It's actually vile how the USPS- one of the few government services that's actually good- is constantly under attack by Republicans and their billionaire overlords and mouthbreathing conservative voters justify it because "well, the USPS loses a lot of money." aaaa thank u!!! <33 i’m definitely still figuring out how i want to draw/where i want to take my art too but i would say the things that have helped me recently are:

- study from life!!!! ik literally every artist says this but it’s 100% true - u have to know the rules before u can break them etc etc. for the human figure, im currently focusing on gesture and breaking things down into simple forms. (i took an anatomy for artists elective in uni but tbh it was not much use without developing my simplification/3D thinking skills first. u don’t have to completely nail these before starting anatomy obv but having a decent understanding of them helps soooo much. im still trying to get better at this argh!!) i go to casual life drawing classes but u can also study from photos online!! but if u have the chance i would def recommend trying it irl, makes such a difference being able to see forms in 3D. everything is shapes. start with shapes.

- STUDY FROM OTHER ARTISTS. took me WAY too long to realise this…. a lot of an artists style is the decisions they make on how to simplify things. this goes hand in hand w doing studies from life, bc then u have an idea of what the anatomy and forms would look like on a realistic human figure, and can analyse how/to what extent the artist has decided to stylise these. this is a good demonstration of it actually… (i would also recommend proko’s videos in general… and looking into shape language and gesture drawing)

- and most importantly…. draw what u like!!! play to ur strengths!! most of my old full illustrations were hesitantly lined n awkwardly rendered bc idk… i just thought that was The way to do full illustrations LMAO. studying other artists rly helps here - find things that inspire u, try them out, pick out the things u liked/did well, repeat!!

- all these things may not even result in one clear art style anyway - and that’s fine esp if ur just drawing for fun. u can do whatever!! :D

Saw The Substance and when we walked out of the theater I heard someone telling her friend ‘that movie had the male gaze written all over it’. Like no miss Coralie Fargeat just likes ass 😡

No one uses the male gaze right! Its just the only film criticism word they know so they use it! There is a reason the camera films naked Elisbeth and naked Sue different, kind of the point of the film actually.

Also again the movie is French. There is nothing French filmmakers love more than showing some ass. Especially Miss Fargeat who's favorite things in the world as far as I can tell are lady ass, montage editing, and blood.
