Steven Universe: The Fantastic Mutants chapter 5: Never Again (originally posted on November 16, 2020)

AN: Good to see you all again my dear readers! How have things  been? Am I being too intrusive? Well, doesn't matter! It's good to be  back in business after a few weeks, so let's just cut to the chase, shall we?

"So  how much of this show is actual camping?" HYDRA Bob asked Peridot as  they, along with Deadpool & Lapis, watched Camp Pining Hearts  together at the X-Mansion while surrounded by massive amounts of snack  foods and garbage. "A fair bit, but pretty much everyone comes for the  romance," Peridot answered. "Yeah," Wade stated. "like your crippling yaoi addiction."

"What is yah-oy?" Lapis asked while  mispronouncing this new word just as Pearl came in with a broom. "You really should learn how to pick up after yourselves as guests." The Gem  grumbled while sweeping up crumbs off the carpet. "Hey, wise up Pearl,  I'm basically an honorary member!" Deadpool remarked. "Hey, Flat-Top,  gimme a refill on my coke here!"

"And you should also treat the  people housing you like friends, not your servants." Colossus reminded  them, just as disgruntled as Pearl, while he gave the Merc with a Mouth another bottle of pop when suddenly, Xavier came in. "Ah, Professor!  Would you be so kind as to help us teach Wade here some manners?"

"It's alright, Piotr." Xavier calmed the metal mutant down. "Although Mr.  Wilson here can be a bit of a nuisance, we do need all the help we can  get to rescue Steven and Kitty."

"Thanks for the save Cap'n." Wade  grinned at the aged mutant when someone knocked at the window. "Hey,  anyone in there?!" the voice of Spider-Man called from outside, latching  upside down onto the glass. "Peter!" Pearl exclaimed. "Long time no  see. How are the other Avengers doing?"

"The big six are off in  space right now, and the reserves are holding down the fort for now."  The web-slinger answered as he opened the window and leaped through it.  "When your message reached us, I was the first to take it and brought  along a few pals who might be useful."

As Peter finished talking, a  silver and blue blur burst through the front doors, stopping to reveal  itself as Quicksilver. "Pietro, good to see you!" Colossus exclaimed.  "Must mean Wanda isn't too far behind, da?"

"You are correct."  Scarlet Witch answered as she followed her brother. "Hello again Crystal  Gems." She greeted the Gems. "Hello to you and Pietro too, Wanda,"  Garnet replied as she stepped into the room. "It certainly has been a  while since Thanos. I hope you both are well."

"Oh, never better  Garney!" Quicksilver responded as he sat down between Peridot &  Lapis to watch Camp Pining Hearts with them. "Ooh, I love this show! I  always felt Pierre & Percy have really good chemistry."

"Thank  you for agreeing with me good sir." Peridot added pridefully. "Oh, quit with the shit already!" Wade interjected crossly. "No one ever talks about Pierre and Paulette!"

"You take that back, you crimson clod." Peridot snarled threateningly at the mercenary and soon, an  intense shipping debate between the two began. "Oh, this could take a long while." Pearl sighed in exhaustion.

"I just watch for all the crazy shenanigans these campers get up to." Spider-Man gave his opinion while snatching some snicker-doodles from the ottoman.

"Come on, work!" Kitty groaned in frustration as she continuously tried and failed to break her and Steven from their imprisonment without using her mutant powers. "If only I could find a way to break this collar, then  we'd get outta here easier."

"Why don't I give it a shot?" Steven  suggested, deciding to use his shield to cut the bars apart. However, that failed as well. "It's hopeless. If I didn't come, then maybe we wouldn't be stuck here."

"Hey, don't beat yourself up like that  Steven." Kitty comforted her fellow mutant. "I'm sure the Gems are  already on their way to save us, so try and keep your chin up until  then." She implored Steven, but he remained downtrodden. "Let's face it;  we're here because of my mom."

"Oh, mother issues?" Kitty  realized. "I get it. That's perfectly normal. But you can't always let  the sins of the parent bring you down." She assured him. "Yeah, sins  like taking part in universal genocide before realizing that wasn't good  and instead doing things far worse than that." Steven grumbled, much to  her surprise. "Whoa okay, didn't see that coming!" Kitty exclaimed.  "Far worse how? Did she actually murder someone?"

"She  deliberately left tons of Gems and other races to die for her just  because she was bored of being Pink Diamond, let two of my friends to be  imprisoned for thousands of years, forced Gems who cared for her to  suffer from her faked death and who knows what else!" Steven complained.  "And then there was that whole thing with Magneto."

As if on cue,  the aforementioned leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants stepped into  the brig to interrogate them. "I see you've been making yourselves at  home while you could." He declared before grabbing Steven by the shirt  collar through the cell bars. "Tell me boy, why do you have her  gemstone? Was it passed down to you?"

"As a matter of fact, yes."  Steven answered. "When I was born, my mom died to give birth to me, and I  got her gemstone and all her powers as a result. She also left me with  all her baggage from ages ago, including when she was once a member of  the Great Diamond Authority."

"Great Diamond Authority?" Magneto  wondered, and Kitty seemed just as confused. "Yeah, I have to agree.  There are more Diamonds out there?"

"That's not important right  now," Steven said before Magneto set him down. "Still, why go after me in particular? We're both mutants. We should be on the same side!"

"You already know about how Rose abandoned me at Auschwitz, but the Gems only told you half the story," Erik revealed, turning away from Steven  & Kitty in the process. "My part of this tale is far more complex  than you realize. Like many a Jew during the war, I was prosecuted by  the Nazis for my religion and sentenced to death. But I was a special  case."

Heavy rain poured upon  Poland in 1944 as a large group of imprisoned Jews marched sorrowfully  through Auschwitz, their world nothing but drab colors aside from the  bright yellow Star of David on their clothes signifying their religion.  All around them, more of their people were forced to perform possibly  lethal jobs for their superiors and be treated horribly should they fail  to work or try to resist.

One young man in particular named Erik  Lehnsherr watched just as miserably as his fellow Jews and began to  notice that many of the other prisoners had brands on their arms. As  soldiers began coldly leading their prisoners away from the group,  Erik's parents Edie & Jacob were forcefully separated like the rest  from their son, with Edie being particularly hysterical about having to  leave her child.

Erik raced after his parents in an effort to see  them one last time, but the gates closed before he could get a chance,  and another Nazi grabbed the boy to keep him under control. However,  something miraculous happened. When Erik fruitlessly reached out towards  the gate, it began bending towards him. Another Nazi aided his fellow  soldier in detaining the boy, and two more raced towards him as the  fence began twisting more and more.

Erik's mutant powers awakened  that day as the gates were ripped open with a mere stretch of his hand,  but he was quickly stopped with the butt of a gun to his head from a  fifth soldier. "Bring ihn zu Dr. Schmidt." that soldier commanded his  subordinates. The four Nazis nodded and dragged the unconscious boy  away, to where his destiny would soon be realized.

"And  that's where you first met his mom, right?" Kitty asked her captor.  "Yeah, I don't think we need to hear how she ditched you again."

"As I stated, the story is much deeper than that," Magneto said. "Allow me to continue."

Soon,  HYDRA had come to assist the Nazis in stopping the Howling Commandos  and the Crystal Gems from instigating the Auschwitz breakout. As Rose  began fighting off soldiers, she began counting off the fleeing Jews.  "Let me see how many we got," Rose muttered while trying to do a  headcount. "Agh, there's too many of them! I can barely keep count when  I'm surrounded like this!"

"Less than a million!" Garnet counted  for her leader with her future vision. "However, there are still a few  that we were too late to save, namely the Lehnsherr family. Klaus  Schmidt is holding their son Erik."

"Klaus?" Rose soon came to a  realization. "That was the boy in the office! I have to go ba-" Before  Rose could finish, a HYDRA enforcer took advantage of her letting her  guard down and fired with an anti-Gem weapon, poofing her form.

"Rose!"  Pearl exclaimed while rushing to the deactivated gem lying on the  ground. While Captain America covered for them with his shield, the Gems  made a hasty retreat. "But what about those other Jews?!" Amethyst  exclaimed. "A few prisoners should take this from here." Garnet  answered, just as the Sonderkommando charged at their captors with guns,  knives, axes, and grenades.

Inside the building where Klaus  Schmidt was stationed, the mutant Jew slithered around the hall to avoid  being caught again. Nazis raced outside to combat without once taking  notice of the boy making his escape. Taking a moment to peek outside the  window, he noticed the Gems escaping the concentration camp and  furrowed his brow angrily. "Sie haben mich verlassen."

As the  warfare continued, Erik quietly made his getaway with his newly awakened  mutant powers and used a wrecked chain fence to fly himself away from  Auschwitz.

Many years later in  1963, Magneto was holding a demonstration in New York to make a speech  about the superiority of mutants when she showed up again. Rose Quartz  had decided to show her face to him again after leaving him to rot all  those years ago in Auschwitz, and only now, she shows up with an excuse  to try and make peace.

"You can try to rope yourself into my good  graces all you want Gems," he growled, preparing to fight the Crystal  Gems. "But nothing can ever change the past!"

Ripping a nearby  water tower off its supports, Erik prepared to smash it on top of Rose,  Garnet & Pearl, but then came a loud shriek coming from the Irish  mutant Sean Cassidy, aka Banshee. "Top o' the mornin' to you ladies!"  Banshee exclaimed and let out another scream that brought the master of  magnetism to the ground. "Now Neal!"

"I got you!" the Indian  pyrokinetic Neal Shaara, or Thunderbird to his teammates, boomed while  turning his body into plasma and landing a few hits on Magneto, but the  German fought back by expanding a force-field that pushed him back.  "Longshot, Angel, Mimic, it's all you now!"

"You got it!" Longshot  replied while standing on a rooftop with Mimic and Angel Salvadore and  preparing to throw a large knife at Magneto. "Just got one shot at  this." He muttered to himself just as Amethyst hopped up behind him.  "Hey, what you guys doing?" she asked the three mutants, catching  Longshot off-guard. "Do you mind squirt?!" Longshot barked, but then he  noticed her gem. "Say, you wouldn't happen to know those three, right?"

"We  can discuss it later!" Angel said while sprouting fly-like wings and  flying off. "Hey, wait for me!" Mimic exclaimed, copying his teammate's  power by growing insect wings of his own and soaring after her.

"You  guys wouldn't happen to be like ol' Maggy over there?" Amethyst  continued asking Longshot, who harshly shushed her while trying to keep  his concentration. "Okay, sheesh!"

"Now Longshot!" Banshee  exclaimed as he let out a loud shriek at Magneto to knock him  off-balance, allowing Longshot to fling his knife at the evil mutant.  But Erik stopped the blade before it could reach his face with his  powers and threw it right at Pearl with a wicked grin.

"Pearl,  no!" Rose cried out as she dove in front of her confidant, letting the  knife stab her instead, causing her to ultimately poof and retreat into her gem.

"Rose!" the remaining Gems shouted, racing to protect  their leader's inactive gemstone from Magneto. "Well, that should do  nicely for now." He snidely muttered. "But know this Crystal Gems, we  shall meet again someday soon. Even if we have to wait years to do so!"

With  that, Magneto zoomed off into the sky and left the Crystal Gems &  the X-Men below. "So, sorry about letting your boss end up like this."  Longshot nervously apologized. "That was my knife he threw at her after  all."

"It's alright. Rose will recover soon." Garnet assured the mutant. "By the way, I didn't get your name."

"Call  me Longshot, leader of the X-Men!" Longshot proudly replied. "These are  my teammates; Banshee, Mimic, Angel Salvadore, and Thunderbird. We're  all mutants."

"It is a pleasure to meet you." Thunderbird greeted,  extending a hand to Pearl. "Mutants? I think I remember meeting one, centuries ago." Pearl replied, shaking Neal's hand. "You wouldn't happen  to know anyone named En Sabah Nur?"

This revelation caused the  X-Men to gasp in shock. "Wait, you met Apocalypse?!" Mimic cried. "Let  me guess, you guys know him as a real bad guy?" Amethyst quipped. "Yeah,  he's about yay tall, superiority complex, total Darwinist." Angel  replied. "Come along. We can tell you more about him."

"And maybe  we'll introduce you to the professor too." Banshee added happily. "We'd  be glad to meet your professor." Pearl agreed, and Garnet & Amethyst  nodded as well.

"So that's how the  Gems met Xavier!" Steven realized. "But how come you remember that last  bit happening? You left after poofing Rose."

"Don't think about  it." Magneto assured him. "And now that I have you in our clutches,  watching Doctor Doom experiment on you will be so satisfying."

"But still, you can't just vent your vengeance on a kid!" Kitty exclaimed.

"Yeah,  this isn't what Xavier would want!" Steven replied, forcing Magneto to  drop his stoic façade. "He knows you can be better than this, barring  the terrorism. You're both on the same wavelength when it comes to  protecting mutants, but kidnapping one of your own for your own sake is  just wrong!"

"Y'know, that does seem like something Charles would  say. Though he would've said it better." Magneto relented, pressing a button on the cell to let Steven and Kitty out. "Fight them off while  you still can children. I shall take the blame myself."

"Okay Steven, let's get outta here!" Kitty declared excitedly. "And no matter what happens, I got your back!"

"Actually  Kit, I think I got yours." Steven replied, just as another door opened,  and Mystique stepped into the brig. "Erik! Why have you let the  prisoners out?" she asked Magneto. "It was the boy who convinced me."  Erik revealed. "As it turns out, he's quite good at turning people to  his side."

"Well, you're too late child." Mystique said to Steven. "We have finally landed in Latveria."

The  Crystal Gems, X-Men, Fantastic Four, X-Force, Spider-Man, Scarlet  Witch, and Quicksilver all marched to the Blackbird, ready to go out to  Latveria and save Steven & Kitty. Human Torch and Cyclops were in  charge of piloting the plane while Xavier planted his wheelchair in the  back.

"So tell us what we're in for Reed." Garnet asked Mister  Fantastic, who gave a sharp sigh of regret. "You should know by now that  Doctor Doom is our family's greatest adversary. Intelligence on par  with my own, mastery of the mystic arts, psionic abilities, the works."  Reed explained. "But what I'm sure you probably don't know yet was that  we knew Doom long before he turned out like this."

"Victor,  have you gone mad?!" a younger Reed yelled at his college classmate  Victor, who was standing in front of a large machine generating an  unstable portal. "This machine is highly unstable and could explode at  any moment!"

"I do not care what it takes, Richards!" the man who  would be king of Latveria cried as the machine was on the verge of  self-destructing. "This is the only way I can see my mother again!"

"Hey  Stretch, we got everyone outta here!" Ben Grimm, back then a normal  human being instead of a large rock creature, called for his classmate  while he, Johnny and Sue burst into the laboratory. "You gotta come with  us!"

"No Reed, we can see our mothers again, together!" Doom  tried convincing his rival. Reed hesitated for a moment, weighing his  options between escaping with his friends or getting to see his late  mother Evelyn again. But as he made his decision, he turned away from  Victor. "I'm sorry Vic. But I've moved on."

"How dare you?!"  Victor screeched, while his four contemporaries fled the scene. "Don't  you dare run away! We could've been something more!" Just then, the  portal machine has just about reached its boiling point, and caused the  lab to explode with Doom inside. The last thing he said before the room  collapsed on him was a scream of "RIIIIIIIIICHAAAAAAAARDS!"

"Never  saw him again after that incident. Ol' Iron Mask got expelled, then he  just vanished offa the face of the planet." Ben regaled in the present  day. "That is until he re-emerged as some young upstart billionaire  named Victor Domashev, who funded the space flight that made us into the  Four we are today."

"Hey guys, less backstory, more blasting  off!" Amethyst snapped her fingers. "Pretty sure Steven might be on his  way to being dissected by now!"

"Yeah, and a certain author friend  of ours wants to get this out as quickly as possible." Deadpool agreed,  his medium-aware comment inciting odd stares from the others. "Can we  move onto the next scene already?!"

As  Mystique had declared, Steven was now in the European country of  Latveria, famously ruled by the Fantastic Four's arch-nemesis Victor von  Doom. He and Kitty were led through the aesthetically medieval capital  city Doomstadt, where its citizens whispered in German, Hungarian and an  unknown third language reminiscent of the latter dialect.

"Victor, we have brought the child. And an unwanted guest." Mystique announced  in front of Doom's castle as they crossed the drawbridge. The castle was  guarded by numerous robot soldiers that bore Doom's face, all of them  giving Steven cold and unfeeling glares as he was finally brought before the man who's face the robots bore.

"Steven Universe." Doctor  Doom boomed, resting on his throne while the boy was handcuffed in front of him. "I have heard much about you these past few months child. Erik,  I must commend you for getting the job done, although I've heard of  your possible betrayal and won't tolerate it." Then Doom turned to  Mystique. "Thank you Ms. Darkholme for alerting me of this before you  arrived.

"You are most kind Doctor." Mystique thanked him with a bow. "We hope you return your end of the bargain and grant us mutants  sanctuary in Latveria."

"Raven, you must listen!" Magneto cried to  his second in command. "This boy calls himself a mutant, just like us!  We can't just let Victor experiment on him like this. What if he has  something else planned?!"

"SILENCE!" the king of Latveria roared.  "It seems this child has made you soft Mr. Lehnsherr. No matter." He  rose from his throne and stepped towards Steven & Kitty to give them  a good look. "He shall become useful to me soon. And as for the girl, take her away."

"Yes your Highness." Mystique complied, snapping her fingers to have Juggernaut take Kitty away.

"Hey,  put me down!" Kitty hissed, struggling to break free from the massive  mutant's hands, which was easier said than done since her powers were  still restrained. "Don't worry Steven, I'll find a way to save you!"

"Ah  shaddup!" Juggernaut groaned loudly, stuffing a big finger inside the  smaller girl's mouth to keep her quiet when Mystique put a hand on his  bicep. "And what do you want Bluey?"

"It's about Erik. We may  resort to terrorism to fight for mutant rights, but I think allowing a  child to be experimented on may be going a bit too far." Raven whispered  to Cain while they moved farther away from Doom. "Besides, he is a  mutant much like us."

"So I've heard." The Juggernaut muttered. "But shouldn't he count more as an alien because his momma was one?"

When  the Brotherhood mutants left the throne room, Steven was left all alone  with Magneto and Doom. "What do you want with me Doom?" Steven asked the king. "Was it really necessary to have the Brotherhood kidnap me  when you could've had your robots do it?"

"Why I couldn't have  just sent my Doombots doesn't matter." Doom declared. "But what does  matter is what I want to do to you. You see, you're special Steven, as  you probably know. A being who's a mixture of human and alien DNA, and  that alien DNA might prove very important to me." He explained to  Steven. "I wish to use those genes for my own ends. Perhaps make an army  of similar beings, or perhaps become part-Gem myself to gain ultimate  power! Which is why I chose you in particular."

"Doctor, an  invading ship is approaching Doomstadt." A Doombot announced as it  walked into the throne room. "Shall we send out the reinforcements you  selected?"

"You may, #1961." Doom replied, pressing a few buttons on his arms that opened a door, and behind it were four supervillains.

Trapster, a man in goggles with a container of glue-like substance on his back, attached to a hose with a gun at the end.

Mole Man, a deformed midget in a green suit with a blue visor who was holding a staff in his hand.

The  Puppet Master, a bald, dark-skinned man accompanied by a pair of  human-sized marionettes in the shape of the Human Torch and the Thing,  that he controlled with a special remote.

And the Wizard, a purple armor-wearing supergenius who floated in the air with special anti-gravity discs.

"Frightful  Four, it seems we have some uninvited guests." Doom revealed to the  four villains. "I insist you deal with them at once, while I make my  little guest here at home."

"Yes Doctor." The Frightful Four said  in unison, then the marched out of the throne room to battle. Once again  Steven was alone in the throne room with Victor & Erik, and the  former was all too eager to get things started.

"Now then, shall we begin testing?" Doom asked Steven maliciously, and Steven replied with a very nervous gulp.

After  three months of work, it's finally done! We're getting close to the end  of this guys, and I couldn't be more excited. But for now, I think I'm  gonna take a little break to focus on college stuff for a bit, and I'll  be back soon with not just a new chapter, but also a brand spankin' new  Steven Universe tale I've had on the brain for a while. It's an AU  rewrite of Steven Universe Future aptly named Steven Universe: Alternate  Future. I feel like answering crossover ships is cheating, but I'm currently fleshing out a BBC Merlin x Umbrella Academy AU and trying to decide what I want to ship between klaus/gwaine and klaus/lancelot.

Best of the Decade: The Vampire Diaries delivered a perfect love triangle in its third season

To celebrate the end of the 2010s, Entertainment Weekly’s Must List is looking back at the best pop culture of the decade that changed movies, TV, music, and more (catch up on our list so far, which includes the MCU’s big Snap, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s history-making hit Hamilton, and Beyonce’s iconic Coachella set). Today, we look back on The Vampire Diaries and its perfect love triangle.

There’s a reason we’ve seen so many love triangles on television. The classic storytelling device is a surefire way to drum up drama in any situation. It taps into a fandom’s desire to root for something, to feel competitive about something. If shipping was born out of fans wanting a particular love story, why not give them two and make them choose? Well, because it can get complicated. For as often as we see love triangles on television series, they don’t always work.

Love triangles are a high-wire act. The two relationships needs to feel different enough, though both must feel valid. You have to give each couple their moments without making the central person’s preference obvious. And most of all, it has to feel right when that central person finally chooses someone. Audiences should be able to look back at the story and understand that decision. (They might not like it, but it should make sense.)

So yeah, love triangles are fun. Will Joey choose Dawson or Pacey? Will Rory choose Jess or Dean? It’s a way to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. But when handled correctly, it should be about more than suspense. It should be about great storytelling. And when The Vampire Diaries premiered its third season in 2011, it delivered on all the promises of a love triangle.

After two years of establishing the love story of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), the teenager as familiar with loss as she was with homework, and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), the undead man who brought her back to life, it was time for Stefan to step out of the picture for a bit. (He left town with Klaus as part of a deal to save his brother’s life.) Enter Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Stefan’s older brother. The show had already established Damon’s undeniable connection with his brother’s girl, and through the experience of trying to track down Stefan, Elena and Damon grew closer. But again, high-wire act. Elena, the selfless human who put those she loved before herself, couldn’t suddenly fall head over heels for the selfish, impulsive vampire who once snapped her brother’s neck. But what she could do was slowly start to see other sides to Damon, all the while trying to get Stefan back.

The groundwork was laid as early as episode 2, when Damon told Elena, “When I drag my brother from the edge and deliver him back to you, I want you to remember the things you felt while he was gone.” The key words being “while he was gone.” Stefan’s absence was crucial to building the love triangle: If she felt things for Damon while Stefan was gone, what would it mean when he returned? By pairing the story of Damon’s redemption with that of Stefan’s downfall as Klaus (Joseph Morgan) forced him to drink human blood and turn off his humanity, Elena’s relationship with the brothers was flipped on its head. She found herself once again paired with the “good Salvatore brother” — only this time, it was Damon.

And once that bond with Damon was set, Stefan started to make his way back into the picture.

If we’re talking about the balance needed in a love triangle, TVD’s third season could walk a tightrope. Just as Damon started to win Elena over, Stefan proved that she shouldn’t give up on him. Damon made Elena jealous by flirting with another girl in one scene, Stefan caught her when she fell in the next. We’re not talking about epic, sweeping romantic moments. We’re talking about a look here, a touch of the knee there. Because the show was calculated and incredibly subtle in both building the relationship of Damon and Elena and rebuilding the relationship of Stefan and Elena. You have to be when your season contains 22 episodes. Damon and Elena didn’t share a kiss until episode 11 of the season. Stefan and Elena, the love story upon which the show had been built in its first two years, did not kiss until the season finale. Let’s say that one more time: The show managed to get through 21 episodes without its core couple so much as kissing, and yet Stefan and Elena’s love never felt like it was gone. It coursed through the show with the same electricity it always had, as the thing that propelled each of them forward.

It should be stated that the show was able to survive on an entire season of almost-moments in large part due to the chemistry between the actors. Not every show could get away with a look between two people holding as much weight as Stefan and Elena in a closet in Chicago or Damon and Elena in his bathroom after the bonfire. But thanks to that chemistry, the show didn’t need multiple make-outs and big speeches to make the love triangle feel real.

And by never having Elena waver in her love for Stefan, despite her feelings for Damon, she remained likable as the heroine of the story. At no point did she forget Stefan in favor of her new relationship with Damon. She struggled with both, all season long. As she told Stefan in episode 18, “I never stopped loving you.” And with that love as the foundation of the triangle, she remained relatable in her emotional struggles, which allowed viewers to become invested in both possible outcomes and guaranteed that no matter which brother she chose, fans would follow that love story.

Somehow, The Vampire Diaries managed to build a new love story without destroying the one that launched its series. And furthermore, it found a way to make Damon feel like a viable candidate, despite Elena’s unfaltering love of Stefan, which meant viewers went into the season 3 finale genuinely not knowing which brother Elena would choose. After all, her options were very different. As Rose (Lauren Cohan) told Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) in episode 19, “[Stefan’s] love is pure; he’ll always be good for her. Damon is either the best thing for her or the worst.” So the question became: Is Damon currently the best thing for her? Or the worst?

It all built to the second half of the season finale, when Elena had to make a decision because she believed both brothers were hours away from dying. She had to choose which one got the goodbye. And ultimately, she chose Stefan. Because, as she told Damon, “No matter what I feel for you, I never unfell for him,” a line that acknowledged her feelings for both brothers and allowed viewers to understand her decision. (And just to make sure the Delena shippers didn’t lose hope, the writers threw in a flashback that revealed that Damon and Elena actually met first.)

In its third season, TVD told a beautifully balanced, perfectly paced story about a human girl torn between two very different vampire brothers. And in the end, she made her choice. As she’d later claim, it was the best choice she ever made, and for viewers, it was one of the best love triangles TV had ever seen.

Sebastian helps me deal with a lot of things going on in my life and I always find comfort in him. The relationship I have with Sebastian is very complicated and grey, but it's oddly the one that brings me the most comfort

Warning: This relationship is very nsfw and has dark themes to it. My attachment to Sebastian and the relationship I have with him is one that most wouldn't consider healthy with strong yandere and dark themes. It's more of a vent relationship if anything. 1. Who is your favorite character in 2? Mirio. Fucking. Togata, bitches. He is precious and I love him and he inspires me and he is the best boi.  2. Who is your least favorite character in 1? Onion. That’s all I have to say.  3. What is your favorite episode of 4? I would have to say episode 8, Ghosts, from season 1. This episode really freaks me out but also makes me feel better about hallucinations I sometimes have due to Schizophrenia. Emma having those hallucinations about Will makes me feel better that others do struggle with weird and messed up stuff like that and I don’t feel so alone. If you struggle with stuff like that then know that I’m with you and I hope you have an amazing future and life. Luv u <3. 4. What is your favorite season of 5? I think season 1 because it just gives me nostalgia and it was also a lot weirder than the most recent episodes, which I love! 5. Who is your favorite couple in 3? God, I absolutely ship Oswald and Edward. 6. Who is your favorite couple in 2? Deku x Ururaka. All the way. 7. What is your favorite episode of 1? I would have to say Mindful Education from season 4, Stuck Together from season 5, Storm in the Room also from season 4, Keystone Motel from season 2, and On The Run from season 1. I freaking love and relate to the feeling of terrible guilt and Here Comes A Thought really makes me feel better. I high key relate to Lars feeling like he’s just a coward and that he can’t do anything :(. Steven yelling out that he thinks he was just made to deal with Rose’s mistakes fucking hits me, man. Steven blaming himself for other people’s arguing is also very relatable for me, and Amethyst is my favorite character because I relate to her so much because of the episode, On The Run. (Also sorry this is long, I just couldn’t pick one episode.)

8. What is your favorite episode of 5? Oh christ, what do I choose? Uuuuummmm, I’ll pick the episode where Finn and Jake are inside that giant and there’s a bunch of bears living in it and they just enjoy partying. (I fucking love the line, “Help! Help me...hang these streamers! “What?” “It’s not a party without streamers!”) And I like the last episode where my OTP finally becomes canon (you know the one). There are a lot of other episodes I like but I can’t name them.  9. What is your favorite season of 2? Definitely season 3! I loved seeing all the villains and all the epic fight scenes. I also love the character development in it. It’s pretty great!! 10. How long have you watched 1? I’ve been watching (I think) since the first episode was out for just a couple of weeks. After that, I slowly started getting into it more and watched more and more episodes and now I’m obsessed!! 11. How did you become interested in 3? Gotham has been out for a while and I watched a few of the first episodes when it barely came out but couldn’t watch them anymore after a bit. For the longest, I couldn’t watch Gotham but I wasn’t that worried about it. After getting Netflix, I watched more episodes and THEN started getting really into it. I always saw a lot of memes and stuff like that about Gotham and that only fueled my desire to watch it more.  12. Who is your favorite actor in 4? Bex Taylor-Klaus, the actor for Audrey. 13. Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5? Steven Universe has me shook, My Hero Academia has me in anticipation, and Adventure Time will forever be in my heart. However, if I have to prefer one of the others, I would say...My Hero Academia???? I don’t know??? 14. Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3? Steven Universe, I’ve watched almost every single episode of Steven Universe but I’m getting to the end of Gotham.  15. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? I guess I want to be Audrey??? Or can I pick none of them??? 16. Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work? I mean, I guess it could? We can like have Detective Gordon and Detective Bullock working on the case of the murders happening by Ghostface or something like that but I don’t really know. 17. Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple. I guess Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond? A lot of people see them as sisters but I just see them as two powerful moms so I guess I can see it happening but it's weird but its also okay??? 18. Overall, which show has a better storyline, 3 or 5? Gotham ‘cause it’s telling the story of a bunch of Batman comics characters and how Batman came to be and stuff. Adventure Time was more of like a slice of life show but set in a fantasy world, y’ know? 19. Which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?                                           oOF, DEFINITELY My Hero Academia, I mean, we have the villains theme, Just Another Hero, Jet Set Run, You Say Run, You Can Become A Hero, and many more heccin amazing songs that make this show just that better!

Voltron Legendary Defender NYCC 18' Panel Recap

Ahhh okay here’s the recap post I promised! It took a little while to transcribe all the individual videos I had (I think almost 11 in the end? lol). So, normally I’m not a morning person at all, but as soon as I saw NYCC announce the Hammerstein panel and realizing this might very well be the last VLD panel ever, you can betcha that I got up at the crack of dawn to get my ass down to Hammerstein this morning pfftt. I got there around 9ish, and while there was already a line it moved fairly quickly after a quick bag check. Since I was by myself, I managed to get a pretty decent seat, actually much than I anticipated, located in the early middle-ish of the ground floor seating.

The panel began with the moderator (I forgot his name, sorry mod! D:) with introducing the cast and crew: Joaquim Dos Santos & Lauren Montgomery (Executive Producers), Josh Hamilton (Story Editor), and the VA’s for Allura (Kimberly Brooks), Pidge (Bex Taylor-Klaus), Shiro (Josh Keaton), and Lance (Jeremy Shada). Keith’s VA (Steven Yeun) didn’t make it, but I’m assuming maybe this was because he had prior commitments to promote BURNING at the New York Film Festival this weekend?

Joaquim and Lauren started off the panel regarding the Shiro and Adam storyline in S7, and some “understandably hurt reactions to it." Joaquim stated that they emphasize with everyone’s reactions and "really do feel for you,” while Lauren added: “so we clearly can’t change what’s already happened, but this experience has stirred conversation about what meaningful representation is, and we hope that this leads to better representation in the future.”

VLD Show Retrospective & General Fan Appreciation

 Lauren then changed gears to take a moment to say: "how proud we are of our crew who has worked so hard, and our amazing cast who has bought so much life to these characters over these past four years," and a "huge thank you to all of the fans who have just showered us with so much love and support."

Joaquin added that they wanted "our final New York Comic Con, really our final con of the entire series to be a celebration of everyone's hard work. And a really awesome look back at what came before this and an awesome look forward to our final season, of a show that we're so proud to be a part of, and had you guys along for the ride."

The moderator asked what it's been like throughout the years to get to this specific part (season 8) and Joaquim said: "It's amazing for us. It's grown every single year, you guys [the crowd] is the best. It's been an absolute honor working on the show."

Josh H. (VLD's Story Editor) also noted: "It's weird being in the office alone, maybe five of us writers in one room," and they question what will or will not work story-wise, but "then you come to Comic Con and people start to cheer because they love a moment so much."

 "It's so different when you're alone by yourself as a writer, and then when you're with an awesome crowd of people. It invigorates you."

 Josh K. (Shiro's VA) added that it's been amazing for him to meet and work with the cast, but specifically highlighted his appreciation for seeing all the "incredible talent that's been peppered throughout the fandom.

Specifically emphasizing how the cast and crew "see so many amazing cosplay, so much incredible art, videos, everything. You guys [the fans] really dove into this show and we love it. We're just as much fans as all of you, and we love sharing the show with all of you. It's been a fantastic experience and I'm sad it's coming to an end."

Jeremy (Lance's VA) chimed in: "You don't to be part of many shows like Voltron in your career, so it's been a blessing to be a part of this show. Everybody here puts in so much hard work into their craft and what they do, but you never know what's going to do well or not, and this show DEFINITELY did very, very well."  And this was because of the fans, particularly highlighting the passion and dedication, and how "it means the world to us."

 Jeremy then pointed out this was a crowd where there actually seemed to be more cosplayers than non-cosplayers, prompting Josh K. to note: "I love going to these cons and looking at everyone cosplaying, and pretending in my head that Voltron is real and now I'm at Space Mall."

 Bex (Pidge's VA) chimed in to say that she would make things a little more selfish since: "I've always wanted to play a cartoon character so this was very literally a dream come true for me." But not only to play a cartoon character, but to play a powerful female warrior."

Bex additionally noted how amazing how that's what's resonated most is "for young kids to see themselves in Pidge and Allura. It's just been the most heartwarming experience."

Kimberly (Allura's VA) then spoke to the experience among the cast and crew and how they've become good friends with one another, and how it's "bittersweet that this is our last convention, but it's been amazing."

Season 7 Retrospective (General Storytelling  Approach & the VA's Favorite Moments)

Josh H. started off that: "S7 was meant to be putting our paladins at a disadvantage."

 So the writers came up with the concept of a 3 year timeskip and "all these stories about going home, and Hunk with his family kind of sprung up naturally from that."

 "There's also a story about Allura. It's kinda subtle, but Allura lost Altea, and now she has a chance to redeem herself and help save Earth."

"A lot of these personal moments start to pop up when we got this new angle, so starting off with this 3 year time gap really helped us."

Joaquim noted it was cool seeing the fan buildup with getting the paladins back home to their families, and "knowing for us, from a story perspective that it was coming down the line, and seeing everything get to that fever pitch point. It was a really great payoff to see it all play out."

Lauren switched gears to comment on the "insane logistics" of the whole big Galra attack at the end. They had some initial trouble figuring out how the Zaiforge cannons were supposed to work.

 Josh H. chimed in to note that Joaquim kept coming to the writers room to say that something needed to be different about this Galra attack, so he and Mitch Iverson would kind of go on walks and try to figure out how the Zaiforge cannons worked.

While Lauren noted that the logistics was a "massive headache, they were still pretty happy with how it turned out since "it was pretty suspenseful, never a dull moment."

 Josh H. added that plot-wise, he liked how the storytelling perspective got to stay on Earth. "We knew that there were going to be seven, Earth-centric episodes," so that gave a lot of time to "meet some new people and come up with MFE pilots."

The writers really enjoyed cracking who the MFE pilots were individually, particularly with the way that Leifsdottir thinks and speaks, so "having this time to stay in one place and time was really fun."

Jeremy noted that they were really happy to have AJ LoCascio (Lotor's VA) still stick around and voice James Griffin in S7.

Joaquim mentioned that for a show of this nature, with all the focus on action-adventure and big explosions and giant robots, it was unusual to "take two episodes and just focus on the logistics on what's going back on Earth while madness is happening. Essentially you had all these meetings going on for what's ostensibly a kid's show."

 In terms of trying to find a fine balance between the Earth storyline and Paladin storyline, Lauren and Jaoquim did wonder whether they could spend that much time on Earth without "seeing Voltron punch something" (ROFL) but they knew it was the right decision as they were reading the scripts when they came in, and it just felt right, and "that's ultimately been a testament to the show. Just going with your gut."

Favorite, Standout Moments of Season 7

 Bex noted that her favorite episodes of S7 were the Earth-centric ones where "we got to experience what was happening on Earth while we [the paladins] were gone. It was everything I got to see and nothing I got to see in the scripts since we weren't there."

 Kimberly noted that the Hunk love was amazing, since he's so "lovable, and we got to see where he was inspired to cook and do all the things that he does, and why he's such a cool guy."

Josh K. added that Hunk really proved himself as the heart of the team.

Jeremy noted that the VA's knew that the Atlas was going to be a thing through the scripts, but they weren't aware of what it actually looked like beforehand.

 Bex humorously chimed in to offer that "Atlas is thiccc. I needs that workout routine, okay?" (omfg)

Jeremy agreed that it has a "nice big booty. It's a thick robot." (And at that point, everyone in the audience started wheezing, shrieking, or cackling).

Josh K. added that the day the episode aired, there was a group chat among the VA's where someone just texted "Atlas is thiccc" and Bex admitted that she had this saved to her Tweetdeck for a longgg time.

 Josh K. admitted that while he's probably biased, this was still his favorite episode, since Josh wanted Shiro to have everything that he deserves, and he loved how "everything was falling apart and everyone was looking for Shiro to lead."

And in terms of the words and the stage direction, Josh remembered just even reading the script just made him swell up with pride for Shiro and think: "This is amazing. Everybody that didn't believe him in the Garrison came back, those that strapped him to a gunnery, and didn't want to listen to him about Voltron is now looking at him to save them."

Bex added the part where Coran calls Shiro 'Captain' for the first time was one of those moments.

And when Shiro finally makes that connection and is able to transform the ship, Josh knew that while this moment was going to happen, he still had no idea how the Atlas transformation was going to look like beforehand.

Josh fondly recalled that he was hoping to see his wife's reaction to the Atlas transformation for the first time, but he missed her whole reaction since he himself couldn't take his eyes off the scene.

Entire Show Retrospective: Favorite Moments and Why

Jeremy’s Pick (Lance and Keith rescuing Shiro in ep 1): "It's special to me, because I think this may have been one of my audition scenes, but it was really one of the  first scenes where you get to see Lance's personality and I love these little moments where he's just very kinda funny and such a goofball, but he still has this goal and is a loyal person. So, when we were recording this scene, I thought: 'Ok I get the character now and this sets the tone for what I wanna do with his character."

Bex’s Pick (Pidge confessing her true identity as a girl): "I love this part. This was something that was in the very beginning not in the audition side, but the character breakdown of Pidge's masquerade as a boy in order to find her family. And who doesn't want to play Mulan? So, it was something that I was waiting for and I remember going back and forth on whether this scene was going to happen in episode 4 or 7. It was really exciting when we got to that part of the script and how we were doing this, and I loved how easy it is."

Josh K's Pick (Shiro rescues Slav): "The thing we know about Shiro, at least in the beginning, is that it seems like there's nothing wrong with him. He seems perfect, he can do no wrong, he's a nice guy, and can kick butt. So sometimes you think, 'can he do no wrong? What's his deal?' and in S2, Shiro meets somebody named Slav and it's once meeting Slav, you start to see that Shiro is not completely perfect. Shiro can get upset, and there definitely is a crack in that paladin armor.”

Josh H's Pick (The 'Slipperies' Scene): "Tim Hendrick came up with the concept of the slipperies as Coran sweating too much and slipping everywhere. Everytime I watch this scene I still legitimately laugh even though the script went through several rewrites."

Kimberly's Pick (Allura and Coran and the milkshake origin): "I think the clip is self-explanatory in terms of our reaction to it."

Lauren’s Pick (When the Paladins hoot fun-sentry into space): "So my clip isn't any moment in the series, but a moment that embodies what our crew does when it comes together, and everybody brings their own thing to it, so it culminates into something so much more."

How Much of the VA's are like their Actual Characters

Josh K. noted that back in 2014, he had just become an actual dad, so he made that weird transition from "living for yourself to having a life were you hold someone else's life in your hands.

”So, he drew a lot of Shiro's "dedication to his team from that feeling. That's really where it all came from.”

While he confesses to generally being more like Lance in real life, still with age and parenting, Josh admits that he's become more of that "space dad type of guy, having to wrangle kids and all that." 

Likewise, he's always liked telling bad dad jokes and now revels in still being able to tell them as an actual dad.  

Bex admits that for her, she feels that "Pidge is so powerful in her own way and so confident, which is so rare for someone so young." So, while Bex isn't sure if she's entirely become the Pidge that she wants to be, but she's getting there.

Kimberly notes that she strives to be like Allura (Jeremy interrupted to say that Kimberly is a queen and has gotten the queenly wave down). 

What Kimberly finds appealing about Allura is that she's a flawed character, but also beautiful, generous, smart, and strong - "these are all things I strive to be, and I feel like I'm becoming more and more like Allura as the show progresses." 

Kimberly also added that Allura is her favorite character that she's ever had the pleasure to voice. Even after recording many, many sessions, Kimberly still had no idea what Allura physically looked like, so the first time she was shown the character concept artwork, Kimberly was "so choked up and blown away," since she had no idea what her skin tone was going to be and so on.

Jeremy confesses that he kind of leans into Lance's personality in real life, but in a joking manner since he likes making people laugh. He finds Lance to be such a goofball and that 'adorkable' type of person, and "that's definitely me in real life, but Lance also has all that sensitive loyal side to him which I have and relate to as well." 

"He's fun to play, but while Lance tries hard to be very flirty at times, I'm not really like that way. Maybe with my girlfriend, I'll try to say flirty jokes and she'll just laugh and tell me to keep trying."

The Existence of the Voltron Scratch Reel

 Lauren explained the concept of a scratch reel where in between the storyboarding, animating, and voice acting process, sometimes they realize that they might need some additional lines, maybe lines get condensed, change names, and so on.  

But they don't always have time to get the actors back in, so "a lot of times, it falls upon one of us to put in some temporary dialogue and fill that space, they animate to it, and then we get the animation back and the actors replace the dialogue and it sounds great. But in the meantime, we get to watch some ridiculously horrible acting on behalf of the entire staff - editors, assistants, etc."

Bex noted: "It's always breaks my heart a little to dub over the scratch tracks, because it's so beautiful," while Josh added that he'd love to see an episode just entirely of scratch tracks."

Joaquim chimed in that they had two seasons of the 'Scratchy Awards,' where they handed out staff awards for the best scratch tracks produced (hahaha), where Mitch Iverson spraypainted a bunch of backscratchers with 'Scratchy' Awards' on it.

 After they aired the scratch reel, Josh H. noted that there are still some times where scratch ends up being in-screen and it's an unexpected surprise when they're reviewing the editing process.

The most popular scratch reel choice among the VA's is Director Steve Ahn, who had a lot of the 'Ok, calm down' scratch scenes, and Steve Yeun once asked: "Could I get that as my ringtone?"  

Jeremy said his favorite parts of the scratch reel were when half the scene were the actual VA lines, and then it was one non-VA word.

 Benjamin Kaltenecker did all of the 'moo' sounds for Kaltenecker.

Josh K. noted that Joaquim voices a pretty decent Shiro, and "that's why you didn't see any scratch scenes of that because it's not bad."

Bex noted that she loved it when Lauren had to voice some of the Galra men for the scratch scenes.

 Lauren noted that most of the scratch scenes were recorded late at night and the cast & crew weren't really fighting to do a scratch scene, and "we're not usually fighting to voice a character, but it's more like 'who has to do it now? Who hasn't done it in awhile??’

“While we're in shame of our bad acting...poor Rhys [Coran's VA] had to sit through and be insulted since nobody can actually pull off Coran's accent.” Though, Joaquim pointed out that Jeremy does a decent Coran impression which he then demonstrated for the crowd.

Joaquim added: "The hardest thing to do is to record scratch in the booth and it's played back to the actual VA's and we can't hear them because their mics are off, but they're pantomiming the loudest laughter."

Kimberly reassured that the VA's loved hearing the crew's voices for the scratch reel.

Josh K. added that "it's like hearing your friends do an impression of you and makes ADR sessions fun, since they can be so technical at times. It's like getting to watch bloopers."

Getting Some of the Awesome Voltron Guest Stars & Fun VA Recording Moments

Joaquim & Lauren: "We bat around some ideas internally, and couldn't believe when the casting directors were on board with some of our ideas: like getting Vince Shlomi or the ShamWow guy to voice the knife store owner in the Space Mall."

The show's head of casting, Anya's eyes light up this suggestion, and it was kind of a celebrity moment when he came in to record.

Weird Al Yankovic was a fixture of Lauren's childhood, and it certainly helped having a voice director legend like Andrea Romano to fall back on.

 At one point, they had Rhys Darby (Coran) and Paul Rubin sort of 'battling it out in the Space Mall haggling sequence' and it was like 'the Lake House of back-and-forth, like they were on two astral planes' but when it came together, it was 'magical.'

 Since Nolan North voiced both Sam Holt and Commander Iverson, there were literally scenes where he was just literally talking to himself, and Lauren noted that "the guy's such a professional that he does things straight through instead."

 Lauren also noted that Cree Summers is one of those VA's who will sideline an entire session, since she's such a hilarious, big personality.

 Jeremy and the other VA's said that recording with the cast was always the highlight of his week. But one of the coolest things was when they had the entire, locked-in VA cast together for the first time, and they realized that they had picked the right people.

 "I know I'm doing my job right in the recording booth when I'm making my cast mates laugh."

Sometimes the cast would get into fun side conversations catching up that Andrea (the voice director) had to interrupt and remind them that: 'We're literally in a take right now and you're having a full conversation. You can catch up later.'

 Bex once freaked out Josh K. and AJ since they were in the middle of a conversation and they didn't hear the sound beeps, but Bex did and suddenly yelled 'GO!'

Season 8 Plot Teasers

Lauren: "Basically our paladins have freed Earth from Galra rule and all that's left to kind of finish the job and free all the universe."

Joaquim: "We do have this one character that you might have noticed in a clip that becomes pretty pivotal, and she's been gone for a bit..." (Which presumably was Hagger/Honerva since the S8 was then aired) 

Fun Misc. Show Tidbits

Bex apparently came to Pidge's audition in a Batman onsie.

During the 'Slipperies scene', the little side panels of Coran's pants come apart and flap like little tails. This wasn't something that was originally in the design, but the animators added it.

The creators once had an original design where Coran had a tail, and Lauren noted "it was super cute."

Jeremy thought the whole Shiro clone saga was awesome, and he specifically loved the Black Paladins episode. 

Lauren and Joaquim admitted that they were even shocked by that storyline since they had a very different storyline at first - "that's the interesting thing about the creative process, since you'll get notes and have to make some changes, but it then takes you to really unexpected places and make for some unique and interesting storylines."

There wasn't time for a Q&A portion, and the panel ended with the Season 8 teaser/first look. Though, I'd have to say that it was still definitely fun watching the teaser with such a large crowd of fans, and basically shrieking and gasping together at different intervals hahaha.

Highlights (I highlighted...a lot. Oops.)

Josh was on a recording hiatus when Shiro was gone and got really excited when he was called back because he thought Shiro was back. “Where’s Shi-Sven?!”

On the differences between old and new Voltron: “All the love in the world to gremlin Pidge, but I’m doing it my way.” -Bex

Bex considers Pidge a representative for non-binary and asexual people.

All three of them love seeing fan’s creativity and art, Bex has a whole folder of saved posts on IG of Voltron fanart so go tag her in posts.

Josh said he’s been MIA from social media because he only has one arm; Bex: “you mean you weren’t trapped in Lauren’s basement with Jeremy?”

Josh wants to see Shiro use the black bayard to fight (possibly as the same chain whip thing Lotor used). He’d also want to see something wind/sky related, like a force push.

They have an inside joke while recording, the “brown lion,” guardian spirit of anxiety, aka fart jokes.

Bex’s most challenging scene so far has been season 4 episode 2, Reunion. Josh’s and Kimberly’s haven’t aired yet, but Josh’s second hardest was Shiro’s escape because it was done after animation and was mostly action noises.

Bex said Josh and Steven are masters at ADR and a thrill to watch.

They’re all really happy with Joaquim and Lauren’s work and wouldn’t change much about the show. Bex said “add more gay and I’m happy.” Kimberly wants to get Hunk backstory!!!

They’re really happy to represent LGBT and minorities. Bex said the bathroom scene in Space Mall received some backlash but a lot of fans were able to identify with it so she was happy.

A fan mentioned Josh’s death threats and Josh said he tries to distance himself from toxicity but a majority of the fandom is good.

Bex knew about Pidge’s gender twist from the start and said she dropped her register a little at the beginning but focused more on Pidge and her family than just sounding like she had a penis.

Kimberly’s least favorite line is “particle barrier,” Bex’s is anything with scientific jargon.

Josh’s favorite headcanon is that Shiro was originally more happy-go-lucky, joking around with Matt at the Garrison and pulling pranks.

Bex likes asexual, non-binary Pidge. Kimberly didn’t know what a headcanon was until Bex explained it.

Bex also headcanons that Pidge absolutely climbs on everything and hangs out of the vents.

Favorite ships? Josh likes the black lion, the castle, and Lotor’s ship.

Bex isn’t going to endorse anything, but she likes the way Lancelot sounds. (Kimberly didn’t know what a ship was either)

Does Shiro suspect mind tampering? Josh thinks Shiro knows something is wrong but doesn’t want to burden the others with it, so it was a big step for him to open up to Lance about it.

About Shiro's sexual orientation and Shallura. I've heard it was the plan since the beginning and that's great but - I can see everything but the hand hold™ platonic... That hand hold got me shipping it and it seemed like even Bex and Kim shipped it. So. What happened?

Alright, these are my winded thoughts on what could have happened behind the scenes! Obviously I can’t know for sure, and maybe season 7 could change things, but this is my take: 

So, the EPs Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos said that it was planned from the beginning, but I believe Mitch Iverson (one of the writers) said that they didn’t get to incorporate Shiro’s sexuality into the show until more recently in the writing thanks to Bex Taylor Klaus (Pidge’s voice actress) pushing for it. Initially, executives wanted Adam and Shiro to be roommates. Thankfully that didn’t stick. 

It’s possible that they intended Shiro to be the LGBTQA+ rep since the beginning, but weren’t given the OK to openly show it. I remember in past interviews from JDS and Lauren saying that they were doing their best to push for queer representation. 

Maybe the writers added romantically coded scenes between Shiro and Allura just in case they weren’t allowed to pair him with a man while they wrote the rest of the seasons. Having a respectful and trusting relationship between the two leaders of Voltron makes sense, after-all. Because they’re co-leaders, they have to be communicating often and that could very naturally develop into something romantic. 

Also remember, the EPs have stated multiple times before that they intended Shiro to die after season 2 and not come back, but the execs wouldn’t allow them to (which brought in the whole clone plot). So, that further complicates this entire situation. I believe it was said that they wanted the scene between Shiro and Adam to be shown at the end of season 2, probably as a flashback for Shiro moments before his death (which I’m very glad they didn’t do that to their queer character, because yikes). 

But like I said, at the time they were writing season 2, they may not have been allowed to show an obvious queer relationship. So they held onto it to be incorporated later into the show if they were given the OK. 

As for Kim and Bex: That also kind of confuses me. Kim brought up Sha//ura at MomoCon 2018 (which was recent) after asking if the fans ship Allura with anyone. And Bex happily gestured to Kim and Josh while the audience applauded. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to mean anything, or if they just adore the ship. I’m thinking the latter. From my understanding, the VAs are all very supportive of shipping, so it’s possible they don’t want to alienate anyone and are just having fun. 

TL;DR: It’s possible they scrapped a romance between Shiro and Allura because they were given the OK to have Shiro be queer later in the writing process. 

Which, I can’t blame them. Even if it could come across as inconsistent writing by not having Shiro acknowledge or even bring up having someone on earth who once cared about him, it is groundbreaking to have this kind of representation. Especially in a kid’s show. Aside from Steven Universe, we really haven’t gotten such explicit queer representation for a main character in a popular children’s show. It just hasn’t been done, if hardly at all. 

But I would also like to say, until we see the last two seasons of Voltron, it doesn’t necessarily leave Sha//ura off limits in canon. I think it’s a slim chance, compared to what it originally was just weeks ago before Adam’s reveal, but we aren’t even sure if Shiro and Adam will get back together. All we have to go on is one (intense) flashback so far and we know Shiro has been away for at least two years. So, I’m looking forward to seeing it all unfold!

Either way, ship and let ship. Fandom is supposed to be fun!

Hope that provides insight and not any confusion! LOL. That’s just my take on it. Unfortunately, I can’t know what really happened behind the scenes, but maybe it will be acknowledged sometime in the future.

End of Unchanging Days pt.2

Despite Steven addressing our main character in gendered tone in Spanish (nouns are gendered so...) , the main character is actually *not* . So sorry if I butcher his Spanish orz. 

On one day, you kept performing your daily routine akin to broken recorder. Doing activities without recognizing the why of it. Waking up in lonely apartment on the second floor of a bookstore, having simple breakfast, commuting to Veilgarden, mingling with fellow creative souls, returning home and sleep, preparing yourself for inevitable rude awakening and another unproductive day.

The endless chore was broken by a man out of a storybook, whisking you away from your quaint little haven in the middle of Fallen London downtown. Away from the safety of your room and familiar schedule. Away from obstructive low ceiling of a home.  Away from scattered papers and reference books. Away from tiring chatters of Veilgarden guests. Away from a melancholic landlord. Away from your humdrum of unchanging daily life as the man carry you into the darkness of sleepy Fallen London.

You weren't sure when you passed out. Certainly there's a mixture of fear and excitement as you saw upside down Fifth City seconds after both you and your 'kidnapper' left the bookstore. You broke a quiet, brief laughter before everything drowned into darkness. A familiar darkness you encountered each time you lay down upon your apartment's simple bed. Though there's something slightly different about this darkness. There's a small hint of sunlight and grass within, inviting long forgotten sensations and memories. Thus, you entrusted yourself into this kind darkness.

Chatters. Chatters. Chatters. 

Chatters. Chatters. Chatters.

You could hear chatters somewhere in the darkness. Words became clearer as you regained consciousness. You found yourself on a sofa, covered with dark colored suit. You quickly recognized whose attire it was. It didn't take long for you to find the owner. Without the suit, you could see well-fitting vest and white shirt underneath. He was speaking with a similarly impeccably dressed man. Only, instead of crimson, the conversation partner favors azure themed suit and tie. His most eye-catching feature was a huge scar on one side of his cheek. You could not register words the two uttered, but you could deduce from their tone that the topic was not pleasant.

The scarred man looked at your direction and quickly became aware of you regaining consciousness. 'Looks like our amigo here has awoken'. You noticed an accent in his voice. Italian? Or Spanish, perhaps?

You shivered involuntarily as his voice seemed to pierce you akin to sharp edges of ice. Due to uneasiness or being polite in general, you rose. Your throat felt oddly dry and you unconsciously reached for your neck. Your 'kidnapper' kindly handed you a glass of pure water. You accepted it gratefully as you knew the water came from a crystal decanter nesting above nearby table. You let the pure water quench your thirst.

Then you managed to register your surroundings. Leather sofa and fluffy pillows, elegant chandelier hanging on the ceiling, arrays of select wines inside a wine shelf, magenta curtain by large windows, and various planters with all kinds of flowers. The Royal Bethlehem. You've been here before attending a party held by one of your patrons, reciting poems for attending noblemen and ladies.

The man in impeccable grey azure suit addressed you, mentioning your name. To that question you nodded and he returned your answer with a grim expression. He scratched his messy dark hair as he continued, 'I don't know how to break this to you. But, you've been charged for treason. For aiding the revolutionaries'

It took several seconds before you could fully register what the main said. Revolutionaries. A group of men and women hell bent in endeavor of taking down current government. Though you only know them from ceaseless manifesto pamphlet appearing under bookstore front door and occasional London Gazette article on bombing incidents in every corner of the Fifth City. You said involuntarily, 'Wait…I don't. I mean, whoever told you that is mental. I have no--'

'I know. We know. That's why we're here instead of in constable office. Though evidence speaks the contrary' the scarred man cut your words short. 

He handed you a filer filled with a thick stack of papers. Inside were silver graphs of some Veilgarden guests you could recognize. Some were occasional conversation partner, some were your patrons. The other papers contain charges and details on your daily activity. Some underlined words exhibit your conversation with suspected revolutionaries personae. The truth dawned on you then. Questionable tastes in content. Questionable suggestion and encouragement.  Nevertheless, you harbored a small hope that this unlikely situation was merely a jest or nightmare after drinking bad ale.  

'So, long or short version?'

'Long please, anything you know. I don't believe this is happening right now'

'As you surmised' said the man in red, taking turn in speaking. His baritone voice calmed you. 'Some patrons of yours are revolutionaries contacts. In fact, they have requested questionable contents, haven't they? Some were borderline…revolutionary, so to say. Though none of them directly questions current government, a rival of yours decided to use this against you. I take you know Mr. Darcy Pearce?'

You recognized the name, they were in footnotes or small column poem section in London Gazette whenever your work were published. Other than that, the two of you barely interacted outside civil greetings whenever you meet him in Gazette office. In fact, you could not remember any time you could have possibly done the man wrong. Then it dawned on you, '…oh'

'Good to know our poet here is quick on the uptake' commented the scarred man. 'Mr. Pearce here had taken a liberty of compiling your activity and contacts, then reported to the authority on your allegedly revolutionary activity. Which is, obviously, a false charge. We caught wind of the plot and the rest is history. Be glad we were there before the constables arrived. Aid would be impossible once you're shipped off to Tomb-Colony.'

'Fair enough,' you said in irritated voice, the source of your unjust woe surfaced. 'In short, a fellow poet condemned me to exile in tomb colony due to jealousy. Nevertheless, I doubt you aided me out of the kindness of your heart. So what's your aim?'

The man in red was visibly unnerved after you delivered your question in your most suspicious tone. Nights spent in reciting poems to pompous noble aided you in stressing syllables to deliver required mood. He scratched the back of his neck gingerly before answering, 'I must say I quite enjoy your works whenever they are published. It would be a huge loss should you be exiled or executed with impunity. We can't have that' To emphasize it, he clenched his left fist. His eyes were filled with determination.

You couldn't detect any lies from his word. Your jaw slackened at the lack of ulterior motives. You're used to commissioners and patrons seeking something else from the relationship between parties.

'Hahahaha!' the scarred man laughed. Searing ice in his voice dissipated. Clearly he was amused with the development. He patted the bigger man's shoulder roughly, his slender body slightly bent due to muffled laughter. 'Oh, Klaus. You're really something. Why, nuestro querido el poeta, aside from our leader's preference in literature, which is great I assure you, we do have ulterior motive. Hear tell some of your fans in the Shuttered Palace are going to invite you into joining the ranks of respectable artists employed there. Let's just say, you entering Shuttered Palace would be beneficial to us'

'Excuse me? The Shuttered Palace?' Every single artist in Veilgarden would kill for an opportunity to perform in the Shuttered Palace, in the Duchess' salon. It would mean recognition from upper echelon of society and ensure better life in general, if not a ticket to a life of balls, salons, debauchery, and relentless gossip.

'Yes, the Duchess herself is intrigued by your work. We had it on authority she's arranging an invitation for you. Obviously delayed due to this revolutionary fiasco, but we could fix this situation. We need someone inside the Shuttered Palace. We scratch your back, you scratch ours. It is a sound agreement, no?'  the scarred man continued in glee. On the other hand, the man named Klaus fidgeted nervously.

After a moment of silence, you exhaled and replied, 'At least you're honest about your intention. What can I do though? I'm just a mere poet'

At your reply, both men grinned. The one who talked to you was the scarred one, 'We'll address that matter when you received your invitation, personally signed by the Duchess herself. For now, we need to deal with your jealous friend'

'Right, speaking of which, you mentioned 'we' many a times. Who are 'we'?' you questioned the strangers before you. If it would clear your name from revolutionary list in constable black book, you would sign even an Infernal Contract with the Devils themselves. Though at the end of the contract, one ought to relieve the possession of their souls. Despite so, you crossed the possibility of the men before you being devils. You know the Devils would be more painfully irresistible, with their charm constantly gnawing ever towards your soul akin to a hungry predator.

'My apologies, that was rude of us' the man named Klaus answered immediately. 'My name is Klaus von Reinherz'

'Well, we had to confirm our situation quickly. Couldn't be helped. I'm Steven .A. Starphase. Feel free to address me as Steven. Mi amigo here is our leader'

'Leader?'

'Yes, we're from Libra' said Klaus, beaming in glee as he handed you a tiny card - tiny in perspective compared to its holder's humongous hand -. On the white card was a couple of letter with golden scale in the upper top part of it.

It took you a second to recognize the name. The moment you did, you sank into leather sofa as if in endeavor to escape this unlikely situation. Yet you know this is neither a plot from cheesy novel nor a dream after a night of bad ale. For you know the organization which had been in everybody's lips. A secret to everybody in Fallen London. 'The Libra?'

May - 2017 (2 months later) - Houston ,TX

"Always and Forever ; )"

Candice shouldn't have checked her twitter feed and now she knew why looking at Joseph's dimpled face smiling at her from the computer screen. Although most fans would associate those words with the title of the first episode and the Originals' family motto, she knew they meant far more than that. In fact he'd uttered those words in her ear two and a half years earlier after rousing her from a lazy slumber in that gorgeous villa in Mijas. Pity it hadn't worked out that way for them in the end.

Candice had been awaiting the news of the Original's possible renewal for over a month now and all it took was one call from its show runner Julie Plec to confirm it would go ahead and she was set to guest star on at least six episodes. They suspected it was coming which was why she'd been talking up the Klaroline ship on the press circuit, including the Vampire Attraction event in Rio last month. It wasn't as if Candice was ungrateful, knowing she had steady work was an actor's dream but having to be so close again with her ex-lover wasn't going to be easy, especially knowing just how intimate those scenes would probably be

To help quell the nerves, Candice had headed home to visit her family for a few weeks and although it usually calmed her this time was very different. Even her parents had questioned her unusual behaviour but she'd shrugged it off. When the news came through, Candice had immediately consulted social media even though she knew it was an incredibly bad idea. Coming across his tweet had shaken her resolve more than she'd expected, especially given the way they'd ended things so abruptly. It was almost as if he was sending a message just to her and Candice wasn't quite sure what that meant. She had a feeling that once they came together in Atlanta again for filming she might just discover his intentions.

May - 2017 (2 months later) - Chicago, IL

"This time I'm not leaving without you."

Joseph knew exactly what he was doing and it wasn't just giving a shout out to his loyal fans, he was trying to reach her. Truth be told life hadn't been the same without Candice. He'd tried to move on but every time Joseph would imagine her creamy skin and expressive blue eyes and he was back in his usual daze. He loved her, Joseph wouldn't just promise someone always and forever if he didn't mean it. He hoped that message he'd sent would make her believe that too.

He was currently spending some time in the Windy City with his co-star and onscreen little brother Nate Buzolic, aka Kol. They'd bonded from the very beginning and even though he wasn't a regular on the Originals, they always made an effort to get together wherever they were. Given the announcement of the renewal only hit the public a day earlier, Joseph wasn't sure about the reaction, especially from the blonde he missed more than anything. According to Julie, filming wasn't due to begin until late July in Atlanta.

"You look like you're at a funeral, not one of the hottest clubs in Chicago," Nate observed, handing Joseph a much needed whiskey. They were currently drinking at an out of the way and darkened speakeasy. "Given the renewal announcement, I thought you'd be decidedly more upbeat."

"I am."

"And you call yourself an actor?"

"Shut it," he warned. "I'm just a little tired from all the press and social media excitement today, I kind of figured I could be my usual, grumpy self in your presence tonight."

"At least you admit that you're grumpy," he teased, taking a sip of his drink. "This doesn't have anything to do with a blue eyed blonde about yea high?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Again, you call yourself an actor?" Joseph's dirty look didn't require any immediate response. "We all know this means you're going to be spending a lot more time together with your ex-girlfriend."

"We are both professionals."

"Professionals who love each other but can't get their bloody act together. Seriously mate, it's been like two years and you are still not over her."

"It doesn't even matter anymore."

"Except that the last few years you've tried and failed to get over Candice and I'm not sure having to act so intimately together is going to help that effort."

"I'm fairly certain she's moved past what we had," he murmured thinking about her rumoured relationship with some American guitarist from that band he'd since removed from his song library. "And so have I," he lied, knowing that text was far from moving on. He just didn't want anyone else to know. He'd decided he needed that few months to decide exactly how he was going to get her back for good.

February - 2013 - Mercedes Benz Superdome, New Orleans, LA - Superbowl XLV11

"I'm such a slut," she moaned, downing the last of her beer and placing the glass back on the table with a bang.

"I think you're being a little hard on yourself, Candice," Arielle offered. She'd flown into New Orleans that day to meet the rest of the cast before returning to Atlanta to film her scenes for the last three episodes of the fourth season. If there was something you could say about her character Lexi it was that she was heavily in demand. Given they were filming episodes with the veil open to the other side of course she would make an appearance.

"You were the one who called me that on the phone the other day," she shot back accusingly. "Shortly after congratulating me on bedding the on-set, English hottie as you so eloquently put it."

"I meant it in an endearing and congratulatory way," she replied, albeit feebly. "Anyway, it's obvious he feels the same way."

"Yeah he wants to have sex with me and that's about it," she muttered. "I have no idea what came over me that day, I just..."

"Couldn't keep your hands to yourself?" Kat offered, her brown eyes flickering to the guy in question who was standing with Steven, Zach and Michael watching the unfolding game with avid interest. Well they were, Candice was pretty certain Joseph wasn't quite sure exactly what was going on rules wise. His football was a little different to theirs after all.

"I wasn't the only one there," she growled. After they'd ripped each other's clothes off in her trailer and given into every animalistic desire that'd been building they'd decided to keep their indiscretion secret and gone their separate ways, never to speak about it again. If Candice was being honest it hurt. She wasn't sure what she was expecting after such a build up between them but that certainly wasn't it.

The sex was phenomenal, something she'd never really doubted given their thick, sexual tension onscreen but she'd be lying if she didn't want more. Although they'd promised never to tell anyone, Candice felt herself hurtling towards insanity if she didn't tell someone her secret. Kat had suggested she share her feelings with him but that wasn't her style, especially when he'd been so quick to leave her trailer that day. Arielle had suggested a repeat performance saying it would bring the awkwardness to the fore but she'd ignored both. Caroline Forbes might have been bold and fearless but Candice Accola certainly wasn't that brave unfortunately.

With only three days between filming commitments, the cast of the Vampire Diaries had been given a break (albeit a publicity one) before returning to set in Atlanta and what better way to spend their time than at the Superbowl in New Orleans? The guys had been ecstatic unsurprisingly but Candice was a iittle worried to be so close with Joseph. It was bad enough they'd had to act so friendly the past few episodes (she still couldn't get the image of a shirtless Klaus out of her head from episode 18). She was just glad that the most recent episode had them working on two different sets. Joseph on the possible Originals spin off in New Orleans and she on TVD.

There was industry chatter that the Originals would be picked up by the CW and Candice wasn't quite sure whether she was happy he'd be filming further away in Atlanta than usual but given the awkwardness it was probably best between them.

"Ladies," Michael interrupted their conversation as he had a tendency to do accompanied by their other co-stars. "Would you care to make a wager on the game?" Candice rolled her eyes not surprised he was being so competitive. "Steven and I are backing the 49ers. Zach and Joseph for some crazy reason have their money on the Ravens."

"Do you know exactly what you're betting on?" Candice asked, her gaze settling on Joseph. She was trying to ignore just how gorgeous he looked in those dark jeans and black suit jacket.

"Not really but I've always been partial to birds, including ravens."

"You're basing your bet on the team mascot?"

"Why not?" He prodded, now standing to her left and causing Candice to lose her composure a little from his damn aftershave that was infiltrating her nostrils unwelcomingly.

"Well, I'm with Steven and Michael backing San Fransisco," Kat replied. Although she was born in Switzerland she'd been raised in California so her choice wasn't surprising.

"This Florida girl is supporting the Ravens. Candice?" Arielle asked. She was born and raised in Texas, so the obvious choice was Baltimore but for some reason she had no intention of agreeing with Joseph, especially given their situation. Yes, her immaturity had hit an all time low.

"My money is one the 49'ers," Candice replied nonchalantly. "I've never been much of a bird fan."

"Let me guess, there was an incident with one when you were a child?" Joseph asked, Candice trying to ignore those familiar dimples and a slight smirk tugging at the corners of those kissable, crimson lips. Bastard.

"That's none of your business," Candice bristled. Of course there'd been an incident when she was younger. It involved a pelican that took a liking to her birthday cake at the zoo.

"Well," Arielle interrupted. "This should be interesting." Candice had a feeling she wasn't just talking about the game anymore.

The Baltimore Ravens won, holding on by four points in the end. Always competitive, Candice was kicking herself that she didn't go for her chosen side because of him. She'd chosen to ignore his triumphant and cocky grin and made her exit to the hotel as quickly as possible. The last thing she wanted was to deal with his English ego, especially after the last few weeks she'd had to endure.

April - 2013 - Atlanta GA

Joseph was frustrated and not just in the sexual way either. Ever since they'd been together, Candice had basically ignored him. The only time she did speak was during their scenes together or to throw out some sarcastic insult like at the Superbowl. He thought what they shared was amazing and even better than he'd expected after longing for the girl for two years now.

It had all seemed so glorious until things became awkward and they'd reverted back to their original discourse. Joseph didn't want that, he wanted her. But it seemed as is Candice wanted to forget what happened between them so he let it go, albeit reluctantly. The fact she wanted to keep what happened between them secret spoke volumes and he had no option but to pretend like it never happened.

Coming onto set that day had been particularly difficult, knowing that this would be their last scene together for the foreseeable future given the Originals had been officially picked up by the CW and announced only the day before. He should have been ecstatic and he was for the most part, Joseph had always dreamed of having his own show and things were finally falling into place. Well, all except for one significant part. Knowing exactly what their final scene entailed, Joseph was certain it would do nothing to quell the burgeoning feelings he felt.

"And action..."

"How'd you get here so fast?"

"I was already on my way. I received your graduation announcement, very subtle. I'm assuming you're expecting cash?"

"That, or a mini fridge."

"Well, I had considered offering you a first class ticket to join me in New Orleans, but I knew what your answer would be. So I opted for something you would accept." Joseph paused briefly before adding. "Tyler is now free to return to Mystic Falls."

"What?"

"He's your first love, I intend to be your last," he murmured, holding her gaze. "However long it takes." He leaned forward his lips grazing her cheek before pulling back slowly. "Congratulations Caroline. Now, let's get out of here before twelve angry hybrids decide to pick a fight."

As they walked away from the camera, his arm laced through hers, Joseph couldn't help but feel sad that it was all coming to an end and he didn't just mean his stint on the Vampire Diaries.

It was now 4am and the show had finally wrapped. Even though it was late (or early as some may say), the cast and crew had gathered together on set to toast to another successful season. Joseph had hovered around the drinks table for a while making small talk about his new show, watching Candice chat away to Nina. He'd been so quick to write things off between them but knowing he wouldn't see her again for some time was weighing heavily on him.

He seized his opportunity when he saw her making her way towards her trailer alone. Joseph couldn't leave without telling her how he felt. He knocked gingerly on the door noticing her surprise as she let him inside.

"There's something I need to know and then I'll leave you alone for good," he stuttered, not expecting her pink lips to find his so quickly and pull him towards her. They attacked each other's lips greedily, their clothes coming off in record time with all reason flying out the door, much like the first time they were together. Before Joseph could lay her on the couch she stopped, pulling back abruptly, her creamy skin tinged pink and breathing ragged.

"We can't do this."

"You started it," he growled, unable to help himself.

"I know," she admitted sheepishly. "I just..."

"I thought you hated me."

"When you left so quickly that day, I assumed you didn't want this, that you didn't want me," she mumbled.

"You wanted to keep it a secret, I assumed you were ashamed and then when you all but ignored me..."

"I didn't mean to, it was just so awkward," she conceded. "Especially having to act together knowing what had happened between us." Joseph found her jacket and hung it over her shoulders trying to protect what modesty she had left given their lust filled reunion.

"So, do you think maybe we could try this again?"

"What are you suggesting?" She asked, pulling the jacket around her body securely.

"A date." They might have started things off on the wrong foot but Joseph had every intention of rectifying the situation with her.

May - 2013 - CW Upfronts - New York, NY

Candice couldn't believe how quickly things had accelerated between them over the past month. True to his word, Joseph had taken her on that date in Los Angeles, of all places, during their production break. In the past, guys had tried to impress her by going to upscale restaurants and exclusive clubs but he'd taken her to a small, Mexican cantina followed by salsa dancing at a roof top bar in central LA. He blamed his lack of salsa experience on growing up in a stuffy, English household but the fact he'd done it for her meant so much and she was more than happy to show him a few moves in very close proximity. Candice couldn't remember when she'd had that much fun with someone.

They'd kept things strictly professional given how quickly they'd jumped into things all those months ago. The CW Upfronts were being held in New York later that week and Joseph was going to be front and centre advertising the Originals first season. Candice wasn't required that year and had told Joseph as much before secretly travelling there to surprise him in his hotel room.

They hadn't gone public with their romance yet and it was exactly the way Candice preferred things. Yes, she was famous but there were some things she liked to keep quiet for obvious reasons. She'd contacted Claire who played Joseph's sister Rebekah on screen about her plan and organised a key to sneak into his room. She was decidedly nervous, not quite sure why given they'd already slept together. For some reason this time meant so much more.

She heard him enter the room, a deep and relieved sigh sounding out from the man in question as he closed the door. She'd chosen her best La Perla, red lingerie in anticipation. "You sound like you need a good massage."

He was speechless momentarily, his blue eyes hungrily devouring her curves in red, lacy lingerie. "I certainly wouldn't say no," he growled, picking her up and throwing her onto the king sized bed excited for what was to come. Her overwhelming beauty wasn't a surprise but the fact she'd sneaked into his room was and he couldn't get enough of her in that moment.

November - 2013 - TVD 100th Episode Party - Atlanta, GA

The cameras were flashing madly as he walked the red carpet. Joseph would have preferred to have a certain, beautiful blonde on his arm but their relationship was a well kept secret. Joseph actually appreciated Candice's wish to keep things secret. She insisted it wasn't because she was ashamed, she just wanted to keep her private life private. He couldn't argue with that fact.

"So, do you think this 100th episode will deliver for the fans?" Joseph knew it would but he couldn't say that of course. He'd enjoyed their time against that tree just as much as he knew Klaus had.

"I think so," he offered slyly. "I couldn't expect anything less than from this amazing TVD team." His eyes averted to her blue ones momentarily, Joseph a little scared he might get lost in them. No one knew about their relationship and it was the way they liked it, especially a very shy Candice.

"You realise all the fans want is a reunion between their favourite star crossed couple?" All Joseph wanted was a reunion between the actors who played them right away but he knew he needed to play this down, otherwise Julie would certainly kill him.

"I suppose we'll have to wait and see, they are on different shows after all." Candice heard him, those blue eyes sending a message that they would definitely be hooking up tonight unbeknownst to reporters.

He'd been desperately waiting for Candice to come to his room. Joseph had found it was difficult to be apart from her than more than a few days. She was like a highly addictive drug and he was struggling in her absence. He pushed upon the door to his room, standing on the balcony with a glass of scotch awaiting her arrival. It was then he noticed her approaching from below, unfortunately he wasn't the only one as the waiting paparazzi enveloped her. Joseph screamed out protectively not caring what secrets would be revealed, all he cared about was her well being.
