Justin paced the kitchen. His father should be home by now. It was getting dark.
"Hey, Justin, buddy!"
Justin perked up at the familiar voice. Finally!
"Hi Dad! You're finally home!" Justin squeaked.
"Yes, buddy, I am. But only for an hour or two, alright? I assume you've already made yourself dinner? What do ya want to do tonight?" He ruffles Justin's hair playfully.
"I have made dinner! Broccoli and porkchops, just like you said!" Justin smiled.
His dad laughed once and smiled back down proudly. "That's good."
Justin watched him as his father stumbled away into the living room and slump down on the couch.
"Are you okay...?" Justin asked cautiously.
His dad said nothing, but motioned for his son to join him. Which Justin did.
They both settled peacefully into the couch. His dad grabbed the remote and began clicking through different channels, eventually landing on their favorite, TMNT.
Justin laid his head on his dad's shoulder and smiled as the show continued playing. Things flew across the screen as the bad guys tossed debris at the humanoid turtles
After an hour, his dad gently moved Justin off.
"Dad?" Justin asked. "Where are you going?"
"I have to get to work again, son. I'll see you tomorrow?" His dad gets up and quickly darts around the house, gathering everything he needs.
The show forgetten, Justin gets up from the couch and grabs his dad's hand before he leaves the house.
"Please don't go dad." Justin whimpered. "I can't live without you."
His dad sighed. "Buddy, you know pretty much everything there is. You can do this I promise." He starts out the door again. Justin doesnt let go.
"But what if you never come back?" A loud shout comes from the TV, almost drowning out his plead.
His dad sighs again and turns around to crouch before Justin. "I'll be back son. I will always come back." And with that, Justin lets go of his hand, and his dad stands up, turns around, and closes the door behind him.
Justin is left staring at the door. A single tear runs down his face. His father...never came back.

Thoughts on the Baxter being black or white discourse?
Funny you send this ask anon because I won't lie to you I was LITERALLY Planning on making this post on my own one day when I got the time to. But uhhhh looks like you just sped up that process so let's just get down to it then.
First starting with a history lesson. All starting and going way back to 1984 when Baxter was born. (Well. In our world at least. Cus in actual comic continuity he was born in 1948.)
After the first issue of TMNT was a success, Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird of course got to work making another comic so it can be an official series. And when you have a new hero or heroes, you gotta have more villains for them to fight. And that second big baddie happened to be Baxter.

We can see here in this image above us that during his designing phase, Baxter funny enough had 2 different designs. One white design & one Black one. Showing us that it actually would have been an either or decision with how he would have ended up as. But of course, the 2 men obviously settled on the black one

And for a good couple of years that's just how it always was. At least until the 87 cartoon came out & we were re-introduced to Baxter looking noticeably different..
Baxter in his first outside comic book appearance had been one of the first of many POC characters to have been whitewashed (those unaware, whitewashing is when a character of a certain ethnicity/race is portrayed or designed as a Caucasian). And the reason for this massive change is STILL, to this day is a bit of a mystery. Like you & many suspected, why not go up to Kevin & Peter themselves & ask them why this happened? Or if they even had a role in it? From every source I could find & the only answer I really got was that Kevin & Peter had no idea why they changed him either! BUT they actually didn't really mind or care because if we go back to Baxter's concept art, he was ALMOST Going to be white anyway so if anything the show just made their "what if" choice a reality. At the end of the day, they didn't really care & I don't blame them since Baxter's race wasn't really a key part of his character. But I'll get to that in a minute.
Another consistent answer or rumor I hear about this change is because the showrunners didn't want the risk of being labeled as "racist". Because Baxter's role in the first cartoon was simply a "Weak subservient henchman who constantly refers to his boss as "Master" ".
*winces teeth* yeaaaaa I can kinda see what they mean by that looking bad..
But hang on now, then what about Bebop?

Before his mutation, he was noticeably black & he was turned into a pig that's ordered around & takes tons of verbal & physical abuse from his master and even called him that once yet nobody's batted an eye about that??? (Plus said Master is Asian Soo)
Well my personal best guess on why Bebop is overlooked could be for the following reasons:
He's a mutant. Yes he started off as a human being. But for the rest of the entire series aside from 2 instances to my knowledge, he's a mutant warthog. And not exactly a brown one either.. So for people starting off watching TMNT, they probably have no idea he was human or even black for that matter.
Some people don't even know he's black! Again. I imagine most people's first introduction to him was from a random episode & they never saw what he looked like as a human. And it's not like his voice actor was convincing of being otherwise either. Barry Gordon is obviously not African-American nor did he sound like one like most modern non black voice actors. In fact Bebop's voice is far from it. As a black person who has grown up in multiple areas of NY. Including the bad parts where thugs like Bebop reside. I can say. I have never once met or even heard another black person talk or sound the way he does.
Oddly enough, Bebop has actually been whitewashed himself two times. In the Archie comics & even in one of his first action figures to which again I personally chalk this up to people just not knowing he was black

3. And finally last. Rocksteady. Bebop is just tweedleDee of TweedleDumb. Rocksteady is his just as stupid best friend & are rarely to almost never seen separated from each other. So he's given the same treatment as Bebop & written just as much the same. You can't really tell the difference between the two. Or I can't really since I don't know or care much about their 80s counterparts. They're pretty much the same character. Henchman/Comic relief goons not really meant to be taken or thought of that seriously. And it's because of these reasons why I think Bebop is pardoned from receiving racial backlash. He's just a funny mutant goon & like Baxter, being black's not really a big key part of his character. Which again. I'll get to.
Back to Baxter. Whether it was because of avoiding backlash, or because they wanted to give his mirage concept art a chance, or they just wanted to cash in on Back to the Future.

Baxter Stockman was now a white man & that was just the way it was for a VERY VERY long time.

In fact, I came across at least 5 80s & 90s kids that GENUINELY Thought Baxter was ALWAYS a white guy. The damage had already been done that severely until 2001 teased what would eventually be the 2003 series & Baxter had at long last returned to his true African-American roots.

And it's been the go-to norm ever since (with a few occasional slip ups)

But it's because of these slip ups that a little bit of controversy started regarding Baxter's race. Especially with the possibility of turning him white again in a random adaptation. Most people prefer it while others are strongly against it especially on account of the fact that TMNT completely lacks black characters to which, they are not wrong about. At all!
Aside from Baxter & Bebop. The only black characters in TMNT we had for the longest was Angel & Xever (He's Afro-Brazillian before you idiots come at me) & it's opened up a pretty collar tugging realization the only black characters in TMNT all seem to be bad guys. It's honestly no wonder why people want to make more original ones like Sunita from Rise & make April Black like said Rise & Mutant Mayhem. April herself actually falling into this similar category as Baxter because she's actually had a bounce back & forth from being black & white in the mirage comics. (But I am not going to get into that because that whole thing is honestly ITS OWN Very confusing can of worms that literally anybody else can cover if they want to)
From what I've seen & gathered, Baxter remaining black is a big deal for most people because it branches out the black diversity in the TMNT mythos & it's just a core part of his character. Which I'm finally going to get to.
The thing is... It's really not.
Yes Baxter Stockman is an African-American man. But. That's not ALL he is. He's a super genius, he's intimidating, he's only looking out for himself, he doesn't care how much stronger or powerful you may be than him, he'll find a way to take you out or use you for his own benefits. Any piece of technology in his hands equals horrible news! He's your textbook definition of an evil genius! He just HAPPENS to be black! It doesn't matter what color he is, Baxter Stockman will always be Baxter Stockman. I feel like he would have been the same character regardless if Kevin & Peter DID go with his white design way back in 1984! Realistically, what difference would it have made?
In every single adaptation that Baxter's appeared in, in every single story focused on him, where he himself is the main character: His race has never ONCE been brought up.
Not a SINGLE TIME has him being a black man affected his life, development or any other aspect of his livelihood. Of all 20 interactions that Baxter has appeared in. Not ONCE. did he ever bring up being black. Nor did somebody else bring up that he's black. Not a single time, has that ever been a focus or key part of his story. For the same reason why any other characters like him or not like him haven't. The same reason why Dr. Robotnik/Eggman being white isn't brought up or focused on, or why Medic (TF2) being German isn't focused on, or even Willem Viceroy iii (Randy Cunningham) being a black scientist himself isn't even touched on! Their races aren't their characters, it just happens to be a fact about them! And the same should go for Baxter! Especially when you take in & remember the fact that he was almost never gonna be black in the first place.
Now I'm not saying that you shouldn't care about him being black or white, or that him being black shouldn't matter to you. I know from experience that we see ourselves in some fictional characters, good guy or bad guy. Especially if they share the same skin color as you. I probably wouldn't have latched onto Baxter like I did if it wasn't for him reminding me of my then afro wearing, nerdy 12 year old self at the time, but I know he's more than just his race & that's what I do want the fans to see when it comes to talking about him.
Now because I know I'll get this question either later on or in the comments of this post I will answer it beforehand.
Do I like Baxter better as a black person or a white person?
And to be completely & Brutally honest with all of you: . . . I genuinely don't mind either or. 🤷🏿♀️
I honest to God. Don't mind what Baxter looks like. I WILL admit, I do heavily prefer he be black. But if he happens to be white, then I don't mind it tbh. To me. When it comes to an adaptation of Baxter Stockman. The only thing that really matters to me is how he's written. As long as he's written well I don't mind or care at all what color he is. But again. I would prefer him black, still either or is fine by me.
What about you guys tho? I'm genuinely curious/interested about how YOU 🫵🏿 prefer he look like? Do you guys like him better being black? Or white? Can be any reason why. Could be cus you relate more, or you grew up with him being that way. Just as long as it's a reason. Be fun to discuss 🤗

REMEMBER???
GUYS, another passion of mine that played a big part in my life is the cartoon "Mao Mao: heroes with pure heart."
Analyzing this masterpiece by Parker Simmons, I noticed that his enormous passion for Japanese culture, and he did not fail to include numerous references from Japanese folklore(even more than the traditional ones TMNT 2012)
Furthermore, I noticed animal species and I would love to show you what I researched about the name and meaning of some of the animal species present in this magnificent cartoon (PART 1):
•MAO MAO MAO
(yes, that's his full name 😆)

Let's start with the protagonist, and my favorite character, Mao Mao.
They might look at him and say "he's just a black cat with green eyes", but for those who didn't know, analyzing his physical characteristics, I saw he is a Bombay Cat.
Also known as the Bombay cat, he is a cat of American origin, this species is like a mini panther (very apparent in some cases throughout the series where he makes panther roars), Its name was chosen to honor India, the region of the black panther.
But even so, he is super cute, and he doesn't really like being alone, he is playful and mischievous, very extroverted, and even purrs, not at all treacherous (looks a little like him). Its bad reputation could probably also be a reference to the size of the animal in real life, as it is very small, and to its superstition, originated in the Middle Ages, when it was believed that felines, due to their nocturnal habits, had a part with the devil, and if the cat was black, usually associated with the darkness, even worse for him.
So his father Shin Mao is also of this species
Since they are both small cats.
"Shin Mao, I hate you.....😤"
•Badgerclops:
*my mind 🤯*

When I saw the real species of this character... it had never made so much sense before:
Introducing, the Meles anakuma (or Japanese Badger), he is a species of omnivores, and is endemic to Japan.
It's not his case but, in Japanese folklore, the badger has cultural significance, often portrayed as a shape-shifting creature with mystical qualities. These folktales and cultural insights had influenced
•Adorabat:

I suspected the cutest little thing, Adorabat, was a vampire bat due to its nose
ADORABAT'S NOSE / VAMPIRE BAT'S NOSE

But this bat's diet is only the blood of cows and sheep, so it doesn't work, and I found the closest species to the species of this cute little girl

This species of bat is insectivorous, just like she, also called Free-tailed bat.
It has pointy ears and is very small, they live in resting places near water and mainly in caves, but they also find refuge in mines, bridges and even tunnels and abandoned buildings.

heeey idk if you're active and you may have seen this but youtube watch?v=apOGUrqIQ_M, the OFFICIAL tmnt channel put out a leo/karai moments video. the name of the video even includes the blue and black hearts. i think the writers were kinda dumb with making karai splinter's daughter but the writers' intentions were not having them be incest. they're just in a weird position where one was biologically related to splinter (karai) but not raised by him, and the other was not biologically related to splinter (leo) but raised by him.
i also think ppl trying to be so insistent on splinter being leo's biological dad is weird bc leo has BLUE eyes and even if mutation took the dna like that, he'd share it with a kids' dna or the shop keepers or some in the sewers. even though splinter and leo don't share genetics, splinter is still just as much leo's dad. it's fine ppl being uncomfy with it but attacking shippers is stupid bc it's not incest.
i think the fact that's the only thing ppl can come up with to talk shit about it shows that leorai has a lot going for it. and at least leo didn't decide to change karai's name to an artwork of a woman painted by a man which is objectifying and creepy cough cough raph/mona cough
Hi, yes still active! I did in fact see the Leorai compilation on the official channel, yeah! I was happy that they were acknowledging Leorai as a semi-canon ship (tho the actual video barely has any Leorai moments; more like Leo vs Karai moments lol).
Yes I agree that Leo and Karai were put in a awkward position by the writers whereby one is Splinter's biological child (Karai) but not raised by him, and one is his child by lifelong bond (Leo) but not by blood. However the intention wasn't incest, the writers just over-complicated Karai's backstory imo because she was introduced as Leo's love interest/rival (and arguably created the most interesting dynamic for Leo AND the best romantic pairing in the show), so revealing her as Miwa makes it harder to explain to those non-shippers, ESPECIALLY if their introduction to Leo and Karai was via Rise where they actively state that the TMNT are related to Splinter AND refer to Karai as 'gran-gran' (Rise Leo and Karai should NOT be shipped). I understand the confusion from a surface level, but it's why you really have to pay attention to Leo and Karai's interactions after she's revealed as Miwa to show that they don't view each other as siblings (peep my pinned post where I go in-depth about this). And yeah, but in all honesty people just love to talk shit about ships that they don't like or throw shade at it constantly - kiiinndaa like what you did with RaMona /lh I know some of the RaMona shippers tend to hate on Leorai cuz some (emphasis on SOME) tend to see RaMona as the superior ship (it's solid but I definitely see some flaws; such as Mona abandoning her mission to save her planet from destruction for some guy she met like THREE TIMES AND THEN NOT APPEAR AGAIN-), but don't stoop to their level - just ignore their trash talk and enjoy Leorai <3

Why Lou?
I'm assuming you're referring as to why this musical is centered around Lou Jitsu?
In all honesty, all the credit goes to a post I came across while casually going about my day. I was in need of a project to hyperfixate on, and to just keep myself busy!
But on the other hand, I've always had a sort of soft spot for rise!Splinter.
Yes, he can be a terrible father, at times even neglectful, but I feel it just adds to the charm of the show itself. Many people hated on Rise of the TMNT for being different from other iterations because of the vibrant colors, and the artstyle, and especially the characters.
I know the basic "people hate the turtles because they're different," but I don't see enough people including the fact that a huge part of why RotTMNT is hated on is because of this iteration's version Splinter.
Calling him a lousy father and master, rise!Splinter has gotten a lot of hate, and I'll be the first to admit that, yes, he does deserve some of it, but I can sympathize with him.
Not only did he watch his mother "die" as a child [when he was probably around the age of six or seven mind you], he had to grow up on his own.
Later he chose to chase after his dreams of becoming a Hollywood star, even if it meant leaving his childhood behind. I know some people call him rude or heartless for leaving Grandpa Sho so easily, but if I speak anymore about their relationship I might end up going on a rant that spoils the whole musical-
Afterwards he finds that the woman he loves is not even human, gets down on one knee only, to get rejected, kidnapped, and forced to fight to the death!
And after all of that, he's kidnapped once more and has his DNA stolen, which is used in an experiment without his consent, and then out of no where, with no warning whatsoever, he's a father of four!
After all of this, I wouldn't blame him for wanting to take things easy.
Sure, yes, he was a terrible dad, but he changes. He grows as a character, and it's evident throughout the series [Might touch this topic some other day] as he grows to accept his ancestry as a part of him, and if this isn't enough to make you want to produce a whole musical, I don't know what is. /lh

I woke from my sleep with tmnt thoughts I must share!
Okay so turtles forever was the first tmnt crossover both for use and I’m pretty sure for the turtles to. So with that in mind…
I wanna rant about trans dimensional turtles from 2012. For starters, we all know this wasn’t the 1987 turtles first rodeo with other universes and I’m glad it feels like it too. But also- when the two Donnie’s go to dimension prime… I did kinda hoped 1987 Donnie would make some reference to meeting the prime turtles before but… he just doesn’t remember it at all?
You may say “oh maybe Turtles Forever comes after this?” Okay then why is dimension travel foreign to the 1987 turtles? Why can’t Donnie recreate his portal gun from trans dimensional turtles and instead made the flashlight stick thing? It doesn’t make sense and if they wanted it to be like that I feel like they could’ve made it work. Did they want to retcon turtles forever? Well- wasn’t turtles forever the thing to cap off. The 2003 series? You can’t retcon a finale like that…
Okay- maybe I’m looking to much into what was a silly episode in my least favorite arc of the 2012 series. Fine. Let’s talk about the like… two or three episode long crossover between 2012 and 1987. This would’ve been a great chance to make references to or use a story that pays homage to Turtles Forever. Im not asking for something big persay. Even a passing comment from 1987 Shredder being like “oh man I hope this universes Shredder isn’t crazy like that last guy.” Or from one of the 1987 turtles being like “if I had a nickle Everytime Shredders gone to another universe and started trouble I’d have two nickels.” (This would work since shredder wasn’t involved in trans dimensional turtles and would be an obvious reference to turtles forever.)
But no. Yet again, there’s no mention of anything that happened in turtles forever. The 1987 turtles aren’t as goofy so maybe you can say their a bit more mature from that adventure. Okay, fine. I also can excuse their fighting style because, well, that’s just how they normally fight. Even in turtles forever they fight in their cartoonish ways. The 2012 turtles have to teach the 1987 turtle ✨violence✨. I’m okay with that. I’m just not okay with how turtles forever was just… kinda forgotten about? Mentioning it even a little bit wouldn’t have hurt, and probably would’ve gotten people who hadn’t seen the movie interested and they would’ve watched it.
TLDR: i woke up mad about the inconsistencies in tmnt crossover episodes and how they just never acknowledge turtles forever. Am I reading to much into it? Maybe. Am I still mad about it? Yes.
Also hot take, the only reason why the 1987 turtles get crossovers with 2012 (and why I believe any other future crossover will include the 1987 turtles) is for merch because I swear all tmnt merch I see casually is of the 1987 turtles. You want other stuff that isn’t the latest MM you gotta search.
#thanks for coming to my ted talk#tmnt 2012#tmnt#teenage mutant ninja turtles#turtles forever#tmnt 1987#whoa! what kinda turtle reality is this?!#- 1987 Donnie in trandimensional turtles when falling into the prime universe as if he DIDNT have to go there to save existence itself

Garnet's Universe
This episode was such a Gamer Moment™.
Also speaking of that. Why did this show turn into Chrono Trigger out of nowhere? That is like the last game I was expecting a reference to.

I'm not upset it's just, whenever cartoons reference video games, it's always just typically one of 4 things: Mario, Sonic, Pokémon, or any 80s arcade game. You're lucky if they even take a whiff of any game outside of Nintendo or the NES Era type shit. Like games just don't exist beyond anything released in the 80s. Every game is Pac-Man Era shit. That includes this show because I know I didn't point it out but YES I did see the sanic meme figurine & the other various Nintendo easter eggs like the Zelda or mario figures. I saw those. It's just that it's 2023 & I think that I would have found a sanic doodle joke much funnier back in 2013. Y'know, back when I was 13. Nowadays seeing that easter egg just made me feel like an aging fossil & I didn't wanna talk about that lmao.
Also ok so like Usagi Yojimbo from TMNT just decided he's gonna show up in this show & y'know what I'm cool with that. Wasn't expecting to be seeing that of all things. But I ain't complaining about TMNT stuff.

Also I'm glad this episode finally answered my burning question of what this show would look like while running on a PS2. (Also holy shit this one background specifically is so fucking good IM GONNA EAT THIS SHOWS ART DIRECTION ITS SO FUCKING GOOD AAAAAAAA)

Also is that a fucking WII U???? OH MY GOD THIS IS SO 2013 IT HURTS. I FEEL OLD. I HATE IT. AAAAAAAAAA-

Also holy shit gamer reference no way!!

Okay honestly I love how Steven's story is framed in a vaguely video gamey aesthetic. It's certainly in character for him & it's extremely charming as fuck. This episode was just filler. Obviously. I can smell the filler. But this is the GOOD kind of filler. The kind of filler that ends up being just as awesome as the more "important" episodes. Like this episode was so silly I love it. It's adorable.
Also I humbly believe that Garnet was joking about the NO at the end & that this is all totally canonically what happened fr fr.

Hmmm…. Okay. One last post. My final verdict of Netflix atla is:
7/10, it’s not bad. It’s best viewed as supplementary to the original, not your first introduction to the series.
Did it make some questionable choices? Yes. Was it a one-to-one adaptation? Obviously not. But ffs, it’s not the end of the world. After going off the rails about Yue last night, I’m giving y’all a readmore this time bc I actually know it’ll be long.
I’m going to try to split this up into categories, so here we go.
The pros
Casting. Excellent casting. 10/10 no* notes. Everyone sounded the part, which, when adapting an iconic animated series imo, is the most important aspect. Think of the tmnt. Different cast each time, but the vibe of each turtle’s performance/voice remains consistent.
Costuming & set pieces. Again, fantastic visuals with just the right amount of realism.
Consolidation choices. I’ll say it. I thought they did an excellent job of condescending 20 22-minute episodes into 8 ~55-minute episodes. I thought centering so many different plots in Omashu was insanely clever and worked really well.
Azula. I liked the choice to have the audience meet Azula early. Letting us get a sneak peak into Ozai’s manipulation of her, as well as the overt reference to the Mother of Faces makes me think we might get Azula’s redemption shown on screen.
Children. Those Are Children. Those are children witnessing the horrors of war, which can be easily forgotten watching animated characters, but holy fuck those are CHILDREN.
Death. We’re straight up killing people on scream. Burning them alive even.
Iroh. I specifically want to shoutout Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. Mako made the role of Iroh legendary, a performance that’s difficult to follow and harder to capture correctly, but I think Lee absolutely crushed it. He wasn’t trying to perfectly imitate Mako, but that was the correct choice imo. He made it his own and successfully captured the essence of the character.
The mids/“that doesn’t make sense”
Bumi. Why’d they make him so cynical? Like, he was the opposite of how he should be. It’s not supposed to be up to Aang to teach Bumi that hopes still exists, it’s Bumi’s job to teach him that! Like that is the whole point of him being the one (1) person still alive that Aang knew.
Secret tunnel. An interesting enough solution to get Katara and Sokka to Aang, but at the same time…did that not move the tunnels into Omashu? Like it’s not a way in, it’s now a way into the heart of the dungeons? And sure, having it be a sibling bonding moment for Sokka and Katara was nice, but also…fuck you? The crystals ARE the answers. Iirc the badger moles didn’t sense emotions, they vibed to the music. I know I’m a kataang fan but even I cringed at the lights out kiss. But lights out should’ve still been the answer.
Did…did Aang never placate the forest spirit? Sure he planted the acorn but that didn’t like…do, the same thing this time. Speaking of spirits, they didn’t make Aang all that spiritual. He mentions having spiritual training with the monks plenty of times but he’s not actually like, attuned to them
Homeboy did not learn an OUNCE of water bending. Didn’t even try. I know he’s not on a time crunch (yet) but jfc practice with Katara at least??
Everything about Yue. I already went off on this, and it’s not really that bad, but it’s definitely mid. From her wonky wig, to her nonexistent ethereal moon eyes, to all the small changes that take the wind out of her tragedy—I’m a huge Yue fan. And while these changes are nicer for her, they’re a detriment to the overall narrative.
Wan Shi Tong. Having him just sorta…be there, and making it so only Aang can understand him is one hell of a choice, and does not fill me with faith that they’ll include the library in season 2, which is like…so pivotal on so many front, it’s truly the lynch pin of everything in book 2.
Ty Lee and Mai. They should not have been there. It’s one thing to show Azula getting manipulated by her dad, but legit why are the girlies here? Is it super funny to see these literal children and know they’re just a middle school mean girl clique? Absolutely. But the narrative purpose of Ty Lee and Mai is that they’re NOT there to support Azula.
The fucking… War tactics? Make no sense. You can’t “distract” from Omashu by laying siege to the North. These things are not connected or even associated. They are not allies. Forces were not diverted. Your logic isn’t logicing.
The cons (I’m super mad about)
None of the characters are angry enough. They nerfed Katara’s rage at being denied being taught by Paku. They striped Aang’s righteous spiritual fury (and placed it all on the ocean spirit? Hello??), and ohhh my godddd how did they take out most if not all of Zuko’s anger?? Where’s the brashness? The hotheadedness? The getting so worked up he stops thinking? He’s too fucking mellow. Did I enjoy him getting to be soft with Iroh? Yes. But god, at what cost? I know we as the fandom like to flanderize him as a soft autistic king, but that’s at least post book 3! Book 1 Zuko is a mess and a tragedy!
Speaking of Zuko, holy fuck they fucked up the Agni Kai so bad. I know I went off about this in a previous post but it bears so much repeating. He’s supposed to grovel for his father’s forgiveness, not be given and take the opportunity to fight back. So much of Iroh’s guilt is meant to come from not stepping in to stop his brother, not making a halfhearted attempt. OZAI IS NOT MEANT TO SHOW EVEN AN IOTA OF REMORSE. NEXT POINT—
OZAI. Let me just say, perfect casting. I love Daniel Dad Kim and I think he was the perfect choice, but it’s not his fault how Ozai was written/directed. WHY DOES HE LOOK REMORSEFUL SO MUCH? WHY DOES HE ACT LIKE HE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT ZUKO? WHY ON GODS GREEN EARTH DID THEY TRY TO HUMANIZE THE NARCISSISTIC MACHIAVELLIAN GOD COMPLEX VILLAIN! Part of what makes his downfall so perfect is that he’s shown mercy! That Aang DOESNT kill him! That he’s so thoroughly and remorselessly evil that literally everyone is saying “he needs to fucking die” and Aang spares him. He does not get to go out in a blaze of glory, he goes slowly, with a whimper! And all the poetic justice of that decision gets sucked out of you allow him even an INCH to show regret. A character willing to burn his son’s face off for being disrespectful is not a character that would regret that decision.
The gaang are barely coworkers. The heart of this show is the bonds between the core cast, and I never once felt like Aang and Katara/Sokka truly meant the world to each other. They say it. A lot of but they don’t show it. That chemistry is not there. It’s like watching goddamn Voltron and getting to the final season and thinking “this found family doesn’t even like each other.” The show spends so much time reinforcing the peripheral bonds of Aang and Zuko, and Katara and Sokka, that it drops the entire ball of Aang/Sokka/Katara.
*gestures vaguely to making everything about the moon spirit so fucking convoluted*It didn’t have to be a series of conveniences. You’re allowed to just fire punch a fish to death.
That’s all I can think of for now. I know there’s some HUGE cons but the worst of them are spread out. This is by far not the worst adaptation Netflix has ever put out. It’s certainly not OPLA (*chef’s kiss*), but it’s not Death Note either. It’s fine, really. It’s a pretty good watch. I do hope they finish out the series so we can finally, FINALLY have a live action Toph, but also because I’m so curious how the changes will compound. How differently these choice will go, and what new plots we could get from that. I could even see how we could get to fucking zukka from here, and while I absolutely do not think they’ll do that, it’s a fascinating possibility that’d be totally plausible from where we are. I want them to divert even further if they continue. I want this version to justify its existence in some significant way, even if it’s just “actually let’s redeem Azula during the conflict.”
But not Ozai. Fuck that. If they redeem Ozai, we riot.

My take on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. P2, Positive review!
I included the pros and cons on the previous slam- but I didn’t really give it too many pros. I decided to make a part two because ima admit- I was harsh haha
ROTTMNT is fashionable, aesthetic, fun, colorful, and so much more. I was hyped to find out that Nickelodeon was making a new TMNT series. I still believe that the personalities of the turtles are really different, but it doesn’t make them terrible! I mean Donnie is literally a genius, Mikey looks so much more huggable, Raph literally is boyfriend material, and I KIN to Leo.
Even though I described it as “the high school girl” side of me, it is still a big side of me. I cannot with that fashion episode- my greedy hands can’t wait to draw Leo in a suit. I already drew Donnie (I used a reference- I didn’t trace. Just in case you find something similar to it. I don’t use refs anymore, but I drew that when I need refs. Of course I need the occasional pose and anatomy help- but that’s really all.) I also made an animatic on scratch on the ye old days of ROTTMNT.
The aesthetic of Rise is unmatched to any other show. Literally cannot find any tv series close to it. It’s original- and that’s why I slammed so hard on it. With originality, comes infinite pros and cons. I am speechless with this show for the most part- and that slam I made was a mash up of a lot of different opinions from multiple people. I read articles before I made it, then finalized it in my own words.
I have one guilty wish to all ye animators and artists. Please do more x YNs. I’m kinda tired of seeing post apocalypse headcanons lol sorry. I also live for the New York aesthetic and the bright lighting and colors.
I know this positive review is short, but I am writing this at a restaurant currently and don’t feel like looking up articles with opinions on ROTTMNT. That was a lot of research I did.
Once more- i truly love Rise and I hope you understand that the slam was just exactly that. A slam. Despite that, I truly want to know your thoughts on upcoming content: should I do a movie review for rise? Want some headcanons? How about art? And because I’m currently vibing with four followers, I’ll take in free self/OC inserts and draw you with your favorite turtle or April! As well as headcanons. I’ll also take in ideas for a one shot book, Quotev quiz, fan fiction, and a possible animatic.
As always, I hope you enjoyed your time on my blog my feathered friend. Thank you for reading my two part review!

Bayverse WIP
I don't think many really noticed, but I haven't posted anything recently on Something Wicked. Specifically, this is because I have been working on a Bayverse project for a bit. And, really, I haven't mentioned much about it until now because: #1 - I am not sure how it will be received; and #2 - I don't want to post any part of it until it is completely written (too often have I left readers of my WIPs hanging in the middle).
To clarify a bit, since the Bayverse movies did not get a threequel, I thought I would write one, myself. A few notes about it:
It is written as a script / screenplay, and will be formatted as such when I post it at AO3
I am trying to stick as close to the Bayverse movie canon as possible, while also building on it with elements from (and references to) other incarnations
It takes place three years after OOTS, so (if my math is right) the Turtles are nineteen (so, technically still teenagers, though they have matured a bit)
I am trying to give each Turtle equal billing and their own narrative journey, so Mike and Don will not this time be left by the wayside
Partially inspired by: TMNT 3 (1993), Infinity War, and the Star Trek TOS novel "Home Is The Hunter". So, clearly it involves time travel
It is a bit more serious than the first two movies, and involves a threat specific to the Turtles and their human friends (so fewer global consequences, more personal ones)
April, Casey, Vernon, Karai and Stockman feature in it. Also, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Chief Vincent play a part, and new characters are introduced. Shredder is… not there.
Whereas the first two Bayverse movies sort of leaned heavily into the whole "we aren't a team" thing, by now they are most definitely a cohesive unit, though they still have their disagreements. Also, they are "going through some stuff", so their attitudes have shifted somewhat from the center
I have compiled an in-universe "soundtrack" that includes music from (among others) Jackson Browne, Steve Miller Band, Fleetwood Mac, CCR, Aerosmith, Styx, and Journey. Some of the songs are, yes, Suspiciously Apropos Music
So far the total word count is at around 27,000; but it is still being written, and so will definitely be getting longer before it is post-ready
The research on this thing, you guys… the effort to keep it factual and accurate… it's kicking my butt, but I hope that it pays off in the reading
If it works out and is well received, I may just write another follow-up "screenplay"… because despite the quibbles and stresses I am having getting this one done, it has proven incredibly fun to write!
So, that's that. I am not sure when it will be ready for posting, but I will be announcing it here when I begin doing so. Hopefully it won't be long!

MH: Mermay 2021

The school year, for me at least, is FINALLY coming to an end with very few finals and me coming home the day after my last class. That being said, expect more art in the summer! Anyways, here is my drawing for the famous trending Mermay, Monster High edition.
The seventh, and final of the original 2010 franchise, feature-length film, Great Scarrier Reef was a favorite of mine because it starred my top favorite ghoul, Lagoona. I loved her, as well as Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, and Toralei's, Ghoulfish designs, and the blend of deep blue and hot pink looked creeperific! All that was in the inspiration of this Mermay drawing, and I had to include Lagoona's pet prianha, Neptuna! With all the blue in Lagoona's Ghoulfish design, the pink Neptuna is a nice contrast. ☺️
This is yet another favorite drawing I did of the year, and possibly one of my favorites ever. I am always happy whenever I get to draw something related to Monster High, because it makes me feel nostaglic while letting my creative juices flow. I had SO much fun coloring Lagoona, mostly her hair, makeup and tail. I did look at a reference photo for Neptuna, and I think she's a little bigger than she should, but I'm still very pleased. I did add a little extra detail to Lagoona compared to the original, mainly the hair tie and I gave her pink pearl earrings! This is making me wanna go back and rewatch Great Scarrier Reef now! Too bad that I didn't bring the DVD with me to school. At least I'll be heading home in a little over a week from now. 👀

Fanfiction Review
I can already tell this is gonna be super confusing bc I've been writing fic since I was 12 but have since gone through so many identity changes. But let's play anyway!
Thanks for the tag @redead-red
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
My current library is 8. I don't actually write fanfic too often unless a specific idea intrigues me-- or something in the fanon just doesn't line up with me. I do have at least 4ish more stories planned and maybe a revised version of an ancient story from when I was young. 2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
166,451! Pretty neato!
3. How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Uh, in no specific order,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (lost to purging)
Doctor Who (you ain't gonna find these)
Sonic
NiGHTs into Dreams
Dead by Daylight (<3)
Danny Phantom (my beloathed) Supernatural (my other beloathed)
and uhhhh, I think a bunch of various other video games I can't remember. For the sake of brevity I'm gonna put the rest under the cut.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
This is actually pretty funny bc I have so few fics released. I only get emails for certain ones all the time, so I wrote this part out by guessing, but I ended up not needing to change it. (also, don't read most of these; they're old and bad)
1. Schrodinger's Adolescent, 337 Kudos (Danny Phantom)
2. Teen Years and How to Survive Them, 97 Kudos (Secret Trio)
3. Two Fake Feds Come up the Laneway the other dayyyyyy, 56 Kudos (Letterkenny/Supernatural)
4. Brother's Keeper, 40 Kudos (Halloween, DBD)
5. Beginner's Guide to Destroying the Moon, 37 Kudos (Sonic)
5. Which of your fic do you want more attention for?
I'll be real here, I still enjoy most of the work I did for both Beach House Bummer, and Beginner's Guide to Destroying the Moon. I just wish I got more love for the latter bc I might be inspired to finish it lmao.
6. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I really try to! I love the long rambly comments I get on Schrodinger's because I can feel those people are giving me the same passion I put into my work-- Though most of the time I get the generic "post more" or "update plz" which I dunno I'm grateful for the interaction. Still, I don't really want to repeat like "I'm trying my best, dude." about 12 times a day.
7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I'll be real I only have two completed fics rn-- but I can tell you I had this one fic that I wrote when I was fourteen where the ninja turtles had to burn down a lab full of half-born mutant embryos, and like I remember writing that and then going to middle school the next day like "They don't know I'm a literary genius."
8. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Probably the Letterkenny/Supernatural crossover-- I feel very strongly about SPN and how people take it way too seriously, so when I found out it was filmed in Canada. It used famous Canadian actors from the show Letterkenny, it felt way too good to pass up. I do hope to write in that space again when I'm feeling less depresso-espresso.
9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yeah. It's probably a big reason why you'll never see the tmnt fics for a while. I also used to write a lot of OC stories, and this was back in 2014 so like those were def hit the hardest. I'm glad to say it's like... subsided for the most part. I don't get hate as much as I just get really confusing and creepy comments, which don't hurt my rejection-sensitive-ass as much.
10. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Hahahaha, no.
I am kind of bad at writing it, and I don't really like writing it. Which yeah that makes sense. My friends sometimes when they find out I write fanfic as a joke they'll send me some of the worst examples smut they can find and to test my talent I'll try to rewrite it to make it some kind of titillating-- but alas it just isn't my forte. The cons of being an asexual I guess.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Uh, yes and no? I think I had one of my older fics stolen, retranslated, and then retranslated again to English? That was so long ago tho.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I'd love to give it a shot sometime.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Honestly, it's sonadow. I know it's cringe but I'm free, dammit. Outside of that I guess my favorite dynamic is jock/nerd, which you've probably gleaned from my resume here fhsdkjf.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I've been working on Teen Years and How to Survive them since I was 16, I only started making headway on it when I was 19-- so I feel like that speaks for itself hskjhg.
15. What are your writing strengths?
It's been told to me that I'm very funny and I write convincing dialog that captures a character's voice. Which is extremely flattering despite the fact that I feel like I'm tricking you all.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
probably scenery and landscape, if I'm honest. I also accidentally keep creating scenes just for the dialog instead of action or environment.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I think as long as I can guess what they're saying from context clues, and the writer is courteous enough to include body language and the like, then it's mostly harmless. I love including a bunch of references in fic whether it's cultural, historical, or just like a quote from a movie or something so I have a bunch of tabs open regardless it wouldn't be too inconvenient for me to fire up google translate or something.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Probably Schrodinger's Adolescent, it really opened up a lot of doors for me in the DP fandom and I got to meet a lot of cool people because of it. It really cheered me up from a dark place. And despite me writing it initially out of anger and spite its grown into this soft thing that really means a lot to me.
20. What fic are you most proud of?
Honestly, I can't pick. I'm both embarrassed by them all and yet glad they bring people some form of comfort.
Uhhhh who to tag-- I don't really know
@ten0rreaper is the only one I can think of-- whoever else I guess can have at it. I'm not very good at these things lmao.

TMNT x reader: One more dance
Author's note: I've had this idea for some time now, trying to write it for a while and I finally got it done! Thinking of making this some sort of a one shot series, we shall see how it goes. Hope you like my first writing of 2020! 💙❤️💜🧡
Disclaimer: I do not own TMNT and I do not own you, just my wild imagination.
Warnings: Sort of fluff, with a little tear drop mixed in. Kinda cute. :3 Not proofread!
YN = your name
TN = turtle name
-
"You look absolutely beautiful, April!" you admired the bride-to-be, your good friend April O'Neil. She stood before the tall mirror in her white wedding dress, hair and makeup done.
She blushed and smiled as she couldn't stop looking in the mirror. "I'm getting married today." she giggled and all her excitement seemed to glow out of her. Then she turned around, walked over to you and sat down next to you on the couch.
"YN, thank you so much for everything. Being my best friend, being by my side and always supporting me." April took your hand in hers. "And thank you for being my maid of honor."
"Of course, it's an honor to be at my best friend's wedding, and be her maid of honor." you remembered the day when April had announced the engagement to you almost one year ago. That day she also asked if you would like to be her maid of honor. "And just like you said, you are like a sister to me."
"You're gonna make me cry, YN." she gushed and her eyes glistening. She was filled with so much emotions as well as happiness.
"No, don't cry, darling." you reassured her as you embraced her in a hug. "Don't ruin your beautiful makeup because of me." you both laughed as you pulled away from the hug.
The room fell silent for a moment. A comforting silence. "Have you seen him yet?" April questioned after a few seconds of silence.
You knew who she was referring to. Him. TN, your ex boyfriend. It ended over one year ago. "No, I haven't seen him yet." you sighed.
"Are you sure you will be okay?" April asked once again. The question she have asked you several times, making sure you in fact are alright about seeing him and attending the same events as him. She knows your history with him, but as both you and him is family to her, she couldn't leave one of you out of such an important day of her life.
You knew he would be there and you had thought about this for a long time, trying to mentally prepare yourself for meeting him again. "I'm fine, April." you reassured her with a sweet smile, as she sent you a look as if asking again. "I promise, I really am fine. I'll be alright."
April offered a soft smile and a hug. "You mean a lot to me, and I want you to feel comfortable too." she whispered softly.
There were light knocking on the door, catching both of your interest. Rebecca Vincent carefully peaked through the lightly opened door.
"Oh my, how beautiful!" the chief of police entered with a smile, closing the door behind her. "Are you ladies ready?"
"Is it time to get in position?" April asked glowing of happiness.
"Yes, it's almost go time. I believe all guests has arrived, Casey is ready and so is the turtles." Rebecca explained.
The turtles. TN.
You have still yet to meet them.
-
"Guys, I would like to make a toast." Casey cleared his throat, as he poured some Whiskey in the glasses for him and his best men, the turtles. “Today is a big day for April and I.”
The wedding is located to be in the guarden of April’s old family farmhouse right outside New York City, a place that offers them and their guests all the privacy that they would like.
“Yeah, today is the day you’ll grow into a real man.” Vern teased as he walked up to the group, standing in the bar inside the farmhouse, making the turtles snicker and smirk by the teasing comment.
Casey shook his head, but his smile still big as ever. “Very funny, Vern.” he chuckled lightly, pouring another drink for his friend. “Here, let’s make a toast together.”
“Better make it quick, it’s about to start.” Vern said as he accepted the drink.
The guys all raised their glasses, Leo of course taking the lead in the toast. “To April and Casey.”
“To April and Casey!” The rest of the guys cheered as they drank the strong liquid, giving them a burning hot feeling down their throat.
After the toast, the group of men started to walk out of the farmhouse to the garden to their position. The guests, that included their family, friends and a lot of people from the NYPD that were close to them, had found their seats, chatting a little bit together as they waited for the big moment to start.
TN walked next to Vern, stopping him right before getting in his position. “Is she here today?” he asked quietly, referring to you. He already knew you would be here, but he just had to confirm it to be sure.
“Yes, she’s with April right now.” he nodded, also knowing the history between the two of you. “Are you gonna talk to her?”
“If she wants to...” TN whispered sadly, hoping to have the chance to talk to you, to explain himself and more importantly, to apologize.
Vern nodded, but before any of them could continue with the conversation the music started playing and they had to get in their rightful place quick as the wedding was about to start.
As you start to walk down the isle, you see him and he see you. Your eyes lock and it’s the most hypnotizing thing, like it’s just you and him against the world. All the good memories flowing through your mind, as if you fell in love all over again. You walk to the opposite side of the groom and his best men as April starts walking down the isle.
-
The wedding ceremony went perfectly well, the dinner smoothly and now the party was getting lit. Music playing and people dancing, talking and laughing together. April and Casey really had planned one amazing wedding. You had mingled along the group of guests, talking and dancing. Now you sat down by the bar, with a drink in your hand, just enjoying every moment of the party.
“YN?” a voice you knew all too well. The smooth and husky voice that belongs to him.
You turned around to see TN standing there. A lot of feelings and emotions pumping in your mind and heart right now, not sure exactly how to react.
“Hi.” you smile softly as your eyes lock.
He rubbed the back of his head, trying so hard to find just the right words to say. “I was wondering if we could ta-” he was cut off.
“Ey, TN! Get over here!” Casey shouted from the photobooth. “You can talk to your lover later.” he teased with a smirk.
TN let out a sigh. “I’ll see you around.”
You nodded, trying to process what just happen, taking another sip of your fruity drink, probably needing another strong drink to be able to process this scenario.
-
It’s several hours into the party and it’s starting to get late. Some people has left and some still wanting to hang around. You had decided to go out to get some fresh air. You had walked down to the river, standing on the bridge that crosses it. The soft breeze brushing over your skin, it was dark so the stars and the moon shined brightly. The sound of the river always had a calming effect on you.
“You know the party is inside, right?” the voice you knew so well asked teasingly. The voice that belonged to him, the bara that once held your heart.
His voice still had that very same effect on you as it used to, sending shivers down your spine and feeling his presence this close again made your heart go wild. Your lips turning into a soft smile, humming in response to his question.
As he stood by your side, you turned to face him. He held out a single rose to you, in the color of his bandana. "It's beautiful. Thank you." you smiled, taking it close to your nose so you could smell the scent.
"You're beautiful." he complimented as he watched you curiously with the rose in your hand, trying his best to not mess up this moment and find the right words to say. "I've missed you."
He studied you closely, nervously waiting for your reaction and response. A lot of thoughts went through your mind in this moment with him.
"If it worked for April and Casey, why couldn't it work for us?" your eyes slowly drifted from the rose and up to the big bara, locking with his eyes.
He let out a sigh, thinking of the time when Shredder and the Footclan attacked the city again, that time was much worse than their previous attacks. "Because the Footclan was starting to target the people that meant the most to us and before they got the chance to find out about you, I.. I..." he closed his eyes, feeling the pain he did when letting you go. "I just wanted to protect you, to keep you safe, I couldn't stand losing you."
You put a hand on his arm to reassure him, as he slowly looked back in your eyes. His eyes was watery and so was yours.
"I never meant to hurt you, I just couldn't risk your life for my own selfish needs and wishes." he explained as you two got closer. "I know I have no right to ask for another chance..."
"TN..." you whispered his name faintly, your hand resting on his cheek, then you pulled him in for a kiss.
It's a kiss of so much longing for each other. He didn't hesitate to kiss back, his lips moving in sync with your lips, his arms goes around your waist to hold you closer to him. Your mind was spinning and so was his, so many emotions and feelings, all pouring out in this moment, showing just how much you've missed each other.
Slowly you both pull away, already longing for more, you're both breathing heavy.
"I love you." you stated, your hands resting on his neck. "I love you, TN."
"I never stopped loving you." he smiled, kissing your temple, embracing his arms around you, hugging you close to him. He feared if he'd let go, you would be gone. "Oh shell, YN, I love you!" he planted many soft kisses on you.
After a long moment, you both let go from the hug, holding each others hands. The music was still playing at the party and could be heard ever so softly down to the river.
"YN? I... Would you like one more dance with me?" the big bara asked you, making your lips form into a big sweet smile.
"I'm all yours."

Rise of the TMNT
SPOILERS
Rise is “on pause” and, while a movie is coming out, I doubt it will be picked back up. However, it’s the most recent TMNT and still rerunning on nicktoons and nickelodeon. It’s available for purchase in the US on amazon and in the apple store.
Four turtle brothers and their rat dad enjoy their lives while they try to 1) learn ninjitsu from old martial arts movies and 2) save the city of new york (and the world) from mutation and/or death.
Rise changes quite a few constants in TMNT- Raph is the leader. Splinter has depression over being a rat-man. The focus is more on who the turtles are rather than what they do, and it’s a comedy first and foremost. If you haven’t given it a shot, do so!
Most of the characterization of the turtles comes from what they do and say, rather than what people say about them. They have two potential communities they can join- secretly, they can taste a little bit of human New York, but OPENLY they can join the hidden city. They aren’t isolated any longer, and that lets them open up as people and characters.
My secret hope is that they get more seasons to flesh out the finale- Erase the last 4 episodes or treat them as a multi-season preview- make the 3 season arcs that nick forced them to wrap up in 4 episodes.
Rating 11/10 this one is my favorite. It’s energetic, the references to well loved anime and western cartoons are excellent, and it’s major changes from previous cannon are bold and daring.
Who are they? April: A human teenager! April’s a character as much as the turtles are- she’s best described as their sister, as this time she’s a teen, too (and because she will not hesitate to fight her brothers, or for them). She’s clever, fun, alienated at school, and always getting fired from jobs. She’s doing things outside of shenanigans with the boys. Has as crane operator’s license. Involve and instrumental in every major fight in the series. Involved in every major group hug as well. She’s very cool, but in the way your peers grow to love as you get older- She’s an April who exists outside of her relationships to the turtles and Splinter. Other Aprils tag along or support missions. Rise!April is as likely to include them in what she’s doing, too. The chaotic friend- would stop you from doing something stupid if she wasn’t too busy charging in herself. Donatello: A soft-shelled pancake turtle! Tries to help with science without regard for the consequences. Definite middle child, in that he acts out for attention but also wants to be left alone. Leo’s twin??? A scoundrel in the way that I remember being as the ‘smart kid.’ Believes he knows better than anyone else, and more likely to feign ignorance over problems he’s caused rather than apologize. Self described as an ‘emotionally distant bad boy’ but cries with joy at the slightest hint of parental approval. Smart in the way an engineer is smart, and prone to believing conspiracy theories. Probably dismantled the TV and didn’t even attempt to put it back together as a child. Leonardo: A red-eared slider! Knows how to get under everyone’s skin. Definite middle child in that he fights for attention with jokes and actively seeks to be the center of attention inside and outside the home. Donnie’s twin??? Self described ‘face man.’ Big into himself with little regard for his family members. Always on the look out for another father figure. Bad jokes, awful one liners, looks for positive attention through comedy and cheating. Very good at coming up with or seeing through plans, unless he doesn’t want to. He’s no longer in charge, and that frees him to focus on his love of old scifi movies and annoying the local populace for fun. Loves stage magic. Loves to rag on his brothers for things they like. Probably the kind of friend you need when most of your friend group is indecisive- he’s happy to make all the plans but you’ll probably have to pay. Michelangelo: A box turtle! He’s the littlest brother, and the only one who can retreat into his shell. VERY touchy-feely. Mikey loves his brothers, and is a constant source of positivity. He’s prone to selfishness when he’s pursuing his own goals, but he’s so positive and excited about what he’s doing that you won’t notice until later. He’s afraid of ghosts and loves cooking. The fact that he doesn’t know a feat is impossible is the reason he can pull it off every time. Not good at being firm or mean with other people, until he’s past his limit. Then. it’s time for Dr. Delicate touch. Probably the kid who hid on the stairs to listen to the X-files after bedtime but the whistling made him too scared and he had nightmares about it. Raphael: A snapping turtle. BIG. Largest brother so that he can hug everyone at once. Decided that being the largest brother made him the big brother, and so is in charge. Raph is very interested in justice and the correct way of doing things. He’s very aware of how his brothers are vs how they want to be perceived. He’s bad at plans, but good at action. Gets weird when he’s by himself. Does poorly under pressure, but learns to do better as time goes on. His plans mostly consist of ask questions, be helpful, and SMASH! Being the one in charge frees him from being angry at the decisions of others- but opens him up to the stress of leadership. He’s the friend who you call when you’re in trouble. He’ll freak out about it, but he’ll help you out every time. His brothers will literally eat poison just to get on his nerves. Splinter: A human man who was turned into a rat by warrior alchemist Baron Draxum. He’s raised his sons on a steady diet of movies he starred in since he rescued them. Much, MUCH more of a lazy dad than a sensei, he gradually learns that he has to be more involved as a father, that he has worth even as a rat man, and that his sons need to learn about the history and culture he came from. As a man, Splinter was named Yoshi Hamato (first/last). As an actor, he was Lou Jitsu. And Lou Jitsu is best described as this photo of Jackie Chan:

(A photo of Jackie Chan from his younger years. He is wearing a backless white cable knit turtle neck sweater, but the sweater has no sleeves which barely covers his chest. You can see his obliques. Dude is ripped.)
Shredder: A FERAL ANIMAL WHO KNOWS NO REASON OR RESTRAINT. Not the main villain of the series- he shows up at the end of season one and retreats into the shadows after the boys nearly die fighting him. Other cast members: Rise has a plethora of new and different mutants to fight. No bebop and rocksteady, but... Todd: Todd’s a capybara mutant who was once a man. He runs a puppy sanctuary and is the one non-parent everyone trusts their kids with. I love Todd. Makes a mean lemonade.
Did I make it ALL the way through? YES! And I will again when the movie comes out.
Are they ninjas? Not at first! They have to learn and grow into ninjitsu and the traditional martial arts of their family. And they do! And the fight scenes are dynamic and gorgeous.
Are they a family? YUP! From the gate they are a family. They know and love each other like siblings do- they have enough room
Do I like them?
Who’s my favorite?
Do they murder?
Is there magic?
How old do they seem vs. cannon ages (if any)
Are they going to ever talk to each other again after the end of the series?
If I was rescued by them in a dark alley would I be grateful or horrified?
What’s left unresolved?

Each TMNT Incarnation and Where They Stand With Me :)
(Nervous chuckle) ... Yeah no, I suck at titles. Moving on!
Y’all can go ahead and skip this part if you’re not interested in senseless rambling and just wanna get to the TMNT fun~ ;)
Soooooo, I’ve recently updated my Tumblr page to a blog dedicated to all my fandoms (musing, headcanons, writing, gifs, pics, the works, basically anything and everything in relation to them) since I wasn’t really ever doing anything with it other than using it to share pics mostly. But ever since I stumbled back into the TMNT fandom, I’ve been searching Tumblr for fan content and OMGOSH, did I hit the jackpot! Headcanons, fanfics, Turtle x reader stories, so much juicy stuff! Am hooked! Dunno why I never tried searching for similar stuff in the past for my other fandoms! I guess I just... didn’t realize there was so much content here. :O But anyway, I always wanted a place to share ideas and thoughts regarding my fandoms outside of sites like Deviantart and Fanfiction.net, and heck, it’s been here under my nose all this time... Y’all gonna have to forgive me; I’m an old fart. ;P (Insert image of Slowpoke for reference) So without further ado...
LET’S GET THIS PIZZA PARTY STARTED!
Imma start this blog off really simple and, as the title states, just give you all a small-ish idea of where each TMNT universe stands (or ranks?) with me, personally... Note the ‘personally’ part so please don’t feel offended if I don’t share the same opinion as you on a particular verse. ^^; I have my own tastes and will respect the next person’s when it comes to them. ;) Also, please beware the typos (which there most definitely will be)...
IN RELEASE DATE ORDER: (Hopefully they’re right)
MIRAGE COMICS~

Imma just say it: I haven’t read any of them yet. :/ There probably are sites out there that would allow you to view them online for free, but in truth, I’ve been a little slack about trying to find any... That may however change someday as I always tell myself I should really seek out the source material so it’s only a matter of time. What I do know, however, is that they’re of course a lot darker than most incarnations (which I don’t have a problem with personally) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious as to exactly how much darker. X’D The closest I’ve come to ‘knowing’ these Turts comes from watching the Turtles Forever movie and they weren’t in it for a long time so it’s very difficult to say what they actually mean to me, so we’ll just put these guys down in the ‘not sure’ column for now. ;)
1987 CARTOON~

HAHA~ I think any fan of the franchise as a whole knows this little gem! The series that really hit it off and spawned over a 190 eps! Quite an impressive feat for a Saturday morning cartoon! It made its way to TVs the year before I was born, but it would take another few before it would reach our tubes (we’re always a few years behind the rest of the world :/ ) so I was around four when I was first introduced to it and needless to say, I loved it back then! Michelangelo was initially my fav due to him being my older brothers’ fav and the one they mainly spoke of, but it didn’t take long before my favering gravitated towards Leonardo (even at such a young age) and has been that way ever since. ;) But where exactly does the series stand with me as an adult nowadays with so many other verses we’ve been exposed to? I do hold a lot of nostalgia (as many older do) for it, and I mean, come on, that theme song is ageless, and I even started watching a lot of vids involving the original VAs and the shenanigans they get up to and seriously, it’s so heartwarming and fun to see them! But I have to be honest...
It’s not my fav verse, honestly. I will always adore them, of course, because of the nostalgia and the goofiness... But it’s the latter that’s mostly the reason for it being placed a bit lower on the favoritism ladder. While its a fun watch if you want something lighthearted, I still prefer the idea of the darker undertones that comes with being associated with ninjas. It’s just a preference. Plus, the Turtles designs are big one for me, and I’m sorry to say, but I keep seeing these fellas as more frog-like than turtle, despite the shells. X’D So yeah, no big reasoning for it, and even if someone were to ask me if I like these guys, I’ll still say yes, just that they’re not my ultimate fav is all. ;)
Also, we won’t talk about the Japanese Anime Ninja Turtles: Superman Legend or something to that extent... We’ll just let that one be gently swept under the carpet. ;) Only ever saw the trailer for it and that’s all I’ll ever need to see in my lifetime.
1990 MOVIES TRILOGY~

Now funny enough, I really don’t remember ever seeing these movies as a kid, though it’s possible I did and just maybe blocked the memory, but I highly doubt it... So yeah, I saw these movies as an adult already. The first is praised by most fans, and honestly, I can see why: it’s pretty good! :D The acting is very decent and the humour’s brilliant! The two sequels... not so much but still okay. ;) Where they sit with me... Not too far on the ladder again I’m afraid. :/ While I do really enjoy and appreciate the acting and that humour (”I made a funny.” X’D) it mostly comes down to the Turtles designs again... I really can’t see past them being actors in costumes rather than characters. :’( Granted, good actors. ;) And heck, Jim Henson did a phenomenal job! They’re just not really the movies for me is all, even if I do go back and watch ‘em every now and then. X’D I do however melt every time at the scene in the first movie where Raph wakes up in the bath and Leo’s there and apologizing and all... Makes me all gooey inside! X’D The feels are real! Speaking of Leo, though, he sounds even younger than Mikey. Small nitpick, that, but... why? X’D
But yeah, let’s just say, they’re good movies, just, not my favs.
Also, Coming Out Of Their Shells tour... Yeah, I’m gonna just... pretend that doesn’t exist for a minute.
THE NEXT MUTATION~

Nope.
Saw one ep as a kid and am not interested in seeing anymore.
Although, VA Matt Hill voices Raph. That’s one good thing.
2003/2k3~

Well it wasn’t already apparent by my avatar... Ladies and gents, I present to you... My fav TMNT verse to date! Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this delicious series?! :D Firstly, animation: so appealing, comic book-y style! Their designs: without sounding pervy, veeeeeeeery appealing (hehehehehe), no seriously, they sometimes have a bitta bulk to them but it honestly works, and dem muscles, and the cool eyes! The VAs: spot on! Perfect! Wouldn’t have ‘em any other way! Make me melt, Mr. Michael Sinterniklaas~ (cough) Their personalities: Omgosh, just yes! So perfect! They’re easily differentiated and yet still work together so well. Leo’s mature and level-headed (well, most of the time ;P ) yet still gets tested a lot and even has a fun side that’s shown on occasion. Raph’s grouchy and violent but is shown on more than one occasion that’s he’s total softie and really does care. Don’s just a sweetheart and freakishly smart and even has slips ups from time to time. Mikey... omgosh, best Mikey ever! So much fun! So hilarious! And just a bundle of energy, but not at all an idiot like he’s sometimes portrayed in other verses. He’s witty, mischievous and just so adorable! Heck, even Master Splinter, April, Casey, the lot of them are just awesome in this series! And wow, they really do lean more towards the source material (or so I’m told) when it comes to the plots! It’s darker than the other previous verses yet still remaining kid-friendly (although I question it at times XD) and omgosh, it’s just everything I want in a TMNT universe! Granted, it’s not perfect perfect, but it nailed it for me. ;) It really showed so lovely character developments, alsortsa different genres, the humour will leave you in stitches, the Turts are all just so lovable, I can’t get enough of them! This series was really my high point and I’ve yet to find one that tops it~
Btw, this even includes Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer (BTTS). The former being my least fav of the series simply due to the setting and again, it’s just preference. I even liked BTTS, even though I’m not overly fond of a cyberspace setting, but I found myself really liking the art style and the general plot. :D
2007/2k7~

As with the last, if you’ve picked up on the page’s header/banner, you’d have probably guessed that the 2007 movie is also a good candidate for one my favs... And you’d be correct. ;) I’m actually very fond of this movie, and it’s largely due to the Turtles designs. I love how they were done! They just look so cool! <3 Subtle differences tell the viewer who’s who even if they didn’t have a mask or weapons. The VAs were also pretty good~ Now, the story isn’t the greatest, I’ll admit. Personally I thought it was okay, but know many fans think otherwise. But I did like the confrontation between Leo and Raph! It got real there, peeps! :O Now here’s also where it falls a little on its face for me: I didn’t really like how they handled Leo’s personality (if you haven’t already picked up on it, yes, I’m a Leo fangirl and I’m picky when it comes to how they handle his personality) but it’s a nitpick again, yet, I still feel compelled to state my opinion: the whole “I’m better than you.” comment really took me back and made me think they pushed it. I honestly like to believe he’d never actually say something like that... at least, 2003!Leo wouldn’t. X’D But that’s just my problem: I’m comparing a different verse’s Leo to this one and whether I like it or not, he said it. :/ Oh well, it still made for some fun action scenes and I’ll still always like the movie.
Bit of a goof on my side: I honestly thought that this movie was made to tie in with the 2003!verse due to the timeline in which it was produced, but turns out, it’s actually closer to the 1990′s timeline although still considered it’s own verse.
2012/2k12~

Oooh boy, lemme prepare for the backlash real quick... I’m uhhhh... not a fan of these boys. :/ I don’t mind them, but I’m honestly never gonna watch the series again. It’s hard to top your fav when you’ve kinda already hit your high point, ya know. Now before you light your torches and sharpen your pitchforks, hear me out: I will never bash the series, or make fun of anyone who likes it! Or anything to that extent! It’s just wasn’t for me, plain and simple, and it’s got nothing to do with it being ‘new’ or I’m just an old fart stuck in my ways. Heck, If you’re still reading, you would’ve found out that even nostalgia couldn’t beat the series that grasped me in my teens! So no, it has nothing to do with age. But if you do need a reason: I wasn’t overly fond of how they handle the characters. For one, they look and act a bit too young, Mikey is just... wow, something else. Donnie’s... sheesh, pretty snappy and antagonising. Raph’s well... okay, he’s meant to be angry half the time, and they did give him some more layers with Spike and Mona Lisa and whatnot, but he still kinda never learns his lesson if I can say that? He’ll learn that he shouldn’t cause issues with others, yet next episode he’s back at it again. :/ Leo’s... wow, just not like other Leos. X’D Best way I can describe him is... young? Very childlike. And even when he was progressing to becoming this better leader, I honestly couldn’t even see the change. My mind was just stuck on this “He’s a babeh.” notion. Also, I’m not even gonna start on this April and Casey. Just. No. Most of the characters were annoying and I just kept seeing recycled plot after plot. What I did like was the romance that blossomed between Raph and Mona (albeit far too rushed) and even Donnie liking April was adorable (but seriously Donnie, you can do so much better), and there were some really heartfelt moments, like Splinter telling Leo to leo his brothers with his heart and not his head, and the scenes when they were Tots will always make me squeal... But yeah... without leaving any spoilers.... about Splinter... just... thanks, Nickelodeon. Y’all know what I mean. Not once... But twice.... Really? So yeah, look, I realized some of those reasons might even be petty, but again, it’s just not the series for me, but anyone who’s a fan... You keep being a fan! ;) I’m glad you can enjoy something I can’t. ;)
2014/2k14/2016/2k16 AKA BAYVERSE~

HAHA~ Every fan’s favorite... If only. X’D Jokes aside, despite many fans claiming the Bay movies ruined the franchise, these two films gathered a small following... And I’m apart of it. :) Funny enough, I honestly didn’t know what to think of them when the movie first came out. I think I was just taken aback by the sheer amount of detail and all that went into their designs. I didn’t not like them, but again, their designs were a lot to take in. :O Even now after seeing the movies quite a few times over, I find myself constantly discovering something I didn’t notice on them before, be it a strap or a scar etc. And it honestly took some getting use to their sizes, I mean, sheesh! :O Not to mention the different background story, and Megan Fox’s wooden, expressionless acting, but despite all that... I found myself actually growing attached to these hulks of Turtles. They still have a lot of that heart in them and plus they’re just so much fun, I mean, can we say ‘Elevator scene’? X’D Now again, not perfect by anys mean, but still fun and pretty decent incarnations to add to the franchise. Again, Leo’s been given this ‘Better than you’ a bit which irked me to be frank. Not always but it’s there sometimes, but otherwise alright. Raph’s a decent Raph. Even had some tender moments. Donnie’s adorable! X’D This slightly potty mouthed geek that you just gotta love. And Mikey... although given that bitta ‘idiot’ feel, is also just as lovable and you want to hug him every time he’s onscreen!
In short, I like ‘em. :) They’re actually closer to the top of the ladder than some others.
RISE OF THE TMNT/ROTTMNT/2018/2K18~

Yeeeeeeeeuuuuuuh... no. Sorry. Not for me. :/ Again, gonna remind y’all, nothing to do with age. Nothing to do with change. I will say that the fluid animation is nice, and the fact that they chose 2D animation. :) Buuuuuut, wow, they were certainly a lot to take in. Almost as much as Bay’s Turtles. After watching a few eps, I will conclude that they really just aren’t what I’m looking for. I found that the constant joking, while sometimes funny, got a little bit much, plus such short eps. Raph being leader was a switch and one that took awhile to get use to and honestly, I’m just not for it, I don’t even know where to begin with Donnie, Mikey’s okay, Leo... (deep breath) I don’t know what they were thinking... Let’s not even go to Master Splinter. But anyways, I get that change was what they were going for and that it was more so based on the 1987 toon with the silliness so that’s fine. I’m glad it’s got so many fans. :) And honestly, I wanna end off just by saying...
That no matter what your thoughts on what I’ve said, I hope you can respect my opinions and choices cause at the end of the day, they’re just my own, and I will always respect yours! :D If you adore the verses I’m not too crazy about, that’s great! :D I want you all to love the heck out of them! And honestly, this is what’s so great about this franchise: there are so many verses to choose from! So many options and tastes to suit any and all! You don’t have to follow the masses! You go enjoy whichever incarnation(s) you want to! ;)
And there we have it, my first fandom bloggy thingy~ Hope there’ll be many more where that came from! :D
This is Drag0n-Mistr3ss signing off~

My Talk: TMNT 2012
Today, 6 years ago, a new TMNT series came into our lives again. Grab a slice of pizza and take a walk down memory lane in a TMNT 2012 reflection. Booyakasha!
During this time, I had finished watching all TMNT series (not including the live action one) and movies. There was one more series that I had to watch.
I admit, I was one of those people when I saw TMNT 2012. Yes, I complain that there was another TMNT reboot. I trashed and bashed it and stated this reboot is going to bomb hard. Understand this. I didn’t hear anything about TMNT 2012 till the year 2015. During that time, I saw bad reboots and Nickelodeon’s “great” cartoons. Seeing that this is a reboot on Nick, this was a recipe for disaster. People were saying that this reboot is better than Teen Titans Go, so I knew this version of TMNT wasn’t going to be horrible. What made me begin to watch the show was the cast of the Turtles and my Turtle nostalgia. I’ll get to that later, but I start to watch the CGI 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
January 11, 2016. I tried not to get attract to the show. I was excited to see these new Turtles, yet I had my doubts. After watching The Rise of the Turtles Part 1 and 2, I was instantly hook on these turtles. I hated myself for being against the reboot. These episodes were brilliant, and my Ninja Turtles love grow three sizes that day.
Flaws. Not every show is perfect, but there were some things that I didn’t enjoy in TMNT 2012. I didn’t like that some of the characters didn’t get their moment to shine at times. Some episodes were a waste of time, and could have been used to answer things TMNT hasn’t address. I also hate how the shippers would go full crazy when they see littlest of things when the ship does something. It got pretty annoying. My leader in blue would fall to the cliché of self sacrifice and going on crazy one man missions. I hated how Nickelodeon kept making random scheduling changes in season 5. This was a bad move in Nickelodeon, because fans missed something because of those random schedule changes and it was a marketing plan for PlayMates to sell those damn toys. Half of the season was pointless and the other half was awesome. Those flaws didn’t stop me from enjoying the series.
Characters. I don’t need to mention characters, but I’ll repeat myself again. Each TMNT series has the basic set of characters. There’s the Turtles, April, Casey, Splinter, Shredder, etc. Some characters are brought back from past TMNT series like Karai, Rocksteady, Bebop, Bishop, etc. In this series, there are some new characters like Tiger Claw, Fishface, Shinigami, and more. I love how the 2012 series have the Turtles be more like teenagers from other TMNT series. Some of the characters I find to be the best in this show.
Animation. 2012 TMNT uses CGI and a bit of 2D animation when it comes to flashbacks and storytelling. It’s weird at first. After awhile, it’s interesting to see. The CGI is incredible when the characters show emotions and action sequences. I’m impressed with the crew and their talents.
Voice cast. Oh yeah, my favorite part of this show. I said the voice cast is what made me decide to watch the show, and here’s why. The voice cast is outstanding and their voice director is Andrea Romano. This woman was a voice director for Batman: TAS, Teen Titans, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Voltron: Legendary Defender, etc. She’s a legend! Jason Biggs voiced Leo till season 2 episode 19, then Dominic Catrambone voiced Leo till the finale. Seth Green voiced Leonardo from season 3 till the end. Rob Paulsen, Sean Astin, and Greg Cipes voiced Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. Hoon Lee voiced Splinter. Kevin Michael Richardson voiced Shredder. Mae Whitman and Josh Peck voiced April and Casey. Kelly Hu and Gwendoline Yeo voiced Karai and Shinigami. There’s a ton of great voice actors including Eric Bauza, Nolan North, Clancy Brown, Phil LaMarr, Fred Tatasciore, J.B Smoove, David Tennant, Keith David, Corey Feldman, Tom Kenny, Roger Smith Craig, Charlie Murphy, Ashely Johnson, Minae Noji, Mark Hamill, Zelda Williams, and the list goes on and on. I adore the voice cast so much. All of them did a spectacular job.
How is it different from other TMNT series. The CGI is what tells them apart. Hamato Yoshi once lived in Japan with his wife and daughter. Tragedy stuck, and Yoshi goes to New York. One day, he gets four baby turtles. He bumped into someone, following him. Yoshi witness the men meeting, and decided to attack him. Yoshi defeats them, but a canister of mutagen splashes on Yoshi and the Turtles. Yoshi become a rat, and the turtles grew into little turtle tots. April, Casey, and Karai are teenagers in this reboot. The Kraang are a species of talking brain like creatures. Some references from the 1987 and 2003 series show up in this show from characters to arcs. It manages to be silly and dark at times, it’s a nice blend.
Ciro Nieli, Joshua Sternin, and J. R. Ventimilia. These wonderful people helped developed this remake. I thank them for being the right people to be in charge of this project. With great people running a reboot, it leads to the following.
TMNT 2012 is a great remake and best example of doing a reboot right. People can argue all they want about this version of TMNT, but you have to admit this…there was a lot effort put into this show. This show proves to that not all reboots are terrible. This series didn’t dumb down for kids. It manages to be a show for all ages to enjoy. Animation isn’t lazy, same for voice acting and writing. Ok, the writing had dip down at times, but most of the time it’s good. There is some heavy stuff in the show like violence, death, and more death. I enjoy how this show broke some boundaries at times, that makes the show more interesting and groundbreaking.
I’m always impressed about how this series turned out. It has a unique spin in animation, wonderful voice cast, and a perfect example of a good reboot. It really makes me happy that this series will be a part of TMNT universe. I praise the 2012 Turtles for making a few changes and still holds. It’s still the Turtles we all know and love. I still miss TMNT 2012. What I will remember about this version of Turtles is the character growth that the Turtles have. I saw Leonardo from being a nervous leader who doesn’t want to let his team down. He would make decisions and be the best leader ever. Donatello would have fail at times from his creations or inventions. He improves to himself and it helps others. Raphael is still our hothead turtle, but he learns not to his anger consumes him. Michelangelo was seen as a dumb turtle who cared about pizza and made jokes. In the end, he shows the bad guys what’s he made of and he’s not a turtle you don’t want to mess with. These turtles has wowed me and they are the best ninjas in the city of New York.
