If you’re gonna care about prison abolition and justice you are necessarily going to have to care about the people who DID do those crimes and just want to reintegrate and live a normal life without hurting anyone. You're gonna have to be cool with the fact that the guy scanning your groceries might’ve raped someone. You're gonna have to relax about the possibility that your bank teller used to be a career criminal. The person sitting next to you on the bus might’ve committed three different murders, and as long as he's not about to commit a fourth right now, that's not your fuckin' problem. People don't disappear from society after they commit crimes, and most of them really just want to live a normal, stable life instead of going back to that. And the best way to make sure they don't relapse is to ensure they're able to live that peaceful life instead of freaking out because the guy next door used to run a dogfighting ring. You don’t have to be friends with them, you don't even have to like them, but you're gonna need to be okay with them existing in society. Sorry.

i believe that to some extent Andre knows he's fucked up and this headcanon is one of the hills I will die on in the farewell tape, Cal says that “you can’t cure somebody who has nothing wrong with them.” 

Andre, on the other hand, admits they might be seen as hypocrites. he's not gonna back out, he still thinks it's the right thing for him to do, but he seems to acknowledge that people will not perceive it the same way. he tries to explain that no matter what it’ll look like, it’s not murder for the sake of murder - not in his eyes at least. there's a (sick and twisted) lesson hidden in this tragedy.

to some extent, Andre is aware of what’s going on with him, what exactly shaped him into who he is now. he sees the cause and effect of being bullied, of feeling rejected and alienated, and not being able to do anything about it because that's just who he is. he can kick and scream and shout but he will never change who he is at his core and this realization is crushing for a 17/18-year-old. this and all the implications of a missing sense of belonging.

he knows he’s messed up. he knows what would fix him and he’s convinced it’s out of his reach. he looks at other students and he thinks: it’ll never be me. and he's angry that they have something he will never have.

his awareness doesn't help though. if anything, it fuels his frustration. what adults know to be a temporary problem (high school) seemed like an insurmountable obstacle, the end of everything.

I think one of the more annoying things is that most people don’t seem to realize that the chapter 5 case was very much Kokichi’s backup plan. He only does it when he literally has really no other option. Before Maki intervened his plan was to use despair to defang the killing game, removing all motive for killing, leaving everyone dejected and miserable, but alive. There’s no reason for him to pull that stunt really. It’s only when he’s in a situation where SOMEONE is going to die no matter what does he engage it.

It definitely was a contingency he planned for, likely one of the reasons for choosing the hangar and why he wrote the script, but it’s pretty clear it was not his main plan or a plan he was going to do until he was pushed far enough into a corner by Maki getting him AND Kaito poisoned. While it’s fucking wild he wrote that whole script for a backup plan, he’s very alarmed and distressed about Maki starting up the killing game, Kokichi would not do a suicide play at this point and restart the game if he had a choice of plans. It just wouldn’t make sense to gamble on it for no purpose if his apathy mastermind gambit worked.

Kokichi’s ideal conclusion would have probably been if everyone just kinda laid around in bed all day depressed. He probably would have been somewhat satisfied in the universe where Maki didn’t burst in at night and the group cornered him with electro hammers. Though he probably would have a separate back up plan for that situation.

Like the fact he planned it at all even as a backup is very telling to his mental state, even as a backup plan it’s chilling he planned his own suicide like that, but I think it’s important to remember that Kokichi didn’t go into chapter 5 with the idea he was going to die as a foregone conclusion. A possibility that he wouldn’t deny as he’s pragmatic like that, but not the plan he was trying to actively use.

The press was Kokichi’s last ditch hail mary back up plan when he has no other options left, not an attempt to escape responsibility or a way to get out of having to deal with being the villain, or a way to get back at everyone, it’s his “Im already dying either way, so let’s give it one last shot” plot. He does not die to escape justice or to spite the v3 cast, but only because he was already dead.

Some day, I am going to write a treatise on how Oliver Quick based the logic for every single one of his choices in Saltburn on things he was actively, verbally told by other characters, and how this is a core character trait for Oliver that culminates in his choice to tell himself who he is by the end of the movie in his monologue to Elspeth's comatose body.

This treatise will also conclusively demonstrate that Oliver Quick is an impatient bitch who only gets more impulsive in his choices as the story goes on, up until he kills Felix and finally can wait as long as it takes to getback to Saltburn, because he finally knows for sure that the one friend he ever had will still be there in the same place and same state Oliver left him in no matter how long he takes to return.

For now, though, I have too many other things to finish and will not let myself be distracted by a project that will definitely take longer than the brainworms try to tell me.

But yes. It is one of my favorite details of Saltburn. If you listen like Oliver does, his logic may be a little mad, but it's not nonexistent. Every single choice he makes can be traced back to something someone says to him, because ultimately that poor lil' gremlin boy just desperately wanted to fit in and had no idea how to do that.

Spiderverse x One Piece AU!

A little something that started as an exercise in character design and then I got a little bit into it lmao

I did design the rest of the East Blue Crew but uh... they were kinda ugly/boring, I put more effort into these two because they're the 💕favs💕

Info, kinda. Honestly I don't have a lot thought out its mostly random ideas that mushed together sort of resemble a well put together au, just like everything I do <3

Nami:

- Spider-Woman of her universe, while her design isn't exactly original I really liked using her orange and blue colors. She has the spider logo on her back because she hates spiders and hates looking at them lmao

- In her universe, her best friend Usopp died when she failed to save him (kinda her "Gwen Stacy" but he was just a friend)

- Has electricity powers, her spidey senses are also really in tune with the climate for some reason

- She has a staff (not pictured) she fights with, and also uses the environment to her favor, not the biggest fan of fighting hand to hand because (compared to other Spider-people) shes not as physically strong

- Has a few enemies and nemesis that she fights, Arlong being the most important/strong one

- She's actually quite happy to know other Spider-people, tho she was kinda shocked when she saw Usopp... It was awkard for both of them...

Usopp:

- The first Spider-man in his world, there are some things of his design I would change (mainly the sweatband, I would change the colors), but I'm actually quite happy with his design. Where does his nose go with the mask on? The same place Hobbie's hair goes, idk..

- In his universe, his best friend Nami died, Usopp failing to protect her

- Uncanny precision with his webfluids, also figths using the environment

- Unfortunately isn't a well received Spider-man 😔, gets complaints about destruction of property or how he's "pretty coward for a superhero"

- Really would rather focus on saving civilians from natural disasters, as he's also not as physically strong (compared to other Spider-people), but it seems every weirdo on the block decided they really need to beat this teenager up, so he also has some enemies...

- Super excited about meeting other Spider-people and finally being able to share life experiences with them, and then met Nami, or Spider-Woman Nami and it was awkard and uncomfortable (but they became besties, bittersweet moment)

Extra stuff from the rest of the East Blue Crew:

- Luffy's spiderman name is Spider-King and the rest of the Spidermans where like "I can't decide if that's the best or the worst name I've ever heard...". Well Usopp thinks it's kinda cool, and wishes he had chosen a cooler name for himself, might be too late for a new signature 🤔, Nami and Sanji think it's stupid, Zoro is undecided

- Sanji does not have a spider logo, even tho his name is Spider-man because he hates spiders

- Zoro is the second Spider-man from his universe, the first one being Kuina, she died and he took her place

- Sanji has fire inmunity

- Zoro carries like 5 extra pockets of web fluids cause he takes "longer routes" (he gets lost a lot)

DAMN. Just finished chapter 17 of Firefight and whooh. I cannot articulate how excited and thrilled I am for this new direction. I love your Death Wish fic and i'll be absolutely damned if I don't continue to love this one with just as much, if not more, fervor. You're an incredible writer. You immerse me in the environments, the sensations, the inner workings, and the emotions of these characters while your words seep both their souls and yours. I really just wanted to tell you how enjoyed your writing is. Death Wish is the length of a decent novel and I've reread it about 4 times, each experience unique and loved because there's always something new and poignant to find in your writing. we actually doooo have a Concept for acswy stonathan which is basically what ends up being their first date! it falls on a very important day in the acswy timeline (for will specifically) and we do have significant portions of the stonathan storyline for this universe mapped out but unfortunately in terms of the other companion fics we have planned it’s very low priority, so we wouldn’t want to promise or hint at that being something we are writing if we’re not sure about it! it would be super fun and we are very attached to our steve and jonathan so maybe once we get everything else done if we still feel the urge to write it it could be a possibility for sure!!
