🌸 Angel skin 🌸
In 1930s , from Albene lightweight, soft and delicate with lustrous smoothness satin was invented which was called Angel skin .
Lustrous thread like, rayon or viscose imitation with natural silk and fabric which become like angel's skin, that's why this fabric was called Angel skin.
Usually, Angel skin uses 12 harness satin that allows for great draping as well as it was used for pajama and beach wear which trend next used to make women's wide pants also which appears wide , silky and smooth.
In the 20th century, this fabric was modified by 5 harness satin and 8 harness satin and with polymers to give a matte look, appears floating warp thread in both side and the third variation is like swan skin. Now a days designer use this different variation fabric for different purpose like evening gown , beach wear, party wear , lingerie etc.

What two gems would make a nacre
Ooh that's kind of a hard one- it depends on the colour of the nacre, I suppose!
How about moonstone and larimar for the tealer variety, and angelskin coral and ammolite for the white-r variety?
An angelskin opal could fit in there somewhere too, but I'm not sure where exactly cxjkdsgdkj
Edit: oo I'd reckon an amazonite or a malachite would be good to get that really strong circular/wavy pattern the tealer variety shows too!!

Artist report 3 - Sally Hewett
Sally Hewett is a multitalented artist from Kent that uses textiles and other materials like Lycra, foam, and angelskin, to create life like soft sculptures. Her Stitching practice centres around beauty and ugliness, and the conventions that categorise them into which is what (Hewett, no date). Hewett mainly focuses on the bodies she finds that challenge the traditional beauty standards and creates pieces that represent the things that society deems as imperfections, e.g., Stretchmarks, scars, and body hair. Hewett also created pieces that represented those who have had gender affirming surgery, which is great as it’s something that isn’t clearly represented in media. Her faceless artwork makes it possible for a larger range of people to feel like they are represented in society, creating a safe space for people to feel comfortable in their skin.

Figure 2
I’d like to mention how she also creates pieces that stray away from the typical characteristics that others have tried to represent in body positive art. The ones that probably caught my attention the most were those that depicted cancer, skin conditions, and the effects of childbirth. Although some things may seem quite graphic and shocking to some, I feel that the detailed and intricate stitching used, aids in evoking a comforting feeling and almost serves as a documentation of life and identity.
I like that Hewett doesn’t feel that she needs to add a description to her art, I feel that a lot of them with the help of a title, allows the viewer to form their own opinions. One piece I’d like to talk about specifically is “Free the nipple” (Figure 1), I think it speaks a lot on how women’s bodies are sexualised and treated differently to men. I find it confusing that in our society, a woman’s breast is seen as inappropriate if the nipple is visible. It makes me question, if nipples are the thing that is sexual, then why are women’s censored but not men’s? This contrasts with another piece she created called “Teet implants” (figure 2), I feel that this has a powerful message as it highlights the true purpose of women’s nipples. Instead of them being objects of sexual pleasure, they are represented as a powerful tool that provides a natural source of energy (Garzón, 2023). Instead of praising and celebrating this ability, people choose to sexualise it and even shun those who openly breastfeed. I think a lot of this is due to women’s bodies being used to sell products, so when it’s seen in a nonsexual way men become repulsed by this.

Angelskin Cream is a hydrating and nourishing cream that keeps the skin from drying out and becoming irritated. It contains glycerin, which acts as a humectant, drawing water from the deepest layers of the skin to the upper layer, keeping it moisturised. Furthermore, the cream does not leave your skin greasy.

What’s In a Pocchiri? Part 14
SURPRISE! I didn’t bother announcing it this year to see how many people would remember my yearly tradition, but The Twelve Days of Fun are BACK! For the next twelve days I’ll be posting a new feature everyday, so let’s get to it! On The First Day of Fun I present... a new pocchiri!
Tumblr media
Image courtesy of Lovelyhoneybee. Materials: Silver, Jade, Coral, and Diamond Motif: Chrysanthemums and Waves Owned By: Nakasato (中里) in Kamishichiken First off, this is one of my favorite pocchiri of all time due to its giant chrysanthemum (one of my favorite flowers) that’s carved from one giant piece of coral, and smack in the center of that flower is a large honkin’ diamond! It looks slightly small in this image, but that diamond is well over a carat in size! That type of coral that it’s carved from is called angelskin as it’s a very light, almost whiteish pink color. As you can imagine, angelskin is extremely valuable and it’s rare to come across such large pieces! Surrounding the flower we have silver swirling around forming water and small leaves. Set into the water at various points are small pieces of jade that act as complementary colors to the light pink coral. Overall it’s a simple piece with not too much background on it that I could find, but its beauty is truly stunning. Here you can see it being worn by Naokazu (尚可寿):

(Content warning: gore, surgery without anaesthesia, body horror.)
Angel’s blood is white-gold and brightly luminous, like liquid light. It soaks into the pearly feathers and makes them glow as if they too were made of light. It soaks into the angel’s robes and it soaks into the ground, limning every blade of grass and grain of soil in radiance. But it doesn’t cling to the sword. The blade is carved from black bone, and it comes away clean as Daphne pulls it from the wound.
She flips the angel face down, and begins to strip away its robes. Natasha hands her the skinning knife, which makes short work of the rest of the fabric. The edge has been sharpened to a butcher’s standard, but the angel’s skin does not part easily. It takes force. Daphne puts her shoulder behind it, and carves deep into the flesh.
They start at the hips, scoring a deep line across the top of the glutes. Natasha holds the wound open with her fingers while Daphne works the blade in under the skin. Shining blood runs in molten electrum rivulets across their hands and leaves the skin gleaming. Together they peel the skin away from the back, Natasha applying the tension while Daphne saws through the connective tissues beneath. “There,” Natasha indicates, “that’s the first wing muscle. Yes, that one.” Daphne cuts the tendon where it attaches to the bone, and the muscle contracts instantly, causing the wing to twitch upwards.  “Crap,” Daphne swears as the cut end disappears into the wound. “We’ll find it,” Natasha assures her grimly. “Keep going.” Before cutting the corresponding tendon on the other side, Daphne shoves a pin through the end of the muscle to give Natasha something to grip.
They keep working.
Daphne cuts, and Natasha folds the severed sections back and out of the way. If the cut surfaces are allowed to touch they will begin to heal back together at once. So she wraps thick cloth around every part - cloth that is instantly soaked so thoroughly that it’s impossible to discern any colour but the white-gold glow.
The bright liquid pools everywhere and makes it difficult to tell one tissue from the next, but Natasha tells Daphne where to cut, and they work their blood-soaked way up the angel’s back. Each wing muscle is sliced away from the bones and from its neighbours. They flay the skin from the ribs all along each side, ensuring a generous margin extends beyond the twitching bundle of musculature.
At the halfway mark, they have to pause to rearrange the wings. Natasha has planned meticulously, and they both know what to do. They lift the wings up and over the shoulders so that their weight pulls in the correct direction. To keep them from flopping apart again they bind the pair together along their length, threading cord carefully between the sharp-edged feathers. The enormous limbs will move as one piece now - important, lest the thin band of tissue between them tear. Then it is back to the butchery, working quicker now as they grow used to the process.
Finally, the wings are severed, attached only by two narrow flaps of skin at the angel’s shoulders. Daphne cuts carefully along the collarbones, and they have their gory prize. Everything is drenched with luminescence. It soaks them both to the shoulders, and streaks across their faces and torsos. Their shins are thoroughly painted with it from kneeling in the spreading stain. The knife is carved from light, the wings are made from it.
The angel’s back is a pure pool of brilliance, as if they cut a hole in the world itself, and Heaven shines through from the other side. They leave it in the dirt, and do not look back.
The surgery has been prepared ahead of time. A metal frame looms ominously over the operating table. Both are festooned with sturdy leather straps. It takes two to fasten the wings in place. They hang gleaming above the table, partially folded, dripping light onto the wood beneath.
Armour is unbuckled and discarded - it will be cleaned later, but time is of the essence. Then Natasha busies herself with preparing the wings, while Daphne sits down to drink. The first bottle is angel’s blood. It coats the inside of the throat like oil and sits heavy and strange in the gut. The second bottle is gin, as much as she can stomach.
Finally she strips naked, walks to the operating table, and crawls in beneath the suspended wings. She threads her arms in amongst the straps, and cooperates as Natasha begins fastening her to the wood. The restraints are thorough. Three straps for each arm, four per leg. “Tighter,” Daphne orders, flexing her muscles and testing the give in the leather. “This is too much wriggle room.” Natasha says nothing, but tightens each buckle another notch or two.
Of the torso straps, they use only one - across the hips. The others would obstruct the surgery, and so remain folded beneath the table. There is a hole in the wood for Daphne’s face, padded about the edges. They have checked the fit ahead of time. Two straps fasten her head securely into place. Finally, a leather bit between Daphne’s teeth gives her something to bite on that isn’t her own tongue.
“I’m ready,” the surgeon tells her patient. “Mm hm,” Daphne confirms.
The cutting begins at the collarbones. Daphne is silent as the scalpel slides through the skin. It draws curves across the back of her neck and the curve of each shoulder. Red blood spills down her skin, washing away the white-gold. Her breath comes in tight huffs through her nose as the surgeon begins to peel the skin carefully back, and her hands ball into white-knuckled fists at her sides. She groans when Natasha presses a hand to the exposed musculature to steady it’s twitching. The scalpel slips confidently between the muscles, parting connective tissues. When the surgeon slides her fingers into the fresh slot, Daphne cries out, hoarse and low. She bites the sound off, and suffers in silence as the steel retractor is pushed into place to hold the wound open.
The surgeon pauses to loosen the ties on the wing above, lowering the glistening flesh to hang mere inches above the fresh incision. She frees a single angelic muscle from the bundle, and feeds the end carefully into the open gap between the human muscles. As the muscle touches blood and flesh, it begins to twitch anew. Natasha was prepared for this, counting on it for even the faintest hope of success, but the sudden motion still makes her gasp. The pallid muscle writhes, hungry for blood and sustenance, still trying to heal itself even after being ripped away from the angel’s body. Daphne screams as it burrows, wormlike, deeper into her flesh, seeking blood vessels and bone. Her back arches and her limbs strain against the straps in a futile, instinctive struggle to escape.
Natasha works faster. There are many more muscles to connect. If they find their way to appropriate anchoring points, perhaps this mad venture will succeed. If they do not, the patient will surely die. Her hands are swift and sure as she works down the back, peeling back the skin and forcing openings for the new muscles to occupy. Daphne screams and screams without end as the angelic tissues squirm hungrily into her body. Natasha cannot be sure whether it is solely the tension of agony that keeps her back arched up off the table, or whether the wings are pulling her upwards, trying to fuse with her faster than the surgeon can work.
She is less than halfway done when the metal frame begins to shake from the spasming of the wings. The first faint tremblings of the hungry muscles are getting stronger by the minute as the nerves begin to form connections. Soon the whole apparatus creaks and rattles wildly, as if the wings are trying to spread and beat and carry the screaming patient away with the surgery unfinished.
By the time the surgery reaches the base of the spine, Daphne’s voice has grown hoarse and cracking. Loosening the strap around her hips unfortunately allows more room for her to move. Her core muscles are exhausted from futile straining and can exert little force, but the wings are still thrashing powerfully, and her body is lifted like a marionette by their struggles. Natasha holds her down as best she can while she removes the last of the skin from Daphne’s back, and makes the cuts that will encourage the wing muscles to find their correct places on the pelvis.
The final stage, once every muscle is firmly rooted, is to let the angelskin lay at last over the flayed-open wound that is Daphne’s back. Natasha’s steady, blood-slicked hands smooth it carefully into place, ensuring that it lies flat. She trims it back at the edges - struggling to force the shears through the tough skin - so that it perfectly fits against the edges of Natasha’s own skin.
This is supposed to be the easiest part. The angelskin was expected to seal itself down almost at once, healing fast into place. But it lacks the vivacity and the hunger of the muscles, and seems reluctant to bond to the base human tissues beneath. There is nothing to be done except to hope that the process will happen eventually, if given sufficient time. To keep it in place for now, the surgeon reaches for needle and thread, and begins to stitch around the edges of the graft.
Daphne has fallen silent at last, limbs trembling loosely in the aftermath of struggle. As Natasha works, the thrashing of the wings slows as well. The tension eases gradually, lowering Daphne’s stomach back to the table. Her pulse remains strong. Eventually she is still, and the remainder of the hundreds of stitches go in without incident.
Natasha expects a dozen complications. She would not be surprised if her patient - her friend - dies within the hour. But so far, it seems to have gone far better than even her most optimistic predictions.

Just posted chapter two! Some smut for your Sunday.
Ekstasis
Explicit, 3530 words, chapters 2/4
--------
ekstasis, Gr. “To be or stand outside of oneself, a removal to elsewhere.”
At first, it was just the warmth of their hands, pulses thrumming against each other, each beat seeming to flare with the words I love you, I love you, I love you.
Crowley sat, breathing deeply but steadily, and didn't look at him. He couldn't.  If he were to look into Aziraphale’s eyes, here, in the close confines of the bus seat, he did not see how he could avoid kissing him; and that, surely, would be too much.
We’re on our own side, he’d offered, and Aziraphale hadn’t disagreed, but Crowley had been wholly unprepared for the slide of warm angelskin into his grasp when they’d sat down.  The whispered sparks of his callused fingers against Aziraphale’s silk.
He’d had to measure his breath carefully, after that, because inside him something felt like it was threatening to break.  As though a log on the hearth of him, threaded through with orange fire, might suddenly shift, crack open, spill embers. Catch flame.
And that couldn’t happen, not here. So he sat, still, dreading the moment the angel would let go of him.
Contunue reading on AO3.
