I finished watching Manifest a few weeks ago, so my comments are probably old but here it is. It’s not a bad ending by any means — but if the original idea was for them to be back to the day the plane landed but make the right choices then why develop all of those relationships in the last season if it wasn’t going to mean much of anything in the finale. It’s like they wanted to give the audience everything and nothing for the last season at the same time. And it sucks.

The first thing, if they wanted Zeke x Michaela to be endgame since the start, why not actually make Jared fall in love with Drea like genuinely instead of relinking his relationship with Mick, making them be happy all of Season 4 but then forcing a Drea pregnancy and ultimately get Michaela to send him away to her? I feel like Drea deserved for Jared to choose her on his own and not because Michaela said not to him. It was so lame to give them a one episode endgame that didn’t feel earned when they could’ve build to that on Season 3/Season 4. I get Mick needed to be with Jared to see what she wanted but it could’ve been done better.

I never cared about TJ nd Olive since it was weird that TJ was 18 and Olive was 12 when they first saw each other. They managed to make their relationship less creepy after the time jump since Olive was a little older and “TJ was mentally still 18” but it didn’t make it less inappropriate. I didn’t care when he left and didn’t care when he came back but I get it since he was an OG passenger but the writers were obsessed with giving Olive a love interest when most of it didn’t add anything to the plot. And at the finale, it was clear that their relationship isn’t happening (at least in a loong time) since Olive needs to be a child, as it was meant to be and in the finale they made it seem like TJ and Violet (Adult Cal!first date) might be a future thing. So, was their romance on Season 4 even necessary? And I didn’t forget the college guy they made Olive date on Season 3 for nothing.

And then there’s the Saanvi and Ben thing.

Since the very start of the series they had such chemistry. And I don’t know if that was the idea or it was just the actors but they got in each other’s personal space real quick. And then they hinted at Saanvi’s romantic feelings for Ben in one of her therapy sessions — but I was still okay with them never crossing that line & keeping it platonic. Then, Grace dies and they still didn’t go there so at that point I thought they were going to keep it platonic but then they did made it canon and emphasized on how strong their connection is to the point they don’t feel it with anyone else — and a physical attraction they themselves are very aware of. And not just them but even Mick notices too. And they act on that attraction. Saanvi is Ben’s intellectual soulmate and best friend, in canon. He would trust her with his life in a heartbeat and viceversa. For about 6 years, they were each other’s confidants. And so, the show makes it canon but then backtracks and goes “but they still love their other partners and would go back to them” and that would be fine since it’s fair but here’s the thing with all that:

In the finale, they landed the day they were all supposed to land but now with some different perspective and experiences to make certain choices about their lives. They [the passengers] got to have and remember those experiences, not the people in their life. Ben, Saanvi, Mick are canonically different people from what they were — which is not true for the people in their life. Grace and Ben were at the verge of divorce before the plane — so magically that’s gonna be resolved now since Ben got to live a life where he loses her but she doesn’t even remember? The issues in Grace and Ben’s marriage won’t exist now that Ben knows Cal will be cured? Okay. Will Alex truly leave her husband and committ to an exclusive relationship with Saanvi? Because that was their issue as well.

And you want to tell me neither of those women will notice that there’s this connection between Ben and Saanvi that seems way too deep for two people that just met on a 4 hour flight? I don’t know about Alex but will Grace not feel threatened by this inexplicable bond and would they ever be able to fully be happy with their partners if they aren’t honest about all the experiences they shared together and some that would even count as emotional cheating? Like, we saw during the finale how Ben was so not ready to lose Saanvi. And it’s not like Saanvi will be away from their new life, she will be Cal’s doctor and will be in their life the same way she was in their old life. Grace and Ben were able to fix their relationship before because the callings were affecting Cal since she understandably didn’t believe Ben at first but now Cal doesn’t remember either. Then, she got pregnant and that gave their relationship a new propose but now nothing guarantees that their relationship will turn out the same way without those heavy circumstances. I’d like to think both Saanvi and Ben needed the chance to be with them the way it was supposed to be and see if it’s actually going to work out but I don’t think it will because 2023 Grace and Alex are still their 2018 selves while Ben and Saanvi are not.

The situation is different from Mick because neither Jared or Zeke have memories of what went down — she’s the only one that got to have a future with both of them and choose which one she wanted. That whole journey allowed her to understand that Jared and her might want different things from life and they would only get marry to fill a void — and she knows there’s other people that will align more with what they’d want for the future. It makes sense that she didn’t went back to what she was going to do before the plane dissapear. So, it doesn’t make sense for Ben or Saanvi to go back to their old life without thinking there won’t be any changes with their entire dynamic.

2. Lu Montesinos, Elite. I mean… she’s my girl. Look at her. My friend calls her Latina Blair Waldorf and she’s not wrong, but Lu puts her own spin on it

3. Margo Hansen, The Magicians. Looks flawless as a student at Breakbills AND as ruler of Fillory. No one looks hotter in an eye-patch

4. Emily Nelson, A simple favor. Mens-wear-inspired fashion has never looked better

5. Holly Golightly, Breakfast at Tiffany‘s. Whether it’s in a kimono and a sleep-mask or in the classic black dress and sunglasses- Holly’s always beautiful

6. Dr. Maura Isles, Rizzoli and Isles. Maura shows up better dressed to a gruesome crime scene than I do to my office job. A+ (if impractical) shoes, too

7. Mabel Mora, Only murders in the building. I love her style as a whole, but particularly the sweaters

8. Cher Horowitz, Clueless. She had a computer connected to her closet that matched up outfits for her! And very successfully, too

9. Michaela Pratt, How to get away with murder. GOAT at the coat game, which works especially well since it’s perpetually fall in HTGAWM-land

10. Drea Torres, Do Revenge. I just love how over the top her outfits are. It was between her and Veronica (I❤️Cami), but V is yet another spin on Blair/Lu

personally I felt the series really was so whacky that the finale couldnt really live up to my expectations. and then I was pretty disappointed with the ending that everything was reset

honestly I love drea and jared together and was dying for them to be a couple for the entire first 2 seasons drea was there so I was v happy that drea + jared and mick + zeke were endgame!! I love jared and michaela together (and the actors are together irl how cute 🥹) but I just feel like drea and zeke are so perfect for them. And I love drea and zeke as standalone characters too lol

I was so happy that cal and olive get their childhoods back but TJ and olive???? violet and cal??? eden not existing???? so sad

Angelina dying was the highlight of the episode honestly. I’ve been waiting for her to be GONE and it HAPPENED

I hope they’ll do a spin-off eventually but idk if that’s just wishful thinking. I would honestly watch anything that anyone from this cast is in though now they’re all so talented

The most frustrating aspect of watching "Manifest", for me, is that...

...you have at the very least two obviously polyamorous characters trying to force themselves into a monogamous lifestyle!

Michaela Stone has genuine romantic feelings and emotional intimacy with both Jared Vasquez and Zeke Landon... But no! She's gotta choose just one.

WHY. THE. FUCK.

Grace Stone genuinely fell in love with another man and moved on after her husband died. But when he miraculously shows up 5 years later, understandingly, there are two people that she's developed romantic and deeply emotionally intimate feelings for suddenly coexisting in her life!

Again, she's forced to choose just one.

What's worse is that this man also became a bit of a father (or, at least, uncle) figure in her daughter's life, and they were forming a family together.

But the man that she fell in love with after her husband went missing is suddenly kicked out of the family just because... the other returned from the dead?!

How is this okay?!

How is this right?!

How can you justify cruelly excluding someone from your life, your heart, and your family just because you have the capacity to also love someone else?!

And how can the guy that comes back from the dead be fine with the idea of putting another human being through that level of rejection, and kicking him out of the family?!

Don't get me wrong, I love that show, but every time the inane "love triangle" dramas were showing up on screen, I got so frustrated yelling "PLEASE SOMEONE SIT THOSE RIDICULOUS IDIOTS DOWN, AND EDUCATE THEM ABOUT POLYAMORY!" to the screen!

Everyone says they have a love and hate realtionship with the season finale of Manifest but the only thing I have I'd hate it was such a stupid ending yes I'm happy thru all got their second chance but omg that really wouldn't change anything that they've gone through.

Not only that, but there was so much left unsaid and unresolved. Why is Cal the holly grail? Is it because he's the youngest on the plane and therefore seen as more pure and trustworthy than the adults? Whi gave them the calls? Did any of them ever actually interact with the pirate (can't remember his name) and his men oflr? Did they also get callings about the passengers? What do the peacocks have to do with everything? Who gave them the callings? Will they still have the callings?

And I know most of it is due to Jeff not having the 3 seasons that he needed to do everything but omg I hated it.

Jared and Michaela getting back together jut to go back to Zeke and Drea. Ben and Saanvi which I think if we had gotten those 3 season we would've gotten a more full flesh version of them.

I hated the ending like what happened to the passengers in the original timeliness did the cease to exist, did everything stop. Like Ben fought so hard to save his family just to leave behind the one he had in the original timeliness.

Saanvi getting back with Alex should've never happened not because I love Benvi but Alex literally put Saanvi through hell. She called Saanvi a fling, left her alone to stay with her husband and then in the final episode said she wanted a family with Saanvi as if she doesn't already have a family with her husband. Also Saanvi is literally the side piece!!! Like girl wake up!!

And then there's Ben and Grace when they originally came back they should've never worked out like Grace had changed so much and she was with Danny, he was probably frequently at the Stones house, then uts the fact that they were rocky away before that because of Cal's cancer was pulling them apart. They need couples therapy or at least a little bit more arguing and actually working through things.

I feel like Jeff just really wanted a happy family or well as happy as they could get. But both Ben and Grace are terrible parents they can be so focused on Cal they forget about Olive's own safety and then when it stopped being Cal it was Eden.

Also Zeke and Micahela like it literally made no sense how to did Zeke get out the cave? How did he even know that the would be driving a taxus that night when they came back if he was still in the cave?

I really wished we had gotten thoes 3 more season because I would've loved to see how the passengers got to the detention center. How did the bury Zeke? How Vance got back to working under Zimmer? The passengers adjusting to the DC. How Eagen did they catch Eagen? I know he was in the hospital but he definitely gave the police a hard time.

Them being stuck in the DC was most definitely season 5 of what Jeff wanted to happen, and the rest would've been season 6.

But yeah, the ending was complete bullshit and Netflix should've just renewed it for 3 more seasons.

my thoughts on manifest finale

an end of an era…

It goes without saying big props to all the cast and crew for such amazing storytelling for 4 seasons! Dang I’ll miss the 828 crew! I also want to add that Ben was giving strong manic red string energy for like the first 3.5 seasons so I found him annoying for a lot of the show but I’m glad I was actually able to enjoy his presence this last half lol

SPOILERS AHEAD

RIGHT OFF THE BAT IM SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO EAT MY WORDS! I was convinced when zeke died that it was making room for jared and michaela endgame AND IM SO GLAD THAT IT WASNT! (i'm just going to ignore ep 15-19) and despite the bts romance between jr and melissa, zeke and michaela had much stronger chemistry imo and im soooooo glad they were endgame

i loved the conclusion of the 828 mystery and the callings and everything! when i first started the show i was so apprehensive as a former catholic about the biblical elements (just because i didn't want it to feel like propganda-y) but how they weaved elements of like noah ark's and like judgement day, i was okay with it

as for the whole ACTUAL ending (ie them landing back in 2013), i both love and hate time travel / alt timelines in shows because depending on how they explain it i can't wrap my head around it so hopefully any fellow 828'ers can help me out. so i understand that they were essentially given a second chance to right some wrongs and whatever but like for zeke and michaela, does that mean zeke will never go into the cave in 2017? since you find out the callings were basically memories, michaela tells zeke to "find her" in the divine consciousness so he had that "calling" in the cave - is this just a separate timeline? i'm kinda confused lol any help?

all in all thanks manifest cast and crew for an amazing 4/5 years of hard work!!!

Can I just say Jeff Rake is an absolute genius.

Whether you loved the ending, hated the ending, were ambivalent about it or left feeling confused as heck - viewers and fans of this show are going to be discussing and debating what happened after the final credits rolled for a very long time to come and THAT is what makes a masterful TV show!

i was surprised they gave benvi a canon moment but i was here for it :') that one episode where saanvi kisses him for a cover but ben doesnt even seem phased and only gives her a Look at the end of the episode has very strong "this never occured to me before but actually this makes more sense" vibes from ben 😂 like even his reaction after they kissed for cover felt so platonic (imo) but then later on he realizes that subconsciously he's been heading there this whole time and he has an "oh" moment, but it's more like an "oh, duh" moment

niche but that scene where jared gives joe's kid a hug and then later on in the season when joe is so lovingly showing jared (and the stones) photos of charlie makes me think jared x joe would be cute, esp cuz jared wants kids so bad and he was so good with charlie

EAGAN AND ADRIAN AM I RIGHT????? man i was already thinking they'd be funny to ship together because they're both kinda self-serving disasters that have hearts deep, deeeeeeeeep down, but that moment when they held hands with the necklace between them? and then starting a business together when they land back in 2013??? so many options for them 😂 even just adrian showing up to angelina and eagan being married and being like dude wtf??? with the added emotional plot of being lowkey jealous and not sure why is a really funny fic idea

ultimately, i liked what they did w the ending tho! it was really cute what they did with tj and the girl older!cal dated, esp cuz both their s.o.'s kinda de-aged on them 😂 i also really love drea so im glad they had jared meet her right then, and it was cute how mick searched the cabs for zeke :') and it's not often we see a bi girl end up with the girl in her love triangle so that was nice for saanvi too yayay 🥰🥰
