Little Guy Showdown Part II
I had a lot of fun with the first round of polls, so I’ve decided to make the Little Guy Showdown a regular thing!
Final Matchup stars April 30th!!
Rules and Regulations:
1. Previous winners (Kirby from Kirby and Slugcat from Rain World) cannot participate as they’ve already had their time to shine. All previous contenders who have not won, on the other hand, are fair game.
2. The gender neutral version of guy is being used here, so female and non-binary characters who you think fit the little guy mold can be submitted!
3. Please be civil! This is meant to be fun and I don’t want things to turn sour over fictional characters.
Submissions have ended! Thank you to everyone who submitted :)
All matchups are listed below the cut.

Before anything else, I have to take a moment to celebrate the reveal of the remaining two tracks. Heck yeah!!
Since Viney is wearing a dark blue outfit in her flashback, I’m guessing that the “healing” track is the dark blue one. Wow, I was way off on that one! With this new knowledge, I imagine that the strips of fabric shown in the coven’s symbol and the banner earlier in this episode are actually bandages. That’s a neat little detail! And it definitely makes sense that healing would be considered an important enough ability to be the focus of one of the main 9 covens. I was sort of wondering how healing magic might factor into all this, and now I know.
Meanwhile, I’d hazard a guess that the “beast keeping” track is probably the orange one, given what’s been shown about it up until now. It seems the pig creatures that represent that particular coven aren’t the only beasts that can be kept by witches in this track, which leaves me wondering how many other beasts there are...
And now, onto the real focus of this bit!
I think it’s interesting that each of these magic combinations are reflected by Luz and her friends in some way. While Willow wasn’t exactly happy in the abomination track, she’s been in both the abomination and plant magic tracks, and Luz herself just tried to use oracle magic while in the potions track. Plus, the two classes she mentioned to Principal Bump earlier were most likely from the beast keeping and healing tracks respectively.
That aside, this sheds quite a bit of light on what Principal Bump said previously. “No witch” studies more than one track not because it’s impossible, but because no witch is allowed to. Students are punished for innovation (though to be fair these guys did make a bit of a mess in the process) and for thinking outside of the neat little boxes that each track pushes them into.
It’s a natural extension of the coven system; if students aren’t restricted to a single track from the beginning, they might not take as easily to being restricted to a single coven. But those who are different and those who want to do things differently will always find a way to get around the rules, regardless of how strictly they’re enforced.

Actual exchange between a police officer and a woman:
Police: Looks like you're having a little car trouble.

Police: So what happened?
Woman: I dunno.

Woman: Nowell, I had a little accident, but, we're figuring it out. We're gon-
Police: Who're you talking to?
Woman: Triple A. I live in the neighborhood. We're good. We're all good here.
Police: No . . . it's not good.
Woman: No, it's good. Because I'm not operating the vehicle, I'm not driving the vehicle. We're all good. (Smiles at him)
Police: Uh, you are operating the vehicle, ma'am.
Woman: No I'm not.
Police: You drove into a house.
Woman: No I didn't.
Police: You did . . . actually. You did. Um, so . . .
