Why I Think What Damon Did TO Caroline Is Worse Then What Klaus Did To Elena

Warning: Talks of Rape, Abuse, Death, Killing, Blood

We know that Damon was using and abusing Caroline for weeks. He was compelling her, taking away her free will, raping her. 

Well Klaus did kill Jenna, Damon has killed just as many characters in the show, heck he’s probably killed more character’s then Klaus. And he nearly killed Jeremy to.

But as for what Klaus did to Elena herself, he did drink from her until she died, but Damon did worse to Caroline, he was constantly feeding from her, and probably took more blood from her in that time, then Klaus ever could take from Elena, even after he found out she could make hybrids. Plus, Klaus forced Elena, but he never compelled her. Personally I think compulsion is worse, you can’t fight back or struggle, your just locked in your own mind.

And my main argument, he frikin RAPED her. His switch was off, is NOT an excuse. It’s the same as saying, “Oh, he was drunk, so what he did wasn’t rape.” No, those were still HIS actions. Personally, I think Rape, is worse then death. Especially when it’s constantly going on for a long period of time, that leaves scars, becomes a part of a person, something they can’t forget.

Now, I’m not saying was happened to Elena didn’t suck, I just hate how the show tried to burry Caroline’s pain under a rug, and had the nerve to say they don’t support toxic relationships, when what the writer’s favorite character/fan-favorite character did, is swept under a rug, because they don’t want to add “rapist” to his profile. Caroline NEVER received a proper apology for that, which was the very LEAST she deserved. Like no, this is no one of those things you can say was just “dealt with with a silent nod - like we’re cool now”, just no. I get some people don’t like talking about their experiences with things like this, but Caroline deserved to at least have her pain acknowledged instead of being forced to be in the presence of her abuser. (Well Elena, was constantly protected, and shielded by everyone around her, I get that she was the female lead, but at least give the other characters a life outside of her!)

So yeah, I’m not trying to downsize Elena’s pain, I’m just saying in my personal opinion, what happened to Caroline was worse, and that it was never acknowledged, which I hate.

TVD Stans are so dismissive with Bonnies trauma. Why are you expecting her to show mercy to people who have done her wrong???? Then try to gaslight Bonnie stans into thinking that her actions in retaliation to people causing her trauma aren't justified. WHAT????

I finally gave up and saw TVD to understand some stuff in TO, and I just have to say: what an awfully written show. My goodness, how the hell is the most annoying girl in Mystic Falls the anchor who holds them together? Caroline, the fandom darling has no personality whatsoever. She's a camaleon, she's what they need her to be in the episode. Sometimes, she's the greatest soul alive, sometimes she's only there to slutshame another girl for doing exactly what she does. Sometimes she's pinning after her boyfriend, sometimes she backstabs him. Sometimes she's so repulsed by the 1000 year murder who bribes her with fancy things and sometimes she's okay to use the hell out of him to have what she needs. Elena, who's supposed to be the protagonist, becomes more and more the love interest to Damon. His love for her, that both recognize as toxic, comes from a sire bond and everyone insists to pretend that she loves him just the same without it as if she wasn't heavily projecting Stefan on him to the point he calls her out. The Originals, who were supposed to be invicible, the most insane of them just dies for a teenage hunter. Finn, the most sane one, portrait as a bore because he resented the bother who kept him in a coffin for thousands of years. Katherine, who I swear is one of the only two female characters really interesting in this show, is called a bitch all the time for the unforgivable crime of running from a psycho hybrid who wanted to slaughter her and then slaughtered her fucking family. Elijah and Rebekah does not exist outside of Klaus. Rebekah was just extremely annoying till they gave her a real personality and in the spin-off. Out of nowhere, she was obsessed with being human. Bonnie, poor Bonnie. The racism was blatantly showing. She was only there to be the magic negro trope. They didn't even allowed her to have romantic storyline! Her boyfriend who she resurrected cheats on her with a freaking ghost and she still back with him in season 5? She deserved so much better. Damon turns her mother in a vampire and then she's his best friend? She loses her entire family as well and is never treated with the same courtesy Elena has been treated. Not even the fancy balls she could attend, apparently. (Her wigs were also terrible. Poor Kat, they made her appear so old sometimes with those hairs).

And the romantic pairings? Awful. Damon and Elena were downright disgusting. He raped Caroline. Why everyone pretends he wasn't compelling her while having sex with her? Why all these centuries old man are so obsessed with fuck teenagers? How's that's romantic, date a girl on high school when you had two shares of a lifetime? Even if we take in consideration the lore that vampires stop aging when they're turned, the only couple who would make sense in this logic were Stefan and Elena, since Stefan was a teenager when turned. Klaus and Caroline had no romantic connection. She used him dry, he bite her to die to make a point to her boyfriend. He would be her last love but fucked her and left. She hated him but would happily accept his gifts while treating him like a dog. Damon and Elena loudly assume to each other that they are terrible together but then forget because they're fucking again. I swear to god, that relationship was pure based on their sex drive. She wanted that old dick so bad she blamed dead Katherine for the fact he killed her friend and threatened her brother.

The timeline made no sense. Plotholes all around. Why Bonnie couldn't make magic while being the anchor? Must be because she would be too powerful, and with Elena being so useless, they couldn't allow that. Caroline is another one completely useless for the plot. She could disappear from the show and wouldn't change a single thing.

It's really awful. After finally seeing this I can say with conviction that The Originals was the best they could have.

sometimes i just think about bonnie bennett

and how she was never intended to be black. her equivalent character in the vampire diaries novels is white and the only reason she’s black is that the producers of tvd told julie plec that she couldn’t have an all white cast. yet bonnie bennett is the embodiment of the magical negro trope, she’s probably one of the best examples of it in 21st century television. and it just makes me wonder what bonnie bennett would be like if she got the storyline julie plec would have given her had she been white. both joseph morgan and ian somerhalder argued for bonnie to get a romance plot with their characters. i personally would have liked a subplot of kol teaching bonnie magic in tvd season 3 and 4 perhaps with a romantic plot within it. but the symbolism of kol who was taught magic by ayana being the first person who teach bonnie since her grams died and teaching her all these ancient bennett spells from his childhood is something that i think just made so much sense for both their characters.

sometimes i just think about bonnie bennett and who she would be without julie plec’s racism.

oh and this is everyone’s reminder that stefan and damon had nothing to do with the confederacy in the vampire diaries novels they were just 500 year old dudes from italy. the whole mystic falls confederacy lore is entirely of julie plec’s own making.

Making Damon finally say "I love you" to Bonnie and adding "the same way Elena loved you" is one of the biggest betrayals and spit in the face in tv history.

I've seen (and loved) fics were Team Phantom band together and go on the run from the Guys in White. I don't think I've seen a fic were the families of Team Phantom band together and go on the run from the Guys in White.

Imagine it. The kids vanish and the next day the Guys in White are showing up at the door and bundling the parents into vans. The plan was to use them as hostages against their kids. They made three mistakes:

They threatened to harm them.

They promised to harm their children.

They put them together.

The Fentons, the Foleys and the Mansons promptly team up and escape. After that it's Team Parent vs the Government.

Optional characters include:

Ida Manson, assuming that the Guys in White didn't overlook her.

Jazz Fenton, if she isn't already on the run with Team Phantom.

Damon Gray, if Valerie is on the run with Team Phantom.

Their goals may vary depending on how much information they have (and what Team Phantom is up to) but includes at least some of the following:

Evading the Guys in White.

Finding their children.

Dismantling the Guys in White.

Figuring out what is going on with their children.

Leaving the country.

Protecting their children.

Getting the Federal Anti-Ecto Control Act revoked.

Although the real challenge might be cooperating long enough to succeed.

So i just seen a tiktok about Elena's necklace and of course the comments were filled with people arguing over it being a delena/stelena thing. And it just flared up this visceral rage I have for the amount of Retconning the show did when it comes to Stelena/Delena.

Like oh Stefan met her first, no wait Damond did. Oh 3x01 had an epic Stelena scene were see how strong their love is? Syke, this is where she fell in love with Damon. Not to mention all the constant "oh please look at what poor Damon went through, he just needs to be loved" crap.

And the whole doppleganger prophecy thing when it came to Stefan and Elena was really them trying to say "but look stelena wasn't real".

And i get Damons back story, i really do but it was obviously just shoe horned in at the last minute to make him look like a less shitty brother and not like stefan was doing all the heavy lifting in that relationship, which he obviously had been.

Even if I shipped DE them I would still be mad. Like why not give them their own symbol instead of a necklace Stefan gave to her? And what difference did her meeting him first make, like at all? She didnt even know him then.

Anyway it all just comes across as very lazy writing to me. Like they actually didn't actually know how to build up Delena so they just focused on tearing down Stelena.

one of klaus’ redeeming quality was how much he hated damon. he was always on that man’s neck. he treated him like the dirt on his shoes and i had to stan just because of that!!!!! like the amount of times damon would offer himself in place of stefan to be his ripper buddy and klaus would be so disgusted. it reminds me of how bonnie hated him in the earlier season. no one has ever hated damon like klaus and bonnie have. we had to stan the smartest tvd characters.

TDV Stans will state all the reasons why Bonnie was guarded around vampires in the early seasons, yet still say she was a weirdo, or a bitch for acting the way she did.

Them: "you know I get it, her grams died and vampires have done nothing but cause her trauma and despite being a 16/17 year old witch who’s been thrown into the supernatural world having to protect everyone whether she was forced to or not that still didn’t give her the right to be distant to Elena, the Salvatore's and act like a bitch to everyone".

Like UM HELLO grams just died. Excuse Bonnie TF out of her for not being in a cheerful kind of mood.

They sound like Caroline when she said Elena used to be fun before her parents died when they say stuff like that. make it make sense.

I've always wondered if Elena knew Damon raped Caroline. She knew they slept together, as she said it in season four, but it clearly seems she just thought it was that: sex, not rape.

I mean, I doubt Elena would break up with Damon over it (sadly) if she did/came to know about his sexual abuse because she forgave him for killing her own brother and in general the three shows were very adamant on pushing long-life friendships down to elevate toxic romances.

She did "Caroline jumped in bed with him" and it's just wrong, no matter how much you may dislike or like her character: if Elena had known about her being raped then her statement is just straight up disgusting.
