-The Country disappearing and the events that made colors go away are not related.

-A wish made everyone forget the Country.

I will ALSO say that ISAT's map operates on Final Fantasy/General Fantasy rules (i.e. in-universe locations are based off of real ones when it comes to culture, but are not one to one parallels, especially for geography), so no, the Country isn't based on the UK oh my god please do not say that to me again or im deleting ISAT out of your computers and putting legos at the foot of your bed. It's based on another place. You can figure it out, I believe in you.

Does this question even matter since without Wish Craft you can't attain Time Craft in the first place? (To me, yes.)

Wish Craft smells sweet. Time Craft doesn't have a smell per se, but it does do something.

✨ Does Mirabelle retain her immunity to being frozen in time after the events of the game or does it go away after the Head Housemaiden is saved? Or does it persist for a while and eventually fade away?

I imagine the immunity slowly faded away. But no one's left to do Time Craft, so it's a moot point anyway.

✨ How was Odile able to stop Siffrin from looping back during the fight against Siffrin?

In the Discord channel I stated that it's because "she's just that cool", but really, she does have access to some skills that heighten the efficacity of Rock/Paper/Scissors attacks, so it's not too much of a stretch to imagine she could lower the efficacity of Time Craft as well. In this last loop, while listening to Loop and observing, she could figure out Siffrin was looping way earlier than she could in even the Sus Quest, so she made plans. She is Very Smart <3

Early on, I did think about making that whole event an event that happens during the loops, but quickly let that go since 1. it would be a pain to write and code (two different sets of Siffrin portraits!) and 2. if it happened, the player might want to look for a way to NOT make that happen and so 3. it would be a pain to write and code

Please check the book again during Act 5! This applies to most items/map events by the way, like the pendant. You can check those during Act 5 and 6 for some fun new dialogue!

FINALLY the question. Plus I can say shade names now. White = darkless, Black = lightless. Light and Dark is like light grey/ dark grey. ✨ Are there any bugs you found during developments that you've made into features?

Two! The first one was the ability to ask Loop to just silently hang out during Act 4. I messed up the code and the game softlocked there, with Siffrin and Loop sitting there silently. I thought it was very sweet. They deserve a little quiet time.

The second was in Act 5 - the House map had a lot of issues with the Act 5 map bringing you back to the normal House map. So one of the testers got brought to the normal House map and didn't notice, and interacted with the Mirror on Floor 3, and it gave them the normal interaction with everyone seeing the mirror and taking a picture, and when they went to look at the picture in their inventory, it gave them the actual Act 5 picture. A little bit after they realized the game bugged out, and told me about it, and begged me to keep that in because they were very unsettled by it. So here it is! Beforehand, it was just Siffrin silently taking a picture, so I'm glad I changed it.

✨ Did you ever have emotional difficulty writing the more sensitive parts of the script, like Siffrin’s intrusive/negative thoughts, for one reason or another? Moreover, did you worry the script may be darker than your initial vision for it anticipated?

Not really. The Mirabelle and Odile hangout scenes were the hardest scenes by far because I really wanted to get them right, but everything else was about the same amount of difficulty. And actually, I wanted to go a little bit darker for the script, but I was worried it was going to be too dark... When it comes to the dagger event, I had a whole tangent about Siffrin thinking about the best way to strike, so to speak, but I deleted it because it was getting A Little Too Detailed. T rating come back to me

The main reason why I'm sending this is because of sometning I noticed while rewatching a scene in the movie

Now, this might be me over analyzing as I usually do but it feels TOO. OBVIOUS.

IN the kart bakery scene where vanellope and ralph go to bake a kart, they obviously make their way into the building and into the main room

You see all the Karts of course, and It pans to the one vanellope chooses

Which, at first glance you wouldn't really pay too much attention, especially when watching it for the first time, she's just picking the model she likes

..but looking back at the scene

Vanellope's kart model, how it was supposed to look, looks very

Familiar

Because the kart she chose..

...is a red and white kart

With stripes down the middle, with a very similar shape to a..certain persons kart. Now this might just be nothing, it's probably just like I said, and over analysis on my part

But the kart the chose looks WAY too similar to turbo's, not to mention the stripe is down the middle, just like turbo's car on the cabinet art of him

And vanellope could've chosen ANY kart

But it was that specific kart she chose, out of any of the karts

Not to mention in some of vanellope's concept art...

So with that in mind, the kart vanellope chose in the kart bakery scene being turbo foreshadowing, wouldn't be too out of place, nor would it be too far off

Turbo's foreshadowing was always prominent, even in the smallest details you wouldn't focus on, just like he's infecting this world as a virus, little by little, everywhere. You. Turn.

Pepper is okay, I can breathe. (@slayerkitty we can relax now, happy days!) He has a girlfriend. I continue to love the way this show intertwines the group story with the romance. I really like that we get to see the group work together in different ways, the friendship between them is an important part of this story and I'm glad it continues to be a big part of the show. Also liked how this storyline allowed Pepper to get some confidence from the other members that he's an important part of the group. And, at the same time using his own relationship as a parallel to the main romance.

And as much as Pepper has been good at keeping his relationship a secret, I don't think Thame and Po will follow in his footsteps. That whole back and fourth was cute as fuck, but Thame was not wearing a mask or glasses, so it wouldn't take much for someone to notice. What about the people at the building where Po lives, they're bound to find it weird that he keeps coming back and fourth with Thame. And that whole scene inside the building was like an in person version of, 'you hang up! no, you hang up!' And no one hung up.

Not to mention, literally any person they pass by. Guys, you are not being subtle. Not even a little bit. You can dance around the words as much as you want, but the faces tell the whole story. The body language can be read from across the street. Also...

A bridge???? Could you not find a less secluded place to almost kiss??? Thame, Pepper gave you precise instructions and the first thing you did was ignore them.

I'll be shocked if they survive two days without being discovered, let alone like 3 months or whatever time they need to release the song. I say this because I know pain is coming, the inevitable separation is on my horizon, I can feel it and I'm dreading it, so can we please stay in happy flirty land for a while longer. I love it here.

keep up the thamepo [episode 5]

i was a bit frustrated with myself initially because, after the first watch, I was left confused... and jaded... and a bit dissatisfied with this week's episode.

it has nothing to do with the acting, but I thought it felt a bit fragmented? nano's story arc didn't flow as smoothly as jun's or dylan's? i was trying to make sense of it—why it felt like there were still missing puzzle pieces in nano's portrait. but I guess, after making another observation, I guess nano was the last puzzle piece. i didn't realise it until I watched the episode again.

i wonder if this has to do with how the story is told from thame's perspective? the simplicity, somewhat straightforward nature of how everything unfolds kind of reflects thame's perception of his feelings for po? how he thought that po was just wanting 'to be friends' with him. how he didn't know he was in love with po—not until pepper provided a different approach for him to understand and come to terms with his feelings?

therefore, in this week's recap, it'll be a bit shorter than my previous posts because this episode was quite straightforward in terms of storytelling. however, I do want to address some apparent parts that itch my brain, which are, jun and thame's dynamic, the parallelism between nano and po, and also po and thame's upcoming love arc.

1. jun and thame — one who ignites the fire; one who is on fire

i think 80% of the confusion comes from me not understanding what on earth jun was doing.

in last week's post, i said that jun might be fond of po in the sense that he was concerned about him because of his closeness with thame? jun might have an idea of po and thame's emotions for each other, so this is his way of showing his concern.

however...

everything he did somehow sent me to the edge. it made me assume that he might... like... po? romantically. i mean, if I don't know jun and po the way I do now, I might assume that they have feelings for each other (or at least, jun has feelings for po).

but then again, when i watched the episode, I didn't think jun likes po romantically? it's more like jun's trying to test the connection between po and thame—or he was just testing thame all along.

but one thing that i really like about the whole 'jun answered all of thame's calls on po's phone' is how transparent thame's jealousy is to everyone, but it's still transparent to him.

it's so interesting how thame is visibly uncomfortable with the idea of jun being close to po—at least in his eyes—romantically. because I feel like thame has always tried to conceal some parts of himself from the world due to his selflessness. yet, in this week's episode, I can safely say that thame has finally shown his selfishness.

and it kind of makes my heart skip a beat because po is the reason. thame's behaviour and demeanour in this episode stem certainty in me that aside from his dreams of making everyone's wishes come true, making po happy and loved is his new dream. and it's not forced, this dream of showing and giving po the whole world—it's because he genuinely loves him. (but at this point, thame didn't realise it yet xD)

a quick shoutout to pepper for being the group's observer. he's closely monitoring the group, helping thame bridge the members together, and giving advice to thame from the perspective of an outsider—a watcher. I'm thankful that thame has pepper as the vice leader because in my opinion, pepper judges with this sense and intuition, while thame makes decisions more on his senses than feelings. so it's great that thame and pepper are the leaders of the group because they complement each other well; pepper emotionally supports thame and helps him get a better grasp of the smaller picture—thame's way of helping pepper will unfold next week, I assume (and I'm excited/nervous for it to be honest...)

but again... the jealousy thame portrays is delicious.

it's fascinating because thame's jealousy is directed solely at jun and not po.

he could still smile at po. he was excited to have a conversation with po. he was always looking out for po.

but whenever he was looking at po, there was jun.

i like that in this scene, po was really just genuinely sharing about his day (I could imagine them being exactly like this when they start dating). he was so happy to talk to thame (po's so precious I'm actually devastated T_T). but as soon as the mentioned jun... thame just... he was set aflame. and it's so satisfying to see him this way. he's finally being selfish for once.

and jun kept pushing thame's buttons, all the right ones. and he was on edge. he was jealous. he was fuming. he was confused. he was... dejected.

however, i wonder still if everything jun said to po holds an opposite meaning? was he trying to tell po that "can't you see? thame really likes you?" what are your thoughts on jun? i really want to know (because I still don't understand his intentions t_t)

thank you pepper for helping thame realise his feelings for po :(

i like the idea of thame's inexperience of never liking or having a crush on someone makes his feelings for po appear stronger, bolder and limitless. thame has so much love to give po once he accepts the buzz in his head and the heaviness in his chest as I'm in love with phi po.

i think, the moment of epiphany for thame is beautifully done. the self-acceptance, the happiness and the relief that he finally understood his fondness for po are gorgeous. (so, jun, stop teasing thame and po, will you? po is definitely thame's type and thame's definitely in love with po.)

2. nano and po — a shadow, a reflection, two hearts

i'm actually geeking out at the idea of nano and po as a shadow, a reflection and heart to the people who regard them as important in their lives.

nano is just... beautiful.

to me, nano navigates his thoughts and feelings as a member of MARS with his heart. it makes him somewhat pure and innocent. he just loves his members. he loves MARS so much.

but it's heartbreaking how he doesn't see his significance as a member of the group—as the group's core.

all these stills of nano building the tent, helping the members, etc, illustrate his importance to the group. to me, he enhances each member's charms. he brings them to the spotlight. he helps clear the mist clouding them so that people can see MARS in all of their glory.

however, i do realise that nano is struggling with self-confidence. he doesn't know if he could ever make it without MARS. he's unsure if he could ever exist just as nano and not nano of MARS. he feels like a shadow underneath the members' feet. he doesn't feel he holds any importance.

nano reflects po. nano parallels the old po.

it's a beautiful parallelism—these two broken hearts were just afraid of disappointment. of uncertainty. of grief. of incompetence. of falling apart.

but i'm so thankful that po steps up to help nano realise that he's important—he's the heart and soul of MARS. with his portrayal of honesty from past experience, I love how sincere and raw po's words are. i surely believe it's everything nano needed.

(and i absolutely love how nano and po are wearing the same shade of yellow, indicating that both of them experienced similar scenarios. i think po will be nano's favourite phi in the future. he'll emotionally lean on po the most because po understood him through and through. it's so sweet T_T)

i think it's also healing po emotionally. he has finally confronted his past emotional trauma by indirectly talking about it to nano. it must've been tough to share a part of our utmost vulnerability with someone, but I'm glad po was strong enough to make a truce with everything he experienced in the past and helped nano see just how important he's to MARS. thank you, po <3

i love that MARS finally feels complete now—they finally feel like a family again.

even if the future is uncertain, at least they have each other to lean on (I'm just going to cry in the corner when that time comes...) and nano being in the centre? that's MARS's heart and soul right there. <3

3. thame and po — one step closer, 5 cm

finally, thame and po are physically close.

episodes 1 to 4 did an amazing job of showing us how thame and po build their emotional closeness through heart-to-heart talks, helping each other out, eating sandwiches together, remembering one's phone number, etc. thame and po are already close without thame realising, without po thinking.

i'm obsessed with how thame's deepest feelings now overboil once it's constantly triggered by the idea of jun and po's ambiguous connection in his eyes. i think it's how most of us realise our first crush on someone—the intensity, and the confusion are somewhat daunting. but again, I'm glad pepper was there for thame to understand his feelings—and jun was there for po to doubt if it was ever true.

this shot is INSANE.

my heart really skipped a beat. really.

i think it's because thame initiated this touch and it was the first time that they've ever touched this intimately (at the waist—in my head it's one of the most intimate places to touch) and it was after he made a move to understand his boggling feelings for po—

Brushing off some of our older gaming stuff to finally play "The Force Unleashed" (do not spoil it for me) and found myself immediately compelled by this presentation of what Luke Skywalker's life might have been like as "Darth Vader's son". (Or Leia's life, of course.)

Like, obviously, Darth Vader would not (and will not, I presume) have the same degree of attachment to his assassin here as he would/will to Luke, but the parallels are immediate and not subtle. Vader has killed a LOT of Jedi children by this point, but he sees a child powerful in the Force holding his own red lightsaber and something in him apparently snaps. And in the similar circumstances of 1) raised in secret away from the Emperor, and 2) trained to be a weapon against the Emperor, I suspect that Luke would actually have had a very similar quality of life to Starkiller (slightly better overall perhaps, but still similar), because I highly doubt that Sith Lord Darth Vader, who is held together by rage and spite, who is super traumatized by war and haaaaates being confronted by his own mistakes, would have ended up being even a half-decent parent if permitted to actually raise Luke as a Sith apprentice.

I was reminded of these games because I saw someone talking about how Galen Marek (protagonist of "The Force Unleashed") and Mara Jade (Luke's love interest from the Extended Universe) have very similar backstories and arcs, though they felt Galen's was better executed. So, I started up this game wondering to myself, "How old is Galen compared to Luke? A romance between Luke and his father's assassin / apprentice seems compelling... At worst, I bet it's comparable to the age difference between Luke and Din..." And yep! It looks similar and could also be fewer years than that. Galen could be 19 in this game for all I know.

I'm already enjoying an AU premise where Darth Vader somehow finds and captures younger teenage Luke, but he's panicking because 1) his son already hates him for injuring or even killing Obi-Wan (let's say that Owen and Beru are spared somehow, and also already calling up the Rebellion to fight the Empire to get their nephew back), and 2) Vader reeeeeally doesn't want the Emperor to find out about his son. But he doesn't really have a convenient place to stash his secret son! Palpatine is already calling demanding to know why Vader hasn't already completed some urgent imperial business.

So, Vader has to call his Ventress-in-training, Agent Starkiller, who happens to be nearby, to temporarily take Luke into custody. Vader says that no harm is to befall Luke and if he dies, then so does Starkiller, before he has to run off to answer the suspicious Emperor. Galen is, like, maybe 18 or something. (Ahsoka was kicking ass and getting traumatized on the battlefield at 14ish, so I assume that Galen's childhood under Vader was demanding and terrible.) This Sith teenager wants to be doing cool shit to prove himself, not shoved into a Bodyguard AU with some whiny brat who bites and has way too much of Darth Vader's attention already.

Cue some adventure that causes Luke and Galen to bond somehow. I'm not thinking about anything romantic at this point, I'm mostly thinking about angst, as Darth Vader tries to train Luke as a Sith apprentice through brutally cruel methods. Which give both Luke and Galen a lot of intense and complicated feelings about their own and each other's situations. And probably culminates in Darth Vader being shocked and angry when his son and not-son have run off and unionized against him.

The earlier that Vader nabs Luke, the longer you can shove him and Galen together. I'm leaning more towards a "The Worst Summer Teenage Romance Ever (During Sith Apprentice Boot Camp)" setup, even if it means bending the ages around a little, but I think that a "Childhood Friendship Forged Through Trauma And Desperation For Affection While Being Raised By A Sith Lord Who Is Playing Favorites" setup has great potential as well.

I like the potential humor of Luke initially being utterly unfamiliar with the Force and being unable to do anything with it, he doesn't even know how to lift a rock, while Video Game Protagonist Galen is like, "Okay, this soothes some of my terror about being replaced, but seriously, how are you this helpless??? You are like a Tooka kitten to me, what the hell is this???"

I also like the potential angst of Luke and Galen being forcibly separated somehow, so that Luke can escape and meet up with the likes of Han Solo and Princess Leia somehow, and he's all sad because the guy he liked is probably dead or else hates him. And then I like the potential humor of Galen showing up again as a real freak of nature, a human hurricane, just throwing everything around with the Force, waving a red lightsaber around. Luke has hearts in his eyes, while Han is like, "So, uh, this is the dead boyfriend, huh? Yikes."

seriously this panel is so,,, god,,, like not only the parallel makes me insane but wow the shapes and colors here too. i am easily amazed clearly LMFAO but gosh idk i just really like this,,, the swirl of summer flames lashing around and javier's wings also being curled as part of the swirl, centering to a single point around the eye of summer,,, which is also similar to the older panels of suho reaching to the light bc they usually ended up also pinpointed on a single point in at least one of the panels . oh my god it just keeps going im so . AAAAHHH!!!!!

i think it's interesting too that one of the differences is that both of them are reaching, but in this panel his fingers are wider outstretched. like, suho's hand reaches, but lloyd's hand is about to grab, does that make sense? that's what it looks like to me,,, of course i'm not sure how intentional that is (it likely isn't and is just that way bc it's been so long since the original panel was drawn) but it's a nice difference to point out either way,,, he's finally reaching it

SORA & ARIN. I can't lie - REALLY wasn't expecting Sora to go with Arin & Ras. BUT! It's probably bc I honestly didn't expect Arin to go back to Ras. I wasn't expecting him to go with the Ninja, no way in hell he does NOT feel comfy with them at the moment still & he's still mad at Wu, but I REALLY thought he'd go his own way bc he is just SO FED UP with Ras. If this isn't a dream, a hallucination, a coma, or someone having a psychotic break, this show just did backflips over Jaws.

Last season, in some of my posts, I questioned if Tim Minear was setting up the Tommy and Buck show.

Now, I'm convinced that is exactly what he is doing. That man loves two racist characters and uses awful writing to keep bringing them back.

With Bobby being killed off for "creative reasons", that was very telling. I think the creative reason was Bobby Nash stood in the way of the Minear creating the show he really wants.

In season 7, I said that going back five seasons to bring two POS characters back was sus. Why? They were antagonists in a few eps. That's it. Then we see Tommy as a friend of people he tried to ruin? That proves Tim is tone-deaf at best.

So, you kick Eddie out. (If you don't see disrespect in Ryan Guzman not being in Peter's final episode while LFJ was, something is wrong with you. Everyone except Eddie was shown reacting. Even LFJ. Eddie Diaz was one of Bobby's "kids". Not Tommy.) I also won't point out how if you look very closely, you could parallel the death of the kind, loving, open-minded Bobby Nash leaving an opening for the rise of racist, homophobic, misogynistic Gerrard to America right now. That would require my pointing out a lot of problematic crap Minear has written.

You kill off Bobby Nash, setting the 118 up for the permanent return of Gerrard. That would lead to Chim and Hen leaving because there is no Bobby to come back and make that firehouse a firehome.

Athena is probably gone too. I can't imagine brown-skinned Ravi having a good experience under Gerrard, so wave goodbye to him. That leaves Buck and Gerrard.

With Buck, who has now been severely traumatized, probably turning to Tommy Kinard, with Gerrard's encouragement, and clinging to him, the transition would be complete. It was the 118 Captain who influenced Buck to be who he is. Endgame him with Tommy and put him under Gerrard's wing. Imagine that.

Season 9 I think will be Tim's big FU to anyone who doesn't support BT or Gerrard. This goes beyond Buddie vs BT. BT supporters seem to believe you can't just dislike Tommy because being a lying, closeted, internally homophobic, misogynistic, racist prick is enough to make him unlikable. Newsflash: It's more than enough.

Now Ryan Guzman talking in past tense and his sudden shift in takes on Buddie take on a whole different complexion, doesn't it?

This could also explain the last minute rewrites and reshoots. They got the word they were renewed and Tim went from Buddie to BT. With KR back, you still think Buddie is happening outside of fanfic? KR told you she would never let it happen.

Warning! There's gonna be Metaphor Spoilers for all the way to the endgame in this one!

You know, I think Louis could have turned out a lot different if he had just been childhood friends with the Prince.

Like, hear me out, it certainly wouldn't have erased any of the trauma he suffered, that certainly wasn't ever going to happen. But having at least one thing in his life that the flames didn't take away from him probably would have done a lot for the man.

I can see this going two ways:

Louis gets taken in by the palace when More comes to retrieve Will. That would probably change the trajectory of the whole story pretty majorly. I could see Louis either still going down the path of rising through the ranks in the army, or possibly becoming a knight so he can stick closer to Will's side. Again, the Prince is the one thing the flames didn't take from him, and by whatever god is out there, he's not going to let anything else do it now. That would probably result in him possibly still being a target that Forden very much wants out of the way along with the Prince, especially since in this situation Louis would have no reason to masquerade as a clemar. He's out there as the lone eldan knight in the entire force, or quickly rising to the rank of officer in the army despite everyone trying to put entire boulders in his way because of his tribe. Or, alternatively, he pursues a more magic-based career. Possibly either aiming to become a mage at the Royal Palace. Or he follows in his parents footsteps and continues his studies to become a doctor, which still involves studying all types of magic so he knows best how to treat anything that comes his way. Regardless, his ultimate goal is to remain close to Will. Which he probably does to a point where it's entirely possible that he manages to foil the assassination, or gets cursed instead of/alongside Will. Or he does fail, which later results in the runner group having an additional party member with Louis possibly taking over the Mage lineage from Gallica or bringing in his very own lineage (maybe some sort of parallel to his boss fight? Either Archmage or straight up Archangel or something of the sort? Regardless his lineage would 100% be magic based. Possibly like Seeker with a mix of both healing and offensive magic) Would make for a funny situation since he either immediately clocks Magla Will for the actual Prince but is utterly confused about it since he knows his best friend is either dead or near-death (Entirely possible he wasn't allowed to join the group that cares for the curse-stricken Prince, but Louis is terrifyingly smart so he probably figured out a lot of things on his own). Whoever this is, they shouldn't be Will. And yet. Just another mystery to unravel during this entire journey. At the very least whoever this is does seem very adamant about wanting to help the Prince, rather than replace him.

Louis is left in the sanctum, but at least knows that Will is out there and cared for. Still would leave plenty room to build up the funny insanity he sinks into during the game, something that still paints him as the villain for a lot of it. The moment the news of the Prince's passing reaches his ears, he essentially breaks. He was working his way up through the army in hopes of one day seeing the Prince again, but now even that has been taken from him, has it? Likely what causes his utter descend into insanity. Its what prompts him to kill the King, (after all, this old fool couldn't even keep his own son safe, what use does he still have to the kingdom?) crash the funeral and announce his plans to take the throne for himself. He remembers the days spent reading that novel with Will at his side, and if this world is intent on taking and taking and taking from him? Then he will raze it and build the utopia both he and the Prince have dreamed of upon it's ashes. Honestly? In this case there's a good chance by the time anyone can convince him the Prince is alive, he's possibly far too gone already. Doesn't believe any of that drivel. The Prince is dead. The flames had long come to swallow him up after having forgotten one last thing they could have ripped from his arms. The Elda candidate that snuck upon his runner must've been a little rat, an imposter using his face to try and gain fame and fortune. He should have eradicated him when he had the chance, but each time looking upon him made him falter because he couldn't see anyone but his friend. It's another tragedy, because by the time Louis might recognize Will for who he is, it's too late. The Royal Scepter is already in his hands, the magla is rapidly gathering, the future he has worked for is about to come to pass. Even the one person that had kept him grounded for so long can no longer stop him. And now it's up to Will to stop Louis. To put his friend out of his misery that this entire tragedy has driven him into.

so i think what i like about sonadow is that it has the same sorta flavour that agent 24 does. the whole "what if we disliked each other but then we went through something extremely specific together and now we understand each other in a way that nobody else can" they get each other. no matter how many times they one-up each other, they're still on the same level

also i think it was mentioned somewhere i think in a jp article that "sonic is the only one that can reach shadow's heart and get through to him" or some shit and Come On. i live for that stuff WAGHGH and i imagine to parallel that, shadow is the only one who can make sonic slow down and use his head (u kinda see that in Prime). i really like the way they complement each other down to the way they just look cool standing next to each other

i also like how like. their dynamic is pretty versatile?? like, you could see it as romantic or something more platonic or familial and it's still kinda the same vibe. the same deep respect and mutual understanding is there and strong. i personally am a queerplatonic sonadow guy

ok now for my headcanons cuz you better believe i've been walking around in circles thinking about them (i uh. i have!!) so my first thing is that i don't imagine they're actually very affectionate with each other. they're way more likely to beat the shit out of each other than snuggle, but like, they'll patch each other up and probably take a nap after. anyone outside their main circle of friends who don't know them that well likely wouldn't even be able to tell they're in any sort of relationship (also it would take them like 187 chapters of slow burn to get anywhere in the first place). i think the most affectionate they'd be would be like, an arm thrown over the other after a long battle, or an evening spent looking up at the stars, or like the whole hedgehog circling thing i see ppl talking about that one's super cute. also amy is playing 4th dimensional chess matchmaker's edition to get them to go on dates bc nobody ships them more than her

i think they spend countless hours talking (or rather, sonic talks and shadow listens) and they can always tell when something's up with each other (sonic gets really irritated and frustrated about certain things and hides it well, but shadow always notices) and whenever either of them are dealing with nightmares they can go to the other for silent comfort and they never plan on meeting up but they always end up at the same place at the same time (sonic loves chasing trouble and trouble loves chasing shadow) and i just ughhghhhhhh they make me sick /pos

Explaining the Toxic Chain Kieran Theory (and why I loved it so much)

DISCLAIMER: You CAN like how things went in canon, or you can dislike the theory entirely. All I ask is for you guys to be respectful when discussing it. The last thing I want is people getting harassed for this.

I'm aware that this isn't going to change anyone's mind on the theory, but I figured I'd do my best to at least explain why I enjoyed it so much (as well as to find other people who like the theory because it seems like they all dipped after the epilouge dropped like seriously where are yall PLEASE /lh /j)

I will also be using other people's art and interpretations on the theory, and I will do my best to credit and link every single one I use. Any art that is not credited is due to me cannot finding the original artist, and if anyone knows who drew any non-credited art can let me know and I will update this post with credit.

This is also a long post, so get ready for a lot of rambling!

With that out of the way, let's begin!

What was the theory about?

As the name suggests, this theory was that Kieran would let his desire to get stronger than the player consume him, to where he'd become another one of Pecharunt's (called Dokutaro in the game files) retainers.

There have been some variations to this, from subtle whispers of power and some manipulation to straight-up possession.

But the one thing the theories had in common was that Kieran was influenced, manipulated, or possessed by Pecharunt/Dokutaro.

But a theory doesn't become a theory without some evidence, so let's dig deep into it!

The Evidence

(Some of this is debunked, but at the time it was considered)

1. The purple mist

When Kieran punches the shrine of the Loyal 3, an ominous purple mist is briefly shown around Kieran's fist.

This mist is also in the Indigo Disk promotional art

When the epilouge Mochi Mayhem released, the mist around Kieran's fist is identical to the one around Pecharunt's victims. While this was not known at the time, it is a pretty strange connection.

2. Kieran's Parallel to the Loyal 3

The Loyal 3 each wanted something.

Okidogi desired strength

Munkidori longed for cleverness

Fezandipiti wished to be beautiful

And at the time, Kieran wanted power. He wanted to be stronger than the protagonist.

At the time, people theorized that Kieran could have sought out Dokutaro for a Toxic Chain and Dokutaro would have given Kieran want he wanted in exchange for his free will.

Kieran would also fit to be the boy on the signboard along with the Loyal 3.

With Kieran tying up his hair at the end of the Teal Mask, a lot of people (myself included) thought the hairband would be a Toxic Chain like the Loyal 3 had.

3. The connection to the story of Momotaro

The story of Momotaro follows a boy born from a peach who befriends a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant to help defeat the evil Ogres in the lands.

The Loyal 3 and Dokutaro fit the peach and the 3 animal companions, and Kieran would be the boy in the story.

It made sense for the two to be connected in a way, as it fits the original story of Momotaro. The "boy born from a peach" concept would have been interesting, with Kieran accepting his true potential while under Dokutaro's influence or observation (depends on what fits more)

My personal idea was that Dokutaro is more of a mentor to Kieran, and have Kieran still keep his free will and self. But, say, after Indigo Disk, Dokutaro gets frustrated with Kieran not desiring to get stronger anymore, so it possesses him as a means of winning against the protagonist. That way, people who wanted Kieran to be himself (mostly) could have that, and those who wanted Kieran to get possessed could also have that. Both sides would be satisfied.

This would also solve the common counterargument I've heard where Kieran getting possessed takes away from his character development and ruins his arc, and while I do understand that, the idea I suggested would at allow for Kieran to be at fault for some of his choices, so that nothing everything is blamed on Dokutaro.

Why it appealed to me

While I won't be able to speak on how others viewed it, I personally saw the Toxic Chain Kieran Theory as a nice parallel to the Loyal 3, and especially to the tale of Momotaro. It would be cool, interesting, and an interesting take on the tale of Momotaro.

All these ideas on how Dokutaro would act and look, whether it be subtle whispers and temptation of power to full on mind control. Both were equally enjoyable!

The designs were great, the art was amazing, and the speculation and theorizing were genuinely fun! But I suppose that's the danger of fan theories, you get too invested in them and get disappointed by canon.

Conclusion

I do know that many people enjoy the epilouge and the Untold Story of Pecharunt. It's great that you do! Don't let my feelings with it ruin your experience.

And the same goes to those who dislike the theory, it's fine if you do!

I made this post to explain my thinking and show the evidence we had to believe it. Even with the Toxic Chain Kieran Theory being debunked, it was still fun to speculate, to think of ideas, to have a good time!

I still enjoy the theory (a completely normal amount I swear /j) and I make my own posts and art on my own spin of it.

Just saw Kung Fu Panda 4. Here are some thoughts.

Plot was... okay. Nothing super special, but it was fine enough for the kind of story the movie was trying to tell. And there were some great imagery and animation moments. I honestly don't get all the complaints about the animation. I saw one thing on TV tropes say it'd because it's not something like Puss in Boots Two or The Bad Guys, but I'm honestly fine with it not being like those. I feel like if all animated movies used that style, people would just start to complain that they're all the same.

Zhen was fine as a character. Bit of the usual "thief with a heart of gold" type character, but while I do think her changing was a bit fast, I can get why it happens. Po's the first person to show her genuine kindness with little alterior motive, and combined with a later betrayl, I can see her motivation for becoming a better person. Her voice acting wasn't too bad, but I think it could've been better in some dramatic moments. Also, while the movie doesn't draw attention to it, I do think there's a lot of parallel that could be drawn between her and Po, not just with how they grew up but also in their parental figures. Not to mention, they ultimately aren't THAT different as characters. They're both goofy people but grew up being looked down on by others and seem to use humor or goofiness as a defense mechanism. Just that she uses snark whereas he uses his big happy personality.

I REALLY like Po in the movie. Not just because he's his usual big fun self, but because he's still just as, if not more competent as he was in the previous movies. A big issue I had with the How To Train Your Dragon franchise was how Hiccup seemed to keep being less competent or capable in the movies. But no. Po's still able to kick ass and is the skilled warrior he should be after three movies of fighting. And I do think his fear of losing his dragon warrior title is understandable since that HAS been a big part of his identity across all three movies. Some might say that it's odd he's so afraid of change since he became a teacher in the last movie, but that was just adding on to his the responsibilities he already had. I would say his arc of becoming a spiritual leader was neglected some by the end and could've used a bit more focus.

Po's dad's are great. At first, I thought their subplot was just a comedic b-plot, but I liked how they ended up getting their and providing Po emotional support. And again, while it's not given much focus, their relationship and how they encourage Po creates a nice parallel between Zhen and her parental figure.

The Chameleon as a villain isn't THAT interesting, but she's not terrible. Personality wise, she's okay, but nothing spectacular. I do think her backstory was interesting, and, like the past three villains, her backstory mirrors Po's in a way. Which I honestly kind of wished they'd focused on a little more. I think it would've given her more depth that she's hinted to have.

Yes, the Furious Five aren't in this move for 99 percent of it. But.....I think it works. Because the whole point of the movie is about Po and Zhen. Them building their trust and relationship to get to the point they are by the end of the movie. And having the Furious Five their might have made things feel overstuffed.

Ultimately, I think it's a good movie. Nothing AMAZING but it's good and It does pick up more in the second half. Overall I'd say this around a 7.5 out of ten if I had to describe it.
