I have. Thoughts about Dave's glasses a metaphor/visual representation of him repressing his emotions and his relationship with Bro.

Because like obviously you have him go from wearing the glasses that Bro gave him (that are identical to his) to wearing the glasses John gave him (which mirrors how he tried to emulate Bro/thought his situation was normal until he began interacting with his friends more) but I feel like you could do something with the fact he still wears them after that?

Like. He's still wearing them to seem 'cool', and still in a way emulating Bro (even if it is unintentional), and he still has the habit of downplaying/repressing his emotions that he most likely got from growing up with Bro. And ofc there's the obvious symbolism in him constantly hiding his eyes (the windows to the soul or w/ever) in the same way he hides his emotions.

Idk I just think there's some interesting potential there

#like. glasses as putting up a mask #no glasses as him being emotionally vulnerable #< especially since the only way youd really see him without glasses is by catching him off guard (aka when hes vulnerable)#and not to be davekat on main but the way he mirrors karkat drives me slightly insane #karkat hides his red blood as its a mutation that could get him hurt or killed if its found out #dave hides his red eyes because they represent the emotions that (in his eyes) could get him hurt or killed #and they both find a safe space where they dont need to hide those aspects (karkat wearing red and dave being more emotionally honest)#anyway yeah im going. slightly insane #me.txt #dave strider #karkat vantas #homestuck #meta #?

hrk well…! hiya im yoi!! (yoimiya genshin) and im answering this one cause im the most recent split hehe. honestly its kinda like….. i dunno were just trying to cope with stuff i guess! i split back toward the end of our fall semester when shit suddenly got really bad after a really good period, (im talking grade dropped from an 85% to a 59%!!! yikes) and, well…….im naturally a cheery person! so i think thats just kinda what we needed during a time of extreme stress and disappointment and i know i am sure happy to provide!!

last time someone split before me was shoby (shinobu genshin) and that was back in may when we were finally kicking our really cringe ex to the curb anddddd we needed a strong assertive force to do it! and shobys been really good at actually getting us in the mindset to sit down and do important tasks ever since. :)

so yeah it does suck that a lot of the time we come about cause something huge happens and were like “uh oh, how do we cope with this?” but i think were here for the better and were all like a little family! im happy to be here and im happy to introduce myself to daves friends on tumblr dot com!! and thank you for your concern too, were doing better ^^

homestuck AU where vriska goes to therapy

#sasha #i recently reread the scene where terezi meets aranea and wow vriska has mental health issues #reading that scene again was just like ‘wow this kid genuinely thinks that horrific violence is a normal part of relating to other people’#she literally blinds her best friend and then is like ‘now we’re even & can go back to normal! ::::)’#she clearly enjoys being friends with terezi but she blinds her anyway because she doesn’t know any other way to interact with people #vriska serket my poor little meow meow with untreated NPD and ASPD #like it’s not just that she expects terezi to forgive her for that it’s that she is ready to forgive terezi #(not that i remember every detail of that whole revenge cycle so i’m not actually sure why she was mad at terezi)#like she just. very much thinks that violence is normal and doesn’t understand why other people don’t accept it the same way she does #all of alternian society is structured to encourage this but because she’s a highblood she relates to it differently than say sollux #the lower bloods have a sense of solidarity. they recognize that the system they live in isn’t fair because it disadvantages them #and terezi is just 1 tier lower than vriska but she has closer relationships with karkat and nepeta and iirc tavros and aradia #and probably has a better understanding of alternia’s legal system & therefore is in a better position to notice its flaws #vriska has a ‘friendship’ with tavros characterized by her tormenting him because she thinks that’s how life works #she thinks people need to toughen up and that she’s doing him a favor by being so rough #and i think tavros buys into that too to some degree #but like. she seriously thinks she’s being kind to him! she seriously thinks that she’s naturally better than him and her abuse is an act #of charity

Anyways I had to rush a semi major assignment done in like. An Hour before it was due after trying and failing to work on it allll night and getting no sleep at all. Why? Because i was busy reading Alternate Universe by Unda and going insane thoughts in the tags.

#unlike the other two unda fics ive read #where the title is basically just a one off line from an early chapter #the title really matters here and not becahse it gets meta like mce!#also while i liked it a LOT im unsure if thisll be one i reread much. mce has that crown with like. a billion already.#i reread mce and reread it eight after #and occaisionally reread parta of dbdc but its a lot longer so that stalls out #au tho has a lot less downtime in it. once the plot starts realllly happening it doesnt stop and its reveal after reveal after reveal #so a bit emotionally exhausting #also unsure about hlw sollux and dave are so impkrtant... but not primary pov characters it causes some problems... ik for plot reasons but #like i love rose here. even compared to mce this might be the best rose of the three #but it causes some conflict between plot focus and story focus as time goes on from early where its all davesolkat but mostly solkat #to: rose is more important than both sol and dave agency wise #not bad just. a conflict there #anyways go read it if you havent. likely easy to get jnto for non hs readers actually #just some minor references and name stuff youd miss #totslly coherent plot wise #ALSO GETTING TO PREDICT STUFF WAS GREAT #I FELT SO SMART FIGURING OUT KARKATS SPECIES LIKE... CHAPTER 4 OR SMTH. MAYBE 3 #EVEN IF THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN INTENDED
