Year 1543 Part 4:
Shortly after Agnes moved out following her wedding, Andrew returned home though he wished he had waited a while because then he wouldn’t have accidentally caught a glimpse of movement in the bushes that left little wonder when his brother and sister-in-law snuck out sheepishly when they realized they had been spotted.
Aside from the awkward reunion, the two oldest brothers were overjoyed to see one another. Andrew said he would have spent more time in Windenburg but the house was getting crowded what with Francis marrying and having his own family in the home. Anthony understood since the house was uncomfortably full as usual.
Thomas was glad to see his son returned but he knew that if he waited the young man would run off from town leaving his responsibilities behind so he arranged for his wedding to Dorothy immediately. Andrew had hardly the time to settle in back home when he married his wife. Though the festivities were dampened for Wren since she felt ill a lot recently.
Dorothy could tell her new husband didn’t necessarily want marriage but their families made it hard to argue against when they got them a house in town for them live in with their meager savings.

The Matrix Star Hugo Weaving criticizes silence over Palestine.
The acclaimed Actor believes Australians are being “cowed into not speaking out” about Israel’s invasion of Gaza. “I think the problem in our country is we’re all cowed into not speaking out. And that’s the problem I have. And I thought that was true of the STC. I think it’s true up to the highest echelons of power in our country and in the US.
His remarks follow actors demonstrating solidarity with Palestine during the finale of The Seagull, an Andrew Upton adaptation of an Anton Chekhov play in Sydney. Harry Greenwood (Hugo Weaving’s son), Megan Wilding, and Mabel Li wore Palestinian keffiyehs during three curtain calls. Sydney Theatre Company has apologized for its delayed response to the actors’ expression of solidarity with Palestine, an apology criticized by Hugo.

Okay, so I have more for the bookshelf asks! The House of Bernarda Alba; Anne Carson’s An Oresteia; Hedda Gabler; Carmilla; Tanith Lee’s Wolf Tower
I don't own The House of Bernarda Alba, which is a significant omission on my part. I also do not own Anne Carson's An Oresteia because I sort of despise it.
...I just counted and I own six copies of Hedda Gabler. Three copies of the Fjelde translation (one is a friend's that she left with me for safe-keeping, in my own defense), one of the Le Gallienne, one unknown edition from 1941 with no translator credited, and one copy of the Andrew Upton adaptation. All except for the Upton are in collections with other Ibsen plays. They're shelved next to each other, in between Peer Gynt and The Emperor and the Galilean.
I have only (? by comparison) two copies of Carmilla; one included in The Penguin Book of Vampire Stories, shelved in between Blood 20, a collection of all Tanith Lee's vampire-related short stories, and The Mammoth Book of Dracula, which is also a collection of short stories and is hilarious. I also have Carmen Maria Machado's edited/adapted Carmilla, shelved in between Her Body and Other Parties and Gayle Brandeis' Many Restless Concerns, which I had difficulty deciding where to shelve.
I have all the Wolf Tower books! They're shelved in between Red Unicorn and The Secret Books of Paradys.

Do you have post-Emmy predictions or thoughts for Snook's career?
Oooo, I'm actually not too sure? She's such an incredible actress, and I'd really love her to hit the A-list, but her choices even since Succession started and her star rose have been kind of odd ones? Like Pieces of a Woman was such a bit part for her, albeit one in an interesting art house movie, Run Rabbit Run saw her as the lead in a pretty terrible psychological thriller, and The Beanie Bubble? Just - - yeah.
Really odd choices.
I do suspect her career has likely been impacted a bit by the fact that she moved back to Australia, married another actor who has a steady, ongoing gig (Dave Lawson's a part of the core ensemble in Utopia which is a very good and very funny sitcom here!) and has had a baby, to say nothing of the pandemic, and I think she's perhaps still feeling out herself what she'd like her career to look like.
That said, I thought it was really smart that both Sarah and Jeremy have gone back to theatre for their first major roles post-Succession, and Sarah's move I think is particularly smart strategically given it's a Sydney Theatre Company production being performed on London's West End, which kind of relaunches her in theatre in two different spaces.
Sydney Theatre Company is a huge deal in Australia and a world class company - Cate Blanchett and her husband, Andrew Upton were co-artistic directors there for a number of years, and it's a home for many of Australia's best actors like Rose Byrne, Toni Collette, Hugo Weaving, Heather Mitchell (my beloved!!). Sarah already had a relationship with STC prior to Succession - having played Joan of Arc in the STC production of Saint Joan in 2018 - so for one of her first major roles after the series to be back at the Company does really feel like both a homecoming and an opportunity to ascend within the theatrical elite in Australia. The production though that she's in being in the UK's West End I feel offers that two-fold as well.
Getting back into STC though I think opens her doors again to local connections, particularly with the Cate Blanchett set and given Blanchett's been moving steadily into producing in Australia, I could see Sarah being cast in one of her productions? Hopefully a film, given The New Boy and Shayda were infinitely better than Stateless, haha.
In my experience with actors in Australia, the ones with young children tend to lean towards theatre residencies and TV because it's (generally speaking) better / more flexible hours and steadier work, and in many ways, Australian TV is having a bit of a renaissance right now with shows like The Newsreader, Deadloch and Boy Swallows Universe, so I could absolutely see her headlining a mini-series? Perhaps a literary adaptation?
I'd love to see her in something from Jane Campion, Jennifer Kent or Goran Stolevski, and I think all three are a possibility - Goran probably least at this stage just because he's such a new voice.
I think she'll probably pop back up in some US films and TV, and I think she'll probably land a few really meaty ones, but I do kind of think she might be more likely to work between Australia and the UK in the future? I couldn't quite tell you why, and I could be wrong, but yeah. I guess my prediction is that she'll have an incredible career, but I don't necessarily think it'll be US-centric post-Succession, or tremendously high profile.

If JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 5 was dubbed by 4Kids TV
Please don't take this seriously
Join George Green on his quest to defeat the corrupt mayor of New York (because America) from selling drugs! Along the way, he meets Bruno Brown, Nathan Grant, Patrick French, Leon Abbott, and Gully Mist. They team up to save New York and protect a pop star named Trisha Upton all the while defeating evil villains along the way!
Hypothetical cast list:
George Green (Giorno Giovanna) - Sam Riegel
Bruno Brown (Bruno Buccellati) - Dan Green
Nathan Grant (Narancia Ghirga) - Jason Griffith
Patrick French (Pannacotta Fugo) - Andrew Rannells
Leon Abbott (Leone Abbacchio)- Eric Stuart
Gully Mist (Guido Mista)- Marc Diraison
Trisha Upton (Trish Una)- Rebecca Honig
There will be references to pop culture of either the time or modern day and the violence would be heavily edited down. Also, there's the theme song which would be a catchy tune that you'd remember and would get stuck in your head or something along the lines of the rap opening from One Piece.

Year 1541 Part 1:
While Thomas trusted his eldest’s judgement for the future, Andrew was another matter entirely. Andrew was personable but maybe because of the loss of his mother and brothers at such an impressionable age, he was gluttonous and had little desire for any sort of attachment. So Thomas took it into his own hands and found himself at the Upton residence.
The Head of the household Victor had six children as well so he was well aware of the struggles of wanting to secure a future though he had four daughters, the oldest of which he disliked the fact that she had no desire for a family nor was she willing to join the church so he had to marry her to someone okay with that. Which was good enough for Thomas since Andrew had trouble with commitment, he wouldn’t do well as a father either from what Thomas knew of his son. And so, a match was made between Andrew and Dorothy Upton.
Andrew didn’t mind the match and after his 18th birthday he went to meet his future bride and told her that he didn’t mind not having children either which relieved her. Then he left a note for the family and left to visit his cousins in Windenburg until his betrothed was at least of marrying age.
Agnes hated that her brother had left with just a note and decided to seek comfort from Stephen between lessons she would go to him or he would come to her. They loved to steal away what time they could from their respective families.

Had to share this, I love the photos, the evolution of Cate's face is fascinating. This photographer posted these back in 2016. They were taken in September 1998. What he said about her was so acutely different from any description of the Cate Blanchett we know today.
I CAN'T PRETEND MY SHOOT WITH CATE BLANCHETT WAS A NOTABLE SUCCESS. I remember it even now as more than slightly awkward, with neither of us really sure of what we wanted to do on either side of the camera. At the time, she was a young actress with her first really big roles and a reputation as someone to watch.
Tumblr media
Blanchett was in Toronto publicizing her starring role in Elizabeth, playing the young Tudor queen in a film that would lead to an inevitable sequel and a high profile career that has produced a sixth Oscar nomination for Todd Haynes' Carol. She's won twice now, once for playing Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator, and I won't be the first person to suggest that her career is more like Hepburn's than any other movie star.
Tumblr media
Blanchett has had a very nice career, I think. Not a conventional beauty, she's been lucky enough to be spared the cheesecake and nude scenes and has worked with practically every worthwhile director in and outside of Hollywood. It's not to say that she's without her particular charms; she has a great face for period films, though I found her at her most attractive recently playing a highly tailored and psychotic rogue CIA officer in Hanna, which probably says more about me than anything else.
I've never really revisited this shoot until now, so strong was the lingering memory of Blanchett's nervous, unsure demeanor in front of my camera. I don't remember much except that she kept sharing bemused glances with her husband, Andrew Upton, and that she had very big feet and hands. Don't ask me why that detail has lingered.
Well, what a contrast! She oozes confidence and allure now. Master of the gaze!

Kaycee, Ethan and The Gang are at Donahue’s having a fun night out. Suddenly the “Celebrity pass” topic comes out. Your pairing is asked who theirs is… Would they respond there? Would they dismiss the question only to talk about it in private? Who would they choose? Since I know every couple is different…Would they jokingly agree to have a Celebrity pass (not that any of them would actually do anything) or would the feel uncomfortable even having that conversation? / Same for T&C
NONNY! How much I love this question... you have no idea!!!!
I kind of want to write fics for this... or at least HC's, since time is limited and I have a lot to write... but this could be soooo much fun.
But let me answer your questions for now.
Would they respond there?
E/K: Yes. Ethan might be a little put-off, unless he had a glass or two of Scotch (and he always has a glass or two) - so he'd be fine lol
T/C: They probably started the conversation.
Who would they choose?
Ethan: I HC that he has a mad crush on Shakira, so she's definitely on the list. I also believe he is a Kate Upton fan, and we've discussed his crush on Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) on Friends, so they'll be included too. I say he'd round that off with Halle Berry and Eliza Gonzalez.
Kaycee: I've always HC'd that Kaycee had a crush on Jesse Williams, which ticks Ethan off because he says he looks like Tobias, but Kaycee says Ethan is crazy. lol So he's on the list. Her other biggest crushes are Andrew Garfield, Grace Holley, Harry Styles, and Zendaya. (I want to go to that party.)
Tobias: The man has it bad for Sofia Vergara. She's at the top of the list. He and Ethan both lusted over Shakira back in med school (and had a bet about who she'd be more interested in.) So she's on it. He's also including his first crush ever, Sanna Lathan, and he's rounding out his list with Jessica Chastain and Jessica Alba.
Casey: Now I have two things, in HC she has a mad crush on Gandy and doesn't get why everyone says he looks like Ethan, and in DTI, she has a mad crush on Dr. Avery but insists he doesn't look like Tobias. lol So we're going to put David Gandy and Jesse Williams on her list! Also on her list? Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain and Michael B. Jordan.
Tobias gets VERY excited that Jessica Chastain is on both their lists... and he may make a suggestion or two... 😂😂
In reality, none of them would do anything even if afforded the opportunity... but it makes for some fun banter (and in T/C's case, some fun roleplay! 😂😂😂)
Thanks for the ask!

Cate Blanchett sparks fresh row with locals in Cornwall's 'Hollywood-On-Sea' over plans to turn a field into car park and driveway for her sprawling £5million eco home
"...The village of Mawgan Porth where Blanchett has bought is dubbed 'Hollywood-on-Sea' after actors Jason Statham, Jason Momoa and Jamie Dornan were also said to have snapped up holiday homes there.
Locals are upset by the sudden influx of multimillionaires to the village and say 'Cornwall's best kept secret' is on the brink of being overrun by second homeowners who are knocking down traditional 1930s bungalows to build 'James Bond-esque Lego blocks' which nobody can afford.."
WHY IS THE HOLLYWOOD QUEER SET TRYING TO TAKE OVER CORNWALL?
