ok but the amount of begging u get for desserts like-

No, Razor u cannot have chocolate cake/cupcakes after every meal, u need to take care of ur teeth

(u use ur collection of mora-monster-donations for comms for more ingredients and living supplies like fabric + furniture, u cant afford dental on top of that for ur boy)

Fischl dutifully declares you the “best chef in the kingdom” and writes down all ur recipes (u have them auto-stored in ur settings obv but it cant hurt to have a physical copy, and they look so happy doing it, u don't have the heart to tell them its not necessary-)

Benny insists on both giving u extra ingredients when he takes ur commissions, and giving u handmade trinkets or weapons for the meals!!

No!! He will not take “im good” for an answer!! ur sharing ur home-cave with him, taking care of his best friend Razor, and now feeding him food better than Liuli Pavilion!!! There’s no way he can just take all that and give nothing back!!!!

and theyre not the only ones getting some food tbh

when the knights begin patroling near Wolvendom and slowly all of Mondstadt to search for their “All God”, u break up the beginnings of a fight between 2 confused knights and the now peaceful hilichurl camp at the edge of Wolvendom

U offer some snacks u were going to give Benny’s Adventure Team when they got back (u made little triangle sandwiches, rice balls, etc. finger foods, and u made plenty extra bc u kno their teenage appetites lol)

the knights and hilichurls nearly cried with appreciation, which made for a hilarious sight when the teens actually showed up lmao

ur wearing ur cloak, bc u dont wanna take on that whole “creator of worlds” title just yet, and the kids helped verify u werent anyone suspicious (Benny + Fischl keep ur godly secret, theyre the best like that 🥰)

the knights just swing by for snacks occasionally (they also either pay u in trade or with mora, theyre not bullies)

another person who gets flavored food privileges is the lazy librarian witch herself

u also sometimes pick Razor up from Lisa’s tutoring and bring “the best tea and tea snacks in the world” along with to share with Lisa and him

(she is also fully aware after awhile of meeting u of what u are, and fully believes this is why the food must be enchanted to be so good, but u dont want to be treated super reverently she can tell, so she keeps ur secret too and is just extra flirty when u come by lol)

(Razor refuses to let his pare- Lupical move out of ur cozy cave to the library, so he sometimes hauls u away when Lisa flirts too much LMAO)

u give him snacks too, and when he lets the staff try some, Adeline will not stop harassing him abt gettin ur recipes/ingredeints so u get him to pay Fischl to get a copy of their recipe book :)

including blank pages for future entries, and Fischl is literally glowing with happiness, would not stop monologuing abt ur food for weeks (send help Oz wants some peace and quiet sometimes)

So there's this Moment in the beginning of the Zimvoid arc where he's going on about how he's the only Irken to show up on Earth and when GIR is like 'but tak!!' he has zero recollection of who she is, which like. on balance I do enjoy, because much of the zatr/zatp appeal in my eyes is the coolest girl you know trying and failing to be the ultimate archnemesis of the most embarrassing candidate imaginable, and lacking object permanence wrt one of his most formidable enemies is a very Zimcore thing in general, but at the same time, in Tak's particular case I'm not so sure the characterization is accurate, based purely on the way he treats her in her one flagship episode.

For one thing, he refers to her by name—which wouldn't be all that notable, except in the grand scheme of things, Zim doesn't really address all that many people by name, enemy or otherwise. Granted, some of this is probably just that she's Irken, who all seem to get tiniest sliver more notice from Zim (if not exactly respect), but there's also a Tone to it—a certain je ne sais quoi in the way he tells her 'It's over, Tak!' that reminds me of the way he addresses Dib and the other rare enemies he views as adversaries rather than mere obstacles

Even more unusually, he actually acknowledges her skill and calls her good ('Not as a good as me—but still good!')*. This isn't ENTIRELY unprecedented, given that Zim does have a pattern of inflating the abilities of the people he's bested by in order to maintain his ego, but even still, it's not all that often he straight out comes and says that someone is a worthy adversary—even with Dib, this aspect of their dynamic is more of an implicit, obvious truth than something he'd ever articulate.

All of which is my long way of saying that Zim seems to have a surprising degree of respect for Tak, at least insofar as he can be said to have respect for anyone, which is... interesting. And definitely something I'll be thinking more about

* tangential addendum to this but I'm also reminded of the "you're a worse pilot than I am (wait...)" quip and the fact that makes out at least two occasions where he's directly compared her to himself. Hm!

I stumbled across foresight while trawling through ao3 and I kinda just wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed it! It was a wild ride and once I was strapped in I didn’t stop until I had reached the end. It was exhilarating, and had just the right balance of tension to keep me interested without making me feel overwhelmed. I normally gravitate towards plotless fluff because plot-heavy fics stress me out, so I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed reading your fic. So it was a really nice change of pace from what I normally read as well! anyway, fun fact: english is actually an incest language. there was an original Proto-Indo European (PIE) language that split into Germanic and Italic branches (~5500 years back). English is directly descended from the Germanic root, and the Italic split into Latin to French/Spanish/etc. When the Anglo-French wars happened in 1200s the French victors dumped a bunch of their language into the Old English that was developing in the British Isle in the time, which gave us a shitton of French and Latin* words

So that's why the English language's family tree looks like a circle and why words like 'father' and 'patriarch' have the same 6000 year old PIE root word but only have existed in the same language for a few hundred years

*but also a very similar thing happened with PIE splitting into Hellenic and Italic but the Romans were obsessed with the Greeks so that also they stole a bunch of words they liked, so we got a bunch of Greek stuff with the Latin via the French

Aquile first heard of the Grey Wardens as an apprentice in the Montsimmard Circle, being about eleven when the Fifth Blight struck in neighboring Ferelden. They never had any particular interest in becoming one; in their younger years Aquile was more interested in surviving an environment that didn't want them in it, and after the Circles fell, they purely wanted to survive. As far as they know, the Warden who conscripted them was the first Warden they'd ever met.

7. When and why did Rook join the Grey Wardens? Was it their choice, or were they forced to? Did they join in order to save their own life?

Aquile was conscripted into the Grey Wardens a few years after the Inquisition was formally disbanded. They could have refused, but being as the alternative was execution for murder, Aquile wasn't about to say no.

10. When does Rook learn about the fate of all Grey Wardens? What do they think of the Calling? Are they afraid of it? Do they look forward to it, someday?

Aquile discovered the truth entirely by accident (in other words, they were inadvertently eavesdropping) about three months after their Joining. They're... more or less okay with the whole "you're going to die young" part. Not so much the "you are going to turn into a ghoul if you don't die first" part. As it is, they try not to think too hard about what it means to be a Grey Warden. It kinda squicks them out.

Fun(ish?) fact!

You know how there are all those jokes about the red-headed characters in shows being replaced with black characters? This isn't a coincidence, it's a societal commentary on how people are typecast!

Redheads used to be the diversity hire of media in that the red-headed woman was put in there to be hot and exotic, and the red-headed man was placed only to be a funny little side character with an extra spot of color, never as the main.

As people added people of color to media they wanted them in the same position--they're diversity casts. The women are there to be exotic and sexy, and therefore replace red-headed women. The men they don't want in main roles, so the plucky side character is the obvious choice--the place the red-headed men used to be.

And since nowadays red-heads aren't considered diversity, it's not a problem when they're replaced, so it's really easy for people to not notice this trend and what exactly it means. (That is to say whenever I point this out to someone who's not a red-head they're like "???? I had no idea I didn't notice" and I'm like "well, yes, you probably wouldn't because you weren't excited to see a red-head in the first place, and then you weren't disappointed when you didn't have one in the reboot")

*note that some media that does this does a great job of having the poc character be good rep and doesn't treat them like a diversity cast we shouldn't take seriously, and as someone who is not poc myself I don't feel qualified to say how effective any specific show is about this, but I do think we should acknowledge the trend despite how effective any specific show is in not making it seem like that
