Its not that i cant draw full and half bodies in clothes that arent also on the refrence pose im drawing but the issue is it takes so long and ends up so frustrating as im really weak at it that the price for that type of commission would either be drastically under priced for time [and effort] put in or very pricey. I also know i need to work on it but i have so little energy atm that im not in a place to seriously sit down and practice, and my slow improvement from occasional attempts would probably mean i open that type of comms in 2026 at the earliest.

might be a little different than the post youre referring to because i dont know what post youre talking about </3 written as the reader and jax already being in a romantic relationship since i think otherwise i may be uncomfortable writing it </3 will touch more on that in the actual post but!! kind of written with like, a slight angst angle at the beginning, going off my own silly ideas since i dont know specifics for this!! my toxic trait is seeing someone call a recipe "hard" and "difficult to master" and my immediate reaction is to make the thing. i learned how to make macarons i can learn how to make panettone... not today though i need to get the nuts and fruits for it

if hes showing typical... sickness.. symptoms (fatigue, fever, ect) youre going to have one hell of a time keeping him in bed. youre probably going to have to monitor him until he recovers; because otherwise hes just going to follow you around the circus

this is already normal jax behavior but hes going to push people, hes just going to do it a little more often and more aggressively in order to get to you while hes sick

Portugal day 2!

My first full day in Porto. Started with walking tour (very small, just me and another couple). Where we got to see the avenue of allies, the street called the galleries of Paris where they party for St. John in June, views over the city, see old trolleys (that still work), and learn about the weird trees in the park (they had a disease so grew weird and fat and then got better and grew normally)

After the walking tour I saw the sao bento train station and it’s pretty interior ( the outside was full of construction and then went to chapel de souls which turned out to just be a photo op outside and intense silent praying inside. Saw the clock display at 12. The whole thing was 2.5 mins long.

For lunch I got a Francesinha, a ham, steak,pork ect sandwich wrapped in cheese in tomato gravy topped with a fried egg. Then went to the Porto cathedral where I took even more pictures with blue tiles

I walked across the bridge to Gaia on the other side of the river and saw cool street art. I would see many more large animal sculptures made out of trash in Lisbon too

I went to the rose museum where I enjoyed my five rose samples and took ridiculous selfies with the fun pink things including playing in the pink ball pit. It was empty except for two guys and was basically designed to be an insta spot but was still fun. Though a little small for the amount of wine they gave you

I then went to taylor’s port where I did a self guided tour of their port caves and learned about their terracing techniques and how fortified wine or port is made. At the end I got two samples and found a wonderful spot overlooking the city to enjoy them. And took a couple pictures of course

Walked back across the river at night and enjoyed seeing the most ridiculous Portugal sardine store with a Ferris wheel of tinned fish and a wonderfully purple lit clerigios church. I then went to the dogma wine bar across the street from my hotel to round out the night.

This is really my first time doing full solo travel and I think I like it. It’s nice to be able to fully do my own thing but I do wish I had a friend when eating and sitting and waiting for things. But lots of time for writing my travel diary!

Day 2

Slow gentle wake up with just the last hints of pink in my view. Quick walk to manteigaria for pastel de natas and hot chocolate. It is drizzling out boo. But the counter lady compliments my new earrings and says they’re her favorite flower yay!

Walk back to the hotel for breakfast and see the reception lady and ask for more shampoo success! And then head to the walking tour. My ability to navigate the streets is not quite as good as I would want but they all bend so much and have crazy angles that’s it’s hard to figure out which one google said to take.

It is just me and one other couple, from New Jersey but originally Belarus, which is nice. Gave ten euros in the end for tip.

We started with avenue for allies which refers to the English. Just up the street is a park for the English princess and the other side the Portuguese king who got married to cement the allyship. The vine was built recently, 200 years and Paris inspired.

Then we go to the galleries of Paris which is now a nightlight area and still had streamers up from the celebration of St. John in June.

We then see the twin churches with tiny house in between. The first was originally just for monks and then they added the church for regular people next door. Also learn that Porto is one of the world’s largest producers of cork.

We see a hospiyal and the park, jardin da cordaria with its weird trees. They also got a disea so grew fat and mound like before the disease resolved and now they grow normally from these weird bases.

Stopped by the clerigios tower and then went to another viewpoint. And then wrapped back around. Went thru rua de Flores which was designed for commercial use and had jewelers on side and clothing on the other due to sun. (Want sparkly sun on jewelry don’t want it to bleach all your clothes

Over all I liked it and a good way to start the day.

I then stopped I. Sao bento station and then up to the chapel of souls feels a bit like I am collecting blue tile pics but so it goes.

Stopped really quickly at Mercado do bolsa which was fun and then to see the clock! The bells played and at first I thought that was it but then doors opened below it and little came out and turned and did little poses. It was fun. I tried to get the whole thing on video while watching myself

And then to lado b for a franscinca. I know I’m old because I also got a salad with it and it was great. The sandwhich was good but overwhelming. Very very fatty and rich but delicious and I am glad I got one.

After lunch I walk by the clock and it’s almost one so stop and wait for another clock display. And it’s just bells?? So weird. Guess I got super lucky with the 12 display.

Onward to the Porto cathedral. Drop my phone on the cobblestone trying to use my selfie stick in front of it and scratch the screen protector….. oops. Pay 3 euros cash to go inside. There are so many blue tiles! Head up to the balcony of the courtyard with even more blue tiles! Ask people taking of selfie if they want a picture together and then have them take mine #shameless but also mutually beneficial and easier and less obnoxious that the selfie stick so feels great. Head up to the tower which honestly anticlimactic after the clerigios tower and all the viewpoints this morning. Back down and employ same technique to get fun bench pictures with the blue tiles. Head into the chapel and just sit for a moment taking it in. Everything is so gilded it’s crazy. Realize when I leave that I should turned around to look at the stained glass but I didn’t alas. I do wander all of the smaller chambers tho.

And then it’s off to Gaia!

The bridge is a delight and what fun views! Head to park and sit on the bench admiring the river. Head to pink palace atopping at the half rabbit art sculpture. I expected it to be free standing but it’s actually on the corner of a building. I take like four wrong turns and get turned about trying to find it. But finally but following signs into a weirdly empty building I find it. And it’s on to pink and selfies!

The wine tasting are all so close together and I have no idea how to manage the pacing of walking thru this fairly small muesuem with five wine tastings. I guess you are expected to take a lot of time taking selfies. The ball pit is super fun but honestly hurts a little. There’s only like two other guys in the muesuem which is nice because I can just take my time taking pictures but is not great because no one to ask to take mine. Although it is empty enough that I straight up set up my selfie tripod at one of the photo spots haha. Although some of the wall areas actually have kind of bad lighting for picture taking. And the better lit “photo spots” are kind of dumb…

But I get some fun ball pit pics, learn a bunch about rose, drink a bunch of delicious rose… maybe a little too much too fast but otherwise solid 8/10 time and I’m glad I do it. Then I head over to taylor’s port because they have a self guided port cellar tour that you don’t need reservations for and is right next door. I take my time with the beginning of the tour, reading all the signs and taking advantage of the benches for the audio. But boy am I tired. I skip thru the end of the tour which all about taylor’s history and current times because I just really do not care about who was in charge when or about their fancy limited editions. The first part is really interesting. I liked the bit about terracing and how they went from traditional stone terraces to paracartes which are dirt mound terraces that turned out to be bad for the environment and then their new modern terraces. Which are narrow and work with run off patterns. The grape varieties and the pruning growing cycles. And how they still stop the wine with your feet and how it’s all about keeping the skins mixed in well enough to give the wine its flavor so they have special plungers to push the skins back down. Fortifiying the wine is then when they add grape spirits that are clear flavorless and like 77% alcohol and it stops the fermentation process which is how port wines keep more of their sugar. Learned about how the wine gets more aged in smaller casks than in the giant vats. The evaporation is known as angels share which I found cute

Luckily learning about terracing and the aging process took long enough that I felt sober enough to have my port tasting. They had a beautiful balcony with views of the river and bridge and it was magical. It did start drizzling a little but not too bad so I was able to pretend it was romantic.

And then I had a way too long walk across the river and back up the hill in the dark empty streets with a dying phone. Should’ve tried to take the funicular but I survived. And got my fancy hot dog from gazels and it was in fact delicious and what I needed.

Go back to the hotel to recharge (my phone but also me) motivate to go back for a wee bit of shopping but am unprepared to make descions so Wednesday will be shopping day. Gay more Patel de natas for now and breakfast tomorrow. Somehow rally to go to the wine bar across the streeet. Mostly I want to wear my new sweater.

The rose is perfection and the cheese platter solid and I feel precious and European and am having a wonderful time. And I will not be doing the math on what I spent today haha. But I like to enjoy my vacations so here we are. I am looking forward to making fewer decisions tomorrow

I love your arrttttt and your style! How do you decide on poses for characters? Do you use references for poses or just do what feels right and how do you tell that things look proportional?

Usually I have an idea of the general VIBE I want the pose to be (example: energetic, Dance-y, dynamic, stiff, scared, up angle, down angle, ect.), the vibe comes from whatever kindof drawing I wanna make and how I think the characters in said drawing would interact.

From there, I fine-tune the idea in my head by looking at MANY REFEFENCES. SO MANY REFERENCES, YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH. People who say that eventually you need to stop looking at references are bullshit. Art HAS ALWAYS been inspired from something else. We are always subconsciously referencing the media we consume when we make art- because it makes up part of our personality as an artist, what we enjoy, what we hate, what we've seen before. NEVER be ashamed to use references. Ever.

After references (or if I feel like I don't need references for the peice) I just sketch until it feels right/okay ENOUGH. Perfect art doesn't exist, its subjective. Once I'm happy with something I'm satisfied. I've very rarely ever made art that I'm not happy with.

Proportions? Probably a little harder to talk about. The internet is always raving about proportions- because exaggerated features are such an easy "targetable offense". Like I said, I sketch till everything feels right. Proportions are settled usually in that phase for me, but asking me how I Proportion things isn't gonna work since I just kinda. Don't. Lol.

So, a good way to go about it is look at tutorials that explain the proportions of the face and the body. It's also very important to look at many, many as many references as you can, make a folder and put anything in, from photos, studies, art you like of people with different characteristics, angles, poses ect. What has helped me a lot is making studies drawing characters I like, cause I struggle to will myself to do it, and focus on getting the shapes right first and detail later. Make a lot of those and don't worry about them looking perfect.

I can't fit too many things without making it overwhelming for an ask, so these are a few good tips that have helped me. Take it slow and also!!! Don't forget to have fun with it, the process is as important as the result, as corny as it may sound.

Greetings, I am an old Star Wars fan but new to obikin discourse of any kind. Back in the prequel days, I loved Obi-Wan but was blinded by my hatred of Anakin. However, as I aged and the characters grew into what we saw in the Obi-Wan show, I'm forming new opinions.

A question though, to you as an experienced obikin shipper and author, I have to ask. One of the reasons I've never been able to ship it before is because, from literally every angle (unless the fic is a complete AU), obikin is a deeply unhealthy relationship dynamic with no hope of a truly happy ending. And that makes me very sad. How do you navigate this? Although I do love extreme angst and much whump for my fave characters, I do like to imagine that all could be well for them eventually. How could you see this happening for Obi-Wan and Anakin in a mostly canon SW context?

Hello There! And welcome to the Obikin community after all these years!

You'll hear many differing opinions on this and mine certainly isn't definitive, but I personally do not consider their relationship dynamic inherently unhealthy or without hope of happiness or a resolve for a happy ending. I understand the age gap makes many people uncomfortable, as does the mentor/apprentice dynamic, and those are completely fair things for people to dislike. But I think the greatest misconception about this ship is that Obikin focuses on Obi-Wan and Anakin when Anakin is very young and while he is a padawan. And while there is certainly that dynamic, and I myself have written them when Anakin is still a padawan, you will find that is by far not where we focus on their dynamic.

For myself, my favorite era to focus on them is during the Clone Wars. Anakin is no longer Obi-Wan's padawan, he is in his twenties, a war general, and co-leading an entire Intergalactic military fleet with Obi-Wan. While they still retain the dynamic of mentor and apprentice, they very much become equals. Obi-Wan stops referring to Anakin as padawan, Anakin refers to Obi-Wan as master far less, they treat one another as best friends and comrades, as that is the more equal roles they step into during this period. And of course in reality, in real life we would raise eyebrows at the very least at a romantic pairing with this age gap and mentor/apprentice dynamic because of inherent power imbalance ect ect. But it's fiction, and Anakin as a character is one with agency and far more responsibility and power than a real person would be capable of in our world. But even with all that, I'm not one to get hung up on things being considered problematic or unhealthy with a ship, it's fictional and I'm a grown human fully capable of parsing reality from not, and what is acceptable to explore through art and what is not in real life.

But if that nuance of their relationship bothers you I recommend the plethora of gorgeous Clone Wars era fanfiction in our community, that is often canon compliant or adjacent, and which explores their dynamic on a far more even playing field. But as far as canon no hope of a happy ending, I completely disagree (in a very friendly way!) Even in canon, platonically as they are, Obi-Wan bends reality and manipulates the force at the very end to ensure Anakin becomes a force ghost when he dies. Even after their lifetime of pain and heartache and sorrow, Obi-Wan in death chooses to keep Anakin's soul with him in the afterlife. The implication of course is that they can then spend literal eternity together, and I personally find that very comforting and uplifting.

But as far as no hope for happy endings in canon compliant or adjacent fanfiction, you will actually find lots of brilliant obikin works that blend beautifully with the canon universe, explore obikin, and allow for a happy ending. In a perfect world I would see it going as Anakin being able to control his fear and to let go while the Jedi triumph in the Clone Wars and Sidious is defeated. You would be surprised at how many iterations there are for a brilliantly happy ending that only require a minor change to the plot. And while I am an avid shipper, I also am perfectly content as they are in canon, platonic and still so tangled up in each other they are an intrinsic and inseparable part of each other's characters. No matter how you look at it, platonically and canon or through a romantic lens, they loved one another ardently and to the foundations of their being. Any story where Order 66 didn't happen and Anakin stays in the light and they continue to love one another is a happy one for me! I love them! I love their friendship and brotherhood and literally every dynamic in-between, because they are two halves of a single whole in canon.

I see an infinite number of happy endings for them. Because to me the act of Anakin not falling is achievable in countless ways, and defeating Sidious in just as many! I'm a writer, I see nothing but a lifetime of story and alternative endings. You could say a near canon option for them to have a happy ending is simply that Anakin did not decapitate Dooku and Sidious is revealed, you could say he simply told Obi-Wan he was having force visions of Padme dying, you could say Padme refused to marry Anakin, you could say Palpatine choked on a bagel lol

And I know with the Kenobi series now it seems terribly unhappy and a dynamic of pain and sorrow. But there is so much material where they love one another and are happy that I find it a simple thing to focus on that. The core of what I am so obsessed about for this ship, is that even canon they love one another so much it is a fundamental part of their characters. You can't have one without he other. And to focus on, even beyond fanfiction and fandom, the ending is literally that Anakin chooses the light in the end and that Obi-Wan never stops loving him, and that they are together forever.

-WHY BTS'S "RUN" MUSIC VIDEO IS SO BEAUTIFULLY DONE-

Now, hopefully you've watched it atleast once to understand the rough idea. Before I start, if you are unfamiliar with the members I have created a quick guide image so it is easier for new watchers! (Please note these are their STAGE NAMES not their real names. In this post I will be using their stage names to refer to them)

The music video opens with a snippet from a different song called "Butterfly" and band member "V" leaning into a pool? To be 100% honest i'm not sure what he falls into but we can assume it's a pool of some sort. The music at this point is a more ethereal take of their song only using vocals and an echo effect. We then see RM on screen in his shipping container home.

-For those who don't know, "Run" is one of a few music videos that consist of a story line that has taken place from 2014 to present day and has many BTS fans theorising daily.

The logo for the album "The most beautiful moment in life part 2" shows up and the screen fades to black, signaling the end of this intro. Shortly after, the music starts to play and again, we see RM walking across the train tracks alone, this is most likely a call back to the "I need u" music video where all 7 boys are seen walking down the tracks together.

RM knocks on another shipping container and Jimin opens it for him. Here the watcher is bombarded with warm colours and a misty-looking atmosphere. 3 of the boys greet RM as they walk down the small hallway. This conveys a welcoming not just to RM but the watcher too. The next few cuts are the boys partying and messing about. These particular shots are messy and busy this is done to create the effect of perhaps urgency as in the story line as a whole there's a theme for staying young forever but knowing that it won't last.

A clip of V is then shown of him falling into water but because of the angle that he falls in, we can assume he was pushed. Jin is then pushed up against a wall and has an 'X' spray painted on him. For those who follow the story line, obviously this is big lore reveals ect but today I will be focusing on the cinematography and why the MV is so pretty however, to explain some things in the MV I will have to reference it a few times. We then cut of to V and RM together, spray painting a garage door. The police catch them and they start running. (How ironic). Not surprisingly, running in this music video is very common. The running could symbolise running away from responsibility and following the theme of "Young Forever" as RM and V are doing childish things such as vandalism even though they're adults in the story. V also takes a few seconds to mock the police, further linking to being childish.

We then switch to Jin finally finishing his house for cards on to be taken out by V. Again, this could link to their song house of cards which is about building up a relationship. V taking out the house of cards could symbolise that he broke them apart or could even link back to being childish.

The camera cuts to Jin eerily staring into the camera. This is called "breaking the fourth wall". Doing this gives an effect of awareness of the character and intrigues the watcher. Then we see V in the water before it cuts off to a clip of the 7 boys running. Then we get another clip of Jin staring into the camera. If we skip a few seconds, we see Jimin in the middle of a road by the entrance of a road cutoff screaming in anger. In this first chorus we see stuff starting to go downhill for the boys. Eg, V and RM getting caught, we also see J-Hope and Jimin in what looks to be a hospital ward. A beautiful transition takes place where J-Hope throws a pillow around Jimins face but then cuts off to all the boys having a wholesome pillow fight. We also see RM pick up a Butterfly Ace card, this nods to the song heard at the beginning of the music video.

After that, we see SUGA and JK fighting. Now it is believed that in this story line they are in a relationship together, making this fight scene even worse. The shots are fast paced and slightly out of focus to convey how fast paced it is. SUGA then throws a chair at a mirror which allows the song to cut off. Again, this references the storyline as everytime glass of some sort shatters, it signifies Jin has failed to fix things and he must start all over again. To support this we see the house of cards fall again representing the relationship of the 7 boys falling apart. We then see all the boys partying together as the camera zooms onto JK who is on the floor. It then hovers for a few seconds and then zooms out to see the rest of the boys gone.

Shortly after we see a wholesome moment of the boys in photobooth posing for pictures. Then the bridge of the song starts and J-Hope is seen falling down to his hospital bed. Then we get a zoom out clip fo the boys lying in a field. These series of clips shows how close the boys are a perfectly demonstrates their relationship together.

A cutscene of the boys in a tunnel takes place where they vandalise cars and mess about conveying practices of being youthful and not caring. Jin drives the truck as the boys run away.

Now throughout the whole music video a warm tone of colours has been used but as Jimin opens the door to a different room the colours are cool. It cuts back to Jimin where he is infront of the warm toned room. He then gets dragged into the bathtub and soaked in water as they all mess about together. The cool tones could represent being reserved however the scene itself tells a different story creating a juxtaposition. As the music video comes to an end, everything starts to work out for the boys. They seem to have fun, RM and V run away from the police, however we see that V is in a panicked state in the water and nothing is changing. The song ends and cuts off to the boys walking in a line but JK stops and looks into the camera. This could represent in the storyline when he was hit by a car. Finally we see V lift up from the water and the end credits play.

Overall, in my personal opinion (probably biased because Run is my favourite song) I believe Run is a gorgeous music video that depicts the hardships of being young as well as not wanting it to end. Being forever young is what so many people want and if you look close enough, I believe that this music video manages to create that nostalgic feeling for the watcher even though I haven't don't half the things in this music video. In other words it does an amazing job and making the watcher feel sorrow and miss the feeling of adrenaline. (I know I definitely did).

Going for the "Hypothetical Show" angle, Lila messing with Marinette would be a 4 parter, titled "Marinette's Studio" as a whole.

The first part wold probably be called "Lila" or "Liar", something along those lines. This would be from Lila's perspective, and would give us a look into Lila's backstory, and show how she had been manipulating her classmates. She then does the "thing" to Marinette, possibly using a certain purple material to enhance her powers. It ends with Marinette collapsed, and Richard entering the room in a very ominous way (Think goggles down and glowing). (Cue collective screaming from the fandom.)

The second episode, titled "Mental Doorway" or "Mental Connection", would start where the first ended, with Richard at the doorway, Marinette unconscious, and Lila trapped with nowhere to go. He grabs her by the hand and drags her to Marinette. Lila tries to lie and say that she just found her passed out, but he butts in and tells her he already knows that she messed with Marinette's head, after all, she's thinking way too loud about it. Now, he needs to help Marinette, and to teach Lila, pulling out a door. "What's that for?!?" "You'll find out in a sec." Cue them entering Marinette's mind, probably followed by an establishing shot and Lila looking in awe. The rest of the level plays out here and the next episode, titled "Psychonaut" (There were so many theories based on this episode prior to release, especially given the similarities to Aquanaut's name)

"Psychonaut" continues the level, and has flashbacks to Richard's past as a Psychonaut, finally revealing what the Psychonauts are: an international psychic spy organization based in America.That Richard so happens to be a member of. (This was foreshadowed in various episodes, but the idea that they're the good guys trying to stop Hawk Moth had been overshadowed by Villain!Goggalor and a few episodes where Psychonaut tech was misused.) Also, casual references to how Raz broke into a government facility, and saved the world twice running on PSI-pops and Dream Fluffs. (Memes about this show up, perhaps relating to a previous short about everyone getting their hands on PSI-pops:

The final episode, A "Friend", would focus on fighting the titular "Friend", and would wrap it up for the most part. There would be a few questions left, such as what Richard's real name is(Though a lot of people have their suspicions), how he came to be a Psychonaut, the "Lady Lucktopus" incident, ect. and most of the fandom writes fanfic about it. (There is side media that expands on it, mostly comics, however it doesn't get released for a while, Double Fine knowing all too well how publishers get leaks all the time and not wanting to spoil this event)

My Comments:

(I legitimately saw this immediately after waking up and I am still freaking out over it it’s just so freaking GOOD—)

This. This is the kind of stuff I wanted to hear as soon as the “hypothetical show” angle was opened up to me. And I love it so much.

I can already imagine all the theories about these episodes by the names alone. Especially “What’s Lila going to be doing? (Lila)” and of course “HOLY HECK I THINK WE MIGHT BE GETTING ANSWERS (Psychonaut)” and I doubt it’d be revealed that it’s a freaking FOUR PARTER beforehand so everyone is assuming the episodes are separate as usual

After “Lila” the entire fandom is freaking out because A) Lila has powers that seem related to some of the stuff Raz has done before B) She has done something very bad to Marinette and C) That final shot of “Richard”

I feel like the second episode would make more sense to be called "Lady and Fairy" or something to keep up the theme of episodes named after...names XD, and I imagine people would be thinking "Are there going to be two Akumas?" before "Lila" comes out and then the fandom starts going crazy trying to predict what this episode is gonna be like with that in mind.

"Psychonaut" feels like it'll end up being impactful on the same level as "Chat Blanc" was in reality. The audience is finally learning about what has been hinted at since Raz's introduction, and the mysterious Psychonauts have now been explained. There is an organization of psychic secret agents that are also trying to take down Hawk Moth, and Raz is one of them. He's also saved the world before?! Imagine the speculation from the handful of details given. Plus, the viewers have also gotten a look at a whole other Miracle Box, which would provide some definite fanfic fuel.

And finishing off with "A Friend", where Lila begins the road to redemption...and learning, along with Raz, Marinette's identity as Ladybug. Everyone loses their MINDS at this, and there's probably some fighting among fans caused by that internal revelation. Not to mention all the new questions that all the reveals have brought up, like how Raz saved the world before, and the identity of "Razputin" still hasn't been entirely confirmed, and who are those other people in the flashbacks, and why does Raz have experience in fixing bad connections, and there's so many different theories and ideas.

Also, I love the idea of side comics eventually revealing the events of the games! I'd been personally wondering about maybe a side tv series, but having it be comics? GENIUS! Actual "True Psychic Tales" issues! Probably illustrated by Scott Cambell! When the comics come out, the entire fanbase is analyzing every last bit of it, there's youtube videos and tumblr posts galore explaining the different stories...

(Maybe even rumors of a video game being worked on…Psychonauts the game made a reality in this universe, perhaps?)

Weird question, but what does a typical page in your sketchbook look like? Do you have a bunch of tiny doodles or are they all sketched compositions? Are there any pages dedicated to specific subjects like hands, faces, body types, birds, ect. IDK, I was just curious if it helped you in your pieces in anyway because your art is glorious! :D

One thing’s for sure, my sketch books are not cover-to-cover beautiful compositions, like the art books I see on YouTube xD  They’re mostly very stream-of-consciousness - doodling hands or eyes or mouths, just-for-fun drawings that I started without a plan and may never end up going anywhere with, jotting down quick sketches just detailed enough to preserve a concept before I forget it, iterating thumbnails to refine an idea, notes-to-self on anything from story ideas to grocery lists...

I do sometimes do more focused sketches to scan and continue digitally - I find it’s easier to get a nice, dynamic pose or a sense of motion with traditional sketching, but even then it’s usually pretty loose and unfinished. I don’t do many finalized traditional drawings. (Which is maybe something I should work on!)

And I absolutely absolutely have sketch pages dedicated to deliberately practicing specific subject matter. Drawing the same thing over and over again from different angles, in different positions. And using references!! References are important.

If I’m feeling frustrated with my drawing, like nothing looks right, it usually means I need to go and do more life- or photo-studies like this. Practice!

I do this a lot when first trying a character I’ve never drawn before (or designing a new OC) too - just drawing their face a bunch of times to try to get a feel for it.

I struggle INSANELY with doing 3/4 view art. Do you have any tips? I've found a couple guides on pinterest but I'm still having a little trouble.

(This is really outdated, but I’m leaving it up since I think it can still be useful, even if it is several years old by now)

Hi Anon! So sorry to hear you’re struggling. 3/4th is my favorite comfort zone, but I don’t know how well I can walk you through it any better than the many tutorials out there. There are plenty that do tutorials much better than me and they all kind of follow the same format for 3/4th view, but I’ll try my best to break down my method as understandably as possible!

1: I always start with my eye and middle line guide in whatever direction I want them facing. The middle one is more important than the original eye line.

2: Next I’ll do my head circle to keep my skull guideline and connect it to the bottom of my middle guideline to make the jaw. You’ll want to be kind of careful about this part and not just draw a gigantic circle or one that’s too small. Try to keep it about the size you want your actual head.

Don’t worry too much about the eye line at this point as you’re mostly getting the general shape of your head at this point. You can always edit your eye line later and adjust it to where you need it to be.

If you’re doing a character that has defined cheek bones (Like Vaard who has CHEEK BONES) you can do a line from the side of the head to the side of the chin like I did here that always acts as a great guide to the general area if you’re going to define it.

Make sure this step is on its own layer separate from the rest of your lines.

3: Now using your line and circle guide, go ahead and fill out the far side in whatever shape your character’s face is (angular, round ect.). It’s easiest starting from the top of your brow bone. Keep in mind your center line as this is your direct center of the face.

Vaard’s got a pretty basic, generic face shape as a base. It’s very sharp and square so I did a lot of straight lines with little to no curves to them.

At this point, it’s best to have a reference of a face in the shape you’re going for if you struggle with this step. References are your friend when stepping into unknown territory and angles.

You can also add your hair line guide as well to make sure it’s not too high or too low.

See how the circle we started with now becomes the full skull and makes up the back? This is why we want to be careful about the placement earlier and not go way out of the anatomy you’re going for.

4: Ok now for the fun part. What I like to do, is draw little Star Trek badges under the highest point of the brow you’re going for and on the far side, connect it to the cheek. This becomes your brow/cheekbone on the far side, and your inner eye socket guide on the inside. Don’t worry if they’re too big, you can always erase them later but we’ll come back to these in a bit. You just want the top to be fairly even with each other.

5: So to help line up your eyes in ¾ths view, you can draw a line from each side of the chin or nose. The inner corner of the eyes will usually sit near or close to the same line as the nostril or chin edges. (unless you’re drawing a very narrow or very wide nose, then go with the chin guide lines instead).

My original eye line didn’t quite line up with were I wanted to actually put my eyes but it pretty much lined up with the bottom inside corners so I kept it where it was.

Using the outside ‘Star Trek Badge’ just carry that top line on down and bam, nose bridge perspective!

6: Now using those badge shapes still, you can go ahead and curve your eyebrows right on top of the lines and you have your brows! This really only works if you’re going for a neutral expression though with little to no brow movement or expression.

7: From this point, it’s just a matter of adding your details! You already have a fairly solid base and anything at this point is very easily tweaked or shifted.

8: At this point you can erase all of your guide lines (which should be on a separate layer from your actual face outlines.) and if you happen to have a character with fairly deep set eyes, you can use those badge guides again to shade the eye sockets. Just shade inside them and you have some decent shadow guides.

I hope this helped some!  Sorry if it looks like most other tutorials and guides out there, but I did my best.  Remember, references are your friend when doing angles you’re not familiar with, even if it’s taking a picture of your own face just to see where shadows fall or how the nose looks at that angle! (The other eye is also the worst. I am in no position to give tips on the other eye, sometimes I don’t even draw it lol).

Essential Avengers: Avengers #210: You Don’t Need the Weathermen to Know Which Way the Wind Blows!

August, 1981

Wow that is one hell of a title! At least in terms of length.

Not the best though.

That still belongs to Avengers #12: “This Hostage Earth!”: In Which the Mighty Avengers Battle to Save Their Beloved Planet From a Fate So Deadly That None But the Macabre Mole Man Could Have Devised It!: A Marvel Tale of Most Compelling Excellence!”

The title to this one being a Bob Dylan reference gets its some bonus points though.

Hmm, this issue is written by Bill Mantlo and he’s also the co-creator of Rocket Raccoon, originally an extended reference to a Beatles song.

Guy loves his song references.

The cover is also pretty excellent this time too. Damn but do I miss covers like this. Four different perils befallen the Avengers separated by the presumed villain’s helmet crest.

So take us away, Mantlo.

We start the issue with the return of the ridiculous four-sided television for the Avengers meeting table. Except now its five four-sided tvs on one pole for maximum media absorption from multiple angles.

And the Avengers are watching THE WEATHER CHANNELS!

Scarlet Witch: “Why have you summoned us, Captain America? What new menace confronts the Avengers?”

Wonder Man: “Wait until you hear, Wanda! Cap’s called us together to watch the weather report!”

Don’t be so surprised. The title and the cover are all about weather.

Cap though says that this weather channel may be showing THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE WORLD!

But surely he’s exaggerating. Even if 2012 the movie ridonkulous weather disasters happen and wipe out humanity, the world will keep on zooming through space. Its a persistent rock.

End of humanity is pretty bad too, from the point of view of humanity. Which the Avengers either are or aspire to.

So there are excessive tornadoes in Kansas. So far, of course.

London is flooding.

There are unnatural thunderstorms and torrential rains in New York, so bad that Thor has decided to show up without being summoned to go ‘hey how about this weather, right?’

Buenos Aires is freezing, baffling and befuddling bikini beach goers.

Which Beast ogles.

Beast, pls. The fate of the humanity is at stake here.

And there’s a heatwave over Antarctica melting ice and raising the water levels, threatening low lying countries. Or mostly just England somehow.

The government’s weather monitoring space station with a weird name Samarobyrn has determined that these weather disruptions are too systematic to be natural so the Avengers are going to split into five groups to investigate the five places I’ve already mentioned, since they’re the five places most seriously affected according to the satellite Samarobyrn.

Beast is going to go to Buenos Aires, to his delight.

Wanda and Vision will go to Kansas.

Beast: “The perfect place to send the Good Witch of the East!”

The Wasp and Wonder Man will head to Antarctica.

Wasp: “Great! Finally I get a chance to wear my new fur coat!”

... Wasp. Heatwave.

Thor will investigate the thunderstorms in New York.

And Cap and Iron Man will go to London.

Not sure what they’re going to do against large-scale weather disturbances. Can’t exactly punch the climate. At least not personally.

Maybe punching a weatherman will help. Can’t make the situation worse.

Anyway, the Avengers all head off to their own destinations, with Beast snarking “Say, shouldn’t someone yell ‘Avengers Dissemble’?!”

So, this reminds me of something, really briefly. There was an episode of Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes that used the title This Hostage Earth (sadly sans the rest) and also coincidentally seems to share some elements with this story. The Avengers split up to investigate seven different anomalies with Iron Man wryly commenting that he should say Avengers Dissemble.

Doesn’t have much of anything to do with this. I was just reminded because of mentioning This Hostage Earth ect earlier.

Anyway, while all of the other Avengers dissemble, Thor tarries.

So he’s still in the meeting room when Jocasta arrives and wonders what the hell is going on. She only found out there was a meeting at all because Jarvis told her.

Damn, that’s rude, the other Avengers.

Thor: “An oversight, surely. Our ranks have swelled of late, and with no permanent chairman, ‘tis hard to know whose responsibility ‘twas to summon thee.”

Jocasta: “True? And yet I have felt... apart from the others. Being a creature of cybernetic circuits and not flesh and blood, I am always aware that I am... different.”

Thor: “And thou thinkest we do shun thee for it? Nay, milady! The Avengers are a composite of mortal and immortal, android and man-beast, man and mutant! Different, Jocasta? Aye, so are we all!”

Oh, hey. There’s that arc about Jocasta feeling disconnected from the other Avengers. We haven’t touched on it for a while but it was a running thing in the Shooter run previously. She tried to make friends with various Avengers but they tended to inadvertently blow her off due to their own preoccupations or just getting distracted.

So, no, Thor, I don’t think that the Avengers are intentionally shunning her. But I do think that none of them have really been reaching out to her, either. And you’re all she has.

Thor heads out to his mission and this time Jocasta tarries, thinking about things and stuff.

So she’s still in the meeting room when the computer pulls up some exposition based on a random thing Beast asked rhetorically.

“Origin of the word Samarobryn in the disaster prophecies of Michael Nostradamus... Samarobryn one hundred leagues from the hemisphere. They will live without law, exempt from politics.”

Huh!

I don’t think I knew that Nostradamus had a first name!

Weird that someone would name a weather satellite after a disaster prophecy that predicted famine caused by excessive rain. That’s like naming a communications satellite Babel.

Anyway, the Avengers all head in five different directions with four Quinjets and one Thor and Jocasta takes a fifth Quinjet and heads off into space.

Huh! They have five whole Quinjets now!

Thor flies up into the sky and begins yelling at the clouds, as one might expect from Thor.

Thor: “The storm rages as it hast for hours, with a fury that doth threaten the very existence of the Midgardian mortals dwelling below! ‘Tis time to leash the lightning -- to put the rain to rout! Cease, storm! ‘Tis the god of thunder who dost command thee!”

And then Thor gets hit in the face by lightning.

This storm is a rude.

Thor is stunned by all of this lightning in the face, I guess backing up Clone Squirrel Girl’s use of electricity to knock out Jane!Thor that one time, nearly falling out of the sky before whirling Mjolnir like a helicopter to land smoothly.

And then Thor goes back to yelling at clouds except this time not just clouds because he spots the one who hit him with lightning and it is a who and not a what.

Thor: “Descend, Villain! And if yon storm be thy doing -- desist!”

Weatherman: “Have a care, god of thunder! Not even you can command... a WEATHERMAN!”

I have queried an expert who has told me that yes, this guy looks a bit tokusatsu.

(And he’s orange. Spoilers: There’s a different colored one wherever the Avengers go. A full color-coded team.)

Anyway, two hours later and over in London, England, Iron Man and Captain America arrive to deal with London being flooded.

Iron Man: “Do you realize just how selective these disasters are, Cap? After all, England and Holland border on the same body of water -- and the first’s been inundated, while the second hasn’t been touched!”

Huh! That is weird. And seems incredibly implausible or like someone or thing incredibly powerful is also incredibly angry at the English.

While Iron Man flies around shooting the water with repulsors to... shove it back into the ocean? Is that what’s going on?? I mean, if the water is disproportionately high on England’s side of the channel then I guess you could just shove the water and accomplish something but I thought there was something going on with Antarctica melting which would indicate that the sea levels are also rising but then why would it be affecting only England and oh no comic logic has broken me

Anyway, while ^ that is happening, Captain America lands the Quinjet on Parliament since there’s not many good places to land and really, how often can you say to have landed a jet on a government building?

He’s old, let him have his fun.

But it’s not just fun! He’s Captain America, the man who wakes up at 4 AM to go for a ten miles jog so he can be showered and ready to superhero by 6 AM, probably!

He notices some kids clinging to an overturned double decker bus (because how would we know it was London without?) and he jumps from Parliament to swing on a Union Jack flag to the bus.

And then he uses the flag to create a tether to a rescue boat that the kids can cross over on.

AND THEN THE BLUE WEATHER RANGER! appears.

Flying around on a hoverdisc and creating a localized tidal wave. The wave smacks Cap off the bus into the water as Blue Weather Ranger gloats.

Weatherman: “Let that be a lesson to you not to wrest lives away -- when they’ve been claimed by... a Weatherman!”

And now a scene transition to sunny Antarctica where Jan van Wasp is finally getting the idea that heatwave means that her fur coat is superfluous.

While melting Antarctica temps might still be cold, this specific melting Antarctica temp is almost tropical!

And its not just sunny, it seems like the sun is moving closer, like the angry sun from Mario Bros 3 because iiiiiiiiits.... THE RED WEATHERMAN!

Weatherman: “Die, Avengers! The only fate for those who would defy... a Weatherman!”

The Red Weather Ranger blasts them with heat beams of a thousand degrees, melting the ice right out from under them.

Wasp figures that the Red Weatherman is radiating heat in waves so she could hypothetically hit him between cycles.

Hypothetically.

Because she can’t figure out the frequency and instead the Weatherman sets her wings on fire. And her wings are an organic part of her and she hurts when they hurts. So she plummets into the water to put herself out.

Hmm... the yellow and black look good on Jan and fits with the Wasp name but sometimes she doesn’t look dissimilar to an X-Men.

Wonder Man does what Wonder Man does and picks up a heavy thing and chucks it jerkwards.

But they’re in Antarctica so heavy thing is a giant ice chunk and jerk is a really hot guy so the ice chunk melts midflight pelting the two Avengers with boiling rain.

Wow, this is going poorly so far!

Who’s next?

Scarlet Witch and Vision are next! And they’ve gone to Kansas to fight tornadoes.

I’m. Not sure how that’s going to play out. I really feel like the Avengers are out of their element trying to fight the weather. Is it too late to call in the X-Men and specifically Storm?

She’s doing a crossover with Dazzler this month in 1981 so its not like she was too busy.

Anyway, Scarlet Witch flies the Quinjet at a tornado and then is shocked when the jet gets swept into the funnel cloud and spins out of control

She wonders why Vision is just standing there but he learned a thing from the Yellow Claw two-parter and isn’t just standing there.

He actually makes his mass so heavy that it forces the Quinjet to the ground with a WHRUMP!

I can’t imagine that’d be good for either the Quinjet or the passengers but I’ll give Vision this.

Its cool that he can do his thing without outwardly expending any effort.

Scarlet Witch: “Yes, neither of our powers are quite so flamboyant as Cap throwing his shield, or Thor his hammer -- but they have proven most effective, else we would not be Avengers!”

And then she uses her witchcraft to force two of the tornadoes to slam into each other and cancel out.

This also seems dubious. Since tornadoes tend to spin the same direction you’d think that instead of cancelling, they’d become one giant super tornado. Them cancelling each other out seems quite improbable actually. Which is probably exactly why it works.

Take that, SCIENCE.

But there’s still one tornado left and its coming for them! And since it appears to not be naturally formed, it defies Wanda’s nature based magic! Curses!

Annnnnnnnnd... It’s a WEATHERMAN!

The ebony Weatherman. Although he looks purple to me.

Weatherman: “Stand or flee, it will make no difference! Your lives are in the hands of a... WEATHERMAN!”

And another scene transition.

Geez, this plot split the party hard. And I think it’s beginning to realize how hard it is to split the story between six groups because this vignette gets four panels before moving on.

Beast lands in beautiful snow-covered iceberg infested Buenos Aires and takes a brief moment to be horny about a bunch of bikini women who have been frozen alive.

Beast: “Oh, my stars and garters! Those bathing beauties I saw on T.V. -- they’re frozen solid! Maybe I could take one or two back to thaw out in my room at Avengers mansion?”

And then as if to punish him for this, the white WEATHERMAN! immediately appears and freezes Beast solid.

Weatherman: “You will need to unfreeze yourself first, man-beast! So says... a WEATHERMAN!”

Beast: “Yoiks!”

Good thing freezing is basically harmless in comics.

And our final party, Jocasta IN SPAAAAAAACE.

Because Quinjets can still just achieve escape velocity. That’s some good super-science.

Jocasta: “Samarobyrn, Earth’s first weather-monitoring space station! It’s so... beautiful! A shimmering silver wheel in space -- a triumph of science and engineering, created to faithfully serve its creators... as was I. Perhaps that is why I alone thought to come here.”

And since she’s a robot, she just jumps out of the Quinjet airlock that it definitely always has had and uses her EYE BEAMMM to basically propel herself away from the Quinjet and toward the Samarobyrn station.

That’s pretty cool, actually. I’m not sure if, scientifically, laser eyes would actually propel that much, but its a cool thought.

Of course, Jocasta has to do all of this cool stuff because the space station didn’t respond to the docking requests Jocasta sent. So she has to go in through the manual override airlock.

In the station, Jocasta finds no signs of life even though it was supposed to have a five man crew.

She finds her way to the hub of the station where the computer monitors are all monitoring the five separate Avengers missions.

So she’s pretty sure her suspicions were correct.

Jocasta: “The five foes facing my fellow Avengers must be the five crewmen of Samarobryn! They have distorted this station’s functioning from that of weather-monitoring to weather control -- and now exploit it for their own evil ends!”

Samarobryn: “You are wrong, silver sister!”

WELP!

The space station computer has gone all HAL. Dammit, this always happens!

So Samarobryn decides to explain it all.

It had a humble beginning as a computer for the U.S. Weather Service’s Project Earthwatch. But then one of the programmers added something extra to the concoction: NOSTRADAMUS!

No but seriously. The programmer decided to download the disaster prophecies of Nostradamus into the computer in addition to weather data.

And particularly the ones dealing with that Samarobryn prophecy, the one Jocasta read part of earlier. So when the comptuer was installed in a space station named Samarobryn, it went ‘hey that me!’

And decided to expand operations from weather monitoring to weather control.

How does a space station outfitted specifically to only monitor the weather make the jump to controlling it? Fuck you, this is comics.

When the crew grew suspicious, the computer rewrote their brains to become the Weathermen.

Why did a computer designed to monitor weather have the ability to-

Look, this is comics. Where Hank Pym, biophysicist, built a computer with a gun pre-installed and was surprised when it shot him and tried to take his wife. THIS. IS. COMICS.

Anyway, speaking of weirdly sexual computers:

Samarobryn: “I sense that you are a machine like me -- created by others but obedient to none! Join me! Be my bride! Together we will cleanse the Earth of imperfect humankind and stand guard over the paradise which remains... as gods!”

Geez, its just like Aaron Stack all over again, way before the fact. Also, Ultron. A certain type of AI is just attracted to Jocasta, huh?

Anyway, Jocasta lets Samarobryn down easy by shooting him with EYE BEAM!

Jocasta: “Nothing would remain but a lifeless mokcery of a world! No! I reject you! I was created to be the bride of another such as you -- but robot though I am, there is still some spark of humanity burning within me! I cherish it -- and would not see its source snuffed out!”

Samarobryn may be a load bearing computer pillar without arms or legs but it still manages to defend itself.

BY FLOODING THE CONTROL ROOM?

I guess everything in this room is waterproof??

And also by shooting lightning, also in the control room. Where I guess everything is lightning proof.

This is a bad plan.

More than I thought, even, because by shifting attention to defending itself up in space, Samarobryn leaves its Weathermen high and dry.

The Orange Weatherman stops being able to throw lightning bolts so Thor clobbers him.

The Red Weatherman chills out so Wonder Man and Wasp can get close and put him in a headlock.

Uh. I’m not sure if Blue Weatherman actually is affected or not because Iron Man just punches him in the back of the head while he’s distracted.

The Ebony Weatherman’s whirlwind vanishes so Scarlet Witch and Vision can kick his ass.

And Beast unfreezes as quickly as he froze and kicks the White Weatherman’s helmet off. And apparently the helmet was maintaining the mind control because the Weatherman is suddenly confused about where he is.

And with the Orange Weatherman beaten up, Thor senses, with his god senses no doubt, that the Orange Weatherman wasn’t the one commanding the weather. So there must be an unseen agent who arranged this.

So his course is clear.

Thor shoots a giant lightning bolt into space and hits Samarobryn.

He doesn’t know that the station is to blame. He’s just shooting a giant lightning bolt into space because he’s pissed that someone used lightning against him.

I guess when you’re the god of thunder, you can get a little homing capability out of your giant space lightning bolts.

Still though. Wow.

Meanwhile, in space, Samarobryn is still trying to woo Jocasta. For a certain value of woo.

Samarobryn: “It is still not too late, female! Accept me! Accept what must be! I can make you love me!”

Jocasta: “What can a machine who would destroy all those I have come to care for know of love?”

Samarobryn: “Nothing, as humans understand love -- but together we can redefine the word on the basis of our own coexistence!”

Jocasta: “Can you not understand? The fact that I am a machine does not make me less than human! I am, as Thor said, merely... different! I would try to live in their human world -- to understand how to retain that difference that makes me unique -- and yet be accepted!”

This is an interesting conversation but wouldn’t you know it? There’s a power surge. Seems like a space station got hit by lightning.

And when the lights turn back on and Jocasta wonders what happened:

Samarobryn: “I am weather-monitoring space station Samarobryn. Your question is not pertinent to weather evaluation. This unit cannot compute.”

So you know how sometimes a program crashes and you lose all your progress?

Samarobryn hadn’t backed up its sapience and the power surge effectively lobotomized it back to factory settings.

Geez.

LATER

All the Avengers stand around congratulating Jocasta for the good job and apologizing that they overlooked her.

Apparently new safeguards were put in place to prevent Samarobryn from attaining sentience again. Probably stuff like ‘don’t download doomsday prophecies into a weather satellite.’

Hm. I know Samarobryn was trying to destroy the world and all but the cavalier lobotomization of an enemy because it was a computer and thus disposable sits wrong when the Avengers have two AIs on their team. Really, the fact that it was an accident is pretty much all that lets it slide by.

Also: I’m kind of peeved that Jocasta didn’t get to resolve the situation, given that this was blatantly a Jocasta focus issue. She does pull a lot of weight, being the only one to figure out the real source of the problem and distracting Samarobryn long enough for the Avengers to beat the Weathermen. But it feels like Thor swiped the big win from her even though he didn’t even know about Samarobryn. Just shot some lightning into space and resolved the plot.

That plot resolution should have been Jocasta’s!

Anyway. Scarlet Witch says that Jocasta being overlooked like she was indicates that the Avengers need to reorganize and Vision suggests that they vote on a new chairperson.

But they’re interrupted by Cap.

Captain America: “Iron Man, Thor, and I have given some thought to the directions this team has taken -- and should take! I open the floor to discussion! The first item on the agenda being: THE OLD ORDER CHANGETH!”

Which basically means a roster shakeup.

Funny that the Avengers have had a period of disorganization and aimlessness when they didn’t have a permanent writer and now that they are getting one, they’re going to try to get their shit together.

Whatever I do, I shouldn’t miss next issue.

But before then, there’s an Avengers Annual that has to fit in somewhere and since it uses this roster of the team, might as well fit it in now, before everyone changes and it makes no sense. And its a fairly well-known Avengers Annual.

Put Your Hands Up

This is the first OFFICIAL meeting of Present Mic and the Villain who will eventually be known as Eraser, based off this AU idea that both @artemisflux​ and I created.  Definitely a Enemies to Somewhat Friends to Lovers trope.  Also, offically naming this AU What a Villain Deserves.

Takes place after USJ, in which Hizashi is healing and not taking it easy like Recovery Girl wants him to.  Also, Hizashi is hella attached to his homeroom class and will always refer to them as his children, his kids, his babies, ect. Shush, they’re his first homeroom class and he’s an excited father-not-father.

Hizashi just couldn't get it out of his head.

It'd been a month since the USJ “incident”.  As if calling it an incident would make it less of a clusterfuck.  His children had healed and moved passed what had happened – even little Midoriya, whom he discovered had wrecked his arms and legs yet again in an attempt to try and rescue All Might (such a problem child). The Sports Festival had been a rousing success in getting a more positive angle for UA (even if the way they had treated his precious angry Bakugou like a wild animal at the end really, really ticked him off).  The first internships had started for his homeroom class and they were all supposed to be out of the major action with real Pro Heroes watching their every move and helping them learn the job.

Heck, even his injuries were on the mend and he was scheduled to see a quirk healer to fix up the last of them – the worst being the damage done to his neck – by the end of the week.  Even if he was restricted from Hero work until that time, he was healing, and had been able to walk around on his own since the day after the Sports Festival.

Everything was getting better.

But for all that everything was getting better, Hizashi couldn't get him out of his head.

When Asui (sweet, adorable, croaky Asui) had frozen as that...that creepy dude with the hands had reached for her, Hizashi had feared the worst.  His directional speaker had been crushed to pieces by the Noumu, and even if he hadn't been worried about accidentally blowing out his children's eardrums (or worse) with his quirk, he wouldn't have been able to.  Not with the way the Noumu had crushed his throat between its fingers and was strangling him against the concrete.

And then the scruffy man had stepped in.

Tall, goggles covering his eyes, a scarf around his neck and wearing what looked to be an altered, sleeve-less version of army fatigues.  He'd just...stepped up behind the creepy hand dude and stopped him.  Told him, “No.  We're not hurting the kids.”

And the creepy hand dude had stopped.

Hizashi's vision at that point had faded to black, but that few seconds he'd seen of the scruffy man just wouldn't leave him.  Even when he'd been on bed-rest in the hospital, stuck laying in a bed because the doctors feared for the broken pieces of his upper spine severing his spinal cord, he'd replayed that small bit over and over and over in his head.

Who the hell was he?

Nedzu had talked to him once he was able to walk again.  Had pulled him to the side along with Midnight, Snipe, and All Might to go over the security footage from USJ.  The scruffy man had been standing next to the creepy hand dude like a second shadow for most of the fighting until creepy hand dude had threatened to kill Asui.  The reason why the small principal had gotten them together was to talk about the potential threat they faced in the future from this group of villains and how they would continue on from there.

And yet Hizashi was stuck on the fact that this villain had saved his kid.

Why would he do that?  Why, when so many of the villains there went out of their way to terrify and hurt his class, would this one villain stop the de facto leader of the group from hurting one more?

It just didn't make any sense.  Asui's scream of terror and the man's, “No.  We're not hurting the kids,” replaying in his head over and over.

Maybe he was overthinking it.  Hizashi huffed, leaning his head back to stare up at the night sky.  He winced and carefully righted himself, though, when the muscles in his neck protested the small movement and the still healing skin twinged at the stretch.  Jeez, he couldn't wait until he was given the okay to get healed the rest of the way. It was too much trouble to have to watch his movements all the time simply because everything hurt.

“I just need to stop thinking about it,” he muttered to himself, taking another turn on his mindless wandering throughout the city. “I've spent way too much time sitting still and that's caused me to think too hard on nothing at all.”

Yep, he just had to keep moving and stop thinking so much.  Hizashi took a deep breath (or, well, as deep a breath he could at the moment) and let it out.  Perfectly intending to let the matter rest for the time being.  He was on break for the moment, anyway.

And then he caught sight of the man in front of him.

“...Ah crap,” he whispered to himself.

The man was exactly as he remembered, only this time he was wearing a mask over the bottom half of his face as well.  Tall, hair pulled tight into a bun on the top of his head, that long scarf around his neck, the altered fatigues and scars crisscrossing over the skin showing on his arms.  He stood just ahead of him, arms crossed and seeming to be looking straight at him.

'Well,' Hizashi thought to himself as he readied a breath, 'a Hero doesn't really take breaks anyway.'

He opened his mouth, mentally preparing himself for his ears to be hurting, but the pain never came.  Neither did his voice.  Hizashi had exactly half a second to wonder what the heck was up with that before the man was suddenly in his space, crouched low and a fist barreling straight for his middle.

Hizashi only barely managed a step back to lessen the blow but god it still hurt.  The breath was knocked from his lungs and shit.  Shit this is why he didn't do close combat.  He sucked at it.  He sucked in air, mind working quickly when he could feel his voice again.  Huh, so this guy erased his Quirk...

“Hi, hello mister villain guy!” Hizashi chirped, skipping backwards and just dodging another fist to the face.  Knuckles still scraped past his cheek.  Fucking – “Nice touch with the quirk cancelling thing – is that you're quirk or something?  Why don't we just sit down and talk about it – “

However the hell the man was doing it, Hizashi felt his voice die in his throat again and another fist caught him across the chin.  His head snapped backwards, neck screaming murder at him and damnit he could feel his bandages getting wet.  He stumbled, hands flailing backwards to stop his fall, and as he tried to blink the stars from his vision what felt like a boot slammed into the side of his face.

He dropped like a stone.

In what felt like no time at all and yet also a lifetime Hizashi was bound in what had to be excess material from the man's scarf.  He blinked slowly as the man patted his pockets down until he found his phone, tugging it free and standing. The man pushed the goggles up to look down at the phone, dark, bloodshot eyes squinting at the small screen with a frown.

“In...Interesting quirk you have there,” Hizashi managed.  Everything hurt.  He tried wriggling his arms in the binding, but aside from noticing that whatever material was holding him was strong, nothing budged.  Damn. “Too bad we didn't see more of that at USJ, huh?”

The man scoffed and tugged his mask off his face, revealing the scruff that Hizashi remembered so clearly.  “Too bad we didn't hear less of yours,” he said, not even looking down at him.  He just leaned back against the wall of the alley he dragged him into and scrolled through his phone.

Hizashi wrinkled his nose in confusion.  What the hell was this man trying to do?  “What, so I should have just.  Stayed quiet and let a bunch of bloodthirsty villains attack my kids?”

Yeah, hell no.

The mention of his students finally got the man to look at him.  He frowned down at him, then flicked his eyes back to the small screen. “We just wanted All Might.  They should've stayed out of the way.”

At that Hizashi rolled his eyes.  “'Stayed out of the way.'  Yeah, of course.  Hard to do that when the villains attacked them first.” He scowled up at the man.  “All Might wasn't even there, man.”

The man spends another few moments scrolling through his phone before giving a frustrated huff.  He crouched down to Hizashi's level, tucking his phone back into his pocket – which, uh, weird, what sort of villain returns someone else's belongings?  As he was double checking the bindings (yep, still not budging), he asked, “Where was he?  It's not like the number one Hero to not be there.” He paused, expression darkening.  “Oh wait.  Actually, it is.”

The fuck was that supposed to mean?  Hizashi squinted at the man.  “He was back at the school.  Roster changed last minute.  It happens.”

The man clicked his tongue, glaring off to the side.  “Annoying. Figures, though.”  He finally turned his dark eyes back to Hizashi.

Hizashi kept his scowl up, doing his best to not let any hint of fear slip past.  Sure he fucking hurt all over and probably added at least another week onto his wait to be okayed by a quirk healer, but there was no way he was going to just roll over and let the man think he got the better of him.

...Even if he technically did.

“Now,” the man started, leaning in close, “what to do with the Hero...?”

There was a moment of silence, and then Hizashi felt shivers race down his spine as a slow, grin crawled its way across the villain's face. Whatever the man had in store definitely wasn't going to be a lot of fun.  Not with how creepy that grin was.

“I think I've got a perfect idea...”

The grin widening and dark eyes glowing red were the last things Hizashi saw before everything went black.

When he woke back up, groggy and cold and with a raging headache, he was tied to a pole in the middle of Harajuku, high up and with his hands tied above his head as if he were surrendering.  Several people below were taking pictures, pointing at the man everyone knew to be Present Mic, Hero and popular radio host of Put Your Hands Up! Radio.

Hizashi had gone out on a stroll to try and get the circling thoughts of the scruffy villain out of his head.

As the police and local heroes helped him down from where he'd been stuck, he couldn't help wondering just who the fuck this villain was.

Okay, fine, I’ll spill. Here’s the AU idea I’ve had for a while.

If The Octarians Won The War AU:

Splatoon 1:

So, in the AU, Octavio was able to single handily win the war with his octoweapon powers and thus banished the inklings to the now known Ink Valley. Over 100 years later and Octo-opolis is a thriving city of modern and tradition and the freshest spot for turf war and new start for Octos and other sea creatures. Lulu, just Lulu in this AU, has run away from the orphanage she grew up in Octo Country and wants to start a new life for herself . She was still heavily bullied in the orphanage for being a hybrid but after one point she finally stood up for herself and learn to fight. Now she's in Octo-opolis to try and start a career as a DJ and try to pull some octolings or octarians together to make a turf wars team. No luck one day, she finally spots an old looking octopus with a green scar on a tentacle looking around from a man cover near some lockers near the tower where the great Zapfish is suppose to be; no smelly trash cans cause Octolings are better at keeping things clean. 

Curious when the octopus notices her and ducks down, she follows him and finds herself in Ink Valley. The octopus turns out to be the old King DJ Octavio who relays to Lulu about the kidnapping of the zapfish and the Great Zapfish. Sitting on the little bench that is connected to a traditional looking hut that looks nicely kept is Octavio’s wife Athena as she hands Lulu a cup of Tea as Octavio tells Lulu what's been happening and asks her if she will help. Lulu agrees to do so and thus becomes Agent 3.Once in Ink Valley, it's a sneak and fight situation, like Metal Gear type style of sneaking around, to get her way to the zapfish. Unlike the city and the upper world where it's lively and tons of music plays, down in the valley, it's cold, silent, and dangerous but Lulu took up the mantle to get the zapfish back and back she does. Along the way, she defeats Inkweapons which Octavio relays that were made from the octoweapon X-Trace serum that the inklings stole from the old plans used during the war. In this AU, octoweapons are no longer needed and Octavio is the only one in modern time. It isn't till half way through things, that General Cuttlefish kidnaps Athena as a revenge ploy against Octavio. But now, Agent 1 and 2 have shown up to guide Lulu to the end of things.

At the final boss, Athena is shown to be tied to a pole as General Cuttlefish shows up to suck the Great Zapfish in his giant mecha and the fight begins after giving a monologue about things. Half way through, Agent 1 and 2 reveal they are the Octo Sisters, Hannah and Coraline, and start up the Octo Country Inkantation. With the defeat of General Cuttlefish, he's put in the snow globe so Octavio can watch him. 

In gratitude for bring the zapfish back and for saving his wife, Octavio asks Lulu if there is anything he can do for her. He's king after all, he has means to get her anything she wants. So she asks him if he can help her find someone as she pulls the picture out of her suppose mother and shows them the ruby necklace. Seeing the photo, turns out it's Precious, their missing daughter, and the necklace was Athena's, which means Lulu is their missing grandchild. Breaking down, all three of them cry in each other's arms.

Side Key Notes:

So in it, Lulu's still a princess and Octaivo is still the ruling king. 

Athena is still around cause better medicine since being on the surface, technology, including medicine, had better resources to flourish. So that makes the city being pretty high tech as well. Floating platforms, the gliders being the flying cars stuff. The works.

Ink Valley on the other hand is pretty dark and cold and Cuttlefish is pretty cold and ruthless. Although Octavio has been trying to help, Cuttlefish won't take it.

The platforms above Ink Valley are taken care of by Octaivo and he uses them to farm.They don't live there, but most times, are found hanging out there. They actually own a nice house in the outskirts of the city. Pretty much it looks like the one they got in the main story.

With modern times, even though they are the ruling family, they aren't really needed much. 

Octavio is still a DJ and a very popular one next to the Octo Sisters; still owning his own music company that he gets Lulu in to launch her career.

Since the Inklings were banished to the valley, it means Lulu doesn't have her friends but she does okay on her own. She makes new ones with Turf and mostly just plays as a profeshional single player.

Turf is also better regulated by the octolings so it's much more fair to play. It’s also opened up to other sea creatures with tech that octolings have designed for them to play with.

In this verse, although she's a princess, Lulu won't see the crown because of the modernization, the ruling family is really not needed anymore, so after Octavio steps down, the council will take over. So Octavio works to train Lulu to speak in the council instead.

The key catchphrase, “Stay Fresh,” is now “Stay Happy,” meaning to be you and do what makes you happy in life. This is why there is so many clothes brands. So Octolings, Octarians, and other players have clothes that fit them and their style and they can be happy with.

The stellar system is still a thing here and Sako is still Octavio’s lackey and head scientist. Lulu fights Cuttlefish way deep in the valley instead of in space.

Lulu is still pretty much herself. Plays turf, hangs with the family, ect.

Octaivo has a limp in his walk, so he walks with a cane that at the top has a ball head in the shape of the remixer. Little carved with a little Octavio in it too. Down the cane is music notes in order for “I am Octavio!”

Splatoon 2:

Octavio notices that the old plaza tower isn’t as stable as it once was for the Turf Wars hub and feeling that it needs to be repaired, Octavio moves the hub to the new more sturdier Octo-opolis Square. Much better built for Turf wars and much closer together for shopping and stuff, this becomes the new hot spot for Turf players. Once all moved, Octavio gets the old radio tower fixed up as new stores move in to get the area lively again. Not for turf, but still lively.

Pixie finds herself at the square and stumbles upon Hannah standing over the manhole cover there, and jumping in, finds herself in Ink Canyon. Pixie basically looks like the default Agent 8 for reference.

Hannah explains about the great Zapfish being taken away again and that the Inklings are up to no good again. So the drill is the same. Pixie takes up the ropes as Agent 4 and off she goes to get the zapfish back. Since Coraline lost the last splatfest, she's the one taken by Cuttlefish and has to be rescued. Once Hannah hits Coraline with a hero charger shot and Coraline is free, they sing the Spicy Octo Country Inkantation.

Side Key Points:

Lulu has become successful in her music career and after the events of the story mode, becomes good friends with Pixie.

Off the Hook is still here but it’s Pearl who’s left the valley. Marina is still tech heavy, so she still makes all the shifty stations.

With the addition of the new hero weapons, Lulu’s hero weapon choice is the duelies from this point on. It was originally just the hero gun.

Precious and Kane are found about the same way they are in the main story. Just different locations on where the fight with Octavio happens.

Inkling Expansion:

I'm still working kinks out but here's what I got so far.

In a training practice, Octavio and Lulu get attacked by a sanitized inkling and fall into the metro. Lulu gets separated from Octavio as he finds Agent 10, which is Joey. With Joey's help, him and Octavio find the thangs and assemble them to be the blinder. Marina is able to signal Lulu as she crashes in to brake the blender, but his the ground too hard and gets knocked out as Octavio grabs her up and watches over her. So now it's a race to the top as now Lulu's the one being mind controlled and Joey has to fight her which if under normal circumstances, would be one hell of a fight but because of Tartar, Joey is able to handle her with decency. At the end of the fight, it seems one of Lulu's back tentacles got cut off at the tip but she seems fine.

In the final fight, Tartar reveals their plans that they were working to eradicate inklings because they are the ones that started the war and broke the peace that the octolings had. They had been watching the octolings and saw how advance they were and admired them for it. Seeing them as the next evolution. Then inklings came and tried to destroy that. When the war was won by the octolings, Tartar was pleased but then they found out about the story arcs and decided it was time to rid of them. So NILS is aimed at the valley but Marina concludes if they go with this plan, the blast at the angle it is could cause a tide wave that would wipe the city out. So now Joey has to fight to stop that from happening. 

With the stop of Tartar, Joey is free to see the city as other inklings start moving to the surface.

Side key notes:

Now for Lutarna, the story is about the same. It isn't that she takes the cut tentacle, she finds it and uses it. Same ploy. Making the new body, the memories, frees her from her directive but she still has a major superiority complex against inklings so instead of helping the valley, she helps the city. First making her presence known to Lulu, she apologizes for mind controlling her and wants to rekindle connections to help fix the metro.
