?”

“I do. I just don’t see ‘em.”

“Why not?”

“Same reason I don’t see the rest of my family, I’m cast out of it and therefore not allowed to.”

“Oh……”

“Well I could but they would probably attack me.”

“That’s sad.”

“It’s how it is.”

She nods a little, Victoria knew that all too well.

“I don’t hate it but I do wish I knew the younger ones.”

“Well some things just don’t happen.”

“Yeah.”

She gave a half smile. He smiles back. Just then the food arrived and Victoria dug into hers. Leo ate slowly. The food was amazing, Victoria had gotten a strawberry, walnut and spinach salad as her appetizer and then her entry was crab tortellini and she’d gotten a tiramisu as her dessert. Leo grins as he watched her. Victoria could’ve eaten at least three portions of all of the dishes but that would just look strange. Leo pats her head. She gave him a little smile, she felt bad for him but at the same time she knew what it was like. He finished his food and ordered double and triple of everything she’d ordered to go before paying. The seconds came about ten minutes later. He smiles and let her hold the food on the way back, he was giving it to her of course. She took it and headed back to the car. He drove them back to the dorm. When they arrived Victoria got out and left the food in the car.

“It’s yours.”

“Oh…...thanks.”

“Of course.”

“See you tomorrow.”

“Alright darling.”

She smiles a little and headed inside. She put the food in the fridge and then crawled into bed very tired. Leo finally slept that night. That night was very quiet not a sound from anywhere. During the night the yin yang switched sides and the two of their souls switched back. Victoria shifted a little in her sleep and unknowingly curled up to Thor. Krystal snuggles up reaching for Thor and blinks in confusion at not finding him but sighs and went back to sleep. When Victoria’s alarm went off and she noticed the time she swore she was late, why hadn’t Leo woken her up. It wasn’t until she was standing in front of the mirror that she realized she was back in her own body! Thor wagged his tail. Victoria squealed and gave him a big hug, she missed him so much. He blinks and licks her in confusion.

“It’s me Thor, I’m back.”

“You are?”

“Yes, I am!”

“How?”

"I don't know."

He licks her, happy she was back. Victoria smiles and pet him, she was happy to be in her own body too.

"Food!"

Victoria laughed, "Okay, okay," She said as she pet him and then went to go get his food.

He grins. Victoria got Thor his food and then went to her fridge and got some blood out. She drank a unit and added another to her pancakes, she missed the taste of blood so badly. Thor nods.

“It is you.”

She chuckled.

“Yes it is.”

“Cuz Krystal doesn’t like the blood.”

“Yep, I know.”

“So is this over?”

“I think so….”

“Yay!”

She laughed and pet him. He rubs against her. Victoria smiled and pet him. She was very happy to be in her own body. He barks. She laughed and gave him a kiss. He licks her. She pet him and made sure he had enough food and water before she left for the day. When she got to the office it just felt different. She’d stopped at her coffee shop to get her coffee and then settled in, trying to figure out what was different. Krystal's organization was what was different. Victoria finally noticed and quickly returned things to how she liked them, that way she could find everything.

"Krystal or Victoria?" her best friend asked as she leaned over the desk.

“Hu? How did you know?”

"You're messing with the organization, again."

“Oh...Victoria. Don’t ask me how.”

Eunji shook her head in amazement.

“Yeah….I just woke up and was back to myself.”

“So you’re completely back to normal?”

“I think so.”

“Well that’s always good.”

“Yep.”

Eunji grins. “So dancing?”

“Uh...sure.”

“Great. We’ll go to the bar later.”

“Still trying to get me to hook up?” she teased a little.

“Of course.”

“Did you forget that I’m engaged?”

“You don’t like him.”

“Huh?”

“You don’t. Well maybe you don’t mind him, but if you actually like him, as if.”

“I’ve never met him.”

“Fine...”

“Krystal was the one who met him.”

“Fine. But you know, if you choose him, it’s just cuz you are pleasing your family.”

“I know.”

“That’s not love.”

“Neither is kicking me out of the clan.”

“Which your dad would do in a heartbeat.”

“If I don’t marry the guy yeah.”

She sighs.

“Why do you even want to stay there?”

“It’s the only way I’d get to see my Mom, once I leave I can’t see her ever again.”

Eunji sighs.

“Would you really leave?”

“I don’t have that problem.”

“Lucky you.”

“Indeed.”

“I just…” she sighed. “I don’t know.”

“Why?”

“Do you even know exactly what would happen if I left?”

“No.”

“I would have absolutely nothing, no place to live, no money, no belongings. Just Thor and whatever I’m wearing the day I leave, and then I’d get killed in a month or two.

“You won’t get killed.”

“A lone vamp doesn’t last long on their own.”

“You have all of us.”

She gave a half smile.

“How are we not important to you?”

“I never said you weren’t.”

“You act like it. And like we couldn’t protect you.”

She sighed.

“That’s not what I mean.”

“Then what do you mean?”

“You are all important to me but I don’t want to put you in that position.”

“But you’re important to us so we will for you.”

She nods a little. Eunji smiles. Victoria gave her a little smile as she finished rearranging everything.

“Cya later.”

“Yep.”

Eunji grins brightly. Victoria chuckled a little. Eunji skips off. Victoria got to work, happy to be doing the work she loved so much. But she couldn’t help but think about leaving the clan. Krystal came at lunch and hugs her.

"I can't believe it."

"Me neither!"

"But it might not be over."

"Yeah......"

"Cuz the tattoo's still there."

"Maybe it will just go away."

"I woulda thought it would the moment we switched back..."

"I don't know."

"I hope it's over."

“Me too.”

"I missed being me."

“Dido.”

She hugs Victoria tightly. Victoria smiles and hugged her back.

“So meet up at N’s this afternoon to pick up the puppies?”

She squeals. “Yes!”

Victoria laughs a little.

“I can’t wait for my own.”

“I can tell.”

Krystal beams.

“So, like the changes I made?”

“It’s a change but... not bad.”

“Good.”

“I just feel too bored at times though.”

“Yeah well….I suppose you could do more with the band then.”

“True.”

“Besides isn’t that what you originally wanted?”

“Yeah... true.”

“So now you can.”

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

She smiles a little and then Leo kisses Victoria’s hand as they left. Victoria gave him a little smile. He went with Krystal. But halfway through the afternoon, the yin yang signs returned to how they’d been and their souls switched. Victoria blinked and looked around before she slammed her head against the desk utterly annoyed and pissed off. Leo looks at her and raises an eyebrow.

“Something wrong.... Victoria?”

“Yes it’s me!” she sighed. “Seriously can’t I at least have a day in my own body!”

“Guess not.”

“Arg, this is so frustrating.”

“Sorry.”

“Not your fault.”

“True.”

She sighed but looked to see what Krystal had been in the middle of. She had been in the middle of lyrics. Victoria groaned and put that away. She didn’t write lyrics. Leo chuckles. Victoria got something else out and worked on that. Krystal groans. On Victoria’s screen was a calender that she was sorting out with another one she had sitting on her desk. Krystal began to look between the two. There was still a big differences between them. Krystal tried to figure out what that difference was. Most of it was various meetings and dinner plans. Krystal nods and began to figure out how to make a calendar that had both for Victoria. The computer program was a little tricky but after some time she figured it out. She smiles and got to work. She was about halfway done when something popped up in the right hand corner of her screen. She blinks and looks over to it. It was a series of traffic photos. Krystal clicks on them in confusion. They were photos of her brother Daehyun, the day he’d been kidnapped. It was him alone at first and then photos of him being kidnapped. Krystal stares in confusion. Why was Victoria getting this stuff and from where? There was just an email address attached to the photos. She looks at the email.

“Finally found what you were looking for, hope this helps. Good luck. ~Redeye.”

“Redeye?” she asks herself before sending a text to Victoria in confusion.

“He’s a hacker,” she sent back, “And a friend, he can get just anything I need from the internet.”

“Why were you looking for Daehyun?”

“Told ya I would figure out who took him.”

“Oh.... Thanks.”

“Welcome.”

“It still doesn’t help me really figure it out. I do see him being kidnapped...”

“There should be a name coming soon. If he hasn’t found it yet.”

“Thanks.”

“Of course.”

“I love you.”

Victoria laughed a little.

“No this is the nicest thing ever.”

“I told ya I would do it.”

She wipes her eyes. “I just love you.”

Victoria laughed a little.

“You are even amazing to do this.”

She shrugged a little.

“It’s not hard.”

“I still have to finish your place.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I do.”

“Seriously, stop worrying about it.”

“I can’t.”

Victoria sighed but didn’t say anything.

“I want you to be comfortable.”

“I am.”

“But this is a place all to your own.”

“I know…”

“I’ll work with L to make it everything you want.”

“Don’t worry about it, seriously. Yes I like the house but you don’t need to be working on it.”

“Why? Why are you forsaking it?”

“I’m not.”

“You seem like it.”

“I’ll work on it later.”

“So what do I get to do for you?”

“Nothing. You don’t have to do anything.”

“That’s weird.”

"Why is it weird?"

"You do all this stuff for me but I'm not allowed to do anything in return?"

"I'm not doing a lot and I didn't say you couldn't do anything."

"You did what you said you'd do and more but you keep telling me not to."

"Fine....." she mumbled

"It'll be amazing for you."

"Thanks...."

"You're welcome."

"Just.....leave me something to do."

"Oh your place?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Since you insist."

"Thanks."

She grins.

"Good luck with work."

"You too."

"Thanks."

"Of course."

"Talk to ya later."

“Cya.”

"Yep," she said and ended the call.

Leo looks at her.

“What?”

"You're sexy."

"You do realize that you're actually calling Krystal sexy."

"No. You are. I really wanted to kiss you earlier today. As yourself."

"Oh..."

He winks at her. Victoria hid behind the computer to hide her blush. He went back to his book. But he was happy to have been able to tell her. Leo worked on his own work. Finally she was done for the day and headed to the dorm. Leo didn't drive them there, but to N's. Victoria had almost forgotten that but smiled a little when she saw Krystal. Krystal beams back and ran to hug her again. Victoria laughed and hugged her.

"Puppies!"

Victoria laughed. "Yes, puppies."

Krystal beams.

"Come on, I'm sure N is waiting for us."

She skips to the door. Victoria followed her and knocked. The puppies ran to it. N chuckled and pushed them out of the way as he carefully opened the door so they wouldn’t escape. Their tails wagged all over and they jumped on the girls and Leo. N smiles at the girls and let them in, hurriedly closing the door behind them. Leo made sure all were inside. Then Krystal began playing with the puppies.

“Here to choose and pick up your puppy?”

“Yes! I mean yes.”

N laughed.

“Well none of them have been taken yet so you both have first pick.”

Krystal grins. She looks for her girl knowing she’d need Victoria to get it but then suddenly, she was herself again. Victoria blinked and then looked back at Krystal. Seriously this was annoying. Krystal gave a half smile and went to her girl. The puppy ran around her and rubbed against her. She picks it up and grins. The puppy wiggled around in her arms and licked her face. She giggles and pet her happily. The puppy rubbed against her. She pet it happily. The little puppy barked and rubbed against her. She giggles. The puppy wagged it's tail happily. She kisses her more, so happy to have her.

“What are you gonna name your’s?” N asked.

She thought about it and grins. "Soul Pearl."

“That’s a unique name.”

"Yeah but I'm going through a unique time right now."

“Aw...guess that works.”

She nods and ran her hand over the puppy again. Soul Pearl smiles and rubbed against her happily. Krystal pet her more. Soul Pearl turned over on her back, wanting a tummy rub. Krystal gave her a big one and scratched her ears. Soul Pearl wagged her tail happily.

“She’s soooo cute!”

“Yep, she is at that.”

“My girl.”

The puppy barked and rolled over. She pet her more. Soul Pearl nipped at her hand. She laughs. Victoria’s puppy was the very opposite of Krystal’s, not as hyper or energetic. He was the calm one of the litter.

“Thor will love that.”

“Yep, Thor is already hyper enough.”

Krystal laughs but nods.

“Make sure you lock things up you don’t want to get damaged.”

“Got it.”

“Yeah, they’re curious and like to see what they can play with,” N said.

“They’re cute.”

He chuckles a little.

“Yes that is very true.”

“I love them.”

“Me too.”

She smiles at him.

“Krystal since you don’t already have a dog I left a starter puppy kit by the front door for you. Of course you’ll need to get more stuff but that should be okay for a couple days.”

She beams and hugs him. “You’re the best.”

He laughed.

“You’re welcome.”

“Soul Pearl, wanna go home?”

Soul Pearl barked and wagged her tail. She smiles and walked them to the front door. Soul Pearl ran around excited. She picks Soul Pearl up and Leo had the stuff and left with them. Soul Pearl looked around as they left the house eager to look at everything. Krystal kept a tight hold on her. Soul Pearl tried to crawl up onto her shoulder. She set the dog there when they were safely in the car. Soul Pearl crawled around exploring the car. She grins at that. After a few moments Soul Pearl spotted the puppy bag L had created. Krystal picks up the bag and Soul Pearl to find out what was in it. There was puppy food, a few toys, house pads and a small bed although the bed looked like Soul Pearl would grow out of it in a month or so. She smiles and grins. Soul Pearl found the ball and started rolling it around.

“I’ll roll it with you when we get home.”

Soul Pearl hit the ball with her nose and it bounced and hit the seat. She laughs at that and grins. Soul Pearl blinked and tried to roll the ball again but it bounced yet again. Krystal picked the ball up and kisses Soul Pearl as Leo parked the car. She got out and brought Soul Pearl inside, rolling the ball on the floor after setting Soul Pearl down. Soul Pearl instantly started running around the the place, chasing the ball.

“Whoa, what is that?” Luna exclaimed as she nearly tripped over Soul Pearl.

“Her name is Soul Pearl and she’s my... well our new puppy.”

“Where did ya get it?”

“From Victoria’s friend, N.”

“Aw…”

She smiles.

“Please tell me you have some sort of kennel for when we’re all gone.”

“I’ll get it. I don’t have it now. And I want it to be the best.”

“Okay good.”

She went over and pet Soul Pearl. Soul Pearl barked and rubbed against her. She sat to play with her. Soul Pearl crawled around her. She smiles and turns on the tv. Soul Pearl didn’t stay still though she eventually crawled all and ran around again exploring, she had a ton of energy. Krystal smiles, getting up to show her everything and everyone. Soul Pearl was excited, it was all so new and interesting. Amber grins and switched forms to play with Soul Pearl. Soul Pearl looked at the new animal in the room, now curious. Amber grins and rubs against her. Soul Pearl jumped and tried to climb onto her. Amber gave a wolf laugh but lay down so she could. Soul Pearl jumped up onto her back and crawled around. Amber stood up and walked around with her that way. Soul Pearl held on and wagged her tail, this was fun. Amber grins and continues to play with the dog. Eventually Soul Pearl fell asleep on Amber’s back. Amber laughs, returned to human and grabbed the puppy bringing her in front of her. Soul Pearl curled up in her arms. She smiles at that.

“She’s so cute.”

“That she is,” Luna added, “I just hope she doesn’t destroy any of our things.”

“I’ll do my best to prevent that,’ Krystal replies.

“I’m sure you will.”

“I so wanted a pet.”

“We know. And now you have the time.”

Krystal held the puppy and went to her room to sleep with it. Soul Pearl curled up sleeping happily. She smiles, happy. Victoria was just getting ready to go out with Eunji when she got a call from L.

“Hey, what’s up.”

“You need to get to your cabin, I came to drop stuff off and it’s ablaze, someone set it on fire!” He yelled. It was clear he was on an earpiece as he was trying to put out the fire and she could hear something crashing.

“WHAT!? I’ll be right there.”

Victoria had spent years working on the house, she wasn’t about to let it burn down. L kept trying to put the fire out. Krystal arrived a few minutes later and quickly tried to help but no matter how much water or dirt they threw on the fire it didn’t help, the flames just grew higher and hotter. He frowns.

“What the hell was used?”

“Gasoline,” She said with a sigh. She could smell it.

L sighs. “Great. Krystal and I and you... worked so hard. How the hell did that fucker find it?”

“Who knows.”

He groans and kicks a tree.

“Forget about it, thanks for trying to put it out.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Can’t be helped now. I’ll clean it up in the morning,when it’s all cool.”

“I’ll help.”

She gave a small smile.

“Thanks.”

“I’m really sorry.”

“I know.”

“I’ll help you remake it too.”

“I don’t have the money to remake it. Not really. I spent most of my savings making it.”

“Asshole.”

“He likes to make a point.”

“I guess so.”

“Go home L, I’ll see you later.”

He looks down and sighs before leaving. He hated when she did this. Victoria didn't leave though, she was too in shock to leave. She just stood their in front of her burned down house staring at it. L hated leaving but he got that she wanted no one's help, that she hated even the thought. Little did he know that he was wrong. Victoria just wanted to be alone. This had hurt more than anything U-kwon had ever done and she was embarrassed to tell him that she had no more money. Krystal was still looking for things for Victoria's place while lying in bed with the puppy. Her puppy though was now awake again and crawling around her. She grins. She'd closed the door, putting the bed and such on the floor so her girl could explore but not leave the room. Soul Pearl started to explore the room. She grins at that. Soul Pearl found the dirty clothes and started rolling around in them. Krystal saw and laughed. She sent the video to Victoria, sending a text asking afterwards what she wanted. Victoria didn't see it though. Krystal frowns after a bit and calls Victoria. It wasn't until the sixth ring that Victoria picked up.

"What?"

"Okay now I'm really worried about you. Where are you?"

"In the woods."

"I'll be right there."

"Go back to sleep Krystal."

"No way!"

"Fine....." she mumbled.

"Victoria, you're trying to push me away but I've been you. I know what the hell is going on when you act like this and it isn't good. You push everyone away so you can wallow in self pity."

"I don't wallow, I would just rather not have people see me when I'm weak."

"And I am you part of the time so you have to deal."

"Fine......."

Krystal got up, and ran to where Victoria was. She gasps.

"Asshole!!!"

"It's U-kwon for ya."

Krystal hugs her. "He's an ass. But we'll make it bigger and better and in a different spot."

"I can't. I don't have the money."

"And I do. Victoria, me spending money isn't bad."

"You shouldn't be spending your money on my house."

"I can spend my money how I want to."

Victoria sighed but nods. That was true.

"And I'm spending it on you because I want to and no I don't expect to you pay me back. Do I make myself clear?"

“Yes,” she mumbles.

Krystal smiles a little and leans into Victoria.

“I don’t know how he found this place.”

“Neither do I.”

She nods a little.

“It sucks.”

“It’ll be good though.”

Victoria gave a half smile.

“We’ll make it all over, exactly how you want it.”

Victoria nods a little, it had almost been done. Another month or so and it would’ve been done.

“I know. This is awful.”

She smiles a little.

“But we’ll get it. I promise.”

“I know…”

She smirks. “Well now we can make it even better.”

“I don’t want to spend a lot of your money. I’ll just go with my original design.”

“Alright. But somewhere else.”

Victoria nods, otherwise U-Kwon would burn it down again. Krystal squeezes her hand.

“Please don’t say anything to anyone about this.”

“Alright.”

“Thanks.”

“As long as you trust me.”

“Yeah. I do…”

“Sure?”

“I’ll email you my plans and all the stuff I have saved all over the years.”

She grins. “Sounds great.”

She gave a little smile.

“I should head back, see you later.”

“Looking forward to it.”

Victoria gave a small smile and left, heading back to her place. Krystal finally headed back. When Victoria got back she just crawled into bed and pulled her puppy close. He whined a little worried. She gave him a little kiss. He licks her. She gave him a little kiss and soon fell asleep. She had been seriously considering leaving the clan and staying in the house but now...now she had nowhere to go. Krystal didn’t want to wait so she started looking for patches of ground to buy. There was a lot of good spots, some very far from the city and others close to the ocean or to a lake. She smiles and got one right on a lake with woods right beside and relatively close to the city. Victoria would’ve choked if she’d seen the price of the land though. It was at least twice if not three times as much as what she’d paid for the other piece of land. Krystal didn’t hesitate, just bought it. She’d only take Victoria there when it was done. Which would be as soon as she got the plans. Victoria didn’t send the plans until the following morning along with a list of suppliers she’d used. Krystal didn’t do that though. She contacted her favorite contractor and sent him the plans and the coordinates of the plot of land. He contacted her back a few hours later saying the amount of money and Krystal didn’t even hesitate, she transferred the money to him and he sent her a confirmation that they’d begin work right away. A week later, the girls had been randomly switching still, but as themselves they both had dates with their fiances. Victoria, like Krystal, hadn’t found her fiance that interesting but….well she couldn’t say no at this point. Krystal sent her a text another week later.

“I’m coming to pick you up.”

“Okay….you’re gonna have to wait.”

Hello and Greetings.

Nothing has changed. Everything has changed. It is the best of times, it is the worst of times. There is a rich white guy running the country below us, there is a rich guy running the country we live in. The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling to clinch a playoff spot, while the Blue Jays are playing in the Grapefruit League, getting ready for their season down in Florida. Okay, so maybe some things have changed.

We are sitting on anywhere from 25-50 songs, some of them already recorded except for vocals, as with Better Days Are A Toenail Away and Heck ‘Em All. There are others that haven’t been recorded or even fleshed out. I wrote a new song last night that sounds like a mix between “Guy I Know” and Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter.” I demoed it so I wouldn’t forget it.

What Are We Doing?

Nothing. Nothing at all. I haven’t seen James since last May and I haven’t seen Ryan since November, when he dropped off my mixer downtown Brampton while I was visiting a friend.

I have no idea how to fix this situation at the moment. I work most Fridays and Saturdays. I have at least two Sundays off a week, but I can’t always get to Brampton and the guys don’t always want to come down here to jam at the Rehearsal Factory.

I have been enrolled in a drug rehabilitation program for the past long while, a program that involves group meetings and individual counselling with an addictions counsellor. The type of treatment involved would likely cost its participants thousands of dollars per year, given the expertise and intensity of the doctors involved, but for me and for others, it costs considerably less than that, about a hundred dollars a month. That’s the financial cost. The social cost is a bit heavier: I have to submit a urine test every single day.

What this means is I have to be at Bloor and Lansdowne once a day, every day, to submit a sample or I will be kicked out of the program. There are no second chances, there are no doctor’s notes for illness. You simply cannot miss a single day. Period. The fact that I have been doing this for months now should demonstrate my devotion to the program and how seriously I’m taking it, but just in case it doesn’t, I’ll say it here: I am taking this program very very seriously. It has given me back my life. On weekdays this requirement isn’t too onerous, seeing as the clinic is open from 8am to 5pm. Since I work in the service industry and my work day usually begins between 2 and 4 pm, it’s not too difficult for me to get up a half hour earlier than I normally would and head over to pee in a cup. It’s a small price to pay for a program that has helped me so much. On weekends, though, it’s a lot harder, because the window of time I have to be at the clinic is seriously shortened. On Saturdays I have a four hour window, from 8am-noon. Not bad. On Sundays, I have a 90-minute window. If I am not there between 10am and 11:30am, I lose my spot in the program. Which I don’t want to do given that this program has essentially given me my fucking life back. I cannot understate the extent to which this program has helped me. It literally saves peoples lives.

But if I were to go to Brampton on a Saturday evening to play music, and then stay over there, I would be completely dependent on transit to get me back to Toronto before the clinic closes at 11:30am. This would likely entail getting up at 8am in Brampton, since transit takes so goddamnn long and I’d be taking three different types: Brampton Transit, GO Transit, and TTC. Things can get a little shifty there.

Best case scenario would be to go to Brampton on a Sunday morning after hitting the clinic, since I could crash there and then take my time getting back to Toronto the next day, since the clinic doesn’t close on Mondays until 5pm. But both James and Ryan work on Mondays, and Ryan has family obligations, and James usually doesn’t like to do stuff on Sunday afternoons cuz he has to get up so early the next day, so I’m not sure we’d be able to get too much done on a Sunday afternoon, especially since the earliest I could be in Brampton is around 12:30 or 1pm, depending on when the GO bus leaves Union station.

So it would make the most logistical sense for me to go to Brampton on a Sunday when both Ryan and James have a Monday off, like on May 24 weekend, unless Ryan’s going camping that weekend, which he usually does, so…

I dunno. Hopefully I can get a Saturday off soon and we can jam at Bathurst and Richmond for a few hours and work on some new material. We’ll worry about recording whenever the hell I can get to Brampton, which depends on my work schedule.

What Am I Doing?

I’ve been working a shitload of hours lately as a server/bartender for an events company, meaning I work a lot of weddings and corporate gatherings. With wedding season just around the corner and my home venue opening the outdoor terrace midway through April, I’ll be working even more soon; six days a week from mid-April to mid-December, without a break. Finding a way to shoehorn some recording into my schedule during that time will be a challenge, but I’ll try my best. I will.

A few days before last Christmas I joined my friends Mark Hornich and Michael Schooley in Hamilton to play some music. I’d been hanging out with Mark every other week or so last summer, writing songs on acoustic guitars, for a project that we’ve been trying to put together since at least 2011.

Since that first jam in Hamilton, me, Mark and Michael have met up every other week, sometimes once a month but usually more often, at various spaces across the city, sometimes Paul’s Boutique, sometimes the Richmond-Bathurst rehearsal spaces, to play our songs, of which we now have six, complete with vocal melodies and lyrics and everything.

We’ve challenged ourselves to be show-ready by May, and we’ve hit our target early. As far as I’m concerned we could play a show next weekend without making fools of ourselves, though another two jams wouldn’t hurt either. Mark played in one of my favourite local bands of all-time, Crop Failure, and Michael played in an excellent instrumental band from Kitchener-Waterloo called New Wings, that my old band Sleep for the Nightlife played with once in Waterloo in a café next door to a movie theatre downtown. I actually taped some of that set and uploaded it to YouTube a few years ago, and I’ve played a lot of shows with Crop Failure with old bands like GIANTS and Sleep for the Nightlife, and The Big City Nights Band have played with C.F. a couple times too, so there’s a lot of overlap here in terms of the scene and shows played together. We all come from the same scene, and we’re all old enough to know that we don’t need to try to conquer the world or “make it big” or anything like that. We’ll be content with playing a few decent shows here and there, and making a good EP or LP that might catch a few people’s ears. That’s about the extent of our ambitions right now. The tentative band name for this project right now is Traffic Yeller, though none of us are sure if the name is permanent. While is does connote a certain energy and anger, none of us are totally sure if it describes us properly. So we’ll see. Either way, we’ll continue to make music together this year and will hopefully play a show sometime soon. If we get one booked, I’ll letcha all know.

In the meantime, I’m obviously going to try to finish some Big City Nights recordings this year and put out some records. As I’ve said before, we have enough material to release at least two albums, maybe even three or four. No, we don’t see each other as much as we used to, and we don’t play anywhere near as many shows as we used to, but we’ll try our best to match the output we somehow tallied in both 2010 and 2012, years that saw us release four full-length recordings, all of which I still stand behind, from records I did mostly myself like Gimme Gardens and Dancing Days, to albums we all contributed equally to like Yawns Beyond, Oscillation Drills, Popular Favourites, Might Minutes, and Under the Overpass.

I’d like to document the recording of our upcoming records, if possible, as it’s always fun to go back and watch videos like the making of Oscillation Drills or Yawns Beyond or West Bestern. So I’ll try to make sure someone has their camera phone running at all times whenever we get together next. And it’s also about time we update our default photo on the bandcamp, which was taken by Jessica Fisher in summer 2010. So I’ll try to organize a photo shoot asap, but it’s not at the forefront of my worries. The music comes first, naturally. So if a new photo should appear, rest assured that we’ve taken care of the audio aspect and have some new recordings on the way.

No shows booked at the moment but we’ll be trying to get something going soon, some shows with the Flying Museum Band to celebrate the tenth anniversaries of our respective first albums. Our tenth anniversary is actually around this time…as I recall the album coming out in either March or April 2007 and playing our goodbye show @ All Stars in Bramalea that May. So I’ll have to go back and get some exact dates. Born to Bar Band is a solid effort, even though it’s a little difficult for me to listen to now, since my vocals were so rough on that record. Our live staple, “Catch You,” for example, has been played at almost every show we’ve ever done, so that when I hear the version on B2BB I barely recognize it.

No shows, no new music. Overall, taking the last ten years into account, this is uncharacteristic of the Big City Nights Band. But I know all too well that, in the past few years, this has become the norm. Not a whole lot of shakin’ goin’ on. I’m working hard on my problems and have been staying on top of things in the past long while So it’s about time I focused some energy on this long-neglected band, my favourite band that I’ve ever played in. I’m tired of old memories, I want to make some new ones.

And when we do finally get around to making those new ones, you’ll be the first to know.
