Baby Shepherd - Part 7 - Jo Wilson x Shepherd!Sister!Reader
Summary: All of your siblings have children, now that Amelia and Link have Scout. After Jo spends some time with a baby left at Station 19, the two of you begin to think about adoption. Then patient Val Ashton is admitted with an abdominal pregnancy.
A/n: yes it took me over a year but I rewatched season 17 of Grey's Anatomy, cried a lot, and finished this.
"Hey, heard you caught an interesting case... well, a non-COVID case anyway."
Jo gave you a weak smile, thinking for a moment before she decided something.
"Come with me."
///
"This is Luna... she was growing on her mom's liver. Her mom is the patient you heard about." Jo explained, smiling softly as your eyes widened.
"She's so small... but she's a survivor." You stated, pausing as you realised.
"She can't see her mother, can she?" You already knew the answer, but you asked anyway, seeing how sad Jo looked.
"Val really wants to see her too."
"I'm going to go see Val..." You concluded, heading out of the NICU and across the hospital.
///
Everything had gone so quickly. One moment, your wife was trying to take Luna to see her mother before her surgery, and then, Luna's mother had coded. Jo ran the code for an hour, but you both knew she was gone. Val died never knowing her baby, never getting to hold her, or comfort her over more than a video call.
Luna's surgery went well, she was strong, but now she had lost her mother, and her father signed away his parental rights almost immediately. Jo had told you what he had texted to Val, a good luck and a baby emoji.
"She deserves parents who love her. Val loved her, even if her father didn't care that she existed... it sucks, when parents who love us get taken away so early..." you trailed off, the memories of your own father, or lack thereof, since he had died such a long time ago.
///
"Would you be mad at me if I quit surgery... and became an OB/GYN resident instead?" Jo enquired, rolling over in bed to face you, nuzzling into your bare shoulder.
"Well, it's not like Grey Sloan has a rubbish OB/GYN program, you'd get to work with Carina DeLuca... and you'd get to work with Addison, since I'm trying to persuade her to visit post-pandemic, if we ever get there. Plus, I think the residents were getting confused with the amount of Shepherds on the OR board... it wasn't as bad when Derek was here, since it was him and Amelia in neuro, and I was cardio. But now it's cardio, neuro and general surgery... now OB/GYN... like Nancy..."
Jo was silent for a moment as you trailed off, letting out a quiet hum before you spoke again.
"Yeah, Carina and Addison first, I think Nancy and Kathleen are still in shock over our wedding."
"Probably shocked to see you happy... but I love happy on you." Jo replied, grinning as you quickly leaned your head over to kiss her nose.
"I love how happy looks on you too... we're going to be okay. Even when everything sucks, you've got me, and you will always have me." Comforting your wife, you brought her hand up to your mouth to kiss, before she shifted so she could lean over and kiss you properly.
///
"DeLuca deserves a proper funeral. Not a memorial in a car park." Jo murmured, feeling you squeeze her hand as the two of you stood together, leaning into each other and trying to fight back tears as you listened to Andrew's residency application video. How he grew up stealing his older sister's game of Operation.
You were quiet during the drive back from the memorial, confusing your wife for a moment before you finally broke the silence.
"Can we- um... I want a game of Operation, at our place. For any children, doesn't have to be ours, since all my siblings have children... there's even one trying with medical school at the moment but, I-"
"Yes. I will order a game of Operation when we get home." Jo nodded, needing the joy and understanding where you were coming from immediately.
///
"How's Luna doing?" You enquired as Jo walked into the ER, making a beeline towards you as you waited for the incoming patient you were paged down to the ER for.
"She is a genius! She reacts to her name, even though Hayes doesn't seem to think so..." Jo replied, grinning at the thought of Luna, which made you smile in response.
"I'll go up to see her later- the traumas are here!"
///
"Hello, my darling wife, hello, Luna! How are we doing today?" Jo cheered, despite the fact that she was carrying OB/GYN textbooks in her arms, the scene of you stood with Luna in the NICU brightening her day.
"Well, Doctor Shepherd, Luna seems to be doing well according to Hayes, but Luna and I were having a nice chat about animals. I think she reacted when I talked about a giraffe!" you paused to glance down at Luna with a soft smile, "you talk to Bailey yet about OB?"
"Not yet. I know Webber gave me everything to say but... what do you want to watch for movie night tonight?" Jo chewed her lip, her gaze fully on Luna as you hummed.
"Madagascar?"
///
"So, Jo's changing from surgery to OB, hoping you could give her some tips, with your extensive extraordinary qualifications... we're... we're doing okay? Does Henry know how to play Operation?" you were sat by the window, looking out onto a world void of people until hands wrapped around your waist. Your wife's chin resting on your shoulder as you talked with Addison.
"Is that Addison? Can you ask her if I can ask her questions? Carina's going back to Italy for a month... she's getting married though so she's coming back!"
///
"Your mum was Val. We loved Val. You are Luna, and you have a family here. Every time I step into an OR, I think about your mum, and you, and my wife. My wife thinks about you too. Every movie night for a while now, there has been a giraffe. One day you'll get to watch those movies, Luna, I know it."
You smiled as you stood in the NICU doorway, listening to Jo talk to Luna, who smiled as she spoke to the baby girl.
///
Jo was much more tense after she met Luna's legal guardian assigned from CPS, then every time since seeing Carmen Delgato with Luna as each week went. As Hayes put it, social worker, not a parent.
"She deserves parents who love her, not a social worker who sees her as a box to tick on a list." You whispered, having snuck into the NICU to check up on Luna, not realising that Hayes had overheard.
"I'm surprised you two Shepherd haven't put the paperwork through to become her legal parents yet."
"My wife told me about how the social worker wasn't allowing that operation... we're working on it, had to get Jo's background check cleared, and they started looking at my family too. My dad was murdered before I was born, it traumatised my family... they're being thorough." You shrugged off the look on Hayes' face, keeping your gaze on Luna instead.
"All my siblings have children, Jo and I only really started thinking about children after Jo attached to this baby left at Station 19, but it was during DeLuca's memorial that I realised... anyway, we're fighting for Luna, and... we were going to move after the wedding but the pandemic... anyway, we're also looking at moving. Jo wanted to try get Link to foster until we can get the legal stuff sorted, but it's moving faster with both of us than it would if it was just Jo alone trying to get parental rights." You explained, letting out a sigh as Hayes nodded.
///
"Have you spoken to your sisters or your mother about Luna?"
"Nancy will probably try analyse her case, Kathleen will say we're not ready, Liz will be supportive, Amelia is struggling with Link and Scout. She adores them both but she's struggling. Addison is struggling with the pandemic because Jake just works on model trains, and Henry plays videogames at every waking hour. My mother... I think she was concerned at first but I think she worries we'll struggle without help... but there's a vaccine, and we're doctors who understand how to take care of Luna's needs. Besides, my sisters can get their updates from the rare Instagram photo of Luna's hand or foot or something... Luna's our daughter, I'm not listening to them talk about a baby negatively."
///
"Y/n! You're Amelia's sister! Do you know what ring she'd like?" Jo summoned you into a patient room where Luna was staying, revealing Link and three engagement rings.
"Uh... um... right, engagement ring for Amelia... why did you get three? You kept receipts right? You don't need three of them!" you pointed out, leaving Link to nod, closing the boxes and hurrying out after asking the two of you to wish him luck.
"Jo... I don't think Amelia will say yes."
"Oh poop! Merry Christmas everyone..." Jo murmured, her eyes full of panic as you sighed, nodding nervously.
///
You smiled as Jo paced around on the phone, thanking whoever was on the line informing you that the adoption of Luna had been approved.
"She tell you she sold her hospital shares yet?" You enquired, leaving Bailey to pause.
"What's with that face? Bad price?"
"I still have my shares but... it's more the person my wife sold her shares to..." You trailed off, smiling at how you referred to Jo as your wife, and accepting the kiss that Jo gave you as she sat on the picnic bench with you and Bailey.
"Maybe I should just let the person who bought them tell you..." Jo paused, turning the phone around as it began to ring with a video call.
"Miranda! Did you hear the good news?"
Bailey's face fell as Tom Koracick was revealed to now have shares in the ownership of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
"Shepherd. Tell me you didn't. I offered you both character references!" Bailey hissed, whilst Jo hurriedly hung up the call, and the two of you hurried away as Bailey glared.
///
"Welcome home... welcome home Luna, and my darling wife!" Jo smiled, looking around the apartment that was once Jackson's, but the two of you had purchased from him for your family to grow up in.
"I found the Operation game!" You declared with a grin, revealing the box as Jo rolled her eyes playfully.
"I thought you were looking for cutlery!"

For the concert asks: 13 and 24?
Ahh, thanks so much for asking, JoAnne! :'D
13. Have you ever had a backstage pass?
Um, hmmm...no? Well, wait, maybe...okay, well, there was that time where I had a VIP package/meet-and-greet and got to meet Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart (as much as I love this question, I unfortunately don't feel like rewriting it because I've already written about that experience!), and then, well, right before the pandemic, because I was a member of Thunderpussy's fanclub, "Club Pussy," through their app, my best friend and I got to go to The Showbox before the concert started and we got to meet 3/4 members of Thunderpussy! It was kind of endearing because the first member we talked to was the drummer, Lindsey Elias, and after we chatted briefly and she moved on, my best friend leaned toward me and said something to the effect of, "Okay, so...who was that?" and I was like *facepalm* "That was the drummer!!" and they were like "Oh shit, really? I had no idea. Oops." (They admitted to me then they weren't so great at remembering musicians' names and putting those names to faces.) So after that, I pointed out the other members and told my friend their names so they'd know and be prepared...and then when I finally got the chance to talk with my favorite member of Thunderpussy I was the unprepared one (she started talking to me pretty much as soon as I put a chip in my mouth, sigh 😞). But anyway...that was their little pre-New Year's Eve concert party that they offered to fanclub members if we gave them our name and anyone who'd be joining us, which is how we got in once we got there. So technically there wasn't any backstage pass involved, and we didn't get to meet them in any more of an intimate capacity than in the bar area of the venue before the show, but that was totally fine with me (although it was kind of awkward since I don't drink, and Thunderpussy weren't going to not drink but, meh, it was still fine). I don't need to meet my favorite bands, anyway, but when I have the fortunate opportunity to do so, I don't care if it's meeting them in the venue bar area or before a show for a brief meet-and-greet or at their merch table* or what - if the experience ends up being good (which, in the case of Heart and Thunderpussy, it was!!), I'll be grateful for even 30 seconds of their time to get to tell them how meaningful their music is. :')
24. Who is an artist you think everyone should experience live at least one?
Heeheehee, I was hoping someone would ask me this one! :D I'm gonna go with The Black Tones, first and foremost! They may be mostly known locally, but they deserve to be known by such a wider audience - their shows are SO MUCH FUCKING FUN EVERY SINGLE TIME! And I've seen them live 3 times now, and while during the third (and most reccent) time that I saw them I got the impression that they're afraid to bore their local fanbase, I would like to say right now that their shows could never be boring, which is why I'm happy to see them live again every time I possibly can! Everyone needs to see their live shows at least once (but then they'll probably want to see them more than once!). :'D

Second Chances - Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Assigned to take care of the recruiting paperwork for the new avengers, you didn't think you'd end up falling in love with the Sokovian witch. Or the one where you and Wanda make mistakes and stumble along the way until your second chance to be together.
Warnings: (+18) several mentions of smut, explicit content, mentions of abusive family environment, magical mind control (westview), implicit forms of gaslighting, mainly dom!wanda, strap on use, bad jokes, bordering on angst but happy ending. | Words: 7.024k
A/N-> That irma vep audio went viral (Want me back? Say it. I want you back. Say it again.) and I was dying to write something about it. There's no big lesson in this one, I just wanted to imagine Wanda asking us to beg. Anyways, here it is. Good reading!
General Masterlist | AO3 | Wattpad
--//--//--
Working for SWORD was easy and sometimes even boring.
It was okay though - Unlike your sister, you chose to stay. The space battlefield was more Carol's thing anyway, and the reports and ground missions were enough for you.
Or at least, that's what you convinced yourself. Carol didn't ask if you wanted to go with her.
All your peacefulness as an agent took a turn when Ultron went wrong, and a few weeks later, Nick Fury asked you for a favor.
After Shield, he had his confidence shaken in big companies. But he cared about Carol, and therefore, about you, too. Nick knew that the Avengers would be getting new recruits, and he wanted you to handle the paperwork.
After a long sigh, you said you would do it.
Rhodes and Wilson were easy to catalog, both military, so most of their information was already accounted into the database. It was the Synthesized and the witch the biggest complications.
For Vision, he was not a citizen, not even a human in the first place. You were having a tremendous headache registering him as anything other than a high-potential weapon not owned by Stark.
And for Wanda, well, her country had been destroyed. There was nowhere to ask for the records anymore.
"Sorry for so many forms." You asked on the fourth time you came to the tower, a folder now empty under your arm as you waited for Wanda to sign the pages you brought her. "I'm kind of doing all your civil registration again."
Her smile was short and barely reached her eyes. "Don't worry about it." She murmured back, the accent scratching her words.
You didn't care, you knew she was grieving for her brother. And maybe because of that, or maybe because you wanted a real smile, you tried:
"Hey, if you're not doing anything, we could have some coffee." The invitation flew out and you could hardly believe your own courage. Wanda frowned in surprise, her eyes going from the papers to you and you swallowed dryly, letting out a nervous laugh, "You know, as friends."
She smiled, reaffirming "Sure, as friends."
Anyway, four hours later she ended up in your bed.
Casual sex was nothing new for either of you. Back in Sokovia, it wasn't as if Wanda had had time to have an actual relationship, so all she knew was affairs that never led to anything more than nights of passion. And for you, with all the busy routine of being a SWORD agent, relationships were not really a priority.
But Wanda happened, and she was something else. Even if you never admitted it.
The bed made a loud noise as you came in one last hard thrust, Wanda's nails digging into your back as she followed you in her climax. Your face fell against her collarbone, and for a long moment, only your raspy mixed breaths sounded in the room.
She said nothing as you slipped out, the toy soaked with both your pleasures being moved out of your waist as you stood up. Wanda's gaze followed your back marked with red scratches as you reached for a shirt.
"Do they know?" She asked as soon as you put the item on, and your curious eyes met hers. She just settled herself better on the bed, not bothering to cover her breasts. "About your strength."
You let out a short laugh. "Fury knows." That's what you replied to her, sharing nothing more about the whole plot of keeping your abilities hidden from the rest of the world so that you wouldn't be treated like a weapon instead of a person. Carol didn't want that for you.
"Do you really have to go?" Wanda asked, this time reaching for the sheet because she suddenly felt very vulnerable. You swallowed dryly, keeping your gaze on the pants you were putting on.
"I have to, sorry." You retorted. "I shouldn't have even come, my boss would kill me if he knew I was doing well, this."
"Me, you mean?" She teases with an arched eyebrow, and you give another laugh with flushed cheeks.
"Yeah, it's kind of completely unprofessional." You mutter, now dressed and sitting down to put on your boots. Wanda is quiet, twiddling her fingers over her lap, and you only look at her again when you are fully dressed. "Hey, can I see you next week?"
Despite the bitterness in her stomach, she forces a smile. "Sure, when you have some new immigration forms for me." She mocks, but you don't catch her hidden annoyance, laughing lightly before leaning in and kissing her sensually.
Wanda hates the way her body betrays her. Her heart racing, her skin warming. She wants you to stay, forever if possible. But you get up and leave.
Just like all the other times.
Neither of you could have predicted that your fragile routine of casual encounters was threatened with the demise of the Avengers.
Of course, your position as a SWORD agent made it impossible to approach the escaped members without jeopardizing your own safety and exposure as an enhanced human, yet part of Wanda hoped you would choose her.
"I just can't, Wanda, I'm sorry." You whispered into the phone, unable to know about the tear-filled irises on the other end of the line.
Wanda just sighed, and in the same way that you hid that you couldn't leave your home now because Maria was getting sick and Monica needed you there, Wanda also didn't tell you that she missed you.
"You say that but I don't think you mean it." She retorted bitterly, and you sighed exhaustedly.
"Whatever, little witch."
"Exactly, Y/N. Whatever." She retorted and slammed down the phone to the corner motel she was hiding out at this week. Natasha, coming out of her own room, offered her a sympathetic look, but she sniffled and turned away.
You leaned your face against the wall outside the company building, taking a deep breath and controlling your tears before going back inside. Work never waited.
When Thanos happened, you couldn't breathe.
Maria was the only person you had told about Wanda, and although she was weak and debilitated from cancer and recent surgery, she held your hand while you cried.
Carol came back carrying the Iron Man ship.
She only had the courage to show up at the Rambeau Residence after Thanos was dead.
You waited in the kitchen for her to talk Maria to sleep and join you.
"How has she been holding up?" Your sister asked, and you let out a dry laugh, wiping a glass with the dishcloth.
"With cancer or losing Monica?"
Carol didn't smile. "Both."
"The answer is not well at all, Carol, what kind of question is that?" You accused angrily back, but met the blonde's tear-filled eyes and took a deep breath to control your hostility.
"Sorry." You muttered but she shook her head, taking a step forward.
"No, I'm sorry." She began seriously. "I left this planet to fix the mistakes I did while working on the side of the Kree, thinking the galaxy needed me more. But earth needed me. Maria did. You-"
"I'm fine." You cut her off with a tired sigh, tossing the cloth into the sink. "Seriously, Carol, spare me your ready-made speeches. We already have a captain here who likes them." You accused, not giving a damn about your sister's locked jaw. "There's no undoing it, Monica's gone and Maria's getting worse. If you want to do something right, at least say goodbye before you leave this time."
You say as you move to leave the kitchen. Carol sighs.
"I said goodbye last time." She murmurs. "You were just too young to remember."
You swallow dryly, but stop walking. You look at her over your shoulder.
"That says a lot about a person."
Carol sighs again and turns away. "I'm not going anywhere, Y/N." She says surprising you a little, "But I have a lot of work to do."
You frown. "What does that mean?"
Carol approaches you. "Maria needs someone. She's the only person I have left. I can't leave her."
You don't correct Carol. Not because she is not wrong, but because you understand what she is talking about. Your sister takes a deep breath and holds your hands.
"You're the only person I would trust to take over my job while I'm here." She confesses looking into your eyes. "I know you are strong enough to do it. I will take care of Maria. And the earth. And you-"
"Everything else." You complete, searching her eyes for any sign that she was joking. But Carol just stares at you, and you nod. "She told you, didn't she?"
Your sister gives you a sad smile. "I'm sorry, Y/N. She was pretty."
You let out a sad laugh, pulling your hand into your pocket.
"So, when do I start?"
Shortly after, you left earth. Four years in space should have been the most incredible experience of your entire life, but somehow your thoughts always returned to earth and a certain little witch.
You returned home a few times. To Maria's memorial was one of those. With her death, Carol could go back to work, but this time, you stayed by her side.
"Ow, when did you get so strong?" Your sister complained with a half-impressed huff, brushing the moon dust off her clothes as you threw her with the blow.
A soft laugh escaped your lips, and you shook your head. "Between high school and college. You missed me destroying half the gym."
"My bad." She muttered half-heartedly. You hadn't yet found the right balance in talking about Carol leaving for space but you were working on it.
The next moment she had to pause training because she got the alarm from the Avengers all the way back to earth.
"We have to go." She announced seriously, and you, already prepared to run to the spaceship, interrupted your walk when Carol shined behind you. "Code red, I should run. Meet you there?"
You nodded.
The battle was already over when you reached earth. Although you missed the fight, you were equally busy with the return of the blipped.
Having Monica back, and telling her alone about Maria because Carol had left the planet again, burdened with guilt at having lost Natasha and now with a buzzer that wouldn't stop ringing with the return of half the universe, kept you busy enough to use that as an excuse not to see Wanda.
You didn't know exactly what to say to her. It had nothing to do with finding out that she had moved on with a piece of tin.
When Wanda went to SWORD, not for you, but because of him, it didn't hurt one bit.
The Director wanted to convince you to go after her, to make sure she was under control, and your urge was to punch him in that sour face.
But you took a deep breath. You tried to remember Monica, and Maria, and all the protocols they had built together. This was her life's work, and you couldn't be disrespectful.
And as for Wanda, well, she clearly made her choice.
But less than a week later, Monica showed up in your new (or old) office.
"Can you believe Howard won't let me fly?" She declared annoyed and you took your eyes off the research report to your foster sister.
"Really? But you're practically a parakeet." You teased and she let out a soft grunt, grabbing one of the cushions from the sofa to throw in your face and making you laugh.
"Don't be mean." She demanded, moving to take the seat in front of you, and you chuckled softly before sighing, lowering your report, and resting your face in your hand. Monica looked at you curiously. "What's wrong?"
"You can't fly and I'm stuck behind this desk."
She frowned. "Why?"
You just leaned over to reach for a file on the other side of the table and pushed it over for your sister to read. Monica let out an incredulous exclamation as she finished.
"That's absurd!" She complained turning back to look at you. "Super strength doesn't make you dangerous! They're wasting your tactical potential! You would be useful in ground missions, especially approaches or damage control, not to mention you could ensure the safety of other agents and-"
Monica fell silent with her laughter. "Sorry, it's just... sometimes you sound so much like your mother." You say and she swallows dryly, lowering her head. You sigh. "I guess that's why she wanted you to be the director, not that asshole."
"Yeah, I'm not so sure." She murmurs surprising you a little.
"Why do you say that?"
Monica sighs. "The protocol that doesn't allow me to fly is hers." She confesses shrugging her shoulders. "I guess she didn't trust me as much as I thought she did."
"Hey, Mon, don't say that." You say reaching out your hand to reach for hers on the table. "I think Maria just wanted you not to make any risky decisions. Some time on earth, to get used to everything must be a good thing."
"If you say so." She retorted with a sigh, forcing a smile. "I should go. Duty calls."
You smiled as well. "Good luck." You said but before she left the room, you called out to her. "Pizza night on Friday?"
"I can't wait."
Monica didn't go. And she stopped answering your calls, and SWORD got all weird. You didn't wait for an answer.
"You are not allowed to be in that perimeter, Agent Danvers."
He was one of the special agents, but you pushed him so hard that he almost fell to the ground.
Howard appeared before the soldiers shot you.
"Where is my sister and what the hell is going on here?" You questioned impatiently, the man waving for the others to lower their weapons.
"It's good that you came agent, we can use your help with the Maximoff anomaly." You frowned immediately at the name, but Howard nodded toward one of the set-up tents. "Come inside, I will explain everything to you."
It's not the first time you witnessed Wanda being treated like a terrorist, but it sure hurts more to know that she's holding Monica hostage.
Still, it doesn't make sense. They must have missed something. Wanda wouldn't hurt anyone on purpose.
Your urge was to go into Hex and ask her, but of course, you weren't allowed to do it. Your only option, for now, was to watch the broadcast with Darcy and Jimmy.
"Man, I love this couple, aren't they so sweet?" Darcy asked with a bucket of popcorn in her lap. You crossed your arms with a frown, and Jimmy, busy agreeing, didn't notice. Darcy did but said nothing.
"I know it's a little weird, but I think they make a lovely pair."  Said the man and you sighed loudly.
"You don’t agree, Agent Danvers?" Darcy asked curiously, and you didn't even try to force a smile.
"She can do so much better." Was your bitter reply before you stood up, grumbling that you were going back to make reports.
Whatever the fantasy parameters were, you really didn't expect that Wanda was going to get pregnant.
"Twins? What a twist!" Darcy celebrated from your side, in another watching session. You shook your head in disbelief.
"How the hell did she get pregnant from a robot...?" You grumbled indignantly, and then grimaced. "Wait, that means they-god, I'm going to throw up."
You were cranky for the rest of the day. Not even Monica's return improved your mood.
And especially her descriptions of the Westview experience didn't help.
"She's shaken up, we should ask for a new statement about what happened when she wakes up. I'm sure Wanda-"
"Agent Danvers, I am beginning to worry about your ability to separate your professional vision from your affection for Miss Maximoff." Howard cuts in seriously and you swallow dryly, clutching your reports tightly. "I understand that you were responsible for enrolling Maximoff into the Avengers, but the heroes' time was over many years ago. She is a criminal now. She held your sister hostage, and she continues to do the same to an entire city. So, I ask you to kindly forget about the former person you knew and proceed with the official documentation of the reports Captain Rambeau provided about Westview."
You bit your tongue but nodded. A second later, you took a deep breath and said, "Yes, sir."
Howard left the tent to talk with the rest of the team, and you and you threw the reports in the trash can.
But apparently, Howard intended to keep you busy with the damn reports.
"You were not invited to this meeting, Agent Danvers." He approached you in the corridor, and you let out a short laugh.
"Excuse me?" You question indignantly. "My sister just returned, I am entitled-"
"I believe you have already abused your time in this facility indeed." He cuts in and you notice the agents coming out of their resting position and approaching you. "I allowed you to remain around for the period Monica was inside the anomaly out of respect for the relationship you had with her family, but Captain Rambeau is safe, and you are not cleared for ground missions."
You hesitate, indignant but uncertain about the whole thing.
"Sir, I'm not going to cause any trouble." You try and the soldiers stop behind him.
"Of course not, Miss Danvers." He says. "Your presence is not needed in this area, but we can put you in a different role where your skills will be better employed. Now that we know that Miss Maximoff is primarily responsible for Westview, an offensive approach must happen soon, and a superhuman will be useful in the fray."
"I would never-" But you bite your tongue. Howard raises his eyebrow at you, almost daring you to say you wouldn't hurt Wanda, but you sigh and swallow dryly. "All right, sir."
He smiles, waving to the soldiers. "Take her to section D-12."
Not long after, the guards drop you off in one of the tents farther away, with heavy machinery they make a point of putting you to work with. It's clearly something to keep you busy and not really important, and your irritation grows with every second there.
Night comes and with it the alarms of something leaving Hex.
You move faster than the agents beside you, and when you reach the commotion, all the air leaves your lungs at once.
"[...] You've taken an entire town hostage." You hear Howard's speech, pushing your way among the soldiers to the center.
"Well, I'm not the one with the guns, Director." Wanda's voice made you shudder, her speech made you smile short. God, she's such a prick.
"But you're the one in control." Monica interfered by stepping forward and this made Wanda trigger the magic. You reached out in time and held your sister by the forearm.
"No, I'll talk to her." You whispered and ignored Monica's expression to turn to Wanda. Her gaze flinched for only half a second.
"You finally had some time to show up?" She sneered, and you swallowed dryly, taking another step toward her.
"This is wrong, Wanda, what you're doing. You know it. You have to stop." You try, and her serious expression shatters for a second before she takes a deep breath and tenses her jaw. "Please, you need-"
"What I need is for you to leave." She interrupts seriously, her hand and eyes glowing red. "Take your friends with you, and no one has to get hurt."
You sigh. "I'm not going anywhere without you."
She chuckles humorlessly, her eyes filled with tears before she regains her composure. "That's a new one, coming from you."
But you don't hesitate, and you don't care about the audience. You take a step forward. "I made a mistake with us. I won't do it again. I'm not leaving you alone."
A few soldiers hesitate in curiosity, and whispers fill the atmosphere. Wanda tilts her head, studying your face.
"Do you want me back?" she asks, and you feel your face burn as well as all the stares at your back. "Say it."
Swallowing dryly, you hold her gaze. "Yes."
A smile plays on your lips. "Say it again."
You sigh deeply at the teasing, feeling shame burn through the presence of the audience. But Wanda is there, waiting for an answer. And you will not let her down.
"Please, Wanda, I want you back."
She lets out a breathless laugh, eyes glittering with mischief.
"God, I missed you begging." She teases last, and you lower your head, cheeks burning. Then she raises her hand, and scarlet magic is escaping to all the soldiers, the aiming laser leaving the witch and heading toward the director. Wanda meets your gaze, and you catch the invitation.
"Put down your weapons!" Howard shouts in desperation. "Agent Danvers, disarm them!" He pleads, but you are moving, following Wanda back inside the Hex like a puppy.
–//–
Miss Maximoff was your neighbor on the left. Hers, not yours.
Or was it the other way around?
It didn't matter.
What mattered was that she needed help with her boys sometimes, or needed someone to cut the grass, or help with the bags from the market.
Wanda was such a lovely lady, very beautiful, very kind. You didn't understand why her husband didn't stay around.
But you didn't ask, not when you were between her legs.
She squeezed you with her thighs, the grip on your hair strong enough to hurt and make you gasp against her intimacy. But the vibration only pushed Wanda from the edge, a moan turning into a whimper that she muffled on the couch cushion.
You don't remember how this started if it ever had a beginning. You don't remember much, really.
All that matters is that Wanda is your neighbor on the left and she needs help sometimes. And you are here to do so.
But sometimes, you feel a little itch in the back of your mind. Like when Wanda moans in your ear, or how she feels on your fingers and the sensation feels familiar in a way prior to Westview.
And then you push those thoughts away because there is nothing before Westview.
"Fuck, what a talented mouth you have, dorogoya." She praises you breathlessly with her back arched, your hands steady on her thighs as you lick what's left of her orgasm.  "Come here, give me a kiss before you go."
You almost complain but decide to obey. It's always like this, Wanda asks for help, you make her cum against the first surface you find, and she tells you to go home. You don't know why, but you have deja vu every time.
This time, however, as you exchange goodbye kisses on the couch, you remark: "It's Halloween tonight. Maybe, I could, I don't know-"
"Vision will be around." She cuts off taking away your excitement all at once, and you swallow dryly when her hands push you lightly. "In fact, he and Pietro should be back with the boys by now. You should go."
You sigh slightly but force a smile. "As you wish, Wanda." She smiles but doesn't reach her eyes, you don't question because she kisses you again before patting you on the shoulder signaling you to leave.
Since Wanda didn't want you around for family Halloween, you went home. And you stood there, waiting. And waiting.
It must have been very late at night when you felt you could move again, and you left the sofa and opened the front door.
Wanda was sitting on the steps of her own porch, and you had brought a coat, and it only made sense when you saw her costume.
You didn't ask anything at first, only moving to place the item on the teary-eyed woman hugging her knees, and then sitting down next to her.
"I am waiting for Vision." She confessed in a voice hoarse from crying, and you swallowed dryly, mimicking her posture of hugging your own legs. "But I don't think he wants to be around me."
You propped your face on your knee. "I don't understand."
She sniffles a little. "What?"
"How someone could not want to be around you."
"You didn't." She retorts, and you frown in confusion. You open your mouth to ask, but Wanda shakes her head, and in the next second, the doubt is gone. She forces a half-whiny smile, looking up at you. "Would you like to come in?"
You smile. "Always."
She led you back to her bedroom, but this time, she just needed someone to hold her to sleep.
"It's okay, I won't leave you alone." You whisper into her ear, and you don't understand why it only makes her cry harder against your collarbone.
In the morning, you leave before the twins wake up because you don't want to cause trouble.
–//–
Agatha can be a very unpleasant woman.
Or at least, her questions are.
She wants to know all about Wanda, about your arrival in town and is rather unhappy that you won't tell her anything.
Oddly resistant, she mutters before letting you go.
Things don't get better after that.
You are taken away from the tranquility of your home when a car is rammed into your living room a few hours or days later. Time was relative in Westview.
"What the fuck...?" Your shocked questioning is interrupted by Agatha, jumping on top of you with one hand covering your mouth.
One finger over her lips signaling for you to be quiet.
"Mind your business, little puppet." She whispered before she disappeared into the kitchen intact, and you, frowning in confusion, looked at the destruction. You saw, through the windows, a white figure approaching, and your stomach sank.
That was not Vision. You just knew.
And by the time you managed to get out of the house, the robot was lifting Wanda into the air and you had your confirmation.
She gasped in pain, but only for a brief moment, for by the time she blinked, you had released her, grabbing the machine as if it weighed nothing and throwing it so hard that it flew far almost enough to leave the Hex.
A second Vision flew toward him, but you turned to Wanda.
"Are you okay?"  You asked in desperation, but Wanda was pushing your hands away.
"My boys, you need-"
"I'll look after them." You cut her off with a forced smile, your hands returning to your cheeks. "But only if you promise to stay safe."
Wanda swallows dryly, her eyes filled with tears. "Y/N, there is something I need to tell you. I did something wrong, I should've-"
"Shh, it's okay." You interrupt her again, gently as you caress her skin. "Whatever it is, it can wait. I'm not going anywhere, Wands. Meet me later."
She sniffles, but nods and unlike all the other times, kisses you on the sidewalk without caring about the audience, or the possibility of her husband seeing you.
"Don't give up on me yet." She whispers against your lips, and you blink in confusion, but don't have time to ask because Wanda is pulling away.
You spin your feet to go in search of the little Maximoffs.
Tommy and Billy were as hard to handle as their mother.
"She asked me to keep you two safe, and bringing you into the middle of the fight is exactly disrespecting that." You stated seriously with your arms crossed in front of the bedroom door, and they both sighed in frustration.
But Billy stepped forward, a determined look in his eyes.
"Your head is noisy, Y/N. But you can't hear it can you?" He says and you frown in confusion. "Try." He insists. "Try to hear something besides my mother's voice."
At the boy's phrase, it's as if something clears in your mind all at once. You gasp away from the mental dominance, leaning both hands on one of the headboards.
When you start breathing normally again, you squeeze the wood hard enough to break, and the boys jump up startled.
"Stay behind me all the time, and do exactly what I tell you." You warn them with a raised finger. "If things get ugly, you will hide away from danger. Promise."
Billy and Tommy exchange glances. "Yes, ma'am."
You sigh before turning to lead the way.

Are you sure you want to delete the database?
Non-reversible action.
You pressed enter, and as the progress bar moved, you reached into your pocket for your lighter.
"You know that's a federal crime, right?" Monica's voice made you jump slightly, but then a small smile appeared on your lips. You tossed the lit item into the first box, and moved to the door, slipping an arm over your sister's shoulders as you led her out of what remained of the Westview facility.
"Yeah, add another one to the bill." You joke, but Monica shakes her head, a concerned look on her face.
"A lot of people would testify on your behalf, Y/N. Darcy, Jimmy, me." She tries, but you sigh, releasing her and forcing a reassuring smile.
"It wouldn't make much difference, Monica, you know that." You retort. "Howard broke some laws, but he was still the director of a federal agency. And a human being. I had no right to take his life."
"He shot children!"
"Who don't exist." You retort with a weak laugh. "What kind of a statement could I possibly give? About anything here." You say looking around with a sigh. "The ghost town, a dead robot, and fake children. A witch who disappeared. All the FBI and the rest of the people know is that Howard is dead and I murdered him. And that's the only truth that matters."
Monica swallows dryly, squeezing your arm. "You saved Tommy and Billy, that's the truth. That matters. To me. And it must matter to her too."
You bite the inside of your cheek, looking up at the sky for a moment. "Are you going already?"
Monica hesitates. "I wanted to ask you to come with me, but I think you have somewhere else to be."
You smile weakly, returning your gaze to the captain. "Say hi to Carol for me."
Monica smiles. "Say hi to Wanda." She retorts.
You hug again, for real this time, while everything that existed of SWORD in Westview burns behind you.
Wanda left town without saying goodbye. You understood. She felt ashamed for what she had done.
The last thing she asked you to do was to keep an eye on Agatha, and that should be the last defiance.
"I hate every second of your company." You recalled as Agatha led the way through the crowded, dark streets of some European city. "And I hope you know that if I didn't need your help to find her, I would have let you rot in Westview."
Agatha laughed, shaking her head. "You two deserve each other, I swear on Hecate." Murmured the witch, not taking any of your words to heart, knowing that you were only in a bad mood because she had woken you up before six in the morning, reminding you of the importance of leaving soon so as not to lose Wanda's traces. "I won't apologize for the time, Miss Danvers. If Wanda abuses the darkhold enough, there won't be anything left of the woman you know."
You bit the inside of your cheek, worry filling your chest.
You didn't complain again for the rest of the trip.
It took weeks after Westview for you to finally learn something about the Scarlet Witch's whereabouts.
Agatha got rooms at an inn somewhere in Republik Transien in southern Europe, and you were at a table in the back of the tavern while she made some kind of magic map and you had dinner.
"That's kind of cool." You muttered, and she raised an eyebrow at you.
"Was that a compliment, Miss Danvers?" She scoffed and you rolled your eyes.
"I take it back." You retort and she laughs before getting back to work. She mutters a few dialects in a language that sounds Celtic, and you steal a few glances at the shiny threads forming on the page. "Are you sure it will work?"
"Don't underestimate my magical abilities, Danvers. I was tracking demons before you were out of diapers." She retorted impatiently and you chuckled lightly, returning your attention to food.
It wasn't long before Agatha let out a soft exclamation, and turned the parchment towards you.
"See? I told you." Said the witch pointing to the map that had formed, a bright spot a few roads away. You frowned slightly, moving your hand to pick up your cell phone and open the google maps app. When you compared the two, you grimaced at Agatha.
"It says here there's nothing in that area, you old hag."
Agatha moved her fingers, and your cell phone went off, getting a loud exclamation from you.
"Your generation relies too much on computers. Things started to go wrong there, you know? People stopped trusting the land."
"God, you're so old." You mutter, and when you realized that the cell phone wasn't going to work again, you squeezed it to break and discard it. As soon as you left the broken item on the table to go back to eating, Agatha looked at you with curiosity.
"These abilities you have, Miss Danvers..."
"What about them?"
"Where do they come from?"
You finish chewing your potatoes before answering. "I'm not sure. My sister absorbed a core made from an infinity stone. But I've always been like that. Maybe that's why she didn't want me to be the same as her."
Agatha hums, resting her face on her hand. "I told you Wanda was a natural witch, yes?" She asks and you nod as you eat. "And that's the only reason she survived the contact with an infinity stone."
"If you say so." You mutter half uninterested in Agatha's riddles, moving your hand to grab some beer.
"If your sister can absorb that much power, perhaps, she was already special." Agatha then says, and you frown in surprise, looking at the witch, who just holds your gaze. "And indeed, because you are her sister, so are you."
"Look, Agatha, I don't know where my powers come from, but my parents were just two grumpy military people who spent more time fighting and drinking than taking care of their kids." You retorted half annoyed. "There was nothing special about our family. My mother died giving birth to me, and my older brother died in service, so Carol and I had to put up with our father's drinking and venting all his frustration on us. When Joe died, Dad got aggressive. One day he tried to hurt Carol, and this..." You held up a closed fist. "happened. I broke his arm, he sent me to live with an aunt. I didn't see Carol for four years until she graduated. I thought we'd be a family again when Dad died and I went to live with the Rambeau, but I barely had Carol back only to have her get involved in a secret war and get stolen off this planet. This strength just got me into trouble, so I kept it a secret. When Carol came back, she didn't even remember me." You recount, and take a deep breath to control your emotion, not wanting to cry in front of the witch. "Anyway, even without Carol, Maria and Monica were my family. I joined SWORD, and I did a good job, even without the super strength. I never needed it, and I never felt special. So, no, Agatha, I have no interest in this matter."
She sighed in defeat, nodding. "I'm sorry, Miss Danvers, for pressing it." She says sincerely. "We should both rest, it's been a long trip. See you tomorrow?"
You mimic her forced smile as you nod, and watch her leave the tavern.
It is late when you get back to your room, and your back is a little sore from the uncomfortable positions on the rides you have taken to get to this place.
You take a long shower, and put on your most comfortable clothes, wondering if you will be able to watch anything without falling asleep immediately.
The witch in the middle of your room makes your sleep vanish immediately.
"Jesus Christ!" You exclaim in fright, stumbling backward and turning on the bedside lamp as the woman takes her gaze from the window to you.
"I told you to keep Agatha in check. In Westview. And you find a way to free her and bring her to me. In which part did you get lost?"
You laugh, incredulous that the first thing Wanda does when she sees you is argue with you.
"Good to see you too, Maximoff." You sneer, but she presses her lips in a fine line, putting her hands in the pockets of her dress. You almost bite your lips at how absurdly beautiful Wanda looks.
"I asked you to stay away because it's the safest thing to do." She insists seriously. "For you, because you are important to me. For her, because she is untrustworthy."
"Owt, Am I important to you?" you tease and a smile plays on her lips, even as she rolls her eyes.
"Y/N, go home." She says more seriously. "Stop looking for me. Please."
But you step forward, and another, and another. "I thought I made it clear before, little witch. I'm not leaving you alone."
Wanda swallows dryly, shuddering a little when your hands touch her cheeks. You tilt your head gently.
"Y/N, I-"
"You're not really here, are you?" You cut her off, but your tone is more curious than angry, and Wanda suddenly feels almost embarrassed. "You feel different. Your skin. Your presence. It's like a whisper." You say, tracing her face with your fingers and gaze. "Are you real?"
Wanda sighs. "Just enough." That's what she says before she breaks the distance.
It's your turn to gasp. You've missed it with all your heart, and even though you feel the soft difference, as Wanda lets her hands roam your body, the arousal pushes the doubts away.
But she must know that if you feel her intimately, you will notice the difference immediately, noticing the astral projection and most likely becoming angry or rejecting her. So she pushes your shoulders back into the mattress, kissing you so hard while letting one of her hands wander down that you don't even have time to think about anything before you feel her fingers dancing inside your pajama pants.
Wanda is insatiable. She tears orgasm after orgasm, until you are whimpering into the pillow destroyed as half the bed, your body shuddering beneath her as three fingers are buried in your throbbing cunt.
"Baby, is that too much... fuck-" Just like that, she gets another, kissing your face as you spill into her fingers, a satisfied moan escaping her lips as she feels your walls squeezing her.
"I had forgotten how dangerously addictive you are, malysha" She whispered against your ear, her fingers teasing your overstimulated clit and making you whimper mixed with pain and pleasure. "I could never forget you, no matter how hard I tried."
You gasped a little away from the arousal, trying to find her face again. "I feel the same way, Wanda, you have no idea."
She gives a small smile, kissing you again, and you sigh softly, there is something missing but you don't know what it is, not even understanding how Wanda was there.
A moment later, Wanda's fingers slide out, and she watches you calm down from your orgasm until she is lying next to you.
"If you find me, there will be no turning back." She warns in a whisper, and you look at her curiously. "I won't let you go."
Your hands find her face, and you kiss her gently.
"I can say the same, Scarlet Witch." You assure her, and Wanda sighs faintly, smiling a little as you kiss her forehead, and move to embrace her.
You fall asleep, but when you wake up, the bed is empty, and there is another witch knocking outside. You don't mind, knowing that the next time you sleep in Wanda's bed, she will stay.
–//–
"I have made mistakes that I do not expect you to overlook."
Wanda says, many minutes after you and Agatha arrived, and the witches argued for long moments until the older one said she would be in Salem when Wanda needed her again. You waited for her on the balcony.
You knew she was talking not only about Westview but about the short time she kept you locked up over Hex's charm.
A soft sigh left your lips, and you smiled softly at her, turning and extending a hand.
"Hi." You say gently to the surprised woman. "I'm Y/N Danvers. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Y/N, what are you-"
"Let's start over, if that's what you need." You interrupt her meekly. "If leaving everything behind is what we need to make it work, so be it. I'm Y/N, and I'd love to take you out for coffee. As friends." You joke last, and Wanda chuckles lightly, her cheeks rosy.
She holds your hand, and shakes it. "I'm Wanda. I would love to have some coffee. Not as friends."
It is your turn to blush, and instead of letting go, you pull her hand until she entwines with you.
"You need to tell me how you did that whole visiting me from across the country thing." You murmur to her a moment later, managing a long laugh against your collarbone.
She releases you to start explaining "It's called Astral Projection..."

With the popularity of the first season of the Disney+ series "Loki," the series' showrunner and head writer Michael Waldron has become the latest star in the Marvel Studios' creative pool of talent.
Along with successfully delivering a layered arc to the God of Mischief over a six-episode season (with another on the horizon), he's also the screenwriter behind the upcoming MCU release "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" (and will write the pending "Star Wars" movie being produced by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige).
Waldron took a break from his busy schedule to look back on the first season of "Loki" with Insider and answer some of our most burning questions — like his thoughts on "selfcest," the challenges of fulfilling fan expectations, and how close we were to getting Loki sex.
Waldron says "many" season-one endings were considered.
The plan to do a second season of "Loki" didn't exist until far into the production of the first season. That led to some changes in the season one finale, Waldron said.
But he added that showing the evolution of the Loki character was always their guiding light.
"The show was always constructed to be a story on its own," he said. "The story of Loki starting out as a villain and going through this adventure that turns him into a hero in his own way, doing the right thing, but losing anyway — that was always the complete story we wanted to tell."
But the details within that story — the characters around Loki in his journey and who he would encounter at the end of it — were always changing, Waldron said.
To set up a tease for what would take place in season two (and let's face it, for a lot of the MCU properties going forward), Waldron and his team turned to introducing Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) in the finale.
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie's (Sophia Di Martino) encounter with Kang (aka, He Who Remains) results in Sylvie killing him and the "sacred timeline" going into shambles. It also presumably birthed more evil Kang variants.
Now Loki is back in the TVA but in a different timeline as Mobius (Owen Wilson) doesn't know who Loki is anymore.
It's a cliffhanger ending that has had fans of the show buzzing. But Waldron admitted it was one of many.
"There's many permutations of endings that exists over the course of the whole thing," he said. "But I'm not going to tell anybody about those." The "Loki" love-story arch has led to the term "selfcest" becoming popular; Waldron said he was just tying to tell an interesting story.
The internet went nuts when it became evident that Loki was falling for his variant, Sylvie. And with that, the term, "selfcest," aka having a relationship with an alternate version of yourself, entered the popular lexicon.
Waldron had a good laugh about the whole thing when Insider brought it up.
"Were we sitting in the writers' room saying we hope people are talking about selfcest? No. We weren't," Waldron said with a chuckle. "We told a story about a character falling for a variant of themselves. It's an interesting atypical type of story, and we knew that."
Waldron said he knew that, because of the passion people have for the Loki character, he was not going to satisfy everyone with what happens in the show.
That included inadvertently touching on the selfcest debate."As creators we have to pick a path and tell a story," he said. Waldron explained how close we were to seeing Loki have sex.
"I guess I'll set the record straight on that," Waldron said when asked about the reveal in Disney+'s behind-the-scenes special, "Assembled: The Making of Loki," that showed a writers' room whiteboard outline revealing they wanted to show Loki have sex, including with aliens.
"That was actually a breakdown, kind of a story circle breakdown for episode one," Waldron said.
One of the ideas they had was Loki would take the Infinity Stones from the TVA in the first episode and go out into the world and "make all his dreams come true," as Waldron put it.
"We were exploring if Loki escaped from the TVA in episode one with a handful of Infinity Stones would it have been compelling to watch him get out into the world and wield an Infinity gauntlet?" Waldron said.
"But we ultimately realized that it's kind of empty because he knows that the TVA exists and that's the greatest power in the universe."
So, although Loki sex was "briefly an idea," Waldron said, it was scrapped.
Instead, they went with the scene of Loki finding the stones at the TVA thrown to the side, and learning they are as worthless as a paperweight.
"We were able to execute that in a single shot just with Tom Hiddleston being an incredible actor," he said. Waldron is not scared of season two falling into the trap of fan service.
Though Waldron would not confirm to Insider that he will be involved with the show's second season, he did say that, despite the popularity of the show and the passion by its fans, it will not go out of its way to fulfill the wants of loyal viewers.
"Part of any creative team's job is trusting their own instincts, especially working in big IP projects like this," Waldron said. "That's what you have to do. You have to understand the parts of the expectations that are delicious and worth biting into and the parts where you're better off creating something totally new."
He continued: "Our philosophy on this was it's a time travel show about Loki, so people expected Loki influencing historical events — he's going to ride with Paul Revere. How can we turn that on its head as much as possible?"

In where Bucky and Sam, under very, very strong advice (aka everyone), visit a therapist to work through their....issues. Happy Winter Soldier Wednesday!
"Mr. Wilson, you wanted to address your first encounter with Mr. Barnes."
"Yeah I do!" Pointing at Bucky, "He...he jumped on the roof of my car! Just jumped on it! Then if that wasn't enough, he punched his metal arm of death through the roof!"
"Hey! You said you wouldn't say disparaging things about my arm anymore!"
"Am I wrong? You have to admit, the old one was kinda of murdery."
Bucky shrugs, "Maybe."
"Anyway, he reaches through the roof and pulls out Sitwell, like a sack of potatoes and tosses him! Just like that. No more Sitwell."
"Didn't you say he was getting on your nerves?"
"Yeah, but not enough to throw him across traffic Bucky!"
"Oh, my bad."
"Your what?!" Sam shrieks.
"Gentlemen", the therapist says calmly.
Bucky and Sam give their apologies, and Sam continues.
"As I was saying, he started shooting at us through the roof, so Steve put the gearshift in park, and sent Tin Man flying. It was kinda great."
"I did nail that landing though. Was pretty sweet."
Sam side eyes him. "Then next thing I know, we're getting rammed from behind.. on the highway while he over there, just stands there."
"You weren't hit that hard."
"We. were. on. the. freeway... and going pretty fast, mind you!"
Bucky sighs, "You're so dramatic." Crossing his arms, he leans back, grinning at Sam.
"Dram-, what!?" Turns to therapist, thumbing at Bucky, "You know what this fool did next?"
"Proceed Mr. Wilson."
"Well, his cronies.."
"Cronies? Haaa! Where you come up with that word?"
"Hey, those were your friends at the time. So yes, cronies. Anyways, their truck was pushing us towards him, who's just standin in the middle of the street, and he jumps on my roof, again! He then rips my steering wheel out of my car, while I was driving!" Narrowing his eyes, he looks over at Bucky.
Bucky rolls his eyes. "But did you die?"
"I can't stand you sometimes."
"What? I can't change it. Let's just say lesson learned."
"Oh, look at that, times up. I say this was a good session, seems Mr. Wilson you were able to express quite nicely your feelings about that, um incident. I'll see you both next week."
"Awesome! See ya later Doc." Bucky stands, grinning once again at Sam. "C'mon Feathers, let's say we get a slice, and you can talk more about your feelings."
"I hate you so much" Sam mutters as he stands to leave.
Bucky just cackles as he throws an arm around his shoulders, "Oh, Sam, you wish you could."

Who We Used To Be (Ray/Rose/Trevor)
Tumblr media
As told by myself and @thesevenumbrellas tag teaming the whump in the 18+ JatP discord. Sev I swear we operate on the same braincell levels, we do be clowning. @bobbywilsonsupremacy  let us know what you think of this! I know you and I both hardcore ship Raybse.
Cover was created by @thesevenumbrellas. Please don’t steal it.
This post got long so fair warning.
We wrote this in a discord server over the time span of hours so there’s some mistakes but i’m too lazy to go back and fix it all. Basically we tag teamed on a Raybse Trevor Wilson-centric whump story and can destroy a fandom with a single touch.
You’ll understand once you click the cut.
Don’t Steal Our Writing (but please reblog this to spread it around).
Trauma Time.
major whump warning
(Ren) Okay so if we're gonna be starting at 90's ot3 my children ray/bobby/Rose know that Ray is a panic bi and loves both of these humans very much with his whole ass heart.
(Ren) He takes pictures of his girlfriend and boyfriend while they’re on dates because he wants to capture the moments he was happy the most. Bobby always shed away from the camera burying his face in Rose's shoulder or leaning in for a kiss. Anyways as time goes by Ray notices Bobby's change in behavior. From being his go-happy-trauma boyf to being caught up in the music scene, often out at all hours to parties and label meetings only to come to to sleep on the couch, not even sharing the bed like he used to. It reminds Ray of the time when Bobby was grieving his boys. Ray hates it, but he loves bobby so he pushes his feelings aside to try and arrange more dates for the three of them to go on together.
(Sev) Ray waking up to only Rose in the bed and not Bobby, and it feels too cold in bed without him. So he'll try to call him, because it's 3am and he's supposed to be home and he's not. And Ray remembers what happened to Bobby's bandmates, and he can't admit it out loud but he's worried. Because what if that happens to Bobby? He knows it was a freak accident! What are the odds of it happening again?? But he can't shake that feeling when Bobby doesn't come home at night and Ray stays up all night worrying. Anyway he tries to call Bobby and Bobby doesn't answer. He'll leave loads of voicemails, trying not to be pushy because he knows Bobby doesn't respond well to that. But he's worried. He'll say "hey please call me when you get this." and then ten minutes later try again "hey just text me that you're safe okay?" He can't sleep because Bobby still isn't home. It's 5am. He has to go to work in two hours. Rose keeps telling him to go to bed but he can't.[2:58 PM]Bobby finally texts back. "I'm okay! Was playing with some friends, the gig went over time and then we went to  party." Ray wants to be angry because seriously? No phone calls because he was at a party? But he knows that'll just push Bobby away more!
(Ren) And so Ray has all of these festering emotions that boil down to worry and concern at the core but he's just so scared hes losing Bobby cause he never really had his own family to begin with and then one day when Ray comes home early from a photoshoot he can hear Bobby and Rose fighting over Bobby signing the contract that says he wrote Luke's songs but Ray just hears yelling before he even opens the door with his name thrown into the mix and then he gets even more scared because what if he loses Rose and Bobby? if he lost both of them he'd be destroyed. So he doesnt knock. He doesnt go home. Instead he walks around the city until he was supposed to go home originally and he opens the door and there's a sort of eerie silence in the air.
(Sev) Trevor’s unable to shake the feeling that something terrible will happen to Rose and Ray because he's with them. His entire family were killed in 1 night because he wasn't there with them. So at first he's clingy as fuck to Rose and Ray because what if something bad happens when he's not there? What if what if what if... But as time goes on the thinking flips. Maybe it's the music industry that's the problem. It's these weird connections in his head of if he's too successful, bad things might happen. But he can't quit music like that, he can't give up on Luke's dream. He owes his boys to become successful. So instead he distances himself from Rose and Ray. That way they won't be caught up in whatever bad thing is going to happen to him. He distances himself and he waits for it all to drop. He waits for the universe to punish him again.
(Ren) And the universe punishes Bobby when the tension between him and Rose tightens so much he knows there's no going back from it but he's not admitting to stealing the songs because he didn't. He helped Luke write all of the songs more than Alex and Reggie ever did, staying up late with Luke after fights with his mom and Bobby didn’t want Luke to be alone so yeah, he wrote the songs. Maybe not as much as he claimed but he sure as hell made sure his brother wasn’t alone so that counted for something right? And it did. Until Rose kicks him out of bed because she's pissed he'd even consider stealing music and he cant tell Ray because of the NDA the label got him to sign at a party when he was drunk and the only reason Rose knows about it is because she was there when he signed the damn thing and so Bobby pulls away from Ray because isnt it going to be easier in the long run? If he doesn’t attach himself to Ray who'll just get angry at him like Rose did?
(Sev) It's the guilt that grows inside of him every passing day. They're my songs too he tells himself over and over again. But during the dark nights, three glasses of whisky in when the world is getting hazy... even he can't believe the lies he tells himself. He fucked up Sunset Curve. He fucked up his friends' memories. And now he fucked up the only good thing he'd ever had. Ray texts him nonstop. He doesn't understand why Rose kicked Bobby out and he doesn't understand why Bobby listened. Bobby can't take Ray away from Rose. He's fucked up and a terrible person, but even he can't do that. He doesn't give Ray his new address. He refuses to meet up even for Ray to give him his stuff back. All Bobby can do is hold onto Ray's sweatshirt he stole away and a bottle of perfume the same brand Rose always wears. He cradles these things in his arms and cries.
(Ren) And that's the last he sees of Ray for all of 5 years, 20yr old puppy-dog eyed loving precious ray who Bobby would run to the second Rose says its okay. But rose never does. And then Bobby meets a cute blonde and six months later the barista shows up on his doorstep shoving Carrie into his arms calling her a bastard child. Carrie is not a bastard child Carrie is his and he loves her the second he sets eyes on her and so Bobby turns into Trevor when the new year rolls around and he starts his own album. It doesn’t do as well as Luke's his first album did but it was his. And then one day Trevor signs Carrie up for dance because Trisha from first grade made fun of her for not being able to do the splits and on the way out of the dance studio Trevor bumps into Ray, a terrified looking girl clutched to his leg. Carrie doesn't miss a beat. "Hi! I'm Carrie let's be friends!" and Carrie drags Ray's daughter off and Trevor shifts awkwardly and is suddenly 17 again but Ray's eyes still twinkle like the did when they were kids and he's still wearing eyeliner so Trevor almost missed it when a flicker of recognition crosses Ray’s face and a smile quirks at the corners of his lips and he says, "hi im Ray, thats my daughter Julie. Wanna go out for a drink?" With that same mischievous glint in his eye that made Bobby fall in love with him in the first place.
(Sev) Trevor almost stops breathing. He should say no. He knows he should say no. He's an awful person. He doesn't deserve someone like Ray. He never deserved either of them. He knows that. But can't force himself to say no. Maybe it's the twinkle in Ray's eyes. Maybe it's the soul crushing loneliness he's felt ever since he left them. Or maybe it's the way Carrie and Julie are giggling in the corner like they've known each other all their lives. He says yes. The drink ends up at a family friendly restaurant with both the girls in tow.
(Ren) Rose shows up because Ray the asshole apparently texted her while he was in the car saying he met one of Julie's friend's parents and wanted to go out on a date (keeping things pg ofc) aklsdf. And when Rose does show up Trevor sees how... sick she looks. How much paler she looked than she did all those years ago how - he still knew he loved her even if she still decided she hated him.
(Sev) The mood drops quickly. Trevor wants to ask about Rose, but not in front of the kids. Ray wants to ask about their past, but not in front of the kids. Rose... Rose who holds all the answers... doesn't know where to start first. She had never regretted not telling Ray the truth. She never wanted to change Ray's perception of Bobby like that. Ray who looked at their boyfriend as if he'd hung the moon. Ray who stayed up worrying all night until Bobby came home. Ray who held Bobby through countless nightmares... But that makes the truth staring them in the face so much harder. Because she never gave Ray the choice. She realized that a few years too late after she catches Ray staring at old pictures of Bobby in their photo albums. She'd made the choice for him. And then there's Trevor... still beautiful, staring at her with so much concern her heart breaks all over again.
(Ren) The tension doesn't fly over Carrie's head like he hoped it would, she talks to Julie about My Little Pony and Pokemon and High School Musical and their mutual hatred for Trisha from school but Carrie's hand never lets go of his and he finally plucks up the courage and stretches his arm out and says "we're vegetarian for the most part, hope that's okay." And a smile quirks at the corner of her lips and she asks "for the most part?" and Trevor nods and Carrie pipes up from her seat saying "daddy hates hot dogs,” in that blatant fact kind of way kids say things without realizing how problematic it could be. It wasn’t her fault though, Trevor has yet to tell her about her uncles, about how he was in a band, about how they were going to be legends.
(Sev) Rose and Ray both freeze at Carrie's voice. He doesn't know if the girls notice, because he's too busy trying to fight back the panic in his throat. It's been a long time since anyone had brought up ... what happened. It's easy to pretend it didn't happen when his name is Trevor and no one knows him. But these two people know him. They know him more than anyone else ever has. Even the boys. The truth hits him hard at that moment. A truth he'd been avoiding for almost two decades. Ray and Rose know him better than even he knew himself. Maybe that was why Rose had been so furious with him, or why Ray continued to chase after him even months after he moved out. Trevor hides the building panic and sudden realization with a smile. "What an I say," he said as causally as he can. "I'm a picky eater." A few hours later they end up back at the Molina's house. Bobby has no idea how it happened. -No, Trevor has no idea how it happened, he scolds himself. He's Trevor. He has to be Trevor. Trevor got him this far, Trevor made the difficult choices. Bobby was the one who got his friends kill and destroyed the best relationship he ever had. Still, it becomes harder and harder to remind himself of that. To stop himself from slipping into the comfortable shoes of Bobby, boyfriend of Ray and Rose as if the past 17 years had never happened. He finds himself on their sofa, a sofa that brings back memories both good and bad... he finds himself in a familiar home, his old studio just a short walk away, his ex's giggling in the kitchen as they make his coffee the way he's always liked it without asking for a reminder.
(Ren) Trevor can remember the day he stopped drinking the coffee Ray made for him, the morning after his first fight with Rose, when he wakes up cold because Rose basically cocooned herself around Ray's body, keeping her back turned to him and as much as he wanted to reach out to Ray, to hug him and comfort him and tell him it was all going to be okay... everything was too stuffy and too tense and deciding he just had to leave because he was going to suffocate otherwise.
(Sev) He should leave, just like last time. What was he even doing here? He should take Carrie and- Then Ray's in front of him, pushing a hot cup into is hands. "The girls are playing upstairs," he says. His voice is so calm, so understanding. "We don't have to talk if you don't want to." Trevor almost laughs. Because that's so like Ray. Almost a decade without answers and he's giving Trevor the option to ignore it all. To pretend like nothing ever happened. But he can't be that selfish again. So he shakes his head. "I'd... like to talk to you... to both of you."
(Ren) And then suddenly rose is eyeing him sus but he's been putting this off for to long and honestly fuck his label because they screwed him over one too many times for him to still even consider their relationship anything other than employee-client1[4:06 PM]and so Trevor takes a sip of Ray's coffee holy shit how did go so long without it?! and he explains it. he explains everything.
(Sev) Ray doesn't speak as Trevor explains. He never interrupts or even look surprised. His face is completely unreadable. He doesn't move until Trevor's done. And then once he is, he only stands up to start pacing the room. Trevor's oddly reminded of Alex as he does so,  and the memory is enough to make him flinch. "This... this is what you two have been hiding from me for so long?" he asked, voice brittle. "This is... this is what cost us... I mean..." But he can't finish. Ray just shakes his head, back to both Rose and Trevor.
(Ren) Suddenly he's seventeen again. Seventeen and a mess in Ray's arms burying his face into the man's chest finally feeling the weight of the world lift off of his shoulders and suddenly Rose is hugging him from behind, her too-skiny bone arms snaking around his chest and hugging him tightly threatening to never let him go saying "amour," and pressing a kiss to the back of his head, "amour we never stopped loving you."
(Sev)It's like no time has passed by the time he's done crying his eyes out. They're all huddled on a sofa that was always too small for three. Trevor's in the middle, clutching at them both as if they're going to disappear on him. Ray sits with his legs underneath them, his arms pulling the both of them into his chest. And then there's Rose, suddenly so much more delicate than Trevor remembers. She sits half on his lap, curled into them, her fingers knotted in his hair. "I can't believe you two kept this from me," Ray whispers. There's no anger. He doesn't think Ray's ever been capable of being angry. "I'm sorry," Trevor whispers, throat raw from tears. Ray answers with a firm kiss to his temple. "We wasted so much time..."
(Ren) Trevor just lays between them in their bed, nothing sexual and nothing tense it’s just them being together and Rose playing with his now-long hair, braiding it right down the middle despite it being too long for others to braid. Her fingers feel nice as they tug at his roots, familiar and a sense of calm washes over him. He lets ray fop on top of him like they used to, burying his head in his chest just listening to his heart beat, his steady constant breathing because Ray used to be afraid one day he'd wake up and Bobby would be dead too. Rose humming lightly, soft lullabies that chased away dark thoughts and Trevor just finds it so comforting, a feeling of home he hasn't had since the day he left and so he wraps his arms around Rose and Ray tight, promising himself he won't screw up his second time around.
(Sev) It's a few hours later when he speaks again. The girls are asleep in Julie's room (delighted at their surprise sleepover.) Ray's almost nodded off, head resting against Trevor's chest. But Rose is wide awake. She's laid out, tangled between them, eyes focused on something far away. He can see it more clearly now. The tremble in her hands, the way she's so still, the circles around her eyes. He takes her hand in his. "What is it?"
(Ren) And Trevor wants it to be a prank, he wants the sinking feeling in his gut twisting around his heart, the same feeling he had the morning of Sunset Curve's Orpheum performance coiling up his spine to go away. He wants everything to be okay, that he told the truth, that he was forgiven, that the universe was finally on his side for once but of course it's not because when has it ever been.  Rose's fingers run lightly over his knuckles and Ray wraps his arm around him from behind, his hands resting against Trevor's chest, something solid for him to focus on and as a tear starts to roll down Rose's cheek he reaches up to brush it away, running his hand through her hair only to pull out a clump as he pulled away but he couldn't run when his instincts to run kick in like they always used to do when situations turned emotional, bury it in his mind and lock up his worries like he always did but this wasn't going to be something he could run from.
(Sev) Life is not the fantasy or a fairy tale. There are no happy endings, only happy moments. He'd like to say they picked up right where they left off, Rose lived until a ripe old age, and they never fought again. But he'd be lying. It was hard to fold their lives back into place again, especially with Carrie and Julie. To just pick up after their seventeen year old selves was an impossible dream. But they could do breakfast. And breakfast became dinner. Dinner became one date which became two which became many. It took trouble and care, but they slotted themselves back into each other's lives again. There were lunch dates, and movie nights. There were late night wine dates and early morning coffee dates. They found their happy moments. A decade of separation had smoothed out the rough edges. If Trevor stormed out after a harsh argument, he'd return the next day with flowers and apologies. If Rose snapped and lost her temper, she'd take herself off for a walk to cool down. If Ray was bothered by something, he'd speak up instead of pushing it all down. They found their happy moments. And when 1 month became 1 year, they celebrated with moving boxes and a new, bigger couch. When 1 year became 2, they celebrated with promise rings and whispers of a better future between light kisses. 3 years became 4, became 5, and so on... They found their happy moments. But life is not a fantasy or a fairy tale. Their story ends in a hospital. Rose dies with both her husbands at her side, with both her daughters and son clutching on her hands. She dies with a smile on her face, knowing she is not leaving them to suffer alone. Ray and Trevor grieve together.
(Ren) And this time the girls are the ones who get into the fight but Trevor and Ray are there for Julie and Carrie no matter what they're fighting over carrie told julie she liked flynn but julie said flynn was hers first and doesnt understand how she can feel squishy love for two people. And this time the girls are the ones who get into the fight but Trevor and Ray are there for Julie and Carrie no matter what they're fighting over carrie told julie she liked flynn but julie said flynn was hers first and doesnt understand how she can feel squishy love for two people. They stick to their daughters through the worst of it but they don’t let the girl’s fighting rip into them too. It’s not what Rose would’ve wanted for them, it’s not what she would’ve wanted for Julie or Carrie either.
(Sev) And when Julie plays with her ghost band, it's much earlier that Trevor recognizes who she's playing with.
(Ren) Luke’s mad at first, ofc he is but after everything is explained and out in the open Trevor finds himself at home in a building that never felt like home despite the fact he grew up in it.

I took a deep breath and threw myself against the backrest, waiting for the first location to load while my hands ran through up my face and through my hair.
A yawn escaped my lips as I checked the laptop's clock first, and the timer for the code to do its magic second.
Leaving the laptop over the chair where I had been sitting, I walked my way to the kitchen and poured myself what would be the fourth coffee of that morning.
As soon as I finished, I made my way to the balcony were I used to spend those early mornings with my mug held between my palms.
I took a sip of my coffee, resting my elbows over the small balcony's railing. My were eyes closed as I breathed in the forest morning breeze.
"So much for saying it was a one-night stand." A teasing voice behind me asked, and a grin tugged the corners of my lips. "You still here?"
"It's been two weeks since that." I taunted him, taking a sip. "get over it."
"can't get over you." He dramatically stated in his morning husky voice, which made the sentence seem way more romantic than I thought it was.
"So fucking cheesy." I laughed.
"Bare with me, doll." feeling his lips against my temple made my smile wider while a pair of hands traveled from behind me to rest on my hips. "this is mine." he tugged the hem of his jacket, which I was wearing.
I hummed in response, leaning my back against his chest. "It's chilly out here. I didn't wanna get cold."
He tugged the hem of his jacket eagerly, feathery kisses tracing a path from my shoulder to my neck "come back to bed" I chuckled at his eagerness . " it's still warm."
"I got work to do" I replied noctant with the sole goal of sort-of upsetting him in a playful way. "No time for cuddling."
"Please, Y/n." he whined, slowly pulling me away from the balcony to take me back to the bed. "Just ten minutes."
"It's not gonna be ten minutes." I retorted playfully, turning around to kiss his lips as we entered the bedroom once more. "You're not fooling anyone with those puppy eyes, Barnes."
He let out a subtle laugh "at least you won't get cold."
I shivered.
It was always a little bit too chilly during the morning in that balcony.
I felt the urge to squeal when a jacket was suddenly thrown over my shoulders as a reply to my subtle shiver.
I held it back, though, and instead, grabbed the lapels clothing offered and put it on while a tall figure made its way to my side "Drop the coffee, yunky." Sam teased, resting his elbows over the railing without sparing me more than a subtle glance. "it's like the tenth one I see you with this mornin'."
"It's just the fourth one." I responded, looking before me to avoid eye contact with him as I took a sip of the coffee. "It's nice to see your level of drama hasn't changed at all."
"it's good to see your level of sarcasm is still the same, too." I shook my head with a smirk I couldn't hold back. "I kinda missed that annoying sass."
"Oh boy, ain't I aware of that."
His amused yet brief chuckle preceeded a surprisingly soothing silence between the two of us.
"So" I looked over to him and, by the knowing half smile in his face as he watched me intently, I just knew what he was going to mention. "a boyfriend?"
"Hell no," I denied with a scoff. "we're not talking 'bout that."
"C'mon, Y/n." he whined, turning to face my side. "I won't tell Barnes."
"Sam" I pinched the bridge of my nose as all the bad memories from those last days with them came back around, as if they had been summoned by Bucky’s last name. "I still don't trust you. Any of you."
"Uh... Sorry."
"Like-- I appreciate you tryin" I explained the best way I could. "but we're not there yet, and I don't know if we ever will."
"Yeah I'm-"
I shut my eyes as the self-awareness of how rude I might have sounded hit me. "I'm sorry I-"
"No, no, I'm sorry, you're right." he sighed, rubbing is hands together in an anxious manner. "And... I know it's not my place to ask any of this, but-" he took a split second to measure his words before speaking. "You're happy with him, right?"
I frowned, not at the question itself, but at what was carefully hidden behind it. "what d'ya mean?"
"I mean, you're with him because he makes you happy, right?"
"Wilson, why the fuck would I be with him if he didn't?" I inquired, now turning around to face him as my tone turned more hostile each passing second.
"I shouldn't be sayin' this but-"
"But you're gonna say it anyway." I finished. He opened his mouth a couple of times but nothing came out. "C'mon, what d'ya mean?"
"Listen-" he glanced around before continuing the sentence he had just started. "I'm just sayin I hope it's 'cause you're happy together and not 'cause of Bucky."
We eyeballed each other for a hot second while the anger built up inside me, making it so damn hard for me not to explode.
"Y'know what? I'm not havin' it." I stated, stepping away from the balcony in order to reach the living room.
"That's not an answer."
"You don't fuckin' deserve one." I hissed, grabbing the laptop to finish what was left to do as quickly as I could, now eager to flee out of there.
How dare him? I thought to myself. Who the fuck gave him the right to say shit like that.
The moment I was done with the laptop, I smacked it shut and, picking up my jacket, I rushed downstairs.
I was so inside my thoughts that I ended up bumping into Bucky on my way out, which left us both with barely enough balance to avoid falling down the stairs.
"Shit- sorry."
"Don't worry." he let go of my forearms, which I didn't know he was holding, and I shockingly enough, had to do the same, since I gripped his arms to avoid falling. "You okay?"
"Yeah- I mean..." I puffed, affirming with my head. "I'm fine."
"I..." I stared into his eyes for a moment, watching him trying to read me in order to find out what was wrong. "You sure?" I only nodded as his worried irises observed me. "you finished?"
"Yeah, everything's set in the laptop already." he mumbled an 'alright' and stepped aside, freeing the way for me to exit. "I... I really hope you find her."
"I'll call you if I need your help again." he answered, and, right after, attempted to climb upstairs.
"Bucky wait!" I followed him just to be close enough to be able to grab his hand, which made his whole body tense. "I changed my number." I explained whilst getting a pen out of my pocket to scribble my new number on his palm. "there it goes." I let go of him with a pang of sadness that I wouldn't even admit to myself. "keep me updated." I requested, trying my best to ignore the tinge of red creeping up his neck and ears.
"Okay. Have a good time with your boyfriend." what was meant to be a smile ended up as a pursed lip, and I couldn't blame him since I felt my mouth doing the same gesture as I climbed downstairs to the door.

BUCKY'S P. O. V.
I double checked Natasha's phone's latest locations, which Y/n had managed to get before leaving, before going back to the map in order to revise which were areas out of New Jersey and Queens.
"Hey" I spun my head to the door frame, against where Sam's side was now resting. "How's it going?"
"Uh... I think we have something." I informed him, pointing at one small area near the center of Manhattan. "I called Carter— I know, Steve's gonna kill me." I stated, anticipating whatever Sam must have thought of saying out loud. "She said Hydra's boys have been seen in this area for a while and--"
"I wasn't asking 'bout Nat." he cut me off, tilting his head to the side slightly while the faintest tinge of worry showed up in his eyes. "I meant-- y'know what I meant."
"What d'ya want me to say?" I questioned with a wannabe-careless shrug. "It's going. Just like it's been goin' for 'bout year already."
I took a peek at his face and I just knew he was about to explain to me how different it had been today from the rest of that year of me drowning in self-pity.
"Don't-"
"She got a boyfriend."
"Yeah, I heard that too." I replied sarcastically, getting up in order to reach for the phone again.
"What I mean-"
"She moved on, I know." I finished his sentence, starting to mark Peggy's number once again. "Can you focus on-"
Sam teared the phone away from me in a swift movement, which left me shocked for a couple of seconds.
"what the hell, Wilson?"
"Don't call Peggy," he warned me, locking the phone and placing it in his pocket. "Steve's gonna end you. And-"
"I swear if it's 'bout-"
"I wasn't gonna say that she moved on, you idiot." he snapped. "I was gonna say, don't do anything fucking stupid."
"What the hell does that mean?"
"It means she's not single." my friend warned me with arms crossed, no longer resting against the door frame. "It means that if somethin' happens and she doesn't stop it-"
"Nothin'll happen," I assured him with a sting of pain in my heart.
He sighed, scratching the back of his neck. "I'm just sayin'..."
"Sam."
"I'm tryna help, man." his reply sounded as a desperate whine. "If you do something stupid and her relationship goes south, the blame's gonna be on you."
"It wouldn't-"
"It will," he argued, lowering the voice before continuing. " 'cause it's easier to blame the ex who fucked her up."
"We're all adults."
"Yeah" he agreed. "but you're my friend and I don't wanna see you bawling and weeping for another year."
"I'll be just fine."

Spilling Tea On Phantom of the Opera 2004
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I just want to say from the start that it is not my intention to offendanyone, you're entitled to your opinions and I'm allowed to have mine...
Ok, so, I just watched this movie a few days ago on my laptop and it was pretty much my first time sitting through the movie. I watched a few clips of the movie on YouTube but... Then, I decided to watch the whole movie. And this was my reaction.
Tumblr media
Don't get me wrong! There WERE parts I liked but... That was just half of the movie... But overall... Um... It was meh. Ahem. Down to business!
My opinion on Gerard Butler as the Phantom? Um, wow. And not in a good way. I feel like this was a case of a talented performer being grossly miscast as the Phantom. I think this Tumblr post best describes on what I thought of his singing.
"He's supposed to have the voice of an angel, but it sounds like he's been gargling vinegar" ~Quoted by @faded-florals
Don't get me wrong. His voice is quite good for an untrained singer but... The Phantom is one of the biggest musical theatre roles of all time! It's right up there with Jean Valjean. It's really not a role that could go a competent singer, someone who's never sang professionally before but could be good once they've been trained up a bit. The role demands a truly great singer... And he wasn't right for the part.
His voice felt too strainy, growly and rock-ish for the Phantom. I didn't like how Joel Schumacher bought into the whole "sexy Phantom" thing and cast a hunky heart-throb, who was nowhere near disfigured enough. It's meant to be a gothic thriller novel with a small romantic subplot, not a B-grade vampire romance movie!
As for Emmy Rossum as Miss Christine Daae... it's true, her voice is good. She should know though, should she wish to excel, she has MUCH still to learn (Heeeeehee. Sorry. Couldn't resist.)
Emmy's Christine had little-to-no character growth and personality but I don't think it reflects her as an actress, but reflects more on the director and casting director because of how young she was (but more on that later)
Not only that, her Christine was SIGNIFICANTLY dumbed down and oversexualized. I mean, the entire point of the story is that Christine grows strong enough to overcome the trauma of an abusive relationship and make sure that her abuser never hurts anyone ever again but still shows the Phantom compassion and sympathy. I mean, her story arc is her becoming strong-willed enough to overcome the Phantom's pull/spell/enchantment/hypnosis or whatever you percieve it as on her! And don't get me started on her costumes because of the SEVERE lack of modesty.
The chemistry was a little flat because she was underage and her two male love interests were both in their 30s (which totally isn't HER fault, of course, but the directors could easily have cast someone else older)
Her voice, too, strikes me as being much too young and undeveloped. She has a very pretty, sweet-sounding quality to her singing but she doesn't sound rich and operatic enough to be a convincing Christine. Rebecca Caine and Amy Manford do the best job of singing the way I think Christine ought to sound- a maturing opera voice! Though POTO is NOT an opera (you wouldn't believe how many people actually think it is...), it does revolve around opera, and Christine is an opera singer, not a pop star.
And now onto... Everyone's favourite vicomte!!!!!!
C'mon people, put your bottles down. It is a truth universally acknowledged (or at least in the wee Raoul Defense Squad Circle) that Raoul is one of the greatest and most underrated boyfriends to ever exist in musical theatre and it's almost impossible to hate him because of how relatable he is.
Ladies, puh-leeze. He's much more relatable than you admit and face it, we all have a little bit of Raoul in us. Failure to see things staring us in the face, saying or doing the wrong thing at the wrong time, having a 'see it to believe it' attitude when we have little-to-no evidence on something... yeah, don't pretend you don't see a trend. Raoul is relatable whether we want him to be or not.
My thoughts on Patrick Wilson as Raoul, he was one of the few redeeming qualities of this not so great movie. Yeah, the swordfight and Tarzan leaps were a little too much but can you blame him?! And though I feel like that foppish wig made him look more like a magic elf prince than a vicomte, he couldn't control that!
His Raoul was so gentle and caring! Yeah, his acting was a bit stiff but at least his voice wasn't a chore to listen to, it has this warm, tender, comforting quality to it which suits Raoul. I really loved the way he sang "Don't throw away your life for my sake" and "I fought so hard to free you" in the Final Lair (😭😭😭) It feels like Raoul is genuinely apologising to Christine.
I know, I know... The Hadley Fraser fans are approaching with menacing expressions as we speak but let me clarify. I still think Hadley is amazing but... His Raoul kinda felt a little too shouty for me and his Raoul was closer to the LND-canon than POTO-canon (not his fault though).
Miranda Richardson (aka. Rita Skeeter) as Madame Giry is kind of weird. I mean, I know Madame Giry's supposed to be a little Strange and Mysterious. But this Mme. wasn't really Strange or Mysterious at all, or even slightly Spooky at all. She was just kind of an oddball. Popping up in random places to give warnings about the Phantom and looking at people as if she were questioning their life choices or something. As for her daughter... well, Jennifer Ellison's Meg was so-so. She's got a sweet-sounding voice and that added scene where she looked for Christine in the lair was a nice touch... But... Her Meg was kinda forgettable and uninteresting. Meg is supposed to prance around shrieking that the Phantom of the Opera is here, not whisper it in a blase manner that you half expect to be followed up with, "by the way, what's for lunch?" Not to mention, she rivaled Christine as far as low-necked costumes went.
Minnie Driver as Carlotta was spot on! Yes, I know she didn't sing the score but her acting was alright. She was very over-the-top and self-centered, which is great for Carlotta, but I felt her portrayal was a little too childish to be accurate. Carlotta is a successful middle-aged diva who's willing to scream and storm when she doesn't get her way, but she isn't a two-year-old pouting and throwing tantrums. (Yes, there's a difference.)
Ciaran Hinds and Simon Callow played Firmin and Andre, respectively. Their managers kinda felt like twits and nothing more. Also, Firmin's masquerade costume was ridiculous. The stupid kind, not the funny kind. ...Well, okay, it was a little funny.
I'm not going to touch on every song here, but I will say that "Hannibal" was beyond awful (if you thought the costumes in the stage version were a bit risque, you should see the movie ones- no, actually you shouldn't) and that "Think of Me," while very nice, was not particularly memorable. Christine's dress, however (despite its less-than-ideal neckline) was GORGEOUS, even though it looks completely out of place in a musical that supposedly takes place in ancient Alexandria.
"Little Lotte" kinda lost its charm by being spoken instead of sung. And Gerard Butler's voice in "The Mirror" was too rough and raspy for my ears and made me cringe in sympathetic shame. The title song was like a cheesy, campy B-grade horror movie tbh, trying way too hard to be spooky and chilling ("ooh, look, Phantom's Lair! It's DARK and SCARY down here!") and succeeding only in being cringeworthy. Not that I've actually ever seen a bad horror movie- or any horror movie at all, for that matter. Unless you count this one.
Christine's costume, too, annoyed me no end. She was basically wearing a corset and drawers under the dressing gown. *facepalm* The dressing gown is supposed to go OVER your COSTUME to keep it CLEAN, peeps. It's not a BATHROBE. And the amount of eye makeup she had on would terrify a raccoon. Yikes.
Though I liked the random horse because of its nod to the Leroux novel.
"Music of the Night" was so blah-slash-touchy-feely that it made me summarily uncomfortable.
I'd like to be able to say something nice about "I remember/Stranger than you dreamt it" but I have none. One thing that bugged me to no end was how Christine is no longer wearing stockings, like dude, that gives some GROSS implications. Anyways, let's skip to Il Muto!
Oh, but first I should say that "Notes" was rather a flop and that "Prima Donna" is unmemorable and indeed should probably be fast-forwarded as there's a rather unsavory bit involving a crew member showing the audience what he thinks of Carlotta's behaviour.
"Il Muto," I must say, was pretty doggone funny. Carlotta's "Your part is silent. Leetle toad," cracked me up into a bunch of giggling little pieces, and the little vignette of the Phantom tinkering with Carlotta's throat spray made her croaking later on a lot more believable.
Now for "All I Ask Of You", SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! I honestly can't understand how anyone could listen to this song and still maintain that Christine and Raoul don't belong together. He represents everything she needs- stability, protection, a guiding hand and affirmed affection. She represents everything he needs, in turn- someone to show affection to and his childhood friend.
One thing I definitely think could have been left out was the scene in which Erik kills Buquet- we totally did not need to see him being chased, terrified, through the rafters and finally strangled. Gross.
And the Phantom and his rose crouching behind that statue... I think this was supposed to be sad, but there was too much snot mixed with tears for it to be sad. It was, again, gross. So was Gerard Butler's pathetic attempt at the "all that the Phantom asked of you" line. And the lack of a chandelier crash in that scene made the song anticlimactic.
And "Masquerade" was so-so but... The Phantom's entrance is anticlimactic somehow, and his Red Death costume (if indeed it's supposed to even BE the Red Death) is unimpressive. I don't like how Raoul just runs off to desert Christine as soon as things start looking ugly (yes, I realize he was going to get his sword, but still... something could have happened to her while he was gone. Duh, did this guy learn anything from "Little Lotte/The Mirror"? Just sayin)
As for Madame Giry's flashback immediately following, I like how it gives us some of the Phantom's backstory, but it seems really abrupt. You don't even realize until she's done that she was talking to Raoul the whole time- it sounds like she's just randomly reminiscing about Stuff, and if you didn't know the story you might be sitting there thinking, "who is this strange woman again?"
Also, Christine leaving wherever-it-is at, like, five in the morning to go to who-knows-where, completely oblivious to the fact that the Phantom is driving her. Whaaaaaaaaa? How'd he know she was planning to go for a graveyard stroll? Was he watching her through the mirror again? THAT'S JUST CREEPY.
"Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" was rather mediocre and dulled down the fact that it is a Christine Empowerment™ song. Why, exactly, does Christine's father have the biggest monument in the cemetery? If he were a rich and famous violinist as his crypt seems to suggest, why on earth was his daughter struggling along as a chorus girl taking free music lessons?
The swordfight... Well... I had mixed feelings about it. Sword fights are all well and good, but... The swordfight takes away the element of mysterious danger to the Phantom. Okay, fine, Christine getting Raoul to spare the Phantom's life is a nice touch, I guess, but did it strike no one else that his "now let it be war upon you BOTH" makes absolutely NO sense after that? If she just saved his life, why would he suddenly be all, "thanks, but no thanks, I'M GOING TO MURDER YOUUUUUUUUUU"?
And "Twisted Every Way" was after "Wishing" which made ZERO sense. Plus, I didn't like how they cut most of it because in the musical, it gave Christine a spine!
"Point of No Return"? Hooooooo boy....... There are so many things wrong with this number. Let's just a list a few.
*HOW did no one recognise the Phantom through his "disguise"?! At least in the stage play, it made more sense because of how he was wearing a cloak that obscured most of his body.
*Christine's sleeves falling down over and over again were REALLY annoying.
*It was just too touchy-feely for my taste.
*The fact that Emmy Rossum was a teenager during filming made this scene gross because of the way they oversexualized Christine in this scene.
*Gerard Butler's voice in that scene made me cringe and shake my head in sympathetic shame.
*In the stage play, Christine ran from him, showing her own agenda and resistance to his pull! While in the movie, she didn't resist him!
*Now for the one that took the cake... The disfigurement! Or it would be a disfigurement if it actually made him look, y'know, deformed. Instead, as several people have put it, he looks like he got a bad sunburn or something. It's really rather pathetic. It makes him look more like a drama queen than he already is! Yeah.... I really don't like this movie.
On to... Final Lair!!!!!!!! It was a flop. From Raoul's whining and flailing around and his stringy hair flopping about (shallow complaint, I know, but it's so ugly) to Christine's sappy melodramatic "don't make me choooooooose" faces to the Phantom's prancing around with his ropes and maniacal laughter that somehow wasn't really scary at all... yeah, it was a flop. A major, major flop. And though The Kiss wasn't all that bad, all I could think of was, "She's SIXTEEN! SIX! TEEN! THIS IS CREEPY, DISTURBING AND GROSS!"
Which is why it's so difficult for me to admit that, um, I... cried at the end.
I COULDN'T HELP IT GUYS HE WAS ALL ALONE THERE IN HIS LAKE WITH HIS MONKEY AND HIS SMASHED MIRRORS AND HE WAS CRYING AND IT WAS SAD.
And then that rose on the gravestone? That single red rose? And the look on Old Raoul's face (still Patrick Wilson, by the way, under all that makeup) when he saw it and realized he wasn't the only one visiting Christine's grave? Yup, I lost it again there, too. And I really didn't want to. Because I tend to cry over movies I love, y'know? And I didn't love this movie. At all
Yet I still cried at the end. I'm not really sure why. I think perhaps it had something to do with the way the story still "got" me, deep down inside, despite the lousy casting and less-than-perfect singing and ridiculously unnecessary elements that totally didn't need to be there. It's still a tragically beautiful romance, and even a bad film can't kill that.
In conclusion, I think Mary Poppins can best express what I thought of POTO 2004.
In conclusion, I rate it a 2.7/5
