Vash the Stampede

Given that Vash is... Vash, there was no way either of you knew if you could even get pregnant in the first place.

Seriously - no known plant/human hybrids existed, so the two of you never really thought much of it. You both just kind of assumed hybrids couldn't exist because plants couldn't reproduce with humans

Well, how WRONG you both were

But of course, because neither of you knew it could happen, neither of you caught on when you eventually started feeling nauseous, throwing up at random points in the day and feeling gently under the weather

110% you and Vash both were like "aww dang a cold? That sucks" and Vash would cuddle you lots to try and make you feel better cause he just thought you were sick

You also didn't let this sudden "sickness" slow you down - you kept working hard, on the run with Vash and the others, moving constantly, sleeping under the glow of the worms in the warm sand, hauling your weight and then some as the group continued to travel across No Man's Land

However, what you hadn't anticipated was suddenly not being able to do as much as you used to be able to - suddenly the sun beating down on you was too much, the heat overwhelming, and before you knew it, you had collapsed

Vash and the others were definitely concerned, but the concern turned to confusion and disbelief when they accidentally got a look at your stomach when your shirt had ridden up as you sat up once you regained consciousness - your stomach was SWOLLEN.

Everybody was a bit freaked out, you very much included, until you started to put the pieces together - your "illness", your sudden inability to tolerate things as you had before, your stomach swelling

"Vash... I-I think I might be... pregnant?"

Honestly, I think Vash would be stunned at first but once he realizes that what you're saying makes sense (and after the confirmation of a doctor from one of the nearby towns you guys travelled through), he'd be DELIGHTED

Would be the type of husband/partner who would never let you carry anything heavy anymore, hovering over you protectively, always worrying and making sure you were comfortable and not endangering yourself or your baby

"You need to rest, (Y/N)! You're growing a whole new being, you and I have gotta make sure you're taking good care of yourself now!"

Would give you ankle/foot massages A LOT to help with discomfort

Vash would definitely spend a lot of time talking to your tummy as it grows bigger, pressing soft kisses to your stomach and caressing it gently

Vash would be excited but TERRIFIED simultaneously to be a dad - so much sadness, death and regret followed him everywhere he went, and he was terrified to bring you into it, let alone an innocent child

You would have to comfort him and reiterate that you were in it together and that you think he'd be a wonderful dad

Also, because Vash is a plant and they age rapidly compared to humans, the pregnancy would be faster than a traditional human pregnancy

Vash has seen births before, especially given how long he's been around, so that part of it all doesn't make him nervous. The fact that now, it's HIS child, THAT makes him nervous

Would absolutely cry during the birth of your twins, partially out of fear, partially out of joy, and also partially because you'd gripped his hand so hard that you'd likely broken several of his fingers (oops)

Borderline passed out when they told him there were TWO babies - he wasn't expecting that at all

IDK why but I can see him being a dad to either twin boys (like him and Nai), or 1 girl, 1 boy.

It doesn't matter though, cause Vash would love your babies from the moment they let out their first cry, the reality hitting him - he's a father now.

Would give anything to protect you and his children - you're his world. His family. <3

Nicholas D. Wolfwood

Unlike Vash, you and Wolfwood absolutely knew that pregnancy could happen

You and him both were sorta neutral about it - not actively trying to prevent a pregnancy, but not actively trying to conceive either.

"If it happens, it happens," Wolfwood said with a shrug when you brought it up to him

And so, you two just went about your lives together as always.

Of course, neither of you really bothered to keep tabs on your pregnancy status because you were busy travelling (and being on the run) with Vash and the others

Everything was as it usually was, with the group trying to escape from another disastrous clash with a police force of some kind, bullets flying past you all

You were hiding behind a corner, covering Wolfwood as he managed to fend off the cops coming after Vash and the rest of you, when a stray bullet struck you in the side, causing you to cry out and fall back

"(Y/N)!" You heard Wolfwood scream out your name, but you couldn't seem to see where he was anymore

Before you knew what was happening, the world went black

When you woke, your eyes opening to bright light, you quickly gasped and sat up only to cry out from the sharp pain in your side

Wolfwood was by your side, a deep scowl on his face, but you could see in his eyes that he was scared

"Mornin', sweetheart, nice of you to rejoin us in the land of the living."

Once you were more fully awake, the doctor came in to speak with you and Wolfwood, cheerfully reporting that "Thankfully, the bullet missed anything important, and the baby is just fine, too."

Umm, what?

Both you and Wolfwood choked slightly on your own spit as the doctor said that, with you coughing out "What baby?"

Yup, turns out you were pregnant and had been for a little while already at that point

From that point forward, Wolfwood becomes EXTREMELY protective of you, refusing to let you walk in front of him or even stand in front of him (he plans to use his body to protect yours if something bad happens)

He'd do his best to smoke less and not do it around you because it isn't good for the baby (he's trying hard but he still forgets sometimes)

Wolfwood would be the kind of guy who outwardly seems very relaxed and unphased by the situation but secretly has tried to read through every parenting book he could get his hands on

And when it's time for you to give birth? Listen, Wolfwood has seen a lot of things in his life, but he was NOT expecting birth to be that gruesome

Would become very pale, sweating profusely before dropping like a stone, out cold

Comes back to life when your baby begins to cry, announcing their arrival into the world

You would witness a rigid man bend and soften in front of you - you'd see Wolfwood's gaze soften and a genuine smile appear on his face as he holds your and his baby in his arms, a tiny hand wrapping around one of his fingers

Love at first sight for Wolfwood - he never thought a family would be something he wanted, but now that he has one? He's never letting go of it

Until the doctor announces that the second baby was coming

Thankfully the nurse had enough sense to take your baby from Wolfwood's arms shortly before the doctor announced that because he ended up back on the floor, out cold again

Kind of a wuss around childbirth but he loves his babies (and you) more than anything else in his life

I can definitely see him as a dad to twin girls (idk why he gives me girl dad energy)

I think this request is so cute, I'm an artist too (have been for like, over a decade ^_^) so I've got lots of ideas in that aspect. I tried to keep to general sketching/traditional stylings of art but I think a lot of these can be applied to other art areas too!!

Vash, Wolfwood, and Knives x Reader: Artistry

Content Warnings: None! Reader doesn't have a specified gender, and some parts of the imagines are a little romance-oriented but this could also be interpreted as a strong friendship. Also this is my first mutli x reader so I hope the formatting's alright. No version was in mind for any of these so take them as you will!

Vash

Oh, he is definitely excited about this.

Vash is a bit of an artist, himself. He can do those super-complex technical drawings, and he really likes making art of machinery and stuff like that. There's a lot of diagrams of his arm lost in a notebook somewhere.

He loves to see your style and interpretation of the things around you. Seeing the world through your eyes, even for just a moment, is like heaven to him.

If you ever give him some of your art as a gift, he keeps it hung up on a wall or wherever he can stay for a while. (If he's in a more permanent place, his walls are covered in your art. He just loves it that much.)

The ones that are most special to him, he likes to keep in his pockets, so he can look at them whenever he needs a morale boost. Like, this is what he's fighting for: a world full of love and peace, a world that's able to keep creating beautiful art like this for years to come.

One day, the two of you get to draw each other as a sort of practice. Seeing each other through the others' eyes... again, it feels like a dream. Vash draws all the parts of you that you weren't always confident about with such care that you feel truly loved by him in that moment.

Wolfwood

"Oh, yer an artist? ... Can ya draw me?"

Yes he will absolutely pull that stunt at least once or twice, if only to get a hilarious dirty glare out of you. If you do actually take him up on this, he might let out a nervous "Haha... I mean, ya didn't have ta' do it, but..." He'll be really charmed.

Though his hands are strong and nimble from doing all those flippant tricks with the Punisher, he's entranced with the way you're able to use yours to create, to draw.

He's always sneaking you extra supplies, like pens, pencils, and paper, whenever you least expect it. You never have to ask for any of those things anymore, or even shop for them--they just happen upon your desk whenever you think you're running low.

One day, he takes a piece of your paper and a pen and doesn't let you see what he's doing until he's all done. He's a little dodgy about showing you, eventually he does. It's a crude scribble of the two of you, though you can tell he really put his all into it.

It's your most prized possession, and you give him a big hug for it.

Knives

Much like Vash, he's actually an artist himself--but doesn't really call himself one, rather saying that he's... capable of copying something he's seen part-for-part. So, his drawings are more like pictures or prints. They're exact. Eerily so.

The art that you make gets a half-hearted snort of approval from Knives, which is basically one of the highest praises he can offer in his own sort of language.

Though normally he'd want to give some sort of unwarranted criticism for a drawing looking wonky or off, he saves you from it. He doesn't want to break your passion--but he's not going to admit that outright.

If you do ask for criticism, though, he's very thorough while keeping you on the road to improvement. If you're studying a specific style, he's reading up on it. If you're trying new materials, he's making sure you have all the tools necessary for it.

And speaking of materials, he's able to secure uncommon colors and rare tools for you to use for art. He's making sure that everything you create is of the highest quality.

One day, you drew a portrait of him and presented it to him as a gift. He gave out that little snort of approval and maybe even a a tiny "Thanks..." as he wandered off. He secretly keeps it close to look at it in his private time, tracing his fingers over the ink marks and recalling your movements.

Skin Writing/Drawing Soulmate AU Headcanons

Vash

He was absolutely scared out of his mind when he first saw the ink appear on his skin. He even went as far as to try to scrub his skin raw, and the ink was still fresh as ever. Poor blondie is wondering how the hell something like this is happening.

Meanwhile, you’re doodling like there’s no tomorrow with your ballpoint pen, tracing the outlines of your veins and doodling smiling faces.

Over time, Vash learns to just accept the random appearance and disappearance of drawings across his body. At the end of the day, it’s like a fun little game to see what’s been sketched on him underneath his turtle neck.

It takes a while for Vash to realize that it’s his soulmate doodles appearing on his skin. Warmth floods his heart each time he thinks of this, causing him to lovely trace the marks across his own skin.

He would laugh sometimes at the sudden ink smear appearing on his skin before new sketch marks appeared, your work hypnotizing him. He especially loved when you used different colors, almost painting his skin like a canvas. Eventually, he makes the move to respond.

So imagine your surprise when you find a poorly drawn flower appear on your skin. Ensue the same panic Vash experienced when you remembered you didn’t draw that.

Wolfwood

Scrubbing his skin did nothing. Seeing the scripture on his forearm made him wonder if he had perhaps gotten too drunk the night before and had gotten a tattoo.

The fancy calligraphy was choice, especially with that proverb. For the lips of the adulterous woman drop honey, and her speech is smoother than oil. Wolfwood decided that there could be worse things etched into his skin from that old religion.

You, on the other hand, were giggling to yourself. Oh, the irony of something appearing to beautiful but naughty. A snort escapes from one of your nearby friends.

He didn’t put anymore thought into it until the next day when the ink disappeared. Lowkey, thought he was super dehydrated for him to imagine that, but nope, even after drinking tons of water, the ink was no longer on his skin.

Cue some praying. He nearly has a heart attack when more ink appears on his skin. He has to go back to the orphanage and ask the elders for help on understanding the situation. Turns out it’s a soulmate thing, one which they didn’t even bother to mention until now.

Overtime, he appreciates the calligraphy he appears on his skin, particularly when new motifs appear. Wolfwood liked seeing you test new things and watch as the ink appear on his skin.

However, he was very glad to wear long sleeves when you would write down a particularly dirty proverb like 5:19. He would always end up blushing a bright red like a tomato, a huge contrast to his normal, stoic personality.

Imagine, your surprise when you notice fresh ink on your skin. For your ways are in the full view of the LORD in basic script.

Knives

He almost didn’t see the script appear on his arms, the ink nearly blending into his suit and pale skin. His fingers traced the letters he could make out. Knives immediately knew what this meant, it was his soulmate reaching out- most likely not knowing what was happening.

He tried to ignore it the best he could and kept himself covered with his cloak. Having someone would just drag him down, make it harder to reach his goal of eradicating humanity. However, his curiosity got the best of him.

Taking another look, the bleach blond quickly recognized the letters as chords with their denoted accidentals. Luckily for him, he new how to play. It was child’s play, really.

Meanwhile, your trying to understand how to play different songs only by listening too them. You were too stubborn to look them up, very confident in your ability.

And so it became a pattern for him to decipher your song you had written on his arm. He would spend hours playing the piano, watching the notes on his arm be crossed out and replaced. The composition rarely stayed imprinted on his skin for longer than a day.

Often, Knives would see lyrics being written with the chords. A little artist are we now? His small joke to himself caused a small smile. He would end up humming them, his low voice cutting through the air. It was for the sake of rhythm, he told himself.

Imagine your surprise when you saw a new. mark you knew you hadn’t inscribed into your skin, a word marked out for another.

“Why don’t you ask Needle Noggin?” Wolfwood huffs, crossing his arms over his chest. He’s trying his best to look indifferent about the entire situation. When, in reality, his chest is fluttering at the thought of helping you cut your hair. There’s a small blush on his cheeks that he’s hoping you can’t see. He’s outside of the inn you’re staying at, smoking under the light of the moon.

You sigh and run a hand through your hair. “I already asked him- he told me to come to you.” You explain. Of course he did. He tries his best to hide his embarrassment by groaning in annoyance. He stands up straight, throwing his cigarette on the ground and crushing it with his shoe. He leans towards you, looking over your features. 

“What about the shorty?” “Meryl? She’s already asleep. Please help me out? Just this once?”

His curious eyes trail over your figure, up to your head. He cocks his head to the side “Why do ya want to cut it anyway? It looks good.” he points out, causing your cheeks to light up. “I just…It’s getting too long. I’m ready for a change, y’know?” You find yourself avoiding eye contact with the man. He’s always making you feel so flustered.

He can’t help but admire your cute little flustered expression. It helps him build the confidence he needs to actually do this. You see, he’s got a little thing for you. He thought you were pretty cute from the moment he laid eyes on you. After getting to know you though, well, his feelings just took off. Doing something like this almost feels a little too real for him, too intimate. Usually he would say no right away, but seeing you under the moonlight… 

After a while he lets out a sigh and nods his head. “Alright fine.” he finally agrees, but there’s a hint of mischief in his dark eyes as he leans closer again. “I’ll trim it up, if I can get a little reward afterwards.” a smirk rests across his features. “Oh? And what kind of reward is that?” You ask, rolling your eyes at his little cocky gesture.

His heart stops for a second. Should he say it? 

Fuck it.

“I’ll trim your hair if you give me a kiss.” he finally says, hoping that the nervousness in his eyes isn’t so easily seen. Your own eyes seem to widen at the comment, red covering your cheeks and ears as you stutter out a little response. It’s adorable, and Wolfwood can’t help but smile.”Okay…” you whisper. Wolfwood turns his head so his ear is facing towards you, cupping his hand around it.  “What was that?” He asks, pretending as though he couldn’t hear you..

You pout a bit and repeat your words., this time a little louder. “I said okay!” He grins and wraps an arm around you, leading you back into the inn. “Well then, let’s go sweetheart.” 

You make your way inside, and to his room where he has you sit down on an old wooden chair in front of him. He grabs some dull scissors, and looks over at you. “How short am I going?” He asks, hovering his hand above your head. Your shrug, keeping your eyes forward and away from him. “Just take a few inches off.” He nods, and gets to work. He starts by combing through your locks gently. It’s so relaxing, he finds himself almost unable to stop. Your hair is so soft- so beautiful. His fingers drag through your hair, separating any knots as gently as he can. You sigh a bit, and lean back, enjoying the attention you’re getting.

He finds himself blushing again. He likes the intimacy of the moment. He finds himself petting through your hair, even after all the knots are gone. “You’ve got soft hair.” he comments out loud suddenly. Even he is surprised by the sudden admission. You let out a soft chuckle. “Thanks.” And the room falls silent again.

Wolfwood shakes his head and grabs the scissors, holding them with a nervous smile. “Well, here goes nothing.” he mumbles before he starts to trim your hair. He works quietly, and cautiously. Careful not to make a mess of your hair. He can’t imagine he would get his kiss if he made you look stupid. He’s done this before plenty of times though. He cuts his own hair whenever it gets too long, and he’s cut Vash’s hair before.

When he’s done, he steps back and admires his work. It’s a little messy, but it doesn’t look back.

“And done.” me murmurs softly. You run your hands through your own hair, and smile. “Thanks a bunch Wolfwood!” you jump up and disappear off into the bathroom for a second, probably checking the damage. When you come back you’ve got a cute little smile on your face. 

“It looks great.” you comment stepping closer towards him. You lean forward, and press your lips against his cheek gently. You pop back and smile cheekily. “And that’s your reward!” You exclaim, cheeks burning pink. You then turn around, and quickly leave the room.

Wolfwood puts a hand against his cheek, his own face bright red. 

“Wow.”

A/N: Hi! Oh my gosh I am so happy you asked me to do this! I can't get over how cute this request is! Hope you like it!

Vash:

Vash absolutely loves the little mini charm/plush you made for him. They are practically inseparable as Vash loves having it by his side. So imagine what happens when Vash realizes his little charm/plush is gone.

When Vash realizes his little pal is not in bed with him, he is in full panic mode. He is thoroughly checking the bed and sheets to make sure he's not smothered or lost within the bed. When Vash realizes his precious item isn't there, the anxiety and panic is in full swing. He is frantically searching his room, the bar, the van, and the city. Vash will search every nook and cranny until he gets it back. More likely, he is retracing his steps from the past day. He checks his pockets, coat pocket, bag, bed, sleeping bag, and any item the little buddy could be hiding.

While searching, Vash will ask everyone if they've seen the little mini him. Everyone except for Y/n. He would hate for you to find out that he lost the one thing you gave him. You practically put your heart, sweat, tears, and love (let's face it, it's the truth) into making the charm/plush. So anytime Vash is asking people if they've seen a smaller version of him, he's also asking this:

"Please don't tell Y/n about this. They worked so hard to give me this, and I would hate for them to know I lost it."

Vash is probably putting on the puppy tears when he says that to someone. He's so hard on himself, and believes that he doesn't deserve any gifts of kindness or sentimental value. As he is searching for hours, he finally gets a tip on someone who spotted the little mini him. Apparently, someone stole the charm/plush from his room the other night to make some money. Vash did not want to believe someone stole his precious item. But after following the person in question, his suspicions are confirmed once he spots a tiny tuft of blonde hair and orange specs.

Vash tracks down the culprit and demands answers. At first, Vash will try to hear the person out on why they stole it. After all, I could have been an accident. It'll probably go something like this:

"Hi there! That item you got there is mine! I've been looking for it all day and so glad you found it! It's a gift from someone special. It'd be great if you can give me that back!" Vash says with a smile. If the culprit tries to make a run for it, Vash will follow. After all, he's the best at running after how many years? Vash is relentless and will easily catch up to the person. He'll grab them by the clothing and will say this:

"I said you have something of mine. Give it back." This time, Vash's smile is slightly menacing. He's not playing games anymore and will resort to combat. Besides, Vash is grabbing the culprit with his prosthetic arm. The arm that can withstand any bullets and crush any solid object effortlessly.The culprit finally realizes he messed with the wrong person. They eventually give Vash the charm/plush back and makes a run for it. Vash is happy and relieved to be reunited with his mini charm/plush. Even the little fella is ecstatic to be by Vash's side once more. “Come on little buddy, let's go eat some donuts!" Vash suggests as he puts it on his shoulder. The little Vash is cheering with joy as it cutely chants donuts!

Wolfwood:

Wolfwood was not expecting your little gift to him. At first, he's wondering why you got him something that isn't cigarettes or a drink. Once he sees the little mini version of him, he's speechless. He's admiring your craftmanship and the details you added. Maybe it’s the inner child in him, but he is in awe of the charm/plush. The poor guy was robbed of many things including his childhood. So gifting this handmade item to him is the equivalent of him reliving something he’s lost. He won't admit it, but he treasures it dearly.

Wolfwood loves to take his mini him with him everywhere he goes. When he attaches it to The Punisher, he feels proud showing it off. Plus, the little fella gets to be part of the action when Nicholas needs to scare off enemies. In private, Wolfwood likes to keep his gift in between his pecs. (He will never admit this, and that is why he will only do this in private). His charm/plush "accidentally" fell onto his chest. The little one loves to reside there and feels safe. Wolfwood found it cute, but like I said he is never going to admit that.

Just like Vash, he is attached to the item. So if Wolfwood can’t find his mini him, he is losing his mind. Wolfwood will check his clothes and Punisher to see if it is hiding in there. If he can’t find him, Wolfwood is dead set on searching for the little guy. This man will tear up the place from the ground up so he can find the little Wolfwood. Whoever is in his way needs to steer clear of him. He will rip any room apart so he can be sure he didn't miss anything. If people saw Wolfwood searching right now, they will immediately run or are frozen with fear.

Wolfwood will just bust down doors and demand answers. He doesn’t care if he’s causing property damage. He lost an irreplaceable item and he’s not resting until he finds it. While Wolfwood is searching, he’s making sure to steer clear of Y/n. If word got around that he lost your gift, he would not be able to look you in the eyes. So when he sees Meryl, Roberto, or any other person he bumps into he'll tell them.

"Not a word gets out to Y/n. Got that?! Unless you want to face my Punisher up close, zip it!"

Wolfwood won't stop until he passes by some stranger. He was going to ignore them until he heard a "Nico! Nico!" This man has never turned his head so fast before. Once his eyes landed on the stranger, he noticed a certain bag is swaying. The stranger shushes it and that's enough to raise Wolfwood's suspicions. He will corner the stranger to a building and ask him. "What do we have here? That's a pretty bag you got there. It's almost as if I can hear it talking," he growls.

Before the stranger could answer, the bag called out "Nico!" once more. Wolfwood flashed a death glare to this person. If looks could kill, Wolfwood would have KO’d the entire city. The stranger gulped as he knew he messed up big time.

“So you decide to sneak into my room. Steal my stuff, and think you can get away with it? You better give me a good reason as to why I should let you live and not send you to hell,” Wolfwood demanded. He then unraveled his weapon and pointed it at the stranger. Wolfwood wasn’t about to play games any longer. He set up his Punisher and had his finger on the trigger. The stranger was trembling like a leaf and threw the bag away. The stranger ran for their life as Wolfwood deactivated his weapon.

Wolfwood opened the bag to see his little buddy pop up. The little one was happy to see Wolfwood and called his name. He grabbed the charm/plush and hung him by The Punisher where he belonged.“Good to have you back too. Let’s get back to our room. Also don’t tell any of this to Y/n, m’kay?” Wolfwood spoke as the little one nodded.

ROMIONE vs DRAMIONE

As a smooth brained child, I didn't really ship Hermione until there was more obvious signaling that she and Ron were end game. The books were coming out when I was literally the age of the characters and kids are easily influenced and don't think critically. Not even going into comphet shipping at that age. I also loved redheads or maybe just the Weasleys? As an adult, Ron kinda sucked as a partner for Hermione. He took Hermione for granted, wasn't really supportive of things that meant a lot to her (SPEW, though clearly she changed his mind based on his later concern for the elves), was generally harsh with his words regarding her until the cruft of their adolescence was really broken away but, in my opinion, Hermione outclassed Ron and Harry in a lot of ways. In this pairing, it feels like Hermione made Ron better but Ron didn't reciprocate that improvement where Hermione was concerned. We can say he made her more approachable but that was him and Harry and just general socialization. It's been awhile since I've read the books so I may be selling my boy Ron short here. But also, as an adult, I see brilliant, amazing women end up with mediocre (but somewhat earnest) men all the time so I guess we were adequately prepared in our childhood.

As an adult, I'm not going to say I ship Dramione but I definitely see the appeal more. Especially where fandom fills in the gap because, contextually, we see them at odds and how Hermione is bold enough to challenge Draco. She (similar to Ron in the above), isn't the only reason the Draco undergoes his necessary character development we see through the story but her audacity, I think, humbles him in a way that's different from Harry. This dynamic is also more aligned with ships I tend to gravitate toward where they're a little antagonistic with a soft underbelly. I'm not saying this question justifies sharing this beautiful animation by @lyrablack1883 but… an excuse is an excuse. 👀

Onto the neon Sorting Hat, I guess!

Bear in mind, I'm largely of the mind that where the other houses are fixed, Gryffindor is open to anyone brave enough to ask/insist so, if you don't agree, that's cool, too. I give the primary i think they'd be in otherwise.

Miaka Yuki (Fushigi Yuugi) - Gryffindor with Hufflepuff underpinnings. It's important to note that the tenderness that Miaka exhibits is not without an edge. She may not be strong but she isn't powerless. She is kind and accepting of others and fair with a sense of purpose when chosen to be a priestess and rises to the occasion. She's still stubborn and, in fact, the flaws that more prominently make her a Gryffindor is what endears her to others (and sets her at odds with Tamahome because she's a brat, let's be serious). Still, with the whole world on its head, Miaka doesn't shy away from her duty and grows a lot along the way.

Tamahome (Fushigi Yuugi) - okay this is a bit of a toss up but only because it's been so long since I've seen Fushigi Yuugi that I'm torn between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, for obvious reasons. Tamahome is loyal to a cause and is subsequently very logical about the means to satisfy that end. Character wise, I just can't determine (or recall, rather), whether he could justify any means to that end. I'm leaning toward Ravenclaw with the loyalty to his family and then the Suzaku Warriors but I'm open to your interpretation as someone who may have seen it more recently.

Narumi Momose (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku) - Ravenclaw. Intuitively, Narumi had a goal in mind and creatively deduced camouflage would be the best means to be successful socially and at work. It's a little dishonest but with earnest intentions. But Narumi is a Ravenclaw in the daffy way the Luna Lovegood is a Ravenclaw. That's not to suggest neither lack intelligence but their focus tends to be elsewhere. Whatever the special interest, they know it all, you know? Good luck trying to be a normie, Narumi.

Hirotaka Nifuji (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku) - Bear in mind I have one season of Wotakoi under my belt. But the biggest indicator for my determination is that Hirotaka managed to hide his crush on Narumi for the full duration of the season. Cool, and nonchalant but the frenzy when his brother almost blew his cover? Slytherin. Mans had a goal all along and while Narumi seemed to fall in line with that out of convenience, it suited his purposes all along and we only see an aberration in his behavior when that was potentially jeopardized. Harmless as the circumstances were, it's giving Slytherin.

Vash the Stampede (Trigun) - Hufflepuff to a fault with sympathy for the devil. He will do what is right, damn the consequences and the risk of personal injury to himself. He was given a life and seeks to protect the lives of others at all cost. This sunshine boy isn't without shadow, driven to offset his brothers' misdeeds, for sure. But Rem, I think, is a stronger guide in how Vash lives his life. He doesn't do it for the glory, it's simply what must be done. He certainly doesn't go looking for trouble the way a Gryffindor might. It just finds him and he tries to resolve it as amicably as possible with a moral compass always pointing due North.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood (Trigun) - SLYTHERIN. Hat's barely rested upon his head and definitively we know that Nicky D will do whatever's needed to get his desired end. Not saying Vash won't make him question himself but, ultimately, Nicholas will do what Vash can't. His morality rests upon a razor's edge and he's learned that the only way to protect the people he love's are by doing the dirty work necessary. With Vash's influence, he may be tortured about it, though.

Reki Kyan (SK8 the Infinity) - Gryffindor with a strong Hufflepuff alignment (is this why Miya warms up to him?). Not only is he earnestly hardworking and kind, the glue that brings everyone together. But he's also brave, punching well above his weight class to stand up to Adam and protect Miya and, ultimately, to triumph over him because of his own brilliance and ingenuity.

Langa Hasegawa (SK8 the Infinity) - Gryffindor with a spice of Ravenclaw. ✨ Naturally skilled and adept skater (after some serious hard work as a boarder), I think Langa wouldn't have wound up pursuing skating at all had he not gotten swept up into it through the series of events as outlined. But, in the new environment, he's able to leverage his previous expertise critically and playfully and ascend to awe inspiring heights. Doesn't mean he's not still a bit of a himbo. Affectionately, Reki and Langa at their core are idiot 🤝 idiot and we love them for it.

here, have some thoughts and things and translation weirdness I find as I re-read ch 4 of Trigun Maximum vol 2

(NOTE: I'm reading the Dark Horse [physical] and the Overhaul [online] translations side-by-side)

(Dark Horse on top, Overhaul on bottom)

some interesting translation discrepancies here - esp "fighting corpses" VS "climbing mountains of corpses"

and it's like...rly striking, how Nightow goes about the part where Wolfwood shoots Rai-Dei. it rly conveys how like...sudden and jarring it is. to think that, just a moment before, we had that heartbreakingly sweet, compassionate bit from Vash to Rai-Dei like "C'mon. Leading a normal life... It's not so bad, y'know."

it's also the first time (or at least the first extreme example of a time where) Wolfwood doesn't take Vash's lead. he goes directly against Vash's (and Rai-Dei's) wishes, and calls Vash naïve for not doing the deed himself. there's so much he doesn't understand about Vash, and I think part of that is him seeing the world through the lens of his own tough situation? like I've said so many times before - Wolfwood is a man stuck between a rock and a hard place.

more subtle difference in wording here, but I think it's notable

same thing with what Vash says to Wolfwood on the next page. in Dark Horse, it's "No matter what you do...you give it up so easily." in the Overhaul, it's "No matter what you do...you give up all hope so easily."

and here, once again, the Overhaul's translation shows us a much softer Vash 🥺

(the next line is basically the same in both translations: "I see a man forcing himself to play the devil while his heart cries out." after that, then, in Dark Horse, Vash says "I can see it clearly in this wind..." while in the Overhaul, it's just "I can see it so clearly...")

then we switch over to Milly and Meryl, and there's this one line one of them (I can't tell which) says after asking if anyone in the saloon is going their way...idk. this translation discrepancy is funny to me. in Dark Horse, it's "Hi, we're hitchhikers in white!" whereas in the Overhaul, it's just "We're hitchhikers!"

and this here's just a little thing I noticed about the terminology/usage of "toma". Dark Horse consistently uses "toma" as both singular and plural. in the Overhaul, however, it seems "tomas" is singular as we see above, and "toma" is plural - 2 pages later, our driver Jessie here (whom I love and cherish 💕) says (in both translations) "What're the toma making all that racket for?!"

so, thinking about it in real animal terms..."tomas" is functionally the same as "cow" whereas "toma" is functionally the same as "cows". you don't say "cows farm" (at least, not in American English) - you say "cow farm".

finally...some more little translation discrepancies, and some speech bubble confusion which the Overhaul clears up for me =u=

Actually I'm thinking about this. They gave Razlo three Punishers but Livio doesn't have any. He also didn't seem to know what those other people were there for. It really comes across like Razlo's violence is their secret most valuable weapon... which makes Livio kind of just an extra, or like the living embodiment of that mask he wears; a living soul who may as well be dead for how he has no place in the world and for how he is treated. Meanwhile, Razlo has only known violence; his only goal is to protect Livio and this is the only way he knows how/finds any value in; they only further affirm his cruelty as a necessity for survival. It's just. Ugh. Way to screw these kids up more.

Sorry I have no words for the part where Wolfwood is thinking about Vash and their philosophies. I just. Augh. Oh, to be irreparably changed by someone who validates what you wanted so badly to hope for but couldn't...

So, as per these headcanons, I can absolutely see Wolfwood being a girl dad to twin girls

He would absolutely pass out during their birth, but he also becomes smitten by them the moment that they're placed in his arms - the two little girls who, in an instant, become the most important thing in his life (asides from and in addition to you)

Wolfwood would be the kind of dad who would outwardly seem cool, calm and collected, always laughing or not taking things super seriously, but inwardly? Man is PANICKING.

It's obvious from the time your little girls are babies - the sweat on Wolfwood's face as he holds them close to him, rocking them so gently as if he's afraid they'd shatter if he moved too quickly too suddenly gives him away

As does the split second of panic that crosses his face whenever one of the girls hits themselves or gets hurt or begins to wail - man is panicking internally and lowkey overthinking things until whichever of his baby girls got hurt is back up on her little chubby toddler legs and smiling as if nothing happened

Sometimes, Wolfwood ends up talking softly to both girls, telling them stories in the dead of night when he's woken up from his own nightmares and can't sleep - it calms his heart and soothes his soul in a way nothing else does

He would never admit to this, of course, so the only way you know this is because one time, you woke up in the middle of the night and Wolfwood wasn't next to you. So, you went to check on the girls, and sure enough, Wolfwood was there, softly speaking to his babies as he gently stroked their cheeks as they slept happily in their cribs, lulled by their dad's voice

You never let Wolfwood know that you knew he did that, granting him that little private moment of peace

As the girls grow older, Wolfwood would happily banter with his girls - they'd be as feisty and more quick-witted than the two of you put together, always getting into some kind of mischief

Wolfwood would be the grumpy kind of dad who his daughters would absolutely try to annoy and tease and poke fun at, even from the time they're toddlers

Like he'd be out on the porch, smoking his cigarette, only for him to hear giggling from around the corner and he sees both of his little girls pretending to smoke too with a piece of chalk or something as the cigarette, just like their dad

"Hey, hey! Cut that out, (Y/N) will skin me if they see you two doing that! You tryna get me killed?!"

He tries to remain calm and collected as he says that, but the girls can easily see through his mask and know dad's panicking and they scurry off, giggling mischievously

Wolfwood's love and protectiveness over his girls is evident to anybody who witnesses him interacting with them

Especially as the twins get older - the glare that Wolfwood would send to anybody who dared get even a little too close to one or both of his girls would be withering

You and Wolfwood both would teach your baby girls to be absolutely lethal if it came down to it - they'd be trained to defend themselves and can absolutely hold themselves in a fight

I feel like the twins would inherit their dad's ability to appear calm and collected even when bad things are going down, and they definitely inherited his smile

It's a bit uncanny when all three of them, Wolfwood and both girls, can hit you with the same smirk (definitely makes you wanna pull your hair out sometimes)

Wolfwood would be so proud of his girls, but he's just a bit too proud himself to show it sometimes (you've definitely caught him getting teary-eyed over something your girls did, only for him to cough and brush you off)

"I'm not crying, the hell you talkin' 'bout, sweetheart? Just got somethin' in my eye!"

Bottom line - Nicholas D. Wolfwood loves his girls more than anything, and would give anything to ensure they're happy, loved, and safe in a heartbeat

It's me yet again!

I think I found heaven here! I had a lot of ideas for emeto sickfics with TriStamp Vash and everything here just keeps adding fuel to the fire!

The road tripe one that anon sent was just 🤌I actually had something similar in mind!

But I was thinking about the food situation. We saw that he needs food even though he is a plant because he is not perfect like Knives. HOWEVER, what I noticed (and it might be just my imagination), he doesnt have the best expression when he was eating in that episode after beating the giant worm. He hadnt eaten since the Jeneora Rock incident and he decided to eat after what Wolfwood said.

But he didnt have an expression of someone who was liking what he was eating but rather eating because he KNOWS he NEEDS to.

So I was thinking, what if Vash really doesnt like food? Like, he feels weird after eating but he just bears with it because he needs to eat. But sometimes his stomach just has too much of human food and makes him sick?

I keep imagining him throwing up later, after eating, lets say in that specific episode, trying to hide it from the others. I dont know, I just can imagine him eating but feeling weird as he chews because food just doesnt sit right with him!

Another thing, I aslo keep thinking about him getting sick when in the road trip with Meryl, Wolfwood and Roberto, like it builds up slowly until he asks Meryl to pull over with that soft voice of someone who doesnt want to give others a hard time 🥺

I swear I have things in storage for a few sickfics with Vash 👀

about the food headcanons: that could totally be the case. he needs to eat, but at such an odd rate not even him knows how his body works. which foods exactly set his stomach off, what he can and can't handle, it's always a gamble. some textures and tastes would set him off too. because of that he might nauseous more often than not, and cautious he might throw up out of nowhere.

imagine him having to reassure someone that he's fine, he's not sick, that just happens sometimes, just give him a minute, and coming back after puking, acting like nothing happened (although he is always a bit shaken by it)

i had a small idea for a fic of him and knives trying to eat regularly, so they can pretend to be humans in case they need to (since rem does tell the kni that anime it could've been the dub i was watching though!) i don't know if the timeline would allow that for the older two though (i wouldn't write anything with them as kids)

oh yeah. that episode gave another idea, a very overindulgent one of everyone getting food poisoning from the worm meat. it does affect wolfwood and Roberto more lightly though, with wolfwood getting seemingly better after puking his guts a couple of times and Roberto just gets a bit a belly ache and that's it. Meryl and Vash are completely messed up, with Vash getting the worst of it. i even had an oc in there somewhere, to compensate for the lack of milly

i need to say though, tristamp vash is much easier to draw than write, while tri.max/'98 vash feels more easy to write, he's so beautifully drawn in the manga, i can't compete.

this here isn't a translation discrepancy - it's a similarity that wasn't there up to this point. this is the first time Dark Horse has referred to Vash's home as a "colony" (whereas the Overhaul consistently calls it that). idk, I thought that was interesting.

ok I adore her tristamp iteration, too, but JTDTNDNGXZ TRIMAX LUIDA MY LOVE!!!!!her dignity and quiet authority and no-nonsense attitude that isn't caustic or anything...! like, her very first line is snapping at Vash for beating himself up, and I just. yes. you tell him, Luida. 🥺

anyway. interesting translation discrepancy here...

this scene's hitting me hard this read-through. Wolfwood's still stuck on their differences in handling life-or-death situations, but rather than argue or try to justify his position or give non-answers like he's done in the past (which I don't fault him for), Vash takes the time to acknowledge the validity of Wolfwood's methods - bc in the end, it saved lives. that's what's most important. furthermore, I think, Vash sees right through Wolfwood, recognizes his ongoing struggle processing Vash's way of doing things (and also either accepting them or reconciling them with his own way?), and apologizes for it. this is made MUCH more clear by the Overhaul's usage of "ideals" ("feelings" in Dark Horse is comparatively vague).

and now, I understand what Vash is talking about in the second panel! he's referring to everything he just said to Wolfwood ("what? my words didn't move you?!") - that's something that went completely over my head reading Dark Horse's translation.

also, once again, it feels like Dark Horse pretties up Wolfwood's speech in a way that doesn't fit the character. I rly like how, in the Overhaul, Wolfwood consistently reads as this cynical and rough, even purposely unrefined teenager or young adult.

(...also also, Dark Horse, why tf did you include "youth" in there?????)

...TODAY, IN MY RE-READING OF CH 4 OF TRIGUN MAXIMUM VOL 1...

beloved new characters! Vash being adorable!! sadness!!! and even more translation discrepancy shenanigans!!!!

let's jump right in, shall we? ;D

(NOTE: I'm reading the Dark Horse [physical] and the Overhaul [online] translations side-by-side)

ok so in the Fall flashback, immediately after Vash lashes out at Knives when he tries to give him a hand to help him stand, the wording of the two translations is slightly different. on the surface, they basically mean the same thing, but. idk. you be the judge. Dark Horse has Knives saying "...what's your problem? You and I are the only brothers we have." meanwhile, the Overhaul has "What is it with you? You and I are brothers. We only have each other."

so then, Vash is like (I'm quoting the Overhaul here, but the translations are p much the same for this bit) "It's all your fault! Rem... Everyone... You killed them all!" and right here, I'm stricken by the way he's kneeling, tears in his eyes, screaming at Knives...grieving and so angry... 🥺

and here's how Knives replies. imo Dark Horse makes him seem just...bad and chaotic, whereas the Overhaul's translation shows that what Knives claims to be his reasoning for his choices is more pragmatic (in part, anyway).

Vash responds with "you're not human!" which he means in a figurative sense, as in 'cruel; without sympathy, pity, compassion, etc.' - but, unsurprisingly, Knives takes it literally, which is where we get our next notable (imo) translation discrepancy. Dark Horse has Knives saying "Exactly!! Don't ever compare me to those faceless vermin!! Don't ever!!" meanwhile, the Overhaul has "Precisely! Like hell I'll be like them! Don't ever compare me to those vermin! Don't ever! Never again!"

oh, the irony in that extra bit in the Overhaul. "Like hell I'll be like them!" ohhhhh, Knives. bby. literal child. you have no idea. 🫣

boozhoo, brother undertaker!!! 🪶 it's so interesting to think about Indigenous ppl like me in this 'verse. how do we navigate this new world? how do we carry on our traditions? how do those traditions change? in any case, it's comforting to see media in which we endure so far into the future...

aaaaaand Vash and Wolfwood get to bickering like an old married couple again. love that for them~ 😆💕

I. would. totally get a tattoo of this panel. jeez, what a cutie.

and the way Vash gets to crying? about how bad the situation with the Polo family and the Fris family has gotten? after 152 years, despite everything, he's still so soft. as an adult, that really resonates with me 🥹

oof, this line from Wolfwood, though (Overhaul translation, but it's basically the same in Dark Horse): "Even people who would never fight will pick up a gun if their loved ones are killed." if that ain't one of the main theses of Trigun, man...

AND THEN WE MEET BRAD!!!!!! oh, but I have a newfound fondness for him =u=

one interesting thing I'd like to note: in Dark Horse, that lil guy we see with Brad is consistently just called "Sensei" - but in the Overhaul, he's "Doctor". I suspect this might have been to differentiate him from the "Doctor" we meet just before Knives' resurrection in Trigun vol 2. anyway, it makes a lot more sense to me, "Sensei" being called "Doctor"...but to avoid any confusion moving forward (and to avoid spoilers), I'll stick with the way Dark Horse refers to the two.

oh and also, in Dark Horse, Vash refers to the place Brad and Sensei are from as "the city" but in the Overhaul, it's "the colony" 🤔

ANYWAY. this exchange between Brad and Sensei over the next 2 pages rly strikes me. it goes like this in Dark Horse:

BRAD (talking to Vash): "Well, I'm sure two years is nothing to you."

SENSEI: "Stop it, Brad. He's not that kind of human."

BRAD: "Hmph. Human!! Human, you say?"

but in the Overhaul, it goes like this:

BRAD: "Well, I'm sure two years is only like a blink of an eye to you."

SENSEI: "Stop it, Brad. He's not that kind of person."

BRAD: "...hmph. Person... Yeah, right..."

'human' VS 'person' - linguistically speaking, the 'person' translation makes more sense. irl American English speakers don't go around saying "I'm not that kind of human" - it's 'person'.

either way, though, it's another illustration of the kind of reservations some humans might have about Vash...

...but here, what *I* have reservations about is Dark Horse's timeline!

last chapter explicitly takes place in February of 0113. that would make Lost July (which happened on July 21, 0104) nine years ago.

oh, Dark Horse, u so silly~

Dark Horse's translation of those two big speech bubbles is "The only one who stood against him all this time...the one who can't leave, who comes back from the dead, is that gentleman, right there." so. whereas Dark Horse frames the conflict as something solely between Vash and Knives, the Overhaul frames it as Knives against humanity, with Vash as the necessary force that comes between them.

and...oof. "Won't you trust me" gets me every. time. 😭

oh, and earlier in the chapter, Brad mentions he met Vash once when he was 4yo. after the exchange above, we learn it's been 13 years since then, which makes Brad 17yo at present! just another timeline thing I'd like to note =u=

the translations are similar enough here, but...idk, I just want to show them both here, bc either way, it's such an important scene for Wolfwood. you really get a glimpse into how he thinks, how he sees the world - not to mention how, as we've seen before, he truly is a man stuck between a rock and a hard place...

...and then we have Vash's response. in the Overhaul, we see that for him, it's not a matter of indecision or taking too much time deliberating, as Wolfwood seems to imply. for Vash, it's "right here and now, there are lives on the line, so right here and now, I'm gonna do something about it."

and now, we end on a silly note: this little panel on the last page of the chapter always confused me. thanks to the Overhaul, it doesn't anymore 🤣🤣🤣
