KINSHIP-4 Pt.1 Godkiller
The five mechs approached the massive drone superheavy with caution and trepidation. The thing was huge, standing on six thick crab legs with a large dome like turret on top of it.
Kinda looks like a Union class walking around…god how are we supposed to kill that with five mechs?
Anya shook the thought from her head. It was unhelpful at the moment, and she needed to focus.
“Ok…let's see how close we can get.” she said to the other members of the makeshift star.
“God this is a stupid fucking idea…” Billy grumbles over the comms.
“Well, we don’t have any better ideas, so here we are.” Victoria says. “Alright, come on.”
The five mechs began to move closer to the machine slowly making its way towards FOB Kinship. So far, it had not fired on them, seeming to not register their presence as it trundled through the suburbs and scattered buildings.
So far so good.
They were within 100 meters when Anya called them to a halt. There were some buildings nearby that could serve as cover if things went for the worst.
“Ok…remember the briefing, we’re aiming to take out guns, especially that big one. If we can also disable its movement, so much the better.”
“Roger.”
“Got it!”
“This is the worst fucking idea I ever-”
“Understood…”
Anya braced her Deva, trying her best to ignore the cramped cockpit.
Like being in a coffin…
She shook her head again, bringing up the targeting reticule of her ER PPCs and engaging the targeting computer. The lines of data that streamed across her view were foreign, but she understood enough to know what they meant. She brought the twin ER PPCs up and centered her aim at the barrel of a Gauss Rifle on the closest leg. With any luck, the weapon would detonate and damage further systems. Her companions all marked targets.
“Ok, on my command…” she said, hoping this worked.
For Savannah and everyone else counting on her…
“Fire!”
All five of the battlemechs opened fire, sending a torrent of PPC, Missile, Laser and Autocannon  fire into the advancing machine, blasts of energy and rippling explosions peppering the foremost leg, with some scoring the armor of the main gun housing as well. They fired for a full three minutes of sustained fire.
Anya braced herself, expecting the hail of fire, the searing death of the naval weapon mounted on the drone to erase her from existence, for…
…for nothing.
The drone trundled on, seemingly oblivious to the damage done by the attacks, which had savaged the guns on one leg, damaging the Gauss Rifle and Autocannon there, and judging by the warped and bent barrels, they were at least inoperable.
“It…worked…it worked!” she laughed, relief washing over her. “Ok, let’s keep going! Let's see what we can do against that main gun!”
The four cheers she received helped stifle the feeling of dread in her heart.

The only sign something was wrong was the LRM launchers opening like flowers.
“Oh f- get to cover!” Billy shouted over the comms. His warning saved their lives.
The drone opened fire with all available weapons, barring the Capital-Class SCL, as the drone determined they were within the minimal field for fire it had allotted to avoid damaging itself.
Lasers, gauss slugs, LB-X rounds and missiles all slammed into the already moving mechs, peeling or blasting away armor, and damaging structure and weapons in the few seconds it took them to find cover.
“Fuck! Everyone damage report, stat!” Anya yells to be heard over the drone’s thunderous response.
“Godkiller 2, took some nasty gauss slug hits to my torso, along with some AC rounds to my arms. Armor holding, just.” Victoria replies.
“Godkiller 3, down my left arm, and my legs are pretty bad off, but I can keep going.” Kei says. “And it’s hot.”
“Godkiller 5, of fucking course I ain’t alright, jesus girl what kinda dumb ass-” Billy begins.
“Cut the crap, Billy! Report status!” Anya snaps at him.
“Alright, alright! I’m shot to shit, down the armor on my left side practically all fucking over, and I’m gonna fucking die in a cockpit I can barely move in, sir!”
Anya bit back a reply. “Godkiller 4, report.”
Elenor does not respond.
“...Godkiller 4, come in.” she says, trying again.
“Hey Elenor, can you hear us?” Victoria asks, reaching out to tap the smaller, badly mauled mech with a hand.
Elenor’s Preta doesn’t respond. It’s hardly surprising, based on how it’s missing most of its armor, an arm, and looks an especially nasty hit to the gyro and center torso.
“...Elenor?” Kei asks, concern in her voice.
“...Godkiller 4, reporting…gyro’s hit…missing armor in 85% of…my mech…weapons systems down…” Elenor replies. She sounds…different.
“You ok, Elenor, you’re sounding kinda…fucky.” Billy adds, less than helpfully.
“...no. I am…not…” She coughs a bit. “...shrapnel…from the gyro or torso hit…cockpit breached…can’t…feel my legs…based on…location the lack of sensation starts…” she coughs some more, “...I suspect my spine has been severed above my hips…”
“Oh no…we…we need to get you out of here.” Victoria says.
“How? That damn thing will shred us if we try!” Billy shouts at her.
“Well we have to try damnit!” She replies.
“Both of you SHUT UP!” Anya shouts over both of them. She flicks the comms open.
“This is Godkiller 1 to CFRI Recon Elements 1-Beta and 2-Alpha, we are taking heavy fire from the drone and have one pilot critically wounded, requesting support! Copy!”
Another shower of LRMs peppers the area around them, blooms of fire erupting from the ground and buildings they have as cover, a number hitting the pinned mechs. Kei moves to shield Elenor’s ‘mech from the worst of it.
“Repeat, this is Godkiller 1 to CFRI Recon Elements 1-Beta and 2-Alpha, we need immediate support!”
The call for aid was responded to promptly, 2-Beta lance moving to intercept the drone at high speed. The lance commander of 2-Beta was banking on using their speed and the available cover to engage the drone in hit and run tactics, in order to draw its attention away from Godkiller. With a Thorn, Wasp, Stinger and Locust, it was a good strategy. In a normal combat encounter it would have likely worked, forcing the enemy pilot/s to choose between pushing the advantage against the Barghest Company mechs and letting the lights run free in their rear armor, or focus on the new threat, allowing the pinned mechs to make a break for it or engage a divided force.
The second the Thorn designated as 1-Beta-1 entered weapons range, the drone fired. It targeted the light mech with no fewer than three AC2’s, as well as a volley of LRM’s. The AC rounds smashed into the mech’s left torso simultaneously, stripping armor, staggering the light mech. Another salvo slamed into the same area as the first, punching through and into the internals, damaging the mech’s reactor. The pilot of 1-Beta-1 ejected as their mech died. They soon joined it, a LRM slamming into them before they even had a chance to deploy their shute.
The other members of 1-Beta picked up speed, aiming to get to cover before the drone could fire again. It was too late. At the first signs of additional targets, the Jericho had begun charging the Capital-Class SCL. The aperture that covered the massive weapon’s emitter slid open, and the targeting computer locked onto the desired target. The charge hit 100%, and the weapon fired.
A fat beam of blindingly white energy lanced out from the drone, spearing its target, the Locust 1-Beta-4. The beam sliced through armor, rupturing the fusion bottle in the Locust’s extralight 160-rating engine, resulting in a chained fusion detonation. The blast vaporized the Locust, and the ensuing fusion reaction engulfed 1-Beta-2 and 1-Beta-3. Both mechs were toppled by the shockwave, armor melted into slag and myomer burned to cinders by the miniature sun that had appeared for an instant next to them. Neither pilot survived.
The beam was only operational for several seconds, but in that time it had ignited anything flammable within 10 meters of the beam.
2-Alpha fared better. Forewarned by the sudden deaths of 1-Beta, they approached more cautiously. This and judicious use of cover allowed them to escape complete destruction. Even so, upon engaging, 2-Alpha-2 caught an LB-X10 Cluster round, blasting the arm off the Mongoose in a shower of sparks, armor, and myomer fibers. Thankfully the mech was in partial cover, so escaped further damage. The four mechs did what they could, missiles, lasers and autocannon rounds peppering the drone, but were unable to do more than snapshots from cover. They at least had the drone’s attention, and it had slackened the level of fire it was aiming at the other pinned mechs.
The pilot of 1-Alpha-1 opened the comm line as they ducked out and let off a blast of laser fire at the advancing drone.
“This is 1-Alpha-1 to Godkiller 1, we’ve engaged the drone. If you’re gonna go, you better do it now, we’ll keep it busy long as we can.”
“Come on, we have to go now!” Anya says, trying to ignore the panicked voices that filled the comms briefly. “They’re buying us some time!”
“Are you crazy?! That thing’ll cut us to ribbons!” Billy snaps back at her. “You heard what happened, we won’t survive five minutes let alone long enough to escape!”
Anya’s mind raced, he was right, but still, there had to be a way, there had to be-
“...I’ll do it…” Elenor says, quietly.
“What?”
“Do what?”
“...I’ll…buy you time…think it…hit one of my lungs too…”
Anya’s eyes went wide. Not again.
“Elenor, no, there has to be another way there-”
“...you won’t make it if I don’t…the drone…will cut you all down with 99% certainty…has to be me…” she says, weakly, but voice tinged with determination.
Elenor lurches her mech upright, and before anyone can respond, has rounded the corner, into the waiting jaws of the drone.
“ELENOR!”
Elenor’s mind was surprisingly clear. She had been worried the injuries would affect her thinking and piloting, but not really. The gyro hit took most of the credit for that.
Her Preta stumbled and staggered forward, into what she had correctly, it seems, assumed would be a partial dead zone due to the damage they inflicted earlier. Even so, the drone opens fire with lasers and what remaining guns can target her mech this close.
The beams of concentrated light and missiles tore at what remaining armor her mech had. She ignored it. She would make it. She’d run the calculations three times.
The remaining arm of her mech was shorn away in a shower of sparks and myomer fibers.
She was less than 20 meters when the leg on her mech failed, lanced through by a laser, and she began to fall.
Elenor calmly triggered her jump jets, and let the forward momentum do the rest, bracing as best she can in her current state.
70% chance I survive the impact…
…chance of survival of this course of action…0.01%.
The Preta was launched forward, twisting in mid air to clang off one of the drone’s legs, before skidding to a halt beneath the machine.
Her head was swimming, although she wasn’t sure if that was from blood loss or the impact.
She fumbled with her controls, flicking the comms open and as rapidly toggling the right channel as her blurring vision and uncoordinated fingers would allow.
There. She finally had the right channel.
“SLDF RAB Caber, this is…Godkiller 4, requesting immediate…artillery strike, my location…”she said, before coughing wetly. She could taste the blood now.
“This is Caber, Godkiller 4, we read you, designate target. We’re getting ECM interference your position.”
“…Godkiller 4 to…Caber…sending now…lock onto reactor signature for GM 270 Light Fusion engine…” she said, pausing to cough more, “...recommend…full barrage.”
“Roger that, Godkiller 4, dropping the hammer. Suggest immediate evac of area surrounding designated target.”
“…negative…” she coughs more “unable to evac…can’t move my legs…and will bleed out before I get picked up…”
“…Roger Godkiller 4…godspeed.”
The first shells impact the drone near dead center, causing the machine to rock and dip slightly, with one landing directly on the aperture for the SCL, sending showers of metal fragments this way and that. The rest of the barrage lasts for several minutes, cratering the ground around the drone and stripping armor from the great machine. In the chaos, smoke, and fire, four mechs slink away, leaving the fifth behind.
The rain of shells hammered down on the drone like the wrath of a vengeful god. It managed to move forward another block under the barrage, before it died. One shell found its way deep into the innards of the machine before detonating, setting off ammo bins and tearing apart myomer and circuitry. It came to a shuddering halt, spasming with internal detonations sending fire and metal spewing through rents in its armor. Its reactor ruptured. The drone's rudimentary artificial intelligence tried to reroute power, to keep going, somehow.
It failed. Full system shutdown occurred. The drone became so much immobile scrap in the suburbs of Coen, the only sounds the creaking of superheated metal and crackle of flames as myomer and plastics caught fire.
It was a victory, of a sort, but still left a bitter taste in Anya’s mouth as the group exited the engagement zone. The reactor signal of the drone was gone. Cold and dead...just like...
She punched the comms button to Kinship.
“...This is Godkiller 1 to Kinship, pulling back, drone dead, repeat, drone dead…all units badly damaged…one casualty…Godkiller 4. Returning to FOB for repair and rearmament.”

Coen City Suburbs
White Petal Medical Clinic
1.5 Hours Later
Dr. Elise Morrow pulled the cigarette from the pack and lit it, taking a long drag on it and blowing out the smoke. She stood on the step in front of the small clinic, surveying the smoke rising from the distance in both the city proper, and closer at hand.
It had been a hell of a day.
Ever since the first days of the war, since that was what this is, regardless of what either side said, she had more work than she had known what to do with. Minor injuries, people trying to stock up on medication, collateral damage…
She sighed heavily. She was so, so tired.
Once the evacuation had been ordered, most of the non critical patients had been moved, not that there were all that many, they weren’t a terribly large facility after all.
That just left a handful that weren’t stable enough, and any that came in. That had helped. What had decidedly not helped was most of her staff doing a runner at the first signs of actual combat in the area, despite Elise telling them that it was safer in a non-military target than out.
Taking another drag of her cigarette, she listened to the rumbling of distant combat, and watched the occasional flash of a skyward laser or PPC.
She was no stranger to this, war that is. She’d been through several.
Still…never got much easier…
“Doctor?” came a voice behind her, one of her remaining orderlies. “The patient is awake.”
Everything hurt. Which was good, and bad. Good, because it meant you were alive. Bad, because it hurt. Arms covered in bandages weakly moved to block the bright light coming from the ceiling lights, lightly jostling the IV bags next to the bed. It was hard to breath and there was an oxygen mask on their face, and their back and side were on fire with a deep, deep ache.
But, again, the pain was reassuring in a way. Can’t hurt if you’re dead.
Where…
“Ah, so you are awake.” came a voice from the door, a middle aged woman, hair going prematurely gray from life as a doctor, most likely, steps into the room.
The woman checks the chart at the foot of the bed, scrolling through the digital display for a few moments.
“And by the looks of it, everything went better than expected. You’re extremely lucky to be alive, you know? The shrapnel saved your life, ironically. If it hadn’t been white hot and partially cauterized your wounds…” she pauses, shaking her head.
“Sorry, old combat medic talking, I’m Dr. Elise Morrow. Is there anything you need?”
“...painkillers…and a radio…”
“Well, there’s a button for morphine next to you, dear, just don’t get too attached to it, we don’t have a lot right now, and after all the work I did putting your spine back together, you ODing would make me very upset. As for the radio…” Elise says, putting a hand on her hip, ”I’ll handle that, got your tags after all”
The doctor pulls a pair of dog tags from her pocket, before setting them down on the bedside table.
“...understood…”
“Glad we’re on the same page then, dear.” Elise says with a smile, resuming checking her chart.
“...how…did I get here?”
The doctor pauses in her checking of the chart again.
“Well, a couple “good samaritans”, looters or scavengers most likely, practically dropped you on our doorstep about an hour and a half ago. Pulled you out of what had once been a ‘mech. Like I said, if your wounds hadn’t been partially cauterized, you’d be a goner by now. And you got extremely lucky, your left lung was nicked rather than properly holed. Any more and without the mild cauterization, you’d have bought the farm.”
“The worst of it is your spine. I did what I could with a neuro/spinal bypass, but you’ll need someone with a proper full medical suite to actually fix it properly. The bypass is a quick and dirty method to get you somewhere better equipped. But for the moment…” she pauses, pulling a small device from her pocket, and gently prodding the toes of each of the patient's feet with it.
The patient’s eyes grow slightly wider when it registers they were able to feel that.
“...I think I did alright.” Elise says with a smile. “Also you’re going to be short of breath for a while, and there will be a weight in the left side of your chest. That’s the sealant foam. It’ll keep you from bleeding into your lungs at least until you see a proper, well equipped doctor, rather than an ex medic who knows how to keep you pumping air and walking until then. There’s also the stitches and staples, but again, same thing.”
“...I...thank you…”
“Don’t just yet. Like I said, have someone with a full suite take a look at you when you get back. I’ll go make that call now. You just rest for now.”
“...understood.”
“Good, if you need anything, it’s that red button there.” Elise says, before taking her leave to check the rest of her patients.
The patient lay there for a few moments, deep in thought. After a while, they gingerly reached over and picked the dog tags up off the table.
—-------------------------------- VON STRAUSS ELENOR 904372189 B POS AGNOSTIC —--------------------------------
Elenor stared at the dog tags for a while, before setting them down again.
She had heard once, a phrase that stuck with her.
“You can’t fight the math.”
She had believed it, for most of her relatively short life.
She wasn’t so sure now. Sometimes, it seems, you can fight the math.
Sometimes miracles happen.

Tumblr media
→ ⠀ AGATHA MORRIBLE is the only daughter of MADAME MORRIBLE. A sorceress just like her mother, Agatha has the gifts of ELEMENTAL MANIPULATION — Fire, Water, Ice, and Earth — and WEATHER MANIPULATION. She is also capable of CLAIRVOYANCE, and may occasionally receive messages about the future through vauge dreams and daytime visions.
→ ⠀ She is currently attending Shiz University for graduate level education in Sorcery and Art.
Tumblr media
━━━━┅━━ ⠀ ⠀ 004. ⠀ ⠀ HEADCANONS
Tumblr media
→ ⠀ ⠀ Despite the Wizard’s proximity to Agatha as a close family friend, she does not know that he has no real power. Whenever Agatha witnesses what she believes to be the wizard’s magic, it is really just her mother’s magic at work.
→ ⠀ ⠀ Agatha is the only student at Shiz whose popularity rivals G(a)linda’s, but she does not view Glinda as a rival at all. However, Agatha’s genuine friendships are actually few and far between; most individuals befriend her solely to gain the favor of Madame Morrible. As such, even though she can be considered popular, Agatha still occasionally feels outcasted.
→ ⠀ ⠀Once she became her mother’s teaching assistant and proved herself adept enough at her weather manipulation magicks, Agatha was given the duty of determining the daily weather forecast for Shiz University’s sprawling campus.
→ ⠀ ⠀ Although she has spent her entire life around animals due to being raised on Shiz University’s campus, Agatha is not immune to anti-animal prejudice. Madame Morrible — an expert at emotional manipulation — has ensured that Agatha, from a very young age, was subtly molded into sharing her mother’s prejudices. This is an unfortunate element of her psyche which she must learn to reject throughout the course of her narrative arc.

WICKED ⠀ ⠀(Canonical Timeline)
→ ⠀ ⠀ Agatha is a graduate student at Shiz University and works as a Teaching Assistant to her mother, Headmistress Morrible, for her sorcery classes.
WIZARDING WORLD ⠀ ⠀(Crossover Timeline)
→ ⠀ ⠀In a universe where Oz is a wizarding realm completely hidden from no-maj eyes by a carefully guarded veil of magic, Shiz University is invited by the British Ministry for Magic to compete in the Triwizard Tournament instead of Durmstrang. — 𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨 . . .
( muse f / 25 / cis woman / she/her/hers ) — did you see KELLY ACOSTA wandering around the island today? they kind of look like ANYA TAYLOR-JOY from certain angles? i heard around town that the TENNIS INSTRUCTOR is BRILLIANT, and INQUISITIVE, but also BLUNT, and PECULIAR. people say that they remind them of PURPLE WINE STAINS ON HER LIPS, A RECORD SCRATCH FOLLOWED BY “YOU’RE PROBABLY WONDERING HOW I GOT HERE”, and A LAYER OF PET HAIR COVERING HER CLUTTERED SEASIDE HOME, and RIBS by LORDE is definitely their theme song. they seem like a nice enough person, but we all know how hard it is to keep a pristine reputation in a small town. [ ! ] TRIGGER WARNING : MINOR CHILD NEGLECT, FAMILIAL DEATH (GRANDMOTHER), SUBSTANCE ABUSE
 001. a kings haven native born into a rather large family in 1997. has two older sisters and more cousins than she could name. kelly was a highly inquisitive child who was very much in her own head for as far back as anyone can remember. she was bright, thoughtful, and often left to her own devices as her family was not incredibly nurturing.
 002. both her parents and her sisters were all much like she was in the way that they were content doing their own thing. there was a strong emphasis on individuality in their family that led each of the sisters down different paths. though the family would convene at appropriate times, it was a rather bizarre way to grow up. there were no family game nights or sit down dinners at the table. the sisters didn’t often seek each other out unless they needed something from each other. the only real time the family would spend together was out on the water. they all loved to boat and would often be seen out on their boat whenever the weather was nice.
 003. this way of growing up led kelly to be independent from a young age. her parents would aid in her learning and care, but they would encourage her to find her own likes and dislikes, hobbies and extracurriculars, rather than suggest them at random to her. there was a peculiar awareness that kelly possessed from a young age that led her to be comfortable with her own presence. she would judge her parents’ behaviors and mannerisms, and deduced that they were simply eccentric people who loved each other deeply and were devoted to an atypical parenting style. so, kelly left them to it and learned to entertain herself.
 004. in her youth, kelly cycled through hobbies and activities. she had a natural talent for anything involving intellect or strategy. physical activities, however, challenged her. she had always been a petite girl with little coordination and athleticism; because of this, she had to work hard to become good at things like sports. both intellectual and physical hobbies had their benefits, and kelly began collecting interests. sometimes, she would dive entirely into something and master it quickly, then leave it behind forever. other times, like with chess and tennis, kelly would keep them around on the front lines for when her other fleeting hobbies bored her.
 005. kelly was viewed by others as strange in her adolescence. she was quiet around most people, and a bit standoffish. she had a strong presence and possessed no worries when interacting with others, though they were usually skeptical of her mannerisms. kelly was always the first in the class to hand in her test and never got in any trouble. she would only speak when she wanted to know something or felt definitively that something was worth saying. kelly did have a couple close friends, but she was more worried about her own little world than the one around her.
 006. as time went on, kelly matured in her thinking and awareness; she grew to understand her desires more. despite having an abnormal upbringing and personality, kelly grew to be fairly average as teenage girls go. she was intellectually gifted, yes, but she had crushes and uncertainties and even the occasional tantrum.
 007. she integrated into society with a sureness in herself that came from self exploration at an early age, but she felt as though she still had much to learn. kelly sought a stability that her home life didn’t provide, and attempted to bring about this security on her own. perhaps a routine? the big issue here is that kelly’s nature was to bounce around from thing to thing. she loved to try and discover new things. she was a wild card who always had something going on.
 008. when it came time to figure out what she wanted to do with her life, this became a big issue. she had a perfect gpa and plenty of extracurriculars on her record. recommendations were certainly no issue as every adult loved kelly’s quiet, insightful nature. her performance on the school’s tennis team was scholarship worthy. any college would be lucky to have her! if only any of her many hyperfixations had stuck.
 009. in an attempt to avoid her indecision, kelly decided she would take a gap year after she graduated from high school. when her grandmother got sick, kelly devoted her time to taking care of her. she moved in with her and learned a lot in the year it took before her grandma passed. grandma acosta was a strong woman with endless insight. since kelly had to spend large amounts of time with her on account of tending to her needs, she grew very comfortable with her. kelly’s guard was let down around her. to this day, kelly credits her grandma with shaping much of who she is an adult, all in the span of that one year. her grandma also led to her to dig into her father’s side of the family’s argentine roots. in their downtime, kelly’s grandmother would teach her spanish and hand over secret family recipes.
 010. to her surprise, grandma had left kelly with a moderate inheritance and that quaint little beach house that they had resided in together. kelly left much of the house the same, though she did soon begin filling it with animals. this house would act as the setting to much of her growing up.
 011. kelly really grew into herself around the age of 21. she became more bold and sociable. kelly had always been fearless, but she had a new confidence that attracted others. that gap year eventually turned into avoiding college as a whole, though she did consistently keep a job as an in-home dog trainer from ages 19-22. she had no certifications, but she produced great results and offered more modest pricing than those who had proper certifications. at the age of 22, kelly ended up taking a job as a tennis instructor and has stuck with this for three years now. she was able to invest her inheritance in a way that freed her up quite a lot for her hobbies.
 012. while working as a tennis instructor, kelly has collected a few comptia certifications (a+, network+, security+) and took to learning different coding languages, as well. she has an interest in cyber security and has tried her hand at hacking. she has grown to view this as a career she could be happy with if she ever finds herself needing more consistent work. as of now, she isn’t ready to commit to a full time job.
 013. kelly’s rebellious streak came a little late in life. curious about their effects, kelly cycled through various drugs and would often document her experiences through journals or painting. drug use is one habit that kelly has yet to break, though she doesn’t flit from the habitual use of one drug to the next anymore. she’s a bit more predictable now, sticking to nicotine, alcohol, anti-anxiety medication, and marijuana. occasionally, she will branch out if she’s at the club or in the presence of her rowdier friends. she is aware of her substance abuse issues but her know-it-all nature leads her to believe she knows how to “do it right” in order to avoid seriously harming herself. some nights, though, she takes it a little too far when she’s sick of her analytical thinking and feeling in control.
 014. meet kelly now… she’s a certified train wreck who wakes up on the loveseat most days half-dressed. she is slowly becoming dissatisfied with her life as she is running out of things to fill her time with, and new experiences just aren’t as exciting now that her brain is more developed and her emotions are a bit more stable. adulthood isn’t exactly becoming of her; she finds no comfort in the semblance of stability (the thing that she once desired the most) that she has built for herself. she hides her substance abuse and mental turmoil well. she would never let someone see a thing that she didn’t want them to see (except when she’s intoxicated… she’s a lot more human when she’s off her face).
[ ! ] TLDR : super gifted mensa IQ kid who had an typical childhood. she has a billion hobbies but her fickle nature led to her not knowing what she wanted to do with her life. so, she did drugs instead and is now wondering what happened to her adolescence. not a good adult but a very good time! she has many interests and is fairly sociable, so she’s an easy person to get along with
p e r s o n a l i t y —
 001. kelly is curious and analytical, to a fault. it’s consuming and second nature to her at this point. as a result, she loves to try new things and will go out of her way to do so. she is incredibly capable, but also an irresponsible train wreck. kelly is both stubborn and open-minded. she is somewhat of a know-it-all, but if you present her with proof of something, her mind will change without much challenge. despite a slight unreadiness to show it, kelly is incredibly empathetic. she credits her empathetic nature to her intelligence; she is able to infer based on mannerisms how others feel and relate that back to her own experiences with such feelings. her awareness of herself and others is high, much to her own detriment.
 002. many people think kelly is strange; she certainly can come off the wrong way and her lack of a filter can be off-putting. she simply isn’t afraid whatsoever to speak her mind and often won’t censor herself around people. if she wants to say something, she will. kelly is definitely a mastermind type, able to manipulate situations if she pleases and able to analyze many solutions to a problem. there is certainly no lack of motivation and energy with her. kelly was quiet as a child and can still be quite soft spoken. however, she has a strong presence and speaks with that strength, only speaking when there is something definitively worth saying.
 003. kelly is secretly a hopeless romantic. she has never had anything more than a fling with a tourist, and has watched as those around her fell in love. she wants to have a youthful whirlwind romance and subconsciously assigns meaning and connection to pretty much every interaction of hers but she’d never let you know that. she can come off as flirty, but that’s mostly from her bold and straightforward nature. kelly can be a lot to be around, but not necessarily in an unpleasant way (depending on who you are). she is a very hardworking person who will practice and practice something if she isn’t naturally good at it.

in-character task 004: interrogations.
when the team of investigators had arranged for anya to come in for questioning, it had immediately flipped a switch in her brain. it was almost primal, the sort of survival instinct you might see in an animal that had been backed up into a corner. and it wasn’t even the greer thing. it was just the knowledge that they were bound to find her an unsavoury character at best. a budding reverse engineer with both their disassembler and terminal open at the same time? a shifty, unreliable, chaotic figure. she was a born suspect. so they’d done what every innocent person would do. picked apart her laptop, switched out the hard drive and drilled a couple of holes in it to ensure its contents remained irretrievable. there’s nothing to do with greer on there, she tells herself, tossing the corrupted piece of metal in their waste bin. but you could never be too sure. and if the fbi were involved, surely it was only a matter of time before they started issuing warrants for devices they found of interest. and how stupid would it be, to get put on some government watchlist for stuff entirely unrelated to the missing girl at hand. it was best to be safe.
and maybe that’s why she’s made an effort. tied their hair back. brushed it. slicked a coat of mascara over her lashes and worn a shirt, in an effort to emulate something. to seem less like themselves.
she’s sat cross legged in a slightly itchy chair, staring mindlessly at a notice board. not really taking in anything. just wondering what they’d ask. what sort of things they were interested in. what sort of answers they’d be wanting. but more than anything, they were wondering what sort of information they thought anya would be able to provide.
the door grinds open with an excruciating scream. anya’s head perks up, and they watch the back of some dark-haired girl disappear down the long corridor.
“please, come in. charanya, right? we’re ready for you.” the voice of agent choi breaks the silence.
anya rises to their feet, brushing her sweaty palms against the fabric of her jeans. “call me anya, please.” are they exaggerating their accent? a little. maybe. but people trust english people, don’t they?
Tumblr media
the chair scrapes against the linoleum as she pulls it out, perching herself at the very edge before inching back into it. innocent people didn’t conduct themselves like they were waiting for an opportunity to run.
“thank you for coming,” agent choi says as he takes a seat opposite her, and if anya didn’t know better, they would have probably chalked it down as genuine. there’s a retort on the edge of her tongue, something about free will and choice and whatever, but she shallows the urge. shut up. shut up anya. be good, for once. keep your dumb fucking mouth shut. there’s a grand total of three agents in the room, and agent choi introduces them in turn: “i’m agent choi, and these are my colleagues -” a hand gestures in the direction of the stoic figure on his left “- agents brown, and -” the same hand moves fluidly to indicate the woman leaning against wall “- murray.” of course, the introductions are unnecessary. anya’s scoured all available public records on the trio since their involvement was disclosed to her. once again, they think to themselves, you’re behaving like a guilty person. you don’t need to know everything. but it didn’t hurt to know what you were up against.
“can you talk about your time capsule video? give us some context for the clip that was leaked?” agent choi clicks his pen as he talks.
anya just shrugs. “i’m not sure there’s much to say, if i’m being honest. i did it as a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing, i guess? but i stand by what i said - i think we’re all way too concerned with what other people think.” perhaps it will all be fine, if the rest of the questions are also softballs. they could get through this.
agent choi nods affirmatively, and anya’s gaze momentarily shifts in the direction of agent murray, trying to gage the most distant detective’s opinion of them. but there are no indicators. god, people were so difficult to read. particularly in a room lit solely by a dated fluorescent lamp.
"were you aware that greer morrison had submitted a video at the end of last year?”
“no.” she shakes her head. it’s true. they’d had no clue. but then again, she’d not known whether anyone else would bother submitting one either. “i didn’t even know i’d be doing one myself until about half an hour before the deadline. so it never came up in conversation.”
“had you ever heard of anything regarding THE NAIVE NEWCOMER using steroids?”
what a pivot. anya takes a moment to think. “maybe like ... the odd rumour? but i didn’t make much of it. it’s a college campus - less than half of the things people say are true. which i appreciate must make your jobs a lot more difficult. but people make things up all the time, you know?”
another nod from agent choi. something illegible is being scribbled on the notepad in front of agent brown. they suppress the urge to lean across to try and get a better view of what it says. be normal. act normal. keep a low profile. agent choi continues: “had greer brought up breaking up with him ever? or anything of the sort, like she did in her video?”
“not with me. greer and i, we were pretty surface level. i helped her out with some school stuff, and we’d talk, but it never went beyond .... classes and school events and stuff on tv. i don’t think i’d be her first point of call for advice on boy problems.”
“would you say there’s a particular reason for that?”
“lack of experience. lack of interest. take your pick.”
a brief moment of silence follows.
"what do you know a student named natalia vega? and her relationship with greer?"
“it’s a big school. i don’t really keep tabs on people.” a bold-faced lie. “i know she’s into theatre. not really my scene. but she’s nice. not the sort of person i’d imagine it’s worth your time looking into.” she pauses for a little bit, throat feeling both dry and constricted at the same time. “i don’t think i’d ever seen them ... engage in conversation. why, are you interested in her?”
“we’re just trying to establish greer’s network. to get a better understanding of what might have happened.” anya offers a noise meant to illustrate understanding in return. but they weren’t asking her about everyone, were they? they were asking about specifics. “how about rhiannon falla - and her relationship with greer?”
they bite back the urge to lie. of course, rhia being mentioned by name doesn’t necessarily mean she’s involved, but anya’s instinct has always been to act first and untangle the consequences later. had this been a less high-stakes situation, the immediate response would have probably been that they had no clue who rhia was. a lie that it would have taken all of two seconds and one instagram search to unravel. “we’re close.” it’s truth-adjacent, she thinks, without signifying that she would go to any great lengths to cover for rhia should the situation call for it. agent choi nods, and once again they catch agent brown writing something down. damn his horrible handwriting. and damn her curiosity. she’s trying hard not to fidget (and to appear like she’s not fighting the urge to fidget), trying to think of an appropriate answer. trying not to talk about the inherently exploitative nature of greer’s little project runway stint. “she really cared for her.”
“ we just have one final question for you - do you have any reason to believe THE GOLDEN GIRL would want to leave ogden college?”
anya thinks about this for a while. chews slightly at their bottom lip. “clearly she was wanting an exit from her relationship. but other than that, i don’t really know. i know that’s not super helpful, i’m sorry. but i’m trying not to speculate - whatever it is, i’m sure you’ll get to the bottom of it.” she smiles at them, taking great care not to make it too wide or bright.
“you’re good to go. but if you think of anything, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. we’re here to help.”
“ i will.” like fuck.
---
she’s back in her dorm when their phone buzzes. thinking it might be someone checking in on her in the aftermath of what had turned out to be a pretty tame interview, she reaches for it without precaution. it isn’t.
g: well, it looks like the cops sure trust you. let’s not get into the merits of whether or not they should, and instead let’s figure if i should. or if greer morrison should.  g: do you know of greer ever witnessing anything that she shouldn’t have? g: maybe having information that could hurt someone else? g: think about it. even try to figure it out. what you do with that info? well, i guess that’ll let us know if the cops were right for believing what you said.
perhaps it would have been better to blow the interview. go in, all guns blazing, and land herself as a possible suspect. at least the fbi had to do their fucking due diligence. supposedly. their fingers hover over the keyboard for a while, before ultimately deciding against it. whoever g was, they didn’t deserve a response.

@anya-snow where: the northern keep, dorne
perhaps it was expected, if not typical, for the men in the north to be finding the dornish heat utterly unbearable; it were as though it could pierce through his very skin, leaving brandon was a constant feeling of being uncomfortable. this was far too south for the north folk, and the last time they had ventured further down south, they had found themselves part of the biggest war in westerosi history; they were not supposed to be here. that, and the fact the high septon of all people had called for the gathering of the kingdoms in the newly opened princedom - as though the north itself were a kingdom that bowed to the same gods. they were not, and thus, brandon felt as though they should never have come here.
he wondered if sarra would have found herself excited at the prospect of venturing to such a different land - perhaps inwardly excited, not willing to break that icy composure of hers. the thought made him smile slightly, though it were sad, tainted; bittersweet.
still, he was hardly in the best graces with the king at this moment; sadness had slowly morphed to anger, fustration at the process of trying to bring those who were not subjects of the winter king to trial. they had every right to refuse venturing to winterfell for it to be done properly; they were not the subjects of the starks, they were wildlings - and so, when three weeks had passed without any sightings from the stark search parties, the ruling lord of karhold had enough. his move was reckless, impulsive; a world away from his usual steady, easygoing nature - whilst he regretted the frustration it had brought his king, his companion, he did not regret it himself.
Tumblr media
and so, when the king had made the reluctant decision to move south, brandon was ready and willing to join him, knowing the both of them probably had some concerns. he remained sat beneath a canopy of sorts, warm grey orbs fixed upon the piece of parchment his ink scratched across as he penned a letter to his brother. how long would a raven take to travel from dorne to the north, karhold specifically?
he felt a shadow pass over him, beneath the canopy of orange and lemon trees; only to look up and see a familiar face. it had been some months since they had last seen one another, before he ventured to the north to look for his sister; and yet, they had lost her all the same. much had changed in the time they had last seen one another, and he remained quiet for a moment, before moving further up the bench for her to join him if she so wished. "it snows in dorne?" he asked, a light jest that felt empty, yet natural.

“ ksyushka said i must give you a hug the very second i see you, ” she rolled her eyes but opened her arms anyway, squeezing her older cousin tightly before releasing her and placing the second coffee she’d brought into anya’s hands. “ walk with me ? i left katya with the nanny for a few hours so we can catch up. ”

❛ You’re kinda, sorta, basically, pretty much always on my mind. ❜ Okay but Genuine Modern Gleb on a day when he's not preoccupied with being a Meme
Tumblr media
“…Is that a confession I hear from you, Vaganov?” Her heart does a traitorous flip in her chest and her mouth is suddenly dry. Nonetheless, never one to give in without a fight, a playful smirk touches her lip. She leans across the bar, entirely aware she’s encroaching on his space, long hair falling in tendrils over her shoulder, barely brushing the counter. Friday night - not quite the first time she’s utilizing the bar aspect of his establishment, but still a rare weekend she has time to herself away from the duties expected of her at home. That she’s here, instead of out or asleep or any other number of things - speaks for itself, really. Her fingers dance slowly across the counter, just brushing his sleeve. Anya peers up at him with bright blue eyes full of mischief. “And here I was beginning to think you’d never profess your undying love for me.”
It’s half a joke and half - not. It’s closer to the truth than she’s maybe comfortable with and her heart is in her throat even as her expression softens, gaze dropping to the table. “Maybe,” she smiles, more to herself than anything, nudging his arm gently, absently, with a poke. “You’re kinda, sorta, basically pretty much always on my mind too.”

                     TASK ONE: CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
› 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react?
while athena claimed anya when she was born, she only had a relationship with the goddess for the first two years of her life, so she was never fully aware that she was a demigod. when anya was twelve, athena came back into her life. one night, she walked into her bedroom and there she was. there was something familiar about her even if anya had no recollection of meeting her, and while she could have freaked out that there was a stranger in her bedroom, she felt at ease. that is because anya and athena did know each other, for years anya had simply thought she had been a product of her imagination. however, athena was always there and while she didn’t show up, she was always taking care of her.
athena explained everything to her. it made no sense at first but the more she found out about being a demigod and godly parents, the more her life made sense. she was shocked to find out but eventually she accepted going to summer camp. convincing her mother was a different story, vika didn’t want to believe it despite that her ex-husband (and anya’s biological father) had told her. slowly but surely, vika understood that if she wanted to protect her daughter she would have to let her go.
› 002. how does your muse’s mortal family feel about them being a demigod?
liudvika vilkienė: vika is anya’s adoptive mother, although to anya she’s just mom. when vika found out she refused to believe that her daughter was athena’s child. given that she could never conceive children, anya’s arrival became her biggest blessing and the thought of sharing her daughter’s love with another woman was hard, let alone share it with a goddess. however, athena explained vika that anya had to go to summer camps and possibly go to eonia as well for her own safety. after anya encountered her first monster, vika finally accepted that anya had to leave for her own safeguard. she still doesn’t understand what it means to have a demigod for a child but she is very supportive and talks to anya almost every day.
nicholas hughes: anya’s biological father whom she doesn’t really know. athena gave anya to nicholas as a gift but he was married to vika at the time. the two agreed to take care of anya but before her first birthday he left and moved to the united states. she doesn’t know much about him except that he’s a famous cartographer and honestly anya doesn’t care about him. when athena told him that anya was his gift, he was shocked but he was so in love with athena that decided to keep anya, however, he wasn’t ready for fatherhood, especially raising a demigod.
tomas navickas: anya’s stepfather and her fatherly figure. he married her mother when she was six years old. tomas was the last one to find out about anya’s demigod status but surprisingly was the one that wasn’t shocked. he always knew that there was something special about anya, and this just confirmed his theories. he knows more about demigods than anya’s mom, and he tries his best to understand what anya is going through. overall, a supportive father.
› 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent?
anya was claimed at birth but she didn’t find she was a demigod until she was twelve.
› 004. did they attend a camp?
yes, anya attended summer camp since she was twelve. her first camp was in spain, she chose this camp because at the time she was learning spanish. there, she met iker bizcay who became her best friend. her experiences at camp were fun, but she often felt homesickness. she had never been away from her mother for more than a weekend, so the first summers it was very hard but having a close group of friends helped her. she mostly did camps in spain and france, but she also attended one in russia but she only stayed there one week before asking to transfer to her usual camp.
› 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests?
while she is athena’s daughter, anya has never been sent on a quest. it has taken a bit of time for her to realize that she should take combat classes more seriously but she still has no interest in fighting.
› 006. what’s their relationship with their godly parent?
she doesn’t get to see athena very often, but the two share a strong bond. anya knows that athena is always looking over her and that’s very comforting. when they get together, they usually talk about anya’s interests for athena is a very involved mother. she loves to talk about architecture with her and overall, athena is a supportive mother.
› 007. your muse’s favorite part about being a demigod?
honestly? the friends she’s made. however, she also likes having powers and she appreciates the skills she has. she loves learning languages and they come very easily to her, so she is happy about that. also she loves having half-siblings, she grew up as an only child but she always dreamed of having a sibling and now she has, so she tries to have a good relationship with all of them. having them makes her feel like she has a home here.
› 008. your muse’s least favorite part about being a demigod?
the thing she hates the most is the pressure that comes with being athena’s daughter. everyone expects her to always be perfect, or that’s the way she sees it. the fact that she is not into war is strange to people and she is tired of pretending that she likes to fight. also, anya is a perfectionist and that brings a lot of anxiety. she was diagnosed with ocd when she was fourteen and while she’s been in treatment, she still gets panic attacks very often, but this is something she tries to keep as a secret which only makes it harder to deal with.
› 009. what’s your muse’s weapon and battle proficiency?
while she is not into combat, she is very gifted which obviously comes from her being athena’s daughter. her favorite weapon is the crossbow, and she’s rather good at it but she wouldn’t like to use it on a real battle, although she knows that it could happen. anya also knows a ton about other guns but she lacks practice.
