hello! hope your day/night is going well! for the special, pretty please: langa x reader x reki (poly) + roomates au?
Event Masterlist About The Event
Notes: I haven't written poly relationships in a bit so I hope I pulled this off
Warnings: poly relationship
Characters involved:
Gender-neutral reader, you/yours
The first time you met Reki and Langa was the day Cherry introduced you to them and suggested you be that fated third roommate they were looking for.
It was certainly awkward at first.
Normally, people could just avoid their roommates who were strangers until they eventually got comfortable enough to start a conversation.
But Reki and Lange were already best friends and were nice enough to try and include you in their friendship. They were always ensuring you didn't feel like a third wheel, especially after they told you about their relationship.
At first, it was sort of annoying in a sweet way, but after a month of complaining about Reki using his skateboard to get around the house and fussing over the two boys to get them to eat and sleep on time, it was safe to say you had gotten used to living with the two of them.
You didn't even realise when the casual affection started. When awkward side hugs had turned to cuddle sessions after long days and kisses on the cheek or forehead.
When you stopped dodging Langa around the kitchen and got used to being hugged from the back as he gushed about some new skater they were going to go against.
When Reki's loud action movies playing in the living room as he worked on a new skateboard had become more endearing than annoying.
Before long you had even gotten accustomed to seeing the rest of their friends like Joe, Cherry and Miya.
You found yourself spending Saturday nights tripping over your own feet as they tried to teach you how to skate and grumbling about how unsafe your roommates were being.
Maybe that was why you weren't as surprised as you should have been when things turned more romantic than platonic.
When forehead kisses as you cooked breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning turned into kisses down your neck while Langa whined about how sore he was.
When watching Reki fix skateboards turned into sitting between his legs with his hands cupping yours as he taught you how to do it and occasionally mumbled the sweetest little compliments into the back of your neck.
You tried to distance yourself, tried to draw a line between what was normal for friends who were affectionate with each other and people dating.
But before long you found that Langa was kissing your cheeks, forehead, anything he could right after he would kiss Reki deeply after winning a race.
Everything just felt so easy with both of them. Which was why you found yourself agreeing when they sat you down and talked to you about being in a three-way relationship.
Nothing really changed.
Langa would kiss you good morning while you whipped up breakfast, but now his lips would linger on yours.
Reki would still drag you to the couch after classes so he could force you to work on new skateboards with him, but now you sit on his lap as his fingers drummed against your waist and he observed you add twists of your own to his creations.
Movie nights were still the same, but you had lost track of how many times cuddling sessions turned into lazy make outs and vice versa.
You learned to stop caring about the weird looks and whispers of how they liked each other more than you, and they learned to adjust their lives to accommodate their new partner.
Over time the apartment you shared turned from a temporary college dorm to the place the three of you would return to after your jobs would end.
Everything was still the same.
You thought being in a relationship with two people would be double the drama but instead you found yourself feeling more at peace than you ever had before.
And that was all that mattered; that the three of you were happy to be roommates in a relationship.

Forgot To Lock The Door
Hey, I'm also doing sk8 the infinity agere stuff! I haven't watched it in a while though, so i may get some things wrong. please tell me if i do!
Tw: mentions agere getting mixed up in Fet*sh
The school day was extremely long. Reki just wanted to go home. He was so exhausted. Everything was so boring and he just felt depressed. He needed to mentally prepare if he was going to go to S tonight. So before Langa could even meet up with him, he was already riding his skateboard home.
Right when he entered his house, his mom was in the kitchen baking cookies. She greeted him but he barely said anything back. Reki went straight to his room and threw his bag in the corner and shut the door.
You could say Reki wasn’t your “normal” teenage boy. Sure he was a skater and “cool” dude, but that all hid his weakest side. His little side. Reki was an age regressor. He acted young when he needed to cope.
Since the day tired him out so much, he was feeling very small. Going on all fours, he reached under his bed and pulled out a diaper and backpack. His bladder tended to weaken when he was regressed and he did not want to risk having any accidents. Plus the padding was super comfy! He dug through his bag and pulled out his stuffed bear and paci.
Reki hugged the stuffed bear and put the pacifier in his mouth. Next came putting on his diaper. He wasn’t the best at this. One side was always tighter than the other. But he tried his best.
Once he was finished, he took out his tech deck and began playing with it, doing cool tricks. It was very relaxing and helped him a lot.
After he began to become bored of the tech deck, he got out his crayons and some paper. He drew a picture of him and Langa skating together. Then he drew some cartoon characters and small doodles.
Suddenly, he saw the doorknob begin to turn. He had forgotten to lock his doors. He tried to get up to hold it shut, but tripped on his own feet and fell.
“Reki? Are you okay?” Langa. Luckily, he stopped opening the door when he tripped.
“Uh yeah! I’m fine!” he answered back nervously after spitting out his pacifier.
“I don’t believe you. You forgot to meet up with me after school, you never forget,” Langa said. He truly was worried.
“I’m fine, Langa! Go away!” Reki got up to go lock the door but Langa opened it, seeing Reki with his padded butt, teddy bear, and pacifier clipped to his hoodie. Langa gasped out of shock, not expecting to see his boyfriend like this.
“Babe, what’s going on? Why are you dressed like this?” He questioned. Reki stood like a deer in headlights before he broke down crying. He didn’t want anyone to know about this. Especially not his boyfriend! He’ll probably break up with him or think its some kind of fetish.
“Hey, it’s okay, I’m not mad or upset, I’m just a bit confused and worried,” Langa tried to comfort him.
He let Reki cry it out, figuring it would be best since Reki often didn’t cry. Once he was done, Langa rubbed his back.
“I- I age dream and regress. So i act like a baby or toddler to cope or I mentally revert back to a younger state of mind,” Reki answered when he felt like he could speak.
“Ohh, is that what this is? You can do that, baby, I don’t mind. Do you need to be taken care of? I don’t think babies can go without a parent or caregiver,” Langa said. He somewhat understood what was going on. He wasn’t going to judge his boyfriend, and instead would support him in any way.
“If you’re okay with that, I’d love to! I always wanted a caregiver!” Reki answered. Langa patted his head
“I can do that for you, honey,” Langa gave him a kiss on the forehead, making him giggle, “What were you drawing?”
Reki crawled over to his picture and showed him what he drew. He held it up proudly, showing it off.
“Wow, sweetie, this looks great!”
Reki smiled brightly before putting his paci back in his mouth and started coloring another one.
They spent the rest of the afternoon playing, coloring and cuddling. Reki didn’t want to age back up but they were going to S tonight and knew Langa was waiting all week for it. So he crawled out of his new caregivers arms and started putting away his stuff.
“Whats the matter, baby boy?” Langa asked.
“We have S tonight, I need to get ready,” he answered.
“How about we skip it for tonight. We’ve been going there a lot, maybe we should take a break,” He suggested. He knew that Reki was having some problems with his mental health and anxiety and just wanted him to feel better.
Reki immediately dropped his stuff and crawled right back into Langa’s lap. It was nice to finally have a break.

BSD S5 EP 9
I have not finished the episode yet but I've just gotten to the Fukufuku backstory (specifically the part where they just met and its night and they're lying on the floor together) and, these two are fucking dark timeline Renga from sk8! 'The way of the sword is enjoyable!' and 'I'm going to master the sword alongside you' vs 'skating is fun!' and 'I want to skate with you infinitely' I swear Fukuchi even did the same hand movement that Reki did at some point. Energetic sunshine (at least at the moment) x calm and collected. I am getting such strong Renga vibes from that scene and it's driving me insane.
OK I JUST WATCHED TWO (2) SECONDS FURTHER AND NOW WE'RE IN A FUCKING SHOJO ANIME! BONES LOVES OLD MAN YAOI SO MUCH! THIS IS SO GAY! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CHERRY BLOSSOMS!!? A CHERRY BLOSSOM PETAL IN THE SHAPE OF A HEART JUST FELL INTO FUKUZAWAS SAKE(?) AND THEN BROKE INTO TWO. THEY'RE NOT EVEN BEING SUBTLE WITH THE 'THIS (ROMANTIC) RELATIONSHIP IS ABOUT TO GO O SHIT' -NESS
DONT DO SYMBOLISM WITH THE FUCKING BIRDS YOU DUMB SHOW! I SEE WHAT YOU'RE FUCKING DOING! For context, they were having a conversation but the focus was on these two egrets? herons? anyways, and then one of them just flew off when Fukuchi said that he was gonna be promoted and sent to the battlefield , which is what separated these two. I'm going to die, I'm not entirely sure why but I am. /pos
Fuck it, I'm committing to the live blog. enjoy seeing my live uncut reactions folks!
The animation is so pretty bro, bones adores their old man yaoi.
Ok, old man yaoi backstory is over , and before I move on to the next thing I just wanna say, young Fukuzawa was so fucking cute! He was an old man even when he was a baby! he was adorable! and honestly so was Fukuchi! I'm very sad that he became the way he is now, war really does stuff to people, huh?
Ok I'm a little bit confused, I didn't realize that he had told that United Nations guy the half-truth. But whatever, that's on me I guess.
OK! JESUS FUCK THE MORE I HERE ABOUT THE WAR THE WORSE IT GETS. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SOLDIERS HAD TO EAT EACHOTHER AND WERE SHOT FOR TRYING TO DESERT! MAYBE I SHOUD HAVE EXPECTED THAT IT IS WAR BUT JESUS CHRIST!
God, Fukufuku are so gay. I know that stabbing someone isn't exactly romantic but he Fukuzawa did the thing where you grab onto the other persons clothes and after Fukuchi stabbed him his head ended up resting on his chest. This is PEAK romantic tradgedy.
Teruko, I love you. She looks so pretty and she is so hecking smart and I just adore her. She let Atsushi go! Woohoo!! Also, Atsushi's hallucinations are really coming in full force, huh? He is seeing so many people.
Dazai and Sigma are so silly, I love them, Dazai stop flirting for two fucking seconds challenge. Also, it's fun to hear that Dazai is screwing around with Sigma while thinking of Kunikida! Truly every ship is being fed this season! Except sskk, but we did get Aku in Atsushi's hallucinations doing a thing so that's kinda a win for the gays!
Wow! What a nice elevator! I'm sure nothing bad will happen here!
Oh catgirl, you left us too soon.
I must say, I don't really have much to say on the Meursault section. It was good! The animation was great as it usually is for the Meursault sections, Sigma was so pretty I love him and! Dazai did the thing where he played with Sigma's hair! Woo! Fyodor was his usual level of kinda ugly in anime form, Dazai is showing emotions! more of the sillies, Dazai fucking stood on Sigma, which is delightful, aaaaaaand it's started to flood! Fuck!
Anyways, back to the very start of this episode before I was overcome by the homosexual-ness of Fukufuku, Aya Bram Kunikida and Tanizaki got yoinked! Fuck! I still have a theory that Tanizaki could be doing an illusion and I will make a post about it one day. And also, please excuse me for saying this because while I am still upset about Ranpo being hurt... watching Fukuchi pick him up by the scruff of his neck like a cat was kinda hilarious. Also, Teruko I love you. You're the only hunting dog that heard about Fukuchi's real identity and didn't immediately die. Girlboss fr. Also also, where are Lucy Kyouka and Yosano :D? W-where did they go? Asagiri please I need to see my girls.
And to once again revisit the old gays, Holy Shit that was so gay. Nobody told me that the Fukufuku backstory was a Sports Anime tm that turned into a war drama in the second season! I knew we said they were divorced but I never realized just how married they were before the separation! Wow! Fukuzawa smiled so softly at Fukuchi! They were such sweet kids! Aagh!
This was a good episode! I liked this! Excited for next Wungo Wednesday!

(Name) stared out the window with their chin propped on the palm of their hand boredly as the teacher continued on about some chemistry problems and their equations written on the board, his back turned on the students. Their mechanical lead pencil twirled lazily in their fingers, a low sigh going through their nose. The young skater stopped listening to the lecture a few minutes ago. Class was already half an hour in. Their mind had long abandoned the subject of today's lessons, swimming down a path of old memories as their eyes stared at the passing clouds. It was a windy day. Their boyfriends mentioned doing some more skill practices after school during their lunchtime for one of Langa's upcoming races with one of the known skaters in the underground group which both boys refused to let (Name) in.
Although (Name) really didn't had any intentions of joining in the S organization. They weren't one for racings or competing against others. They had seen the injuries both Reki and Langa received. It broke their heart seeing their boys be cover in bandages. Such injuries brought an old childhood memory of theirs.
Back when they first started skating on their own, they would be cover in band-aids themselves after spending hours upon hours on learning how to ride a board. After an hour of struggling to step on the board without sliding off from it and earning themselves a scratch on one of their palms or knees, (Name)'s mother would bake them their favorite treat, a plate of warm, delicious blueberry muffins with a glass of milk beside it. Just from the thought of it in their memories made their mouth watered.
Before their mind wander further into their memories, the last bell of the school day rang throughout the whole building. Students begun to pack their stuffs while the teacher remind them of their lessons and their homework for the night, (Name) taking their time as the rest of their classmates rush out to hurry home.
Bored (colored) eyes looked at the school building as the owner stood beside the gates. They waited patiently for their boyfriends to meet up with them at the gates, as they promised during lunch. Squinting their eyes, (Name) saw a mop of baby bluer hair bouncing slightly as Langa ran up them with a determined look on his face.
"(Nickname)!" Langa called out as he reached them, his signature skateboard in hand while the other held his bookbag. "Ready to go? Reki said he would catch up to us later at the usual spot. One of his teachers held him back to get him back on track on his assignments." He explained. (Name) mouthed out an 'oh' as they nodded.
"Ah, I see... I imagined it was the English teacher, huh?" They said, shaking their head when Langa nodded. Though, they didn't mind starting on the training without Reki, (Name) wanted to hang out with both their boys. "How about we wait for Reki st my house? Besides, I've been thinking about making some blueberry muffins. We can make some together and eat them when Reki comes over." They suggested, looking at the other skater.
Lanha stared at his partner, a clear look of a debate going in his head.
"Okay." He answered after a moment of silence.
(Name) grinned and took his hand in theirs, intertwining their fingers as they led the way to find a grocery store.
It was getting close to evening. Reki had texted to the trio's group chat about coming over to (Name)'s house. Thankfully it was a Friday night, having the whole weekend to spend it over at their house while going out to get some training done. Langa and (Name) spent the rest of the time until Reki came back from school gathering the ingredients and measuring them up. From preparing the batter, to mixing the berries in to baking the muffins and letting them cool down after taking them out of the oven.
The duo heard furious knocks coming from the front entrance of the house. (Name) gestured to Langa to stay in the kitchen and place the muffins on plate as they went to check who was at the door. Their eyes beamed when familiar face grinning back at them.
"(Nickname)!" Reki announced, already wrapping his arms around the other skater. "Aah, I missed you!" He said, nuzzling his face against their shoulder. (Name) laughed as they returned the hug and patted his hair.
"It's only been a few hours after school, Reki." They said, chuckling at the cute pout the boy gave after pulling away from the hug to look at them.
"Still! It felt like days." Reki commented, moving away inside the house to let his partner close the door behind them. "Where's Langa? Didn't he came home with you?"
(Name) nodded over to the kitchen before heading back to it with Reki following behind. "Yeah, he did. We stopped by a store to buy some stuff to make my favorite muffins." They answered, grinning lazily when they saw Langa tried to keep a small pyramid of blueberry muffins together on the plate. He wore a concentration look on his face, little bit of his tongue stick out with his brows frowned down their forehead. "Langa~, Reki's here."
Cutting his attention away from a muffin falling down the top of the food pyramid, Langa stood back up with a smile. "Reki! Look, I helped (Nickname) made their favorite muffins." He said, pointing at the muffins with a proud smile on his features. Reki chuckled and nodded, walking over with (Name).
"It really does look delicious."
"Right! I hope they taste as good as my mom had done for me."
"They're cool down, so let's try them."
With Langa's suggestion coming into actions, each skater grabbed a muffin and took a bite into the treat.
"Ooh... They're so good!"
"Really? I think they're second to my mom's."
"Tastes sweet like you..."
Silence grew over the trio as Reki and (Name) looked over at Langa and his comment. Right in the exact moment after the comment left the blue-haired boy's lips, a rudy shade blush decorated (Name)'s cheeks.
"L-Langa, dude! Don't say such corny shit!" (Name) whined, pouting as they covered their face after putting the muffin back on the plate, growing flustered. Langa smiled as Reki laughed loudly.
"Haha! He's not lying, though!" Reki said, pulling their hands away. Once his partner looked at him, Reki stole a quick kiss from them. "See, you do taste like blueberry muffins, so sweet!" He teased, grinning at the other skater's face continued to burn from the teasing.
Witnessing the teasing, Langa huffed and took (Name) by their chin and made them face him, planting a quick kiss, too, surprising them further more as their flushed face grew heated one last time. They sweared they looked like a ripe tomato if the tease continue further. "Hm... Sweet..." Langa muttered, smiling at his partner. Reki grinned, nodding in agreement.
"Oh my gosh..." (Name) whispered under their breath, covering their face once more. "You guys are so corny..." They sighed, smiling a little as their heart fluttered against their chest. (Name) was glad to met the two boys. The duo always know how to get under their skin with the teasing and the affection. They don't mind it, though. It always brings a smile to their heated face and make their heart flutter in love.

“So how long are we gonna stand here?”
You and your boyfriend, Miya, were standing in a skate park with the sun setting in the sky, casting a calming golden light over the concrete. It was a school day, so most kids were at home, leaving the place empty for the two of you. You weren’t a skater like Miya, that was for sure- you didn’t know a thing about skating. But, you didn’t feel like staying behind anymore while he went off with his friends to skate somewhere. So now, here the two of you were- Miya with his usual board while you had a spare from Dope Sketch.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sorry,” you apologized, tapping your foot anxiously on the ground with your arms folded across your chest. “I just need- I just need a minute.”
“It’s been, like, ten minutes,” Miya replied, arching a brow at you. “You were the one who asked to come, you know, and it’ll be dark soon.”
You sighed apprehensively, pursing your lips and staring into the space ahead of you, your board resting underneath your foot. Gathering your courage, you nodded resolutely. “Right. Let’s do this.”
Miya gave you a skeptical look.
“Okay, fine.” You threw your arms in the air in surrender. “I’m just not convinced I’m not going to faceplant and die. Or I won’t be able to stop and get hit by something and die. Or I’ll accidentally run into something and die-“
Miya , exasperated, raised his hands in the air. “Okay, okay, I get the picture- although all of those scenarios are really unlikely to happen. But seriously, you’ll be fine- I’m here to catch you if anything goes wrong.” He paused to look into your eyes, making sure you understood him. “We’re just going over the most basic of basics, ‘kay?”
You remained quiet for a while. “What if I embarrass myself and end up looking stupid?”
“Then I’ll laugh.”
“Miya!”
He smirked. “Kidding. Anyways, we’re starting now- I hope you’ve got your nerves together. Make sure your gear is on tight before we start- especially since you’re a beginner.”
You nodded, pushing your helmet down onto your head and adjusting your knee and elbow pads. “I’ve got it.”
Miya nodded as well before moving his skateboard out beside him. “Good. Okay, when you’re about to skate, there are two main positions people take…”
Since then, you’d been out to the skate park with Miya almost every day- sometimes practicing, sometimes just goofing off- and over the course of two weeks, you had the basics mastered. Then, after three months, you had an intermediate knowledge of skating. And finally, after six months of practice and studying six out of seven days a week, you were almost at the same level as Miya. Your fear of it had gradually disappeared- although you still tended to avoid overly extravagant tricks and high ramps. You still didn’t want to race in the “S.” But now you could tag along with your boyfriend and his friends whenever they went out to skate for fun, and on private dates with just you and Miya. And that was enough for you.

Miya & Y/n’s day out
a/n; this is a loverboy filler, but it can be read as it’s own thing!! folks on the lb taglist, I don’t tag on fillers! PLATONIC!!!
Tumblr media
"Do you want to go to a cat cafe?" You asked suddenly, nudging Miya's shoulder. "My treat, of course."
He bites his tongue to keep himself from answering too enthusiastically. "Sure, if you're paying."
He finds himself waiting for you on a bench outside said cafe, he can barely hold in his excitement when he catches a glimpse of a cat in one of the circular windows displaying the inside. He checks his phone twice for any texts or calls from you, murmuring in anticipation when he receives an 'around the corner!' text.
"Sorry, Miya!" You heaved out, resting your hands on your knees as you catch your breath. "Some guy held me up." It was Kojiro, he wanted to tag along, you promised you'd go another day. "Sorry, if you were waiting long."
Miya only shakes his head, pushing you towards the door. "It's fine."
"You know I'm starting to think you're using me for my money, and the free access to cats."
"What? That's ridiculous." He says, reaching for the wallet-shaped item in your pocket. "I would never do such a thing."
Swatting his hand away with a laugh, you turned to the man at the front counter. Miya has his back towards you, his eyes are dead focused on a cream-colored cat stalking around. He wants to pet it.
"Here's a ticket voucher for one free drink, please enjoy!" The man exclaimed, gesturing to the wide doors that separated the registers to the main lobby.
"Thank you." You called back, struggling to put back your change as Miya dragged you to the doors. "Okay, I'll get the drinks, what do you want?"
"Vanilla milkshake." He answers quickly, beelining for the fluffy cream cat from before.
There's an amused expression on your face when the cat stalks forward to meet him in the middle, snapping a quick photo when he holds the cat up to his face.
You look down when a cat nudges against your calf, fawning when it purrs and holds its head up to look at you. Squatting down to pet it, you coo, eliciting a meow from it.
You ignored the camera shutter and quiet curse from beside you.
Miya decides to leave when the sun sets, sipping on the half-drunken vanilla shake he got. Despite this being the first time you two have hung out together, alone, there's a serene silence that accompanies you. You'd expected at least a bit of awkwardness really, but there hasn't been any.
"When you first met Reki and Langa, what was your first impression of them?" He asks suddenly, you can tell from his face he means nothing more than genuine curiosity.
You hum, "I didn't like Reki much at first, he was too ambitious for my liking." Miya laughs quietly at your answer, "With Langa, it was pretty normal. I didn't have anything against him, I mean. They were my first friends for a while, I pushed everyone else out so it was hard to get used to it again."
Miya keeps his lowered eyes on the sidewalk.
"But I'm glad I'm opening up again, it's really no fun being alone." You nudge his shoulder when he gets too quiet, bringing your hand up to his head. "And now that we're somewhat friends, you're gonna have a hard time getting rid of me."
He knocks your hand off when you ruffle his hair, frowning from the way his hair stood up in his shadow. "If you take me to more cat cafes, I wouldn't mind your presence."
"Is that so?" You laugh, shoving your hands in your pockets. "I don't mind that. As long as I get to spend more time with you we could go to every cat cafe in Japan."
He turns his head away from you to hide the embarrassment written on his face. "Save that talk for Reki."
"What's that mean?" You ask, tilting your head in confusion.
Miya sighs. Shadow was right, you are clueless. "Nothing."
You continue the walk in silence, it's comforting. Miya's shoulder bumps against yours while you do, you don't bother to move.
He waves at you from his bedroom window, looking behind him before sticking his middle finger at you. You turn on your heel with a shake of your head, at least he feels comfortable enough to do that.
"Welcome home," Abuela says, stirring a pot on the stove. "Did you have fun?"
You drop the bag you had in your hands on the counter, walking around it to press a kiss on her cheek. "Lots. I think we're gonna get along."
She hums with a smile, patting your hands before continuing to work.
A calm day was a success in your book. Who knew what was in store for tomorrow.

i'm not sure if you've read tsukasa's most recent event too, but just in case, they had met a shy but talented actor named Bakuno Reki there. He had invited WxS to apply to be extras in the movie he was going to star in, which the troupe was accepted for. The original plan was to show up to set, learn more about movie production, be background characters for like two scenes, and then peace out. This is not what happened.
The director ended up inviting WxS to join the team part time as stagehands, assisting with props, set-up, and minor tasks. They decided to accept in order to learn even more about a new style of acting and production.
It was pretty hard work, tbh. The director was quite strict with expectations and it's just hard in general, but they all found the work to be rewarding. Tsukasa and Nene enjoyed learning more about the differences in acting through film (non-chronological, which requires different approaches to displaying growth and emotional connection), and Emu learned a lot about scheduling and administration! Rui wants to learn more about directing, but it's a bit hard to do from the sidelines.
A little ways into the project, the director realizes Rui's passion for directing and drive to absorb every piece of information like a sponge. He decides to accept Rui as a directing assistant for the rest of the project. It's even harder work, but Rui accepts without a second thought.
Nothing really major happens until the day they film the climax. The story they are filming is an adaptation of a novel about a boy, depressed and unsatisfied with daily life, who wants to disappear into the sea, suddenly having his life flipped upside down by a mysterious girl claiming to be his long-lost sister. Slowly, through the light of her joy, he learns to love life, piece by piece. The climax scene occurs at an airport, after the sister leaves with no warning. The boy follows her there and asks why, why would she go, why abandon him after everything? (She has a terminal illness and thought leaving like this would be the most painless way to separate. She hadn't meant to get so attached to him when she first contacted.) It's a pretty emotionally heavy scene- one they can't get right. They tried all sorts of re-directions, edits, angles, but nothing managed to capture the true expression they were going for. The shoot was called of and postponed for the next day.
Rui took it upon himself to try and figure out exactly what's wrong with the scene. He pretty much shut himself in a room with the director to pour over the script (and also skipped a meal, for the second mentioned time this event.) They could not figure it out.
Suddenly, the door opens, and a strange, kinda shady former "friend" of the director walks in. He pretty much compliments the work in a very backhanded, passive aggressive way and acts all chummy towards the director, who is not having it at all. The strange man says something about. something weird. I don't actually remember. but it leaves a sort of impression on the both of them. (Later, the director mentions the fact the strange man is an old college "friend" and current stage director.)
The next day, Rin pops by to check in on the troupe, only to immediately notice Rui Did Not Sleep. He spent the entire night rewatching the current footage, past recordings of Reki's old performances, anything that could possibly help. He didn't get anywhere still.
Emu, Tsukasa, and Nene run up to Rui and hand him a bento box (though it's left unsaid, it's because they know he isn't taking care of himself and want to help him, in whatever way they can.) Emu starts talking about how fun it is they have so many different options for bento, so that everyone can grab the things they like! And, wouldn't it be so cool if they could find a way to personalize each bento to each person!!
Then Rui got it. That's why the scene was off. Though the script works well in the book, it's not suited for a performance. It's not suited for Reki. He runs off to go tell the director his revelation (never having actually accepted the bento offered to him).
Rui explains his thought process to the director, only to find he had already come to his own conclusion. He applauds Rui for making it this far, especially having only done film directing for a short while, but the change that is truly necessary is a step above what Rui suggested. Rather than change the dialogue, he wants to remove it all together. They shoot the change. It was perfect.
The event concludes with WxS watching the initial screening of the movie, really happy with the final product. The rest of the troupe is super impressed with how much Rui helped, even when he feels like he didn't contribute much at all. He wasn't able to fix the scene, after all.
After the screening and WxS's departure, the strange "friend" pops by the theater. He forces the director to show the movie, again simultaneously berating and praising it. He also asks about that "strange young kid you were working with. What's his name, Kamishiro?". He has a feeling their paths may cross again...
Overall, a pretty decent event! Not as earth-shattering as curtain call, but still carries a lot of meaning to Rui's character. It really highlighted his self-sacrificial nature and drive to learn, and how much WxS means to each other. It also sets up a potential new conflict with this mysterious shady guy. Excited to see more of him!
OH MY GOSH, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! ah this is. wow, yeah, very helpful actually!! i KNEW that guy had shit vibes...
i saw people talking about Rui's "self-sacrificing" nature but didn't know where it had come from until now!! and aww... Emu indirectly solving the problem? there's so much that can be said about how Emu and Rui are a fantastic duo who bring out the best in each other... rotating in my mind...

Ranga gained momentum and jumped into the air. The board flew with him. For a moment he felt as if he were traversing the Canadian snows again.
There was a clear sky above his head. He inhaled a breath of cold mountain air. Dark green branches lashed him as he was snowboarding. He didn't even avoid them. He scraped his cheek a little but it was nothing. The pain was gone in the cold. He'll deal with that later. Thick white snow was falling from the sky. It was lying on the hat and scarf. He brushed it off every time he came back upstairs but it soaked his jacket. His mother managed to scold him for this before she went to dinner. He should have joined her and dad but he still wanted to snowboard. Each time he told himself it would be the last time. He wasn't hungry. He still felt the pleasant warmth in his stomach from the hot chocolate he had recently drank. It was dark brown, aromatic and spiced with cinnamon. He also got double the amount of marshmallows. The lady at the café had always considered him her regular customer. Favourite drink made the afternoon even better. He was standing in line for the ski lift and reached out to catch a snowflake. Apparently they were unique. He strained his eyes, trying to see if the one he caught was really special. Against the background of the navy blue glove, he saw six arms. He couldn't judge...
— Hasegawa-kun!
He fell onto the concrete. The memory ended in a split second. He was in Japan. The board had wheels. It didn't run smoothly through the snow. It's not a snowboard.
— Are you all right? — Kyan shook his hand.
— I'm fine.
The kickflip didn't work out. Once again, he chose the wrong amount of force. The rotation should have been a full but he only completed three-quarters of it.
His right leg was throbbing in pain. He rested his entire weight on it when he fell. He will certainly start the weekend with a huge bruise.
— You're terribly distracted today. Dude, what's wrong with you?
The boy didn't know what to answer. His friend was right. All afternoon he thought about everything but preparing for the race. He should strive to be equal to Adam. This was what he had wanted all last week but today something was distracting him from thinking  about S.
Involuntarily he turned his head towards the distant bench. He passed by it every day. Its appearance was not encouraging. He had no doubt that there might have been more than one splinter hidden there. The paint was a nasty, dark yellow color. It was peeling off in patches. Plus a sick tree that is constantly shedding its leaves and flocks of ravens. Nobody wanted to sit in such a setting. Otherwise, the area was deserted. The former apartment blocks were demolished. Now there were only warehouses and an old skate park. Boards and roller skates took over this area a long time ago. That's what Joe told him once.
That's why he was so surprised by the girl reading the book. He hadn't seen a single person in this place since he came to town. He felt intrigued.
This did not escape Reki's attention.
— I see how things are going — he said with the air of an expert. — A girl caught your eye.
— Not at all! — Ranga turned his head. — I don't even know her.
He grabbed the skateboard and went back to training. He hoped that this would distract his friend from the topic. He felt heat on his face. He had been blushing since childhood. Some people thought it was cute but he didn't like how much his own body could betray him.
— I can tell — Kyan teased. — Her name is [Reader]-san. She comes here sometimes. She always sits in the same place and has a book with her. I'm not surprised you haven't seen her yet. The last time she was here was before you arrived. — He put his arm around him. — I got to know her but whenever I wanted to talk longer, she said she had to go...
Ranga knew how pushy the boy could be. His stubbornness exceeded healthy limits.
— How many times have you tried?
— Six or so. — He scratched his head.
— No wonder she hasn't been here for almost two months. — Hasegawa laughed.
It was a mistake. A familiar smile appeared on Reki's face. It portended trouble.
— Today will be the seventh. Lucky numbers don't lie. And besides, we'll go there together.
His friend tightened his grip around his neck. Thus he forced him to follow him. Protests and begging were in vain. He didn't manage to break free.
— Hi!
At the sound of a familiar voice, [Reader] closed her book.
— Hi! — she replied not very enthusiastically.
— Long time no see. I came to introduce you to my new friend. He recently moved here. [Reader]-san, this is Hasegawa Ranga. Hasegawa-kun, this is [Reader].
The boy bowed. He felt embarrassed. They interrupted the girl while reading. She didn't seem annoyed but she was definitely confused. Probably like him, she didn't like meeting new people.
— I read 'The North Wind,' too — he said, wanting to break the silence. — I liked the way it dealt with difficult topics. I didn't expect the ending at all.
The blue cover was eye-catching. He recognized it immediately.
— It's quite a niche title. — She looked at him with surprise.
— I'm from Canada.
The author of the book also came from there. She set the action in his native country. Accordingly, sales in the Maple Leaf Country were phenomenal.
He bought the book a few months ago. He didn't like this kind of entertainment but he needed something to occupy his mind. After the loss of his father, he sometimes wandered aimlessly around the house. He couldn't sit still. He didn't want his mother to worry, so he decided to try his hand at reading. He didn't read the pages at an alarming rate but the plot really captivated him. He didn't expect the secrets hidden by the main character at all and that was what fascinated him the most.
— Damn, Shadow's here. We should get going. — Kyan seemed really disappointed.
Apparently, he has already realized that another chance to deepen this acquaintance is gone.
There was another race that night. Higa promised to take them with him. They had to beg him to let them sit in his car at all. He cared for it more than he cared for his skateboard, even though it was a piece of junk. Strange sounds were coming from it, indicating that it was high time to visit a mechanic. Once it didn't even want to start. They almost missed S. They once tried to open a bag of chips quietly in the backseat. Hiromi went crazy and told them to vacuum up every last crumb. They wasted the entire afternoon.
— [Reader]-san, you should come over sometime to see how we skate.
— Guys, how long do I have to wait for you? — There was impatience in the driver's voice.
Reki moved ahead, trying to calm Shadow down.
— I'm sorry if we intruded — the words came out of Langa's mouth — and for my friend. Sometimes he can be pushy but he wants the best.
— Did you really think so? — She blinked in disbelief. — That I don't want to talk to you?
Now he really felt stupid. He assumed that was the case. He basically had nothing to prove it. It just seemed the most logical thing to do. Especially after what he heard earlier. After all, six times is enough to make it clear that you don't want to see someone.
— I know it looks weird but something really bothered me every time I tried to talk to Kyan-kun. I can't really explain it but I hope he doesn't mind...
— Of course not. — He tried to save the situation. — He'd be very happy if you came to the skate park.
— It's just that... ummm... He really likes to skate and I... I can't. Actually, I really don't like skateboards… — She looked at the ground.
— We can teach you. And even if not, just come and read on the bench next to it. We have better light than under this tree. — He smiled encouragingly.
Suddenly, a loud honk sounded in their ears.
— Are you coming with us or are you going alone?! — my friend shouted.
— I'm coming! — he shouted back. — I should get going. It was nice to meet you. — He turned to leave.
As he took a step, a silent question stopped him:
— Hasegawa-kun, do you love skateboarding?
He turned towards her and nodded.
— Why? — She clutched the book tightly.
The boy thought of that strange, mysterious feeling he felt every time he started skateboarding. He couldn't describe it in words. It wasn't just a wooden board with wheels. It was about something more.
— I was a bit like the heroine of North Wind... Lonely and lost. I thought the best was far behind me... but skateboarding showed me that wasn't true. It pulled me out of a black hole when I thought there was nothing for me. It rescued me. It gave me a friend, good memories and a new purpose. It's more than I could ever want.
Another loud honk from Higa's car signaled that he was pushing it.
— See you! — he said and ran towards the car.
He didn't see it but the girl stared at the skate park for a long time after he left.
***
Reki was very surprised to see [Reader] on a bench by the skatepark.
— Have you come to see how we fly? — he asked enthusiastically.
— Hasegawa-kun said there's better light for reading here. I came by to see if it was true. — She looked away.
Something slightly stung him. He knew this feeling. It was jealousy. Faint and inconspicuous but still. Deep down he told himself that he had a right. He tried to contact the girl many times. He invited her several times but she never came. And now all Ranga had to do was show up and it was a success. As if that wasn't enough, he was surpassing him in his favourite discipline. Just two months ago he was a novice. A total rookie. He couldn't even keep his balance on the board. Kyan became the teacher of a helpless friend. But now the student has surpassed the master. There was nothing new left for him to show him.
— We're going to practice. — Ranga smiled.
He did it naturally. As if he didn't have to think about this reaction at all.
— Look at us sometime! — Reki said.
His smile was different. Stuck to his face. Forced.
He began to wonder when they had switched roles. At what point did he stop being that fun guy, always ready to cheer someone up?
He gripped the board tightly, that worn-out piece of wood that had brought him so much joy. He installed special wheels himself. He looked at the surface covered with bright sprays. They recently renovated it together. A friend helped him choose colours and patterns. They spent a fun afternoon together in the garage.
He pushed hard with his left leg. He only knew one way to deal with problems — skating. His Grinds needed some refinement. He decided to focus on them but unwanted thoughts kept pushing into his head.
He didn't want to get angry at his friend. It would be rude to blame him for something he had no control over. Especially since he had been having fun with Hasegawa for a long time. They went to school together, spent time and talked about their common passion. In addition, they were connected by illegal racing. He couldn't remember the last time so many strange but good things had happened in his life.
Only recently had he been poisoned by thoughts of being inferior. He tried to explain to himself that it was only in this one aspect. After all, he couldn't beat someone's talent with hard work alone. No matter how hard he tried, it became clear that Hasegawa would be one step ahead of him in skateboarding.
But now it seemed like another thing he cared about was being taken away.
He quickly reprimanded himself for these words. Thinking about girls objectively was inappropriate. It made him feel even worse.
He tried to repeat Benihana again. Fingers slipped off the edge of the board. He desperately tried to make it but instead of a stable surface, his foot hit the air. It seemed to him that everything around him froze for a moment. It was as if time stopped for a split second. Immediately afterwards, he fell onto the hard concrete.
— Shit — he muttered quietly.
— Everything's all right? — Ranga shouted.
— I'ts cool!
[Reader] put her book down on the bench, took her bag and walked over to him.
— Does it hurt a lot? — She crouched down.
— It's nothing. A skater without bruises is like a soldier without a gun.
She snorted quietly, trying to hide it with her hand.
It wasn't the first or last time he hurt himself. Sports were associated with injuries. From an early age he was accustomed to scratches and wounds.
He twisted his head back with all his might, trying to see what condition his right arm was in. Some blood and dirt but otherwise everything seemed fine.
— I can patch it up if you want. — She grabbed her bag.
— Wouldn't you rather watch Hasegawa-kun skate? — The sarcastic comment left his mouth before he could stop himself.
[Reader] blinked a few times.
He felt stupid. What's been going on with him lately? He was fed up with himself.
— Sorry. Forget I said anything.
— That's okay. — She took out a bottle, gauze and a bandage.
— Do you have a whole first aid kit inside? — He looked at it all with wide eyes.
He sometimes saw girls carrying plasters with them. Usually in case your feet get chafed by high heels. He wondered why they were doing this to themselves. They might look nice but he wouldn't trade his comfortable, worn-out sneakers for high heels.
However, it was much more than the average contents of the bag.
— It's because... I'm clumsy. You know... I fall a lot and stuff like that — she said quietly.
— Is that why you wear long sleeves even in the summer?
He hadn't even realized he had noticed it before. He had looked in her direction far too often over the last few months.
— Yes but... never mind — she said.
[Reader] soaked the gauze. She gently grabbed his hand and began to wash the red spot.
— Ouch! — He got away.
— It must sting a little.
— It hurts. I thought you had Octenisept or something. Maybe we'll leave it as it is? — he suggested, feeling tears welling up in the corners of his eyes.
She looked at him scoldingly. He felt like a little child.
— Hydrogen peroxide is cheaper. Why spend money unnecessarily? — She shrugged. — Let me finish this, otherwise it will get infected.
So he endured the unpleasant feeling. He didn't hiss once. He didn't want to seem like a terrible wimp.
[Reader] handled the dressing efficiently. She must have had a lot of experience.
— I have to go back or I'll be late. — She looked nervously at her watch.
Kyan noticed that it looked quite old. The model was definitely from last decade. This intrigued him. Is she following some strange fashion? But he had never seen her dressed in anything particularly special before. She usually wore her school uniform or a comfortable sweatshirt and pants. So he concluded that the item probably had some sentimental value.
— About that question from earlier… — She hesitated, as if she wasn't entirely sure whether she should answer. — Hasegawa-kun skates well but I think you enjoy it more. I wanted to see if a board could actually bring joy to someone. When I look at you, I think it's really possible.
She left him with these words and a bandaged arm. From that moment until the evening, every trick was perfect.
***
— You should try it! — Reki insisted.
He still didn't really know how he should feel about his skateboarding. But that didn't mean he would stop encouraging others to try. Especially since [Reader] didn't seem like enough competition to undermine his self-esteem even more.
— I don't know...
The girl looked at the board uncertainly. She promised herself so many times that she would stay away from the hated sport. However, it found her, even though she wanted to hide from it all her life.
— I'll hold your hand the whole time if you're scared. — He grinned.
— Maybe it would be better — Hasegawa emphasized — if I held her hand. When I was learning, he also promised me that it would be safe. Guess what happened next...
— He let you go and you hit the ground?
— Exactly. — He looked reprimandingly at the teacher.
— I wouldn't let her go — Kyan said back. — Anyway it doesn't matter. I can always belay.
The mention of how he had helped  his friend's courage made him feel a little ashamed. He had various ideas came to him on the spur of the moment. It was true that he planned to make the student independent a little too quickly but he did not want to harm him. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. He never expected them to come back to this topic, especially now.
Ultimately, [Reader] was convinced. At first she wobbled slightly but it soon turned out that neither a hand nor securing the back was needed. She didn't fall even once. Ranga saw nothing strange about it. After all, despite his talent, he had only recently started working on the subject. Reki, however, was different.
— You've never skated before? — He asked.
The girl looked away and got off the board.
— Maybe a long time ago, when I was a child. I don't remember — she mumbled.
He felt that this was not the complete answer. Not entirely a lie but not honesty either. But who was he to demand the whole truth?
— I guess that's enough for today — he said, wanting to cut the topic short. — Beautiful girls shouldn't have sore muscles...
He felt like an idiot. He felt as if his brain had stopped working for a moment. Or worse yet, it disappeared. Such texts were served in films, not in real life. Even if he thought she was beautiful. What if she thinks he's being pushy? Or that he only sees beauty in her? And she won't want to come to the skate park anymore... How do you apologize for such things? Is it possible that he's about to have a heart attack?
He felt as if his thoughts were flying through his head at the speed of a speeding skateboard. He couldn't utter a single word. Now he was sure that he had switched roles with Hasegawa. After all, Reki always knew what to say. It doesn't matter if it was a teacher at school where he was driving illegally, or Adam during a race. And now he was stunned.
She blinked three times before realizing what he said. He knew because he counted. The moment seemed to drag on mercilessly.
— Nobody... has ever...
He wanted to sink into the ground. He even considered taking his skateboard and running off to the nearest street.
—...told me I looked beautiful. Thanks, Kyan-kun. — She smiled shyly.
The joy and relief after these words were comparable to winning in S.
***
Ranga passed red, orange and yellow trees planted along the sidewalk. The sun rose lazily in the cool, crisp air. The morning was going to be cold. Fortunately, he took his jacket from home. He looked to the side. Neighbours were cleaning their lawns. This reminded him that he had promised to help his mother when he returned home. Autumn in Japan looked beautiful but nothing will clean itself up. A few lone, dry leaves flew past his head.
He was driving to school, reading a book. On one hand, he was afraid of being fined but on the other, he got so into it that he couldn't stop. He hoped he would be able to finish the chapter in class. The teacher was slow. Maybe if he hides the novel behind the cover of a textbook, he will somehow succeed. [Reader] gave him this advice. After all, it was thanks to her that he found pleasure in his new activity. He wanted to go out with her sometime in the afternoon. However, he was aware that it would be a good idea to invite Reki. The three of them usually spent time together and it became so common that they almost never saw each other in a different lineup. Lately, he's been having thoughts about what it would be like to see a girl alone. Would it be like betraying a friend? He wasn't blind enough to not see the interest Kyan was showing in her. There was something in the air. But why would he give up a potential opportunity? In the end, no official statement was made from either side. [Reader] might as well not have been interested in his friend in that way.
He yawned. At Japanese lesson, he will definitely be a zombie. He just hoped he wouldn't fall asleep. Yesterday he helped prepare a birthday present until late.
He found a dedication in the book he borrowed from the girl. The date made it clear that the holiday was today. They didn't have much time. So he and a friend rolled up their sleeves and decided to make a skateboard for her. She didn't want to buy her own because she said it was a waste of money. Borrowing wasn't an ideal solution either because someone always had to sit. They needed something more to ride as a three. So Reki put all his technical know-how together and happily began assembling the pieces he ordered online and purchased from Dope Sketch. They begged Oke-san for a discount. He gave it, although with a heavy heart. Hasegawa couldn't help with the building, so he started decorating. He designed a pattern on a piece of paper and then sprays and stickers were used. He even managed to find a few themes related to the books she told him about. He hoped it would make her feel more like the board belonged to her. After all, individualism was an important part of skateboarding.
Finally, they found an unused box in the garage and put the work inside. By the time they wrapped it in paper, it was already three a.m. Ranga had to be saved by coffee in partnership with an energy drink in the morning but he did not regret it. He hoped that the work would pay off and he would soon see a happy birthday girl.
***
Hasegawa had the gift under his arm and wondered if he looked weird skating with it. Mainly because people looked at him with interest. However, it was more likely that it was his unusual beauty that attracted attention. He was often mistaken for a tourist. It was also often assumed that he could not speak Japanese.
His friend was whizzing past him. He performed tricks every now and then. He wasn't surprised. The ride itself got boring quite quickly. Plus, Kyan was bursting with energy. He could see how much he was looking forward to the surprise reveal. He was also overexcited. Unfortunately, instead of handing over the package, they wandered around an unknown area.
[Reader] wrote that she wouldn't be able to come to the skate park today. So they decided to come to her house. Only then did they realize that they didn't know the exact address. The girl didn't reply to any messages, so they took matters into their own hands (or rather, feet). They headed towards the housing estate she had once mentioned. They asked people in the area, hoping someone would point them to a suitable apartment.
The milkman brought them happiness. The old man had the best years of his life behind him. Gray, bearded and wrinkled, he pushed forward tirelessly. His hunched back showed how many years he had been riding a bicycle with a trailer. They lined up with him.
— [Reader]? I know them. — They never buy from me — he muttered. They live this way, two blocks from here. Quite a big house, you definitely won't miss it.
They thanked him. They were tired of wandering around in unfamiliar territory. As a token of gratitude, each of them bought a bottle of a white, still cool drink.
They texted [Reader] that they would be over soon. They hoped that she would read it and come out to meet them.
They followed the instructions they received. The man was right. There was no mistaking the buildings. Although the house was small, it stood out from the others. The gate was richly decorated. There were bushes in the garden, shaped strangely. Even the paving stones looked like an expensive mosaic. A decorative wreath of colourful flowers was hung on the door. Instead of a bell, they found an old-fashioned knocker. Without thinking, they grabbed the boards under their arms and knocked.
— Hey, are we singing for she’s a jolly good fellow? — Ranga whispered.
He didn't have time to receive an answer.
A tall and slim woman appeared in the doorway. She tied her dark hair in a distinguished bun. An elegant purple dress billowed behind her as the autumn air flowed into the hallway. The only thing spoiling her appearance was her aquiline nose, giving her face a stern expression. She looked at them suspiciously.
— Good morning. Mrs. [Reader]? — Reki made sure.
— That's right — she nodded. — But I don't want to buy anything from you — she grumbled, looking around the box. — I already have pots, vacuum cleaners, juicer... — she started to list.
— You misunderstood us. We are looking for our friend — [Reader].
He described her appearance in hopes that it would help.
— My niece? — The tone of voice changed immediately. She became even colder than when she started. — She sent you to get money? — She laughed hysterically. — You can tell her and my brother that they won't get a penny from me! He deserved everything. He didn't have to get drunk. I always told him that his damn sport wouldn't do him any good but why listen to your older sister? He ruined his life and destroyed his family...
They didn't know what to do with themselves. They were sure it was about their friend. But what exactly was this woman talking about? It was inappropriate to interrupt her. They couldn't leave either, having gotten themselves into this strange situation. So they stood there, listening to the tirade.
Hasegawa felt like they shouldn't be here at all right now. It all sounded like a family affair and they weren't part of it. He was about to say goodbye when [Reader] appeared behind him. Apparently she finally read the message. She ran out of one of the neighbouring houses. Compared to the mansion they stood in front of, the building looked repulsive.
— What are you doing here? — There was horror in her eyes.
Tears glistened in the corners of her eyes. She clumsily tried to wipe them with the sleeve of her old, worn-out sweater.
She came running, hoping that she would somehow manage to get the boys out of the area. However, it was too late. Her aunt said what she wanted. The truth came to light. There was nothing to cover up. Especially since the red mark from the impact was still visible on his cheek. Stories about falling down stairs or tripping on the road will not help.
— Come back here! — Mr. [Reader]'s scream echoed throughout the road.
He was staggering. He held cheap wine in his hand. The remnants of the red liquid danced in the bottle with each unsteady step.
This sight was nothing new. Her biggest regret was that her friends had to watch it. There was a reason she stayed away from people. Because of her father, no one wanted to associate with someone like her.
Ranga was stunned for a moment. He felt like he was watching a movie. It was hard for him to believe that he was witnessing this whole situation. He was aware that such things happened to people. However, the whole idea was unrealistic because he had never experienced it. And now it turned out that someone around him was a victim and it turned everything he knew up to now upside down.
Every bruise and wound took on significance. Carrying a first aid kit for emergencies was a must. He understood why the girl spent so much time away from home. Escaping into the world of books was the only way out. It also occurred to him that he had never seen her in the company of her friends or acquaintances. Suddenly canceling meetings for strange reasons finally made sense. The antipathy towards the board didn't come out of nowhere either.
When he realized that the father was going to raise his hand against his daughter, he stood in his way. He felt a rush of adrenaline. His body moved on impulse. Kyan did exactly the same. The gift box took the brunt of the impact. Then he only remembered a mixture of screams, a struggle and a call to the police. When the officer arrived, he was still in shock but relieved.
***
— That's funny — [Reader] said. — Failing at skateboarding destroyed my father, so I learned to hate it. And now a skateboard saved me.
She looked at the piece of wood on wheels under her feet. It seemed that she would like this sport as much as reading.
— Are you sure you want to stay with your aunt? I'm sure my mother wouldn't mind if you stayed with us for a while. — Hasegawa adjusted his leg position.
— I don't know what exactly touched my aunt. Maybe she just felt stupid that strangers defended me and my family didn't do anything. Anyway... — She tried to jump up, keeping her balance. — We talked for a long time about everything. I can stay there. Now that they have issued me with a blue card, things should be calmer.
— We'll see to that — Ranga said.
— Let's not talk about it for now. Today I just want to skate.
Tomorrow she was going to see a psychologist. There was no way to prepare for this. She was afraid of it but she also had hope.
She took a deep breath of cool air. The world looked completely different in the rush. The colours blurred in her eyes. She wanted to forget about everything for a moment. Not having to worry about the past. Some old thoughts lurked in the back of her mind. About the fact that there may be a great unknown at home — apparent order or wild madness. So that she had to meekly stay out of people's way. Just in case. Now the financial problems were finally no longer on her shoulders and she felt strangely about it. She didn't have to wonder how she was going to pay the next month's rent. She even got pocket money. She was still afraid to spend it as if it would become necessary in a moment. Sleep became strangely peaceful. So much so that sometimes she couldn't even go to bed. She no longer went to sleep to the accompaniment of screams alternating with apologies and false promises of a better tomorrow. She knew the present was normal but she still couldn't fully accept it. It was impossible to suddenly erase years of violence, alcohol and pain. But she was going to try.
She looked at the guys skating next to her. She believed that everything would work out with them by her side.

SK8 ~Golden Week: Showing Spain. The big party~ - 05/05/23 (May 5th in Spain ~ Last day) [Part 1/2]
Ainosuke as promised day they celebrated his birthday (Sunday in Spain, during afternoon where in Japan it was May 1st) is showing a bit of Spain to everyone in Golden Week, and this was last day, day 5.
You can read below cut line part 1 of 2 or complete on our Blogger where you can see too extras of Day 5. (From me and @van-yangyin)
Blogger: English | Español
You can read below cut line ↓
Everything written at the end with this * symbol, is Spanish conversation.
Thursday night, Olé family came to visit the guys. José sat down with Ainosuke in front of the campfire to talk about the last full day they would be in Spain.
José: Well, let us schedule tomorrow, you won't regret it.*
Ainosuke: As we talked about that time.... You don't have any bulls available, do you?*
José: No, but if you promise me that will come back to Spain again, we will try to contact a friend of ours, although what you tell me you want to do is very reckless!*
That said, after talking for a while longer, they said goodbye and went to rest, so that they would be fully energized the next day.
Tumblr media
Friday, May 5th in Spain. Everyone was with renewed energy, especially after the previous day's off-camera evening. They woke up at 6:30 a.m., got dressed and at 8 a.m. José and the rest arrived to guide and take them to various places.
Tumblr media
They arrived at the first stop and first thing they did was to go hiking. Magdalena told them that last time she couldn't show them the nature of her village as she would have liked and today was a good day, since the weather was nice, it was neither hot nor cold.
Reki: Do we have to walk?
Langa: Can't we go skateboarding?
Miya: My legs are sporty, but I don't know if they can stand walking for a long time...
Tumblr media
So they walked along and found a small pond.
Miya: It's hot, can I put my feet in it?
Kojiro: But take your...
Miya: Great!
Kojiro: Shoes...
And not being able to do anything else, Kojiro let it be.
Tumblr media
Langa took the opportunity to review a bit of Japanese history.
Ainosuke: In year 794 the imperial court founded a new capital Heian-kyo, Langa-kun, do you know what the capital is called nowadays?
Langa: Mmmmh... *shakes his head* I don't remember right now.
Ainosuke: Kyoto. Langa-kun, if you ever need help in your studies, you can ask me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reki lay down to look at the clouds while feeling breeze in air.
Reki: Next time I go on a trip I'd like to go to Los Angeles or Canada with Langa.
Tumblr media
And Kojiro, Hiromi and Kaoru started talking.
Kaoru: Come on Kojiro, you must admit that that shirt suits you very well, everything that has something of mine on it, is perfect. Even if it's worn by a gorilla and deformed on your body.
Kojiro: Kaoru, saying this doesn't make it any better....
Kaoru: Well, I "proudly" wear the design of the shirt to promote Sia la Luce.
Kojiro: Where we are now, it's not like it's going to do much promotion...
Kaoru: But it's green, I can camouflage myself. And with my pink hair it matches very well.
Kojiro: Santa Madonna.
Hiromi: «Here we go again... They look like a married couple with many years of marriage and they've only been married for a year and a half.... Oka... I miss you...» - thinking.
Tumblr media
Kojiro: Oh, wait. Nicola sent me a message.
Kaoru: Nicola...
Hiromi: Kaoru, you seem to be more jealous of Kojiro talking to men than to women...
Tumblr media
Magdalena: We should continue on our way.*
Tumblr media
And between Magdalena's explanations with Ainosuke and Carla's translation and continuing along the road, they finally arrived where she wanted to take them to second and last place.
Tumblr media
Magdalena: I don't know if any of you have a farm where you live or your grandparents have one, but I would like you to have the experience of helping with animals in another country.*
Ainosuke translated what Magdalena told them.
Tumblr media
Kaoru: Let me, at Kojiro's grandfather's farm sometimes we had to feed them.
Kojiro: I don't remember it in the same way... It was just me who...
Kaoru: Who begged me to feed them, of course.
He started feeding them.
Kaoru: Shit! I mean... *ahem* It's okay, relax... All right, you just need to relax...
Tumblr media
Kaoru: And now that she's relaxed we'll try again. See? I have practice...
Tumblr media
Reki on the other hand was helping Albert to spray the plants, who had previously taught him the best way to do it.
Reki: This is fun! Not as much as skateboarding though.... But it's also relaxing.
Tumblr media
Inside the house José was teaching Tadashi how to make "Olé's pancakes".
Tadashi: Mr. José, I would like to make a special request. Since you have offered to teach me how to make your pancakes, I would like them to be a special shape...* «Although Ainosuke-sama does not say so, I know he likes Hello Kitty...» - thinking - Could you teach me how to make pancakes in the shape of Hello Kitty?*
José: Hello Kitty? What's that?
Tadashi: Wait, I'll look it up on Internet and show you.
José: Sure! It's that kitty that Pilar likes so much. In the shape of Hello Kitty, that's done. I've made that dessert for my granddaughter so many times.
And when they finished making it, they called everyone to eat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmen: «Jose says that Señorito Ainosuke's secretary has helped him, how good it has turned out.*» - thinking. Señorito: Like Young Master.
Tumblr media
Ainosuke: «This was Tadashi's doing.» - thinking.
Tumblr media
Hiromi: It looks good!
Ainosuke: Tadashi made it, of course it looks good.
Tumblr media
Carmen: Hey, niño! You all are very good in different fields, what else do you know how to do? If you weren't his secretary, we would hire you here in a heartbeat.* Niño: literally translated as kiddo, affectionate way for some older people to call a person younger than themselves.
Tadashi: Nothing special, I just like to serve my master.*
Carmen: You love him very much, don't you? If you get married, you must to invite us to your wedding.*
Tadashi: *ahem* Of course...*
Carmen: Or are you already married?*
Tumblr media
Hiromi: «It's as good as the sweets Joe sometimes makes!» - thinking.
Tumblr media
After finishing eating, Ainosuke went outside because he also wanted to try what Kaoru did in the barnyard. Although on the way we can see how Reki is finishing his meal while still spraying the plants.... He seems to have taken a liking to it.
Tumblr media
And Ainosuke made friends with the rooster right away.
Ainosuke: This is easier than Cherry made it look. Why lie, I'm perfect in everything, and in this I couldn't be less.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reki went after Ainosuke and just like him, made friends with the rooster the first time. It seems that at the end Kaoru the expert, was the most inexperienced of the three, either that or the hen he addressed was as stubborn as he was.
Tumblr media
Then it was Langa's turn, who also wanted to pet one of the hens or roosters in the barnyard. And just like all the others, the rooster let himself be petted the first time. Could it be that rooster is the docile one and they all are heading the same one?
Tumblr media
Kojiro obviously didn't want to miss the opportunity, his grandparents had a farm.
Kojiro: My grandmother would like you very much, I'm sure you are punctual in the morning to wake up the day.
Tumblr media
And finally it was Miya who also had no problem. Hiromi and Tadashi didn't want to participate. The former because:
Hiromi: I can't go as Shadow right now!
Miya: Why do you want to be Shadow?
Hiromi: Be.. Because... *yelling* Because it gives me courage!
Miya: Well, it didn't cost you anything to yell at me with courage....
As for the second one:
Tadashi: My duty is to protect Ainosuke-sama from any danger. I can't afford to waste my time on that kind of thing.
Tumblr media
Once everyone had finished feeding the hens and roosters, it was time for them to rest in their coop. They went to the entrance to go back home and celebrate the night before the next day arrived, when they had to get ready to leave. And this time they drove all the way to the entrance.

Sk8 Rewatch Ep8
No, Adam, there is no one is the world who was created just for you. You’re looking for a doll/plaything, not a human being.
Tumblr media
See, now that? That’s a moon. I don’t know what the hell that was from Ep6.
Tumblr media
Wow, there are a lot of fruits at S.
Shadow: He’s [Reki] scared to race against Adam. *Laughs* Shadow, you’re the one who took him to the hospital and visibly sighed in the relief that he was okay.
Tumblr media
Love how the people on the left are standing as far away from Adam as possible. Notice, how the people on Miya’s side are a bit closer as well since they’re not within Adam’s reach.
You know I think I’d be able to feel a bit more sympathy for Adam if his aunts version of love was the only one he knew. But that’s not what happened. He was loved by Tadashi, Kaoru, and Kojiro all normally, so it’s not like he doesn’t know other forms of love, this is all very much a choice.
Another reason I can’t feel sympathy is his pedophilia. Like, Adam believes that Langa is his Eve, right? Which means they’ll soon go to The Zone/Eden/The World Only For The Two Of Us. So, why is he excited for Miya to “bloom” so he can fall in love with him. Any sympathy you could have possibly gotten from me was destroyed with that comment.
Another post I’m gonna make is Cherry’s relationship with Carla and how fandom mischaracterizes it a bit.
I’m most definitely making a post on how Cherry couldn’t beat Adam, but he was able to match him. Like, I think it will be my life’s work for this blog. (other than the fanfics I’m planning)
Ah, Tadashi, this was you at your best. I’m so sorry about the ending you got.
Aww, my poor boys.
As a person who is also a little sister, I understand Koyomi on a fundamental level.
One thing I don’t like is how the show tries to present Ainosuke’s aunts as a consequence. Like, it’s formula is: Adam hurts someone or harasses a child, but he still has to go home to his aunts! Ainosuke’s aunts are not a consequence, they are his backstory. They don’t abuse him because of his actions, they are the cause of his mentality. The only consequence he might have gotten was jail for perjury and other illegal acts, but that was shoehorned away. Some of this can be explained by Sk8 being 12 eps long, thus not given enough time to add more fundamental scenes, but god, I would have loved at least one scene where Ainosuke does anything antagonistic, faces a consequence, and it isn’t brushed off by him or thrown away by the narrative, thus staying with him for the rest of the story.
I know Tadashi probably has/had romantic feelings for Ainosuke, but honestly I can’t see them as having anything other than a platonic or familial bond, or, at the very least an unrequited one where one has romantic feelings and the other has familial/platonic.
One day I am going to make a post about how Tadashi was abused by the Shindos (including Ainosuke) just as much as Ainosuke himself was.
Shout out to Joe for doing the work Reki’s father cannot since he has to work away from home all the time!
Mom of the year! Hasegawa Nanako!
Ngl, I want Harry’s backstory. My man’s made it to the tournament no problem. Note: he had to have been the second person from Cherry’s bracket to win since we never saw anybody else cross during that run.
Sometimes I feel like Adam dislikes Joe. Like he goes “...Joe” because he’s Langa’s opponent instead of him, but I wonder if that bled over into their adolescence. Like, he wrote Joe’s name on the 3 of diamonds. I can’t help but wonder if he was also subtly calling him a third wheel like he does Reki later.
Shout out to Joe for doing the work Langa’s father cannot since he’s in a coffin six feet under in Canada!
I actually like how Joe still has a sliver of hope left for Adam, even though he probably wants to punch him more for Cherry’s sake than his own, he still cares for his old friend a tiny bit.

Summer Time (Family) Madness
It's been a hot minute, hasn't it? And it's not even new content rip. But still, have these 5k words that will replace the poorly written original chapter 2 of this trainwreck that holds a special place in my heart.
First | Chapter 2 | Next >
AO3 | Original Chapter 1  | Original Chapter 2 | Original Chapter 3 | Original Chapter 4
“Langa…”
Reki rolled onto his back, dropping his book on his face and groaning. Langa watched as the boy spread out like a starfish on his bedroom floor, not moving the book away and seeming overly dejected. He was still wrapped up in his usual yellow hoodie, sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Always that yellow hoodie, always wearing that thick sweater despite it being the end of July. He was still in that sweater, the bright yellow one that had started to fade from the overexposure to sunlight, the one that never failed to draw Langa’s eyes towards the boy. Or so that’s what he told himself as he wrapped his arms around his knees, physically holding his leg back from swinging and landing a kick to Reki’s side in an attempt to jolt the boy back to life.
Despite the summer having finally rolled around, schoolwork never stopped, which kind of sucked. There were no more of those summers where Langa would just lounge around the house, watching cable television while his parents worked. There were no more summers spent at his grandparents, summers he would spend playing in their yard. There were no more summers free of school work; Japan hadn’t caught on that the hot months of the year were supposed to be spent not thinking about school. Or maybe it was that there was so little summer heat in Canada – unlike in Japan where it was just constantly hot – that the people in charge of the education system decided to enjoy their summers not working. Langa never really got why summer meant vacation, but that wasn’t his problem. Not anymore at least, now that he had to spend his summer doing homework.
Thankfully, he had Reki to share his homework with. That was if the boy had any intentions of working on their assignments before the last day of break. Knowing Reki, he was most likely going to repeat last summer and rush through everything, resulting in a week’s worth of detention due to the poor quality of his work. And as much as Langa hated the idea of working on assignments, he wasn’t ready to miss out on a week worth of fun just because Reki hated schoolwork even more than he did.
“An hour a day. We agreed on an hour a day to get your grades up.”
“Not like yours are that much better than mine.”
Reki’s voice had been muffled by the textbook still resting on his face. If he stayed like that any longer, Langa would have expected the ink from the pages to have imprinted itself onto the boy’s face, but before he could even entertain the idea of studying off of Reki’s cheeks, he flipped onto his stomach with yet another groan. It looked almost painful for him to do, but once he was comfortable again on his floor, the textbook neatly tucked under his folded arms and chin, Reki let his eyes skirt over the words. He was back to work.
For five minutes. Reki had lasted five minutes before falling asleep, snoring softly into the gutter of his math book. The hums that usually filled the air as they studied together had been replaced by a steady breath, a sound Langa had grown far too accustomed to over the course of the year of impromptu sleepovers. It was just easier to crash in the same room after a night spent at S. It saved Reki the detour of dropping Langa off. It allowed them to catch a few extra minutes of sleep before the morning alarm started to blare in their ears. Or at least that was what Langa told himself.
With a sigh, Langa set his own book aside to poke Reki in the side. The boy yelped as he jumped, grabbing his waist in an attempt to avoid being poked again.
“Dude! What the hell? Don’t just… Don’t do that!”
“You fell asleep.”
“Yeah well, I… Maybe I need the rest! We’re supposed to be on break, after all.” A smile curled onto Langa’s lips as Reki flopped to the side, still whining. “Can’t we go out and skate instead? This is so boring.”
Langa sighed, slumping his back against Reki’s bedframe. His eyes didn’t shift away from the body on the floor, his eyes trailing across the sun-kissed skin, his gaze forming constellations with the pale freckles that ornated Reki’s face. Or at least, he did so until he noticed what he was doing. Quickly, he shook his head, the words he had meant to say finally tumbling out.
“I can’t today. My mom is going to kill me if I don’t show Emmy around like I promised.”
Reki shifted on the floor, slumping his back against his closet door to face Langa. The short-lived nap must have gotten to the boy, his eyes a little duller than usual as he stared at Langa. They lacked their usual shine of excitement, instead seeming a little foggy.
“Your girlfriend?”
“Cousin, Reki. She’s my cousin.” Langa shook his head at the boy. “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you that she’s my cousin and not my girlfriend.”
Had he lacked the self-control, Langa would have muttered something about being too gay to have a girlfriend, but instead, Langa bit his tongue and simply watched Reki squirm across from him. Maybe he should have said something. Maybe if he had said it, Reki would stop assuming every girl in his life was his girlfriend. It was always “How is it possible that you, Prince Langa, haven’t at least had a girlfriend back in Canada?” and never why he didn’t have a boyfriend. Then again, it may have been rude to assume someone was gay.
Langa huffed, thinking back to the time he had managed to render Reki speechless. It didn’t often happen, but with just enough confidence, he was capable of anything, even rendering Reki speechless. It was a surprising moment, really; he hadn’t done much besides lean closer to Reki with a smirk, asking him if he was jealous of the girl who had just asked him out. He hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from Reki, flames taking over his face as his eyes grew wide, his voice cracking over fragments of words and stammering worse than usual before stuffing his hands in the pockets of his hoodie and kicking his skateboard into motion. He had rarely raced off so quickly and Langa swore he heard Reki mutter something resembling a yes, but that must have been wishful thinking. If Reki were to be jealous, it wasn’t of the girl; he, too, deserved to be asked out and gifted chocolates and love confessions every other week, even if the thought of it made Langa’s stomach twist.
“Can I come with?” Langa blinked at the boy who was once again sprawled across the floor. “I’m just so bored at home!”
Langa shrugged, closing his textbook. Thinking he’d get any extra work done was purely hopeful and naïve thinking. “Sure, but Emmy’s not exactly… fluent in Japanese.”
“Neither are you.” There was a beat of silence. Then Reki sat up again. “Wait, no. You’re pretty fluent, just…” Reki reached out, his fingers curling around one of Langa’s notebooks and flipping through the pages. “You write like shit, dude. How do you even revise with these notes?”
Heat formed under Langa’s cheeks as he snatched his notebook back. “I’m not that bad!”
“Pretty sure the twins have better handwriting than you and they’re not even in school yet!”
“You know what?” Langa got up, half-glaring at Reki as he messily stuffed his homework back into his bag. “No, no you can’t come. You’re going to have to deal with your boredom all on your own.”
“No!” Arms wrapped around the boy’s ankles, not letting him move away from the body on the floor. “C’mon! Don’t be like that! I’m sorry! I’m just teasing!”
Sometimes, Langa’s cold exterior came in handy. It took a lot for him to crack, no matter how badly he wanted to smile or laugh. He was more than aware that Reki was just teasing him – not that he was wrong; Langa’s handwriting really was shit – but part of him wanted him to feel at least a little bit bad. Nothing major, not for too long – he wasn’t evil after all – but just for a bit. Or maybe he was evil. Was it evil to purposefully make your best friend feel bad after he just insulted your handwriting? Langa didn’t know; he had never had friends who would tease him the way Reki did.
“C’mon dude, please? Please let me come?”
“Fine.” A smile finally blossomed across Langa’s face as Reki let go of his ankles. “But I’m not translating your endless rambles about boards. You go way too fast and the words are just gonna…”
The softness of Reki’s smile as he got up to be eye level with Langa almost made him melt. “I know, man. I know you have a hard time switching between languages.”
Reki was always so understanding. While his brain was constantly buzzing, ideas bouncing around at the speed of light, Langa’s seemed to shut down at the most unfortunate times. Whenever he needed it to work for him, such as when he was put on the spot and was expected to give an answer, it just decided to go on vacation, leaving him a silent, panicking mess. Or at least, he felt like a panicking mess; others, more often than not, either assumed he was too cool to be answering questions or that he was a total airhead, which he guessed was fair. Maybe he was a little bit of an airhead at times, but most of the time, it was just his brain refusing to cooperate with him. Most of the time, it was the anxiety, or maybe it was just all those high expectations. Regardless of what it was, all he knew was that when someone asked him for an answer, he froze up.
A few people had asked how it was that he was so bad at everything except skateboarding, but he hadn’t given them an answer. Except for Reki. He had answered Reki, but that was probably because Reki had been gentler when asking how it was possible for Langa to know all the answers when it came to skateboarding. And he had answered honestly: he didn’t think then he was skating. He was good at it because he didn’t think; everything went so fast, he didn’t have time to think. He just acted, all his answers for himself and himself alone. He didn’t need to be in someone else’s head when finding answers. He just had to do what felt right to him. Nobody expected anything of him, nothing except what he normally did which was what he wanted.
Skateboarding was easy. People… not so much.
“Quit overthinking this. I’m sure we’ll manage something. And if not, we’ll just mime stuff at each other until we get each other.”
A light chuckle escaped Langa as Reki mimed miming, his arms waving through the air. He had no idea what the boy was trying to communicate with his charade, but neither one lingered too much on that. Instead, he calmed, his focus suddenly lingering on the small point of contact between the two boys, the warmth of Reki’s body against his.
“You know,” his voice was back to its usual coolness, though he could feel a stutter on the tip of his tongue, “there is this thing called a translator app. Not perfect, but better than me.”
“Aw, man, don’t be so hard on yourself!” Reki leaned even more into Langa, his head on the boy’s shoulder. “I’m sure you’re gonna be a great translator!”
As Reki peeled himself off of Langa, the warmth dissipated almost immediately, leaving Langa cold once more. Despite the sun beaming down on all of Okinawa, Langa still felt cold when Reki wasn’t next to him, touching him, cuddling him. It wasn’t weird for best friends to cuddle, was it? People could cuddle platonically, right? It had to be a thing. Girls did it all the time at school, all huddled together, some on each other's laps, arms linked as they giggled together. So it wasn’t weird to have Reki cuddled into his side while they watched skateboarding videos, buried under blankets, in the dead of the night.
“C’mon, man! You’re zoning out on me again! Race you to your place?”
Langa blinked a few times before giving him a curt nod, dropping his skateboard and pushing off after Reki. He wasn’t going to think about cuddling Reki. Nope. No way. Not happening.
Once again, it wasn’t hard to spot the girl sitting on the curb of the road. Her blond hair shone under the hot summer sun, bright against the dull color of the apartment building. Her phone screen also helped with the shine, rays of sunlight reflecting off of it as she continued scrolling mindlessly. If Langa had to describe the girl, phone-addict was one of the first things he’d say; she didn’t do much other than scroll through the countless apps she had. Really, all she did was pull her knees to her chest and stare at a screen all day, which was probably why Langa’s mother had asked for him to take her out for the day.
At the sound of the screeching wheels of two skateboards coming to a halt, Emily lifted her head, seeming a little disoriented. She blinked at them, as if not recognizing the boy in front of her, but as soon as the connections were made in her brain, a grin broke across her face as she bounced up.
“About time you got here! I’ve been–!”
Brown eyes flickered towards Reki, a color breaking across her cheeks as she bit her lower lip. Her fingers picked and pulled at her phone case, a nervousness so uncharacteristic from the girl Langa remembered from his childhood, and yet, it made him bite back a smile.
“Hello, I mean,” she fumbled with her words and her phone, worse than Langa had on his arrival in Japan. “Hello,” she repeated in highly English-accented Japanese.
A cold sweat swept over Langa. As much as he wanted to laugh at the girl and her struggles, he was suddenly more concerned and aware of his own presence. Was he to play translator or was he supposed to let her try and communicate on her own? Was it rude to let her struggle or would it be ruder to cut her off and just tell her that he’d translate whatever she said? Had it been a mistake to let Reki join him today? Should he have told him that he was busy and couldn’t come with him?
“Hello, I… I hope I not…” Reki leaned closer, whispering to Langa in his native Japanese. “How do you say ‘intruding’ in English?”
“Bother.” The English rolled off of his tongue far more naturally than the Japanese ever did despite having spent years speaking it and having lived in Japan for the past year. “I hope I’m not bothering.”
“Bot–! Bot… I…” Reki grinned, pointing at Langa. The clunky attempt at English was quickly replaced by a smooth Japanese. “That! Whatever Langa said, that.”
It would have been easy to have ignored the situation, make nothing of it. Nothing spectacular had happened, after all; Reki had tried to speak English just as Emily had attempted to speak Japanese. Except everything had happened and Langa felt like he could just die. And not just because he would have to play interpreter between Reki and Emily.
It was ridiculous, really. It had no business making his heart skip a beat in his chest the way it did. It wasn’t even like it was the first time he was hearing Reki try to speak English! And yet, here Langa was, the corners of his eyes prickling with potential tears, the urge to curl up in a ball on the ground, knees pressed to his chest, stopped by the mere fact that he was not dramatic by nature.
Reki was cute. Reki was absolutely adorable and it was going to kill Langa. His accent was everything, an accent Langa had never really noticed since Reki never spoke English aside from the couple of words he had to utter during English classes. And Langa had never really thought about speaking English with Reki; the most that would happen would be him turning a word over in his mouth until he found the Japanese translation. He had never seen Reki try so hard to communicate in a langue that wasn’t his own, the concentration so visible on his face as he tried to repeat the words Langa had given him. And when the sheepish grin spread across his face as he gave up? That was it. Langa was gone. Langa was lost to the brightness of the boy, to his ridiculously adorable ways. How was it possible that he had somehow gotten even cuter than he already was?
“Hey, Langa?” Emily’s voice drew Langa back to reality, her fingers curled around his forearm. “You good there? You look like you’re about to have a panic attack.”
“Cute attack actually.”
The words were already out by the time Langa was clasping his hands over his mouth, eyes widened with shame. It was too late; there was no taking them back now. They were out for the world to hear rather than in the safe space in the corner of his mind. His deepest, most embarrassing thoughts had been verbalized, and there was no doubt about that given the way Emily was biting her lip, failing to conceal her laughter.
“You…” A snort escaped the girl, her laughter falling like a waterfall now. “You have it so bad! How have you not slipped up yet?”
“This is your fault!” Heat rose to Langa’s cheeks as he hissed at the girl. “This is all your fault! You—!"
The corner of Langa’s eyes caught on a wisp of red, red that drew him in as always. Amber eyes had been cast down, staring at his fingers picking at the fraying hem of his sleeve. There was a shadow over Reki’s usual brightness, a shadow Langa had learned to quickly notice. It came with the tugging of sleeves, something Reki only did when he was uncomfortable. Something he only did when he felt unwanted. Something he only did when he felt out of place, the last thing Langa wanted him to ever feel; Reki should never feel out of place next to Langa.
“Reki?”
“It’s okay, Langa. I… I’ll just go home. I’m sure I can do something for my mom and you, well, it’ll be easier for you.” He forced a smile as his eyes met Langa’s. The grin looked as fragile as Langa’s heart. “You’ll come around later? Or like, you’ll text me tonight?”
“No.” A pause. Downcast eyes and slender fingers grabbing for the soft yellow fabric. “Yes. No, Reki. Please.” The eyes rose like sunshine in the morning, pulling a grateful smile from Langa. “Please don’t go. I… I want you here.”
“And,” the voice was shaky but held a lot more confidence than what Langa had mustered up all those months ago when he first arrived in the new country, “I understand. Just… Just go slow please?”
The Japanese words were slow and slightly butchered by an English accent, but still, they left a pool of relief in Langa’s chest. He wouldn’t have to translate everything, all the back and forth between Emily and Reki. He wouldn’t have to play interpreter, a job he knew he was terrible at. He’d just get to sit back and listen, something he enjoyed quite a bit; talking was such a tiring thing.
“When’d you…”
The question wasn’t fully out by the time Emily was looking at him, her eyebrow arched, some sort of invitation for Langa to finish his sentence. She often did that, looking at him in a way that meant “go on, I dare you.” But Langa knew better. He knew she knew the rest of the question without needing him to spell it out for her. She was good at predicting what would come next; or maybe Langa was predictable when it came to his questions.
“I’ve been practicing a bit.”
The girl shrugged as she turned on her heel, turning her attention to Reki. So that was why she was using a lot more words than he remembered her knowing. And sure, they weren’t perfect, far from Reki’s native Japanese, but it was nonetheless impressive to Langa. After all, out of the two, he was by far the more “Japanese” one.
Back in Canada, he was the one that people went to when looking for a “foreign” kid, despite his light hair and blue eyes. He was the one people heard speak Japanese with his parents. He was the one that had weird things in his lunches, which now that he thought about it, weren’t even that weird. He was the one that looked the most Asian when he stood next to Emily, Emily with her big brown eyes and her glistening blond hair. Out of the two, he was the one that had embraced the Asian heritage a lot more. Or maybe, he just grew up in an environment where being Asian didn’t mean being a freak. Or maybe he was just used to being alone while Emily hated it. Who really knew.
None of that really mattered anyway. They weren’t grade-school kids back in North America anymore. They weren’t the strange kids that didn’t look like the others anymore. Well, yes, they still were, but they were older and it didn’t really matter anymore. What mattered right now was that Emily had her arm looped with Reki’s, her shoulder pressed to his as they walked ahead, chatting like old friends. Fragments of Japanese and English words filled the air, both stumbling over the language they still struggled with. Reki still mostly answered in Japanese, his flow simply slowed down quite a bit in hopes of Emily grasping at least a part of the meaning of his words, while she simply repeated English words over and over again until the Japanese equivalent made its way on her tongue. They both made such efforts to understand each other, eyes bright as they went back and forth. Both seemed so happy in each other’s company that now, it was Langa’s turn to feel out of place. It was his turn to stand back, kicking rocks as he followed them like a sad puppy.
“So, any lucky girls in your life?”
If he hadn’t been grasping the words thrown around before, this series of words didn’t fly high over his head. These ones struck a chord within him. These words had been unmissable and unmistakably Emily’s attempt at getting fresh gossip. She was going to badger Reki until someone snapped, though it was unclear in Langa’s mind who would snap first.
“Emily…”
His voice was low and warning, a tone he hadn’t heard out of himself in ages, and yet, it didn’t chill the girl the way it had chilled him. If anything, she looked amused at his tone, grinning over her shoulder as her eyes twinkled. As always, there was that mischief, mischief that scared Langa more than he could ever scare her.
“Cool it, Twig Boy.” Slick English filled the air, her words like a song unlike the clunkiness of her Japanese. “I ain’t tryin’ to steal your man. Just trying to figure him out, y’know?”
She shot him a wink which made his stomach turn. She knew what she was doing to him, no doubt about it. She knew he hated every moment of this. She knew the power she had over him, the power to drive him to insanity. And yet, she didn’t make any sign of stopping. If anything, she did the opposite, turning to Reki with a grin.
The boy glanced awkwardly between the two. Confusion glazed his eyes, a look which normally would have worried Langa but left him with unnatural relief. By his look, there was no way he had understood the English. He was left in the dark. He was left at Emily’s mercy.
“Well?” She leaned into him, her blonde locks nearly mingling with the wild red wisps. “Girls? Pretty ones? Interesting ones?”
Reki’s eyes grew wide before softening again and falling to the ground in front of him, vanishing from Langa’s view.
“Ah, well…”
Langa had seen that movement a thousand times already, but never did he get used to it. His eyes always followed the freckled skin, the calloused fingers as they reached for Reki’s neck, rubbing the spot sheepishly. Who knew what the boy’s face looked like; was he blushing? Was he thinking about some of the pretty girls from around town, from school, from S? Langa would have loved to know what Reki was thinking, who he was thinking of, but Reki’s mind was a forbidden place. No one but Reki was allowed into his thoughts.
“No, not really. I… I don’t know? I mean, I, I haven’t really had time to think about girls? With skating and school and all that? My mom’s not super happy about my grades, so I can’t go ‘round thinking ‘bout girls all the time, y’know?”
A nervous chuckle fell from Reki’s lips as he glanced back at Langa. Big amber eyes shot a shiver down Langa’s spine as a relieved sigh left his lips. No girls. Reki wasn’t thinking about girls, not that Langa wasn’t aware of this. Or rather, Reki had never brought one up to him and Langa, perhaps naively, believed it meant that none had caught his eye.
There only ever had been boards for Reki; it was all he would gush about. It was always “Look at the shape of this one!” or “The colors look freaking awesome when you flip this one!” and never… whatever it was that straight boys said about girls. Girls had never been an issue, and Langa couldn’t have been more thankful. He had no idea what he would have done if Reki had confided in him about a crush on some girl in their class. Or one of the older girls that S. Was Reki maybe into older girls? He talked to a lot of girls their age but never mentioned any, but he rarely talked to the older ones under the harsh midnight lights at S. Maybe he was too shy around them because he found them pretty. Or maybe he—
“What about boys?”
“Emily!”
The name tumbled out of Langa’s mouth quicker than his mind was going. Reki wasn’t into any girls, he had just confirmed that despite Langa’s racing thoughts. Reki was still just Reki, his Reki, his best friend. But such a confirmation didn’t mean that he had any interest in guys! Emily was just being annoyingly nosy, asking inappropriate questions to someone she essentially just met.
“What?”
She had that shit-eating grin on her face again, the one Langa knew too well, the one that more often than not made his cheeks burn bright. There was no blaming the sun for this one; the blush was there, probably a deep crimson, and it was definitely that she-devil’s fault. It was her fault and… and… It was her fault because she couldn’t ask Reki questions like that! They were uncalled for and inappropriate! And Reki absolutely did not need to answer or—
“No? I mean, I don’t know? I…” Reki rubbed his nose with the sleeve of his hoodie, the yellow bright like the sun, the yellow giving his pretty face a glow like the setting sun. “I haven’t thought about it?”
The hesitation in Reki’s voice made Langa’s heart skip a beat. What was it doing there? Reki didn’t have to seem bashful or anything about it; he could have easily just said no and moved on with his life. But it was there, clear as day, clear as the blush that Langa tried desperately to make disappear. Perhaps he had just misunderstood the question. Maybe that hesitation stemmed from him trying to decipher what Emily was trying to say to him rather than a consideration of what she was saying, since he didn’t like boys. It was just obvious: Reki did not like boys, at least not the same way Langa did. Reki liked girls and that was that.
“Do you—”
“How about,” Langa squeezed between the two, pushing Emily away a little forcefully. She stumbled next to him, snapping her mouth shut as her words vanished from existence. She shot him a look that Langa ignored, simply grabbing both Reki and Emily by the wrists and dragging them along. “How about we go grab something to eat? Since I’m supposed to be a tour guide, we might as well—”
“Explore what you know best?”
Emily burst out laughing at Reki’s proud grin. And Langa couldn’t even bring himself to be mad at the boy; he was right after all. All he really knew was where he could fill his stomach. All he really knew were the places where he and Reki fit in best, sunken deep into an old booth, two best friends sharing a carton of fries and occasionally some sickly-sweet drink at the crack of dawn.
 “Let’s just go.”
The words were accompanied by a sigh, but the smile didn’t even try to cover itself. How could Langa try to seem frustrated when Reki was smiling like that? How could he even dare try to seem annoyed when Reki was there? It was impossible to try and act like he would have rather be alone.
And Reki, he didn’t seem like he was less excited at the prospect of getting food with his best friend. Or with Emily. Who knew who Reki was more excited about, not that Langa would try to pull the answer out of the boy. Emily, on the hand, still seemed ready to go fishing for more information, yet another thing Langa wouldn’t allow to happen.
Today just wasn’t the day Langa would try to open the can of worms called sexuality. Today wasn’t the day he’d try to learn if Reki exclusively liked girls or not. Today wasn’t the day he would be finding out if all his terrible attempts at flirting had been in vain or not. No, today was going to be the day where he got himself a burger and just spent a nice day out, not getting his life turned inside out by some nosy cousin he hadn’t seen in forever. Today was not the day he was going to be dealing with yet another emotional crisis.

Kojiro had gotten so used to Kaoru’s visits after hours so when he stopped showing up Kojiro noticed right away. Sure he still sees his ‘rival’ at S but it worries him. He knows that Kaoru is one for routine, he likes things to be the same so he wouldn't randomly stop showing up. Kojiro is determined to find out why the sudden change.
Skating to S he found Cherry as usual and stayed near him teasing the other about how he needs a robotic board to keep up with his competitors. The comment earned him a glare and a smack to the back of the head, he laughed. So Kaoru was still his usual attitude filled self which was almost more worrying. Their bickering continued and they met up with the others at the starting point. Langa, or Snow, is skating against Miya again tonight to settle some type of bet, it was sure to be interesting. The two with the addition of Reki were talking about whatever it is they normally do.
Cherry and Joe were talking to Shadow when sudden screams interrupted their conversation, Adam had come. Both Joe and Cherry had shot him a glare, Langa and Reki doing the same. Reki moved to stand between him and Langa then continued on with their conversation. Adam walked over to Cherry and Joe, “I don't even get a greeting anymore? Is that loss still too fresh Cherry?” He asked his mask sadly not hiding his stupid smirk. Before Cherry could answer Joe butt in, “You don't have anything better to do then harass the skaters here?” Adam only chuckled.
“Why are you even here Adam, you're not skating.” Cherry finally got the chance to speak. Adam smiled a smile that made Cherry’s stomach twist, “I’m here to challenge Joe. I think it’s only fair seeing as you both wanted to challenge me but I never accepted his.” Joe had a face of shock and Cherry one of worry which he quickly changed. “He wouldn't-” Cherry tried to speak before Joe spoke up, “I accept.” Adam smiled and began to walk away. “Wonderful! I will see you Friday night then.” Cherry looked like he wanted to smack the other again. He walked away from Joe.
The night went on as normal for the Snow vs Miya beef. Langa won even though it was a close match. A few more people wanted to skate so they did, Langa and Reki left not long after the beef followed by Miya who got a ride from Shadow. Joe hasn’t seen Cherry since earlier that night so he assumed the pinkette went home. Joe now did the same making his way home tiredly. He had questions running wild in his head, was Kaoru mad at him? If so, what had he done? All questions he wanted to ask him that night but hadn't gotten the chance. The rest of the night passed like normal, Kojiro went home, ate, showered then went to bed.
When the next morning rolled around he begrudgingly got up to get to his restaurant needing to open. He loves owning his own restaurant but some days it tires him out. Unlike most days where the place was booming in business it had been quiet almost all day. As the evening came to a close he heard the door open behind him, “I’m sorry we’re closed for the night.” He spoke not turning around as he cleaned a table, the voice that responded caught him off guard. “I know, that’s why I’m here, you gorilla.” The voice was sharp and one he’d grown used to, he smiled and finally turned to look at the other. “Kaoru, it's been awhile since you’ve visited. I was almost starting to miss you.” He got an eye roll from the other. Kaoru locked the door and took a seat where he normally did.
Without having to say anything Kojiro got him a drink and sat across from him. They sat in silence, one that worried Kojiro, something was wrong. “Uhm Kaoru? Was there a reason for your visit or did you just miss my company?” He tried to play off his concern with a normal response. He expected a snarky response so his heart sank when the other still held a serious expression while he spoke, “I don't know Kojiro. Would there be a reason for me coming to see you?” A rhetorical question. Kojiro tried to think of something he might’ve done to upset the other. But nothing came to mind.
“Kaoru I really don't know.” Kojiro was discouraged, the last thing he wants is for Kaoru to actually be mad at him. Kaoru was still sitting there with the same expression, so plain yet full of emotions, ones that the other couldn't read. “Well, maybe I’m just annoyed with you for something off-hand.” Kaoru started, giving Kojiro a bit of hope, false hope. “Or maybe it’s because you are an absolute idiot.” Kaoru snapped, that’s clearly the reason. He looked at the pinkette with a dumbfounded look, clearly he didn't know what he had done which only frustrated Kaoru more.
Kaoru decided to spell it out for him, “Cancel your beef with Adam.” It was a plain statement, he wasn’t asking. The seriousness and suffocating air around them shocked the green haired man. “Why on earth would I do that? I've wanted to skate against him for so long, I want to avenge-” He cut himself off before he slipped up. It would seem weird if Kaoru knew that he wanted to get revenge on Adam for his sake, right? Kaoru was getting mad now, Kojiro had seen how that turnt out for others who went against Adam so what made him think he’d have a different outcome?
Without Kaoru saying anything Kojiro spoke again to cover his near mistake, “Plus I’m clearly the  better skater out of the two of us so I’ll definitely beat him.” Kaoru looked at him absolutely baffled, did he really just say that? Even though quite some time has passed since the beef between Cherry and Adam it was still a touchy and difficult subject for the older of the two. The hurt must've been obvious on his face since Kojiro’s face paled as he came to realize what he’d just said. Before he could try and fix it Kaoru stormed away leaving the restaurant, when had he even gotten up? Kojiro was left there with guilt flooding him.
Kaoru went straight home and didn't know whether to be mad at Kojiro or just generally sad. He only tried to warn the other, worried for him. Sure, he was mostly sure that Kojiro didn't mean it but it still fucking hurt. The beef between Kojiro and Adam was in three days, he can’t let it happen but he knows how stubborn Kojiro is. He chose to sleep on the decision. Kojiro on the other hand was worried that Kaoru wouldn't ever want to talk to him again. He decided that he’d go to the other’s house the next day to apologise.
Kaoru woke up in the morning to knocks on his door, he looked at the time and grumbled, “it’s 7 in the morning, who would be here?” He asked himself as he got out of the comfort of his bed. Trudging to the door he swung it open and was shocked and confused. Kojiro was outside his door with a to-go box in his hands and an apologetic look, he moved to let him in. “What are you doing here so early?” He asked softly, taking the food from him curiously walking to the kitchen to look at what it was. Kojiro brought him breakfast? In the box were pancakes and fresh fruits. He sat down to eat and Kojiro sat across from him. “Can you answer my question?” He seemed to only realise he had been asked anything.
“I’m sorry Kaoru, I shouldn't have said what I did yesterday, it was out of line.”  He spoke softly and with a guilt laced voice. Kaoru just looked at him but a soft smile soon grazed his lips, “I’m not mad at you dumbass, I was just shocked. I know you’d never mean that.” He spoke softly and Kojiro’s shoulder visibly relaxed. “That being said, I still don't want you to skate against Adam. Kojiro he's ruthless, I mean just look at what he did to me. He’ll do anything to win, especially against me and you.” Kaoru spoke with so much worry for the green haired man that Kojiro became a bit flustered.
“And if that’s not a good enough reason to cancel then let me give you another.” With a second of hesitation Kaoru got up and walked over to Kojiro pulling him into a passionate and loving kiss. He pulled away just enough to speak, “I won’t be able to handle seeing you hurt.” He reconnected their lips in a kiss with just as much passion as the first. Years of want and built up feelings for eachother poured out as they kissed, Kojiro held the pinkettes waist and pulled him flush against his body. Kaoru wrapped his arms around his neck and held him in the kiss. The kiss only broke when the two needed to breathe.
Kojiro was the first to break the silence, “That kiss wasn’t just to make me agree was it?” He asked with a smile earning him a smack, “Of course not idiot.” Kaoru kissed him again. Kojiro cut the kiss short, earning an annoyed and confused look from the taller. “Adam won’t be too happy about me canceling the beef.” Kojiro spoke with a chuckle. “I don't care what he thinks if he wasn’t such an asshole it wouldn't be an issue. He only has himself to blame, I’ll never understand how Tadashi puts up with him.” Kaoru went to sit on the couch and was soon joined by Kojiro who just pulled him onto his lap.
Things escalated, from soft kisses to exploring eachothers mouths, soft touches to exploring the others body. Kojiro’s shirt unbuttoned and Kaoru’s kimono falling off his shoulders. The two were no stranger to eachothers bodies having spend numerous nights together but this was different. There was more passion and they weren’t rushing. It was loving and Kojiro was putting most of his energy into making the pinkette feel good instead of worrying about his own needs. Kaoru was relishing it, used to the rough and rushed sex with Kojiro, this is a nice change.
Kojiro trailed the kisses down his neck softly and slowly, “Do you want me to carry you to the bedroom, or do you want to stay here?” Kaoru hummed at the feeling of the others' lips on his neck and in response to the question he tried to get up but Kojiro lifted him into his arms, “I said I’d carry you.” A soft chuckle left the pinkettes lips before he was layed back on the bed. His komono was basically down to his elbows now leaving his chest exposed, “You don't have anything to do later right? We don't need to rush?” Kaoru spoke in such a soft voice that Kojiro almost melted. “Of course we don't, I would've stopped this if I had somewhere to be.” Kojirou assured the man under him.
With the knowledge that this wouldn't be rushed Kaoru allowed himself to relax into the touches and kisses that Kojiro trailed his body with. The kisses trailed down his neck to his chest gently, Kojiro giving extra attention to his chest knowing how sensitive it is. Despite his want for pleasure he never asked the other to reciprocate the touches content with listening to him moan and gasp. Kaoru stopped him and guided him back up to his lips to kiss him passionately and mumbled against his lips, “I appreciate the attention you're giving me, but I want you to feel good too.” His voice was soft and full of love for the other. Kojiro smiled and kissed him again, “Don’t worry, I can wait. Plus I’m enjoying listening to your voice.” Kaoru scoffed but was blushing at the words the other spoke. He’s not used to this love.
Kaoru was adamant on wanting Kojiro to feel as good as he is. He pulled Kojiro down more so that his hips thrusted against his own a bit making the greenette moan. To further push his point he mumbled soft pleads for Kojiro to just fuck him already. Kojiro loves hearing him beg for him, it always gives him a sense of pride like nothing else can. To know that he pleasures Kaoru so well that the man will push aside his pride to feel him. Deciding to give the man under him what he wanted, he reached over to the bedside table so he could grab the lube.
Kojiro looked at him and couldn't control the soft smile that spread across his face when Kaoru looked up at him. He connected their lips while spreading lube on himself and lining up with Kaoru. Gently and carefully he slid into the boy under him earning himself a small gasp and whine from the pinkette. He thrusted himself completely into him and kept a slow and gentle pace with his movements so Kaoru could get used to the feeling of his size. He shushed the pinkett's whines, mumbling soft praise to him so he could calm down.
Soon Kaoru was thrusting his hips back against him wanting Kojiro to let loose with him like he usually does. The chuckle that escaped Kojiro at his lover's neediness made him flustered, he looked at the green haired man and huffed. He knows what he wants, he wants to hear him beg for pleasure, wants to hear how much Kaoru wants him. The pink haired male was quick to let pleads spill from him, he was desperate for the others' pleasure. Kojiro’s thrusts quickened and became more rough, this was more what the two were used to. Even with that, it was more passionate, they were happy.

Oh oh! Can we get some hedcanons about cherry adopting a girl who is around miya's age. Like how close would they be and how would others feel about her being his daughter now. Bonus points if uncel Joe and little missy mess with daddy blossom
Xoxo love your work so far, keep it up💙
➯ A/N: This was such an amazing request, I had so much fun writing it! Hope you enjoy :)
Also, i started watching Your Lie in April today, and its AMAZING! So much more than what I was expecting
➯ With a daughter
➯ Characters: Kaoru Sakurayashiki with a young daughter. Reki, Langa and co. are mentioned throughout!
➯ Warnings: none:)
Tumblr media
Having a child had never crossed Kaoru’s mind before, but when Joe had teased him about how “you treat Carla better than you would a child!”, the idea kind of stuck with him. And so, he’d spent countless nights awake, wondering to himself if it was something he truly wanted?
He’d pass parks, seeing parents with spewing babies and toddlers throwing tantrums, wondering if he could actually put up with that? But as he passed the shops, he came across a mother and her daughter, who looked around 12. He watched them pass, a grin on the child’s face as she looked into her shopping bag, examining her haul for that day. And so it was settled
He wanted a baby girl he could spoil absolutely rotten
And the search for a child carried on, and this time instead of baby shops and websites, he was browsing the shelves of Claires and other tween clothing stores. It had only occurred to him over a bottle of wine with Joe, as they were discussing if Kaoru was truly ready for something like this. Instead of a crying baby or a messy toddler, he could simply adopt someone a bit older!
It made sense too. For a single parent, an older child seemed much more doable. Of course, he wouldn’t be alone. Joe was always telling him how he’d help out, yknow, if he actually went through with the damn thing.
Not to mention, the older you get, the more difficult it is to get adopted. Babies and young children will get adopted left right and centre, whereas the child he will take home will have been there for a while. Finally, they will have a place to call a home
He spent months trying to get the approval for adoption, and one fateful day he finally got the letter that yes he could go ahead and take one home. He was ecstatic, spending the next few days finding out the location of every orphanage around his area of Japan. He messaged every single one, asking when their next visiting day was
And so it was set: Kaoru would not rest until he had found his perfect little girl
He went through orphanage after orphanage, searching for someone he could call his own. However, none of the children were lighting that paternal flame inside him. It wasn’t their fault of course, they just didn’t click with him, staring at him any time he tried to talk to them. Visit after visit, he’d go to Joe’s, ready to tell him about his recent fail.
It wasn’t until Joe came up to him with a phone number, asking if he’d been to this particular orphanage yet. Apparently they had a few children aged 12 and up, and were available for visit that Saturday. And so there he was, packing a bag and getting ready to travel to the house. This time felt different, somehow. He could feel his palms sweat, as if he could sense he would take one of them home
When he finally made it to the house, he was a nervous wreck. The lady of the house let him in with a smile, telling him the children were in the backyard playing while she bounced a baby on her hip. Cherry winced as the baby gurgled at him, glad he opted for an older child
She led him outside, gesturing at the children who were sprinting around in the vast field, hiding behind trees and bushes. It was clear they were playing a game of hide and seek. He smiled as he scanned over them, but it quickly disappeared when he noticed one little girl sitting on the step, head in her lap while her shoulders gently shook with tears
He walked over to her, bending down with a soft smile. He didn’t know where this sudden calmness came from, but that was his last priority right now. A little gash sat on the girls knee, caked with blood as it trickled down her shin. He frowned, pulling out a tissue to gently wipe it. She jumped, wincing with shock from the fresh wave of pain, and surprise. Kaoru gently wiped at her knee once more before looking up at her to attempt a conversation
“Hello, is your knee alright?” She shook her head frantically, wiping a tear away from her face. A small breathy laugh escaped him as he watched the child stand, gesturing to her leg
“Nope, not at all. I think its broken, if you ask me. All cause of that stupid thing!” She threw her arm out, gesturing to a pink board Kaoru hadn’t noticed before. A skateboard.
That’s when Kaoru realised it: I want this one
Suddenly he felt a new sense of importance, like he had to make a good impression. He walked over to the board, tutting as he looked down at it. “This is what hurt you?” He looked at it with disdain as the little girl nodded her head violently. Kaoru could see how she hurt herself, the thing was massive, especially for someone her age. It looked around the size of a board he would use.
Grinning, he picked up the board. “Well, want to see something cool?” She watched in wonder as kaoru stood on it, pushing off and turning quickly, popping an ollie over a stray toy. The little girl jumped, throwing her arms up as she cheered Kaoru on. He finished with a flourish, coming back to stand beside her. “What did you think?” She was speechless, simply moving her hands, saying scattered “wows” and making various sound effects. Kaoru smiled, certain that he could teach her more.
When he realized visiting time was coming to a close, he proposed the idea to the girl, who’s name he had come to know was Lily: he’d come back next week, and he’d bring his board. He even promised to find her a smaller boar perfect for her to learn on, saying he knew a friend who could make her one. From there he would teach her the basics of skateboarding, even a couple of tricks once she got that down. She was delighted, bouncing up and down and declaring she couldn’t wait, all the energy of someone much younger than her. Kaoru found he couldn’t stop smiling himself either
He made his way back through the house, Lily skipping alongside him. He explained the plan to the Lady, that he would come back next week for another visit. Just as he was about to leave, he turned to the lady to request one final thing from her
“Make sure no one snatches her up from me while I’m gone, yeah?”
Needless to say a bottle of wine was opened at Joe’s that night in celebration of Lily, the potential daughter
And so the weeks turned into months, and Kaoru returned each week with his board and some sweets for her and the other children, teaching her everything she needed to know about skateboarding. After a month or so she could confidently ollie without bailing, and next time he visited she displayed it with delight, watching Kaoru’s face light up with pride.
She had taken a real liking to Kaoru, according to the Lady. She refused to pay any other visitors any notice, declaring they “simply weren’t Kaoru.” This is what finally made him realise that maybe it was time to ask if she’d like to live with him from now on, where she could practice with him every day.
When he asked her, Kaoru could’ve sworn he actually saw stars in her eyes. She simply lit up, throwing herself at Kaoru, tears streaming down her face as she shouted yes, of course she would. she wasn’t the only one crying, Kaoru could barely see from the tears in his own eyes, the lady dabbing at hers with a tissue
Once the paperwork was complete and Lily was his, he felt a weight had been taken off his shoulders. He had packed her a new change of clothes the day he went to collect her, bringing Joe along with him for emotional support. Lily came flying at him the second he got out of his car, wrinkling her nose at Joe
“You never told me you had a boyfriend, Kaoru” she stuck her tongue out at him from over his shoulder while they both tried to convince her that no, they weren’t a couple, before she ran upstairs to get changed. Joe turned to Kaoru, an almost offended look on his face
“Why were you so adamant that we weren’t together??” “I dont need her worrying she’s going home to a Gorrila” “HEY”
Once they all got home, they threw a little party at Joe’s who had closed a little early specially for it. Kaoru didn’t let her out of his sight, making sure she wasn’t uncomfortable with all the new people. Of course, it was only Joe, Shadow, Reki, Langa and Miya, all of whom she would meet eventually, but he still worried in case she got overwhelmed.
She made quick friends with Reki, who was ecstatic from the moment he realised she could skate. The two bonded over it, talking about tricks they’d learned, Reki shouting over at Kaoru because why hadn’t he taught him anything??
Miya was a bit standoffish at first, but when she saw the switch in his hand, the two were instantly bonding over who had better villagers in Animal Crossing, and who had passed more levels in Mario with three stars
As the months went on, Lily really settled into her new life in Okinawa, starting at school in Miyas class. The two were joined at the hip, Miya often coming home to Kaoru’s so they could practice together, or simply study and watch some movies. Reki constantly teased the shit out of the two, talking about how he heard “wedding bells”. This comment earned him a swift whack into the skull from Kaoru, warning him not to tease his little girl
Soon enough Kaoru was making her own skateboard with built-in Carla, who helped her skating improve insanely. As Kaoru said, she was definitely a chip off the old block. Langa and Reki would take her to the skate park with them, helping her land new tricks and would take videos of her to send to Kaoru
Shadow was like a chill uncle to her, bringing her flowers for her room and taking her out to get some clothes and ice cream. Joe was like an uncle too, but a much more untrustworthy one. Would he take her to the park, or would he take her to parts of downtown she definitely shouldn’t have been? Who knows, certainly not Kaoru...
Poor Kaoru can never get a minutes peace. Every second of the day she’s plotting something, waiting for him to let his guard down so she can pounce, scaring the shit out of him. When the others are around its 10x worse, all of them ganging up on him to pull pranks
As well as skateboarding, Kaoru tried to teach her how to do calligraphy. She ended up being awful, blotting the ink and smearing it with her hand. But hey, it was a fun art project that made it onto the fridge
At S, she was watched like a hawk. When Kaoru was competing, the others would be like her bodyguard, making sure no one got within 5 feet of her. She’d watch her dad with wonder, the look of awe never leaving her face since the first day she saw him skate. She can’t wait for the day she can compete, maybe even beating her own dad
The first time Lily called Kaoru “dad” was when he won a race, showing off some amazing skills and winning the insanely close match by a hair. He picked up his board, looking around for Lily. He saw her in the crowd, throwing her arms up and cheering “THATS MY DAD!! LOOK, RIGHT THERE, THATS MY DAD!” When she spotted him, a large grin spread across her face. “Nice job out there dad! You did amazing!! D’you think I can do that one day?”
Everyone was staring at her, she hadn’t even realised she had said anything out of the ordinary. Soon enough Kaoru was lunging at her, picking her up in a hug so she didn’t see the tears quickly forming on his face. With a smile he pulled away, his voice dripping with pride
“Of course you could. You’re my daughter, aren’t you?”

A Little Voice Told Me - Pt.1
Tumblr media
***This request gives me sooooooooo many Sk8 The Infinity Sad!Reki vibes it's insane! Which, as the angst-obsessed weirdo that I am, I love. For anyone curious, I set out my specifications for asks with poly!mc dating all the demon bros in a previous ask HERE. I hope this is something along the lines of what you're looking for @ang3lsblue *** Summary: Words hurt and leave their scars. MC learns this the hard way after hearing some not-so-nice whispers about them while on a date with Beel. How are they supposed to be the partner of the seven lords of the Devildom when they just don't measure up? Part Two: HERE, Part Three: HERE Date night was always difficult when it came to dating the seven lords of the Devildom. For starters, it was in the nature of several of them to keep you to themselves. Leviathan and Mammon in particular had a hard time adjusting to the idea that you loved all the brothers equally and wanted to spend time with all of them. Things were bumpy when the relationship first got started, but after some communication and careful negotiation, you were all able to find a way to make this work. One particular boundary that had been set up early on was a line up from oldest to youngest of who got to take you out on a date next. That day, in particular, had been Beel's turn. The two of you were at a professional Fangol game. Although you had a decent understanding of the sport from watching Beel's practices and games so often, you still found yourself leaning over to ask him questions from time to time. Beel would smile, and answer them easily without an ounce of judgement. The night had been going wonderfully with Beel's favourite team winning as the half-time buzzer went off. The friendly giant stood and looked down at you. "I'm going to go get some snacks from the canteen. Did you want to come with me?" You smiled at him and shook your head. "No, I'm pretty comfy here. Will you get me popcorn and a bottle of water while you're there though?" He knelt down and kissed the top of your head. "Sure thing, Honey Bun. I'll be right back. Stay here and be careful, okay?"
You giggled and waved at your doting boyfriend as he walked away. You pulled out your D.D.D. and began responding to the few texts that your other partners had sent you checking on things and making sure that you were okay. You were in the middle of responding to particularly curious Leviathan when you began to notice the words being spoken around you. "That's them right? The human that's sleeping around with the Avatars of Sin?" "God, what do the Lords even see in them? I mean seriously? They're just a pathetic human." "Honestly, the brothers are probably only dating them out of pity. I mean what else could it be?" "Did you see Beelzebub walk away earlier? He couldn't wait to get away from them. I bet he's ditching them right now." "Ha! Maybe I should go find him? Diavolo knows that anything would be better than dating a weakling like that." "The human needs to take a hint and back off. They can't even compare to the lords. I mean they're the strongest demons in the Devildom, and who is this human? Nothing. They'll never even compare." You froze clutching your D.D.D. tightly in your hand. What those asshole lower demons were saying, wasn't true right? Your boyfriends loved you and had proved it a number of times. This was just nothing jealous gossip. "Can you imagine being as blind and naïve as they are? Like how do they not see how much they annoy the brothers?" You winced as slid down in your seat a little. You did have the tendency to go off and do exactly what the brothers told you not to do. You were constantly stirring up trouble and getting involved in business that wasn't yours to meddle with. They were always having to protect you and save you from the messes that you had made yourself. You really were just a defenceless, small, human in a world of powerful strong demons after all. That much was true. Now that you thought about it, there was some logic to what these other demons were saying. Demons live for centuries if not millennia. You would be dead within the next several decades. Why would they waste their time tying themselves down to someone whose existence is a mere blink of an eye to them? Why are you allowing yourself to hold them back? "MC?" You flinched and looked up to see Beel frowning down at you in concern from behind the mountain of snacks that he was carrying. He sat down and set the food on his lap so that he could place a hand on your shoulder. "Are you alright? You look upset?" You didn't want to ruin the night for Beelzebub. He had been looking forward to this game for weeks. You flashed him a fake smile and nodded. "Everything's fine Beel. Just daydreamed a little while you were gone." He looked at you with uncertainty as you grabbed your water and popcorn from his stash. "Are you sure MC? If something's wrong, we can go home and watch a movie or-" The buzzer signalling the start of the next quarter. It was exactly the distraction you needed to get the focus off of you. "Oh look! The games about to start again! You should start working on those nachos before they go cold." You could feel Beelzebub's eyes on you as you stubbornly stared at the field. He squeezed your shoulder once, before pulling his hand away and beginning to munch on his collection of food. You were much quieter for the rest of the night. You stopped asking Beel about things that confused you about the sport. You barely touched your popcorn. Even though you were watching the players the whole time, you couldn't remember a single thing that happened after halftime. Although you were physically at the game, in your head you were running through every single time you had inconvenienced your partners. As the minutes ticked by, it became glaringly obvious to you that the demons were right. You didn't deserve them. You jumped as the final buzzer went off, and blinked at the scoreboard. Beel's team had won. You got on your feet and urged yourself to cheer like everyone else around you. Beelzebub's eyebrows narrowed as he watched you, and you could tell that he was suspicious of you. You tried
to up your game and laughed at him. "Why are you so serious? You should be celebrating! Your team won!" You stood on your tippy-toes and poked his cheeks into a smile. Beel chuckled and took your hands into his own, pressing a kiss to them. "You're right. I'm sorry." You tried not to let your smile falter as you heard people whisper about how disgusting it was that he was even touching a being like you. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, unaware of voices talking lowly about the two of you, and began to walk out of the arena. "We should probably go home. It's been a long day, huh?" The walk home was quiet and tense. Beel obviously knew that something was wrong, but you just couldn't bring yourself to talk about it yet. As you arrived at the House of Lamentation, Levi was pouting in the living room. "You can't just have MC to yourself all night, Beel. It's not fair to the rest of us." Belphegor flicked Levi's head as he walked by. "It's his turn for date night, Levi. He can do whatever he damn pleases. You didn't hear any of us complaining when you holed MC up in your room gaming and watching animes for twenty-four hours on your last date night." Leviathan huffed and sunk down into the couch, purposely stretching out his legs so that Belphie couldn't sit. Belphie rolled his eyes and ruffled your hair as he approached the two of you. "How was the game? Did you have fun?" The evening's discoveries were weighing down on you as you tried to pull together a small smile for Belphie. "It was fantastic! Beel's team won and there was confetti and everything!" You held your breath as the twins made eye contact and silently agreed that you were keeping something from them. Before anyone could say anything you gave them both kisses on the cheeks. "I-I'm feeling pretty tired though. So I think I'm going to head to bed," before they could react you made your way towards your room. "Thanks for the night out Beel! I loved it. See you in the morning!" And you were gone. The three brothers blinked at where you once stood. Levi frowned and sat up. "Well, that was weird. Have they been like that all night?" Beel grunted with a nod. "Something's not right. I think something happened, b-but I don't know what. One moment they were happy and genuinely enjoying themselves. Then I went to get snacks and when I came back they were like this!" Belphie patted his twin's back. "It's not your fault Beel. MC adores you, you know that. Something must have happened, and we're going to find out what."
***AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH turns out I'm going to have to break this down into two parts! For now, here is part one! I hope you enjoyed @ang3lsblues! Stay tuned for the other bros and to see how they handle MC's insecurities.***

longboard dancing.
request: if you’re doing requests for sk8 the infinity, can you please do the boys of your choice reacting to s/o longboard dancing? thanks 😘
# tags: headcanons; current relationships; romance; comedy; mostly fluff; sfw
includes: gender neutral reader ft. miya chinen, reki kyan, langa hasegawa, kaoru sakurayashiki & kojirou nanjou {sk8}
author’s note: aaaa, thank you so much! my first sk8 request :((( i love it.
Tumblr media
— MIYA
↘ At the beginning, he looks at you blankly when he sees what you are doing. I think he would call your behavior ‘childish’ or ‘so stupid’ BUT!
↘ I am 100% sure that after you smiled charmingly at him and winked in his direction, he would think about your sweet longboard dancing for the rest of the day and a half of the night. On the one hand, he still found it strange and embarrassing, but on the other hand... he wanted to be able to do the same, he wanted to join you, he wanted to know all the things you like and enjoy.
↘ He bit his lower lip with his teeth more than once, sighing through his conflicting thoughts.
↘ That’s why when you met at the skate park the next day and you greeted him with a short kiss on the cheek, the dark-haired boy, the first thing he did after you moved away from his face, was grabbing you by the end of your blouse. After a short second loud, even tired sigh left his thin mouth.
↘ You immediately asked if he was okay, and teen only glanced at you uncertainly, quickly looking around you; surprisingly, there weren’t many people in the skate park – in fact, apart from two of you, there was only another couple who were currently sitting on the hard ground and talking about the school and about what they should eat for lunch.
↘ “... What you did yesterday... T-Teach me.” He coughed, looking sideways at the tall trees one more time, and you instantly felt the warmth rising on your own, small heart.
↘ “Awh, of course!”
↘ For your happy and very precious smile, it was definitely worth spending the next few hours dancing and making short videos (which you then sent to all your close friends... making Miya want to hide his head in the sand!).
Tumblr media
— REKI
↘ Someone said ‘longboard dancing’? He’s totally in it!
↘ Once you saw Reki dancing out of boredom (it was probably his warm-up as well, but you weren’t sure...) and found it very interesting. That’s why you’ve been diligently practiced balance on your skateboard for the last few long days, and when you finally got it under control, you immediately rushed to your beloved boyfriend, who was indescribably happy to see you and gave you some lovely pecks on every part of your pretty face.
↘ And as soon as you asked him to see what you learned, then played one of your favorite fast songs on your smartphone and showed him your perfectly matched moves, he was more than glad and infatuated; he probably felt like on the day of his confession to you. After a few longer seconds, however, he turned off the music, and then kissed you one more time in the middle of the mouth, handing back the phone and quickly running to his house, or more specifically to the bedroom.
↘ The only thing you could hear was, ‘Baby, baby! Please, wait for me, we have to do this together and send it to Langa!’, so you laughed joyfully, nodding your head.
↘ Then, obviously, Reki came back to you, so you two could record some cute videos that you posted not only on your Instagram or TikTok accounts, but which you primarily sent to your blue-haired best friend who, on the other side of the phone, laughed lightly, asking if can he also join to both of you.
Tumblr media
— LANGA
↘ I definitely imagine this situation like: you and Reki are childhood best friends. That’s why you two have very, very similar personality and you think the same way about the skateboard and the whole idea of skateboarding, about creating boards and also about racing.
↘ So Langa saw this dance, when the three of you were spending free time near your own home. He found it weird but extremely funny and definitely cute, especially when you laughed so sweetly with your bestie, saying, that you were definitely better at it than the red head.
↘ Langa watched your conversation (or rather the argument) for the next few minutes, until he felt you suddenly cuddle up to his warm chest, asking who was better – you or Reki.
↘ He looked at you for a brief moment, then shrugged his shoulders with a pure smile, saying that he should see you both dance again to give you an honest opinion.
↘ Neither you nor your best male friend even thought that Lang would ask you for more random songs, which made you ‘fight’ until late evening hours. Langa definitely had a great time – even better than the two of you!
↘ At the end of the day, when you lay down on the hard concrete, pressing your pinkish cheek against his thigh, you pulled your boyfriend by his snow-white shirt, asking who finally won.
↘ He, with a goofy twinkle in his eye, replied that ‘It was a draw for him, but you were definitely more precious than Reki, so you won the competition for his heart’. And although you were dead due to exercise, you pointed your index finger at the amber-eyed, laughing happily and repeating the word ‘I won!’ over, over and over again.
Tumblr media
— KAORU
↘ Kaoru is a serious and reasonable guy (we all know about it, right?), that’s why such ‘things’ were not on his agenda; he had never heard, and much less seen, longboard dancing. You, on the other hand, weren’t the same as he was. Of course, you could be calm and thorough when the situation called for it, but you had your own moments where you just wanted to have some innocent fun and go crazy.
↘ Therefore, while browsing the main YouTube page you came across a compilation in which unknown to you people were dancing on their boards.
↘ You found it amusing; it was a novelty for you that you wanted to test. So when the pink-haired young man was practicing calligraphy, you took Carla quietly and said ‘Hello’ to her. Although the skateboard was a robot she responded very kindly to your words and even asked how you feel and if you need help checking the weather. You said honestly that you wanted to do one thing and Carla naturally agreed to it by blocking the wheels so you don’t fall on the carpet.
↘ After selecting the song and standing in front of the huge mirror, you could test your dancing skills. It turned out you weren’t that bad at all! It was pretty fun, and Carla, with her built-in tiny computer, helped you choose music without having to walk off her.
↘ Obviously, your loud behavior and cheerful songs made Kaoru leave his huge studio and then go to the source of the noise you were causing. He was worried at first, but then, seeing your actions and how Carla fulfilled your polite requests, he smirked to himself. After a while, however, he coughed lightly under his breath, returning his serious expression to his handsome face.
↘ You quickly turned towards him, then blushed sweetly, apologizing for taking his skateboard without asking first. But to your own surprise, your loved one shook his head quickly, then turned, back to his room again.
↘ “Plug and charge Carla later.” He said lowly, bringing back a loving, extremely sincere smile on his lips.
Tumblr media
— KOJIROU
↘ That day you met with your female friend who was very into TikTok. As she knew that your greatest passion is skateboarding, she showed you one of the trends that caught her attention recently. Longboard dancing seemed to be an interesting form of activity, so you watched some of the most popular posts, and then you decided to try your hand at this ‘entertainment’.
↘ The whole learning process and the final dance was recorded by the fair-haired girl on her own phone, and you obviously didn’t notice it, too busy by dancing and having fun, as well as commenting on the whole situation and laughing out loud.
↘ All recorded videos were sent several minutes later to Kojirou, who was bored at work because there were very few customers in the restaurant that noon. However, seeing a notification on the messenger from your best friend, he immediately opened the app and watched the received files.
↘ A stupid smile appeared on his face as he surveyed your legs, ass and cheering face. After the last video, he sighed loudly, while looking at the yellow-white clock that took its place on one of the bar walls.
↘ He has three hours left until the end of his shift, but he has already decided to write a short text message to you in which he praised your all moves and confessed that he missed you so badly and would like to spend some time with you. He also added that he would love to see it all with his own eyes, and as soon as you read each word, you blushed all over your face and at the ends of your ears, sending a few stickers that matched to your embarrassment.
↘ The green-haired definitely recalled this situation for the next long weeks...
↘ Without irony, you wanted to bite him.
