i apologize for mithrunposting incessantly but honestly if any of you expected better of me you shouldn't have
anyway i get it and some of the failguy jokes are funny. i can tell that nothing i've run into is even malicious. but also it would be really cool and awesome if there were simply less posts calling a disabled person a failure or baby or a dog or whatever for needing accommodation or extra help, especially when like. hey did you know the source material very on purpose did not do anything remotely like that. critical thinking question: could there be some reasons these phrases are not great, potentially
#*#mithrun#dungeon meshi#people are being weird about laois and falin wrt autism also but this is a separate issue#the downside of rep outside of like Average Action Movie Protagonist#which is to say. rep at all. as we would think of it.#is that you get to see not in-group folks talk about those characters. also.#and sometimes. people have. let us say. unexamined. or unacknowledged. biases. perhaps prejudices. at times.#ANYWAY#DISABLED PEOPLE HOWEVER DISABLED ARE NOT INFANTS OR ANIMALS. THANK YOU.#ALSO JUST FOR THE RECORD NOT THAT IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO MY POINT#BUT MITHRUN IS SAID IN THE STORY TO BE FAIRLY SELF SUFFICIENT OUTSIDE OF DUNGEON CRAWLING.#his intelligence and strength stats are both extremely high. hey. hey. hey guys. what about him compels you to portray him#as weak or bumbling or unintelligent. quickly.#edit:#like look. if your whole joke is just ''ooooh he's so fucked up. he's so fucked up he's basically a goofy dog''. think about some things.#talking about/including a character's disability: 👍✅#exclusively talking about how fucked up it makes them/how fucked up it is to be disabled: 😕❌#double anyway. fucking. please for the love of god if nothing else. understand that real life disabled people see how you talk about#and portray those with disabilities. and sometimes! it does not feel good. thank you.#this isn't no fun alloweding. just THINK before you say shit PLEASE.#the only character ive seen get called a dog as much as mithrun is fucking laois. which. yk? ykwim here? would u call chilchuck a pursedog.#would that be fucked up‚ maybe. can you tell me why. are you reading me.#ok. i'm done. just. god. negative sims interaction bubble. JUST THINK ABOUT IT THATS ALL.#''its funny to ship mithrun with beautiful people bc he looks so fucked up now haha'' PLEASE CAN ANYONE HEAR ME.#actually i have more to say. rbing this. god. God.

Constantly wondering what went down when Laois was in the army, and the new omake about his and Falin's time in the caravan is only making my questions grow. Like one would assume that his shaggy appearance after he deserted is the classic tried and true "I finally don't have to shave and cut my hair anymore I'm free" move, except in the omake he looks less shaggy and more haggard and depressed, and it's only when Falin decides to join him that you see him slowly start to put himself together and 'upgrade' to shaggy.
Like the only thing we know about his time in the army (beyond the incredibly vague 'he felt like he didn't fit in so he decided to desert') is from the panel where the winged lion says that laios loves monsters because "monsters kill humans", and in the background you can see someone holding him in place while someone else whales on him. Like hello?? That's not "oh I didn't think I fit in" that's literally getting the shit beat out of you!!! Ms. Ryoko Kui???? Could you please elaborate??? I'm begging you???
Also Falin is so real, if I saw my brother for the first time in eight years and he was like "hey I was just in the area and decided to stop by for a couple minutes" and he looked like THAT i would also immediately quit school and insist on traveling with him. Like bro what happened to you 😭

I can understand how Shuro may be a frustrating character to some folks - in fact that is kinda what he is there for, narratively speaking. But it really gives me ick when people just wanna shit on him for "being awful/the worst/an asshole"
The way I see it, the dude is his own different flavor of Autism- repressed, conditioned, awkward, and forced to participate in high society, not to mention the culture clash - and he sees laios just being his own weirdo self and he hates it --- no, thats not it. I honestly don't think he hates laios; i truly believe he hates that Laios gets to be TRUE to himself, and he (shuro) Doesn't get to be.
And it's a feeling I can understand and sympathize and empathize with, as I have been on my own personal journey to try and un-mask and deconstruct and heal myself in a world that has made me feel broken my entire life
People scream "hypocrisy" as shuro sees the same traits between the touden siblings, and is attracted to one whilst hating the other - and yes, I can agree that it's a bit hypocritical, but yall are taking it at face value and not understanding where his feelings are coming from. Shuro doesn't hate laios because he has a special interest, shuro hates that his whole life, he has had to squash himself into a form-fitting box, behave as his family commands, and now he sees laios being free of expectation, just out here being a weirdo, and shuro is possibly feeling that frustrated grief that comes with the late diagnosed autistic situation of "I could have been happy, too, but no, *I* had to be the responsible one"
... at least, that's how I view it. Coz I myself have had those thoughts. And I know, it's NOT a good look for me to be out here admitting that I have felt this way, like for example, maybe I see someone else's struggle with anxiety, whether it's online or in real life, and I have this bitter thought to myself of "yeah, I have anxiety too, but *I* was still forced to be a responsible adult anyway" which makes me momentarily frustrated.
And before anyone jumps my ass about it, NO, I definitely DO NOT think that "if I had to suffer thru it, so should everyone else" that's NOT what I'm saying. But I AM saying that, there is a bitterness, when u see someone who is able to avoid a struggle that you had to endure - that bitterness is NOT thinking that everyone should suffer as I did, but me being bitter that *I had to* at all.
Does that make sense? Coz I really feel like Shuro just gets shit on because people think he's there to interrupt the Yuri and be mean to Laois, and I really feel that he's a whole ass person. And a somewhat melancholic one, at that. He makes me think of how I had to grow up Christian whilst being queer and undiagnosed Audhd my entire life, and I would be very very surprised to hear that a large chunk of dunmeshi fans didn't ALSO grow up this way, feeling broken and stupid and tired, forced to do things the "normal people" way, and then NOT understand how Shuro feels when he sees someone who is in a position to be mostly free of that...

For That One Guy on Tumblr part 7
Chilchuck x !fem !halffoot reader
*minor spoilers for Marcille's backstory if you are an anime only person. It just involves one of her parents. It's in the paragraph that starts with "yeah sure"*
Senshi and Izutzumi stopped talking and everyone glanced around quickly and then looked at Chilchuck.
Marcille raised her staff, and Laois put a hand on his sword.
"Look around you!" Chilchuck said brusquely. "We're in a fucking labyrinth!"
Marcille groaned. "Reeeeaaaalllllllyyyy? I thought that was lower down!"
"Well the thing about a labyrinth is that it *moves*" Chilchuck said.
"I know that!" Marcille snapped back. "everyone knows that! But not usually whole floors right??"
Laois interjected. "This must be because of the changes we've seen in the dungeon! Whole floors must be shifting up and down. We can't expect anything to be the same."
You noticed Senshi looked a little pale.
"Anyway, everyone keep behind me now." Chilchuck said. "Things are about to get real dicey. Izutzumi that goes for you as well."
Abruptly, he turned to you. "You can help, just stay behind me as well until I can see you know what you're doing. I don't want to get skewered because you didn't catch a spear trap."
"Yeah sure." Little fucker. You knew how to spot a fucking spear trap. Even newbs knew how to spot a fucking spear trap. Whatever, he was probably genuinely pretty competent and he'd had to deal with these blundering other races for so long he'd probably forgotten what other halffoots were like. I mean even the elf looked like she was half tall-man, so she was probably more solid and clumsy than a regular elf.
You slipped your shoes off, there was a decent chance you'd need to be ready to spot pressure traps and you wanted to be prepared. Plus the floor looked smooth, without any sharp points to cut yourself on anyways. You hadn't had a chance to get some fabric to make your regular ankle brace wraps and you felt kind of naked without them.
"Hey hang on." You glanced up to see Chilchuck sorting through his pack. He grabbed something, pulled it out, and thrust it at you. Two neatly rolled long strips of white fabric. "You'll probably need this. I didn't think of it before. Do you know how to wrap your ankles?"
"Of course I do." You snapped. Again only a base newb wouldn't know to do that. Even as early as you entering the dungeon that had been standard procedure for whoever dealt with traps. You sat down and started to put them on.
The others waited around impatiently while you quickly wrapped your ankles. You felt uncomfortable doing it with an audience, and they probably didn't understand the necessity, but if you had the choice you were not going to go without ankle protection. No fucking way you were going to turn an ankle again and have to limp along for days, half useless.
While you were getting situated, Senshi quickly and expertly cut up the mushroom and wrapped it in some kind of leaf, muttering happily to himself about how lucky they were to find such a flavorful ingredient. This also seemed to remind him about your revival sickness, and he pulled out a flask and made you drink some more broth once your wraps were on.
Finally, everything was set up and the party set off again. They moved slowly, you stayed slightly behind Chilchuck as he had requested.
At first everything seemed clear. The plan was to stick to what seemed the main passage and try not to go off from it.
Then you stepped on a tile and felt it start to shift.
You threw your weight back on your other foot, thanking all the gods you'd still been stepping carefully, and said "hey! We got something here!"
Chilchuck immediately froze and looked around at you, and most of the other party members seemed to take it with varying degrees of seriousness, but Izutzumi just brushed past you. "Why are we so worried? Who cares if there's a few traps, I'm tired of waiting around."
She stepped on a tile just in front of you, and you heard a soft *click!*. In a fraction of a second you pieced together trigger tile + holes in the wall at head height. Arrow trap. Maybe an eighth of a second delay.
Reflexively, you dove forward at Izutzumi in a low tackle, driving your shoulder into the back of her knees. You threw your whole weight behind it, and it worked. She collapsed on top of you as the arrows sailed harmlessly just above the both of you.
She hissed and violently untangled herself from you.
"THAT" you gasped out, winded by her elbow in your stomach. "IS WHY WE WORRY."
"Izutzumi!" Chilchuck looked more pissed than you'd ever seen him, but stayed frozen in place. "stay the fuck back! We can't do our fucking jobs if you're in the way and it'll be a hell of a lot faster if you just stay back!"
"I would've been able to dodge the arrows on my own!" Izutzumi snarled back. "Y/N just-"
"Like hell you would! Y/N saved you from being skewered by arrows, now learn a lesson from this and STAY. BACK."
She looked like she might be about to argue the point but Marcille put a hand on her shoulder. "Why don't we let Chilchuck and Y/N do what theyre good at, it wouldn't be good to have to ressurect you. You can walk back with me if you want?" She said hopefully.
Izutzumi grumbled but sulked back into the back of the party with Marcille, who looked pleased.
Chilchuck turned to you and huffed, rolling his eyes at you in a "can you believe who I have to work with" way. "Come on, come up with me. You do that half of the corridor, I'll do the other half. Everyone else, ONLY step where we step, got it? ONLY where either ME or Y/N steps, okay? Tell me, OUT LOUD that you understand."
Everyone except for Izutzumi nodded and voiced various expressions of assent, and Marcille firmly linked elbows with her. Ah well, that would have to do.
Chilchuck seemed to think so as well, and jerked his head at you, moving carefully to the left to allow you to come up beside him on the other side of the corridor.
Together you continued to carefully work your way down the corridor.

FOR THRICE I HATH RETURNED❗️❗️ Hope you're doing good :3 for this request, I wanted to see if I could get some Headcanon's of OMORI's Kel, Undertale's Asriel (in young adult years if you don't mind writing him as if the buttercup tragedy didn't happen), & Dungeon Meshi's Laois with a younger brother reader! My thoughts were that reader's been getting very invested & skilled at painting recently, & he's made a spectacular portrait of his brother that's incredibly shy to show to him.
a/n: of course! im sorry this is so late, its been a super rough week for me, but i hope you enjoy!
Kel, Asriel and Laois with a younger brother reader
(who is particularly into painting!)
Kel
— Kel is like the #1 funnest older brother ever real
— He would love to hear you’re getting into painting and art! He would paint and draw with you, and always ask about it.. he’s pretty involved with all your activities.
— Always asking “any new paintings? any new drawings”, and always responds so positively to them, he truly loves them!
— he’ll compliment you on them and then give you a big hug !
— He would also encourage Sally and Hero to look at them as well :)
— So when you come to Kel, saying that you made a painting of him, he gets WILDLY ecstatic.
— in all honesty he would probably cry happy tears, so happy that you like him THAT much that you would paint him.
— But when he sees you’re a bit shy to show him, he’ll put his hand on your shoulder and tell you that he always loves your art! You’re so good at it!! and then you, cautiously, show him your painting of him.
— He smiles ear to ear and hugs you, just repeating thank you, and how good it is, and how he loves it <3
— If you let him, Kel would absolutely, 100000% hang it up in his room.
— He really loves this hobby and all of your paintings, and your talent!
Asriel
— im going to go a bit deltarune-esque on this one lmao
— Asriel is in college, but he still comes home very often to see you, his little brother, and Toriel <3
— He loves his family and doesn’t really like going long periods of time without seeing you both.
— So one day, he comes home and learns you’re into painting, when you excitedly show him a painting you’re working on in the common room!
— He laughs and smiles, saying it looks great. He never really knew you were that into painting; though you were always artsy.
— Asriel asks if you have any more paintings, and you take his hand, bringing him to your room to show him multiple paintings!
— he loves them, and he’ll talk to Toriel about them too!
— The next time Asriel comes home, you hug him and tell him you have a little surprise for him.
— you painted him! you just hoped he’d like it, as you worked really hard. Nonetheless, you were super nervous, trembling as you led your older brother to your room to show him.
— He just puts an arm around you, kneeling down, and telling you that he’s so excited, and that’s… weirdly soothing?
— You open your door and show him the amazing portrait, sitting on an easel.
— He gasps and blinks, a smile creeping onto his face as he kneels down to look at it intently.
— You’re watching nervously as he just looks all around it…
— he suddenly turns around and hugs you tightly! “Thank you.. I love this. This is a great way to come home!” Asriel whispers into your ear. You smile and hug tighter. “Please keep painting.”
Laios
— autism brother
— Laios is literally bouncing off the walls when you tell him you’re into painting. He’s super mega uber x100 excited.
— “THATS SOOOOO COOL”
— He would marvel over your paintings like no other, just admiring them!
— For the next few weeks, you’re working on a particular painting, and are very strict when you say Laois CAN’T see.
— He’ll just say, “Okay…”
— Until one day, you nervously blindfold him and take his hand into your room. You’re very nervous, but Laios’s goofy smile and excited laughs put you much more at ease.
— “1,2,3..” you untie the blindfold and Laios squeals and smiles, rushing over to the painting of him, in his armor.
— He starts talking about how much he loves it, straight up ranting, he says he loves you, and hugs you, multiple times!
— He’d show Falin and would be shaking her, saying: “THAT’S ME!!! ME!!!”
— he loves your paintings and you <3

Things I know abt dungeon meshi solely by having mutuals who are into it
theres two lesbians one of which (falin) is like a feathered transgender woman who canonically has a massive dragon dick and the other (marcille) is an elf who is worlds biggest struggler
senshi aka the bear dwarf who gets pantyshots and exists as a tulpa in peoples brains that makes them eat better
namari the female dwarf that actually looks like a dwarf
laios (laois?) the Human Fighter whos actually balls to the wall insane and also a monsterfucker and also falin's brother
chilchuck the halfling whos married w kids and is in an union but everyone portrays him as divorced and probably kissing senshi
izutsumi the catgirl whose very name is a meme
very based and cool character design overall with genuine diversity amongst the fantasy species. think the antithesis of world of warcraft
themes of class and neurodivergence
mana = excuse for yuri
actually theres so much yuri
farcille fanartists regularly putting out yuri that would belong in the sistine chapel
the overtaking of its normally yuriful ao3 by yaoi </3
tasty and scrumptious meals i will never be able to consume because slimes and dungeon creatures arent real

I haven't seen anyone try and figure out which dopple-ganger/shapeshifter was created by each person in Laois party so here are my theories as to who I think each one was!
Tumblr media
Starting with the Laois'! The tallest one I assume would be how Chilchuck sees Laois, he sees him as pretty capable in many aspects as a leader he just recognizes that Laois is a complete dolt when it comes to people.
The most clueless Laois would most likely be how Marcille views Laois as she's the one most freaked out about eating monsters and is constantly on edge about eating them moreso than Chilchuck.
That leaves the last Laois standing the leftmost of the panel, he generally respects Laois and probably finds Laois more pleasant than the others as he also enjoys cooking monsters as much as Senshi does so his version of Laois is more put together than the other Laois.
Tumblr media
Next is Marcille!
Tumblr media
This Marcille is definitely how Senshi views Marcille, he was already opposed to how carelessly Marcille uses magic disrupting the dungeons ecosystem. He was even more appalled knowing Marcille uses ancient magic.
Tumblr media
My guess as to whose Marcille was eliminated in this round was Chilchuck's version of Marcille due to process of elimination. The only person who had looked deeply into Marcille's grimoire is Laois so it makes sense that his version of Marcille is the one with the more accurate grimoire and Laois was the least phased by the fact Marcille uses black magic.
Chucklefuck next!
Tumblr media
The first Chilchuck and Senshi were eliminated instantly and found out to be Laois' version of them. Hilariously Laois finds Chucklefuck to be an angry and uptight fella.
Tumblr media
The other versions of Chilchuck are harder to tell. My only guess to who sees Chucklefuck as a cutie is Marcille as she adores Chucklefuck and she's been around Chilchuck longer so she most likely knows how his tools look like? Then again there was the chapter with Senshi working with Chucklefuck so maybe he got a closer look at them then and Senshi see's him as a boy than the age he actually is. SIgh, this one could go to either member.
Tumblr media
Alrighty! Last but not least Senshi!
Tumblr media
The Senshi with the less accurate version of his pan and paddle is most likely Marcille's version of Senshi. She doesn't really help with cooking monsters so she doesn't see Senshi's utensils as much as the others.
Tumblr media
That leaves handsome Senshi being Chucklefuck's version of Senshi. Especially since he was the one to point out the differences between Senshi and himself and then couldn't tell the difference between the real Senshi and Handsome Senshi. I guess Chucklefuck shares his daughter's admiration for dwarves haha

saw ur vents abt dungeon meishi and while I haven’t read the series yet or watched the anime I have seen bits and pieces and already saw the blowup scene where Toshiro attacks Laois and like. even I with zero context didn’t totally hate him. It sucks majorly that it had to happen but like. Toshiro is going through his own shit and plenty of other characters ALSO don’t like Laois! I think people just see that scene and project the amount of times that’s happened to them with someone in real life, which like. I get it. I’m autistic and reading that scene hit like a gut punch bc it was something I had experienced directly in real life: trying to be friends with someone, thinking you are friends, only for them to reveal one day that they couldn’t stand you and hated your guts from day one. You wonder why the fuck they pretended and let you hurt even worse than outright initial rejection. You wonder why they’d put themselves through enduring you. It makes you feel like you can’t trust anyone, makes you feel like utter shit. I 100% get why it bothers people. But you can’t project real life people you experienced onto this character that does not align at all except for this one moment. Also knowing about the author, she probably put that in on purpose as commentary for how autistics in Japan generally have to go through shit like this bc of the way their social culture is. She’s made plenty of autistic commentaries before, I doubt she stuck that scene in there for no good reason. The fact that Toshiro kept quiet and didn’t say anything until he couldn’t take it anymore is VERY indicative to me of the ways Japan’s typical social system is a struggle on all sides. Not to say these are problems unique to Japan, but the nuance needs to be understood. Toshiro isn’t being a dick just for the sake of it. I want to read it sometime so I can better understand the guy, but I don’t want to hate him based on one scene where he was an asshole. Laois is an asshole plenty of times himself, being very overtly written as autistic doesn’t absolve him from the responsibilities of being an adult.
TLDR: People tend to infantilize Laois and demonize Toshiro, which comes down to the prejudices preconceived for both of them: people see Laois, as an autistic man, as an innocent sweet guy who needs to be protected. They see Toshiro, as an Asian man, as someone who should be “polite and honorable” or whatever and are appalled when he acts like a fallible human being and not some appropriation of a fictional romanticized samurai. I understand feeling betrayed and angry seeing a character be a genuine asshole about something (social expectation does not completely absolve Toshiro of his own antagonizations however much of a reason he had) but when it’s so damn one sided, and especially in a series where almost NO one is without complete asshole qualities that round them out, I find it kind of gross that people hate on him for that. Anyway. Just wanted to send a message of support and understanding. Hopefully after I read more I can offer more analysis to corroborate with you on.
100% CORRECT thank you anon
i also understand the people who are sympathizing with laios bc that scene is very easy to relate to for many autistic or otherwise neurodivergent people (i also got a cold sweat when i was watching it bc. like. having someone you thought was a friend straight up tell you there are parts of your behavior that they can't stand is one of the worst things to experience of all time, ESPECIALLY if you were only showing that behavior around them bc you thought they were your friend and you trusted them) but it's so frustrating seeing so many people have such shallow opinions about toshiro bc of it. im on hands and knees begging people to consider the characters in three dimensions and/or develop better reading comprehension because like!! toshiro's official meeting with laios's new group literally leads with 'oh his name is actually toshiro and we never knew bc our leader had a misunderstanding and microaggressed him and he was too polite to correct him' laios is not an innocent party here!! he is not an innocent uwu autistic baby he's a grown adult man with responsibilities, in that whole time he was partied with toshiro he never learned his real name!! plus using toshiro's crush on falin as a reason to hate him, falin's adolescence was spent in a school and a social setting where she was expected to mask + her being a girl also means she is expected to mask by default -> she is better at masking than laios so why are people saying that toshiro hates laios for the same traits in falin bc clearly not?? also saw one person saying 'he only likes falin because she's hot' NO HE DOES NOT HE WOULD NOT RISK HIS LIFE HEALTH AND RETAINERS IN A DUNGEON ON A FOREIGN CONTINENT FOR THE SAKE OF A WOMAN HE ONLY THOUGHT WAS SEXY!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DUNMESHI FANS THINK WITH YOUR BRAAIN
the whole fight he had with laios where laios points out that their party is more serious about finding falin and resolving everything also drives me nuts because i've seen at least one take saying that toshiro doesn't care about falin as much as team laios because of this. which yes the fact that team laios understands the importance of health in pursuit of a goal is very very important but for many cases in east asian culture (and actually any culture with emphasis on capitalism and economic growth) productivity will get valued above all else which leads to neglect of personal health, i.e: what toshiro was doing. so this is just a clown take to begin with
also interesting to me that almost every character in dunmeshi thus far has demonstrated some kind of racial bias/misconceptions (i.e: chilchuck about elves, senshi about half-foots, etcetera etcetera) and laios and falin are no exception. race and racial differences and conflict and coexistence is also one of the underlying themes in dungeon meshi, with the elves of the west being considered a major issue to many dungeon-goers and the mayor hating dwarves and having to contend with those elves, and then marcille's motive for studying black magic and even thistle's motive for being the dungeon keeper. so it's real fucking ironic that the fans are really quick and happy to demote toshiro to 'asshole side character who is bullying our autistic rep' instead of, you know, using nuance and thinking about it
tldr; dungeon meshi has great commentary on what it's like as an autistic person in society. but dungeon meshi fans are too quick to write off toshiro as an asshole japanese guy who is ableist and getting in the way of their white woman yuri, therefore helping to promote this website's enduring legacy as the piss-poor reading comprehension website

Here’s a question with no real answer! Why do you think the dungeons have the resurrection field? The demon has to let it happen in some capacity, so why? Thinking about it I would say to give people more desires. If they can’t die they’ll keep pushing to the bottom focused on what they want out of it not worried about dying and so they keep wanting things and aren’t scared to keep on pushing until the demon can get a better lord maybe. And it also wouldn’t waste any good potential lords. It’d be a real shame for the demon if Laois or Marcille had died so early. Sorry I don’t know what I’m saying I’m kinda just rambling at this point
Sorry took me a while to get to this one, Honestly yeah, hard to tell, the Adventurer's Bible only mentions it's active on most dungeons with lots of adventurer's but it doesn't say why.

the worst part of being an autistic laios fan is that laios is still just normal to me. Giving (seemingly) relevant information or facts on a topic just to come off as off-putting? everyday occurrence. people assigning malicious intent on your most banal of behaviors and actions? everyone's been there! beholden to unspoken rules about vague social cues? Classic!
i thought dungeon meshi was just a fantasy manga except this time they put in an ACTUALLY normal guy. nope hes just autistic ;'j
fhsdkjggsh honestly yeah, Laois is genuinely the most relatable character I've ever seen in television / read in manga, like
Laois in Dungeon Meshi for his autism and his blunt speech and the way people wilfully misinterpret everything he says and find him creepy or weird just for his love and enthusiasm is so wild, esp bc like. the extent to which Marcille shares many of his traits and his passions, but because she's sort of sleepy and softer spoken, people don't respond to her with the same coldness and aggression, and the way in which that's gendered? that doesn't feel great either!
I love the different autistic vibes and communication styles in dungeon meshi because it's soooo real, but also like. yowch with the way ppl react and respond fghkgjhg
idk if you've seen Twittering Birds Never Fly but i found Yashiro and Doumeki super relatable as well from an autistic and trauma perspective but it's a lot heavier than dungeon meshi

I’m gonna be sooo real this is not a real issue. Like at all. This is like the opposite of an issue. Fandoms almost never focus equally on the plot relevant parts of the story because if you want that you go read the story. Fandoms almost always, from what I’ve seen, focus on the relationships & dynamics individuals find interesting. The fact that there’s a lot of focus on marcille & Falin is probably cuz they’re not like CANON canon so there’s room to explore that.
If you’re seeing a lot of gay shit it’s not cuz people are just too blinded by shipping to recognize that there’s other stuff going on it’s cuz all the other stuff literally fucking happened in the story and this really interesting & cute dynamic has a lot to offer.
Not to pull this card but nobody says this shit when it’s mlm ships that get attention- and if they do it’s laughed off like “hah yeah fandoms do be like that you’re gonna see a lot of shipping stuff lol” but for some reason focusing on wlw ships is “pretending it’s the marcille and falin and friends show” like :/
Also one of the most popular posts I’ve seen multiple times on my dash is the one about Laois’ autistic anger… people fucking love Laois… I personally have seen multiple chilchuck AMVs. Senshi is a fandom darling. People are constantly talking about the symbolism and themes of this story. This is a great example of a ship being super popular without ppl ignoring the rest of the cast. What are you fucking talking about.
You can’t even make a post about how much their relationship drives the narrative without people acting like you’re ignorant of literally everything else in the story just cuz you didn’t address it in your 1 paragraph post. Stop pissing me off!!

Marcille is racist, but she's a boring white woman so that isn't a conversation anyone is ready for. I can't take any of you seriously.
Is this about the Toshiro posts I reblogged? I was mostly focusing on him because I find his character interesting, and the disproportionate amount of hatred he got for fighting with Laois really rubbed me the wrong way once I actually watched the scene and realized how overblown it was.
But... yeah, she is. Marcille is very much racist, we see this in her interactions both with the Orcs and with other human races, especially Chilchuck. She calls Orcs savages to their face while ignoring their very real history of being othered and scapegoated, and the only thing that gets her to marginally chill out is that she can't be mean to a baby. She's also extremely rude to Chilchuck (which is something all the party does, but especially Marcille), treating him like a child even while relying on his skills and expertise as one of the best in his field. Despite experiencing discrimination due to her status as a half-elf, Marcille never really stops and examines her own prejudice, and it's really only familiarity with her party that gets her to calm down somewhat.
It's kind of a plot point that everyone in dunmeshi is racist to some extent even when they don't want to be, and even when they have loved ones who are part of a marginalized community. Milsiril loves her son deeply, but coddles him because she still subconsciously sees short-lived races as basically children. Likewise, Kabru was ostracized for his rare eye color along with learning to distrust and dislike kobolds, but he still goes out of his way to talk to Kuro aka Yodan and make him comfortable. Even Senshi, as kind and accepting as he is, still holds a degree of prejudice against elves and their magic, something he eventually recognizes and takes steps to change.
I don't know what you're trying to accomplish here, I already agree with you, I was just focusing on Toshiro last night because I like his character and people ignored the very real factors that led to him lashing out (exhaustion, hunger, and slow-simmering resentment).
