As of yet unnamed game card art!
#pixelart#pixel art#card game design#card games#scottish mythology#Happy new year gang#I've been on my course for a good while now. I have a new very close friend from it and have made a few others as well#Our little group is in a discord and we're all a good bit nerdy haha#I'm far from the oldest one in the class/group which is always good to see#We got two weeks off for winter break which is great. We come back tomorrow. I'm not ready lmao.#But with the time I got I treated it like a game jam. Me and friend were like “we got two weeks let's make what we can”#And I wasted the first few days. Not by not working but by using AI to try and help with code. Turns out it's terrible at it.#I've been openly anti-AI but our course encourages us to use it for coding so I thought it would be good at games.#Nope. It's dogshit. It worked for a while but I ended up working so much more efficiently just making the code myself#So this new game. It's a card game. you might be thinking “This has nothing to do with the 16 characters you were making what happened??”#It's all connected. ALL of it. Greenhollow. HoaM. Elphame. This new project. The 16 characters. They're all connected.#It's gonna sound like the story will be oversaturated and it is. But I'm not worried about that rn. Just making sure the game is fun.#And I can confirm: The game is fun. It's playable. Graeme and I have been playing it a ton and I feel so happy. I love designing the cards#I don't want to explicitly state what's up but here's a clue: These 20 cards are all playable by the ISTP character#That will either make you understand completely or not help you at all.#Anyway. I'm tying in previous projects so they all get to tell their story. My sister made designs for characters ages ago#and I'm finally getting to show them. One is on one of these cards. But I intend to show all of them and tell all their stories#Of course since there are so many characters a lot of the little side stories will be optional.#I'm getting ahead of myself. But I'm loving doing art and programming for this rn. Tomorrow I return to DA lifestyle...#But at the end of the month I'll be a lot less busy and might get to work on this again. No idea of a release ETA#but in 2 weeks I've done 20 cards. I'm hoping for between 128-256 (I love symmetry). That said it's faster once I'm in the habit of it.#I have a little bit of programming left before this version is final (4 cards left) but yeah. It's looking damn good.#I'm not as manic as the last post but I am very proud of myself#Also 2024 was my favourite year for movies lmao. Inside out 2 wicked and sonic 3 were all amazing All 3 make me sob like a baby#2024 was crazy. I lived so much hahaha. I met a lot of people and travelled so much and got so fit (then lost it all in winter)

It's been a bit, here's what's up
So things have been kind of hectic irl so I haven't had a lot of time for posting and art have been low. With that said I'm currently working on the concept art for the 9th monster in Monster Hunter Pocket, meaning I can return to pixel art soon.
But, since it has been awhile and speaking of concept art, I thought I could share some of the work that goes into making the Monster Hunter Pocket sprites (eventhough I was meant to share these sketch pages initially and forgot but don't worry about that...). Starting off, here's the three current monsters: Rathalos, Lagiacrus and Pukei-Pukei!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up we have the remaining returning monsters: Rajang, Barioth and Nergigante! (Nergigante took up so much space they needed two pages)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally we have two of the four new monsters being added to the roster: Arkveld and Mizutsune!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Drawing these monster has been a ton of fun, and I could go on and on about the different design aspects of each monster (like have you noticed the little "cleets" on Barioth's paws?) but I would be here forever.
I'm going to end this one here cause I've got another post to make with an announcement, so I'll see you in again in a second!

Just a small project i´ve been working on
Inglés/English
When I found out that the G5 series of My Little Pony had been cancelled, I had a nostalgic attack and decided to watch the Friendship is Magic series again, taking advantage of the fact that it is complete on YouTube, to refresh my memory and then watch the "complete" G5, something I haven't done yet because I don't have the money to pay for Netflix and I don´t want to risk with a pirate site to watch the movie :P. The thing is that while I was watching the series at some point I got the idea that the adventures of Twilight and friends would fit very well in an RPG style game, so I started digging around the fandom to see what kind of fangames I could find (don't even get me started on official mobile games, I'm against the business model of those kinds of games), but the thing is that, apart from some horror games like those of Princess Luna or the one of Applebloom in the town without cutie marks, some MMOs, the games based on the Fallout Equestria fanfic and that filthy game with Trixie, I didn't find anything that resembled the idea I had in mind (Don't get me wrong, a lot of those games look really fun, especially "that one") so I said to myself "Hey, what if I made that game?".
With this idea in mind I started to fantasize about what this videogame would be like and I had the idea of making it in clickteam fusion, the same engine that the classic FNaF games are made in, a saga of which I am a fan, so I started to learn about the particularities of this software and to design prototypes for some mechanics that I want to include, such as a mission system and an inventory. What you see in the video is a practically finished version of a character customization system, which has several options so you can create the pony that best suits your personal tastes.
After much thought I decided to call this project "MLP: Harmony is Magic". As I already implied this is a fangame so it does not have the official license nor the support of Hasbro (hopefully not their wrath either). It will be inspired by G4, which includes the main series, the comics both canonical and non-canonical, some information taken from the books, and content related to Equestria Girls. In "Harmony is magic" you will take on the role of a pony who, along with his five friends, must face threats that will put the fate of Equestria in peril and overcome trials in which their friendship will be challenged. Explore this magical kingdom to meet and help its inhabitants and fight in turn-based combats against monsters such as Manticores, Little and Big Dippers, Vampire Ponies, Changelings and others that endanger the peace of the little equines, with the help of an enigmatic being that will not last long when it comes to lending its strength to restore harmony: the Tree.
I still have many things to work on, for example in the aesthetic section of the game, which I can tell it will be in a minimalist pixel-art style to resemble the aesthetic of the series. I also have to polish some mechanics and finish designing others, such as the special powers of each pony race or a cutie mark´s skills system inspired by Pokémon. When I have something more to show, I will return with another post; In the meantime, be happy, learn about friendship, drink water and whatever.
Meow.
=================================================Español/Spanish:

ITS BUBBA!! I DIDNT WANT TO SEND A MESSAGS BUT!!! Heh…do u have more OC refs?? Id love to draw them again (if that’s okay) if not do you have a character/s i could draw for ya?!? Or really js anything!
p.s. here are some vale drawings that’re too unfinished. Thank you for ur support and interest in her!! I hope im able to return the favour one day! <333
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BUBBA BUBBA HI HI HI HI HI HI HIIIII!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the late response but u have no idea what a bitch it was to find and pull all of this crap together!!
I don't actually too often draw my Ocs, I actually write about them more and sneak them into fanfics that'll never see the light of day. But I have a few diagrams I made so I could picture them in my head when writing them! They're normally not rlly completed (that's why the drawings of Chinatsu and Kikuko were so lackluster,,, and there was no way I was gonna show Yuko that girl looked like she was mauled by a raccoon) and all my Ocs revolve in some way around Sasuke bc the brainrot is strong with this one.
My main Ocs are all meant to be mentors to Sasuke. I made them all canon compliant, so they all die in the og story but in the plot of the main fic I'm plotting like only the elders and police force were murdered (everyone say thank you Sakura!) So Sasuke still has the opportunity to learn about his clan and their techniques. This is also a thinly veiled excuse to create lore for the Uchiha (for Sasuke)
Once again excuse the lackluster art I swear im better than this!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Kotone!! (IK IT SAYS NATSU IN THE LEFT ONE BUT ILL GET BACK TO THAT IN A MOMENTTT) She's my victim I use to practice pixel art! She's seen the absolute worst sides of me (My Danagonranpa and Mha phase...) omg her design has changed SO MUCH over the years its not even funny. Her name used to be Asuna, then it was Suna, then it was Yuri and then we arive to now. It may as well just be four different characters cause the designs aren't remotely related but eh.
Shes the receptionist at the Uchiha police force and she got her skull absolutely crashed in!!! Horrible concussion- actually ruined her. She cannot handle more than two people talking or she'll disassociate, which was actually an issue she had before but the trauma of watching her friends die and then getting trapped under rubble for 6 days straight with no food,,, uh it fucked with her a little ill be real w/ u.
Despite being a bit ditsy now shes actually very intelligent. She teaches Sasuke how to Integrate Genjutsu training into everyday life (the little Genjutsu creatures she made are what kept her entertained and remotely sane under the rubble) she always casts these little spirals around her, it annoys most people in the clan but Sasuke thinks its fun (and Kotone loves him for it) they also help her manipulate people since they're very very vaguely hypnotic.
She also plays the Flute. But she's not the one who teaches Sasuke about that!!!!
ABOUT THE NATSU THING!!!
THATS ACTUALLY TECHNICALLY HER PREVIOUS INCARNATION, AND MADARAS OLDER SISTER (OK ik that in canon Madara and Izuna only have brothers but leaves me alone i don't care!!! I swear this is like the only thing I changed from canon.)
SO THE REASON THE OUTFITS LOOK DIFFERENT IN THE TWO ARTS IS BC. THEYRE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Anyways Natsu died saving Izuna from getting kidnapped. Thats how he got his sharingan 👍 (I SWEAR ILL TALK ABOUT THE REINCARNATION IN A MOMENTTT)
Here are her old designs and oh my god this was so annoying to find and it turned out to just be embarrassing so jsbsns here it is 😔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ginger one was her first version, Asuna. And the one with buns is Suna, she came with me thru my danagonranpa phase. Which tbh wasn't actually a phase i just moved her over to danagonranpa to be friends with my friends oc. Shes was the ultimate florist. Her eyes are actually green but she thought green was an ugly colour and injected her eyes with ink. And somehow. She's not blind?
Also!!! Kotones eyes are still green. Her father is only half Uchiha and she got her green eyes from her grandmother. But she's embarrassed about it so she hides it behind her hair.
Tumblr media
Heres her with her accessories, and hair I guess, off.
AND THEN THERES RIHITO!!! She's a much more recent Oc!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Blegh you can tell how much I rushed both of theseee)
Shes the head priest, her main place of worship is Susano's shrine, but she also actively prays at Tsukoyomi's and The nine-tails shrine (just to make sure when he inevitably breaks out of the 5-year-old he'll have just a little mercy on them!)
Alsoo it says she communes with the dead in her chart there, not dead humans, dead Uchiha (thanks to her) are reincarnated into different body's, so she wouldnt really be able to meet them. And if she did then she'd perform a ritual on the spirit to allow it to pass on to a new body. She just likes to hang with the dead rats and birds sometimes.
She teaches Sasuke about the clans culture and God's, she also gets him interested in blacksmithing and poisons. Exclusively because her knife is very pretty and also very dangerous.
THAT REMINDS ME!!! Not pictured but the shirt-dress she's wearing has built in gloves. Not a germaphobe but in her line of work touching anything with her skin is usually very very disrespectful or very very unsafe.
Shes also got dogteeth and plays the harp expertly. These facts don't affect the story whatsoever.
Theres a third character, Isuzu, she teaches Sasuke how to play the Ocarina. But uhh... she hasnt got a design yet. She has black hair. Uh. She mainly plays the flute. She doesn't have legs. Or well, she has one thigh. Sne lost one and a half legs in the massacre. It was her fault, really. She was trying to protect her sickly and dying father from being murdered. Pftt what a loser! I know she has that typical high collar Uchiha shirt. But uh I don't know about the rest of her outfit. But I think it would be cool if she had earrings that were vials with poison in them.
Yeah, I dont know much about her yet. I haven't gotten to writing that part of the story yet... if anyone wants to help with her design I welcome you.
AND NOW WE MOVE ONTO KIKUKO!!!! Our perfect little lady. She's a nurse and is decently main to the plot,,,
Tumblr media
This was just a very speedy drawing I did cos I wanted to redesign her outfit.
Anyway she teaches Sasuke that actually healing people is very cool and actually epic. Which Sakura backs up, but based on past experiences Sakura is not. Trustworthy. So he needs family to confirm what she says.
There's not actually too much to Kikuko bc her whole character isn't centered around her clans culture, and she actually fights against Fugaku in favour of Konoha (She only does that bc she's co-dependant w her gf and doesnt want to leave her but shhhh)
Uh she's actually pretty far removed from her clans culture (Thanks a lot for that Chinatsu,,,) but she's still very religious. Her main God she prays to is Amaterasu.
(NOT RELATED BUT MIKOTO PRAYS TO SUSANO AND FUGAKU TO TSUKOYOMI)
Im sure there are more details I'm missing but I'm not about to read through the whole plot of Take 2 just to find some more Uchiha lore I've already accidentally taken a nap while writing this. But JANSJSJAKAN I hope this is what you were looking for!!!!! I was originally a bit anxious about dropping these guys out to the public but it was actually such a joy to share them ty ajsnsjakka

I’m so impressed with how many styles you have and that you use them regularly (realistic, semi realistic, 2d, and 2d, 3d & pixel animation)! How did you learn to balance this many and get so good in all of them?
THANK YOUUUU this compliment means so much to me because so often i feel so worried I will stagnate since I basically like to draw the same subject matter over and over again 😳 but I do like to periodically try new things that I'll become invested in for chunks of time.
i guess advice more than just 'practice' is to be willing to try out new things that you have an interest in, even if it doesn't work out at first and is frustrating. you gotta be persistent to learn something new BUT if you get bored then just move on! if it sucks hit da bricks.... I really like this bjork quote abt creativity
Tumblr media
idk throughout my life in art i just try to learn about stuff i'm interested in and practice what i wanna practice. like i wanted to get good at pixeling when i was like 14 so i kept practicing and trying new ways to go about it until i started to figure it out. same with digital painting when i was 15 and i just kept trying again and again until it clicked, even though i was frustrated a lot, i never actually lost the interest when i saw people's pretty paintings and that feeling of 'man i wish i could do that!'.... so i literally couldn't stop myself from trying over and over at painting. it goes beyond just drawing too. planet earth is fun because ANYTHING u are interested in you can try........ i make fursuit heads and other crafts to see if i can! this year i started making my own songs and also learned leather-working because i saw a cool craft and wanted to try :3
part of it is letting yourself age too because as you get older you will grow interested in new things. i am 27!! i've been drawing since i could hold a pencil. that's a long time to encounter a lot of stuff to get obsessed about and wanna try out for myself. SUCCESS TIP!: i typically pursue things that are adjacent to other skills i already have invested in, like drawing to 3d sculpture to digital modeling, or start blending them like sculpture + coding skills = 3d animation rigging. The reason is because a lot of these skills are transferable and make it easier to pick up. like a skill tree in a video game... and you'll end up in weird places like sculpture to sewing to leathercraft. It's nice to have creative hobbies you can be sorta be mediocre at without attaching your self worth to it, but other people still often find it impressive anyways because it's stuff they've never tried to do. It's really healing and easier to like what you create And yourself by extension when you're just having fun and learning without having to worry about the end product being "good". Anything you try is not a waste because you are learning new skills and more often than not, something you've learned is transferable to some other area of your life!!!!!!!!! nothing is ever a waste of time.
this is also the secret cure to art block btw well actually there are two secret cures. a) is you have to embrace the art block and go get obsessed with some other creative thing for a bit. either that or b) go absorb other people's creativity to a bit and watch some shows and read books or talk to people. c) is a mix of both. eventually you'll return to art again feeling fresh and motivated if you're willing to give it a few months. I think art block really just means you're bored and need a change of scenery one way or another 🤔 that's just my onion though
TL;DR have fun pursuing things just because you like them. as you keep doing it you'll just get better at it through practice whether you really intend to or not.

Thoughts about Undertale Yellow
Greetings, I just returned from binging through Undertale Yellow, True Pacifist Route specifically, and am seeking a place to let out some thoughts (and steam). It's the first time I'm doing this type of "review" on my blog, but since my thoughts on it are quite strong, I thought, "hey, why the heck not"? Spoilers for the game and its ending ahead, fellas. Buckle up.
First off, let me begin by stating that, for the most part, I had a blast playing through it. The music is amazing, the boss themes real bangers, the environmental ones great as well. My favorite track was the OST that played in the Dunes: a really catchy western vibe with Flowey's theme in it as well, an earworm that filled me with Determination while running through the sandy fields. Then we have a beautiful pixel art style, gorgeous sceneries, great gameplay with challenging and fun boss fights (side note: although I couldn't fully appreciate Ceroba's fight since it had a couple pretty much unavoidable attacks. Or is it just skill issue on my part? Anyway, that part annoyed me more than it should have. Moving on, lmao.)
Furthermore, the game also has charming characters! They are the ones that kept me going and really ignited my interest. Not gonna lie, it took me until the town in the Dunes to become really invested in the game. Martlet is charming and cute, sure, but North Star and his gang, no, that guy specifically sold it for me. Charismatic, funny, very expressive sprites (well, all facial sprites are quite colorful, but it took me until North Star to appreciate/notice just how many there are for each character) and an interesting internal conflict with wanting to entertain others so they forget about the pain of being stuck underground, but at the same time being so absorbed in his persona that he temporarily acts like a douche towards his pals and forgets who he truly is. He also features my favorite joke in the game when he proudly proposes to the salesman that "he wants to buy a gun for the child". Freaking hilarious, love him, huehehue.
Story-wise, I was pleasantly surprised and taken aback by the dark twists of Ceroba and her husband Chujin. And I appreciated how the flashbacks got intigrated within her final boss fight. I don't know about you, but my biggest motivation to play RPGs are not just the gameplay, it's mainly the characters and the story. If the gameplay is amazing but the characters/plot boring, then I lose interest quickly. To me, the real rewards of a tough battle are story progression and seeing just what the characters will do next. Therefore, I greatly enjoyed the breaks between Ceroba's phases in which we saw parts of her backstory. They even made me cry!
...Although, to be honest, I don't exactly understand why we had that insight into her mind in the first place. Why did we survive so many hits to the point of 0.00001 HP? Where's that coming from all of a sudden? Why did time stop at some point like Za Warudo? Maybe that random plot armor (that happened the first time and never again) is explained in another route, but anyway, moving on-
This review-style blog entry only exists because of the True Pacifist ending. I'll be blunt, I hate it. Why?
So it ends with Clover sacrificing their soul for the monsters so they can eventually break free. Which is fine on its own. Clover is for the most part a blank slate of a character, only driven by their desire to seek the lost humans, that's basically it. Maybe it would have made a bit more sense for Clover to see an actual physical proof of their demise before they give up on them completely, but eh. I'm also wondering whether they are really okay with potentially another, possibly innocent human falling down sometime in the future only to get killed by the monsters. But oh well.
(You know, now that I think about it, I actually am a bit salty about Clover's decision to sacrifice themselves, lmao. Would've been kinda cool if it was up to the player, have another ending split.)
Anyways, the issue I'm having is how our cast of supporting characters, Martlet, North Star aka Starlo and Ceroba react to Clover's decision. They are shocked first, but... agree surprisingly quickly?? What?? Excuse me, the entire hassle we went through to get to this point was to stop Ceroba from taking Clover's soul. Now with Clover volunteering to sacrifice themselves, the gang is cool with it??
Of course they don't agree immediately, but are easily swayed within a few arguments back and forth. Man, what friends you are, guys. The reason I'm having this pet peeve in the first place is because we as the human, who has known these guys for just a day, did a lot for them, alright? They all tried to kill us at one point, but we took the beating, the hard battles, forgave them and were there for them during their internal conflicts. We were a pretty decent friend, if I may say so.
Especially with Ceroba! We did a lot to change her mind and path of self-destruction! Yet our so-called friends don't put in the same amount of effort when it comes to convincing us otherwise- or heck, use force if you must- get Clover away from there, lmao. Wouldn't it have been an interesting act of redemption on Ceroba's part, by the way, if she tried to stop us? Being touched by our mercy and refusal to give up on her, she does the same for us?
I suppose the reason I am so baffled by all this is because of Clover being a blank slate, the player character really felt like me, like I was going through the journey and not like I was controlling another character. It felt like my decision to spare them all, to talk to them and wanting to get to know them better. So the group of characters I have really grown to like giving up on me within about a minute of back-and-forth just felt... wow. Thanks, guys.
If I compare it to Undertale's True Pacifist in which every important supporting character gathers up after the confrontation with Asgore, all agreeing with the decision of me, the player, staying in the Underground with them, then oh boy, it really stings. Just would've been a cool, wholesome sign of friendship if Martlet, Starlo and Ceroba decided that "nah, even for the surface, we won't give up on Clover". By the way, in this game, we don't even really get to see why the monsters want to return to the surface so badly. They keep saying they want to, but what are the reasons exactly? More freedom, I suppose. Yet by expanding the Underground with the Dunes, the Mines, the Factory, and some of Snowdin, the Ruins and New Home, their habitat seemed so much larger than in the OG game- What I wanna say is, their desperation should've been shown way more instead of told, so the player can understand the monsters' aspiration better.
The thing is, it's a shockingly easy issue to fix if you really want "the canon ending" with Clover ending up dead and their soul taken: have Clover still have their moment of doubt and realization, remembering what the monsters told them throughout their journey. Then they go to Asgore with their gang, hoping to convince him. It doesn't work out, so Asgore starts a fight. During the battle, Clover realizes it's useless to fight back, it's better to have their soul taken for the monsters, so they allow Asgore to kill them. Their friends are not powerful enough to stop him. There ya have it.
Siiiiigh. Is it just me, being annoyed by that ending? As a whole, the finale felt a little... rushed? Was New Home always meant to be so empty? Is it to build up atmosphere? Yet there were two silly NPCs in the first screen of New Home, making me assume that maybe, there was another plan originally? (If it has been stated in a devlog or any other comment by the creators, then I apologize, I haven't read those fully.)
Anyways, if I didn't care about the game, this rant wouldn't even exist in the first place. I was really invested in the game until the ending just left me... kinda sad, not gonna lie. It will take me a while to process it all.
If you got this far, then thanks for reading. Am I the only one feeling this miffed about the ending? I might go back and edit this post if I find out there are things to be corrected. Buuuut as of now, happy holidays!

I watched the 3 season 3 TBB episodes and it's all again tying to Palpatine clones! And I am. Upset!! That EVERYTHING must now tie in to the Palpy clones because Disney just could not take the L on the "somehow Palpatine returned" meme.
So it's all about project necromancer, just like Mando all ended up being about cloning and Grogu's M count, and Kenobi had to rip JFO's entire ending to show us from Jedi in amber... I hate that it feels like a curse over anything coming out in this time period. Most importantly : it is SO boring.
Why must Disney ruin the punch and twist of its shows, when they could tell original stories? You want to engage us into dark sithly biddings?
GIVE US A GAME!!
If everything has to be about Palpatine doing necro shit keeping dead jedi in vats and using their blood to splice a force sensitive clone, then let me play that!
Give us a game in which
I do force sensitive children hunting!
Blood resource management!
Building evil bases across systems!
Sending minions (like Cad Bane or custom made inquisitors) on child kidnapping quests!
Let me build genetic facilities and unlock genetic and dark force skill trees! Let me do Sith factorio!!
Passing bills and racketeering entire systems to help fund my dark deeds!
Let me build up and repair Vader's amour, customize it, so he can go on more dangerous missions and harvest more force sensitives and rogue Jedi!
Chose the right dialogue to brainwash my inquisitors!
Have rebellion crushing minigames, and risk of losing precious DNA sources and rarefied Kaminoan cloning specialtists!
Let me give birth to deformed blobs that scream in pain and die, until I manage to craft the first Snoke!!
Let me play a Dark Sith Cloning Sim!! Let me be dark and fucked up!!!
Now that would be engaging and fun, and that would leave space for stories to be told during the empire and post empire eras that don't revolve around Palpatine's deals.
Of course it's 2D pixel art BTW.

The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki: A Cult Classic Returns
Tumblr media
The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki Fancy Edition a gloriously bizarre retro FPS cult classic game out now on both Linux, Steam Deck, and Windows PC. Brought back to life by the creative minds at Jordan Freeman Group, Future Visionary, and Maelstrom Software. Which you can find now on Steam. Alright, my fellow Linux and Steam Deck warriors — strap in. The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki has clawed its way out of the ‘90s and back onto our screens, and this time… it actually plays like a real game. No, seriously. If you missed it the first time around (understandable—it launched back in 1994), The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki was one of those wild, weird, unforgettable retro FPS experiments that hit during the genre’s awkward teen years. Think offbeat humor, bizarre villains, and a level of camp that would make Saturday morning cartoons blush. It was quirky. It was cult. And it was absolutely unhinged. Now, in 2025, thanks to Zoom-Platform (nope, not the boring video meeting one), this glorious chaos is back—remastered, refreshed, and also DRM-Free. That’s right: no annoying logins, no weird launchers, while offering full support for Linux and Steam Deck right out of the box. Finally, a resurrection we can get behind. But here’s where it gets real: The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki doesn’t just play again—it plays right. Forget tank controls and headaches from trying to aim. You can actually strafe now. Mouse look works. You don’t have to hold down the mouse button to look around like it’s some kind of punishment. It even has a radial weapon wheel. Called the Radialki. Yeah, someone had fun with that.
The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki - Fancy Edition | Launch Trailer
youtube
Movement is smooth, responsive, and familiar—WASD, left-click to fire (imagine that), and rebindable controls in a slick new custom launcher. And for the controller fans out there, it also supports the most common pads and the DK Bongos. That’s not a joke. Since you can bring down Radiaki with the same setup you used to play Donkey Konga. Customization is king in The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki. Want the original jank for nostalgia’s sake? Toggle the modern features off anytime. Prefer slick performance and cleaner visuals? Keep those upgrades on. You even get fancy new pillarbox art options—three of them, hand-drawn—for that extra style boost while you blast enemies with pixelated fury. It runs beautifully on Steam Deck, fully Linux-native, and lets you cloud save like a true save-scumming hero. Best part? It’s launching with a 25% discount for the first week on Steam. Dropping the games price to $4.49 USD / £3.74 / 4,41€. So if you're tired of gritty realism and want a dose of eccentric retro FPS history that doesn’t compromise on modern comfort — The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki is your next must-play. And now that it finally plays like the fever dream it was always meant to be, there’s no excuse not to dive in. Grab your weapon wheel. Save the world. And maybe, just maybe… enjoy the chaos.

so how would you want to make a more unique fantasy farming game then? /gen
I need one thing clear and that's that im a huge slut for rune factory 4. If I could just make it again I would
and now, a cut because i ramble like hell and my thoughts are incoherent
i would bring back the beautiful illustrated backgrounds of RF, like we've seen from from harvest moon tale of two towns too! I've had enough of the pixel art style I feel like it just became the default of indie farming sims, a byproduct of making the game and not a conscious design choice.
I would rather a big overarching story (boom! thats where you lose some players who just want a mindless farming experience- which is fine if you want, but jesus why do you even buy new games if they're all the same thing) one that pushes the farmer to also become an adventurer, maybe discovering new items that can help with farming in a big exploreable world (not open world. sick of those lately too. looks at rf5). allow the npcs to explore this world too! i think there's a lot games can do to make the npcs feel more alive, get them OUT of their cage in the main town, give them days where they're busy outside mining themselves or farming or whatever (HM ToTT allows npcs to wander into the wild area btw). Add multiple dungeoonss. enough with just the one mineshaft- it doesn't even make sense how resources would replenish every day it's immersion breaking- maybe crank up what you can get in one day and then give it a recharge time.
Emphasize building relationships. Allow NPCs to go through character growth. I don't think it's a half-bad idea to give the protagonist a voice like in RF, this can only help build a huge story. Maybe you can *only* learn some farming techniques after becoming friends with the townsfolk-not like a tutorial, like actual game progression. Really force you to some people's friendship, not just chucking presents at them every day- maybe some characters just dislike you from the beginning, like doug from rf4 you simply CANT get a higher friendship with him until later in the game.
As for farming, I think there are a lot of directions to go in depending on the style of the game. I say this because so many games are so painfully generic fantasy world with a pastel color palette and no real thought put into genre or world building. Again, farming feels like the byproduct of just making the game- not something integral to the story being told. What if you made a dark farming game, something gritty, a world where no plants seem to grow besides really low yield disgusting crops- maybe you're forced to grow these for a pittance, but over time you learn ways to revitalize the plants, a new technique for planting, a rare seed that you need to guard with your life, SOMETHING besides "you just got a huge fuckass lot. as soon as you can clear you can use it. have fun" WHY so often do we see games where there's a town in poor shape, low on funds, and yet they have this huuuuuge farm just collecting dust? how come all it takes is a *single* farmer to fix it? maybe make the player character more special and unique, give a reason for being so beneficial (cough. earthmate runefactory. cough)
using magic to quicken the daily chores can be good like in sunhaven, i just fear it becomes overpowered kinda quickly. tamed monsters in rune factory as well (though im biased and will prefer monster friends to magic any day). Why not ask npcs to come help you? if youre close enough friends. maybe return the favor by helping them with their fields some days? Maybe different farmers grow different things sometimes, and if too many people are growing the same crop, the price lowers and you're encouraged to try something else. idk!! there's so many things you could do!!!
Maybe a creative exercise for this type of project would be to imagine an existing, non-farming game and put farming in it. What might it look like? Breath of the wild. Here's my spitballing. Maybe you just get a plot by your house in hateno or something. You can visit it at any time, crops grow in time with the day night cycle, and maybe the type of crop that you get can be influenced by fueling the ground with compost that you can make from items from your inventory. Maybe using monster parts gives you evil fucked up plants that double as explosives or poison bombs, or maybe using star fragments or dragon parts gives you some celestial and very fragile crop that's good for upgrading armor and less for eating. Splatoon 3- fuck it every game you win/lose effects the growth of the plant. too many loses in a row it dies or is a really bad quality. Lots of wins and it's extra juicy and eating it later could give a boost for the next plants you grow- or maybe you can bring these plants into games to use as a limited bomb- like fizzbombs in splatfest. are these games actually missing these farming elements? no theyd probably be worse with these additions lol but if i would be doing a lot more of this speculation if i were to make a game myself.
okay. anyway. thats all. i would want to do more thinking about the specifics of the game id want to make before i could give concrete answers. i fear all my suggestions so far have been too tame- but that's because im absolutely not in game dev mode atm. but maybe one day, or with the help of someone similarly creative and motivated.

Tumblr media
Why am I so both of them (Patreon)
Upon first watch, I immediately started by relating to Angel, in no small part because of their intro
Tumblr media
Doodle on yellow sheet from 2019 came to mind, as well as bunnies being a motif, angels generally, being a fan of wearing stripes of course, hoodies - all on an ADHD enby artist whose favourite colour is bluple lol, no wonder I love them!
I also relate to Lee tho! Wait that sounds bad lol - more specifically in the dark clothes, body type, being a gifted kid, taking some things very seriously - even jokes by accident; so many of his little details, I kept being like “Oh, me” about. They’re both so well-written ♥ The realism evoked, their easy back and forths - the writing is very strong in my opinion :D
#My art#Man it's so fun to do pixel stuff with vectors huah#I considered going with any of my blue hoodies - I have several after all!#But where would Lee's fashion come in then?#I think what's especially funny is that the stripes are still a more recent addition to my wardrobe#I fully did the all-black-wardrobe from juniour high onward#Just like Lee....#Those yellowpage doodles were concept art to a comic about gender too...Huh#/And/ about being protected.....including from family.............. Hm :T#Stop being me please it's freaking me out /pos#Sign of a good realistic horror - hey wait stop that's too real haha#The realism can be very upsetting weh :'0 But again that just means it's well-made!#Honestly their chat in the car was something I related to so much - which was doubly interesting to me since they differ so strongly!#Angel says they don't relate at all and yet I'm over here like ''Oh yeah you've just described me'' to Lee's story#And then they share their side and I'm like ''No yeah that's also me....'' lol#There's a few little diametrically opposed moments like that which stand out to me in fact ♪#Like Lee's explanation of a water system through the brain - it didn't occur to me until after I'd shared that scene with the Reds#One sided with Angel and the other with Lee! (I sided with Angel as well for the record lol) But the fact that it's written Just So#That no matter which side you end up on the writing accounts for it just by how it is - not even an option to pick a choice to make just!#Just how it is..... Just how it's written...... Ah... Awesome....#It's really something :D Something to study something to admire ♪#It makes me a stronger reader!!!!!!! I love being a stronger reader it means I can return to the things I already love and love them more#I feel more prepared having experienced these two's journey to return to others I've enjoyed - I feel more ready to appreciate them :)#I love that kind of feeling <3 I love being challenged by a work and coming out the other side more myself hehe#And apparently more them as well lol - recognition of self in the other /slight concern /deep respect#Clinical Trial

bro grammarly literally has a built in thing now where you type in a prompt and it generates entire passages based on that i’m actually fucking sick. i’m also a visual artist and when i google very basic things to look for reference images FOR MY ART like upwards of 70% of it is ai generated bullshit it actually makes me want to kill myself
I know, it's really terrible. What I'm trying to find encouraging is how unified artists and writers are about how vehemently they all hate it, and in the case of generated writing how terrible that writing is. Hard to feel intimidated by something so bad it's not worth selling.
As for AI art--I'll be honest, I don't see the longevity. AI art cannot replace real artists, and I'm trying to be optimistic and envision a near future in which everyone sees just how little we can get from AI art. Because I think I can guess its use--companies will use AI to generate concept art and writing in order to cut costs for actual human creative work. But I think that that generated content will be so milquetoast that it cannot make a return on the investment put into it.
Think of all the amazing shows that are out right now, all the beautiful artwork and comics. The things that have a very purposeful style and tone, that speak to you in very personal ways. For me, it's The Bear and Succession--all elements of these shows, from the casting to the set design to the costuming to the dialogue and narrative, work together in ways that make the whole far more than the sum of their parts.
From what I've seen so far, AI can't do that. AI can identify basic narrative structure, can figure out how to replicate pixel and hue arrangement, but it can't make anything really meaningful. It can't identify shape languages and motifs that achieve emotional or didactic purpose. It can't speak to us in the ways we can speak to each other.
It also can't come up with anything new. AI only works when we give it something to regurgitate. There is no AI without real art and real writing. It can't produce anything original or interesting that someone else already came up with.
To offer you some practical help, I recommend SenshiStock and other stock artists for references, if it's poses you're looking for. You can also use model lookbooks or fashion ads, those can have some fun poses and perspectives. As for grammarly, there's not much you can do other than not use it.
And yeah, it's gonna be ass for a while. There's already a lot of human-made mediocre content out there that actually is making bank. But I want to have faith that our appetite for human connection will win out, and if not that, then at least we will eventually get so bored of AI's rehashed schlock that we'll go back to making stuff for each other again if only for the novelty.

Cloning Clyde
Tumblr media
Hours played: Around 10
Completion: 100%'d
I believe this was among the first wave of games for the Xbox 360 marketplace, and man, I remember playing the shit out of the trial version of this game as a kid. I don't think I even knew what the concept of trial version meant, but that didn't stop me from replaying the game again and again. Recently, I saw it was cheap on Steam and decided to buy it and finally see once and for all what was in the full version of the game.
The biggest thing I love about the game is its graphics, honest. Everybody has some old video game artstyle they really love, be it the beautiful pixel art on some of the titles on the PC-98, or the early uncanny stages of 3D on the PS1. For me, it's gotta be the specific kind of 3D in this game that I can't find the words to describe (maybe when I get better at writing). Combined with the surprisingly animated Clydes you control, and the game has this style that, while old, does not feel very dated. I absolutely adore how this game looks.
Anyway. You control the Clydes in individual levels, defeating security robots and exploding chickens to reach the goal while using various switch mechanisms, using animals to get further, and combining your Clyde WITH an animal to gain new abilities. The game only really has a handful of assets: just four or five level types, the aforementioned enemies are the only enemies, and the number of different puzzle-related objects are probably in the single-digits. Despite that, I never really got tired of the game's small handful of assets. I always enjoyed kicking the crap out of the security robots or jumping around the map riding a sheep, or pulling a random lever to see what happens. What the game has is charm.
However, the game does have a big weak point: the level design. Aside from the occasional puzzle that made me think a little bit, most levels can be beaten while functioning on autopilot. If you're going for 100%, the levels can just feel tedious, since some of them have 15 or 20 Clydes that you have to control and have escape individually, one at a time. Other times, the levels just get questionable, like how there were a couple levels toward the end that were very, very spacious for seemingly no reason. I didn't hate it, but it felt like instead of doing something new, they just took a level and spread it way out. GImmicks get reused, objects get used in the same way, and thus, a lot of the game's 30 or so levels blend together. There were a couple that stuck out, like a neat catapult puzzle that made me have to think for a minute, or the penultimate level, which was this absolutely massive sprawling course that felt like this game's The Great Maze from Brawl, but generally, most were forgettable.
Another gripe is the lack of background music. You'll get a little melody at the start of levels or for defeating every security robot in a level, but otherwise, it's just silent. In a game like Frogger Returns, I'm focused so much on not dying that I don't notice as much, but in a more explorative, relaxed game like this, it really bugs me.
For what the game has, I still really like it. It pretty much was what my childhood self remembered: this fun, jank little game with funny little character animations. I really, really wanted to give this game a 7, but it just doesn't quite reach that bar. Too much of the game just doesn't feel like it's pushing what it has to the limit. It's not the lack of assets that's the problem, it's that they mostly get used in very surface-level ways. Most levels in the game you could stick at the beginning and few would bat an eye.
Overall score: 6/10. Can recommend, was a fun experience. If you're an achievement hunter-type, this game is pretty easy to 100% on top of being relatively short.

It is likely we will return to this when someone else is closer to the front, but this may be fun! -🐍 Sylvia
1. Ceroba Ketsukane
2. Fictive
3. Unlike others in our system, I can not separate. My memories are vivid enough to where cosmetic changes usually revert after getting lost back in the underground.
4. Yes, many, in fact, as mentioned above, they tend to pull me closer to myself. I remember a few memories of Clover rather fondly, but I remember Starlo and Kanako even more so vividly. I remember the first time after my husband died that I took Kanako to the Wild East to help stay strong, knowing Starlo would be able to help. His little group, the Feisty Four, played with Kanako while he was too worried about me to focus on her, and we gad a drink and talked like old times. His joking and stories to try cheer me up while Dina did her best to play the part of a heckler while knowing my heart would need a longer time to mend. Ultimately, it was Blackjack who got me to be less despondent, he knew Chujin for dealings involving his work and recounting how he interacted with a colleague when buying some gunpowder was something that made me laugh thinking of his face given some of thr comments before the crying came back. Blackjack was always like a family friend, given his sort of flatness in tone and being up front even if gold did distract his morals, just makes me miss that town more.
5. It can vary, I know some are focused in certain aspects, but there is so much talent that is nice to see. Art of myself is oddly comforting, especially as long as it's not lewd.
6. No
7. Yes, but given who it was, I did not act as well as I could have
8. No butbthere has been temptation
9. I wish to drink, I regret a lot of what I have done, and I wish to find a way to fix and mend things. In difference, my transfornation left permanent effects as well as Clover lived in my memory, plus the fact that I am Bi-Demi and find myself crushing upon Dina when reflecting on my memories again even if Starlo was soneone I cared, and in a way still do care about even if he deserved better.
10. ... I haven't thought of that
11. The pixel art looks very good in my source as well as music
12. The difficulty, even if it was accurate
13. Mettaton being dispatched to the Dunes for his erradication duties and all Clover had to do was pop his tire before we ran to avoid the robot.
14. In minor ways, yes. It's nice having two taiks even if rhis body does not mimic besides phantoms
15. Sylvia mentioned I am an Overrider and possibly Protector, but I do not know.
16. Yes
17. Very much so
18. I do not have an answer
We need to buy more stuff -🐍
19. No, but we are about to buy a stuffed toy
20. So far, not really, most of my disparagement of this reality involves my friends not being here, and the fact that I do not want to be human.
