The signs of puberty can begin as early as age 8 in children with a uterus, including menstrual bleeding, and we want them to feel prepared not scared. . No matter YOUR genitals, you can absolutely start the talks- this isn’t a post or task just for moms! I have a great list of books (link to the reading list in bio) and @amazeorg has super helpful and fun short videos to spark learning and discussion. You absolutely have what it takes to educate your child, and they do want to hear it from you, not word on the street. . And this reminder is not just for “girl” parents. Our children with a penis need to know about menstruation too. It fosters empathy and awareness that makes them amazingly conscious and supportive friends and partners instead of being inept, misogynistic period-shamers. . Let’s do our part to make sure children are prepared to know, love and care for their bodies. No shame. No taboo.
