I was just thinking about requesting head canons about the bachelor's with a reader who speaks another language (and honestly, my personal headcanon is that elvish sound like gaeilge/Irish) and the Zevlor headcanon that was just posted convinced me to send it. So here it is. What do the boys think of a partner that speaks another, non common, language?

Personally I love hearing fantasy languages, Tolkien's elvish and it's portrayal in LOTR come to mind. That was definitely something on my mind while writing this, and even if I didn't specify I definitely wrote this with the idea of the reader speaking some form of elvish or celestial in mind. For anyone wondering, the Zevlor headcanon mentioned in the ask would be the 'accidental turn ons for the bachelors' <3

Dammon

So, I feel like all the tieflings have at least a basic understanding of infernal, Dammon included

He loves calling you by pet names and endearments in infernal

The day you do the same but in a non-common language is the day this man simply passes away from happiness

He completely paused the first time he hears it, before teasingly asking what else you're hiding from him

Dammon loves hearing you speaking another language casually, just like how he speaks bits and pieces of infernal

Over time he starts to pick up on translations of the things you say and will sometimes respond in infernal as a joke

Other people get very confused when they see you two speaking completely different languages to each other, especially if he explains neither of you actually know the other language

Dammon does it specifically to confuse people, sometimes he also says it's a special language for you two

He loves listening to you and could happily do it for hours

Zevlor

Not going to beat around the bush, Zevlor is extremely turned on every time he hears you speak another language

It just fuels something in him, he doesn't even really know the specifics, just that he finds it incredibly attractive

You can tell his full undivided attention is on you every time you're speaking something other than common

If you really want to tease him, lean in behind him and murmur something in his ear

His breath audibly hitches and his whole body does a system reboot right in front of you

Zevlor will absolutely encourage you to speak in another language around him, and picks up on translations quite easily

You'll even hear him saying the occasional word in the language too, the little smile he gives you afterwards is just too sweet

Over time he calms down a bit more, but hearing you never quite loses it's spark

It's always something Zevlor is going to be drawn to

Rolan

Rolan drops something the first time he hears you speaking a different language, it's probably a book that finds itself on the floor

I feel like he'd be pretty fluent in infernal, this man is incredibly smart and is always learning

He's shocked and intrigued when you speak a second language though

As much as he doesn't want to admit it at first, he'd love for you to teach him how to speak the language

In return he'd happily teach you infernal, and Rolans actually a very good teacher

In the end I can see him having some sort of schedule so you can both learn the new language

He insists on learning through exposure too, so common ends up becoming a rarely spoken language between you both

Cal and Lia have a ball of a time teasing you both, in return Rolan will talk to you only in a language they don't understand while around them

He really loves getting to hear you talk in another language, and hearing you teach it is even better

heeseung - when he first sees it he’s in shock, (internally) because all he says outside is like “you look nice” which lowkey hurts your feelings because like does he think you look ugly or sum?? 🤨🤨 but like he doesn’t want to be teased by you because he thinks your so cute!! like he can’t stop looking at you and he thinks he’s discreet about it (but he’s not) so you confront him about it and he finally admits that he thinks you are the cutest, prettiest person alive and he keeps like pinching your cheek.

jay - hes the one that helped you pick your glasses out. so when you grab the one and put it on he knows it’s the cutest one on you, he steals the glasses from your hand and asks for those frames with your prescription. while you wait for them to be ready it’s all he can think about honestly. like he could be in the middle of working and think “y/n with glasses is so cute 🥰🥰” like this sounds really unrealistic but I DONT CARE 😜😜 and when u get the glasses he’s more excited than you! he quickly takes a photo of you with the glasses so he can put it as his lock screen and he looks at it and smiles every time ☹️☹️

jake - hes actually like jumping once he sees you, he like cups your face and looks into your eyes because he thinks youre so pretty :( he cannot get enough if you bro. and he’s so clingy afterwards like he can’t be away from you! also he like steals your glasses to put them on and like poses for you like “do i look good y/n? maybe i should get glasses” and he tells everyone he knows about them like “did you know y/n got glasses!?” UGH I LOVE THIS MAN.

sunghoon - he teases you for it, like he calls u four eyes and everything. but he doesn’t think you notice his lingering stares or him hugging you more often but you do. the thing is he’s too shy to upright tell you the glasses look so cute on you, so he does the opposite and teases you about them. he finally breaks his mask when you pretend to be sad because you think he doesn’t like them and he showers you in compliments and explains himself, to find out it was a prank 😠😠, he tickles you until you sincerely apologise.

sunoo - once he sees you, he fr starts squealing bro, like “ahhh y/nnie! you’re soo cute!! i’m going to die!!” and like kisses your cheek a bunch :((. he takes a selfie w/ you immediately and puts it as his wallpaper :(. he sometimes accidentally touches the lenses of your glasses and you get (jokingly) mad at him and he’s like “y/n-ah im sorry ☹️☹️” and you HAVE to forgive him bc he’s so cute!!

jungwon - when you walk in he literally starts blushing. like you? in GLASSES??? he just stares at you until you’re like “what? is it bad?” and he’s like “no not at all babe, you look so gorgeous!” and he thinks you HAVE to show him what you can see now so he makes you try to read a book from far away and you’re like “jungwon i can’t see that! i don’t think anyone can 😠😠” and he just giggles and moves it farther until you start laughing with him :)

niki - similar to sunghoon he has to tease you like he calls you a nerd and also calls you four eyes. especially if you’re like a reader he teases you to the max! like “can’t believe i’m dating a nerd 🙄🙄” and you’re like 😐. he also like takes you’re glasses and is like “y/n what number is this?” and he puts his hand in front of you like right in your face thinking you can’t see that? (obvi he knows but as a joke) and you’re like “niki be fr” and he rolls his eyes and goes back to whatever he’s doing. but when you aren’t paying attention, he takes a picture of you reading and puts it in his home screen as a widget.

I watched two TOS episodes recently, Metamorphosis and Wolf in the Fold. Both were interesting, neither was awful, but I can see the reason people who have seen this kind of episode calling the show misogynistic.

I disagree, because our heroes never for a second hate women, but both episodes are extremely gender essentialist, and the women lack agency almost entirely.

First: Metamorphosis.

This is the one where they find Zefram Cochrane and he's being kept forever by a cloud creature called the Companion.

In a shocking twist, we find out that the Companion is a girl. This changes everything apparently:

KIRK: Feminine. No doubt about it.

SPOCK: Yes. The matter of gender could change the entire situation.

KIRK: I'm way ahead of you.

SPOCK: Then it is not a zookeeper.

KIRK: No. A lover.

How can a cloud be a girl? Well, gender (and heterosexuality) is a constant of the universe it seems.

COCHRANE: Captain, why did you build that translator with a feminine voice?

KIRK: We didn't.

COCHRANE: But I heard—

KIRK: The idea of male and female are universal constants, Cochrane. There's no doubt about it. The Companion is female.

The assumption that every species has those two genders and is always heterosexual is bad enough. But beyond that, unspoken, is the idea that falling in love is what women do, that if a woman is on screen it is safe to assume that it's because of a romantic situation. Why couldn't the woman still be a zookeeper? Or maybe have maternal emotions? Or want to be friends?

The complete absorption of a female character is glossed over. She's not dead, anyway, and some other lady can do her old job. Byyyye!

So. The idea was interesting but the execution left much to be desired.

Next was Wolf in the Fold. I skipped it last time I was watching because it didn't sound very good. And I was right! It's not.

First off, the male gaze is.... noticeable.

It's not as bad as it could've been. This lady appears to be doing this for fun, and she's happy to leave with Scotty. It's just that the society is very free and sensual. Okay.

The other weird thing is that Bones and Kirk say that they're setting this up for Scotty, to cure his irrational hatred of women, because it happened to be a woman who caused him to be injured recently. So really, it's medicinal. At first it sounds like they're joking, but then the log says the same?

Either way, I don't really care for the scene. It feels like the woman exists to be pretty and presumably to sleep with Scotty, and then, of course, to be killed.

The plot here is that something is killing a lot of women, and Scotty is suspected, but [spoiler] turns out it's another cloud creature. It feeds on fear, and therefore preys on women because they have "more fear." A lot of unsolved murders of women throughout history turn out to be because of this thing.

It feels like it glosses over all the actual reasons women are so often targeted for crime, with gender essentialism again.

So, on the "women are real characters with agency" scale, these two episodes fail. Women are the problem, which the male characters solve.

That said, I don't think either one does much to support the accusation that Kirk is a misogynist. In both cases, it's the situation that's the problem, the world itself. Could he call it out better? Sure. But he does help the Companion get her man, and he does catch the woman-killing creature, so that's nice.

Then he heads off to a café where "the women are so—"

We never get to hear what the women at the café are like, except that it's clearly something sexy, given Spock's lack of interest. I don't think it's wrong to like to look at pretty women—I also like to look at pretty women—but it still feels pretty scuzzy the way it's depicted. As if the women were a product available at the café rather than people they might meet there.

So. I can sure see why these episodes weren't on the lists of "best of TOS" that guided me on my first watch through.

ok so it's time to say a couple of things about Detour (probably in my top 10? i don't know at this point there's so many i love with my entire heart).

i like where they decided to put this episode, it's the first time we see scully working again after cancer arc. i don't know if this is the reason about it but skinner decides to do the funniest thing he can with these two: sending them to a COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP to do team building excercises.

the first time we see them they're in a car with another couple of agents. the scene tends to remark the lack of communication m&s have (it's a common thing to think while watching txf, and i'm also pretty sure people were saying this kind of things back in the days when the show was airing), but i don't feel like i totally agree with this view.

of course they don't talk, they don’t express their feelings to one another (every nature of feeling they might be having), but they have a way of circling around the other one as if they were each other's asteroids. they're always close to one another, when one of them is looking for clues or something, you can see the other one is right behind, a few steps back, ready to intervene if they're asked to. and when they loose track of the other one the first thing they do is screaming each other's names like crazy. it's pretty clear that both of them fear loosing the other one more that anything else.

so it's really funny to me that mulder seems the most annoyed by what they're going to do (and who they're going to do it with) — but i think scully's on the same page, she's just good at hiding it. and when the other agent says "communication, that's the key!", they share a moment when they briefly look at each other and than look away.

i think this may be read as embarrassment, like "oh no people found out we don't speak", but i don't think that's the case, they look more resigned than embarrassed. it’s more of a “oh no what did they put us into this time”.

when i started watching season 3 i noticed a shift in how they communicate (here!) i was just at the beginning and i didn't know what was ahead of me, but in a way it's still true. i feel like season 3 really changed the way they move around each other and communicate, and we can particularly see it in episodes like syzygy and wetwired (centered around incommunicability, both with a strong supernatural component. they really feel lost in translation in these ones).

after they get out of the car, scully follows mulder and find him looking at the case they stumbled on. this is obviously an amazing excuse not to attend their conference. this is their conversation:

SCULLY: Mulder, we've got this conference. They're waiting. MULDER: Yeah. How do I say this without using any negative words, Scully? SCULLY: You want me to tell them you're not going to make it to this year's seminar. MULDER: You see? We don't need that conference. We have communication like that - unspoken. You know what I'm thinking.

what i love about this exchange is that scully's biggest insicurity while working with mulder is feeling left behind by him. in more than one episode she tells him she feels like him was ditching her. and you can notice it here by how she phrases it: “you want me to tell them you're not going", but mulder’s like "we don't need that". it's a way of including her in the decision of not going, but at the same time it shows some mechanisms of their microcosm. he can find an excuse cause he knows she's feeling the same way about it, she's just too polite to say she doesn't wanna go. he just knows.

and then we have the sweetest sequence of the whole episode. mulder's reading stuff about animals on his computer and scully knocks on the door. i feel like in this scene they've switched roles: usually scully's the one focused on work while mulder storms in her motel room with the intention of talking about work and drops the silliest joke his mind can think of. in here he's the one doing the work, and scully's coming in with cheese and wine.

and she's the one that says "I must remind you this goes against the Bureau's policy of male and female agents consorting in the same motel room" HELLO??? she's making jokes now?? but apart from that it's really heartwarming to see her like this: just purely happy to be back, healthy, working with mulder. & when he goes investigating and she realises he was not finding an excuse not to go to the conference but really is interested in what they stumbled upon, she's not even mad or disappointed, she takes a little sip of wine and she's in the case with him.

this is not supposed to be a full analysis so i'm jumping to THE scene. they're alone in the forest, they know nothing about the forest (something similar had happened in Quagmire when they got stuck on a rock, they were so dramatic about it but the coast was just 10 ft apart lol). mulder is hurt and scully is taking care of him, hugging him to keep him warm and letting him sleep. we have another switched roles situation here. mulder has always been by her side, slightly touching her back or her arms, keeping her close. but during the cancer arc physical touch really came through as his love language: he’s hugging her much more, he’s squeezing her hands, he’s even kissing her on the cheeks. after what she’s been through she’s strong enough not to fall asleep during the night, to keep him warm and to look for food the morning after.

+ i love how throuout the episode they keep making jokes related to their collegues, the conference, the communication workshops. like THEY'RE INSUFFERABLE. mulder is always like that but it's also lovely so see scully smile at everything he's saying about it.

this doesn’t really end cause i had a crazy stream of consciousness while writing it, but i hope at least something is understandable.

then another will jump on your lap and ask for your love and affection (just begging you to pet them :D)

and one will constantly meow behind you, already on the bed, so you can take a good nap

when you do get to nap with all of minho’s cats on his bed, he always arrives at the wrong time, apparently

you’re asleep! but he cannot help but feel butterflies in his stomach because you look so cute napping with his beloved kitties :’>

as you instructed him before, he’ll wake you up once you reach your time limit

then he’ll join you to study once you’re back at his desk! :D

minho will definitely pet the cats beside you when you’re endlessly typing on your laptop

just so he can look after you because he does not want you to lose track of his so-called “healthy study session” for you

he’ll definitely scold you when he’ll hear your stomach growling in the middle of the night

because “how can you study with no source of energy?!?!”

he always reminds you to not overwork and don’t pass your limits

when you want to take a longer snooze (especially when it shows from your constant yawning and eye rubbing), he will not hesitate to bring all of your materials to the couch outside of his room

and drag you to his bed!!!!! so he can cuddle you all night and whisper all of his manifestations for your good results in school!!! he believes you will ace the exam, and you did so perfectly in all of your tasks!!!

☆ CHANGBIN

oh when you ask him to accompany you to the library

he’ll drop all of his things and find you in an instant!

changbin will take your studies seriously as if he’s the one studying :p 

a strict but loving kinda person

he’ll not hesitate to scold you if he sees you sidetracking! lmao </3

but he wouldn’t do that when he knows you’re taking a break

when you feel a little disoriented or frustrated, changbin will give you energy with his powerful hugs!

“my hugs are proven to give you a better mood and more motivation to do whatever you want!!!”

“what if i don’t want to study anymore?”

“that is not included, alright?!”

(he didn’t lie about his hugs making you feel better and energetic again tho ;D there was an immediate effect right when he hugged you tightly for a solid minute)

he does serve as a distraction sometimes because he will lovingly stare at you when he’s at the peak of feeling bored

but when he is dealing with something, changbin will unintentionally bother you by making noises

in conclusion, he gives you a realistic feel of what being a student is

it makes you reassured‌… that how you’re facing academics is considerably normal?

even if changbin did promise you he’ll make sure you’re doing well, it seems like he’s the one who needs some guidance

when he’s aware that he’s not tracking you that frequently anymore, he stops what he’s doing and goes back to staring at you with heart eyes

“how are you doing?” and some good sliding of his water jug on the table to you because you can’t be dehydrated!

he steals your notebook of reminders and asks you if any of the pending deadlines and exams listed should be crossed out already

changbin will drag you out of the library when you have crossed enough pending tasks in your notebook! and take you on a scrumptious dinner date because he knows you deserve it for all the work you’ve done :>

will always pay for your dinner, even if you’re willing to pay

and will probably baby you when he discovers you finished all of your work

“aww let’s order another plate of that food we ordered! you need more good food after that exhausting study time!”

☆ HYUNJIN

hyunjin is one worried baby when you tell him you’re in “super study mode”

you refuse to believe that your boyfriend is behaving like a mother

he will visit you and shower you with so much love

it’s like… he wants to lessen your worries :’<

he is willing to do all the chores so you can study without interruptions!!! 

he is also willing to feed you so you don’t have to get out of your seat!!!

hyunjin will always be on the go when you need something

his hugs and kisses? he will drag you to your bed and give you some!

his words of encouragement? he has prepared a long list in his head to give you more determination to finish your work!

will never get out of mom mode until you’re done

whenever you update him on your progress, he always congratulates you as if you won a life-changing award

“i am so proud of you!! :DDD” and clapping loudly

that’s because he knows how grueling studying is, and you should be congratulated for being hardworking

he loves to see you snort and laugh at his antics, even if they’re very exaggerated

and he moves and acts exaggeratingly just so you don’t have any direct source of the negative atmosphere

when he notices that you’re slowly sighing heavier than the previous one, he rushes to your side and looks after you literally

he will endlessly peck your face and stroke your hands with his thumbs

“you are doing so well! don’t say that you barely did anything today! you did so much already and i saw all of it!”

if hyunjin thinks you’ve done so much already, he’ll tell you to stop and invite you to take a walk outside with him

it’s a win-win situation because you get to relax by looking at the view of the park and hyunjin can capture beautiful photos and find inspiration for his paintings :DDD 

plus, that’s the perfect time for hyunjin to lighten up your mood

That guy, honestly.. I remember giving him some thoughts and analysis that I am still proud of even back in time before I was aware of finer details and translation errors. He felt like someone very real and full of nuances even in my "sounds like creep" era, and then first character I wrote a good analysis on! I take credit for popularising the knowledge about English localisation completely skewing him, because despite LP's document being in access for years nobody fished out THOSE details from it until me!! It took deliberate searching with the purpose of learning THE character!!!! 😎

I'd actually say that anyone can make really unique headcanons and interpretations! My secret is actually to minimise exposure to the takes in the fandom until I've came up with my idea to offer! It helps me to jump into a metaphorical pillowfort with @val-of-the-north when a character or a question interests us and brainstorm the ideas; I do the suggestions, intuition, right questions and imagination part, whereas he does finding the most obscure gameplay consequences, finds obscure images from the furthest corners of the internet and remembers literally every detail that could help or debunk like a supercomputer! *sets the 'days since praising Val on public' counter back to 0 AGAIN fhsdhds*

THEN I hop on Tumblr and offer my idea and look what other people say (with rare exceptions about smaller things). Key word is, 'THEN'! I've met many people who were shocked when I informed them that what they assumed was canon in fact was just a popular fanon! Many people make the same mistake: they see many people doing [thing] and just assume it has to be legit then and never double check for selves! This ensures less variety of interpretations with all (designs, ships, story, portrayals and takes) which is a bit disheartening! Just remember to 1) look at the source material with clear eyes, only consulting wikis and reference videos, for example to know about questline or item you've missed 2) communicate with the fandom about a topic when you DO have your own idea already, this will me mutually enriching for both and 3) never simply take majority's word as canon! And then you will be like me! x)

currently that would probably be sichen because i love angsty guys with blood on their hands. i don't have much art for him yet tho because he's fairly new and i'm still figuring him out, so its just this so far i think.

some physical notes: one of his ears is gone, you can still see the remnants a bit from the side view, but not much from the front. he does not have an eye color and he does not show his eyes. if he flips his hair back? no he didn't. but if he does, a bird will fly by to cover them. or an avalanche will occur, or everyone will sneeze. his eyes do not get revealed, even if physics must be broken to keep them hidden.

he is. Up To Things. and a menace. and he won't stop betraying people, but i love him dearly. and he would probably not even care about that at all.

in terms of all-time though (which i know you didn't ask but. i take any opportunity to talk about him), that would be beltran. i think he's my prettiest guy ever and i'm noticing a trend between him and sichen and that's the fact that they are both consumed by an obsession that has taken over their entire life and become their reason to live.

for sichen, that obsession is originally around resurrecting someone he loves, but then it turns into revenge :)

for beltran, he is consumed by a need to find out about the past, and his ancestors place in it. his family swore themselves to serve someone, but then that person disappeared. it's been hundreds of years, but he wants to find that person no matter what.

people also often misunderstand beltran as evil i guess from vibes but he is not! he has been consumed by the ancient texts, yes, that is true, but he is really sweet. he is kind of a dick though when it matters. but in terms of overall morality he is a good guy.

beltran also can turn into a wolf but it makes him very sick and his girlfriend gets extremely worried so he doesn't do it unless its a life or death situation. if he does it too much he will die (not joking)

beltran i attempted to make in a picrew!! he is probably one of my worst picrew characters just because of the blue-black + two-tone hair and purple eyes. it's so hard to get a picrew that actually has stuff with the right shades

he is very heavily associated with the night, and the stars, he's someone you find in the hallways of the manor after dark, and you see him as a strange figure in the moonlight being cast through a stained glass window. when he's feeling well, he's in the library or the study, pouring over a stack of tattered scrolls, his wispy sleeves pulled up to keep them out of the ink which he scrawls his notes in, translating language after language. he is someone who keeps trying to work even when his body is falling apart, and the eyes of his loved ones fill with worry, but he is chained to the things he must know, and they drag him deeper into the abyss. "i'm so close to finding it." he'll mumble, the dark circles under his eyes taking more of the light from his face every day, as karina tries to get him to rest, reassuring him that there will be time tomorrow, and that it will all be easier once he's been able to sleep. watch him, he is a ghost already, he will not answer when someone says goodbye. "this is what i've been looking for." he whispers, reaching out. his fingers will run against rocks that haven't been seen in a thousand years, tracing the inscriptions that say he was right all along. and he'll see the person he's been searching for. it's finally his turn to live.

csm chapter 120 but in toki pona (first 10 pages)

alright hellooo!!!! this is my first published translation in 2024 i guess!

of course i'm marketing this towards english speakers since i'm not sure if there actually is a part of the csm fandom that speaks toki pona... i hope you'll stick around to see something a little fun and different!

so if you don't know what toki pona is, allow me to explain! ☝️🤓 toki pona is a conlang created by Sonja Lang where the main draw of it is that it has less than 200 words! it sounds like it may be tricky to speak with so few words, but it's surprisingly easy and very fun! i always recommend it to anyone who has a bit of time on their hands and wants to try something new.

here i was mostly trying out gimp for comic translations, and so i translated the first 10 pages of chapter 120! i chose this because... it's silly! also fun fact, the start of this chapter was one of the things that pushed me to read chainsaw man!

ok that's enough preface rambling, let's get on with it!

i think typically the first page should be full sized if it has to, but nayuta peace sign is just so cute..!

nayuta: HAHAHAHAHAHA!! yoru: woof woof! wooof!! denji: Nayuta! what did you do?! nayuta: i turned her into an animal. denji: why?!?! nayuta: because she [kissed] my thing! (here she basically says that yoru interacted with nayuta's thing using her mouth. it's a very vague statement)

denji: i'm not your thing! turn her into a human now!! nayuta: want food! can't! (technically she says "food desire! no ability!") nuh uh! denji: ah?! i'll make food. when you eat turn her into a human!! nayuta: 'kay!

denji: eat and turn her into a human. i'm not joking. nayuta: hey! this is my food! bad! bad!! nayuta: hey... do you really want her humanity? (sounds very weird in english but i'm not sure a better way to put it) denji: what?

nayuta: Denji. every woman tries to kill you, right? why is this animal different? denji: why...? i have a feeling. nayuta: hmmmm.... good. (this is being used as an affirmation similar to "alright" or "very well then") you won't die. okay. i'll turn her into a human.

nayuta: but, two things. if they're not good to you, then she'll be an animal forever. denji: what are they?! nayuta: number one. i can eat ice cream (cold sweet) all the time. denji: i want (it) too. nayuta: number two.

nayuta: don't be nice to her. denji: are you joking?! nayuta: uh, i'm (being) real. this is the best. she's bad to my nose. denji: your nose?

denji: is she like a wet animal? nayuta: weirdo, wet animals are good! anyways, don't be nice to her! i'll change her knowledge... so that to her you didn't come (today)! denji: you'll what?! then she'll hate me!

nayuta: not important. you won't talk to her. denji: ahhh...

denji: you're number one, nayuta...

tadaaaa! there we have it! now time for some translator notes, of which there are actually not a ton.

toki pona is surprisingly difficult to adapt for different kinds of characters. due to having no register, it's hard to make characters seem more punky or polite than normal, and to distinguish between adult and child characters. here particularly we have the issue that, while Nayuta is a child, she's also super smart! so making grammatical mistakes doesn't really seem in line for her character. the main action i took was doubling up "la" with her. this isn't incorrect, but there are more optimal ways to say things to avoid ambiguity. i thought that perhaps a kid wouldn't think ahead with their words as much as an adult would, and may end up with this quirk in their speech.

related to the last note, one possible way of making a character seem younger or less proper is having them use nimisin ("unofficial" community made words). it's a fun idea, but it's kinda inaccessible and also... i don't really know nimisin! guess i'm not hip enough >_<

the name Nayuta luckily fits with toki pona phonetics (with the y changed to a j)! Denji doesn't quite, so i opted for Tensi. this is the most direct tokiponisation of his name. it sounds a bit like tenshi! (angel in japanese)

just a little something. i went with humans being "jan" and devils "monsuta" (hybrids and fiends may be jan monsuta and monsuta jan respectively, or they could have nimisin) so.. why are these two using jan? well for Denji that's an easier question, as he is basically human-first and also had the name before he became a hybrid. (also there's no need to be so descriptive with a headnoun) as for Nayuta, she uses jan because she's sort of undercover. depending on the circumstances, or when referring to her with her real name (like saying Control Devil in english) she would be monsuta. some devils who gave themself a name use jan, while others such as Power use monsuta (because why would she call herself a human when devils are clearly superior?!)

suwi lete or lete suwi? that is the question. here i decided to go with suwi lete because i think the most appealing aspect to Nayuta is likely the sweetness!

i hope this was at least somewhat enjoyable! i wonder what i'll find to translate next >w> thank you so much for reading if you did! sina lukin la mi pilin pona a!

Tagger's OC: Mashal Darezsho is a towering robot man with bronze plating, a human looking face, and baggy clothes. He is incredibly strong and fights with a sword. As a person, he's kind and honorable, even knightly, and enjoys nothing more than helping people in need. He loves listening to folk talk and takes pleasure in the simple beauty of the world, translating this to sketch art. He is quite orderly. His main issue is that he has a strong sense of right and wrong, but he also extends his morality to others, making choices for them whether they asked for it or not. In addition, he tends to be rather naive due to his inclination towards seeing the best in people. Sometimes, this works out and he helps people to become a better version of themselves. Other times, not so much. However, beneath all this is a hidden violent streak. Mashal doesn't remember his past. He doesn't remember how he came to be broken on the side of the road. All he knows is that there is someone out there he must kill, and that anything magic-adjacent causes something deep within him to freeze with horror and rage. He tries not to give in to this dark current, to remain honorable and helpful, but every so often, he slips up.

My OC: Jarsali Fortus is an Ilunian Tinker with red-blonde hair, pale violet eyes, a creative streak, a sense of humor and a big stick to wack people with. She forges strong bonds with those she trusts, and if that trust is broken there is little hope of forgiveness. She wants nothing more than to build a world where Mages are as widely accepted as where she grew up, but she has to settle with helping Mages on the run. She is good with her hands, always working on one new project or another. A Storm Mage, she has the ability to change the weather and generate lightning, something she makes use of in combat or with her clockwork inventions. Because of this, she doesn't carry around metal objects. Sometimes she wishes that her eyes weren't such an unusual color, it's the second-most-obvious giveaway that she's a Mage (the first being altered hair color, although that's incredibly rare). She hides a lot of trauma behind her usually sunny and joking demeanor, and prefers to bottle up any negative emotions (side effect of being an eldest daughter). Most of those emotions are guilt over something she had no control over. Naturally, keeping such a tight rein on her emotions has caused them to burst out, producing unexpected, electric results.

Interaction: I can tell you right away that Jarsali would be all over Mashal, trying to figure out how he works and if she could replicate it (unlikely). She would back off if he expressed discomfort, but she would still probably pepper him with questions. Poor guy. She also knows someone who also doesn't remember his past, so she might not be able to relate to him but she'd suggest some tricks that helped her friend instead (might not work, but it's the thought that counts, right?). Curiosity aside, I think they would bond over having creative minds and strong moral codes. Finally, Jarsali would be careful to not use her powers around Mashal, even in combat situations, because bronze is a really good conductor and she doesn't want to risk accidentally killing him with a lightning strike. This may or may not work, due to the aforementioned unhealthy emotional coping mechanisms. If that issue ever comes up, who knows, they may bond over that too! (and/or find better ones together)

YOU LITERALLY CAPTURE THEM PERFECTLY!!! I read Mr. Magic Hands when it first was posted, then have reread it over and over and over again. I just read A Delightful Foray Into Repressed Sadism and like—can we PLEASE talk about Wilson being a sadist???? And you’re SO right- House isn’t a sadist or a masochist, but so desperate to please others (mainly Wilson) and find out all of the secret details. There’s a part of the story that I wanted to highlight.

THIS IS LITERALLY SO?!?!!?!? oh my god. Not only is hilson smut so <3, but it also is INCREDIBLE from Wilson bc he’s right—I think House does provoke Wilson because he wants to see how far he can go. He wants that “punishment” of sorts, but he also wants to pushpushpush until he can’t anymore. (Also, House is literally a such a bratty bottom and I’m so grateful to see someone finally agree.)

And it’s not just the smut!!! You capture them so well even in fluffy writing!!! House is absolutely the type to start with pet names ironically, but then realize that he’s sickeningly obsessed. I’ve always had the thought of him calling Wilson ‘doll’, but ‘honey’ works just as well. I’m obsessed with it. Because, well, OBVIOUSLY a it’s a joke guys…. and then House is saying it and thinking it when no one is there to see it as a joke. Now, a little writing that surrounds the scene (Summary: The Black Cat (Chat Noir) approaches Marinette with a deal);

Marinette had never been one for the opera. It was too childish for her taste. Princesses willing to give all of themselves to strangers, handsome rogues playing tricks and jokes on poor bystanders. It was maddeningly predictable.

It was not on purpose that she then sat watching it, barely propping up her head. The Black Cat would be in attendance, the devious scoundrel that had been running rings around the royal courts of France.

And it was sponsored by her parents. Their royal majesties.

Less important, of course.

There was certain benefits to being crown Princess. Her booth overlooked the entire theatre, allowing her to survey the crowd below. If he even so tried to approach the stage, she'd see him. If not by her eyes but by the guards she'd stationed around the theatre. The Black Cat would be brought to justice tonight.

“A pleasant show, is it not?” A voice said in her right ear. She jolted, shivers running down her skin. She could feel the heat of a body she hadn’t even noticed until he spoke.

“Don’t turn around. You wouldn’t want to miss my show.” A finger graced the peak of her cheek, guiding her eyes back to the performer on the stage. Her heart squirmed in her chest.

“Did you hurt them?” The question felt cold in her mouth.

“Who?”

I think an important context for everything we see from Hector's perspective is this bit from chapter 34:

Hector knows.  Hector remembers all the shit we did.  He remembers the details.  He’d fucking better remember the details.

But Hector and our authors are not exactly on speaking terms right now, so that approach is a no-go.

So basically I’m just gonna give you the five-minute Cliff’s Notes version.  That’s all I know, because I’m not really me.  I’m just our authors doing some fucked-up role-play thing.  The real Annabel Lee is fucking dead, okay?

When we get scenes from the perspective of e.g. Cordelia, those are based on Cordelia's memories of her own experiences. When we get scenes from the perspective of Hector Stein, those are at best educated guesses, and at worst propaganda from his enemies. I'm thinking here of Umberto Eco's line from Ur-Fascism,

Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak. Fascist governments are condemned to lose wars because they are constitutionally incapable of objectively evaluating the force of the enemy.

and the way Hector always comes across as simultaneously pathetic and implausibly badass. (Not that Sylvie & co. are particularly fascist in most other respects.)

There's a sort of narrative fakeout in chapter 40: We're given a lot of reason to expect that we're about to learn what Hector is up to, both because much of the chapter is written from his perspective and because Sylvie undertakes a concerted effort to find out what he's doing. We don't, ultimately, learn very much about Hector's capabilities, what he's been doing, or what his plans are. And the reason we don't learn much is that Hector doesn't want us to. More literally, of course, he doesn't want Sylvie to find out, but it's made very salient in this chapter that our perspective is limited to that of the authors', and whatever they don't end up finding out, we don't get to know.

Almost Nowhere has a lot of focus on the idea of being-put-into-words as an act of violence. Most notably of course is the damage that Azad's translation does to the anomalings, and their attempts to mitigate and contain that damage incite almost everything else in the story. But of all the characters, it's Hector, not the anomalings, who is most successful at keeping himself from being a contained and comprehensible element of the story we are reading. For all the discussion of alien experiences as being incomprehensible and "not for us", it seems like a lot of the biggest questions that we as readers don't get to know the answers to are, ultimately, going to be variations on "what is Hector Stein's whole deal?"

But what about Twenty-Seven? She is also not one of the authors; does that mean that the many sections from her perspective are also fabricated? I don't think so. Cordelia is one of the authors, and Cordelia arbitrates with Twenty-Seven. Through her we can get a clear picture of parts of the story that otherwise might have been as murky and speculative as the parts from Hector or Annabel.

One last point, considerably more out on a limb than the rest of this (which was already pretty speculative): Grant is not an unintelligent guy, but almost every time we see him he's bumbling around and disoriented and the butt of the narrative joke. The recent instances of that are partly explained by Moon fucking with his head, but it goes a lot further than that. What if he's written that way because Azad wrote those sections of the narrative, and Grant just saw them and went "yeah, sure"?

See the first sentence of DIO down below. Anyway, this is the Dio I would be willing to date depending on how we met back in the late 1800′s. He’s still a conniving selfish megalomaniac, but not as bad as Stardust Crusaders DIO and I’m a sucker for Victorian Gothic fashion. This is also the only form of Dio that I have any sympathy for, like “Hon-neyyyy! You were set. You would have been golden. You didn’t NEED more. You could have easily made yourself a fortune. Live the rich man’s life you wanted.” He was adopted by an old rich man, accepted by his adoptive brother, and graduated as a top law student, even still he was influenced by his sperm donor’s last words to gain all the power. All the wealth. So yeah, I would give this Dio a chance.

Kars: YES.

If you’ve been here long enough, you know he’s my favorite in the yandere JJBA villain harem. But even outside of the yandere harem, my answer is still yes.

DIO: NO.

I have a mate that self ships himself with Dio/DIO and I ain’t a traitor like that. 😤 Also, see my explanation for Dio Brando above. Which is ironic since I self-ship with One Piece’s Doflamingo. . . But we ain’t talking about him. 😗🧋. . . At best, Vanilla Ice and I are the adopted children that get fed and dragged along while DIO and my mate are on a date. We’re also carrying all the bags and coats so they can take cute couple photos together. And also, Araki had all the opportunity to bring back a sexy, mysterious, Victorian Gothic vampire. But naaaah. He made DIO a Neon Banana. It doesn't help because my least favorite colors are bright yellows.

Yoshikage Kira: No.

Not my type, I guess? Don’t get me wrong. Diamond is Unbreakable was such a refreshing, fun, and unexpected part. It was a major switch up from the world-threatening and inhuman beings of parts 1-3. But I wasn’t attracted to Yoshikage all that much. I think I need the extra ego and bloodthirst for my villains. 😂

Diavolo/Doppio: Maybe, but it'll be a No in the end.

Hey~ Two for one deal. 😎 But jokes aside, You Killed My Husbands! Seven of them indirectly! This is essentially a yandere situation without it being a yandere AU because I think Diavolo would be a good partner. . . If you know... submit to being hidden from the world, living alone in an Italian villa where no one can find you, and you have to move every few weeks, months, years, or maybe even days. You have NO Connections to the outside world. No internet for you. Doppio seems like a loyal and sweet partner, but he'd be the only good part of this relationship. They definitely have the money to spoil you too.

Enrico Pucci: No?

I honestly think he’d be a decent boyfriend. (Thank you to all of you headcanon creators that are still putting out content or are still JoJo fans. You make my day a little less bleak.) It’s the whole devotion to DIO that's a turn-off. Also, please don’t talk about converting me to Christianity or Catholicism at the dinner table. Or how about I introduce you to the entire Greek pantheon? No? Ok, how about the Tagalog pantheon?
