Mourning a ship by another ship, part III :
Do you also think that Joey & Rachel were meant to be together ?!
youtube
Are you looking for a couple in the same mood ?! Going from friends to final lovers on the couple who was supposed to be the iconic couple one of the series ?!
Well, you find your happiness with Joey & Pacey ! (Jacey)
youtube
Who they managed to overtake the couple who should have ended up together originally, namely obviously Joey & Dawson. Sorry, but it should have been the same with Rachel & Joey. She really should have ended up with him, instead of Ross...

The episode ‘Sex and Violence’ is frustrating to watch. Joey acts completely unprofessional and spills cream on Sadia. Pacey tells Joey that he does not have to respect her or even like her, because she’s his secretary. And then they start making out. Am insulated to find this endearing?
One of the reasons I can’t get behind PJ is because, like Dawson, Pacey casts Joey in the role that he wants her to play in his life. In Love Bites he tells Joey: “my whole life you have been the most beautiful thing in my orbit. And my feelings for you were what proved to me that I could be great. And those feelings were stronger and were wiser and more persistent and more resilient than anything else about me.”
He is making his happiness/self-worth Joey’s responsibility. He loves an idealized version of Joey. This mindset is what led to their breakup in ‘Promicide.’ It doesn’t help that Pacey’s speech feels unearned. I’m glad that he danced with Joey instead of leaving her but I find it hard time to root for them.
Joey’s indecisiveness is really annoying as well. She tells Pacey (and Dawson) that she’s all in and then changes her mind. Joey choosing Eddie after he ditches her twice makes very little sense to me. Maybe the fact that he isn’t her high school ex bf is appealing to her.

Yeah omg I just watched this episode! I mean I'm not gonna lie, they had sexual tension when they were arguing about whether Joey is jealous or not and when they started making out it was hot. But when just like you said, Joey's behavior was unprofessional and annoying and Pacey's: "I don't have to respect you!" was just... yikes. I don't even know who I hated more in that moment.
I don't like what Pacey has become in season 6. Most people praise him for being a "feminist" and "ally to women" but he has his also moments like this one or the episode before (a great episode btw probably the highlight of the last two seasons) when he yelled at Joey that she isn't more devastated about their breakup when it was HIM who broke up with HER and went on to date other people right away as if they never even happened.
While I don't know which speech you're talking about because I haven't got that far yet, you're right that Pacey acts as if his self-worth was Joey's responsibility. It was evident from his outburst in Promicide. While I do think that Joey making him feel bad about himself is a red flag in their relationship, it's not her fault or her responsibility to make him feel good about himself. Just like you pointed out it's similar to Dawson- he aleo feels like everything bad that happens in his life is Joey's fault and she should be there for him to carress his fragile male ego no matter what.
I haven't got as far as when Joey chooses Eddie over him but I disagree with the claim that "Eddie ditched Joey twice". The first time he ditched her but the other time she TOLD him to go. Not defending Eddie or anything (ditching someone once is still one too many times) just setting the record straight

I’ll tell ya... no TV family makes me quite so angry as the entire Leery family and Leery in laws.
Today i’m feeling pure rage towards Aunt Gwen (Dawson’s aunt and Gail’s sister). I’ve been rewatching “Stolen Kisses” and that is a creepy psycho bitch and she needs to be separated from all children.
This is the first sniff of Aunt Gwen being more than just a harmless kooky artsy woman. She is conniving throughout this entire episode trying to force a connection between Dawson and Joey. Also it’s a bit weird to invite only a bunch of kids to your house and then proceed to single out two as them and say only you two are gonna help me shop. You three rando kids who were allowed to be in my care by your parents... ya’ll are on your own. How about you explore the crappy pool hall where God knows what kind of unsavory folks hang around? Also woman!! Why didn’t you fucking shop for food before your guests got there?
Tumblr media
OH MY FUCKING WORD!!! This woman needs to get a life instead poking her ugly nose into a bunch of children’s love lives. I know your husband died but maybe it’s time to find a new one cause clearly you can’t help your compulsion to live vicariously through your fucking nephew!!
Tumblr media
Seriously woman!! I know you live a boring life in a boring small town but maybe you should find some good activity aside from obsessing about these children’s love lives! Just a thought!
Tumblr media
Okay!! Now this is all starting to make sense!! Not only is Aunt Gwen a witch with a capitol B... she’s also an actual witch!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOOOO!!!! Gwen is a fucking psycho!!! Who paints two children you know because you want them to be in a relationship!?!? Psycho Aunt Gwen does!!!! Get these children away from this woman... i’m seriously scared for their safety!! Also this is a really ugly painting!! This is an insult to the art of painting!! 🤢🤢🤢
Tumblr media
It wasn’t until like 20th watching of this episode that I noticed how creepily Aunt Gwen looks at Joey after she says that the Dawson and Joey picture is her favorite. She’s a bit too close to Joey, and she kinda looks at her in a suggestive way that is clearly meant to imply that she is showing Joey this picture to instill romantic feelings towards Dawson. You can kinda see it in picture form but it’s even clearer in video form and I gotta say chief... I don’t like it. I don’t like it fam... it makes me uncomfy how invested Aunt Gwen is in the love life her nephew and this girl she hardly knows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHO THE FUCK CARES!!! Maybe if everyone in Dawson’s life didn’t pussy foot around his feelings maybe he wouldn’t be such a fucking spoiled man baby who goes insane whenever he doesn’t get his own way. Or gets scarred whenever he sees a woman make her own decision and not allow him to treat her like a trophy that belongs to him to be put on his mantel and brought down whenever he damn well pleases!! 👿👿
Tumblr media
Okay, i’m gonna need ya’ll to file what Aunt Gwen said here in the back of your mind because it’s gonna be important real soon. She told Joey that she needs to tell Dawson about her and Pacey kissing.
Tumblr media
This is un fucking believable!!! So she insists that Joey talk to Dawson. Right after she walks in on Joey clearly about to have an important talk with Dawson, interrupts them and then instead of insisting that Joey stay she allows Joey to leave and then fucking Aunt Gwen pulls out that creepy picture and gives it to Dawson. Knowing full well that Joey had just been kissing Pacey and had feelings for Pacey.... she is still conniving to get Dawson to act upon his feelings for Joey. What is her endgame? Her best case scenario is that Joey abandons Pacey for Dawson. How cruel is that? To see that this boy named Pacey Witter has feelings for Joey and then to connive to have Joey break his heart and her own heart in the process. Or worst case scenario for Gwen is it blows up in Dawson’s face and Joey rejects him for Pacey which ulimately happened. How is that being a good aunt? Setting your nephew up for heartbreak? Setting up some other kid for heartbreak and setting up Joey for heartbreak. Aunt Gwen you aren’t even worth a pile of shit!!! Go to hell you witch!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I find it funny how all throughout this episode she is trying to connive Dawson and Joey back together yet she’s continually pushing Pacey and Joey closer together. Just by her being mostly. She’s this artsy woman that Joey relates to and she was in a boring marriage that the writers are clearly comparing to Dawson and Joey. And they are comparing Pacey to Richard who is the man who “stole” Aunt Gwen from her husband and made her feel alive. And this is clearly how Joey feels... Joey is seeing Dawson as Gwen’s ex husband and Joey is seeing Pacey as the Richard figure who makes her feel alive. So Aunt Gwen is saying how Richard made her feel alive thinking that Joey is gonna realize that Dawson makes her feel alive but in reality Joey is falling more and more in love with Pacey the more Gwen talks. Isn’t it ironic in the words of Alanis Morisette.
In conclusion... the entire Leery family is trash and should be sent to their own ugly toxic island where they can’t infect the rest of the world.
Also it’s because of this episode that I have fantasies of Aunt Gwen being forced to attend Pacey and Joey’s wedding and seeing once and for all that her conniving did not work one iota!!! True love won out in the end and Dawson got nothing.... I hope his movies will keep him warm at night cause Joey certainly won’t and I can’t imagine anyone putting up with his crap for more than a week!! 😂😂

oKAY so you know that episode of Dawson’s Creek in season 3 where they’re at the prom (you know the one don’t pretend you don’t) and Joey is UNDERSTANDABLY miserable, she has to dance with Dawson all night while staring at the guy she loves as he dances with his ex-girlfriend? And she gets mad at Dawson because he’s acting like this is a date and rubbing it in Pacey’s face even though Joey clEaRLy stated that this was not a date and they were only going as friends? And then instead of acknowledging all of her very real concerns and reasons to be upset?? What does he do????
He gets the world’s most obnoxious grin on his face and says, “It’s just Dawson and Joey, at the prom, having a good time”
NO SHE’S NOT YOU STALE EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING SHE IS NOT HAVING A GOOD TIME.
Uch so anyways. That happened.

Dawson Leery saying “I’m good at impossible situations” when he tried killing one of his best friends for being in love with his other best friend only a year ago. A possible situation he was not good at handling. You love to hear it!!

as much as i think the “you’re off the hook” scene is Perfect and love both their speeches, what i didn’t get was Joey talking about her and Dawson.
i think what she meant by it was “platonic”, but “pure and eternally innocent” w…hat? um, him making her turn her dad in, blaming his father’s death on her, sleeping with her when he had a gf… i mean, they had so much more shit between them compared to PJo, lol. (the only thing that Pacey ever fucked up was the prom, which was such an isolated incident…)

The love triangle in himym  parallels the one in Dawson’s Creek.
I just realized how much the love triangle in How I Met Your Mother parallels the one in Dawson’s Creek. Ted and Dawson are main characters that we are supposed to root for even though they are insufferable, Robin and Joey are the main love interests that have an unhealthy relationship with the main character (even though words like “soulmate” and “meant to be” get thrown around a lot to convince us otherwise) and Barney and Pacey are the main character’s goofy best friend that fans actually prefer over the main character. It’s crazy that even the episode when Jacey and Swarkles have their first kiss is the same episode (3x17)

Yes there is a deleted scene with Andie on YouTube.
https://youtu.be/ue5tNvfVqdM
This is the link, although you’ve probably seen it.
The writers wanted the show to end with Joey going to Paris but the network didn’t. So they asked Kevin Williamson, the creator of the show to come back and resolve the triangle. He wrote the first part of the 2 parter with a Dawson/Joey ending in mind. That’s why he brought back Andie for Pacey but then realized she would be, in his words, “a consolation prize” and ended the series with a Joey/Pacey endgame after being witness to Katie and Josh’s chemistry.
I love that Jen and Jack got more screen time but I really hate that they killed off Jen off to further a stupid love triangle. Kevin Williamson said that he gave Jen a a baby because he always wanted Jack to be a dad. Even her baby was meant to give someone else their happy ending. As for the love triangle, I didn’t care for it and found contrived and overdone. While I think Pacey is a better option for Joey, the writers didn’t put in much work to have her end up with anyone. Joey and Pacey’s speeches to eachother felt unearned. I also didn’t like Joey kept bringing up Dawson during the speech where she was telling Pacey she loves him but the writers did it because they didn’t want to give he choice away. It was annoying. The “platonic soulmate” thing felt like a copout because the writers had build DJ up to be this epic thing. Nevertheless, I didn’t mind it with Jen and Jack.
More thoughts:
I really hated that Pacey was sleeping with a married woman. The show never addressed this behavior. It’s like they glossed over it because “he has a heart of gold.”
Also annoyed that the framed photo on Dawson’s desk didn’t include Jack and Andie.
I preferred Pandie’s interactions to PJs because Pacey (and Dawson) use Joey as an emotionless crutch. Like Joey constantly has to stroke their egos and make them less insecure. What I like about Andie is that she gives out practical advice while employing the “tough love” tactic. When Pacey was failing school she made it clear she won’t come to his pity party and sternly told him that he’s smart. She also helped him study.
Whenever they do the tough love thing with Joey it doesn’t work. A great example is when, when she told Pacey that he asks for people to leave. It wasn’t fair, because he begged her to stay. The narrative never acknowledged when Joey was in the wrong, because of her Mary-Sue status.
Hi anon! Yeah I've seen the scene and it was so good! And I guess it really makes sense that they were orginally writing a Dawson x Joey endgame and wanted Pacey to end up with Andie because of the way he looks at her when he sees her. But I guess they caved to the bigger and louder fanbase.
Jen deserved so much better and I have already ranted about it I think. While her dying and her video to her daughter were heartbreaking, to think that even as it was dying the only thing she wished for was that Joey chooses between Dawson and Pacey... like come on. If that was the whole point she didn't have to die at all! It's a stupid reason to kill off a character. And wow I didn't know that the reason they made her a single mother was to give Jack a child! That's so weird! Jen is literally always serving to other characters while they treat her as an outsider it's so unfair!
Hmm I don't necesseraly agree with you that the "platonic soulmate" ending was bad. I feel like originally the writers intended Dawson and Joey to be this epic Ross and Rachel-esque love story but they soon found out that the actors lacked the chemistry. They wrote themselves into a corner with them. They had constant back and forth will they won't they and it was clearly leading up to them being endgame but then they changed their plan last minute because, again, they caved to the louder and bigger fanbase.
But I like the idea in the end that they are just "platonic soulmates" and that there's more than one type of soulmate. In the end Dawson finally accepted it and moved on and let their best friends be happy. But true Jen and Jack are a better representation of platonic soulmates. Their friendship and connection feels more genuine and natural.
I didn't mind Pacey sleeping with a married woman that much because it gave us that Jacey kiss on Gale's wedding. It reminded me of that moment in Gossip Girl when Nate and Serena kissed to make the Dutchess Catherine jealous. However what I missed in that moment was seeing some kind of reaction from Dawson. I mean they were supposed to be a love triangle!
That framed picture should have includes Andie and Jack but then again, this version of the finale pretends Andie doesn't exist.
That is so true what you said about the "tough love" that Andie shows to Pacey! It's one of the reasons I prefer them to Pacey and Joey! Andie never babies Pacey. Maybe that's why she is ultimately the one that changed him. Whenever Pacey is feeling bad about himself she says: "no, I am not going to come to your pity party" and it works! It reminds me of Rory's attitude with Jess. "Don't give me that 'I'm so misunderstood' Kurt Cobain-y crap, you're much stronger than that!" and it also worked! Meanwhile Joey always feels the need to stroke Dawson's, Pacey's and even Eddie's fragile egos.
I honestly don't remember the moment you're talking about when Joey told Pacey that he wants people to leave.

The difference between Pacey and Dawson is so stark!!
Just look in “The Anti Prom,” Pacey and Joey are dancing and Joey notices Dawson come up behind them and angrily watching them dance. Joey doesn’t even have to say a word... Pacey doesn’t even have to see her face he knows by her body language that Dawson is behind them. It really shows how empathetic Pacey is and how completely tuned into Joey and her emotions he is...
Tumblr media
You compare that to in “True Love.” Joey and Dawson are dancing and Joey is recounting how they are going to spend the summer together and what they are gonna do and Joey is literally crying in Dawson’s arms at the very thought of spending a summer with him instead of Pacey. Dawson is straight up staring at her and acting confused about her reactions. The truth is I don’t want to give Dawson credit by saying that he didn’t realize. The truth is he’s a selfish motherfucker who knew the pain he was putting Joey through and he DID. NOT. CARE. not one bit. Joey is upset and in pain after being manipulated out of a relationship with Pacey BY DAWSON... and Dawson doesn’t care about her pain, all he cares about is that her pain and attitude is cramping his style and his ability to fantasize that they are a perfect happy couple. All Dawson cares about is what he can get from Joey.
Tumblr media
How can anyone be Team Dawson... it’s truly the most confusing anomaly. Freud wouldn’t be able to understand Team Dawsoners!!

This blockhead bitch makes me sick. Who needs enemies when you got an ex/best friend like Dawson. Someone that'd rather keep all of y'alls love lives hostage than admit he lost the girl. JOEY DOESN'T WANT YOU 🗣 If you're not going to respect your friends, at least repeat yourself bro.
