HEY EVERYONE
i’m finally doing the review of NCIS: Los Angeles
this is one of the comfort series that I watch and that feels like i’m a part of the family. the first time i watched it I was a little girl, recently I wanted to watch it again because I wanted to understand better the events and connect the dots. so here’s the review!
possible spoilers of NCIS: Los Angeles
the plot is one of my favorite, all the investigations are solved by a two persons-team formed by Special Agent G. Callen and Special Agent Sam Hanna, an ex navy-seal. The other team is formed, for the first season, by Special Agent Kensi Blye and Dominic Vail, a young operative agent who is killed in action during the first season, leaving Kensi Blye without a teammate and full of feelings of guilt. the spot is taken, in season 2, by Detective Marty Deeks, who make a liaison between LAPD and NCIS. He holds this position until departmental reforms in season 12 end up terminating it, after which he completes FLETC training and officially joins NCIS as an Investigator. Henrietta Lange is the leader of this office. In OSP, the team is completed by Operational Psychologist Nate Getz, and Technical Operator Eric Beale. Nate is assigned, after season 1, to different operations by Hetty, and returns only for occasional guest appearances. During the second season, Intelligent Analyst Nelly Jones joins the team, and forms an amazing team with Eric, until eventually the two of them become closer. during the remaining seasons a lot of people appears in the series, like Assistant Director Owen Granger, assigned to the team as oversight whit Hetty, who dies in season 8 after discovering he was ill with cancer (it coincide with real-life battle of the actor, Miguel Ferrer, who was ill with cancer and died). In season 9 Hetty goes to Vietnam on a personal mission, and her place is taken by Executive Assistant Director Pacific Shay Mosley, who is basically in search for revenge and almost get the entire team killed during a non-authorized operation. Later she sends the team and her trusted assistant, Special Agent Harley Hidoko, to Mexico, to rescue her son from her criminal ex-husband. the operation ends well, but her assistant remains killed during the op. The OSP is put under investigation and, at the beginning of the tenth season, Shay Mosley resigns. During season 11/12 Nell and Eric depart for the private sector, so the OSP recruited two rookies: Agents Fatima Namazi and Agent Devin Roundtree. Hetty leaves again so Admiral Hollace Killbride is assigned as Director of Special Operations in season 13. The series ends with Callen married to Anna, Kensi married to Deeks and finally pregnant, and Callen and Sam taking a side project mission to find and rescue Hetty, supported by a new team, including old teammates Nelly and Nate.
During the series:
Callen wants to figure out who his family was, because he grew up in foster homes. At some point he finds his father and his half sister, but their relationship is difficult.
Sam has to deal with the death of his wife, killed during a joined operation with CIA, leaving him with two children and a sense of guilt that never goes away.
Kensi and Deeks decide to adopt a girl from Mexico, and later they find out that Kensi is pregnant.
Hetty faces the difficulties of a life spent undercover.
In my opinion this series is one of the most tricky and challenging series i’ve ever watched. you want to watch episode after episode to discover what is going on. i literally devoured it, i liked it a lot. it’s worth the time you spend to watch it.
thank you so much for reading this review, i hope you like it and i hope you liked this series as i did!
SEE YA :)

Postcards from Snagglepuss
Preliminaries, preliminaries
Just be thankful in a way for the generosity of fellow Funtastics, and their finding some worthwhile schtick on Amazon.com, for some serious help with the Thanksgiving dinner for such company as Crazy Claws has set up to begin with--yours truly, Huckleberry Hound, Yakky Doodle and Chopper, Pixie and Dixie, Touché Turtle and Dum-Dum, the Hair Bear Bunch and some mystery guests, know.
Especially for the trims that manage to supplement the turkey breast dinner we're managing to pull off on Thanksgiving Day ... in particular such esoteric examples of brands you don't usually expect to find stateside, never mind the arrogance of such calling themselves "Real Americans" too dependent on a certain Wally World for their own best interests and unaware of other choices to begin with.
But at any rate, consider what the proverbial cat dragged in when it came to Thanksgiving dinner preparations: Packets of mashed potato flakes, both traditional and garlic, perhaps adding a little in the variety department for the dinner by combining the two.
Some Gravox gravy mix via Kwicky Koala, for to blend some gravy out of the pan drippings ... and just hope it comes out right.
And some Paxo stuffing mix from England, the classic sage-and-onion sort even ... who said it has to always be Stove-Top? (Not to mention at least one box of the sage-and-onion with lemon added!)
But then again, Crazy Claws was able to get some fresh turkey breasts for roasting at a local meat market in Lake Delton. No doubt beating the ordeal, if it could be called so, of having to get up early and thaw the turkey starting around breakfast time, before the parades start being on the vidiot's box even (during which time the turkey would head for the oven and our company perhaps enjoying coffee and conversation!).
But still, let's hope things don't turn out rather crazy and convoluted once the dinner comes forth....

Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson are 'Dead Again' on Prime Video, Paramount+ and MGM+
Actor and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh followed up Henry V, his acclaimed screen adaptation of his London stage production, with abrupt change-of-pace. Dead Again (1991) is a stylish thriller that draws on Alfred Hitchcock, classic film noir, and gothic shockers. Sporting an exaggerated American accent, Branagh stars as L.A. private eye Mike Church, a hard-boiled but soft-hearted detective who…

Illustration of Eric Homan + Fred Seibert by Natasha Allegri.
Eric Homan.
Soon after I got to Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, my Fred/Alan colleague, Tom Barreca, joined up, running the Enterprises group (he developed our characters into award winning partnerships), and he introduced me to a recent hire in his group, Eric Homan.
And a wonderful 30+ year cartoon relationship began.
"The World of Hanna-Barbera" edited by Eric Homan
Eric and I played a lot of roles together, from animation art to Frederator-on-the-internet (he critical to the founding of Channel Frederator and Cartoon Hangover). But, really it’s the cartoons.
Tumblr media
Eric is most known and successful because of his development of the entire Frederator slate from 2004 on, starting with the Nicktoons Film Festival, and on through Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, Random! Cartoons, Too Cool! Cartoons, and GO! Cartoons. And, not for nothing, Eric and Kevin Kolde double handedly ran Frederator Studios when I lived on the East coast and was starting up our YouTube channels, among other things.
Tumblr media
But he’s rightly most revered for his roles in Pendleton Ward’s Adventure Time and Natasha Allegri’s Bee and PuppyCat. Networks and streamers like Netflix, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Max, Amazon Prime, Cartoon Hangover, and Channel Frederator owe a lot to Eric Homan.
Tumblr media
(And lest you be skeptical about the work that goes into the “development” of cartoons led by such stellar creators, remember that Eric personally sifted through at least 5000 shorts pitches for our 60+ creator led shorts and honed in on the creators that created the series that spun off. I might have founded the studio, but Eric carried the weight.)
By the way, I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you the crucial role Mr. Homan played in Adventure Time’s life. As part of his constant search for special talent at Frederator, Eric visited end-of-semester student film showcases at CalArts outside of Los Angeles. In the early aughts, he caught a film of junior Pen Ward’s and introduced himself; the next year, they bumped into each other again and a month after graduation, Pen pitched his AT board. A few weeks later, Pen pitched me.
And I turned it down.
At the end of a long day of not-so-great presentations, Eric, Kevin Kolde and I retreated to my office to review. I made the classic executive mistake of thinking I knew what was right.
“He doesn’t have any professional experience. His drawing is primitive. We don’t make student films here.“
Eric and Kevin were surprised, they loved Pen and his idea. They pushed. I pushed back. And then Eric delivered the zinger.
“You try to be polite, you usually have a fake laugh in our pitches. But you actually laughed with Adventure Time.”
Busted. Eric knew me better than I did, and he knew a great piece of work when he saw it. The rest is history.
There are more stories that I can tell you. It comes down to the fact that’s Eric’s role in the modern history in cartoons is unique. Bottom line, it’s been an honor to work with Eric Homan, and not for nothing, we continue to collaborate in the wide world of cartoons. Thanks bud.
PS: Eric doesn’t love having his picture taken, hence Natasha’s illustration up above. But, I thought I’d share this snap of Eric, Pen Ward and me from 2008.
Tumblr media
I’ve posted often about my mentors, the people I’ve learned the most from. And I’ve noted how often how many of them beg to differ as to whether or not I should credit them as such. So, I’ve calmed down in my titling. But still...
