I don't know who needs to read this, but people who are pro Buck and Tommy having a healthy relationship with good representation on screen, whether it goes the distance or not, are not automatically against Eddie having a coming out arc.

Like guys chill the fuck out.

I would argue that 7x05 had too many storylines and felt rushed. I'd honestly rather have fewer stories an Episode and each is given proper time (so they don't skip over shit like Buck and Eddie talking post basket ball, or Chim and Buck talking post punch, or Bobby and Athena talking post ship disaster etc). They actually showed the Karen and Hen talks after the Eva storylines and that's so important and good.

Tommy isn't getting screen time without a main with him so stop pretending he is. He's a background character who is currently there to prop up other people's storylines. It's unlikely he will ever be a main as they already have 7 of them. Can you think if you've ever seen a Karen or a Ravi or a Lucy or a Taylor storyline that wasn't there to really be about one of the mains? No.

I am literally seeing BuckTommy enjoyers having to fucking preface their posts with the fact they obviously ship buddie too just so they don't get abused. It's genuinely disgusting that people are more fixated on their specific (and I would defo class it as fetishistic at this point with the obsession some people have with buddie) ship that they would actively damage other people's enjoyment of the show.

This accusation that people don't care bout buddie anymore because Tommy has kissed Buck and Tommy is white is fucking insane. This fandom regularly accuses anyone who says good things about Buck or Bobby of being racist. Maybe, and hear me out, people are happy that they are getting some bi representation? People who have been pro buddie since 2x01 are getting sent hate because they are happy that a character has come out, despite never turning against buddie.

It's literally normal to be watching a show and be like "yes, I want characters X & Y to end up together but currently they aren't and that's not an issue for me". It's a fictional show.

I want Eddie to get a coming out story line and I would not be upset if it didn't revolve around Buck because 1. Eddie is his own person, and 2. I KNOW that if it did revolve around Buck, you guys would immidiately say it's worthless because it's not an Eddie story but actually a story about the "white boy". Like you literally cannot have it both ways.

You can't beg for coming out story lines and then say "wait that's the wrong person they're kissing." It's a coming out story line. It's literally a gateway to a whole new world of stories in the show.

Chill out, go outside, maybe try to enjoy the show you claim to love instead of shitting on it, the actors and the other fans

A Defense of Benny Gecko

Benny is more of a capable leader and person than people give him credit for.

Seeing as no one challenged his position as head Chairmen for 7 years and even then he only loses the position if he’s caught, killed or forced to leave. Yes, it’s also likely House wouldn’t have allowed him to be killed but he sure as hell would of found a way to remove him if he was causing too much unrest within The Tops power structure. Even Swank and Tommy don’t outright dislike him and more so are concerned with his recent secretive and shady behavior, emphasis on recent.

Taking all we know into consideration, Benny likely knew the future direction that he wanted to take Vegas but was so caught up in the plans to acquire Vegas that he didn’t think of how to make his dream a reality. Something he admits to in canon. I see this being used as the main argument that Benny doesn’t know what he’s doing at all but I see it more in the same vein as you can’t really plan something from nothing. The transformation of Vegas is a sensitive thing that he can’t really work on until he has it. The only reason he ran to the Fort prematurely is the Courier who was causing so much of a stir he would’ve likely been found out much faster, making all that planning for nothing if he didn’t take that chance.

Benny is careful (well a lot more careful than he is regularly depicted in fanon), the Courier being able to trace him was dumb luck on their part and his hair being noticed at the Fort is a realistically small oversight that even Caesar is disappointed in because he admits Benny got farther than he should’ve been allowed by his legionaries. The fact he can plan an ambush on the Courier or tries to quickly and concisely clean up lose ends that don’t lead back to him shows he’s not just acting on impulses or in the moment decisions. Or rather he’s quite good at thinking them out, whether they work depends on how you play really. This is all to say it’s 100% believable that Benny could lead an independent Vegas (house was basically setting him up to do that). If he had known explicitly that House was setting him up to replace him, he likely would’ve bought more time by getting in closer, learning more of the system to then flip House’s edge to his favor. Again something he was doing already but likely without the knowledge of House’s feelings on him personally.

No matter what, Vegas’ future was tied to Benny; House’s plans for him, having to get the chip and if he had somehow succeeded. It’s also interesting that of all the people vying for control of the dam/Vegas, Benny’s plans are the only ones actually oriented towards a new future, not a recreation of something long past.

Character bingo: Amrit Doobay

Oof okay upon further inspection I have some additional thoughts:

Canonically, I hate him. He’s sexist, homophobic, just really creepy overall (specifically re: undressing Amala without her consent like you don’t own her!! Stay MILES away from my girl). It does send a message that Remy made the the only dark skinned LI in this book super toxic/gross, but I don’t have time to get into that whole mess in this not nuanced post. My main opinion on Amrit can be boiled down to he’s an interesting morally gray LI, but Remy crossed the line with him, making him feel uncomfortable to romance (at least in comparison to other red flag LIs)

I despite this guy, but I will admit that there are interesting parts to his character. For instance, and this is a general Doobay trait, but his loyalty towards the people he truly loves is something I really like about his character and wish could have been explored more

That line about not having the right to be weak actually tells us a lot about him. It shows that his definition of strength is about asserting dominance, and that he doesn’t tolerate those who show weakness because he wasn’t allowed to. Obviously, he was raised with a lot of pressure I blame everything on Raj because he’s doing twice the work with half of the help leading the Dozen. To me, it makes sense why he put all of his eggs into one basket and does everything he could to drag Amala back to her home country. The way he talks about his childhood so nonchalantly shows how he was forced to suppress his trauma too which is uhhh not a great coping mechanism. I mean he even acknowledges that Amala and Kiran are lucky to be able to depend on each other without the threat of being stabbed in the back, so it makes sense that his character is lonely

I’m not defending him because again, I think he’s a pathetic, arrogant, and bigoted loser but like with other parts of this book he could have been more well liked if he was written better. You know how in S1 he was shown to be respectful but cold (I don’t know how to explain what his fake persona was like)? That’s who he should have stayed as instead of becoming a bratty creep whose actions are forgiven by the plot

Hello my angel!!! I don’t think I’ve talked about Cheating at Bingo in a loooooong time, so this should be fun! Thank you for asking 💖💖

I’ll talk about one real scene and one scene that didn’t end up happening:

1. The bingo scene actually wasn’t in the original plan

In the beginning, when I was still figuring out what role Celeste was going to play in this fic, I didn’t even have bingo on the radar.

I pictured Celeste going out to lunch with Rita — some regularly scheduled thing, so Charles wouldn’t bat an eye — without telling him that Max would be there. Basically, she was going to set Max and Charles up on a surprise date by kicking them to their own table, just like she did during bingo night.

I didn’t end up going with this plan for two reasons. First, I thought it would be harder to write a conversation that was interesting and natural without some sort of… outside activity. Just sitting in a restaurant can be kind of boring if you don’t already have a rapport with the other character (see: the opening scene lol). Secondly, I didn’t think Celeste — for all her scheming — would want to ambush Charles like that. Something about it felt more mean-spirited than her other antics.

In the end, I loved the bingo scene. It was a really fun way to show some other sides of their personalities and make them feel more well-rounded.

2. I wanted to write their ice skating date

In my outline that I wrote… halfway through the fic (leave me alone, I was struggling). Here’s that:

Charles wasn’t meant to invite Max over for Christmas during the Christmas tree decorating, mostly because the Christmas tree decorating scene was meant to happen earlier in December (per this timeline). After sitting on it for a bit, I realized that the ice skating date would feel…. Redundant after the Christmas tree farm “”date””.

Obviously, I moved things around. The sappy Christmas tradition between Charles’s grandparents was entirely unplanned — that just came to me while I was writing. It’s loosely based on a part of my real life (my step mother loves holiday crystals), but otherwise it was just a stroke on inspiration!!

I’m glad I took it the direction I did. I think the symbolism in that scene (max holding the crystals, hanging The Wedding Bells, etc all feels so intimate and lovely).

3. The final time skip scene was written moments before I hit post

I finished writing this fic at night, and told myself I’d post it first thing in the morning. After giving it a cursory reread, I realized it just felt… off. Something about it wasn’t giving hallmark to the utmost degree, and I would not let that stand.

It, again, was an unplanned moment of inspiration. After looking back at the above outline, I realized I could still sneak in the “what the fuck was our first date??” conversation, which I loved. For such a Charles-centric fic, I wanted to slip in moments where it was clear that Max was just as infatuated with him — and thinking you were on an unspoken date, being that optimistic? Yeah, that’s exactly what I needed.

I actually hadn’t reread this fic since I posted it, I’m really pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Thank you for the ask darling 💖💖
