Racism and misogynoir are so apparent in fandom, especially when it comes to shipping because why is it when a white male, sometimes female but I see it more with the former, character is on screen with a love interest, particularly woc, especially if they're black, and even with all the emotional scenes or just moments where they look at one another in ways different from the rest, it's met with "No, they aren't dating/the show is not going to put them together" but let the other love interest be white as well and suddenly it all makes sense? Heck, the examples I mentioned above don't even have to exist between the latter for some to STILL go and believe this rhetoric (eg. some Jace and Helaena shippers because, even if these two only interacted with a dance but yet we see Baela console Jace, after he seeks her out, apparently it's to far fetched to believe that Jacela could be a thing?!)
Sometimes it could be a headcanon that, largely, would make sense (and oftentimes was birth due to lack of respect that the poc characters could have been given by the writers *cough* TVD *cough*), and yet you'd still have people dismissing it left and right and spewing hate. At a HEADCANON! And I'm not saying that just because the other person in the ship is poc that you have to ship them, I'm not, but it's very apparent to many poc fans in fandom that unless the characters are swapping spit and doing the nasty, the possibility of them being viewed in any romantic lens feels too much of stretch even though their white counterparts don't have to jump through the same loops.

If I have any overall issue with The Acolyte it's that the culture around it is a bit capital Q "Queer", "this is so important!!!!" which always annoys the fuck out of me because at the end of the day it's a fucking Star Wars show, but even then I can't get too bogged down in that because it practically feels necessary in the face of the criticism and online abuse. It's so staggering. "The gayest Star Wars", review bombing, the most mental accusations of conspiracy, fuck knows what Amandla's dm's look like rn, all because it's made by a lesbian, there are gay actors in it, and two women in a society without men embrace once. And let's not forget how they treated Moses Ingram and John Boyega. And we're the fucking snowflakes 🙄😂 get a grip, fuck.
They were always gonna be dragged kicking and screaming out of the dark ages and I feel a bit foolish for being surprised by it but jesus you'd swear the show had Amandla Stenberg foregoing a lightsaber in favour of a fucking strap on
Which I'd approve of, btw.

Thinking a lot about the female characters is Star Wars, and I realized something:
Without fail, the only female characters without very vocal detractors within fandom are the ones who lose their clothes
Leia and Padme are the only female characters who do not have people devoted to just hating them and I think it is because they are the only ones who lose their clothes at some point.
In a fight where the two male characters come out with their outfits intact, Padme artistically loses just enough of her outfit to not change the movie’s rating.
Leia gets degraded by a slaver and forced to wear what would barely count as undergarments.
As a child, I just loved the movies.
As a teen I saw the difference and just though “well they are hot”. (I hate that I had internalized gorgeous women in movies are not allowed clothes so much at this time.)
As an adult, I can’t stop thinking about the men behind the scenes who made that decision. Who just decided a bikini that didn’t adapt to the shape of the body (Carrie Fischer addressed how it gapped and exposed her when she had to sit because of its inflexible material) was the correct move. Or stared at a shirt deciding what the appropriate amount to have torn off but not make it seem gratuitous was.
The other female characters in the movies where these things occur stay mostly clothed, but they also barely speak.
Then Star Wars started fixing its female characters problem. And we got Rose and we got Rey and we got Admiral Holdo and we got Reva and we got Ahsoka and the fanboys lost their damn minds.
Actors were attacked on social media. Actors had to take a break from public life because of the vitriol thrown at them.
Hell, even the actor who played a younger Leia was torn down by the fanboys. A literal child. And grown ass men felt the need to comment.
According to the fanboys, a woman does not belong in Star Wars unless she is giving them something to imagine later as they ruin a sock, and I hate it. I hate it so much.
I love these stories. I love talking about them. I want to introduce my daughters to them, but that introduction is going to involve giving my own Women in Film media and gender studies class, and I hate that.
This is not just a Star Wars problem. Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad vs Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey illustrates the problem pretty explicitly. It is a fanboy problem. It is all the grown ass men spending their time spewing sexist vitriol from behind their keyboards but couching it as a critique, when really they just want to see a character they can easily insert themselves into in these situations.

Astrology Observations No.26
(Just based on my opinions, only take what resonates)
-Aquarius mars can denote a career around trends, tech, and social media. It can also denote your career taking off during times of social progress or spearheading social progress. (John Boyega’s career took off when he became the face of a much more diverse Star Wars, and a lot of his most celebrated roles have a social consciousness to them, pretty great if I do say so myself)
-Virgo venus gets the reputation of being picky in relationships (and they are) but I feel like Sagittarius Venus can be more fickle. Virgo Venus natives have a set of standards and attributes they’re looking for, but Sagittarius Venus natives will put you on a pedestal then knock you off of it when you do something they don’t like.
-Underdeveloped Gemini Venus will ghost you in the middle of a crisis (man Pisces Venus too, but they may feel bad about it lol)
-When it comes to a sense of justice, I feel as though (developed) Scorpio moons give everyone a run for their money
-I feel like Aquarius in big 3 (sun, moon, rising) can often find themselves being forced to be humanitarian/being made to work toward the greater good in some situations (to lend others money, to take care of friends/family, to befriend someone lonely, etc.) I feel like these placements often can be forced to give more of themselves than they are comfortable with (developed ones will often find a great sense of joy in connecting with others through care though)
-On the other hand I feel like Leo in the big 3 can find themselves being forced to pay attention to themselves/become the center of attention (elevated at a job for their hard work, given unexpected attention for a talent, etc.) With Leo placements I notice that in their home life or childhood they may not receive the attention they need, but early on they get attention from outsiders. So they end up going through this arch of getting more comfortable with their sense of self and being in the spotlight.
-Aries placements can often be the first in their family to do something (go to college, start a business, etc) without more long term oriented placements things like businesses may not last though
-Virgo/Gemini/3rd/6th house placements and having an absolute weakness for stationary lol (I have a 3rd house Stellium and I have to force myself not to buy a sketchbook or notebook every time I’m out, with a 40% success rate lol)
-I always expect Libra placements (especially sun/Asc/Venus/mars) to have a very blonde/fair/delicate features naturally but a lot of Libras have this gothic look, like raven hair ivory skin classic beauty (and a lot of PoC I follow with Libra placements can be much darker skinned, which is also a beautifully classic look)
-I think Jupiter and Saturn count towards your personality, but since they’re slower moving planets I view them as the bridge between the asc/sun/moon/mercury/Venus/mars placements that really directly define your personality and the generational planets that show up in traits across people in your age range (but effect everyone differently because of house placements and aspects)
-Do a lot of people get sick during Scorpio season? Or is it just me ?? (During the last week of Scorpio season like 6 people I knew got sick at the same time and I had a medical thing, wtf it’s uncanny)
-I think Neptune in Capricorn is a big reason that depression became such a focal point for younger millennials and elder gen z- well that and late stage capitalism but yknow. (Capricorns being prone to depression, and Neptune ruling over mental illness)
-You may show more of the traits of the sign in your 12th house when inebriated (like sun in 12th may be more outgoing when they drink, moon in 12th may be more introverted/emotional, mercury in 12th may be more chatty and inquisitive, Venus in 12th may be more charming/romantic, mars in 12th may be more aggressive/antagonistic/s*xual)
-Mars in 12th/Pisces mars may find that unresolved tension sits on their subconscious and makes it hard for them to do other tasks
-Cancer over the houses can show where you feel at home (cancer in the 4th is super loyal to their family/mother, cancer in the 7th means you feel at home with a nurturing partner, cancer in the 9th means you feel at home abroad and traveling and with other communities or with religion, cancer in 11th means you feel super at home with your friends.)

Man, They Cloned Tyrone is going out to be completely ignored by Barbenheimer mania, isn’t it? (Or if you have Prime Video, Shin Barbenheimer). It’s a shame because John Boyega, the man can act when he’s not subservient to the will of Disney, and his chemistry with Jaime Foxx and Teyonah Parris makes the plot work in a way lesser actors might not have been able to pull off. I was lucky enough to see the film in a theater last week, but it’s worth the two hours on Netflix.
It’s also a reminder that writers and actors can do unique, fun things and give unique takes on genres like blaxploitation if they’re given the means to do so and aren’t chained to a shared comic book universe or yet another remake.

With this hellsite praising Hugh Grant for being vocal about his experience making Wonka, I feel like fandom needs to sit down and actually have a long, serious discussion about the double standard of praising White men like Hugh Grant and RPatz for dissing the projects they were in, while we crucify actors of color like John Boyega, Constance Wu and Rachel Zegler for even being vaguely negative. I'm not saying that Hugh Grant shouldnt even criticize his projects, he has every right to do so. But, this is a grace not applied to everyone.
