You ever think about how Ryne probably got a more honest yet closed-off Thancred while Minfilia got a more disingenuine yet open Thancred?
Like, the Thancred Minfilia knew and grew up with was the one we saw in arr, the flirty, teasing and sassy but friendly man who was clearly not very honest seeing as no one- not even Minfilia- noticed how worn out he was from his constant work. Even just by hw he's noticably more prickly and. not quite rude but. more outwardly cynical? He's always been kinda cynical, but in arr his teasing and banter hides it well, which never disappears but is more. natural? genuine? now. Krile directly points out that he's much more brusque than she expected of him based on how Minfilia described him.
And sure, you could attribute that behaviour to his grief and stress (which is certainly a part of it) but considering he acts much the same in ew, when he's finally moved on and come to terms with everything (and is also post-shb character development), I think it's safe to say that this is the most honest we've seen Thancred be.
But this is all Ryne has known him to be. She's never seen Thancred be flirtatious or as social and friendly as he is in arr, she's only seen him be brusque and cynical but still teasing and kind. But he's also far more closed off from her (and others) bc of That Whole Deal going on. Urianger has told her more about Thancred's true feelings than Thancred himself has. and even that's not a lot, for Urianger is not only not a mind reader and doesn't know everything that goes on on Thancred's head, but also is reluctant to share more than is necessary since it's not his place to divulge these things (and also he himself is not free from the folly of emotional self-isolation).
With Minfilia though, he's open enough that she's never doubted that he cared for and loved her even when he couldn't spend much time with her, and she felt comfortable enough to admonish him when he did his usual self-destructive behaviour (you know, becoming an alchoholic at 17 and All That Entails)
Just. food for thought

tonight I’m thinking about how in practically every one of ND’s drawings of Ambrosius and Ballister as young knights/squires, they’re absolutely all over each other. Arms around shoulders, head in lap, Ambrosius jumping onto Ballister’s back or looking over his shoulder at a desk by plastering himself to him. Hands in hair and on waists.
and then thinking about how strange it must be to go from having that all the time to being completely alone

One of the things I've loved since the beginning of A Boss and a Babe is Cher's attitude toward his own too-muchness. He's not clueless, or apologetic, or defiant: he walks around like "this is me, not everyone likes it and that's fine." He's clearly such a people person, but he's very grounded in himself, able to register other people's opinions about him without shaping himself to them. I was just enjoying this about him, not looking for an explanation of how he got there so young, but as of ep 4 we may have one.
There's a thing that happens when you suddenly find a lot of people believing lies about you - specifically, when you realize that no matter how much you try to explain yourself or show the truth, some people will always believe the lies. At some point you just have to kill the part of you that needs to be liked and understood. You have to look at how other people see you, know you can't change it, and live with that.
From what we know now of Cher's history, it seems like he's been through that. He doesn't go home much, when he does he's stared at, his old classmates still seem to believe it was his baby Tian was carrying. So it makes sense to me now that even as young as he is, even as someone who clearly likes people and likes pleasing people, he's already had to learn how to accept, really accept, that some people will dislike him.
The whole experience probably also sheds extra light on why he was so insistent on both defending Gun's reputation and making sure Gun knew he wasn't afraid to be close to him. (Making very, very sure.) He knows what it's like to be wondering what poison has crept into someone else's mind when they look at you, even if they act like everything is fine. That's not going to happen to the boss, not on his watch!

just love hearing kieran culkin talk about succession/roman because he always talks about, like, the process of it and it’s so interesting — the scenes that are kept, the scenes that are taken out, the choices writers made he didn’t agree with, the choices he made that the writers (originally) didn’t agree with…. always really hammers in not only how collaborative the show is in that input from the actors is taken very seriously but also just how much culkin cares about roman like as a character? which i mean ya know all actors do. but culkin always talks about being a fan of the show first and an actor in it second and i think that’s such a huge thing. like, the way he cares about roman isn’t just as the actor playing him, it’s as a fan of the show — he’s approaching it not just from, like, a This Is My Job angle but also from the perspective of a fan who is just genuinely invested in the character of roman and would feel frustrated if they saw him do something that didn’t feel in-line with his character! kc would hate tumblr just like he hates all social media but he would indeed kill it on here

Tenko and Kokichi sibling agenda??
ok well i’ve been rewatching v3 lately and i’ve been Noticing a ton of tenko & kokichi interactions that are so fun. likeeee the part in trial 2 where tenko just kept interrupting kokichi? and then goes “mm no i wasn’t”? tell me that isn’t the most petty sibling shit ever (i have visualized it for you)
the worsties <3
there’s a few more stuff w/ images i wanna talk about so that’ll be under the cut👍
there’s also that bit where they both call kaito stupid and idk that has always stuck with me
and i don’t feel like drawing anything else but also some other bits i think about are when tenko freaks out thinking kokichi wants to start the killing game and he offers her gum, to which she offers to bash his head in. i know average tenko behavior towards men But i think about it anyway (also side tangent i love how kokichi just. Carries sticks of gum with him the entire game and runs out at chapter 4. he is BIG fan of bubble gum. real reason he was so upset that chapter wasn’t because of the motive or miu trying to kill him it was because he ran out of bubble gum /j)
and! this small bit. these are all tiny but they mean so much to me i think they would have an awesome sibling dynamic, such an underrated duo honestly

Obsessed with the dynamic (not romantic, not platonic, but a secret third thing--both and yet neither) between two characters who knew and cared about each deeply years ago when they were both younger and life was much less complicated.
But then, tragic, transformative circumstances separated them. Assuming that this separation was certainly permanent, because how could it not be?
And yet, somehow finding each other again years later, and sometimes they aren't sure whether the reunion that they once longed for with every fiber of their beings is a blessing, a curse, a joke, or a punishment.
Because they've both changed in the intervening years--largely because of the hellish circumstances that caused their separation. They've both changed completely and irrevocably, even if one of them has changed much more noticeably and dramatically than the other to the point of seeming a complete stranger. It is about leaning to see and appreciate all the things that have changed about the other and all the things that have not changed. It's about learning to reconcile beloved, often rose-tinted memories with the complex, yet-equally-compelling reality of the person those memories are about.

we could talk about how hanzo’s rage is a metaphor for his grief and trauma and his title of scorpion represents his difficulty to let go of his anger how he can never stop mourning his past because he refuses to stop mourning and how kuai liang’s taking of the mantle is representative of the ability to move forward rather than be stuck in constant mourning of the brother he lost. we could also talk about how hanzo’s protection over kuai liang was out of guilt of how hanzo could not stop himself from allowing emotion to control him and killing bi-han, and his ability to allow kuai liang to live instead of exacting more blindness vengeance allowed kuai liang to prosper and grow and end the years of rivalry between their clans.

out of everyone in the kalos league, i like to think wikstrom is closest to diantha
not only because he looks up to her as the champion but because even outside of their league duties they just mesh really well together. wikstrom's helped her learn his speech pattern for a role before and she's the only person who knows about his jousting tourney persona
