Goodreads Choice Awards but the nominees are just the books I've personally shelved
I have a lot of thoughts about the options as they exist (mostly not that bad, except when it comes to the total elimination of children's literature, about which I am furious), but per usual I can't really articulate them in a coherent way SO I sorted my shelves by publication date, ignored the GCA requirement of a minimum 3.5 average rating, and am doing this instead.
[update: oops this did not turn out coherent either. but it got typed!]
Important Reminder: These are not all books I consider equal contenders for "best." I simply wanted to highlight every possible option I actually knew about and have read or am interested in reading.
YA
After the Sirens - Sharon Farrell
Begin Again - Emma Lord (forgot to add this one before)
The Brothers Hawthorne - Jennifer Lynn Barnes (actual nominee and I'm gonna vote for it even though it seems like it may be more of a filler book. The Davenports is the only other official nom to intrigue me, and its lower average rating + hideous cartoon cover isn't enough to flip me unread so sorry, we're going Basic Popularity Contest Pick)
Cleaning Up - Leanne Lieberman
Five Survive - Holly Jackson (definitely not a winner)
Gather - Kenneth M. Cadow (edit: National Book Award finalist?? like with the adult fiction??)
Good as Gold -- Candace Buford (definite contender for fave so far)
Holly Horror - Michelle Jabès Corpora
The Island - Natasha Preston (lol. lmao even. but ridiculous fun)
The Lake House - Sarah Beth Durst
A Long Stretch of Bad Days - Mindy McGinnis
The Renaissance of Gwen Hathaway - Ashley Schumacher (here on author loyalty only)
Three Rivers - Sarah Stusek (THAT'S RIGHT. HER.)
Summer Rental - Rektok Ross (why am I this aware of brand-new ya horror??) (because I love horror and it's usually better paced and spookier and less shock-gory than the adult brand? fair)
YA FANTASY / SCI FI
Dream to Me - Megan Paasch (I think it would go here, anyway. but maybe it's just regular YA)
The Eternal Ones - Namina Forna (I gotta remember this series exists)
FANTASY
Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries -- winner winner pick!! (no like officially)
Starling House - Alix E. Harrow (though this is a close second, and honestly, if they weren't both actual nominees I'd think The Unmaking of June Farrow has some potential intrigue)
ROMANCE
Hazel Fine Sings Along - Katie Wicks (no comment on its Wattpad origin. I didn't notice until just now. have not read it.)
Famous For A Living - Melissa Ferguson (popular enough for Once Upon a Book Club! but not for for an official nom, despite my hopes, in this fiercely competitive category. boooo)
Out On a Limb - Hannah Bonam-Young (damn I actually saw this one making rounds on BookTube, thought it might be here)
Something Wild & Wonderful - Anita Kelly (can't believe there's actually a queer romance I want to see show up and it doesn't)
(Bonus: legit nominees I am considering for validity include Happy Place; Yours Truly - I really need to figure out if Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez are in my wheelhouse or not - and Hello Stranger, though as much as I like Katherine Center this one does not call to me)
FICTION
This Bird Has Flown - Susanna Hoffs (might also have been under romance if picked for the actual GCA? feels more mainstream than that but idk. anyway HATERS 2 THE LEFT.)
^ also my pick for debut
The Lost Manuscript - Mollie Rushmeyer (dunno which category this would officially go in either. probably romance? maybe mystery? but it's got a lot more plot than the average romance)
HISTORICAL FICTION
The Echo of Old Books - Barbara Davis (holy crap this one's actually in the nominations?! Instant vote. Almost disappointing because there are some other candidates I would have felt fine voting for to block the worse ones, but this is the only one on my acute TBR. If I don't give at least 4 stars I will be shocked)
MYSTERY/THRILLER
Forgotten Trail - Claire Kells
The Hike - Lucy Clarke
The Only One Left - Riley Sager
Homecoming - Kate Morton (crisis alert! the latter two are both official nominees and I am equally interested in both/both have equally good track records with me) (probs. gonna vote Kate on the principle of female solidarity. even though this is really stretching the definition of "mystery")
HORROR
A Haunting on the Hill - Elizabeth Hand
(How To Sell a Haunted House is a hard maybe but also the only one I think I'd even consider trying from the official noms)
MEMOIR
Paris: The Memoir - Paris Hilton
The Woman in Me - Britney Spears
Grimoire Girl - Hilarie Burton Morgan
Tell Me Everything - Minka Kelly
If You Would Have Told Me - John Stamos
Goodbye to Clocks Ticking - Joseph Monninger (forgot I just stumbled upon this one recently! it's on my library list but not my GR account)
and one more except GCA put it in a different category hang on
Three of these - not Burton's, alas - are actually nominees. Britney is gonna win but not without a fight from me. Do I go with Paris, whose memoir impressed me even though I still don't care much for her as a person, or Minka, whose memoir I haven't read but whose reviews sound excellent and whom I like more?
HUMOR
Being Henry - Henry Winkler (there is absolutely no reason for this not to be nominated in memoir btw. I hope it wins Humor because nothing else appeals in that category and I have multiple vendettas (SAMANTHA IRBY), but it would be as misplaced a win as the Office Ladies book was last year. fully deserving of an award! actually the best of the given nominees! but also like an adult beating a bunch of children in a footrace.)
MIDDLE GRADE
(no longer a GCA category but it fudgin' should be)
Just Gus - McCall Hoyle
Falling Out of Time - Margaret Peterson Haddix (actually glad I don't have to choose between these two because like. dogs - but also boy MC - or author loyalty ft. sequel to my childhood fave??)
Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen - Geri Halliwell The Spice Girl (no. đ) (and yet it is still on my shelf)
I have no strong opinions for any categories I skipped.
#I am actually very familiar with a lot of options this year thanks to my new BookTube obsession but still haven't read that many#(and probably won't)#so instead I present to you: books I have actually read or at least am excited to read someday#also excited to come back in the future and see how many better options from 2023 I have since found and read#...ooh maybe that should be my next post: actual picks or top 5 contenders from 5 to 10 years ago?#also: rats. i should have done cover image collages to break up the text walls...oh well#GCA related

141 as people in my family who were in there actual military! Only four I know off the top of my head so just the main four.
Thanks to me only having four options to choose from they also donât match perfectly and I left out some shit to make them fit better.
Side note: these are ignoring any political views, religious beliefs, anything like that.
PRICE:
Oh. Easy.
My uncle used to be in the military, when he got older he got an injury and they made him retire. When he was back he found a good wife, had two kids, and became the principal of a school. Visits his family on weekends occasionally and constantly shows people photos of his kids and how theyâre doing (even when the conversation isnât anywhere near that direction)
Became sorta the man of the house after his father died. He was the oldest of three boys and a girl, and often got jokes made about being the oldest. His motherâs favorite 100%. Likes classical music for some godforsaken reason. Also surprisingly good at cooking.
GHOST:
Uhhhhhh yeah this would be far into the future but works the best for him
My grandma had a brother who was in the military. He died in war, and I never met him. Donât know the at much about him. Just kind of a name on the family tree, but my grandmaâs memoryâs getting worse thanks to age, doesnât even remember him, and we just have his old uniform. Guess all of us feel too guilty to do anything with it.
I guess I just donât think heâd end up having a wife or kids. It might get met with annoyance but this is just what I think. I think heâd let himself get forgotten and just be like the quote from asteroid city. âRemember me as a blur in the rear view mirror. Was I ever there? Did you actually see me?â Heâd just let himself get forgotten fight me
I think I mightâve rambled too much here
SOAP:
Not technically after retirement, but it works perfectly.
My cousin. Heâs in the military and heâll come home like every weekend and throw a party like a fucking frat boy even though heâs still serving. Disgusting. Every time I go to his room thereâs dirty shit and legos everywhere. Built a bar in his room.
Loves his parents to death, has like 6 siblings or smth I canât keep track, and somehow knows ALL of his cousins names. Knows the names of my cousins. Heâs not even related to them. Loves family.
My earliest memories of him are going to the lake and he always worked out a lot so he would try and see how many of his little cousins he could lift up. Even when he got yelled at. Then heâd play ping pong with us, plus COD, legos, and with him was the first time I played Minecraft.
GAZ:
Not perfect but I think it works.
Another uncle. He was in the air force and weâre just gonna use that for now cause I donât know how to bend it. He was in the force for YEARS until he just got too much back pain and had to retire. Has a wife he met at a college party and it seemed like itâd be a fling but now theyâre married happily with 3 kids.
After retiring he missed the brotherhood and the excitement of being in the air so he went back to training and became a pilot for a popular plane company (I forgot if itâs united or Alaska or something like that) since he couldnât go back to the military.
Loves cool hats and sunglasses, plus cooks a lot. We have âweird meat nightsâ where he brings some stuff he hunted and cooks it to perfection. Tastes like heaven, makes us guess what animal it is. Not a jerk hunter though. Only hunts for food, hates people who hunt for sport, and enjoys knowing where his food is from instead of packaged stuff. Also likes rock (surprisingly) and enjoys family card game nights!

PPULBATU CHERRIMO
synopsis - Joohyung has been waiting for this moment for years. She has even had stretches in her iPad planning out her very own character plushie that fully represents her.
a/n - very short
âOh my god!â Joohyung squeals with excitement. âI always want us to have plushies that moas could take pictures with and have on their bags.â The members nodded agreeing with Joohyung. One of the female designers laughed at Joohyungâs enthusiastic expression, âIâm glad that you feel that way.â
They carried on with the meeting showing each member their reference picture that they drew the other day, and showed their revision along with a better drawing picture of their characters. All the members were very happy with the options the designer gave them to fully understand what they wanted for their own character. âAnd lastly, so I see that you didnât want to change a single thing on yours Joohyung-ssi. I understood why because I think itâs really cool and cute at the same time, and it really fits you.â
âIâm dying to see noonaâs.â Taehyun sat up straighter. âI have a feeling itâs 100x better than all of ours.â Soobin chuckled. âActually, Iâll present it during the presentation portion.â Joohyung teased her members.
âË⧠︾âżâŕ˝ŕ˝˛ŕ˝ŕž ŕ˝ŕ˝˛ŕ˝ŕžââżď¸ľ â§Ëâ
After coloring the final pictures of their characters and making last minute decisions it was time to do a little presentation about their characters and their traits. âNoona goes first!â Kai calls out. âYeah weâre dying to see!â Beomgyu whined. Joohyung chuckles and stands up to head to the front of the table. âUmâŚI guess Iâll show my character now.â Joohyung didnât know how to start. âYou have to sound more confident.â Yeonjun pouted. âYou guys are hyping me up too much! Itâs getting me nervous.â Joohyung covers her face while laughing. Joohyung lightly slaps her cheeks trying to get herself together, âalright Iâm Joohyung and Iâm here to introduce you to my child, CherriMo~â

The room erupted in âahs and âoosâ. âCherriMo is actually double sided thatâs why you see two since many people say I have a soft side and dark side. CherriMo also has lots of fashion accessories because she loves fashion, and hopefully in the future she can have more little accessories that moas could change her looks a bit. And as you could see she has different wings which I have an idea to maybe have a magnet in her back so you could take on and off the wings, but I think thatâs too ambitious right now.â Joohyung points out.
âTo match her mother she has a very tsundere personality which goes along with her double form. Sheâs also mischievous and likes to be a bit reckless, but CherriMo is still a pretty shy girl when it comes to meeting new people.â Joohyung pauses to think if she has anything more to say about CherriMo. âMmâŚshe obviously stands out a bit more than others.â Since the rest of the membersâ donât have much accessories on their characters and they all look like they came from the same universe. âBut I feel like that fits me because I obviously stand out in the group more because Iâm the only girl and my fashion decisions could be questionable to some people and⌠yeah.â Joohyung shrugs, happy about her presentation.
âI love her! CherriMo is cute~â Kai already wanted to get a physical version of CherriMo.
âShe really matches you noona. I like how when sheâs mad her little sharp teeth are out. Dagonyang could act like the older brother of CherriMo.â Taehyun giggles at the thought.
âMaybe we should do the magnet idea and place it in their hands so CherriMo and Bamgeut could hold hands.â Beomgyu teased.
âCherriMo being double sided is so cool.â Yeonjun loved the idea a lot.
âWe shouldâve gotten noona to draw all of ours.â Soobin smiled.

There are so many things about the Daniel Ricciardo situation that frustrate and anger me, so I'm getting them off my chest before I lose the plot. I'm sure other people have said the same things, but here we go.
Horner made a whole big show of picking Daniel up after the McLaren debacle, bringing him back into "the family". Made himself out to be some sort of saviour. Rebuilding Daniel's confidence, his physical and mental health. Got a dig in at Zak in a press conference about "feeding Daniel up" because he was skinny. Invited DTS to see his return at Silverstone 2023. So to kick Daniel to the curb just a few races before the end of the season? Because they have "a lot of data on Daniel" and need to see other options for the future? Hypocritical c*nt.
Next, replacing him with someone they're not confident enough in to give a contract to straight away? Yes, Liam did a good job in Daniel's absence last year. This is absolutely not me shitting on Liam - I like him, and I think he and Yuki will be good teammates. But he's been out of full time racing for a while. Allegedly RB weren't overly excited about his testing times in the summer. While it will be interesting to see how he compares to Yuki, why are RB hanging onto Liam when they don't seem confident enough to give him a full time seat? Why are they so determined to keep pushing this one? (Yes I know the answer is probably contracts, but still.)
Then there's the fact that Daniel has actually outperformed Yuki in 6 of the last 9 races (since the start of the European leg). In the same period, they've scored the same number of points. Daniel has also been more consistent in his finishing position than Yuki. In terms of form, Singapore excluded (but I think we can forgive him that one, given the media shitstorm), he's been the better of the two and isn't it meant to be that the first person you need to beat is your teammate? There's only so much you can achieve in a tractor.
And we can't forget the Checo situation. Following the first six races he's bombed in comparison to Max. He's probably cost Red Bull the Constructors'. He was given a few races to improve, didn't and then was kept anyway (probably because of money and the Mexican GP). He often qualifies further behind (in time) Max than Daniel does Yuki. I know Red Bull are coming out now and saying they found a problem with their design from Barcelona last year, when Checo first started reporting issues but frankly I'm calling bullshit on that. As mentioned, Checo had six very good races and results at the start of 2024. And some decent ones at the end of 2023. At one point there was speculation that Daniel might even replace Checo mid-season (some reports say it was a done deal), so in the space of a few weeks to go from that to being dropped himself? I have whiplash.
And I think that's the hardest part. A lot of people were probably aware that it could be difficult for Daniel to get a seat for next year. But at no point was there any suggestion that he might get replaced mid-season. Not even in the middle, six races before the end. When Red Bull confirmed in the summer break that both Checo and Daniel would see out the seasons in their current seats.
Red Bull have created an absolute PR disaster and they deserve it. Driver of the Day, amongst many other things in the last 48 hours, reflects the love and respect so many people have for Daniel. People who see how emotional he was, who see that he didn't have an opportunity to say goodbye properly (fuck, even McLaren did that - remember the Monza 2021 photo on his steering wheel?). People who recognise that dumping him so close to the end of the season is ridiculous.
In the end, I hope that Daniel really is at peace with it all and is in better shape than he left McLaren; that he can be proud of all of his achievements in the sport. Drivers come and go, but very few make their mark in the way Daniel has done. He may not have broken records or won championships, but the fact that he will still be remembered for a very long time despite those things is a testament to his character, to the sort of person we all know and love.

"My feelings on" part 4: into the light once again and how it only takes a few gross tropes to taint what could've been a perfect piece of work.
I remember seeing the trailer for it so many times back in 2018 but I never got to read all of it since Tappytoons has a 30 ad policy just to get enough to buy on chapter. It's really good, wholesome families, sibling dynamics, a smart villain, and a magic system so the fantasy aspect wont be abandoned for cheap fanservice.

The protagonist used to be known as Alisa, 4th princess of Edenverre and was mistreated by family and servants with the exception of her younger sister, the golden child Marianne who is later revealed to be the mastermind behind the false accusations of poisoning Marianne Alisa faces. She is executed by her own family and comes back as the princess of the enemy empire Elmire, now known as Aisha she swears to one day get justice on her sister.

The revenge plot may be overrated but Into the light does it well enough that I could look past it. The politics and world building are fantastic and the element spirits low-key reminded me of gacha studio or genshin impact characters, and characters like Ashley and Mina aren't enemies for Aisha to defeat, they are people who make mistakes and are allowed to grow.
My favorite part of course is the villainess Marianne, she geninuely scares the hell out of me with her uncanny valley vibe she emits, there's always something so off about her and she reminds be almost of a monster who would star in the conjuring. Marianne has the ability to brainwash others and while I can't tell which, she either steals Alisas body or she causes an illusion affect to alter her and Alisas forms to the family of Edenverre (Really confusing but i like it) and while Marianne doesn't have as much screen time as I wished I enjoyed her while I could, because into the light treats Marianne with respect as an antagonist.

Marianne barely showing up may not even be a bad thing entirely, because while revenge is part of it, the story is built more on healing from your trauma and surrounding yourself with positive influences so it's reasonable that most chapters would center around Aishas powers and her family.
My only small gripe is a petty one but I'm pretty sure the author is an only child đ. I'm not saying that Aisha and Ysis should be full on murdering eachother but their so unbelievably protective of eachothers feelings to the point of Ysis disliking the idea of any man wanting to marry his sister in the future, ive even seen some fans get concerned that it was going into a brothe-sister thing (especially when he was included as an option for men for Aisha to be attracted to ick)
As someone who has lived with 3 siblings, the excitement for a new baby sibling dies after 3 weeks at most. But hey, they do got a large palace, maybe Ysis just had the luxury of not needing to listen to his baby sister cry at night. I also don't understand why Ysis would immediately believe that Aisha was a reincarnated soul that could remember her past. Like I know he loves her but if my sister started to tell me she was the executed princess in a past life I'd be more concerned.
I wish I could say that was the only thing I didn't like.. unfortunately as much as I love into the light once again, it doesn't stay great for very long. That was my only small gripe because I have a lot of large problems with the love interests
Aisha is 14 and turns 15 at some point but for most of the series, she's a young teen and all her love interests are leaps and bounds older then her. Starting with the big one, Luminas, a 2000 year old king of light who meets Aisha WHEN SHES STILL A BABY!

"Damn, too early, ill give it 13 more years."
Not even the second male lead is safe, Veon is the youngest of the male leads and he's basically watched Aisha grow up since he was Ysis's friend. I can't remember his exact age but I know he is at least 20 which is just... that doesn't make it any better!. There's also apparently some dude named Arsen who's also at least 25 years old and one of Alisas childhood friends, I've heard people say he's another love interest but I haven't seen anything confirmed myself so I'll just hope my 2nd favorite character isn't going to be going after minors.

I'm starring to think the author has an age-gap fetish at this point.
Quick thing I wanted to bring up, a lot of the comments on this chapter have been uncomfortable not just with the age gap and pedophilic weirdness but also this dress. It doesn't look bad but it's built like a maternity dress and for some reason she looks pregnant in a lot of shots which just.. I'm gonna hope we're all just overthinking that one because the last thing this manhwa needs is implications that Aisha will get pregnant young.

While there is a lot of people who are rightfully uncomfortable with the 2000 year age gap, there is also a lot of people justifying it. "He treats Aisha well though!" "It was normal in that time!" "Your just being too soft! Let Aisha be happy!!"
Let me bring up some real history for minute.
This is Isabella of Valois during her wedding with Richard II, she is the youngest bride currently known about in the medieval era

Isabella was only 6 years old when she married her 29 year old husband.
This is Margaret Beaufort.

She was 12 when she got married to her 24 year old husband and 13 years old when she gave birth to Henry VII
And probably one of the more well known examples, Catherine Howard.

She could have been as young as 15 and as old as 17 when she married Henry VIII who was 49.
Now did these examples make your skin crawl? Did they make you feel disgusted? Well they should, just because it was normal in that era, doesn't mean it's all of a sudden fine. There isn't even the cheap excuse that Aisha is technically over 20 given her mental age since Alisa died at 14 and Aisha is very clearly still mentally a young teenager.
Luminas and Veon are definitely nowhere near the personalities of men like Henry VIII but that also doesn't make it okay either. Especially when Veon basically watched Aisha grow up and she's his friends little sister! and Luminas knew her since she was an infant. Would it be that hard for Aisha to at least be a young adult and not a 14 year old. Because it really feels like Luminas is waiting for her to be legal since he already tells her she's his ideal woman when she's still a 14 year old.
Conclusion: Into the light once again is a beautiful story about healing from your trauma and the writting and the characters are just amazing. But it all feels like it's backpeddled when it's so heavily romanticizing or just straight up ignoring the fact that Aisha is basically a grooming victim, the relationship is practically covered in glitter to make it look better, "Sure Luminas is 2000 years old and Aisha isn't even an adult but at least he's so nice to her and he teachers her how to summon spirits! He'll always protect her!" Because while Luminas will (hopefully) never hurt her. Real groomers absolutely will. It pushes the message that as long as the man who is old enough to be your dad is sweet to you and protects you, then it's fine if he has feelings for you. Intentional or not. A story about healing from trauma supporting relationship where ones a child and ones a god with a mature mental age to boot is kind of like when movie producers fucked up the original meaning of Lolita.
Coming up on the next "My feelings on":

#into the light once again#Marianne de edenverre#Ysis#luminas#lord veon#There are actual people who say Aisha is mature for her age so it's fine#Ew just full on ew.#Aisha de elmire

It surprised me to see many armys taken aback by the lack of nominations for jimin in some (I think) american and/or european awards, and I don't even think those awards mean anything at all, that's not the point, but I think this is the first time I've seen so many armys (and not only pjms) talk about a jimin-centric issue without trying to ot7fy it. Because let's be honest, no one was expecting the rest of them to be nominated for any western award (and that's fine because, again, those awards mean nothing at all to me) but I feel like there's a growing collective sentiment, or more like more people are starting to realize that jimin, THEE Park Jimin, is meant to occupy a larger space than he was given and that he's being purposely pushed back. I know it's been months, and it's pointless to keep ruminating on the past and what could have been, but now that even army is starting to notice, I can't believe hybe can't see how badly they fumbled the bag, right?
I can't really comment on the spectrum of reactions across the fandom because I didn't go looking for this specific thing, but what I can do is share my thoughts and the issue can be explained very easily (in my opinion)
Jimin has promoted his songs and album release in South Korea through various means, including his participation to several music shows for which he won as well. In this case, his future presence at end of the year award shows is almost to be expected and I'm sure it will happen. I think the k-pop industry is much better at this type of recognition for the work idols do throughout the year and it's a platform for some spectacular performances.
At the same time, Jimin also promoted in the U.S, albeit at a much smaller scale, since that wasn't his go to market for reasons that I won't speculate here. But, as a result of his comeback and his fans' reception of the album and LC, he has made an achievement on a U.S platform that is used as one measure of success, aka, the Billboard Hot 100. Not only that, it was historical given that he was the first SK solo act to achieve No. 1. By simply having that achievement in the U.S market, he qualifies for U.S music awards, the same as other artists from SK who are nominated and which had less achievements, but that's another topic I'm not interested in talking about right now.
Nevertheless, in that case, Jimin and LC should have been at least submitted. As of now, it looks like the label didn't go further and acted in their capacity, which lead to Jimin's absence from nominations, including the K-Pop categories.
I think these are the facts that we know or at least this is how the situation is coming across. As for the reason why it happened, I find myself asking the same question. Not because I'm desperate for Jimin to have the same career trajectory as everyone else or to push for the U.S market, but because in this particular case, he qualified for the nominations. It's as simple as that. And if I allow myself to speculate a bit, I think the option of Jimin not being interested or that it was his choice sounds outlandish, given his excitement when SMFpt.2 debuted at no. 30 and the heartfelt message he had when LC had its debut. Regardless of any other debates about kpop and the U.S market, for some it is still seen as an achievement and something to be proud of and Jimin was, in his typical humble and elegant way.

'iâd hate to see how youâd behave with a girl you DONâT like đ'
lowk bro acts the same LMAOOO
also i realized this today but part of the reason why i think he didnt tell me ab him and his ex getting back tgth is he knew i HATED his ex LMAOOO
'however, you should never rely on a man for his money, being financially dependent is a necessity'
oh of course not queen. i am a cs baddie on the rise. we both go to a college prep school. relying on him for money was never an option đđđđ
'everyoneâs too busy caring about themselves to do anything about it :)'
our grade is so tiny we have nothing better to do than talk ab other ppl i fear....
and when i say our grade is tiny, i mean it. like most public schools have graduating classes of like
ehh 500 or so.
our graduating class is going to be 70 people.
'not until you wipe ur mouth from that indirect kiss from that THING you call a man đ'
I STARTED CACKLING HELLO
'tojis bumcrack âcause i find that hilarious HAHAHA đđ'
YES OMG THATS WHAT I WAS HOPING IT WAS
'âcause weâre exchanging cute nicknames but then heâs come back to ruin it :/'
i think shitbag for u in my asks is like kamo for me in ur story đđđ
'DO NOT INVITE HIM TO UR PARTY đ'
THE ISSUE IS IVE TOLD HIM AB IT A LOT....
so the new shitbag lore is that
in a gc i have w him and some of my close friends, i was complaining about not having a bf and how i want one so bad.
and i get a call. i do not see who it is. i assume it's my mother bc it's late at night and i'm making too much noise. i answer the phone.
it's shit bag.
he turns the call into a ft and screenshares our school's directory, asking me what i think of every guy on the thing.
i think he's trying to set me up with one of them.
we narrow it down to the only two guys in my grade i'd consider being even slightly attracted to.
he decides to add a third guy to this list.
for this, there is more lore u must know.
back when me and shitbag were just bsfs, i rlly liked one of shitbag's friends. lets call him niceguy. niceguy, like his name, was rlly nice and rlly funny. and i've known him since 2nd grade bc we went to the same elementary and middle school.
and i started liking niceguy this summer bc i worked with him at a summercamp. it was lots of fun. and i ended up inviting him to my bday party and he came and we got a picture tgth which ended up being rlly cute.
i would talk to shitbag a lot ab niceguy, asking for advice and shit.
and then one day, i am looking through my phone. and at this point, we had our homecoming dance within 2 weeks of the present day. and i was rlly hoping niceguy would ask me bc we texted a lot and talked a lot in person. and a lot of ppl rlly thought he might like me back.
but as i'm going through instagram, i see his story is him, one of my not so close friends, and a hoco proposal sign.
i am torn. i am distraught. i have a 4 hour ft call with shitbag to discuss it.
and niceguy and the friend i'm not so close with start dating from that day forward.
after a month or so, they break up.
and that is why, shitbag wants me to add niceguy back to the list.
where was i going with this? uhhhh... oh right. so shitbag ended up fting me for too damn long going through our directory.
and then i told him i was gonna go sleep (WHICH I WAS QUITE PROUD OF BC WHEN I LIKED HIM, I WOULD STAY UP AND FT WHENEVER HE ASKED AND WOULD WAIT TIL HE WANTED TO SLEEP LMAOO)
and i havent texted him since!
now, on better news. i am currently replaying mystic messenger. i do not know if u know this game but i played it when iw as 13 and i am feeling very nostalgic as of late so i had to hop back on the game. i am having much fun and i think this is part of the reason why i havent been texting shitbag back.
god bless for fictional men!
anyways how is your life going wifey?
i think this may be the last of the shitbag updates so shorter asks coming soon!
LMAOOO
bye pookie
HI HI HELLO <3
âI AM SO GLAD THAT GOJO CLOCKED SUKUNA'S TEA!â â can you tell iâm a very biased gojo stan? đâźď¸ sukuna lovers are in enemy territory rn iâm jk, like yeah i hate that thing with a PASSION, but idc if you love no-neck-ed LMAOO
âALSO Y/N SITTING ON GOJO'S SHOULDERS IS SO ADORABLE I LOVED ITâ â i HAD to implement dadjo in the series bc as much as his relationship with the characters in canon was more like a fun older brother looking out for his students, heâs so father coded, specifically during the exchange event in s1 of jjk đŤ like his behaviour was sooo embarrassing-dad-supporting-his-kids (and the fit looked delicious like yum yum iâm eating well tonight đ)
âi was also so grateful to not have to read kamo speak in this chapter. brought me much joyâ â HELP HEâS JUST A GUY WITH A CRUSH đ the kamo hate is so funny yet i feel so bad for him đ but keep âem coming, it still lowkey brings me joy HAHAHA
âeven tho Y/N'S BITCH ASS WAS SPENDING TOO MCUH TIME WITH HIMâ â girl any more of the y/n criticism from you and iâm gonna start to think you hate our poor mc đŤľđ˝đđŤˇđ˝
but just to be clear, it was just a tutoring session with kamo. they werenât hanging-out-hanging-out, iygwim?
âif you tear this away from me, i will hunt you down and shiv you when you least expect itâ â đ
iâve been keeping my windows and doors locked SINCE the malakai hate train started a couple months ago, âcause i knew that if that poor emo kid was getting hate âcause of a random ANON who started shipping him and y/n (theyâve still yet to reveal themselves đ¤¨) then the kamo hate would rise astronomically from the very same ppl đ
now with that threat, i humbly remind you of the âangstâ tag đ no comment on anything after that
âfor legal reasons, this is a jokeâ â i sURE HOPE SO??? đ
âI AM SO VERY EXCITED FOR FUTURE CHAPTERS!!!!â â IAISNWISNWIEJ ME TOO, but unfortunately, at some point from here and up until june, there are gonna be super slow updates :( iâll address that another time tho! <3
now for the rest of the askkk :)
thereâs a problem with ur shin ramen recipeâŚ
i am (unfortunately) a very picky eater. and i hate peanut butter âšď¸ but you probably already guessed that with the âhey hey hey stay with me nowâ 𼴠iâm sorry, peanut butter is vile
shin ramen is just not for me ig đĽ˛
now as for shitbag⌠ik you mention that you guys have mutual friends and are in several gcâs tgth, so maybe blocking him is just not possible here, but giving him clipped responses when he texted and declining face-times is very much possible, i believe đ get away from that sad excuse of a human being kay, PLS
like you can text him when he texts you first (the italics here are important) but make sure theyâre very simple responses, nothing he can use as an opportunity to build on. and 4hr face-times are a nO NO.
absolutely no.
he has a gf, you are not his gf, and even if you DESPISE who heâs currently with, be the better person and leave it đ
there! problem solved! đ
âalso i realised this today but part of the reason why i think he didnt tell me ab him and his ex getting back tgth is he knew i HATED his exâ â hmmm, this tells me a lot about him already đ iâm sorry kay, i do NOT like this imposter who-entered-earth-without-a-visa đ
âI STARTED CACKLING HELLOâ â HAHAHA đ iâm dead serious. i donât like that guy. i even feel like âshitbagâ as a name for him is a compliment, if anything.
âi think shitbag for u in my asks is like kamo for me in ur storyđđđâ â FREEZE đ¤¨đ¤đ˝
i donât not support kamo hate, but i donât support it either. and yet, this one sentence is the only kamo-hate-sentence that lowkey has me tweaking.
do not compare our respectful-nonchalant-dreadhead-kamo to that bin-juice-of-a-human-being-SHITBAG. EVER đ¤˘
âso the new shitbag lore is thatâ â STOP âđ˝ HALT đ
did i forget to mention that i DETEST shitbag with my whole entire being?
âand then i told him i was gonna go sleep (WHICH I WAS QUITE PROUD OF BC WHEN I LIKED HIM, I WOULD STAY UP AND FT WHENEVER HE ASKED AND WOULD WAIT TIL HE WANTED TO SLEEP LMAOO)â â CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 𼳠WE LOVE TO SEE IT
ok good, youâre not longer texting that unique-breed-of-human-kind, got my first point out of the way real quick. donât ever text him unless he texts you
secondly, niceguyâs available. probably the only thing i agree with shitbag with. you should get with niceguy :)
my personal opinion that i have rooted to the core is to stay single forever and ever, marry fictional men and die in love with them, âcause thatâs been my plan for as long as i can remember and look at me: no situationships, no drama, no SHITBAGS đ¤
ânow, on better newsâ â YESSS
âi do not know if you know this gameâ â iâm not aware of it. even when i looked it up, i was a little confused haha. i was a moviestarplanet, stardoll, baby hazel, moshi monsters, bin weevils, purble place, club penguin, sarahâs cooking class, papaâs freezeria, pizzaria, hotdogaria (etc), roblox girly through and through đĽ´
but i am super glad you are starting to find enjoyable things to look back on that take you away from the negative doom-cloud that is shitbag! đ idek you irl but that genuinely makes me so happy for youuuu <3
âgod bless for fictional men!â â ameen đ
âanyways how is your life going wifey?â â ugh, donât even get me started đ iâm living vicariously through you, honestly đ
âi think this may be the last of the shitbag updates so shorter asks coming soon!â â THEY CAN STILL BE LONG, I LOVE HEARING ABOUT UR DAY AND STUFF AND GETTING TO KNOW YOU, but iâm glad shitbag will no longer be the centre of our conversations (literally who does he think he is, starring as a mc in MY blog)
I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAYYY ;)
#iâm sorry for answering so late!#iâve been so incredibly busy if you couldnât already tell haha đ#and ik this was sent in a few days ago so apologies!!!#the relief i got knowing that shitbag will not dictate ur life anymore#PHEWWE#hated that thing#if you couldnât already tell#idk i donât think i emphasised it enough#đ#kayâs FREE guys#sheâs free#that means we have a shot- WHO SAID THAT#đŤ

what do you believe that might happen in Sinsmas?
Hi there! Honestly up until now I had lots of ideas of how things might go, especially since I thought Sinsmas would be the moment Blitz and Stolas would meet again after Apology Tour. Unlike many other people who'd correctly theorized Stolas would lose his title and powers eventually, I'd never thought it would really happen, especially so soon - so the end of Mastermind completely took me by surprise! So the little I can think about is just based on the tiny clips in the trailer we still haven't seen.
- First, I wonder if Sinsmas will basically pick up the morning after the end of Mastermind or if there will be a small time jump. First option would be interesting to see how Stolas and Blitz act around each now that the adrenaline has died down a bit. The time jump could show how they've started to adapt to that new routine, but it feels a bit unlikely to me.
- I assume Blitz and Stolas will go to the palace, not to try to conquer it back since basically every powerful demon is against them, but maybe to take something back (the grimoire? some belongings?), or potentially get Octavia back if she's there? Andrealphus definitely seems to be keeping them from going in, and will attack them.
- Clearly Octavia will be upset at her father (and understandably so, from her point of view) for "choosing" Blitz over her. From where I stand, it seems unlikely she immediately forgives him, so I either see her ask for more time to think about it, or completely shutting him out (ow).
- I've also seen Sallie May's VA say she'd be back for this episode, so considering the title, I assume it could feature a Christmas-themed B plot which would gather several characters together? The episode could either go back and forth between the Stolas/Blitz plot and that, OR put the drama first and maybe end on a more relaxed, festive note?
- Which leaves Stolas and Blitz's relationship. Again, the end of Mastermind completely blindsided me, I didn't expect Blitz to be so "open" about his feelings for Stolas, even if it's clear he still has things he wants to say. The way I see it, it's almost inevitable that he will fully confess, but it could go two different ways: 1) Stolas is still too shaken by what happened, especially if it goes badly with Octavia, and pulls back (evil option, though understandable), or 2) he's perhaps in a more "stable" headspace and will react accordingly, and they'll "get together".
Honestly I have no idea. The show is highly unpredictable at times and it keeps surprising me in the best ways (plus we have very little footage of Sinsmas to piece together, unlike the previous episodes). I can see both options happen:
- the show is very good at using the tragic aspect of missed opportunities and devastating yearning, so the emotional blast of Blitz finally being ready to have a real relationship with Stolas only for Stolas to step back, would be extremely powerful.
- on the other hand, the show is clearly about healing from your past and seeking a better future for yourself. Blitz has recently gone through insanely intense experiences that made him reflect a lot on his behavior. It would be really devastating to see it all crumble down around him again. Besides, it's not like he and Stolas finally being a couple will erase every single problem they have, and the next arc could focus on them figuring out how to make it work.
So yeah, I have no idea what will happen exactly, the show is too unpredictable and layered to be certain - and that's a good thing! Leaves even more excitement for what's to come! đâď¸
#didn't expect to write so much but yeah. there you go! đ#helluva boss#helluva boss spoilers#answered

ok i got bored and mentally obsessed with sengen so everyone welcome my first fanfiction in years:
in which Senku feels nostalgic for the first time in years and love makes him do a silly mindless thing
this is not proofread + no real warnings methinks, besides Dr Stone S3 spoilers and some hcs for the future cast. your only content warning is some Sengen or Gensen (Senku x Gen), but can be interpreted in either platonic or romantic love.
Cola Advertisement
Itâs late out. Very late. Might even be 2am. Senku is too lazy to check his watch, though.Â
He wanders the streets of the rebuilt Minato City, partially headed in the direction of his home, partially willing to let any distraction lead him a different way. It had been a long day of continuing his many various research projects with Chrome, whoâd left earlier. Heâs got a pregnant wife after all, canât spend all his hours at the lab with Senku. Heâd asked Senku if heâd like to join them for dinner, as Ruri would likely be happy to see him. He declined however, his mind elsewhere.Â
He was sure Chrome had only invited him because of how out of it he had seemed today.Â
Senku tilted his head upwards, gazing at the endless starry expanse, somewhat blocked by tall, concrete towers and drowned out by glowing fluorescent light. It was done. It had been done for some time. Humanity was restored, there was no more work to do, and it had been five long years since the end of it all. Senku didnât like to admit it, but at the end, heâd felt satisfied, but the impending threat of uncertainty had loomed behind him for long enough, and he had to accept it at this point. Heâd love to admit that he had not a millimeter of interest in processing his own feelings, preferring to distract himself with science, but today, even science hadnât done the job. He sighed and kicked a stray pebble, frustrated at his own feelings. Who could he even talk to about this, if he even wanted to?
Taiju would be understanding, but he also wouldnât quite get it. The big oaf had other responsibilities now, and Senku wouldnât care to pester him with something as trivial as this. Kohaku was an option, but she had better things to do, being the owner of her own dojo and all. Besides, she was simply glad to see the former glory sheâd been born outside of. She wouldnât understand the loss Senku felt. Tsukasa might, but he had his little sister to care for. He considered Tsukasa a close friend all the same, and he might even get where Senkuâs coming from, but Tsukasa missed out on quite a bit of the excitement. Maybe he wasnât the best idea, after all. Chrome was an option, too, but he was probably sleeping by now. He couldnât bring himself to contact him, not when all his sleep would be taken up by a screaming infant in less than three months.Â
Senku sighed again, running a hand through his hair. Thinking about this was pointless. Feeling this way was pointless. It would ultimately get him nowhere, because there was nothing to be done about it. If anything, he should be pleased. Humanity saved, Whyman defeated, society back to how it was before. People living out their lives, time passing by in the blink of an eye, everything wrong and right with the world back into place. This was what he wanted, wasnât it? Yes, this was what he wanted. But if this was what he wanted, why was there this emptiness present in his chest? What was missing?
He felt sick, nausea rumbling through his body all at once. He gritted his teeth and kept walking, swallowing the feeling away. He didnât have time for this.Â
He started walking faster, with more purpose. He was going to head straight home and go straight to bed, disregard any of his feelings and just sleep them off. Surely heâd be fine come morning, and everything would be normal again. Science would do just the trick to distract him, heâd do his work with a bounce in his step, and heâd smile without feeling the need to purposely crinkle his eyes to make it look real.Â
His steps became smaller and hurried, his eyebrows began to knit together in a frown, and his fingers curled into fists. Feeling this way was ridiculous. Yet, no matter how many times he thought that, the feeling refused to go away. It stayed, no matter how tightly he dug his nails into his palms, no matter how roughly he bit his lip, no matter how quickly he drove his legs to walk him home. All at once, his body seems to release, and he exhales, suddenly stopping his pace. He looks down at the ground, examining the red marks in his palms from his nails. He sighs yet again, slowly getting sick of all this sighing, and continues on his way, relaxed pace reclaimed. Anger and frustration was no way to go about this. Remaining calm was his best bet.Â
He walks near a TV advertisement screen embedded into the wall near a shopping plaza. He spots something familiar on the cover. Itâs the picture Minami took of him in the stone age, several years ago. His tongue was out, in the classic pose Albert Eistein took. Next to the image were big words that read: âCome to Ishigami Museum, and get to see the first picture taken since the rebirth of the stone age, and the camera it was taken with!â. His mind took him back to that moment, where they had him pose in various clothes and stances, before they finally settled on an appropriate one, and he simply stuck his tongue out. He exhaled, a light chuckle following it. A smile grew on his face, and his eyes softened. Perhaps feeling this way wasnât so bad if it made the nostalgia this sweet.Â
The screen changes, showing a new advertisement. This one was for Ryuusuiâs three-star Michelin restaurant, led by Francois. The advertisement read: âFeeling Greedy? Stop by Ryuusuiâs Greed, three-star Michelin restaurant to fulfill all your desires!â. Senku couldnât repress a smirk this time, reminiscing on the most greedy man in the world, and how he helped rebuild humanity. Heâd been incredibly useful in navigating the seas and the skies, and his greed only further spurred him on to completion of the rebuild of society. Francois was also incredibly useful. Nobody quite made bread like them, or any foods like them for that matter. Their dedication to hospitality and feeding greed made them just as useful an asset. Senku let the smirk slowly reduce to a soft smile, ignoring the feeling of his heart swelling. Nostalgia was sweet, but if he kept thinking, heâd keep remembering.
Again the screen changes, flicking to another advertisement. It was a ramen advertisement, with Ganen, one of the previous Ishigami villagers, enjoying a large bowl of ramen with a pleased smile on his face. The advertisement read: âNEW Special Spicy Ganenâs Favorite Ramen! Available at most grocery stores!â. This took him back, too, to when heâd made ramen for the villagers for the first time. In his mouth, it was crumbly and bland, but to them, it was like ambrosia. A faint smile arrives on his face as he remembers the expressions and awe of the villagers at the mystery food, amazed that a single man could complete such a feat. Really, it had been nothing at the time, but it was still pleasing to know that the villagers would no longer have to feast on nothing but fish. This nostalgia was oddly sweet too, but he felt a pang in his chest when the ramen reminded him of his first meeting with a⌠particular character.Â
As though reading his mind, the screen changes, the next advertisement a beautiful glaring red, and sporting the visage of said particular character, happily smiling and holding a cola. Heâd recognize this person anywhere, even from miles away; the split dye, the lavender coat, the twisted smile, and the curved stone scar. Asagiri Gen. His âdearâ mentalist. All at once, fondness and regret seem to swallow him whole. His heart swelled and at the same time, his stomach sank. A wide smile spread on his face before he could stop it, and at the same time, his eyes burned with liquid emotion. Of course. Of course, heâd be on a Cola ad. He swallows thickly, gazing at the advertisement, blinking his emotion away. Five years. Itâd been five long years. Heâd done everything to bite his tongue and forget about losing contact with some people, letting the regret turn into fuel to keep him pressing on through his experiments. Love was ten billion percent pointless, and heâd had not a millimeter of interest in it⌠It only brought mindless decisions, after all. And yet⌠Senku still experienced love all the same, like when heâd babysit Suika for Kohaku, and when heâd visit Taiju and Yuzuriha for nothing more than saying hello, and when heâd have long reminiscent talks with Tsukasa, further rambling about science to him as Mirai watched with rapt attention. Heâd lost contact with a few people, but somehow, the most painful by far was Asagiri Gen, no matter how little he liked to admit that. Heâd had a TV show to run and fame to fuel, so his schedule was always taken up by work. And Senku had to throw himself into new science projects in efforts to fill the empty void that loomed once humanity had been rebuilt. They went their separate ways, and now heâs here. Standing in front of an ad screen, staring longingly at the figure within, trying to pinpoint the reason his heart swells with pride and affection and why his stomach drops with regret.
He knew from the moment Gen had mentioned cola that, one day, Senku would have to make some just for him. It was partially obvious, but something in his mind clicked. He just knew. Cola had to be the next step. He knew, when Gen came to him excitedly about the fizzy water, he was expecting Cola. And he couldnât help but tease him just a little bit, showing how itâd be used for baking soda instead. Heâd long since had the cola prepared, just for him, and made sure to put it somewhere where heâd obviously see it. He smiled fondly at the memory, partially wishing heâd seen Genâs expression when he saw the Cola. Then, heâs reminded of the gift Gen got him in return. An observatory and telescope, just for him. Above and beyond, that guy.Â
Senku remembers how Gen was with him almost every step of the way, even staying when things went south. âMost shallow manâ my ass. The trust he put in Senku was enormous, and Senku had an equally large amount of trust in Gen. Perhaps more than just trust. Far, far more than simple trust.
Love leads to mindless decisions.
Perhaps this is why he comes to the conclusion that, if anyone is awake and available to talk to him and would fully, completely understand where heâs coming from, itâd be Asagiri Gen. Perhaps this is why he searches in his phone for Genâs old number, hoping against all hope that heâd pick up the call. Perhaps this is why his hands shake as he presses the call button. Perhaps this is why his palms sweat as he holds the phone in his hand, listening to it ring. Perhaps this is why his heart thuds in his chest, echoing in his ears, louder than the ringing of the phone. Perhaps this is why his heart stops when the ringing stops and a familiar voice speaks in a shaky, yet giddy voice.Â
âS-Senku-chan!?â He can hear the shock in the other manâs voice, and is overwhelmed with emotion. He doesnât know whether to laugh or to cry. He clenches his hand in a fist, staring directly at Genâs face on the advertisement.
When he responds, he surprises himself at how soft and affectionate his own voice sounds. A tear rolls down his cheek.
âHey, Gen.â

Alien Fight Post-Mortem
At first, the scope of the game was good, unlike the platformer prototype, I started to add features with a clear plan. This made the project more strutured and organized. Design Notes One thing is for sure, no matter what, I paid lots of attention to the alien theme and animations, that was a great plus to the game, while on the other hand, I am supposed to also bring in some essential things like a health bar, a clear win/loss system, and even a well put tutorial. Of course, it was my idea to have some more alien options though I've only come up with two so far. This decision was behind the game'ser feeling like a prototype rather than a finished project.
What Worked Well: - Logic of the Game: One way that worked very well was the implementation of the "move mouse" feature to shoot and cost the enemies from the screen edges, making the game responsive and funny. - Cry Animation & Bullet Mechanics: Quite a small change, like crying and at the same time being hit by the alien, was able to transmit the personality that the game had. Following the mouse was also the perfect method and it made the game look very smooth. Challenges - Difficulty Balancing: One of the good things that happened was when we only tested with enemies coming from above and below was that it was fun. However, in the case of the (left / right) side spawns, it was too difficult for the players to avoid and survive the attack. - Collisions: The initial collision masks had a much larger area than needed, causing the game to misinterpret most near-misses as hits. However, the aftercareful adjustment of the mask made a significant improvement in the fairness of the game. - No Sound and Music: The lack of sound or music during the game was a major factor in the game feeling somewhat lifeless. Thus, I aim to be introducing these elements in my future versions. - Only One Control: Although it was supposed to be a mouse-only game, most of the players who test the game have found it to be restrictive. Many players recommended using keyboard + mouse to get better movement and shooting options when the game is to be designed as a game that suits both types of controls.
Playability Feedback Certain players were impressedby both the concept and the images. Some of the players were not moving as they were in confusion due to the absence of the instructions which would guide them, and they did not have a clear objective. The majority of players wanted a health system that would provide them with the ability to attack more.
Changes After Testing - Adjusted collision masks inside the code - Got to adding sounds
My New Knowledge Listening to the comments of the players is a big help especially when it comes to the game's betterment. Even the minute remarks were a great help and led to the improvement of the main parts of the prototype. GDevelop has had a positive impact on my confidence. I currently have better knowledge of how to design events, use variables, and perform animations efficiently.
What could improved if I had a chance to come back to this project again and I had more time, I would certainly concern about health bars for the enemy and the player to the game
Final Thoughts Even though the game has just taken its first steps, I can already see that great progress has been made and a lot of ideas have been put into practice. The game is just in the beginning but it is full of promise. With some extra finishing touches, it will grow into a vibrant, adorable, and replayable shooter game that will stand out because of its uniqueness and simplicity.
At the beginning, Alien Fight was a minimalist 3rd person maze shooter in space, featuring funny little aliens, which was aimed at providing a non-violent, mouse-controlled, fast-paced, exciting game. But the game begins to take a different form along with the introduction of the tailored animations, the bullet-mechanism, and the different enemy types. The project was set to be quite simple from the start, however, real-time feature additionsâlike various directions for the spawn of the enemies and the emotional animationsâmade the prototype more appealing but a bit chaotic. Even with its simple tools, GDevelop was able to help in the realization of the core mechanics, nevertheless difficulties like the collision detection problem and the fact that there was no audio or health system showed up in the playtest phase.

From player feedback, it was evident that the game's charisma and graphics were greatly liked, although it was emphasized that improvements in certain areas such as clearer instructions, sound effects, and difficulty balance were still necessary. The project was a font of inspiration regarding the management of the project's scope, the prioritizing of the features, and the value of player guidance. To sum up, Alien Fight was a learning event full of incentives that hugely raised my self-belief in GDevelop and formed a basis for my future approach to game development with more organization, planning, and a player-centric-focused design.

No Mercy: Episode 5: Goodbye, Thunderdome. Hello, Dramarama.

I spent a long time after the last episode trying to figure out how a future Monsta X member wonât get cut in this mission. Mosquito is the best option for elimination, and he is going to have to be truly terrible. Heâs going to have to insist on singing an original piece called âI Hate Koreaâ and end the number by burning down the K-Pop Thunderdome while the judges run for their lives. I donât see how anything less will work.
Iâm also trying to stay positive about the Hyungwon vs. Wonho battle weâre about to see. Iâve been wrong before. Letâs give them a chance as we begin this episode entitled, âThe End of 2nd Debut Mission! Who will be eliminated?â
We flash back to the practice room. Our two boys are trying to choose a song. Wonho asks, âDo you think we should make it sexy, or could we do something weâre good at?â I swear, thatâs what the subtitles say. I wish he had listened to himself before choosing the song we know is coming. Someone should have shown him his own subtitles. Instead, he plays âSexy Backâ on his phone, and Hyungwon is sold. The die is cast.
Cut to Wonho walking down the street. He tells us that before he was a trainee, he was a dancer. We are off to meet the dance group leader, Kim Kyu Sang. Heâs a big deal in K-pop. Â He has created choreography for many top artists. He wishes Wonho luck on the show. He seems nice. After our meeting with Mad Clown in the last episode, I was worried this guy would tell Wonho that all dreams die, and life is a never-ending downward spiral into the infinite abyss of despair, but no. Nice to know not all K-pop bigwigs are total downers.
Wonho tells him about âSexy Backâ and demonstrates some of the dance moves. Mr. Kim is at a disadvantage because Hyungwon isnât there in all his enigmatic adorkableness to show him why this is a bad idea. He does make a point of telling Wonho he needs to be confident, so maybe he has been watching previous episodes.
Cut to the final practice. Theyâre dancing with canes. Like the ones you see paired with top hats. This is going to hurt, isnât it? Mosquito is going to have to commit an actual felony onstage to save our future band, isnât he?
Back to the K-Pop Thunderdome. Canât put this off any longer. At least theyâre not wearing top hats.
We begin ⌠and âŚ
Theyâre really good. Dare I say it ⌠theyâre fucking hot.

Theyâre confident. Their dance moves are sexy as they prowl the stage. Wonho doesnât show his abs once. Hyungwon has gone from mysterious to âcome over here right now.â
Big finish as they hit the stage in a perfect fall. The judges applaud. Theyâre not as excited as they were after previous performances, but they liked it. Hyolyn tells Hyungwon he looks like heâs already a pop star. Overall, Wonho did better on vocals, and Hyungwon did better on dancing.
Wonho is chosen to face elimination. But like every eliminated person after Shownu, he should be proud. Both of them should be proud. And they should accept my apology for my lack of faith. I am a bad monbebe.
Now. The final battle. Everything hinges on Mosquito vs. Yoosu. I canât wait to see how awful this is going to be to justify not sending Shownu home.

Flashback to the rehearsal rooms. The other trainees say this is an odd matchup, and theyâre not sure how itâs going to work. Their styles are too different. This becomes all too clear as we listen to Mosquito and Yoosu try to pick a song. Yoosu wants a Korean song. Mosquito wants an American song. Maybe their performance will just be the two of them arguing over what their song should be. It starts to get heated. When we move ahead to Day 2 of rehearsals, theyâre still arguing over the song. They finally agree on a new arrangement of âReplayâ by SHINee.
We skip ahead to the final day of practice. Theyâre arguing over the choreography. Mosquito looks irritated, so they argue about the irritated look on his face. They criticize each other in the confessionals. Now Iâm thinking their performance will be an actual fistfight that gets broken up by the cops. That would be awesome. Terrible. Â I meant terrible.

Showtime! They greet the judges. They have a cafĂŠ table set up onstage. They both sit. Yoosu is reading. The SHINee song begins. Theyâre not dancing. Theyâre singing a conversation about a pretty girl they see nearby. The judges look puzzled. Why are they just sitting there?
After a few verses, they finally stand up. They do a few shuffling dance steps, and then the song ends.
Okay, that was boring, but it wasnât the dumpster fire I was hoping for. Is âboringâ enough to keep Shownu in the game?
The judges politely clap. They are not smiling. After trying to find her words, Hyolyn gives up and tells them they both failed. The other judges chime in. Both voices were unsteady. They didnât use their strengths as vocalists. These guys are getting the same scolding that Shownu and Kihyun got, but where the judges were angry with those two, theyâre just quietly disappointed in these two. And as any misbehaving kid will attest, the disappointment is much worse.
Time to choose a candidate for elimination. Itâs Yoosu, not Mosquito. I feel bummed for both of them. I feel so sorry for Mosquito, Iâm going to go back to using his real name. Itâs just not fun anymore, especially since weâre stuck with him for at least one more mission.
They really should have burned the stage down. At least that would have been something.
Now for the judges to decide which rapper and which vocalist to cut. They argue. One judge keeps tapping on a traineeâs picture, insisting he wants that one out. Thankfully, we only get a few seconds of this. The trainees are called back to the stage. The numbered boxes still line the stage, but numbers eleven and twelve are gone.

Before the eliminations, the winning vocalist will be announced. This trainee will record a song with Soyou and Giriboy. The winner is ⌠Kihyun. Woah. Even after that awful performance, the judges recognized how amazing his voice is. Honestly, Iâm a little disappointed they didnât choose Hyungwon. Based on this mission alone, I think he deserved it more.
Kihyun might be thinking the same thing, because he looks a little stunned. He has spent the past several hours buried under suffocating humiliation, and now that itâs almost over and he can finally get back to the dorm, even this happy news isnât getting through to him. He needs a shot of whiskey and a good nightâs sleep.
Kihyun pins his Winning Vocalist badge on his jacket, next to his #4 badge. He bows to the judges and thanks them, still numb to everything, then rejoins the other trainees.
Now for the eliminations. The eliminated rapper is ⌠Kwangji. Iâm glad that #GUN is still with us for now. I do feel badly for Kwangji as he turns in his #5 badge and leaves the stage, but he canât be too surprised. He had to know he couldnât beat #GUN.
On to the eliminated vocalist. Shownu, Minhyuk, Wonho, and Yoosu stand in front of the stage. Iâm looking at three members of Monsta X ⌠and Yoosu. He takes it well, turning in his #8 badge and walking away.
The remaining trainees look exhausted. Wonho is crying. The tension of the past few hours must have been overwhelming, and now theyâve seen the first two in their ranks get dismissed.

Soyou reminds the trainees that all of these performances are being broadcast (and in my case, translated on YouTube), so they need to make sure they arenât giving performances that will embarrass them later if they do get to debut. The camera focuses right on Shownu and Minkyun when she says this. Oof. Yes, she has an excellent point, but please let them go home already.
As if she heard me, Soyou wishes them luck and dismisses them. Iâm mentally and emotionally drained after this, so Iâm impressed that the actual trainees donât just collapse and spend the night sprawled out on the stage. Iâm ready to move on.

But the show isnât! No Mercy loves twisting the knife. We now cut to Kwangji and Yoosu, sitting backstage, looking depressed. Jesus Christ, just let them go home. Is it in their contracts that they have to sit there and broadcast their misery to the world? Didnât we see them leaving the building when they were cut? Did you make them come back?
Jooheon sits down to console Kwangji, who says that he had really hoped that they would debut together. Jooheon nods. They all just look about to drop. FINALLY we cut away to the dorm. The trainees shuffle in like Night of the Living Dead. Â They help Kwangji and Yoosu pack their things. Thereâs not a lot of talking. I know this sadness must be a thing in every reality competition show, but this is different. Most of these trainees werenât strangers who met and bonded on the show. Theyâve been friends in the trainee system for years.

Jooheon says heâs going to miss seeing how Yoosu chews his food, so Jooheon is sad. Kwangji and Minhyuk joined Starship together, so Minhyuk is sad. Minkyun regrets how he and Yoosu fought so much when rehearsing for the mission. Minkyun is REALLY sad.
Kwangji says several famous idols told him he was going to be okay and would do fine, including Mad Clown. Really? Mad Clown said that? Make sure #GUN canât hear you.
They all hug and say their goodbyes. In a confessional, Kihyun, still wearing his sailor hat and the deadest eyes this side of a morgue, says he will do his best to make the two eliminated trainees proud. Kihyun, please get some sleep. Youâre going to be the Monsta X mom someday. We need you not to wind up in the hospital. Especially in that hat. Please take off that hat already.
We then move on to the next night. It looks like the trainees have been given a much-needed night off, and they are at a concert. They go backstage where Mad Clown is waiting. Oh goody.

Heâs his usual arrogant self, looking vaguely annoyed and asking if theyâre here to bribe him because heâs a ⌠JUDGE? Wait, has he been a judge all this time?
They ask for his words of wisdom. Mad Clown just tells them to be more aggressive. He says he knows because they are trainees, they want to be polite and not too flashy. But for the competition, they should put that aside.
The trainees leave him to resume whatever he was doing back there, maybe telling schoolchildren over Zoom that they will never amount to anything. Next, they go into another backstage area, where Hyolyn and Jooyoung are waiting. They ask these two for advice. For some reason, Hyolyn brings up that Minhyuk has a crush on Soyou. And suddenly, Soyou appears! Umm ⌠yay? As an introvert, I would probably die of embarrassment right now.

Soyou greets everyone and comments that the number badges are so cruel, and this is the first time I realize that they all still have their number badges pinned to their clothes. No Mercy makes them wear those badges everywhere, 24/7? So even out in public, they still have to go by their numbers, not their names? What kind of messed-up frat hazing is this? To make matters worse, Minhyukâs number is still ELEVEN out of TWELVE, and youâre making him wear that on a night out, in front of his crush?
No Mercy, I am both horrified and amazed. I can only offer my stunned, bewildered, begrudging respect at your meanness. If Iâm being honest, Iâm a little turned on right now.
Hyolyn and Soyou give them generic advice. Teamwork blah blah blah. Do your best blah blah blah. Minhyuk, come back when your number is lower because I donât date anything above a four blah blah blah.
No Mercy is not done embarrassing our boys. Turns out this concert, which the show brought them to, is rated for age twenty or older. Two of our trainees are only nineteen and have to go home. The other trainees all pat them on the butts and make baby sounds as they leave. Sure, put that on camera as well.
Our boys walk away, looking for adventure and whatâs left of their dignity. I hope the members of Blackpink show up on motorcycles and take them away for a night they will have to sign NDAs about.
Back to the concert. This is a showcase of Starship artists. Itâs all fun and bright and K-poppy. The trainees wistfully watch the performances and tell us they want to be a part of the Starship family. They wish they had been able to to do their mission performances on a stage like this. I donât know. Itâs a little too pretty. I miss the Thunderdome.
Moving on. Back to the rehearsal rooms. Shouldnât we be getting new rankings as some point? Looks like not yet. The trainees walk in and see a poster showing them split up into two teams of five. I get chills when I see the first team. Four future members of Monsta X are on the first team: Jooheon, Shownu, Minhyuk, and Hyungwon.

Wonho and Kihyun are on the second team. Our band is slowly coming together!
A womanâs voice calls for their attention, and a TV screen flickers to life. Hyolyn appears. She tells them itâs time to prepare for the third mission. Each team will prepare two songs, one focusing on vocals, and one on dance. One person from the losing team will be eliminated.
In the confessionals, the trainees are sad that another person will be cut. If this were any other survival reality show, Iâd ask them if they knew what show they were on. But I suspect this show didnât tell them how many people would be chosen for the band at the end. The judges are trying to put the right chemistry and talent together, so I believe theyâre figuring it out as they go along. One of my biggest reasons for this opinion is going to come up in Episode 8. Monsta X fans know why I am bringing this up. I will address that soon.
For now, moving on. The trainees gather into their two teams, and right away, the trash talking begins. Iâm just excited to be seeing four Monsta X members on one team. This show had me bummed out just fifteen minutes ago, and now my monbebe heart is happy again.
Team One, with our four future members and âŚÂ (heavy sigh) Minkyun, gather in a separate room. I am watching musical history happen as Hyungwon and Minhyuk tell Shownu theyâve always wanted to work with him. Iâm going to take a break to go squeal into a pillow for a minute.

Iâm back. Where were we?
Jooheon suggests they get to know each other better before choosing a song. Heâs been hanging out more with the rappers, so it makes sense that he doesnât know the other vocalists very well. Minkyun suggests they choose a leader. (shownu shownu shownu I know he botched the last mission but heâs the dad of Monsta X choose him choose him please I need this because this episode has been so sad and mean and please give me this one thing I wonât ask for anything else it will be my birthday and christmas presents for the rest of my life please pick shownu please please please)
THEY PICK SHOWNU! My God, is he actually smiling?

Cut to Team Two. They also decide to choose a leader. (kihyun kihyun kihyun please please please heâs the mom of Monsta X and I need this please choose him I promise I will clean my room and walk the dog what do you mean we donât have a dog well I will get a dog so I can walk it please choose kihyun please please please)
They choose Wonho. Thatâs fine. Heâs Monsta X too. I canât take care of a dog anyway.
Back to Team One. They are trying to choose a song. They discuss âOfficially Missing Youâ by Canadian R&B artist Tamia. Jooheon likes the idea because it feels like a rap song. Minhyuk plays it on his phone. They like it. So do I.
Back to Team Two, also trying to choose a song. #GUN suggests âEmpty,â and the others laugh because itâs a song by his famous rapper cousin Minho. They encourage him to give Minho a shout-out, so he looks into the camera and gives his cousin a personal message. Heâs doing all right and misses him and loves him. This is sweet.
Wonho suggests they pick a challenging song for the vocal portion, since they have Kihyun on their team to back them up. Wonho, Iâm sorry I doubted your leadership skills. The group wants something Christmassy. (This show aired over the holiday season in 2014-2015.) They decide on a carol version of âCaffeineâ by Yang Yo-seob.
The official part of this episode seems to end here. Now we get a post-credits scene. Jooheon is here to shoot a video for the song he recorded last week with Hyolyn and SanE. He looks amazing, and thankfully, they donât make him wear his number badge. Yes, I know heâs Number One. Just give the guy a break.

Cut to Release Day for the song. All the trainees are gathered. Someone checks their phone and sees that the song has already charted at number six.
The song is called âCoach Me.â I looked up the lyrics translated into English, and now I just feel gross.
The other trainees congratulate a beaming Jooheon. Now itâs time to see Kihyun record his song with Soyou and Giriboy, and I just pray itâs called âIâd Like to Meet Your Parents,â or âHere Take My Jacket You Look Cold.â
We cut to Kihyunâs recording session, and I am so happy to see him so happy.

This song is called âPillow.â I looked up those lyrics, and they are sweet and romantic. Kihyun and Jooheon have a bet on which song will do better on the charts.
This may be the only time in my life I bet against Jooheon. Iâm off to take all the showers.

Chiropractor in Langley: Your Guide to Holistic Wellness

When it comes to maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle, many of us often overlook the importance of spinal health. Yet, our spine plays a crucial role in how we move, function, and feel. Chiropractic care is a holistic approach to wellness that focuses on improving the health of your spine and nervous system, ensuring your body is working at its best. If you're living in Langley, you're in luck â there are fantastic options available to you.
In this guide, weâll explore how chiropractic care can be a key component in your journey toward holistic wellness, what you can expect from a Chiropractor Langley BC, and why choosing Langley Chiropractic Therapy Specialists may be the perfect solution for your health concerns.
Understanding Chiropractic Care
Before diving into the specifics of chiropractic care in Langley, itâs essential to understand what chiropractic care is and why it's beneficial. At its core, chiropractic care focuses on the spine and nervous system. Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other treatments to help the body heal itself, without surgery or medication. The idea is that proper alignment of the spine will enable the body to function optimally, potentially preventing and treating pain, discomfort, and other health issues.
Common conditions treated by Chiro in Langley include:
Back pain
Neck pain
Headaches
Sports injuries
Joint pain
Sciatica
Poor posture
A Langley Chiro doesnât just address symptoms; they aim to identify and treat the root cause of your discomfort, promoting long-term health and wellbeing.
Why Chiropractic Care is Holistic
Chiropractic care is considered holistic because it takes into account the entire person, not just one specific symptom or area of pain. Itâs about achieving balance and optimal health through natural, non-invasive methods. By focusing on spinal alignment, chiropractors help enhance the bodyâs ability to heal itself. The benefits of this approach go beyond just relieving physical pain â it can improve your overall quality of life.
In addition to spinal adjustments, many Langley Chiropractic Therapy Specialists offer advice on lifestyle changes, such as diet, exercise, and posture improvements, to help patients achieve a holistic approach to health. This comprehensive care plan helps patients stay healthy and avoid future problems.
What to Expect from a Chiropractic Visit in Langley
Visiting a chiropractor for the first time can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, especially if youâve never been before. However, most patients find the experience to be highly beneficial, and many continue to see their chiropractor regularly for preventive care.
When you visit a Chiropractor Langley BC, your first appointment will likely involve an in-depth consultation. This allows the chiropractor to learn more about your health history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. Some may use X-rays or other diagnostic tools to get a better understanding of your spinal health.
From there, the chiropractor will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This often includes spinal adjustments, which involve quick, controlled force applied to specific areas of the spine. These adjustments are designed to improve spinal alignment and relieve pressure on the nervous system.
Donât be surprised if your chiropractor also recommends exercises or stretches to help improve your posture and overall mobility. The goal is to support your bodyâs healing process and promote lasting wellness.
The Benefits of Seeing a Chiropractor in Langley
Pain Relief: Whether you're dealing with chronic back pain, neck pain, or headaches, chiropractic care can help alleviate these issues by addressing the underlying cause. Many patients experience significant relief after just a few sessions with a Langley Chiro.
Improved Mobility: Regular chiropractic adjustments can help improve your range of motion, making it easier to perform everyday activities and stay active.
Better Posture: Poor posture can lead to a range of health problems, from muscle tension to headaches. A chiropractor can help correct your posture and prevent further issues down the road.
Enhanced Well-Being: Chiropractic care isnât just about treating pain â itâs about improving your overall health. Many patients report feeling more energized, sleeping better, and experiencing less stress after receiving chiropractic care.
Preventative Care: Seeing a Chiropractor in Langley regularly can help prevent future health problems by keeping your spine and nervous system in check. This is especially important if you have a physically demanding job or spend long hours sitting at a desk.
How Chiropractic Care in Langley Supports Holistic Wellness
Holistic wellness means taking a well-rounded approach to health, addressing the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of well-being. Chiropractic care fits seamlessly into this philosophy because it treats the body as a whole, rather than focusing solely on symptoms.
Hereâs how chiropractic care can contribute to your overall wellness:
Physical Health: By improving spinal alignment, chiropractic care helps relieve pain, improve posture, and enhance mobility. This means you can move more freely and feel better in your body, allowing you to engage in physical activities that promote health, such as exercise and sports.
Mental Health: Chronic pain can take a toll on your mental health, leading to stress, anxiety, and even depression. Chiropractic care helps alleviate pain and tension, which can have a positive impact on your mental well-being. Many patients report feeling more relaxed and less stressed after treatment.
Lifestyle: Chiropractors often provide guidance on how to live a healthier lifestyle, from dietary recommendations to exercise plans. This holistic approach ensures that youâre taking care of your body in every aspect, promoting long-term wellness.

I turned 33 this month and Iâve been enjoying my time in Pensacola at Navy Aviation school.
Spending time with my friends reminds me of why I joined and it makes me so happy to see how proud of me they are.
I got to see Celeste one last time before she moves to Germany and it was bittersweet, because I enjoy every moment we spend together but knowing that sheâs leaving makes me sad. I very weary about our future together because she is so damn independent but itâs also one of the many things that makes me love her so much.
But the more I think about it I realize this is what my life will be for the foreseeable future since I am in the Navy. I donât know where Iâm gonna be stationed after my A school is finished and unless/ and even if we get married itâs not like I can bring her everywhere I go (Not saying marriage is a real option at this point). I just keep reminding myself to take it one day at a time and donât repeat any of the past mistakes Iâve made with women Iâve dated and also treat this relationship as something new even though weâve known each other for 10+ years. Honestly I should have pursued this more serious dynamic for our relationship years ago like when I first moved back from Tx but I was scared of being rejected or coming to the realization that weâre just meant to be friends and nothing more, which is kinda funny to me now since I know that no matter what happens sheâs gonna be my friend as long as I donât do something heinous. She makes happy and brings me peace so asking for more than that is me being selfish.
I also got injured this month playing basketball. This has reminded me that Iâm 33 not 23. I have a knee/quad injury which I wonât know the full extent of the damage until I can get an MRI in like 15 days ( I have the exact date written down somewhere) I hate being on crutches and people having to help me do stuff but Iâve found ways to maintain my independence while not doing things that could further injure myself. All that being said I miss hooping so much. The court has always been a place where I could forget about everything else going on in my life and just compete and have fun. I already decided I will hoop again once Iâm back to 100% I just have to be more careful and build my body back up and better than before I got hurt.
All things considered life is good, I have a spectacular woman in my life who blesses me with her attention and affection, I have good friends and shipmates here in A school who respect and appreciate me, and Iâm actively working towards my future which definitely was a problem before I joined the navy. Too many days I felt like I wasnât doing anything to make progress in my life, but now I wake up excited knowing Iâm doing something that will definitely benefit me down the road of life.
