alright, here's my hot take on the Sasha-Raz dynamic: i think Raz represents a wish fulfilment self-insert figure for Sasha just as much as Sasha does for Raz.

Raz wanting to be like Sasha and seeing him as an aspirational future self is self-explanatory, right. Sasha is his hero from his favourite comic books, he even dresses up like the guy – it’s cute! there’s a fun hero worship angle there. but i think there’s also an aspect of it going the other way: Sasha sees Raz as an idealised past self. he's an excuse for Sasha to recast his own troubled childhood in a more flattering light, to imagine a version of himself who was more confident, more capable, more driven; and to explore the fantasy of that version of himself getting support and training and recognition, instead of the way things really played out.

here's something. when you use clairvoyance on Sasha, he sees Raz as a younger version of himself:

not as his younger self – specifically, a miniature version of his current self. there's a difference.

here's something else: from what we see in the memory vaults, I don't think younger Sasha was actually like Raz at all.

this part is heavier on extrapolation, because all we see of younger Sasha is a single memory vault; but i think the expressions and the body language tell a clear story here. the boy we see in these vaults is shy, uncertain, estranged, lonely. the distance between him and his father is palpable, physical and emotional. 

think about the things that Sasha says to Raz: your talents will always set you apart. sometimes, isolation is a good thing. those are very weird things to say to a kid as “advice”, and they’re very revealing about Sasha’s own mindset! i think it’s very easy to read Sasha as someone who had a very troubled, lonely childhood, and then sought to retroactively redefine and romanticise it. it wasn’t grief that stopped him and his father from ever forming a meaningful bond; it was just his talents, his father didn’t understand. if he was lonely and isolated growing up, well, maybe that was a good thing. just look at where he is now!

and i think Raz serves as a vessel for Sasha to project all of that onto. because their experiences aren’t that similar, not really. Sasha left home because he was unable to connect with his father; Raz ran away because his family didn’t understand or support his gifts. Sasha pushed things too far with his powers, and was shocked and unsettled by what he saw; Raz pushed things too far with his powers, and was rewarded for it. Sasha left home uncertain and afraid; Raz left home on a mission. the two stories aren’t the same, but they rhyme – you can draw parallels, if you squint, if you’re willing to change a few details here and there. and one of these stories is much more alluring, more satisfying, more compelling than the other. 

when Sasha says to Raz in the shooting gallery, “I would have done the exact same thing at your age” – sorry, but i absolutely do not buy it. younger Sasha was meek and conflict-averse, he faced one single unexpected consequence and immediately noped out. i think he absolutely would not have done the same thing. but i bet Sasha wants to think that he would have, y’know? i bet he wants to see himself in this boy, who’s driven and confident and focused and such an eager student – who has so much promise, and is in an environment where that can be recognised and rewarded and nurtured. Raz isn’t just a promising student, to Sasha – he’s also an opportunity to live out that what if, to explore the wish fulfilment of his own younger self getting that kind of recognition and support, instead of being left, lonely and alone, to fend for himself. 

one final thing: one of the big reasons i really like this reading is that i feel like it makes the scene where Sasha scolds Raz for messing with Hollis’ mind way more interesting: [screenshots from this upload of the game's cutscenes]

i’m not the first to point out that this feels a little hypocritical coming from Sasha, especially when you consider that this is basically the exact same thing he encouraged Raz to do in his own mind! and besides that, you could argue that it isn’t even Sasha’s place to hand out this lecture – Hollis was the one whose mind was actually messed with, and her and Raz have already hashed things out.  but if you think about Sasha as projecting himself onto Raz, then i think there’s more depth here. this isn’t just Sasha being upset because his protégé did something bad – he’s shaken because Raz did something unexpected. suddenly, Raz has broken away from the model that Sasha had built up in his mind, of the perfect, confident young agent that Sasha could easily see himself in. now he’s having to realise that Raz isn’t perfect – and maybe he isn’t just like Sasha, either.

More designs and headcanons for the SUGARCOATED AU!

Similar to Eternal Sugar's post (<- in which you can find a very small breakdown of her outfit design and a few headcanons) Below the cut is a few design details I made for Shmilk (BM) and Mysty (WPF) and a few more ideas for how this crossover AU will go!

The cut may not appear for others so I guess if you're one of them you can try to maybe scroll down really fast if you haven't yet played or watched a playthrough or summary of the game OMORI and don't wanna get spoiled of the game's horrors which for me, is one of its best parts! I would know cuz it took me a week to recover :D. 💯 percent would recommend if you just love to put yourself in undescribable emotional pain ^^💕.

But big chunky trigger warning for those who are sensitive to things like depictions of depression, anxiety, suicide, flashing lights and a bunch of other stuff!— it's pretty expected from a psychological horror game, but please don't be pressured to play or watch it!

Added Eternal Sugar's design thingy along since I wanted to change her weapon. Her U-shaped harp matched her angel form more, so I replaced it with the harp from her legendary costume! Suits her even better since both designs are more fairy like.

Anyways NOTES and HEADCANONS:

Really wanna lean in to the way how Sugar seems to slightly not belong with the rest like how Omori is with his monotone expression and colors. I mentioned before in her own design post how she's the only character in some sort of sleep ware, a few other differences I added here is that shes the only one based on her beast form and also the only one named after it, everyone else's design look more, and are named, like their virtues.

Each of them have fantasy-adventure-group-roles! Blueberry Milk being the wizard or mage and Pastry Flour being the healer. Not sure about everyone else's tho.

I really like the idea of Blueberry, being the "Basil" of this AU and giving everyone insects to represent them!! Mentioned how this has definitely been done before (Omoriposa AU by madnopost :D!) But it just suits so well especially since their beta designs are already based on insects so I'm kinda thinking of really adding it

And on the topic of being "Basil", I hc before that Bspice would be the sporty but actually artsy type— which would be a really fun characteristic to give to him but I feel like giving it to Shmilk instead. He would make doodles of their times together to parallel with the way Sunny remembered the truth through Basil's photographs

And speaking of hobbies, in the real world, Sugar loves to bake! Which is why everyone is named after some sort of ingredient (minus Elder Faerie?) and why her happyspace is almost filled to the brim with desserts and sweets. Keyword 'almost' as it seems that if things are not going so well eyes, teeth, and organs seem to be growing more apparent here and there (just like in Sugar's actual garden in game). Also her weapon irl is a cake slicer.

Other than that, Shmilk likes to read and with the new head canon, draw, and is one of those too-smart-kids-for-their-age, meanwhile Mystic loves to embroider and crochet in her free time! Hence why, other than Shmilk's insect assigning, in Sugar's imaginary happyspace she's portrayed as a spider.

Jin Livestream #1: My Little Brother, Songs and Guitars

Translation of the first livestream without Inpine from Jin’s official YouTube channel. This one is not from their radio segment, just a normal livestream. The radio has been on hiatus for a year now and all livestreams that have come after the fifth radio episode are also just normal ones. Still, they are equally as heavy on Jin lore as the Jinpine radio.

The stream starts out with Jin testing as usual and not knowing whether it has started or not. There’s an icon and the words “guest: tet.” on the bottom right of the screen. Jin says his little brother has come over as a guest and that the two of them might play the guitar and sing together, but he can’t confirm it just yet. He calls the guest “Jin Brother” in English.

So Jin has a little brother. Did anyone else not know about him until this livestream happened? We all knew he had a sister, but no mention of his brother was ever made till this point. And then suddenly the guy is live. Feels like the youngest of the Jonas Brothers all over again, lol.

When the brother greets the audience, Jin says it’s weird to hear his voice in one of his livestreams. The brother introduces himself as “Teto” (tet), which is not a nickname but his actual artist name. Jin explains that they’re far apart in age and that tet is the youngest child. He casually drops the bomb on the fact that he has lots of siblings, but can’t yet reveal how many.

The audience says their voices are alike and Jin laughs, not very happy about it. His brother is nervous, admitting that he’s too scared to read the comments. Jin decides to break the ice by talking about their childhood. They did not get along when they were kids, and it was only recently that they started becoming close. The brother says Jin was a “really disgusting fellow” in the past, to which Jin giggles and asks, “Why?!”, and suddenly the way Jin describes himself makes all sense.

The two talk about how lately they’ve started hanging out together and doing fun stuff. Jin thinks they didn’t do that before due to the difference in age. One more reason is that there were too many siblings, but Jin says once again that they can’t delve too deep on that one. However, the two agree that the more siblings, the merrier.

Due to the age difference, Jin and his brother used to not interact much, but tet was actually into music from a young age and had become an independent musician. Jin had been following his activities for a while in secret, but tet didn’t want to be in his brother’s shadow, so he never showed up in any of Jin’s projects and tried to distance himself as much as possible from Jin’s image. He wasn’t just hiding this from the public, but also lowkey trying to hide from Jin.

Jin reveals that he taught his brother lots of things about how to play the guitar, so perhaps the people who listen to his music will be able to tell that tet’s style is similar to his. He says he “trained” his brother like that, which tet doesn’t sound too happy about, but even he admits that Jin’s influence on him was huge.

They talk about things they’ve been doing lately, such as playing TCG together, and Jin once again brings the topic back to his brother, and how he’s not just playing the guitar but also composing his own songs and doing recordings lately. Jin reveals that tet was considering starting out as a professional either on that year or the next (2023-2024 at the time of the livestream), and Jin told him to just do it.

The icon on the screen, Jin explained, was tet’s icon in his socials and says it looks really cool. His brother says he commissioned an artist to make it for him and Jin asks the audience to support tet. The brother also asked for everyone’s support.

On the topic of commissions, Jin had received a request from a certain record company to write a song, but he was busy at the time and it’s not easy for artists or writers to do commissions with different companies in Japan, so he offered the company to commission his brother instead. The company accepted and his brother took on the request, and when Jin listened to the final product, he thought it sounded a lot like himself. The brother acknowledges that begrudgingly, and Jin laughs, “Serves you right! In your face”.

Someone in the comments says that talent for music seems to run in the family (if anyone still remembers the Jinpine radio, Jin’s uncle was a musician too) and asks if their parents’ jobs had anything to do with music. Jin answers that no, their father was a teacher and their mother was a caretaker. However, and this was a big surprise, their mother used to play the guitar and she was really damn good. The brother says she was able to do the three-finger roll technique.

So many things make so much sense now.

Jin says his brother was a drum player at first, then he took on the guitar. Then he got into songwriting, becoming more and more like Jin. Jin says he doesn’t want to “put on a big brother front” or anything, but they’re alike even in how bad they are with computers and didn’t know anything about VOCALOID. Jin says that’s just the expected since VOCALOID isn’t much of a thing in Tet’s generation, and that his brother is skilled at other things, like social media. He has also been doing live shows at concert houses and making a name for himself.

Tet mainly does vocals, and when he comments that his voice is lower than Jin’s, Jin asks the people in the comments to confirm it. The comments say that his voice is indeed lower, which Jin agrees with. Someone says Jin’s voice used to be a bit lower but got more high-pitched with time. Jin at first wonders if that’s really true and concludes it might be, maybe because he has gotten weaker. His brother says it’s probably because he has lost a lot of weight with the years. Other people say there isn’t much of a difference.

Tet wonders if they have a similar way of talking, to which Jin replies in a cute Hokkaido accent that of course they do, since they’re from the same place. Apparently, their speech mannerisms are taken after their mother. Jin starts imitating his mother’s way of talking when scolding them, which reminds the brothers of how she would let these two dangerous brats run rampant and do whatever they wanted.

One comment claims to have found Tet’s socials and is following him on Twitter. The brother is like, “Didn’t it change to X?” and Jin laughs at how weird it feels to call it “X”. The two of them don’t think it’s possible for someone to have found his socials media just from his artist name, and while Jin tells him to be careful of his private accounts, Tet says it’s definitely not him that the commenter is following. Someone comments that they sure get along well, which Jin is audibly embarrassed about as they try to figure out a way to get Tet’s socials on the map for everyone. Jin decides to retweet one of his brother’s tweets and asks everyone to follow him.

They go back to talking about Tet’s professional activities and Jin says he heard his brother playing recently. He thought it was really cool, which Tet thanks him for. Jin didn’t know his brother could play such emotional songs, because the image he has of him is from when he was “still being breastfed” and that time froze right there for him.

Some people comment that they are following Tet and Jin thanks them. The two then decide to sing something. Jin says that if the reactions are good, they will continue. If the reactions are bad, they’ll end the livestream right there and he will never call his brother again. He’ll also block his brother, whom he just followed, on Twitter. Of course, all of this is a joke.

Disaster Brothers have no idea what to play. While discussing, Jin realizes that his brother was always more into his generation’s music than what everyone else his age was listening to. Tet agrees and comments that when he’s at CD stores or music equipment shops, they’re often playing music that “Nii-chan used to listen to” in the background. Jin replies with a long “aaah, is that so” and they immediately start laughing at how he sounds like he’s suddenly lost interest in everything that exists. Tet says he sucks at conversations.

Jin says he’ll put up the music sheet on the screen but that they’ll play while looking at the comments. His brother responds with an “okay” and Jin starts laughing, saying he’s not talking to him but to the audience. His brother says he’s not used to this and asks what they should do about the balance of their sounds. Jin decides to test out stuff and someone comments that “it’s so new to see this side of Jin-san”. For the nth time, Jin is embarrassed as hell and says, “Well, I am indeed the older brother here!”

Jin remembers that, despite everything, he was always seen by everyone as the least big brother-like of his siblings. He recalls that his grandmother used to look out for his younger siblings to save them from him, and to tell everyone around them to help the younger siblings because “onii-chan is just impossible”.

The brothers decide to sing “Uroko”. Jin tests out his voice and it’s loud as heck. Tet sang the main parts and Jin did back vocals. They have pretty good chemistry when singing and playing together and by the time they finish, everyone is showering them with compliments. People are talking about Tet’s voice and Jin says he wishes he had been born with a husky voice like his. Tet says that he likes high-pitched voices that can do falsetto, so he wishes he had a voice like Jin’s. Tet then laughs at how the conversation is lagging, and Jin thinks he means the comments, but he meant that it’s lagging between the two of them. Unlike when they’re singing, they get out of sync when talking.

Jin was a little bit hesitant about whether or not to leave this livestream available on his channel, but ultimately decides do leave it, saying that they should make good memories out of it. The two decide to play “Algernon” by Yorushika. Jin fails a couple times testing out and they both laugh. This time they alternate and sing some parts together. Again, they do so well that they themselves are surprised. Some people in the comments say that the difference in their voices makes it all the better.

While discussing which song they should play next, Tet says that if they’re going to play something they don’t have to think too much about, then he’d go for “Headphone Actor”. Jin asks why and he says he just likes it. Jin asks what else Tet likes out of his songs, and he says “Summertime Record” and “Remind Blue”. Jin calls him an “emo-lover” because he likes the emotional types of songs. Tet replies that he also likes the happy ones, like “Ayano no Koufuku Riron” and “Kuusou Forest”.

Jin then begins to wonder which of his songs is his favorite, but believes he can’t pick one. He says it’s like a parent having a favorite child, which we know is bullshit since Haruka is admittedly his favorite character. The comments section starts to fill up with suggestions, and while reading them, Tet says that “Mermaid” is a lot like Jin, but the one he likes most is “Freaks”. Since they seemed to be getting nowhere, Jin asks everyone what song they would like to hear as a cover. This doesn’t help much, as they still take forever reading all the comments and deciding on which one to go with. While they are at it, someone from work contacts Jin, and while he is replying, he leaves Tet in charge.

Fujii Kaze is suggested in the comments and Jin reveals that “Fujii-san” had once covered one of his songs, but he couldn’t say which song it was. He had listened to the cover and says Fujii had turned it into “something utterly indescribable”. Tet says Fujii must’ve been really inspired by Jin, and Jin retorts, “No way; he must’ve forgotten about me at this point. To begin with, he’s in a completely different league.”

Finally, they decide to go for “Kaijuu no Hanauta”. Jin’s voice is hilariously thin when he’s tuning, and he comments that he always has to use such a wildly different tone when speaking normally, or else people don’t understand what he is saying. Tet reminds him that this is kind of a thing for both of them, and that they have always been misheard quite often when speaking. Jin recalls that whenever they went to eat out as a family, the servers would frequently mess up only his order. He admits that this is still going on even now. Although he seldom goes to drinking parties, in the rare times he does, the servers always bring the wrong drinks and appetizers.

This leads them to discussing the best ways of speaking so that other people will hear them clearly, and at some point, Jin says there is not much point in him being so clear, since he’s such an introvert. He then suddenly starts talking about how popular Tet has always been and how jealous he was of it. Tet keeps denying being that popular, but Jin ignores him and says there was a weird air about him, as in he was popular yet wasn’t a bad guy, which made Jin feel incredibly frustrated. Tet laughs at the comments calling Jin “petty”.

Jin sees a comment saying that people who sing are popular, and replies that this was one of the reasons why he learned how to sing and play guitar. He reveals that, at the time, he had heard that being able to play “Snow Smile” by Bump of Chicken was a definite way to become really popular. Without even questioning this information, he practiced the song so hard his fingers bled, but didn’t become popular in the end.

This poor, poor little dude.

Finally, at long damn last, the two brothers play the song. This is getting old but they kick it off the edge. Jin is still salty about how well their sounds match one another.

After some small talk about instruments and microphones, Jin announces that they’ll be playing Minecraft next time. They go back to the small talk and Tet casually comments that there is no Family Mart where they’re from. They decide that the next song they’ll be playing will be a song by Official Hige Dandism, which Jin refers to by the abbreviation “Ohidan”. Tet makes fun of his pronunciation, as it sounds like “oh-fee-dun”, as if he bit is tongue or something.

The last song they play is “Shukumei”, which Jin had decided on without discussing first and without asking the audience. He simply plays out a little bit of the melody and tells the people in the comments to guess what song it is. Someone guesses it right and they start playing. This one was just a part of the song, not the whole thing, but was equally as good. After talking some more, Jin plays a little bit more of the song by himself and is thoroughly unsatisfied at how it turns out in his voice alone, despite the comments saying it sounds cool.

The livestream starts coming to a close when Tet thanks Jin for having him over and announces to everyone that he’ll be uploading more songs and song covers, and hopes that people would listen. He revers to covers with the very nostalgic term “utattemita”, at which Jin laughs at and says, “Not a hint of youth in you. Don’t you mean you’ll be uploading ‘cover videos’?”

Someone in the comments asks about Inpine, and Jin says that, since Inpine has been his friend since grade school, he obviously knows Tet. In fact, Tet had recently met with Inpine and Jin recalls how surprised Inpine was at how much Tet had grown, as well as his enthusiasm at seeing Tet again. Jin says he wants to have Inpine over for livestreams again, but he’s apparently very busy. He wonders if they should make him sing and Tet says he really wants to hear that.

Jin decides to end the livestream there as they have been doing it for almost an hour and a half. They comment on how nice this way of finishing it was, say their goodbyes to the audience and the screen goes black.

1. What made you ship it

that whole period from miami to monaco last year still feels like a complete fever dream to me. what the hell was that. how did we go from radio tantrums to them lying on that damn press conference couch in the span of 3 races. and carlos saying there is a magnet between them... an insane a completely fucking insane thing to say.

and oh how the stars have perfectly aligned for monaco to even happen. they collided in the first turn, and carlos with a tyre puncture was booted back into fucking imola. the red flag and the subsequent restart that was decided to be in starting order for the pure technicality of zhou not finishing sector 1. we wouldn't have the carcar podium and the couch moment were it not for the starting order restart, yet we also wouldn't have carlos saying the magnet line had they not collided in the first turn. insane string of coincidences.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

these two guys don't really interact much irl, but the ship really works because they are two personalities that are compelling to slap together. a lot of apparent differences that produce fun ways to clash them, yet a lot of similarities underneath that allow the pairing to evolve. obvious introvert oscar with his air of indifference, yet a rather sociable and amiable guy if you prod a bit. carlos who is often mistaken for an extrovert with the way he carries himself with confidence, but is quite a reserved guy actually. very compelling to explore the insecurities that may lie beneath both of their confident exteriors. oscar who is often slapped with the cool and rational and emotionless iceman label, yet it slips sometimes, and he will often imply that there's quite a bit going on underneath, it just doesn't naturally come to him to express much of it. carlos who is more apparently emotional, expresses it more naturally, whether he's being angry or sentimental, a very touchy feely guy as well, but is actually rather careful and rational in the way he handles many things. you can see where i'm going with this. mutually perceived differences and the truth that is often somewhere in the middle. fun to play around with.

i also like that there is a lot of variety with sexual dynamics in their fics. carcar never had a fandom designated top/bottom which tends to happen with so many ships. even in the early days when there were like 20 carcar fics on ao3 you could still find something you'd enjoy whether you preferred bottom oscar or bottom carlos or whatever. to me that is always a sign of a good ship.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

in the early days there used to be this common misconception of carlos being this insane crazy angry obsessed guy, and oscar being very unmoved very unbothered about it. but i think this view has changed now. the insanity goes both ways, a very important carcar point. i also find it more fun to explore oscar being this bothered person in contrast with his calm demeanor. this stupid carlos pisses him off and it really bothers him being so pissed off because he is "not usually like that". he is "not like him". really.

i also feel like due to these apparent differences in oscar being "unemotional" and carlos being "emotional", it is more often carlos who is written as this soft vulnerable guy, and oscar as cool and rational, which i find a bit boring. they are most compelling to me when there are insecurities and vulnerabilities to both of them and these vulnerabilities are matching or clashing or both at the same time.

Given that he is Russian and an old freak, he probably spoils the hell out of his daughter. But is also very strict - perfect grades, must learn 3 languages and play 3 instruments, and has to know how to shoot a gun perfectly.

I think he shows affection, but because he is just used to being manipulative, their relationship might be strained

Due to his age and experience, I think he would be freakish about some things. Like there is a 0% chance that he would let her have a boyfriend, and all of her friends would have to be vetted through him

I don't think he would really introduce her to the 'normal' world - he's lived for centuries, so he's seen empires and their laws fail time and time again. In his mind, there is no 'normal', since that definition can change quickly. he does no expect her to have children nor does he expect her to be married. but that might also be because he can't picture anyone being worthy of marrying his daughter

He also wants her to be able to defend herself. If she has an ability then he's even more concerned; that's probably his worst nightmare as a parent

If her mother is in the picture I think that would cause his relationship with his daughter to be even more strained. I don't think he would be an active father, since distance might be the best way to protect them

Fyodor knows more about his daughter than she knows about him. just a fact.

Nikolai might be an 'uncle' to her. Or at least somewhat active in her life.

Gonna be honest, I think Fyodor would make her think that he's a better person than he really is.

If she ever gets involved in the world of crime and abilities like he is then 100% he is stalking her every move and will be there to protect her if necessary. Is it weird? yes. but he's just being a dad.

I dont think his daughter would ever fully know him as a person. then again, does Fyodor even know himself?

He knows what he is capable, so he would expect the same from his son. Which is dangerous, because Fyodor knows the extent of his own crimes

but there is a high chance that they would not get along together. even though his son might be exactly like him; smart, manipulative, and a little crazy. perhaps they're just too similar.

A positive; Fyodor would have the same hobbies as his son. And it's one of the best ways for them to bond. catch them playing some songs together and you'll understand just how they're related

I think Fyodor wouldnt view his son as an equal unless proven wrong. He has high expectations, which would likely strain their relationship

to a scary amount. like, she might threaten to stop talking to him ever again because she's 4 and having a tantrum and it might actually cause Dazai to have a breakdown. good luck getting them both to calm down

Fatherhood might actually kill Dazai. because he hates himself and he would be convinced all the time that his daughter hates him

Is it healthy? no. absolutely not

he'll gladly play along with her games though. he'd probably play along with her too well; he'd have his own dress and everything for tea parties. he also is a big fan of her 'girl' shows

are they good? absolutely not but its fun to tease her about it. unironically watches bad dramas with her

cried when she made him a bad drawing of them holding hands. its stupid but he never could picture someone calling him 'best friend' genuinely.

the agency is 100% involved with her life.

Kunikida would probably be more responsible for her then Dazai. doesn't mean he's a bad father, but I think Dazai would struggle with the simple childhood joys

The agency is like her second family; everytime she comes back from school she'll right there. she's a near permanent fixture in the office

She might want to grow up to be just like them. Dazai absolutely shuts this down; he dgaf if she has an ability or not. although she will continue to try anyway

Dazai has no idea how to encourage a child to be better though. I feel like Kunikida and Fukuzawa would encourage her to go through higher education more than Dazai would

while not always there, I think she'll be aware of the port mafia. Does she know Dazai's connection with it? one day yes, but by god does she never tell her father

He knows that she knows, but that conversation would probably be extremely difficult for him. I think there's a lot of "I know that you know" between them, but they're both too careful to do anything

if she starts a fight with him then it's an absolute nightmare for the both of them. I think his daughter might have a sense of hyper independence and will start to argue with him very early

They both get over it. eventually. but there would likely be a long period of where his daughter will know the right things to say to hurt him. Dazai knows to be better now, but he isn't sure of the right alternative.

there might be a chance that his daughter would have mental health issues like him. which is terrifying, and might be the one reason why Dazai tries to take care of himself more. It's not a good example for a kid to see their father try to drown himself afterall.

gonna be honest though I think Dazai would use his daughter as a way to connect with Odasaku. while she might not be an orphan, he'll find that he can understand the pain Oda went through before his death

That probably terrifies him even more honestly. because now he knows just how bad that feeling is. like it's the shit that keeps him up at night

but all in all, I think he would have a good relationship with her. they both can bury the hatchet at least.

Boy dad

I think it's mostly similar to raising a daughter

But it's just a little easier; he has experience in shaping young men, so at least when his son is older he knows he won't struggle so much

He is kind to his son. but also more distant

unfortunately a lot of his experience works with those who are already broken. which means that there is likely a long period in his son's early years where he won't know the best answer to a person who never experienced the torture he did

there's a critical age in his son's life where they empathize with one another though. probably after a stupid breakup.

I think his son would make the bad mistake of assuming that his father knows nothing about his life or how bad he has it. which ends soon enough, but that doesn't mean it bridges the gap it caused

His son might end up more like Kunikida, which is both a blessing and a nightmare. a blessing because he is responsible and makes sure that his father is alive everyday, and a nightmare because he is far too capable as a person and can see Dazai's flaws as clear as day

There is a strange thing where his son is simply different from his father. Kind of like Atsushi, who wants to assume the best in people first. And will find that he cares little for romantic pursuits.

he might not care enough. Dazai knows how attractive he is, and his son certainly inherited it. but his son cares little for it, becoming rather serious and focused on his own pursuits

is it a bad thing? not necessarily. but its a tool to Dazai, one that's helped him time and time again. for him it feels like his son is throwing away opportunities that could only favor him

not to say that his son is incapable of manipulation. but he values the truth far more, which leads to him preferring to brute force his way through problems and situations

in a situation where Dazai would manipulate his way to the top, his son would simply slam the truth in front of him and expect everyone to follow the solution he sees as best

i can imagine it being very frustrating for them both. His son sees through his manipulation and Dazai knows that his son is right about how to solve his problems

its like telling a smoker that smoking is bad for them. its a constant struggle

they get along though. they have their differences but in the end of the day, dazai knows his son could survive without him and doesn't see the need to watch over him like a hawk

I'm really curious about what the other beastancient legendary costume pairs will be so here' some theorizing by: ME

So, so far we have 2 pairs but they have different concepts: one is basically a swap au, while the other is something like a bad ending type deal. We can expect the other 3 pairs to either have their own concepts, more fitting for their characters and dynamics, or to continue playing with concepts similar to these two. Since we know nearly nothing about Silent Salt so far, i'm gonna skip on talking about them

The concept where the ancient joins the beast really only works for eternalberry, where Sugar actively wanted Holly to remain at her side. It is also PARTIALLY what happened with Truthless Recluse, but since he already temporarily joins Shmilk in the story, the costume set had a different idea, that being an alternate universe where Shmilk and Vani swap places (while still, interestingly, remaining themselves in their heart, down to having the same motivations as their normal counterparts; just existing on a different side of the narrative). With eternalberry, however, it's less like a parallel timeline where things are different, and more like another way that things could've happened in the main story. Holly even has her doubts about staying in the garden, proving that she's still very much the same person.

So, with these two sets, a pattern already emerges: 1) both costume sets show how things could've "gone differently" and 2) it does so by reimagining the same characters in a new situation, rather than changing the characters completely. That is to say, my first theory is: *drumroll* there WILL NOT be a corrupted ancient or a redeemed beast in these costumes. Because to have either happen, the character's lives must go so differently that they will become entirely different people. Of course, with only 2 sets, this cight as well be a coincidence. But I also think that keeping the former identities of the beasts a mystery adds to their characters and the fun of analyzing them. Basically, I would rather continue theorizing rather than being handed an answer. Although! Corrupted ancients as a costume concept is a bit more likely (given that it's KIND OF what already happened with both sets), but when i say it won't happen, i mean we won't get "ancient if they became a beast". It will be more akin to the sets we already got, where, you can notice, the ancients don't entirely agrre with their beast half (even Holly)

Mystic Flour better get another legend costume that's NOT a part of a set with Cacao, because, since they're already doing sets, it means all pairs will get one, but Mystic is still in the queue for her COTY costume. Give her like a cute Valentines one like they do for COTY winners in CROB, or a Christmas one since they already missed out on Valentine's. As for the set with Cacao, I don't think there's a universe in which they are together bc obv Mystic's goal is to erase the whole damn world. A swap au like in shadowvani's case wouldn't work either, since you can't easily swap their soul jams like you can with shadowvani, as in mysticao's case, their conflict is not a "two sides of the same coin" or a difference in ideologies; their Resolution and Apathy (Emptiness) are polar opposites that i don't think would necessarily work well in a swap situation. So, what could they do? They could swap aesthetics, for one, but that's boring. But here's something interesting they have in common that wasn't explored in the story: their connection to dragons. Dark Cacao is obvious, but, if you didn't know, her gacha background portrays her facing a dragon (on the left)

Som could both of them, like, fuse with dragons and begin an eternal fight like the black and white dragons that Cacao sealed...? Idk, i think that's a sick idea. So that's one theory that I have.

Goldenspice (i'm STICKING with this name, ok) is hard also, bc similarly to mysticao, i don't think you could twist the story for them to be together and whatnot. It's either one survives, or the other. Except, Goldie doesn't kill Spice in the story, and we don't exactly know her motivation (we do know the writers' one tho lol), but i think for her to kill him is to prove him right about destruction being "the only way". So, why don't we go that route...? Goldie's costume is the timeline where she defeats Spice without awakening, killing him because of anger rather than because of her wish to protect what's dear to her, and becoming a lot more of cruel person afterwards. And Spice's costume is one where he kills Goldie, in which he becomes sorta detached and apathetic, where destruction no longer brings him the same joy because he no longer has the perfect opponent to look forward to. In both instances, they get the other's Soul Jam, but the light of theirs fades and they become ordinary gemstones. How's that for a bad ending...? (I gotta say, it's interesting, but i don't think it's gonna happen even remotely, lol).

The grab, the way James looked at him, the fact he licked his wound—which he still didn’t know whether he wanted to recoil or something completely different at that… that couldn’t have just been for no reason.

But Cas has seen other soldiers play in a similar way with each other. He’s seen them jokingly flirt, knowing full well half of them had girlfriends. Maybe James was doing the same…?

…Yeah. Yeah, he had to be. The guy had a daughter, so if anything, this was just some silly fun. Just guys being dudes. The Lord wouldn’t approve of anything else.

He hadn’t registered the fact he’d stepped inside until he felt the temperature change. He spent no time making his way to the kitchen, rinsing his wounds out with water before going in with a little bit of soap, hissing through his teeth at the stinging.

It soon clicked into place that, well, you can’t really take care of an open wound without something to protect it. And unfortunately for Cas, he didn’t know where the first aid supplies were.

“D’you mind if I borrow a bandage?” Cas turned to James, drying his hands off and making sure to be extra careful around the wounds. The redness on his face was still very much there, if not intensified as he was slowly processing that yeah! those things actually happened!

At least he could blame it on the giant, glowing ball of light in the sky if James asked.

Demolitions powerhouse.

How James’ new hire’s reference had described the man. Caspian. Redacted information in every sentence at least, but apparently a killer on the field.

James watched him step off the plane, rocking on his feet as he observed the man. He looked like a seasoned vet, but a demolitions powerhouse? Surely not.

“Nice’a meet ya, shortstack,” James said, his smile warm and soft like an old friend. “‘M yer superior. Just call me Rodeo.” He led him through the base, explaining all the different buildings and aspects. Finally, he stopped back in the barracks.

“Ya got the last room, across from me. Good incase ya get any questions. M’ door is always open, Sergeant. Ya got any questions ‘fore I settle in for the night?” James stood firm, his stance powerful but his eyes warm and welcoming.

At the very sight of James before he even got a chance to get a foot onto the ground, Caspian had the passing thought of needing to get his eyes checked, or his depth perception at the very least. He didn’t know he’d be working with a man that towered over him by nearly twenty centimeters.

To say James’ height was a little intimidating would be an understatement. He’d seen men taller than himself before, sure, but this… this was an entirely new realm.

Once they’d reached the barracks, He stood across from James, keeping eye contact the best he could as he spoke. Something about the man drew him in, but he couldn’t figure out what. Cas pushed this off as just confirmation that he’d feel at home on base, or at least that him and James would get along. Couldn’t be much else. … couldn’t be.

“I have been wonderin’ something fer a little while… what exactly do they feed you here?” He asked, partially teasing, but his words held an undercurrent of curiosity. “Can’t remember the last time I saw a guy that was nearly as tall as a doorframe.”

He crossed his arms, a playful look on his face. He glanced off to the side of the room, his mind already jumping to how he’d set up his room if it was anything similar to James’, what food was served, hopefully it was better than what he had at home…— He mentally shook away his wandering thoughts, turning his attention back to what was in front of him.

Craning his neck upwards would take some getting used to, but it was nothing he couldn’t massage out.

tsumugi is exploiting rantaro's mental illness for shock value in season 53. she learned how to do it from hito, who has the same mental illness and ergo can pull this off with devastating accuracy

hito, ostensibly, is on the side of the good guys. they arent actually allied with team danganronpa at ALL. they are however a massive sadist and their own pride doesn't allow them to pull any punches with their writing of their season, which coupled with insider knowledge AND talent (ult wordsmith) AND being a killing game survivor makes them ten times worse than tsumugi ever could be

and despite being on two sides of the same coin, hito and tsumugi fucking DESPISE each other and are constantly at odds any time they're in the same room together and openly get under the other's skin. hito keeps reminding tsumugi that she was GOING to write season 52 until hito asked for a job last-minute and their ultimate status meant tsumugi got shafted. tsumugi repeatedly flirts with hito's husband in front of them and needles the pair ccccconstantly

tsumugi also does some genuinley despicable things to hito and some other people in their periphiary but it still doesnt change that tsumugi, the antagonist, is exploiting a teenager's devastating mental state for television and hito, to combat this, is doing literally the exact same goddamn thing but more effectively

i personally have very complicated feelings on the Gotham Knights video game and the routes it takes with characterization. i think it has a charm to it and it goes in an interesting direction with everyone (especially within the confides of the plot of the game) but it does have certain moments that veer painfully fanon for me. (such as: the dialogue where Tim drinks too much coffee) it's an interesting story for what it is but i don't view it comics-based for characterization and therefore don't care to interact with it much for like. fanfic purposes.

that *said* though. i do have to give the game some kind of credit for giving one of the top five JayTim moments that lives rent free in my mind. every since i played the game, the cutscene lives in my mind daily. it's the specific cutscene where Jason and Tim are arguing about whether or not Jason's non-lethal bullets are too dangerous for the field, and the argument leads to TIm *standing in front of the target* Jason is shooting and telling Jason to shoot him. it lives rent free for me. i never stop thinking about this.

the absolute certainty Tim has that he is in no danger standing in front of Jason, who has a loaded gun pointed at his face. the way Jason *hesitates* for just a moment before lowering the gun. he thinks about it for just a second. Gotham Knights JayTim seem to get along very well and can rely on each other, but Jason still clearly holds a bitterness about his death and Tim that flickers through in some lines of dialogue under the guise of jokes. especially since this game deals *heavily* with concepts of Pit Madness causing an altered state of consciousness, i think it's believable that occasionally, Jason fights the urge to fight and hurt Tim for the feeling of being replaced.

i like their tension so much in this canon. they get along but you can *tell* Tim is afraid of addressing Jason's trauma or even addressing Jason head-on, and Jason leans into spooking Tim about it. which isn't very comics feeling in their dynamic, but it is an interesting way to place their dynamic if you're playing with a more timid Tim who's newer to the role of Robin. (which he seems to be in-game) he really doesn't want to offend Jason, or worse, piss him off. but he'll still face Jason head on for things like this, while completely aware of what Jason could be capable of.

and Jason seems very protective of Tim and respecting Tim as a Robin in typical Jason fashion. if Tim pushes, Jason *will* relent. he knows this is a kid who's proved himself and should be treated with equal respect, sometimes even more than Dick and Babs do in-game.

so for all that to culminate in Tim stepping in front of Jason's loaded gun that he *knows* is on the edge of being too dangerous, just to force Jason to listen? it's the most unhinged way Tim could've gotten his point across in this scene. he was literally daring Jason to hurt him and playing with a very dangerous fire. but he did it anyway bc he believed he could make Jason heel just at the thought of hurting Tim. and he was *right*. they're gay and i'm feral ty.

Initially I only really read Gwynriel but then I was very hungry for a lil mlm so I found Cazriel which is delish n all but there was a severe lack of, so I eventually stumbled on Azris and it was like cumming home i swear. I will DIEEE for this damn ship.

I haven't written/drew a lawt of Azris but I think I always end up make Azriel extremely sorta submissive for Eris. I always liked the idea of them having a sort of reverence for each other. I love it when they LOVE each other. Also I like Azzy getting his back blown out in 9 different ways lol.

My favourite fic has got to be my very first fic lmfao Clerical Errors In Love which is a modern Au where Eris is a rival lawyer and Azriel is a clerk. It is very poorly written in all honesty but the amazing feedback I got from it made me sososoooo happy and I do just wanna thank everyone who encouraged me, I've made many friends who I hold very dear to me...omg corny lemme shaddup now. My favourite Azris art piece might have to be my piece of Azzy riding his High Lord hehehe

With writing I usually handwrite all of my ideas and stuff then jump on a doc and mumble jumble scenes untill i have a bunch then sort them out into something coherent then throw it at the poor soul who had kindly gave into my begging offered to beta 💕. With my art its a similar process i suppose. I traditionally sketch out any ideas, collect a bunch of references then spend a ridiculously long time doing a sketch lineart and render lol

My favourite Azriel headcanon is that he had a stutter/speech impediment when he was younger 😖 God I love angst ehheheh. My fav Eris headcanon is that he has freckles EVERYWHERE despite me never ever writing this and barely drawing it lol I just thing he's so pretty and he deserves to have constellations all over his body. My favourite Azris headcanon is that they always like to be touching. Not always sexual, just hands smoothing over the small of the other back, playing footsie under the table, leaning into each other when they're sat, sleeping naked so they can feel the bond flowing between them when they cuddle AHHJHH.

Also I miss secondary/sixth form lmfao lololol. I'm also excited about my merman au where both Az and Eris are trans so that'll be super fun eeeee

I take a lot of inspiration from my music as well, I don't have a dedicated Azris playlist because I find them so malleable, I can just shove them in a situation and manipulate it enough that it fits em gahh. Though when writing Clerical Errors in Love I exclusively listened to Badlands by Halsey despite it being a breakup album lol.

If you're running out of steam when writing then take a break from it!! Distract yourself with some guilty pleasure writing!! No point turning something thats meant to be enjoyable into a chore.

The controversy is in only considering trans men as "men" in a way to hurt them. While also in a way misgendering:
