Big ol’ rant

Once again it must be the fever talking but… I feel like there’s been a lot of random kink shaming and shaming in general going on about how people characterize the ghouls and ghoulettes. And granted maybe 1% of it is accurate but… I preface this with saying WE SHOULD ALL USE THE PROPER TAGS. Even when we reblog stuff. I am bad at it. I’m trying to get better. That includes going through past posts.

That being said, if people write all the ghouls as trans maybe it’s because they would like to create a scenario where it isn’t a minority, if people write age regression because it’s something they experience or gives them comfort - let them? If people want to write about more extreme kinks - let them. I’ve seen ppl chased off the internet for writing Copia X Terzo for example.

If people want to write piss, incest, scat I don’t really give a fuck. There are only a few hard nos and I think we know what they are. But don’t try and use the real life people playing the made up characters as justification for shaming creators.

Because you may think your HCs are totally innocent and innocuous but they could very well horrify that real life person. And that is why we aren’t writing/drawing/talking about them.

Also, there’s no good or bad writing or art. We all possess different skill levels and we are still worthy of creating and sharing it.

Andddd if someone’s portrayal of neuro-divergence, mental illness, queerness etc doesn’t align with yours it doesn’t mean they’re wrong. If it isn’t your experience you are so very free to write about your own.

What’s more is how many times the creator of this whole thing has said he supports people being creative, is well aware of the fanfic people write and also said the only thing we got wrong is how big their dicks are. (If you want sources I’ll find them because I’ve done it before for this same argument) anyways - in conclusion - Don’t like? Don’t read?

Coming into 2024, I had big plans for how I was going to get back on track and get back to posting once a week and yeah, obviously, that hasn’t happened.

But what I have been doing is looking at my Patreon and at my own projects and figuring out some things I need to do differently. Last April, I changed my nom de plume because I wanted a fresh start. Now it’s time to give this entire Patreon project a refresh.

Here’s what’s happened so far:

Deleted my old A.F. Linley website and gave up the domain; the cost for hosting has risen by $200/year and I wasn’t using it as much as I thought I would back in 2018. Also I kept getting spam emails through the contact page.

Took down my Smashwords account; the single title I had managed to self-publish, a short story collection called Creeps, Ghouls and Jewels, had some serious formatting issues that it was not going to be worth the time/money to correct. Plus, I’m not happy with the changes that have come since Smashwords merged with Draft2Digital. (I’m considering moving to Payhip for future self-pubbed titles but that’s a discussion for a different post.)

I’m starting the process of taking down my Redbubble shop and....Okay, actually, I might have done that already? I just went to grab a link to the site in case anyone wanted to order a Moonicorns t-shirt before I deactivated but uh, it looks like it might’ve deactivated itself? Anyway, merch isn’t the right direction for me at this time, but I’ve still got all the actual designs and I really do like the “Finishing Things is Hard” logo, so I’m definitely going to hang onto that and slap that onto some stuff at a different print-on-demand site in the future.

Here’s what’s happening next:

New posting schedule: Starting in April, patrons will receive one short non-fiction post every week (500-1k words) and a piece of fiction every month (2-2.5k words). Oddments posts will continue to be free to read, but these take a decent amount of research and will be sporadic, basically happening around patron-only posts.

Revised patron tier perks: Getting rid of physical rewards and adding more digital ones. More details to come.

look I don’t live in America but as that country continues to claim to be the power of the fucking world and likes to try to effect it as such I’ve been following y’all’s politics closer than my own country’s since 2016. Perhaps not smart, or strategic, or selfless or whatever, but instinctively that’s where my focus has been. Insistently. Non stop. For fucking 6 years now.

So if you can listen to this outsider’s perspective...

Joe Biden fucking sucks, the Dems fucking suck, that’s all incredibly clear. We all know it. They’re shit. They’re a disappointment, they’re weak cowards, and they clearly, like all the dems before them, give more of a shit about winning the next election than actually making an influential difference, and yes, sometimes you do need to prioritise one over the other.

Anyway that’s my long-winded way of getting to the point which is you still have to fucking vote, and you still have to FUCKING VOTE DEMS. THEY SUCK. I KNOW. I FUCKING KNOW.

But everyone who doesn’t vote for the democratic party is an advantage to the republicans. Your third party isn’t gonna fucking win in this two party system. They’re not. You can be on your high horse about it and vote for someone you feel is better than the Dems, but they’re a third party. They’re not going to win.

And you can choose not to vote at all, because everyone is shit, and they ARE, but what the fuck are you doing to help there. You’re leaving it to everyone else to try and win what has truly become a fucking war. You’re foisting the responsibility off yourself and onto everyone else. That’s not gonna help.

Vote. The fucking. Dems. Because they are shitty and useless, but the Republicans are evil, and will go out of their way to hurt everyone who isn’t them. Anyone who is queer, poor, has a uterus, a darker skin colour, a different belief. The republicans are the ones voting to make teaching about sexuality illegal, voting to make letting your kid be trans illegal, voting to make it illegal to have an abortion. The dems are fucking shit but they don’t go looking for those results, they don’t go trying to spread fear and hate and actively damage the lives of everyone they don’t agree with.

You HAVE to vote and you HAVE to vote Dems or you will be actively allowing the country to fall back into the hands of Donald Trump and the ghouls that have risen up in his image. You will be making it easier for the fucking demons that make up the republican party to get away with everything they want, and that means hurting everyone else.

Vote for the goddamn democratic party if you have any kind of hope at all left that your country won’t fall into complete ruin.

haise probably watches great british bake off. he watches other baking shows too but he is an AVID bake off watcher. also probably likes really sappy romance dramas, bonus if they’re historical and/or queer

urie likes things that are suspenseful and have well thought out tension, namely crime shows…dare i say he would watch death note? perhaps i am projecting but i think he would. he’s trying to pick up on l’s techniques to be a better investigator

i’ve said that one of shirazu’s big interests is aliens, and that he would do the duolingo klingon course, so of course he’s a star trek watcher. also really into the x-files (may have thought it was real at first)

i actually think mutsuki is more like me in that he’s very picky about what he watches, not about genre necessarily, but he needs to relate to the characters…as meta as it is, i think he’d like tokyo ghoul…

saiko watches anything from slice of life anime to action with robots and aliens and supernatural beings. she’s a loyal one piece watcher. probably watches jujutsu kaisen…but refuses to interact w the fandom online (so real)

let me indulge myself…hsiao has always been very serious and training focused. i mean she’s from the sunlit garden, of course she’s focused on being an amazing investigator. so she never really took the time to get into any shows. before joining the squad, her favorite show was the nightly news. but when she met saiko and started spending more time with her, she gained a new appreciation for fiction and how it reflected humanity. now her favorite is…whatever saiko wants :3 (but she does like the more suspenseful shows most because sometimes saiko will hold her hand if she’s feeling anxious)

It's cute that Drac and Clawd are implied to get together again in G3 but I'm also kinda disappointed too. Since the showrunners, Mattel, and even fans have made it clear G3 is a different universe I was kind of hoping Draculaura could explore a relationship with someone else this time around.

I personally see Clawdeen in G1 as a queer coded woman in denial about her more than platonic feelings for Draculaura and I think that's made obvious by how jealous and angry she got when Clawd started dating her and how every male love interest Clawdeen has had in the show is always a Vampire 🤔 Aside from that I always felt like Draculaura and Clawdeen's friendship was full of romantic tension even if it was sort of one sided.

They're not as close in G3 in my eyes but I would have still liked to maybe see them explore Draculaura having feelings for Clawdeen this time around instead of Clawd 😔 but I think atleast in G3 we may have Clawdeen be openly interested in girls because I feel chemistry between her and Toralei since the Earworm episode.

Idk maybe it's just my Dracudeen/queer heart talking but I think it would be interesting if Draculaura thinks she likes Clawd but is going through comp het and is unconsciously trying to substitute Clawdeen with Clawd but in the end realizes and admits to herself she has feelings for Clawdeen ♡. A ghoul can dream anyway 🤷‍♀️

The Slugterra movie reviews

This has been in the drafts for a while so buckle up for a longerish post

Ghoul from Beyond

Ghoul from beyond was pretty cool and I liked the concept of the goon and the beginning of the Eastern caverns but the coolest part of the movie which is when Eli gets ghouled is way too short and it literally happens and is resolved in like ten minutes. But the movie for me is very nostalgic and it was a big deal when it first was advertised and when it first came out. Everyone was hyped the fuck up and I was too but watching it now it’s still fun but maybe not as exciting. Plus we get introduced to best boi Junjie. 7/10

Return of the Elementals

Okay lowkey I have a lot to say about this movie that I will try to fit in here. First off we have a new member of the team: Junjie. And the gang doesn’t immediately love him and they have to work together and figure out how to incorporate a fifth person in their group. There’s so many little details that I love from the movie. For example, Blakk doesn’t immediately kill Eli and the Goon is furious with Blakk and he brings it up constantly

Then there is the second time the gang tries to cure the ghouled elementals but the gang doesn’t know that the Goon took two of them, so when Kord finds this out he tells him tell Eli. Junjie clearly can’t get to Eli in time so he tries to stop Blakk himself. Obviously this doesn’t work and Pronto goes to tell Eli who is pissed. Normally, I would hate this misunderstanding trope because they happen so frequently in media and it’s just so annoying. But in ROTE the stakes are so high so when you see the Goon and Blakk switch the slugs and they try the plan again you’re like oh shit this is not gonna work. Plus Junjie not following orders again might make Eli question him again.

Also Will comes back!! And we get the most heart wrenching scene of Eli running up to the hole that his dad jump in literally screaming for his father only to be pulled away literally seconds before he jumps in. Also can’t forget Blakk’s darkbane form and the reveal of his new form is literally so fucking cool. Also the dialogue is great like when Kord screaming “does it look like I know slug fu” 10/10

Slug fu Showdown

Honestly four points go to high Eli alone 😅 Which I literally made a post about. But anyway on a serious note I’m so disappointed about this movie. Literally it has the coolest premise which is Eli learning slug fu which is what everyone wanted him to learn the first time we saw Junjie do it. And don’t get me wrong Junjie teaching Eli slug fu is the best part of the movie. I also love that not only is Eli learning from Junjie, but Junjie is learning from Eli like how he learns to name his slug because of him. I love the dynamic that the two of them have. And it’s a constant thing for Eli and Junjie to learn and grow from each other. That literally sounds so queer but it’s true 😅

But other than the the rest of the gang really have nothing to do. Instead they are going around chasing the elementals around because every villian and their mom knows about the elementals and wants their power or something like that. And I know it’s so stupid that they figured it out because Pronto was on like national television but I think it’s funny that Pronto was the one they interviewed and not like literally anyone else in the gang. It is nice to see Sedo and the Hooligang again they’re pretty cool villains 

Speaking of villains I have to talk about the villains in this movie. I honestly can’t remember his name and I’m too lazy to look it up but his plan to use the elementals to like destroy Slugterra because they would hit like the fault lines?? Like I don’t get it and it’s clear he was just added so Eli can just learn slug fu. I do think it’s really funny how the only way for Eli to learn slug fu is like under pressure because he’s like really resourceful. Like boy literally had to learn when the world was at stake and all of his friends are just standing around like staring at him. Like it just all felt way too fast. I know we watched him struggle but it just happened so fast. And I love Eli but this is a common theme with him in the later seasons. He kinda becomes a gary stu but you didn’t hear it from me 😅 5/10

Eastern Caverns

So I honestly didn’t know that the next two were considered movies but according to the Wikipedia they are so I’m going to count them. Next up is Eastern Caverns. I would definitely say it’s probably closer to 4 episodes that connected to each other than a movie but whatever. The concept of the Eastern Caverns is so cool but initially I was a little worried they would be like a little racist because I’m pretty sure most of the writers for Slugterra were white but they weren’t. The bar is so low 😅

I mean some of the stuff I was like a little 😬 like Pronto clearly dressing up in drag for shits and giggles and them talking about Chi but it’s stuff that I feel has been seen in Western media before. Plus this came out in like 2015 almost a whole decade ago 👀

But anyway most of the movie is them trying to get their slugs back and trying to gain the trust of the people of the Eastern Caverns after Junjie destroyed it for 20 years!! Which 20 years is just crazy. Like how old is Junjie technically supposed to be then like 35!!

But anyway they finally get into the place which is definitely the coolest part of the movie but then my one problem comes into play which is mostly a problem with Eli for me in the Eastern Caverns story line. They just make him so beefed up. Not literally but he has like so many skills under his belt like trick shots, fusion shots, slug fu, whatever the fuck he does with Burpy and they just write it off as well he’s so connected to the slugs that’s why which is just so dumb and lazy. And he just figures out slug fu because slug fu is connected to chi and chi is like the slinger code???? Like Eli I have never heard of this code you are talking about. But honestly deep down I don’t really care because I love Eli too much 😂

Also like I am so disappointed they used so many old models from the old 99 caverns but it’s Slugterra what are you gonna do. Like they couldn’t put a little bit of budget into making new background characters. And don’t even get me started on the Dai Fu. Overall I would give it a 7/10

The Emperor’s Revenge

Another “movie” despite me not remembering it as one when it came out. Maybe it was considered one later on for marketing who knows. What I do know is that is has the coolest fucking intro I have ever seen with all the Shane gang walking out of the hideout looking all badass and then introducing the voice actors with the statue of the emperor in the back is so freaking cool

I will say that the word movie is kinda a loose term here as like with the last “movie” since it’s very obvious it’s just 4 episodes combined into one which I don’t know why they did that in the first place but whatever. So bizarre

First off the first episode err I mean part is about how Junjie became the dark slinger and the background of Yang vs the Emperor. It’s a great episode and it has really pretty drawing to go with the story.

The second part is great too with Pronto acting brave because of the emperor’s sword and the creation on an iron warrior which the gang can’t defeat so they have to retreat which like never happens in the show. I actually liked brave Pronto it reminded me of when they made Shaggy brave from the Legend of the Phantosaur.

Also the iron warrior was created to be powered by life essence and we see the Dai Fu take Underlord Holt’s life essence on screen which seems kinda dark for this show

Then in the third part her life force is taken away by the emperor, who is back, to power up two other unstoppable warriors. I think the unstoppable warriors have a cool design and I understand why they had to reuse so many models from the old show.

But honestly the coolest thing was the reuse of the Thugglet slug which hasn’t been seen since The New Kid episodes. It’s like one of the coolest slugs in the show and they never use it

And honestly the final episode with the battle against the emperor was pretty cool. Unlike the battle against Blakk which was just the Shane gang and the shadow clan, this battle involved all the friends I guess that they met in the eastern caverns and it was pretty cool.

Plus the emperor was actually smart when following Eli and Junjie back to the hole of the deep caverns. He brought one of his unstoppable warriors with him. Also the like traumatic moment when Junjie jumps into the hole to stop the emperor from coming back up and they frame it how Will jumped in after Blakk like why you gotta do that to me Slugterra writers 😩

Overall I didn’t remember this movie at all until I watched it a couple of weeks ago but I actually really liked it. I just felt like the stakes were higher and the way they defeated the emperor was fun and creative.

The one problem I do have is about the elementals like how do the shane gang get back to the 99 without them, why did Eli even learn slug fu if he’s not gonna use the elementals to save his dad. I mean in the end the show didn’t get an ending so it’s doesn’t really matter that much 😢 Plus this was the last we see of Junjie and they never like hug him goodbye or anything but I wouldn’t except that from a boy’s cartoon anyway. No sentimentality allowed 😂 8/10 for the revenge

Into the shadows

I honestly thought I was gonna hate this movie because everyone else hated it when it came out in 2016. I know it was all because of Tad and how many plot holes he brings but (please don’t kill me) I like him. 

Sure he’s pulls the exact same thing as twist (rip a real one) but what makes me like him is that he’s from the surface and Eli clearly bonds with him over that especially since it’s revealed that Eli had such a horrible life on the surface after his dad went MIA and that Tad did too. Kinda interesting that they both escaped their horrible realities to live in a fantasy world but I digress. And don’t even get me started on the scene of Will wishing Eli a happy birthday. I’m still crying 😭 

But yeah the vibe I got from Tad and Eli was that they were like brothers. I mean Tad literally said surface bros. With Twist his betrayal was worst but I feel like we really didn’t see him and Eli bond personally. Twist was kinda just like Eli’s yes man. Just constantly hyping him up and just being like yeah I totally name my slugs and if Eli thinks it’s good than I think it’s good. Literally sucking his d*ck. What who said that!? 

It was also pretty cool seeing how much Eli has grown from the show from newbie to teaching someone of slugterra himself. Also how excited he gets when he goes “I know right” clearly happy that he found something to relate to. Maybe I’ll make a long post on tad and how he’s not as bad as people thought he was as a character. 8/10 only one point higher than Ghoul from Beyond because of that beautiful fucking animation. Everything has this like gold tinge to it and I really like it. It makes everything just pop. But again 8/10 sorry everyone who hated it 😅

to balance the scales here’s a list of vampire movies that i like and think that vampire movie fans should watch

the hunger (1983): this is a queer vampire movie that explores a lot of the tragedy of being a vampire. also it has david bowie and susan sarandon in it, so what’s not to love?

vamp (1986): grace jones runs a vampire strip club in a movie with a lot of very pretty green and pink lighting. i hate the ending of this movie, but the positives vastly outweigh the negatives.

mom’s got a date with a vampire (2000): a disney channel original movie which is the best of the “kid finds out vampires are real, tries to protect self/warn others” plot. it’s also very obviously inspired by the lost boys, so if your favorite part of tlb is the sam plotline i’d really recommend this one.

van helsing (2004): this movie starts with frankenstein’s monster being built in dracula’s castle, and it only gets better from there. overall just a whole lot of fun.

lost boys: the thirst (2010): not enough tlb fans have seen this movie, which is a shame cause it’s really funny. the biggest appeal of the thirst is just that edgar frog is a very funny character, and he’s been given a lot of different types of characters to act opposite to. also the way the head vampire is killed at the end of the movie is actually really creative and fun.

why do ghouls fall in love? (2012): this is a monster high movie, and personally it’s one of my favorites. technically there’s vampires in like, every monster high movie, but this one is very draculaura focused so i consider it a vampire movie.

my babysitter’s a vampire (2010): now i might just like this movie because i watched it a lot when i was around 10 or 11, but i think it holds up. they don’t shy away from a lot of the more... disturbing aspects of vampirism, the movie actually starts with a character getting off-screen murdered, but it’s all balanced with comedy very well. also it has vanessa morgan starring as the titular babysitter.

blade (1998): i think a lot of people have seen blade but i’m putting on here anyways. this is THE vampire hunter movie, and if you like a lot of cool action sequences i’d recommend it. i haven’t seen the sequels though, so i can’t speak to their quality.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't have much hope for the Red, White and Royal Blue movie, if they ever even get around to releasing it. I think the guy who plays Henry was chosen because he played Pierce Brosnan's character's son Prince Charming in Cinderella bc tbh he looks like a Ken doll. Kissing Booth guy is way too beefcake and has zero sparkle to play Alex. Alex Claremont-Diaz is all about sparkle.

More than anything it's produced by Greg Berlanti, worst white gay to happen to network TV. Speaking as someone who was obsessed with his DCTv shows, Love, Simon was the only worthwhile thing he's ever done, and even that doesn't make up for his studio's treatment of Keiynan Lonsdale and literally every actor they've ever worked with, especially women and actors of colour. He and his merry band of ghouls need to go out of business yesterday. His brand of queer "representation" is pure white cis het respectability politics, built on sexual harrassment, racism, misogyny, worker exploitation and white privilege. I do not want this man and his toxic waste dump to get their hands on any more artists or crew of colour.

RW&RB works because it's a political wish fulfillment fantasy by a queer person that advocates for something more than just white liberal guff. Berlanti is nothing but that. Considering how much further left the young queer zeitgeist has moved since the book was published in 2019, what with the 2020 BLM protests and covid, the movie should also reflect that in order to represent queer people of colour. If not, you're just putting vulnerable people in the hands of racists and misogynists to tokenize characters of colour and erase our actual interests.

Anyway, my fancast for Alex is young Tyler Posey (bisexual Latino anyone?) and Henry is young William Moseley. Both are too old now to play the roles; fortunately the landscape of my imagination is much richer and more timeless than any live-action adaptation.

I'm Miles! I'm 19. I LOVE Tokyo Ghoul, AFTG, and Adventure Time. I'm an ancient history buff and am currently learning the ancient Greek language (though I'm not much good at it yet lol). I want GOOD queer rep in Monster High! I want it almost as much as I want diverse body types. I want it so badly. I’ve DUG deep and unearthed some some queer rep crumbs. Zomby Gaga was technically our first Bisexual Doll, Greta Gremlin is technically our first trans doll with Frankie being the second, Neighthan & Valentine we’re both intended and coded to be gay men written by a gay man. But where or… should I say were was our lesbian rep? Garrett proudly declared Clawdeen as a Lesbian and because he was the creator most fans took his word as law… but this didn’t feel like a victory to me, it felt hollow. It bothered me & I couldn’t figure out why, after being called Lesbophobic by a dozen people on Twitter for daring to disagree with Father Monster it hit me! Years prior Garrett was asked outright if he wrote Clawdeen to be a lesbian & he said it was never intended her to be that way but he supports people who see her as gay. NOW fast forward like 2-3 years? Garrett left Mattel, he was not fired he left. Garrett declares Clawdeen as a Lesbian. The timing is important because not only did this come after admitting she was never written to be a lesbian, he said it years after he left Mattel and no longer had any influence on Monster High, Clawdeen was no longer his character. His word now means nothing. This? Was messy and unfair to lesbians who deserve to have good rep! Not just a sloppy afterthought tagged on later. Mattel clearly did not agree & hammered it home in G3 that Clawdeen’s hobby is “flirting with boys” and in the live action movie Deuce is crushing on her and the feeling is mutual. This had to hurt lesbians who see themselves in her and that? Was cruel. (I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Bisexual Clawdeen).

Now! I told you that story to tell you this story: Howleen has never had a canon love interest, she is also 14, these two things are related because in the episode Fierce Crush there is some type of full moon event going on that is making all of the werewolves lovey-dovey. (It’s probably mating season, but this is a kids show.) it's the first full moon of the lunar leap year.

There werewolves are giving their lunas a token of their love, This Crescent Moon High boy gives his ghoul his class ring.

Clawd gives Draculaura his varsity jacket. (someone please draw her absolutely swimming in that jacket pls)

and Clawdeen tells Howleen not to fall into that “I gotta get a boyfriend” trap because she is too young. Howleen takes this as great personal offensive & says she’s not in a manner very fitting of someone whose obviously not mature enough to be dating yet. On cue Romulus helps Howleen with her stuck locker & she makes goo goo eyes at him, Clawdeen instantly tries to curb stomp that by gently reminding Howleen that Romulus used to puppy-sit her.

She tells her friend Lothar who...is someone we have never seen before this moment and we will never see again... That she "Really Likes" Romulus. As her friend, he tries to give her good advice and the advice he gives her IS good advice but she messes up and sets Romulus on fire.

But her attempts to impress Romulus are all in vain because apparently he's into.... The Create A Monster Wolf girl!?!?

Anyways Howleen is kinda bummed by this and Lothar comforts her telling her that "If he can't see how furrific you are? then it's his loss"

Which is once again, really good advice. Lothar is pretty wise for someone we've never met before and we will never see again... Pity, we could have used a wise chubby little brother troll doll.

But then oh no! he likes Howleen! but she only see's him as a friend and the episode ends with narration from Frankie that "Romance can be pretty tricky sometimes. For every Monster who wont notice you, There's someone behind you, you're not noticing and someone right behind them" implying this slug girl has a crush on Lothar. WTF she's cute too! give us slug girl little sister doll!

Now NORMALLY I would say this is Howleen expressing an attraction to boys. That's usually my M.O. of ringing that cow bell that she's into boys and that automatically rules out Lesbian but still keeps the door open for her being Sapphic And OH BOY! I’m gonna eat my own words here but part of being being emotionally mature is admitting when your wrong and I don't think this attraction to Romulus is genuine. I think she is just trying to spite Clawdeen which is her usual M.O., Seem more mature than she is and she's probably feeling pressure from this lunar new year thing, I don't think she's actually into Romulus considering It has never come up before this episode and it never comes up again.

And I'm glad it never comes up again because it's fuckin' gross. He's way too old for her and I mean that in a serious way not in my usual "Romulus is absolutely a 45yr old grown ass man" way. He's gigantic and more than likely a High School Senior or even a Super Senior which puts him around 18yrs old and I know 4 years might not seem like much the older we get but that is a huge maturity gap for teenagers and totally inappropriate and possibly illegal I'm not really sure.

SO! Since that is really the only time we see her show an attraction to boys and no, I'm not counting her kissing the eyeball boy in "Why do Ghouls fall in love" that was her under the influence of Cupid's love spell and not real. it doesn't seem like she's into boys, but once she becomes friends with Twyla? they are never apart! and that is freshman shorthand for "I like You" could I be reaching? could be, maybe, it's possible... I'm not a fan of "they're dating just because they hang out a lot" but Twyla is literally the only person she trusts whose not family.

However, this is all circumstantial evidence, she's 14 and may not be into anyone! despite her protests she is still a baby.

But I don't think her being gay would be a "cop out" I think it would be wonderful lesbian rep if they plan her this way! her and Twyla is a huge ship and I find it adorable. there's gotta be SOMETHING there if so many people ship it. normally I don't go with the flow with ships I need something there.

But a lot of gay kids see themself in Howleen and if anyone could be the one to show them it's okay? it would be her. Howleen spent the entirety of G1 trying to find herself.

I think it's time she does.

Ghoul, you didn’t post my ask about my Oc Mare so either you didn’t like her and I apologize or you’re holding onto my ask for some reason or other. Or tumblr ate it. Either way, I have new ocs (when don’t I though). These ones both are a mix of the Cowboy and fae aus!

Kiwi, a rough but sweet ex-military farm girl who is missing her right arm, visits her cousin in the fae city. Gets black out drunk and wakes up in an ice bath missing a kidney. Goes to a doctor and just assumes the black market but this is a doctor that knows fae work when he sees it. She gets a massive info dump about fae, assumes that the people here are all crazy and promptly goes back to Texas but can’t shake the feeling of needing to follow the advice the doctor gave her. Sports a shiny iron necklace that everyone around home asks her about but she doesn’t have an answer for.

Then there’s Shrike, who gets obsessed with Kiwi from the little taste of her meat that she got. Craves it like a drug but can’t get her fix because of the iron her victim is wearing. It drives her up a fucking wall but she can’t give up the hunt. Follows Kiwi all the way to Texas and tries so hard to break down every defense the ex-soldier has. She tells herself it’s just for food, for the delicious taste that lingers in her throat, but her mind drifts from tearing into Kiwi’s throat and more towards pressing harsh kisses and sucks to the rough skin there.

And yes I named them both after BIRDS!!!! I am continuing the bird trend of the Cowboy au!!!! - ☀️

Apologies that I'm going to think of Kiwi as Goose's cousin even though the fae aren't part of the cowboy au. Shrike shows up and Goose again has no clue how to deal with any of it. Would level a gun at Shrike in a very "Maybe we stay away from my cousin" move.
