Stardust x Aurora Candy + Family headcanons b/c yes-
☆ Still trying figure exactly how the two met, but was I've managed to create so far was; Aurora Candy is a regular late-night shift is and just about to head to the train yard, till he finds Stardust's unconscious body floating through space. He freaks out and hijinks ensue from there, a very "Little Mermaid" situation
☆ Of course, when they do catch feeling, they experience it in different ways (Aurora Candy being a mushy tsundere and Stardust having never experienced feelings like that ever, finds it new and confusing, but also intriguing)
☆ Both Stardust and Aurora Candy have emotion outbursts, mostly due to Aurora's very short temper and Stardust just being plain emotional at times, which is rare for someone so quiet and charming
☆ Their "little" family is a mix between Bob's Burgers and Steven Universe. On one hand we have Stardust, who loves his kids more than anything and wants them to learn as much about the world as possible despite not knowing much himself. And on the other hand, there Aurora Candy, who loves and is sorta overprotective of his kids, but wants to honest with them and teach them the harsh reality, as well as wanting them to pursue promising careers
☆ As expected from a rather strict father, Aurora Candy Cookie runs a somewhat militaristic household, having rules to that the kids have to follow, many of which played a role in shaping Financier Cookie into what she is today. But it's logical it say the least, you'd be strict too if you had 7 kids
☆ Stardust on the other hand is way more relaxed and cooperative. He also stays at home the most, so with this, the kids could get away with more than they should, but they don't. Why? Because their dad(to them) is a loveable dork who can be naive at times, and they don't wanna hurt the poor guy's feelings
☆ Stardust has many hobbies, his favorite being baking/cooking. His first time baking was making a birthday cake for Aurora when he said his birthday "wasn't important" How'd it turn out?. . . Not great
Stardust, reading a cookbook: Let's see, 2 cups of flour. . .
*Proceeds to take a drinking glass, fills it with flour and dumps it into the bowl*
☆ One messy cake and a lesson on measuring cups later, there was no turning back. His favorite thing being the happy reactions people get when enjoy his baked goods
☆ And he doesn't simplify things either. He makes all sorts of international dishes, experimenting with different spices, textures, and flavors, with the goal of satisfying to not just his family
☆ Whenever Aurora has a rough day at work, you can be assured that he'll spent the rest of the night cuddling his lover, wrapped in his wings/cape and talking about their days
*Stardust is chilling in a rocking chair with Space Doughnut, sleeping in his arms*
*Aurora walks into the room, completely dazed and tired*
Stardust: Rough night?
Aurora, tired: *Sigh* yes, dear. . .
*Aurora walks over to his bird husband, and hopes onto his lap*
*Stardust lets him hold their baby as he wraps his cape around them*
☆ Aurora Candy and Dr. Evilglave are brothers (Glaze being the eldest of the two). They're not what you call "close," better yet the complete opposite. As you except, Dr. Evilglave is a mad scientist and war criminal, and was about to over their universe till Stardust and Aurora put an end to his escapade
☆ Despite there always being rift in their relationship, Dr. Evilglave has respect for his little brother, especially for landing such an amazing spouse
☆ Moonlight, Stardust's sister, protects Wizard City with the dream barrier. This, of course, isn't a good thing considering she can't interact with her family (heck, she doesn't even know that most her nieces and nephews exist!) The only one of their kids who met Aunt Moonlight was Financier, but she was extremely young when that happened
☆The two space siblings have for rather, complex, relationship, considering the Moonlight was the "golden child" in the wizards' eye but she was too naive to realize that, therefore thinking they were loved equally
☆ Sugar Glass extremely fixated on Moonlight, hoping one day to meet her. In their home that is clock tower, there's a large window which gives an ariel view of Moonlight, if not playing with her siblings or gardening, her nights are spent watching her through the window
*Sugar is sitting the windowsill, watching Moonlight as she slumbers*
*Stardust enters the room*
Stardust: Sugar, dearest, it is time for bed
Sugar, still looking through the window: Papa, will we ever meet the Slumbering Moon one day?. .
*Stardust sees his sister, already having mixed feelings*
Stardust, patting his daughter's shoulder: Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. . . but, do I know this, her dreams create a barrier between the outside world and the City of Wizards, as well as a getaway into the World of Dreams. She protects this precious city from harm, that is why it is so important for her to rest. . .
Sugar, not satisfied with his first answer: If that's so. . . why does have do it alone? . . isn't there anything we can do to help?
Stardust: *Sigh* My sister is. . . a complex soul, she was willing to wait for wizards despite them disappearing long ago. Also willing to sacrifice a life with us, with you. . . She's achieved this task alone for years, and it's a decision we unfortunately have to respect. . .
Sugar: . . . Ok Papa. . .
*She hops off the windowsill, and the two leave*
☆ With Amber being a 12yo boy, there's not exactly much "clean" about him (cause hormones), but surprisingly one of the only things he's able to keep clean is his room. Speaking of which, he actually a big fan of cleaning in general, but that could the bee genres
☆ Milky Way and Aurora Candy have the best father-daughter relationship. Ever since they had first child, Aurora hoped that one day he would get to share the family business with the kids, but unfortunately none of them were interested, all but Milky, who basically a copy-paste of what he was like when he was a kid

Notes: Welcome to chapter two! This took way longer to write than I expected, fantasy is in fact, hard. Lmao. Let's all welcome Namjoonie! He's so interesting to me, writing his piece was fun!
I hope you all enjoy!! Let me know what you think :))
Tumblr media
“I didn’t expect you back so quickly, Ingrid.” Namjoon leans back against the chair he sits in, frowning down at the cup of tea before him. He’s yet to drink it, though, the bitter mix of herbs always stalls him.
His study was quiet, save for the soft sigh that leaves the woman who sat opposite him. She’s as calm as he’s known her to be, green eyes shadowed by her dark hair that frames her face in ringlets.
She sips from the bitter tea as though it’s wine, eyes crinkling at the corners with a ghost of a smile. There’s a soft shuffling of fabrics as she adjusts herself in the chair, multi-coloured Romani dress dusting the floor at her feet.
“He was quite easy to find, my sister has been watching over him for some time now.” She says, setting the small cup down. She shifts again, glancing out the window with a slight frown that pulls the corners of her lips downward and creases her dark brows. “He should be in Jax already.”
Namjoon nods, sliding his cup of tea away from him, ignoring the look Ingrid sends his way. Amber liquid spills over the edge of the cup and thankfully, into the saucer beneath it.
“You’re supposed to drink that.”
“I will... eventually.” He grimaces at the thought; he really doesn’t want to, benefits be damned. Namjoon exhales softly, brows lowering with his mood. “So, I suppose you’ve heard already...”
“The attack in Daasir?” she nods, eyes downcast, “Yes, I’ve heard. Many lost their lives, half the village completely destroyed.”
“I only received word of it a day after. The attackers weren’t wearing the colors of any court, but they used arcane magic.” Namjoon supplies, but he assumes Ingrid knew this already, as she usually does.
“There’s been quite a bit of that happening.” The woman mutters, fingers dancing along the handle of her cup. Her voice is quieter when she speaks again, “Daasir wasn’t the first. There’s a village in the south that had been attacked three days before. Whoever they are, they’re moving quickly.”
Namjoon hums, looking out the window behind her, to where the sea crashes restlessly against jagged rocks. It foams as it crests, like the mouth of a wild beast, calming as it pulls away and repeats. It looked as his mind felt, rash and unforgiving in its nature; never giving him a moment’s peace. “And the prophecy?”
“These occurrences were out of my sight. I’ve already played my part, your highness.” Ingrid puts a hand up, golden rings glittering against the morning light, “I would’ve told you if I’d seen anything else.”
“I’m afraid that they might be looking for it.” Namjoon mutters, fingers pressing against his mouth as he leans back into his chair. Brown eyes find green, and Namjoon sighs warily, “One of the seers were killed in Daasir.”
Daasir is just on the outskirts of Kadïr’s borders, a day’s walk at least, and a few more to get to his city. It wouldn’t be long until the attack makes its way to him.
This troubled him greatly. There is one of many reasons why they would come this way, if they were seeking the Seers for any purpose, as many of them resided in Kadïr.
The Records of the sight are in his possession. Given to him to protect by his father, who is of the higher order. Anything that a Seer has seen, has been recorded within the records, no matter the insignificance of their sight. Even if the attack does come this way, it would take them months, if not years, to find whatever they’re searching for.
There is one thing that bothers Namjoon the most; the missing Record. The sight of the First Seer has been missing for years, Namjoon thinks it probably wasn’t even recorded. Though, he doubts it; it’s the most important record in history – the prophesied fall of the kingdoms, the Shadow Weaver and the Light Bringer.
The Seers are few and far between, it’s a gift that’s waning as time goes on. The Seer that resided in Daasir was one of the higher order, and even with his arcane he was killed - Namjoon has every reason to worry.
“The Records will have to be relocated.” Namjoon says, nodding more to himself than to Ingrid who watches him with a careful eye. “I will have them sent to Lumina.”
“You’ll have a hard time. Jimin is impossible to find when he doesn’t want to be.” Ingrid chuckles, shaking her head, “And not to mention the convincing it would take for him to step foot on his homeland.”
“I don’t see any other option.”
“Very well.” Ingrid sighs as she stands, reaching for her cloak and pulling it over her shoulders where she clasps it at her neck. “I’ll speak with him, when I find him, that is. For now, I have business elsewhere.”
“Of course,” Namjoon stands and leads her to the door of his study, “Thank you for coming, Ingrid.”
Ingrid waves him off with a hand, “I'll let Jimin know to contact you when he’s ready. Give my regards to your father.”
Tumblr media
Namjoon wakes in a cold sweat, tripping on the linen of his sheets as he scrambles out of his bed. Rushing over to the study table in the corner of his room, he roots around the scattered sheets of loose paper and history books. Something small and made of glass clatters to the ground and shatters in his haste.
There’s a knock on his door, heavy handed and jarring in his state, and then a voice seeping through the wood. “Your Highness? Are you alright?”
Namjoon doesn’t answer, mind too far to form words as he locates his journal and a feathered quill. He flips through the pages, going past all the little, insignificant details of his sight, to reach a blank page.
He writes what he’s seen, of the darkness and the light, and the screams that ring still in his ears. The way he stood in the middle of a plain grass field, blood on his feet and his hands, there were people talking, their words, now, unclear to him. There was a man in the distance, who walked with shadows, and another at his feet.
“Your highness?” His door swings open at the last scratch if his quill and Namjoon slams his journal shut. Spinning on his heel, he finds his guard, standing at the open door with his weapon at the ready.
“I’m alright.” Namjoon says, pressing the heel of his palms into his eyes. He doesn’t feel alright, though, even as he shakes his head to clear the sounds that haunt him. “Bad dream.”
His guard doesn’t look convinced, but says nothing on the matter. He leaves then, closing the door with a quiet click, and Namjoon is left alone, hands shaking at his sides.
There’s a storm brewing over the sea, something he can see even under the veil of night.
Something is coming, and Namjoon doesn’t like it. He has to get to Jax as quickly as possible.
Tumblr media
Yoongi carefully slips out of the bedroom and finds himself in the longest hallway he’s ever seen in his life. It’s sparsely lit, light penetrating the darkness streaming through windows in the high ceiling above. The carpet below his feet is soft, silencing the sound of his steps as he simply picks a direction to walk in.
The hallway is endless; lines of doors just continue on and Yoongi doesn’t know where to go. He’d like to stop and wonder about this a bit more, is it a dream?
He’d like to believe he’s dreaming, that it’s probably four in the morning and he’s wrapped up nice and warm in his bed and this is just a very lucid dream.
The carpet under him feels too real, there’s a draft that’s chilly despite the sun that shines in intervals, and he could count all his fingers.
He’s had lucid dreams before, but they weren’t ever like this and he pinches himself just to be sure.
Maybe he should have stayed in the room, Yoongi thinks. It’s far better than wandering around with no idea where to go. This hallway doesn’t seem to end, there’s no turn offs, no exit as far as Yoongi can see, just the endless line of mahogany doors. He stops walking, raising a hand to rub at his eye; the headache is getting worse.
There’s something tightening his stomach and he feels like he’s going to be sick.
“Are you sure you know how to ride a horse?”
“Of course I know how to ride a horse! It’s been a while, that’s all!”
“If you would stop riding that overgrown chicken of yours-”
Yoongi tenses as voices trail his way, though he’s not quite sure where they’re coming from. They seem to echo, bouncing off the walls around him and running down the hall. He turns, sweaty hand fumbling with the knob of a door that just wouldn’t budge. Swearing, he looks back the way he came, realizing that it was indeed quite foolish to leave where he was told to stay; all the damn doors looked the same.
“Shit...c’mon.” Giving up he shuffles quickly to the door next to it, only to find it locked as well.
He’s not quite sure what happens next. One second he’s thinking that if he jingles the doorknob enough it would magically open, and the next, his chest is being pressed against it and there’s something very sharp at his neck.
Yoongi sucks air through his teeth when his forehead knocks painfully against the mahogany door. The voice that addresses him is low and threatening: “Who are you?”
“Seokjin!” Someone tugs the man away and slowly, Yoongi turns to face him, hands up.
Seokjin, is holding a dagger, still pointed at Yoongi who startles and presses his back against the wooden door when he sees it.
He’s wearing the same clothes the man he saw earlier was wearing: band collared white shirt, with gold on the trimming, black fitted pants, knee high riding boots and a navy blue cloak that clasps at the neck with some sort of gold crest. The lack of a sword at his hip doesn’t make Yoongi feel less uneasy when he’s pointing a dagger at him.
Jesus Christ, he just wants to go home. He wants whatever the fuck is going on to just stop already, he wants this damn headache to go away.
He watches as the girl – you – tug Seokjin’s arm down, and he’s sure you’re saying something – your lips are moving, though, you’re speaking so lowly that Yoongi can only wonder. You’re wearing the same clothes as Seokjin, though without the cloak.
The dagger shimmers out of Seokjin’s hold as though it’s never been, the visage wavering like a mirage before it disappears and Yoongi feels quite faint.
He’s been freaky Tuesday’d and he’s losing his damn mind.
Yoongi’s eyes shift, staring at the points of Seokjin’s ears sticking out of his dark hair, and says the first thing that comes to mind. “Are you an elf or something?”
“That’s insulting.” Seokjin snaps, crossing his arms and you roll your eyes as he stares petulantly up the endless hallway.
“Please, ignore him.” You say, and Yoongi doesn’t miss the way your fingers sneak at Seokjin’s side and pinch, “What are you doing out here in the hallway? You were supposed to stay in the room.”
Seokjin sends a confused glance your way, “Don’t tell me this is him...”
“Look.” Yoongi takes a breath, “I just want to get out of here – wherever here is. I don’t want any trouble.”
You furrow your brows, “Didn’t Hoseok explain? You fell out of the sky.”
At the mention, Yoongi is rightfully confused. He thinks he would remember falling, but he doesn’t. He knows he woke up this morning, got ready for work, left his home and somehow ended up here after talking to that strange old woman in the street.
He can feel the veins in his head throbbing with the headache that just seems to get more painful.
“There you are.” Hoseok comes walking up the hall, white coat billowing behind his quick steps. “Why didn’t you stay put? You shouldn’t be walking around in your condition.”
No one’s explaining anything, Yoongi’s more confused than he’s ever been and it’s getting on his nerves. “Can one of you just tell me what the hell is going on?”
“The headache and nausea you’re feeling is from your severe magic depletion.” Hoseok says, “Which is why I told you to stay put.”
Right, that makes a whole lot of sense.
Yoongi nods even though everything he said went right through his ears.
“I’ll explain everything to you as soon as you sit down and relax for a moment.”
And so, Yoongi follows Hoseok back the way he came, hyper aware of you and Seokjin walking behind him. His ears feel as though they’re flooded with water and his mouth feels like someone stuck cotton in it.
When they reach the door - Yoongi presumes it's the room he left - he realizes that he hadn’t made it very far. He sighs as he sits on the soft bed, feeling a little better now that he isn’t standing.
There’s a tray with a cup on the bedside table that wasn’t there when he left, the cup that Hoseok passes to him with a stern look. “Drink this.”
Yoongi looks into the cup with thinly veiled suspicion, it seems like water – at least he hopes it is. He takes a hesitant sip and immediately spits it back, holding the cup away from him. Bitterness clings to the back of his throat so harshly he feels as though he’d never taste anything else, “What is this?”
“Cejid. It’s something that’s good for you.” Hoseok gives him a look, though his touch is gentle as he pushes his hand back, “You’ll feel better, it’ll help with the headache.”
Making a face, Yoongi swallows it as quickly as his gag reflex allowed. Hoseok takes the cup from him with a pleased nod, turning to you and Seokjin.
“Was there something you needed, Your Highness?”
Well, this is as crazy as it gets. He's finally lost it, dreaming about magic and elves and princesses.
You shake your head, eyes finding Yoongi’s, who looks away instantly.
“Do you want to explain or should I?” Hoseok asks, pulling the chair around to the other side of the table so he could sit.
Yoongi tries to focus, really, he does. But there’s a sudden sting at his side, something that stings and burns all at once like he rolled around in stinging nettle. He sucks a sharp intake of air through his teeth, a hand flying to the spot on his ribs.
“What is it?” Hoseok asks, reaching a hand out but not touching – concerned.
Without answering Yoongi tugs the hem of his sweater and tee-shirt below upwards. The skin of his ribs is irritated – the throbbing burn of it is enough to push away the dimming ache in his head completely. Sitting there on his ribcage is a symbol. There’s a thin golden ring around what seems to be a dark sun, if the outwardly extending swirls and the black dot in the center was anything to go by.
The burning, stinging sensation is quick to fade, leaving just a dull throb and reddened skin.
“Wh-“ Yoongi presses his fingers into the mark, and comes to the haunting realization that this is actually happening. He doesn’t think he’s dreaming anymore. “What did you give me?”
He looks up at Hoseok first, and then, to the cup he’d place back on the nightstand wearily.
“Just herbal tea.” He mutters, and he wasn’t even looking at him, eyes trained on the mark that just, quite literally, branded itself onto Yoongi’s skin. He turns to face the other two occupants of the room. “Jin.”
Without another word, Seokjin nods, turning on his heel to leave the room.
You step closer, hovering behind Hoseok, wringing your fingers together. “Light bearer...” You say softly, eyes meeting Yoongi’s briefly.
Yoongi lets his clothes settle against him once more, sighing loudly through his nose. There’s panic, shifting again under the surface of his skin, and under that, there’s anger rising. You and Hoseok are talking in hushed tones too soft for him to hear, though, that may just be the blood rushing in his ears.
“Can one of you just tell me what’s happening?” He snaps, hands white knuckling the linen sheets under him. You both immediately quiet, and you looked worried, as though whatever you and Hoseok were discussing troubled you greatly. Yoongi takes a moment to breathe, to calm down, and his voice is softer when he begs. “Please.”
“That mark is your Arcane. A symbol that represents your affinity.” Hoseok says gently, though it does little to ease Yoongi’s panic. He rolls up the sleeve of his white coat to show his forearm and the mark that laid near the crook of his elbow. Yoongi can’t focus enough to make out the finer details of it, though.
“We receive them as infants, though, it’s usually a painless process. There are a few reasons why yours had been, which of course, explains your magic depletion.” Hoseok stares past him for a moment, brows drawing together. He looks to be in a little debate with himself, mouth in a firm line.
“Your coming was foretold a long time ago. You’re the child of the prophecy.”

Their last meeting: three weeks before

her kingdom, his fingers uncurling
from her hair. An ordinary end
to an ordinary night.

chain link fences posting again.....
i still have absolutely zero "plot" but i am trying to work on designs and figure out what the characters would be up to in their post-canon worlds.......
cloud (sws link) is still technically a knight but mostly just tends to the loftwings now. sometimes he comes in as a guest teacher at the knight academy, especially for swordplay. mostly he just wants to rest (has chronic pain and fatigue, and is finally getting accommodations)
amber (sws zelda) is a full-time knight (has a sky blue uniform!) she and cloud are engaged, but are focussing on mapping the surface before settling down and getting married
lilium (botw/totk zelda) travels around trying to re-familiarise herself with hyrule. part time teacher in hateno. also works with the zonai research team (tauro is still the head, because she doesn't want to have that much responsibility while working on so many other things)
starlight (botw/totk link) travels with lilium, helps out whenever they're in towns or at stables. constantly in motion, wanting to help people. loves exploring and learning with lilium. they're best friends
firefly (tp link) has no idea what to do with himself post-canon. splits his time between tending to the goats in ordon (and other tasks in their hometown) and wandering hyrule. kind of restless, just wants to feel useful. sometimes helps the gang back in castle town.
fay (oot link) travelling around hyrule and neighbouring kingdoms. ended up in hytopia for awhile, studying fashion there. deeply regrets what happened to ganondorf, doesn't know how to help the gerudo. resents the king, lowkey resents sheik, trying to develop better friendship with malon and zelda.
charm (hw link) i'm still working on that. i don't know much of anything abt hw plot. all i know for charm is that he and linkle are siblings by choice.

"Remember me" Javi and his sister 🥺
Thank you so much for this prompt, I adore Javi and his family so much 💖💖💖 This ended up being super long though, so apologies in advance if it's a mess lol.
TW for transphobia (from Javi's mother)
BOP - Javi's Reunion - WC 4K
Alex’s eyes shot open when he felt the empty space in the bed. He found Javi by the window, still dressed in his robe, letting the scars on his chest breathe. A warm mug sat in his hands, the herbal recipe given to him and Alex by their doctors to help with their physical changes. Javi took a slow drink as he looked out at Paradise’s many stars.
“Hey there,” Alex said as he cleared his eyes. “Nightmares?”
Javi shook his head. “Memories.”
His voice was getting deeper, thanks to the tea and the other treatments he had received. A soft, smooth sound, like someone rising early in the morning. He never raised his voice any higher, though, perhaps out of fear of hearing his old voice again. Alex sat up and patted the bed.
“Do you want to tell me?”
Javi smiled. The starlight glowed in his raven hair, in his dark eyes, and across his soft brown cheeks.
“My family,” he said. “I can’t explain it, but… I miss them.”
Alex snorted. “They were family, it’s normal to miss them.”
“Even when they tried to kill us both?”
“Your parents were straight monsters, but your siblings were good people, right?”
Javi closed his eyes. “Lorena called me delusional.”
“Sir Ezra supported you, and Lady Elisabete adored you. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her.”
“You’re right.” A tear ran down Javi’s cheek as he smiled. “I wish I could see them again.”
Alex nodded, wishing he had magic of his own to grant Javi’s wishes.
… Magic.
“Gazali!” Alex leapt out of bed. “He has all sorts of fancy magic stuff. He can help you, can’t he?”
Javi’s eyes sparkled with hope. “He could— He must! Can we do it, Alex? Could we really see them?”
Alex ran over to him, placing his mug down so he could interlace their fingers. His rough, blistered hands fit perfectly between those of former royalty.
“We absolutely can, love. I’ll make sure of it.”
Javi’s smile faded. “What if they don’t recognize me? Or they don’t want to see me?”
“I’ll be right there with you, Javi. I’ll make them see you… All of you.”
Alex pressed his lips to Javi’s forehead, peace washing over him as his prince rubbed his chest. Never in his whole life had he expected someone like Javi to show him so much love and kindness. If Alex had even the slightest chance to repay the happiness that he gave him, he would do whatever it took.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Gazali paced across the library, stroking his beard as Javi explained what he wanted. The King of Paradise knew grief better than anyone in the kingdom, and for Javi and Alex, he would have done anything they asked without hesitation. Still, a look of concern swirled in those amber eyes.
“Forgive me, my friends. As much as I want to help you, I can’t send you back there.”
Javi squeezed his hand. “Gazi, please, there has to be a way.”
“Not physically. I can’t control where you’d land on the Mainland, or how you’d get back.”
“What if you bring them here?” Alex said. “Open up a portal, let them come through.”
“They have to be chosen by the Celestials, I have no control over it.” Gazali closed his eyes. “I don’t wish to be rude, Javi, but your parents have an… anti-Paradisian mindset. I fear to think of what they’d do when they see you with your transitional changes, or to Pedra and the others.”
Javi stared at the floor. “No, you’re right. I wouldn’t wish that on any of them. It’s not worth the risk.”
Alex squeezed his hand, pained by the frown on his husband’s face. “There has to be something, Gaz, even if you can’t bring them here. A spell or a potion, something your apprentices could conjure up.”
Gazali suddenly snapped his fingers. “Projection! I could project you into your old palace. You’ll still be in Paradise, but your souls will be there with your family.”
“Like a ghost?” Alex asked.
“Like a waking dream. That way, your family can’t hurt you, and you can still say goodbye to them. I’ve only tried it once for Alistair, but I believe it can work for you.”
Javi was overcome with joy, wrapping his arms around Gazali and pulling him down to kiss his cheek.
“Thank you, Gazi— Thank you, thank you!”
Gazali smiled and removed two of his rings. “You’ll need a piece of me in case I need to reach you before your visit is done. These should do the trick. You won’t have a lot of time on the Mainland, but you’ll be able to see everyone.”
Javi and Alex each put on a ring. They were gold bands with red jewels that glowed like a fire. It looked perfect next to their pale wedding bands. Javi showed off his rings, wiggling his fingers excitedly as his husband chuckled.
“It’s beautiful, love.” He bowed to Gazali. “We can’t thank you enough, your majesty.”
Gazali stroked his cheek. “I do believe I owe you two for your company.”
“Oh, I didn’t know you were gonna pay us in magic. I might have pulled out some new tricks.”
It was always a delight for Javi to see his king reduced to shy smiles and giggles whenever Alex flirted with him. Of course, one grab of the chin was all it took to make Alex’s freckled face go red.
“Perhaps you can show me when you return,” Gazali said.
Javi grabbed both of their shoulders, delighted by how quickly they both focused on him.
“Reunion first, bedroom later.” He kissed Gazali’s cheek. “I promise.”
Gazali smiled and took a step back. With a deep breath and the flick of his wrist, a light cloud of mist circled the duo. The castle library slowly faded into bright nothingness. Before the cloud erased every bit of scenery, the king’s voice echoed through the light.
“I wish you a happy visit, Javi.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Javi clutched Alex’s hand as the cloud dissipated, placing them behind a pillar in the throne room of Javi’s old home. Alex looked transparent, even in the shadows— a possible side-effect of the projection spell, Javi realized. Alex hovered his hand beside Javi’s face and smiled.
“This could work, actually,” he whispered. “If your parents see us, we’ll say we came back to haunt them for their misdeeds.”
Javi covered his mouth to stifle his giggles. “Don’t make me laugh, dear, not now.”
He jumped at the sudden sound of the heavy doors on the far side of the room. They huddled close to the pillar, and as Javi looked around, he realized how foreign the castle was to him now. So many new tapestries and suits of armor lined the hall, all leading to four polished wooden thrones. Still, its grandeur was nothing compared to what Javi had seen in Paradise.
They peeked around the corner of the pillar at the people who had just entered: an older couple taking their seats on the thrones— Javi’s parents— and the tall, irritated woman standing before them. Lorena looked as world-worn as Javi had feared. She wore their mother’s deep frown as though she was born with it, and her sagging eyes matched their father.
As for their parents… they looked so dull, almost fake, like the stiff wooden toys that the children in town used to play with. Javi had only remembered their cold, pitying stares, and the rage that possessed his mother’s face when she blamed Alex for “corrupting her child.” Now, they were simply aging monarchs, no less miserable than Lorena.
They were arguing with each other, as always, but Lorena had never been this angry before. She hurled insult after insult at her parents, blaming them for the state of the kingdom. It had been so long since Javi last saw their town that he couldn’t recognize the names of the buildings and families they were arguing about.
Finally, their yelling ceased as someone entered the throne room. She looked as though she had just woken up, with her disheveled hair and thick nightdress, but she held herself with more regality and command than Javi had ever seen in a Royal. When she appeared, the guards on either side of the door bowed hastily. Even Lorena stepped aside and bowed to her. As the lady got closer, Javi could finally recognize his baby sister, who had the most exhausted and depressed face in the room.
“Elisabete!” her father said. “You should be resting.”
“It’s hard to sleep when you’re all barking like dogs.”
Her voice had lost its youthful enthusiasm, to Javi’s dismay. She sounded too much like their mother. The king bowed his head in regret.
“So sorry, my dear. How is the baby?”
“Sleeping, thankfully. I wish you would go and argue in the garden, if you insist on it.”
“You should be more involved in our arguments,” Lorena said. “The kingdom will go to your son, unless that husband of yours forbids it.”
“We wouldn’t have a kingdom if it weren’t for Mateo.” Elisabete crossed her arms. “I had hoped that your intellect would grow in exchange for your lack of a husband.”
“Elisabete,” their father said, “be gentle with her, please. Neither of you are in any shape to fight.”
Lorena clenched her fist. “We’re not dolls, Father! If she wants to fight, then let us fight!”
Elisabete shook her head. “This is why you were always unfit for the throne. You let your anger consume you.”
“And you’re any better? You won’t even look at your kingdom!”
“This land shouldn’t have fallen to either of us. Only one of our siblings truly deserved the throne.”
Javi held back a shuddery breath, and Alex took his hand. The rest of the family grew quiet, including Lorena, who stared at the floor guiltily.
“Lisa… I miss him, too. I’m sure Ezra would be proud of you.”
Elisabete looked carefully at her entire family before speaking again, coldly and clearly.
“I’m not talking about Ezra. He knew which one of us deserved the throne long before we did. It’s always been Javier.”
His heart swelled in his chest at the sound of his name— his real, honest, wonderful name— coming from his family. Elisabete had remembered it after all these years, and she didn’t hesitate or stumble when she said it, like it was the name she had always known him by. She saw him for who he was, and she still loved him.
Sadly, his joy disappeared as the throne room erupted with a sudden jolt of life from his mother. She jumped out of her seat, as though she were decades younger, with the most vile look in her eyes.
“The nerve of you, Elisabete, honestly! To suggest that our kingdom would do better in the hands of that ungrateful child!”
“All your rule has brought us is useless wealth— more gold to decorate yourselves in. You call for war just to prove you’re still worth something.”
“For once, my sister is right,” Lorena said, surprising both Javi and Elisabete. “We almost lost our home. Things need to change, and you and Papai are not helping matters.”
Their mother stared daggers into her children. “We’ve kept this kingdom running for years without any problems.”
Elisabete shook her head. “Things are changing, mother. This kingdom needs compassion and justice, not your outdated pointlessness. It needs someone like Javier.”
“Don’t you dare mention that name again! It has no place in this family. That wretched gardener filled our daughter’s head with evil.”
Javi flinched and hid himself further behind the column. Alex practically growled next to him as the family bickered, until Elisabete stomped her foot against the hard palace tiles.
“It’s your fault, you wretched woman! You drove both of my brothers to their deaths!”
Her mother raised her finger. “You had one brother.”
“I had two, and they were wonderful brothers… but I have no mother.”
Elisabete walked across the room towards the exit into the garden. Finally, her father rose from his seat.
“Elisabete?”
She stopped and looked at him. “We decided on the child’s name. I was coming to tell you.”
They all stood in silence as she stepped into the hall and slowly closed the doors.
“His name will be Javier.”
The throne room was deathly silent. Javi tried to steady the shaking in his chest as he cried. Elisabete still honored him, in the face of the family who had tossed him aside. Even after his assumed death, only one of his relatives loved him for all that he was. Alex held him close as the royal family quietly left the room with their guards.
“Javi,” he whispered, “look at me. It’s over, they’re gone.”
Javi took a deep breath. “I’m so sorry for bringing us here. I thought— I hoped it would be different.”
“I know, love. I’m sorry they let you down.”
He shook his head. “Lissi hasn’t.”
Alex smiled. “She was always a good egg.”
“I need to see her before we go. I need her to know we’re okay.”
“Then let’s go see her. I’ll be right beside you.”
Javi rested his head against Alex’s chin. “I don’t deserve you, docino.”
“You’re wrong, love.” He kissed his head. “You deserve so much more. I’ll find a way to give you that, I promise.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Whoever was tending to the garden in Alex’s place definitely knew what they were doing. The flowers were in full bloom, and absolutely radiant with color. Alex was still the botanical mastermind, in Javi’s mind, but it was nice to see their old garden full of life in their absence.
Elisabete sat on a bench under their old gazebo. Javi’s heart pounded as he approached her, part of him hoping that he wasn’t too unrecognizable to her, and another part hoping he’d look different enough that she’d be happy for him.
“Lissi?”
She gasped and wiped away some tears. As she stood, she studied Javi’s face.
“How do you know that name?”
“I— You won’t believe me, I’m sure, but I know you still remember me.”
“Remember you?”
Before Javi could try to explain, he felt Alex’s hands on his shoulder as he stood beside him. He grinned at Elisabete with a fondness that made Javi love him even more.
“Pleasure to see you again, Your Majesty.”
Elisabete beamed in surprise. “Senhor Whitaker! You’re alive, how did—”
Finally, as she looked at Javi one last time, her confusion turned into recognition… and tears.
“Javier?”
Even though it was a projection spell they were under, Javi could feel the full, warm weight of his sister’s arms around him, and her damp cheeks on his shoulder. He held her close and cried with her.
“They sank your ship,” Elisabete said between sobs. “They never found you.”
“You’ll never believe what happened.”
“Well, you’re standing in front of me with a voice deeper than Ezra’s. I’ll believe whatever miracle you tell me.”
For most of the afternoon, Javi and Alex sat in their old garden, recounting to Elisabete their journey on the run, up until their accidental fall into Paradise. As she listened to the stories of this magical world, Javi began to see the bright-eyed and curious woman he remembered… the one he had left behind.
“So,” Elisabete said, “you live under a king now?”
Alex laughed under his breath. “I’d say he lives under us.”
Javi nudged him with his elbow. “Not in front of my sister, please.”
Elisabete giggled. “An anomalia king, how exciting. So glad there are more of them.”
“Ah, so you’re an anomalia supporter now?”
“You better be, in this kingdom. All thanks to the Cabrals.”
“They’re still around?” Alex asked.
“Very much so. Father tried to wage war on them, and now our army is gone. We almost lost the kingdom that day.”
Javi bit his tongue to stop himself from saying anything that would get the three of them in trouble. First, they had lost Ezra to this pointless war, and now dozens upon dozens of guards followed him to the afterlife. If Javi were still a child, he would have blamed the Cabrals for it all, but he had learned from both Ezra and Gazali that war was akin to a whirlpool, trapping anyone unfortunate enough to stand too close. The Cabrals had merely been trapped in its grip, just as Ezra had. If anyone was to blame, it was the mother and father who had pushed their son into the war’s abyss.
“I had to take matters into my own hands,” Elisabete said, “since Papai only wanted to fight. We called a truce, and now the two kingdoms are one.”
Alex whistled. “No offense, Your Majesty, but how in all hell did your father agree to a truce?”
She leaned in close and whispered to them, smiling mischievously. “I married the Cabrals’ son. He was bewitched by my irresistible charm.”
Javi chuckled in astonishment. “You united the kingdoms through marriage?”
“You always said I’d be a good ruler, right?”
Guilt stung in Javi’s heart as he stared at the grass. “That’s right… I’m so sorry I left you here, Lissi. It shouldn’t have become your responsibility. You were so young—”
He grunted as Elisabete tugged on his ear, the way she used to whenever Ezra said something foolish. Her smile put Javi at ease.
“You can’t apologize for pursuing your own happiness, Javier. We both found something good, didn’t we? It wasn’t a mistake to leave.”
Javi sighed and hugged her tightly. “No, it wasn’t. Thank you, Lissi.”
Elisabete smiled and took both his and Alex’s hands. “Would you like to meet Mateo, and our son?”
Alex grinned. “Yes, please, Your Majesty.”
Javi nodded beside him. “I’d love to see my nephew.”
He took Alex’s hand and followed Elisabete back through the castle, stopping and sneaking along to avoid being seen. Alex couldn’t help but laugh whenever they were squished behind a pillar to hide from the maids or guards. He whispered to Javi, grazing his lips against the tip of his ear.
“Just like old times, right?”
Javi smiled. “I’m glad we don’t have to sneak around anymore.”
“I kind of miss it, actually. We were great at hiding.”
Elisabete tugged on their shirts. “The coast is clear, lovebirds. Don’t get too distracted.”
They kept walking until they successfully slipped into Elisabete’s room. It hadn’t changed from when Javi had last seen it; flowers still lined the shelves and tables, and the corner was full of books that still hadn’t been organized from their piles. A tall, bearded, beautiful man sat by the window with a small bundled blanket in his arms. When he saw Elisabete, his smile lit up the entire room.
“Docino,” he whispered, “he’s so smart. He keeps grabbing my hand.”
Elisabete walked over and kissed his head. “He’ll be a wonderful prince, I can tell.”
“You brought friends with you.”
“Mateo… this is my brother, Javier.”
He had heard his name several times now, and it still filled him with warmth each time. Mateo stood and passed the blanket to Elisabete so he could hug Javi properly.
“I’ve heard so much about you. It’s so nice to see that you’re alive and well.”
“Oh— what have you heard, exactly?”
“Just that you’re the best brother-in-law a prince could have.” Mateo nodded to Alex. “And you left to pursue love and freedom. I’m only sorry our kingdom hadn’t found you before you left.”
Javi glanced at Elisabete, who nodded reassuringly. Mateo could clearly be trusted, otherwise she would never have told him the truth. She approached Javi and held the blanket out.
“Javi, this is your nephew. Javier Ezra Cabral-Álvarez.”
Javi laughed, wiping some tears from his eyes. “What a name.”
He took the blanket from Elisabete and marveled at the small child peeking out from under the bundle. Such round cheeks and shimmering eyes, just like his mother… just like he used to have, as well. Javi laughed to himself and showed the sweet little boy to Alex, who was already crying.
“Look, meu bem, look at our nephew.”
“I see him.” His voice was soft and croaky. “He’s perfect.”
“Alex, what’s wrong?”
“I just— I missed being part of a family, you know?”
Javi kissed his cheek softly. “You’ve always been part of our family.”
Elisabete and Mateo smiled, and for once, Javi felt that his home was complete; he had his sister, his brother-in-law, his darling nephew, and his beautiful husband. He could never thank Gazali enough for giving him this moment with everyone he loved. Javi handed the child back to Elisabete, watching him cling to her sleepily. She looked at peace with him in her arms. Just as he had always suspected, she was as excellent a mother as she was a leader.
Everyone jumped as the door flew open. Alex held Javi behind him when Lorena stepped into the room. Whatever she had wanted to say died on her tongue when she saw Alex, and the man standing behind him. Her face flashed with a dozen emotions; confusion, recognition, irritation… and then nothing, save for the tears running down her face. Javi stepped forward so Lorena could see him better. Finally, after their long silence, Lorena found her words.
“You’re alive.”
Javi let himself cry, too. He stretched his hand out, waiting to see if she’d shake it, only for her to throw her arms around him. Lorena cried into his shoulder.
“We didn’t know— The guards, the fire, we didn’t know— I would have fought them on it, I swear to you—”
“I know,” Javi said. “I never blamed either of you.”
“I should have told you how sorry I am— for not understanding, for not helping you and Senhor Whitaker. I should have done something.”
“You’ve done enough, Lorena. You even recognized me.”
“Of course I did, you fool.” She wiped her tears. “You look just like Ezra.”
Javi smiled and cried some more into her shoulder. “Thank you, sister.”
Lorena stood up straight and approached Alex with a firm outstretched hand. He shook it as gently as he could, though she still flinched at his grip.
“It’s an honor to have you in the family, Senhor Whitaker.”
“Please, Your Highness, Alex is fine.”
She nodded. “Thank you, Alex… for looking after my brother.”
Now, Javi knew, his family was complete. These were the people who loved and respected him. He didn’t need— or want— anything else from his old life.
The three Alvaréz siblings talked and joked for hours, just as they had when they were younger. No one came around to bother them, even as the sun went down. Time felt nonexistent to Javi, but he didn’t mind, at all. He could have gone on forever with his family.
“Javi?”
Lorena’s worried voice drew his attention to his hand, which looked more like a dark mist. Elisabete rose from her seat.
“What’s happening?”
Javi sighed. “It looks like we’re out of time. We’ll have to go home.”
“To that other kingdom?” Lorena shook her head. “Can’t you stay with us?”
“Lorena—” Elisabete took her hand. “They wouldn’t be able to live here. They’re finally free.”
She closed her eyes. “I hate when you’re right.”
Javi laughed with tears in his eyes as he hugged them. “We’ll try to visit you again soon, I promise.”
“You better, or I’ll chase you down.”
Alex chuckled and shook her hand. “Better yet, we could get you guys to live with us.”
Elisabete smiled and bowed her head. “As much as I would love that, we have a kingdom to look after.”
Despite her regal appearance, she still cried like the young girl Javi knew. He held his sisters tightly for one final goodbye.
“I’m so proud of you both.”
Even Lorena was crying. After a few more goodbyes, Javi took Alex’s hand and let Gazali’s magic bring him back home. He was sad to leave his sisters, but he was no longer heartbroken. He knew now that he still had a place in their hearts, and that was the greatest gift of all.
Notes: Short and bitter reflection of Yhwach’s memory.
BLEACH Anime Celebration 2022 - DAY ONE: An Ugly Truth
WHO’S GONNA SAVE U NOW?
Yhwach had never seen his father lose anything until he lost life.
He hung, suspended in amber, being made a corpse. The shinigami monks had twisted themselves in knots as they chanted, mimicking horrible patterns of rope as they called for an Order that burned Yhwach’s ears. Their white hoods hung like slips of paper, prayer written in mosaics of spit.
Their language was garbled nothing, yet their words said in horrible, clear pitch: You Were Wrong. His vision wasn’t peerless. Futures were not smooth stone settled in the stream, but the currents above.
His father groaned above, flattening a solid knot of twenty monks into blood and ash and blessed oblivion. Their fellows stayed unrelenting, swallowing the space in bodies once more.
Another groan, another knot of monks chants slid into howls, hoods lifting to accommodate muzzles and snouts. The little canine bodies slithered in their white robe prisons, useless.
Yhwach, who could barely move his bloody arms to the sky, perceived clearly what would come of his fathers twisting limbs and empty chest.
They would carve him out and keep him aloft, monkeys coveting their reflection of the moon, believing it truly stolen. They would hide his humanity, all the beautiful things that made him father. They would all, everyone, die by his many given Hands.
@
The Shinigami had won, spectacularly, but not in full.
Yhwach and his mother had lived, thanks to father’s death. There has not been enough knots nor swords nor willing bodies enough to take all three of them.
Even with the inexcusable number of allies that had gathered with the shinigami, against father, enough of the kingdom lived to flee.
Staying in the one world, which was no longer just one—but now split in three—his mother part his hair down the middle, kissed his forehead and bid him to kiss her’s.
Unwilling, but being reminded it was for lord father, Yhwach did, his lips imparting the sum of his pained soul.
His lips touched living skin, but he gazed gashes emptying his mothers chest, her own eyes peering deep into the blackened core of her middle.
Falling feeble, he regretted kissing her goodbye, his hand not strong enough to clutch the necklace she’d pressed in his fist.
But he woke resolute, determined; his mother’s being now bolstering his. Her arms a cradle for all that would follow.
He would lead as his father led, give as his mother gave, take as his enemies had. A cast of blinding retribution to overthrow the white robes and garbled chanting that rang in his skull. What is death, if not him?
Yhwach wore the necklace. He slept in starlight and the shaded moon. Unstirring, his parents sat heavy in his soul. He bid them be unafraid.
He prayed for patience, held their weight, and repeated it just for them.
As he sat unmoving, unseeing, unhearing once more: Be not afraid.
As he lost his first revenge, blindly wading in the horrible shadow of his mother’s middle and building his kingdom there: Be not afraid.
As they hung him, suspended in amber, a groaning corpse, he collapsed in their embrace: Be not afraid.
Among the Shadows
Tumblr media
hey there! This is my first attempt at writing a bit of fan fiction. I created my own character that will be entering the ACOTAR world. This starts to take place in ACOWAR, after Lucien is dumped near the wall to aid the inner circle by going into the human territory in his search. It will definitely be an Azriel x character. I would love any constructive criticism as well, as this is my first time writing. This is just a base chapter that is setting up the story. Feedback is appreciated 🖤
Word count: 5,207
Summary: Fleeing from a far off continent, she seeks shelter from her father who is hunting her down. In her final attempt to find a place to call her own, she meets a male who tells her of a city of starlight and a court of acceptance. There she hopes she’ll find something to call home. She did not think that she would find herself willingly knee deep in a war, and even find herself love along the way.
Among the Shadows
part 1
It was upon the back of my beautiful beast that I flew away the tyranny of my father and the kingdom he tried to wed me to. Me and my icy companion, whom I called Steele, flew continent to continent in hopes to find sanctuary. It wasn’t until I was curled up with my dragon, half starved, in some of the coldest woods Steele and I had been in that we met the sweetest male. He had long red hair and an amber mechanical eye. His Fae heart seemed to have almost stopped at the sight of me, or maybe the sight of Steele. Quickly, I struggled but stood with a silver dagger in each hand and my icy beast slinking behind me, her silver eyes waiting for her master to give the command to strike.
“I’m sorry. You startled me, my lady. I mean no offense, but what are you doing here? Do you not know that this is the human territory, they will kill you -“ he cut himself off as he looked at Steele shadowing over me in size, “well attempt to. Alas, it is not safe for you. The war will only make its way here”.
Being tired of running, exhausted from years of endless travel, hunger rattling my immortal stomach, caused a few hot opal tears to run down my cheeks out of my control. He likely saw me as the mess I was. A female of average size, full breasts, grey eyes, dark tangled brunette hair that cascaded down my back, red frost bitten cheeks that were littered with freckles, and completely hollow from the never ending travel and lack of nutrients. The hot tears stung my cheeks. “Oh no, please, I’m sorry” the male began and took a few steps closer before Steele let out a warning puff causing him to stop in his tracks, he looked around to survey the area, “come. There’s a cave in the mountain side near by that should fit your beast. We’ll be safe there for the night”. So I followed the red headed male, Steele trailing behind slinking as close to the floor as she could, to the cave he spoke of. Why I followed, I don’t know. Blind trust. Before I went on the run, it would have taken a lot to trust someone. But after years of traveling from territory to territory, my sense of judgement had to be quick. I had to read people almost instantly, trusting my gut. And my gut said this one, this male, was trustworthy.
Steele managed to lay in the back of the cave well and the male started a fire and laid out his sleep roll before preparing some kind of meat over the fire. I leaned against Steele, allowing the heat of the fire before me and the warmth of my companion at my back to stop the aching chill deep in my bones. The male introduced himself as Lucien, explaining he was just traveling — though I sensed that to be a bit of a half lie. He asked why I was alone and glanced at Steele questioningly but refrained from asking where in the Cauldron I managed to get my hands on a dragon. But my gut told me again, so I listened and decided to trust him.
I was candid with the male, something I had not done since I have been on the run, “I am seeking shelter on a continent far from my homeland. There my father sought to sell me off to a king, to be his bride, as if I was nothing but property. Did not care that I had no feelings for the monster. I could not stand for it and no one would stand with me against it. So, Steele —“ I stopped for a moment to lay a gentle hand on the beasts large snout that lay at my feet, “she and I took to the skies. To find a new place where I would not be sold for what I am”. Tears pricked my eyes but I stilled them and cleared my throat. “I apologize. You just met me. You mustn’t hear the drama of my heart”.
Lucien took a moment to study me. Take in the pathetic waste of a princess I was. What went on in his head was unbeknownst to me but his eyes displayed something softer than pity — perhaps a pained understanding. Amongst the fire light he spoke clearly but with a twinge of concern, “will he come looking for you? Your father? The king?” I nodded, looking down at my hands, quietly answering “it’s why I am here. It is the last place I can think of that they have not looked.”
Why Lucien decided to trust me or to help me, I could not understand. But he began to explain to me a place that would be a dangerous travel in the skies but one that I could get to that I should be able to seek shelter. “They are good people there. They took me in when I gave them every reason to not. Ask for Feyre, the High Lady, and tell her I have sent you. Tell her your story and what has happened to you. There she will give you shelter. There is a war about to break out, no place is safer than Velaris”.
At the next day break I thanked Lucien, gave him all the marks I had left, and took Steele to the skies. Seated in the large opal and black satin saddle that sat upon my dragon’s back, we began the flight. Lucien had not lied when he said it would be a treacherous journey. I kept Steele at a high altitude as he had instructed, as there were supposed armies in a territory that would shoot down any thing that flew. He had told me that they were of the armies from Hybren. A place i was familiar with, one I despised. We flew all day until we made it to the cold mountains that Lucien said bordered the Night Court. It was hours past night fall and per his instructions, we settled in a large ice cavern in the mountain side that was apparently checked frequently by one their general commanders for those who sought refuge. It was not easy to find. Tucked away from sight, but found with Lucien’s detailed instructions. Steele curled up nicely and tucked me in under a wing. It was not often that Steele did this, but my loyal beast could sense the cold in her masters bones. I wore thin fighting leathers of midnight blue and a semi thick silver cloak. Warm enough for a basic chilly day, but no where warm enough for an ice cavern that Lucien explained was on the edge of the Winter Court. Steele might not be phased by the biting cold, but I sure was. Eventually becoming semi-warmed by Steele’s body temperature, I lulled off to sleep allowing myself to rest in the safety of my dragon’s presence.
I awoke with a harsh jolt as Steele’s large body, at least seven times the size of mine, stood to all fours in a defensive stance huffing out warning bellows of frost and sounds of deep warning growls. Quickly jumping to my feet I stepped out from behind my scaled companion with my twin silver, opal, and onyx daggers drawn. At the cavern entrance was a Carmel skinned male with wings of a bat, long raven hair, and seven ruby red jewels adorning his deep black fighting leathers. He let out a deep chuckle at the sight of me and my dragon, “now this — this is a first”.
“I wish to speak to Feyre. High Lady of the Night Court. Lucien sent me.” I let the words spill out of my mouth as if my life depended on it. I no longer wished to act as tough as I have had to for the past four years of being on the run, I let myself sound like a stuttering buffoon. I did not care, I craved sanctuary. The words, for all I knew, would save me from this male killing me.
The male studied me for a long while. As if he was speaking to someone in his mind before he spoke, “Well, beautiful, I don’t see how I can winnow you and your giant beast into Velaris… I take it you and that thing fly?” He had a smirk playing across those lips. Steele let out a deep huff, in response to being called ‘that thing’, that blew the males hair back a bit, causing him to throw his head back and laugh.
I kept my defensive stance, staring at the male. Not knowing to what extent to trust him and definitely not knowing how to respond to his stupid question about my dragon being able to fly. His face seemed to soften under my intense gaze, “I’m sorry. My name is Cassian. Let’s get you to Velaris. I promise you’ll be safe there” as if he recognized how deeply scared and defensive I had been for so long. A simple nod to confirm that I heard the male was all I offered. I was eager to speak to the High Lady, perhaps it would be the only way I could ever be safe. It was my last resort. I had explored all other continents, I was turned away time and time again. This was it.
Steele had to slow her pace in the sky as we followed him, not that it was a bad thing. Steele had been so used to fleeing that it had been a while since we had taken a leisurely ride. It has been so long since we embraced the feel of the wind blowing around us, through my hair. Not looking back and below in defense of what could possibly lurking behind us or tracking us. I have loved flying since the day Steele grew big enough to carry my weight and had trusted me enough to do so. It was considered an honor to have a dragon as a companion. It was down right rare for one to let someone ride on their back as they flew. People in my homeland believed I was chosen, destined even, for something great based on the sole fact that the rare beast trusted me. I could recall the day I found Steele as a youngling like it was yesterday, though it was hundreds of years ago. I had to have been about 15, still a child. I ditched my private maths and language tutoring sessions that followed my physical training. All father wanted was for me to train and learn, something about being the princess of Boulderon, meant that I had to begin all of these things from the second I could talk. And even though I had only been alive a sliver of years compared to everyone else I knew, it did not matter to my father. I never was allowed to be like the other children; never got to fly kites or play at the common grounds. I was always holed up in private sessions with wealthy tutors and caregivers while father was away doing whatever he did as King.
Having ditched my sessions, I strolled along the lake side market. I knew it was not allowed for me to be here. It was where low life fae came to trade and sell goods that were frowned upon or out right llegal. It was where the brothels were located and where most shady fae did any kind of business. Shady business like the illegal sale and trade of exotic creatures. Strolling by, an onyx cloak pulled tight around my body with the hood heavily veiling my face, I noticed a group of males by the creature stall that were shouting prices and profanities. Curious as any 15 year old, I swiftly and silently strode up to the crowd to peak through the gaps of shoulders and cloaks. There, on the top of an overturned wooden barrel was the most beautiful feisty scaled beast I had ever seen, no bigger than a large house cat. It had thick leathery scales of onyx that somehow shimmered with silver in the light. Its wings shone iridescent through the membranes. Its long body smoothed into a perfectly rounded but sharp and pointed head and snout. Small opal horns jutted from the crest of its brow, pointed up and toward its back. Two striking silver eyes were filled with terror. It’s long and thick trunk like tail swung back and forth, swaying two propellers of the same wing material to hit the sides of the barrel. It was nipping and spitting ice at the stall owner who pinned it down by its wings onto the hard wood.
Sadness and anger mixed in my heart faster than anything I had ever felt. Males shouted out how many marks for it, more than one stating that their intentions were to kill it and sell its scales. Quickly I shouldered my way in, to the front of the circle of Fae as aggressively as I could, snarling at them, “enough”.
The males chuckled at me, my small adolescent stature amusing to them. A few even dared to let a wicked gleam enter their dark eyes at the sound of a females voice. One particularly dirty and wicked looking fae turned to me and grabbed at my wrist, holding it high towards his face, sniffing in my feminine sent; “What’s a pretty thing like you doing here” an evil twisted grin on his lips.
My face was still covered by my dark cloak, as I looked toward the ground. Not wanting them to know who I was. But anger began to bubble up in my chest, getting ready to explode at any minute. Dark clouds began to swirl in the previously clear blue sky. Straining through my teeth I spoke sternly, “I suggest you let go. Now.” The male chuckled sinisterly. “Last warning” I bit out harshly. His grip only tightened on my wrist, trying to pull me into him.
In one swift moment I yanked my wrist from the males grasp, flipped him onto the ground, and stood with my boot on his throat. My fathers royal strength shining through my young but built frame. Letting my power shine through, dark clouds swirled deeper, centering above me. Small flashes of lightening flicked above as I pushed my hood off of my head to rest on my shoulders. The rest of the creature stall’s audience had backed away and once they recognized who I was they out right scattered. The stall owner holding the poor dragon down on the barrel frozen in terror. I looked down at the fae male sputtering for air beneath my boot, “next time a lady asks you to let go, I suggest you do so” to add to his fear, I summoned a crack of sapphire lightening to illuminate behind me from above, flashing in the suffocating males eyes. Tears were sliding down his cheeks, whether from choking or the terror — I did not care. “Go,” removing my foot that was pinning him down by his neck, “now.”
The male shot up and sprinted down the cracked cobblestone marketplace that was now abandoned, save for the merchant behind me. I quickly cleared the skies and turned around to face him. “Should I let my father know what is happening here?” I spat as I kicked the man away from the poor creature.
“No, no please” he begged from the ground where he had fallen, “I’ll do anything, Princess, anything”
Reaching out my hand to the dark scaled creature in attempt to comfort the terrified thing was a hopeful wish. Surprisingly so, the beast pressed its snout into my hand and closed its eyes. The dragon clearly had a torn wing from the merchants handling and was severely underweight. It moved and pressed its whole body into my arm, curling its long tail around my forearm. Without hesitating, I scooped up the beast. “Then I shall take this creature as payment for my silence. Do not expect it again. I do not want to catch you selling off defenseless creatures again,” I spit at his feet, “do you understand?”
“Y-yes, princess, my- my apologies” he stuttered as he backed away to get to his feet. I pressed my boot against his chest to stop him from rising and gave him an icy look — a promise that I meant it — and swiftly swept my hood back into place. Tucking the scaled beast into my cloak, I turned and walked down the empty marketplace back to the palace.
I could not have known how close me and the dragon would become. How I would have spent every waking hour of the next few months healing, spoiling, and loving the thing. But that was three hundred years ago. We had grown since then, Steele more than I. Literally, weighing tons and being at least seven times my size. At this moment, as if the male we flew with sensed me spacing out, he cleared his throat.
Cassian looked over his shoulder with a smirk just before we flew over the crest of the mountain. I couldn’t help but stand up as tall as I could in the saddle, taking in the beautiful city below. The port that glistened in the setting sunlight. The streets that were full of glimmer and color. I could have sworn I heard music and laughter from the streets below. Tears stung my eyes as I sat back down in the saddle, ignoring the knowing look the male glanced at me. He flew a little closer toward us, spooking Steele a bit who settled under my hand of reassurance, “I am going to take you to the High Lady. She is in the House of Wind on the mountain. Follow me. Should be enough room for beastie to land!” His wings glided him perfectly into a graceful turn as he flew toward the mountain and the most beautifully large estate I have seen in years.
Steele easily made the turn and landed on the large courtyard platform on the mountain side. From the amount of equipment, I could only guess that it was a training yard. Steele bent herself down, belly close to the ground, wings tucked in and tilted to the side, so that I could easily dismount from the saddle onto the ground. I was a bit sore from the long ride but gave Steele a good pat on the side. I grabbed a few frost berries from the saddle bag and walked over to her head. Steele nuzzled her giant head into my hand as I fed her a handful of the berries and stroked the scales atop her head. Her eyelids closing over her silver eyes in content. They quickly flicked open when she heard the incoming foot fall. In an instant, habit from years on the run, she snaked her tail in front of her master and curled her body around me protectively so that I stood in the center of her large arched defense. Cassian laughed, “that thing is quite the protector”.
A voice of velvet chuckled, “now, Cassian, it’s an honor to have such a loyal companion”. A truly beautiful man adorn in black dress pants and a black shirt, violet eyes, and raven hair stalked into the yard. Turning his attention to me he lowered his head in acknowledgment, “hello. I am Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court. I welcome you to my home. Cassian here tells me that Lucien has sent you our way”.
At the announcement of his title I quickly dropped into a bow at the waist. I have to make a good impression. “Thank you for your hospitality, sir. Lucien told me to speak to the High Lady, Feyre” standing up straight I looked at the surroundings debating what the customs on this continent were. If I should look him in the eye or if that was disrespectful.
“The High Lady is on her way. I assume you are from somewhere far from here?” The high lord questioned.
“Yes, sir” I nodded, looking down to your feet.
“It must be quite the distance. I have not seen a dragon in a very long while” he took a step toward them. I cautiously met his gaze, a stroke of worry leaping through my chest into my throat. As if he could read it on my face he stopped, “May I approach?” Was it normal for a person of such power to be so polite? Respectful? The kings of my home continent did as they pleased with no remorse and little to no respect for women. But this male, Rhysand, he seemed different. As did Lucien and Cassian. So I nodded at the High Lord.
Easy now Steele, I coaxed in my native tongue. She instantly relaxed as I stroked her head. She unwound her body from her defensive circle around me and stood at her full height. Easily towered over us all. Rhysand walked up in front of her and next to me. He did not make eye contact with her. Only looked to the ground and held up his hand.
“So you really do have experience with dragons” I chuckled. Most did not know that you should not make eye contact with them until they have eased into you and accepted you as worthy.
“As I said, it was a long long time ago” he chuckled. Steele stayed standing up tall with her chest puffed out a bit. It had been years since we had allowed anyone this close to us, at least like this. I did not dare let anyone even attempt to touch Steele. I was really unsure how it would go until she suddenly tilted her neck and head down and nudged his hand with her snout. The High Lord rose to meet her silvery gaze and to my surprise, spoke in my native tongue to her thank you friend.
“Wait — how?” I was absolutely stunned. The High Lord remained stroking Steele’s snout as he turned to me. How could he possibly know the language from my home continent. Does he know my father? Will he send me home?
As if he could sense my growing panic, he clarified, “I studied that language as a child. My mother insisted. I immediately recognized it when you spoke. It’s a very old language. Very old. I have not used it since before the 500 year war. I did not think it was used anymore” He smiled warmly, but curiosity flickered in his violet eyes. His smile widened as he looked past my shoulder. I turned to see who it was. Walking in was a beautiful female Fae with hair of bronze and caramel. She wore a black gossamer dress with silver accents among the material. “Ah, finally. The one you’ve been waiting for,” he stepped toward the female and took her hand, placing a kiss on the back of it, “this is Feyre, my mate, High Lady of the Night Court”
Once again I neatly folded into a bow, “an honor to meet you High Lady”. She smiled graciously.
“The honor is all mine”, her gaze turned toward Steele, her eyes lighting up. “Oh my… I - I didn’t know they were … wow”.
Sometimes it still slips my mind how many have not seen a dragon for themselves before. The mere sight of Steele either had people screaming in fear or stunned in silence. And it seemed that the High Lady had chosen the latter. I quickly strode over to the saddle bag and removed a large handful of frost berries before taking them over to the High Lady.
“High Lady, if you’d like, she would not mind a snack. It would definitely get you on her good side” I sheepishly offered, letting out a small chuckle.
“Hey, why didn’t I get that option?” Rhysand groaned in a playful tone.
Feyre cupped her hands together as I dropped the pale blue berries in her hands. Placing my hand in her elbow, I walked her up to Steele who studied the High Lady. “Just hold them up to her, and look down, my love” Rhysand said from behind us. Feyre did just as she was told and Steele quickly accepted her offer and gently nipped up the berries before setting her snout against Feyre’s hands. “Feyre, darling. Look up” Rhysand encouraged her, now standing behind her with a hand on her back. Feyre looked up into the silver eyes with awe and wonder.
Rhysand turned toward me, “I’m so sorry. I believe we were lost in amazement at your dragon and the fact that Lucien sent you, that we did not ask your names” he gave an apologetic look.
“Not to worry, sir. My name is Gabriella and this is Steele” I bowed again, allowing my hundreds of years of royal training to not go to absolute waste.
“Feyre, darling, let us go listen to what Lucien sent Gabriella here to tell us.” Rhysand chuckled at his awestruck mate who was gingerly petting Steele.
Cassian had since disappeared and I followed Rhysand and Feyre through the House of Wind, leaving Steele behind to rest. We entered a sitting room that was warmed by a large fire place. It was adorned in black and silver tapestries, dark furniture, plush black velvet lounges and large extravagant navy rugs. Faelights lit the room along with the glow of the burning fire.
Upon sitting, I began to tell them of my situation and how Lucien found me. “I am Gabriella, princess and heir to a kingdom far off, known as Boulderon. My father, in his final and feeble attempt to unite his territory with a larger one, betrothed me to its King who wanted my… unique power in his blood line,” my blood boiled just thinking of it, “trying to marry me off like some prized mare… to a male who is known to beat, abuse, and murder his wedded females at any inconvenience. All so he could be given a reason to take over all of the land at my death in the name of revenge…” tears threatened to fall but I refused. “The day that my father decided it was set in stone, the day he picked the wedding date, I knew I would not be able to get out of it. Not even my abilities would save me if I remained on continent,” I glanced down at my hands that were folded neatly, tightly, in my lap, “so I packed a change of clothes and took Steele. Fleeing from all I knew…”
Sucking in a breath I did not realized I had needed, I glanced up at the High Lord and Lady. They studied me with eyes that told me they were openly listening to every word that left my mouth. My heart could have broken in two, not a soul has listened to me like this in centuries. So I went on. Explaining the places I had been, where I had stayed, what I had done to survive, what led to Lucien finding me in the woods, what he had done for me. I do not know why I felt the need to spill it all like a babbling idiot but I did.
“And I know it was selfish of me to run. And I don’t know why Lucien took pity on me when he found me cold and suffering in those woods. Hell, I can’t imagine why he helped me, told me of you and this beautiful place. But I am grateful. I expect no hand outs or charity. I will work hard and do whatever it is you need of me” I looked them in their eyes, pleading. I just need sanctuary for once. A place to call my own.
“I am sure we can figure something out” Rhysand stated, turning toward his mate.
“Of course,” Feyre smiled warmly, “You can stay here, in the House of Wind until we figure out what to do”
“Lucien told me you were going to war,” which was probably none of my business, “I have fought in many. I can hold my own and lead many. It would be an honor to defend a Court that has accepted me so readily,” I glanced between them quickly before adding, “even if this is just a place to rest before my next travel”.
“If Lucien saw something in you that made him trust you, you are welcome here for as long as you like,” Feyre spoke calmly, “we shall make up a room for you now. How does the top floor sound? It should have a balcony large enough that can accommodate Steele. I know that it may not be ideal to live up here in House of Wind, but until we can find an apartment or other accommodation for you and your companion, I hope this will do”.
Tears stung my eyes once more. In the years of traveling, and the years of my youth in Boulderon, not one being had ever been so welcoming to me. A single tear of gratitude fell down my cheek. “How can I repay you?” you breathed out in a shaky breath, trying to wrack your brain for anything. But you had nothing. Feyre and Rhysand began to dismiss any need of repayment, seeming to breeze past your offer to fight with them. “Steele is not shy in battle. Please, allow us to fight along side you.” kneeling to the ground on one knee, a custom that in my homeland displayed the upmost earnest intentions.
For a moment it was silent. The High Lord and Lady looking back and forth between myself and each other. As if weighing out the pros and cons. But I were desperate for something, anything that could mean a chance at a new life. A new name for myself. Please. Please let me do this for you as you are doing this for me. A silent plea.
Rhysand was the first to break the silence, “your earnest intentions are what earns you a place in my home. Not a pledge to fight along side us. However, we would be honored to have amongst our ranks.” He smirked and added teasingly, “besides, having a dragon in our ranks could prove beneficial”. That comment earned an elbow to his side from Feyre. He chuckled and continued, “Please settle in for a few days. Join us for meals and then when you’re ready, meet Cassian for training at dawn.” He smiled down toward me kneeling on the carpet, not in a condescending manor but one of acceptance.
“I am excited to get to know you, Gabriella” Feyre hummed as she grasped my hand and tugged me to my feet with a smile.
“Please, Gabriella is the name of a princess far gone. Call me Ella.” I smiled back. She slipped my hand into the crook of her elbow and began to show me around the beautiful estate.
FallenVerse au Masterpost.
Info/timeline(?)
Queen celestia was born from a fallen star, born with the destiny to rule as the sun queen.
Celestia was married to king Sombra many moons ago. She had three children: Luna, Sunset and sunburst.
Luna Was take/raised by Sombra until Sombra disappeared, then celestia took luna back. (She would be around the equivalent of 4 here)
King Sombra would then betray Celestia as he retreated deep into the crystal mountains of the crystal empire.
(Nightmare moon:) Celestia raised Luna to become a powerful alicorn, and as Luna grew older and was able to raise the moon herself, she grew jealous of her mother's power and adoration.
As the days went on and Luna witnessed the kingdoms growth, the ponys of the growing kingdom, she found that the ponys believed the night was poison; which lead Luna to grow even angrier, her magic went unchecked and she used her magic to keep the moon in the sky as she turned into nightmare moon.
Celestia; with tears, used the ancient elements to banish her daughter of the night to the moon, to be sealed for a thousand years.
Even after those thousand years, Celestia still keeps a close eye on Luna, she feels so utterly horrible about banishing her daughter.
(Sunset and Sunburst;) sunset and sunburst born from the ambers of the sun queen, they were born twins, Celestia loved them dearly and did her best to help train and harness their magic together.
Unfortunately sunset got to impatient and wanted to learn more powerful spells, Celestia forbade her from learning any magic beyond her level.
Sunset; unable to quill her curiosity, she snuck into the royal library and stole her mother's most ancient scrolls.
(this would be around the time Luna was still banished to the moon)
When Celestia caught her, she became angry with sunset, she found sunsets magic to be unstable so she banished her daughter to another realm.
Fallen with grief and guilt for having to banish her two daughters, she focused on sunburst, she kept sunburst inside, keeping him at stable levels of magic, but during his off days from school he fell in love with a (somewhat) powerful unicorn (starlight glimmer)
But when sunset returned, full of remorse and guilt, Celestia gladly accepted her daughter's return
Celestia; happy that one of her children had returned, she decided to open a school for gifted unicorns, she had spotted a bright, talented young filly (twilight) but learned she was abandoned and ostrisized for her talent, so she ended up adopting her instead.
Celestias heart grew with fondness for her children, but when twilight reached her "potential" Celestia; saddened, had twilight move up in her study's, and put her in a nice little cozy library in a small town called ponyville-
There twilight found her friends and the elements of harmony, stopping nightmare moon and returning Luna to her original form.
Celestia, proud, her children had come back to her, let twilight stay with her new friends.
She would then help Luna recover and keep an eye on her.
-
Queen chrysalis, once ruler of the forgotten crystal empire; was adored by her subjects, she was nounced as the one of the kindest leaders in the empire, but she fell in love with king Sombra, (this making one of sombras betrayals to Celestia) and married chrysalis. Stealing her empire and forcing her to surrender her subjects.
Chrysalis; saddened by her "husbands" betrayal, ran deep into the woods, she ran as far and deep as she could. Stopping at a lake, she stumbled across a young unicorn (Discord) the two fell in love with each other. She found the unicorn to be a slave to king vorak (a deal he made to save his mother, I'll make a separate post for this) chrysalis, angered by the treatment she saw given to the unicorn by king vorak; used a dark and ancient spell to turn king vorak to stone and steal his warmth/love. The spell turned her heart black and darkened her, turning her into what she never wanted to be, but it was all worth it to save her love.
But chrysalis grew hungry for the feeling vorak gave her, so she turned on her subjects, stealing their love they had for her and turning them into darkened creatures (changelings).
Discord (or at this time known as chembynn) feared that his love was growing too powerful; he found another scroll; the magic; while saving (temporarily) chrysalis; turned his body into something unrecognizable, a creature of pure chaos, a creature of torn harmony.
Discord.
Banishing himself into a void, the magic ended up corrupting his mind and soul, turning him into what he is now.
(until Fluttershy)
(that's everyone for now)!
In the heart of the bustling metropolis of Neo-Johor, a city built upon the ancient ruins of the Malay Kingdom, a new era of technological marvels and historic reverence emerged. This blend of the past and future created a unique tapestry of culture, technology, and tradition.
In the center of this vibrant city stood the Grand Hall of Wisdom, an architectural masterpiece that seamlessly combined the sleek lines of modern design with the intricate patterns of traditional Malay art. The Grand Hall was not just a building; it was a beacon of knowledge and innovation, attracting scholars, scientists, and thinkers from all corners of the galaxy.
At the heart of the Grand Hall sat an extraordinary figure – a magnificent robotic owl named Bintara. Crafted from the finest alloys and imbued with artificial intelligence of unparalleled sophistication, Bintara was the guardian of the Hall's vast repository of knowledge. Its design was a testament to both human ingenuity and respect for the natural world, with every detail meticulously crafted to reflect the beauty and wisdom of an owl.
Bintara perched on a high pedestal, its eyes glowing with a soft, amber light as it scanned the hall. The owl's wings, adorned with intricate patterns reminiscent of ancient Malay motifs, were a marvel of engineering, capable of both flight and delicate manipulation of objects. In its talons, it held a scepter, a symbol of its authority and role as the keeper of wisdom.
One day, as the sun cast golden rays through the stained-glass windows of the Grand Hall, a young scholar named Zara approached Bintara. Zara had spent years studying the ancient texts of the Malay Kingdom, fascinated by the rich history and culture that had once flourished in the region now occupied by Neo-Johor.
"Greetings, Bintara," Zara said, her voice echoing softly in the cavernous hall. "I seek knowledge about the ancient Malay Kingdom, specifically the secrets of their advanced maritime technology. It is said that they possessed ships that could traverse not just the seas, but the stars themselves."
Bintara's eyes flickered as it processed Zara's request. "Welcome, Zara. The ancient Malay Kingdom was indeed a civilization of great innovation and wisdom. Their maritime technology was unparalleled, and they achieved feats that remain a mystery to this day. Allow me to guide you through their history."
With a gentle whirring sound, Bintara activated a holographic display. Images and texts began to float in the air, depicting ancient ships, star maps, and diagrams of advanced propulsion systems. Zara watched in awe as the history of the Malay Kingdom unfolded before her eyes.
"The Malay Kingdom's greatest achievement was the construction of the Sang Naga, a legendary ship capable of interstellar travel," Bintara explained. "Powered by a unique energy source known as 'Cahaya Harimau,' or 'Tiger's Light,' the Sang Naga could navigate the cosmos with ease."
Zara's eyes widened with excitement. "Tiger's Light? What is that?"
Bintara's gaze intensified, its eyes reflecting the depth of ancient knowledge. "Tiger's Light was a form of energy harnessed from the rare celestial phenomena observed in the night skies above the Malay archipelago. The exact nature of this energy remains a mystery, but it is believed to be a form of concentrated starlight, captured and stored using advanced crystalline structures."
As Bintara continued to share the secrets of the ancient Malay Kingdom, Zara realized that the knowledge she sought was not just about technology but also about understanding the harmony between humanity and the cosmos. The Malay Kingdom's achievements were a testament to their ability to blend tradition with innovation, creating a legacy that continued to inspire generations.
With Bintara's guidance, Zara embarked on a journey of discovery, delving deeper into the mysteries of the past. She vowed to revive the spirit of the Malay Kingdom, bringing their forgotten wisdom into the modern era and ensuring that the legacy of her ancestors would shine brightly once more in the heart of Neo-Johor.
