Haikyu boys when they take a joke/prank too far (Iwaizumi,Daichi)
Tumblr media
Word count: 1.9K
Genre:angst,fluff
AN: In the spirit of April Fools I tried to make my first work based on that I hope you enjoy!! (LOL I can’t actually believe this was the first thing I’ve ever written)
Tumblr media
Iwaizumi:
“Okay so it’s April Fools Day who are we going to prank?” asked Makki “One of the first years?”
“Do we have to prank someone this year..” replied Iwaizumi “so childish”
“Iwa-Chan!” Oikawa said “Don’t be such a spoil sport.”
“Anyways, it can’t be a first year they’re boring to prank a first year coach will be mad at us, we need someone else.”
Just then, you enter the gym, catching their eye as you approach the group sitting on Iwaizumi’s lap “Hey babe, I can still come over to yours to study right?” you ask.
“Yeah of course, practice finishes early so I'll be there before you.” He said
“Alright, see you then bye babe, bye guys” you said, giving Iwaizumi a kiss on the cheek sauntering off and waving at Makki, Mattsun and Oikawa.
“bye Y/N!” They teasingly responded in unison making you laugh.
As they watched you leave, it seemed as if a lightbulb pinged off in all of their heads (besides Iwaizumi) realizing who would be a great person to prank.
After a lot of convincing, they finally got Iwaizumi in on the ‘harmless’ plan, all they needed to do now is wait on your arrival.
You’re finally done with school after a long and tiring day of exams upon exams and wanting nothing more than to cuddle with your boyfriend (after he teaches you Pythagoras theorem of course.) You did think he was acting weird when you met him this morning in the gym and throughout break and lunch but you just concluded that it was because he was having an ‘off’ day.
You reached his house and used a copy of his key that he gave you to enter we just enter houses up in this bitch  calling out his name “Zumi-babe, I'm here...”
“Lets get this shit over with” you said tiredly
Upon entering, you notice none of the lights being on or curtains drawn ‘odd’ you think. You go upstairs going straight to his room hopefully to find your boyfriend in his bed or on his Xbox or something. To your surprise his bedroom door was somehow locked shut (even though not having a lock on his door anyways.) Suddenly, you hear creaks slowly trailing up the stairs and an eerie feeling surrounds you... now you start to feel pretty panicked jiggling the door handle to Iwaizumi’s door as it’s practically the only place you can go.
AN: I hate what I’m writing rn but onwards we right
The footsteps on the stairs start to quicken, and you almost certain that you felt something brush pass your shoulder only adding onto the panic and anxiety that you already feel. Ok, the footsteps on the stairs are basically right near you, so doing the only logical thing you can do you body slam the ‘person’ on the stairs as you motherfuckin should  as tears fill your eyes and you pick up bag bolting through the front door, slamming it shut now in full tears and shakingly scared.
You look behind you and see Iwaizumi’s front door re-open and out comes the ‘iNFaMouS sEiJOh fOuR’ in tears... of laughter. It seems that the boys were in laughing fits that their prank ‘payed off’ getting a reaction out of you. You couldn’t see Iwaizumi’s reaction, but you didn’t care you were hurt, annoyed and wanting to get into your bed.
Once you get home, you decide to block your so called ‘friends’ who decided to make you scared shitless and ignored Iwaizumi’s messages asking “where were you today”.... the AUDACITY.
The next day, the boy’s seemed to realize the consequences of their actions after spending the whole day trying to get your attention only to be straight up ignored. Iwaizumi is immensely regretful after all his efforts to try talking to you were denied, he decided after his practice he was going to get you to talk to him or at least get you to listen to his apologies on what happened yesterday evening.
You left your clubroom and made your way to the school gate to go home.
“Y/N!” shouted Iwaizumi touching your shoulder making you flinch ‘wow did we really scare her that bad?”
“What do you want iwa?” You asked very agitated
“Y/N I just want to apologize for yesterday, since it was April fools day and all the boys really wanted to prank someone and I-it just happened to be-”
“It just happened to be me. Right?” you interrupted “Gosh Iwaizumi, I was really scared.. I already had a tiring day and all I wanted was my boyfriend to teach me the stupid Pythagoras Theorem and cuddle me afterwards, but no you and your friends just had to be dicks for a day” you turn around planning to walk away before he grabs you again
“Wait! Just wait y/n, im sorry and I wont ever prank you like that again” he pleaded
“.. and i’ll help you study?” he added pulling the sweetest face of all time to try and convince you
“ugh, fine stop pulling that face... and you better teach me Pythagoras Theorem” you said rolling your eyes
“yeah yeah whatever you say y/n” he said pulling you under his arm and walking in the direction of his house.
A/N: WOW I DID NOT like the way this turned out but its my first official thing that I wrote hopefully HOPEFULLY MY WORK IMPROVES (I THINK IT WILL) SO please join me on this ‘ride’ in improving my work
Tumblr media
Daichi:
You decided this morning that you were NOT going to participate in your annual April Day Fool’s prank with Tanaka and Noya... only because of your not-so new boyfriend Daichi saying he didn’t need his teammates corrupting you any longer so you decided to not get involved. With that being said you wouldn’t even think of your boyfriend pulling a prank on you so you didn’t think you’re getting pranked today.
In the gym, the boys were doing the usual: Hinata and Kageyama running after eachother, Tanaka and Noya oogling Kiyoko, Tsukishima listening to music, Yama and Yachi going over club schedules whilst Daichi sat with Sugawara and Asahi.
“So are you pranking anyone today?” sugawara asked
“Pranking someone, isn’t that a bit too juvenile suga?” Asahi replied
“Not you silly, Daichi” said sugawara “With Y/N on his arm they always have to stay on eachothers toes right..she’s a ‘jokester’ right?”
“...right?” Daichi hadn’t thought of it that way, he did know of all your joking escapades before you even got together and how you still liked to joke around now as you date.. He didn’t want you to think that you thought he was too boring for you ?
“Ok. What type of prank should I pull on her..”
Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi (who didn’t really contribute to Suga’s scheming) made a plan for you to meet him at the gym locker with the claims that he had a ‘surprise’ for you .. oh how he was wrong.
Daichi: meet me at the gym locker I have something to show you
Y/N: Ok!! I’ll be there in 5 minutes
Daichi was nervous, and that was an understatement he didn’t want things to go left and have you thinking he couldn’t even do a simple prank. Once you got there, he saw heard you talking to Sugawara and Asahi outside the door about him wondering where he was in which Suga told you inside the locker room.
“Hey babe” you greeted “what's the occasion in why we’re in here?”
“I...uh..um I need to get something one second” Daichi spoke quickly and rushed out the room closing the door leaving you confused. Minutes passed, and you were now impatient and kinda scared since the room was dusty, dark and cold definitely not your place to be in. You tried texting Daichi but just your luck you have no service ://
As time went on you tried opening the door but it was jammed shut no hope opening at all you forgot you left your bag outside which of course had your inhaler which did not help the sudden shortness of breath you started to get because of your asthma and claustrophobia. All you wanted was to get out of this room and talk to … Daichi.
Daichi. How convenient that he manage to slip away before the door got closed hmm but he wouldn’t intentionally prank you after ALL the lectures he gave you about not doing pranks this year right?
You didn’t notice how you started to cry and whimper wanting to leave.
On the outside, Daichi heard your cries and ordered Sugawara and Asahi to find the key to immediately get you out which it seems to take a while because Daichi has now stopped hearing your tears making him gulp in fear thinking something bad has happened to you in there.
Sugawara comes to you handing Daichi the keys, his handing shaking as he tries to unlock the door when he eventually does he finds you passed out on the ground of the dusty storage room. Very cliché I know ://
You wake up in the Nurses Office a bit confused on how you got there until your eyes land upon Daichi, remembering how you locked you in the Storage room where you had an asthma attack and passed out. You turned your body away from Daichi not wanting to talk to him right now after the hypocrisy he did.
“Y/N.. Are you alright?” He asked
“Do I look alright?” You responded in a bored tone
“I am really sorry Y/N... I know what I said to you about not doing pranks this year but Sugawara roped me into this and I didn’t want you to think I was too boring for you so I thought doing this prank would make you see me in a different light” he said
“yeah i saw you in a different light alright” you sassed, you then realised what he said ‘too boring’ kind of feeling less mad and more sad that he feels this way “Dai, you’d never be to boring for me … you’re one of the most funness is that a word? guys I've ever met.”
“really?” he asked
“Of course! I’m kind of still mad at you for letting this happen but I do sort of understand why” you said giving him a hug.
You were eventually cleared to go home and as you left the clinic you saw Asahi and Sugawara standing at the door.
“Y/N WE’RE SORRY” they bowed to you waiting on your responses
You chuckled slightly at their cuteness and ruffled both of their hair “all is forgiven, just make sure there’s ‘pranks’ this year “
Which they agreed upon.
A/N: WOW I DID NOT like the way these turned out but its my first official thing that I wrote hopefully HOPEFULLY MY WORK IMPROVES (I THINK IT WILL) SO please join me on this ‘ride’ in improving my work. Feedback is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED and request too since I will literally write whatever...
I may do a part 2 … any particular characters people want?

Note from the creator of this stupid idea:
I loved her first.
“Who do you think it was? Any ideas?”
           “I…” you shrug. “No?”
Gina arches a brow, staring you down from across your kitchen table. “So, that was a lie.”
You can’t stop the laugh that bubbles up from your chest, Gina also chuckling. It’s a relief, the fact that she doesn’t hesitate to call you out. You’re grateful that you finagled her number from Jin, shooting him a text that looked a lot like this:
Me: Burn this after reading
Me: We can’t have any evidence !!
Kim Seokjinnie: ok, hi. I’m not burning my phone weirdo. I’ll just keep it away from Jungkook. What’s up??
Me: Hi. You know what I meant.
Me: Can you give me Gina’s number?
Kim Seokjinnie: Sure, I’ll send you the contact in a second. You two gonna hang out or something?
Me: Hopefully…do you think it’s weird if I just ask her out of the blue? Will she not wanna come?
Kim Seokjinnie: Nah, she’s pretty chill. I bet she’ll come
Kim Seokjinnie: *Kim Seokjinnie shared a contact with you*
Kim Seokjinnie: do you need anything before I burn my phone?
Me: no, thank you!! I owe you one. I’m short on friends rn, hopefully she’ll come over
Kim Seokjinnie: I’m sorry  miss you. We’ll all get to hang out once this is all over, I promise.
“Yah! I really don’t know. I mean they’ve all be so…”
“So what?”
You sigh, sounding like some kid in a dreamy teen movie. “Perfect?”
“There’s no such thing,” Gina huffs, leaning back in her chair. It’s a bit rickety, you’d found it at a yard sale with Namjoon and Jimin. You had just moved into your apartment, and realized that you were a little low on furniture. Together, you’d managed to find three mismatching chairs that made you grin each time you saw them.
It was a little odd at the time, you didn’t want to buy three chairs. Two seemed like plenty. They convinced you though, and looking back you understand why they were so adamant.
Wasn’t it rule #3? “Limit one-on-one interaction”? Three chairs made it so that there was always space for at least two of them.
Suddenly you look at the most average things in your house with different eyes.
Groaning, you rub your hands over your face. You’ve probably smudged your makeup, but you don’t care. It’s Friday night, you can do whatever you want.
“Unfortunately, I really think that there might be.” You let out a dry chuckle. “Seven dates with the world’s most perfect men. I knew I was screwed from the beginning, but this, I mean, I didn’t expect it to go this far.”
“On the bright side, you only have one more to go.” Gina gets up, stretching before moving to put her plate in the sink. She’d picked up some takeout on her way to your house, proving to you that you two are going to be friends for a long, long time.
“I’m terrified because of that. What happens after tomorrow’s date? I know it’s up to me, but I feel like I’m waiting for someone to come tell me the next step.”
Gina hums in agreement, shooting you an apologetic look. “Maybe I shouldn’t have pointed out how flirty they were at the haunted house. You never would have gotten into this mess.”
“No,” you wave her off. “It’s not your fault. Jungkook let it slip anyway, after the door closed on us in the basement. Ugh, I still get freaked out thinking about that. Has that happened since?”
Gina pauses over the sink, back turned to you as she runs her plate under the hot water. After a moment she shuts it off, turning around to wipe her hands off on a dish towel before leaning up against the counter.
“Erm…”
Your stomach drops. “What.”
“It’s just…” she crosses her arms and uncrosses them, unsure of what to do with her hands. “The door is connected to a little button on every employee’s key fob. You know, just for some extra scare factor.”
You meet her sheepish gaze with a blank stare. “So you’re telling me…”
“It’s just a part of the tour,” Gina shrugs. “Wait, what happened? He told you about the pact when the door closed? That’s…that’s honestly not the most romantic setting-”
“No no, we had a little moment after the door closed, and we almost kissed. But he stopped himself and said the I didn’t have to worry about him making a move. When we got out, I asked him why, and that’s when he mentioned the pact.”
“Huh.”
“Yeah.”
“So tomorrow is the last date, correct?”
           “Yup.”
“Look,” Gina notices your worried expression. “Do yourself a favor. Let go. Don’t waste tomorrow thinking about what’s gonna happen next. Focus on the moment, ok? Then how about we get together next week sometime to talk everything over? If you feel like that might help, that is.”
You definitely made the right choice in inviting Gina over. You can already feel your stress levels going down.
           “Ok.”
Tumblr media
You’re up early the next morning, earlier than you’d like. You’re not sure how long you’ve been sitting on your sofa, basking in the golden morning sun and watching the little dust motes float in the air, but it’s certainly been a while.
For once, it’s quiet in your mind. You’re not sure why now, why today. There’s no doubt you’ll be your typical bumbling mess once Yoongi picks you up, but for now all is peaceful.
It’s the last date. Somehow, despite how much you’ve enjoyed these little escapades, you feel relief at the thought. Knowing that you’ve made it nearly to the end without doing anything remarkably stupid (you’re still mortified that you and Jimin got kicked out of that basilica but oh well), and now you’re so close.
For now, you slide your worries under the rug, to be left there for the weekend. You curl your legs under you and lean your head back against the cushions to drink in the sunlight. It warms your skin, leaving you feeling even better than before.
Yoongi is supposed to be here around four. Jungkook had sent you a quick text earlier in the week checking that you didn’t have any plans for Saturday afternoon and night. You didn’t bother to tell him that you always had all day open for them.
While the exchange had been short, you couldn’t help but wonder if he was blushing just as much as you when his contact popped up on your screen. In an instant you were plunged into the memory of clinging to him just outside your front door, Jungkook’s shaky breaths the only thing keeping you planted in reality.
Either way, it was safe to say that you were a blushing mess despite the simplicity of the text. He kept it strictly professional, not once alluding to the events of last Saturday. But you could still hear those words he uttered when he asked if you ever thought about what might have happened if he’d kissed you in the haunted house when he had the chance.
           “I do. Every day.”
Of course you thought about it. You let out an amused huff on the couch, laughing to yourself. Who wouldn’t? But the only thing was the fact that you were thinking about a lot of things. Not just Jungkook.
Or his lips, for that matter.
The couch rustles as you get up, deciding to change out of your red sweatshirt for a green one. You’d been instructed to dress warm, which made you wonder what was planned for today. Outside everything looks warm and pleasant, certainly no need for anything too heavy.
By the time afternoon rolls around, you’re tempted to call up Gina for a late lunch or something. To say you’re antsy is an understatement; you’re positively losing it. The clock on the wall has decided to try its hand at stopping time altogether, and you think it’s doing a pretty good job of it. Every time you glace over, seemingly no time has passed.
This time, you really start to wonder if no time has passed. You swear it’s been stuck at 3 o’clock for a while-
The sound of someone knocking on your door has you nearly tipping over from where you perch trying to grab the clock.
For some stupid reason, you’re frozen to your spot at the far end of your living room. Holding the clock in your hands, you jump a little as a second tentative knock sounds.
To your utter mortification, your mouth opens and you yell out, “Come in!”
You’re still frozen in place when the door opens and Yoongi pokes his head in. His eyes immediately land on you, a sheepish smile that he has a hard time containing immediately breaking out.
“You’re not planning on throwing that at me, right?” He asks, making you glare down at the clock you cling to.
“Oh.” Your knuckles have turned white, and somehow your heart has decided to try its hand at sprinting a marathon. “No. I- it’s broken. I think.”
Yoongi shuffles inside, closing the door gently behind him before wandering over to you. His pale complexion makes the pink on his cheeks easy to spot. Somehow the fact that he’s blushing makes you blush.
“Do you have batteries around here?” He asks quietly, hiding his amusement.
“Maybe in the kitchen?” You brush past him, handing off the clock. “Would you mind getting the old batteries out?”
He mumbles out a sure, plopping down on your sofa while he gets to work on the clock. He’s wearing a similar outfit to you, which makes you smile. It’s not very often these days that he sports a bandana and you wonder if he somehow knew that you love the way he looks in it. His hair looks particularly fluffy as it kisses his forehead, the dark bandana giving him an air of coolness you know you could never pull off.
Rummaging around your kitchen drawers, you pause when you realize what you’re doing. Are you stalling? What’s the rush to fix a clock when you have Min Yoongi in the other room waiting to take you out?
Closing the drawer, you take a deep breath and shake your head.
“Sorry Yoongi,” you call out, trudging back into the living room. “I’m an idiot.”
He looks at you over his shoulder, a smirk tugging at his lips. “What’s your reasoning?”
           “Ouch.”
Yoongi chuckles, setting the clock down on the coffee table before getting to his feet. “Wow, is it just me or…”
You wince. “This got off to a bad start, huh.”
           “Yeah.”
Looking at each other from across the room, you realize just how much you’ve missed him. His witty sarcastic remarks, his honesty.
           Him.
“Can we start over? Go knock on the door again.”
Yoongi’s already on his way, huffing out a laugh as he steps outside. “Alright, see you in a second.” The door clicks shut behind him, and you’re suddenly left with the silence of your house.
As Yoongi timidly knocks on the door, the same sense of calm you experienced this morning settles over you.
The seventh date. No more guessing who’s on the other side of the door, no more anxious glances in the mirror to check that everything looks flawless. It’s just you, Yoongi, and the door between you.
There’s already a smile on your face as you open that door, finding Yoongi standing with his hands in his pocket. He returns your grin, feeling like a fellow conspirator in a heist that has yet to be planned.
“I’m here,” he announces, then adds with a chuckle, “finally.”
“Took you long enough,” you tease, reaching out to grab his jacket and pull him inside. He feigns a horrified expression at your flirty nature, but you just roll your eyes. You’re not sure who wraps their arms around the other first, but the next thing you know, you’re wrapped up in a tight embrace.
I missed you, is what you want to say, but the words get caught in your throat. The lump that’s formed there only grows thicker with emotion as Yoongi’s gravelly voice rumbles against your hair.
           “How’re you holding up?”
Your arms fall around his waist, ever aware of his shoulder. Even though he says he’s completely healed now, you aren’t taking any chances. It’s quiet for a long moment as you struggle to find an answer.
“I…fine. I’m fine.” You pull away and arch an eyebrow at him, pleased to see that is cheeks are still rosy despite the serious look in his eye. “How are you holding up?”
He lets out a breathy laugh, dropping your gaze. “Fine.” Then, when he catches your disbelieving stare, he states as innocently as possible, “What? Aren’t we lying to each other tonight?”
           “You suck.”
“See!” He exclaims as you step out of his grasp to grab your things. “You always do that when you’ve been caught in a lie!”
“Ugh, yah! I wasn’t lying,” you turn around to face him, walking backward toward your room. “I’m fine, really.”
He shrugs. “And so am I.”
You stifle your laughter as you enter your room, grabbing your things and wondering if you should grab a coat. “Do I really need a coat?” You call down the hall.
           “Yes!”
Pursing your lips, you snatch the puffy monstrosity from your closet before turning to head out. Double checking that you have everything you need; your eyes can’t help but glance at the item sitting atop your dresser.
You stick your tongue out at it. A few seconds later it’s tucked safely away in your top drawer and you’re heading out into the hallway. Your stomach does an uneasy flip as you recall the words that are practically burned in the backs of your eyelids now.
           I loved her first.
Yoongi gets up from off the couch, waiting for you beside the door. His dark eyes survey you as you walk toward him. “Good to go?” He asks quietly. Clutching your coat a little tighter to your chest, you nod.
The two of you head out, locking up your apartment and settling in the car that Yoongi drove over. Before long, you’re out on the highway, speeding toward your destination.
Which, you’ve just realized, is still a mystery to you.
“Sooo…” You begin, smiling lazily at Yoongi. You take a moment to admire his hands that are wrapped around the steering wheel. “Where are we going?”
A smile tugs at his lips, but he manages to contain it as he adopts a serious expression. He glances over at you. “We’re going to see the sea.”
“We’re…” you stutter, furrowing your brows. “We’re going to see the sea?”
A breathy chuckle escapes him. “Yeah. But it’s a long drive, so are you down to listen to a murder-mystery with me?”
           “YES.”
Tumblr media
You’re still pretty sure that it was the nosy maid that did it by the time you arrive at your destination. Two hours, one murder-mystery short audiobook, and several snacks later, the sun is well on its way to the horizon when Yoongi pulls off to a sandy parking lot filled to the brim with cars.
There’s tons of people mulling about, several of them appear to be young families who smile fondly as their children laugh and play in the sand. There’s a couple of food-trucks that have popped up on the beach, which sport long lines. Yoongi observes them woefully, seeming to come to some sort of understanding with himself before moving to get out of the car.
“Woah, what’s with all the people? Is this beach always this busy?”
It’s a beach you’ve never been to before, the pristine sand glowing as the sun makes its way across the sky.
“Today’s a special occasion,” Yoongi explains, popping the trunk and rummaging around. “We should probably pick out a spot now before all the good ones are taken.”
You come around to the back of the car to meet him, taking the blanket he extends out to you. Leaving your big coat in the backseat, you hope he doesn’t scold you and tell you to put it on. Right now it’s windy, but fairly warm. No need to look like a living marshmallow just yet.
Before you can inquire after what the special occasion is, Yoongi passes you a couple of water bottles and begins rattling off instructions.
“How about I jump in line to buy us some dinner,” the way he says it so casually has your heart skipping a beat for some reason, “and you head down the beach to scout out a decent spot?”
“But what kind of spot do you mean? Is there a show or something?”
Yoongi pauses, closing the trunk and running a hand through his hair. “Yeah, something like that. A show. Just find a spot that you like, I’ll come find you with our food, ok?”
“Ay ay, captain.” You trudge away, hoisting the blanket up higher in your arms as you begin to look for an empty space. The immediate surrounding beach area appears to be pretty packed, which has you marching farther and farther away from the parking lot.
You grin as a couple of children race past you, giggling as they fly their kites. It’s looks like it’s a little boy and with his younger sister, trying their best to keep their kites afloat in wind. Waving at them, your smile only grows as the boy sheepishly turns away and the girl cheerfully waves back.
It feels like you walk for years before finding a clearing. You were definitely looking for a semi-secluded spot, not too keen on spending your long-awaited date with Yoongi surrounded by strangers. It doesn’t even occur to you to ask someone what the big deal is about today before you’re laying the blanket out. Not wanting to leave anything unattended just for it to blow away, you decide to just be patient until Yoongi finds you.
The sand is warm beneath the blanket as you plop down, resting with your face turned toward the sun as you let out a content sigh. Despite the chill of the wind, the sun warms you right up.
           “Why are you alone?”
Peeking one eye open at the little voice, you’re delighted to see the same little girl from earlier standing a little ways away. She watches you with a meek expression, her kite forgotten at her feet.
“Oh, I’m not alone,” you explain. “I’m just waiting for my friend to come find me. He went to go get food.”
“Oh.” The young girl shuffles her feet. “My mommy says that I need to get all my wiggles out before the show.”
You chuckle. “Really? What show are we watching tonight? Is it Disney?” That would certainly make sense for all of the young families here tonight. Did Yoongi bring you to a beach-front outdoor movie?
“No, silly!” The girl giggles at your questions. “The sky’s coming to say hello!”
           “What?”
“That’s what my mommy said. She said, ‘Young-mi get your wiggles out, the sky is coming to say hello soon!’”
You blink, a little amused by Young-mi’s earnest response. “I see…I didn’t know that the sky was coming to say hello tonight.”
           “Then why are you here?”
“Oh,” you crane your neck toward the parking lot, but it’s too far away to see Yoongi. “My friend brought me, as a surprise.”
“Wow,” Young-mi utters in a reverent tone. “Can I meet your friend?”
           “I don’t see why not.”
With a gleeful shout, Young-mi takes off running, her kite skipping along the ground behind her. She runs toward her family, her mother grinning at the sight before reaching out to pull her into her arms. You watch on with a forgotten smile, wondering for a split second what that would be like.
If you squint, that could be Yoongi sitting beside Young-mi’s mother, throwing his head back with laughter at something his daughter says to him. Their son crouches in the sand nearby, digging around as though searching for gold.
Laying down with a soft sigh, you close your eyes and let the little daydream take over. Here, at the beach. Telling your children that this is where you had your first date; laughing as they make disgusted faces when Yoongi plants a loud kiss on your cheek-
“Did the nosy maid get to you?”
Yoongi stands above you with arms laden with food. He blocks out the sun, the rays coming around to make him appear like an angel. Judging from the delicious smells radiating from the food he carries, you think he actually might be.
“Ah, so you agree that you think it was her that murdered Duke Rittington?” Your voice sounds a little croaky, a testament to the fact that you were just dozing a moment ago. Leaning up to ease some of the food from his arms, Yoongi snorts.
“No. It was obviously the son. Why can’t you see it?”
Rolling your eyes, you pat a spot next to you on the blankets. Yoongi takes the seat without hesitation. “Because, the son seems like too easy of a suspect. Whereas the maid-”
The screams of Young-mi as she rushes toward you cut you off. “You have a boyfriend?!”
           “Oh, no.”
Yoongi leans over, still busy arranging the bags of food – is that a cheeseburger you see? – around the blanket. “Who’s that?” He mumbles.
“I, uh, made a friend while you were grabbing food,” you explain with a small smile.
Now Young-mi reaches your blanket, dropping to her knees as she gazes up at Yoongi with wide, innocent eyes. “Hi, my name is Young-mi and I’m four years old. I’m the second tallest in my class.” Young-mi prattles off information, her large eyes never once leaving Yoongi’s face. “Are you her boyfriend? I hope you’re her boyfriend.”
Yoongi lets out a startled laugh. “You do? Why’s that?”
           “You’re so pretty.”
Now both of you burst out laughing, Young-mi looking utterly confused at your outburst. Yoongi covers his face with his hands, shaking his head.
“What? What’s so funny?” Young-mi questions.
You grin at her. “You think he’s pretty?” The little girl nods enthusiastically. “I do too.”
Yoongi peers over at you at this comment, an unasked question in his eyes. The pink in his cheeks has intensified, as has your own blush.
“Aren’t I supposed to be the one complementing you?” He asks under his breath. You shrug.
“You brought food, so now we’re even.”
Young-mi lingers a little while longer, asking a few questions and drawing in the sand. Munching down on your cheeseburger, you eye Young-mi’s kite.
“Do you mind if I try to fly your kite for a second?” The question is out of your mouth before you can fully process it, but Young-mi looks up at you excitedly.
“Yes!!” She squeals, immediately dragging the little handle over to you. “You have to run really fast, that’s what my mommy told me. Then it’ll fly!”
Glancing back at Yoongi as you clamber to your feet, you don’t miss the fond smile he wears as he watches the interaction take place. You wave at him, heading off down the beach with Young-mi. Once you’ve walked far enough, you wink down at her.
“Ok, you run on ahead and I’ll catch up in a few seconds.”
The girl wastes no time running off, her laughter making you feel lighter than you have in weeks. Once she’s far enough off, you take off after her. She heads straight toward her family, who smile at you as you attempt to get the kite off the ground.
Sand flies up behind you as you race, and you catch a glimpse of Yoongi with his phone out, recording you with a wide smile on his face. The sun has hit the horizon now, a dizzying array of colors sending your mind into a joyful frenzy. Up ahead, Young-mi has successfully made it to her family and is waiting for you to catch up. She jumps up and down as the kite soars above you, the little pinwheels attached to it spinning around in the wind.
A bit more energy overtakes you, and you sprint the last few yards toward Young-mi, unable to stop the laugh that jumps out of you. You feel so free, here on the beach. It’s almost like you’re up there flying with the kite-
           “Wait!”
Someone shouts it, you’re not exactly sure who, but by the time the plea registers in your ears, it’s too late. Foot catching in the hole that Young-mi’s brother had been digging earlier, you feel a twist of pain before tumbling to the ground.
You cry out, barely managing to catch yourself before faceplanting it. The handle from Young-mi’s kite digs painfully into your hand, but that’s the least of your problems at the moment.
Young-mi’s family rushes over to you, but before they reach you Yoongi is dropping to your side.
           “Oh,” you pant, “hi Yoongs.”
“Are you alright?” He’s also panting, and you wonder if he had begun running after you before you even fell, foreseeing your path. “Your foot…”
“I am so sorry!” Young-mi’s mother stoops down on your other side, her husband right behind her. “We completely forgot that Doyun even dug that hole! Can you move? Are you in pain?”
From where you’re laying belly-down on the sand, you can’t help but feel the burn of embarrassment in your cheeks. “I…move? Yeah, I can – ah never mind.” You wince as you attempt to get to your feet only for the dull ache in your right foot to flare up to a fiery red pain. Yoongi immediately reaches out for you, unsure of what to do. His hands ghost over your leg, but retract when you hiss in pain.
“Here, my husband-” Young-mi’s mother points over her shoulder to the man in question. “He’s a nurse. Honey, could you…?”
“Do you mind if I take a look at your ankle?” The man asks in a gentle voice. “Just to make sure nothing’s broken.”
With a nod, you allow both him and Yoongi to help you swivel around to sit the correct way, the blush you already have deepening even more when Yoongi takes up a spot at your back. He gently pushes your shoulders back until you’re leaning into his chest, his arms coming to wrap around you in a protective manner.
When you wince as the man delicately presses down on your already swollen ankle, Yoongi begins talking.
“So, is it just me, or has this entire night been a disaster?”
You let out a choked laugh. “No, Yoongs. Well, maybe it has, but it’s all my fault. I can’t believe I fell, how embarrassing…”
“Oh, are you two out on a date? Er, sorry for prying…”
Both you and Yoongi awkwardly chuckle. “No, no…um, yeah. We are.”
“It’s our first date, actually,” Yoongi adds as an afterthought.
“How exciting! Honey, it’s their first date, did you hear that?”
The man currently inspecting your ankle spares the two of you a kindly glance. “Good for you two. You make a good looking couple.”
“But I swear I’ve seen you before,” the mother comments, squinting at Yoongi. “Where do I know you from…”
You can feel Yoongi tense up behind you, but he doesn’t say anything yet. Instead he takes to finding your hands (which you’ve slipped into your sweatshirt pocket to avoid accidentally punching the man poking and prodding at your foot), eventually curling his hands around yours and steadily unclenching your fists.
“Oh! I know it! Do you do commercials?”
Yoongi lets out an audible sigh of relief, which makes you smile for half a second before a particularly hard prod at your ankle sends you into a tailspin.
“Yeah, I’ve done a few commercials.”
“I knew it. How’s it looking, honey?”
Her husband sits back on his heels, giving you a nod. “Nothing appears to be broken, you just twisted it pretty good. Babe, grab that icepack out of the cooler. You should keep ice on it for a while to counter the swelling.”
A second later you’re handing a little bag of ice. “I don’t wanna take your ice,” you comment lamely. Yoongi chuckles in your ear, pulling back from you and standing.
“It’s just a disposable pack we used for the cooler,” the mother explains, waving off your concern. “No need to worry. We’ve got plenty more. Now, go enjoy your date!”
“Yeah, try your best to have fun. And keep ice on that, on and off for the next couple of days. It shouldn’t give you too much trouble after that.” With a wink toward Yoongi, your temporary nurse gives him a little nudge. “You seem like a good man. I think you’re in good hands here, miss.”
Young-mi bids you a mournful goodbye as you limp away with Yoongi, quickly coming to find that sand isn’t the kindest to people hopping around on one leg. You’ve made it all of four hops while clinging to Yoongi before he stops.
“Hop on my back,” he commands, stepping directly in front of you.
           You blanch. “But Yoongi…your shoulder.”
“It’s fine. Just hop on. You don’t need to limp all the way back to where we’re sitting.” When you hesitate another moment, he looks back at you over his shoulder, his dark eyes sparking in the sunset. “Jagiya.”
Well, the man puts up a convincing argument.
Yoongi crouches down so you don’t have to jump, and with a bit of careful maneuvering you manage to hop onto his back. His hands grip your thighs, hoisting you up a bit higher which makes you gasp a little. Your arms instinctively wrap around his neck, careful to avoid putting too much pressure on shoulder.
Setting off toward your abandoned blanket and food, you can’t help but feel a rise of disappointment in your chest.
“Yoongi?” You mumble, almost sounding like an embarrassed child.
           “Hmm?”
Hiding your face in the back of his neck, you groan. “I’m sorry.”
Yoongi’s steps falter before he continues on, confusion evident in his tone. “Sorry? For what?”
The calm that you felt earlier has completely shattered at this point, and you grit your teeth against the pain in your ankle and the onslaught of emotions that surface. What happened to picture perfect? Why couldn’t you focus?
Other than sitting in the car together, you feel as though you’ve hardly touched base with Yoongi. You haven’t seen the man in nearly two months, and yet here you are distracted as ever. Distracted with your dumb broke clock, distracted with the audiobook, distracted with a kite.
Yoongi stops in his tracks as he feels hot tears against his neck. “Jagiya?”
“I- I’m so sorry, Yoongi,” you blubber. “I’m an idiot! I c-can’t focus on anything tonight and…and now I’ve made everything fall apart by going and getting h-hurt…Yoongi, it hurts so bad. A-and now I’m complaining, which is making everything worse!”
You’re surprised when Yoongi doesn’t say a single thing, instead picking up where he left off as he trudges on toward the blanket. In response to his silence, you continue in your repentant monologue.
“And you waited in line to get us fooood,” you bite down on your lip as you fight the urge to wail. “It’s probably c-cold now, and you waited for s-so long to get it…I feel like such a bad person…if you don’t wanna continue the date, I u-understand. I promise I won’t tell anyone if you want! J-just, I’m so sorry, Yoongi. I’ve completely ruined this, and you drove t-two hours to get me here….” You’ve reached the blanket now, Yoongi gently sets you down, and you hobble on one foot as you half-expect him to grab his keys and set off toward the car. “I just can’t think straight because I read that stupid pact and-”
           “Woah, back up.”
Swiveling around to face you, Yoongi has a frown etched into his face. It makes you want to turn and run, to crawl into a cave to die from embarrassment, but it’s the fact that you can barely manage to stand on one foot at the moment – let alone run – that has you standing still.
“You read the pact?” You blink, hopping a little. When Yoongi sees your struggle he reaches out to you, steadying you. “Here, let’s sit.”
           “W-we’re staying?”
Yoongi gazes down at you, the look in his eyes turning unspeakable soft. “Yes, jagiya. Unless you aren’t feeling up to it anymore?” He looks as though the thought of leaving now pains him, but he waits patiently for your answer.
           “I wanna stay.”
“Good. Now, what’s this about you reading the pact?”
Having successfully turned into a sniffling mess, you wipe away your tears with an angry swipe. It’s time to come clean.
           “I found a copy in Jin’s room-”
“What were you doing in Jin’s room?!” Yoongi whispers frantically, growing more concerned by the second. You wave him off.
“-and I took it! I knew I shouldn’t, but I just wanted to know, you know? So I stole it but that was stupid because then I saw that thing on the back…the little note.” Your words trail off, unable to even say the word lovewhen Yoongi’s looking at you like he’s unsure of whether he wants to laugh or cry.
           “The little…note?”
“Yeah, you know…” You shake your head, moving on. “And since I saw that, I’ve been a mess. Like, an actual mess. I finally called Gina help just to get some help, I needed someone to talk to because you know, I can’t talk to you guys right now which is stupid. But I’m still so lost and I screwed everything up and my ankle hurts Min Yoongi!”
You’ve stunned yourself into silence with your outburst, Yoongi across from you looks a bit lost himself as he sits back on his heels. It’s clear the moment he comes to a realization.
           “The note.”
It’s all you can do to breathe normally and not burst out into tears again. Yoongi’s expression turns mournful when he sees you.
“Oh, jagiya…” leaning forward, Yoongi somehow manages to pull you into his lap. Wrapping his arms around you and tucking your head close to his chest, Yoongi pulls you in as close as he can. He sways gently back and forth, a hand coming up to cup your cheek to make you look at him.
You do so begrudgingly, feeling like nothing more than a large child. However, the moment you meet his eyes, it hits you like a lightning strike.
“Do you remember,” he begins quietly, “that time when your final paper accidentally got deleted? All you had left to do on it was add the reference page. You were distraught, remember?”
Of course you do. It’s the stuff of nightmares. Countless hours spent laboring over a final essay for a class you loathed, only to make a stupid mistake and delete it all. All of it, all nineteen pages were gone in a blink. Your hard work along with it.
“I remember you called me, a sobbing mess. Obviously I thought you’d hurt yourself, the way you were crying about killed me.” He tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear, leaving you completely enraptured in his spell as he continues speaking. “I fought with Namjoon because I needed to go see you, but we had a schedule. It was an interview, I don’t even remember for what or with whom, but I was so angry. I seriously thought I was gonna punch him. Then I remembered he goes to the gym a lot more than me, so I didn’t.”
He manages to make you crack a small grin at that. The sight spurs him on. “But I’ll never forget the sight I saw when I finally made it out to your house later that night. It was like what, two in the morning? No one knew I was even going over, which obviously I did on purpose. I didn’t want to get into another argument. When I walked in your apartment, you were sat at the kitchen table. Remember?”
The memory is vague, tinged with exhaustion and disappointment, but it’s there. You’d set up camp at your kitchen table all day, missing all other appointments just to try to rewrite your paper. You were half delirious at that point, staring at the screen seemed equal to burning at the stake.
“I’ve never seen you look more exhausted in my entire life,” Yoongi chuckles. “I remember I was ready to write the paper for you, I was so sad for you. But when I made it over there, I was floored to see that you’d already written it. Not only that, but you’d written twenty-seven pages. Twenty-seven! Who does that?!” He shakes his head at you, looking absolutely shocked.
“When I asked you why you would do that, you just shrugged and said, ‘why not reach for the stars?’ Then you submitted it, stood up, walked over to me and gave me a hug before going straight to bed. I was so shocked that I just stood there for ages, trying to fathom what had just happened.”
Yoongi sighs, glancing up at the night sky. You admire his jawline from this angle, nuzzling in a little closer to him for warmth. He notices that you didn’t bring your coat out with you, giving you a playful glare before gently rubbing his hands up and down your arms.
“Why did you tell me that?”
You can feel his shrug. “You are more capable, more special than you will ever know. I’ve always kept that in my heart, over the years. Why not reach for the stars? Jagiya…”
Yoongi shuffles a little bit before cupping your chin and pointing toward the horizon where the sun has slipped down. The night sky is becoming more visible by the second, a few stray stars winking down at you.
“Look.” He points at a certain spot in the sky just in time for you to see a streak of breathtaking light.
           A falling star.
In the span of a few minutes, you’re completely speechless as the sky continues to darken and your eyes are glued heavenward. Gradually, more and more falling stars dart across the sky, taking your breath away. As they continue, you recall Young-mi’s words. The sky is coming to say hello.
Yoongi reaches for your hand, easily enveloping it while tracing the outline of your knuckles.
“You,” Yoongi breathes out, sending tingles down your spine. “Are the stars I’ve been reaching for ever since that night.”
Heart thundering against your ribs, you turn to look at him only to find his eyes also trained on the heavens. He speaks the words softly, almost to himself, but you still catch them.
“You’re a star, all the way up there…and I’m all the way down here. Maybe all I’m meant to do is admire you from afar. But for tonight, just for a moment, I’ll hold you.” His eyes slide down to meet yours, glinting with pure starlight. Cold and beautiful. Hurtling toward you, burning up in your atmosphere and leaving you wondering what would happen if you let him in.
If it would lead to utter destruction or the most beautiful thing you’ve ever witnessed.
All words have escaped you at this moment in time, but you don’t feel the need to scramble for some sort of a response. Instead you settle for snuggling in a bit closer, allowing Yoongi to hold you a bit tighter.
Tonight, he’ll hold you close to his chest while what will later be recorded as the most prominent meteor shower in recent history rains down above you. The dark night sky is set aflame with streaks of silver as falling stars graze the earth, sharing a sweet goodnight kiss as they hurtle through space. You marvel at the seemingly never-ending parade the night sky puts on, relishing the way Yoongi keeps your warm as he also marvels at the wonder above you.
There’s no words that are exchanged for the entirety of the meteor shower, the only form of communication found in the patterns Yoongi traces out against the back of your hand and the way he gazes down at you from time to time. As though making sure you’re really there.
It’s a long while before the meteor shower begins to fade, and it’s only when you hear Yoongi softly calling your name that you realized you’ve dozed off.
“It’s over, jagiya,” he coos, brushing hair away from your eyes. “Let’s get you to the car, then you can sleep the rest of the way home.”
Somehow you two manage to make it to the car, you yourself being much more coherent by then due to the sharp pains in your ankle. You realize that you two are some of the few people left at the beach, making you wonder when everyone else left.
Your eyes are half-closed when Yoongi begins to drive away, your hand finding his atop the console.
“You know you don’t need to worry about us, right?” Yoongi mumbles out, glancing over at you with a worried expression. “We’ll support whatever you decide to do. Remember what I said before? You’re the most capable person I know. You don’t need us, not really. Just…be happy.”
You mumble out something incoherent, not completely realizing that he’s referring to the aftermath of the pact until you’re already asleep.
The next thing you know, you’re parked in front of your apartment and Yoongi is grinning down at you from the passenger side door.
“C’mon,” he urges, helping you out of the car. “Careful with the ankle.”
           “Mmm.”
It takes a bit of careful maneuvering to get up the stairs to your apartment, but you manage to make it. Leaning up against the door, you fumble for your keys.
Once you’ve found them, you hand them straight over to Yoongi. You’re far too tired to attempt unlocking your door at the moment. He laughs at your behavior, shooting you a proud gummy smile when he unlocks the door. You don’t even have to ask before he’s assisting you inside, helping you hobble to your room before turning to leave.
           “Thank you, Yoongi. For everything.”
Yoongi smiles down at his shoes. “We’ll swing by tomorrow to check up on you if that’s ok?”
           We.
Your stomach flips to remember that you’re over now with these dates. Now what-
“Or just shoot me a text? I know that might be awkward if we all show up…”
“Thank you. I’ll text you?” You sigh, running your hands over your face. “Yoongi, I…” You trail off, staring up at him from your bed as your mind and heart races. There’s just no words.
With a soft smile, he leans down and pecks your nose. The innocent gesture has your ears turning red, which widens his grin.
           “I know.” He whispers back.
           And then he’s gone.
And you’re left here, suddenly colder than ever.

the wheel of names have spoken.
you know you hated your housecat the second you laid eyes on it when your mum took it home one day from the shelter, saying it was an abandoned cat
abandoned cat your ass
that cat stole your body and turned you into a cat
she stole your human identity
like, girl, wha- the auDACITY for her to have you wake up on her stinky litterbox while she’s havin the time of her life talking to your parents as if you were in that body the entire time
and the audacity of her to go to school and attend your classes, talk to your friends while you’re over there lurking in the shadows, glaring lasers at her from a tree branch
and the absolute audacityyy of her to obviously ogle over a guy from your class when you weren’t even interested in him to begin with
THE NERVE OF IT TO BE ATSUMU MIYA OF ALL PEOPLE
REALLY
why
why him when he has so many fans and the fact that he’s perpetually ANNOYED by his fans like c’mon????????????????????
IN YOU’RE BODY AT THAT
now you’re just extra helpless bc there’s nothing you can do, you have no idea when you’ll get back to your original body, or if you’re able to get back to your original body at all :O
you also dunno who she made a deal with to get to this point in your lives
all you know is that you had a bad dream that morning, and saw a strange cat sayin you had one day
like what the hell is that supposed to mean
“hey what’re ya doin there?”
o wouldya look at that, a wild Miya twins appeared
you didnt notice that you were taking your sweet time contemplating abt life on that tree that three periods have passed and its now lunch break
the twins happened to see you while they were hanging out outside
so you was just staring at them,,, you had no idea what to do while they were there,,,, but it seemed like they were thinkin of saving you even though you’re not in trouble :v
so you was just starin at them
and they were starin back at you
then they left
LMAO
you were gonna brush this lil interaction off until you arrived,,, i mean your body,,,, i mean your housecat in your body
then you got incredibly annoyed cause she was doin so hard so hard to get their attention when she ady got it, and Atsumu was as annoyed as you are sksskkd Osamu didn’t care at all so moving on
and now you got even mroe annoyed cause she was ruining your image in front of your classmates like srsly
so you dipped and decided this is all a fever dream and everything will get better tomorrow with you back in your body and with a good reputation in school as if nothing horrible happened, yes? yes :)
“there ya are”
until Atsumu picked you up from the ground while you were stealthily making your great escape,, then he started acting like he was lookin for you outta nowhere
and Osamu was lookin at him like he was insane sjksd but he figured this is a plan of Atsumu’s so he decided to play along and told your housecat (that was the host of your body) to excuse them bc they had a cat to take care of and that its vvvv urgent
now kitty you is officially adopted by the Miya twins <3
and you didn’t like it one bit HAHAJSJ
you figure this wasnt such a bad thing and you werent allergic to these boys nyway so you let things happen, and let Atsumu scratch the top of your head while they were discussing things about you
:O
they werent talking mad things abt u nonono, they were talkin abt how strange you were acting when you’re literally one of the chill students in school,,, it was as if you were under a spell and suddenly you were in love with them lmao
Osamu proceeds to add the suspicion with the fact that he saw “you” staring at Atsumu during class like someone so lovestruck
both you and Atsumu got goosebumps couple of the year amirite
so Osamu told him that this could just be a one-time thing (like strange conclusion but go off) and/or that you might’ve just confused him as your first crush lmao Osamu was just confusing himself but he was tryin his best to come up with explanations to ur behavior
so classes begin again,,, now Atsumu still dunno what to do with u ogling at him WHILE THE REAL YOU WAS A CAT WATCHING EVERYTHING FROM A TREE
you was def ready to throw hands,, but thats a cat and ur against animal cruelty,,,,,,, tho its ur body anyway so whats the diff
meanwhile u coming up with a plan to end your housecat, Atsumu found you sitting on a tree and he was so shocked for his life bc last time he check he put you in a box with kitty snax, inside the gyms storage room, how in the world did you manage to get out from there??
the fake you sees you again while Atsumu was lookin at you from the window, and was enraged bc you’re taking the attention from her... hm
so you decided to face your stupid housecat head-on and get to the bottom of this bs and be grownups tgt bc no way are you just gonna donate your human life to an ungrateful animal
you look for the fake you at the back of the school, and now the Giorno theme is playing in the background sksk
“give me my body back”
“o pls can’t you just give me a one day chance?“
the audacity
“you ady stole it from me and you say this now?”
your housecat was smug enuff to tell you that she had the honors of asking a favor from a spirit cat who was the reason of all this,,, and who has also taken a liking to your human soul
your housecat just sold your human soul to a spirit cat
so you just flew in the air to scratch your human face, you didn’t care anymore, its your body, whatever, the one experiencing the pain aint u anyway but your bitchy housecat that your mum seemed to have a deeper connection with than her own child
nyway that didn’t last long cause fake you was screaming help, other students found you two, and they got a hold of you while you were in your feral state and now you were terrified of possibly getting into the animal shelter fr,,,, fake you smirked at this possibility
until sum of ur school’s vball bois saw the commotion too and what do u know, Atsumu says that the cat is his and that he apologizes to the ruckus that the cat has done
then it was your turn to smirk at fake you
so u spend time with Atsumu again for some odd reason that keeps the two of you tgt sweat drops looks away,,, you wonder why your mum’s cat is so attached and/or attracted to Atsumu like this???
you never remember them interacting at all since the very time you see them in the same scene is when you went to have your mum’s cat checked up in the vet and Atsumu was there with their dog too
whats happening
fast forward to dismissal, you’re quite thankful you werent in trouble, same as Atsumu since he managed to tell the other students to not tell anything to the teacher that he has a cat in school kdjsk sum rotten power he holds
but you decided to ditch him again and look for fake you
you found her talking to the spirit cat that she said,, so naturally you demanded said spirit cat to give your body back to you
the spirit cat smiled wider and says that, you haven’t finished your task yet if you want to get back to your original body, you have to wait till midnight
like what in the hell was that supposed to mean, you understood nOTHING
then your housecat goes and says “maybe i should extend my stay in this body, what do you think?”
SIS YOU WENT FERAL there is no way she’s staying in your body while you are sufferin like this, in which you do not deserve. watching your housecat ruin your life like its normal like cmon
“then if you’re gonna stay in my damn body then do it properly! don’t make me look like im a flirt!”
“i was never flirting with anyone!”
“wdym?! you were staring at my classmate the entire time!”
“what was i supposed to do when its what your body felt like doing?!?!?”
...
w hAt
“what’cha screamin at the cat for, y/n?”
ATSUMU JUST ENTERED THE SCENE AS IF HE WAS INVITED AND PICKED THE CAT UP TRYING TO PROTECT IT AS IF WHAT HE WAS DOING WAS SO HELPFUL
“i’m not y/n”
NOW YOUR HOUSECAT JUST ADDED MORE GAS IN THE FLAME
“i’m y/n’s pet cat, that cat is y/n we switched bodies bc y/n has been neglected by her parents ever since i was taken for adoption... y/n has a crush on you so i just reacted the way her body wanted to react around you so i’m sorry i made you uncomfortable”
you couldn’t take the embarrassment anymore and jumped from Tsumu’s hands and ran your way to your house as fast as you can
you thought abt how stupid that was and how stupid you looked in front of him,, like pointing at a cat saying that thats the real you like who in the heaven’s name would believe bs like that
you were beyond embarrassed that you just want to sink into the ground and just disappear from life rn and never see Atsumu again,,, anyone is fine but Atsumu pls for the love of god
“well ofc its a narrower place”
didn’t you say anyone but Atsumu is fine pls for the love of god
“get outta there, i got yer mask”
he placed a mask beside you, so you chomped on that mask and pulled it out of the bush with you,, you see him there crouching down to your smol height, watching you in concern
you try to take off your mask yourself but it isnt working, you try to push your head to make your actual mask stick to your head but it isn’t working. nothing is working so you started crying in meow
now tsumu is just confused there and asked if he can comfort you,,, you glared at him like he was stupid
“yer still a girl yknow, i gotta ask for consent”
how sweet 🥺
he started talking abt how he and ur housecat tried to talk it out with the creepy cat to get ur normal life back bc apparently you never wished for a deal with him even tho u desperately hated ur life at home, all in all spirit cat is a big ass scam, while he was unknowingly scratching the top of your head again but moving on
also that your housecat wanted to apologize to you bc she didnt want to take your life away from u, and that she never meant to hurt your feelings while running his hand down to your back and forgetting that you aren’t a real cat but again moving on
“is, is it true tho?”
?
“ya like me?”
dumass rly asked that while ur a cat lol
“it’s a meow for me”
smoke escaped your nostrils like a bull, the stupid spirit cat was playin games withcha since he ady got exposed for his scams >:O
“ya just spoke”
you left Atsumu there with the mask between your teeths, dragging yourself back home, expecting to probably go back to normal once you wake up,,, but you have your mask back now hm
“don’tcha want sum help?”
k ykno he’s annoying when he wants to be but he literally had no reason to be annoying know i mean pls
“sure i like u it doesn’t m-”
you’re back to normal
“matter”
but wearing what you wore when you went to bed last night, in pajamas with no footwear, on the cold asphalt ground, blushing like a fool out of even more embarrassment, cursing at the spirit cat sum more from the back of your mind
that cat had no right to play match-maker after all that, even if he knew that Atsumu will naturally bring you hope since its night and give you a piggy-back ride since you had no slip-ons, asking for consent as well mind you
no right at all

Friends
pairing: Peter Parker x Fem!Reader
a/n (omg i finally get to do these): hello! i didn't proofread this because i'm about to shower and have hw (it's like 8 pm rn) and so much to do, yet, and i promise one thing; my writing will get better and i just need to get back to writing 😣
Summary: Mj lies, in order to finally get her two best friends to confess to each other (i'll also get better at these😔)
 words: 1.9k
Warnings: maybe some heat at the end
my masterlist
→ → → → → → → →
"Did you already tell him?" Mj asks as she sits next to you, pulling out a capri sun and starting to drink.  You turn around with wide eyes.
"Wha-"
"Tell who what?" Ned cuts you off as he sits next to you, on his other side Peter. Both hoding lunch trays.
"Oh, nothing. 'S just y/n here likes-" You throw an orange on her face.
"No! Nothing," you say, hoping Peter and Ned would not try to make you answer.
"Yeah, just that she likes Brad," Mj winks and turns her head to her book again. You let out a sigh, not noticing Peter's face fall.
"Brad? You mean the Brad Davis?" Peters repeats to make sure he heard right. Smiling unsure you shurg.
"Yes?" You lower your head and start eating again.
You didn't really like Brad, or at least not in that way. He was nice and smart, but never one you could talk to. Not like Peter. Peter was funny, smart and charming. Which made it real hard not to fall for him, considering he's also your best friend and you see each other everday at school and outside of it. You got a friend and him, and he one in you.
Your friendship was always something special for the two of you. You trusted him with your life, just like he trusted you with his. So of course you were hurt that he didn't tell you about Spider-Man, and even more after you found out Ned knew it almost one year before you. What made you feel better was that Ned found out on accident, while Peter trusted you enough to tell you himself. Peter, now, is also hurt and confused that you didn't tell him about Brad. He thought you would and could trust him, with everything you already told him and he told you. Not only that, but he also likes you.
He doesn't want to admit it, but he also has a slight crush on you. He loves the way you get excited to learn new things, or how you're always there to listen to him, be it him telling you what he did on patrol or how much he misses Tony. He loves it when you let out a laugh after he told you a joke he thought no one would like, or how you look so concentraded working in class even thought he knows exactly you don't know what you're doing, and just trying to waste time and make the teacher think you're doing something. And how your eyes lit up almost everytime you get to visit his home, it makes him think about how you're part of the family.
Only Ned knows about it, and probally Mj since she's really observant. Ned had to swear that he wouldn't tell, because Peter knows that it will slipp out eventually.
You two like each other more than just a best friend, but are too obvioulus to notice. Little did you know, Mj knew about your mutual feelings and telling Peter you liked Brad was all part of the plan to make one of you finally confess.
And to this point, Mj seemed to be right.
"Why didn't you tell us you liked him?" Ned asks, whilst being hit on his foot by Peter.
"Well, uh, it's because I just found out," you shrug and chuckle nervously. At their raised eyebrows, you explain it more.
"Uh, I struggles with finding out if I liked this boy for some time and well, I do, and it's Brad," you lower your head again and continue eating your lunch. You had already a feeling that Peter didn't like you like that, you didn't need him to be disgusted by the fact that you 'like' Brad, too.
Later that day, after chemistry, the four of you walked home. Since aunt May won't be home for a week, Peter asked you three to come to his.
You guys go into his room and sit on his bed, thinking about what movie you'll watch.
"The Maze Runner!" Mj screams, leanign back until her back touches the wall. Ned's eyes lit up at the mention of one of his favorite movies.
"No! We watched that movie three days ago, already," Peter whines and lays on his stomach on the floor.
"Why? The movie's good and I like the plot," You complain, sitting next to Mj and taking her hand, playing with her fingers. Peter's cheeks flush red as he looks up from Mj's hands, and focused his gaze back to you.
"And with plot you mean-"
"Newt," Ned sighs and gets up. "I'll get the DVD and Mj you go and get some popcorn," he says and walks to the door, but turns around.
"Uh-"
"The movie's in the living room," Peter cuts him off. Ned nods and walks away.
You exhale and look down at Peter, who has his chin rested on his palm on the floor. You focus your gaze on him. His brown and soft curls fall that cover his forhead, him biting the inner side of his cheek, the freckles covering his nose. For you, just everything about that boy is perfect. He turns his head slightly, but enough to catch you staring and a small grin spreads on his face.
"Am I prettier than Brad?" he asks, and for a second you could've sworn you saw an unsure frown on his face.
"Wha-What?"
He stands up from his place and walks to you, sitting on the spot Mj was on, just minutes ago.
"I said, am I prettier than Brad? You said you liked him, but I always catch you staring at me and never at him," he says and takes your hand, playing with it just like you did before. You feel your hand getting clammy and want to pull back. As Peter notices, he pulls his hand back to his lap and looks up at you. You exhale, and by how close he is you're sure he can feel your breath.
"Yeah, maybe it's not Brad who I like," you smile and wonder where this confidence came from. Usually, you would not be so open about this with him. You had feared he would reject you, be embarrassed or even disgusted. And him being your best friend, you could not risk an ending to being so close with him.
"Then who is it?" His gaze flickers down to your lips, and back to your eyes. You shuffle, getting closer to him and locking your hands with his. You two are so close now, that you can feel his breath on and feel your noses touching. Just with a slight tilt of your head, you could be kissing. Your eyes flicker down to his parted lips and then up to his eyes again, noticing a glint of hope swimming in them.
"Would you still be my friend if I told you it was you?" you ask with a tremble in your voice. If he didn't feel the same, this could be over. But you still have some hope; if he didn't then he wouldn't have asked, right? And he wouldn't be so close to you right now, acting like he's about to kiss you.
You're getting pulled out of your thoughts as you feel his hand slip away from yours, and watch him slowly get up from his bed. He doesn't even turn around before he walks to his door. You feel tears building up in your eyes, having known he couldn't love you. He's your best friend, not lover.
You look up with glossy eyes when you feel something weight the mattress of the bed down. Peter's sitting next to you again and taking your hand. He smiles at you.
"You thought I'd let the door open, so Ned and Mj could come in and ruin our first kiss?" and before you can respond, you feel his soft lips on yours.
Your mind is too slow to react and you just feel your eyes widen and sit there, not moving. Peter seems to notice this too, and instantly pulls away, letting go off your hand and looking around in panic.
"I'm sorry! I thought that when I asked you'd-" Right after you realize what just happened, you pull him back in again, getting lost in the way his lips feel on yours. This was your first kiss and you didn't know what to do, but still it felt like your lips were moving in sync and neither of you wanted this moment to end. Too scared that this could be a dream, or a misunderstanding. You've waited for this moment for motnths now, and thought it would never happen after Mj told Peter and Ned you liked Brad.
His hands cup your face, bringing you closer to him if that's even possible. You feel one of his hands trail down, resting on your waist and you decide to also use yours. You hide your hands in his soft locks, playing with them while one of your hands goes to the nape of his neck, pulling him even closer. You two pull away to breath again and stare at each other.
"That was-" you cut him off by kissing him again. This time, you bite his lower lip and slip in your tongue, earning a groan from him. You it up on your knees to get a better angle, and he pulls you in so you're sitting on his lap. Just as you were about to go even further, someone opens the door.
"How long wi- Oh shit! Mj! They are aggressively cuddling!" he shouts and closes the door, running off to find Mj. You quickly break away and hide your face in his neck.
"Ugh..this is why I never wanted them to know I like you," you mutter under your breath, smiling when you feel his chest vibriate with laughter.
"Come on, they will be even worse if we stay in here any longer," he takes your hand and guides you up, kissing your cheek. At the act of love, there is no way you can hide your smile.
You pull him back by his arm. As you do so, he turns around and almost falls, startled by the sudden move. You look at him shyly.
"Uh..we just kissed and...," you start, feeling the confidence from before leaving your body. To your luck, a big grin spreads on his face.
"I like you, and in the 'I really like my girlfriend' kind of way," You're sure you have the biggest smile on your face.
"Well, since I like you in the 'I really like my boyfriend' kind of way, I think we should make it official," Peter bites his lip at your response, being sure that his red face matches his suit.
"Well, then, do you want to be my girlfriend?" Without getting a word out, you jump up and hug him, prepping kisses all over his face. "I take that as a yes," he chuckles and puts you down, whilst walking to the door.
As you enter the living room, Mj and Ned are both sitting on the couch and looking at you two with smirks on their faces. Ned can't help himself but let out a comment.
"Damn, you guys were fast," Mj throws popcorn at him and you and Peter blush even more.
"Just start the movie!"

Taty wakes up on the morning of February 5th and feels the nerves start to hit her. Today, she'll be meeting Cale in person and interviewing him for the podcast. A part of her is afraid things will go wrong once they meet and he won't be interested in her anymore. While the other part of her knows that Cale is too nice of a person to ever break her heart like that. If things don't work out, he'll be nice and respectful about it.
In preparation of meeting Cale, she self-isolated from her family for a couple days and got tested for COVID-19. She tested negative thankfully so she can go meet Cale without putting him in danger.
She brushes her teeth and has breakfast as she prepares herself mentally for the podcast. She writes down her questions and her intro, so that she doesn't forget anything that she wants to say and ask. After breakfast she showers and changes into a comfy, warm outfit to withstand the cold of New England winter. She knows the high is only gonna be 37 and with the wind in the city of Boston, it's gonna be way worse.
She loads her car up with all her equipment and starts making the trip towards Boston. She decides to make a trip to her Aunt's apartment in Roxbury, which is on the outskirts of the city. She parks her car inside the community and makes her way into the apartment, since her Aunt always leaves her door open.
"'Cion Tia! (Blessings, Auntie)" she smiles, greeting her Aunt Leo who's in the kitchen making food.
"Dios te bendiga, mi'ja! Que haces aqui? (May God bless you, honey! What are you doing here?) " her aunt asks, as she stands in front of the stove.
"Voy hacer una entrevista con un jugador de hockey (I'm interviewing a hockey player)" she explains, not wanting to mention that she's sort of seeing that player.
"Que bueno mi'ja! ¡Me alegro! Yo se que todo va salir bien porque tu eres una mujer seria y muy inteligente! (That's amazing honey! I'm glad! I know that everything is gonna go great because you're a serious and intelligent woman!" her aunt cries out.
"Gracias Tia! Y Cola y Nine? Thank you Auntie! Where's Cola and Nine?" she asks, referring to another aunt and uncle.
"Nine está trabajando y Cola salió con Frank y Bernardo a ayudar alguien con un trabajito. (Nine's working and Cola went out with Frank and Bernardo to help someone out with a small job," her aunt explains.
"Bueno, yo vine aquí solamente para verte y saludarte. Me voy a quedar en un hotel esta noche y voy a regresar a casa mañana. (Well, I came here only to see you and greet you. I'm staying at a hotel tonight and I'm going back home tomorrow)" she explains.
"Quédate aquí por un rato más. Ya la comida está lista como en 15 minutos. (Stay here for a little longer. The food will be ready in like 15 minutes)" her aunt explains.
"Tengo planes con el jugador pero no diga nada a Mami por favor (I have plans with the player but don't say anything to Mami please)" she pleads.
"Oh ya veo. No le digo nada, mi'ja (Oh, now I see. I won't tell her anything, honey)" her aunt replies, nodding her head.
"Gracias Tia! Dale saludos a Cola, Nine, Frank y Bernardo. Ojala los veo mañana (Thank you, Auntie! Say hi to Cola, Nine, Frank and Bernardo. Hopefully I'll see them tomorrow)" she smiles, hugging her Aunt.
"Con dios, mi'ja. Tengas cuidado, pero lo disfrutas (Take care, honey. Be careful, but have fun)" her Aunt smiles back, kissing her cheek.
Taty leaves the apartment and gets back into her car to make the trip to a hotel right across the street from the TD Garden. During the drive, she hits some traffic because the city of Boston has awful traffic, but arrives at the hotel in 20 minutes. Workers help her get her stuff out of the car and she gets her car parked by the valet. She makes her way inside the hotel and checks in. The workers help her bring her stuff to her room on the 7th floor. She makes her way inside and unpacks her things, putting them out. She puts her recording equipment out on the table and then heads to the windows to take a picture of her view of the Bunker Hill Bridge and TD Garden. She sends the picture to Cale
To: Cale 🥰
Nice choice for the room. You remembered how I like my city view and bath tubs to take baths in
From: Cale 🥰
Of course I remembered! I remember every single thing you've told me
To: Cale 🥰
How quickly can you get your butt up to my room?
From: Cale 🥰
I'm in Mikko's room rn with the guys but I can make up an excuse and disappear
To: Cale 🥰
I want to order room service and then interview you
From: Cale 🥰
Alright I'll be there in a few
She looks at herself in the mirror, making sure she looks good. She realizes how dumb it is for her to stress over her looks when Cale has literally seen her looking gross with no makeup on and her hair looking a whole ass mess.
She goes on her phone and tries to calm down her nerves. After a few minutes, she hears a knock on her door. She goes up to the door and opens it, meeting Cale who's dressed in an Avs sweatshirt and sweatpants. She pulls him in and closes the door shut right away, so that no one can see.
He lifts her up for a hug and she wraps her legs around him, her tiny frame wrapping around him tightly. They embrace each other for a few moments before putting her back down.
"So you like the room I picked out for you?" he asks, as she leads him further inside the room.
"Yes! It's perfect! It's honestly way too big for just me," she smiles.
She gives him a quick tour of the room and bathroom and he sits down on the bed while she opens the room service menu.
"Do you want anything?" she asks him.
"No, I already had lunch with the team," he informs her.
"Alright," she nods, looking back at the menu.
"Order anything you want regardless of price. It's on me," he informs her.
"Cale, I can't make you spend all this money on me. You're paying for my room and the valet parking, the least I can do is pay you back for the food," she protests.
"I appreciate your concern, but this is nothing to me. Let me treat you," he replies, trying to convince her to let him spoil her.
"You're lucky you're cute," she sighs, giving in.
She calls room service and places her order. As she waits for her order, she turns on the TV and gets on the bed, snuggling into Cale's side. She puts on NHL Network and they watch highlights from the night before, while talking about certain plays and players.
"You know I've never met a girl that I could talk about hockey with like this. Like you actually understand the sport and everything," he comments.
"Well I've been a fan for so long and I've always been obsessed with sports since I was a little kid. It's the reason why I was always one of the guys growing up," she explains.
"And I think it's the coolest thing about you! You're so passionate about sports and sports stats! You're passionate about diversity and inclusion in sports too!" he smiles, running his fingers through her hair.
She feels the heat rise in her cheeks and she wishes he would just kiss her already, but she's too shy to do it herself.
"Well thank you. For a long time, I was embarrassed about how nerdy it is. It's probably why guys never saw me as anything more than a tomboy," she explains sheepishly.
"Yeah well it's their loss. They never got to see how incredible you really are," he smiles, kissing her forehead.
If she could die in his arms right now, she wouldn't mind honestly. She's never felt this sort of warmth and such intense butterflies in her stomach. Her heart feels so full and she finally realizes that this is what falling in love feels like. She had never felt it before but she loves the feeling so much that she doesn't want it to end.
The room service arrives and she brings the tray full of food inside. She sits down on the bed and starts eating as they watch TV and make small talk.
"What did you and the boys do today?" she asks.
"Well we got here late last night, so none of us woke up til like 10am. We all got ready and had lunch in the restaurant. Then we went to Mikko's room to play video games. It's been pretty boring so far, but we're not doing much because of COVID. We can't be going out like we used to," he explains.
"Yeah this virus has really fucked things up here. The governor of Massachusetts still hasn't allowed any fans to attend Celtics or Bruins games at the Garden and I don't know if he will for the rest of the season. Maybe he will for playoffs but I don't expect him to," she explains.
"I get that though. We have to keep people safe as much as possible until we eliminate this virus," he adds.
They switch the subject after that and keep the light conversation flowing until she finishes eating. She then sets her empty tray outside the room and starts setting everything up for the podcast, handing Cale a mic. She grabs her mic and sets it up, hooking everything up to her laptop. She checks the audio, making sure it's all good before starting the recording on her laptop.
"Our next guest is the biggest we've had so far. He was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and was named after a Flames player. He grew up a Flames fan and made a name for himself in the AJHL playing for the Brooks Bandits, where he was named AJHL player of the year. He quickly became a top prospect and was selected 4th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in 2017. He played two seasons at UMass Amherst with the Minutemen, setting school records. He won the 2019 Hobey Baker Award and led the Minutemen to the Frozen Four, where they lost to the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in the championship game. He signed with the Avalanche immediately after the loss, ending his collegiate career and made his debut in Game 4 of the 1st round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with Colorado in his hometown of Calgary. With family and friends in attendance, he scored his first ever goal in the game. He recently won the 2020 Calder Trophy given to the league's top rookie. Welcome to the Ace of Hockey podcast, Cale Makar," she introduces, absolutely nailing the intro.
"Wow, that has to be the longest intro I've ever gotten for an interview, so thank you," he smiles.
"Well you're a young superstar now, so I gotta have the intro reflect that," she replies.
"I don't know if I'm worthy of such an intro, but I appreciate it though," he smiles.
She starts asking him questions about his childhood and what it was like growing up in Alberta, how he ended up playing Junior A instead of Major Junior, what made him go to the college hockey route, as well as what his draft day experience was like. She also asks him what his experience was like at UMass Amherst, and what it was like playing in the National Championship game and winning the Hobey Baker. She then asks him about signing his ELC and what it was like making his debut in the playoffs in his hometown and scoring a goal in his debut. She then asks him about his rookie year and what it was like in his first full season in Colorado.
He also explains how Nate took him under his wing this season and really helped show him the ropes on how to be a pro. He also talks about how great of a captain Gabe is and who are the funniest guys on the team, as well as the pranksters. He also explains how it was like for him personally in the bubble. He also mentions everything players have said and done about social justice change and how important it is to listen and be an ally for minority groups.
They finish up the interview and he helps her clean everything up.
"So, I have a team dinner in like half an hour that I need to get ready for. I promise I will come back afterwards so we can hang out," he explains.
"That's fine, Cale. I'll probably just take a nice bath and relax, maybe listen to our interview. I'll send you the audio and if you want anything edited out, just let me know," she explains.
"Of course, love. I'm not concerned about that honestly," he assures her.
"Go get ready before you're late. Afterwards, you know where to find me," she smiles, pushing him lightly to the door.
"Alright fine. No need to kick me out," he teases, walking towards the door.
As soon as he gets to the door, he turns around and brings her in for a hug, lifting her from the ground. He sets her back down after a few moments.
"Bye Cale. Have fun at dinner," she smiles, kissing his cheek.
"Bye love," he smiles, walking out.
She shuts the door immediately and heads to the bathroom to take a nice relaxing bath in the tub. She turns on the water and gets undressed. Once the tub is filled, she stops the water and throws in a bath bomb. She gets in and immediately soaks in the warmth of the water. She sends a selfie of her in the bath and sends it to her sisters in their Ventura Rodriguez sisters group chat.
From: Katie
Damn how tf did you get a sugar daddy?
From: Kiana
I thought you were interviewing a player today? Is the player your sugar daddy?
To: The Ventura Rodriguez sisters
I don't have a sugar daddy and yes I interviewed the player today. He was nice enough to book me a room at the hotel he's staying at
From: Katie
No way he booked you a hotel if it's just a  professional relationship. He definitely likes you
From: Kiana
So who's the player you're talking to
To: The Ventura Rodriguez Sisters
Nope not telling y'all. He's not my boyfriend so y'all don't got to know
She puts on some soft R&B and lets the music relax her. Before she knows it, she's been in there for an hour and gets out. She wraps her body in a towel and unplugs the drain. She dries herself off and changes into a faded URI basketball t-shirt and boyshorts. She dries her hair with a blowdryer and gets into bed, opening her laptop.
She listens to the 40 minute long audio clip of the interview and loves the interview. The conversation just flows between them and she thinks that her listeners are going to really love it, even though they didn't talk so much about social activism, like she has with other guests on the podcast. Her stomach starts to grumble and she realizes she hasn't had dinner yet. She grabs the room service menu and starts looking, as she's about to call to place her order, she hears a knock on the door.
She gets up and goes to the door. Unfortunately because of her lack of height, she can't see through the peephole who it is. She opens the door and internally sighs in relief when she sees it's Cale dressed in a UMass sweatshirt and shorts. He walks in and hugs her, lifting her up again.
"Do you have a thing for lifting me up?" she asks, as she wraps her legs around him.
"You're just so tiny that it's hard for me not to do it," he teases, referring to her 4'9 height.
“No, I think you have a thing for lifting me up, bud,” she teases back, moving her hands up to his hair.
“Just for that I’m putting you back down,” he replies playfully, setting her back down.
“Well you’re just in time to watch me order dinner,” she informs him, leading him towards the bed.
“I wish I could take you out to a nice dinner for a date,” he sighs, wishing he didn’t have to deal with the league’s COVID restrictions that prevent him from leaving the hotel except for practice and the game.
“It’s okay. You’ll just make it up to me some other time. We can just watch TV while I eat. That sounds like a pretty nice date to me,” she explains, grabbing the phone to call room service.
She calls room service and places her order. She decides to get comfortable and get under the sheets.
“Are you gonna join me?” she asks, referring to the spot right beside her under the sheets.
He quickly gets under the sheets with her and she rests her head on his shoulder. He turns on the TV and puts on NBCSN to watch the Flames play the Sabres in Buffalo.
“Is it cool if we watch the game?” he asks.
“Of course! I love watching hockey even if it doesn’t involve teams I cheer for,” she smiles, resting her head on his chest.
He strokes her back up and down with his fingers, causing sparks of heat to roll up her spine from his touch.
“Who are you rooting for?” she asks him.
“Calgary. I’m always gonna have a soft spot for my hometown team, even though they’re a conference rival,” he explains.
“I like Calgary. They have really sick players, like Monahan, Gaudreau, Lindholm and don’t even get me started on Tkachuk!: she gushes, causing him to stiffen up.
“I didn’t know you liked Tkachuk,” he replies, his voice getting deeper than it already is.
“I mean what’s there not to like? He’s a strong power forward with great hands! I mean that between-the-legs goal last year proved how skilled he is!” she gushes.
“Yeah he’s a great player but I didn’t think you liked him that much,” he replies, sounding bitter.
“No need to be jealous, babes! Tkachuk’s cool and all but he doesn’t compare to you,” she assures him, kissing his cheek.
The food arrives and she goes outside to pick it up. She brings the tray inside and starts eating, while watching the game.
“You want some?” she asks, referring to her pasta.
“No, I can’t eat that. The trainers will kill me,” he replies.
“Who cares! It’s just one bite,” she replies, bringing the forkful of pasta closer to his mouth
“Babe, I’m serious! I can’t eat that,” he groans, moving his face away further.
“Fine, more for me,” she scoffs, shrugging her shoulders.
She finishes eating her pasta and Cale stares at her for a moment.
“You got a little something,” he trails off, pointing to her face.
Her eyes go wide and she takes a napkin, wiping her mouth. She removes the bit of sauce from her lip and puts the napkin down on the tray. He lowers down the volume on the TV and takes her hands in his.
“Can I tell you something?” he asks.
“You can tell me anything,” she replies, feeling her heartbeat start to accelerate.
“I really like you. For the past 5 months I’ve been getting to know you and I believe you’re the most intelligent, beautiful, and caring girl I’ve ever met. I know things aren’t easy with the season going on and you living in Rhode Island, but I wanna try and make things work between us. Will you officially be my girlfriend?” he asks, looking directly into her eyes.
“Yes!” she nods, feeling like her heart might just explode.
“Can I kiss you?” he asks.
“I’ve been wanting you to kiss me all day!” she replies, getting a little chuckle out of him in response.
He cups her face and presses his lips gently onto hers and Taty swears she feels those cliché sparks everyone always talks about. She kisses back almost immediately, not holding back. The kiss quickly becomes more passionate and she’s reciprocating each kiss enthusiastically. After a couple minutes, they break apart.
“You know how I told you I’ve never done this before? Well, I want us to take it slow and I hope that’s okay with you,” she says sheepishly, afraid of rejection.
“We can take it as slow as you want. You control how this goes. I will never push you to do anything you don’t want to do. I like you for you,” he assures her, kissing her knuckles.
She had never known what falling in love is like, but now she does because she’s definitely falling in love with Cale Douglas Makar. She never wants this feeling and she prays to God she never finds a way to fuck this up.
They spend a few more hours wrapped in each other’s arms before Cale announces he has to leave because it’s getting late and he has practice in the morning.
“Bye babe,” she smiles, leading him towards the door.
“Bye princess. Sweet dreams,” he kisses her.
He walks out the door and she shuts the door behind him. She pinches herself, thinking it might be a dream. She’s relieved to find out it isn’t a dream and she finally has a boyfriend for the first time in her life.

Farmer Lan’s Rewatch Guide to The Untamed - Episode 11
Tumblr media
Jiang Fengmian’s palms getting real sweaty rn
episode masterlist here
SPOILER WARNING!
[Jin Guangyao takes his leave and Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng decide to return to the Lotus Pier. Jiang Cheng is worried about being punished for leaving without permission and grouses that he will never stop getting into trouble because of Wei Wuxian. When Jiang Fengmian appears, he seems unusually concerned about whether they encountered any trouble along the way as opposed to whether they stirred up any trouble.]
Differences from the novel:
This pretty much doesn’t happen since none of the events leading up to it happens in the novel.
It’s kind of interesting because I think the show makes Jiang Fengmian appear more disciplinarian than he is in the novel? In the drama, he definitely harshly rebuked Wei Wuxian at the Cloud Recesses and Jiang Cheng mentioned being punished by him. But in the novel Madam Yu was 100% the disciplinarian and Jiang Fengmian either was way too relaxed (with Wei Wuxian) or just didn’t care (with Jiang Cheng).
[Jiang Yanli arrives as well and they all sit down for lunch when Madam Yu shows up. I LOVE how her entrance is accompanied by villainous music. She has a bone to pick with...well, just about everybody. She goes off about the Wen ‘indoctrination’ and the unfairness of Jiang Cheng being forced to go as the heir while Wei Wuxian is given a choice. She doesn’t give face to ANYBODY, picking on Jiang Yanli, Jiang Cheng, and Wei Wuxian in turn.]
Differences from the novel:
This does happen in Chapter 51, pretty much almost word for word. There is, I think, some interesting nuance in her choice of words here that might have been missed if you relied on the Netflix subs (which kind of suck, sorry), so I summarized my thoughts in the overall section below.
[Lan Wangji is ambushed by Wen Chao on his way back, but manages to escape. Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren do the whole “no, YOU leave and I stay” routine and Lan Xichen finally accepts that he must escape with the Lan archives. We watch the Lan disciples get massacred.
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng disclose their involvement with the Yin metal to Jiang Fengmian, and Jiang Fengmian speculates that while the Wen sect won’t come for them YET, the Lan sect is likely in deeper shit than the rest of them due to their involvement with the Yin metal.
The Lan disciples and Lan Qiren convene outside the cold cave, and are joined by Lan Wangji. They make it into the cold cave, but are betrayed by Su She. Lan Wangji tells Wen Xu to leave the Cloud Recesses in exchange for the Yin metal - and gets one of his legs broken.]
Differences from the novel:
We don’t really get to see what happens at the Lan sect during the burning of the Cloud Recesses - we only learn of it through what was recounted by Lan Wangji. He does get his leg broken though.
Lan Xichen claims he cannot leave because he is the sect leader, implying that their father is already dead. However, in the novel, the raid happens when their father, Qingheng-Jun, is still alive. In Chapter 55, while trapped in the tortoise cave, Lan Wangji mentions that when he left for the Wen indoctrination, his father was severely injured in the attack, and Lan Xichen escaped with as much of the sect’s archives as possible,  with his current whereabouts unknown. When Wei Wuxian awakens at Lotus Pier afterwards, he learns from Jiang Cheng that Qingheng-Jun had passed away while they were at the Wen sect. :(
Ambush doesn’t happen, and the Su She/cold cave scene doesn’t happen. In the flashback timeline, Su She really only shows up twice - once as part of the water ghosts excursion and once at the tortoise cave.
[Back at the Lotus Pier, Wei Wuxian demonstrates his archery prowess. Jiang Cheng says, ‘Shooting under their sun won’t be as easy as today” - on the surface a reference to the weather, but keep in mind that the Wen sect’s symbol is the sun, and in Chinese what he said can also be translated as “THIS sun” (这太阳), right after one of the disciples mentions the Wen sect, so it’s literally foreshadowing the eventual Sunshot Campaign (射日).
Wen Ruohan is displeased that Wen Qing lets Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian escape, and she promises that there will not be a next time. Meanwhile, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian are headed to Qishan and Jiang Fengmian sends them off with his famous line, “明知不可为而为之,有所不为,方有可为”.
They arrive at Qishan and we see some familiar faces, but the Lan sect is conspicuously missing. Wen Chao makes his appearance and the Wen guards bring in Lan Wangji, and then demands they surrender their swords.]
Differences from the novel:
I have thoughts about the English translation of the Jiang sect’s motto (“attempting the impossible”), I’ll save them for down below. Also - Jiang Fengmian never says the latter half the line in the novel - only the motto (明知不可而为之).
In the novel, they are practicing archery/fooling around right before Madam Yu shows up to admonish them, and then they learn about the Wen sect indoctrination. So the sequence of events is flipped around.
Since Lan Wangji didn’t have to surrender the Yin metal to the Wen sect in the novel, he just shows up with the rest of the Lan sect disciples in the novel.
This is the first time that we run into Wen Chao in the novel, and he’s flanked by Wang Lingjiao and Wen Zhuliu.
Overall thoughts:
First of all, Netflix’s subtitling needs work. I mean, I know it’s definitely not easy to do any kind of translation, so I don’t want to rag on anyone’s efforts either, but I was laughing at parts of the show. I didn’t have subtitles on when I first watched The Untamed, but I turned it on for the re-watch since it might be helpful to see how my understanding aligns with that of a non-Chinese viewer. It’s not bad, but also missing some flavor.
I first laughed at Netflix’s subtitle usage of ‘myrmidon’ when subbing Madam Yu - it’s a serious SAT word where servant would have sufficed. Madam Yu’s speech is actually pretty much identical to what was in the novel, but I wanted to point out her specific usage of the word ‘household servant/家仆’, and the subtext here that might be missed for people relying on the subs. In the novel, she calls out Jiang Yanli for peeling lotus seeds for Wei Wuxian and says, ‘You’re not a servant!’. In the context of the situation, she is specifically pointing out the difference between her and Wei Wuxian’s status - don’t serve someone who is supposed to serve you, remember your place is higher than his. Keep in mind that Wei Wuxian’s father was a servant of the Jiang sect who eloped with CSSR (whom Jiang Fengmian had fancied). Wei Wuxian’s high status within the Jiang sect is unusual and has always been seen as a symbol of favoritism and therefore a sore spot for Madam Yu. It would have been way more common for him to have a servant/companion relationship with Jiang Cheng (similar to how Jin Guangyao’s relationship was with Nie Huaisang in the drama) since he is after all completely unrelated by blood to the Jiang sect. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian even discuss this in greater detail in Chapter 56 - funnily enough, Wei Wuxian doesn’t mind this term at all, most likely because he was raised more like the child of a sect leader vs. the child of a servant.
(Mini non-related rant: I sometimes see fan discussions that casually glosses over the importance of blood and familial ties in Chinese culture, and it makes me want to tear my hair out, especially considering that the whole ‘blood is thicker than water’ thing is basically a trope in so much of Chinese xianxia/wuxia literature. There’s a lot of “how could you abandon someone who is basically your brother” talk when discussing the relationship dynamics between Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian while blithely ignoring the fact that they are NOT and WILL NEVER BE brothers. Periodt. In fact, they are clearly both deeply cognizant (Jiang Cheng perhaps more so) of their non-familial ties and it is an issue that comes up again and again in their conversations or narrative dialogues. I just hate it when people handwave away their complicated relationship and pin it all on Jiang Cheng as being ‘unsibling-y’. /end rant)
One other thing I’m kind of picky about is the translation for the Yunmeng Jiang sect’s motto - to ‘attempt the impossible’, or ‘“明知不可而为之’. Strictly speaking, I don’t think it’s a great translation of the meaning of the phrase, which is likely derived from the Analects of Confucius (Xian Wen, 38), because it leaves out a big chunk of the meaning. 明知不可而为之 is to do what you SHOULD do, even if it seems impossible and, in the course of doing so, you may find that it wasn’t so impossible after all, but the possibility of success or failure should not preclude you from doing what needs to be done. Lu Xun, one of China’s most esteemed writers, wrote a piece that I think fits in well here - if you see a bunch of people soundly asleep in a room that has no easy way in or out, and you knew they would asphyxiate to death soon, would you wake them? Or let them pass away peacefully in their sleep? (Note: he wasn’t specifically using the example to illustrate this principle, it’s just a story I borrowed that fits in well here)
The argument under the 明知不可而为之 principle would be to wake them. Even though they’ll likely spend their last moments in terror and struggling for air and trying to escape, it is what you should do, even if the outcome is unlikely to be favorable.
Interestingly, it has been used in a much more negative context in the novel. In the novel, the line is often referenced in the light of ‘you knew this would cause trouble and disaster for everyone and yet you went ahead anyway’ - if I were to insert ‘attempt the impossible’ into those situations, it would be really odd.
Lastly, I do love the show’s portrayal of the Lotus Pier! It’s exactly like how the novel depicted it and honestly it still breaks my heart how it was sacked + the changes in the succeeding years as Jiang Cheng rebuilt Yunmeng. I don’t remember if the show goes into too much detail, but in the novel, it’s mentioned in Chapter 86 and 92 that there’s a lot less activity around the Lotus Pier now due to Jiang Cheng’s fearsome temperament. :(
Also straight up I’m gonna say Jiang Fengmian has the best fits in the entire series, how can you not get with that black and purple combo ughhhh

When Dan met Abbey
He’d met her at a random lunch meeting on the Affordable Care Act he’d been forced to attend. She was the arguably the youngest (his junior by at least five years), and the most beautiful woman in the room. Probably the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. Abigail Holland, RN, MSN, CEN. Blonde hair, blue eyes, long legs, the strangest accent he’d ever heard. Not quite southern, not quite west coast Cali girl. She’d been brought in as an expert on primary care deficiencies and for some reason the Senator Feinstein insisted Dan go in her stead, despite health policy being 100% not his area of expertise or interest.
Everyone noticed her pillowy lips but Dan had noticed her smile, the way she tried not to appear intimidated, surrounded by politicians and political players alike. She was clearly out of her comfort zone as well. He didn’t miss the once over McDonough had given her, how it disgusted him a married man could be so blatantly attracted to someone else.
They’d been inadvertently sent to the background of the meeting, clearly not the key note speakers at this particular luncheon.
“Is it always like this?” She asked quietly.
He chuckled. “Yeah, pretty much. I’m usually sitting against the wall though so this is new for me too.”
She smiled, grateful for companionship. “I’m Abbey. You’re Dan Jones. You work for Senator Feinstein, don’t you?”
He gave her a quizzical look. “How did you know? Is it that obvious?”
She laughed and he felt his heart skip a beat. “No, no. I just...I saw you in her office a couple of months ago. Just in passing.”
“Really?” He couldn’t think of a scenario how he could not have noticed her. “Do you know the Senator?”
“Her granddaughter and I were college roommates. We spent many spring breaks at their house in San Fransisco.” Abbey said. “She and my father were on a couple of committees together when she was in the house.”
“You’re Dad is Dr. Benjamin Holland?” He sputtered. “The director of the NIH?”
“Yep.” She said awkwardly.
“I didn’t know he had a daughter.”
She shrugged. “Four boys ahead of me so, it’s not like it’s all that important. Also I’m a nurse, not an MD, so it’s a stain upon the family name to be sure.”
Dan smirked. “Because you’re the ones actually bedside and know what’s going on with the patient?”
She looked at him, shocked.
“My mom was a nurse.” He clarified.
Her powder blue eyes lit up when grinned. “She must be awful proud of you, making it big in D.C.”
“I wouldn’t say I’m making it big, but yes. She’s your typical Jewish mother. Anytime the Senator makes a big move, she’ll say ‘My son did so and so...’”
“Don’t be too humble now, D.C. is cut throat. People might think you have morals.” Abbey said with faux disgust on her face.
“Not a fan of politicians, are you?”
“I have a healthy enough tolerance.” She countered with a wry smirk.
Dan couldn’t help the smile Abigail brought to his face and was going to tell her so when he was interrupted by McDonough calling an end to the luncheon. He lost her through the crowd, heart sinking at the idea he’d have to find some asinine way of contacting her when he felt something slip into his hands. It was a napkin and it had Abbey’s number on it.
She grinned over her shoulder as she walked away, he smiled back.
He’d agonized over how long to wait to call her, it’d been years since he’d dated, well out of the convoluted dating scene of D.C. it was early, almost six thirty in the evening when he finally dialed her number.
“I was beginning to wonder if you’d call me.” She teased. “Hello, Dan.”
“I’d give you some bullshit excuse about being busy with work and not worrying about seeming too interested, but I get the impression lying to you wouldn’t go down so well.” He grinned. “Hey, Abby”
“Am I that easy to read?” She asked with a laugh. “What are you up to?”
“Working, to be honest.” He said dryly. “You?”
“About to leave for work, actually. They’re short tonight and it’s my turn to pull call.” She answered.
“Sorry, do you need to-“
“No, I have a while till I need to clock in. I live around the corner from GW.” She said. “Is it getting late for you?”
“No, technically I’m supposed to be off work and enjoying the weekend but well...”
“Duty calls?” She mused.
“Yeah.” He chuckled breathlessly. “Something like that. Do you work tomorrow night?”
“No. I’m off till Tuesday after tonight, thank the gods.”
“Let’s have a drink.” Dan wondered if he sounded as casual as he hoped he did.
“Alright, when and where?”
“Old Ebbits, eight o’ clock?”
“Sure.” He could hear the smile in her voice and he wonder if she could hear his too.
She wore black slacks that accentuated her slim waist and a black lace top he could make a tell tale sight of her bra through, such as was the style for women these days. Christ she made his mouth water.
“Dan.” She greeted, her make up was light, natural. Her blonde hair fell in waves to her back. He wore his nicest jeans and button down. Naturally, people gave them strange looks. He knew she was out of his league, but she didn’t seem to care.
“Hendricks and Tonic, please.” She said to the bartender when asked what she wanted.
“Hungry?” Dan asked.
“Nah, I already ate.” She shrugged. “You?”
“No, I actually remembered to eat today.”
Abby grinned. “It’s a rare day I get to eat lunch, too. Much to my mother’s dismay. All five children grown and out of the house and she can’t seem to kick the habit of ensuring we’re all fed.”
“My mom still sends me care packages like I’m a college freshman.” He joked.
“That’s sweet.” Abby took a sip of her drink. “What kind of nurse is she?”
“Labor and delivery.” He answered.
Abby made a face. “That was my least favorite in school. I passed out in my first delivery. And naturally the OBGYN was buddies with my father so, that was a fun congressional Christmas party.”
Dan winced. “I can only imagine.”
“You never told me what it is you do for the senator.” She said.
“I’m basically a liaison for her intelligence committee.”
“And that’s about all you can tell me, isn’t it?” She ventured.
“You do know your D.C., don’t you?”
She smiled. “So what do you do for fun? Since work is clearly a subject we must steer clear of.”
“It doesn’t bother you I can’t talk about it?” He asked.
“Why should it? Anybody who asks you to jeopardize your position is no friend, Dan. I’d hoped you know that by now.” Abby replied. “Also, we are more than our job designations. For instance, I love to bake, but I’m terrible at making cakes.”
Dan laughed. “Really? Is that a thing?”
“Hey, don’t mock till you’ve had my key lime pie. It’ll make you forget cake is even a thing.”
She grinned.
Dan sipped his whiskey. “I run five miles every morning.”
“I swim.” She replied. “I love the ocean. I was born in Hawaii and lived there till I was 12 while my Dad was in the navy.”
“Never been.”
“You should go sometime.” She joked.
“Yeah, it’s on the bucket list.” Dan smirked. “I grew up outside of Pittsburgh.”
“Steeler Nation?” She rose her brows.
“Of course.”
“My father is a die hard Steelers fan.” She said.
They carried on back and forth, laughing and lightly teasing. Regalling childhood stories of growing up with four older brothers and a single mom in Pittsburgh. Abbey wasn’t what he initially expected, she’d had a job all through public high school, bought her own car, worked during the summers in college. Her father paid for her BSN from Chapel Hill, but she went on for her masters of nursing directly after graduating. She was 27 and head charge nurse of one the most prestigious hospitals in the nation. Dan made a perfect score on his SAT and took a full ride to Elizabethtown, earning his masters from John’s Hopkins and his post doc from Harvard. He grew up Jewish, but only attended temple on high holy days and definitely did not keep kosher. His father had died in a car accident when he was three and his mom remarried a nice guy when he was in college. David owned a landscaping company and treated his mom like she was gold so Dan couldn’t complain.
“Walk me home?” She asked. “But just so you know I won’t be inviting you up for coffee. I do have my standards, Dr. Jones.”
“I expect no less, Miss Holland.”
She lived four blocks from the bar in a nice neighborhood, clearly her salary out ranged his, not that it bothered him. They laughed and joked more, especially when he made a pop culture reference she didn’t understand.
“Hey! You’ve got like five years on me!” Abbey joked defensively.
“Almost seven, actually.” He looked down into her smiling eyes when she came to a halt in front of her townhome. “Nice place.”
“My brother, Anders, owns it, he rents it to me cheap.” She shrugged. “Well, cheap for D.C. anyway. And he lets me keep Frog.”
Dan gave her an incredulous expression. “Frog?”
She grinned. “My cat.”
“You have a cat named Frog?”
“Are you gonna kiss me or what-“
Before she could finish the sentence, he swooped in and kissed her. Gently at first, then as Abby leaned into it Dan wound his arms around her deepened the kiss. She tasted like tonic and cherries and he thought he’d died and gone to heaven at how soft her lips actually were. They were both a bit breathless when they broke apart.
“What are you doing Sunday?” She asked.
“Working, though I could be persuaded otherwise.” He chided.
“Come over for dinner.” She said. “I’ll make you something, however there will not be sex for you in lieu of dessert.”
“How can a man refuse such an offer.” He laughed. “Should I bring anything?”
“Frog is kind of mean. A cat toy would not go amiss.”
“Ever think it’s because you named him Frog?” Dan joked, brushing her cheek with his thumb.
Abby rolled her eyes benignly. “Everyone says that!”
Dan kisses her gently once more. “Goodnight, Abby.”
“Good night, Dan.” She smiled, unlocking her door and disappearing from sight.
As he hailed a cab, Dan couldn’t get rid of the grin stuck on his face.

Under Your Spell (Part 14) - Morning After You
Tumblr media
Summary: A Jared Padalecki/OFC/Oscar Isaac fiction.
Stef is a musician, recently gone solo. Happy with her life as a forever single person until Jared makes it his mission to get close to her. Her ex, Oscar isn’t sure what to make of her new relationship. Should he step in or leave her be? (For the purpose of this fiction, I have liberated some lyrics from various artists and their videos. This is fiction, with real people mentioned.) Married Jared, single Oscar!
Chapter warnings: Cursing
Chapter WC: 1,928
You doubt and you're desperate, you wear both your cross and your hammer.
Reactions to Twin Flames had been better than she could have ever imagined. The distraction of Jared visiting kept her away from the anxieties of releasing another new song. He had left an hour before the bus pulled away, holding her face in his hands, kissing her like he would never see her again. She missed him already. Already pining for him. He felt the same.
As she made her way across state lines, texts were coming through from everybody she knew.
Jared: I miss you so much. I keep watching this video, wishing we were making it all over again.
Stef: Making the video or making love
Jared: Both :)
Claire: My god, that video is hawt. Brendan misses you, he’s being a douche rn.
Darius: Mom, that video is amazing, I’m glad I didn’t have to see dad doing those things to you though. Warn me if the next one will be that graphic pls.
Oscar: I was not expecting the video to be like that. It’s both beautiful and confusing.
Stef rolled her eyes. She could just imagine Oscar’s brows furrowed, thinking over the video.
Stef: It’s past demons coming for me. I’m allowing them to devour me so I am reborn. I thought you’d be happy for me. Growing up and moving on.
Oscar: So happy for you. x
Several messages popped up from Jared while she drank her third coffee that morning.
Fuck
In trouble
They were Paps
Gen angry.
HELP ME
Stef snorted with laughter. He was really panicking.
Chill. I’ll put something up on my twitter about us hanging out, it should take some heat off.
Sure enough, it did. Stef had posted a short tweet about Jared coming to NY to celebrate the release of the song. She tagged her bandmates too. Mentioning that she would see her fans at the next show in Pittsburgh.
Two more shows in Canada, then home.
Just before she stepped on stage that night, she shot off a text to Jared.
Stef: Everything ok now?
It was hours before he replied.
Jared: Still in trouble, will call you later.
They were travelling again, hitting the road as soon as the show was finished. They all stank of sweat and beer. Luckily, they were staying in a hotel the next day. Her phone, on silent, flashed with Jared’s name across the screen. Keeping her voice low while the guys slept, she answered, her heart hammering in her chest.
‘Hey.’
‘Hey you,’ his voice just as low as hers.
‘What’s going on?’
‘Oh, just, Gen not happy we got caught. Photos of us on some gossip website. Did you see?’
‘Nah, I don’t care much for them. I didn’t have food on my shirt did I?’
Jared snorted, the tension easing as he laughed. ‘No. Gen showed me the photos but I told her not to look. We were just having lunch.’
‘Well, don’t look at comments on anything right now, it might upset you.’
Jared sighed heavily. ‘I hate that I’m getting in trouble over this. Can’t I just see my girl without someone else putting it out there for everyone to see?’
‘That’s kind of part of the agreement, honey.’ Stef yawned. She couldn’t help herself, her mind and body were achingly tired.
‘Yeah, but I broke the rules by going to see you.’
‘What rules?’
‘Well, we date other people when I’m away working. And I’m not working right now, I will be in a week or two but yeah, I may not get to see you all too soon. I’m sorry.’
‘What does that mean for us?’ Stef swallowed a lump in her throat.
‘Nothing baby, I just have to put my energy into my family right now. The kids missed me and I missed them. They’ll be back at school soon...’
‘So, I’ll be put on the back burner.’
‘Nah not like that. Come on.’ He pleaded.
‘It is like that. It’s what we signed up for. It’s not like you’re leaving your wife for me, you have to work between the two of us.’
Jared was silent on his end of the phone, it made Stef feel uncomfortable, she really didn’t know how to move forward in the conversation.
‘If that’s what you still want,’ Stef said, her voice lower that before. Her fingers winding into her hair nervously.
‘I always want you. Never think that I don’t.’
‘But you want to take a break from us for a while?’
‘I don’t want to, but it looks like we have to.’
It wasn’t final, but it felt like a kick in the gut.
Stef couldn’t agree to it, couldn’t say yes or no or fight with him.
‘Stef?’ His voice came through, she could hear his longing.
‘Yeah, it’s fine.’
‘No, it’s not. It’s not what you wanted. You told me you didn’t want this to be for everyone else, it was just for us and I promised you that. I said it was just for us. I fucked it up.’
‘I wouldn’t take it back though.’ Feeling as though she couldn’t punish him for everyone else’s reaction to it. It seemed so simple all of a sudden.
‘No I don’t regret a single thing. Maybe I just need to be a little more careful.’
‘We need to be more careful. I don’t want to talk about shit I know nothing about but I hope your wife isn’t too upset about this.’
‘Yeah well. I’ll have to work to get back in the good books.’
‘Good luck with that!’
Jared hummed on the other side of the phone. ‘You know what will get me through the next few days? A picture of my girl.’
Stef smiled. ‘Of me now? I look horrid after the show.’
Jared chuckled, ‘Impossible. And send one to me tomorrow too. I need my fix.’
‘Are we talking kinky pictures or...’
‘Well, now that you mention it, the idea is in my head.’
Stef bit her lip, curiosity taking over. ‘Maybe I’ll take a sexy picture. You’ll have to wait and see.’
‘Oh, baby don’t make me wait.’
‘He complains! After having me several ways yesterday.’
Jared whimpered. ‘I’m touching myself through my pants right now.’
‘Behave,’ she scolded playfully.
‘I can’t! You make me feel desired.’
‘Hey, can you not quote my lyrics to me!’
Jared started laughing then, feeling the funk of the last few hours draining away. ‘You make me feel so much better about this whole situation.’
‘It’s nothing, Jared. You can move past this. And I’m here until we decide otherwise.’
‘You mean if we decide to break up? Which we’re not.’ Jared pressed, ‘we’re not are we?’
‘No.’ Stef said with finality.
There was a voice in the background, she heard Jared pulling the phone away from his face.
‘I gotta go.’
‘Ok, good luck.’ Was all she could say before she heard his weak ‘goodbye.’
***
‘Brendan! My little douchebag, you miss me?’ Stef was kneeling on the floor of Claire’s hallway. Brendan was rubbing himself against her legs, annoyed that she had left him and happy that she was back. He couldn’t decide to be excited or just ignore her completely.
‘He was good for most of the time, but he destroyed some shit, as usual!’ Claire spoke to the cat, not Stef.
Sitting on her back porch in the bright autumn evening, hands around a strong mug of green tea, Stef gagged with each sip. She hated the stuff, but it was all Claire had.
‘So you hear from Richard at all?’ Stef didn’t want to the conversation to get on to Jared. They hadn’t spoken in three days and she missed him desperately.
‘Yes! Oh my god, we went out last week, that guy is sooooo funny!’ Claire exclaimed.
‘So, have you fucked him yet?’ Stef asked, remembering Claire asked her the same question about Jared.
‘I did, actually.’
‘And?’
Claire was beaming, ‘that guy is amazing in the sack. He’s amazing anyway.’
‘Woah, Claire. This is starting to sound like love.’
Claire rolled her eyes, ‘maybe. Oh my god. Listen to me.’
‘You’re gushing about a man!’ Stef couldn’t disguise how happy she was for Claire.
‘I’m seeing him next week too, he’s working on Supernatural so I get to see him and go on set.’
Stef’s heart sank a little, thinking of Claire on set meeting everyone again. Meeting Jared.
Claire nudged her, ‘You’re coming too, you know! I’m not walking on set by myself.’
‘Am I going? Jared hasn’t asked me.’
‘Shush, Richard said he would arrange it with Jared so we can go for dinner. All of us. All the cast, so it won’t look too suspicious for you guys.’
‘That’s nice of him. So he knows about me and Jared?’
‘Yes. And he’s totally cool with it. He said it’s also cool if you want to join us for a threesome.’
‘Oh tell him yes, right now. Tell him I’m ready and waiting.’
Claire clapped gleefully, ‘Oh he will be so happy. He’s always wanted to have a brunette and a redhead at the same time.’
‘You know, if I weren’t seeing Jared, I might even consider it.’ Stef imagined herself rolling around in the sheets with Richard, she bet that guy could fuck.
‘You’re not exclusive are you? It’s more of an open thing, right?’
Stef considered it for a moment, ‘I guess it is. But, I don’t think Jared would be too happy with the thoughts of me and Richard. And you!’
Claire shrugged, ‘As if he’s not sleeping with is wife too.’
‘Please stop, I don’t want to think about it!’ Stef put her head into her hands.
‘Sorry, but he does. That man has a good thing going. Two women on the go.’
‘Am I foolish, Claire? Tell me truthfully.’
Claire reached over and placed her hand in Stef’s. ‘We have been friends for so long, I would tell you if I thought you were being an idiot, in an instant you know I would.’
Stef nodded, agreeing.
‘To anyone on the outside looking in, yeah you could be a little foolish. But this is what you want and it’s what he wants. It suits you both. You’re enjoying it now.’
Claire kissed Stef’s hand. ‘So stop thinking too much on it. Just enjoy the love and attention of a good man with a good heart.’
‘You’re right.’
‘Of course I’m right.’
They fell into silence, thinking of the men currently occupying their mental space.
‘He has a huge dick doesn’t he?’ Claire mused.
‘Totally. And Rich?’
Claire sighed happily, ‘it’s as big as his personality. God, that man is made for me.’
‘Oh I told Jared I would send him a selfie.’ Stef pulled her phone from her pocket.
‘No, let me take it. Pose sexy,’ Claire grabbed the phone and typed in the pin code.
Stef leaned back against the rail on the porch, her hand in her hair. licking her lips. her gaze cast down.
‘Pull your tits out a bit, perfect.’ Claire showed Stef the photo before whipping it away and texting it to Jared.
‘Bitch, I can send my own messages!’
‘Yeah but you’ll put something boring. Let me.’
Stef laughed, covering her face with embarrassment seeing the picture that was sent to Jared with the tag line. ‘This pussy is so wet thinking of you.’
Brendan was in the lower half of the picture drinking water from a flower pot.

Opening the door, I was met with Vee, laying on the bed. None of us talked, and as I noticed tears running down her face, I couldn't prevent the tight smile from showing up.
Hey Venus
I knew what I was doing. I knew Vee would be mad, but I also knew that I hadn't have any choice.
Your hair... you did it for me?
Yes I did
No I didn't. I just thought that I would be able to attract more chicks that way
You're funny Manji'
She cracked a smile at my reply, but I didn't reflect her expression.
Manjiro will do yeah? Look Venus.
Approaching her and sitting by her side, I turned to her, resuming my talk.
It was dumb of me. Everything really. I think... how could I put it. You're a nice girl, but I don't think you're a good match for me. I need my woman to be more courageous and less of a crybaby you know? So yeah, it was fun while it lasted, but I kinda grew tired of you. Not to be mean though, it happens every day. I don't want to waist more time on you, so as soon as you're healed, you can start your life again alright? Koko could help you with money, we'll buy you a new apartment.
Vee didn't seem to listen anymore, her eyes were on me, but she didn't look as if she was believing me.
You're lying
Guess I will have to be more convincing them. Passing a hand through my hair, I grinned at her.
Look Venus, the sex was good, but you're getting too attached. You even said to Kakucho that you liked me! Really? Baby I was keeping you around because I pitied you. To be honest, I wanna fuck other girls now.
I needed to hurt her. To make her let go of me.
Senju wanted to see me tonight so... yeah.
Vee started being more aggressive with me, explaining it by the request that I had for her to be mine and me to be hers. I knew all that, and of course I wanted us to be together. But it wouldn't work. Not with an angel like her.
Look Venus, don't be a bore yeah? Don't act like we were together or anything. I don't like you, I stayed because your pussy was good. End of the story! I need to get ready for my little date, so I'm gonna go now. So huh... have some rest yeah?
Patting her uninjured leg, I didn't wait for her to answer and I winked at her, exiting the room.
As the door was closing, I closed my eyes, breathing deeply.
I was used to all that, but this time, I would make sure that the person I held close to my heart would stay alive, regardless of my feelings.
Sacrificing my happiness didn't look that bad if that meant for Vee to stay alive. Would I be able to see her with someone else? No. Did I even have a say in the matter? No.
-Mikey
I- I feel so bad rn??😭😭
And I hope you ate after !
OHHH OKAY MICHAEL!
I don’t like you. I pitied you. I don’t want to waste anymore time on you.
I knew he was lying. I knew every word he said to me was nothing more than fabricated bullshit he probably came up with on the drive here. There wasn’t any way somebody could fake the things we said to each other, the things we did. I knew that. So why was there a small part of me that was hurt? Who was contemplating the possibility that they were true. Of course it wasn’t… right?
I waited in that bed, saving my forgiveness for when he’d burst through the door five minutes later groveling at my feet, begging for mercy. I waited, despite the tears on my face that somehow knew he wasn’t. I waited and waited and waited. He never showed. That’s when I sobbed, big, heaving, blubbering ones. I sat there crying for what felt like forever, until I couldn’t even produce tears anymore. And then I got angry.
Pressing my nurse’s button, I ripped the IV out of my wrist and the other machines checking my vitals, watching blood trickle all along the sheets. I didn’t care about it. I couldn’t stay another second in this fucking place. If Mikey wanted nothing to do with me after I healed, then I’ll do him something better. The nurse ran in panicked, eyes wide. I watched her gape at the sheets, at the flatlining monitors and then at me. I didn’t even give her time to speak. I had already begun to stand.
I need to get out of here, I told her, lifting myself up from the bed.
She charged at me, trying to push my shoulders back down but I wouldn’t budge. What are you doing? Your wounds haven’t healed yet!
I repeated myself, but she was still panicking, going off about something I refused to care about. Irritated, I take the collar of her scrubs and yank, bringing her close to me. Listen to me, I need to get the fuck out of this building and if you don’t help me, I’m going to find a fire escape and do it that way. Or maybe I’ll jump out of the window, break my fucking neck. Can you live with knowing somebody died on your watch because you wouldn’t help them? Would you be able to stomach it?
The words coming out of my mouth were unrecognizable to me. I got petty with my friends and said shit I didn’t mean, but this was cruel and excessive. I guess this what Mikey was turning me into.
I let her go only after she nods her agreement, looking ready to burst into tears by the second. First, I’ll need a disguise. No matter what Mikey had just told me, I knew he wouldn’t let me out of his sight if he caught me doing this. And being trapped around Mikey was not going to fly. Fuck no. Where’s the clothes you came in wearing?
I-In my bag in our locker rooms, she stammered.
Bring them. I need to change.
She went out of the room and came back, bag in trembling hand. I dressed quickly and keeping my head down, I allowed her to sneak me straight out of the building and around the back where her car was parked. Then I asked her to drive me somewhere.
What? I can’t d—
Why not? I asked without caring to consider her feelings. The poor woman probably didn’t get paid enough for this. Is there anybody else Bonten gives a fuck about that requires you giving them medical attention?
N-no.
Good. I grinned. That means you’re off for the day. Now drive. You don’t have to worry about Mikey, this is what he wanted. A half truth considering he certainly wouldn’t have wanted me to be out of his life this quickly, but I skipped a few steps for my sanity and his life. If I had to be in his vicinity I probably would have killed him.
We got in the car and sped off, me giving her directions as soon as she started driving. I watched the building grow smaller and smaller in the rearview, doing my best to ignore the thudding in my heart. The pain. The stress of everything I had been through on top of this bullshit. My thigh throbbed dully in reminder beneath the bandage. Eventually, we arrived at the destination of my choice, and I was sure to thank her for everything she did. I couldn’t give her anything but gratitude. I didn’t have any money. My phone was still in that torture room where I left it, and all the shit Mikey bought me most likely didn’t survive in that collision that got me kidnapped in the first place. I was grateful for that last one. I needed no reminders of him.
I quickly hopped out of the car, hobbling toward the door of the place I had requested to go. The nurse, who’s name I realized I never asked for, pulled out of the yard before I even entered the door. Couldn’t say I blamed her. I pressed the ringer on the door, pushing on it when it buzzed open. Immediately the stench of animal hit me full force. The sound of dogs barking and cats meowing brought a smile to my face.
Then I heard him. Who’s at the d- His words got caught in his throat, most likely at the sight of me.
Hey, Dee. I had cried all my tears out for the day in that bed. I could only express my emotions in humor. The boss hasn’t fired me yet, right?
Then I started to fall, but he caught me just in time, sobbing my name into my neck. I hugged him back tightly, heart bursting for an entirely different reason now. I was safe. I was home.
Six months came and went in a blur. I spent most of it being interrogated by police and interviewers alike. I kept my stories the same. I didn’t know my kidnappers. I never saw their faces. I never knew why I was kidnapped. Despite the fact that I could draw a detailed picture of Mikey’s face in my sleep, I didn’t sell out Bonten. I had gotten into the last predicament by them thinking I was an enemy, I didn’t want to prove that I actually was one. And besides, I wanted nothing to do with him or atleast that was the story I was feeding myself.
I never saw Natalie again. I didn’t know what Mikey did with her, and I didn’t have it in me to care. My conversations with Angel and Tati stopped a bit after they realized that too. I was glad. I was starting to grow tired of pretending I missed the traitor, and they were tired of pretending like they didn’t resent me for being the one who made it out.
Darren and I were practically inseparable. He had become my right hand, driving me around to physical therapy, helping me assimilate back into society, and still managed to keep the last bit of normalcy I had before I left during work, cracking jokes as if nothing happened. From the outside looking in, it almost was as if nothing did happen, but you had to look closer. I couldn’t sleep at night. Nightmares plagued my dreams every waking day, either of Koda, Mikey’s men who had groped me, or Mikey himself. The only time I managed to sleep was on my lunch breaks, much to Darren’s dismay. But other than that? I was okay, doing what I loved again and surrounded by genuine people.
Now Darren was convinced that what I was missing was a social life. Just come out with me, Vee. It’s just drinks at a bar with a few of my friends. We’ll even leave before 11pm.
Because your bedtime is 10, I teased, laughing when he nudged me.
I’m serious, he whined. It won’t be awkward I promise they already know- He cut himself off.
Perhaps that was the most awkward part of all of this. Everybody knew me now as the girl who survived her ‘kidnapper’. Imagine what they’d think if I told them that technically he wasn’t my kidnapper. They’d probably faint if they found out I fucked him too.
It’s okay, Dee. I was all over the news. They’re bound to know.
Still, they’re not assholes. They won’t treat you any differently. I promise. And if you’re still uncomfortable we could leave and I’ll never bother you about this again for the rest of my life. Pretty please?
I mentally groaned. Darren could get annoying when he was pleading, and it wasn’t like I had anything else to do. My routine consisted of home, work, school, occasional grocery store, gym and repeat. Nothing else exciting.
Fine, I relented, trying not to smile at his loud whoops. But I’m leaving at 10 alright?
Alright, he cheered, hugging me. Let me text the guys right now! This is going to be awesome! You won’t regret this , Vee.
I sure hoped so.

Prom? (Jughead x Reader)
Prompt: Hey! I love reading your writing and I was wondering if you could do a jugxreader? Where jughead wants to ask the reader to prom? They're not together but they like each other☺️ could it be cute and have fluff and stuff
A/N: This is so cute and I need some fluff in my life rn. Plus Prom season is coming up. I’m going use the promposal that My Best Friend received our junior year as inspiration! It feels very Jug! All the characters are going to be in their Junior year as that is how my prom worked. Xx
Masterlist
Prom? (Jughead x Reader)
Prom.
The one dance every junior in high school thinks about.
Whether they want to go. Who they want to go with. The perfect dress. The car or limo. All that jazz.
You weren’t that keen on the idea.
Thinking that the perfect boy was going to come along with this whole elaborate plan to ask you to prom seemed far fetched and practically unrealistic.
You watched as another promposal happened in the hall. The flowers and huge banter made you roll your eyes. You definitely weren’t one of those girls. Not that you were saying it was wrong to like that stuff. Hell, if a boy did that for you, You’d be all over it too. But it wasn’t going to happen. You doubted anyone was even going to ask you.
Maybe you could just stay home and watch netflix instead. No one would miss you there. Plus dances weren’t your thing.
What you didn’t know is that Riverdale’s resident loner was trying to think of ways to ask you to that dance.
Jug’s eyes travel to you without you knowing.
He’s had the biggest crush on you for as long as he could remember.
“Hey Guys!” Your voice breaking his thoughts and he sends you a small smile as you sit down next to Ronnie.
“(Y/n)! Are you going to Prom? Wait, Of course you are! Who are you going with?” Veronica grabs your arm as you roll her eyes.
“What makes you think I’m going?” Your voice dripping in sarcasm with a hint of hurt.
The whole group share looks then turn to you.
“Wait, you're not going?” Betty gives you a confused look.
“The whole year is going!” Kevin adds.
You shrug your shoulders. “I’m not.” Hoping they’ll drop the questioning, you take a bite of your sandwich.
“Why not? Hasn’t anyone asked you?” V touches your arm lightly.
You give a shaky laugh. “No. And No one’s going to ask me.” You keep your eyes down, hoping they won’t pick up on the small want that you felt as B and V continue to talk about their dresses.
Jug was stuck. He’s never asked someone anywhere. Especially not to a prom.
He wanted this to be special but he was your best friend, he knew you wouldn’t want the whole school watching if he asked you. Plus He was scared shitless that you’d say no.
He didn’t want to ask anyone for help as Archie would tell him he was thinking about it too hard and B&V would immediately tell you the plan as they tended to spill any secrets when they got excited.
Kevin. Of course.
Kevin Keller knew you just as well as Jughead did.
He decided he was going to see if Keller would help him with an idea.
The girls and Archie were at practice when Jughead pulled Kevin aside.
“Listen, I need your help.”
“I don’t see you as gay. And I’m taking V to prom.” Jug gives Keller a weird look.
“No. That’s not what I was going to say.” Kevin nods and gives Jug the notion to continue.
“I want to ask (Y/n) to Prom.” Kev’s eyes widen. “But I don’t know how and I don’t want to just walk up and ask her.” He looks around to see if anyone is around as he talks.
“Okay. First of all, I didn’t know you liked her. Second of all, Yes. I’m game.” Kev claps his hands as Jug rolls his eyes.
“And don’t tell anyone about this!” Jug glares at him.
“Promise!”
It took a few hours but they came up with the perfect idea and Jug had to give Keller props.
The idea was that Kevin was going to ask you to help him with some homework and isolate you from the girls so Jug could ask you.
As for the promposal.
Kevin knew someone at the bakery downtown and requested a dozen frosted donuts, with “Prom?” written out on the middle ones.
Jug was going to pick them up the next day and present it to you during lunch while you helped Kevin with his homework.
Now that they had the plan, they were just hoping you’d say yes.
You noticed that Jug was acting weird all morning. But thought nothing of it when Kev asked you to help him during lunch.
You simply shrugged and told him to meet him at a table outside.
When lunch make around, Kevin was looking a bit nervous but you played it off as frustration.
So when Jug came towards you guys when a box from the bakery, you raised a brow at kevin.
“Hey guys.” Jug’s voice shakes with a lace of nerves.
You give him a concerning smile and glance at the box. “Hey Juggie. What’s in the box?”
You watch as Kevin and Jug share a look before he places it in front of you.
“It’s for you.” He stands up a bit straighter as Kevin gives you two a grin.
You glance at them before you open the box.
Tumblr media
You look back up at your best friend. “Really?” A blush rising to your face.
“Yeah. I-” He clears his throat and continues. “I’ve liked you for a while now and I want to take you to prom.” He pauses. “That is if you want to go?” His eyes showing uncertainty.
You give him a big grin. “Of course Juggie!” You stand up and pull him into a hug. Your heart hammering in your chest. “I’ve liked you for a while too Juggie.” You whisper and kiss his cheek before pulling away.
His cheeks light up and he nods shyly.
“So, Who wants a donut?” You gesture to the box on the table.
You watch Jug and Kevin both take one of the ones without the letters with a huge grin on your face.
You were going to Prom after all.
A/N: Sorry it’s short! I thought it was a cute idea <3

Asheville, NC in April
(April 17, 2017)
Asheville, NC is one of the most unique and special places I’ve ever been to, and it’s a great place for me to escape to. I’ve been there probably 6 or 7 times now since the first time I went for my 15th birthday and saw the Biltmore Estate with my parents.
Since I won’t be able to go to Asheville as easily for a few months, I had to have one last road trip before my upcoming flights. I got to see familiar faces and places, and got even more than I asked for.
On my first night in Asheville, I met up with my friend, Margarita at a Vegan restaurant off of Lexington Avenue called Rosetta’s. The first time I’d been there was when I went with RN and he got a Tempeh Reuben sandwich while I munched on a vegan Pad Thai with apricot dressing that cleverly replaced the fish sauce. Margarita has never had vegan food before, so I thought this would be a good experience for her. She opted for a Vegan burger with vegonnaise, vegan cornbread, and fries, which I thought was a good starting point for someone who still craves meat. She did well, but wouldn’t want to try the vegan cheese because cheese can never be replicated in a way as delicious. I got myself a “Buddha Bowl” which contained kimchi, sprouts, avocado, tempeh, and a ball of brown rice topped with a peanut butter sauce.
It was beautiful weather outside and the sun was setting at around 7:30 PM. It was funny seeing Margarita wearing a similar military jacket to the one that she wore when I first met her. Her hair was even close to the same length, just a little bit shorter. It was as if we’d come full circle. From when she picked me up at my hostel to when she dropped me off again later that night before heading home, the whole experience was like a deja vu, except I was a lot happier than I was before.
The last time I saw her in Asheville, I was there because I was depressed. My heart was just ripped out of my chest and I went there to seek some spiritual healing. What I found later was that the best way to heal is to have great friends around you, and to just be hugged. I showed Margarita all the places where I had good memories and met great people like at Dobrá Tea where I met with a psychic or Odd’s Café where  I met several inspiring people who were kind enough to stay and chat a while. It just seems like whenever I’m there something magical happens, but it could be because I look for those magical occurrences. Even if I do, I’d consider myself lucky.
While we were in the car, she said that while I’m gone, she wants to have a cool experience to tell me about. She asked me how I could just be walking anywhere, and someone would come up and talk to me and usually I’d find out that person had a really cool story to tell. She’s right, that does happen a lot, but it wasn’t always that way.
When I look back at how I was 5 or 6 years ago, I was extremely closed off. I let nobody into my bubble because I was afraid and I didn’t like who I was. I ate lunch in the library and the art room because I preferred not meeting people. It was intimidating to see cliques and want to break those barriers, and it still is. I hardly ever will join or form any sort of group, and I always strike conversation with someone when they are alone or with one other person.
Once you erase judgement from a first impression that would prevent you from talking to someone, you find that everyone has the potential to be interesting. What keeps people from talking to each other is either the fear that they are “better” than you or the misconception that you are too good for them. We have to realize that everyone is equal and there is no “better” because everyone is good at something.
Once I got rid of my fear of talking to strangers, I think people are able to sense that, so more people have started talking to me instead. Ultimately, the message that you send out to others will come back to you.
I met several people on my trip this weekend including a Ukrainian mother and daughter, a girl from New Jersey who was looking for a place to live, one of the people who worked at the hostel, Jim who came all the way from Connecticut to help his friend move from Asheville to Florida, Paul who came from Florida to look for a roommate in Asheville, a group of foreign exchange students from Germany, a group of vegan anarchists in the park, a yoga teacher on a Tinder date at Dobrá Tea named Krystle, a concert-goer from across the room named Justin, and a guy who needed to sell an extra ticket named Lowell.
I brought and shared my own food, and in return found free food in the park for an anarchist party function that I was later kicked out of (oops). Then I bought a wig on sale for $20 after taking an Uber to downtown from West Asheville because I needed a new disguise and I knew I would still blend in perfectly despite wearing something so bright (it was a platinum-blonde bob with peekaboo pink hi-lights in the fringe). I wasn’t wearing any makeup, so I waltzed into Urban Outfitters to put on some bright eyeshadow and lipstick from the samples and I found some glasses there for $5. I obviously got some looks in the store, but who’s to care when I won’t be there tomorrow? Plus they were samples, so it’s encouraged for people to try it!
I had about an hour before seeing Explosions in the Sky at the Orange Peel, so I went to Dobrà Tea where I had some delicious Lychee Tea while sitting on tiny pillows on the floor behind beaded curtains. I heard a girl talking about astrology, so I jumped in and asked her what my sign was. She guessed I was a fire sign like she was probably since I took that initiative and was pretty flashy-looking, but I surprised her when I said I was a Scorpio. I could see clearly that she was probably a yoga teacher based off of the way she looked and how she was sitting with perfect posture, and I was right! Her name was Krystle.
A guy named Justin was sitting across from us and overheard me talking about the concert with Krystle. It just so happened that he was going to the same one! Simply putting myself out in the open with these people allowed me a ride to the show from Krystle, a person to enjoy the music with named Justin, an introduction to Justin’s new friend Lowell, and a ride to our next destination at The One Stop from Lowell plus a ride back to my hostel later that night from Justin. I took three rides total from strangers that I had just met that night, and one ride that I paid for by Uber to get to downtown.
After such an eventful and social night getting to see my favorite band ever plus a new favorite called Thor and Friends, I shared the story of my entire night with the mummy sleeping bag boy, Paul. I finally slept at 3 AM, and then by sunrise I was on the way home to make it in time for Easter Brunch with my family.
I thought of all the fun I had the night before and the memories were aided by my new Thor and Friends CD blasting on my stereo. I guess the combination of loud music and sleep deprivation plus a wide open road caused me to be halted by a state trooper. Fuck. I got another speeding ticket. After all the luck and great experience I had in Asheville, though, a speeding ticket was not so bad. I didn’t know what I’d be doing after Alaska before, but I guess the answer came knocking on my window in the form of a state trooper telling me I had to be present in court on September 20th. I guess I’ve got to be anchored somehow, otherwise who knows where I’d drift off to.
