Like imagine her having Wyatt and Chris still (her beloved whitelighter children) and then say she still has Melinda and boom instead of the elders rewriting her DNA (which is HELLA messed up) oops she’s is a demon witch now. Leo would be all nice and stuff but you KNOW he seething on the inside. And you KNOW Zankou would love all those kids (esp Wyatt and Chris) with his whole heart and be extra sweet and sappy to rub it into their elder of a father’s face 😂😂

('Servitor', 'Blackhand' and 'Her Camera' are set in the wider world of Angora, a alternative world to ours with many similarities and some key divergences. It is not the only world in the larger meta-narrative 16^12 but definitely a major focus, explaining the rest of the "galaxy" can wait by far)

The Three Fandoms Asks

I keep seeing this around tumblr, and it looks fun. 

3 fandoms (I chose three important ones from my childhood)

1. Harry Potter - The Original Fandom. I mean, not the original original obviously, but probably the original for my generation. It was a huge part of my childhood and the story itself formed a lot of my opinions about how to tell good stories. I also have fond memories associated with this series -- Harry Potter was the first reason I ever had for Googling anything. “Harry Potter Book 5 news” and “Harry Potter Book 6 rumors” became frequent searches of mine. (The rumors took me to a lot of chat rooms where I read up on the wildest theories. It was a blast.) And then there were the midnight visits to Barnes and Noble and, in one memorable case, Walmart the nights of the book releases. Harry Potter was my childhood.

2. Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit - Like Harry Potter, these books (and movies) taught me a lot about storytelling. Tolkien’s works have become more complex to me as I’ve gotten older, and I’ve found there are plots and characters I like more now than I did as a kid (as opposed to Harry Potter, which my opinions about have mostly stayed the same). I also love Tolkien’s writing and world building. I’m one of the few people I know who enjoys reading all the poetry, and I read “The Council of Elrond” chapter three or four times before I got tired of it on Fellowship rereads. Lord of the Rings is a fantastic example of a really good book being adapted into really good movies. Both the book and the movies are each their own thing while also complementing each other. Just -- Lord of the Rings, man. I love it.

3. Charmed - Not as good, quality-wise, as the other two I’ll admit, but damn do I love this show. Before Charmed, I kind of watched whatever my family or friends watched -- my brother was a TV hog, and while I liked his cartoons ok, I didn’t like them nearly as much as I did Charmed when I discovered it. I got my dad watching it and it kind of became our thing. The Charmed Ones were kind of role models in a way. I can remember thinking, This is what being in my 20s will be like. Not the magic, but dating and clothes and deciding whether to go corporate or pursue your dream job or go back to school. People accuse the Charmed Ones of being boy crazy, but what I remember most about them is their work ethic. I thought, Prue prioritizes work, and I want to be like Prue. I love this show.

First character I loved:

1. Professor McGonagall is, has been and will always be my favorite character in anything ever. I also remember being small and redheaded and really liking Ginny Weasley before many other people did.  

2. Arwen was the first, but that was only because she appears in the movies before Eowyn.

3. Prue. Although I like all four sisters.

The character I never expected to love so much:

1. Sirius Black is obviously introduced as this terrifying villain, so when I started reading Prisoner of Azkaban, I didn’t expect him to become one of my favorites. To be honest, my fan girl love of him has waned since I was a teenager, but I still appreciate him.

2. Sam Gamgee. Another of my favorite characters in all of literature, though I had to mature a bit before I felt that way. But Sam is so small and overlooked, yet he’s so loyal, brave, determined, sassy and just all around good. He’s a gardener, which is a profession Tolkien holds in high esteem. Also in the books he doesn’t have that awkward break-up with Frodo that he does in the movie, plus he’s less whiny. (To be clear, I’m criticizing the movie’s writing, not Sean Astin’s performance. He did great especially considering the material he had to work with, and he feels the same way about the character I do. Also, his book about making the movies, There and Back Again, is the first nonfiction book I ever read for fun.)

3. Cole Turner. I came into the show in Season 4 right as his baby was turning Phoebe evil, so I was like, “Ah, ruler of Hell, not good.” My dad and I had to start the show over and watch Season 3 to realize he’s one of Charmed’s most complex characters.

The character I relate to the most: 

1. Probably Ginny, especially as a kid. We’re physically similar, but there’s also the temper and the fact that people always end up being surprised she’s as tough as she is. She and I also had to both grow out of self-esteem issues, though hers were more severe since they came from Chamber of Secrets-related trauma.

2. Pippin. He’s not sure if he’s actually qualified to be on that adventure, but hell if he’s being left behind. Also he’s small, like Ginny and me.

3. Prue. Sort of opposite of the Ginny stuff, she’s got the older sister syndrome of being responsible, in charge, bossy and often feeling like the only person who can get a job done right.(I don’t like having help with dishes or laundry, nor do I like assigning other reporters crime stories at work, as a couple of examples.) I am pretty protective of my younger brother and my mom always quoted It’s a Wonderful Life with the “you were born older” line when talking about me. Also like Prue, I tend to over-focus on work and not enough on my social life.

The character I’d slap: 

1. Percy. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a fabulously complex and underrated character, but I would still slap him silly.

2. Denethor. I used language I’d never used before in the theater when he sent Faramir off to fight in Return of the King and I started laughing a few minutes later when Gandalf knocked him out with his staff.

3. Ugh. Leo. (Also Sam.)

Three favorite characters in order of preference: 

1. McGonagall, Harry, Ginny. (That last one was insanely difficult as I also considered Snape, Lupin, Regulus and Luna.)

2. Sam, Eowyn then Aragorn (movies) and Bilbo (books).

3. Prue, Piper, Phoebe (Sorry Paige.)

Character I liked at first but don’t anymore: 

1. I mean, I’m not going to say I don’t like Hermione, because I definitely do, but the movies wore me out by over-glamming her to the detriment of Ron Ginny other characters.

2. I like all the characters except Denethor, who I never liked. Ditto Grima Wormtongue.

3. Believe it or not, I liked Leo when I was a kid. (*shakes head at how naive 13-year-old Iz was*)

Character I did not like at first but do now: 

1. Narcissa and Snape. This is not to say their views or the pro-Death Eater actions are ok, but they were both smart, they surprised me (always a plus) and they helped defeat Voldemort.

2. Didn’t like Boromir or Faramir at first, but now I love them.

3. Paige. 

Three OTPs:

1. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Lily/James

2. Arwen/Aragorn (in a doomed, tragic way. Seriously, read the Appendices.) Eowyn/Faramir and Linsdey Ellis got me liking Eowyn/Merry

3. Piper/Mark Chau (I will never be over it!), Paige/Henry, Phoebe/pretty much anyone, including but not limited to: Cole, baby Misha Collins (Eric Bragg) and Aviva from Season 1 (#Phoebeisbisexual).*

* I really just think that everyone Phoebe interacted with before Season 3 should have come back as a love interest after she and Cole divorced. Aviva would have been old enough for that by then, and we could have gotten great sub plots of Eric Bragg’s little conspiracy theory brain trying to figure out which secret organization the sisters work for before Phoebe tells him they’re witches. (Then he and Henry could meet for beers after work and talk about how goddamn weird their lives are.) Any of that would have been better than the post-Cole love interests Phoebe got. (One of them was named Leslie?? And he took her job?? Fuck Brad Kern, honestly.)

I decided to make this a Charmed ask, because why the heck not xDD

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

Leo/Piper. I don't think I've watched the same show most of the fandom did because are we forgetting he violated her mind? No, I am not letting go of this. And outside the "problematic" aspects, they were sooooo boring I am amazed I didn't fall asleep at most of their scenes.

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

Kyle Brody. He's my favourite male character in the show and his storyline with the Avatars was the most exciting and intriguing in the whole show, sns. I wish we got like...three season of Kyle and Paige vs the Avatars.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

The fact that they bought into the show's BS morality. At least from what I saw the few times I dipped my toe into the fandom waters. I mostly just reblog the gifs because I know I'll have no patience for any discourse with this show.

"CHARMED RETROSPECTIVE: The Death of Dr. Williamson"

"CHARMED RETROSPECTIVE: THE DEATH OF DR. WILLIAMSON" I just recently finished watching the Season Two episode from ”CHARMED” titled (2.20) "Astral Monkey" . There were some things that were said in this episode that really pissed me off. And all of my complaints centered around the character of Dr. Curtis Williamson.

Curtis Williamson had first appeared in an earlier Season Two episode called (2.12) "Awakened". In it, the second Charmed One sister, Piper Halliwell, became infected with a deadly disease called Arroyo Fever after eating some South American fruit she had purchased to serve at her club, P3. After her sisters (Prue and Phoebe) and later whitelighter Leo Wyatt had cured her by using magic, Williamson became obsessed in discovering the reason behind Piper’s miraculous recovery from a disease that had no cure. In "Astral Monkey", Williamson’s obsession not led him to continuously contact Piper by letter, but use the Halliwells’ blood drawn by the doctor in "Awakened" to experiment on a trio of monkeys kept in his lab. Eventually, the Halliwells and Leo learned about Dr. Williamson’s experiments after the monkey with Prue’s abilities managed to astral project into the manor. Piper, Prue and Phoebe went to the hospital to examine Dr. Williamson’s laboratory and Leo consulted with his superiors, the Elders, after they discovered that the Charmed Ones’ blood had been accidentally injected into Dr. Williamson and he ended up with their abilities. The following is what Leo had to say on the matter: Piper: So what's the bad news? Leo: Well, simply put, Dr. Williamson is cosmically screwed. He's got your powers in his mortal body. It took generations to prepare you for that, you can handle it, he can't. Mortal body? Once again, the audience are led to believe that the Halliwells are not mortals. And yet, the series has proven time and again that they were. This point was specifically made in the Season Three episode, (3.22) "All Hell Breaks Loose", when Piper died from a gunshot wound in the first timeline before the demon Tempus changed it on behalf of the Source and the whitelighter Elders. Returning back to the article's topic, the following comment made by Leo really pissed me off: Phoebe: Wait, are you saying that our powers are in our blood and he injected himself with it? Leo: That blood, yeah. See, the spell that you cast to cure Piper changed everything and now it's changing Dr. Williamson. See, your magic is meant for doing good but in the wrong person, somebody not ready for it, that need to do good things . . . Piper: Could go bad? Leo: Real bad. Piper, it's nobody's fault. Dr. Williamson chose his own path. This is not the consequence of anybody's actions except his own. Still, you have to find a way to stop him before things get worse. One, Leo had claimed that the spell Prue and Phoebe had used to cure Piper in "Awakened" was partly responsible for the Halliwells' abilities affecting Dr. Williamson . . . which makes no sense to me. But it got worse. Leo further claimed that none of them - Piper, Prue, Phoebe, and himself - were not responsible for Williamson’s abuse of their abilities and the latter’s effect upon him. Only Williamson was to blame. Leo . . . Let me take a deep breath, here. Showrunner Constance Burge and David Simkins, who wrote "Astral Monkey", really got the whitelighter’s character down pat in this episode. It seemed quite obvious – at least to me – that Leo’s feelings for Piper have constantly led him to spout stupid lies in order to placate any negative feelings she or her sisters might be experiencing. In "Astral Monkey", she felt guilty for failing to respond to his letters about her recovery from Arroyo Fever. She was also upset because he was a mortal that she and her sisters had to kill in order to save others. Not once did Piper feel upset that her act of greed in "Awakening" had led to this situation with Williamson. After listening to Leo’s attempt to solely blame Williamson over the entire incident, I still find it amazing how fans continue to condemn Brad Kern for some of the series' bad writing, when Burge was also responsible for the crap that popped up during her tenure as executive producer of "CHARMED". And I am condemning Burge for an act that Kern eventually committed with great consistency in the series’ future – namely give the Halliwells slack for some of their questionable actions? Yes, I am. Why? Because Burge did the same in regard to what happened in "Awakened and "Astral Monkey". I am quite certain that Curtis Williamson had been partially responsible for the violence he had committed in "Astral Monkey", while using the Halliwells' powers. After all, he became obsessed with finding the source of Piper's "miraculous" cure from Arroyo Fever in "Awakened". Even the hospital’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Jeffries, had warned him to allow the matter to drop. But the Halliwells and Leo should have accepted some of the blame over the entire situation. And Burge refused to allow this to happen in her script. Back in "Awakened", Prue and Phoebe used magic to cure Piper’s fever, when they should not have done so in the first place. After the pair reversed the spell and Piper fell ill for the second time, Leo stepped in and cured her . . . when he should not have done so. Because of Prue, Phoebe and Leo’s actions, Piper managed to avoid facing the consequences of her actions. And it was Piper who had started this whole mess in motion when she became greedy and decided to purchase South American fruit that had not been inspected by U.S. Customs. She had committed a Federal crime and did not pay any consequences, aside from P3 being shut down by health officials . . . for one day. One fucking day. It had been bad enough when Vivian and Valerie Mayhew’s script for "Awakened" had failed to allow Piper face any legal ramifications from the U.S. government for her act of greed. After all, the episode never mentioned any legal fines and as I had earlier pointed out, P3 had only been closed for a day . . . before Leo cured her. But in the story for "Astral Monkey", Constance Burge had failed to bring up all of the Halliwells and Leo’s past transgressions from the other episode. Instead, she decided to lay all of the blame on Williamson's shoulders. Prue and Phoebe did not even seem the worse for wear following Williamson's death at the end of the episode. As for Piper, she only felt guilty for not being able to save Williamson and for failing to respond to his letters in the first place. Not once did the episode’s script allow Piper to express any guilt for allowing her greed in "Awakened" to set everything in motion. For two episodes considered to among the best from Season Two by the series’ fans, I find it interesting that both managed to fill me with disgust from its portrayals of the main characters. Even worse, the only character who ended up facing consequences from questionable choices happened to be one portrayed by guest star Matthew Glave, who had portrayed Curtis Williamson. And I find it ironic that I have Constance Burge, and not the much maligned Brad Kern, to blame these particular travesties.

I really like the new poster. Much better than S1. And I love that Harry is included. The sisters are rightfully in place of prominence but Harry’s a big part of their little family too. Leo, at this point in the story, didn’t feel as integrated or as close to the sisters and I find it interesting that Harry has found his place with the Charmed Ones so fast.

Leo's role was minimal in season one. (Thank goodness we had one season without constantly having Piper whine about Nice Guy™ Leo. As you can tell, I'm not a Piper x Leo shipper but all power to those who do.)

Harry's role was more significant. Probably cause season one had about six seasons of material jammed into it. So they made the whitelighter more important earlier on.

Maybe it's the aromantic/asexual in me and at the risk of pissing off fans (but hey my opinion); Piper is really starting to annoy me. I'm getting tired of seeing her character revolve around her love woes of I 'love Dan and Leo. I don't want to be a witch it's the cause of all my problems'.

Like I get what they were trying to potray of how the Charmed Ones lives are constant demon vanquishing, danger, and death, but urrrrghhh enough with the love drama. The aromantic me can't take it. Can't Piper's story be about something more interesting than romantic love? >>

Hopefully, that she's back with Leo now, she won't be as whiny or her character just focued on 'love' and 'men' and not being 'single'. Cause oh yes, a woman being single and not having a date or man is the worst thing ever.

i finally watched the charmed reboot remake trailer and i’m utterly confused by one aspect (i have other issues with the whole thing but this one is stuck on my mind)

this show is supposedly all about representation and feminism, with WOC and LGBTQ lead characters. and yet....they need to be kidnapped and have their backstory explained to them by a white...male...character?

now i thought this dude was going to turn out to be a warlock/darklighter/demon who is trying to steal the girls’ powers. but according the wikipedia page he is actually their whitelighter. 

why does the whitelighter have to literally kidnap them? that does not make me feel good at all. the writers could not think of any other possible scenario to get the sisters and the whitelighter together than to have him literally put a bag over their heads and tie them up? REALLY?

and........why does he have to be an older white male? for me personally, that represents exactly the type of person that I DON’T want telling me who i am and what i am supposed to do. his presence in the trailer really irked me. they could have gone in any direction with the whitelighter and they chose “older white male”.... what?????? ugh.
