Does Gorm know how to show affection? actually how does your mers that interact with people learn how to show affection?

Oh he definitely shows affection, in his own way! He's very "vocal", as in he'll communicate loads with you. Sharing knowledge, experiences, ideas and so on. He'll want to tell you all about that new thing he found or where you can find a good fishing spot. Will a human understand those rapidly changing colors and happy puffs of air? No. If he likes the person, he'll want to just hang out with them, see what they're doing and so on.

Octomers in general aren't very cuddly or affectionate, being a quite solitary species. But if they do show affection it's by holding another mer's arm, or anywhere else. A small, subtle contact. And of course there's a bioluminescence display of happiness/content.

As for learned affection, Gorm's discovered that humans can give things like pets with their small hands. It's quite interesting and he wants to experience those more. And also perhaps the humans would like those pats back?

As for my other mers, some had to learn to adjust their physical displays of affection with smaller folks. Runt is a natural at adjusting and taking ques and reading body language. So he's very much selftaught! And it helps that he's not as massive as the others.

For Runt it's part of his nature and he'll happily show his affection to those comfortable with it. Saehl mers will rub and press their noses into eachother. They're quite scent oriented and the scent of a loved one is instant dopamine for them. So Runt is very content to shove his whole face into you, puffing happily. If you puff back he'll be ecstatic! He's very quick to adapt his affection to the individual and if someone doesn't want his face all over them, he'll happily pat them on the back instead for example. Saehls form very strong family bonds and friendships where touch is casual and constant. Sunbasking side by side, grooming and so on. So if anyone is in the vicinity, he'll want to be close and up in their space if possible. He'll also keep an eye on open, making sure that the people around him are happy and healthy too. If he senses a hint of sadness or anything, he'll do his best to make them feel better. He'll absolutely remind them of their doctor's appointment they told him about four weeks ago. xD

Tide is in the process of becoming more confident to express affection again. He wasn't truly part of the pod he was mostly raised in, his affection were either taken for granted or unwanted. He grew up thinking that affection just wasn't meant for him. He was extremely jealous and bitter of other mers giving and receiving affection so easily. Merry's being an excellent support/teacher there. He's awkward and flustered but they're very patient and encouraging. :)

Keiki is from a mer species that lives in tight-knit pods. So physical contact is very natural to him and something he needs to be happy. As he was raised by land folk, he got a lot of feedback and practise with them. They taught him to go slowly, to not lift them up too quickly, to be gentle and to not grab someone in a burst of affection etc. He can still be a little too quick sometimes and knows he can be too much so he tries his best to not be overwhelming, especially if he's on the larger side.

A thing he learned to adapt was hugging. When he was young he'd try to hug the ship (and nearly break it pfff) so they quickly had to steer that into a different outlet. To satiate the need for closeness, they taught him to instead bring them to a cheek, or cup them in his hands and hold them to his neck. He'll also make a very specific sound, like soft fluttering singing tones. It's a very unique sound that these mers only use to a loved one, it has many layers to it but it comes down to signal "I love you".

Keiki's also very happy to help out, little acts of service, when he's able to. He was raised in that everyone helps out and take care of eachother. Unfortunately he can be clumsy so the acts of thoughtfulness can take a wrong turn. He wants to help clean the deck of a boat? The deck gets completely soaked and things wash overboard. And he doesn't quite learn, he just keeps trying his best.™

Cetus is also from a species of mer that is very physical in their affection. It's instinctual, as natural as breathing. But unlike Keiki, he can't be as "small" as 200ft-ish and the humans were very strict in the no-touch department when he was growing up. So the lack of practise coupled with his sheer size, leaves him struggling with how to properly satiate the instinctual need to rub against a person he likes. So he's often rubbing against boats, or any other object, the person is on or try to rub his face against them directly. Which isn't very optimal.

But the current people working with him are slowly easing into being more physical with him. Like letting him touch them with a finger pad, or let him nose them. Still, no lifting them up. But they're slowly teaching him, and eachother, how to safely allow him to express affection.

Cetus will also bring gifts. They're not very nice gifts but he's doing what he can in such a restricted area. He'll gift things like seagulls (alive and somehow uninjured), a piece of the whale that was previously brought to him, half of a rusty bicycle...

No, he will not be taught otherwise. Better accept the seagull less he bring you a part of a boat.

Okay, so I’m not sure what AU exactly this would before because the Serial Killer Reader is definitely feels more Puppy in my eyes and not sure if the boys in the dlmliyh Au would vibe with this, but I have been thinking about them training the reader to be a kitten. It caused a bit of a scene, Anthea end up getting hurt and Mirabel dragged her to casita to get healed by Julieta, They became friends and Stayed with eachother, when She noticed how badly Isabela was treating Mirabel, she basically permanently made Isabela her enemy, Fighting and snapping at her if she made any mean comments about Mirabel. She purposely called Mirabel Beautiful, perfect, and The best Madrigal infront of Isabela, just to get on her nerves, but she REALLY did think about Mirabel as those things.

Growing up to 22, she is still Snappy and ignorant with a soft spot for kids. When Isabela came around she would make a comment about her saying:"are you going to pick up those petals? Or do WE have to clean up after you prima Donna?". turning it into a conversation or a disagreement. It seemed like she just wanted to Tease Isabela. Isabela gifting her the nickname Spitfire. There was something about the blindfold. Sirius was doing wonderful things further down, running his mouth along Remus’ ribs and grinding his hips in the slow rolls that usually drove him crazy, but something prodded at the edge of Remus’ mind. He blinked and made a face at the feeling of his eyelashes sliding against the fabric; he turned his head to the side, and his neck itched as the small knot moved.

“You’re quiet today,” Sirius murmured. Remus’ stomach jolted as a warm mouth attached to his hipbone and nipped a light hickey just above the waistband of his boxers, and for a brief, terrible moment, he wanted nothing to touch him ever again. Sirius’ hands were too hot on his body, his mouth too damp and unpredictable. Even the sheets were just this side of wrong.

Remus tried to look around, but the whole world was black through the soft strip of fabric. They had been careful to get it on just right and Remus had been so sure he would enjoy it. How different was it from a gag, after all?

One hand vanished from his chest and then reappeared on his mid-thigh. It wasn’t quite fear that trickled ice-cold down his spine, but something wasn’t right. He took a deep breath through his nose and closed his eyes. Sirius had been excited about this. Remus had been excited about this. Just grit your teeth and get through—

“Yellow,” he blurted, shoving himself further up the bed and fumbling to get the blindfold off. “Yellow, yellow.”

He finally gave up on the knot and yanked the blindfold over his head, breathing heavily; he could feel his hands shaking as he drew his knees up. “Yeah, yeah, all good. Just—just needed a break,” he panted as sudden nausea made goosebumps erupt on his skin.

Sirius looked more than a little concerned. “This feels like red, not yellow.”

Remus shook his head. “No, I’m fine.”

“You’re not fine.” Sirius reached out to touch his knee and he flinched away. “Re, what’s wrong?”

After a moment of internal conflict, Remus let his head fall back against the headboard with a slow exhale. Every nerve still felt crawly. “I’m sorry, love.”

“Why are you sorry?”

“Because—” He waved a hand around vaguely. “Things were happening. I killed the mood.”

“You don’t need to apologize for that. Just please tell me you’re okay.”

Remus sighed and picked at the loose thread at the edge of the blindfold. “I’m alright. I told you I wanted to do this, though.”

Sirius gently tapped his knuckles and Remus glanced up; he didn’t seem upset, just worried. “It’s okay to change your mind. Can you tell me what went wrong so I don’t do it again?”

“You didn’t do anything wrong, baby, I just didn’t like this.” He held the blindfold up and Sirius took it from him with careful hands. He couldn’t feel his heartbeat in his ears anymore, which was a good sign. “I want—I want to see you and know what’s going to happen next. I trust you with everything, but I don’t like losing the confirmation that it’s you.”

Sirius rubbed soothing circles into the side of his knee with his thumb and the touch anchored Remus a bit. “I’m sorry for not checking in more.”

Remus shook his head and, after a beat of silence, scooted closer to Sirius, who wrapped him in a tight hug and kissed the top of his head. “I feel gross,” he muttered.

“Should we take a shower and go to bed?”

“Yeah, I’d like that.”

He didn’t let go of Sirius’ hand all the way into the shower and only stepped back when the water was hot, though he didn’t close his eyes under the spray like usual. Sirius grabbed his shampoo of the shelf and opened it to pour into his hand, but Remus gently tugged it away.

“Can I?”

“Yeah, for sure.”

Instead of washing his own hair, Remus turned Sirius around and kissed the crest of his shoulder, holding his lips there for a moment. The tension melted from Sirius’ whole back as Remus laced his fingers in his hair, combing through with honey-lavender that made the steam smell like heaven. “I love your hair.”

“I know you do.” There was a smile in his voice and Remus kissed the top notch of his spine.

“Close your eyes,” he said quietly, pulling Sirius under the showerhead by his hips to wash the shampoo out. “You need a haircut, baby.”

“Who, me?” Sirius smoothed the front of his hair down—it was long enough that it completely covered his eyes and half his nose when it was water-straight instead of fluffy curls. “I feel like a sheepdog.”

“You look like one, too,” Remus teased, laughing as Sirius snatched the shampoo away and reached out to tickle his ribs. “Hey!”

“Alright, your turn.” Sirius pushed his hair into a wonky cowlick and uncapped the bottle, then raised his eyebrows. “Is it cool with you if I do it?”

“A hundred percent,” Remus said without hesitation. He turned around and took a slow breath that turned into a sigh as Sirius’ hands slid through his hair. “That’s good.”

“Are you feeling any better?”

“Loads.”

“I’m really sorry for not checking in more.”

Remus shrugged. “Live and learn, right? I’m sorry for not saying something sooner.” For a moment, the only sound was the water running down into the tub. “What’s on your mind, love?”

“You haven’t felt like this before, have you? With other stuff we tried?”

“No. Have you?”

“Not yet. I guess this was a learning moment, huh?”

Remus chewed his lip for a moment as he closed his eyes to let the soap wash away. “I meant red, not yellow.”

“I could tell.” A little bit of sadness leaked into Sirius’ voice.

“I didn’t want to kill the mood, but I was done.”

A hand pulled lightly on his shoulder and Remus turned around; Sirius cupped his jaw in his palms and made direct eye contact. “I will never, ever be upset with you for changing your mind. If you’re uncomfortable, please tell me.”

Remus curled his hand around Sirius’ and leaned their foreheads together. “Same goes for you.”

“Are you up for cuddles or do you need space?”

Remus turned the shower off and wrapped his arms around Sirius’ torso, nuzzling against his damp chest. He was tempted to say space, but he knew that contact would be the best idea in the long run; Sirius had a way of grounding him to reality, and after the jumpy nervousness from earlier, he wanted that reassurance. “Cuddles.”

“D’accord.”

They both shivered a bit as they stepped out of the steam-warmed bathroom and went back to bed, tangling their legs beneath the sheets. Remus rested his forehead on Sirius’ shoulder and breathed in the clean smell of him, running a palm in a steady oval over his abdomen. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.” Sirius gave him a little squeeze and kissed his forehead. The blindfold laid somewhere on the floor behind Remus and he closed his eyes, rubbing his cheek against soft skin. Sirius was warm and solid—there was nowhere Remus felt safer as he drifted off to sleep.

You'd really think Takeru wasn't a cat person, and yet here he is

It wasn't 'his' decision to have cats.... they kind of just gravitate to him. Like- to use Shirashi's words- he's the big boss cat.

These two old ones particularly grew attached to him. He had visited someone's house who happened to have them, and they couldn't take care of them anymore and they grew so attached to Takeru that he says he "didnt have a choice" as to whether or not he was taking them

Honestly? Takeru probably would be into taking older cats rather then younger ones. He'd also probably have a soft spot for sick ones.... ones with terminal illnesses such as cancer, or ones that just weren't wanted anymore.

He does his best to give them a comfortable life, for however long they have left

He doesn't really ever name them himself. If they already have a name that's fine, but if they happen to be a stray or something, then he'll just call them "kitty" or "cat".

He's not one to mourn very much when they die, but he did take in a younger cat once who vets said wouldn't live long due to their aggressive form of cancer

He cried when that one died. It lived a hell of a lot longer then expected due to Takeru's amazing care, and eventually had to be put down because the cancer had just taken over.

He'll only ever take in one or two at a time, and thats if there are any nearby who are older and end up following him around

Shiraishi entrusted number 1 to Takeru when number 1 got old, and Shiraishi got to tease Takeru about his liking of cats- to which Takeru calmly, albeit very annoyed-ed-ly denied

Shiraishi canonically cannot have cats prior to the events of CxM due to his busy workload. *cough*.

So it's only after meeting you that he finally ends up adopting one

Since you're available to take care of said cats, and he's more free now to take care of them... one cat quickly turns into 3, 4, or 5

If you're fine with having a TON of cats around, that's great! Shiraishi won't stop taking them in until you tell him to stop, though....

He'll take in strays, newborn kittens, expecting mama cats...

He doesn't really name them when he first takes them in, but he does eventually give them 'nicknames' that end up becoming their actual names

Funny enough, he ends up giving the most cliche names to his cats, but.... not in the way you'd think

"Whiskers" is the name of a black and white tuxedo cat who was born without whiskers

"Mittens", an orange tabby, got his name because he was found curled up in a sock as a kitten

"Snowball" is an all black cat who Shiraishi found passed out from heat exhaustion one summer

The only cat he gave a name to when he first took them in was an all white cat, who was quite mature for it's young age

It wasn't a kitten, but it wasn't very old either

This cat was standoffish, but not aggressive in the slightest. In fact, it's quite friendly with Shiraishi

This all white cat came to quickly be known as Mikuni. Mikuni the cat is quite independent, yet still has a soft spot for pets from Shiraishi!

Shiraishi LOVES being able to observe how all the cats interact with eachother, and what they do going about his (or your own!) home.

There are actually quite a few times when you'll find he's fallen asleep surrounded by cats, whether they're usually friendly/cuddly or not

In the meantime of me running out of new ideas to write for, I'm gonna share this older headcanon that I have in my draft to you:

Do we have an AU where Garou and Badd are neighbours who hated eachother but eventually become friends or more because their pets are bonded first? Despite their houses are practically side-by-side, they're always get into petty fights over something silly. Zenko guessed it was just them having secret crush on eachother but totally in denial over their feelings.

Until each of their respective pet start getting along with eachother first.

Badd has a second cat, one of Tama's kitten which Badd still keep while the others had already adopted by his classmates, a tuxedo cat who likes to intrude into Garou's house through his window and steal his breakfast or napping on top of Garou's dog.

Garou has a big white fluffy malamute dog, a puppy he got from his father Bang as a birthday gift years ago so Garou wont feels lonely in his new home, who likes to jump over Badd's -unfortunately short- fence and playing with Badd's cat on his front porch.

Although the tuxedo cat somehow really looks alike and acting just like Badd, and the giant white malamute is basically Garou's doppelganger in a dog form, they're affectionate to eachother everytime they play together.

The tuxedo cat almost never shown his adorable side of him except for Badd's family, as he would be the crankiest cat ever with any strangers. But the kitty strangely becomes attached with the fluffy dog since their first met. He always trying to get outside to see his favorite puppy friend and spend more time with the doggo, no matter what and how. The kitty just likes to be near the warm presence of that fluffy and charming dog, 3rd place after Zenko's and Badd's. Thus the tuxedo cat often caught on loitering around Garou's house, making Badd must come to his -hated- neighbour to collect the cat back.

On the other hand, at the first time coming into Garou's house, the white malamute felt a bit lonely. He was happy to have such caring hooman butler who adores him, but he wanted more friend to play with. Until the dog saw an adorable tuxedo cat chilling out in the middle of small garden on the next house across the fence. He fell in love instantly and wanna knows more about this little kitty. Cue the malamute often caught on peeking from the fence or even jumping over it, ruining Badd's small garden after it got trampled on by the dog's big paws.

Surprisingly, the cat and the dog are becomes bestfurrends much faster than their hooman butlers, putting Garou and Badd in a big shame, courtesy by the exasperated Zenko. How come two animals who are supposed to be sworn enemies, cat and dog, could be more friendly to eachother than them??

If only Garou and Badd could be more honest for their hidden feelings, maybe their relationship would improved alot. Ironically, it was their pets who helped them out.

Since their look-alike animal counterparts love eachother so much, sometimes Garou and Badd went for a play date for them on the local park, or visiting eachother's house when their pets are playing in one's house. After many friendly interactions, slowly they developed new feelings and realizing they're not frenemies anymore.

On several occasions when Garou let Badd's tuxedo cat have sleepover on his house, he was witnessing how affectionate the "so-called crankiest cat in the world" towards his malamute dog could be.

The cat always grooming the dog's fluffy fur or his head not caring about their size difference, snuggling with the dog and trying to fit himself into the dog's space as close as possible asking for a cuddle time together, letting out those rare sweet meows everytime he tried to get attention from the dog, giving those slow-blinks kitty kisses whenever they're gazing on eachother or gentle headbutts whenever the dog feels sad, etc.

Garou often wished if it was Badd and him in those positions, feeling pathetic for getting so envious for their pets' lovey dovey moments. He admitted to himself that secretly he fell in love with Badd, especially after they're finally get along after spending more time with him nowadays.

But Garou still couldn't confess his feeling he has for Badd since he doesn't know if Badd likes him enough or not. It would be very awkward moment if Badd rejected him and they ended up back into square one, ruining whatever friendship they have built together before.

Unbeknown by Garou, Badd was also experiencing the same thing. Everytime Badd pet-sitting Garou's dog for awhile whenever Garou wasn't home to visit his father's house, or watching over his cat playing with the big white malamute at his front yard, he couldn't deny that the relationship their pets were having together was very sweet, actually.

The malamute always so playful and becomes such an attention seeker around his cat, also being all goof and adorkable despite most of the time the dog was just like his owner: chaotic cocky bastard (at least in Badd's eyes). Successfully turning his own grumpy cranky cat into a cuddly soft kitty.

Especially when they both were chilling out on the front porch, Badd would find them curling up together with his cat buried himself into the malamute's fluffy fur, sleeping between the dog's front paws, or peacefully loafing on his back.

One time the malamute also protecting his cat from a gang of neighbourhood feral cats, Badd totally didn't expect that goofy cloud of fur could be looking so terrifying like a wolf when he was in protective mode. Fortunately there's no actual fight happening between them and those feral cats, though. But Badd could see his kitty becomes much more affectionate than before towards Garou's dog as an appreciation.

Badd knows he shouldn't be envious for his own pet because the kitty has a better relationship than himself, yet he couldn't help but longing for Garou's love.

At that time, they have already managed to form a good friendship and Badd was glad they're not fighting out of pettiness anymore. It was just, Badd starting to see Garou as more than a friend. Since they become closer, he has discovered Garou's softer side and Badd was fallen so hard for him because of it.

The problem is only how to confess to Garou without ended up being awkward. He didn't want to misinterpreted Garou's flirty acts towards him during those "play date" time. Did Garou really means his flirtateous attempts as a serious thing or just a joke? If he misinterpret it, Badd was afraid he would be a laughing stock for Garou while he suffered a broken heart alone.

So, in the end, Garou and Badd were still being so oblivious to the other's very OBVIOUS feeling. Everyone around them could see the former hating neighbours slowly falling in love with eachother, yet never make a move. Very frustating to watch, honestly.

But at one night, when the exhausted-from-working Badd visiting Garou's house to retrieve his cat back home, he decided to take a brief nap on the living room. Garou asked if he wanna have sleepover over there since it was weekend, and he would let Zenko knows that her big brother was staying overnight at his home. Badd just nodded weakly, already feels the sleepiness coming for him.

Looking at how uncomfortable Badd's sleeping position on the couch, Garou carefully lifted Badd up in bridal style, before walking towards his bedroom so Badd could sleep on his cozy bed while Garou sleeps on the couch. But before he could leave, Badd grabbed Garou's hand to prevent him from leaving him alone. He told Garou that they could sleep together on the bed, since it was Garou's own bed and it's big enough for two people.

At first, Garou was hesitated because what if Badd just sleep-talking in half-sleep and would regret any of his words in the morning? But seeing Badd's reddened face yet still persistent on making Garou stay based on the strong grip of Badd's hand on his wrist, Garou was grinning happily. That means Badd was fully conscious of what he had said and taking it serious.

Hence Garou immediately scooting over beside Badd on the bed, taking a warm blanket and covered their bodies with it. Then Badd shifted closer until he was practically curling up against Garou's body like a cat, seeking warmth from the wolfy man. Even purring and snuggling on Garou's chest when Garou put his arm on Badd's back, embracing the smaller man which made Badd gets comfortable sleep. Soon enough Garou also followed Badd to the dreamland.

Meanwhile..

Both were oblivious that two pairs of eyes were watching them from the opened door. The kitty and the dog felt happy that their butlers finally having sweet moment of their own, too. They wished the hoomans would keep being lovey-dovey so the four of them could have double date together soon. Like, a real date and not the "play date" anymore.

It was so tiring to see the butlers' mutual pining, in which it took forever to make them realized their own feelings. But now that the mutual pining era was over, they feel relieved.

The malamute dog entered Garou's bedroom, then laid on a fluffy carpet beside the bed while staring at the cat, as if he was inviting the cat to join him. The tuxedo cat quietly following him and plopped on the dog's belly, curling up into a small ball of fur before closing his eyes.

The cat was purring in joy when the dog gave kisses to him (or more like muzzle nudging), before putting his front paw around kitty's body in a protective manner. The fluffy duo then also following their butlers into dreamland, too.

Now, both of the sleeping couples looked the same: Badd and the kitty were sleeping in their respective lover's warm embrace..

I love how, of all things, they gotta have their PETS lay it out for them before they finally start to Get It™️. Like everyone around them sees it but nope 😤 they’re wrong, they’re meant to hate each other.

But when their pets become bff’s despite the obvious size difference and being entirely different SPECIES... Oh ok maybe we can get along 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

mileven was so much better in season 1 and 2, what the heck the writers think they're doing with their love story? Geez, it didn't even felt like mike and eleven was that strong of a couple we saw in previous seasons, if I hadn't seen their story before I would say their relationship is completely fragile based on what we saw in season 3, the comedic part and when they break up it quite felt like a shitty fanfic to me, it could've been written in a better way even with comedic moments, im mad.

Yeah I think a lot of us mileven shippers are feeling this.

S1 was so cute where they were slowly starting to open up to each other and trust each other. It was soft and pure.

S2 was angsty but you could tell all they wanted was to see eachother again. They really did care for each other.

This season was an odd one. At the start they were just how I imagined they'd be. Clingy, cuddly, obsessed with each other. Which is fair enough since they'd gone 353 apart. But I thought they couldn't break up because of this. That they had been through so much to be together that something so small as Mike making a little mistake not seeing El for one day just seemed out of character. Without Max's influence I don't think they would've broken up. I guess they needed time to figure out who they are and maybe they were a little bit too clingy but they were happy. They were happy being together like that.

I would've thought Mike would've fought more to keep El from breaking up, and I would've thought El would've stood up to Max a little more defending Mike.

Idk the breakup just didn't seem like they handled it rationally which I get since they aren't adults. But the thing is their relationship is not a normal teen one. It never has been. From the start they were set on a path from something else. They didn't meet and fall in love under normal circumstances.

Everything they've shared and been through tells us this isn't a normal teen relationship, it's something stronger. So it being broken like that didn't sit right with me. The stuff that has happened to them has shown us these kids are slightly more mature than their peers (trauma can age people), and they're always going on about the rules of the party, how they don't lie and how they need to deal with things rationally.

I just thought mileven would've been able to work though an argument together, not just break up. I mean I guess they did kind of work through it together but even by the end they didn't fully seem back to where they were even though she said she loves him.

Anyway again I may just be biased but that's my take on it
