cheryl gets a new superpower: the gift of flight. she uses it to hover a foot or so off the ground wherever she goes so that no matter who she speaks to, she's always just a little bit taller than them. she enjoys the feeling of everyone constantly having to tilt their heads up to look her in the eye. after she gleefully informs reggie that he might want to consider investing in some dandruff shampoo, a town-wide hat shortage sweeps riverdale. the combination of cheryl's Average Floating Height (AFH) and passion for acidic bon mots has left riverdale's populace terrified of and vulnerable to scalp-based insults. jughead digs out his backup beanie. veronica takes to wearing chic head scarves. betty wears her old wig again. no one feels safe. things come to a head when archie is forced to wear a baseball cap during his evening jog. in covering up his hair he negates the one built-in reflective surface he relies on to not get hit by cars in the dark. a small child cycles past him, not noticing he's there, and accidentally clips him in the ankle. it really hurts. he could have fallen and scraped his knee, or worse; his hands, which he uses for punching. when veronica finds out about archie's near-death experience the next day she decides that enough is enough. she waits for cheryl to initiate a conversation with her in public and after a few moments frowns, seemingly concerned. "what is it, vee? have i confused you? why does that puzzled brow mar your beautiful countenance so?" cheryl asks sweetly (condescendingly) from roughly a foot above veronica. "cheryl," veronica says in a low voice (though not low enough for those around them not to overhear) "i can see right up your nose, and..." (here she pauses for dramatic effect. everyone in the immediate vicinity leans in closer) "...you have a booger." cheryl flees the scene, escaping the sound of uproarious laughter around her. the next time the gang sees her, she's walking on her own two feet. she declares it's because she's missed the sounds of her high heels clicking on the marble floors of thornhill but people know the truth. the town is free, once again, to walk around with their heads hatless and unconstrained. the next time archie goes for a run at night, a passing car with its highbeams on catches archie's hair at such an angle that it bounces back onto the car's windshield and momentarily blinds the driver, causing a small accident. archie doesn't notice though, because he has his headphones in, listening to a podcast episode about the history of Well Water Hysteria.

LMFAO most of it can be found here or here but like long story short a little ginger worm named Kevin DeBruyne opened his mouth to say uneccessary shit in public and everyone hates him and they're basically all beefing because they're ALL bad at football and they'd rather blame each other than be better at football.

The FUN drama is that KDB and Courtois (friend of our very own Lando Norris) have had a longstanding beef because like way back in 2014 Courtois and KDB's then-girlfriend were bumping and grinding (fucking) (I believe Courtois was also married at some point in this and also cheated on his baby mama). Also a week ago Courtois posted this hilarious pic + caption where LUKAKU (the most unlikeliest of candidates) is giving them a pep talk before the match and that little ginger toddler can't be fucked to put his arms around his teammates OR bend down and his "Together" caption really made me laugh.

i think another point of frustration is the fact that this feels like groundhog’s day. a couple months back the ressie fandom imploded because a jill writer was so staunch about using a white face claim when jill has been said by capcom to be half-japanese. the amount of borderline to blatant racist shit that was spewed around that, from things like “well it was just a marketing ploy” and “there’s nothing in canon that blatantly states that she’s japanese” was extremely hurtful to hear.

and frankly, does there have to be anything blatant in canon stating she’s half japanese?

like, as someone who’s a quarter mexican, i’mma keep it a buck with you; i don’t look it. i’m as pasty as glue. i burn bright red in the sun. but it doesn’t change the fact that i’m hispanic, i come from a hispanic background, i have hispanic cultural experiences. am i only hispanic if i’m walking around in a sombrero waving maracas? am i only hispanic if i can speak spanish? of course not. that’s insulting and silly.

poc are severely under-represented in media so i really don’t see the problem with capcom, a japanese company, saying “yeah, this character in our horror game is japanese” and then not feeling the need to throw it in your face every five seconds. it’s also not really something you can be canon divergent about. racebending a canonly character of color to be white sounds fucking insane, right? because it is. there’s already so much white representation in media. why take away from poc rep when it’s lacking?

it’s not always the same with lgbt rep, but it’s pretty similar. whether we intend to or not, whether we want to or not, the default has been straight for.... well, forever, basically. so rpers, fanfic writers, you name it, will take characters who are assumed to be straight and portray them as bi, as gay, they’ll headcanon presumably cis characters as trans or nonbinary; we as a community are lacking in representation so we strive to create it however we can, and the easiest ways of doing that are with already established canon characters.

BHVR’s announcement that david king is canonly gay is similar to a television show writing in a storyline about a main character being gay a few seasons in. i use that example since BHVR announced last year they were creating what is essentially a diversity and inclusion team to better incorporate representation into their game. they also worked with gaymerx, a nonprofit that supports LGBT gamers and developers, on incorporating non-het sexuality into the game, currently in an already established character that people are familiar with. they’ve also announced that david’s tome lore is going to heavily tie in with this and feature more development on him being a gay man.

from my perspective, as a lesbian, i think BHVR is handling this responsibly. i don’t think it’s forced representation when you look at all the work they’ve been talking about doing on this for a year, and there’s the high likelihood that they will introduce new characters that are established as LGBT into the game in the future.

the reason why it’s harmful to peel back on this representation, which they are going to follow through with, is because gay people get so little of it, especially in characters that aren’t seen as the stereotype (i.e. effeminate, sassy). and to take a character that the creators have come out and said is gay and headcanon them as bisexual.... that’s taking away a core piece of them and a core life experience, considering that, whether we want to accept it or not, gay people and bisexual people face different kinds of oppression, and bisexual people do have privilege over gay people. it’s also extremely privileged to deny gay representation when there’s so little of it and act like denying it isn’t harmful, when it is. 

it’s one thing to headcanon a character that is in the majority with their race (i.e. white) or sexuality (i.e. straight) as something divergent from canon. but to headcanon a character that the original creators have come out and stated are gay as anything but is erasure, no matter how you slice it, and it’s inherently harmful.

And before I get to that... A LOT happened since my last life update... and you should get caught up on that before the dumping commences.

To Recap:

- Friend died March 2021. Made me reevaluate life and work was turning toxic again. Finally decided to jump ship.

- New job/apartment/city in May. We moved across the state because this was a dream job. Lot of hiccups and difficulties starting out - like getting my car booted because my landlord was horrible.

- Realized I had not one but TWO EDs that I developed from my old job as coping mechanisms. Yikes on bikes. So I've been recovering from that and it's not fucking fun especially since my body has changed while in recovery.

- Beginning of 2022, my dad was in and out of the hospital. He ended up passing in April from heart attack complications. And he also passed on my friend's birthday. Things suck and I'm not ok and I'm fighting to get back to ok as a baseline.

- My car was rear-ended in June. That was a hot mess to sort through but thankfully it was not totaled and I was not hurt. It took like 2 months to get it back though.

- Oh and I realized that through counseling and TikTok that I should've been in therapy since the age of 10, dealt with an absent father, and was emotionally neglected 💃🏼

Honestly, all I want for 2023 is a quiet and calm year. I'm done with this drama and trauma 😅

Prince Rainier III was seriously considering changing succession laws so Caroline would be the head of the family and Monaco as he found Albert to be weak. Albert is said to be the "despised member of the clan" who would stutter while speaking to his father. Rainier even looked into what this would mean to the Grimaldi name since Andrea - at the time 17 - obviously carries his father's name (Casiraghi) and not his mother's (Grimaldi). Rainier told the ones carrying the investigation that this was done in case Albert died.

the funds from Albert's state endowment and his private funds would be mixed all the time.

Albert would say yes to essentially everything his family asked for, including a $30 million apartment for Stephanie

Palmero (the accountant) would frequently buy things for the family to keep "their privacy". He bought Charlene's engagement ring and multiple properties for the Grimaldi's in France. He would pay property taxes for those properties and have the family pay him back.

Caroline and Stephanie would frequently make use of and sell family property (Rainier's cars, family jewelry and art, etc) without letting him know, even though they technically belonged to Albert.

Caroline is in charge of the family's castle in Marchais, which he had an issue with as she would always go off budget.

he makes a note to pay attention to Pierre Casiraghi as he is very ambitious and his dealings in real estate could create problems (spoiler alert: it did)

the allowance that Charlene, Caroline and Stephanie receive increases constantly, which worried Palmero. As of late, they were: 1,5 million euros for Charlene, 900.000 for Caroline and 800.000 for Stephanie yearly. This follows the family hierarchy.

 Jazmin Grace receives 86,000 dollars per quarter. In February 2010, Palmero had to spend $5,000 “extra for her birthday”. Albert also bought her a $3 million apartment in New York City.

Albert spends almost a million a year funding Nicole Coste's (the mother of Albert's second illegimate child) fashion business. It's all in Alexandre Coste's name as Nicole fears that Charlene might create issues when Albert dies.

Palmero made sure to change Monaco's regency laws so in case something happens to Albert while Jacques is underage Charlene won't be regent. Instead, the principality will be ruled by a regency council.

Albert has a secret apartment in Monaco, bought by one of Palmero's secret companies. He also got rid of problematic photographs of Albert (hinted at blackmail).

there was a whole system for hiding sums used on "special missions". They were labeled DS (for special destinations) and with time were used to pay for an informal intelligence unit that operated within the police force of the principality. They'd collect information on those close to the family and even on politians of the principality. He would also pay journalists to paint a good picture of Monaco while Hollande was president in France and was constantly criticizing tax-havens.

the DS accounts would be used to hide over-budget situations, including budget for the children's nannies and the budget for the wedding.

they were terrified of the Panama papers, as a lot of money laundering funds go through Monaco and the family had accounts on Panamanian banks.

a link between a Russian billionaire and the Monegasque Minister of Justice was revealed in 2017 and the Minister was forced to resign. An investigation was launched by a French judge and there was fears that the palace would be involved: jurisdictional immunity was granted to members of the sovereign family by order. There was rumours that the French judge wanted to hear the Prince as a witness......he was told to leave the principality. He was accused of having, through his “behavior perceived as authoritarian and vexatious”, “endangered the proper functioning of the criminal justice system”.

the real estate market is a big point of collision here and a big focus of article 3. Nothing too interesting to report - Palmero says he tried mingling in the market to break down the monopoly of real estate owners in Monaco (centered around a bestie of the Casiraghi brothers) while Albert claims Palmero had close ties with some of the developers and tried mingling with things that were of interest of the government in order to make money. The real estate issue was what eventually led Palmero to be fired. Palmero and a former laywer of Albert who was his childhood bestfriend and is also now a persona non grata claims that Albert is now fully under the influence of the bestie of the Casiraghi brothers who now controls the real estate in Monaco.

Palmaro is STILL paying property tax on properties he bought for the family!! crazy!!

Palmero detailed a number of off-shore accounts that hold about 250 million euros of the family's fortune including a company created specifically for Charlotte Casiraghi. He passed on the information from that account to Albert's new accountant at a monitored meeting.

Albert's explanation is lowkey....pathetic. He claims he told Palmero to move all of his family's assets from off-shore accounts to Monaco but Palmero never did it and that was that. He claims he was never able to obtain a precise statement on the family assets due to Palmero's secrecy and Albert just trusted him. He claims Palmero would act in his name and refuse to delay his decisions.
