How old do you think the dragon laguz are?

I'd like to preface this answer by, an answer to this question will vary from person to person, as there is no hard set answer given and so the answer depends on how you want to interpret various canon and canon-adjacent facts (Canon facts being explicitly what is contained within the games and nothing more, canon-adjacent coming from artbooks or developer interviews and such things).

I've already explained in depth how I get to my interpretation here, but the basic gist is that the canon-adjacent chart that's commonly passed around as "canon aging" comes from pre-development of FE9 and it: contradicts canon facts; contradicts things the devs say in interviews post RD; and contradicts the hawks' designed ages in the same art book. Therefore, I mostly throw it out when I'm setting up how laguz age within my own interpretation of the age of various laguz and Branded within the games. That's not to say other people who use it, or people who came up with their own ideas, are wrong, but I have my own opinion and they have theirs and we can coexist.

But you asked me, and so I will provide my interpretation. The tl;dr for quick reference:

Dheginsea: 862 in FE9; 865 in FE10

Rajaion: 365 in FE9

Almedha: 304 in FE10

Kurthnaga: 103 in FE9; 106 in FE10

Ena: 233 in FE9; 236 in FE10

Nasir: 563 in FE9; 566 in FE10

Gareth: 451 in FE9; 454 in FE10

More info and details about how I arrived at these answers are below, but it is according to the detailed chart I provided here when going over how I think laguz likely age.

Dheginsea: Since the Pact with Ashera's heroes occurs in the year 131 BT ("Before Theocracy" which is a term being made up by me to function as BC/BCE does IRL), and the flood occurs in the year 155 BT, and the games occur during 645 BE ("Beginion Era" which is used by Almedha in RD) and 648 BE, and Dheginsea is designed to appear around 50 for a dragon, my best guess is that he was born around 217 BT, and therefore around 86 when the pact was formed and 862/865 in the games. (According to my timeframe of laguz aging, he was about the equivalent of 16 during the war against Yune. Young, sure, but Ike is 17 in FE9, so I'm chill with this).

Rajaion: Well, he was fun, because in his profile, he is designed to appear around 23, but Almedha, his younger sister, is designed to appear around 26, so one of those had to go, and it was Rajaion's designed age. With the freedom to pick my own age for him, I settled on a rough equivalent of 30, meaning that he was born around 280 BE and is around 365 years old in FE9, simply because I don't think dragons are having kids back to back to back seeing how long Ena is pregnant for (anywhere from ~4 to ~23 years, and I'm siding on the ~23 end of things).

Almedha: As stated above, Almedha is designed to be around 26, therefore I set her to being born around 344 BE, with an age of around 304 years old in FE10.

Kurthnaga: We do have, per canon, Kurthnaga is at least 100 years of age, so with him being designed to appear around 17 and the canon facts in mind, I see him being born around 542 BE with a rough age of 103/106 in the games, as it appears the Japanese description of his age is "roughly 100" (ああ見えて、ざっと１００年は生きているはずだ, and I am, as always, using Google Translate, so I am unsure of the accuracy of this translation), whereas the localization says "more than 100" and 103 is true on both counts.

Ena: While she was designed to appear around 18, that would only make her around 122, which just bothers me thinking about the fact that she and Rajaion were an item at least 20 years before the game, if not earlier (making her 16-17ish). Therefore, I decided that she was born around 412 BE, was around 233/236 years old in the games with an equivalent age of 23. It makes me feel better.

Nasir: He has a designed age of around 32, but that would only make him around 414 years old, or 181 years older than Ena, which is not grampa age (292 years older, while at least possible, is also not really grampa age for dragons, if I had stuck with the looking 18 thing for Ena). Therefore I set him to being born around 82 BE, giving him an age of 563/566 years of age in the games, and an equivalent age of 38, and he would be 330 years older than Ena which would allow him and his child to get to around 165 years old each before having a child (20-21ish) and not bothering me with how long dragon pregnancies seem to take.

Gareth: Thank Ashunera, we are finally no longer dealing with anyone who has to account for Rajaion and Ena's relationship. He has a designed age of around 35, so I set him to being born around 194 BE with an age of around 451/454 in the games.

i won my unemployment appeal! this means a judge reviewed my case & decided i had committed no misconduct, so now my old company owes me money, which i am very smug about.

it’s been over a year and i definitely over-prepared for the appeal (i was the only person who showed up & the judge said the amount of physical evidence i submitted felt like a ‘bombardment’) but it’s very like. validating. to hear from someone with no bias in my favor that actually, That Was Bullshit

i gave them a chance, too. like last march, they wanted me to sign this thing that waived literally all of my rights, including the right to file unemployment, and i was like, tell you what. you don’t have to pay me severance, i’ll sign your waiver, and we never interact again--if you amend my termination to a resignation.

like that was such a good out? why did they have so much faith in such a weak case? ik i’m laid back professionally but my tenacity was never in question. literally one of the pieces of evidence they submitted was syd telling me to “let it go” and me insisting i hadn’t even let the animation error in the Frozen gif she said it with go. i don’t let things go, man! i hold onto them forever! y’all knew that!

deadass don’t even care about the money. like i won’t say no to the money but for me this has always been about My Honor or whatever. i try like. real hard to be a good person. like i have severe anxiety about it. and honestly that’s not even to say that people who actually willfully commit time theft are bad people, like i fully encourage it! fuck the man! there’s a reason i didn’t rat out the 4+ coworkers i knew were playing video games on the job, & that’s because i hold myself not to moral standards but to insane made-up criteria which do not actually align with my beliefs. see: my inability to lie. lying is not a moral failure, it is a violation of the laws my OCD insists keep me from exploding into dust.

Im tired of this constant emptiness that i feel everyday from the moment i wake up to the time i go to bed . And i dont want any sympathy from anyone im just here to let out my feelings. I live everyday the same. I go to work mon-fri, 6am-2pm with people who are just so internally ugly . I get home just to find myself with no motivation but to play my video game, smoke some weed and get sucked in as the hours pass… 2hr 3hrs to 5hrs or more, till i get hungry and decide not to make dinner but order food bcs i have little money to always spend on groceries or i dont feel like cooking. Eating distracts me from my bad thoughts for a bit i guess it gives me a euphoric feeling when the food is good. I think about all the things i could be doing but i dont do them, mainly bcs i dont enjoy the area (city) i live . It’s not safe i cant dress the way i want to without getting harassed or feeling like im dressed inappropriate or not normal . Theres not much to do when you dont drive or have a car of your own, but ig thats my fault for not studying for my permit. Everything in walking distance is just grocery stores or parks for kids and nature thats all. I dont have any friends at all and i mean really… I cant remember the last time i had someone to hangout with , to laugh and talk about whatever i want with . Now. I have my boyfriend of 3 yrs we live together and he great and i love him and he loves all of me but i can see in his face that he knows im unhappy, it upsets him. Ik i let him down little by little everyday . Everythings been killing me slowly, all these feelings and thoughts of, guilt, anger, sadness, dissatisfaction, disappointment, and worthlessnesses. Its gotten to the point where i dont look forward to waking up anymore or just waiting for the day to be over. If im gonna live the same day over and over whats my purpose if im not doing any good for the future my future .. his future.

My mom wasnt very successful in life so she never taught me how to be strong a go for what i want and my dad wasnt in the picture very much to support me in those ways. I have so much anxiety and no ones ever told me how to go on in the real life after high school. Ive been trying to get by with what i can. Its so hard i dont understand why i cant motivate myself to be better, healthier. Im 23 and i almost hate myself, but i don’t want to. I know all the things i could do to feel better but im not motivated anymore. ok so picking up after the david trilogy, which hit hard as FUCK, we have book 23, which basically was a semi truck that ran over my corpse, jesus christ, they really followed up the david trilogy w/all that....

23 was so so good and also painful. its the culmination of a lot of tobias’s characterization in the series thus far and also we finally get the reveal we’ve been waiting for about elfangor....ooooh man 

and there was a lot of painful stuff in this book but the worst imo was tobias wondering if it were possible that somebody wanted him and would take care of him, only to have it all come crashing down in the worst way when it turned out aria was visser three in morph, ouch. 

that was so brutal augh. and when he figured it out and just crash landed and kept thinking about how he wanted to die and how he was stupid to think he could have a home...bro get these kids some THERAPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

so yeah that book was absolutely brutal but also so good...and it further fleshed out the animorphs working as a near-flawless team, w/the whole setup of tobias meeting w/the lawyer being so airtight and well-planned 

also more free hork bajir!! its cool that there's stuff happening w/them offscreen, I like that 

I literally had to take a break from reading the books bc the david triology + 23 was like so much, and also bc the olympics were on and all my time got dedicated to watching those, but then I opened 24, not sure what to expect, and BAM it was the helmacrons lmaoooo

I don't even remember the helmacrons but ig a lot of people hate them? lmao so that whole reputation preceded the book and I was like oh wow time for a change in tone

which wasn't wrong but also I liked that book?? I was never bored, even tho the whole thing was patently ridiculous and also had very little bearing on the overarching story

but I think it would be a standout if it were a TV episode w/a good budget - the visuals were amazing even in text, and I can imagine all the cool shrinking/growing/cellular stuff would be WICKED cool visually (ideally 2d animation but an ant man-esque live action adaptation wouldn't be terrible if they had the budget for it)

whatever let me dream. so yeah I didn't hate the helmacron book even tho the helmacrons themselves were...sure something. lmao I think they come back? that should be interesting

next book is the arctic one, we have yet another alien of the week style adventure - I liked this one too, it felt like more plot-y stuff happened since they destroyed the base, and marco’s POV is always fun 

I do find it funny/interesting how sometimes when the animorphs do something - like in this book, destroying that base in the arctic - it doesn't really seem to impact the yeerks much/it doesn't get brought up much after that. and then other things like them destroying the ground-based kandrona get mentioned a lot (that example is understandable tho bc that WAS a big deal). its just hilarious to me how blowing up entire building complexes has become so routine that it isn’t even worth mentioning at this point

Also I adore when they meet other random people/kids and are chill w/them, like w/that kid they met in the rain forest earlier on w/the time travel 

the descriptions of the brutally cold weather were great. I hate the cold so I was like oof this is a nightmare lmao

also ig that was the first ghostwritten book and I did kinda notice it was slightly different than usual? maybe? I could be imagining it tho 

okay but book 26 tho...BOOK 26. bruh 

that was SO good and I really didn’t know what to expect - but when we finally revisited Jake’s dream w/crayak I knew it was gonna be good (but I didn’t expect it to be a chess game war epic..!)

basically I loved it. SUCH a good Jake book - I really appreciate his character now as opposed to when I was 10 and often overlooked him (sorry jake).

similarly, when I was a kid and read these I sympathized a lot w/the chee and felt bad for them towards the end of the series when they had to get more involved in the war (genuinely don’t remember what they even do but ik I felt bad) 

but now I've basically 180′d and I'm like damn those chee sure are hypocrites huh. 

like they could solve So many of the animorphs problems but their stringent adherence to nonviolence leads to them actively getting in the animorphs way sometimes? and obviously pacifism is a complicated topic, but in this case it also intersect w/the whole ‘child soldier’ thing, and as beings who are insanely old and wise, the chee probably shouldn't just leave all the dirty work to a bunch of literal middle schoolers

aaaaanyways. there’s so much I love about this book. the iskoort! they were sure something. and the ‘plot twist’ that they are actually 2 beings, the Isk and the Yoort - and the Yoort are essentially Yeerks - that slapped. the symbiosis of it all! 

I loved the part where they all realize what this means, that this is why Crayak wants the iskoort destoryed - because someday the yeerks might come across them and realize parasitism is not the only way. I love it! 

alas I don’t recall the iskoort returning in the story (but also my memory is terrible so who knows?) but still that would be cool

basically I feel like this is the book where Jake Truly comes into his own as a leader, in every sense. he outmaneuvers Crayak, and even the ellimist, who’s yanking them around in his own way

the scene where jake shoves the howler off the cliff and jumps off and morphs and acquires the howler...that was fantastic and tense. 

also the murder is definitely becoming more overt. I mean, it has been for a while, but it isn’t really pointed out as much anymore. oof

more on the chee - as Jake points out in this book, and other characters point out in other books - the chee could have saved the pemalites, but instead just stood by while their creators were slaughtered. on the other hand, jake says, what do the chee do AFTER they’ve killed the howlers - where to point them next? when is the end of their violence? 

buuuuut also standing by while atrocities occur is pretty damning, as is frequently mentioned in this series - from the very beginning, when marco initially doesn’t want to get involved in the war at all, and the other animorphs basically tell him that turning his back on the war and acting like he doesn’t even know it’s happening would be immoral and cowardly (which imo this reaction helps to push marco in the direction he ends up going, but I digress) - this topic comes up again in 19 when cassie quits the team and rachel is upset bc she sees it as cassie elevating her own feelings above the greater good (as in, as long as cassie feels good about how she acts, it doesn’t matter how much preventable evil the yeerks are committing while she turns away). etc etc. but that’s essentially what’s happening w/the chee - even tho they help w/intel, the lack of any sort of Action on their part means that they’re essentially allowing awful things to happen when they could prevent them. this is rambly but basically...animorphs deals so much in grey areas, and the chee are noticeably black and white in their actions, despite falling, in a meta sense, in an extremely grey area. its such good, thought provoking writing!

anywayssss I keep talking about the chee lmao what else was there. oh YEAH jake and cassie kissed for the first time awww that was super cute 

and ofc immediately marco teases them as asks jake if he’s gonna kiss him next, and all I can say is...marco is a bicon 

also I love the background worldbuilding w/the iskoort, how they have all these groups and guilds and stuff - its not dwelled on much, which actually works really well to give the world/species a sense of lived-in realness 

okay oh man and the reveal at the end that the howlers were just like...children who thought the whole thing was a game...AUGHH man that’s sooo fucked 

like, when jake morphs the howler and has rachel ready to knock him down in grizzly morph if he gets out of control due to the howler’s murderous instincts, and he morphs to find that the howler is...playful, like a dolphin morph. SUCH a good fucked up sense of dawning horror there 

and the fact that as far as I can tell the chee KNEW this, but wanted revenge anyways, so they let the animorphs assume that the howlers were Evil On Purpose

also I love smaller moments, like jake seeing that ax is ashamed for briefly running away during one battle w/the howlers, and then entrusts him w/an important task bc he knows that ax will see that as redemption - and when everyone thought jake was dead and were so happy when he wasn't (they all love each other so much im gonna cry about these child soldiers augh)

basically that book was so good

man one thing I absolutely love is that the longer the series goes on the more obvious it is that andalites, despite inventing morphing technology, barely use it themselves 

like, most of the andalite characters we see barely morph. its kind of a last resort to them, as they’re already plenty dangerous in their regular forms 

meanwhile for the animorphs, that’s all they have to fight with. that’s their only weapons against the yeerks, and its so fun to see them use the power in so many varied ways, and so creatively, while the andalites have barely scratched the surface of their own technology

its also interesting to contrast against the yeerks who start out w/absolutely no technology, and the andalites share some but not all of their technology w/them...its too bad that morphing technology was just starting out cause that would’ve been interesting

like imo a lot of the conflict w/the yeerks could’ve been avoided if they could just nothlit into better forms - of course, there’d still be plenty of yeerks who want to go start wars or w/e, just like pretty much any species in the series, but a lot of yeerks would probably be like ‘yeah I'm good’ and just chill out as nothlits

also people online love to talk about how humans are alienfuckers and would definitely have sex w/sentient aliens and whatnot, and while I'm not saying that's untrue, its just funny bc in animorphs the truest alienfuckers are definitely the andalites

as of the hork-bajir chronicles, we now have a second instance of an andalite morphing another species to be in an inter-species alien romance (and eventually have kids) 

speaking of, I don’t think I’ve talked abt the hork bajir chronicles yet??? even tho I read it a while ago lmao 

HBC was great...I honestly haven’t really run into an animorphs book I’ve actually disliked at this point, I’m sure it’ll come w/all the ghostwriting and whatnot, but I’ve liked at least some aspects of every book

anyways HBC was great, and it’s funny bc I remember that I read this book as a kid, and yet rereading it now I didn’t remember a single bit of it lmaooo

I really liked the framing device of the free hork bajir telling this story to tobias. I also liked how we know from the beginning that this story wont have a happy ending - we know all the hork bajir end up enslaved by the yeerks, but it’s still somehow hopeful at the end? I think this is largely due to the framing device tbh. 

also I love toby, and I love that the First free hork bajir named their kid after tobias ;_; 

and oooh mannn I LOVED the different POVs from this book. all the characters were so interesting! aldrea was fascinating - I really like the increasingly negative view of the andalites that the readers are getting, all while maintaining the sense that they aren’t like, actively evil, just that they have their issues - like aldrea’s arrogance, and the general andalite arrogance which lead to the loss of the hork bajir. also, who knew andalites had their own brand of sexism? Ls

I did like getting a female andalite tho, that was cool. and dak was really cool, he was such a good, compassionate character who was able to maintain his morals in an interesting way throughout the story

and VISSER THREE...or should I say esplin 9466, because he’s not visser 3 yet...getting his ‘origin story’ was excellent - I really like how we’re learning about visser 3 backwards - we start off the series w/him as the main villain, and he’s campy and menacing, and then we see him in the andalite chronicles as a power-hungry sub-visser trying to climb the ranks and eventually getting alloran as a host, and then back even further here, w/the start of his focus on the andalites and the beginning of his ambition. its been very cool and interesting to see

plus, the beginning of the yeerks as we know them! seerow! alloran! it’s a party and nobody is having a good time, except for some of the yeerks. 

I like how it’s pretty obvious that the andalites are well-meaning with their interactions w/the yeerks, but go about it the wrong way - they give them enough technology that the yeerks realize there’s a whole world out there to experience, and then they blockade the yeerks on their planet and tell them they can’t leave. nnnnot the best approach imo

again, as I said above, I’m interested in how things could’ve gone if the andalites had given the yeerks morphing technology early on - could a lot of the conflict have been avoided, or would it have been worse? the yeerks seem pretty evil in this book, immediately jumping to enslave anyone they can. otoh we hear from esplin that not all yeerks like having host bodies, and find it overwhelming, preferring to swim around in the yeerk pool as a slug - I assume as host bodies became more available this type of thinking was probably stamped out in yeerk society or w/e, but there are a lot of interesting what-ifs in the situation 

I loved the scene where esplin first experiences having a host, and immediately knows he can’t go back. there are a bunch of great sensory descriptions, and it’s a nice scene to pinpoint as a foundational moment for the visser three in the current story, who spent a lot of time and energy getting what he sees as the best possible host body, an andalite

I find it interesting how much visser three clearly respects the andalites, even while constantly deriding them. and you can see the origins of that here as he immediately focuses in on the andalites, working to become an expert on them in order to make himself useful enough to move thru the ranks

another thing I like is how esplin seems a lot more crafty and ambitious than the visser three from modern times - I would guess that reaching his goal (andalite host body) and being given all that power was detrimental, playing on his weaknesses instead of his strengths. basically, I don’t think it’s ooc or anything, I can see how HBC-esplin became animorphs-esplin, especially w/TAC in between

as for seerow...poor dude. you really do have to feel for him, because you get the sense he really did just want to be kind to the yeerks, but it was borne from a place of pity, and he (and the other andalites) consistently held too much power over the yeerks for the species relations to ever be truly equal and functional 

AUGH I have so many thoughts about alien space politics. omg. I need to talk about the actual story lmao

so yeah I also feel for aldrea, she had a rough time, watching her entire family die and being thrown into a hopeless war

and then the andalite council or w/e not listening to her bc she's a girl AND seerow’s daughter...oof

also, I really really liked the running theme of the andalites - specifically aldrea - looking down on the hork bajir as ‘simple’ and constantly underestimating them, especially dak

and I like how this is portrayed as a bad attitude for aldrea to have, and she still remains and interesting and sympathetic character even while having obvious flaws. it’s about being 3-dimensional baby!

and oh man I love that dak realizes that aldrea looks down on him, and his entire species, but he can see that that’s how the andalites are, and it all connects back to the beginning of the story w/the yeerks, bc the andalites looked down on the yeerks and treated them with pity and kept them pinned under their proverbial thumb ‘for their own good’ and look how that turned out 

but dak is wise and kind enough to not hate aldrea for this, even acknowledging when she’s using him, but not pushing her away because he recognizes good in her too - and she ends up changing, partially because of his faith in her

and I feel like it can all be compared to that scenario of like - a hypothetical creature that lives in a 2D world suddenly being thrust into a 3D world, and comprehending what its seeing, and understanding that there’s so much more out there outside of the flat lines of its world - and then its dropped back into 2D-land with the knowledge of all the stuff its missing out on, and no way to get back to it or explain it to anybody else

I loooove that ‘trope’ or w/e you wanna call it, and it’s done beautifully here w/the yeerks - whos the say they wouldn't have been fine in their pool swimming around; as esplin said, a lot of the yeerks were terrified of having a host, it was only from the andalites’ perspective that their lives were sad and pitiful, and the andalites showed them what the world could be like, and then said ‘no, you can’t travel the stars like we do, you have to stay here on your planet and do what we say.’

and then again, w/the hork bajir - dak talks about how, even though he drinks up the knowledge that aldrea gives him, in the end it might have been better to just have lived peacefully, not knowing what was in the sky or the Deep - as aldrea says: “It was too late for Dak: he knew that the stars were not flowers.” 

plus the hork bajir having to go from a completely peaceful species who don’t even understand the concept of violence, to a bunch of soldiers fighting a war...oof 

basically everyone in this story uses the hork bajir. the yeerks use them as hosts, the andalites use their planet as a convenient place to dump seerow and then take their sweet time coming to help, and the arn created them as means to stabilize the planet, but block them off from their society and refuse to help when the yeerks come

like, the arn modifying themselves to be un-infestable by the yeerks and then being enslaved for physical labor instead? oof guys. if they had teamed up w/the hork bajir resistance things might have gone better, but probably not 

more on aldrea - throughout the story I was always thinking ‘how am I supposed to see her? as a good person, or as a bad person?’ 

as a POV character, especially a ‘good guy’ andalite, you just start off automatically thinking of her as a good person, but as the story goes on, she starts getting lost in revenge and begins using dak and the hork bajir, and you’re left wondering if this is a story about her slide into darkness, and then towards the end of the story her character development culminates in her making the decision to stay w/the hork bajir, and the be with dak, and that’s about when I went ‘ohhh right this is animorphs so every character is pretty much gonna be grey’

I feel like that moral grey-ness was on full display w/aldrea, and I really enjoyed that. I love so much when characters who are good do bad things, for good or bad reasons, especially in media like animorphs that’s aimed at kids. it’s so compelling. 

oof, and the ending when aldrea convinces dak to mobilize the hork bajir and teach them violence...and dak asks her if she’s ever killed another andalite, and she’s horrified, and says of course she hasn’t, and he says that that’s what she’s asking him, and all the hork bajir, to do - to kill their own people, even if they are being controlled by the yeerks. biiiig oof. I love that dak can keep up w/aldrea and her andalite supremacy attitude - it seems that the non-andalite characters who get along best w/the andalites are the ones who wont take their bs 

what else happened....oh my god how could I forget about alloran, and his quantum virus. oooof. I like how we find out about alloran in parallel to visser three, in the same backwards way - in animorphs he’s the tragic host of visser three, in TAC he’s the disgraced but still semi-respected war-prince who becomes the first ever andalite controller, and here he’s the guy who decides to commit some war crimes because, hey, we haven’t tried that yet 

but yeah that was fucked up, I love it. I’ve said it before I think but I like that alloran isn’t some perfect martyr tragically taken by the yeerks - it’s a lot more compelling that he’s a very flawed person who was taken as a controller partially due to his own bloodthirstiness. 

but yeah, the part where aldrea morphs alloran and ‘sneaks’ into that room was great. aldrea’s dedication to disposing of the virus is a great indicator of her character development - it really feels like the straw that broke the camels back w/re: to the andalites not being what she thought they were, w/their tardiness coming to help the hork bajir planet and the way her father was treated being the precursors to this realization. it all culminates nicely in aldrea saying ‘fuck this actually’ and nothlit-ing into a hork bajir.

and it’s really tragic but realistic that even though aldrea and dak end up seeing eye to eye at the end and getting together, the virus ends up being released anyways (and fails in its objective to stop the yeerks from using the hork bajir - the whole thing was p much a lose-lose situation oof), and aldrea and dak still die fighting a hopeless war 

but then we have the free hork bajir on earth, including toby, who, like tobias, has andalite ancestry, but no DNA to show for it - I like that they have that connection as well as tobias being her namesake

so yeah I enjoyed that one and its many-layered themes

a lil bit of a timeline bc ik i should be working on drafts and everything before tonight bUT i haven’t done my verses page yet soooo figured this would be useful until i get that set up hopefully this weekend sometime;

Pre-IM: Lucy would basically be anywhere from the age of 3/4 - 11. She spends the school year with her mother, and spring break, summer vacation, and big holidays with her father. I would also probably say this is Lucy’s primetime of sassiness.

Iron Man: Lucy is 11 going on 12 during this part of her timeline. She’s dealing with her father having been kidnapped and the stress that’s put on her family from it. This also deals with the era of when he’s come home, and the creation of Iron Man, plus her hospitalization following Stane’s attack.

Iron Man 2: Typically also works for the time gap between it and Iron Man. Lucy’s about 12-13 since Iron Man 2 takes place six months later, and this would also cover the era before Avengers as well? So basically young teen Lucy dealing with new adjustments in her life, fully living with her father now and just trying to get by.

Avengers/Iron Man 3: Lucy is 15/16 in this part, turning 16 after the events of Avengers. This is about the time she also starts the formation of ideas for creating her own suit to help her father, seeing what he’s going through, but ends up scrapping the idea until later on down the road. This is also the point in the timeline her godson Sebastian is born, and they have the scare of Nora almost dying from birth complications, and Lucy has a bit of a crisis over it. Post Iron Man 3, she’s living in New York in Avengers Tower with her Dad, and spending a lot of time also checking in and helping Nora take care of Seb. She’s also recovering from the experimentation done on her by Aldrich Killian when he put the Extremis virus in her alongside Pepper, and dealing with the aftermath of that. This is probably Lucy at one of her shakiest points emotion wise.

Civil War: This part of the timeline mostly focuses on Lucy post CW, unless the thread we do takes place during it. She’s 20 and in college at this point, and after her third year of college comes home to check in on her Dad and Rhodey, coming back to New York to stay and help. It’s about this time that her street racing begins as does going back to the scrapped ideas of building the suit. Typically, her main verse takes place after this part of the timeline.

Infinity War and Endgame: So. This is actually one I’m still having a lot of difficulty over. Lucy is 22, going on 23 in the current timeline by 2019. I’ve been thinking whether or not Lucy would even survive the snap, or how canon divergent I really wanna go given what I know about Endgame. Certain ideas have popped into my head though of either her finishing her suit during Infinity War since her Dad is off Earth and going to help fight, or even going and getting a spare suit if he has any still and saying screw it. This part of the timeline is something I’m very willing to work on in whatever way with my partners, and events depend on what we plot through.

Other potential verses

So, I have had thoughts about doing a verse where, even with the Extremis virus stabilized in her, it left an after effect, giving her heat based powers and enhanced strength. Nothing too concrete in this verse but it’s something I’ve been heavily considering.

I feel like it’d be natural to have some kind of video game based au verse for her but I’m not quite sure what it would be yet. I’ll get back to you guys on that one.

PLAYER & COACHING MOVEMENT Ex-Hartford Wolf Pack forward, Chad Wiseman, gets a league upgrade. Wiseman was named the new assistant coach for the Guelph Storm (OHL). Last month, he was named the head coach for his hometown Burlington Cougars (OJHL) a Junior A league after being a development coach last year. Former Bridgeport Sound Tiger head coach, and former New Haven Nighthawks player, Lane Lambert, was a part of the Capitals Stanley Cup winner, follows head coach Barry Trotz to the Islanders. Lambert was named associate head coach. Another former Nighthawk and player, as well as a Rangers assistant coach,  replaces him. Scott Arniel was hired to be an assistant coach for the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. He joins former QU Bobcat Reid Cashman, who was promoted to assistant coach from Hershey, on Todd Reirden’s staff. Ex-Pack Marty Wilford was elevated from the San Diego Gulls to be an assistant coach with the Anaheim Ducks. The San Jose Barracuda (AHL), the Sharks top farm team, adds two new assistant coaches. They are moving two scouts up the ladder. Long-time AHL tough guy, Jimmy Bonneau, and Michael Chiasson, the son of a former Whalers player, the late Steve Chiasson. The late rearguard’s other son, Ryan Chaisson is at SUNY-Plattsburgh (SUNYAC) a Division III program. Another AHL’er heads to Europe as Niki Petti Laval signs with Mora IK (Sweden-SHL). Ex-Pack, Francois Bouchard, last playing for GHC Bordeaux (France-FREL) and after a year off, has signed for this season with the Dundee Stars (England-EIHL). Ryan Verbeek, the nephew of former Hartford Whalers and NY Rangers great, Pat Verbeek, who's now Tampa Bay’s assistant GM and Director of Player Development, leaves Canadian college hockey Dalhousie University (AUAA) for HC Lyon (France-FREL). He canceled a deal he first signed with Cergy (France-FREL). Hayden Verbeek, Pat's his other nephew, will be with Laval (AHL) this season. According to a team press release, ex-Pack, Daniel Paille, has had his career cut short because of a concussion. He had just signed a two-year extension with Brynas IF (Sweden-SHL) before a vicious blindside hit from one-time Springfield Falcon, Thomas Larkin, of Adler Mannheim (Germany-DEL) in a Champions Hockey League tourney game. Paille, a new father, not only lost his career but most likely, also lost a chance to be on the Canadian Olympic Team in PyeonChang, South Korea because of the injury. Larkin received only a four-game suspension.  View it HERE. Shane Prince, who played four games with the Sound Tigers last year on an injury rehab, heads to HC Davos (Switzerland–LNA). Three former UCONN Huskies have changed addresses. Johnny Austin, who after the season ended up playing nine games with the Laval Rocket who he got his first pro point, has signed with the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins. Goalie Garrett Bartus, from the last UCONN (AHC) team, goes from Ft. Wayne (ECHL) to Greenville (ECHL).  Shawn Pauly, from UCONN’s first Hockey East team, goes from Kansas City (ECHL) to Coventry Blaze (England-EIHL). He canceled his HC Lyon Lions (France-FREL) deal to sign with Coventry. Ex-Pack, Joey Leach, who had five games with the Wolf Pack last season, re-signs with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) for this season. Jared Fiegl is another NCAA grad signing a pro deal going from Cornell University (ECACHL) to Orlando (ECHL). That makes 171 Division I players that have signed pro deals in North America and 225 total players have signed North America and Europe. The US Hockey Hall of Fame has released its Class of 2018. Heading the list is the long-time University of Michigan head coach and a former NHL player, George “Red” Berenson. He coached 33 years with 22 consecutive NCAA appearances and an overall record of 848-426-92. He coached 1,366 games and won NCAA titles in 1996, and in 1998. In the old CCHA conference, the Wolverines finished first and second 20 of 23 years of the conference's history. Berenson played 987 NHL games, primarily with the St. Louis Blues. He was with Montreal early in his career before spending 49 games with the Rangers in the mid-1960’s before being traded to the Blues. Berenson then spent five years with Detroit and finished out his career with St. Louis his last four years. Minnesotan, Natalie Darwitz, won three Olympic medals (two silvers and a bronze) and was the youngest woman selected to play with the national team at age 15. She holds the NCAA women’s regular season scoring record at 114 points and is presently the coach at Hamline University in Minnesota in the Division III MIAC conference. David Poile has worked for USA hockey for over 30 years in various capacities. He is the current GM of Nashville Predators and is the longest-serving GM in the NHL with 36 consecutive years. Jack Drury, the son of Ted Drury, an ex-Whaler, and the nephew of Chris Drury, the Wolf Pack GM and Assistant GM with the Rangers, completed a two-on-one break. Like his uncle did on many occasions, he snapped a shot high over the glove hand of Finnish goalie, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, with 7:19 to go in regulation. The goal would turn out to be the game-winner in a 2-1 US victory. Darien’s Spencer Knight (Avon Old Farm’s) had a strong performance in the game’s second half with nine saves for the red, white and blue. In Sunday’s wild 6-5 loss to Canada, QU's Keith Petruzzelli had a tough afternoon in Kamloops, BC. He gave up five goals on 20 shots and was pulled for Cayden Primeau. Drury set up Paul Cotter for a goal with 2:35 left in regulation to draw the US closer to 6-5. Primeau earned a win for the US in the teams first game a 5-4 OT win over Sweden. This weekend, the Ivan Hlinka-Wayne Gretzky Cup will be played in Red Deer, AB, and Edmonton, AB. It will be on the NHL Network. The semifinals are on Friday. Saturday is the bronze medal game and the Gold Medal Game on Sunday at 5:00 pm EST. The US team video coach is the current and long-time Wolf Pack assistant GM Pat Boller (Danbury). Canada’s goaltending consultant is all-time Wolf Pack great, Jason LaBarbera. Canada won its opener 10-0 over Switzerland. The US blanked the Czech Republic 6-0. The Czech goalie was Nick Malik, the youngest son of former Whaler, Ranger, and Beast of New Haven defenseman, Marek Malik. He gave up the first four goals on 25 shots before being pulled. With little time for a true search for a new assistant coach to replace the recently departed Brendan Buckley (Boston College), UConn did the next best thing. They went in-house to round out head coach Mike Cavanaugh’s coaching staff for the season. The Huskies promoted Joe Pereira (West Haven/South Kent Prep) to associate head coach and hired Tyler Helton as an assistant coach and Joe Ferriss as a graduate assistant to work under Cavanaugh. Pereira has been a part of Cavanaugh’s staff since his first season. He begins his sixth year on the bench this fall. He has played a significant role in the program’s recruiting efforts during his tenure with the Huskies. Helton has been a part of the program since his freshman year in Storrs in 2012. He begins his first season as a full-time assistant coach in 2018-19. He will assist the program working with the Husky defensemen, special teams and assisting with all aspects of recruiting. Helton initially joined Cavanaugh’s staff in the fall of 2013 and has worked with the program as a student assistant and graduate manager over the past five seasons. Ferriss returns to his alma mater for his first collegiate coaching job. He will assist the program with the video breakdown of games and practices, developing scouting reports, and practice plans. Ferriss graduated from UCONN in 2016 with a degree in exercise science after playing 120 games during his four-year career on the ice for the Huskies. One-time Quinnipiac University (ECACHL) assistant coach, and CT Nighthawks (EHL) head coach, Graham Johnson, is named head coach at Milwaukee's School of Engineering (WIAC), a Wisconsin-based Division III program. RIP to the great Stan Mikita who spent his entire NHL career in Chicago. Mikita is the only player in NHL history to achieve the trophy hat-trick consisting of the Art Ross Trophy (Scoring), Hart Trophy (MVP) and Lady Byng Trophy (sportsmanship). He achieved that not once, but twice and not just twice but in back to back years, 1966-1968. That's a feat that neither Gretzky, Lemieux, or Orr ever accomplished. He won four NHL scoring titles as part of the Original Six. In 1,394 games, Mikita tallied 1,467 points and is the all-time leading scorer in Chicago BlackHawks history. Mikita's earning The Lady Byng trophy was amazing. Early in his career, he was known to have a hair-trigger temper and was a willing and able fighter despite being just 5’9. He toned down his play and never again crossed the 100-minute mark after his sixth season. Mikita escaped from then communist Czechoslovakia. He was born in Sokolce in what is now the Slovak Republic. He arrived in Canada and had a great junior career in St. Catharines winning the league scoring title. Later, when his hockey career began, Mikita settled into Chicago.  In the Windy City, Mikita became an icon along with Bobby Hull in the 1960’s. Mikita also created the first deaf and hearing impaired hockey academy in North America. It would help youngsters with those disabilities to learn to develop their hockey and socialization skills. WJC SCHEDULE RELEASED At the WJC tournament in Vancouver, and Victoria, BC December 26th-January 5th,  it will not feature a preliminary round, USA-Canada game on New Year’s Eve. Rather it will be against Russia. The only time the two North American countries can meet is in the medal round games. The official schedule because of the West Coast time difference will mean some holiday late nights and DVR recording. The US preliminary game schedule is; Dec. 26 vs. Slovakia 6:30 pm Dec. 28 vs. Kazakhstan 10:30 pm Dec, 29 vs. Sweden 10:30 pm Dec. 31 vs. Finland 10:30 pm The elimination and medal round games start January 2nd. All USA games will be shown on the NHL Network as they pick up the feed from TSN in Canada.
