#and Pete who is in love by the second verse
Text
If I had a coin for every time I have overfixated on something that had neon lights, guns, and characters in open shirts with striking patterns willing to commit murder for the person they love I’d have two coins. Which is not much, but also not weird that it happened twice once you understand that I love characters committing murders in open shirts with striking patterns under neon lights.

this is a dark au/verse. minors need not interact. happy endings don't happen here.
𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐫 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫
Tumblr media
41 years old.
6’2’’.
Suburban dad with a dark side.
Likes flashing the cash for a look as he doesn’t get much attention back home.
Never misses stopping by when he’s in town.
Has a type and it just so happens to be you.
Brings you gifts; new outfits, new shoes, gold chains, etc, every single time he visits the club.
Will spend the whole night promising you the world– and his wallet, if you just go home with him.
Top Three: Daddy Kink, Overstimulation, Praise Kink.
𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐕𝐞𝐭
Tumblr media
45 years old.
6’4’’.
Oh, what a nice man–
Warning sirens sound in the distance.
Danger! Danger!
The man will make you beg, make you cry, rearrange your insides, make you fall in love and break you down all within a night.
The man is all kinds of fucked up. But knows how to hide it well.
Under Lloyds employement so like, you can guess the kinds of fucked up.
Did awful things while serving in the army, brought some of that back home with him.
Protect you? More like slaughter anyone who gives you a momentary glance.
Top Three: Rough (Violent) Sex, Service Kink, Corruption Kink.
𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐦 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐨𝐲
Tumblr media
28 years old.
6’1’’.
Cocky motherfucker, hot and he knows it.
The embodiment of a hyper puppy.
Acts like he’s always got the zoomies whenever he’s in the club.
Annoys the absolute shit out of all the girls but he’s hot, so they deal with it.
Secretly a sweetheart but never shuts his mouth.
Gets a little too handsy when he’s had a drink– or five.
Always asking Pete to loan him one of his girls for the night.
Don’t get him twisted, the guy FUCKS. and he's NASTY about it
Top Three: Dirty Talk, Deepthroating, Body Worship (receiving).
𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟
Tumblr media
43 years old.
6’0’’.
Corrupt little wank, like’s to make Pete nervous when he comes around, but he’d never spill on the shady things as he likes the club’s views.
Talks big shit but you’ll find him in the VIP rooms on a Saturday night.
A little wrong in the head, but treat him right and he’ll make you scream.
Can get a little rough with the girls when he's had a few.
Tight with money so always tries it on for a discount for not opening his mouth.
Has a big cock and is smug about it.
Likes 'em on their knees with an wide open mouth.
Top Three: Daddy Kink, Corruption Kink, Choking.
𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐢𝐬𝐬 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐲𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫
Tumblr media
32 years old
6’0’’.
Troubled addict that’s in the club; Every. Single. Night.
Likes just to watch, girls kinda hate him in the club because he won’t even throw a dollar bill but will spend a paycheck on drinks and other things.
Spends money he doesn’t have, does the odd job for Pete when he’s in a little legal trouble which gets him the odd night in the VIP rooms.
Don’t underestimate him though.
Will have you crawling back for seconds.
While not the roughest by any means, get him high enough and annoyed enough, he’ll make sure you’re not walking for the next two weeks.
Top Three: High Sex, Overstimulation, Throat-Fucking.
𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐦𝐩 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐞
Tumblr media
35 years old
6’1’’.
Idk, fam, somethings off about this one but we're gonna ignore it, okay?
Stares a little too long, kinda like he’s hunting.
Makes your heart race a little being around him– fuck or fight i guess. I know which I’m doing.
Tips nicely but never wants a private dance, likes to watch and drop cash at your feet after.
Weirdo tbh. It’s not like he ain’t got the money.
Sucks to be you if you decide to go home with him.
You ain't coming back, honey.
Top Three: Blood Play, Knife Play, Bondage/Rope.

There was a surprising amount of sex in Be Mine Superstar! I really wasn’t expecting it…. Similarly, Love Syndrome had a LOT less sex than I was promised by the trailer…
Are there any BLs that had either many more or many less NC scenes than you were expecting before you started watching them?
BLs that exceeded (or underperformed) sexy expectations
Interesting question. So far, not that many Thai BLs. But I think that's just because I pay attention to the pairs and the actors in Thai stuff, and you sort of get a feel for what they will (and won't) take on. So in your examples: I know JaFirst did high heat so I expected the producers to lean into that advantage as part of BMSS because, frankly, it didn't have much else going for it.
I haven't watched Love Syndrome III yet but knowing Frank I wouldn't expect it to go super high heat in terms of actual physical contact.
I guess the ones that have surprised me are mostly out of Thailand are pulps that I knew nothing about going in. Let me see...
Thai BL that ended up being way hornier/better than I expected
Tumblr media
Secret Crush On You - such a weird show but BillySeng brought IT, whatever IT is, they got it.
Tumblr media
Love in Translation - yeah, what happened in that sauce isle boys? Very saucy. Whatever pun, more please.
Tumblr media
2 Moons 3 - about on par with ForthBeam from 2 Moons 2 but nothing else in the previous 2 series would lead one to expect the horny we got in this show on the main.
Tumblr media
Second Chance - yeah it was a throw away pulp and this studio is hit or miss on chemistry but it had one of the best kisses of its year.
Tumblr media
Big Dragon - I don't know what I expected form the trailers, but it wasn't as good as it turned out to be. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the show is naff, but the chemistry/heat levels are scorching.
Tumblr media
Ghost Host, Ghost House - generally the horror stuff doesn't do chemistry well, but these two have some of the best chemistry EVER put into a pulp. I really hope we see more of them.
Tumblr media
KinnPorsche - It's no secret I'm not as wild about this show as most, but I did think the VegasPete stuff was unexpectedly killer in all ways.
Tumblr media
Oh My Sunshine Night - yeah it was exactly what one expects from OhmFluke but THE SIDES!!!! I mean... WHAT? I'm not mad, just pleasantly surprised.
Tumblr media
TharnType - Okay but remember at the time what we'd had from Mame was LBC (relatively low heat) and other Thai stuff I was familiar with at the time was Make It Right, Love Sick, SOTUS, and UWMA. TT was way higher heat that I'd seen from Thailand before. And then...
Tumblr media
Why R U? - ZeeSaint's "away trip to the beach" full on sex scenes plus repping for verse was just crazy at the time. Especially since Saint played Pete in LBC before this and Zee was new to BL. Add that to the very odd and disjointed (and miss-matched) SaifahZon counter story and WRU? was this insane all over the place viewing experience, including the heat levels. There was this "what will they do next?" kind of tension over the production. Not the story (because who was following that?) but the PRODUCTION. At the time, it was welcome, but truly bonkers. What a way to drive narrative tension... pure high heat chaos.
Tumblr media
Thai BLs where chemistry failed meet my (relatively low) expectations
My Ride - honestly, if they had just gotten the kiss right this might even have earned a 10/10 from me
Unforgotten Night - ugh
Bite Me - double ugh
Friend Forever - I know I'm the only person who watched this but why could we not have gotten ONE kiss from the leads?
Nitman - studies have since shown us it is entirely not Noh's fault... see Oh My Sunshine Night
Wedding Plan - the leads were fine, but Mame usually fails me in every way except chemistry, so "fine" is not up to her usual standards. Those standards being predominantly "they hawt together" and nothing else. There wasn't even a side dish couple to pick up the slack noodle... so to speak.
Tumblr media
Korean BL
For most of 2022 I was consistently getting surprised by Korean BL's chemsitry when it was good but now I've settled into half expecting it yet still being delighted when it happens and is well done.
I do think Semantic Error was a bit of a seed change for them.
The problem is, now we know they can do it, we are starting to get pissed when it's bad or entirely absent.
Tumblr media
Taiwanese BL
Taiwan is the opposite of Korea.
I expect good chemistry and almost always always get it. I struggle to think of a time when they've disappointed me (in this arena). Maybe a few? But I tend to cut Taiwan more slack than other countries because they have so few BLs and they are generally so consistent. If they falter at all, at least the side couple will pick up the slack.
Tumblr media
Japanese BL
I have no expectations of Japan. Life as a BL fan is a lot easier that way.

So it's Day 1 of Pavlove (Demo) and I've listened to the song more today than I have ever before so I want to point out a couple of observations:
(1) The way Patrick phrases "I'm the invisible man / who can't stop starING / at the mirror," like, it helps out the rhyme but it also reminded me of how Patrick has such unusual phrasing and rhythms sometimes and always suits Pete's words so well.
(2) The lyric video has now forever frozen it as "she's back to the bathroom for one more" but I've always felt like that's one of Patrick's blurred phrases and it could be "she's back to the backroom for one more" and I always liked the ambiguity of that, like, the line could be about HER addiction (back to the bathroom for one more line of coke) or it could be about HIS addiction (waitress back to the backroom for one more drink for him).
Also, listening to the beginning of that podcast episode really made me curious about this song, especially because they list it as "demo" in Spotify and Patrick talks a lot about what his demos sound like. Patrick says that his demos are always verse 1, prechorus, chorus, and then he sends them off to everyone else to see what they think before he adds the second chorus and the bridge (bridges are his favorite, he says; the way he talks about songwriting just makes me so happy, it's never a chore, he considers it fun, I just love it). I know this song was a finished song included on the deluxe CD but their weirdness around it and the fact that it's called "demo" AND the fact that on this very day I ALSO listened to Patrick talk about his demos made me realize that this song doesn't really have a bridge, and the second verse is great but also has a lot of empty space in it, like, it's just Patrick riffing for a bunch of it, it's not as fleshed out as the first verse is. Like, it literally always feels two lines short to me when lined up against the first verse. I've never thought much about that, because sometimes Patrick does that with his lyrical rhythms (the "I'm mailing letters to addresses in a ghost to-o-o-o-o-o-o-wn" has always kind of irked me, tbh) and I think there are other songs where he kind of leaves the bridge out, but in light of what he said about how he demos, I wonder if this song was never really finished the way he wanted it to be, and it never got entirely finished because of how everything fell apart. Idk speculation.

Pit Babe Finale Thoughts
I can’t believe PitBabe is over. I’ve been watching week by week since November and it has been such a wild ride. I don’t remember enjoying a show and the fandom space of the show so much since probably Kinnporshe.
And I did not have any expectations for this show. At most I was interested because Pavel was in it. But even then I hadn’t watched anything he’d been in in a while. Also I had heard after the first episode came out that it was an omega verse style show where Pavel’s character plays the “bottom”. That definitely intrigued me.
However I still had a lot of doubts. I just assumed Babe would be the typical toxic alpha character. And I keep saying this but I’m so glad I was proven wrong. This show has kept me on the edge every single episode and the final episode broke me and put me back together again.
Before I delve into what I loved I will say I really wish there had been just one more episode. Some parts of the final felt a bit rushed. I would have especially liked to see more of the aftermath of Tony’s fall, more specifically how they handled it with the public. Also I wanted to see some PeteKenta:(( Also I would have liked to see more CharlieBabe communication scenes, because they didn’t really talk that much in the last episode.
But I’m not mad at how the finale was structured and how it played out. Actually I’m quite the opposite with PitBabes finale. It wasn’t perfect but I loved it so much.
First off Kenta stabbing Tony was so powerful but also heartbreaking at the same time.
Tumblr media
Of course he had to be the one to finish off Tony. It’s the way also that Tony can’t believe it. He looks completely shocked. It’s the way that Kenta’s voice is soft he’s completely detached. He’s done enough.
And Way’s death.
Tumblr media
Not just his death but the whole scene where Babe is holding him as he is dying.
Tumblr media
The pain and desperation in Babe’s face made me want to cry. (Kudos to Pavel again) Even though Way had betrayed Babe’s trust and attempted to force himself onto Babe, in Babe’s mind at the moment he doesn’t think of all that. After all they have been friends so so many years. It’s hard to forget all of that
I loved this scene. Their dialogue especially broke me. Even till the end, when Way confesses his love, Babe tells him that we’re best friends. I love you but not the love you want.
And I really think Way redeemed himself, and this is all coming from someone who used to despise him. He gives his life up for Babe. He did something horrible okay yes but in the last few episodes he keeps his distance. He truly loves Babe, and because of the way he was raised he most likely didn’t even realize what he was doing was wrong, but after he realized how much he had hurt Babe he changed and it was clear to see.
See that’s the thing I love about the characters in Pit Babe I realized is that they have faults, no one character is perfect. Because of the trauma they suffered being a part of Tony’s orphanage they don’t know how to live a normal life. They all have their fatal flaws.
It’s why Babe is so desperate for love. And why Charlie is so self sacrificing. It’s the reason why Kenta couldn’t break free and the reason why Pete felt like he could fix those around him.
One last scene that I loved that I want to talk about is Babe and his Dad’s reunion.
Tumblr media
I’m so glad they included this. Babe deserved the closure and he also deserved to be angry and upset. He went through so much and to know that your dad is still alive and he hadn’t even contacted you years after?? This scene in my head is a comparison for Babe and Charlie’s reunion but I feel like because of this scene I understand why Babe forgave Charlie so much easier. First of all Babe suspected Charlie was alive so it wasn’t a complete shock to him. And also Charlie’s “death” was only for a week or two maybe more. Charlie death was a sacrifice for Babe. Charlie literally spends every second of his life fighting for Babe.
But on the other hand, Babe’s dad sacrificed Babe. There’s a clear difference between the two. Yes he was doing it to protect him but he could have tried to get him back?? He could have tried to contact Babe?? He was a coward. And he acknowledges that and Babe eventually does forgive him because after all it’s his dad. But I just thought the dichotomy of the two was interesting.
Now moving on to my favorite thing, Babe and Charlie. I haven’t fervently loved a main couple in so long but these two just do it for me. They are the perfect match. Their confession did it for me.
Tumblr media
Because of course Charlie had only loved Babe and Babe hasn’t loved anyone like Charlie before. They make me want to scream. Also in the final episode I really appreciated how supportive Charlie was. He was there and he understands Babe he doesn’t push. He just wants Babe to be happy. God I love them so much.
My brain is rotting and I feel like I have so much more to say but this post is already too long so that’s all my thoughts for now. I will miss this silly vroom vroom show so much :(((

In the Chaos-verse, did Chaos tap Rooster out?
Chaos Series Masterlist
Yeah. But it wasn’t something that you inherently wanted to do. Initially you weren’t going to bother. Bradley Bradshaw's graduation ceremony was held smack bang in one of your worst break ups. You hadn’t spoken since before Bradley was accepted.
“He needs someone to tap him out Y/n—“
Mav chewed you out as you sat in your car, you’d just finished a shift and after hearing your dad drown on about how Bradley was graduating with honours in ballistics combat, going to your ex boyfriend’s graduation ceremony was the last thing you wanted to do. “If not you, who?”
You knew Pete was right, even if it was slightly hypocritical of him to give you an attitude about whether or not you showed up for Bradley Bradshaw, considering his own tattered relationship.
But ultimately you ended up deciding it was better to show up then to regret it later on down the track. So, after stalling for twenty or so minutes before deciding to finally just pull the trigger, you stood before your ex, your only love, your best friend, with a bunch of flowers and a soft smile as he stood to attention—eyes forward.
He was the last graduate left standing in the quad. His commanding officers were about to pull the plug until they saw you making your way over to where Bradshaw stood. Deciding he deserved to have his moment like everyone else.
“I wasn’t sure whether to come or not.” You knew Bradley couldn’t answer you until you tapped him out. “But if not me, who?” You let the stat mention linger as you admired Bradley in his ceremonial uniform. “I want you to know I’m so unbelievably proud of everything you’ve managed to accomplish, you did it all on your on B-rad.” You had to wipe away a few stray tears that had fallen down your cheeks. “My best friend is a fighter pilot, that’s probably the coolest thing I’ll ever say—to anyone.” You beamed as you held your hand out. You were going to touch Bradley’s shoulder, but at the last second you settled instead for his cheek. Slowly but surely placing your palm against his freshly shaven jaw. Instantly feeling Bradley soften under your touch as he turned his head to kiss your thumb—cupping your hand with his as he cried with you.
“Thanks for coming.” Bradley sobbed before wrapping you in his arms. Reciprocating the gesture, you hugged him back a little tighter. His arms around your waist, your arms flug around his shoulders. “You have no idea how much this means to me—“ Neither one of you knew at the time but the photographer who had been capturing moments all morning had managed to capture the beautiful moment you and Bradley shared. Immortalising it. “I love you so much.” You heard him as clear as day, it crushed you. Made you cry just a little bit more because you knew that it would always end the same way. But it was inevitable what you said back, because regardless of you knew how it would end you were an addict through and through.
“You’re a pain in my ass Bradshaw—but I love you too.”

This might be one of those "putting too much thought into some basic blue curtains" situations, but I've been thinking about it a lot. Enjoy the following sleep-deprived ramble (and continuing ramble in the tags)
I feel like the line "and if I finally break the rules, I will know of my world, I'm the ruler" means so much. We only ever hear it twice ("cool as I think I am," and "dirty dudes must die"), even though the first part ("If I can finally be cool I will know that I'm not a loser") is played numerous times, and has a LOT of importance placed on it. Dirty Dudes is obvious by explaining how Grace is falling to what she would consider satanism in the name of God, but I personally see the first usage as kind of meta. Peter is singing the song about him and Stephanie, right? Well, in the other two Hatchetfield musicals, there are both couples that slowly fall in love over the course of the runtime. And you know what? They all die at the end. Hatchetfield dies at the end. It's because the Lords didn't know the main characters personally, or else weren't asked, and they were on the bad guy's side.
The Lords in Black are very much the bad guys. They feed from people's wants and their desperation to reach fulfillment (filling the holes), and actively cause destruction to cause more want and desperation. So "breaking the rules" by making them join the good guys side, just for once, causes the nerds to be known and protected so long as they pay the price. And they do. And that's why Nerdy Prudes has a good-ish ending. The second final song "The Best of You," as weird as it is, is entirely focused on Pete and Steph, who broke the rules by not dying, and became the "Rulers," homecoming king and queen, as a result (I know it wasn't explicitly stated they were king and queen but it wasn't a plot point at all so let me pretend lol).
So basically if Grace Chastity weren't there, they would have failed and Hatchetfield would have died again.
EDIT while listening to the music again I found another half-sung form of the lyric in "cool as I think I am (reprise)" that mashes the two verses together ("If I can finally break the rules, I will know that you have to do it"). This still goes with my thought process though since it's literally during the point where the normal rules of the couple dying are broken. They are literally breaking the rule where they had to sacrifice themselves. Thanks Max thanks Grace you saved the world from a disaster you caused <3

I love coming up with music video ideas for songs that don't have music videos and lately the one I've been thinking about is 20 Dollar Nosebleed/West Coast Smoker as a combined video.
20 Dollar Nosebleed:
- Fall out Boy reprising their roles as the characters in 'America's Suitehearts' and putting on a show inside of a theater (which looks like the theater that's on the cover of From Under The Cork Tree)
- (doing this ONLY because he sings in the song) featuring Brendon Urie, who I don't put much thought into but I think would be wearing the outfit he wore in the 'I Write Sins...' music video
-starts out with just Patrick on stage, playing the piano and singing the intro. Eventually Brendon walks out during his part. Both Patrick and Brendon have physical strings attached to their bodies like puppets.
- Brendon does a little dance during the first chorus-- but he moves in a very stiff and unnatural way, as if being controlled (spoiler: they all are)
- when the chorus hits the curtain behind them pulls back to reveal the other members of Fall Out Boy, each one mounted on their own little pedestal and having strings attached to them as well. As they play their instruments, they also move stiffly, but less like puppets and more like animatronics.
-the second verse shows Pete looking at the strings on him then following his eyes up to the ceiling. Up on the rafters are a group of five well dressed, executive looking people. Unlike the characters on stage and those in the audience, the Executives are not made into a caricature of themselves and instead look the most "normal". Each executive controls the strings of one of the band members. Pete starts struggling to get free during the line "the man who would be king/the man who would be king"
-When Brendons second verse hits, Patrick stands up and walks to him, and during the chorus the two have a dance together: the dance is, like the rest of their movements, stiff. Every now and then it will cut to a shot of one of the Executives moving their hands like a puppeteer. The Executives are smiling, clearly having fun manipulating Fall Out Boy, while the guys all look like they are suffering some sort of pain each time the Executives jerk at the strings.
-during this, there are occasional shots to the audience. Everyone is dressed in an eccentric way, and holding a camera. Everyone is taking pictures of the band.
- during the "ba ba ba Benzedrine, my my my Benzedrine" part, it shows the Executives forcefully jerking Joe, Andy, and Pete around as they all struggle to get free from their strings while still playing their instruments. Patrick and Brendon are subject to this as well, both of them showing clear signs of pain but forcing themselves to smile through it as the cameras flash in their faces.
- during "the rest of the proof is on the television, on the-", Patrick walks to the edge of the stage and has his picture taken by an audience member. Patrick looks to be in anguish, and when he finishes his line, he is aggressively jerked away and back towards Brendon. There's a shot of an Executive grinning. The two finish their final chorus, Patrick sits back down at the piano and Brendon walks back to the side of the stage he entered on. The lights dim, and (what should be) the final shot is of Patrick smiling as he says "Have you ever wanted to disappear?"
- the curtains begin to roll down, but Pete finally breaks his strings off and hops onto Patrick's piano, takes the mic, and starts reciting the poem at the end. The audience lowers their cameras, horrified that Pete is acting of his own accord.
- As Pete talks to the audience, Andy, Joe, and Patrick take their strings off as well. During the line "always thought I'd float away", Pete rubs the Mr. Sandman makeup off of his mouth with his sleeve. Patrick gets his guitar from the side of the stage. Andy removes his green shirt and Joe turns up the amps. The Executives are freaking out, not understanding how Pete could have escaped.
- Pete delivers the last line as he stares up at the Executives. Roll the intro of West Coast Smoker. Many members of the audience drop their cameras and cover their ears.
West Coast Smoker:
- pete quickly puts the mic onto the stand for Patrick, and picks up his bass. Like Pete, Patrick removes his lip makeup as well.
- As Patrick sings the opening lines, there are a few shots of the Executives looking horrified and not knowing what to do to get Fall Out Boy back under their control. Joe and Pete move closer to the front of the stage and away from their pedestals from earlier. Both are moving around in a much more natural way. Andy is headbanging while he drums (which he was not doing during 20 Dollar Nosebleed). Patrick is moving to the beat of the song as well, but he is not dancing like he did with Brendon.
- The chorus hits as Joe screams "oh hell yes!" before doing his signature spin move. Patrick sings the next lines. More cuts to the audience. All of them have gotten rid of their cameras and now watch in shock and horror as the band is finally free and performing how they want to perform. Shot of the Executives running off their platform up on the rafters to somewhere off screen.
- when the second verse hits, Pete moves closer to Patrick like how he does on stage in a real life Fall Out Boy show. Pete whispers the line "and that's all that should matter to you" (or is it "and as always I'm not addicted to you"? I hear this line in the song but the lyrics say it's the first way) in Patrick's ear. Some members of the audience turn away at this part.
- during the second verse, it cuts to the Executives hastily walking down a hallway. They each hold a spool of red threads: their goal is to get Fall Out Boy back under their control. The two who were controlling Patrick and Pete hold makeup brushes and some face paint containers. Cut back to the stage. Andy, Joe, and Pete are having the time of their lives: they're headbanging, thrashing around, Joe is spinning and Pete is doing his jump spin move. They are all smiling.
- second chorus hits and Patrick is moving more so than he was the first. He's thrashing around more and singing enthusiastically (unlike in 20 Dollar Nosebleed, where he looks more hesitant to sing)
-afterthe chorus, the doors of the theater are flung open and every audience member turns to watch as the Executives make their way towards the stage, angry and scowling. Cut to Joe, who looks pissed off, then to Patrick, who is frowns, and finally to Pete who scowls.
"Knock Once for the father" -- shot of Patrick aggressively playing his guitar
"Twice for the son"-- Andy beating the drums hard
"Three times for the holy ghost" -- Joe riffing on his guitar.
- during the "I'm a nervous wreck!" screams, Pete fully let's loose and runs around his side the stage, smiling as the Executives watch in horror as he knocks equipment over and breaks part of the stage. After his screaming, Joe follows suit and also beings to break stuff and knock things over. It's total choas as Patrick sings the end of the song, gleefully holding his middle finger up to one of the Executives with a makeup brush in their hands.
- the video cuts to black after the final line "Three Times for the Holy Ghost" but the final scene is Fall Out Boy standing on a partially destroyed stage, smiling.
My idea is that it's meant to comment on fame (like all of Folie does). In the first half of the video, the boys are playing literal caricatures of themselves on stage. They're also being physically controlled by the Executives, who are literally meant to represent record label executives but also represent toxic fan and celebrity culture as well as what people expect Fall Out Boy to act like. Patrick and Brendon -- the lead singers of their bands-- are constantly the ones focused on by the audience. They're the main subjects of the photos. They're being controlled like puppets and gawked at like zoo animals. Andy, Joe, and Pete are placed onto a pedestal and do not move from it until Pete's poem when they free themselves. They move more like animatronics during the first part of 20$Nosebleed but are eventually jerked around like puppets too. All of them are suffering pain from this: you can see it clearly written on their faces, but they have to keep smiling and keep the show going-- Patrick and Brendon especially.
I have more analysis for this but this was so much to type so I'm definitely putting it in a 2nd post later

Finally I Watched “NERDY PRUDES MUST DIE”
As someone who has spent much of their adolescence watching YouTube and listening to original broadway cast albums, team starkid was the perfect intersection of my hyper fixations. Since I’ve gotten older with less time on my hand, I’ve only been a casual fan within Starkid nation.
However last Friday at 5 o’clock Eastern Standard time, Team Starkid premiered the third horror musical comedy within the so-called hatchet-verse, “Nerdy Prudes Must Die”. The chaos of midterms and rehearsals pulled me away but I had my first watch on Sunday night. I have watched bits and pieces since plus people’s compilations on YouTube.( i’l link down to them later) I have many thoughts about the show itself and some things I’ve read online and I am just gonna list them out. (Warning Slight Spoilers Ahead)
Probably my favourite musical so far out of the trilogy. I was a little underwhelmed with Black Friday when I initially and worried this wouldnt live up to TGWDLM. It is better, funnier and better paced overall. Definitely worth the watch
Angela's expressions remind me of Rachel Bloom in the best way. Her commitment to every bit is fantastic and she makes Grace Chastity.
Will Branner sounds so freaking good and plays Max’s up max’s funny and scary moments really well.. I really hope to see him again in another starkid project.
Dirty Girl is underrated and  it was my favourite song on first watch. Will and Angela mesh well, it's got this goofy sexy vibe and the second hand embarrassment I get watching this fantasy play out makes it so memorable. It kinda bummed me out to see it ranked so consistently low on other people’s rankings.
Speaking of music, Jeff Blim knocks it out of the park and I will probably listening to the album when it hits streaming nonstop.
Steph and Pete are mad cute as the main couple within the cast of characters.
Jon Materson is so good in this! The character Richie felt very real to me and I was so endeared to him. I did not want him to be the first to go, but Jon belting out “ I’m not a loser” go so hard.
Hatchet Town is easily in my top 3. Bryce sounded amazing in her verse annd I’m glad to see her utilized more. All the cameos were a treat for anyone who kept up with the hatchet verse lore, shows and readings,
I liked Barbecue monologues but I think Ruth’s dragged a little long. Still love Lauren Lopez as always and her voice was lovely in that scene’s solo.
Loved that Pete was confirmed as hot chocolate guy from TGWDLM. Once again, I love the lore tie-ins
“She’s bisexual and dead, where else would she is?” Is the freaking greatest one-liner in the show and I need it on a t-shirt or something.
The Summoning is the best song in the show, Its been going on my head nonstop. I loved the costume and physical interpretations of the lords in black especially Kim’s Nibbly and Lauren’s Blinky.
Those were all the main things I wanted to share about the show and my commentary. If y’all having any theories or head cannon, I want to hear them. I will probably start posting my own after another rewatch :)
Here are the link to the show plus other people edits and thoughts of npmd that inspired this post.

YET !!! ANOTHER ANALYSIS!! And for good reason this time because people keep misinterpreting Pete’s work to be about Mikey and it makes me fucking PISSED can you not let pete have one thing in his goddamn life i get it its fine to have headcanons and opinions but PLEASE for the love of god please stop discrediting all of his hard work & good writing to be about a white boy he fucked back in ‘05 this CONSTANTLY happens with poc artists and it makes me mad to no end
yep, that’s right. today we’re talking about I Am My Own Muse. writing this essay i have listened to it a grand total of twenty three times
i like this song a lot specifically because i do kind of relate to it a lot frequently i feel like smashing a guitar until i go insane but i dont have a guitar and i dont know how to play one regardless so. uh yeah
The thing about IAMOM is that it’s saying that in the TITLE. Hes his own muse. And obviously no one can take that away. sure , some of his songs might be inspired by someone, but in the long run, who do they come from? pete. romance songs might not be about anyone in particular. I know ive wrote songs that could be interpreted as romance, but they’re actually me talking to my younger self or my future self or my friend, and the point is, even though songs written by pete may seem like they were about someone that doesnt mean they are and you cant, you CANNOT discredit the fact that he is his own muse. just like the song title says.
The song begins with a BANGING orchestral arrangement. I think the intro to IAMOM is my favorite song intro on the album. It's just very well thought out and clearly carefully planned, and quite honestly I think patrick did an AMAZING job and I'd love to see him do a breakdown of the composition here because I am IMPRESSED. Not even to mention the vocals, he is on FIRE. anyway in the rest of this essay I’ll be interpreting the lyrics and tying them back to the central topic i just opened with: How Pete Is His Own Muse.
The first verse is quiet, and it begins like this:
“Here i am, not sure you should take a chance
I like playing dumb, letting you figure me out
But i was faded in my own defense
So drop a bomb on the things we dreamed about”
I feel as though this verse is very clear. He isnt sure that the person he’s referring to should take a chance on him, should think that he is worth it, and he likes being able to be up to someone else’s interpretation with no outside influence. i do this frequently with strangers- i stay quiet so that they can make up their own idea in their head about me. They can figure me out themself, since i clearly cant figure myself out, and i think that’s the idea pete is really aiming for here. ‘So drop a bomb on all the things we dream about” can be referring to himself or someone else, but here let’s take it in the context that he’s discussing himself. This line is repeated in the second verse, so it’s clearly one of the main points that needed to be stated here; here he is saying to himself that (again, it’s that self sabotage) he should give it up, give it all up, it’s not worth it, destroy it all, drop a bomb on all our dreams because they aren’t going to happen. Taken together with the previous lines we can basically say that pete is saying that because he is leaving himself open to interpretation from the public, the things he truly meant to say are lost. And i think that’s the main thing here, especially with the title, and obviously im doing it myself, maybe this isnt what he meant at all, but i definitely do think it correlates along those lines to some degree.
The chorus is repeated several times throughout the song (3 times to be specific) and it goes like this:
“Smash all the guitars ‘til we see all the stars
Oh got to throw this year away
We got to throw this year away like
A bad luck charm”
And then that repeats twice.
I think i can safely say everyone reading this right now has gone through the pandemic. I assume three year olds dont go on tumblr. The entire smfs album references 2020 and 2019 time and time again, most critically in What A Time To Be Alive, and it’s heavily present in this song too. “Got to throw this year away (like a bad luck charm)” vocalizes the wishes of pete and everyone else who wishes to cut those years out of their brains- pete has expressed in interviews how taxing the pandemic really was on his mental health, and i think that “smash all the guitars” could symbolize the frustration and pain he really felt in that time; destroying music (one of the main things he loves) until he can sink into that despair and just float away (“‘til we see all the stars”). Another way this can be interpreted is an act of rebellion (a lot of musical artists smash their guitars during shows, cough ryan ross cough) but i dont really think that that makes as much sense in this context.
The next verse:
“The trumpets bring the angels but they never came
No one let them in ‘cause they didnt know my name
I know i keep my feelings so tucked away
Just another day spent hoping we dont fall apart
So drop a bomb on all the things we dreamed about”
Another very pete based verse (BECAUSE HE IS HIS OWN MUSE). This kind of links to Heaven’s Gate because it’s related to the same thing- not making it on the list, not feeling worthy of getting into heaven, because this sort of self deprecation is reflected throughout most of Fall Out Boy’s albums. I could give a million examples of this, but I don’t want to be here forever. “The trumpets bring the angels but they never came/ no one let them in ‘cause they didn’t know my name” sort of brings to mind the image of a person waiting to be carried away to something they’re not entirely sure they deserve, and they’re proven correct because no one ever came to carry them away, no one ever decided that they’d be on the list to get to heaven and the angels just went marching past and pete can hear their horns, know theyre there for people who deserve heaven much more than he does. How sad is that?
“I know i keep my feelings so tucked away/ just another day spent hoping we dont fall apart” carries the feeling of not wanting to be a burden with every emotion thought and expressed, even the good ones, and ‘we’ can be referring to himself, every single aspect of himself, hoping he doesn’t fall apart into shards of the stars his guitar is made up of. and then of course it’s the line about the bomb again, although this time it feels even more internalized and personal because it’s the second time he said it, and he dreams of getting into heaven but how can he make it up there if the angels themselves know he does not deserve to and so. drop a bomb on all the things we dreamed about, folks, because they aren’t going to happen.
The bridge:
“So let’s twist the knife again, twist the knife again
like we did last summer
So let’s twist the knife again, twist the knife again
Oh, i’m just trying to keep it together
But it gets a little harder when it never gets better I'm trying
To keep it together, to keep it together, oh”
To me this entire bridge just feels really deeply confessional and personal. Im going to start at the bottom because i like it the best.
He’s trying. He’s trying so damn hard- to be optimistic, to be hopeful and stay full of happiness and love but it’s SO HARD when there’s no light at the end of the tunnel to motivate him. This is still talking about quarantine, i think; i remember i was in middle school at the time; they said that we would be back in two weeks. I remember i was grateful to get a break and time off. Then two weeks turned into two years and it got really, really hard to see an end to the pandemic. When things stop improving it gets harder and harder to keep it together when you can’t see the results of any of your actions, when you’re trying your best but it still gets you nowhere. Wouldn’t you stop trying? i know i would.
And let’s talk about “let’s twist the knife” just a little bit. “Last summer” might refer to the last album release, which is Mania (even though it was released in January). Another album cycle, another twist of the knife; another bit of words that pete has to pull out of himself like ribbons, and although he loves it, that’s his job, it still feels like dredging up all the pain again. So let’s twist the knife again, dig it in just a little deeper, just like we did before.
So, yeah. Pete is his own muse and i truly do think that that is heavily reflected in this song, even this whole album. A lot of songs in smfs seem more him-centered, because he is the writer and he is talking about himself. So Good Right Now and What  A Time To Be Alive are especially good examples of this.
And the interesting thing about the title is that it’s pulled from a Frida Kahlo quote, which goes like this:
“I am my own muse. I am the subject I know best. I am the subject I want to better.”
And isn’t that just it? This whole album, it’s an album of self discovery and going back to your roots and staying current anyway. It’s patrick pulling pete out of his funk and getting him back in the game; it’s an exploration of a new style, a new fall out boy. And like a phoenix, every album they rise again, still the same but somehow completely brand new. The orchestral arrangements displayed in IAMOM and SMFS and LFTOS showcase this, the new feeling but still the same, something bettered, and I’m really, really happy with how far they’ve come not only in their expansion of music but also with themselves. And I feel like this song and this title- I Am My Own Muse- is really a stand up, it’s a show of how far they’ve come. Because they are the subject they know the best.

i can't remember if you've done a peterick reading of bob dylan, but im interested to hear your thoughts nonetheless if you're up for it?
I have never done a full analysis!
Someone brought up the "you and what army" line, and I have to admit that line always makes me think of Peterick. Like, it's totally Them against The World, and they know that if anyone ever challenges one of them, the other one is right there.
"Nobody will love you like I do" is such a true statement for these two, because no matter who else they might love in their lifetimes, or who might love them, nobody else will be exactly this kind of creative soulmate. It's simply impossible. Pete said it himself when he found Bebe to work with, that he could never replaced Patrick. Patrick has never even tried to replace Pete, he knows he couldn't. Their lives can be full of tons of other people, but nobody else will ever be what they are to each other, because that kind of thing is once in a lifetime, and they know it.
To me the "holy mountain" line is Pete talking to himself: Stop being such a drama queen about all of this. Your shame is going to get blasted all over billboards, but it's okay: the only way out is through.
The chorus is quintessential pining Pete Wentz lyrics of the post-hiatus era. "I love you desperately, do you love me back?" "When people say 'you and what army,' you're my army. Nobody will ever love you the way I love you. I know that everybody loves people like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, but could you love me like that? What do you think?"
The second verse: What fates do we share? (Scar-crossed lovers.) Windows down, wind in your hair. That image of driving along a highway together is such a Peterick image to me, since so much of their relationship is spent driving together, and it always conjures the line in "Favorite Record" about confessions riding shotgun (and by extension that line in the "to you" poem). And "no one ever thinks of you as much as I do, not even you," is a line that (a) always just objectively kills me; and (b) is sooooo accurate for Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump, like, there is no way anyone in the universe thinks as much about Patrick Stump as Pete Wentz does, not even Patrick Stump lol. Patrick doesn't think about himself half as much as Pete so determinedly does all the time ugh.
These lyrics always strike me as so longing, full of dedication and desperate for that love back in return, as big and as grand as the loves he's giving out, and so worried that it's not there. (I think he feels more settled about it now.)
To me the most confusing lyric in this song is: Nobody will ever love you the way I do, I guess that's half-true. ...What is half-true???? That line has always perplexed me.
(I also think this song is very fan-coded, too: "Okay, I know we're no Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash, but could you love me like that?")

"atlas you ever think about how you saw this one live?" lu bestie you bet i think about getting the rat a tat live debut Constantly like. absolutely insane song to live debut at the last show, insane song to witness live i can't believe it happened. same with you and alpha dog though like... they love us <3
I'm SO grateful I got Alpha Dogged bc like. INSANE. on the same night that Pete Wentz told Patrick Stump "as you wish" live onstage in front of me, @theladyjojogrant, and all of Orlando. but something about Rat A Tat... singing "are you ready for another bad poem?" on the last night of the best tour they've ever done... something very fall out boy forever about that to me. and like, "remember me as I was not as I am"... it's just, no, we'll remember them HAPPY, as they are now. not to mention the parallels in the second verse of Rat A Tat all the way back to Hum. something something healing tour, yknow? towards the end of tour they started doing this thing where they were talking about the hiatus more in such a condensed period of time than I think they really have very much before? and it was all offhand references, 8 Ball intros and the like, but seeing as one of those instances was my show, it really stuck out to me. the healing of it all, yknow? all of it culminated together at the end, all the healing and the joy and the looking forward into the future. it's Patrick saying he wants to do, like, 20 more albums, write music to Pete's words for as long as they physically can. no matter how obsessed you've been with your own vanishing, there will always be someone who wants you whole. are you ready for another bad poem? Fall Out Boy forever. yknow?

Well, let's start (sorry in advance for my english 'cause it's not my native language)
I am hardcore Petekey truther and I believe that Pete had a crush on Patrick but Patrick is too straight for all of this. (I had a crush on my best friend before we became best friends and I can feel what Pete feels, you know) This is an initial point of my theory.
Pete Wentz was totally obsessed with Mikey Way in 2005-2007 while also was crippled by hard depression at 27. Mikey wasn't in love with him back, I think they had "friends with benefits" kind of thing as Mikey thought about it, but Pete was totally in love. "monster fall in love with a boy with no heart? actually i’m pretty sure you have a heart, but i’m just as certain it’ll never be mine." Oh I hate Pete's posts so hard I can't stop crying about those over and over again.
But before Summer of Like, Pete was obsessed with Patrick. It was a love at first sight, all of that "socks, shorts and an argyle sweater" thing. They hadn't any sexual relationship 'cause Patrick didn't want any relationship except friendship with Pete but Pete wanted everything. "It’s Not a Side Effect of the Cocaine, I Think It Must Be Love" is about it. "I’ve Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth" is partly about it. Pete wanted to come out (as bi I suppose) but it was 2005 and he couldn't afford to. And Patrick didn't want him. He loved him as a friend already but nothing more, but he was too shy and supportive to totally reject Pete's love. It isn't healthy thing at all but sometimes friends who really love you back but only as a friend do this for your mentally unstable ass. It's not the same thing as some "friend zone" stuff 'cause this person actually loves you back but not romantically and just don't want to break your heart. This isn't healthy but sometimes it's the only right choice to make.
Pete Wentz was smoldered over Patrick Stump for years and then Summer of Like happened so Pete flared up for Mikey Way.
So when we figured out all the things about this situation in general, let's finally talk about G.I.N.A.S.F.S.
As a person who ships both Petekey and Peterick I've been thinking about this song a lot. I love Pete's poetry and love to overanalyze it again and again, so in my desire to understand this song I decided to start from most obvious line "Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns" 'cause, you know:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I started to think about this song in the prism of this line. Like all other Pete's songs, this one is about his mental state. This is the most loved thing about Pete's poetry to me - this man cannot write "just a song", all of them are so personal. So, Pete wasn't mentally stable at all, the second verse and a bridge clearly said about an attempts and since all about Pete's attempts is really unclear, I still think that logically you in "you saved my life" was Patrick just 'cause he was around at this time in contrast to Mikey. So I can only speculate about "Photo-proofed kisses" line, I can, but I don't really want to, at least here and now.
Well, okay, let's figure out the chorus. In the prism of all future lyrics about Mikey Way, "It's a strange way of saying that I know I'm supposed to love you" isn't about him 'cause Pete still loved him really hard for this point. So if we come back to "Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns" we can imagine Pete thinks about how easily for him was to fall out of love with Patrick and it's bothering him. I mean, it really kinda devastating when you realize that you actually didn't love someone as hard as you thought you was after you fall into someone else so much harder. Also, I think that Pete was really obsessed with desire to come out in 2004-2005 and it reinforced his love to Patrick. What I'm trying to say - on this point (2004-2005) if Pete would crush on any other guy he would think that it's a love of his life just 'cause this is what happens when you really want to come out. You need an excuse. But it was Patrick, he had a long-term crush on his best friend Patrick, and then when he realised that he wasn't the love of his life (at least, you know, romantically) it was devastating. Also, I think that the second half of the second verse is about that too in a way of "I loved a concept of our relationship more than I actually romantically loved you". You know that feeling when you think about people that you formerly non-reciprocally loved as about your exes even if you actually never were in a romantic relationship? I mean this kind of feeling.
So to sum up, I think that G.I.N.A.S.F.S. is about Patrick but in the prism of Pete's full-time falling into Mikey. That's it, that's my theory. If I confused you even more with it - I'm sorry, you can keep asking leading questions and I'll try to answer. It's not really easy for me to formulate thoughts about all of it even in my native language actually.

First ..Love you a lot author for amazing fic VegasPete you gifted us..Second I wish to ask if we will see again Vegas top Pete..Thank you🤗🤗
hey anon! thank you so much! i have actually answered this one before- and its a part of petes journey of both self acceptance and potential healing from all of his trauma so yes pete will eventually decide that he wants to change positions and try bottoming.
but that's something that can't be rushed. its going to be a while before theyre even there yet (especially with vegas' injuries now) eventually they will have it all figured out where theyre just the verse couple who likes to screw the hell out of each other at any opportunity- as they were always going to be lol
