hey man the anti-AI stuff you reblog is rly. Reactionary idk how else to put it. It’s a mixed bag. AI has been used in art for a LONG time, it’s not as new as ppl think it is. It’s used a lot in animation especially. Obviously there is a difference between AI as a tool and AI as a replacement for artists/writers, but nearly every single instance of them attempting this has been catastrophically bad. (Doesnt stop the dumbass studios like Disney and Pixar to keep trying it tho, bc they value short term profit over any actual value) For AI being used in a professional setting, it’s imperative the distinction be made between tool or replacement. Machines, despite how efficient they have become, are managed by humans. Letting them run without a person actually operating it that knows what they’re trying to do is always a bad idea.

However, using AI generated pics for like. Personal use? Let’s say you aren’t a good artist, or as many have pointed out, can’t be an artist due to disability (none of that inspiration porn abt painting w your mouth some ppl can’t do that either.) and you’d like a picture of your Tabletop game character or OC or something, and you do not have the money to spare for a commission from the artist you like. Doesn’t mean you can’t pay for one later on, as a human will take the finer details you want and bring them to life, but if you’re looking for like. A placeholder? And you aren’t planning on selling it or some shit, then ppl shouldnt get on your case. Except every anti-AI bro now hears “AI” and flies into a frothing rage, saying it’s “never ok”. Nobody should care of somebody made a meme using AI or tried to make something just for themselves or friends. It becomes an issue when it’s being marketed as a “replacement” for artists.

Tldr: AI is a useful tool, the tech bros that got a hold of ot do not represent the entire scope of it. If it is used as a tool or personal use, it’s not an issue. It only becomes one when it is used as an explicit replacement for writers/artists.

first off, i wanna make it clear that basically no one thinks you're some sort of amoral monster for having used or even enjoyed what AI image generation and art can give you. most people genuinely don't understand the intricacies of its ethics and effects, and while ignorance like that is annoying, it's something most people who do get it understand and forgive with a sorta... exasperation. most of the time. now, maybe you're not coming from a place of good faith, i can't say, but i choose to think you are

i don't have the chops, time, or particular desire to explain what exactly is wrong with AI art generation (there's a lot in way too many directions), so i'll just give you a link to get you started (it's not a long read, just some basic critiques to jump from) and some admittedly harsh sounding (but well meant) advice that pertains to your particular use of AI:

you dont always get what you want. you're not entitled, for any reason, to the fruits of stolen (and popular AI datasets have been proven to unequivocally be stolen) artistic labor, especially if that theft is impacting the livelihoods of independent artists. (and don't give me "what about other generic media piracy" because that's its own can of worms and you know it. i won't hear it). it's not the end of the world that you have, but it's just not ethical to generate that art knowing it's based off stolen work- if it was all consensually given data it'd be different- and sometimes behaving ethically means you dont get what you want. tough shit. plenty of people can't or won't draw for all sorts of reasons, and none of those reasons suddenly make it ok for them to take other people's art

to be clear, if all the datasets used to train AI were ethically sourced- bought, donated, or taken from free use material- this wouldn't be an issue. i mean there would still totally be issues with casual generative AI, but this particular issue would be moot. the issue with AI art isn't the AI, it's what the AI's being fed. every time you engage with it gets smarter, and better, and more efficient at chewing up its stolen foods and spitting out a knockoff. the issue is what it's being fed and you are putting tokens in the little treat machine at its petting zoo enclosure

you want a placeholder? you got picrew. doll dress up games. hell, pester your friends for doodles. save up. or even just learn to handle not getting it at all- just pick something else

angus mcdonald, boy detective. he's not exactly new to the detective business, but he solved a pretty Big case and now ppl respect him more. they give him Special Permissions. specifically, he is given permission to take a crack at some older unsolved cases after solving one that has stumped everyone for Quite Some Time (insert classic spicy murder case here). he's getting to become a pretty Notable Detective and he is Ready For This. and a lot of them really just needed a fresh pair of eyes. like, hello, of course old mrs johnson wasn't murdered by her dog, it was obviously her Goddamn Husband, Holy Shit. that kinda thing, yknow??

so he takes this new case on. missing person, easy peasy. only it is not, in fact, easy peasy. the case goes as followed: elven woman, 300ish years old, has been missing for 10 years, was wearing a red robe, had an umbrella etc etc. it's a very pathetic case, if im being completely honest. angus tries to contact the family but the only stone line they gave is dead and every address they gave comes up fruitless. he thinks that maybe they're like, dead, or they gave up. understandable, considering their case had pretty much been declaimed dead before it started.

(which only makes angus wanna solve it more, ofc ofc)

and try as he might, angus just keeps hitting dead ends. like, so many fucking dead ends. he always feels like he gets close to something, but there's a Mental Block stopping him. not like a "i dont know what to do next" mental block, like a "i cannot physically comprehend what's going on anymore" mental block. he spends a while doing other cases, but he keeps coming back to it because there has never been a case angus mcdonald couldn't solve.

eventually, he finds another lead. or well, another case. the rockseeker family hears word about him and hire him to take a crack at finding cyrus rockseeker. coincidentally, he went missing ten years ago. that in itself is not too unusual- faerun as a whole has a disturbing amount of missing person cases, most dating 10 to 12 years ago. but that's a different thing entirely. the point is is that angus had a lead on where cyrus might have gone. the rockseekers own a mine- wave echo cave- and angus is like, 90% sure that's where he went.

so he gets down there and he doesn't find cyrus- but he does find someone else. red robe, check. umbrella, check. elf… skeleton- not preferable, but check. and angus, of course, does not want to tamper with crime scene evidence but he's gotta take something back with him to get tested, to use as proof so they can send another team down here, etc. so he takes the umbrella. and the ding dang skeleton disintegrates. aw man D:

so now he has an umbrella. a lead one case (angus knows all about the door n the rockseeker blood and all that. he had to sit through 45 mins of the rockseekers explaining this to him. but cyrus has got to be behind that door.), a kind of solved second case. at the very least, he can now inform the family what happened to their elf friend and assure them that he will continue to update them as the rockseeker case progresses.

only he can't find them. at all.

this is where the idea gets a little choppy. bc one one hand, i would Love for him to be able to find them before anything else. bc i like confrontation scenes. i did write a lil ficlet on that that we are ignoring for the sake of this ask meme lsdkfsd.

on the other hand, i have a very very vivid image of angus continuing to work on rockseeker case and trying to find the elf woman's family. when that falls through, he makes the rockseeker case his main priority. except that like- this umbrella does not want to leave him alone. the magic department in goldcliff say that it's an umbrastaff which means it's magic. and while angus does not want to tamper with evidence, it's hard when the thing literally rolls after him. it's his Friend now!! he loves it! it throws flames at his enemies!

anyway lskdfsd eventually it gets to a point where the rockseeker family is called in to help open the door- if they want to know where cyrus went, they're gonna have to get in that room. angus has a very uncomfortable adventure with gundren rockseeker and finally, finally the door is open. inside is, as predicted, is cyrus. except he's all burnt up and there's this Glove on his hand. and, again, angus does not like tampering with evidence but this time he doesnt even get to debate his reasons why by gundren is taking the glove and then he's on fire and, yknow, all of that.

jumpcut to angus in phandalin. end of htbg's style, the city goes up in flames, angus hides in the well with his umbrella friend. by the time he gets out, the entire city is just. Gone. n all that's left is the circle of black glass.

this, ofc, leads to a lot of investigations on what the Fuck happened. angus gives the glove a wide berth as he calls in reinforcements. part of me wants to say the militia takes the glove, somehow, but that seems like a mess. i think it's more of them blocking off the area and trying to figure out what the fuck it is, because they all feel the Weird Vibes about it. several people end up banned from the case because they just- want it so bad.

one morning, angus wakes up (im imagining little tents set up around the glassing) to an alarm blaring. there are People trying to steal the glove. angus isn't the toughest lil guy, but he's determined and he's fast, so he's the first to catch up with them. the thieves have this big silver ship that they are racing back, but Angus somehow manages to cut them off. he points the umbrastaff at them and is like "what the FUCK do you think your doing??"

missing person case, now ft. angus mcdonald as the role of Missing Person. turns out these thieves are not above kidnapping if you've got the umbralla that belonged to their long lost family member.

Don't get me wrong (love that for him) but I always imagined him idk I wouldn't say that he has internalized homophobia in canon but that he's either too oblivious to even get that he's attracted to boys (always imagining him thinking that a certain boy is sooo cool or "even prettier than a girl" - especially Sasuke ofc) or him being scared to come out because of his craving for acceptance and affection from ppl (villagers, friends etc). Obviously this doesn't mean that ur wrong or something like that :D KH Naruto is canon to me! I never read a fic where Naruto feels so natural like KH Naruto. But yeah, I'm really interested in what you think :)

you know, i had been fully prepared for that to have been something I would have to address at some point in the narrative, but it just never naturally occurred ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. i think it was a mixture of how slowly things between them progressed combined with naruto not really being the kind of person who reflects back on his actions like that. i always joke that i dont think Naruto has an internal dialog, and what I mean by that is that he exists so solely in the present, doing what his heart wants in the moment, that he rarely questions why he does what he does or how each specific action he does could affect the future (this is paralleled with how Sasuke rarely ever lives in the present, always flopping between analyzing the past and shaping his future).

so when these moments between them happen, Naruto doesn't really have the kind of brain that asks why or what does this mean. he goes off of his first instinct. the first moment between them was another accidental kiss, which we see him react very similarly to how he did in Sasuke's introductory chapter- he acts grossed out. you can view it as internalized homophobia, which i do see a bit of, but for me I always viewed it as the fact that it was Sasuke, whom he had such a conflated opinion on pinning him as his rival. he hated sasuke- or so he told himself. likewise with the sai moment we get in canon, which always felt like a mixture of internalized homophobia and the fact that it was sai.

but the moments with Sasuke keep coming, and Naruto just never put any thought into them at all. he acts on his instinct, which tells him that he actually really likes kissing sasuke so like you should keep kissing sasuke bc it's really nice kissing sasuke. he admits to thinking other guys are hot, because he does, but he never had the thought to question what that meant about his own sexuality. he just never reflected on it, so it never came up as a plot point that affected the narrative at all. hell, in Sakura's pov in kizuna shiten he was shocked to hear her call sasuke his boyfriend, and that was months after the events of his birthday. I'm sure if at some point during the early chapters some external source put it to actual words for him and forced him to confront the fact that he's sexually attracted to guys, he would have had a bit of a crisis. but because no one did and things between him and sasuke moved so slowly that by the time we get to the end of the original fic, he rates the intimacy with sasuke too highly to have any negative reaction to the fact that it makes him queer. honestly I'm not convinced that even by the end of shiten does naruto realize that he's not heterosexual lmaooooooo

when did you first start writing?

i think i was 12 when i first started PROPER writing. before then i did some kinda silly stuff here and there, but yeah, i was definitely around 12 yrs old. that was when i got access to a laptop of my own and between playing sims i started exploring roleplaying.

on what platform did you start to write?

it was this american website that got taken over by brazilians called orkut LOL. but i would say most of my writing back then was either done on msn messenger or when i started rping on twitter.

do you tend to focus on shipping or you do not care at all?

yeah i definitely focus heavily on shipping. not that i won't write things that aren't shippy, obviously, but i just like to explore shipping dynamics the most. particularly the toxic and really fucked up ones. like the darker the dynamic the more i'll be into it. i'm very easy to ship. i ship SO many crossover ships. and like idk sometimes all it takes is for me to like two characters to be able to see them together lmao. but obviously the most important thing for me is chemistry with the writer. sometimes it just isn't there. fortunately though that doesn't really happen all that often! but i also don't enjoy shipping with people who aren't flexible. for example, ppl who will only write submissive characters, or people who only write straight characters. it just isn't really appealing or interesting for me and i lose interest very quickly.

Does anyone else get fandom fatigue? Like you start getting bugged by the meme-ification of fandom and characters which used to be fun for you but ultimately now feels like it just leads to a distortion of characters/themes? And same with overally headcanon-y fandoms where it’s almost sacrilegious to say you disagree with popular headcanons that aren’t based in canon but more likely to be a result of trying to make a ship work.

Idk I feel like this has happened to me in multiple fandoms. and I definitely have different levels of tolerance for different fandoms and i try to make it work so it doesn’t bug me. Like for succession I don’t mind the funny edits and stuff at all but it is not the type of show I’d ever read fanfic for. And other fandoms I can read some fanfic but memes bother me. But obviously on tumblr it’s easier to avoid fic than memes

I feel like a big problem with it too is that I sometimes feel nervous about putting my own thoughts out there because I’m pretty non confrontational and don’t want it to seem like I’m attacking ppl’s view of a character. But then I get more and more frustrated.

Idk obviously the answer is to step away a bit and get some perspective but it’s hard because you still really like the show/book/whatever and want to participate in the fandom

(For the ask game) I have a couple of OCs, but I’ll do Dove since she’s my favorite girl :3 Dove is kind, hardworking (sometimes too much), affectionate (once she knows someone well), and teasing when she wants to be. She is from Texas originally, bilingual, and loves spicy foods and Tex-Mex food. She enjoys photography, journaling, and being in nature (especially if the weather is nice and cool). And she secretly(?) has a thing for slightly evil people *cough* John Seed lol. There’s probably more info but this is all I could think of for now haha XD

Okay so immediately I think on a surface level Heather would like her, simply because it sounds like they have a lot in common with the hard-working nature, being from Texas and enjoying journalling! They'd at least have a lot to talk about and bond over.

Heather struggles with friendships in general and Dove seems like a sweet person which is exactly the type of people Heather struggles with the most, if Dove likes evil people like John though maybe she'll be able to deal with Heathers attitude and once Heather realises she's not gonna be put off by her real personality she'll dub her the highest honor of actual friendship.

The only other problem that could arise is Heather obviously hates John and can't trust anyone close to him, but aside from that I think they could be good friends!

Piper would love Dove, she loves camping, hiking and being outdoors and she would love to have someone to do that with! She'd also enjoy how affectionate and teasing Dove is, Pip loves people she can bear hug whenever and have inside jokes with. (She would be the type to send Dove personalised memes at 3am). It's also very likely she'd get a big fat crush on her at some point because pretty women are just her weakness but she's also a lil coward so she'd never say anything about it and just be thankful to have a friend (seeing as despite being pretty laid back she can be a bit intense for some people and doesn't have many!). I think they could have a very chill, goofy kind of friendship tbh!

Anya, as you may or may not know, is a huge lesbian and when you put a hard-working, funny woman in front of her with interesting hobbies she will fall in love. She's also socially inept though so again, never admitting it—BUT, she would go out of her way to ask Dove about her hobbies and interests. She may struggle to share her own at first as she's very closed off and secretive but she's good at telling when people are honest and genuine and I think she'd see that in Dove and be more willing to tell her about herself. Anya also loves nature and she'd be more than happy to explore some of Hope County with Dove, she's great at picnics and will bring a bouquet along too because she can't help herself. (Dove may have to expand Anya's food palette tho bc her tastes are BLAND, like a pinch of paprika would kill her probably, help her).

Dean is the Golden retriever boy who befriends anyone whose nice to him for two seconds so i'd say he'd like Dove from the get go ajsjsjsj No but he'd definitely vibe with her personality and enjoy her company I think! He is touch starved so an ounce of affection would earn Dove his undying loyalty just sayin AND AGAIN outdoorsy man (I swear not all of my oc's our outdoor ppl this is a coincidence ajsjdjd) so he'd be thrilled to hang out in the wilderness and watch her take photos and if she gets tired piggy back rides are on the table! He also loves spicy foods and would always offer to cook for her btw his love language is feeding people and making them their fave drinks. He's pretty happy and laid back when there's not a cult takeover happening so I think they could definitely get along in the pre-reaping era (and they both have they same taste in evil cult men, tho Dean is super in denial abt it for a long time </3).

I really don't like when ppl record strangers and then post it for clicks and likes. Especially when said person is either on drugs or homeless.. or just out of it. It's really strange to just record that person, I've grew up in an area where ppl "tweakin"(yeah tweakin is being so high off some shit that ur body is spasming and or u possibly od. Ur not "tweakin" b/c a new product ur excited about finally dropped. Please stop using AAVE if u are not black and don't know the context of these words. It's not "genz" slang it's Ebonics. Or keep using the words and be fucking dense and inconsiderate cause "everyone else says it") and seeing someone be addicted to drugs is very scary thing to see cause there's not much help for them and most ppl don't have many other options, so ppl would rather take drugs.

Also I really don't find memes as funny anymore b/c most memes used is just a black person being black, or a black person's features being used as the joke. And when u call ppl out for it we are mostly gaslight and told "it's just a joke". I've also seen wayyy too many ppl use black ppl in PAIN as a running joke or a "haha funny" clip in a yt video. It's also just desensitizes Ppl even more when it comes to seeing Black ppl in pain or struggling. The fact that media will include making the most ridiculous rap names like "big cheese" or "big killa bunny" or some shit makes me think it's supposed to be "funny" obviously. These rappers have the "goofiest" names so let's make them even goofier. The thing is AGAIN that is something from BLACK culture that hollywood wants to make fun of. Again denying black ppl's identities when all the name is is a "punchline" to how "silly black ppl name themselves". Even when black Americans had to reinvent themselves after slavery we decided to make up our own names like Daquan or Lashawnda and in school systems or any system really apparently those names are "too hard too pronounce" we had ideas to make our own names and a lot of the help of creating those came from, Arabic backgrounds and some Muslim links. A white person can name off 10 different dog breeds but can't fathom trying to understand a black person's name. We are seen as sub-human. Also has anyone actually seen a dead body in their lifetime. A dead body in front of their eyes? I haven't but I watched this young man spasming or "tweaking" on the train stop home. His body was laying vertically on the bench, as he "tweaked". And there was nothing I could do for me. There was an ambulance that came but who knows if he was alive or not. I later on had a panic attack and started hyperventilating cause I guess it got to me.(I have a issue knowing when my body is in stress or something effects me) but i think it triggered me so bad b/c I lost 2 of my cousins to gun violence and they were also heavily doing drugs. (Now that I think about it I wonder if anyone else would've pulled out their phone and started recording the kid. nicknames for each other: tbh he really just calls her harleen and that is important.  it anchors her in her identity.  she calls him a lot of different things.  b & brucebat are the most common,  i think -- b is more subtle,  if they’re around people who don’t know he’s both.  brucebat is almost always in private.  maybe around the kids,  sometimes. these serve the same purpose -- to anchor him in his identity as both.  she’ll also go with good ol’ batsy sometimes.  and mr. wayne is definitely not a nickname,  but she quite enjoys calling him that.

what would they do if the other one was hurt: thankfully they’re both a little bit competent with this kind of thing -- neither of them have had surgical training,  but the basic first aid / emergency stuff i think they’ve got down. they’re both a little too good at disassociating enough to take care of the other person , but the aftermath is always messy.  bruce and the kids are literally why harleen goes back to school ( well . residency . . . ) to become a trauma surgeon -- because she knows she’ll need to be able to save their lives one day. 

who is the dirty talker: harleen. harleen.  harleen. she is absolutely fucking filthy,  though she does tone it down a bit for him , i think. she likes him blushing but she doesn’t want him embarrassed.  i feel like he’s probably pretty amused with how worked up she can get herself just by talking.  all bets are off if she’s tipsy and he’s in the batsuit though.  the things this woman has said. 

a headcanon: harleen only takes her engagement ring off for surgery,  and only because she has to.  i’m certain she asked bruce to pick a silicone band for her that she would be able to wear instead -- she could have just bought one but it means more if he gives it to her. i think she’s a little relieved to move to a more research based role eventually because then she can leave it on. since pearls are so delicate,  and since this one in particular means so much to bruce ( and thus to her ),  she’s incredibly cautious with her left hand.  she never bumps it against everything and unconsciously protects her ring all the time.  another headcanon ( that you know about but that i want to post nonetheless ) -- harleen has a tattoo like the one below.  it started with a single flower,  bruce’s favorite,  and she’s added a new one every time there’s a new addition to their family.

What I love about them

love is a strong word when it comes to saionji 💀 but ill admit i enjoy watching his clownery djsgdjxb in the end i found him p compelling, i think the way the show handles both his and touga’s positions as simultaneous victims and perpetuators of the system is rlly interesting… something something about how oftentimes we cling to systems that actively harm us because they also give us some degree of power over others and tempt us w the promise of even more 😔 err anyway, the point is i love that saionji’s queerness and legitimate struggles that come w that don’t exempt him from being taken to task for the ways he abuses what privileges he has, also it’s very funny to watch him get owned 💙 that being said tho i do get like 😔 over his part in the final duel… oh god oh fuck saionji we’re really in it now

What I hate about them

what’s not to hate about this guy… every time he even exists in the same space as anthy i want to rip him limb from limb… but in all seriousness i think the most damning thing about saionji is that he proves that he’s perfectly capable of understanding the abusive dynamic between akio and his victims and even goes to weirdly touching lengths to forgive touga and help him escape, and yet he does not extend any of that kindness or effort toward anthy and actively heaps on more abuse… i do appreciate that a lot about the show, portraying abusers not necessarily as like fundamentally evil people™️ who are somehow different from everyone else and easily identifiable, but people who make the active choice to leverage their power over others, whatever the circumstances may be 😔

im obsessed with the entire verdant hopes light novel like it’s maybe the funniest thing ive ever read, there’s a scene where saionji runs into wakaba at a department store and drops a bottle of salad oil, which he then asks a store clerk to wrap in a pretty bow bc it’s a gift for a girl, and wakaba is like WHAT. and saionji is genuinely shocked that she thinks it’s a stupid present. second funniest moment is when touga comes to talk to him at the dojo and says “i came to invite you on a date” and saionji pauses before tentatively saying, “me? 😳” and touga is like “haha a double date, i mean. don’t get me wrong, i don’t swing that way” and the narrator is like “this was obviously a lie but saionji didn’t need to know that” LIKE. I think bodyshaming can be very easy to notice for dteam because they have a big following, but also because they actually talked a bit about weight related things and diets. It’s really a community wide problem tho.

Tubbo being called fat. It used to happen to Schlatt too. Ranboo had a lot of people talking when he first body revealed. Likewise Fundy is constantly being called scrawny (tho I’m convinced the dude can’t put on weight even if he would want to). But hey people love charlie and foolish

Bro Tubbo and Schlatt got it bad. I feel worse for Tubbo because the guy obviously has an unhealthy relationship with food and isn’t overweight in the least yet people keep doing the chubbo meme and just calling him fat in general, it was horrible. Plus he’s clearly bipolar which (I speak from experience) makes eating habits very hard to build (back and forth binging and fasting constantly) plus he’s definitely got some sort of undiagnosed neurodivergency. I’m not sure what but I mainly see autism so I’ll use that as my baseline: it’s especially hard for some autistic ppl to have good eating habits as well, never mind neurodivergent ppl in general. Not to mention he’s an ex-gymnast, and we all know how that goes.

Then Schlatt. I mean come on, his weight was obviously put on through alcohol and depression (lack of motivation). I can’t say I’m surprised people went after him though, considering how many antis he has. I like to think it doesn’t get to him bc he’s an adult with thick skin, but let’s be honest, he’s a bit of a softie. He says he grew out his chops to be less attractive, later says he put on weight for the same reason. He saw people shaming his weight, and because he’s spiteful he took it to heart and tried to turn it against them (“haha! It was intentional!”). He calls himself fat a lot, goes after his own appearance, specifically his weight. Honestly, in my opinion, he’s not even fat! Not that it’s a bad thing if he was, but he’s clearly just overweight.

I do think it’s kinda interesting the comparison between the two though, shows just how many causes there can be for body image issues. Tubbo is due to neurodivergency (bipolar + autism) and childhood (to be frank) trauma, Schlatt due to depression.
