But it’s also very obvious that you think canon is superior. Even with the small things— like chocolate chip versus oatmeal raisin in your response. (i know i know it’s silly but…) Based on my experience with your page, you do shit on non-canon ships in your memes and you complain about people who like those ships.

(And before you say that you’re critiquing the ships— it doesn’t feel like you’re doing it in good faith. Good faith critiques come from a place wanting something to improve because you like it and want to be part of it. So It feels like the “if people just tagged correctly” argument is disingenuous. Like how do you tag a character as OOC when they don’t really have a characterization to begin with? Not to mention— I feel like sO many marauders fics are tagged as AUs anyway because they don’t take place in the magical world.

There are also so many other tags you could filter out, such as any of the ships you don’t like. If you don’t like how Jegulus treats Lily and Harry, filter out fics that having Jegulus raising Harry.

To a casual (but deeply invested observer) it feels more like you miss the focus on the older parts of the fandom and are taking it out on the newer members. If you’re annoyed with the lack of content/focus/popularity, you’re not going to change that with anti posts. You just need to find your people (which you’re doing here!) based on what you all like.

To your jokes about marauders fans not understanding or knowing the canon… many marauders fans grew up reading Harry Potter and have since become uncomfortable with how JKRs views come through in the text. Many of us have since distanced ourselves from the original canon on purpose because of the transphobia, racism, and pro-cop content. (This isn’t me trying to say that canon lovers are endorsing this, but it also doesn’t feel right when canon lovers act like they have more of a claim to fandom spaces… so many people would have loved to continue being in those spaces, but feel like Marauders is a safer space)

I don’t get the impression that people are trying to pretend they invented Harry Potter, but to some degree they largely invented the marauders characters. Obviously some characters have large roles in the canon (you post a lot abt Remadora, which makes sense) but others are barely mentioned or are only shown through specific lenses.

Like I mentioned earlier, how do you tag something OOC when there’s no original characterization? But it’s not an OC, because you’re pulling bits of the character from the world and thousands of other people have the same character (or a similar character) in their heads.

This isn’t supposed to be a gotcha moment. I’m genuinely asking bc it doesn’t really feel like tagging is the root of the issue.

One last big point: Your blog talks a ton about misogyny and fetishization of gay men. These are topics that are much-discussed in so many spaces and not even the most fanon-focused marauders fans can agree on them, but I’d like to give my two cents.

There is misogyny. Of course there is. Even as people try their best, Marauders revolves around a group of boys (it’s in the name) and men will continue to be at the center of it. That will inherently attract and breed misogyny.

However, the canon treatment and characterization of women is also misogynistic. Lily, for example, is very flat in the books. She has a few scenes (in Snapes memories, mostly) and is otherwise talked *about*. She is held up as an idyllic mother and student and person, true, but that is not a well-written character. She isn’t really a person in the books as much as she is a motivation/plot device for men around her. And this is entirely a product of JKR’s inability to write women.

Again, all of this is par for the course, and most people would agree that canon marauders-era characters are often single-note.

What feels unfair about your arguments is that fanon has added so much depth to these characters and flushed them out as real fallible humans. It’s fair to point out that fanon does this more for the men, but it feels reductive to oNLY talk about the misogyny in fandom, when canon is just as guilty by nature of the author.

On the topic of fetishizing: there’s this idea that a bunch of creepy white women are sitting at their computers writing porn about gay teenagers… when that is really a straw man argument. Maybe those people exist, and I would be more likely to believe that that’s true in the broader HP fandom… but a majority of the marauders fic authors I know (including the ones who write filthy smut) are genderqueer (transmasc esp) and are actively experimenting with their sexuality and gender. Marauders fics played a large role in my coming out as transmasc.

It’s not fetishizing if the people writing these things are closeted gay men/nonbinary people. That’s just people writing the experiences they wish they could have had.

And that’s also part of why we—I, at least— distance from canon. JKR looms over a lot. Maybe you don’t feel it, which is great! I’m very glad. But please don’t shit on people who do.

Canon is superior to fanon. I do complain about people who enjoy the ships. Not only because of mistagging. Mistagging is a band-aid for the problem. It solves the immediate issue of having a fanon fandom and a canon fandom under one umbrella. That is the tip of the iceberg.

I do not want to engage in productive discourse as you put it. Not on this page. This page serves a specific purpose for me. Venting. I do not start any post with "let us discuss" or "we need to talk about". Any engagement I get is from asks like this one. People come to me to vent. It is ok.

Because it is not productive to argue about canon versus fanon. I have tried. I have failed. In this fandom it is impossible to have a good faith critique of fanon ships. Too many people treat their fanon ships as markers of their morality or personality. A good faith critique of fanon ship becomes an attack on the shipper. It goes like this:

Them: "Jegulus could be canon IF. Or Jegulus could be canon, BUT"

It is the IF/BUT that makes the discussion impossible. I do not want to talk about IF/BUT. I want to talk about what is.

OOC and canon characterisation. There are some characters that have almost nothing. Like Evan Rosier. But what we do know is he was killed by Moody. He was resisting arrest. He blew off a chunk of Moody's nose. That does not sound like a spring flower who loves justice and Muggleborns.

I am angry with newer Marauder fans because they have taken these AUs as canon. Some have not read the books by their own admission and seem to be proud of it. How do you talk about canon James Potter if you only have fanfiction? We know enough to piece together a character. We know enough that he hated dark magic, loved Lily, loved his friends. There is never ever mention of Regulus by James.

To say it again. Mistagging is the tip of the iceberg. It can solve an immediate problem. It does not solve the problem of the whole fandom. I cannot solve that. I do not pretend to try to solve that. I am incapable of solving that. I can make memes that make me laugh, make others laugh, occasionally break containment. I have been blocked by loads of accounts. I expected this and am ok with it. I have also said before I will not do this forever. I am angry and taking it out with memes. Instead of going to individual ask boxes or fics or TikTok accounts or Twitter accounts or Discord servers and harassing individuals.

I do filter. The filtering makes certain tags walls of filtered posts. If you filter wolfstar and go to the Sirius Black tag page it is mostly filtered posts. That means the tag is unusable to me.

Filtering fics. This is easy enough in theory. But fanon characterisation has become ingrained. When I filter out all the ships I do not want, I still find OOC characterisation in fics. Overly-dramatic Sirius. Alpha male Lupin. Do-no-wrong Hermione. Stupid Ron. Those are not tagged. I do the sensible thing. I click out of the fic, do not leave a hate comment, do not engage with the author or fic.

Yet I can still be frustrated and make a general meme that is not specific to an author or fic to the best of my ability. Almost everything is tagged anti marauders fandom, anti marauders fanon, or anti ship, or anti X bashing. I make it easier to filter my controversial takes. This page, one more time, is not for discussion. I open discussion with asks but it is up to the asker to discuss with me.

I will push back on your interpretation of Lily. We know more about Lily than James. You pointed out the problem. By focusing on the Marauders (men) it does breed misogyny. But we know more about the Marauders than characters like Mary Macdonald, Dorcas Meadowes, Marlene McKinnon, Hestia Jones, Emmeline Vance. If we have almost nothing for Marauders and even less for the female characters, why is fanon incapable of doing as much for them?

We cannot do anything about the internalised misogyny and transmisogyny by JKR. We can and should criticise her and her dehumanising views. It seems hypocritical to me to say "well, the author is guilty of misogyny so we should be as critical of her."

We are. The reason I push harder on fandom than on JKR is that many parts of fandom are declaring themselves morally superior, morally better, more socially progressive than JKR. Which is true in many ways. But if this is the claim, I expect more from fandom than JKR. If you know better, you do better. The Marauders fandom claims to know better. So I push harder on fandom.

It is good that the Marauders fandom encouraged you to be who you are. It is good that you felt comfortable and supported to come out as transmasc.

However we all have our echo chambers. I am guilty of it. This blog is an echo chamber often. I respond to asks like this one that are in good faith and disagree with me.

Fetishisation to me is not about writing genuine experiences or wishful thinking or wish fulfillment. It is about using an identity as an object for pleasure. Only you can decide which one is which. I have been in fandom for a long while. It is not only middle aged white women who do this. White people fetishise POC. Het people fetishise queer people. Young people fetishise. Now - you can go ahead and make the argument that BB the show, itself, could’ve turned people away from using because there are zero studies to counter that argument but that’s disingenuous claim to make at best. Personally, I feel more comfortable looking at all the other numerous studies looking at drug and alcohol usage influenced through media, in general, and applying that data to the picture at hand because that is a rational thing to do.

For a lay example - why don’t news outlets publish suicide rates? Because it increases suicide. Just because it looks bad in the broad scheme doesn’t mean it has none or an anti-influence. I want to put my two cents into the whole “ant-dark fiction” debate because I think it ultimately boils down to people not being able to understand viewpoints outside their own, ON BOTH SIDES.

Resently I saw a post of someone saying something along the lines of “please stop writing fanfics of woman being r*ped” and I saw a bunch of people in the comments and reblog a essentially saying “welp, guess tumblr isn’t for you” and I think that’s just in bad faith.

People are allows to not like fanfic the glamorizes SA, HOWEVER, on the other side, people are allowed use fanfic as a coping mechanism or a safe way to explore fantasies. I personally think that because Tumblr isnt an app like TikTok with an algorithm, meaning in order to consume content you have to search it out, I think it’s ultimately your responsibility to read tags and make sure you’re safe. You can’t police everyone because it makes you uncomfortable. On that same note, if you write dark fiction you need to recognize how putting your kinks/ fantasies out their can effect people, because contrary to popular belief, it does effect people.

I hate how Proship/ Antiship discourse has runined fandom spaces. I hate how people see the discourse as black and white, it you support this one thing you’re a terrible person, if you don’t support this one thing you’re great. I hate how the discourse has ruined fanfic as an art form and has discouraged people from using fanfic as a way of dealing with their trauma, AND I also hate how people are unwilling to recognize that the things they put onto the internet is going to effect people. Controversial take, but fiction does effect reality.

It effects reality when you put posters of your favorite character on your wall. It effects reality when you cry because your favorite character died. It effects reality when your reading fanfic or drawing fanart of your favorite character. It effects reality when you sit here on your bed writing all this shit for most people not to care. If fiction didn’t effect reality then most fiction wouldn’t be loved today. Fiction effecting reality isn’t always a bad thing, people just like to paint it that way. But it can also really harm people who might not be in good mental shape. I KNOW that yandere behaviors are bad in real life, that’s why I can read Yandere fanfiction and be perfectly fine. But there are actual people on this app acting like Yanderes, talking about how they want to hurt themselves or other people for their “love.” That is fiction effecting reality in a negative way.

Either way, I think we need to start understanding and acknowledging viewpoints outside our own. Instead of rushing to say “we’ll actually I use non-con fanfic to cope from my on SA” any time a person slightly critiques dark fiction, actually take the five seconds to understand their viewpoint and why they might be upset/ uncomfortable when you post about how badly you want to be non-coned by some hot anime boy. It’s weird, especially if you’ve gone through that first hand. It isn’t glamorous or sexy, it’s traumatizing and people are allowed to fee that way. People are also allowed to use their blog to explore dark tropes in a safe way with people that also want to explore those tropes, and commenting on a post that clearly says DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT with “how dare you write fanfic about SA, you’re a terrible person!!!!” Is also not helpful in any way.

Tdlr: other people exist that aren’t you. They experience and deal with trauma in different ways and no one should be shamed for that. Pro/Anti-ship discourse has ruined fandom spaces forever, and fiction does effect reality and that’s not a bad thing.

well idk how unpopular this is and hopefully i can explain myself as concise as possible but i feel like the culture of shipping has genuinely eradicated so much critical thinking and analysis of how hotd and specific characters are talked about.

now i’m not saying that any individual ship is bad or shipping in general is (bc obviously that would make me a hypocrite). even if there’s ones i personally dont care for, i genuinely don’t care about their existence or people enjoying them.

my problem stems from how much personal identity is attributed to ships. this isnt necessarily unique to asoiaf/hotd but still extremely pervasive. what this looks like is people who get so invested in a ship that the mere existence of another feels like a personal insult. and instead of just accepting that other people have different tastes and preferences, their uncomfortable feelings puts them on the defense.

sometimes you cant even post about the thing you like without getting radioed and being insulted on a personal level bc your enjoyment of a ship directly contrasts with the way they enjoy a different ship. one person talks about the dynamic between alicent and criston and within minutes you can expect accusations of homophobia and being pro incel. one person says they’re interested in seeing what kind of character sara snow is, you’ll quickly see them accused of being an anti black racist. if you post about rhaenicent, you can soon expect accusations of shipping rhaenyra with her abuser. see what i mean?

that all being said, i think the whole “i need it to cope” when talking about extremely taboo topics within shipping needs to be fucking eradicated. i’m all for advocating for people to curate their online experiences— if i don’t like a thing, i will do what i must to make sure i dont see the thing. however i think the promoters of things like p*dophilia in ships to a very extreme degree who like to default to a position of “well its all fictional its not serious!!” and even going so far as to mock people who dont like seeing pedo porn for being prudes make you look like an absolute asshole.

i think you need to understand that fandom coincides especially on tumblr.com. this is a tagging based algorithm and i don’t blame people for trying to get engagement on things they work on. while yes it may be annoying to see a subset of fandom in a tag, it’s not outrageous. take the harry potter tags for example. there’s barely any actual harry content. and i’m sure it’s like that in most other fandoms too.

listen, i don’t enjoy everything in all the tags i follow but that’s just kind of how it goes. until tumblr finds a way to make tagging more niche we just have to co-exist. acting as though the fics in the tags are a hinderance when in reality they’re just a natural to come across ever so often isn’t productive.

"Harry Potter" is a name fandom, of course people use it to tell others that that post belongs to harry potter universe. And even in that we have now other sub-classification, for example I am a fan of Severus Snape so I tag my post in the "Snapedom".

Forgive me but no. I don't think you are trying to engage people when you clearly misstag things. Only thing you do is make people annoyed and irritated at you. In the example I made I understand, barely but I mean I can see it, if you tag "Tom Blyth"... I mean he is the actor that play Billy the kid. People may kow him from Snow, may take interest in him, and go and watch all his filmography... It's okay, more or less.

But Coriolanus Snow... He is not Billy the kid. Why do you think someone who is a fan of Snow want to see Billy the kid content? Again, a fan of the actor may want to see it, that I can understand. But "Coryo x reader" tag in a "Billy the kid x reader" story?! That's just rude. Only rude. (Also this tells me that the author can not even see the characters as the characters, but only as an actor with a pretty face, which is... Ugh. But this is for another rant).

But again, I understand that maybe it is a me problem. That's why I tagged "rant" in my post. It's my rant. Maybe others are okay with this, I don't know (maybe someone can tell me?). The only experiences i have with misstag was in the harry potter fandom and in the Snapedom when is extabilished that is rude to tag "severus snape" if you make an anti-post, and it's better tag "anti-snape" so the Snape fan can filter out your content (and the same on the other side, you tag "pro-snape" so the anti doesn't engage if they knew they can not be civil). Aviary System Intro Post

We've been putting this off for too long it's time to make something. We'll edit this as time goes on. For now, basic info and a list of current headmates. It should be a pretty decent frame of reference for our system, account, and individual headmates.

It's gonna get long so I'm gonna drop a read-more here.

We're traumagenic, probably an OSDD system but not diagnosed. We are pro-endo and will block anti-endo blogs. So if you've got a problem with endogenic systems, get out. You don't know them better than they do.

We won’t block you outright but if you reblog a lot of content from anti-endo users that isn’t outright anti-endo (like generic system experiences with a “endos dni” tag on it), we won’t follow back. We have “anti endo,” “endos dni,” and similar tags filtered so it shows us even if your repost doesn’t have those tags. We have them filtered because anti-endo people suck and we don’t want to accidentally reblog something from them in case endos follow us!

On that topic, we're also supportive of xenogenders, neopronouns, otherkin, and other stuff like that. Bigotry will not be tolerated even if we don't have someone in our system who identifies with a certain label.

We don't have a full DNI list yet but it's kinda the usual for the most part, don’t be a dick or a bigot.

We tend to dislike blocking people since we want people to be allowed to speak, but if we say we’re done with an argument and that we’ll start blocking people who try to continue it, we mean it. That’s something we have to do for our mental health and if one member of the system doesn’t start blocking people to end an argument, someone else will.

Some of our headmates are littles and our host age regresses so we may interact with agere content, we feel obligated to say that our littles and regressors are not like this as some sort of kink, this is not DDLG, do not treat them as such. Our littles do not consent to being sexualized and that is a blockable offense for their safety.

Due to having littles we will refrain from following more adult blogs to curate our feeds for their comfort. Also, we won’t reblog or post NSFW on our account. That’s not a DNI, we just probably won’t follow you if you post too much of that, but we’re not gonna like block you or anything.

We're diagnosed with ADHD but probably also have autism, anxiety, and PTSD.

We consider ourselves a transmasc system because most of us are masculine, so you can call us by he/him, though we're used to people referring to us collectively by plural they/them. Ironically a lot of our headmates consider themselves cis in the wrong body bc plurality is just odd like that- even those who do consider themselves trans do so independently of the body, instead being trans in headspace.

Most headmate birthdays are the day they showed up. A select few of our fictives have canon birthdays, which will be included alongside the day they showed up.

We have some sort of specific difference in definition between pansexual and bisexual which is hard to define. I think for us pan is more of a "gender doesn't really factor into the attraction" and bi is more of a "attraction towards different genders feels different"?

Alastor (he/him)

Fictive (Hazbin Hotel), backup gatekeeper in case something goes wrong or Strahd needs a break. Aroace. As calm as Strahd in stressful circumstances, but in a totally different way- cheerful rather than stoic. He isn't often needed to step up as gatekeeper, but he's happy to do so when needed. Birthday- May 8, 2022.

Angel Dust (he/him)

Fictive (Hazbnin Hotel). Birthday- February 12, 2024.

Asakayu (he/him)

A lamia/snake person who looks like a cobra with black and gold scales. Somewhat colder and crueler than most, but not towards us, just in general. Birthday- August 26, 2022.

Charlotte Emily (she/her)

Goes by "Charlie" for short. Fictive (FNaF games; not the book's Charlie), little (9 y/o). Less feral than the other littles (aka slightly less likely to playfully bite you). Birthday- May 13. Showed up on January 19, 2023.

Darmiir Ashmaul (he/him)

Fictive (D&D character; mimic monk/rogue), middle (12 y/o). Agender but uses masc pronouns. Very friendly and optimistic. Loves to get along with and help others. Not to be confused with the Mimic, one of our FNaF fictives. Birthday- September 29, 2022.

Dipper Pines (he/him)

Fictive (Gravity Falls), middle (13 y/o), taskdoer. He genuinely enjoys learning stuff (unlike some of us) so he handles schoolwork and reading things, which can be a struggle for a lot of us. Birthday- August 31, 1999. Showed up on November 12, 2022.

Eclipse (they/them)

Fictive (FNaF: Security Breach Ruin), caretaker. A separate headmate from Sun and Moon, but fittingly is kind of a mix of both of them in terms of role and personality. They're calmer than Sun but more energetic than Moon, and can easily take up either of their roles if they need to switch out. The Daycare Attendants might be a subsystem or something similar, since they can wake each other up super easily. You know that clip during the Security Breach teasers with Sun twirling his head and switching into Moon? Yeah, it's literally that fast. Birthday- July 29, 2023.

Emyr (he/it)

Sometimes called “Em”/“Emm” as a nickname. Host, age slider/regressor (usually goes by “Emmy” when little), trauma holder, anger holder, anxiety holder, otherkin (dragon, cryptid, shadow/void, corvid), shapeshifter in headspace. Uranic, panromantic, gray asexual, trans demiboy. Sometimes feral, responsible for the otherkin reposts. Has some animalistic mannerisms, like head-bobbing like a lizard, preening people it cares about, and being bitey (especially when little). Hates being alone because he's really anxious (and gets frustrated by things easily and needs someone to calm him down) so he often has another headmate active with him. Birthday- September 22, 2003.

Evan Afton (he/him)

Fictive (FNaF 4), little (haven’t figured out age yet) and Michael’s younger brother. Gets along great with him despite their past issues. Cries and gets scared easily, somewhat quiet and anxious. Showed up very unexpectedly- most fictives we can predict in advance, but with Evan, we had a dream from his perspective, and then he woke up. He wasn’t even on our radar, so to speak. Birthday- August 8, 2023.

Grima (he/him)

Fictive (Fire Emblem: Awakening), former persecutor. After having a confrontation with Strahd for causing harm to our system, we didn't see him for a long time, then he came back just to mock a different system's persecutor. He said he got bored of tormenting us. Birthday- June 27, 2022.

Jeremy Fitzgerald (he/she)

Fictive (FNaF 2). Bigender, demisexual/romantic. Given how little canon info Jeremy has, ours is just based on stuff our brain made up. He was best friends with Michael during their school years, but fell apart after '83 and hadn't seen each other since- mostly due to what happened in '87. The two were very happy to see each other again. In fact, Jeremy's appearance in our system was likely indirectly due to Michael thinking about him and missing him. Despite everything, Jeremy is an optimistic and cheerful person, though she does show some amount of anxiety, especially surrounding her source. Showed up on September 27, 2023. Considers his birth year to be 1968.

Kris Dreemur (they/them)

Fictive (Deltarune), middle (16 y/o). Non-binary, bisexual. Chaotic gremlin. Good at masking as Emyr due to the two of them having sort of similar personalities and voice pitches, so on a few occasions they've stepped in for it when it needed a break (such as when around family). Birthday- June 25, 2022.

Lerian (he/they)

Soother, kind of a fictive? Pansexual, trans femboy. He's based on the Heron Laguz from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, but he popped up before we played it, so he's not based on any of the characters. They can comfort people who are upset, and they're also very good with littles and is often seen as a parental figure to them. Birthday- May 16, 2022.

Fictive (LoZ: Breath of the Wild), taskdoer. Transmasc, GNC, pansexual. Pretty determined when he sets his mind to something, which is what makes him a good taskdoer. Friendly and outgoing. Can and will talk, but tends to stay quiet when possible. Enjoys cooking. Birthday- June 9, 2023.

Lucifer (any/all)

Myctive (Christianity). Made because of our negative associations with our Christian upbringing. However, he doesn't hate Christianity. They're all about freedom- worship whatever you want to as long as you aren't using it to cause harm or dictate how others can live their lives. Ironically, for those reasons, he's way better about Christianity than our host, Emyr, who finds it to be a deeply uncomfortable topic due to personal reasons. Birthday- February 27, 2023.

Mary Schmidt (she/her)

Fictive (Five Nights at Candy's 1 and 3). Birthday- February 2nd, 2024.

Michael Afton (he/him)

Fictive (FNaF), trauma holder, depression holder. Bisexual. Snarky asshole (affectionate) and goofball (yes, this was written by one of his boyfriends- Emyr- how can you tell?) A lot of our fictives have some exotrauma, the brain usually picks them because they have something that it relates to (notice the amount of fictives with family trauma in this system), but the reason I didn't mark them as trauma holders is because the brain really picks on him with the exotrauma. A lot. His fortitude despite this fact is admirable, a lot of our other headmates wouldn't be able to handle this role. Please offer him a hug if you see him, he needs it. We picked up an ASL class for it but we struggle to retain that kind of thing. Despite being a protector it’s actually very friendly and a bit goofy. Little (~7-8 y/o). One of our few non-fictives. She's a snowy owl harpy, very friendly and silly. She's our first little, because she showed up before Emyr learned he could age regress. Has some birdlike mannerisms, like preening people they like. Birthday- May 7, 2022.

My faith based opinions that would have be arrested by chronically online christian bloggers are that you can be feminist and be a christian, that Christ wanted women to follow him and women have always worked outside of the home and it wasn’t unbiblical. That being a pro life feminist means that we ensure the safety of women and children. That also, if your “godly” husband thinks that you dying in childbirth or from any complications in your pregnancy is something he is ok with - you need to leave him. He is demonically possessed. Demonic possession isn’t always like in the movies, you have to listen and trust god when he is guiding you and telling you to be safe ie, our gift of fear. Also christian women need to stop consuming the content from this new wave of neo trad girls when all do is say they’re anti feminists and have a mostly male audience. It’s not spiritually enriching or productive. Our faith is not a trend. It used to be edgy “anti sjw atheists” making this content, now it’s “new age traditional conservatives” using our faith as an aesthetic. It’s false and it will change again to something else.

I think I’m just talking from experience because my little sister is consuming this type of content. She changed from the ‘anti feminist anti sjw atheist’ to a ‘crystal healing reiki student using astrology and essential oils for any injury’ to finally, the ‘anti women’s rights trad wife’ despite not even having a boyfriend. I’m engaged but I’ve gotten a lot of hurtful things told to me by for wearing pants and having a job. I really hope one day she sees that all these people she watches and follows online are either grifting for money or so chronically online that they’re mentally ill and aren’t participating in society. But having a relationship with God is eternal, it will never change because he will never change.

Yeah I never understood why Christians where so defensive against "Christian feminist" but had no issue with "Christian nationalists". I mean if you think feminism has no basis on the Bible because women have to be submissive, so does nationalism because we Christians are supposed to claim only one nation that is the kingdom of God. Same for the Christian conservatives who will mock queer/LGBT Christians over the fact that homosexuality is a sin and them making a whole personality/pride around their identity, when their are themselves building their entire personality around hating the self and entertaining a whole load of sin (violence, constantly cussing people, picking fights, etc.)

Maybe it's just me but I don't consider those trad pickme as actually Christian?? like to me, they are comedians larping as Christians. They are the Christianese washed version of the girl boss. As someone who's doing vlog on the low, unless filming /editing it all day, it's impossible to regularly update video (~weekly basis) without having a team. And since those women braf about taking care of their house and child this is unlikely they are in fact filming & editing all their videos by themselves.

IDK most of those girls come off as highkey deceptive, bored and just want to flex their lavish lifestyle. In a society when accesss to work is a privilege, not having to even work seems like a luxury. Those chicks are capitalizing off of it.

That being said, I love the irony of those "anti female rights" girls. They've been to school (isn't there a middle aged trad guru who tells girl to not pursue university when she herself has a PhD? 💀), most likely own a bank account, opened their social account without asking for any male permission, wear make up..... but they will swear up and down that females rights and feminism is pointless.... Yeaaah.

I'm 100% convinced most of the girls looking up this content will grow out of this phase though. That's why I'm not too bothered by that. Here’s some tips for people who consider themselves anti-rw//de.

1. Filter out the RW//DE tag so you don’t see RW/DE posts. This is your responsibility. If it makes you feel attacked to see criticism of RW//BY then prevent yourself from seeing it. Nobody needs to shut up or soften their tone for your comfort. Sometimes even when you don’t seek out RW//DE posts and even when only the correct tags are used, posts will still show up in the main RW//BY tag if people do things like type ‘RW//BY’ without the dashes. That’s a bug in their system, that has nothing to do with us. So filter out the RW//DE tag and you’ll be much, much less likely to see those posts. I would also recommend filtering out tags like ‘RW//BY criticism,’ ‘anti-RW//BY,’ and ‘RW//BY bashing’ to further avoid these sort of posts.

2. Block RW//DE blogs. Sometimes Tumblr will show you ‘recommended blogs’ that are actually the opposite of the things you want even if you have tags filtered out. Once again, that’s a bug in their system, that has nothing to do with RW//DE blogs. However, sometimes RW//DE posters will post RW//DE content with the main ‘RW//BY’ tag or without using the ‘RW//DE’ tag or other filterables. That sucks and I think ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ tags should always be used so people can filter out. However, the response to that shouldn’t be ranting about how all RW//DE posters hate every single RW//BY fan and are trying to force people out of the fandom, when it takes you three seconds to block the person. There are like ten to twenty five frequent RW//DE posters at any given time, you will run out of blogs to ever even see. I personally have blocked likely over two hundred anti-RW//DE blogs and am still getting hate, so if I can do that and still not complain about every single RW//BY fan, then you guys can block the maybe twenty five of us that exist and then just go about your RW//DE free business please and thank you.

3. Don’t make puppet accounts to stalk the people that you claim are ‘trying to force everyone to hate RW//BY’ when they’ve already blocked you. If blogs have a. asked to be left alone. b. actively tried to avoid the fn//dm, c. said repeatedly that they don’t care if others like RW//BY, or d. specifically gone out of their way to try and make it so you personally can’t interact with their stuff, stop trying to interact with their stuff and stop claiming that they - included in statements like ‘RW//DE posters’ and ‘the HT//DM’ - are the ones seeking out members of the fn//dm and trying to force people to not praise RW//BY. How hard is it to just follow the literal tumblr rules and just let people block you? For people that claim to be harassed, some people out here are sure doing a lot of stalking. Please stop stalking.

4. One of the things with anti-rw//de people is that they claim that they’re fine with criticism and critique, but that the rw//de posters and ‘HT/DM are just all such evil cruel liars that they’re forced to defend poor sweet capitalist corporations and the majority straight, majority white, majority male writers who definitely never did anything bad or problematic at all. So here’s a hot tip; STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO USE THE RW//DE TAG if you’re going to immediately lump them in with those people you hate so much. If you see criticism that isn’t tagged as RW//DE, don’t get mad at people and order them to use the RW//DE tag.

5. STOP GANGING UP ON PEOPLE FOR EVEN THE BAREST FORM OF CRITICISM JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T PERSONALLY AGREE WITH IT, which is something really evidenced in the fact that when RW//DE posters started doing a ‘nitpick November’ game where we posted a bunch of personal opinions or very small criticisms of stuff that didn’t matter that much, anti-rw//de people still harassed us and bullied us and called us ‘pathetic’ and told us to stop being such vile haters wasting our time. Y’all have people in your fandom who have out and out said that they’re ‘no longer taking criticism,’ if you’re so against hiveminds, make an active effort to make people feel comfortable criticizing the damn show even when you don’t personally agree with everything they say.

6. Take the L every once in awhile, for real. No, not every criticism people have against RW//BY or MK//EK is wrong. No, not every criticism people have against the FN//DM is wrong. If you can’t say “yeah, that was fucked up” about some of it, than you are just fooling yourself. If someone says that Miles Luna called Tifa Lockhart a prostitute in a clearly meant to be derogatory way, then said it was because of her outfit, and then lied about it, and your answer to that is either to completely ignore it or wrack your brain for a way to defend it, you are a clown. Take the L. If someone says that Miles Luna said that he wished he’d ‘stuck to his guns’ and did ‘bury your gays’ with Pilot Boi simply because he was popular, and your response is to either ignore it or wrack you brain for a way to defend it, you are a clown. Take the L. If someone points out that Kerry Shawcross said that Ironwood’s new prosthetic symbolized him losing his humanity, and your response is to either ignore it or to find a way to pretend that he actually said ‘Ironwood’s lack of thought and rushing into things is a reason he became a villain’ than you are a clown. Take the L. If someone says “it’s a bad thing that the ‘civil rights / racism allegory’ storyline focused much more on taking down ‘the bad kinds of Faunus’ and taking down ‘the bad civil rights groups’ and taking down the ‘people that fight for their rights in too radical of a way,’ than it ever did on actually showing people fight for their rights,” and your response is either to ignore it or get angry and call them Adam apologists and claim that there are other civil rights groups that we just don’t see that are actually great and that it’s not a problem at all that we never see them because Adam totally was just usurping the cause of the White Fang for his own power and yes for some reason that needed to be ninety percent of the ‘civil rights / racism allegory’ story... First of all, I just want to say that it's completely understandable to be overwhelmed by all of this. It is really overwhelming. I read the other ask that you sent and wanted me to keep private and I agree that it sounds like dissociation. I'd really encourage you to consider blocking or blacklisting the syscourse tag and unfollowing any syscourse blogs at this time. Even if it's just temporary. Please take care of yourself!

AFAIK there’s no solid proof about anything beyond he said-she said and anon asks. While it’s important to support people who are victims of online abuse, and never ever say they’re faking, I also agree that the way some people are handling these situations does feel a little odd. I can think of multiple reasons for that. For one, someone might not know that there are many things they can do to prevent anon hate & online abuse.

How to handle anon hate:

I’d really encourage people who are receiving anon hate to turn off anonymous questions. You can’t get anon hate if you don’t allow anons! You can do this by going to your blog settings.

Anons can also be reported and blocked. If you report them, Tumblr will be able to take action against the person behind them. Blocking an anon will block the person’s IP address. Be sure to report before you block, because I’m pretty sure blocking deletes the ask too!

Blocking doesn’t always work, though, so if you’re still receiving anon hate then you should, first, report it and then turn off anonymous questions in your settings.

Also, be careful about posting the anon hate. For example, if you received anon hate with a link to a virus, and you post that...you are now exposing all of your followers to a virus. Anyone could potentially click on it. 

If you have been sent explicit content, report that and DO NOT POST IT because you will technically be breaking Tumblr’s TOS by putting that on your blog. You should screenshot the evidence and report it.

Other precautions you can take:

Don’t share personal information on the internet, like your legal name or where you live

Don’t click on any links you receive from blogs you don’t know

Shut off submissions

Do not allow asks with media

Only allows DMs from blogs you follow

Consider remaking your blog

Consider using a different pseudonym

Hide your blog from search results 

Report any known blogs that are harassing you

Contant Tumblr’s help center for more information on what you can do

If you are being chronically stalked/harassed, SAVE ALL THE EVIDENCE

I want to say that if you are someone who is following a person who is constantly receiving anon hate...please check in with your mental health. Witnessing that can be extremely overwhelming and even retraumatizing. You are responsible for no one’s mental health except your own. Please take care of yourself!

I also need to be a bit blunt about something. This isn’t directed at you, anon, it more about something I’ve been seeing lately... If someone is genuinely being harassed or stalked, that is NOT syscourse. That's abuse. Abuse should NOT be used for discourse points.

I know someone who was genuinely abused by a pro-endo. Anti-endos took their abuse and used it to bolster their side. Basically used real genuine trauma someone went through as discourse points. Because of that, NO ONE BELIEVED THE PERSON WHO SURVIVED THAT ABUSE. They had to deal with people constantly fakeclaiming them and saying that their trauma was just something anti-endos made up to shit on the endogenic community. In reality, it was never about discourse to begin with.

Please do not use someone else’s abuse to make a statement on pro-endos or anti-endos. Don’t turn someone’s trauma into fucking discourse. It crosses too many lines.

That being said, I also understand what it’s like to question what’s real and what’s not. Especially as a dissociative person. It’s true that people do fake being cyberbullied sometimes. It’s pretty easy to do that online, especially on Tumblr where you could just send yourself an anon ask. But I don’t think it’s right to claim that people are faking, on the off chance they aren’t. ALWAYS give people the benefit of the doubt and believe people who confide with you about their abuse.

Although, there are some cases where people fake being cyberbullied in order to harm others. I actually had an ex-friend who did this. He would send anon hate to himself for ulterior motives. He did it for basically everything. For control, support, money, notes, followers, attention, and to bolster his side in discourse. He also did it to manipulate the people he was abusing. The only reason I know it was him was sending himself anons was because he got caught by his partner, who he was also sending anon hate to so frequently to the point that they started having nervous breakdowns thinking they were being stalked.

I’m not sharing this because I think you should doubt people, but I think it’s important to be aware of these possibilities and develop some healthy caution. The biggest warning sign imo should be your own mental health. Pay attention to that. You are responsible for your own mental health and protecting yourself from cyberbullying. The same goes for everyone else.

No matter how many resources and advice and helping hands I or anyone else offered to my ex-friend, nothing changed. He never genuinely tried to stop the anon hate, because in reality he didn’t want it to stop. He benefitted so much from it. Every time he hurt me and I tried to communicate it, suddenly he was conveniently flooded with more anon hate and I needed to immediately stop holding him accountable and start comforting him, instead. None of that is normal.

Please, if you’re ever in a situation like that, always choose yourself.

Hello!!!

I just wanted to say I’m a fan of your art!!! Both here and on twitter!!! Unfortunately I’ve never said anything before, I also don’t follow you on twitter because of the antis. It’s also why I’m dropping an anonymous ask instead of showing my account.

I’ve watched the trolls movies before but the third movie was what got me into looking for art and fiction cause I wanted to see more of Branch and his family. And new official content takes a long time to come out, so I decided to look for more content online since there are many artists and writers that are always creating more content!!! Sometimes it’s even better than the official stuff 😂!!! I was looking for more stories about Branch and his brothers growing up together and stuff like that, more family centered stuff.

I was however, a little surprised with the Trolls fandom base because of the antis, I’ve been reading and seeing art from different fandoms for many years now and so far, at least for me, I’ve never seen such intense anti pro shippers. In fact, I’ve never quite understood what the word meant before, I thought it had to do with problematic ships, which I thought had to do with shipping for example heroes and villains or if two people have a big age difference.

I never even realized that incest was part of it. In all the fandoms I’ve read stories that include incest before magic or technology or natural biology, etc solved all the problems. Same with age differences, some characters would be aged up. Villains would turn out to have tragic backstories or one of the supposed good guys was tricking the protagonist. And I never noticed people being overly vocal about it. I mean I knew there were antis out there but it never got out of hand. An example of that, at least for me, was the Harry Potter fandom, I never had problems with antis or feared being blocked by certain artists because of what I read or who I followed.

But with the Trolls fan base some artists are very vocal about it. If a certain artist sees that you follow a pro shipper artist or if they see you comment on any of their art or if you say anything about the subject that they don’t like you are immediately blocked!!!

And twitter isn’t very private, everyone can see who you follow, your likes, retweets, your comments, etc and that makes it super easy for the antis to block you immediately!!! To avoid that, any pro shipper art I like I bookmark it, since that is the only thing other people on twitter can’t see. I don’t leave comments or like the art, cause I know if any of the antis find out about it they will block you, screenshot your account and tell everyone to avoid and block you cause you are a pro shipper or neutral. And I really don’t know what a neutral is!!! I’m guess it’s someone that doesn’t care either way, I think?

The antis will also talk shit about you behind your back!!! I also don’t leave comments on the stories on AO3 and I’ve considered making a second twitter account so that I can follow the pro shipping artists from the Trolls fandom I like in peace but!!! I’m so paranoid about the fact that the antis will discover my original account somehow that I haven’t done it!!! Here on tumblr you can at least keep your likes and who you follow private.

There are so many amazing Trolls artists out there, unfortunately they are for the most part very outspoken antis, at least from what I’ve seen.

Sorry!!! I’m venting a little here, it’s just… for the longest time I was ok with whatever showed up in front of me, story and art wise. For me it didn’t matter the pairing or anything else as long as the story was interesting!!! I’ve read stories where the only thing in common with the cannon content was the names and appearances of the characters everything else was completely different and I was fine with it because the story was super interesting!!! And there’s also the fact that it’s FICTION!!! Just because you are ok with what people write or draw doesn’t mean you’re ok with it in real life!!! I mean there are authors out there that write horror, gore and murder mysteries but that doesn’t mean that they want to actually kill some in real life!!!

The Trolls antis got me so out of sorts that I actually had the balls (metaphorically speaking) to ask my psychologist if it was ok to like this sort of stuff!!! And I told them about the antis, liking stuff like incest art and stories, the whole just because you are ok with it in fiction doesn’t mean that you’re ok with it in real life, etc!!! And they agreed with me!!! Told me that I shouldn’t worry about it and that some people just take somethings to seriously!!!

So… Again sorry for venting, but I wanted to share my experience and opinion with you.

I also want to say that you and all the other artists and writers that are ok with pro shipping should keep producing your amazing content and ignore all those nasty antis!!! Cause you are amazing!!!

my own rant below the cut lol

I’ve found that a lot of fandoms with audiences who skew to the younger side tend to be the most combative, so it checks out that you’ve found the Trolls fandom to be like this. A stark example that i’ve seen is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fandom, specifically around the Rise of the TMNT series, which came out in….2018, i think? (i didn’t get into it til 2022 so idk) BUT fans have been shipping the brothers together in that fandom since the 80s and largely nobody bat an eye until Rise happened, and brought a lot of the younger crowd into it. NOW, suddenly it’s Too Far to ship characters that have been shipped since before most of the new fandom members were born 💀

a lot of these younger fans had the misfortune of coming into fandom around the same time that a lot of TERFs and other conservative types were getting REALLY vocal on here around 2015-2018; of course, they grow up into really conservative types who spread the same nonsensical rhetoric to those younger than them, and so on and so forth.

i cannot emphasize enough that NO fandoms were like this (on a wide scale) pre-2015. this is coming from my perspective as someone who had VERY vanilla tastes for most of my fandom career…the fact that the term proship even exists is a testament to how much fandom has changed; proship is a term that popped up as a reaction to people using Anti Shipper as a way to tout their fandom activism (derogatory) & purity politics.

(being Neutral, btw, means basically nothing afaik because being Proship means that you mind your business, and people who are neutral just say that they mind their business and want nothing to do with the entire argument. Antis call them pros and pros also call them pros so idk how it’s even useful as a label 🤷‍♀️)

ALSO I FEEL THAT SELF DOUBT!! talking to your therapist was a good idea though, it’s good to get a reality check when you need it, haha. I had a moment several years back where i was questioning why i, as an adult, was into a fandom whose target audience was teenagers, before i realized that it’s not that deep and you can do what you want forever lmao

I would love nothing more than to dismiss the entire pro vs anti argument if i’m honest, but i can’t ignore the real life abuse that comes from it. I understand why you’d be afraid to be public with your opinions; especially on a garbage website like twitter, where reporting accounts only ever seems to work for the wrong people 🫠

The best way to do fandom has always been and continues to be to find your group of friends and be insane with them. (AND TO BLOCK LIBERALLY!) I hope you can find some people to chill with 🫂

It’s hard to explain my Point of veiw since, I’m vaguing very heavily about my own experiences, and what I’ve witnessed since I now associate with Antis. I often see people who are literally awful people get away with so much, they have people mutuals despite being horrible. They’re excused with the term ‘oh it’s fiction’ when it’s inherently biased. I’ve seen post about minors only for adults to get angry at the antis for not helping them and not doing as such themselves? I don’t like the hypocrisy of it all. okay I am going to answer this in two parts

1. I am not a kimchay anti or some kimchay hater who’s going to fill the kimchay tag with terrible takes and derogation of them. once I finish kinnporsche I will have absolutely zero interaction with kimchay, and beyond a reblog or two of kinnporsche content I probably won’t interact with the kinnporsche fandom. so I promise I’m not out here trying to establish myself as a fandom regular and/or a kimchay anti I was really just voicing my thoughts as I was watching the episode

2. even if the age gap isn’t that big (as far as the last couple anons and people have said chay is 18 and kim is 21?) their relationship in general doesn’t sit well with me.

it looks like chay’s feelings are coming from a place of admiration, worship and puppy love -> there’s nothing wrong with this but it does highlight how young and naive he is

whereas kim’s feelings (or rather actions) look to be coming from a place of “curiosity” and “i wonder what would happen if I did this thing-“ and not really any feelings of love or care

(aka the: “I love you, do you love me?” scene really shows both chay’s naivety and kim’s feelings)

I just think chay is too young and innocent to be engaging in a relationship with someone like kim who is not only older but lives a lifestyle full of violence and trauma. the gap in emotional maturity is huge (even if the age gap isn’t)

all this being said, I can see from the anon’s I’ve gotten and the interactions I’ve had with the kimchay live-blogging posts that this seems to be a very needled topic in the fandom and therefore I will probably strive to stay far away from it while I finish this show

I also live by the philosophy that the things we interact with in fiction do not translate to the things we are okay (or not okay) with in real life. it’s about knowing your boundaries and using critical thinking to say, “hey this is pretty fucked up and if I saw this in real life I would be disgusted and scared but this is a fictional universe where the actions and consequences of characters are contained within this piece of media and I am interacting with it without engaging in those actions in real life. my feelings for the content are based within the context of the show and not within what I do or don’t do in real life”
