the librarians "and the fatal separation" (s3e9) watch through:
nice to see jacob fighting someone - the actor’s fight scenes in leverage are always so fun.
oh man, flynn’s (life-representing) candle looks a little close to the end. however, i assume the candles/library can’t be a perfectly accurate representation of when the person is gonna die because otherwise you could do whatever you want until your candle is low and be certain you’re gonna survive. also it’s fun to see baird’s huge candle display & ezekiels literally being a birthday cake candle lol.
i find it interesting that cassandra can have magical powers that kind of come from nowhere. correct me if i’m wrong but afaik, so far, there’s no artifacts or spells or anything considered responsible for her magical gift. since magics returned to the world, it could kinda spontaneously show up, right? but that means other people could probably gain that kind of innate magic, huh?
hmm baird, care to elaborate on that mentor of yours?
ezekiel’s known as the smartest librarian & cassandras all offended lol.
charlene!!!!!! she’s just been found and she’s immediately chastising flynn for turning up and looking for her lmaooo
baird is a sleeper agent? EXPLAIN.
"you took a bullet for me. i’ll never forget that, let alone repay it". i know the general/baird’s mentor means that shes always indebted to baird because no favour or amount of money is equal to what baird did for her, but the way she says it sounds like she wouldn’t do the same for baird. like she wouldnt repay it by catching a bullet for baird even if she had the chance.
thinking about charlene’s budget and like. where DO they get their funding from. i don’t doubt that they’d get funding, im sure keeping certain artefacts out of the hands of the general public (or those who’d use them for a bad cause) is in the interests of many people/organisations with money. but their allies are fairly few & far between so id like to know specifically. and i guess theoretically they could have some kind of money source artefact, like the fairytale golden goose running around one of the rooms in the library, but it can’t be infinite because then they wouldn’t have to budget. unless they’re just really strict about not affecting the wider economy.
whatever charlene told baird wasn’t a comfort but something that really shocked her!! what was it??

GET THEM OBSESSED WITH YOU
Tumblr media
My energy is magnetic
I am irresistible irreplaceable and unforgettable. My energy and personality are addicting. It's a privilege to experience my presence.
I am on the highest pedestal. They worship the ground I walk on because I am a Goddess. I always get treated like a royalty because I am a QUEEN.
I have the body, the appearance, the brains, and everything. I am ME, and that's my superpower.
I am so seductive. They can never get enough of me. They are always craving my love and validation. I am their source of inspiration and motivation.
I shine brighter than the world's shinest gemstones. My presence lights up any room I enter to.
I am worthy of all the success, love, and abundance that this universe has to offer.
I believe in myself because I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. My positive energy radiates outwards, inspiring others and becoming a magnet for endless blessings into my life.
I AM UNSTOPPABLE AND THE WORLD IS UNDER MY FEET.

Renée Minkowski loves Organised Fun, whereas Doug Eiffel thinks Organisation and Fun are inherently incompatible. Eiffel can get hours of enjoyment out of discussing 'What are your Top Five ____?' questions with Hera, but if you asked him the same questions and told him it was a team icebreaker activity, he'd jump out of a window. In contrast, the best way to get Minkowski to engage with pointless questions like those would be to include the discussion on a precisely timetabled schedule of activities. I don't think Eiffel would have voluntarily got involved with Funzo because he would have taken one look at the size of the instruction booklet and decided that maybe he did think they should follow Pryce and Carter Tip 792 after all. I think Minkowski sees a robust instruction booklet on a game as a sign that she's in for a good time. Minkowski believes any day of leisure is improved by an itinerary. Eiffel can't even contemplate following a schedule in his work hours, let alone his downtime.

I have read Fellowship of the Ring more times than I have cared to keep count and every time I read Boromir’s, well, possession for lack of a better word, I have read it in fear, in discomfort, in horror, indifferently.
This was, I think, the first time I read it in pity. I looked at all the plans Boromir was making, how he would save his beloved city, how obstinate he was in his belief that the men of Minas Tirith would not be corrupted when wielding the Ring against Sauron —and I felt sad. He’s waving his hands and hollering and part of him is desperate just for the Ring, of course he is, he’s been traveling beside it with no hope for months, but he’s also desperate for hope. He’s desperate for a chance to save his people, save his brother, save his city.
Moreover, every time he calls out the Elves or the Wizards, you have to remember that he doesn’t know them. All he knows is that he traveled almost a full year to get their advice and they send him on, in his eyes, a hopeless venture. The one hope they give him is Aragorn, who promises to return and help save Minas Tirith with him, but even that all changes once Gandalf dies. They come to Lothlorien and of course it’s a welcome break, but they cannot, or maybe in Boromir’s eyes will not, help his people. And once they leave, Aragorn assumes his role as leader of the Fellowship in Gandalf’s stead more permanently and suddenly even that one, brief, uncertain hope of his is gone. Aragorn will follow Frodo. And it’s almost certain that Frodo will not go to Minas Tirith.
So is it any wonder, really, that tired, desperate, hopeless Boromir, out of his realm, out of his depth, already hanging by a thread when he joins the Fellowship and having been gnawed on by the Ring for months upon months afterwards, finally snaps once it’s clear that he will have to return home empty-handed and almost certain that somewhere far away Sauron is capturing the Ring and killing the companions that he had bonded with? Of course part of the Ring is making him lust for power, but it’s also his only “reliable” (in his mind) source of hope left to save his city.
And so I read Boromir’s (intelligent and thought out, mind you) raving and I don’t feel scared for Frodo, not after reading it so many times and knowing what ultimately happens, but sorrow for Boromir.

Like I get why it was the Inner Soul and it helped later of course. But kinda thought it would be cool if the tattoo came with a magical on command weapon ya know. I kept waiting for it did I miss it?
Am I the only one who thought Jacob Stone was gonna get a magical bow staff after the events of And The Fatal Separation? Just me? Okay.

I think Linda Muir costume designer for Nosferatu remake also said in one interview that Thomas is driven to wealth and it’s his downfall. For whatever reason somehow it is now character flaw that doomed him. Making money is bad now.
how dare the poor person want financial stability!
like, okay. I still think it would be a very classist and uncomfortable decision if the final film had been more like the 2016 draft where Ellen and Orlok did not have a pre-existing bond, and so Thomas going there is more of the first domino. but if they had, these statements would at least make more sense. but the moment Eggers decided to change it so that Ellen and Orlok already knew each other and he already staked a claim over her, that makes Thomas' "wealth motivation" moot.
ORLOK WOULD COME THERE NO MATTER WHAT.
honestly, Thomas doesn't even seem that money-driven in the film. he seems concerned about being in debt, about being of a much lower class, of how fragile his and Ellen's current financial status is.
(especially if you compare him to the incredibly unsubtle Thomas in 2023 who was worse than the 2016 Thomas.)
I find it incredibly uncomfortable that Thomas is the poorest/lowest class character - and his great sin and big character flaw is greed, with the filmmakers acting like his character arc is learning money cannot save him/them. especially considering the historical context of class in Germany/Prussia at the time.
(I would argue that in the film we get, that actually isn't the crux of his character arc, just a part of it. like I said, the actual desire for wealth is rather downplayed compared to the 2016 script and the 2023 remake. also I know that it isn't simply that Thomas wants financial security but that he wants to be wealthy like Friedrich but that is less apparent/important in the film than it is in the 2016 script. and still, again, it feels...uncomfortable, in the historical context and in a modern context.)

Albert's Siblings !!! Finally !! Their names and colours may change at suggestion but, I'm pretty happy with the designs ! I'll give their names and ages, then go into more detail under the cut ! This will be long. (They're drawn in order of age)
Albert (sometimes called Bertie or Al) 33
Beatrice (often called Bea) 33
Catherine (rarely called Cath) 30
Daniel (rarely called Dan) 29
Edward (often called Ed or Eddie) 22
Frederick (often called Fred or Freddie) 22
Georgina (often called Georgie) 11
Yes, they are named Alphabetically I'm not coming up with that many pun names that work with Harebrayne.
As a quick bit of background information, Harebrayne senior (their father) owns either a metal refinery or a company that produces engines/some other type of machinery. The family has money, they're actually quite well off, considering Albert was able to attend the same uni as Barok, someone with a noble family and no shortage of money. However Hare snr is not a good father and I'm hoping to actually write a fic pertaining to this family, where Hare snr gets murdered so I don't want to go too in depth.
Albert and Bea are non identical twins but look very similar, enough that they could pass for each other even now. Neither of them like this fact. They both moved to Germany after Albert graduated, Albert because he had a job offer there and Bea because her fiancé (now husband) is German and both because they kinda got disowned by their father. This is also why Albert is dirt poor, his father forbids any of his children that still live with him from supporting or even writing to Albert or Bea, because of this Georgie has never actually met either of them, being 1 when they moved to Germany.
Bea is a florist, her husband is a jeweller (His name is Otto Edelstein, again could change at suggestion) and she has two children of her own, Klara and Karly. They're also twins, it's a pretty common occurrence in their family. Klara and Karly are 8/9 ish years old (The average age for first having children was about 23) Bea herself is very passionate, like Albert, but unlike him she's more likely to blame the people responsible for harm, rather than herself. This does, unfortunately mean that she can get quite snippy with people.
Catherine! She saw what happened to Bea and Albert and very quickly got out of her father's house by getting married. Specifically to one Lord Corrin Ander (also an oc, the pun is coriander). However they are actually in a lavender marriage, and Cath is in a relationship with Corrin's sister, Lavinia (Lav Ander, the pun is lavender). Corrin being a Lord may change, it's mostly just so that he can operate in roughly the same social circles as Barok and be very surprised when his brother-in-law's good friend turns out to Lord Barok van Zieks. Cath is very good persuasion and can talk her way out of any situation. Dressing up is her favourite pastime and she loves holding costume parties/masquerade balls. She will put you in a pretty outfit too, there is no escape. She's also considered the "pretty one" of her siblings and is their parent's favourite.
Daniel! He is currently second in command at his father's company and due to inherit once Hare snr kicks the bucket. He's quite serious and, if he were animated, would be nowhere near as expressive as his siblings. He is very fond and protective of Georgie. His hair is usually cut short enough to the point where no curls are visible but he has been working a lot lately and is very tired, so leave him alone, please and thank you. (His brooch/pin is a golden Hare)
Edward is the stereoscope juror. He looked really similar to Albert and his general mannerisms made me think "yeah these two are related" so there he is. He works as a clerk at his Father's company and likes stereoscopes. He was 11 when Albert left and if there wasn't the ban on writing to the older twins I can guarantee he and Albert would be besties.
Fredrick is a part-time journalist, part-time mail sorter and writer of poems (he mostly does the poems in his free time). In comparison to his brothers he's more interested in the arts then the sciences. As such he gets on really well with Georgie who is also very arty. He's got a flare for the dramatic and often butts heads with Daniel because of it.
Georgina! The baby! Not really, though. She tries to be more mature than she is, due to the fact her siblings are so much older than her. (The closest in age are 10 years older and her eldest siblings are old enough to be her parents, with the average age of having a first child being 23) She really likes books and the one she's carrying is a very big scrapbook that she'll treat almost like a dairy, trying to put something in there everyday. She's very nervous if not talking about stories or something else that interests her and is actually kinda scared of Albert and Bea because she's never known them and they're so much older than her. She will get on alright with Klara and Karly though, getting to be the older sibling for once greatly boosts her confidence.
