10) Free Space #1: Which of your OCs would be most likely to survive a zombie apocalypse? Which would die immediately?

Since you didn't specify characters for this one I'll do it for whoever comes to mind!

Survive: Elisabeth, surprisingly, and mostly from a combination of being a plant nerd and therefore being able to figure out food and medicine for things when needed, and sheer dumb luck xD

Mercutio, because he is sneaky and devious and not above throwing other people under the bus to save his own skin. He might feel a little bad about it later on, but his survival has always been his focus.

Foxglove, because honestly, they probably didn't realise it was happening and tend to avoid places where there are a lot of people on principle.

Toby, depending on how the virus works, again, likely because she's out at sea and not around highly populated areas for it to get to her or her crew. But she'd be VERY upset about it if it did come for her crew.

Die: Sadly, Noah, because of his health issues and also because he has a tendency to wander off and explore things as the fancy strikes him and would be unlucky enough to run into a hoard :(

Vanora, likewise, has the attention span of a goldfish and a lackadaisical attitude about her own personal safety and probably ends up thinking she can handle things and ends up getting bitten trying to fight some zombies off. Unfortunately, she'd probably also try to hide that fact which would not bode well for anyone.

Annabelle. Just....this girl has negative survival skills. Do not put her into situations.

14) How does your character feel about riding horses (or your world’s closest approximation of a horse if it lacks horses)?

Elisabeth's pre-Summit experience with horses is probably the one old work pony around the estate that is like half work pony and half mild mannered babysitter. She finds larger horses kind of intimidating (but also likes feeling tall), and isn't the most skilled rider, so she wouldn't go above a slow canter at most, but she doesn't have strong feelings on them either way. Would prefer walking, though. She is more indignant about someone hurting the horse than she is about someone doing so to try to hurt her xD

Enid is an avid sportswoman and accomplished rider. Spoils her horses rotten, and probably gives them silly food names like Biscuit and Scone or something. She is absolutely convinced she could do better at picking horses for people and probably would tell the stablehands so, if she didn't have an internal voice reminding her to mind her manners. Zarad, of course, hears it all when he approaches her at the end of the ride xD

Annabelle likes the idea of horses, and likes feeding the ones at the palace apples and sugar cubes and when the stablehands let her braid their tails and manes or brush them. She might be able to ride sidesaddle at a walk, and probably thinks this is very daring and impressive (it's not). After the group ride, firmly comes down on they are very pretty to look at, but no thank you, she does not wish to ride one any time soon!

Toby *could* ride. If she really wanted to. Which she mostly doesn't, thank you very much. She thinks they're pretty, but silly and skittish, and they can tell and are not amused.

Jienne dislikes how large they are and how sharp their hooves look and is absolutely holding her reins in a death grip the entire ride, which really only cements in her mind that horses are very much not for her.

Alvida is somewhere between Jienne and Toby. She *could* ride, if she wanted, but also horses are so very large, and she is so very short, that she always feels she looks ridiculous at every point of the process. She would much prefer a carriage or walking.

Noah likes horses, and he's had more interaction with them pre-Summit than Elisabeth. Unfortunately, he is not a particularly skilled rider either. In large part because he's a little anxious about it, and he always seems to get the ones who sense this, but instead of going into school pony mode, go into "I can get away with SO much chaos" mode. He's probably still trying to get his horse to please STOP eating everything in sight and just WALK when Elisabeth is dealing with the horse shenanigans during the group ride and only catches up after his horse decides to see what all the fuss is about xD But he keeps trying! Maybe it'll work out someday!

HI ANON!! Thank you, thank you. My heart is so glad you read my nonsense.

I just listened to the song, and I cannot stress how correct you are. Even the instrumental is perfect. The beginning piano made me think of her and Lenore.

This song is SO Annabel core regarding her anxiety and the way she feels like she has to play games to keep control of a life she knows she cannot change. Games are her way of having that power because she can’t have it anywhere else. She’s a victim to society and it’s standards, and she isn’t foolish enough to challenge the system.

Then I think of the scene when she’s panicking in the bath. Could that be the quiet she’s afraid of? Her own mind, alone and empty when there are no more games to play? She’s afraid of what it means to be unable to think without being plagued by thoughts she didn’t ask for. She thinks herself mad.

One line that really stuck out to me was

“But what if i drop the ball for just a moment

Who would pick it up, a friend or an opponent”

Because this applies in life and death. If she loses to a man in chess, that is it. If she loses her composure and ruins the image she’s forced to use, that is it. And her fate would change depending on who saw it- who sees her as a trophy and who sees her as a person.

And in death, if she loses control of her group…who will pick up the pieces? Someone trusted like Prospero? Or will Montresor be too quick and scoop up the shards, digging his fingers into the edges and taking over like he did with the Duke plan?

It’s SO easy to imagine an animatic of this song of Annabel switching between life and death. THANK YOU for bringing the song to me because it really is perfect for her, and I have SO many thoughts.

If the characters played D&D…

So the hiatus has me climbing the walls. I'm also stuck on that Tom Cardy song, so I've been thinking about what classes and archetypes the characters would use in D&D 5e:

Lenore: Rogue Swashbuckler. The dashing rogue among the dashing rogues. Swift, elusive, and described as "graceful, swift, and charming". Lenore would have a blast with this one.

Annabel: Bard of the Collegue of Whispers. A master manipulator with an array of abilities to play with the minds of enemies, described in the manual as a "wolf among sheep". They created this archetype for her.

Duke: Sorcerer Wild Magic. The Wheel of Wild Magic. This archetype has a way of coming up with the worst rolls at the worst times, and Duke would have a great time dragging them all to the plane of fire because he can (or becoming a potted plant).

Pluto: Sorcerer Shadow Magic. Our Emo Cat Boy gets the most emo archetype in the game. I'm sure he'd replace the Shadowhound with a kitten.

Berenice: Barbarian Path of the Beast. The ability to dive in head first, take a lot of damage with the power to get pissed off while biting or clawing your head off? This girl is a barbarian off the table and will be a barbarian on the table.

Eulalie: Cleric Trickery Domain. These bastards heal, exorcise monsters, and have access to a lot of illusion spells to laugh in your face before killing you. Don't mess with Eulalie. And don't mess with a cleric.

Morella: Paladin Oath of Redemption. At first I wanted to choose the one of devotion because Morella is as good as bread, but these paladins not only have a lot of skills to protect allies, they also believe that everyone has a good side and I see Morella as the player who wants to be friends with all the NPCs (and monsters).

Prospero: Druid Circle of Spores. I'm 100% sure that Prospero believes that all these people except Annabel are playing ping-pong with the same available neuron (and will change his mind when he sees her interacting with Lenore), so picking a Swiss Army knife with homicidal tendencies seems like a natural choice for him.

Ada: This girl has no class, she is the fucking DM. The fucking DM whose players are always making combat chunks, forcing her to pull shit out of her sleeve because they're coming up with idiocies she never thought of in her life and telling her "I'm looting the corpse" before she's finished talking.

ANON!!! I cannot put into words how much I loved your kind words! I literally have been reading this over and over because it's so sweet and wonderful! Thank you for comparing me to the Bard, especially since I never really thought my ideas were so much as interesting rather than creative and spectacular! I could not have made this story and written it out without the fantastic support the people on this site have given me!

Seriously, I cannot emphasize how happy reading this has made me. Tumblr has really become a major and significant safe place for me because I am considered a bit more nerdy than most all of my family members. A lot of the fandoms I am in, they aren't and I can't really introduce it to them because it would just take too much brain energy and no one has time for that.

Regarding Michael and Reader, there are definitely plans coming for them in the future! Maybe these plans will be from Farleigh, maybe they'll come from Annabel (oh yea, she's part of the 'I love Reader, but I don't want to admit it' club). But Felix is definitely going to try to separate them and make Michael seem more like a pathetic nerd, and it's only going to backfire on him (I cannot wait to write this part)!

And the idea of Felix actually being an asshole was a really big thought I kept revisiting while watching the film. We know that the entire story is told from Oliver's perspective, and the guy is biased as FUCK. He paints Felix as this godly saint who deserves all the love and adoration from the world, but there was just something about him that just...gave me the ick. The biggest clues for me were when he and Farleigh were arguing about Farleigh's mom, and then Farleigh made the point about the 'footmen,' and Felix said "We DOn'T SeE RAcE"...like...BOI!

Also, the cavalier way he was giving the tour of his house with Oliver, we will also be seeing that with Reader, but obviously, she will be having a much different reaction (AKA: DISGUST).

life  is  not  easy  for  the  dragoness  ,  though  her  days  are  filled  with  ease  ;  there  is  little  for  her  lord  husband  to  do  whilst  his  father  still  draws  breath ,  lesser  still  for  herself ,  save  for  the  making  of  heirs  &  even  with  that  she  falters  .  years  flitter  by  &  her  womb  remains  barren  ,  but  they  do  not  remain  childless  .  the  gods  wreck  a  ship  and  bless  her  with  her  first  child  ;  orphaned  by  the  storm  they  are  in  want  of  a  family  and  rhaenys  is  desperate  for  motherhood .  laena  finds  them  next  and  with  their  children  at  their  side  ,  they  leave  the  sapphire  isle  in  search  of  purpose . 

essos  is  explored  ,  alliances  and  trade  deals  are  brokered  ,  they  are  feted  by  magisters  ,  princes  and  other  ruling  nobles  –  her  family  thrive   &  still  there  is  an  absence  in  her  heart  .  there  will  be  a  price  ,  the  woman  is  quick  to  warn  ,  but  the  dismissive  wave  of  her  hand  encourages  her  onwards  .  it  would  not  work  ,  such  things  are  tales  of  fantasy  and  nothing  more .   when  she  does  not  bleed  the  following  month  she  deems  it  a  fluke  ;  when  her  belly  swells  she  blames  it  on  the  richness  of  pentoshi  dishes .  when  she  feels  a  kick  ,  her  heart  stop  still .  her  twins  are  born  across  the  narrow  see  ,  in  blood  and  sweat  stained  sheets  ;  her  screams  carrying  upon  the  winds  to  the  dragonpit  of  castamere  ,  where  her  slumbering  beast  echoes  its  mistresses  cries  of  agony .  as  dawn  breaks  ,  rhaenys  barters  with  the  stranger  for  more  time ;  there  will  be  a  price  ,  the  womans  spectre  whispers  –  but  it  won't  be  her ,  not  that  day  at  east . 

there  will  be  no  more  children  with  violet  eyes  and  moonbathed  hair ,  the  maesters  had  informed  her  as  much  .  that  is  my  price  ,  rhaenys  thinks ,  wishes  ,  preys  .  and  in  time  she  puts  it  to  the  back  of  her  mind  ,  her  children  flourish  &  that  woman  becomes  nothing  more  than  a  fraud ,  an  easy  declaration  to  make  ,  when  distance  is  put  between  you .  maegelle  and  maegor  complete  her  family  ,  but  there  is  no  ease  to  be  had  .  they  are  sickly  too  frequently  ,  the  strain  of  her  worry  threatening  to  fracture  all  she  holds  dear .  no  expense  is  spared  when  it  comes  to  finding  remedies  ,  it  consumes  her  &  she  can  become  neglectful  of  all  else  she  holds  dear .  her  twins  are  needy  and  it  is  draining  ,  paradoxically  she  seeks  her  distance  from  them  and  yet  cannot  abide  their  absence .  this  is  the  price  ,  rhaella  whispers  ,  her  sanity  loosening   with  every  sleepless  night .  

recent  events  at  king's  landing  have  only  compounded  her  fears  ;  blood  magic ,  they  whisper ,  and  her  blood  runs  cold  at  every  utterance .  determined  not  to  succumb  to  her  price  ,  rhaenys  has  travelled  to  highgarden  in  hopes  of  finding  some  peace  amongst  her  kin  and  perhaps  even  finding  some  form  of  purpose .

Okay, this one is a bit odd, but bear with me. What if Lapin was one of Joren's partners, and thus one of Liam's many parents.

There are several spoilers for a Crown of Candy under the cut, proceed at your own discretion.

So my thoughts are that in this AU Lapin never messed with the SPF and thus isn't a Warlock, but I think he would make an awesome College of Lore Bard. That way he could still have access to fly at the sixth level and that he is a charisma based spellcaster. Basically Lapin would be getting magic by preserving the stories of the ancestral spirits of each of the different countries in Comida.

I personally think that he would have a special focus into the spirits of the Dairy Isles and the Sweetening Path. The Sweetening Path is obvious, given where he's from. The Dairy Isles is because they are Candia's allies and that they ate receptive to his work in a way that Vegetania for sure wouldn't be. He also occasionally goes over to the Meatlands, but not as much as the Isles.

I think that since Lapin visits the Dairy Isles so much he does get to know young Annabelle Cheddar and maybe Duchess Primsy. He grows close to them and is kind of a family friend. I think he would also be keeping his ears open for news on the Witch Queen of the Dairy Sea when whe grows more prominent. Maybe he is even pencils of sorts with Saccharina, but he doesn't know she is Amethar's kid, just that she cares for magic and that is something he can get behind.

Now Lapin's relationship to Joren, his other partners, and his kids is sort of complicated. He isn't dating many of Joren's partners. Just Spearia and maybe one other, an orange person, I think. But he does get on with all of them. He does have favorites of the children and Liam is up there, he might be the favorite, but Lapin does like some of the children that got married pretty well. Liam is for sure his favorite that still lives at home which is why he volunteered to go with him and Preston to Castle Candy to be Amethar's ward.

Lapin spends a good amount of time with Liam when he is at Castle Many-Licks. He spends time walking in the woulds with Liam and treats his scrapes and bruises with magic. He tells Liam bedtime stories after he has nightmares as well they are just pretty close whenever Lapin is home and when he isn't he sends many letters to Liam as well as his lovers.

Lapin is not widely known as one of Joren's partners as they aren't in a Bulbian marriage, but they aren't hiding it. So most people assume that Lapin is one of Joren's advisors or an ambassador to the Dairy Isles. So that is the guise he uses to go with Liam. He just pretends that he is there to help Liam learn and is like his personal tutor. Lapin likes to go under the radar and also it means that he Theo can snipe at each other freely. If Theo knew Lapin was partners with Joren you know they wouldn't be getting in those arguments.

So there are two ways I see this AU going. The first is pretty similar to the events of Canon, where Lapin still dies and all that but Liam is sadder and they have to explain the loss to Joren. So Liam sending Preston after Lapin is also a little more tragic because in this AU I headcanon that getting Liam a pig was Lapin's idea. Like Spearia wanted to get him an animal but didn't know which animal and Lapin suggest a pig that was known for rooting which was something that Liam was passionate about. So in the Cathedral both of Liam's ties to his home and childhood are effectively ripped away from him.

But everything else is relatively the same. Liam still runs into him and Preston in the SPF's lair post battle, that reunion is just a little more soft and them leaving is a little more sad. Also Saccharina finding out what happened to her kind penal might make it even harder to dissuade her from absolutely destroying the Bulbian Church, not that she doesn't have a good enough reason already.

The other way is more fun and I think it means everyone lives because they deserve happiness dammit! So my thoughts are that in the cathedral fight he still casts fly on Theo, but he could cutting words one of Keradin's attacks and survive that first round and then disengage with that fucking carrot. He could get in a mass healing word with a bonus action, that is if he retains concentration on fly on Theo. If he keeps concentration then Theo could come back and get him and they all get away from the cathedral. If he doesn't then he can cast fly on himself and they all get away from the cathedral.

I think that since they all survive, but Lapin did step in and take hits that were meant for Liam that he would keep close to his dad. And after they made it back to Castle Candy that if both he and Jet didn't want to go the the lingerie shop that Ruby wouldn't have gone and thus Jet lives. (They would still meet Cumulous during the attack on Primsy) The kids, Lapin, Theo, Cumulous, and Caramelinda all get out through the secret passages and meet Amethar at the base of the tower before totally slipping away to Manta Ray's ship.

They still meet Saccharina the same way, but she is met with a better reception because Jet is still alive. Ruby and Jet would be thrilled to have another sister and Saccharina is so cool. Amethar is happy to have another daughter. Caramelinda is still fairly cold, but you know her entire life had been turned upside down so I think she is allowed to be a little distant. Also Saccharina already has a friend amongst the party in Lapin. Also the other boys were happy enough to accept her in the campaign as it was.

The rescue mission for Joren leads to the rest of the party (apart from Liam) finding out that Lapin and Joren slam it down big style. (Theo practically implodes when he finds out that he was sniping at one of Joren's lovers.) I think this whole seen would be hilarious. (Also after the rescue Joren totally kisses Lapin in front of everybody.)

I think that everything else is pretty similar except that final battle goes by a little quicker and is more in their favor because of Lapin and Jet.
