Hello everyone and hope you’re doing well, whatever you’re doing and wherever you are in the world! Today I was inspired to take part in the #threebooksinoneday challenge which I saw over on @breathe.andread page. The idea is, a magical genie 🧞‍♀️ appears and gives you the opportunity to read three books from your TBR in just one day. What would you choose? 🧐 I’ve chosen three chunky beasts: Middlemarch by George Eliot I’ve just recently got back into classics and although I’ve read some pretty meaty books recently (hello Count Of Monte Cristo 😂) I keep gulping when I look at this one! The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton This has been on my shelves and I’ve been banging on about reading it for so many years. Will 2023 be the year I just DO IT? We’ll see! Hame by Annalena McAfee This is such a beautiful book that I picked up in perfect condition from a bookshop near Tottenham Court Road, London. Set in Scotland, I must get round to reading this! Morgan ⁣ The Starless Sea - Erin Morgenstern⁣ The Devil And The Dark Water - Stuart Turton⁣ ⁣ I’m reading The Devil And The Dark Water right now and absolutely loving it and I’m hoping to read Sleeping Beauties and The Mirror And The Light soon. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve got a few large paperbacks on my shelves too but I thought I’d show my hardbacks first as they look so gorgeous. The Luminaries in particular has been on my shelves for a LONG time and I don’t know why, but I’m so intimidated by it! Good evening from the UK 🇬🇧 I hope you’re all well. Today I’m taking part in #aboutmeinbooks which I was tagged in by the lovely @crazyinsaneavidreader ⁣ I’ve chosen five books that I think represent me quite well, all for very different reasons!⁣ ⁣ 🤡 It by Stephen King - this was my first introduction to King at about 14 years old and it both scarred me 😂 and set up a life-long fascination and love for the author that I usually don’t shut up about! ⁣ ⁣ Headstrong by Rachel Swaby - this nonfiction book is all about female scientists that changed the world! Although I haven’t done much towards changing the world, I am a proud scientist 👩‍🔬 in my non bookstagram life and love my job. ⁣ ⁣ 🦸🏼‍♀️ How To Be A Heroine - Samantha Ellis - this is another nonfiction that I can’t wait to get to. It follows the author’s reading life and her favourite books and I’m guessing, some of her most beloved heroines. I have a soft spot for a literary heroine being a feminist, my favourites include Elizabeth Bennet and Jane Eyre. ⁣ ⁣ ❄️ The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey - I’ve been through some tough times in the past few years including infertility and miscarriages and always think it’s important to talk about it so other women don’t feel as alone as I did. This book touched me (and still touches me) on such a personal level and will always be special to me.⁣ ⁣ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Hame by Annalena McAfee - this novel is set in Scotland, a country I’m fiercely proud and patriotic about as it’s where my whole family hail from. I don’t go back “hame” as much as I should and ever time I go back and then leave again I break my heart a little bit! 😂⁣ ⁣ I’d love to know more about you in books!
