Not surprised since this is the site that only talks about racism and thinks it’s a big deal when they see it demonstrated in the cartoons and comics they like *coughs* dungeonmeshi *coughs* (for example at least. I haven’t seen THIS many white ppl talk as in depth about racism on here as much as these fandom nerds, man. I stg. Like “Ohhhh, so you all DO acknowledge that racism is real? Just not in real life even if you could feel it slapping you in the face at high speed. Gotcha.” It’s crazy.

Tumblr is like, 90% white and is extremely centered around them. That’s why you barely see stuff that’s important to black and brown people ever trending here or being talked about. It has to be something incredibly huge to the point where even white people can’t ignore it like they usually do, to talk about it here.

They only talked about George Floyd here because the topic of his death became world news. Even people in other countries were talking about it. Before him, it was probably Ferguson and Trayvon Martin… most of them are still trying their best to ignore the genocides because it’s a “touchy subject.” What do you expect from white people who live in their own bubbles of comfort and refuse to pop it with a needle??? They find comfort in their privilege and faux ignorance (they love playing stupid to avoid conversations about important things outside of fandoms like, are these mfs born with half a brain dedicated to fandom or what.) That’s literally all these mfs make a big deal out of, especially on this annoying ass platform. The ao3 mfs will go to war for the site that allows racist ff and cp like it’s no big deal. I wonder how many people here even donated to the site while actively scrolling past dono posts from folks who really do need help. They act like they’re doing a civil service by defending this site that makes over the amount of it’s intended dono goal in minutes.

Then you already know as soon as you even bring up racism in the stuff they like, they start ganging up and harassing black bloggers especially, calling them TERFs and the whole nine. Anything to make that person look bad for being concerned about the racism that they have such an intense aversion to. God, it’s absolutely exhausting knowing that these people would have no problem choosing a cartoon character over your entire existence if they COULD. Isn’t that fucking sad, man?

concert tickets are not an investment. hate how everything in this economy we’re like ‘ooh what if I buy it cheap then hike the price up and resell’ and it’s perfectly normal—it’s not. it’s not okay. what’s happening is you’re taking advantage of someone who’s really desperate to see this artist when if they wanna spend that money on the artist, the money should go to the artist themselves. who probably don’t change as much as they could because they’ve set a price that is financially sustainable for themselves and accessible to most who want to go not just the wealthy or those who don’t spend money on any other artists. and I’m not talking about if you can’t go to your concert and resell your ticket closer to it for like 25% more to get a bit back for all the time you spent waiting in queue for a concert you don’t even get to go to. the reason concert tickets are so hard to get is because there are people competing to buy them who are just gonna resell them for absurd amounts of money and honestly? as concertgoers and fans of artists we deserve better. our artists deserve better. they didn’t put a middleman in there. we don’t need it.

but in all honesty: i think we should be cognizant of how we speak about writers and artists even if we disagree with what they’re doing with their stories, characters, work, etc. it’s okay to dislike and disagree with the direction they’re taking, but i think it’s harmful to belittle their hard work, integrity, and intelligence. i mean it’s one thing if they’re spewing hatred or doing harmful things irl—but i’m talking about simply within the realm of fiction and art. i know i would be very upset if people said i was stupid and unfit to write simply because i took a story in a direction they didn’t like; i’d venture to say that many other creators would feel the same way. that’s all!

sometimes when it comes to groups/bands I hope that the friendship survives and lives on, over the band itself. that they are given the capacity to take the breaks when they need to and stop when they need to, in order to give themselves and their relationships longevity. because i think that a large part of what makes being in a group or a band special is experiencing it all with the rest of your members and while every individual will have a unique view, it’s experiences shared for all the good and bad, and I sincerely hope they all get to hold on to that connection. which maybe is too optimistic or too idealistic, but art created and let out into the world will survive for better or worse. it’s the people and friendships that will take the most work, face the most obstacles, but yet capable of existence long after the music stops. so while I wish groups and bands long careers and happiness in their art, I hope they get to hold on to each other if they choose to, too. I think it’s something so special to find people not just to share art with, but to create with, too.

i know you’re always gonna get rude and inconsiderate people of all ages at concerts and in theatres but i really do think that ever since the pandemic, etiquette in places like these has just disappeared.

it’s gotten to the point where im reluctant to watch any movies under an 18 at the cinema because kids and teens just don’t know how to behave. they’re on their phones and taking loudly amongst themselves throughout the movie, treating the movie theatre like their living rooms and rudely talking back at other viewers and staff who ask them to be quiet.

and then at musicals you have young people screaming the song lyrics at actors performing live, not understanding that this isn’t a concert and you’re not supposed to be a participant.

idk, it’s like they don’t know how to just be an audience anymore.

i already look like a child and i think i also act childish because i have quite little life experiences therefore i don’t think i’m mature enough. i used to hate this so much because everyone thinks i am much more younger than i actually am but also i think like… who made those stupid rules that at the age of x i have to act like this, wear like that and at the age of y in other way? for instance people always make comments about me like how i don’t dress girly enough or i don’t use makeup to fulfill gender roles. i’m getting older and i’m not woman or mature enough for them which is frustrating. why for a woman, getting older means ‘taking care of herself’ which for them means wearing that certain clothes or behaving in a certain way. this is stupid

I have no idea when the FUCK I’ll write for Big O despite the fact two of my irls I already got to watch getter with wanna watch it adjust next to my internal struggle of “my ass can ONLY ever write getter stuff and finish” and I don’t have a solid idea for a fic even if I’m rotating a lot of stuff but one thing I GOTTA say I love about Roger that could be applied to fics that idk if anyone done because I’ve been slacking on reading the fics in the tag is the fact he’s legitimately such a easy character to write in first person given he narrates almost every episode. Roger isn’t even my favorite character from the show-but I still like him ofc-but he’s probably the EASIEST one to grasp in writing thanks to this detail, because we always get a bit of a introspect into his mind. How he thinks, how he feels. Makes all the psychological shit that happens to him later all the more impactful.

When I think about Mikey, this scene always comes to mind.

As soon as they step foot in the library to save Mayhem, Angelo instantly disqualifies himself…hilariously.

On first watch, I found it interesting that he made this decision with no hesitation, especially given the stakes.

At the time I just resigned to him being a silly silly boy, but now I know better.

Yet, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s explore who Mikey is.

Michelangelo Hamato is the youngest turtle in the family, and it shows.

Consequently, he seems to possess a certain “youngest brother privilege" that his other brothers just can’t help but reinforce. This is the role that Mikey was born into. Therefore, he doesn’t have to push himself to be the smartest, or cleverest, or strongest turtle.

Instead, he decides to be the artist of the family. He’s a creative! He expresses himself everywhere, from stickers on his own shell, to tagging the lair, as well as on paper. The world is his canvas!

Michelangelo also expresses himself in virtually everything he does, so it’s easy to understand why he’s the most open, honest, caring, and emotionally expressive turtle of the bunch. To some it could be seen as a weakness, yet Mikey uses his emotional intelligence as a pillar of strength, of which he utilizes to uphold his brothers when they need support the most.

In the show, Michelangelo often takes on certain personas; Doctor Feelings and Doctor Delicate Touch. (For some reason, they are all doctors, but that’s beside the point.)

At first glance, the personas could be seen as silly bouts of make-believe. But I think that placing these roles upon himself for his brothers' sake is Michelangelo’s way of helping them cope with the world by offering them what they each individually lack.

For instance, Raph, Leo, and Donnie have trouble voicing their discomforts when someone does something they don’t like.

In other words, they have trouble putting their foot down.

But here is Mikey to the rescue!

Dr. Delicate Touch has no such hang-ups.

Similarly, when Donatello runs into trouble, as he is unable to recognize his own emotions, it’s up to Doctor Feelings to help his desperate client in need.

Through taking on these roles, Mikey is able to support his brothers and fill the emotional gaps in his teammates, which, inevitably makes them all stronger.

How is Mikey able to do this and how does he have the strength to take on these roles?

You could think that it’s just in his character, meaning, it’s just how he is. I don’t think so, though. He’s a free thinker, and a creative, but there’s something about these roles that is specifically catered to the needs of his family.

Then I realized, the only reason that Mikey is able to help his brothers in this way is because they first helped him.

Let me explain.

All four of the boys grew up in the same household. Although Splinter tried his very best (there is no Splinter hate here), a single depressed parent doth not a stable child make. Raphael struggled with the burden of his responsibilities as an ad hoc leader (see Being Big Red), Leo struggled with expressing his natural talents as a middle child (see Being Baby Blue), all while Donnie struggled with carving out his place on the team and his feelings of uselessness (see Being Purple Part One and Part Two).

Well, what does Mikey struggle with?

In my humble opinion, nothing.

The struggles of his brothers all related to each turtle coming to terms with themselves and coming to terms with their place on the team.

Yet, due to the love and support of his brothers and father, Michelangelo never had to ask himself if he belonged, struggle with his role on the team, or make huge life-changing decisions that could affect everyone.

Michelangelo is free to just be Michelangelo.

And as a free spirit who is completely in tune with his own emotions, he is able to do things like this:

Let’s get back to the scene in the library.

Angelo sees the high stakes of his friend’s pet disappearing forever if they fail but makes the decision to disqualify himself anyway. Why? Because he knows that no matter what he does, it will all be ok.

He has complete faith in his brothers and their ability to solve the problem at hand, so he might as well have some fun.

This not the first time he’s come to this conclusion.

Through out this entire scene, Michelangelo plays in the background.

It’s scenes like this that makes me believe that Mikey’s faith in his family knows no bounds.

Altogether, his brothers and his father were everything he needed to become who he is. Reciprocally, he is free to be everything that they need him to be and more. Over…

and over,

and over again

he trusts them completely.

And through this unwavering trust in his family, he is able to trust himself and his instincts. He knows that with everything they’ve poured into him, he can save them from, well, everything. Over…

and over…

and over again.

Hence, due to all of this evidence, I believe that through the collective love of his family, Michelangelo became the best version of the Hamato spirit, and thus, the best Mystic Warrior of all time.

All because, he’s Orange, baby!

JSTOR has blood on its hands. just learn how to draw with your feet or mouth. typing words into a machine isn’t art. i wish it was a trend to go to the library. there’s no humanity or authenticity in AI. put your name into this generator and see what weird abstract thing you get! i hope CGI artists unionize, they are so clearly crunched and way underpaid.

this took months to make, isn’t that admirable? this only took a few seconds to make, there’s no soul in it. this was captured in fractions of a second, aren’t moments of humanity so beautiful yet fleeting? not everyone can make art. art is a luxury commodity and not everyone can afford it. creative hobbies are so valuable for your wellbeing, humans are meant to express themselves.
