The visions at the sacred flames had given them some idea that whatever awaited them in the midst of the Sundering Sea was bad news. Temenos connecting the island to scripture about the dark god being locked away only made it more ominous. Still, Partitio would bet they could stop whatever Oboro was planning.
They hadn't expected there to be one last flame, this one vile with Shadow energy. Hadn't expected Oboro to throw himself in, and for Vide, the dark god itself, to burst out, huge and terrifying, a cross between a pod and the upper half of an almost human skeleton. They'd gotten themselves in formation and been doing their best to withstand its vicious attacks while chipping away at it, but then there'd been a burst of dark energy and now--
Now Partitio was in darkness, and he knew from the way his bones were aching it wasn't a natural darkness. Worse than the darkness that had blanketed the world, this felt like it wanted to leech his soul away. He didn't plan on letting it, though, and Bifelgan must've been looking out for him; the only light he could see came from himself, a yellow, almost golden sheen--
No, wait. He wasn't the only light. He could seem a glimmer of bright orange in the distance, and a smaller dot of dazzling pink. He walked toward the bigger dot--at least, he thought he was walking, but in such a strange place with his body feeling so out of sorts, he wasn't quite sure. The dot got bigger and bigger though, and then he realized it was Agnea glowing like the star she was. The dazzling pink seemed to be closing in on her too, given it was getting bigger, and Partitio realized that it was Ochette under all that bright light, the tiny huntress running to them at full tilt.
He swept Agnea up in a hug as soon as he reached her, just so relieved he wasn't alone in the darkness, that she was also--as okay as could be in these circumstances. Only seconds later, Ochette's arms wrapped around his waist in a squeeze.
"I'm so glad you're both alright!" Agnea said, smiling with tears in her eyes. One tear leaked out when she winced. "Well...you're here...wherever here is."
"You guys don't know what Vide did either, do you?" Ochette asked. "I think Mahina managed to fly clear, but she sounded so worried..."
Partitio wished he could reassure the ladies but had to shake his head. "Haven't got a clue. That black energy just exploded and then--then it sucked us in." A thought occurred to him. "Hol' on, I couldn't do anything to resist it, and you were behind me. If Mahina could fly clear, it musta gotten weaker with distance. So Temenos and Osvald probably didn't get caught up in it. Maybe they can spring us free!"
Ochette perked up, her tail wagging in spite of the situation. "Yeah! Pops and Temenos are clever! Ma's with them too, and Néné I think, and..." Her tail slowed as something occurred to her, and she turned away from them, scanning the darkness.
Partitio had an awful feeling that wasn't just the darkness trying to consume him. "Hikari's...with them too, right Ochette?" Because Hikari sure didn't seem to be with them. The only lights around were theirs, mixing in between them to become an even brighter warm hue. If their gods were protecting them like Partitio thought, wouldn't Brand be protecting Hikari?
But Hikari had been near Partitio's side for most of the battle, a close range fighter just like him. While Throné seemed to have gotten lucky--maybe a thief's intuition had prompted her to pull back when Vide declared all would be theirs because, yep, in hindsight, that'd sure been a sign of bad news--had Hikari?
Ochette was shaking her head, still looking. "He was--he was in front of me. He tried to push me back from it." She cupped her hands over her mouth. "HIKARIIIIIIN!"
Agnea shouted too, even if she couldn't muster anything close to Ochette's volume. "Hikari! Hikari!"
"KARI!" Partitio bellowed.
The silence was choking. Partitio wanted to call out again, but the despair was strangling his throat, tears springing to his eyes. If Hikari had gotten caught up in Vide's attack too, why wasn't he here? What had happened to him?
"My apologies," Hikari's voice said, muted and exhausted but there, and Partitio scanned the darkness again, trying to figure out where he was, so relieved that it took Agnea jumping back for him to notice the shadow encroaching on their light.
He jerked back a step. Ochette flinched as well, but then she leaned forward, sniffing. "Hikarin...?"
The shadow drew back, disappearing into the rest of the darkness again. "Apologies. I should have come to you sooner, but I... I find myself weary. And..."
He seemed to lose the energy to even finish that thought, at least not before Agnea recovered from her shock. "Oh, goodness, Hikari, what's happened to you? Are you--are you hurt, what--" She took a few steps toward the shadow, her orange glow illuminating as much of its silhouette as could be seen with an ominous, smoky energy billowing out from it. She stretched a hand forward, but as soon as her hand reached into the wisps she gasped, faltering and forced to pull her hand back.
The shadow pulled back again, and Partitio stepped forward to make sure it--Hikari--stayed in sight. "'Kari, you gotta stay with us," he urged. "I'm sure the others are doin' everything they can to get us out of this mess. You gotta hold on."
Ochette nodded frantically. "It's going to be okay, Hikarin! So don't give in!"
"...You all have such bright spirits," Hikari's voice murmured. It sounded distorted from under the dark veil, all of Hikari's usual determination stolen away. "I wish I could be more like you. But even then, I fear that would not be enough."
"What d'you mean?" Partitio asked. He tried reaching out to Hikari himself, but the ache in his body, his very spirit, seemed to multiply the instant he got too close. Just like Agnea, he had to pull away.
"'The Eagle of Ku'. Kazan's plans always worked because he was so clear-sighted. And he could not find a reason for the world to see another dawn."
"He wasn't lookin' for one," Partitio said, taken aback. Hikari couldn't be saying the world should end, right? He hadn't thought that after the vision at the Sacred Flame near Ku, when they'd found out Kazan was part of this whole mess.
This really was Hikari, right? Not some trick?
"It didn't seem like Ori was looking for one, either, and yet she found one in you. I knew Kazan for years, and yet...I could not...guh..." The shadow shook, then shrank.
No, not shrinking. That was Hikari in there, on his knees from grief and hopelessness, and as Partitio was trying to figure out how he could help him, what could even be said, Ochette surged forward, tackling the shadow and groping until she seemed to find Hikari's neck to loop her arms around. She was whimpering, the energy hurting her too, but she held on determinedly.
"Ochette." Hikari's voice shook with surprise. "You should not..."
"You would be there for me if I was hurting!" Ochette cut him off. "So don't tell me not to! Ngh..."
If Ochette could do it, Partitio could do it too. Had to, because no way was he leaving Hikari alone in this despair. Agnea got down on her knees at the same time as Partitio, both of them using Ochette as a guide to figure out where Hikari was in that smothering darkness as they reached in. It burned the same as it had before, Partitio having to smother a grunt of pain, but Ochette and Agnea's light being close seemed to make it a little more bearable, and he wrapped his arms around both Hikari and Ochette tightly, feeling Agnea do the same from her side. He still couldn't see Hikari, only feel him, and the warrior was shaking like a dry leaf in the wind.
"Hikari," Agnea said. "I want to make everyone smile, but no one can force people to be happy. You can offer a smile and a helpin' hand, but if things don't work out, that doesn't mean it was your fault."
Partitio had been grounding his teeth against the pain, but he was determined to say something too. "Just 'cause he was smart doesn't mean he was thinkin' clearly. There are plenty of reasons to want to see another dawn. You're one of mine."
"And mine!" Agnea said.
"Mine too!" Ochette chipped in.
"We just need you to keep fightin' a little while longer, 'Kari. Even if you can't see a reason to right now. I promise there's a ton, and we'll help you find 'em."
"All of you are my reasons," Hikari said, and from underneath all the shadowy wisps, Partitio could see a glimmer of red. "I fear I will lose you, but..."
"You won't."
"I may. But I would lose you even sooner if I gave in now," Hikari said. Partitio's heart wrenched that even now he didn't seem hopeful. But the determination still seemed to be doing something, the red brightening, the darkness fading from him as he shone brighter. "My place is at your side, my friends. 'Til we bring back the dawn."
"We'll definitely do it!" Ochette said, her tail wagging in joy as the darkness left Hikari. "You an' me, Hikarin. Let's show that god and then have the biggest breakfast ever!"
Hikari's face was pale underneath the red glow, but he managed a small smile and laugh at Ochette's declaration...and then the darkness fell away, and they found themselves back at the summit of Vidania. With Vide looming over them they quickly broke out of their hug to stand, but there was still an overwhelming sense of relief. The others had managed to get them out of that awful darkness, and if that was the worst Vide could do, then the eight of them together would pull through.

Nobume & Matako as foils
Tumblr media
This was going to be part of a longer analysis, but in the end I decided to make a short separate post for it that I could refer to later.
I'm going to list a few similarities Nobume and Matako have, and within these similarities we could compare the differences and their implications.
Both girls are orphaned at a young age and forced to become a killer.
Nobume was orphaned by Naraku (which serves the Bakufu) and then trained to become an assassin. Her own will was not accounted for in the process; she did not have a say.
Matako lost her parents because of the Bakufu (her father executed for fighting in the joui war, her mother persecuted to death by association) and she wanted to avenge them with the pistols her father left behind. Though she was similarly a victim, Matako actively chose the path of rebellion for herself.
Both met their father figure, who end up becoming their commander, in a moment of rebellion. (self-explanatory)
Isaburo and Takasugi also happen to be working towards the same objective (toppling the Bakufu, exposing the Tendoshu)
They are both adored by their respective father figures, and the attachment is strong.
Though both Isaburo and Takasugi appear to have trouble navigating their relationship with their daughter. (Isaburo's pretty obvious; I plan on elaborating on Takasugi's case later)
They are both similar in temperament with their respective father figures.
Isaburo and Nobume are stoic and detached; Takasugi and Matako are hot-tempered and reckless.
(Also, within the revived Kiheitai, Matako is the only member whose initial motive is the same as Takasugi's: revenge. This could imply great similarities in their characters.)
Now, onto the greatest difference between Nobume and Matako: their personalities.
Nobume spent her entire life following orders. First under Naraku, and then under Isaburo. Isaburo was the one who wanted to support Takasugi's cause, and Nobume felt she "had to go along". Isaburo is plotting rebellion under the guise of following orders; as the Mimawarigumi followed his orders, they all became his pawn.
Matako meanwhile, belongs in the Kiheitai, which is pretty much rebellion and resistence incarnated. (I'd like to remind people that, despite their great loyalty to Takasugi, every major member of the Kiheitai has acted independently of Takasugi's will at some point—even against it sometimes.) I also feel like pointing out how Matako's an independent thinker as she is the only one to question the use of the Benizakura sword as it's too dangerous, and the only one to question if the Kiheitai's alliance with Harusame is a good idea. She even correctly deduced that Takasugi was in danger in that moment, something not even Bansai caught on.
(See, this is why I dislike portrayals of Matako as a simple-minded fangirl who blindly follows Takasugi around. I also think she deserves more serious moments where she acts and gets recognized as the competent person she is.)
Nobume, due to her parallel with Oboro (which deserves its own post), very likely got the same detached, emotionless personality from being brought up in Naraku. An authoritarian organization with little warmth and affection to speak of.
Matako, meanwhile, expresses a much wider range of emotions. She cries freely, plays the exasperated tsukkomi/straight man, and is a vibrant, lively girl. I can only imagine that if she's able to turn out like this, then the Kiheitai must be very different from Naraku in all asepcts.
For some reason, this post turns out to be longer than I intended. I'd like to share some speculations of how Matako was brought up by the Kiheitai, and how I think Takasugi feels about her. So, more posts incoming.

Asleep In The Keep: A DP x BNHA fic
Summary: A tired hero goes to a café (and some other stuff happens)
Word count: 5149
Chapter 20: I Need Some Coffee...
20/?
There was a new person working at Shouta’s favorite coffee place. This wouldn’t be unusual in any other establishment, but the old man who ran it was very particular about who he let in the back.
A few years back, the place was under investigation for possible ties to the black market as well as aiding vigilantes. A customer reported that they saw a well-known local vigilante go through the back entrance of the store, and a few days later, the same one was seen with new gear. There was other circumstantial evidence as well. Background checks revealed that all the baristas were past vigilantes that had already been caught and processed. However, the owner, Tanaka Masaru, a “quirkless” 67 year old, had a clean record, too clean, not even an overdue fine. There was no doubt in Shouta’s mind that the identity was fake. In the end, Shouta wasn’t able to find any concrete evidence on the coffee shop, and since all they had was circumstantial evidence and 1 eye witness, the case fell apart and was closed. The police department did not pursue it after that since there hadn’t been any vigilantes pop up in that area. Well… except for one.
Shouta has been coming here since then, it was on the way to school and they (surprisingly) made really good coffee. The owner was eccentric as well. Sometimes, Shouta could see him in a corner making little figurines and dishes, mumbling and laughing to himself, which ruined the peaceful atmosphere of the shop. Shouta wasn’t mad about it though, more of slightly annoyed whenever it happened. There was a tall shelf covering a wall that was home to the figurines. Most of them were past vigilantes, little animals or regular customers and staff (Shouta even had one up there). The ones on the top were the oldest and most intricately made, while they got less and less detailed as the shelves went down. The store also sold cups and mugs that were in a similar fashion. They were really expensive, but the craftsmanship was worth it (Shouta even had one or two at home).
Recently, a kid posted on social media about the place, and since then it has become a trendy spot with the youths, at least that's what Shouta heard. Fortunately, it was 5 AM and so no kids were even alive yet. Shouta could enjoy the quiet atmosphere while he waited for his coffee. He probably shouldn’t be having any more coffee today since he just finished up a long night’s search. Last night (or earlier this morning if you wanted to be technical), was the first lead he got since he started his investigation. Phantom was a tricky one, and his quirk was great at quick getaways, but he was young and one day he’ll make a mistake. But Shouta doubted it was gonna be today. He may as well listen to his husband and actually catch up on sleep. His schedule was still clear since his kids were still at internships. He heard Midoriya had even gotten out of the hospital a few days ago. Problem child…
Shouta’s fingers tapped impatiently on the table. All fantasies of sleep washed away like soap. He needed coffee. Shouta had entertained the notion of quitting before in the past. He has had so much coffee in his life that he suffers withdraws without it. He has been considering buying patches, but he loves the taste and ritual too much to stop. That’s what he said about smoking too. It first started after Oboro died, a way for Shouta to slow time and try to breathe it in. In the end though, it only made things worse. Now he drinks coffee.
He looked over at the new barista as he made his coffee. His order was simple and always the same; a simple black coffee. Impossible to mess up, but amazing when done right. The kid, whose tag said Tommy , looked to be struggling and Shouta could smell burnt coffee beans from past orders. When the kid checked him out, he gave one look at Shouta before saying that he didn’t have to pay anything. Shouta was shocked to say the least, but he didn’t argue. Free coffee tastes better than bought coffee, that's why he wasn’t worried about the smell. He wondered why the kid didn’t charge him, maybe he just recognized him and was a fan or something (it doesn’t happen a lot, but it does still happen). He severely doubted it.
It wasn’t just the anticipation of getting coffee that made him keep looking at the barista. “Tommy,” what a strange name in Japan. Despite his height and young age, he seemed to carry himself with a sense of steadiness that you only get after experience. Whenever he did seem to slip or mess up, it had seemed intentional, like he was trying to direct your suspicion away from him. The fact he was even working here was cause enough to run a background check. If it had been just those things Shouta would (probably), but of course, there was more.
The final nail in the coffin, and the real reason that Shouta was even studying the boy so intently, was sitting on the table in front of him. The manilla folder that Detective Tsukauchi gave him held the description of a suspicious boy that was seen before the Phantom sighting. Tall & lanky, pale skin, and blue-green eyes, which could describe a lot of the population. Again, if that was the only information provided then Shouta would look away, but then the file listed the most prominent feature of the suspect, black hair with a white stripe. Some minor but still important details were how cold and lifeless the boy was. He apparently had given the other heroes quite the scare. It was obviously the same kid. Whether or not he was also Phantom was left to be determined.
They had no understanding of his powers, except for the general ghost theme, and even that wasn’t consistent. What type of ghost is able to use ice like that? In horror stories the most ghosts could do was drop the temperature a little bit, not form glaciers able to stop explosions. Shouta had his own theories. Perhaps Phantom’s original quirk was a ghost mutation quirk, but AFO overloaded it with so many enhancement quirks (along with some new ones) that it created this tonally confused mess. If that were true, why couldn’t he have also given Phantom some minor shapeshifting quirk?
He looked at the boy again. If he was Phantom, he’d be really dumb. The café is a 15 minute walk from the alley. It will only be a matter of time before the Hero Commission checks here. Shouta rubbed his temples… Not unless he told them otherwise. The Hero Commission had no reason to believe that he would mislead them, except for his affiliation with UA. Fortunately, Principal Nezu had the foresight to set Shouta up as more loyal to the Commission than UA in the years prior. Shouta wasn’t proud of the things he’s done, but he couldn't argue with the results.
Suddenly, he heard a loud shout behind him, and the wet sound of someone spitting on the ground.
“What the hell is this shit?!” A large man with really nice hair in a uniform blasted out. He marched over to the counter that divided him and Tommy, and yelled even louder , “You can’t expect me to drink this garbage?! I paid 1,304¥ for this and I demand a refund!” That's way overpriced, Shouta thought . What idiot buys a cup of coffee for that much?
“I’m sorry dude-” The teen held his hands up in a placating manner. He looked nervous.
“Dude?!” The man had become red, and his hair changed colors and hues to match like a fire.
“Sir!” The kid quickly corrected, “but could you tell me what was wrong with it?” The kid looked down at him, confused. He was tall, maybe 6 '1 while slouching, and easily towered over the Uneri hair spray model. It was like Shouta observed before, the kid was purposely making himself seem less like a threat.
“What’s wrong with it? What isn’t wrong with it?!” His hands started moving like crazy, spilling some of his coffee, “It was scolding hot when I first took a sip of it, it even burned my tongue!” He stuck his tongue out to prove this, it looked fine. He started ranting again, “Then when I took the next sip it was freezing cold! Honestly it was a wonder of science that that even happened-I think this should be donated to science and you with it! Imagine the kind of foreign and new technology that could be discovered?!”
“I’ll give you the refund and make you a new coffee if you like?” he tilted his head, “It will be a little wait since I’m backed up right now…” He looked around the shop which only held the three of them. Truly a master of his craft.
Shouta clenched his fists. He knew the kid could handle it on his own. A bratty customer must’ve been a vacation compared to what the kid had been through before. It was probably better to stay out of it. He didn’t want to cause a scene or alert Tommy to what he was doing and what he knew. He really shouldn’t get involved…
“It’s time for you to stop-” no later than when the final word left his mouth, had the man flung his coffee at the boy. It splattered on the boy leaving him soaked and confused, rage and a green glow in his eyes.
Shouta had a similar reaction. In no quicker than a blink, his capture scarf wrapped around the prick. He pulled it tight, and the man fell down at the ankles, hitting his head on the counter. Good.
By this point the kid had backed deeper behind the counter, staring anxiously at the rope. This is exactly what Shouta didn’t want. Too late now. He pulled the asshole along the ground, careful to make sure he bumped into every chair leg or corner. His hair dragged behind him, sweeping up dust and dirt and getting knotted. His hair was gorgeous, every wave of his head reflected the warm light of the café that gave it the illusion it was changing colors. Deep blues, vibrant reds and crisp yellows that reminded Shouta of his husband, it was honestly a sight to behold. Too bad the guy was such a dick. He yanked harder when they reached the door frame, making sure he hit his head on the door stopper. Shouta released him out of his tape as if he was flapping dirt out of a rug. The dick-bag looked back at Shouta with a rage clear on his face. He started marching towards Shouta, but he thought it was time to show off his own hair. Like a cobra raising it’s hood, Shouta’s hair flowed menacingly at the man below him. He sneered and spit at Shouta, but walked away, grumbling to himself.
Shouta let his hair back down and sighed. He was no longer angry, just tired. He turned back into the coffee shop and sat at his original table. Luckily the folder was still there. Shouta had to be more aware next time. Tommy, now recovered from the display, walked over to hand Shouta his coffee. The kid looked awkward and suspicious all at the same time.
“Thank you…for that…” Tommy was looking away and gave Shouta a short bow. Clearly he wasn’t used to it. That could be because he was isolated from a young age and so never had to learn proper manners. Shouta was 92% sure the kid in front of him was Phantom.
“Anytime kid.” Shouta nodded at him, and he went back behind the counter. He must’ve felt Shouta’s eyes still on him since he grabbed a random cup and pretended to start cleaning it, still looking back and forth at him. Shouta turned his gaze down. This is the kid that freaked out Mount Lady and Kamui Woods? Shouta almost laughed.
No. Although he may seem like a kid, he was still an unknown. Of course he wanted him to join UA and get a chance at a life he clearly never had, but Shouta had to be ready for the very real possibility that he could still side with All For One. He couldn’t let himself get attached.
Still-Shouta was glad the kid was alright, customers can be such assholes sometimes. And despite the turn of events, Phantom didn’t seem to distrust him. He could use that. He was already a regular but now he had to be extra aware to come in when he was on shift. He really wanted Phantom to go to UA, not just for the Principle.
He took a sip of his coffee and then immediately almost spit it out. Phantom’s head whipped towards him, but he was able to get it down and smiled (although it probably looked more like a grimace). Only after the boy turned around again did Shouta unclench his jaw. How do you mess up black coffee that bad? It was thick like tar and had an overwhelming burnt taste, Shouta would rather drink liquified coal.
Shouta looked up to the heavens trying to summon however much strength it would take to finish it. That strength came in a little flask he kept on him (for the hard days), and he poured some of its contents inside. He took another swig and was almost able to convince himself the sharpness came from the whiskey. After he was done, he walked up the bin to put the dishes in and laid it down like a body into a grave. The cup didn’t deserve that…He nodded towards Phantom, Phantom nodded back, and left the café.
Maybe he should switch to patches.
Zzz
After he left the café, Shouta went back to UA. He had already messaged Principle Nezu about his encounter with the suspected Phantom. The maniac responded instantly and said that he would be waiting for him at his desk. Shouta always had the theory that Nezu lived there, in his office or some hidden room in the school, maybe both.
Luckily, the school was only a 5 minute walk from the café. Phantom was really considerate of Shouta’s routine, he now didn’t have to waste 5 hours a day scouring the city for him. Maybe Phantom wanted to go to UA and that’s why he was so close, Shouta laughed to himself sleepily. The coffee from before didn’t help at all. Another thought bubbled to the surface. Or maybe he was stalking the school. It was important to see both sides. The reason Shouta chose not to believe it was stupidity. An old but still meaningful quote rang in his ears, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" And the kid was also working at a coffee shop that was a short walk from his crime scene. If he did join UA, Shouta would have to teach him to be better aware of his surroundings. He smiled at the thought.
He made it through the building without any hassle. Some teachers liked to be there early even without the kids there. If Shouta wasn’t mistaken, they still had 2, no wait it’s a new day, 1 more day of internships left, then tomorrow to recover. Shouta would never admit it out loud, but he had started to miss the little shits, even Kaminari and Midoriya. He was about ready to expel them both for their stupidity. Midoriya because he’s always breaking something and Kaminari because just last week, he had to send him to the nurse’s office for stuffing hot sauce packets up his nose. Again. He hadn’t even used his quirk that day. Shouta was half convinced that the boy just used his quirk as an excuse. He’s been wanting to talk to his parents about making him wear a rubber helmet so he doesn’t fry the last few brain cells he has left. Shouta pinched the bridge of his nose at the prospect…
He passed by Power Loader’s workshop. The door was cracked open a little, letting smoke waft into the hallway. Students liked to blame Mei for all the accidents in that room, but Power Loader still has his mishaps. He says that mistakes lead to innovation, maybe that’s why Mei was so unrestrained in her learning. Power Loader was sitting at his work bench behind a fan drinking coffee. It was one of the rare occasions Shouta got to see more of his face. Even in work meetings he had something covering it, either his hair or a helmet. They nodded to each other, and Shouta went on his way. He had never been close with the man, seeing him more as a co-worker he was friendly with rather than an acquaintance, but the lure of coffee was tempting. He couldn't of course since he had news for Principle Nezu.
None of the other faculty members stopped him. Like with Power Loader, Shouta was pleasant with them but had no more than a working relationship with anyone in the office, except of course his husband and Nemuri, who he couldn’t escape from.
Although Yagi has been trying to get closer to him for some reason, he even brought him lunch one time. Shouta thinks it’s so he can get more information about Midoriya. He would be stupid not to notice the connection between them. Their ‘secret meetings’ weren’t so secret with Yagi shouting everything. Fortunately, he was able to lead any perked ears away from their conversations. He was pretty sure Midoriya was the next user (but he wasn’t supposed to let Yagi know he knew that). Before the pair had started at the school, Principle Nezu had informed Shouta of Yagi’s condition. He didn’t tell Shouta anything about the boy though, so it was either Nezu himself didn’t know or it had yet to happen.
Shouta was pretty sure some of Midoriya’s classmates had also noticed the connection, Bakugo and Todoroki being the main ones. Todoroki fortunately interrupted it as Yagi being Midoriya’s father, which was its own can of worms, but easy to sort out. Bakugo on the other hand seems to suspect the actual connection between the two. He was a smart kid, way smarter than people gave him credit for (Shouta just wished he used those brain cells to read a self-help book). He has recommended therapy or counseling to his parents before, but his mom seemed offended that Shouta brought anything up in the first place. Shouta would just have to help guide him like he has been doing.
He walked past one of the teachers' offices and a familiar face caught his eye. It was Nemuri. She was hunched over a stack of papers, probably old assignments from students that she forgot to grade. Today was one of the last days before the students returned and would be expecting those grades. She wasn’t the best at balancing hero work with being a teacher, but the students loved her. She scowled at the pile through her glasses.
Shouta walked faster, but he was too late. A pair of arms pulled around him from the back and wouldn’t let go.
“Shouta!!!!” She squeezed tighter around him and wiggled. Shouta grabbed her arms in an awkward hug and patted them. She let go after a moment and Shouta turned to face her. “How’ve you been? You haven’t been answering any of my texts, I mean, you usually don’t but you at least text back one word after a few days.” she teased.
Nemuri had always been a lifeline to Shouta. She pulled him out of the darkness more times than he could count. Early in Shouta’s hero career, he failed to save someone for the first time. He locked himself in his room and kept going over what happened, trying to find some way he could have saved them. He also kept thinking of Oboro, which only made things worse. He had stopped eating and not even Hizashi could pull him out of it. One day, Nemuri kicked down the door and dragged him out by his scarf. She, with the help of Hizashi, washed him up and untangled his hair. Shouta just broke down crying in the shower, wet and covered in suds. She just held him as he cried like a child. After he got washed up, she got him his favorite food and they all just sat in comfortable silence. She also convinced him to start therapy and even recommended someone. Shouta could safely say he might not be here without it.
“I’ve been doing patrols, as usual,” he responded simply. Nemuri laughed and elbowed him in the ribs.
“Oh come on! I’ve heard you’ve been training that kid from class 1-C, What was his name?” she put her finger on her chin in a dramatic pose.
“Shinso Hitoshi” Shouta walked into the office to find the coffee pot and she followed after him.
“Ah that’s right! He was the one who had the mind control quirk right? He lost to Midoriya in the 3rd round.”
“Brainwashing actually, and yes. He has a lot of potential and I think he would fit in 1-A, plus we have the same for it,” Shouta still has no idea how that one kid got into UA in the first place. Shouta expelled him the first day when he tried to peek into the girl’s locker room. That behavior was not appropriate for a hero and if he did manage to succeed, he would use his power to control women, and Shouta didn’t want that on his conscience. “I just have to find the right time to introduce him. The sooner the better before the gap is too wide, I can only do so much on our one on one time. I thought after the internships would be a good place, but then the testing got rescheduled and I don’t want to throw him into the deep end on his first day…” Shouta was thinking aloud to himself. This is a topic that has been cycling through his head for several days.
“That and I hear that your classroom is gonna get a major change soon” she winked. Of course she knew. When Shouta didn’t answer her, she continued, “Does it have something to do with your secret project with Principle Nezu?” Shouta signed.
He grabbed one of the cups by the coffee machine and poured some in. It was a green liquid and it smelled sweet. He looked over at Nemuri and she shrugged.
“I drink tea over coffee, you know this.” Shouta groaned and handed her the cup. “How generous, thank you” and she took a sip.
“I have to go talk to Principle Nezu…” He mumbled and stalked out of the office.
“Make sure to keep me updated on your class! ‘Zashi can only tell me so much!” She called after him.
Zzz
Without any more distractions keeping him, Shouta finally made it to Principle Nezu’s office. Nezu sat at his desk with his signature smile and his hands folded on the table. He was stock still, like a stuffed animal, but Shouta had gotten used to how the Principle acts to pay it much mind.
“Ah, good morning, Mr. Aizawa.” He greeted.
“Good morning, Principle Nezu” Shouta didn’t sit down, instead making his way to the coffee machine by the wall. There was a fresh cup waiting for him. He took it and eyed Nezu, who still smiled, then he sat down in front of him. “Sorry it took so long, I got distracted on the way here.”
“No worries at all. I never said a time to meet, just simply that I’ll be in my office.” Empty words. They both know the sooner the better for this kind of thing.
Shouta took a sip and gagged, decaf. It was still better than nothing. He took a seat across from Nezu and placed the coffee on the table and reached into his pocket, grabbing the manilla folder and the small baggie with the dirt he collected from the scene. Nezu took them both gently with his stubby arms.
“Detective Tsukauchi has already delivered me the folder, but this,” He held up the bag, “I had no clue of.” Shouta took a sip of his coffee, too ashamed to have kept the info from him, even if it slipped his mind.
“I collected it from the scene. It was in a dent away from the fight. It looked fresh. According to the report, Phantom was hovering over it before they attacked him.” Shouta’s fist clenched at the reminder. He wished he had found the boy first.
“And the bag itself?” Principle Nezu asked.
“I didn’t have anything else on me.”
“Very well. I shall run it through our lab to see what comes up. I can follow your line of logic in thinking that this could’ve had possible significance to Phantom, but it’s best to remain critical.” Shouta nodded.
“Of course. Now to move on to the other matter…” Principle Nezu’s back straighten even more, if that were possible, “After I completed my patrols for the night, “Nezu didn’t correct him that it was now morning, “I went to my usual coffee place where I saw a teen who looked a lot like the description of the boy from page 45, the one who ran into the heroes before the altercation.”
Nezu Hummed, “So you think this boy is Phantom?” It was rhetorical but Shouta still answered.
“I do. The way he moved and acted was also suspicious. It was clear that his clumsiness was intentional, and during an altercation between a customer-”
“He fought a customer?” Nezu questioned, his eyebrow quirked.
“No, I fought a customer.” Shouta stated. “He was being rude to Tommy, the name of the barista and suspect, and then splashed coffee on his face, at which point I intervened.”
“You seem more tired than usual, Mr. Aizawa”
“I wasn’t able to enjoy any coffee.” He took another drink of the miserable cup in front of him.
“Of course, whatever it takes to get you through the day,” Nezu teased. He had also tried to convince Shouta to stop drinking coffee so much. “Can you tell me anything about the interaction between you and ‘Tommy’”
“Our conversation at the start was quick, just me ordering a coffee,” Shouta thought for a moment, “although it was strange, he didn’t charge me for the cup.”
“Perhaps he recognized you? Or maybe he already feels a connection with you.” Nezu let out a small laugh.
“Doubtful. If he was truly raised by All For One, I would imagine him to be more disdainful or at least distrustful of heroes, especially after what happened last night. Although perhaps he also looks up to the heroes because of his father. He is a vigilante after all.” Shouta hasn’t had the time to think too deeply about what that could mean, but the more he did, the less he liked.
“Who knows,” Nezu definitely knew something and was hiding it. He would tell Shouta if it became important enough.
“I digress, shortly after I sat down the customer started harassing Phantom. At first it was just yelling and general insults, but I stepped in when it got physical. I dragged him outside and kicked him out.” Nezu nodded, “However, after the man spilled his coffee on Tommy, I noticed the boy’s eyes glow green, not unlike what it detailed in the reports with Phantom. That’s when I was convinced they were one in the same. Of course, there is always the possibility that the two are separate, but I do not think this is the case.”
“I would have come to the same conclusion myself.” Nezu agreed.
“After the altercation, Phantom handed me my coffee and thanked me. He seemed awkward about the exchange, though. I left shortly after and came here.”
“Thank you for your report, Mr. Aizawa. I hope I’m not asking you too much if you could write this all out for me with any other details you can remember. Even the most minor thing could be important.”
“Consider it done.” Sensing the meeting was over, Shouta stood up to leave. “I just have one question Principle Nezu.”
“And what's that?” His eyes gleamed.
“How many quirks does Phantom have?” The Nomu’s were no longer human after just 3, and this kid has displayed far more than that. They could be on a timer to save the boy before he was lost forever in himself.
“I do not know.” Nezu stated. Ice spread through Shouta and a weight settled in his gut. Even the principle doesn’t know? Shouta’s hands clenched into fists again. As much as he wanted to save the kid, he had to remember he was an unknown. He couldn’t let his emotions get in the way with that.
“You should probably get some rest, Mr. Aizawa. We both have a long few days ahead of us.” and with that, the meeting was officially over.
Shouta slowly walked out of the room trying to process the whole conversation. The Principle had clear faith that Phantom would indeed join UA, and so Shouta just had to trust him until proven otherwise. He hoped to whatever god that becomes a reality, for both Phantom’s and his sake. Until then, he would do his best to build his trust and extend a hand to the boy. It was his choice whether he would take it or not.
One thing was for certain, he would try to save the boy until he begged him to stop, even then he might push.
When Shouta got home, the house was empty. Hizashi was still at the studio for the morning radio. He was kind of relieved he was gone. He wasn’t ready to talk about the day he had yet. Still so many unorganized thoughts in his head. He collapsed onto the bed, not bothering to change his clothes or taking off his shoes; it was laundry day tomorrow after all, or was it today? Time had lost all meaning to Shouta a long time ago. He closed his eyes and thought about Phantom again. He will save him, even if he loses an arm in the process.
He closed his eyes and thought about Phantom again. He will save him, even if he loses an arm in the process.
“Damn it” he cursed into the still air.
He got attached.

Ask game for each mods Favorite AU's!
HEY HEY YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Mod Asphodel here! And my fave au rn is Cyberbites! (Look out for the Traditional esque Zine soon!)
1• Neito found out that he SemiPerma copies Quirks via Blood through accidentally drinking Himiko's Thermos. But he needs a fixed diet from people so he doesn't get overwhelmed
2• First time Izuku saw Shigaraki he actually had his costume on. Shigaraki sees this Spiked Leather bound kid crack his knuckles and grab a Red oak Bo Staff. Later along with the gun wounds he nurses a broken jaw and a new scar on his face from the nasty lil green punk.
3• Izuku has chains on his Hero outfit, They work extremely well as Capture Weapons.
4• Mr Compress and Twice are absolutely Terrified of Izuku after the Yakuza Arc
5• Dabi has a YouTube channel that actually pretty popular where he dances. Mina is a *Massive* Fan and Squealed when he showed up at dorms as the Midoriya Bodyguard
——————
Borealll here, my fav au humm, i adore bav au but! my favorite to gnaw on is Black Nightshade au! so...
One, it is very clear that the second pair of arms Izuku posses is stapled into him, specially since the skin tone have a contrast between the arms and his own face.
Two, here, it is an unfortunate necessary step for the subject to die for the noumu process to take hold, and it is fortunate that the non-sentient don't remember such great pain.
Three, Bakugou still have gone overboard in the exercise of heroics, rumour has it there was even an expulsion involved.
Four, Incredible as that may sound, Afo has no idea of things brewing under Izuku mind and that things might connect them even more...
Five, Toshinori is a bit touch starved, and also gives the best fucking hugs, it does not compare, he is warm and soft of course they are the best, and of course few people right now know that.
——————
Hi it’s Kiwi. Don’t have a favorite au really but the one I have the most brain worms about right now is the Pokémon au so let’s talk about that! (Also if you guess an OFA User’s Pokémon for their gym in the ask I’ll give 5 more headcanons)
1. Izuku and Bakugou’s starters are Larvesta and Buneary respectively. Larvesta was a gift from Izuku’s dad because Hisashi knows that Izuku will become an menace and get bored eventually if he gets a regular starter. Buneary was just found near Yagi’s lab trying to fight the man’s Pokemon and Bakugou pointed at it and says he wants that one as his starter and then caught it.
2. Aizawa is the Ghost Type Gym Leader. He does not advertise this and the only person who really knows this is Shinsou. Lovely surprise for the kids when he gets “kidnapped” by his Drifblim in the Ghost Type Gym.
3. Kaminari and Dabi had Rotom phones before said Rotom just turned into a regular on their team. Kaminari’s is called Nokia and both of them have the lovely habit of having 999 tabs open at all times and are dorks. Dabi’s is called Budget and blew up his phone when it decided they want to battle now and keeps on insulting Dabi and blowing up all phones he tries to get Budget in.
4. Hagakure, Ashido, and Aoyama are going on their Pokémon journey to complete Pokémon Contests across the region. They all give each other tips and try to be the best Contest Performer they can be.
5. The Elemental Plates to summon Arceus are with all the Gym Leaders of their respective type. They are all kept in separate places and more often than not the Gym Leaders don’t have it on them. This makes the fact that 7 gym leaders got kidnapped a lot more concerning.
——————
anterior! umm as of right now my favorite au is either WitS(Wonder in the Stars) or TLVC(Tanuki Leaves and Violet Clouds) but ive already done one of these for WitS so TLVC it is!
-sako has this habit of spinning his cane around like one spins and umbrella, oboro thinks its really cool but sako barely realizes he's doing it
-oboro has two cats one orange cat named sushi and one black cat named coal, if coal and sako were to ever meet coal would try to lay on his cape no matter how many times sako tells her not to
-shouta and hizashi are sick and tired of hearing oboro go on and on about how cool he thinks tanuki is, but they let him because well its really really funny to see people who dont know about oboro's "obsession" with tanuki walk up to them and ask what they're talking about
-sako has shelves of glass jars that are just full of nomu's that he's marbled, the jars are like mason jars and thus aren't huge but hes got like multiple shevles of nomu jars, everyday he thinks about getting rid of them and every day he reminds himself that if he does they'll cause way more problems(he wants to get rid of them, so so badly)
-shouta has nightmares about oboro never being saved from that nomu lab
and this headcanon applies to sako in bout all our aus
-sako really likes oreos, he has like a pack of them in a marble to carry around so he can share with people he befriends

Ori fic:
Today was a big day. Of Arcanette's plan to bring about eternal darkness, this was one of the very first steps.
Ori sat on atop a mountain overlooking Heleaks. She had an enchanted raincoat and multiple spells cast by Harvey to protect her.
She checked her pocket watch.
10:22
In just a few minutes, Trousseau was to lead Sally and Temm to a creek beside mount Liphia, and poison them there.
10:45
Ten minutes late and nothing had happened. In seconds, her mind was overrun with reasons why he was late.
She shook her head, "he's fine."
But she almost hoped he wasn't. If he got caught, at least he wouldn't have to kill his friends. He spoke endlessly about how perfect they were, she couldn't imagine he'd ever willingly hurt them.
11:07
"Please be safe, Trousseau," she murmured.
Oboro said he feared for her safety when she was gone. He always said he was scared of losing her, but she knew how the Moonshade order operated. His kind and loving words could've been just another script, like nearly every word she said to Trousseau.
She wanted to believe he loved her like a sister, despite their lack of a blood relation, but he never seemed excited to see her return or concerned when she was injured. It was also Harvey and Trousseau who held her when she cried in pain, or breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing her alive.
11:39
"Ori."
She nearly let out a cry in surprise but covered her mouth with her hand before she did. The townspeople hearing her could ruin the entire mission, and it was only Harvey anyway.
"Is Trousseau okay?!" she asked.
Harvey nodded, "he's just fine. I came to discuss something with you, and you have to answer now."
Hot, fiery dread filled Ori as her concern only grew.
"Trousseau and I are leaving Solistia because we want to be free from Arcanette, will you come with us?"
11:40
"We both want you to be safe and happy, but I understand if you'd prefer to stay here with your brother," Harvey continued.
Now was her chance to leave Oboro, to get away from the man who'd hurt her so much under the pretense of loving her like family.
"I-I-I-" she stammered.
I want to leave with you.
The sentence was perfectly formed in her head, why couldn't she just say it?
She could finally leave. Not just Oboro, but her wicked war torn homeland and Arcanette and her life of fear.
"Are you having a hard time talking?" Harvey asked softly, "would you rather write down your answer?"
She shook her head.
Get it over with, she thought, just say it, and it'll all finally be over.
She took a deep breath in.
"Please take me with you! I-I-I-I can't stay here, i-it's all so scary, I just want to leave!" she blurted out.
Harvey's face turned to a faint smile. He grabbed her hand, and they went together to meet Trousseau.
Harvey casting lots of protection spells on ori… HE CARES…
trousseau confiding in ori with how much he loves his friends is so sweet. AND ORI QUESTIONING IF OBORO’S CONCERN FOR HER IS GENUINE…. WAAAGGGH
ori and trousseau deserve the entire world and gods be damned harvey’s gonna give it to them

@musicfeedsmysoul12 and @lurking96 this is both of y’all’s fault with that thread about how too many fics where Izuku jumps, gets a quirk and just make Bakugo regret it without any actual character change. Just: Izuku goes splat, and now Bakugo is an uwu soft boy who’s really sorry but had no character development visible.
Y’all both get some of the blame for this fic outline I created after a bang, chocolate, and on 2 hours of sleep. It’s still a really rough outline and I don’t have time to polish it up into an actual outline, draft, then fic with my summer classes and job right now. Enjoy my stream of thought with no filter
The Ripple
Izuku has a concussion from Bakugo attacking him at school so his eyesight is off. Everything else is the same up to when All Might leaves him on the roof.
The concussion fucked with his vision, balance, and depth perception. So he ended up accidentally stepping off the side of the building. (Hush, I know that there’s a railing. We’re pretending that when All Might jumped away from Izuku on the roof, he accidentally took like half of it with him.)
Crash, boom, blood. Ambulance carted him off to the hospital and that’s the last we see of Izuku for a while.
They don’t know that All Might was the one who got him up to the rooftop because the notebook with the signature was blown off the roof and into the river. By the time that it was found, it was nothing but mush and the writing was illegible, all runny and blurry. They also just assumed that a villain ripped the railing off in a previous battle and the owner hadn’t gotten it fixed yet.
Inko tells Mitsuki that they think it was suicide because he couldn’t have accidentally gotten up on the roof (No evidence of All Might). Katsuki hears that but refuses to tell anyone that he told Izuku to jump off a roof because that could hurt his chances of being a hero.
Entrance Exam
Fast-forward to the entrance exam, everything proceeds as canon except for the bits with Izuku, which never happened.
Uraraka is stuck under the boulder with the zero pointer bearing down on her. Canon shows no evidence of any pro except Present Mic at the site, and he was last seen at the gates so he isn’t close by to Uraraka.
Uraraka couldn’t escape from the boulder in time and the kill switch takes up to 30 seconds to receive and process. So, the robot steps on the boulder and crushes her leg. She’s rushed to Recovery Girl but the damage is so severe that they have to amputate a leg.
As compensation, UA takes care of all the medical bills and offers her a spot in the Hero Course at UA with her entire tuition paid for all 3 years. Uraraka accepts to make it easier financially on her parents, so she shows up to the first day of classes with a prosthetic leg that she painted pink in an effort to make it less sad.
Quirk Assessment
A random extra is put into 1-A, but they and Mineta are promptly expelled. The extra just didn’t try at all, relying upon the idea that the teacher wouldn’t actually expel anyone on the first day. Mineta was just too pervy/not heroic enough so he got the boot.
Aizawa was reminded of the death of Oboro when Uraraka nearly got crushed, so he’s on high alert to expel those that he believes would never be good at heroics/ would just get themselves killed. Extra not trying and Mineta just focusing on being a perv, made him convinced they would get killed so he just expelled them straight away [No readmission for them]
This shocked Momo who thought he was bluffing and made her more cognizant of the fact that not everyone plays by the same rules as her.
Battle Trial
Battle trials happen. Momo and Uraraka are paired up together and fight twice in the trials. They won both times because Uraraka floated the bomb and Momo in the fight against Todoroki so that it was impossible for Todoroki to capture them. They win against Iida and Bakugo because Uraraka takes advantage of Iida’s unwillingness to hurt someone he views as disabled/helpless and knocks him out with a bat from Momo, then touches the bomb, Momo just created water and soaked Bakugo so he couldn’t use his Quirk and then ran from him.
All other trials proceeded as in canon.
USJ
Since Tsuyu is the only one in the Water Zone [Midoriya not in the story and Mineta expelled], she just went straight for the shore and got back to the entry area via the river. She witnesses the entire beatdown of Aizawa and his fighting, so she’s very traumatized. But because she’s amphibious and is completely underwater [In my hcs, she can breathe underwater as long as water can access most of her skin. So her suit is very permeable and water can get through it], Shigaraki never sees her and so he doesn’t try to kill her.
Rest of the USJ goes as canon dictates including Aizawa getting his head smashed by the Nomu
Sports Festival
Because 1-A has 2 less students, only the first 40 to get to the finish line can pass on. Todoroki ended up getting first place by icing over Bakugo’s legs at the tunnel entrance. Everyone else that originally passed in canon, also passed.
All the teams are the same, except for Uraraka’s team which doesn’t have Midoriya, and Shoji’s who doesn’t have Mineta.
Bakugo is going after Todoroki instead of Uraraka’s team because he’s focused on snagging the winning headband.
Uraraka uses her Quirk on her team and they just hang out in the sky for awhile, since after the boulder, she practiced to be able to lift more weight so that never happens again.
Shoji’s team is the same as canon, especially because Mineta never actually did anything important to the team.
Todoroki never uses his fire because he used his ice to create a dome that kept everyone else away from his team. Bakugo runs around stealing other headbands since he can’t get to Todoroki.
At the end of the round, Todoroki is in first, Bakugo is second, Uraraka is third and Shinso is fourth.
Ojiro and Shoda both drop out citing the fact that they couldn’t remember the event as the reason. Shiozaki Ibara and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu replace them
So now we have the 1v1 battles with the following students.
Uraraka Ochako
Tokoyami Fumikage
Hatsume Mei
Bakugo Katsuki
Kirishima Eijiro
Ashido Mina
Sero Hanta
Todoroki Shoto
Iida Tenya
Yaoyorozu Momo
Kaminari Denki
Shinso Hitoshi
Aoyama Yuga
Shiozaki Ibara
Tetsutetsu Tetsutestu
Shinso gets a free pass onto the next round because he is a gen ed student so they wanted to allow him the best chance possible and it’s better for the optics of UA for watchers to see a hero student beating up another hero student instead of a gen ed kid.
Todoroki v. Sero -Todoroki won ala iceberg
Kaminari v. Shiozaki  -Kaminari won by sending electricity through her hair and knocking her out because Aizawa forced him to start thinking outside of the box after he nearly died during the USJ [shiozaki has to have nerves to control her vines and nerves have electricity traveling through them. So they’re a conductor and Kaminari can send his electricity down them]
Iida v. Hatsume -He doesn’t accept her gadgets and just pushes her out of bounds. After the Uraraka debacle in his battle trial, he realizes that he can’t just go off his perceptions and has to be wary of them.
Ashido v. Aoyama - Ashido won
Tokoyami v. Yaoyorozu - Yaoyorozu won by creating an explosion of light and blinding them, then pushing them out of the ring. Uraraka taught her to take advantage of what she can do and Aizawa forced her to realize that others don’t have the same rules.
Tetsutetsu v. Kirishima - Kirishima won by charging Tetsutetsu and knocking him out of the ring. Again Aizawa forced him to not just behave as a shield because of the USJ
Uraraka v. Bakugo -Uraraka won by taking off her prosthetic, leaving it as a decoy and floating herself so that he couldn’t hear her coming, and the dust from his explosions had blinded him. She tackled him from above and hurled him out of bounds. He got a concussion and Recovery Girl forced him to stay in the infirmary.
Todoroki v. Shinso -Shinso won by coming after Todoroki’s weak spot and making him talk
Iida v. Kaminari -Kaminari won by shocking Iida’s engines when he tried to grab him. Made him collapse, and then just dragged him out of bounds.
Tokoyami v. Ashido- Tokoyami won by Dark Shadow kicking her out of bounds
Uraraka v. Kirishima -Uraraka won by preying on Kirishima’s desire for manliness and to not hurt a girl. Got close enough to float him and then just push him out of bounds. Aizawa has plans to lecture Kirishima about when to be manly and when to not be.
Shinso v. Kaminari -Shinso won. He could tell that Kaminari was a memelord, so he just took advantage of that and said a meme that Kaminari couldn’t resist completing. [Don’t know what yet, I’ll figure it out later]
Tokoyami v. Uraraka -Tokoyami won. Uraraka lost because she couldn’t use her Quirk on Dark Shadow and Dark Shadow was the one to attack her. [See doc of quirk analysis for more in depth in case we forget]
Shinso v. Tokoyami -Shinso won by mirroring Tokoyami’s speech patterns which knocked him off guard and got him caught into Shinso’s Quirk.
Shinso got first place, Tokoyami got second, Uraraka and Kaminari shared third place.
Hero names
Todoroki -Shoto
Bakugo -King Explosion
Iida -Tenya
Uraraka -Weightless [As a pun on weigh less because of her amputation and her quirk. She’s not quite as bubbly and didn’t feel like uravity reflected her anymore]
Tsuyu -Froppy
Kirishima -Red Riot
Yaoyorozu -Creati [I really want to change this but I don’t know to whaaaat!!! I’ll come back to it later]
Tokoyami -Tsukuyomi
Jiro -EarJack
Shinso -Silencer [Stupid but his quirk makes people silent plus I love MLB silencer design of the , not the helmet tho that is ugly looking and the coloring needs to be more muted imo]
Internships
Shinso gets an internship with Aizawa to assess whether or not he’s fit for heroics. Aizawa also prescreens all of his students' internships to make sure that it’s a good fit for them. [He’s a lot more protective of where they because he wants them to be actually learning useful heroics not shit like how to clean and pose for a camera.]
Mirko offers an internship to Uraraka because she wanted to teach a fighting girl that was perceived as helpless by society. [Society views disabled as helpless, a girl is also viewed as helpless, both is bad combination. Mirko wants to prove anyone can be badass with the right training]
Yaoyorozu gets put with Fatgum because Aizawa sees that she’s struggling with the fat part of her Quirk and knows that if she went with Uwabami, she’d develop more insecurities. [Uwabami is a TV actress/model. She’ll pass on weight/beauty related insecurities because that’s what a lot of actresses have and she seems focused more on a fanbase]
Kirishima goes with Rock Lock to be faced with the blunt truth that ideals are nice, but you can’t have them rule your life as a hero. [Canonly, he’s very blunt and pragmatic, so he’d believe that trying to be manly is fine, but there is a time and place for it.]
Everyone else goes with their canon internships.
The Nomus attack Hosu. Because Gran Torino isn’t there, the Nomus are more dangerous and more civilians die. All the heroes are focused exclusively on managing the Nomus and the interns kinda fall to the wayside since they can’t do anything.
Iida slips away and Manual is too busy putting out fires to notice.
Iida runs off and finds Stain. Battle commences and Iida loses.
Stain calls him and Native fake heroes. Native gets a sliced throat. Stain is a little more lenient with Iida because he is a kid. He goes through the fabric pants and slices the femoral artery to the bone. [Femoral artery cuts can lead to death within minutes especially with Iida running on adrenaline which kicks up the blood pressure and rate of bleeding.]
Endeavour comes through with Shoto burning all the nomus and destroying them. Finally the city is quiet and the search for the dead begins.
Every hero in Hosu grid searched the entire city to retrieve the dead and bring them to the morgue for claiming.
Manual was the one to find his dead intern and Native. He had to call UA and tell them that he got a student killed while under his supervision. He gets blacklisted by UA and Aizawa puts out a warning on the Underground network that if others are under his care, that he might lose track of them.
Once everyone returned from their internships, they left red spider lilies on his desk as a way to guide him to the afterlife.
Training Camp
The villains still want Bakugo because they saw his aggression, violence, and determination to be the best during the sports festival and the internships. So they think he’d be an easy switch to flip.
This time, Aizawa doesn’t dump them out in the middle of the forest because he’s focusing on forcing his students to interact and bond with each other instead of doing their own thing. So they all stay on the bus and Aizawa makes them talk about something semi-important with a seat partner for 10 minutes before switching so that everyone talks to more than just their friend groups.
When they arrive, Kota is his bratty self and Aizawa shuts that down fast. He tells him that he has two options, one: stay with his aunts and uncle or two: stay with Aizawa. Aizawa can’t have an itty-bitty child running around loose in the forest when 17 hormonal teenagers are letting off their Quirks which are dangerous. [it was an awful idea in canon to let Kota hide in his treehouse. Imagine if one of the kids near the mountain lost control of their quirk.] Kota chooses to stay with his aunts and uncle at all times because Aizawa is scary.
Once the training starts, he pairs everyone up with different partners to force their Quirks to improve.
Ashido-Kirishima to strengthen her acid and his hardening by hurling acid at him
Tokoyami-Kaminari-Aoyama to force Aoyama to maintain his laser beam for longer, Tokoyami to force him to strengthen Dark Shadow against light, Kaminari to power multiple light sources without burning them out and not going into whee mode so he can avoid the laser beam and Dark Shadow
Ojiro-Koda to force Koda to vary the animals that he calls and Ojiro to give him experience with fending off multiple opponents of varying sizes and skill levels without seriously injuring them.
Todoroki-Bakugo-Tsuyu to force Todoroki to be able to control both sides of his quirks and switch them easily, Tsuyu to force her to get accustomed to varying temperatures and making sure they don’t knock her out, Bakugo to force him to sweat more in both cold and hot temperatures so that he’s more versatile.
Jiro-Shoji-Hagakure to force Hagakure to improve her stealth and fighting, Jiro to make her be able to detect people sneaking up on her, and Shoji to improve his locating skills and stealth. [Shoji is a big boy and needs to work on stealth]
Sero-Sato to help Sero with his dodging and speed, and Sato to help him retain more of his planning and forethought while his Quirk is activated
Uraraka-Yaoyorozu to make Uraraka work on her sickness and weight limits and Yaoyorozu to adapt to planning on the fly and create items quickly.
Aizawa forces them to break away from their training partners when it’s time to make dinner and everyone is required to help in some way during the meal. The help can be gathering the ingredients, preparing them, doing the actual cooking, plating, setting the table, cleaning up after, anything as long as they contributed.
Repeat until the trial of courage.
Vlad wants to do the trial and Aizawa refuses to do it. Aizawa is actively trying to squash out the competitiveness of his students in order to make them work together and ask for help so that they’ll survive longer in the hero society. Uraraka lost a leg because people wouldn’t cooperate to help her in the entrance exam and Iida died because he was too focused on himself and didn’t ask for help. The trial would just reignite the competitiveness and ruin his progress.
1-B does the trial on their own while 1-A is given a maze they have to navigate.
The maze is created by Pixie Bob and is huge. It’s large enough that the students on the ground can’t peek over the walls to see the path. There are two students on the ground, the leader and the guide. The leader can see the walls and the turns but has earplugs in so they can’t hear the guide if the guide tries to talk. The guide can hear the directions from the person who sees the entire maze but is blindfolded and has to guide through tapping the shoulders of the leader. The person outside and looking down has to direct their team through the maze quickly without crashing into other teams. The leader can’t just guess a direction because Pixiebob will shift the maze if they try to do that so they can’t backtrack. It’s in teams of three so Aizawa is directing the last team. [Kinda inspired by survivor but with my own twist]
All of them rotate through each position with different teams each go round to impress on them the importance of all the roles.
In the last round, Bakugo was the person issuing instructions, cursing and screaming through the mic the entire time.
That’s when the villains attacked. But there were a few changes in the lineup.
Toga wasn’t there because the police picked her up and Inko got her case taken on to get her on parole and took her into her home when she saw her at the station while continuing with the criminal charges levied against the owner of the building that Izuku had fallen off of. The appearance of a girl bullied and ostracized for her Quirk, who was going down the path of no return, Inko saw Izuku in her. As such, she wanted to care for her and show her that villainy wasn’t the answer and that there are people who cared for her in spite of her blood Quirk. [Toga is stuck with Inko at this point in time and has a tracking anklet to make sure that she’s behaving. Rehab is going really well with the unconditional care that Inko is providing.]
Dabi got an infection and landed in the hospital ER as an unknown patient and wound up in a coma while his body was busy trying to fight the infection of his staples. [The man’s a walking open wound. You can sneeze in his general vicinity and have a high chance of taking him down in a couple weeks. Haven’t decided if I want to wake him up or not. Depends on my feelings]
Mustard joined the attack via Toga due to them being closer in age and talking. No Toga, no Mustard. [He’s sulking in detention right now.]
So the only ones left are Mr. Compress, Magne, Spinner, Muscular, Moonfish, Twice and the Nomu. Much smaller and no long-range attacks.
Their mission is to get in, extract Bakugo and get out with minimal damage. That’s what happened.
Muscular, Moonfish, and the Nomu all rampage on the opposite side of the mountain to draw attention to them. Magne and Spinner break up the 1-A class and drive them apart. Twice and Mr. Compress work together to snatch up Bakugo in a marble and then they all book it. Muscular and Moonfish are both left behind to keep the heroes distracted long enough for them to get back to Kurogiri and through the portal. Nomu ended up buried in a mountain via a very anger Tiger at the disruption of his naps. The students all worked together to try and bring down the villain to retrieve their classmate, but when that failed, Yaoyorozu managed to attach a tracker to the villains top hat.
Injuries were minimal and the three heavy hitting villains were arrested and locked up. The only casualty was Bakugo being kidnapped.
Kidnapping Arc
Blah, blah, join us you can be stronger and win a villain-Shigaraki
No, fuck off, go fuck yourselves-Bakugo
Repeat until All Might shows up
Then AfO activates goop Quirk [really need a better name for that. better than vomit transport quirk at least. That was my first thought], drags the league and Bakugo to him. Bakugo is held by him, hand on his temple ready to crush him.
Rest of Heroes all show up on the battlefield but aren’t moving so that Bakugo doesn’t get hurt. Essentially a stand off.
You know, you can tell whether or not someone has the potential for villainy by their greatest regret -AfO
AfO has a quirk that allows the user to see someone’s greatest regret, with more details the longer that the quirk is activated. He also has a quirk that allows him to project whatever he’s thinking about in a video format for everyone to see. [the man is old. he probably had a habit of taking whatever quirk he wanted when he was younger before all might turned him into a very ugly potato/alternate darth vader]
Quirks activate and it’s the scene of Bakugo telling Izuku to get jump off a building spliced with the news from Inko that Izuku was suspected of jumping off a building
Interesting. Why is that your greatest regret?-AfO
Quirk gives him more details.
Bakugo only regrets saying that because if it ever became public, he'd never reach the spot of number one hero which is his only goal in life.
Guess you are nothing but a villain after all. Too obsessed with yourself to see the damage you caused.-Afo
Afo shoved the boy away from him and forcibly activated Kurogiri’s Quirk to allow the league to escape.
Every hero on site is frozen in shock at the reveal of what a hero student of UA, the most prestigious hero school that graduated most of the top heroes in Japan, actually believed.
At that point, AfO flips All Might the finger and just goes through the portal because the news would shake society’s faith in UA which is really good. He can kill All Might later. [or just wait for any infection to take the man out. He lost his stomach so he probably lost his spleen too which is kinda important for the immune system.]
Fallout
Bakugo is booted to gen ed because Aizawa refused to teach someone that was just going to end up hurting someone later in life. Because Aizawa is an Underground Hero who specializes in information and predication, schools tend to believe in what he says about the potential/future of heroes in training especially when he has evidence to back up his beliefs. So no other school will take him on as a hero student.
Bakugo is essentially blacklisted from heroics because everyone wants to believe that a hero is good and just. And when the illusion is broken before it has a chance to solidify, they have no chance of becoming a hero.
Aizawa goes and apologizes in person to Inko. Because even though he had no way of knowing, he feels like he should have recognized the abusive tendencies and/or egocentrism  of Bakugo earlier. So, allowing it to continue was a slap in the face to his victims.
Inko accepts his apology because she didn’t know about it either so how could she blame him when she was closer and still missed all the signs. She offers to let Aizawa visit Izuku because Eraserhead was one of his favorite heroes because of how much skill he had. But because Eraserhead was underground, he didn’t have any merch or enough information to write about him.
*Split path here depending on the angst level I want
1. Izuku is in a coma, all healed up, just hasn’t woken up. When they came, Izuku had just woken up a half hour ago so the doctors were busy checking all his vitals, memory, joints, etc. Inko cries, Aizawa stands away because he’s allergic to emotions, and Izuku is just silently fanboying because he sees one of his favorite heroes.
2.Izuku is in a coma and doesn’t wake up. Inko introduces Aizawa to him and tells Aizawa about his dreams and his story. Aizawa makes sure that at least once a week, he comes and visits to talk to him. He also brings other heroes to introduce to Midoriya to make sure that others know about him.
3.Aizawa and Inko go to a graveyard and the name Midoriya Izuku is carved into a family grave marker with flowers and an All Might figure in front of it. Inko tells Aizawa that Izuku died from falling from the building. They thought he jumped randomly, but with the new info, Inko is thinking that Bakugo might’ve pushed him verbally over the edge. Aizawa promises to investigate more.

Here’s what I wrote for the request- it was ‘anything for Oboro, he deserved so much better’ so I did just that!
You don’t even remember how or why you had caught his eye, you were picking up some dropped papers when an offering hand came to help you. The hands looked soft and warm, you were almost tempted to reach out and grab it right then and there. You would have if it weren’t for the stack of papers already occupying your hand. “Ah thank you, sorry about this.. I tripped over.. Whatever it was..”
The kind stranger just chuckled and looked up at you, his cloudlike hair shifting to adjust to his movements. He has a large grin on his, and he let out a chuckle, holding some test results you’d received today. “Hey it’s no problem, we all have our off days after all.”
His voice was smooth and comforting. It was a voice you’d like to hear often, comforting you on your bad days and praising you for getting good test results. It was everything one could dream for in your opinion. Best of all is his face matched the comforting tone of his voice, you’d stare at it longer if you didn't mind appearing weird.
You let out an awkward chuckle, picking up some more papers. “Yeah.. heh.. Except for I suppose everyday is an off day, nothing seems to go right.. I mean now here I am, making a waste of a student's time.. I can tell you’re in the hero course as well, so I really shouldn’t be wasting the time of a future hero..” You sighed, aware of how precious heroes needed time to prepare before the true moments of glory. You were just a student in the department of support, your quirk didn’t do much regardless.
Your attention was brought back when you heard a laugh from the boy in front of you. You didn't understand what was funny but you put the remaining papers away. “Im sorry! Really! I just think someone with such a pretty face like yours shouldn’t have to worry about others! I mean how have I not heard of you before? You have the beauty to be the most popular student in the school!” The boy exclaimed, putting some papers in your bag as well, but not without getting a view of your name first.
“Well.. I’m usually out of sight so people might fall under the ‘out of sight, out of mind’ rule..” You mumbled, standing up and holding a hand out to him. He could only smile and take it. “If that’s whatcha say! But seriously, you're amazing looking! And your name only compliments your beauty!” The boy praised, now standing as he kept your hand in his but said nothing about it.
“But I guess the gentleman thing to do is to tell me my name then huh Y/n? Cause you ain’t forgetting it after today! It's Shirakumo Oboro!”
You let out a sigh, the memory making your smile grow. You heard a chuckle from your left, sighing softly and giggling a little yourself. You already knew why Shirakumo was laughing, which made you laugh to yourself. “Y’a keep spacin’ out and i might send you to space! Send you up on a cloud!” He joked, it wasn’t a joke you hadn’t heard before, nor had you never heard him say it.
“Yeah? I’ll bring you a souvenir back then” You joked, gently elbowing him in the chest. You loved him, you just couldn’t put that love into words. You wanted to tell him, but you had just decided that you were lucky enough that he even spent as much time with you as he did already and you didn't want to lose said time, however you still had set up preparation in case you decided to confess. However as these thoughts clouded your head, your smile also slowly left your face and you felt shifting underneath you.
“Hey what happened to your pretty smile Y/n-San? You okay?” Shirakumo softly asked, his usual playful smirk now shifted into a soft one. His hands gently hold each of your shoulders. You couldn’t help but just pray that the blush that was certain to come, would be missed by his watchful eyes, and it appeared it had been.
“Yeah, don’t worry about it, I got lost in my thoughts again somehow!” You laughed, smiling once more. You loved his sincerity and worry over you. He truly was the one you wished you could call your love. You unfortunately felt his hands leave your shoulders, and they quickly ran cold. You missed his warm self, and wanted to leap into his chest and never leave. “Hey.. promise me something Shira-” “Oboroooo” You were cut off by him correcting you to use his first name. You had yet to do so but today you decided to give into his wishes.
“Fine then, Oboro please promise me this one thing.. When you get to your locker tomorrow, make a thorough inspection before you leave for you head off to that agency you’re planning to intern under. Would you do that for me?” You asked, your face shifting from a large smile to a soft and hopeful grin.
Shirakumo thought for a moment before grinning and crossing his arms, you felt some anxiety building, you were worried of a direct proposal so you had decided to leave a note for him, proclaiming your true feelings and your admiration for him. You had it signed and made the envelope ensure it would catch his interest for when he received it. You just could only hope he both wouldn’t forget and would return your feelings.
You stared nervously at your school. UA. You delivered the note after Shirakumo left and now all that's left to do is wait for the end of the day to see him again. Slowly you walked up the steps, each one felt like a spike in your anxiety. You slowly approached your locker and got ready for your first class when suddenly the announcement went through the entire school. You dropped your things, and felt warm tears start brimming in your eyes.
Oboro died. You had arrived during lunch because of pure fear of being rejected but now, you felt as though it was your fault. You began crying and recollected your stuff, running to the agency. It luckily wasn't too far although the rain slowed you down certainly. You saw the scene, it was all horribly wrecked and you could see everyone there with gloomy faces. You saw Shirakumo’s speaker in someone's hand, you didn't care who but you grabbed it and sobbed. It was broken, Just like your faith in finally being happy. The boy you loved died before you got to know if he had wanted to return your feelings.
About two days after the funeral, Yamada had approached you and confessed that Shirakumo had always told them about you, and when he found the letter he too had cried, but not the same way you had cried over him. He had been planning out a confession but kept deciding that everytime he came up with one, he’d deem it unworthy of you and would start over again. Your words had made him happy, and he began drafting a letter in response. Yamada gave the draft to you.
‘Y/n, I can’t imagine how you managed to actually fall for a dumb dork like me. You’re truly the most responsible, charismatic and beautiful person life has ever let me lay my unworthy eyes upon. I don’t know when you get this but what I do know is that I love you more than any may bare and aphrodite could comprehend. You’re truly the spark my life didn't know it had been yearning for. I love every flaw you hate about yourself, and I wish to kiss them until you see the true beauty in them. I hope that this letter reaches you in good conditions, and that one day we can soon teach children of our own how to make the awesome inventions you make, and I can teach them the truths of being a hero. Please accept this letter of my returning feelings and know that I love you.

I have so many bnha fanfic ideas, they’ve just been popping into my head every few days for weeks now
So I’m just gonna share them all on this one post instead of making a million new fandom posts out of nowhere (ok, it’s closer to, like, ten - but still!)
If any of y’all want me to actually write any of them, don’t hesitate to say so - or if you just want to ask questions and talk about the ideas I’d be totally down for that too
Also, if any of them inspire you to write or draw something, please send me a link when you’re done!
(under a readmore cause it’s long and also there’s spoilers)
Fae courts AU
Nedzu - Spring King
U.A. / The Spring Court - also known as the Court of Lost Children, all members of the Court were once human children or children of one of the other Courts and they view it as their duty to care for the lost, neglected, and abused children of the world (one of two child stealing Courts)
All Might - Summer King
All For One - Winter King
Objectively, the Summer and Winter Courts are not as different as they like to believe - a Summer fae is just as likely to trick or turn on you as a Winter fae, they just prefer to play at benevolence while Winter fae make no secret of their nature
Shie Hassaikai / The Autumn Court - used to be more like a lesser version of the Summer and Winter Courts, until Overhaul put the King to sleep and made his research into humanity the Court’s focus - they’re now the second child stealing Court
Eraserhead was once human but has made enough deals over the years - most notably with Nezu himself - that he’s practically fae now
Deku and Kachan are human children who were taken in by the Spring Court, though Deku only after catching the attention of All Might
Endeavor - High Fae in the Summer Court - wants to become Summer King but knows he’s not powerful enough to overthrow All Might, married a High Winter Fae in hopes that combining their powers would make one of their kids powerful enough
Dabi fakes his death and eventually becomes a High Fae in the Winter Court
Shouto seeks sanctuary in the Spring Court’s halls
(I don’t actually have a plot for it, but I’m enjoying figuring out the world and stuff)
Evil All Might AU
The underworld knows that young Yagi Toshinori is a con-artist, and a very good one
The kid’s quirkless, and from a bad neighborhood, so of course he gets involved in shady dealings to get by
But he never ever gets caught
See, he’s mastered the eager, innocent, “I know I’m quirkless, but it’s my dream to be a hero! To fight crime! To be someone people can look up to, put their faith in! To be a… a symbol!” act, he’s been running that con any time he’s found in the wrong place at the wrong time since he first started walking - no one with even a single good bone in their body ever questions it
He gets involved with AFO, who’s like “I could give you one of my lesser quirks in exchange for your loyalty, or you could do a long undercover mission for me and get one of the most powerful quirks in existence out of it”
His mission: pulling his signature con on Shimura Nana, being given One for All, becoming a hero, becoming the Number One Hero and Symbol of Peace and the singular pillar holding up hero society, maintaining that status for long enough that everyone grows a little complacent, finding a weak and manipulable child to pass One for All on to, setting them up to fail, and then retiring
(I’d either have this one be All Might-focused and end with the reveal, or have it be Izuku-focused and give it a happy ending where All Might totally chose the wrong kid, cause nothing about Izuku is weak)
Commission analyst Izuku au
Member of the commission overhears him muttering/catches a glance at his notebook while watching a hero fight, strikes up a conversation
The commission tracks him down, shows up at his home with a similar offer to the one they gave Hawks - but instead of a hero they want him to be an analyst for them
Like Hawks, they take away his name, only calling him something like Eagle Eye or something (I’d go with Hawkeye but Hawks already exists so it might be weird?)
(Basically this fic idea is just an excuse to have Izuku and Hawks as the ultimate team, and helping each other get out from under the commission’s thumb - maybe revolutionizing hero society along the way)
Canon rewrite w/ Monoma as main character, somehow
All I have for this one so far is just:
Monoma copies afo, uses copied afo to steal afo, AFO is now defeated
After getting better at controlling her quirk, Eri rewinds Kurogiri back into Shirakumo Oboro
But he’s the age he was when he died
So he joins the current class 2-A
As in Izuku’s class
Basically it’s just his old best friends having to teach him and him making friends with all Aizawa’s problem children
Time travel
(I have multiple cause I really like time travel)
Aizawa-centric time loop fic
Loop stretching from day before Oboro’s death to towards the end of the liberation war (diverging from canon in at least the first loop cause he fucking dies during the fight)
At first he thinks maybe he just, like, dreamt up those 14(?) years
But then things are happening the same way and so he starts changing things and he dies and wakes up the day before Oboro’s death again
He experiments a lot with the loops, figuring out that they’re definitely not time based - unless it’d loop back at the end of the liberation war even if he survives? Requires further testing
Details he changes throughout the loops (culminating in a loop in which he successfully changes all of them):
Oboro’s death
Shimura Tenko being taken in by All for One, All Might’s injury(?), Izuku accepting One for All, and more I haven’t fully decided on
Time travel fic where Pro Hero Deku accidentally time travels back to just before Aizawa’s first year as a student at ua and somehow gets hired as a teacher
Gonna be a two-parter
Part one: Izuku has to teach teen versions of his old high school teachers, channels their future selves a little
Part two: Aizawa, Yamada, and Kayama have to teach the teen version of their old favorite high school teacher, and end up channeling his future self - in different ways
(I’ve come across a couple different “Izuku gets accidentally sent back in time to when his teachers were students” fanfics and they keep making me think about how Aizawa & co would react to meeting him in canon timeline after meeting him in high school and then I took the natural step forward from there to “let’s parallel their nostalgia, make him their high school teacher so it can really hit hard”)
Izuku is related to rooftop trio aus
(I’ve come across a bunch of “Izuku is the biological son of at least one member of the rooftop trio” aus but only one acknowledges that in canon he’s only 15 years younger than them and that one has a very angsty explanation, so I wanted some that fit with canon and also aren’t too heavy - cause like, sure you could go with the complex extremely angsty trauma reason or you could go with the “these 13-16-year-olds(idk Inko’s canon age and as long as I never look it up I can pretend I’m not going against canon by making her only 2-ish years older than them) did what teenagers do and went to a party and made some relatively innocent mistakes and ended up with a pregnancy”)
Dadoro
Oboro and Inko have been neighbors and best friends their whole childhood, despite being a couple years separated in age
The fall before Oboro starts high school, Inko takes him along to a party with her high school friends
They get drunk and sleep together
Inko gets pregnant
They talk it through with each other and their families and agree to keep the baby (they’re both actually pretty excited to be parents) and raise it together platonically
Some months into first year (maybe second), Oboro tells his friends about his kid
Spends the rest of his life gushing about Izuku to all his friends (sorry for the word choice fjdhshshx)
Oboro dies and his friends make pact to help Inko take care of Izuku once they have steady income and stuff
But Inko’s family has moved and she’s married and they can’t find her
They keep searching, for roughly 14 years
And then Midoriya Izuku enrolls in UA’s hero course and his big green eyes and curly green hair match the pictures Oboro used to show them and his smile is identical to their old friend’s
And his mom’s name is Inko
But they’re not sure (His quirk doesn’t match Oboro’s nor his Inko’s after all)
Not until after the first term and the summer training disaster camp and Kamino, when All Might and Aizawa go house to house talking to parents about the dorms and All Might tries to insist on visiting the Midoriyas alone but Aizawa insists right back cause this is the closest he’s come to confirmation
and then he’s face to face with a woman he’s only ever seen in photographs
And then they talk about everything or something idk I haven’t got that far
Dadzawa and Dadmic (trans!aizawa)
A year and a half before he starts high school(I know I changed the timeline a whole year here but shush, how’s he supposed to get into U.A.’s hero course while pregnant?), Aizawa’s middle school and one or two others have a Joint Event, at which he meets a loud but cute blonde who keeps flirting with him
They hook up
He gets pregnant
His dad insists he get an abortion but he doesn’t want to and his mom supports his decision, they convince his dad to let him go through with the pregnancy on the condition that he gives the baby up for adoption immediately
He has twins, both boys (one with green eyes like the blonde’s(but darker) and the other with purple like Shouta’s mother’s)(that’s right, Shinsou is also their son in this, you’re welcome), and he gives them up for adoption to separate families
But with conditions
No one from his blood family is allowed to initiate contact with either boy without the kid’s knowing consent (he’s terrified of his father changing his mind, tracking them down, and hurting them)
With the one exception being that he’s allowed to send each one a birthday present and card every year
Which he does
Then he starts at UA and then gets into the hero course and there he is… the blonde… the father of Shouta’s children… who does not recognize him now that he’s started transitioning
This time Shouta’s the one who flirts - or tries to, the kid’s a little too oblivious
Of course they do eventually get together, and even end up married! (Haven’t decided if they get together during high school or after they start teaching there or what(probably the latter, for plot reasons))
The first time Midoriya Inko contacts Shouta is after Izuku is diagnosed quirkless - she knows the young man loves her son as much as she does and might be able to reassure him where she already failed
His next birthday, Izuku’s mystery card says he can be a hero even without a quirk; it makes Izuku’s year
Hitoshi’s parents also contact Shouta that year, the boy struggling to make and keep friends ever since his quirk came in; Shouta’s birthday card to him isn’t much different from Izuku’s, really
The Shinsous get in an accident and Hitoshi is placed in foster care and suddenly Shouta can’t send him his yearly gift and card anymore cause nobody will tell him where the boy is now because of the contact portion of the adoption contract
They also won’t tell Hitoshi that he was adopted and his birth father is out there looking for him, so Shouta’s pretty sure they’re trying to hide that he’s being mistreated wherever he is
Inko continues to contact Shouta now and then whenever she thinks Izuku will need extra encouragement come his birthday (she never tells Izuku about being adopted - even after he enters his teen years - cause after his diagnosis, everyone but her left him and she doesn’t want him to internalize the idea that his birth parents didn’t want him - Shouta’s not happy with the decision, but he understands)
Then one year he sends Izuku a Present Mic figurine and she writes him to share how excited the boy was and how Present Mic is one of his favorite heroes and he listens to his radio show all the time and Shouta simultaneously melts and has a minor breakdown at the realization that he hasn’t told his husband that they have sons, he can’t tell Hizashi that their son listens to his radio show regularly when Hizashi doesn’t know Izuku even exists
So of course, being the rational man he is, he finally tells Hizashi about Izuku and Hitoshi
Hizashi freaks, of course (in a good way(mostly))
And then, one of the worst days of Shouta’s life
He’s on patrol and sees a figure on a rooftop and rushes to get there - just in case it’s a jumper - and it’s his son, his Izuku
They talk(it doesn’t breach the adoption contract, he didn’t know it was Izuku when he approached and the kid spoke first) and Izuku tells him “everything” about his encounter with All Might, Shouta tells him to tell his parents - they’re there to support him - and also that All Might’s full of shit and a quirkless hero is totally possible with the right training and enough willpower
Then after they leave the rooftop his kid gets in trouble again, rushing in to save a classmate from the same sludge villain that attacked him earlier that day
Of course Shouta swoops in and pulls the kids out of danger before All Might arrives to “save the day”
This time Shouta insists on walking Izuku home to make sure he actually gets there safely
But then All Might shows up again wanting to talk to his kid privately and he wants to tell the man to fuck off but he’s not legally allowed, really, so when Izuku says it’s fine he reluctantly leaves
Inko asks to meet him just days later
She tells him that Izuku told her everything about what happened that day - including what Shouta told him - and she tells him that she’s realized she needs to properly support her son in pursuing his dream
She understands that Shouta wouldn’t feel comfortable training him one-on-one with the kid not knowing who they are to each other, and she’s still not ready to tell him yet, so she asks for a list, for him to help her get in touch with people who can train Izuku or ways for Izuku to train on his own, ways for her to help
He puts her in contact with seven pro heroes (Midnight, Gunhead, the Wild Wild Pussycats, and - somehow - Sir Nighteye) and a vigilante team (the Naruhata Crawler and his team), all of whom he talks into helping - and has to tell about his connection to this boy they’ll be teaching
(Each have something important to teach him: Midnight - using words and body language to throw off opponents, Gunhead - martial arts, Wild Wild Pussycats - stamina, teamwork and use of your environment when out in nature, Sir Nighteye - analysis and planning, the Naruhata Vigilantes - use of gadgets and weapons, use of your environment when in the city, having the heart of a hero, and - most importantly - that quirkless people can be fucking strong and skilled and terrifying and certainly aren’t weak or useless (they were trained by a quirkless vigilante after all, they’re bound to have a different perspective on the idea of a quirkless hero than anyone else, a perspective Izuku could really benefit from))
Ten months later, Izuku passes UA’s entrance exam and is placed in Shouta’s class (he’s pretty sure Nezu did that on purpose)
When the school year starts, he and Hizashi discover that Izuku isn’t the only one in one of their classes - Hitoshi is in Hizashi’s homeroom
They are, of course, fucking extatic
They just need to, y’know, figure out how to tell him that they’re his parents and maybe possibly would love custody of him if he wants
(Again I haven’t gotten any further than that yet)
(Also, if you can’t tell, in this au Izuku turns down All Might’s offer of One for All, cause Eraserhead said he could be a hero without a quirk and was honestly a lot kinder and more responsible (like, making sure the kid got home safely instead of leaving him on a roof) and stuff than All Might and honestly might be his new favorite hero)

Pleeeeease since you did Mirio can you do Omega Tamaki and Omega Aizawa ^0^
(Of course! I knew it was a matter of time before I got asked to do Aizawa so I kind of went all out
Shouta Aizawa
(TW: Mention of Teen Pregnancy and Miscarriage)
Tumblr media
Nobody in class 1A had known that their homeroom teacher was an Omega, but looking back on it, it made sense. He was fierce when it came to protecting his students and made it clear that he would give up everything in order to keep them safe. His scent of coffee was just something the students had gotten used to, not considering it to be the scent of an omega since it wasn’t stereotypically sweet, and when you thought about it, that sleeping bag he carries everywhere may be his form of a nest since he clearly is rather too lazy to make a proper nest, or too lazy to clean it up when he has to put it away.
His low testosterone caused by being an omega also explains his overall lack of energy since lack of testosterone in males often causes sleeping issues, and even sleep apnea. Because of the downsides of being an omega, he takes testosterone injections at the cost of his fertility. Yes, he decided after high school that if he were to be a hero, he would need testosterone, but his doctors do say that if he ever decided to have kids, he could stay off of it for a while and let his body go back to how he used to be. He would experience a heat cycle (Another thing he hasn’t had to deal with for years) and then could start attempting. For now though, that was completely out of the question just because of his past. Something nobody knew about.
Despite his friends' attempts to set him up with somebody, everyone seemed to run away after hearing about his infertility and lack of desire for kids. He never really blamed them since he knew everybody wanted that ideal lifestyle. Get a mate, possibly get married too, have a kid and grow old. Yet here he was, choosing not to have kids because he wasn’t sure if he could handle it.
He sighed softly seeing Hizashi with a very familiar look on his face. “What do you wan-” “I found the perfect alpha for you! Seriously Sho, the best part is that they already know you too!” Shouta instantly rolled his eyes and looked back down at the tests he was grading. “And who might that be?” The second your name left the loud blonds’ lips, Shoutas’ eyes opened a bit wider than they usually did.
You were in his class with Hizashi, so you both used to be close. Really close actually. When Hizashi noticed the others' silence, he cheered because he hadn’t protested to the idea yet. “Come on Sho! They’re relocating here since they got a new batch of heroes in Tokyo, and they got tired of it being a competition.” The Omega hummed and sighed, sitting up a bit. “Don’t call it a date, that is the last thing I want right now, but let them know I do want to meet up. It’s been a long time, and I want to see where they’re at now.”
Hizashi cheered again and quickly ran out of the room, Shouta assumed to tell Nemuri, leaving the Omega to his own thoughts. He sighed softly and laid his head down on the desk for a moment as memories came flooding back. Specifically the ones during the summer between 2nd and 3rd year. Neither of you had told anybody, but you were courting.
Late night dates in downtown Tokyo resulted in hours of the two of you hopping from hidden cafe to hidden cafe, enjoying each other as you used each other to forget about stress. Sneaking into each others bedrooms to cuddle and talk resulted in the both of you getting caught and scolded by your parents, but neither cared since they knew they would do it again.
Then it came back to his memory. The night where he had a nightmare about Oboro and went to seek you for comfort. It only ended up with you both going too far, yet at the time neither regretted it. It wasn’t until he sat in Recovery Girls office that he regretted what he did.
A hand slipped across his stomach and he shut his eyes as he gripped his shirt. Nobody ever knew except for you, and his omega wanted nothing more than you the second Hizashi said your name. His scent went from strong coffee, to burnt as he remembered hearing the news that the baby, the one neither of you had planned for, wasn’t there anymore. After that, he pushed you away and tried to avoid you by focusing only on his goal to become a hero. He never coped with any of it, just pushed it back down to ignore, but it was all coming back to him.
The students seemed to notice the horrible smell coming from Aizawa, but not one dared to mention it in fear of him snapping at them. At the end of the day, Midoriya seemed to pack up a little slower than usual and waited for everyone to leave before approaching his teacher.
“M-Mr. Aizawa, Are you okay?” He asked softly to the man who rested on his desk. He slowly sat up and looked at the other, seeing how he seemed to tremble under the intense gaze. “No, but don’t worry. I just have to deal with something that I completely neglected.” He slowly stood up and grabbed the sleeping bag before sighing. “Midoriya,” The boy hummed, wondering what the other would say. “Thank you for checking on me.” Aizawa walked past him and ruffled the green locks as he left the room. Midoriya couldn’t help but smile. He smelled like normal coffee again.
When he got home, his Omega told him to clean himself so he at least didn’t look undesirable. He huffed, telling himself he wasn’t trying to be desirable, yet he did so anyway. He showered, trimmed up his stubble, and put on some nicer clothes. Nothing crazy, just a black long sleeve and some grey jeans. Once he had finished, he had realized how much effort he was putting into his appearance and sighed softly, upset because he was ignoring what his Omega wanted.
He felt himself growing anxious as he headed towards his destination only to scoff a bit as it was a little hole in the wall. You would easily pass this place if you didn’t know what it was. As he walked closer, he saw you standing there. You were obviously as anxious as he was, but you didn’t hide it as well. You never did.
The second your eyes met, his Omega was scratching at his chest, yelling at him to run into your arms, but he kept himself calm as he approached you. When you opened your arms cautiously, he carefully slipped into your hug before subconsciously snuggling into your scent gland like he had done years ago. He pulled away after saying hello and followed as you walked inside.
The date itself was pretty awkward at first since you both knew a lot about each other already, yet almost nothing at all. He watched as he picked up on all of your nervous habits, smiling a little when he realized that you were still so similar to how you used to be. “Do you want to hold my hand?” He asked without thinking since it was something he knew would help calm your nerves. You instantly nodded and took it before smiling a little. “They’re still so rough. Do you even know what lotion is?” You joked a little, happy to see that it made the other grin a little. “I kind of forget about it until one of my students brings some in. Normally it smells disgusting though, so I had to start threatening them with extra homework if they bring in things that gave me a headache.”
That started the conversation of UA and how you were surprised when Hizashi said that he was a teacher. “You’ve always been a natural teacher though. I know you taught me a lot when we were together.” You spoke freely before tensing up when you realized your words. Aizawa sighed a little and squeezed your hand softly. “Yeah...You taught me a lot too.”
Another round of silence before you spoke again. “Hizashi also said that every date he or Nemuri set you up on failed miserably.” Shouta only smiled a little before nodding. “Majority of them were Alphas who only wanted to mate with a pro-hero. My guess is in hopes of having strong kids. Most left during the date once they found out I didn’t want kids or that I take testosterone since that also pretty much renders me infertile.” This time you held his hand a little tighter. “Well they don’t know what you went through. Not only that, it’s your body. Since that is what you wanted, that is what you did and you shouldn’t be treated badly because of it.”
He noticed how you seemed upset by him saying that they just left and couldn’t help but smile a little. “It makes sense to me. Why would anyone want an Omega who destroys what makes them an Omega?” You scoffed at his words and rolled your eyes. “You aren’t destroying anything, Shouta. You are doing what you need to in order to be comfortable. There is nothing wrong with that.”
His omega purred at your words, the first time he purred since high school, and squeezed your hand softly. “You haven’t changed at all.” He chuckled and rested his other hand on top of yours before sighing. “Neither have you. It’s nice knowing I don’t have to live up to some shitty hero expectation.” He hummed before nodding in agreement.
“I assume you’ve been on some courting dates as well?” You scoffed and rolled your eyes. “Those weren’t shit compared to what we used to do. All they would do is complain about me not matching my hero persona and then want me to pay the bill after they spend hundreds of dollars on food.” He chuckled seeing you ramble. “They all thought because I’m a hero that I’m made of money. I have money because you taught me to save it and not spend it all the second I got my paycheck, not because I’m a hero.”
After a bit at the cafe, you suddenly got an idea. “Sho, let's go run around the city for a bit?” He tilted his head as he sat down his empty drink. “We aren’t kids anymore-” “No, I get that, but one night. Let’s run around as if we were for one night.” He looked at your excitement and melted, feeling his omega begging him to agree. “Fine. Only because I don’t have to work tomorrow.” Seeing you cheer and stand up made him grin a bit. When you went to pay, he tried to fight over paying the bill because “You weren’t made of money” but you just flicked his head softly and told him to hush. He smiled one more time before giving in and letting you pay.
He let you drag him around the city and he couldn’t believe he was admitting this, but this was the most fun he or his omega had in a long time. Getting ice cream at 10pm, tasting random food from the vendors on the streets, window shopping, even sneaking into a drive in movie theater and renting a radio so you both could sit together and watch the movie. It made him feel young.
It was almost sunrise and you both were walking along the beach, smiling and laughing like old times. Like how it was when you both were courting in high school. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or the fact that you had scented him extremely well, but he was as giggly and happy as could be. The cool water washed past his feet, pants rolled up to make sure they wouldn’t get wet, and you hummed, feeling him squeeze your hand softly.
“Hey Shouta?” He hummed softly before grinning at you. “Thank you for agreeing to come out with me. I was really scared when Hizashi offered to push you in my direction, especially after everything that happened in our past, but I hope that we can recover what we once had.” His omega purred again causing him to press a hand to his rumbling chest. “Yeah...No problem. I should thank you for getting me out of the house. If I’m not there, I’m in the school, so I guess I did need a break from that.” You grinned and squeezed his hand. “You always have avoided things by working. Sometimes you need to take a moment to just stop and relax. Remind yourself that everything happens for a reason, and that you’re alive. That in itself is something to be grateful for.”
He hummed in agreement before sighing softly, looking out to see that the sun was rising. “I can’t tell you the last time I stayed up this long.” He admitted. You hummed in agreement before sighing. “I guess I should take you home, huh?” He instantly let out a whine at the thought before looking at his chest with a red face. “Come on, stop actually doing stuff and go back to sleep.” he mumbled to his omega before you laughed. “It’s cute Sho. I miss hearing your omega make noises like that.” You kissed his cheek which made him turn dark and his omega to purr once more. He glared at you a little and sighed. “You’re so lucky. If it were anybody else, I would’ve left a long time ago.”
You chuckled before turning around to walk back to where you came from, pulling him behind you. “Come on, Sho. We need to sleep.” He huffed softly but nodded, moving to rub his tired eyes.
He led you to his apartment before stopping outside. “Have you already found a place to stay yet?” “Not quite. Currently staying at a hotel until I can fin-” “Want to move in with me?” He asked abruptly. “I mean...It’ll make rent cheaper and it’ll stop you from wasting anymore money.” You could only chuckle before taking his hands and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. “Only if you agree to not be a picky eater-” “I was not a picky eater when we were togethe-” “Don’t even try me, I had to convince you to eat real food.” “Okay and your point?”
You both couldn’t help but smile and you sighed. “Fine, I’ll move in with you tomorrow...Or I mean I guess today, but we need a nap since I kept your ass up.” He hummed and nodded. “Fine then.” He opened the door and took your hand, pulling you in after him. “Sho, what are-” “We are taking a nap together. I’ve always slept better with you.”
Tamaki Amajiki
(Mention of heats, harassment, and implied NSFW)
Tumblr media
Someone please tell this boy that being an Omega hero is okay. He often feels pressured by society to fit into the soft, omega role that everybody seems to want. Yet with the help of Mirio and Nejire, he easily became one of the big 3 in UA.
Yet when it came to talking to others, especially in crowds, he felt himself grow anxious and even slightly panicked. His normal sweet yet salty scent would turn to smell more like fish during these times. This was when most Alphas would scoff in disbelief at the fact this omega seemed to be one of the big three.
Besides Mirio and Nejire, there was one other person he found himself able to talk to due to years of knowing each other. You were an alpha who never raised your voice or got irritated by his bashfulness. In fact, you would go out of your way to show your patience and kindness by doing little things when his anxiety was getting bad. Ordering for him at restaurants, letting him hide behind you when he started to tremble, and quickly getting him away from social situations that could cause him to have an anxiety attack were just a few of the ways you showed how much you cared.
This was one of those moments. He was out with you, Mirio, and Nejire when he heard them. The alphas behind him that were starting to comment about him being an Omega in a group of three alphas.
“Must be a Knot licker to keep three alphas to himself.” “Don’t you know that the proper term for a bitch like that is a Puppymill?” Tamaki felt himself whimper and grabbed your arm, holding you tighter as they continued on with their comments. You hummed softly, feeling him start to tremble. “In front of me baby, come on.” Your arm wrapped around him and softly pushed him in front of you, yet the comments continued.
Your alpha had started growling, scent starting to burn. Mirio and Nejire took notice and turned to see the Alphas snickering to themselves. “B-Baby don’t-” “Tamaki I don’t like how they’re talking-” “I know but...please ignore them. I’m not worth a fight.” You glared at him as he gave a sympathetic smile. You huffed softly and wrapped your arms around his waist. “It’ll be okay guys. Let’s just get our food and we can leave. Maybe a movie night would be fun?” “Yeah! Maybe we can watch something like shark tale! Right Amajiki?” Nejire spoke happily and the Omega couldn’t help but feel thankful for his friend group at that moment, but he then noticed your grip leave his hips as your sent burned ten times more.
Your temper was getting the best of you and before the others could say anything, you grabbed both men by their heads before slamming them together. “Will you two Knotheads shut the fuck up?! You’re making Omegas uncomfortable with your disgusting language.” Mirio was quick to start pulling you away as the two Alphas began to growl. “Come on, the last thing Amajiki would want is a fight, now stop it-” “They wouldn’t stop making comments-” “Yeah welcome to lose-tie knotheads.” He moved to sit you in front of him and Nijire, who was holding the Omegas hand to keep him calm.
After you all left the store, you stopped for a moment and shook your head. “Don’t you fuckin-” “Hey!” One of the guys from before started walking towards you. Tamaki instantly started to tremble as the men walked closer, yet you stood without wavering. “What.” you said bluntly. “That shit you did back there? Not fuckin’ cool”
“Oh but harassing Omega’s is?” Nejire spoke before they barked at her. “Shut the fuck up Cat-Pole.” “Cat-Pole?!” You growled once again and they just smirked. Mirio simply hummed and walked beside you before pressing his hand on your shoulder, a simple gesture to them but a secret code between the two of you.
You hummed and turned back to the other two, slipping an arm around them both as you walked down the street. “W-What was that-” Then there was the yelling before Mirio skipped back with you all happily. “Took care of that!” He cooed as you all continued to walk. Tamaki blushed slightly before noticing how your hand stayed on his waist.
When you all got back, Tamaki excused himself. He claimed not to be hungry anymore since the alphas had upset his stomach, but you knew the real reason. You told the other two about your plan and they hummed happily, letting you leave after the tall omega.
“Tama~” You called as he stopped outside of his door. “O-Oh...Is there something you need?” You nodded and held out your hand. “Come to my room for a sec okay? I have some things for you that I didn’t have time to give you.” He blushed slightly at the idea of getting something from you, but nodded. His hand slipped softly into yours as he walked behind you to your room.
He instantly purred the second he walked in. It always was comforting in your room, and it made him accidentally chirp. He instantly blushed dark and whimpered, covering his mouth with his spare hand. “You’re alright Tama. Sit on my bed, Okay? The stuff is in my closet.”
He carefully sat down, huffing as he started rubbing at his neck. He was one of the few Omegas who couldn’t take suppressants due to them messing with his quirk, so he knew what was happening. He had attracted those alphas because his heat was about to start any moment now. He was about to hide in his nest right before you pulled him away.
He tried to focus on anything besides how strong the scent of saltwater taffy was becoming, huffing softly as he moved to shrug off his sweater since he knew he was going to start soon. Another soft whimper came from him and you darted out of the closet. “Sorry baby, I lost one of the items. I know you’re getting uncomfortable but I wanted to give you these for your heat.”
He let out another whimper as he moved to sit on his legs instead of his ass, huffing as he quickly started digging in the bag to pull out what you wanted to him to see. He was nervous because out of the three alphas, he grew closest to you and was hoping it was a courting gift even if it was a bit late. He only gasped when he pulled out a hand crochet octopus, smiling at it and hugging it tight to his chest. “T-Thank you, Alpha.” he called out before hiding his face in the toy.
You simply hummed and moved to stand. “That isn't all of it, but your heat is coming faster than I thought. Come on, you can open the rest in your room” He nodded and felt you move to pick him up. He gasped and held onto you as you rushed him back to his room. The other gift was in your hand, but you could only focus on how amazing Amajiki smelled. Of course you knew why, but you held back as you looked for his nest, finding it on the floor in the corner of his room. You carefully sat him down and he quickly climbed in his nest, nose shoved deep into the toy as he trembled.
“Here Omega.” You laid the blanket at the edge of the nest, making sure not to enter without the others permission. He let out a whimper and sat up slowly to grab the blanket. He held it close to his chest and smiled, still trembling like a leaf. “I-I love them, Alpha.” He chirped again which only made you smile. “I’m glad...I wanted to court you before your heat, but I was really late.”
Hearing that made his eyes water before he crawled to you, sitting up to wrap his arms around you and hug you tight, scenting you completely in his thick and heavy scent. You only grinned and pecked his neck which made him gasp. “You smell like the Ocean Tama. I love it.”
His omega purred before he moved to pull you a bit. “Alpha...Stay with me?” he mumbled softly as he tried to get you to crawl in his nest. You knew what he was implying and you only smiled, pulling away slightly. “You sure baby? I haven’t even taken you on a date.” He instantly nodded with no shame at all. “Please Alpha. I want you to help me.” Your alpha chuffed which made you blush and Tamaki snort before hiding in your neck.
“Okay Omega. I’ll stay with you.” He purred loudly and held you tighter as you carried him to the door so you could shut and lock it properly. “Thank you Alpha...I love you.” He chirped out with pink cheeks. You only smiled as you carried him back to the nest and pecked his lips before resting him in his nest. “I love you too. Omega.” He chirped again happily before pulling you down with him.
He threw a leg over your stomach and snuggled into your scent gland, humming happily at how your scent was starting to become stronger in reaction to his. “Oh...I’m sorry in advance.” He whispered and moved to start kissing on you. “Why is that?” he blushed darker and moved to hold your hand. “I uh...might get needy.” You only grinned and pecked his lips once more. “It’s your heat. I’m right here to help you. Do whatever you need, alright Omega?” He purred once more at you calling him that before he sighed happily, melting into your arms. “Alright...I’m going to take a nap...Y-You should too.” You only pulled him closer before nodding. “Okay baby, rest now. Goodnight.”

what about cloudnight for 001? have a nice day!
Ahh hell yeah cloudnight!!! ty you have a good day too!☺️
when I started shipping it if I did: when I read their chapters in Vigilantes
my thoughts: they are so sweet. There’s just something that gets me about the whole concept of first love, lost love that makes my heart hurt for them. Also simpakumo is just hilarious
What makes me happy about them: Oboro gives off the energy of a dude who is the biggest fan of his wife, and they could have so easily been That Couple. For the characters where one got naked in class and the other fought villains in a trench coat there is something so soft and innocent about their affection. Under the raunchy jokes and teenage dumbassery there’s an underlying feeling that they could be any new couple you could find anywhere, just being smitten
What makes me sad about them: the fact that Midnight never had a chance to get closure of her own about what happened to Shirakumo. I think all the rooftop squad has their own little portion of misplaced guilt and she could just as easily feel responsible for what happened because she found him and Aizawa an internship, she told them to handle evacuations that got them caught up in the attack. And she wasn’t there for the Kurogiri interrogation. She died without knowing anything more than what she knew the day he died and that kills me
things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don’t read a lot of fanfic and the cloudnight stuff I’ve read has all been lovely
things I look for in fanfic: softness! that’s it really
Who l'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Oof that ship has sailed but erasercloud / cloudmic for Oboro or midjoke / micnight for Nem
My happily ever after for them: that would be some AU where everything turns out fine Shirakumo regains control and Midnight is around to see it but otherwise if he regains some control and eventually dies at least they’d technically be together 🥲🥲
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Shirakumo is bigger so usually him but Kayama never misses an opportunity to make him feel all safe and secure. Only thing is if he wakes up first he’ll just act like she’s a backpack and walk around with her on his back until she wakes up properly
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: shenanigans. they seek out Mic to go annoy Aizawa about whatever they can think of. Otherwise their favourite couple activity is doting on Sushi. Those two will walk around with Sushi on his own little cloud being like ‘yes hello this is our son isn’t he handsome?’

Cherry Blossoms Blues
A teenage time-based short fanfic of aizawa suffering spring allergies cause I am currently am and idk I want the tired man to suffer. Little shippy if you squint. Also mentions of oboro and death so tw I guess. I didn’t spell out the snz sorry maybe next time I will. Enjoy!
In the cloak of sunset, the cherry blossoms burned red-pink, fallen to the ground like spilled blood when Shouta stopped over them to nurse his own nose.
He was lucky, getting away from the class when he did. A reddening nose and a couple of wet sniffs were not becoming easy enough to hide. He would have to buy a new scarf, though, because the one he had was now wrapped around his face, spotted with mess.
A petal dropped, landing in his hair; he shook it out. He watched from a distance as picnics popped up on checked blankets, friends gathered…
Had he and his friends ever laid out a blanket together, and sat under the trees together? If Oboro hadn’t passed so soon, would they have been painted into the crowd as well, indistinguishable from all the rest? His mind flashed an image on the smiling man before the urgency of his nose got the best of him and he ran a wrist over his face.
Another petal broke away, a flash of pink before his eyes, and on instinct, he cupped his hands and caught it. Somehow, it looked even smaller in his hand when lined up against the creases of his palm. Tiny red veins branched upward, woven and webbed like the tree it came from. He let it flutter to the ground to join the others. Every year, these petals drew crowds to celebrate their end.
On a whim, Shouta knelt and placed his palm on the ground. It was soft—a carpet of pastels. He stretched forward over it, inhaling through the petals the earthy sweetness of decay. Almost immediately the tickle flourished to life and he had to cup his hand around his nose to catch the flurry of sneezes.
“Oh well” he thought as he laid on the ground allowing himself to think at his time at UA. Was he supposed to be here, when his quirk wasn’t an important one?
The wind sighed through his hair, shaking more petals loose. Rolling onto his back, he gazed up through the branches, at slices of sunset so bright he had to narrow his eyes. A few desperate sneezes tumbled out of the tired teenager. As his watery eyes cleared the silhouettes of the remaining petals ridged the sky like guideposts set along thin routes of bark. Burgundy clouds framed the eye of the sun.
The cherry blossoms could do a lot worse for a view. Maybe, if it were like this, even he wouldn’t mind lying here with them, forever…
The sound of his name jolted him up, setting his heart to pounding. How long had he been out here? Too long his nose was blocked and tear lines framed his face. The sunset was deep now, the eastern sky blue-black. He’d only meant to stop for a moment…
“Shouta-kun! Shouta-kun, where are you?”
It was Mic voice. Over the lump forming in his throat, Shouta called out, “Mic-san! I’m here!”
He could hear his footsteps, clumsy with haste, as he rounded the bend. He stood to meet him, sheepishly brushing himself off from the pollen and other grass.
“Thank goodness,” he breathed, laying a hand over his heaving chest. “Where on earth have you been, Shouta-kun? I was worried sick!”
Shouta face burned. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you worry.” He said with a desperate sniff and he brought up a hand to wipe his runny nose. “I took a different route, and…” He trailed off.
“But what happened to your face? It’s all red and…!”
Mic was interrupted from a violent sneeze from his dark-haired friend that bend him forward and two weaker sneezes followed. He watched as his friend sniffed desperately and groaned.
“I...sniff..I’m really sorry—really I am fin—"
“Oh, Shouta-kun,” Mic sighed. “Let’s go home and clean you up.” He turned and cupped his hands around his mouth and his booming voice called out “Nemuri-san! Enji! I’ve found him! We’re by the cherry blossom trees!”
As the sniffling man looked up, he saw his two other friends jogging over. He quietly cursed having shown up for school at all today, but was quickly found himself being lifted by the smiling yellowed hair friend. He couldn’t help but lean into his touch and block his poor nose from any other scents then the musky cologne Mic insisted on wearing and for the first time that day let his eyes close and fall into a deep relaxed state.

Before You Go (All Might x Reader)
Part One/Part Two
A/N: so, I know you wanted some fluff ...but as always this is an angst blog so a little bit of crying is required. I got so many notes and replies the first night i posted my story so i had the motivation to finish this one pretty fast. Thank you so much for reading and enjoy! (Also, it might be untraditional but this is exactly how i want my boyfriend to propose to me lol minus the heroics of course)
word count: 4200
Aizawa sighed, staring at the ceiling of his bedroom. He received a call that afternoon from the girl who he hadn’t talked to for a couple years. He still missed her, and he knew that he had hurt her feelings when she decided to leave. It was his fault she abandoned him for so long, and he wasn’t angry. He was shocked but relieved to finally see her name pop up on his phone.
She was sobbing when he answered, crying so loudly he almost had to pull the phone away from his ear. ‘Shota-kun, can I come over?’, Y/N had cried to him, and his heart broke. He agreed quickly, and she hung up so she could walk to his family’s house.
His mother and father were so happy to see her again. His mother gave Y/N the biggest hug and made her a cup of tea immediately. It had been a long time since the girl visited, and they worried Aizawa had lost her as a friend. She was the nicest girl, and after what happened to Oboro, Aizawa needed a good friend more than ever.
She entered his room and shut the door softly, her eyes never reached his, instead stared down at the ground.
“Did you need something, Y/N?”
“Shota, I-I’m so sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking,” she whispered, shame dripping off her words. “Toshinori never really cared about me. Jesus, you were right the whole time and I was so blind by my fantasies. I’m so fucking sorry.”
“What happened?”
She sat down at the foot of his bed and wiped her eyes of any tears building up. The boy hadn’t looked at her once since she entered, just stared in thought at the ceiling, hands under his head. “He’s leaving tomorrow for America.”
“So?”
“He’s leaving and he never even told me. He’s just up and leaving me for no reason.”
“There’s got to be a reason. He didn’t say?”
“He said that he wanted to tell me, but couldn’t. For some reason, I’m not a good enough friend to know what’s going on,” she complained, and he only shook his head. “What?”
Aizawa sighed, sitting up on his bed to face the girl. She had tears in her eyes, but also so much anger for the boy they spoke about. He cringed, never having seen such betrayal from her. “As much as I hate the guy, I have to ask. Have you considered that maybe there’s a good reason why he never told you? That he really couldn’t tell you or else something bad might have happened to you? I highly doubt he would just leave you voluntarily,” he said, knowing he was right.
For some reason, she couldn’t wrap her mind around that conclusion. Confused, she asked, “What dangerous stuff would Toshinori be involved with? He’s an angel.”
Aizawa rolled his eyes at his oblivious friend. She was always a bit dimwitted at times, but this was just embarrassing. “He’s one of the most powerful students ever to come out of UA, and you think there aren’t people out to get him?”
“I didn’t think about that.”
“Of course you didn’t. Maybe if you did, you wouldn’t be here crying to me,” he grunted.
She sat quietly for a moment, just thinking about the last moments she had with Toshinori. She turned to Aizawa and confessed, “He said he loved me and I just walked away. I didn’t even reply. I was just so angry.”
“So cruel, L/N. Now you both have broken hearts.”
Her heart beat rapidly in her chest as she thought about the chances she missed when she left Toshinori behind. Aizawa was right. She laid back onto the bed, legs dangling off the edge. She covered her eyes with one of her forearms. “I didn’t think I would fall in love with him. I always admired him, and I had a crush on him. It was never meant to be anything more.”
“But?”
“But seeing how he was, how kind and brave he is- I don’t know I just got too attached. He made me feel special, and now I’ll never see him again.” Her voice faltered, and she caught herself letting out a soft sob. Eyes welled with tears. “I don’t want him to leave, Shota. I don’t want to do this without him.”
He placed a gentle hand on her arm. As much as he hated the reason he was comforting his best friend, the girl he grew up infatuated with,  he couldn’t let her cry. She was always so happy as they grew up together, and he wanted her to be happy now, even if that meant she had to settle for old, second place Aizawa.
“He has to take care of whatever is going on, and for now, you just have to work hard and become something for yourself. You always wanted to be a hero, and Toshinori helped you control your quirk. You have everything set out perfectly for you.”
“He promised me we would do it together, Shota. He promised me,’ she cried, choking on her gasps for air. “I don’t want to be alone.”
Aizawa felt a stab to the heart, but he had to realize that Y/N would never like him like that. If she didn’t love him before then she never would, and that was okay. Being just friends would be okay. Being the shoulder to cry on was more than enough. To be trusted by her was enough, he decided.
“You’ll make it through this, Y/N. He’s just one guy.”
“No one is like Yagi. No one.”
“Yeah, well, tough. No one is quite like Oboro either, but we all have our shit to deal with,” he cursed, feeling his own emotions rising in his chest. He missed his friend. It had only been 6 months since his death, and the guilt and pain was still heavy. “We all have to move on at some point.”
She cried even harder into her hands, the thought of her cloud-like friend coming to mind. He was so kind to her when he was around, and she missed him. The only person to keep her from falling apart after Oboro’s death was Toshinori. She missed them both, and her heart would remain miserable for a long time because of those two boys.
“I’m sorry, Shota. Fuck, I’m so sorry. I fucking hate this world. Why does it have to be so unfair to good people?”
“It’s not the way of normal people,” he sighed. “We chose this life when we decided to be heroes.”
_____________________________________________
Y/N worked her way up after a couple years to become a powerful sidekick, on a level where if she saved up her salary she could open her own pro hero agency. Losing Toshinori was enough to beat her into shape. She got a great job with a renowned hero, bought an apartment, and took care of herself. Her life was lonely, but it was manageable. Aizawa was still her friend, but they had separated again when they started to work.
She climbed into her bed for the night, just another normal day gone by only to wake up the next day and work.
But then her phone rang. She let it ring, too tired to roll over to the bedside table and pick it up. Then, it rang again. Throwing her hand to the table sleepily, she brought the heavy cord phone to her ear.
“Hello?”
“Y/N? It’s really you?”
The young woman blinked, shifting to sit up in bed. That voice was one she’d only heard a long time ago. “Yagi?”
“Y/N, I’m so glad I could find your number. I had to ask around a lot to find it. You changed it since I left?”
“Yeah...I moved out of my parent’s house, like last year,” she mentioned offhandedly, but there were more important things on her mind. “What are you calling me for, especially this late at night?”
“Shit, I forgot about time zones.”
She waited patiently for him to explain himself. She wasn’t even angry at him anymore, in fact she found herself beyond excited that he called her. There was no way for her to contact him. From the moment he left, she wished they handled his departure differently. She wished she hadn’t thrown out his confession so harshly. Life might be drastically different if she had.
He cleared his throat, bringing her out of her own cloudy thoughts. “I want you to come to California.”
“What?!”
“Come to Los Angeles. Be with me here,” he said once again. “Ever since I left Japan, I haven’t gone a day without feeling like I forgot something. I need you with me, Y/N. It’s been tough without you by my side.”
For a minute, she didn’t know what to say. She hadn’t expected him to still care for her after what happened. She thought it was over, that he was furious with her. She surely missed him as well. He was the one who taught her how to be herself, how to control her power and become the person she was meant to be. Her mother and father loved him, asked to this day how he was doing; where that blond kid went…
Truthfully, Y/N missed Toshinori as well. There wasn’t enough success and money in the world that could make her forget about how she felt for him, how his smile made her entire day brighter and his laugh was angelic in her ears. She missed him so much it hurt.
Her voice was soft, not knowing how to reply. “Yagi, I have a life here in Japan, though.”
“I know, and I can’t make you leave, but Y/N, if you come with me, I can give you everything. We can start our own hero agency from the ground up.” She bit her lip, trying to think about her options. “I don’t want to do this without you. I want your name up there beside mine, L/N.”
“Yagi-kun-”
“Please.”
“You can’t just expect me to make this life-altering decision in a couple minutes! We haven’t spoken in years, and you want me to drop everything and go be with you? I really don’t know what to do here.”
“I know, my new friend told me you would say that. He thinks he knows women…” he mumbled. “Y/N, for those years we had together, you were my whole world. I’ve been so lost without you by my side. When I left, I was devastated, but it was Gran Torino’s order that I leave. I needed to train somewhere safe, and if that meant leaving everything I ever knew, that’s what I had to do. But you have never left my mind. You are my biggest regret, Y/N. If we weren’t so young, I would have asked you to come with me right then.”
“Why did you leave me in the first place? Why would Gran Torino want you to run away like that? I just don’t get it.”
“It’s a long story, but basically I’m a threat to All For One and that means I have a target on my head. I’m safe here, and I’ve trained harder than ever to protect the world and those I care about.”
“Okay. Why does he want you so badly? What makes you special? Like, I know you’re powerful and all, but-”
“I really can’t talk about it over the phone, but I promise I will tell you everything if you come to California.”
“Are you sure this is a good idea? You’re serious?”
“More than I’ve ever been.” He paused, and she felt a soft smile coming onto her lips. Hearing his voice, imagining his face talking on the other end, it made her happier than she’d felt in those two empty years. “Y/N, I meant it back then when I said I loved you. You’re the most extraordinary woman I’ve ever met.”
Maybe it was crazy to just up and leave her home and everything she knew in Japan. But what kind of life is it to live wishing you’d gone back and took that chance, been with the person who made you feel alive, made you feel something, anything other than numb and bored and lonely and broken to shreds from the cruelty of the world.
“Okay.”
God, she couldn’t believe she could be so impulsive, much less over some boy. It had been years, she didn’t think she loved him anymore. It would be ridiculous to stay hung up on some guy she knew in high school. She was doing this as friends only, friends with business related benefits.
And so she would turn on her lights and start to pack away her belongings and change her entire life
________________________________________
The weirdest part was definitely seeing everything around her written in English, and people using their quirks freely in the airport. She walked through the terminal, lugging her heavy suitcase behind her as she walked on American soil for the first time. She couldn’t believe all the amazing quirks around her, none of them particularly powerful, but everyone was free to exercise their gifts anywhere. America was certainly gonna be different from Japan, she realized.
Maybe it would be harder to adjust than she thought.
Toshinori told her a car would be outside waiting for her, but she hadn’t expected this. A flashy, futuristic red convertible sat beside the curb, and a brunette man in the front seat.
“Y/N? Y/N L/N, yeah?!” the man shouted, and she hesitantly walked over. She was almost afraid to get near the car; it looked so expensive she might break something. “Hey, Yagi sent me to get you. I’m David.”
“Oh, um, that’s cool. Is this...your car?”
He laughed. “Yep. It’s still a prototype, but it’s all mine. Thought I’d let you take a ride in it, as a welcome to the States.”
He lifted the trunk just by pressing a button on the dash and she threw in her suitcase, quickly going to sit down so they could get going. She felt bad for holding this man up even a little bit. He didn’t even know her, and he was already giving her a free ride.
The seat was ginormous, clearly made for bigger people. David looked pretty tall, but even so he seemed a little small in the seat as well. Perhaps this was a car made for heroes of all shapes and sizes, she thought, animal heroes like Orca.
“All Might has really been dying to see you again. He’s been nervous about it all week since you agreed to come.”
“All Might? So he’s keeping the hero name?”
“Yeah. It really fits him, you know. Just look at him, pretty mighty if you ask me.” When she thought about him, she didn’t really see “mighty”. She knew him in high school, so he’d probably changed. Maybe he got a little more muscle, probably if he’s been working out a lot..
“So, David, Toshi’s mentioned you but I’m afraid I don’t know much about you.”
“I’m a scientist, support item designer. In fact, I’ve upgraded All Might’s costume many times. That’s how we met. He saved me, and then I started making him costumes. We attend the same university.”
“Oh. Okay. I guess I should probably tell you a little about me too-”
“I’m gonna be honest, Y/N, I probably know almost everything you’re gonna tell me. Yagi has talked about you quite a few times. He even checks the Japanese news a couple times a week to see how you’re doing with your career, and to make sure you don’t die or anything.”
Her face turned a bright red at the thought of Toshinori continuing to care about her for this long, even after everything that happened. It really made her happy knowing he cared that much, even if it meant that this stranger knew so much about her. “Wow, I had no idea he would still care. That makes me feel good, to be honest.”
“You never forget your first love, you know.”
“I-I know. But we never dated. We were just good friends,” she explained, rubbing the back of her neck with her fingers. They turned down winding streets, flashing lights and people on every sidewalk and at every little store. It felt different, maybe it was because of the country, or maybe because she knew she was close to being with Yagi again. “I mean, I don’t know if he told you about our last time being together. I-I broke his heart.”
“He told me. What you don’t know is that he never resented you for it. He knew what he was doing, and your reaction was completely rational. He told me that he would work hard while he was here so one day you would come back to him. He honestly was more worried about you meeting someone else while he’s here in America than you rejecting him.”
“It’s still not right what I did to him, whether he forgives me or not.”
“Doesn’t matter. That guy loves you. Whether you want to be friends or in a relationship doesn’t matter to him either.”
“Why?”
“Like I said, he loves you. Just being able to protect you is enough to satisfy him.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
He laughed, making a quick turn into a parking garage. Ah, they must be here already. She felt her heart start to race and her hands get a bit clammy. He gave her shoulder a soothing pat, knowing how overwhelmed she must be. “Don’t be nervous.”
She grabbed her bag from the trunk-like compartment and pulled it behind her, entering a glass elevator with her new friend. Floors passed by slowly at first, but as they got closer and closer to floor 10, the one the apartment was on, the elevator seemed to move faster.
And soon enough they were entering the apartment.
Immediately, she recognized the smell. It was him. The smell of him had long left the clothes she had of his in her home when he left, so the relief of his scent filling her head once again was nearly intoxicating. She almost didn’t recognize him when he walked into the room.
Her eyes scanned his body, all the way from the soles of his feet to the spikes in his hair. He was tall and really fucking buff. Like really, really buff. He looked like a giant compared to when she last saw him. “Yagi, you-” Her breath left her body when his gigantic arms circled her body and pressed her to his chest, lifting her nearly a foot off the ground.
“I’m so glad you decided to come, Y/N.”
“You’re hurting me,” she choked out, feeling the breath leaving her lungs and her chest burn, desperately needing air. His hugs were never this intense, and before she could actually wrap her arms around him, but now she could barely meet fingertips. He was quick to set her on the ground, a look of concern in his eyes. “You’re a lot different since you left.”
“I’ve been training super hard so I can become the symbol of Peace this world needs.”
“Seems the hard work is paying off. You’re literally a giant.”
“Well, you look great as always,” he smiled. “Confidence still looks good on you.”
Her face lit up with heat at his compliment, and she nodded in reply, too choked up to say anything else. It had been so long, but he could still make her feel butterflies in her stomach. This was her life now, a life with Toshinori. Maybe she was blinded by love still, and this was all such a stupid idea...but she knew that as long as she was with Yagi, everything would be okay.
They loved each other, and that’s all they would need to make it.
________________________________________
Y/N huffed, kneeling on the ground after a particularly nasty fight with a few villains. Toshinori fought beside her and took out a few of the criminals while she took care of the rest. Her body felt hot all over, but there were no burns anymore. Overtime, she had perfected damage control.
Even with blood covering her hands and splattered on her clothing, Toshinori still thought she was the most beautiful woman to ever exist, the most beautiful thing in the entire world. To him, she was perfect. She was strong, brave, and kind. She gave him a second chance after he left her, and he would never forget that kindness. She came to build a life with him, only relying on sheer faith to guide them.
God, he loved her so much.
“Good job, Y/N.”
“Ha, it wouldn’t have been so easy were we not the dream team,” she sighed, wiping a bit of dust and dirt from her eyes. She accepted his hand to help her from the ground. “Let’s get home. We’ve done enough today and my legs are getting kinda shaky.”
“Well, then let me carry you, my precious Y/N,” he suggested, bending down so she could climb into his ginormous arms. She shook her head, her eyes going wide. He was always offering nice things like this, but carrying her was ridiculously courteous. “But why? To me, you weigh basically nothing.”
“That’s not the point,” she scolded him, “It’s embarrassing. I’m a grown woman who can walk by herself.”
He nodded sadly, disappointed he wasn’t going to hold her in his arms any time soon. He remembered their first meeting when he carried her to the nurse's office. Back then, she really didn’t need to be carried either, yet he felt happiness pump through him when she was tucked against him.
He shrugged awkwardly, his eyes flickering to her and then back at the building beside them. “Can I hug you then?”
She laughed, opening her arms for the man to walk into. He lifted her a bit off the ground so her head could rest on his shoulder. He buried his nose into her hair, which undeniably smelt like dirt and smoke from the fight earlier. “You love hugs, don’t you, Yagi?”
“Only from you, my princess.”
When he let her down, he noticed that she wouldn’t meet his eyes. “Why do you always call me such sweet things? All I ever call you is your name,” she asked, rubbing the back of her neck nervously.
“Because that’s how I feel about you. You are my whole world, you know.”
“I know, just the nicknames always make me feel so, well, I don’t know...gushy inside or some shit.”
“I should always make you feel ‘gushy inside’. I am your one true love, after all,” the man laughed, taking the girl’s small hand into his. She nodded, her face heating up at the thought. He was her true love. She’d never felt so strongly for anyone in her whole life, and doubted she ever could. He was her everything as well. Ever since they met, she knew he was the one for her, the kindest and bravest soul to ever walk the planet.
As she looked at him, his beaming smile radiated an energy she couldn’t explain. It was just so bright and hopeful. She felt safer than ever with him, and he made her feel stronger. His bravery rubbed off on her, and made her a better hero. She got to where she was because of him, because he helped her in second year, because of his kindness. He was a rare breed, that man, and she loved him positively and forever for it.
“Yagi-kun, you make me fall deeper in love with you every day. You really, truly do.”
His heart filled with love for her every time she spoke, and he felt like he might explode with affection. He wanted her to be with him until they grew old, and he and David were preparing for this moment for a long time. She was the love of his life, the woman he was destined to be with. He couldn’t risk letting her go ever again.
“I was waiting for a more opportune moment, but I can’t wait anymore. I’m too excited,” the man chuckled. He reached down to his belt and slipped a ring out of one of the pockets. He knew she didn’t want him to make a huge scene of it, them being pros would cause a lot of media attention. He simply smiled sweetly and held out the glimmering stone. “Wanna get married? David is ordained,” he asked boldly, a bit of red dusting his cheeks as well.
“Yagi...oh my god.” Her eyes stared down at the simple ring held out to her. “Yes, of course. I-I just wasn’t expecting this.” He lifted the hand he held and slipped the ring on her finger, letting her get a good look of it on her hand. It only made her love the ring even more. It was perfect for her, and she knew Toshinori picked it out with pure love in his mind.
He nodded gently, his eyes filling with pure bliss seeing her so happy. “I’ll never let you down, Y./N. you’ll never have to worry as long as you’re with me.”
“Yagi, thank you.”
They went home together and from that day on, they built onto their lives together until the bitter end. Being a hero was hard work, risky work as well. As long as they had each other, all of that was worth it

There were documents in Kai office.
"What is this Shiku?"
Said mist man avoided looking at him.
"Things you should look."
"I know those logos, I don't need anything from anywhere-."
"Kai."
Kai was shaking, there were no place in the numbness besides rage. Oboro was looking at him now, something in his eyes was the same as the lady he just attended, pleading to something but Kai wouldn't never know what.
"You deserve to know, what happened, what you have-."
"I deserve to chose it also."
"Yeah."
Kai hated that face, face that spoke he knew what the end would be. It was the same as before Chief found him.
"Get out."
"... Just, remember we are here for you." and out he was.
Kai sighed, falling in his chair, he was tired after this work day, and a tired mind would come back to habits he did not wish to have.
Habits probably documented in one of the essays in front of him.
Slowly, Kai set to organize the papers, skimming the titles and feeling the pit on his stomach grow and grow with each detail his eyes would glimpse.
Chemical trials, hallucinogem trials, quirk enhencer and inhibitors trials, at the same time, hypnotism trials, exercize trials-.
Chisaki stopped, both remembering such occasion being much more than just "exercize", and seeing more data than expected, his eyes wandered through the paper. With caught breath, he could read the cold data he knew was analysing bringing a child to pass out exhaustion, and beating them to a inch of their life.
Data different from his own time, because he already read the complains of how difficult that was with someone with a quirk like his.
Subject 39.
Kai knew himself to be the displacer, number 505.
Letting the paper fall on his table again, half messy and half in neat pile, Kai almost disperced his lunch right there to be a bigger mess. He didn't, only tasting in the back of his throat the taste of bile and the meat bowl he had as Chisaki fell back on his chair.
His breath was too light under his mask, too nothing for his lungs and blood. Kai almost reached his phone, number memorized to any call to be made, to tell any mess he get's into because that's what Kai will ever do isn't it, because he's-.
Standing up so suddenly scared his own mind, but Kai couldn't stay, with too confident steps than what his mind was passing, Chisaki got out of his office, going directly to the small clinic change lockers was a fail, since Oboro easily caught up with his dishelveled mind.
"Kai-."
"Don't!"
"Ok doctor, what are you doing?" He couldn't look at Oboro's face, couldn't look at such concern to him of all people.
"I just, just need to go."
"And i'm coming with you, ok?"
"Whatever!" Chisaki pulled away from his arm, continuing his way to the lockers to fetch-.
"Look, i know that maybe was a hard read-."
"It Wasn't.-"
"But you can't just drop everything to.-"
"Oboro," Kai turned, looking at the man with spiralling mist already coming out of him in worry. "They have another subject."
The shock on him was enough time to pull out his 'costume' before any more questions were asked. Kai didn't know if he even was ready to those or a infiltration of this scale.
But Kai Chisaki could not just tremble in his office while someone was passing by the same fucking things he did.

Summary: The war between the Dragons and Griffons ended 233 years ago, and both races right along with it.
Or so it was believed. There are three individuals that will soon change that.
Kai is the last of the Dragons and he seeks to take what he sees as his rightful place and rule over all of Oblvi. Meanwhile, Shouta, the last Sphinx, wants nothing more than to do his job; keep the peace and and teach the young Fourth’s to hopefully avoid the mistakes of their ancestors. And Teris, a Foundling who is just trying to understand and survive in this strange new world that is supposedly her own.
All three have their own wants and desires, but Kai’s plans, Teris’ existence, and Shouta's past mean that none of them may get what they want.
***while they are capable of beastly forms, most of the time they keep to their human form

The door opened before they were fully up the walk.
Hizashi’s eyes narrowed wondering if it was coincidence or if someone had been watching from within.
“Good evening.”  Hari extended an ushering arm of entry.  “You can leave your coats with Shin.”
So not a coincidence of someone happening to exit at the same time, Hizashi thought slipping off his jacket.  Stop it, he scolded himself.  They were expecting us.  Of course they’d be watching and waiting for us.  There’s nothing nefarious about it. You’re just being protective cause of what Teris went through today, and still on edge from what you saw; though you shouldn’t be. Kai already explained why he did that.
The disturbing image of Kai choking Hari replayed in his mind.  Hizashi shook the memory away, wishing he had heard what Kai and Hari had said yet also glad he hadn’t.
He glanced at Hari.  The Arepyiai didn’t seem timid or afraid.  And though it had only been a few hours, Hari’s voice wasn’t raw and graveled from being choked.  There was no bruising along his neck. Though thanks to Hizashi being half High Elf, his quick sharp eyes caught sight of puncture marks beneath Hari’s high collar where Kai’s talons had pierced the Fourth’s skin.
Trying to brighten his mood and Teris’, Hizashi tossed his jacket to the other man and theatrically asked Teris. “Why didn’t you tell me! I’m so getting on Oboro for skipping the really important stuff. I mean, I don’t care what fight Shouta would've put up, you can bet I would’ve pestered and worn him down till he caved and let us hire a maid or butler if you or Oboro had told me we could have ‘em.”
Teris stared, wide eyed.
Shin straightened and tensed, but to his credit said nothing.
Clearing his throat, Hari stiffly corrected. “Shin is a member of Kai’s Ilca.  Not house staff.”
“Oh…” Hizashi's mouth hung in a perfect ‘o’ for a beat. “Sor--”
“If you will follow me.  Kai and Master Ryuu are waiting.”  It was rude to cut off a guest; but when the guest was a loud, lowly Hybrid, Hari didn’t much care and doubted Kai would take issue with it.
Turning with a sniff, Hari led the way.  He would never dare question Kai’s reasoning or orders, but couldn’t help but wonder at Hizashi being invited.  The Hybrid’s mere presence in their Ilca dorm was a disgusting insult. And to think the High Elf-Banshee Hybrid would have the pleasure of dinning at Kai’s table when Joi and Hari himself, two of Kai’s most trusted followers, rarely experienced such an honor.
“Sorry.” Hizashi mouthed to Teris as they followed Hari.
Teris smirked, battling a laugh. It wasn’t as if she could scold Hizashi when she had thought the same the first time she’d been in Kai’s Ilca dorm.
Hizashi brightened at Teris’ smile.
After getting back from hanging out with Oboro, he had found Shouta grading papers in the great room of their Ilca dorm.  The Sphinx had said Teris had gone up to her chambers and wasn’t to be disturbed; nor was Hizashi to mention her interview or inspection unless she brought it up first.
Worried as Hizashi had been for Teris, Shouta's show of protectiveness had excited him. He knew Shouta and Teris would make a great couple if they but stopped arguing long enough to admit their feelings for each other. And for a few hours Hizashi had thought that their confession of love could be on the horizon.  That today’s events would be a turning point for them.
But then Teris had come down and she and Shouta had had yet another argument.  This one about her going to Kai’s for dinner.  While Hizashi did his best to avoid getting involved in their disagreements, he had spoken up this time saying he would watch over Teris while they were there.
That had silenced both Shouta and Teris.  And while the look of betrayal hidden within Shouta’s ireful expression had furthered Hizashi's sense of guilt; what had stung was the flicker of upset that had crossed Teris’ face.  Was she not happy he was going?  Did she not think him friend enough to hang out with Kai?
Seated in a plush chair in the sitting room adjacent to the formal dining, Kai smiled lightly.  He smelled Teris’ wonderful scent before he even saw her.  And after what happened today, it took everything in Kai’s power to control his dragon instincts and reclaim what was his.
As it was, a low barely audible growl sounded from his chest.  Someone, he still didn’t know who, had inspected his chosen mate.  It was bad enough that the Council had interviewed her; but to know someone had looked upon and touched what was his made him want to kill.
Ryuu didn’t need to see or smell Teris to know she had arrived; not when he could visibly see the changes in Kai.  Though so subtle no one else would likely notice, for Ryuu who had raised the young Dragon, Kai’s deep savoring breath may as well have been a shouted declaration of love.
Ryuu didn’t question Kai’s sudden dark tension.  The Tengu wasn’t anymore pleased about Teris’ interview and inspection than he had been about Kai’s several years ago. He wondered if Kai would’ve felt the same anger and protectiveness if he knew Teris was a Griffon.  Probably not as Kai’s interest in her was still in its early stages.  But Ryuu hoped that would change.  That Kai would be able to look passed his pride and hate, and continue to love Teris anyway. He hoped that not just for Kai’s happiness, but for Kai and Teris’ continued existence.  Cause even if the last Dragon and Griffon got along and were mated, it would still be a long hard fight to convince the Council to let them live when it was finally discovered that Teris was a griffon.
Hari stopped just inside the double doorway while Teris and Hizashi fully entered.
Getting to his feet, Kai went to Teris.  His hand and inner wrist ran down her arm, scenting her.  “I’m glad you’re here.  Aizawa gave you no further trouble about coming?”  He asked, keen gold eyes watching her for hidden tells.
Argument with Shouta still fresh, Teris bristled at the reminder.  She stepped away from Kai’s touch annoyed with him. Glad as she was to have Hizashi attend with her, it bothered that Kai hadn’t mentioned his plan to include her friend this evening. Then again Kai hadn’t invited her, instead telling her she was joining him for dinner the afternoon of the dinner.
You’re being uncharitable, Teris thought.  Everyone’s been on edge about members of the Council being here.  Now that she knew Shouta and Kai weren’t just under the Council’s watch but continued to live only by the Council's good grace…  Well, it didn’t excuse Kai deciding things for her; but given the level of her own distress, Teris couldn’t blame Kai for wanting support and friendly company.
Honestly, she doubted she would've gotten through the interview and inspection without Shouta’s strong, calming presence.  The entire thing had brought back memories of when the scarred man with blue flames had questioned and tormented her. No doubt the ordeal had brought up memories of Shouta’s own interview and inspection.  It certainly couldn’t have been easy for him to sit beside her during the interview then stand outside the room during her inspection.  The fact that he likely struggled made her all the more grateful he had stayed with her and sought to divert her fearful focus.
And how did you thank him, her mind asked.  By arguing and leaving him alone with his brought up memories.  Shouta didn’t need or want me there, Teris argued with herself, ignoring the stab of guilt. He just didn’t want me to come here cause he’s controlling and hates Kai, she thought, trying to make herself feel better.
Pushing aside her warring feelings, Teris gave Kai an apologetic smile for rebuffing his touch and kissed his cheek. “You didn’t tell me you had invited Hizashi.”
Hizashi looked between the two, his earlier hurt easing.  She hadn’t known he’d been invited? Well that explained her moment of silent surprise.  But it still didn’t explain her brief beat of upset.
Kai softened at her chaste, tender kiss but looked disapprovingly at her when she didn’t answer his question and instead seemed to question him. “I did it for you.  Are you not glad to have him here?”
“Of course I am.”  Teris reached out and gripped Hizashi’s hand, hoping he didn’t think she didn’t want him there.
Kai hid his frown by turning to Hari.  He didn’t like the idea of Teris touching anyone but him.  But her willing touching a filthy Hybrid…  He would have to see she had a bath before they got into his bed tonight.  Then again he would've had her bathe with him before getting into bed either way.
“Inform Tabe he can start serving.”  Kai told, dismissing Hari.
After a brief introduction between Hizashi and Ryuu, they moved to the dining room.
The space gave Hizashi pause.  It was even more formal than what he’d seen of the place thus far. While not cluttered, the entire dorm made him nervous and afraid to touch anything.  Kind of like the formal front sitting room at his grandmother’s that no one was allowed to sit in unless company came over.
Hizashi swallowed thickly at the four place settings of fine china and numerous utensils that sat atop the large table capable of seating well more than four.
Kai moved to a chair left of the head of the table and pulled it out. “Teris.”
“Thank you.”  Teris sat, eyes skimming the table setting.  She looked up a Kai frowning at the placement.
Kai pulled out the chair at the head of the table, to Teris’ right, and waited for his other two guests to take their places.
Still at the rooms entrance, Hizashi couldn’t help but notice he would be sitting alone at the middle of the long table.
Ryuu noticed it too, certain that Kai had ordered the seating arrangement for more than just honoring him and wanting Teris close.  After all Kai was a Dragon and the dragon species had been obsessed with purity in all things; seeing purity itself as one of the greatest forms of wealth and power, two other things dragons had been consumed with having.
Knowing how distastefully difficult inviting Hizashi must’ve been for Kai, Ryuu was too pleased to be upset.  The fact that Kai had willingly invited the Hybrid at all filling Ryuu with hope that Kai could move passed his aversion and change.  But just because Kai had done well in inviting Hizashi didn’t mean Kai shouldn’t be pushed to grow further and act better.
The tinkling of silverware and clink of crystal against china drew everyone's attention.
From the opposite head of the table Ryuu gathered his place setting. “This table is too big for four to dine and comfortably converse so far apart.”  The Tengu smiled kindly at a displeased Kai.  “I am honored by your show of respect in placing me here and thank you for your esteem. But it has been a long, tiring day and I would greatly appreciate it if you humored an old Fourth in an friendly, less formal dinner.”

Shouta flew threw the bright moonlit sky, a sea of darkened treetops rushing beneath.  It was nice to get out and stretch his wings just for the sake of it.  Despite the fight he had put up at the time, he was grateful to Nedzu for ordering him off of patrol for today and tomorrow.
Shouta hadn’t realized how exhausting the day had been until he instinctually started getting ready for patrol.
When he finally remembered he had two days off, he’d fallen back in a chair and fell asleep.  He had woken with a start sometime later, the nightmare slow to fade.
Even now as he flew, Shouta could still hear the yowls and growls of his pack being slaughtered as he was hidden and turned to stone.  The cries of his dying pack mixed with those of the angry Council who shouted for his head and said he shouldn’t be alive.
Shouta shook his head, mane whipping around him, and flew faster as he could out fly the echoing memories.

“You know I still don’t get why the Boss wants a copy of my report to the Council's Leader.”  Hawks said, fingers holding onto the envelope he was handing over.
Toga pulled, trying to take the envelope.  “If you—don’t know—then maybe he—doesn’t want you knowing.  Ha!”  She proudly held the envelope freed from Hawks before her.
“Do you know why he wants my report on the female Foundlings inspection?” Hawks asked.
Toga deflated, seeing the envelope was magically sealed.  She frowned at Hawks.  “No.”
“It’s only the Boss already knows what the female Founding is.”  Hawks said.
“Yeah. So.”  Toga inspected the envelope in the moonlight, trying to find a way around its magical sealing.
“So,” Hawks drew out the word, “why would he want a copy of my report on a practically fruitless inspection that left me with nothing but a handful of traits that crossed off one, maybe two possible beasts she could be from the list of thousands?”
“Hundreds of thousands.”  Toga’s distracted voice chirped.
“No. Not hundreds of thousands.”  Hawks corrected.  “Hundreds of thousands is the rough number of beasts there are.  The reason I’m here is cause she’s an ancient beast which means my looking at a possibility of thousands is probably too broad, but I like to be thorough.”
Toga lowered the envelope and looked at Hawks. “You’re here cause the Boss said.  Not cause the stupid Council wants you to figure out what that female Founding is.”
“I’m here for both.”  Hawks said.
Toga frowned.  She didn’t trust Hawks.  The Anzu worked for the Council and spied for them.  His allegiance clearly given at a price, there was no guarantee their double agent won’t turn on them and become a triple agent.
“Do you know what Teris is?”  Hawks asked.
“No. And I wouldn’t tell you if I did.”  Toga stuffed the envelope in her coat.
Hawks sighed.  He missed dealing with Dabi.  Sure Toga had been more fun at the start.  His meetings with her a much needed reprieve from meeting with Dabi who always kept him on his toes.  But Dabi’s watchful and conniving ways had helped keep him sharp; something he direly need if he was to protect the Fourth's of this world.
“So when’s our next meeting?”  Hawks asked, dully.
“You’ll hear from the Boss.  Big things are coming so when or who you’ll met at the next exchange.”
“What big things?”
Toga shrugged.  “Don’t know.  So long as I get to have fun I don’t care either.”  Her eyes focused, piercing his.  “You shouldn’t care neither, Spy.”
Hawks opened his mouth to say that it was because he was a spy that knowing what was going was so important; but a large shadow flew overhead staying his words.
Hawks and Toga looked up.  They were meeting a short ways outside of Traverseen Hall’s property line. With Traverseen Hall’s guarding Shedu on one side and patrolling Ilca on the other, most would've thought this area the safest, most protected place in the region.  It wasn’t.  In actuality it was a dead zone and regular meeting ground for illegal activity because the Shedu of Traverseen Hall were too focused on guarding the many buildings and acres within the property line, and the Ilca were too busy patrolling the surrounding towns, villages, and roadways. So why then had someone just flown over them?
Hawks looked back at Toga to tell her to go but she had already turned into a fox and was running off.
Though tempted to leave himself, Hawks waited.  The guilty ran; and if the flyer was a member of the Ilca and doubled back, he certainly didn’t want to appear guilty.
Seeing a bit of color beneath the canopy of trees, Shouta turned in the air and doubled back.  He expected to find the color moving in attempt of escape; but it hadn’t.
His eyes narrowed.  Surely whoever was down there had seen him pass overhead.
Shouta growled.  The trees were too dense for him to break through the canopy in his true form without taking the risk of breaking a branch or tree and harming whoever was down there.
With practiced efficiency, Shouta’s wings folded back.  He plummeted, forelegs outstretched.  As soon as his paws touched the top most leaves, he change into his human form and flipped in the air.  Sturdy work boots punched through the  canopy. His head ducked, bent arms coming up to shield his face from clawing branches.
Through the dense branches, Shouta gripped his piece.  The coil of fabric around his neck came to life.  Several loops shot out, wrapping around thick branches.
Shouta swung through the air, his capture weapon slowing his fall.
Hawks watched Shouta land several paces from him.  What Hawks assumed was a carefully chosen distant that would allowed the Sphinx to react should he be attacked.
“Impressive. You sure know how to make an entrance.”
Shouta’s piece unwound from the branches and settle loosely around his neck.  “Hawks. What are you doing out here?”
“I could ask you the same.  Nedzu gave you two nights off.”
Shouta stared unblinking waiting for answer.
“Just needed some air.”  Hawks lied.
Shouta’s eyes skimmed the area, unfazed that Hawks knew of Nedzu’s order. He was use to the Council keeping tabs on him.  It didn’t surprise that Hawks, in the employ of the Council, would take the time to learn his schedule.
“This area’s not a safe place to get some air.” Shouta told.
“Really? Why’s that?”
Hands slipping into his pockets, Shouta’s eyes returned to Hawks. “Regular meeting spot for criminals.”
Hawks blinked, head pulling back in feigned surprise.  “And here I figured this was the safest place outside of Traverseen Hall, what with the guarding Shedu and Ilca constantly leaving and returning from patrol.”
“A common misconception.  Traverseen Hall’s properly line is a mile and three-quarters northeast.  For your safety I suggest you return. It has the same fresh air as here without the risk.”  Shouta turned to go.
“If I may, I’d like to ask you some questions about Teris.”  Hawks called after him.
Shouta paused, shoulders tensing.  Schooling his features, he turned back.  “Sure.  Feel free to make an appointment at with dispatch or the schools main office.”
Smart ass, Hawks thought.  He smiled.  “Or you could just let me ask them now.”
“I’ll keep an eye out for your appointment.  Let’s hope I’ll have I free moment to meet with you before you and the Council Elder’s leave tomorrow afternoon.”
Hawks’ smile widened.  “You hadn’t heard?  Well, I suppose you wouldn’t’ve.  I doubt Director Nedzu’s been informed yet.” His wings ruffled, feathers puffing. “I won’t be leaving tomorrow afternoon.  I’m staying on indefinitely. So I’ll have plenty of time to in more of Traverseen Hall’s air, and make that appointment with you.”
13.4
Dinner had been a long, loud affair which had made Kai feel like a third wheel at his own table.  What he had planned as an evening of the two most important people in his life getting to know each other and bonding over him had turned into Teris, Ryuu, and Hizashi telling jokes and sharing stories while he sat there and listened.
Kai wasn’t one to drink in excess but he certainly had his fair share of drink tonight.  Lucky for him his dragon system burned through alcohol quickly or he’d be drunk. Instead, he was all too sober as the evening drew to a close and he led his guests to the door.
“This was such a pleasant evening.  Thank you for hosting us, Kai, my boy.” Ryuu smiled, taking his coat from Hari.
Kai inclined his head.  “It was my pleasure.”
“I didn’t expect to have so much fun.”  Hizashi put in.
“I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.”  Kai forced a smile.  “I’d be happy to have you over again.”
Hari’s eyes snapped to Kai.  He couldn’t be serious.  Surely having the Hybrid over once was enough to appease Kai’s chosen mate.  Hari still didn’t understand why Kai was going through all this to win Teris’ affection.  The woman should be honored to have Kai’s favor.  The only reason Hari could fathom Teris wasn’t falling over, proclaiming herself unworthy was because she was a know nothing Foundling.  Even so, it was an insult.
Teris caught the slight tension in Kai’s expression.  She felt bad that he’d been left out at his own dinner party.  It wasn’t like they’d purposefully excluded him from the conversation.  In fact she, Ryuu, and Hizashi had continually tried to get him to participate.  Kai was simply too proper to comfortably engage in raucous conversation.
“Maybe next time we can have you over at our place.”  Hizashi invited.
“Or, we could meet somewhere else.”  Kai said, thinking he wouldn’t be caught dead entering Aizawa’s Ilca dorm.
“Sure! That sounds great.”  Hizashi beamed, oblivious to Kai’s reasoning.  He took his jacket and looked to Teris.  “We best get home.” He laughed.  After only three months in this new world it was amazing how their dorm truly felt like home.
Kai tensed, looking from Hizashi to Teris.  Upon his order Hari hadn’t brought her coat since he assumed she would stay a while after Ryuu and Hizashi left.
Teris saw Kai’s look.  She knew him well enough to know he wanted her to stay a bit.  Tired as she was, she’d rather avoid going home and seeing Shouta.  She wasn’t up for another argument or the guilt that would come for having left him alone when he likely needed company and distraction.
“I’m— ah… —gonna stay a bit longer.”  Teris told Hizashi.
Ryuu smiled at her and Kai.  They would make a fine, powerful couple.  With luck they would forge a true and lasting peace that healed the wounds their species had inflicted with the war.  The Council said that’s what they were doing; but as a Council member himself, Ryuu could safely say they were nothing more than a group of cruel, paranoid authoritarians who formulated hypocritical laws in effort to force their brand of peace and fairness.
Well aware of his own faults, Ryuu had no trouble admitting to himself that he was part of the problem.  He couldn’t count the number of times he had used, twisted, or purposed a law to benefit him or those he favored.  Wrong as it was, it was how the Council's system worked.  But just because he knew it was wrong and went along with it, didn’t mean he couldn’t hope for something better.
Hizashi blinked, ears lowering.  He might've come to like Kai this night; but he still thought Teris and Shouta belonged together.  Shouta would be at their dorm waiting for them.  If he came back without Teris, Shouta's feelings would be hurt.  It would drive Shouta and Teris into further arguments.
“Al—alright. If that’s what you want.”  Hizashi said.
“I won’t be long.  An hour or two at most.”  Teris said.
“Well, be safe getting back.”  Hizashi hugged her.
Even though the magical barriers and guarding Shedu made Traverseen Hall as safe a place could be, Teris hugged him back. “You too.”
Kai’s skin grew itchy just watching them.  Filthy Hybrid.  If Teris was always this affectionate with Hizashi, he should have her disinfected every time she entered his dorm.  He couldn’t wait till they were companions so he could tell her to cease unnecessary contact with all hybrids.  Or better yet skip being companions and be mated so he could order her to stay by his side or in their chambers so she’d never have to see or speak to anyone else again.
Ryuu stepped before Kai. “I’m leaving in the afternoon and probably won’t see you again.”
Kai nodded, respect and care for the Fourth that raised him welling in his chest.
“I hope it won’t be so long before we see each other again.”
“I feel the same.”  Kai said.
“I take it you’ll continue to write.”
“Of course.”
Ryuu smiled.  He wanted to hug the young Dragon that was more like a son than the sons he had lost in the war.  But out of respect for Kai, he held back.  “I’m proud of you, my boy.”
Kai’s head dipped. “Thank you. sir. That means a lot coming from you.”

Returned from his flight, Shouta entered the Ilca dorm.  The place was dark and quiet.  Too quiet; at least compared to the new normal of having Hizashi and Teris living there.  He should've been happy.  His dorm was empty and peaceful, the way it should've been.  The way it had been before Nedzu had guilted and all but forced him to accept two Foundling’s as part of his Ilca.  But he wasn’t happy or at peace. The dorm felt too empty and quiet.
Disgusted with himself, Shouta closed the front door and plopped on a couch in the great room.  Shouldn’t Hizashi and Teris have been back by now?  Just how long did a dinner party last?
You’d know if you’d ever been to one, Shouta sardonically thought laying his head back against the cushion.
Of course he’d gone to all sorts of parties.  ...okay, maybe not all sorts.  But Nemuri and Oboro had begged and bugged enough to make him attend several functions.  Granted he usually arrived late and never stayed long enough to see them end, so he had no clue just how long these things lasted.
He sighed.  He should use this time to work on specialized lesson plans for 1-A but after the long, trying day he just wanted to sit and relax.  He had wanted to sit and relax with his Ilca.  But Kai had ruined that; just as he and his kind before him had ruined everything in Shouta’s life.
The front door opened.
Shouta fought the urge to sit up and turn, forcing himself to stay put.
“Back already.”  Shouta’s disinterested voice rumbled.
“Oh! Hey, Shou.  What are you doin’ sittin’ in the dark?”  Hizashi flicked on a light and closed the door.
Shouta watched him slip of his jacket as he came around the sofa to sit in the opposite one.  “Where’s Teris?”
“Teris? Um…”  Hizashi rubbed the flat of his chin.  “She, uh…  She decided to stay a bit longer.”  At Shouta's darkening expression, he hurriedly added.  “Just for an hour or two.”
“Is this what you call watching over her?”
“She-- I--”
Shouta sat up.  “You said you would watch over her.
“I--”
The Sphinx got to his feet and made of his office.  “Thank you, Yamada. It’s nice to know what I can trust my people with.  I’ll remember this when need someone officially looked after.”
Hizashi stomped a foot and stood. “That’s not fair!”
Shouta looked back, eyes widened slightly in surprise.  Hard as he was on Hizashi and Teris, Hizashi had never spoken back or raised his voice in disagreement.
Hizashi frowned. “You’re just mad cause you didn’t want Teris going to Kai’s and now she’s staying a few more hours and alone with him.  Well that’s not my fault.  What was I suppose to do?  Argue with her? That’s your thing.  Maybe if you were nicer and told her how you feel she would've stayed here instead of going to Kai’s, who for your information might be kinda posh but is a really nice and charming guy I don’t get why you hate him.  Though I suppose you just decided you hated him without giving him a chance the way you do with practically everything.”
Shouta stared.
Hizashi gasped, slapping a hand over his mouth.  “I’m sorry, Shouta.  I didn’t mean all that.”
Shouta ignored the muffled apology. “What feelings do you think I need to tell Teris about?”
Hizashi blinked, hand lowering slowly.
“I have no feelings for Teris.  She’s--” my Ilca, Shouta thought carefully not wanting any mistakes, “--my Ilca, same as you.  There are no feelings passed that.”
“But…”
Shouta pinned Hizashi with a boring gaze.
“...right. Never mind.  Sorry.”
Shouta gave a curt nod.  “I got lessons to plan which need to be done tonight since I, unfortunately have a surprise for you tomorrow.”
“A surprise!”
Shouta winced at Hizashi's loud piercing voice.  What had he been thinking?  Was he a glutton for punishment? He had to have been possessed when he returned home and thought it too quiet.
“What’s the surprise!”  Hizashi enthused, volume barely a decibel lower.
“Nothing if you don’t quiet down and leave me alone.”
Hizashi's head pulled back, ears lowering.
Shouta sighed. Hizashi may have been wrong about Kai.  He was totally wrong in thinking he had feelings for Teris.  But Hizashi wasn’t wrong about his needing to be nicer.  It was just so much easier to be gruff and rude.  It scared people away and kept him safe from growing attached and getting hurt.  He had lost his pack.  And though he didn’t remember their names and faces; he remembered the joy, love, and warmth.  He still suffered the anguish of their loss.  He didn’t want to chance getting close to anyone, afraid to have them ripped away like that again.  He didn’t think he could survive it.
But like it or not, he had accepted Hizashi and Teris as his Ilca.  It was wrong to always be so sharp and distant with them.  He had to find a way to be nice and still guard himself.
“I’ll tell you when Teris gets back if you’re still up.”  Shouta said, tone mildly softer.
“Okay.” Hizashi beamed.

Teris exited the washroom and pulled the towel Kai had carefully wrapped around her hair, wet locks falling free.
Kai grimaced as droplets rained down on her robe and the expensive area rug beneath their feet.  It wasn’t the cost that bothered but the mess.  His chosen mate needed to learn to take more care.
“Here, let me.”  Kai held out a hand.
Teris pushed her wet hair back and balled up the towel.  “It’s fine.  I’m use to letting my hair dry on its own.”
“Then you could do with some pampering.”
“Kai. There’s no need to fuss.”
“You’re the one making a fuss, Beautiful.  Now hand me the towel and sit down and turn around.”
Teris rolled her eyes and sighed but did as she was told.
Kai collected her hair.  “There.  Was that so hard?”
“Yes.” Teris played.  She could feel Kai’s stare and turned, looking at him over her shoulder.
Kai raised a brow.
“No.” Teris admitted fighting a smile.  She faced forward.
Kai frowned down at the top of her head. He wasn’t adverse to playful banter.  In fact he had grown insanely jealous of the amount of inside jokes and laughter Teris had shared with Hizashi this evening.  He wanted to have that with her. He wanted to be the only one she had that with. But first he had to be sure Teris knew he would always be the one in control.  That she would respect and obey him in all things. Only when he was sure of that could he allow himself to be fully free with her.  His cause was simply too important to let it be otherwise.
To others it might seem like harmless playful banter.  But given his precarious position and aims, it could expose him and make him look weak; and weakness could mean death.  Too many Fourth's were counting on him.  The pride and continuation of dragon kind depended on him.  His life and wants were not his own.
He might have picked Teris to be his mate.  But there was still so much he didn’t know about her.  He didn’t even know what species of Fourth she was, other than that she was a pack beast of ancient heritage.  Despite his personal desires to form a connection as free and open as he had witness between her and Hizashi tonight, for the sake of his cause and followers he couldn’t do so until he was certain of her complete obedience and fealty.
“I didn’t realize you and Hizashi were so close.”  Kai said, after a moment of towel drying her hair.
Teris shrugged. “Not sure if it’s cause of what we went though together after being found and brought here.  But we kind of latched onto one another and became fast friends.  He’s like a brother.”
“I’m glad you have him.”  Kai said, surprise to find he actually meant it to a certain degree.
It couldn’t have been easy for Teris to be brought to Oblvi and learn another world existed.  That the beasts, spirits, sprites, and demons she’d previously thought as mythical were real and she was one of them.  Given all that, it was no wonder she was so close to Hizashi. No doubt her coming here would’ve been a lot harder on her if she’d gone through it alone.  For that Kai was grateful for Hizashi.
Thinking of how she was a pack beast, Kai asked.  “Did you have anyone close like that before you were found and brought here?”
Teris looked down, unconsciously picking at a hang nail.
“It couldn’t have been easy.  Being discovered and taken from them.” Kai prodded.
Teris’ eyes unfocused.  The memory of exiting a movie theater with her friends invading her mind like tidal wave.
The theater had been dark and deserted, a midnight showing the only time they could all meet up to drool over their favorite Hollywood hottie on the big screen.  For those few hours she had forgotten about the scarred man who had been following her for nearly a week.  That was until she had exited the theater to find him waiting outside.
The man had grinned, blue flames igniting from the mans hands.  Being the first one to exit, Teris spun and shoved her friends back inside.  With superhuman strength that she had later thought was from adrenaline before being brought here Teris bent the steel door frame locking the door in place.  With her friends safely locked inside, she turned to run; but it had been too late.  The scarred man was on her.
“Teris?”
The memory faded.  Teris swallowed.  Taking in a steadying breath she apologized.  “Sorry.  Can we talk about something else?”
“Sure.”
“Ryuu’s less scary than I first thought.”  Not wanting to mention her interview for both their sakes, Teris looked back at him.  “Thank you for giving me a chance to get to know him.”
“So you forgive me for planning tonight's dinner?”
“I wasn’t upset at you planning dinner.  I was--”  Not wanting to argue, she stopped herself and began again.  “I’m glad we were able to be here to divert your thoughts from whatever today rehashed.”
Kai caressed her cheek.  He had long ago bottled and buried the childhood fear he had over his interview and inspection; instead using the memory to spur his hate for the Council and fuel his drive for his cause.  But it warmed his heart that she thought she had cared for him and was glad for it. “I did it for you.”
“Well I certainly needed the diversion, so thank you.”
Kai tenderly kissed her.  Teris tugged at the back of his neck, deepening the kiss.  Kai groaned.  He wanted her on her back, robe off, now; but her hair was still a wet mess.
Kai straightened to his full height, breaking the kiss.  “Face front and let me finish.”
“If this is your way of making me wait to further entice, it’s annoying and working.”  Teris said as she turned her back to Kai.
Kai chuckled.  “Nice to know you’re so easy for me, Beautiful.”
“Ha!” Teris huffed.
Done drying, Kai proceeded to brush her hair.
Teris’ eyes slipped closed.  There was no clock in Kai’s rooms.  At least not the three rooms she’d been in.  But that didn’t matter.
She hadn’t lied to Hizashi when she said she’d only be an hour or two.  At least she hadn’t intended to lie.  At the time she had wanted to go home and sleep in her bed.  But the soft domestic comfort she found with Kai, coupled with the haunting memories today’s events churned up, had her wanting to stay the night.  She wondered if Kai would be alright with that.
Afraid to ask should he say no, she decided not to mention her desire to stay; instead choosing to wait and see if he asked her to leave.
Her scalp tingled, skin prickling.  “Mmm… That feels good.”
Kai continued working as he bent, head coming beside hers.  “See.  I know what’s good for you.”
“You sure do.”  Teris murmured, revealing in the bristles gentle rake over her scalp.  “Don’t ever let me doubt you again.”
Kai smiled slightly, taking in her profile.  “I won’t.  I promise.”

Shigaraki entered the abandoned warehouse, the closing door doing nothing to stifle the stench of humans. Damn, he hated this world with a vengeance.  Eyes adjusted to the darkness, he squinted, blue flames igniting on the towering loft.
“It’s common courtesy to knock.”  Dousing his blue flames, the Salamander stepped off the loft.  Long coat tails flapped behind his falling form.  Heavy boots hit the damp concrete floor with a resounding bang.  Dabi straightened.  “Then again, you strike me as too ill-bred to know what the word courtesy means.”
“I will strike you for real if you don’t shut up.”  Shigaraki said.
“I’d like to see you try, freeze-dried.”
Shigaraki’s eyelids fluttered, crimson eyes rolling.  This was why he had stayed away from Dabi during their time here. He couldn’t fathom why his Master wanted the Salamander alive.  Far as Shigaraki could tell Dabi was good for nothing other than getting on peoples nerves.  Sure Dabi had been the one to find and capture Teris.  But Dabi had lost her. And while Dabi’s flames were hotter and deadlier than most Salamander's; his wasn’t immune to his own fires heat.
“By this time tomorrow we’ll be back home and free these forced meetings.” Shigaraki told himself and Dabi.
“I’m thinking of staying on.”  Dabi said.
“What do you mean?”
“Here. In earths realm.”
“You can’t be serious.”  Shigaraki said, incredulous.
“Why not?  Humans are so much fun.”
“Humans are disgusting, weak vile creatures who smell.”
“I know.”  The scarred Salamander smiled, wickedly. “They’re so weak and smell so good.”
“Stay if you want.  See if I care.”  Shigaraki spat.
“You mean you’re not gonna try and reason with me, or say how my life belongs to the Master of All and I need to obey his order to return?”
“If our time together here has taught me anything, it’s that there’s no reasoning with you.” Shigaraki paused a beat, daggered eyes stabbing through Dabi. “And your life does belong to the Master.  So if you want to forfeit it by disobeying, so much the better.”
“Well you suddenly became a whole lot less fun.”  Dabi complained. “I’m glad we’re going home tomorrow.”

Teris slowly stalked through the forest in search of her prey.  She caught sight of tail flicking behind a tree and charged.  Her laughter resounded through the woods ruining the surprise attack.
Black wings spread from behind the tree trunk. In a flash of dabble grey and black fur, and whoosh of air her prey took to the sky with an echoing laugh.
Teris followed, chasing her new friend.
Hide and seek forgotten, a game of tag begun in its place. They flew and ran through the forest all afternoon. Swooping passed watchful guards.  Racing around chiding adults.  It was the best time Teris had ever had in her short life, and she never wanted it to end.
The sun was dipping low when a voice called for her.  “Teris.  It’s time to go.”
Teris skidded to a halt, the chasing boy running into her.  She looked back at her friend then turned to her father.  “Can’t we stay a bit longer, Papa?”
Standing with her new friends parents, her father shook his head.  “I’m afraid not, Chickadee.  Say your goodbyes.”
Teris took to the air with her father and their guards.  She looked back at the mass of rock caves that was her friends home, watching him grow smaller the further she got.
“Face front, Teris.  Always be looking forward.”  Her father told.
With reluctance, Teris turned away facing forward. “Will I see and play with him again?”
A purring growl resonated in her father’s chest. “I hope so, my dear.  For all our sakes, I hope so.”
The dream changed from forgotten memory to a rather forgotten nightmare.
“I hope for your sake you remember, little bird.”
“Remember what!”  Teris cried, cowering away from the scarred mans blue flames.  “I don’t know what you want.  Please!  Just tell me what you want.  I’ll do anything.  Say, anything. Please.  Please. Just tell me what to say.”
“It doesn’t work that way, lion cub.  If I knew these things, I wouldn’t need you, now would I.”
Teris trembled despite the searing heat.  The man was going to kill her if he got what he wanted.  At the rate things were going, he was going to kill her either way.  How she had healed from the blue fires, let alone survived them was a wonder.
“Remember, Teris.  It’s bad enough your very existence will rip apart the feeble peace our new overlords have made.  If you don’t remember there will be war.  You’ll be to blame for millions of deaths. Towns and cities will crumble and burn.  Blood with stain the ground and flow in stream and sea.  Do you really want to be the cause of so much death?  Do you want to be what ends our world?  Remember!”
Teris threw her arms over her head and pulled at her hair.  “No!”
Kai jolted awake, face smacked by something.  His fighting instinct died in the space of a rapid heartbeat.  Teris laid naked beside him, restless and mumbling in her sleep. Sometime during the night she had shifted out of his arms; but that wasn’t what bothered him at the moment.  No.  It was the way her face was pinched in fear and pain.  Her sweet lips pressed between her teeth biting them raw.  Hands tangled in her hair, roughly pulling.
Kai firmly grasped her hands, staying their tortuous tug. “Teris.”
She moaned in anguish.
“Teris, you’re dreaming. Wake-up, Sweetheart.”
Teris’ eyes snapped open.  She pushed against the person in front of her, trying to back away.
Kai’s arm wrapped around her, holding her fast.  “It’s me.  You’re safe.”
Her eyes cleared of the nightmares fog.  “Kai.”  She clasped his shoulders, needing something solid and strong to anchor to.
Kai’s arm tightened around her, the other smoothing her hair. “It’s okay.  I got you.  It was just a dream.  You’re safe, here with me.”
Teris buried her face in his chest, fighting oncoming tears.  She had woken-up alone in her chambers numerous times from nightmares about the scarred man.  Each time she had broken down crying. But her pride wouldn’t allow her to do so with Kai.  Even if it did, she still would've held back.  Kai was stronger and just as proud as she was.  Tears would likely make him uncomfortable and be a sign of weakness.
“You’re shivering.  I’ll start a fire.”  Kai propped up in bed.
Teris’ head jerked up, eyes wild.  “No fire!”
At the same time as her plea, Kai’s amber eyes glowed.  He blew out a puff of orange flames in the direction of the fireplace.  The fireball flew across the room and struck a pile of wood set in the hearth.
Kai turned back to her.  “I wasn’t going to leave your side.”
Teris’ trembling died down.  It wasn’t blue fire.  She wasn’t the scarred mans captive.  She was free, and safe with Kai.  Kai would never let anyone hurt her.
“I’m sorry I woke you.”
“Hey.” Kai’s hand cupped her face, attempting to lift it.  “Look at me.”  He commanded when she fought against him.
Teris slowly lifted her head.
“If you’re ever upset, distressed, or in trouble I want you to come to me.  I don’t care what’s going on or what time it is, if I’m asleep or in a meeting.  If I’m away on mission one of my Ilca will find me while other watches over you.”
“Kai--”
His hand gripped the back of her neck. “No matter what it is, you are to come to me.  Understand?”
“Kai, I--”
“Do you understand?”  Kai pressed, hand tightening a fraction.
Her eyes searched his.  He was so handsome, gold eyes shimmering in the warm dancing firelight.  He’s flames were nothing like Dabi’s cold, consuming fire.  She could bask in his hold and comfort forever. But one thing she couldn’t do was say she understood.  She was simply to proud and independent to agree to something like that.
She kissed him, letting her lips and tongue tell of her appreciation despite her refusal to accept.
Kai returned her hungry kiss.  He knew full well what she was doing but couldn’t deny his quickly hardening cock.  Not when her hot, naked body grooved against his. He would let it go for now.  But the conversation wasn’t over.
“Let me take care of you.”  Kai murmured against her lips.
“Kai…” For a moment she thought he was continuing to press the matter.
Kai rolled her onto her back, heated kisses moving to her neck.  “Lay back and relax.  Let me take care of you, Beautiful.”
Teris sucked in a stuttering breath, back arching herself up against him.
Kai breathed in her scent, nose gliding up her pulse point.  “Still so eager and needy.  And after I gave you how many orgasms this night?  How many do I think I can give you this time?”
Teris’ hips rolled against his.  “Kai. Please.”
“Patience, my Sweet.”
Teris mewled, lashes fluttering.
Kai’s lips pulled along the line of her jaw, trailing open mouthed kisses down her chest.  “I’m going to take such good care of you.”
Her head lifted as he got to her stomach, realization dawning.
Kai’s honeyed eyes shined up at her over the expanse of her body.  “Don’t worry, Gorgeous.  I’ll give you my cock soon enough.  But first, I’m going to enjoy a midnight snack.”
Next chapter is the Fall Harvest Moon Festival. Or, as someone on here called it, the Orgey Festival. lol

Monday night and Tuesday saw Izumi looking out the living room window feeling lost.
Izumi knew that being in the past was a good thing, a great thing even. She had already changed some lives for the better and there were still more coming.
She had all of the evidence needed against Endeavour, she was just waiting on Rei to call her for it, and with taking the work studies offer Izumi was sure she could weezle her way into Eri's parents hearts and take custody if the same tragedy of her rewinding her fathers existence happens again.
It was just that she missed her class, she missed all the shenanigans they got into, and missed fighting with Bakugou.
She had no real reason to miss it though and that's what bugged her. She knew that her friends were using her as a way to slack off when they just copied her homework or to better their quirks, they hadn't ever really been there for her like friends were supposed to be, like Shōta, Nemuri, Oboro, and Hizashi were.
Being back in time also gave her the space to actually examine how she had been treated by Bakugou and her mother. If she had seen any child treated like that she would have done something, why hadn't anyone done anything even after she had gotten into UA.
These thoughts were doing her no good, but Izumi couldn't shake them. The fact that she usually made herself so busy to not think was working against her when she had nothing really to focus on.
Maybe she should try to contact Rei, or maybe suck it up and contact aunt Mitsuki, she really was going to need help with tops and jackets for Keigo.
Izumi didn't move though, she just stared out the window listless.
She watched as the moon made its way across the sky chased by the sun's rays, she didn't move when Nezu came into the room and tried speaking to her, she just blinked dull eyes at the stoat.
Izumi saw Nezu give a sad smile before he pinched the meat of her thigh with his claws.
Izumi yelped as she felt herself slam back into her body.
"Sorry." Nezu says to her the same sad smile in place. "You've been gone ever since you got back home on Monday, I need you here today."
"Mmm, sorry dad, just got a shock for internships, and then had a meeting with Ida, made me think dark things." Izumi explained as she started to slowly test her joints.
"Keigo is being released fully into my custody today, we are both needed at the school for homeroom and heroics so he will be joining us today, you have no appointments so if you would watch him?" When what Nezu is saying finally registers in her slow moving mind she feels a smile spread on her lips.
"Un." Izumi grunts as she forces herself to move and get ready for the day.
"You have two hours, I would very much like to braid your hair today though if you don't mind?" Izumi cant help herself from kneeling and hugging Nezu, she knew he had trouble socially but he tried so hard for her, she loved him for it.
A long shower had her joints and muscles relaxed enough that moving around was easier, even sitting still for her braid was easy in a way that it usually wasn't when she hadn't moved for a while. Her body was so used to being on the move that when she stopped for long periods of time it tended to hurt.
"It's still early, but our lawyer is dropping Keigo off at the school. You weren't really there when I explained that Keigo had been staying with our lawyer as the custody papers were processed." Nezu explained why he had 'woken' her.
"It's okay, I plan on contacting Bakugou today, so I can do that as we wait for him and, or class."
Izumi is a little anxious about it, but she knows that it will work, given that she had the altered photos already planted.
The two split off from each other, Nezu went to wait by the gate as Izumi went to her classroom.
Once at her desk she opened and unlocked her laptop, she took a deep breath and started her email.
Subject: hi, it's been a long time.
Hi Mitsuki, I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Inko's little sister.
My new name is now Nezu Izumi! I made it into UA and was adopted two years ago now.
Recently my adopted dad has adopted a little boy who has a wing mutation, and when we went shopping for tops I was sorely disappointed at the selection of three styles offered.
I was hoping that even if you don't remember me you would be willing to help me learn to alter shirts and jackets for him, or if you would be willing to make them yourself. I remember you always working on fashion before I went into foster care.
Thank you
Nezu Izumi.
Izumi clicked the send button before she could give it much thought, hopefully Mitsuki would look through her photos that Izumi knew were all kept electronically and felt bad enough for forgetting Izumi she would help.
The door to the classroom slammed open and Izumi caught a blur of red and blond as Keigo flung himself into her.
"Rosefinch!" Izumi yelped, happy to see her nestling.
"Izu-nee! You're really my sister now!" Keigo sobbed into her shoulder, Izumi just held him tightly rocking side to side with him.
The morning passed quickly for Izumi who focuses on giving all her love and attention to Keigo, she only really had to stop for heroics.
Keigo was still sitting in her lap as Echo joined the class for choosing hero names, Izumi was still on the fence, she had thought about using Electra but is was just a rip off of prequirk comics, she also thought of using Dekiru paying a little bit of homage to her past, her last thought was simply going by Bear, or Cub, eh maybe the others could help, then again.
"I don't care what my hero name is." She heard Shōta grumble to Hizashi.
"Then I'll name you!" Hizashi stood knocking his chair over. "Your hero name is...uh... EraserHead!" He exclaimed.
"Okay." Shōta agreed before dropping his forehead on his desk.
Izumi sighed before she started listening to the names being given.
"FatGum."
"Mandalay."
"Record."
"Present Mic."
"Ryukin."
"LoudCloud."
"EraserHead."
"Thumper."
"BassBeat."
"Dreamer."
"Timcanpy."
With all eleven other students done Izumi froze, she didn't know, she had no idea.
"Nezu?" Echo broke her thoughts.
"Huh?" Izumi asked, a little dazed from being broken from her rapidly spiraling thoughts.
"Huh, the confused hero." Nezu spoke from the front of the room. "It fits well Izumi, as we like to say, 'Am I a rat? Am I a bear? Am I a dog? Am I human? It doesn't matter, I'm...' I do believe it fits our family well." He sounds proud and it just makes Izumi nod.
Well she had a hero name, and her dad was right.
By the end of the school day Izumi was tired, she hadn't slept since Sunday night, she begged off dinner in her exhaustion, also citing that it would give the two males time to bond. Izumi took very little time changing and borrowing under her blankets.
Waking to Keigo jumping on her bed as his wings fluttered had Izumi groaning before she grabbed Keigo's ankles and pulled him in for cuddles.
"Sush little rosefinch, you're being cuddled." Izumi grumbles and she holds Keigo tightly against her chest.
Keigo flaps his wings to get away, only he lifts them both off the bed. His wings freeze when he registers that he just lifted Izumi and they both fall back to the bed with groans from having the air knocked out of them.
"Rosefinch, should we practice flying today?" Izumi asks gently.
Keigo is wide eyed still but he answers. "I can fly, I just didn't know I could lift others."
"Ah, okay well we can work on that, we know you can lift me, or we can wait until you're older." She tells him seriously.
She gets up leaving the rosefinch in her bed, after a quick shower she's back in her now kid free room throwing on her uniform and pulling her hair into a ponytail.
Skipping down the stairs she grabs an apple and a to-go mug of coffee, Nezu and Keigo are already waiting at the door for her.
The walk to the school was full of Keigo chatting about all the things that he wanted to try that the commission had told him no.
Learning to swim, ride a bike, go to school, and have friends. Not having to do things like train all day.
Izumi and Nezu followed behind the happy boy, smiling gently.
