Not even gonna lie; writing these headcanons just makes me simp over characters I have never simped for. So hope you enjoy this! Kalim is a cutie, and Jamil is just yum.

Romantic Headcanons

Kalim Al-Asim

Kalim is going to be another one who doesn’t realize he likes you for a while. For him, however, it’s not for lack of knowledge in the subject. He loves all of his friends and acts overly familiar with everyone in general. He’s simply more of a slow-burn kinda guy, where it’s going to take a lot of these interactions before his heart begins to skip beats for you. It’s nothing against you; he just needs to be close to someone before being capable of forming a romantic attachment.

Once he does realize he’s fallen for you, he won’t be wasting any time. He’ll go ahead and let you know, probably asking Jamil to prepare a fancy dinner and then taking you on a carpet ride afterward in order to confess. It’ll be romantic, sure, but the hopeful look in his eyes is enough to melt even the coldest hearts. Kalim already knows this, so when you say yes, he’s just overjoyed, and you’ll have to tell him to start directing the carpet again because he will lose focus and start crashing.

At first, it’s almost like nothing changes once you two start going out. He was always grabbing your arms and hands anyway before he even knew he liked you. Inviting you out, getting you presents. It’s what he does for all his friends. So it’ll be a bit hard for you to determine if he was actually serious when he confessed when he doesn’t change a single thing about how he acts around you.

Bring it up to him, and he’s going to laugh before grabbing your cheeks and pulling you in for a kiss. “Is that all? Why didn’t you say anything sooner? Jamil said I shouldn’t overwhelm you at the start, but if that’s what you want.” Be prepared for daily dates. Even if it’s a short one in the cafeteria. Jamil will be cooking for the both of you at this point (since Kalim refuses to let you eat normal cafeteria food while he eats gourmet meals from Jamil. You two have to be matching in your foods).

He’s also going to be having you as the honored guest at every party he throws. Just be sure to remind him to tone it down if you don’t want to be riding out on an elephant to the party where everyone is staring at you. You thought it was a joke when Kalim first suggested it until Jamil cornered you later and informed you he was very serious and you should let him know that you wouldn’t appreciate such an entrance. Unless you do, then you do you.

He likes his time spent with you but expects to be around other people constantly. He’s too social to be in his room all day; near late afternoon, he will happily go back to his room with you, sitting down and just talking about the day. He could listen to your voice for hours, even if they’re the most mundane stories. Still, during the day, just expect to be dragged around campus and greet just about everyone he remotely knows.

You’re going to be bombarded with gifts whether you like them or not. Kalim wants his lover to be pampered with the best things life has to offer, after all. He’s been to Ramshackle, and it’s not hard for him to tell that you’ve been struggling financially, judging by how all the furniture is beaten up. At first, it’ll be accessories or even stuffed animals. Grim adores it because Kalim will throw in the fanciest tuna money can buy and stock a shelf in your fridge for you.

After a while, he’s going to realize you might need more practical stuff. Sure having gold jewelry looks nice, but when you live in a hovel, it’s hard to feel luxurious. So he’s going to slowly be buying furniture to replace the old stuff. You are more than welcome to tell Kalim to tone it down, not everyone is good with always receiving presents (especially expensive ones), but he’s going to insist you let him do this. You make him happy just by being around him, after all, so he wants you to feel comfortable.

Kalim has always been the type of guy to grab your hand out of nowhere and lock his fingers with yours, even before you had a relationship, and that won’t be stopping anytime soon. He doesn’t even realize it half the time when he’s doing cute couple things with you. He just wants to be as close to you as possible. Leaving you with kisses all over your face is another thing he is totally unashamed to do. Give him a quick kiss on the lips if you want him to stop. He’ll go red, then laugh, telling you how cute he thinks that is.

Lots of sleepovers. Kalim really does enjoy being near you, and since night is the only time it’s just you two (not even Jamil will bother), he cherishes it. So he’s going to insist you spend the night with him, even keeping pajamas and extra uniforms in your size in his closet for when you agree. You’ll be under the covers with him like two little kids, talking and laughing until you’re falling asleep. Kalim is also a cuddler and will move in his sleep until he’s wrapped around you in the most awkward ways. Don’t be surprised when you wake up and he accidentally has a knee jabbing into your back.

Jamil Viper

Your relationship with Jamil is going to be one of the rockiest starts, in all honesty. After the whole overblot incident, he wants nothing to do with you. He still sees you as the one who ruined his plans, and he doesn’t take that lightly. Never mind the fact that he’s just a little bit grateful to you and your friends after helping bring him back from that state. He’s still going to see you as a nuisance for a while.

Jamil will slowly start to warm up to you over time. It’s hard to avoid you when Kalim seems so attached and is always inviting you over for parties. Go out of your way every time and offer help for Jamil. He’ll be suspicious at first and don’t even think about helping with anything that has to do with food. He trusts you as far as he can throw you, but that applies to everyone. If you want to help clean up, he won’t mind. As long as things go back where they belong, you’re more than welcome to help him with the aftermath of parties.

The more you help, the more he’ll grow to like you. He is stressed beyond belief with everything he has to do. Taking care of the dorm and Kalim, basically running the basketball club, there’s a lot on his plate. He’s going to find himself making more and more time for you, though, and even making extra food for you to take home to your dorm as thanks for helping him out. It’s going to take some time before those feelings blossom, so patience is a virtue.

Once he does realize it, though, he finds himself more relaxed in your presence and seeking you out more and more. He’ll even offer assistance when it comes to school work, as long as you don’t yap to other people exactly why your grades have skyrocketed. Your relationship is going to develop gradually until it’s just at the point where you two are seen as dating. That’s when he’s going to ask if you want to go steady with him (yes, he might even state it just like that).

He’s a very attentive boyfriend; having been watching over someone his entire life, it’s not hard for him to tell you exactly what you’re needing. Returning the favor is always appreciated but not expected from him. He makes you something to eat for lunch, then maybe bring a home-cooked meal or something from the Mostro Lounge (if you can’t cook) for dinner. He helps you with some homework, and maybe you help tutor some of the Scarabia students later on with what he taught you. He will be thank you and possibly planning on marrying you if you help get rid of 90% of his workload.

Jamil will make time for you through his busy schedule. At first, Kalim is going to be interrupting often, not realizing Jamil has his own life, but if you just text Kalim informing him you’re on a date, he’ll suddenly leave you guys alone for the rest of the day. As long as there’s something he can eat in the kitchen that won’t poison him, he’s happy. On days when he’s swamped and can’t really spend much time with you, he gets annoyed very easily. Maybe come over and help him cook by cutting things up and handing them to him. Go shopping with him, and make his mundane chore fun by being with him.

He’s going to become just as protective over you as he is of Kalim. If he thinks something or someone is suspicious, he’ll be on high guard. Advising you to perhaps not interact with that jittery freshman with shifty eyes. It’s absolutely not jealousy. He has nothing to worry about in that regard; he’s just worried that maybe someone would do something to you, distracting him, so they can get to Kalim. It’s all totally reasonable.

Be prepared to have Kalim gushing over you. He’s happy that Jamil found someone to make him happy, which means you guys now have to be best friends. Dates with the three of you will be more common. Sometimes it might even feel like you have two boyfriends, but Jamil shuts down the idea when you joke around with just the two of you. Still, Jamil doesn’t mind going places with you and Kalim. It means he gets to watch over his two responsibilities at the same time and not have to worry about the other.

Ramshackle might become his new sanctuary. It’s dusty and gross, and the furniture smells like mildew, but there are no expectations for him. When things get too much, he might show up at your doorstep to relax a bit. He probably won’t be spending the night, too worried about Kalim burning the dorm down in that situation, but he’ll be there for a few hours. It’s also the time he can be more affectionate towards you. PDA isn’t something he partakes in at all. Even walking to class, he normally won’t hold your hand, deciding you two would stand out too much. In the safety of Ramshackle, though? No expectations. No onlookers. He can just be with you.

He’s going to love it if you partake in his hobbies. Do you want to learn to dance? Say no more; he’s going to show you the beginner moves and make sure you don’t get injured (just don’t practice without him, he’ll worry about you snapping your neck doing a headstand). Do you want to come to his basketball games and practice? He’s going to show off a little more than usual, but don’t voice it. He swears he’s just taking practice seriously, but Floyd and Ace will notice the difference and tease him. If you help him clean up after games and practice, expect him to steal you away and leave you breathless with kisses in the closet. He’s hyped up from that adrenaline and feeling on top of the world still.

Stoic Perspective

This post will be some kind of addition to mindset, but also very important part. You might be wondering how it is related to deduction and Sherlock Holmes but even though we don't see Sherlock talking about Stoicism, he follows it in most cases. (Mixed with Cynicism which started around the time Diogenes lived.) So, let's see how Sherlock uses and how we can use it in our daily life.

Remember this episode? Season 1 Episode 3. Sherlock solves 5 cases in a row with some time constraints, stress factors, etc. In one scene, Watson asks, "There are lives at stake Sherlock! Actual human lives. Just so I know, do you care about that all?" and Sherlock answers with a brilliant answer: "Will caring about them help save them?" and Watson says "Nope." and then Sherlock says "Then I will continue not to make that mistake." Obviously, they show it like Sherlock doesn't care about anyone and is an egocentric narcissistic robot but that is certainly not the case. If you watch other adaptations(Granada, Elementary or even the books)Sherlock cares about other people, but not in a way normal people do. I am pointing out this scene because it shows us the attitude and mindset of Sherlock. Let's see how we can apply this in real life:

1-Caring without Emotions

"Emotional qualities are antagonistic to clear reasoning." -Sherlock Holmes

After watching Sherlock we shouldn't try to be like Sherlock, especially if we don't understand how he thinks. When he says, caring won't save them it doesn't mean he doesn't care. It just means it is not relevant and emotions won't help them in any way because it will cloud his thinking and deductions. So, what can you do in situations where stress is high and your emotions come to the surface?

1-Recognize them: Don't suppress or act like you don't have them. Just realize they are there and act accordingly. If you say "There is nothing wrong with me. I don't feel any emotions right now..." then you won't be aware of the affect they have on you.

2-Think Clearly: It is easy to say but hard to do. How can we think clearly? What does it mean? It means you have to use the relevant data and eliminate what is not. If you want to think clearly, you have to recognize your feelings, emotions etc. You have to be aware of them at every step so that when they are affecting your reasoning, you can overcome them and keep going.

3-Follow Your Logic

Sherlock doesn't call Moriarty after he solves the case because he wants to use time advantage. He wants to work on other cases and because of that, he doesn't call Moriarty. Watson is reacting with emotions and says this woman was covered with bombs all this time. Although Sherlock cares about the woman, he follows the logic. If he uses the time to his advantage, he can save more than one life but if he reacts with emotions, he will just save one. So, use your logic and act accordingly.

2-Perspective For Problems "External things are not the problem. It's your assessment of them. Which you can erase right now." -Marcus Aurelius

This can change a lot of things about how you see your problems. Let's say you have a lot of work to do and after a long day you are going home. When you arrive there, you realize your house is on fire? How would you react?

I believe, most of us would be full of emotions. Why did this happen to me? Why is life not fair? My life is over. What will I do now?

But if we just can change our perspective and practice it in our daily life we would have a very different and constructive response to the situation. Now, here is the perspective I am talking about:

Now think about the same scenario. You see that your house is on fire. You think "Can I do something about it?"->"Yes. I can call the fire department." or "No. It is too late. Everything is turned to ash." In both cases, you don't have to worry because it is already done. You can't travel back in time so you have to create your plans for the future. You can't waste time thinking about the past because it will limit your capacity to act on the future.

If you use this perspective in every situation, eventually it will become automatic and your emotional reactions will not be as strong as it is now. This way, you will be able to use your logic more easily and solve the problem you have.(Or you will stop worrying if you don't have a problem.) This is probably the fundamental perspective of Stoicism.

3-Expressing Emotions

I won't go deep into the Jungian Shadow or deep psychology of the emotions and suppressing etc but we have to be aware of this fact: The fact that if you don't express your emotions in some way, it will come out later bigger than it was.(Also, you won't be in control.)

If you watched Elementary, you know that almost in every episode Sherlock express his emotions to Watson.(Or to someone else. Which by the way is a more human adaptation of Sherlock.)He talks with her about what he feels and thinks about the situation because he can't deal with them alone. We can't deal with them alone too so we have to find some ways to express them. Here are some basic ones: 1-Talking to your Watson

If you have someone you are close to, then talk to them. Explain your feelings and emotions as clear as you can be.

2-Keeping a Journal

You won't always have an opportunity to talk with somebody so you need to talk with yourself clearly, which is what journaling does. You use words and getting things out of your head so you can analyze them more clearly. Just write and then read them aloud.

3-Physicality

If you like to work out, run, go to the gym or do any physical activity, do it. It is especially useful for anger and sadness. Try and find whatever works for you.

So, that is a general look at emotions and how to live with them. After you read this, you won't immediately detach from your emotions and act with your logic. Probably a trivial question during a shitty time globally, but I'm going a bit crazy trying to figure this out and need help.

For some reason, people cancel last-minute alarmingly frequently when I host gatherings on days that are extremely important to me. I am talking mainly about my birthday and that of my partner but also a huge milestone graduation do last year was a nightmare as well. Neither I nor my partner have any meaningful relationships with our families anymore due to political differences and rely on our friends for the sense of home and belonging most people get from families.

Except this is a bit of a wasteland, as I struggle to form and maintain close friendships because of how unreliable and disappointing people have been for a while. This is not an individual (although there are a couple of people who I know will cancel every time) but a pattern. Someone will forget to book the right train ticket, another will only lurk on the event group chat and then comment for the first time before the event to say no. One person memorably just said they wanted to keep the option of a weekend gateway open so they could only come to my graduation party if they decided not to do that. Am I missing something here? Is this normal? I need consistency and dependability to feel safe and I feel like people I'd normally choose as friends (witty, nerdy interests, progressive) turn out to be incredibly bad at showing up for me when I need them. A friend I thought was close went completely mum after I graduated and didn't congratulate me at all - after having discussed the degree and its struggles with me for 2 years. Part of me feels like I need to rebuild my circle from scratch and maybe find people I can talk to honestly about my needs from the beginning of the friendship. But it feels so late and desolate to start this process in my mid-thirties. Everyone else has friends they grew up with and who know everything about their lives. Meanwhile, I am at the stage where I have no close friends at all anymore because my needs seem too absurd to even discuss with anyone except my partner, and if I do, I just lose friendships. I remember reading your piece on how to do social things as an autistic person last year and feeling very inspired so I thought I'd reach out to you.

This is all exceedingly, exceedingly normal, especially in the days post COVID for a variety of reasons. When I make plans with people, I assume that roughly 30-75% of the people invited are not going to show up, and I've completely made my peace with that. A friend of mine hosted a movie night a few weeks back, invited I believe around 15 people, and ultimately four showed up, many people being last-minute cancellations or total no shows.

This happens for a variety of reasons. Many people are very socially anxious and decide at the last minute they don't have it in them to show up because they're freaking out. Other people say yes when the event is days or weeks down the line, wanting in the abstract to be there, but then on the actual day of the event, practical daily life constraints are far more visible than they were when the event was just an idea, and so then they have to bail. Other people feel really bad saying no, and so they wait for the last minute to share that they can't make it. And lots of people are so bombarded with notifications on a variety of social media sites and chatting platforms that they just forget all that they've committed to. And then you add into that random illness, flat tires, crying kids, and the like, and you have a lot of reasons why people don't show up to things.

Personally, I have come to accept this. If I go into event planning assuming most people can't make it, my feelings aren't hurt. Every person who does show up is a gift. My invites are an opportunity, a true invitation, not an obligation or an expectation. I don't hurt my feelings in advance by telling myself that I need a high turnout for my birthday or that because I've worked hard making a certain dish for a party (I never actually do that admittedly lol) that a lot of people need to come and eat it.

And I invite people that I like and want to see, over and over again, because I care about them, and I want to show them that I care about them and that I understand they have other things going on and I am not offended that life got in the way for them. I want them to feel loved and included, even if they can't make it. Even the gesture of inviting a person to an event and them showing some interest is a meaningful act of maintaining social connections, for me. And so if they can't make it on the day of, that's fine by me.

I'm 35. My friends are anywhere from 21 to 60-something. People cancel events because of sick kids, broken down cars, long work weeks, depression, double-bookings, writing deadlines, social anxiety, busted ankles, not wanting to see one person they're currently having a difficult situation with, and any number of other factors. If you love people long enough, they get really complicated and their lives get really hard. I find that the most beautiful and friendship-sustaining thing one can do is to not take it personally, because you're going to need that same grace yourself plenty of times. People will drop of the map for months or years sometimes because they're going through hell, and you dont to deprive yourself of being open to reconnection when they're available again.

There's really no need to read anything into the randomness of life. This stuff will happen, so it's rational to expect it, and loving to not mind it too much.

Do you need to make some new friends? Maybe so! I have multiple different friend groups and I think that's healthy. You may find the no-shows less painful if you have more people to lean on. It's always good to form new connections, learn new things about yourself, expand your skills and understanding of the world through new information and experiences. But should you start over, and ditch your friends who are flakey? I don't think so. To be loved is to be sometimes flaked upon (and to flake). In this capitalistic, individualistic hellscape it's vitally important that we extend one another grace.

As the daily rewatch of NMTD gets going (avoiding the actual phrase/tag, per my previous post), I'm finding myself discovering parts of the show that I never actually knew/processed. Logically speaking, I knew that there were Tumblr accounts and I think I was even following them from some point. But I never followed them at the beginning of the show's run (I only discovered it a few episodes from now, and don't recall going back to fill in the transmedia blanks) and certainly never processed that Ursula's "Vox Pops" video was actually the first (chronologically) of the NMTD-verse.

The first episode of NMTD is naturally Beatrice's first vlog. I still find it immensely watchable and engaging. Bea is funny, approachable, and bursting with a liveliness. She feels realistically teenaged and Harriett Maire's acting makes Beatrice seem entirely real, particularly in the way she shifts between different performance styles as she introduces herself and her family. I've long adored "And So It Begins..." as an excellent example of how an episode manages to cram its background in without seeming like it's trying too hard. It's also just... enjoyable to watch, and this is again purely down to having such a charismatic lead.

If we then loop back to "VOX POPS" (don't ask me why I wrote it normally earlier but am now stylizing with caps), there's a sense that Beatrice belongs to a whole, rich world. In "VOX POPS", she's hardly the main character, which is of course the point. Watching these videos in their chronological - rather than logical - order makes the show feel a teeny bit wider from the start. But it also begs the question why Beatrice is vlogging at precisely the same time as Ursula begins uploading her "artsier" videos. This is answered to some degree in "And So It Begins...", by the fact that Bea's life has undergone major changes of late and she's figuring herself out. Would it have made some sense to have an in-story inspiration from Ursula's videos, in that first episode? Maybe! Then again, this is one of those things that necessitates some degree of suspension of disbelief, when asking why webseries characters begin (or stop) filming videos when they do.

Both of these videos are just introductions... and of course, there are several more introductions to come (not just in terms of characters, but distinct channels/styles, like the Watch videos and Ben's vlogs). NMTD is one of the best shows I've ever seen when it comes to having a full, ensemble cast, which I think is beautifully illustrated by "VOX POPS" being its "accidental" premiere. Yes, Beatrice is the show's main character (and she is, both in terms of plot-centrality and driving the presentation/performance of this story), but she never feels like a character who sits alone at the top of a pedestal while other characters revolve around her. She doesn't change based on who's filming her, but her centrality does. It's something that I still think NMTD did best out of so many webseries.

There's not much to write at this stage, given how little of the story has unfolded (and knowing just how much plot is still to come. So far, I'm mostly surprised by the transmedia (which I remember being fairly thin and far from NMTD's strength, an assessment I stand by so far... it's not bad, but it's clearly supplementary) and by the instant worldbuilding.

So it begins, indeed.

Valentine's day is...a little stressful for Kaeya. He's not too sure what he wants to do for you, sure that even if he were to take the planets out of the solar system it still wouldn't be enough to prove to you just how much he loves you. Buying gifts is also hard since he buys you so many little trinkets whenever he spots something that reminds him of you.

Ultimately, he decides to put himself out of his comfort zone, inviting you over for a homecooked meal, complete with a few courses and a handmade dessert. It took him forever to learn how to make it, cramming in cooking lessons between his patrols and spending time with you but it's all worth it to see you smile.

The preparations for this special holiday began well before, Kaeya making sure that not a single thing was out of place. Everything was going to be the epitome of perfection, having everything prepared down to the placement of cutlery on the table.

It wasn't within his nature to be so precisewhen it came to doing anything with you, loving the look on your face as he acted spontaneously, but this was something he did not want to risk.

Kaeya takes a deep breath when he hears your knock on the door, running through his mental checklist one more time before finally letting you into his home. The smile you wear is so bright he doesn't think he needs the lights of the candles to brighten up the room. No, just your presence was enough.

"How are you?" you greet, pulling him in for a kiss that he happily returns.

"I'm doing alright," he replies, clearing his throat to try and eliminate the last minute nerves.

"Much better now that you're here."

"Oh, as if I haven't heard that one before," you roll your eyes, following after him as he leads you to his dining room.

Already, you can see the beginnigs of a lavish meal being put doiwn, about to sit when he interrupts your motions and pulls out the chair for you. You chuckle a little, entertained by this extra chivalrous knight persona he was wearing today.

"How kind of you sir," you joke, making him laugh softly in kind.

"Well, only thebest for the love of my life, don't you think?" he says softly, making your heart flutter a little.

"It is Valentine's after all, and just asking you in a grandiose way wasn't enough for me."

You think back to how he asked you, remembering the giant bouquet he insisted on buying and the lovely little poem he wrote and attached to the flowers.

As you ponder, you feel him press a kiss to your cheek, looking up at him adoringly.

"Have I told you I love you?" you say dreamily, making his hear melt.

"Yes, you have," he replies, sitting you down and helping serve your meal.

You didn't know what else to expect after dinner. The two of you were a little tired from your daily routine anyway, finding the time today to spend together to be enough for you. Maybe another day you can make a grand spectacle of it but not right now.

Instead, you focus your attention on returning his lavish attention and flirting with him, loving the way he averts his gaze when your sweetened words are too much for him to handle. However, he retaliates by upping the ante, both of you caught in some battle of affection. That comes to an end.

"Dessert is served," Kaeya says proudly, brandishing a plate of chocolates he made himself. Your eyes go wide, the intricate looking snowflakes decorated prettily on the plate making you gasp.

"Kaeya! This looks incredible. You made these?"

"All by myself," he huffs, taking one off and bringing it to your lips.

"Here, give it a taste."

You take a bite, happily chewing when you reach a creamy center. He can't look any happier you think, practically vibrating as he watches your reaction.

"Well? What do you think? Good?"

"It's amazing! I can't believe you did all this!"

"Anything for my beloved," he replies, taking a piece for himself.

You suddenly remember that your chocolates are definitely not up to par, simply a package you bought. That's not to say they weren't nice - they just paled in comparison severely when it came to your boyfriend's efforts.

"Well? What about mine?"

He pulls you into his chest by your waist, looking at you expectantly.

"You were carrying a bag when you came in here and I can only assume it's filled with sweets for me."

"Well...yes," you say hesitantly, pushing against his chest slightly.

"Then? Won't you give it to me?"

"I could, but they're not as good as yours," you mutter, fiddling with your hands.

"And?" he asks again.

"You still want them?" you say, surprised. "They're not that great Kaeya."

"They come from you, so as far as I'm concerned they're amazing. Is that not good enough for you?" he pouts again, making you sigh and get the package.

He was right. He didn't really care where they were from as long as they came from you. Honestly, you probably could have given him a rock and he would have reacted just as happily, hugging you tightly and telling you how this was the best day ever.

You couldn't help but laugh at his antics, hugging him close as you planned how to make it up to him next year.

Hiya! So, I have gotten some good questions in my asks recently, and I will just hit them all at once instead of answering each person individually.

Is English your first language? Do you have an editor?

Yes, English is my first language! No, I do not have an editor. I have a speech impediment and dyslexia, so my writing can look a bit rough at times. I can speak pretty quickly and sound quite 'normal' (remember everyone, the term normal is a societal construct) in person; however, in terms of text, due to my dyslexia and speech issues, I struggle a lot and kinda sound like a terrible high school rough draft in my writing. I have used Grammarly Premium since college to help with my writing. Personally, I feel that if I let my disorders and issues prevent me from doing something I love, I would be a lot sadder of a person. My partner has offered to be my editor, but he doesn't know how consistently he could keep up with me. So please bear with me if you see any spelling or grammatical errors. I am trying my best!

2. When will you get to my request?

I promise I am working on them! To be candid with everyone, I am working on at least one request daily. However, as I stated above, I do have dyslexia; for me personally, focusing on words/letters for extended periods really hurts my head and can cause some migraines. Some days are significantly better than others. I know all disorders/ illnesses/issues look differently for every person, but for me, I tend to get terrible migraines, blurry vision, and dizziness when I make myself look at words too long. I do have glasses, though, and sometimes they help extend my time without the migraines, which is nice.

3. Do you do smut?

Yes, I do; if you notice, I am an 18+ account. HOWEVER, smut will not be written for Anons or for anyone who doesn't have an age in their blogs. I will also only follow people who include their age in their blogs. I hope that you who enjoy my content will respect my boundaries.

4. Why do you post only in the middle of the night?

Well, folks, for my North American followers, I am posting in the middle of the night because, well, I am, in fact, doing that. Like I said in my pinned post on my blog, I work nights at an office during the week. Due to this, my sleep schedule is the opposite of most people's. I post consistently for my followers outside North America during your daytime. So, to you guys, I look like a diligent, creative writer. All jokes aside, if my posting late at night is inconvenient, I recently learned the Queue feature and can begin to use that.

5. Will you add more to your writing list?

Yes, I would like to do so in the future. I am keeping it to just the fandoms I am hyper-fixated on. Once I have a new fixation, I will update the pinned post and ensure everyone knows I am writing for something else. Currently, I am big into League and Magic the Gathering. I am also waiting for the new season of Helluva Boss before I add those characters to my list. Thank you for being patient and waiting! Lady Octopus:

There was some kind of testing for technical aids for people who have acrophobia and other issues like that that can cause problems, it was free testing, and Acedia was like.. one of the volunteers for one such device that looked more fun and enticing. and something obviously went wrong.

Actuators aren't fused to her, but they refuse to release her. there's a little special pad thingy that sticks to the back of her neck just at the base of her head, a neural reader that isn't invasive (aka, like a needle jabbed & directly tapping into her brain), and that little pad sends little signals to and from her so she can control the arms how Otto instructed when he hooked her up for a volunteer demonstration. (it went fine for a while, but then something went wrong with the actuators. Otto panicked and tried turning it off, shutting the whole thing down, but it was too late)

Luckily Spider-Hero!Beck was there to help her.

unfortunately, due to the fact the neural reading can send signals TO and from her.. the actuators latched on and can use that to hack into and control her for themselves. temporarily, but they can find power sources to keep their control going for a bit longer.

Acedia is puppeteered against her will and completely unaware of what the actuators are making her do. eventually they learn to speak through her and that becomes one heck of an experience for Otto, the creator of the actuators. on one hand he's amazed by how the coding and """"ai"""" has managed to do this remarkable feat of learning and evolving-- but on the other he is absolutely horrified by what this entails for the future and he needs to reprogram them, remove these features and prevent them from learning further and causing harm to others and especially harm to Acedia whom he is having to take care of and watch over.

Beck, the resident superhero, is helping care for her, too and bonding with Otto via helping Acedia be eventually freed from the actuators. They're all learning a lot, about each other, and about the actuators themselves. and through this learning, Acedia eventually gets the hang of it and learns to control the actuators herself.

the actuators still have control over her, but the battle is slowly becoming a losing one for the arms. Otto & Beck are slowly winning by working together!

if Otto tries to use force to remove the actuators from Acedia, like using drills or whatever to cut through the device.. it could hurt her and cause worse harm. which is why the harness with the arms stays on.

eventually, when full control over the actuators has been regained.. they can safely remove the actuators from Acedia. Finally free from the waking nightmare

Electra:

Me as Electro but my origin story is I touched a plasma ball while it was active inside a lab during a cool free tour and in my panic I instinctively and reflexively yanked my arm back, but I smashed into something else and ended up getting zapped unconscious. the plasma ball exploded in the process and didn't help with the electricity.

Can you blame me tho when it looked like this?

she has "powered up" and "powered down" forms. powered down is just her looking completely normal, the neck piece to the full-body (minus the head) suit is also latched/clicked together. it helps keep her powered down and contained.

And when you're pregnant with his baby, he's gonna bend over backward to make you happy. He'll probably cry more than you will, just randomly staring at you waddling around, with your bump growing every day. He just loves you so, so much and knows you'll create something beautiful together. Got any weird cravings? Wake him up during the night with newfound worries and anxieties about this whole... kids-thing? Need your hair held while puking, feet rubbed, a nice massage? He's 100% there and ready. He'll treat you like royalty for those nine-ish months - and does so with a smile.

But he's also... overly cautious. The moment that pregnancy test is even faintly positive, say bye-bye to lunch meats, soft cheese, caffeine, and a dozen other tiny things you've never thought about- He's subtle about it, too. He'd never tell you to lay off your daily coffee, but he won't buy a new pack of your favorite roast. If you ask for some, he'll make that weird, wistful face at you and say something about how too much caffeine isn't good for the baby. Of course, you follow the general recommendations, no alcohol, no smoking... But some things just seem a little too much, don't they? Then again, you're in this together and he just wants what's best for your baby. Then he gets antsy about you lifting anything heavy, staying up too late, even you working. You need rest, can't you see? Growing a baby is hard work, you don't need that stupid office job anyway, especially not when he earns well enough to support the three of you. You'll probably fight over this - or at least you try to confront him about it, but he just gets that teary-eyed look and acts so hurt, it immediately shuts you up. You should be grateful he cares so much, shouldn't you? You'll be doubting yourself every time those unpleasant feelings bubble up. Maybe it's really the hormones, the unknown whirl of feelings you have for that little thing in your body, that you feed with every ounce of yourself. He's a master at manipulating you, make no mistake. And when the baby gets big - so big you can feel your hips every time you walk, so big you could swear you're stretched to your limits, so big that even your bones ache under the strain - it plays right into his hands. You on bedrest would be heaven for him. Needing him, depending on him, only him. You'll never see him more lovestruck than when he coos over you, when he caters to every whim possible, when he gets to play nurse. And post-partum. Difficult, yes. But just another side of the same coin to him... He really shines when you need him most.

Molly, I do not know the number and variety of messages you receive. But I'd wager the positives far outweigh the negatives. I just don't understand how you let one negative comment completely derail your plan for a story.

I mean the corners of the internet are filled with people who just dislike everything. Some of your last posts also threw me off, with you talking about performance. Your fics have typically done so well. A lot of them making it to the top of the kate/Anthony tags in terms of kudos and hits. Yet, I didn't see you as someone who cared about the performance. I don't know what I'm trying to say in my rambing, but I feel let down on how quickly you abandon a work simply cause of some negative comments

Hi, I’m sorry you feel let down, I honestly am. However I would like to explain a few things before, as I’ve said: I don’t want to talk anymore on the matter.

Usually criticism doesn’t bother me, normally I have a fairly thick skin however, as I’ve said, recently I’ve been having a very difficult time in my real life. The details of which, frankly, I do not owe you an explanation of. This has left me with a slight aversion to wanting to manage conflict when I have free time. I use writing here as an escape, something easy and unrelated to my everyday life and stresses. In the past I have ignored the warning signs in the response to the first chapter of a fic and have ended up bitterly defending them until the end. Please keep in my that I publish about an eighth of the messages I receive on a daily basis. I simply, at this point in the year, do not have the energy to devote to that for this fic. I’m sorry if that is disappointing to you, but it’s true.

With regards to fic performance, in general, no, I do not care about this. And yes, as I’ve mentioned countless times; I’m very grateful and appreciative that a majority of my fics are well loved by a number of people. However, when 10-15 messages are received every day requesting updates I need to be realistic about where the demand is. Are there fics that I love that have been outperformed by those I don’t enjoy so much? Absolutely. That’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes but I need to be realistic and what content people want to see.

Finally, this: I am not sure some realise the reality of my writing schedule. I work from 7am to 7pm most days which means a lot of my writing happens very early in the morning and late I’m the evening. I get up early and I go to bed very late to try and provide content for people who enjoy it and that’s something that I enjoy doing. But it is difficult when it’s faced with criticism, no matter what that might be.

Let me be very clear on what my last few posts were saying: My mental health is suffering at the moment. And I need time for things to return to normal. I’m sorry if that’s letting you down, I feel let down by myself but there it is.

Hello! Sorry I'm answering late to this, had a busy week.

Sooo I suppose this is about modern Hange's daily life! I haven't really thought of modern AU in general but this sounds fun, especially because now that you mention she would have loads of games on her iPad I have to mention the ONE headcanon I read about a while ago, that has stuck with me forever. That one headcanon is the absolute truth to me. I'm so sad I can't credit it properly because I don't remember who posted it, but that genius of a fellow Tumblr user pointed out Hange would have this song set as default tone for her mobile. And honestly, I can't unsee this lol

Anyway, this one wasn't mine, so have some of my own:

(using she/her pronouns since the ask uses these)

- Her laptop's desktop is a mess. She "loses" folders or documents once or twice a week. "Leviii I swear I did nothing! Nothing at all! They just keep disappearing, I didn't even click on anything"

- She goes to bed at ungodly hours, but despite the lack of sleep she does not have even the slightest hint of eyebags. Lucky one.

- Yes, iPad with 1000 games but only uses two or three. She still plays Fruit Ninja. One of her favorites is Among Us, especially when she gets impostor. She does get caught most of the times though, because she's too impatient and ends up being uhm not-so-stealthy.

- Oh and she definitely plays Pokemon Go. Opens it once a year really, but she never ever got rid of the app on her phone.

- Sings in the shower. She's definitely not a good singer, yells too much and is constantly out of tune.

- Do not ever look at her YouTube playlist. Most random videos on that. You can find silly songs such as Narwhal, Dewgong and Capibara, and then a bunch of random science videos. Has watched videos about how Romans pooped and Roman baths like a hundred times. Her favorite YouTube thing is still the llama Carl though.

- Has a lot of plants in the house but they're all dead or about to die. She has a little plant that somehow has managed to survive and sticks with her. She talks to the plant as if it was a pet.

- She will never admit it to Levi, but when she does not want to do the dishes, she eats straight out of the pan.

- Wouldn't be bad at cooking, but lacks the patience for elaborate dishes. Ends up cooking very quick things and eats a lot of pasta with different sauces because that's quick. She also has it al dente, not because she knows that's how it should be done, but because it's quicker.

- Can't stand when it's hot in summer and strolls around the house with just her panties on. The neighbors on the opposite building have seen her naked through the windows more than once. She just does not bother to pull the curtains.

- Sleeps on her back most of the times and snores a lot.

- Her natural time to wake up in the morning is around 11 am. Before that, she can wake up but feels extremely groggy.

- Owns plushies. But not teddy bears and common stuff. She has an axolotl plushie, a kiwi bird plushie, a dodo and a platypus.

- She has this thing to go the beach or the pool. She loves it.

Struggling with diabetes lately. I'm still trying to process that it's forever, meds HAVE to be daily. And I hear all the time well my X relative has it and you wouldn't know it! They love a normal life!

Like yes I know but that's not the point. Not to me. That's not my worry. Its the pressure that it's forever. It's the overwhelming feeling that one of my biggest fears came true and nobody knows WHY outside of bad genetics(every doctor has been floored. You're a healthy weight, your labs are all GOOD. You haven't existed long enough to have caused it yourself through bad diet or smth)

It's having to now schedule 20 different preventative appointments, to get my eyes checked because it can damage small blood vessels. To get my hands and feet checked because it effects circulation. I've been offered a spot in groups of people also dealing with it but not a single person is under the age of 50 and learning to manage diabetes.

I'm seeing a dietician to help management outside of medicine and it's a good thing but I'm convinced this whole thing is giving me more problems, especially problems regarding how I see food now. I can't take my meds without food either to add a whole other layer of problems to it.

Managing diabetes with food means meal planning and calorie counting and carb counting and watching every little thing I eat down to a handful of crackers and figuring out what I CAN eat and what I CANT eat and what will raise my sugar and what won't and even with "cheat" meals of. If I eat this I KNOW it will spike my sugar, sometimes it's easier to not eat at all than stress myself out to the point of crying.

Yeah. I'm told it'll get easier and I won't have to count my portions down to the spoonful. But its NOT easy right now because I'm still in the beginning. It's HARD and STRESSFUL and I don't care about the future because the NOW is stressing me out to a point where I can't think about needing to eat even a snack so I can take my meds without stressing to tears about it.
