Who else here cut their literary teeth on the American Girl Mysteries? There was one Felicity mystery that involved Felicity's friendship over horses with some guy who ended up being a traitor to the Revolutionary cause, and I swear the fact that I reread that book so often explains a lot about the kind of character types I gravitate to (well-dressed villains lmao).

I just thought of this: the Molly doll was relaunched and the 10 Minute Mysteries Podcast series focused on a Molly mystery happened at the same time. So I’m wondering if the next book will be tied to another doll relaunch. According to AG’s own description, each season will be a separate book, so it could theoretically relaunch Kirsten and pair her with her single mystery book. I’m curious if AG will actually do this though, since Kirsten’s mystery is somewhat darker than a book like A Light in the Cellar.

part of my recent grey market order arrived today! this isn’t my favorite seller, as their stuff is just a smidge more expensive, but they had some stuff i couldn’t pass up the chance to get.

i got joss’ surfboard, some hair clips and a swimsuit for nanea, a shirt for luciana, some rings, some costume swords (they’re a little short tbh - more like daggers), and a lantern which i believe is from a kira set, though i got it to use for my historicals.

speaking of the lantern, it came with a tiny handwritten label that i sadly was unable to translate. if anyone can read this, please let me know what it says! im sure it’s nothing crazy, but im a curious cat lol

I started reading Billy Bat manga by Urasawa Naoki (u may know him as the guy who did Monster) and jesus christ its wild. Absolute experience. Judas and Jesus are in it, so are ninjas, so is lee harvey oswald (technically at least 3), theres a bat thats satire about how evil mickey mouse and disney are, there's lying cartoons galore, there's the civil rights movement, the oppressivr terror of the ku klux klan and the structural damage of segregation and fucked up laws, and the pervasiveness of advertising and the coca cola company ("golden cola") there's real events sprinkled with gratuitious fictional shit about manipulative God Billy Bat (or perhaps "administrator/guide to the human race"), a scroll that could control the world, Fake walt disney has hired killers, the looming brutality of imperialism and corporations buying out poorer areas, killing in other countries and breaking laws and whatever else is needed to acquire what they want, there's a cartoon dog kennedy assasination, a baby kevin inherits the powers of an older kevin, there's ninjas and priests, there's a small town out west full of cowboy larpers who are this comic artists biggest fan club, a secret agent Smith with a heart of gold (one hopes), a teenager named jackie whos seeing visions, there's a good and evil fake "mickey mouse" bat but frankly theyre probqbly both evil cause either way they lie and manipulate to get people to do what they want, judas cameos not only in his jesus arc but as a little kiddo, and like. Im not even halfway done. Einstein JUST showed up.

Since I’m bound to get followers who aren’t aware of the American Girl Podcast that I reference in my header, I should probably make it clear that it is not a reference to the American Girl Podcast Network which was launched in 2022. I have been enjoying the 10 Minute Mysteries podcast very much. It is very soothing to listen to, and Maggie Lawson does a surprisingly good British accent for Emily.

Here is the whole haul from my holy grail adventure and it’s interesting!

First off, Kirsten has a white body and her book does not say “book one”.

Second, all the boxes are plain dark berry™️ and though they have the American Girls Collection tissue they have no stickers on the boxes.

Third, nothing, and I mean not one thing, has a Pleasant Co sticker on it.

Where am I? Oh, fourth, the Santa Lucia outfit is a heavier weight muslin, not the soft fabric I’ve seen before and the candles are wood. The gown is tagged “made in china”.

Lastly, both the Santa Lucia Outfit and the summer outfit have several strips of Velcro instead of one long strip.

The woman I purchased the set from is elderly and purchased it for herself at some point.

So the question is, when do we think this was purchased?
